- 0:04Speaker 1: Trent is here with us today. Again, we appreciate you
- 0:06Speaker 1: being here.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Trent.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Could to see you. A lot of talk, of course,
- 0:09Speaker 1: about what the Reds are doing with Elie de la Cruz.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I want to know your take on it. I mean,
- 0:13Speaker 1: you cover this team better than anybody with the athletic.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Are you surprised? I guess that he didn't take the deal,
- 0:19Speaker 1: And on the flip side of that, at least, hey,
- 0:21Speaker 1: the Red's offered, right, that's all they can do.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I think everybody's nobody's surprised inside because
- 0:30Speaker 3: the Reds have to make that attempt right, and they
- 0:33Speaker 3: also you know, if you're being honest, you don't expect
- 0:36Speaker 3: him to take it because.
- 0:38Speaker 4: This is a guy who could.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Be and I mean a lot of things have to
- 0:42Speaker 3: go right, and this is down the road a little bit.
- 0:44Speaker 3: He could be a billion dollar player, and I just
- 0:48Speaker 3: don't know if you give up on that now. There
- 0:51Speaker 3: are a lot of things that you have to take
- 0:54Speaker 3: in consideration. You know, we talk about the guys the
- 0:59Speaker 3: Ronald Acunya, you know, Bobby wit Junior. You also have
- 1:03Speaker 3: on the other side you have Scott Kanary and guys
- 1:05Speaker 3: like that. So it's not a sure thing. But I
- 1:09Speaker 3: think Ellie and his representation believe in him enough that
- 1:17Speaker 3: it just seems like you're leaving a lot of money
- 1:19Speaker 3: on the table. Not that there's I mean, I would
- 1:22Speaker 3: love to figure out the difference between having two hundred
- 1:24Speaker 3: and fifty million and three hundred and fifty million, but
- 1:29Speaker 3: that's not in the cards for me. I don't think
- 1:31Speaker 3: we got to reh I have to renegotiate my riverfront
- 1:34Speaker 3: territory contract to get anywhere near that.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Okay, that's fair.
- 1:38Speaker 5: I appreciate you putting that, putting that out there, but
- 1:42Speaker 5: where like, let's how can you how can you rank
- 1:46Speaker 5: Ellie in the names that you brought up?
- 1:49Speaker 4: Are you well there's still potential? Yeah? Absolutely?
- 1:53Speaker 3: And those guys you know, was Bobby Wit, Bobby Witt?
- 1:56Speaker 3: Wasn't Bobby Wit when he signed that, he had just
- 1:58Speaker 3: signed it. I remember going to Kansas City in two thousands.
- 2:03Speaker 3: It twenty four Eli's first year or twenty three. I'm
- 2:06Speaker 3: blanking because it's all runs together when you're old, AJ.
- 2:10Speaker 3: I know it's about that you're not as much cratzy.
- 2:13Speaker 3: But so like people going, oh, we're in Kansas City
- 2:17Speaker 3: and they're like, this is what Bobby Whitt was supposed
- 2:18Speaker 3: to be and I was like, this guy's still pretty good,
- 2:21Speaker 3: and then he kind of had that second season. Everybody
- 2:24Speaker 3: has their own timeline, but the potential is just I mean,
- 2:28Speaker 3: the potential there is greater than than anyone, to be honest,
- 2:33Speaker 3: and even if he's just what he is now, if
- 2:37Speaker 3: you just say, oh, all we have is an all
- 2:39Speaker 3: star shortstop, I mean that's pretty good.
- 2:43Speaker 2: By the way.
- 2:44Speaker 6: I know you went to Georgia and it's hard for
- 2:45Speaker 6: you to do math because there is no requirements to
- 2:48Speaker 6: get in there or to graduate from there. But the
- 2:50Speaker 6: difference between two hundred and fifty and three hundred and
- 2:52Speaker 6: fifty million is about one hundred million. So I know
- 2:54Speaker 6: you would like, right, figure that well, but.
- 2:56Speaker 3: I don't have your I don't have your contract, so
- 3:00Speaker 3: like to me, they're both a lot, and they are
- 3:04Speaker 3: a lot a lot in a little a lot, but
- 3:06Speaker 3: in a little lot.
- 3:08Speaker 2: I got told this.
- 3:09Speaker 6: I got told this by an owner one time. It
- 3:13Speaker 6: was I'm like, well, you know, what's the difference between
- 3:15Speaker 6: one point nine billion and two billion? And he looks
- 3:18Speaker 6: at me and goes one hundred million. I'm like, when
- 3:21Speaker 6: you get to that amount, doesn't matter. He's like, absolutely,
- 3:23Speaker 6: So maybe it doesn't matter. I'm never going to see
- 3:26Speaker 6: that money either.
- 3:27Speaker 2: So I don't know. I don't know Trump, but I'm
- 3:30Speaker 2: just saying, Okay.
- 3:35Speaker 3: I'll talk to Scott and uh and we'll get working
- 3:37Speaker 3: on your one hundred million difference edition.
- 3:42Speaker 4: Perfect.
- 3:42Speaker 6: What's what's the feeling of the fans in Cincinnati with this?
- 3:45Speaker 6: Because we mentioned they lost on schwerbur and they offered
- 3:48Speaker 6: them three hundred. Now they've come out and said they
- 3:49Speaker 6: offered Elie this contract? Are they What are the Reds
- 3:52Speaker 6: fans feeling and thinking? You know, they just had redsvests
- 3:55Speaker 6: this week and where they at?
- 3:57Speaker 2: Uh?
- 3:57Speaker 3: You know, like I think a lot of we've about
- 4:00Speaker 3: Ellie since he's since he came up. They're like, Oh,
- 4:03Speaker 3: it's just gonna suck when he was a Dodger as
- 4:05Speaker 3: opposed to holy crap, we got this guy for a while.
- 4:09Speaker 3: I think there's still some trepidation. Some take it as
- 4:14Speaker 3: like defeatists, and some are just like, well, you know what,
- 4:17Speaker 3: we're getting this guy through his age twenty seventh season.
- 4:21Speaker 3: We might be getting the best of him. And I
- 4:24Speaker 3: think there's something to be said for that.
- 4:28Speaker 5: What is the what is the what is the pivot
- 4:31Speaker 5: for the Reds fans in the sense that I think
- 4:34Speaker 5: ag alluded to it. But the money that they had
- 4:37Speaker 5: out there for Schwarmer, the money that they have for Ellie,
- 4:40Speaker 5: does this just all of a sudden go Okay, we're
- 4:43Speaker 5: quiet now, we're not gonna We're not gonna be sorry
- 4:46Speaker 5: everybody else.
- 4:47Speaker 3: I mean a lot of that money, a ton of
- 4:50Speaker 3: the Schwarmer money was going to be deferred. The Ellie
- 4:53Speaker 3: money is future money. And that's hard to explain. You
- 4:59Speaker 3: get a lot of in the SAUC making when you're
- 5:00Speaker 3: talking about this kind of stuff, But it will I
- 5:05Speaker 3: think it does turn fans off. You see a lot
- 5:08Speaker 3: of fans just going, oh, I can't wait for a lockout.
- 5:11Speaker 3: I could wait for a lockout. I don't not want one, because,
- 5:15Speaker 3: uh as much as Jim Bowden and everybody else says
- 5:18Speaker 3: they want a salary cap, I just don't see it.
- 5:21Speaker 3: The MLBPA is actually, you know, has a backbone unlike
- 5:26Speaker 3: some others, and they don't want it, and they're not
- 5:28Speaker 3: going to give up on this, and as as well,
- 5:31Speaker 3: they shouldn't to me. Like you know, these owners who
- 5:33Speaker 3: write these big tecks, they write them because they don't bounce.
- 5:37Speaker 4: They have it.
- 5:39Speaker 3: You know, AJ might want to give somebody three hundred million,
- 5:43Speaker 3: and and if he, if he writes the check, he's
- 5:46Speaker 3: got it.
- 5:46Speaker 4: So it's up to him to do it.
- 5:49Speaker 5: Can the Reds afford the floor? Can they afford to
- 5:52Speaker 5: get up to the floor? Because why don't?
- 5:56Speaker 3: They're at one twenty five? Now, that's the floor is
- 5:59Speaker 3: not going to be more than that. What do you
- 6:02Speaker 3: what do you think the floor would be one hundred?
- 6:04Speaker 5: It would have to be a much much closer, like
- 6:07Speaker 5: if everyone's like, oh man, everybody's you know, look at
- 6:09Speaker 5: the other sports, it's a much closer. It's not going
- 6:12Speaker 5: to be it's not going to be two hundred and
- 6:14Speaker 5: ninety million to one hundred and twenty five.
- 6:17Speaker 4: They can't. They can't do that.
- 6:18Speaker 5: So they have to be able to to me, to me,
- 6:20Speaker 5: there's we're not going to debate the salary capper, no.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Sense I think they would, but they'll be close.
- 6:28Speaker 4: How close?
- 6:28Speaker 5: How sorry we frozen there for a little bit. How
- 6:30Speaker 5: close do you think the Reds think they are to
- 6:34Speaker 5: be to being a consistent playoff team? I know they
- 6:38Speaker 5: made the playoffs last year. The Reds let them, they
- 6:41Speaker 5: gave them their ticket to the I mean, the Mets
- 6:44Speaker 5: gave the Reds their ticket to the playoffs, But.
- 6:46Speaker 4: How close do they think they are? To me?
- 6:48Speaker 5: I feel like the Reds underachieved last year based on
- 6:52Speaker 5: how I feel about this position player lineup. And maybe
- 6:56Speaker 5: it's all potential. But what we just talked about Ellie's
- 6:59Speaker 5: three hundred plus million dollars that he should get is
- 7:01Speaker 5: all potential. So how close do the Rens truly think
- 7:05Speaker 5: they are.
- 7:07Speaker 3: I think they feel like they can compete over the
- 7:11Speaker 3: next couple of years, and what they have to do
- 7:14Speaker 3: is learn from their mistakes. Remember the Reds of the
- 7:18Speaker 3: early twenty ten, ten to twenty thirteen, Well, when they
- 7:23Speaker 3: were doing that, oh you got to go all in
- 7:25Speaker 3: for this window. They gave up in trades like fifty
- 7:29Speaker 3: future war in guys like Cosmani, Grandal Yonder, Alonzo, Mike Leek,
- 7:36Speaker 3: Brad Bachsberger. They gave up a lot to supplement. And
- 7:40Speaker 3: so you will hear all the time people go like, well,
- 7:42Speaker 3: this is their chance, you should go all in. Well,
- 7:45Speaker 3: when you go all in, if you don't win the pot,
- 7:47Speaker 3: you're out. And that happened to them for a good
- 7:51Speaker 3: five year, five six years and that is what I
- 7:55Speaker 3: think would really hurt the team. So you have to
- 7:59Speaker 3: be smart, like I mean the Brewers. Look at what
- 8:01Speaker 3: the Brewers have done. They identify who they need and
- 8:04Speaker 3: what they need. And you know, as much as they
- 8:08Speaker 3: hated to see some guys go, they keep chugging along.
- 8:12Speaker 3: And that's because they do develop and they don't trade
- 8:16Speaker 3: from their surplus to get the shiny object to to
- 8:20Speaker 3: what makes sense to everybody else.
- 8:24Speaker 7: Nobody likes a bloated cell phone bill. It can consume you,
- 8:28Speaker 7: it can take over, it can be very annoying. So
- 8:32Speaker 7: I know that twenty twenty five ended Crafts and that's
- 8:34Speaker 7: when you have your end of your sales, but there
- 8:36Speaker 7: actually is still one sale that is running until the
- 8:38Speaker 7: end of the month.
- 8:40Speaker 5: Mid and Mobile they still have their fifty percent off
- 8:42Speaker 5: their unlimited premium wireless offer that you got to go
- 8:45Speaker 5: and get and take advantage of them because it's not
- 8:48Speaker 5: necessarily going to.
- 8:48Speaker 7: Be around all the time, and all plans come with
- 8:52Speaker 7: high speed data and unlimited talking text delivered on the
- 8:54Speaker 7: nation's largest five G network. Quit overspending on wireless with
- 8:58Speaker 7: fifty percent off unlimited did premium wireless plans start at
- 9:01Speaker 7: fifteen bucks a month at mintmobile dot com slash territory.
- 9:04Speaker 7: That's mintmobile dot com slash territory. Limited time offer upfront
- 9:07Speaker 7: payment of forty five dollars for three months, ninety dollars
- 9:09Speaker 7: for six months, or one hundred eighty dollars for twelve months.
- 9:12Speaker 7: Plan required fifteen dollars per month equivalent taxes and fees
- 9:15Speaker 7: extra initial plan term only. Over fifty gigabytes may slow
- 9:18Speaker 7: a network is busy capable device required, availability, speed and
- 9:21Speaker 7: coverage varies see mintmobile dot com.
- 9:24Speaker 6: What's the untouchables for the reds? If we're gonna keep
- 9:27Speaker 6: going down this, who are the untouchables? Sal Stewart is
- 9:33Speaker 6: Ellie de la Cruz? And then who's the prosper's supposed
- 9:37Speaker 6: to be on the trade? Remember all we heard all
- 9:40Speaker 6: winter was where did.
- 9:42Speaker 4: You hear it? Where did you hear it?
- 9:43Speaker 2: That me?
- 9:45Speaker 3: Yeah, you didn't hear it from me? And that's what
- 9:47Speaker 3: I'm going to say, because I've never believed that, and
- 9:51Speaker 3: it just never made sense. I think, you know, of
- 9:55Speaker 3: Chase Burns, maybe untouchable prospect wise. You know, it's funny
- 10:01Speaker 3: like because there's always the public list and the private list.
- 10:04Speaker 3: I think they're much higher on a guy like Hector
- 10:10Speaker 3: Rodriguez than the industry is Alfredo Doo. That's an untouchable
- 10:14Speaker 3: right now. That guy is a beast. He's a catcher
- 10:20Speaker 3: twenty years old, had more strikeout or more walks and strikeouts,
- 10:24Speaker 3: just like and.
- 10:27Speaker 4: They have some guys.
- 10:29Speaker 3: But you always need the depth. And I think where
- 10:35Speaker 3: they have their depth right now is in starting pitching.
- 10:38Speaker 3: And you almost need ten starters these days. And for
- 10:41Speaker 3: a team like the Reds, the only way to get
- 10:43Speaker 3: starting pitching is to develop it or acquire it young.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Because if I'm a free agent pitcher or there's no
- 10:50Speaker 3: way I'm coming here.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Trying to think the Reds. You just mentioned it. To
- 11:00Speaker 1: expand on this a little bit, the Reds the only
- 11:01Speaker 1: way they get good starting pitching is by developing it.
- 11:04Speaker 1: I mean, it seems like a Freddy Peralta signing for
- 11:06Speaker 1: the Reds could be something that would make sense. I mean,
- 11:09Speaker 1: anybody can sign Freddy Parolta. Now, I mean it's what
- 11:11Speaker 1: a thousand I mean, he's at eight million dollars. I mean,
- 11:14Speaker 1: it's not something that anybody can afford. I mean, is
- 11:17Speaker 1: that the only way that they're going to get decent
- 11:19Speaker 1: starting pitching is from within.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Well, I think they have it right now. I mean,
- 11:24Speaker 3: right now, you look at it and you have a
- 11:25Speaker 3: top of Hunter Green, Nicolodolo, Andrew Abbott, Brady Singer for
- 11:31Speaker 3: one more year, Chase Petty is a good young pitcher,
- 11:36Speaker 3: had his ups and downs, Rhet Louder, Chase Burns, Brandon
- 11:41Speaker 3: Williamson is coming back, Aggie ar is coming back. Both
- 11:44Speaker 3: of those guys from TJ. They have some other guys
- 11:47Speaker 3: in the system they like. I think that that's what
- 11:50Speaker 3: they're gonna do. And it's it's not saying, you know, oh,
- 11:54Speaker 3: we have five starters if we even if we trade
- 11:58Speaker 3: Hunter Green to get whatever.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Five starters.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Like twenty twelve, the Reds used five starters for one
- 12:07Speaker 3: hundred and sixty one games. I don't expect that again,
- 12:11Speaker 3: and nobody does. Nobody should. Like they used twelve last year,
- 12:14Speaker 3: you almost need like nine, and you need four or
- 12:19Speaker 3: five of those guys to have options. And so that
- 12:21Speaker 3: means the young guys that you don't trade away.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Right, you don't need to trade for him. Obviously the
- 12:26Speaker 1: starting staff is there. What is in your opinion, Trent,
- 12:29Speaker 1: the biggest need for the Reds right now?
- 12:33Speaker 3: They just need somebody in the lineup, whether internally it comes,
- 12:37Speaker 3: and that's a hell of a gamble when you're gambling
- 12:40Speaker 3: on guys growing and getting better. They need a guy
- 12:44Speaker 3: who besides Ellie de la Cruz that people game plan
- 12:49Speaker 3: for right They don't have that guy right now. Could
- 12:51Speaker 3: it be South Stuart? I think so. I mean, this
- 12:54Speaker 3: guy can hit. Could it be Matt McClain. I'm a
- 12:58Speaker 3: huge believer in Matt McLain. He came off the shoulder
- 13:01Speaker 3: injury he had that that whole year that he was out,
- 13:03Speaker 3: and then that next year those shoulders.
- 13:07Speaker 4: We've seen it.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Time and time again that it takes a while. I
- 13:10Speaker 3: think he's a really good ballplayer. Noelvi Marte watched noelvi
- 13:16Speaker 3: Marte now that he knows he's just gonna be in
- 13:18Speaker 3: the outfield and could just hit. They have guys who
- 13:23Speaker 3: can do it. But you would feel a lot better
- 13:25Speaker 3: if you had a Kyle Schwarber. Now would you feel
- 13:27Speaker 3: better if you had a Kyle Schwarber four years out
- 13:30Speaker 3: in the line That is taking up half your payroll.
- 13:35Speaker 3: That's the big question. So you know, maybe they didn't
- 13:37Speaker 3: there and one of these guys develops, But that's that's
- 13:40Speaker 3: a lot of a lot of finger crossing, and finger
- 13:43Speaker 3: crossing isn't quite a strategy.
- 13:46Speaker 4: I've tried it.
- 13:46Speaker 3: It doesn't doesn't work much.
- 13:49Speaker 5: Were you able to get a pulse at Reds vest
- 13:52Speaker 5: of Reds fans? Were you able to get a pulse
- 13:54Speaker 5: of the sense that they're all happy?
- 13:56Speaker 4: Oh wow, that's so amazing.
- 13:58Speaker 5: We made this, like Ellie move like compared to other years,
- 14:02Speaker 5: because don't forget, Like Reds fans might need to not
- 14:05Speaker 5: forget they were in the playoffs last year.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Yes, and I think some are forgetting that. But yeah,
- 14:11Speaker 3: but the team that beat them, they were pretty good, right,
- 14:15Speaker 3: they lost the Dodgs, you know, Yeah, they lost to
- 14:18Speaker 3: the Dodgers. You know who else lost to the Dodgers? Everybody? So,
- 14:23Speaker 3: you know, I think they're fan bases. You know, it's
- 14:27Speaker 3: not a monolith. I think there's a lot of people
- 14:30Speaker 3: who are frustrated that they didn't get the big bat.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Then there's other ones who are just cautiously optimistic and
- 14:37Speaker 3: they see like, okay, you know what, we had kind
- 14:41Speaker 3: of that step back in twenty four, but if we
- 14:43Speaker 3: could really capitalize on what we saw in twenty three,
- 14:46Speaker 3: And it comes to fruition. I think there's a lot
- 14:48Speaker 3: of guarded optimism for the relative short term, but then
- 14:55Speaker 3: the economics, the game, everything, there's pessimism for that because well,
- 15:00Speaker 3: baseball smart markets, and you look at it, and not
- 15:03Speaker 3: only are the Reds of the small market, their primary
- 15:06Speaker 3: owner is I mean like basically, if you're looking at
- 15:12Speaker 3: his payroll, it's like me and AJ. You know, the
- 15:14Speaker 3: rest of the baseball are really rich like AJ, and
- 15:17Speaker 3: then the Reds are like me. They're like, yeah, we're
- 15:20Speaker 3: in the game, but come on, he is Like if
- 15:24Speaker 3: you look at like the estimated net worth, he's by
- 15:28Speaker 3: far the poorest owner. I would love to be poor
- 15:32Speaker 3: like that. But you know, it's all relative, you know,
- 15:36Speaker 3: if you I don't need to explain that to Ja,
- 15:40Speaker 3: because you know.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Trent good classes. Hey, Trent.
- 15:44Speaker 6: I once stayed at his hotel that he used to
- 15:47Speaker 6: have out in Arizona, the sanctuary for spring training. So
- 15:49Speaker 6: I contributed to the Reds payroll. So the Reds fan
- 15:52Speaker 6: should thank me. I stayed there for a whole spring training.
- 15:55Speaker 3: It's a hell of a place.
- 15:56Speaker 4: He sold it.
- 15:57Speaker 6: I know it was, Yeah, it was a actually met
- 16:00Speaker 6: him one night in the restaurant in there, so, but yeah,
- 16:02Speaker 6: it was a hell of a restaurant.
- 16:05Speaker 2: It was.
- 16:05Speaker 4: You're right, so Thankstuary. Go for it. Yes, great place.
- 16:11Speaker 2: We're gonna go there.
- 16:12Speaker 6: We're gonna we're gonna get a foul territory to pony
- 16:14Speaker 6: up for Lana and I to stay there.
- 16:16Speaker 2: When we go out to spring training.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Sounds good.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Seems like you need some side hustles, Trent uh Income somehow.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Great to be with you. As always, we look forward
- 16:27Speaker 1: to reading all your stuff on the Athletic and of
- 16:29Speaker 1: course you can catch Trent on our Foul Territory network
- 16:34Speaker 1: on the Riverfront Territory Heat and Danny Graves will be
- 16:37Speaker 1: right back with hot corner. All right, guys, talking a
- 16:40Speaker 1: lot about the Reds today. Of course, the Reds regular
- 16:42Speaker 1: season win total is over under eighty three and a
- 16:46Speaker 1: half at minus one ten. Aj I will start with you,
- 16:50Speaker 1: are we taking the over or the under on Cincinnati
- 16:54Speaker 1: Red Legs.
- 16:56Speaker 6: I want to take the over so bad on this,
- 16:58Speaker 6: YE really want to take the over so much on this,
- 17:02Speaker 6: But then I look back and I'm like, gosh, everyone
- 17:04Speaker 6: was picking them to win the division and do this
- 17:05Speaker 6: and do that last year and it didn't happen. Yes,
- 17:08Speaker 6: they still made the playoffs, but I'm still gonna I'm
- 17:10Speaker 6: still riding with Tito. I'm still riding with the Reds.
- 17:13Speaker 6: I think they're gonna get They're gonna be an eighty
- 17:15Speaker 6: four to eighty five win team, So I'll take the
- 17:18Speaker 6: over to bet. But they've just broke in my heart
- 17:23Speaker 6: the last couple of years. You know, it's like, oh,
- 17:26Speaker 6: so I'm going over, what about you?
- 17:29Speaker 4: Uk over?
- 17:31Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 17:31Speaker 5: I think I think the Brewers. I think there's just
- 17:34Speaker 5: more wins to be had in the National League Central.
- 17:37Speaker 4: I get it.
- 17:38Speaker 5: I think the Cubs are better. I think they're gonna
- 17:40Speaker 5: win more games than they did, But I don't think
- 17:41Speaker 5: the Brewers are gonna win ninety seven. Ninety seven's a lot,
- 17:45Speaker 5: and I think I will keep saying it until all
- 17:48Speaker 5: these dudes are gone. But I think this position player
- 17:52Speaker 5: corps will take a step forward as a whole. And
- 17:56Speaker 5: I think they're starting rotation and you know, the back
- 18:00Speaker 5: into their bullpen's pretty legit too. But I think their
- 18:02Speaker 5: starting rotation has been solidified here really in the last
- 18:07Speaker 5: year and a half two years, with obviously Hunter Green
- 18:09Speaker 5: being healthy. That gives them a guy who is a
- 18:13Speaker 5: one plus. I'm not gonna put them on an A
- 18:16Speaker 5: status yet, but A one plus.
- 18:18Speaker 1: All right, So you mentioned that you don't think they're
- 18:20Speaker 1: gonna get ninety seven wins. Is anybody I mean, is
- 18:23Speaker 1: the parody in baseball such now, guys that there's maybe
- 18:26Speaker 1: no team AJ that gets ninety seven wins this year?
- 18:30Speaker 2: Parody? What parody?
- 18:31Speaker 6: I thought the Dodgers are gonna win one hundred and
- 18:33Speaker 6: sixty two games, Alana, No, I don't.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I don't think they can win one hundred and sixty two.
- 18:38Speaker 1: I mean that.
- 18:40Speaker 6: Physic'd be some kind of record if they did it.
- 18:43Speaker 6: It'd be an awesome record if they could do But
- 18:46Speaker 6: I mean it'd be fun to be on that team
- 18:47Speaker 6: and win every game.
- 18:48Speaker 4: That would be kind of cool.
- 18:49Speaker 2: But no, ninety seven.
- 18:51Speaker 6: I mean, there's the Dodgers would be the team you
- 18:54Speaker 6: look at and say they could win ninety seven if
- 18:55Speaker 6: everything lines up and it goes right for him. But again,
- 18:58Speaker 6: they don't play for the regular seas, and so they're
- 19:00Speaker 6: not pushing guys. If there's a small injury, they're like,
- 19:03Speaker 6: take the ten days. We'll see in ten days.
- 19:05Speaker 4: Right.
- 19:05Speaker 6: That's the whole thing for me, is just that I
- 19:07Speaker 6: don't know if if there's a team that could do
- 19:09Speaker 6: it as the Dodgers. Other than that, I don't know
- 19:11Speaker 6: who else there could get to ninety seven Toronto, but
- 19:17Speaker 6: their division is so tough Toronto, there's not a lot
- 19:20Speaker 6: of free wins.
- 19:20Speaker 5: In that Division's that's the other part is it used
- 19:23Speaker 5: to be like an AL Central NL Central. Could one
- 19:26Speaker 5: of those teams get there just like the Brewers did?
- 19:29Speaker 5: But look at who the Brewers had in their division
- 19:31Speaker 5: last year. Cardinals weren't trying. They're still not trying. The
- 19:34Speaker 5: Pirates are much improved this year. The Cubs are much improved,
- 19:39Speaker 5: and some would say they even kind of underachieved last year.
- 19:43Speaker 5: So and the Reds. Obviously, I'm buying high on the Reds.
- 19:48Speaker 5: So like Nlcentral, that's out AL Central.
- 19:51Speaker 4: You look at it.
- 19:51Speaker 5: The Tigers are good, the Twin you know, there's a
- 19:54Speaker 5: lot of parody mediocrity in that division. But besides, as
- 20:00Speaker 5: the Twins like, are they tanking? The White Sox want
- 20:03Speaker 5: to be better? Are they in the middle of tanking mode? No,
- 20:07Speaker 5: they're just kind of in the middle of we're going
- 20:09Speaker 5: to try harder mode. So to me, that's where you
- 20:12Speaker 5: could see a team maybe winning ninety seven. But I'm
- 20:15Speaker 5: saying that just because just because the Brewers did it
- 20:19Speaker 5: last year, and I remember being on the Brewers when
- 20:21Speaker 5: we won a bunch of games and it was like,
- 20:23Speaker 5: to win that division. You do win, you do have
- 20:26Speaker 5: a chance to win more because you get to play
- 20:29Speaker 5: those cellar dwellers that are in the central.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Both Aj and Eric take any over on the Reds
- 20:34Speaker 1: regular season wins of eighty three and a half. Going
- 20:37Speaker 1: back to the Reds for a hot second, here Todd
- 20:39Speaker 1: Frasier doing a great job at the Reds Fest at
- 20:43Speaker 1: BETMGM poker tournament over the weekend. To take a look
- 20:47Speaker 1: at some of the footage from the events. Look at this, guys. So, Eric,
- 20:54Speaker 1: are you pissed that you weren't able to get to
- 20:58Speaker 1: crush the competition? Did you not you to not participate
- 21:00Speaker 1: in this?
- 21:01Speaker 4: I'm assuming I was not invited. But that's okay.
- 21:05Speaker 5: That's okay, because the biggest thing I'm pissed about, I'm
- 21:08Speaker 5: super I'm super proud of Todd. I mean, fourteenth place,
- 21:12Speaker 5: that's awesome. But to me, I'm pissed because every time
- 21:15Speaker 5: we have an event, Todd shows up for like six
- 21:18Speaker 5: minutes and then he's got to go to like the cheerleading,
- 21:22Speaker 5: jump shot batting practice competition that his kids all have
- 21:26Speaker 5: at the same place, Like one time, Todd, I want
- 21:28Speaker 5: to see you do this fourteenth place at one of
- 21:31Speaker 5: the events that AJ kills, like, come on, come hang
- 21:35Speaker 5: out with the boys for the whole time, not just
- 21:38Speaker 5: look at my home run derby trophy.
- 21:41Speaker 1: So it's a little jealous there, AJ. So Todd was there,
- 21:44Speaker 1: obviously was there, Scott Scott Braun was there. So fourteenth
- 21:49Speaker 1: place finished for Todd out of how many people fifteen? Like,
- 21:52Speaker 1: what are we talking about here?
- 21:53Speaker 2: Well, there was a bunch. I think it was like five.
- 21:55Speaker 2: I wasn't there.
- 21:56Speaker 6: I was I was in the Bahamas all weekend paying attention.
- 22:03Speaker 1: What is fourteenth place get you? How much did Todd win?
- 22:06Speaker 1: Where's he taking us to dinner?
- 22:08Speaker 2: Five hundred bucks? Thousand bucks? I don't know.
- 22:11Speaker 4: I don't know how much it was.
- 22:12Speaker 5: Well, he wanted, he wanted a few years ago, but
- 22:15Speaker 5: he didn't get to keep the cash. So this year
- 22:18Speaker 5: he paid his own entry fee and he kept the cash.
- 22:20Speaker 5: So I don't know what he wont We'll find out
- 22:23Speaker 5: when he comes on the show Crazy Friday. Tune in,
- 22:26Speaker 5: Tune in and subscriber.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Producer said, or that we're going to Sizzler. We're going
- 22:32Speaker 1: to Sizzler.
- 22:33Speaker 2: We're going to see all right, So that a good movie.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Yes, it was.
- 22:40Speaker 2: It was.
- 22:40Speaker 1: It was a phenomenal, phenomenal movie. So good job Todd.
- 22:43Speaker 1: We are incredibly proud of you. All right, guys, So
- 22:45Speaker 1: I just want to read this real quick before we
- 22:47Speaker 1: get to uh stuff coming up after Shake it Up.
- 22:50Speaker 1: The semi finals are here, and whether you're writing on
- 22:53Speaker 1: an upset or hoping the favorite dominates, betting with a
- 22:55Speaker 1: boost makes every playoff moment even more memorable. Activate the
- 22:59Speaker 1: odds Who's token on any college football playoff game and
- 23:02Speaker 1: you'll receive a bigger payout if your bet wins. Gambling
- 23:06Speaker 1: problem or concern called one eight hundred gambler. So here's
- 23:11Speaker 1: the deal. The Peralta situation with the Milwaukee Brewers. Now
- 23:16Speaker 1: the Brewers apparently guys are continuing to field offers on
- 23:19Speaker 1: ace pitcher Freddy Peralta, a free agent after twenty twenty six.
- 23:23Speaker 1: The Yanks, the Mets, the Dodgers, Giants, and Braves, among
- 23:27Speaker 1: many many interested teams. Peralta an eight million dollar salary
- 23:31Speaker 1: means anyone can afford him, including the Brewers, but an
- 23:34Speaker 1: extension is tougher for small markets. AJ does Freddy Peralta
- 23:40Speaker 1: start the season with the Milwaukee Brewers or do you
- 23:42Speaker 1: see him with another team?
- 23:45Speaker 4: I think he starts here with the Brewers.
- 23:47Speaker 6: I think he starts here with the Brewers, and they
- 23:48Speaker 6: see how it goes and if he's tradeable, if they're
- 23:51Speaker 6: out of it or something, which the Brewers never seem
- 23:53Speaker 6: to be, then they trade him. I think this is
- 23:55Speaker 6: closer to the Willia Damas situation from a couple years ago,
- 23:57Speaker 6: where they actually hold.
- 23:58Speaker 2: On to them and play the year out and then
- 24:01Speaker 2: let him leave as a free agent. Because I don't know,
- 24:05Speaker 2: I think it's a little late now.
- 24:06Speaker 6: I mean it can happen, but we're almost a spring
- 24:09Speaker 6: training We're only a couple weeks from spring training now.
- 24:12Speaker 6: This is the kind of move that usually happens earlier
- 24:14Speaker 6: in the offseason to set other free agent moves in plays.
- 24:17Speaker 6: So I think if he gets traded now, it'll happen
- 24:20Speaker 6: in the middle.
- 24:20Speaker 4: Of the season.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Eric he's twenty nine. He's one of only eleven pitchers
- 24:25Speaker 1: to make at least thirty starts in each of the
- 24:28Speaker 1: last three seasons, so the one thing we know about
- 24:31Speaker 1: Freddy Peralta is he posts right, he's a gamer. He's
- 24:33Speaker 1: out there every fifth day. He typically takes the ball
- 24:36Speaker 1: when he is supposed to. Is he a brewer next year?
- 24:41Speaker 4: Man? I guess.
- 24:42Speaker 5: I mean the question is I'm not even gonna go
- 24:45Speaker 5: with I'm just gonna go with my gut.
- 24:47Speaker 4: Yes, I think he's a brewer.
- 24:49Speaker 5: Ultimately, I don't think anybody is going to pay what
- 24:52Speaker 5: it takes to get him, because it's going to be
- 24:56Speaker 5: more than what Corbyn Burns commanded. Corbyn Burns was making
- 25:00Speaker 5: I think twice as much. I think he was making
- 25:02Speaker 5: sixteen million or eighteen million when he was traded to
- 25:06Speaker 5: the Orioles. At the same time, Devin Williams may actually
- 25:09Speaker 5: have been making more than eight million dollars. I'm not
- 25:12Speaker 5: even sure, but I just think that I think the
- 25:14Speaker 5: value is or the ask is going to be too high.
- 25:18Speaker 5: So I don't think it's going to get done. And
- 25:19Speaker 5: you talk about that stat you said about you know
- 25:22Speaker 5: how many people have made thirty starts in the last
- 25:25Speaker 5: four years. You want to know one of those people
- 25:27Speaker 5: that did that. Dylan Cees going and look up going
- 25:32Speaker 5: and look up all of his stats and see where
- 25:36Speaker 5: he was going into his free agent year and compare
- 25:39Speaker 5: him to Freddy Peralta. If you're wondering how much it's
- 25:42Speaker 5: going to take to either extend Freddy Peralta or if
- 25:46Speaker 5: the Orioles trade for him, to re sign him in
- 25:49Speaker 5: the next season, Like, it's just just compare those two
- 25:54Speaker 5: guys and see which one you would want and you
- 25:57Speaker 5: have an idea of what it's going to take to
- 25:59Speaker 5: extend a guy like that if the team of trades
- 26:02Speaker 5: for him wants to extend him.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Yeah, just one of eleven guys to make at least
- 26:06Speaker 1: thirty starts over the course of the last three seasons.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Aj the Brewers, though, they have a history of trading
- 26:10Speaker 1: their top prospects one year before free agency. We saw
- 26:13Speaker 1: it with Corbyn Burns, Devin Williams. Although Peralta his salary
- 26:17Speaker 1: is not crazy, right, I mean eight million, it's a
- 26:19Speaker 1: viable option for the three time defending NL Central champions.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Do they continue with the trend and try to move
- 26:26Speaker 1: him or do you think he's, as we mentioned, back
- 26:29Speaker 1: next year. But why do you think that's kind of
- 26:31Speaker 1: been their their their page of the playbook is kind
- 26:34Speaker 1: of getting rid of these guys before they hit free agency.
- 26:36Speaker 1: They don't want to.
- 26:37Speaker 6: Because they they they try to reload right Alta before
- 26:41Speaker 6: they lose the players. Now, like I said, this one,
- 26:43Speaker 6: to me seems more like the Willia Damas situation where
- 26:46Speaker 6: they let him play the whole year out and then
- 26:48Speaker 6: they let him walk. Freddy's great in the clubhouse. Everybody
- 26:51Speaker 6: loves Freddy. He's always smiling. There's a lot of things
- 26:54Speaker 6: I love about Freddy Peralta, and any team that does
- 26:56Speaker 6: get him, if it's not the Brewers, would be lucky.
- 26:58Speaker 6: That's why I don't think it's going to happen. I
- 27:00Speaker 6: think there's too many moving pieces that and too many
- 27:02Speaker 6: of the free agent guys are now gone right now.
- 27:05Speaker 6: If there's a team out there, I'll use the Mets
- 27:07Speaker 6: as an example that think they need one more starting pitcher.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Zach Gallen. Ain't it maybe you make.
- 27:11Speaker 6: This trade for Freddie Peralta because he's still cheap and
- 27:14Speaker 6: the Mets are a team that can get him there
- 27:15Speaker 6: for a year, figure out if they like him, and
- 27:17Speaker 6: then possibly resign them down the road. So I just
- 27:20Speaker 6: believe that unless it's something big like that, he's going
- 27:23Speaker 6: to be in Milwaukee when the year starts and possibly
- 27:25Speaker 6: maybe get traded, but the Brewers are never out of it,
- 27:27Speaker 6: so maybe they keep them all year and let them
- 27:29Speaker 6: walk like they did with the Damas.
- 27:30Speaker 1: And that's just it, right, the Brewers are never at it.
- 27:32Speaker 1: There's no reason to say that they wouldn't be able
- 27:35Speaker 1: to win the NL Central again. So what would the
- 27:37Speaker 1: benefits to the Brewers eric to get rid of Peralta?
- 27:40Speaker 1: I mean, I think he's more of an addition than
- 27:42Speaker 1: a subtraction.
- 27:44Speaker 5: I mean, obviously they have to thread that window of
- 27:46Speaker 5: wanting to continue to win. And the part that I
- 27:50Speaker 5: really like about what the Brewers have done is they
- 27:53Speaker 5: take less lottery tickets when they're doing these trades. They
- 27:58Speaker 5: go after teams lower levels, you know, longer, longer arbitration
- 28:06Speaker 5: or controllable players that they feel like they can find
- 28:09Speaker 5: value in. Joey Ortiz when they traded for him, third
- 28:14Speaker 5: baseman played a lot of shortstop. Does that mean he
- 28:16Speaker 5: was the best shortstop in the game. Absolutely not, But
- 28:20Speaker 5: they had somebody they could plug right in at third base.
- 28:24Speaker 5: They got dl Hall. That's where you know a lot
- 28:28Speaker 5: of high upside hasn't been able to stay healthy. I
- 28:31Speaker 5: think the Brewers if they trade Freddie p I have
- 28:37Speaker 5: a hard time believing it's not going to be for
- 28:40Speaker 5: somebody who they look at and they say, yes, we
- 28:44Speaker 5: see he strikes out a lot if he's a hitter,
- 28:45Speaker 5: but he's gonna hit some dangers for us, and we
- 28:47Speaker 5: need that slug, you know. I think about like a
- 28:51Speaker 5: Spencer Jones from the Yankees. Do they feel like he
- 28:55Speaker 5: plugs in to a team that steals a lot of bases?
- 28:58Speaker 5: Everybody talks about oh Man out thirty three percent of
- 29:01Speaker 5: the time. He's also a twenty plus stolen base kind
- 29:04Speaker 5: of guy. I think he actually had thirty plus in
- 29:06Speaker 5: the minor leagues. I'd have to look at that. But
- 29:09Speaker 5: you know, do they find that value and say, Okay,
- 29:11Speaker 5: we can figure out who's going to start game one
- 29:16Speaker 5: for us in the playoffs? Like they got big WU,
- 29:18Speaker 5: but you don't know what you're gonna get. Still coming
- 29:20Speaker 5: off of that major shoulder surgery and looked great last
- 29:24Speaker 5: year but then got hurt and wasn't able to pitch
- 29:26Speaker 5: in the playoffs.
- 29:27Speaker 4: So does this hurt their depth? You know?
- 29:29Speaker 5: Do they just want to keep making the playoffs or
- 29:32Speaker 5: do they want to be able to make the playoffs
- 29:34Speaker 5: and win a World Series, and I think if that's
- 29:37Speaker 5: the case, I don't think they can do it without
- 29:39Speaker 5: Freddy P. Can they make the playoffs without always getting
- 29:43Speaker 5: rid of Josh Hater, then Devin Williams, then then Corbyn
- 29:47Speaker 5: Burns now Freddy P. Like, are they going to continue
- 29:50Speaker 5: that and still not win the World Series? At some
- 29:52Speaker 5: point you're like, we got to go all in, even
- 29:55Speaker 5: if it means a step back next year to win
- 29:58Speaker 5: the World Series, because that's what Brewers fans really.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Of course, with some folks say, you know, of course,
- 30:03Speaker 1: at the beginning of every season, the goal is to
- 30:04Speaker 1: win the World Series. I mean, every club all thirty
- 30:07Speaker 1: is going to say that. Do they really mean it? Though?
- 30:09Speaker 1: That's another thing entirely. I mean, I think that the
- 30:12Speaker 1: Brewers will have an opportunity to get to the postseason,
- 30:14Speaker 1: as they've done pretty much every year in the last
- 30:16Speaker 1: ten years. But you keep trading your best players away,
- 30:19Speaker 1: it's kind of hard to do that all right. Back
- 30:20Speaker 1: to Kyle Tucker, obviously known most of the time for
- 30:24Speaker 1: his time with the Houston Astros, now a member of
- 30:27Speaker 1: the Los Angeles Dodgers. Guys, I want to know what
- 30:29Speaker 1: you make of this. An anonymous which is interesting. An
- 30:32Speaker 1: anonymous Cubs staffer on Kyle Tucker's departure, and I quote,
- 30:37Speaker 1: I watched him in the clubhouse. He checks his phone
- 30:40Speaker 1: more than he checks the scouting report. He's got all
- 30:43Speaker 1: the talent in the world, but the motor it's not there.
- 30:46Speaker 1: He's got his bag, and good for him. But if
- 30:49Speaker 1: you're asking me if i'd want him in a fox
- 30:51Speaker 1: hole in game seven, I'd take a rookie who's hungry
- 30:55Speaker 1: over a sixty million dollar guy who looks bored. Now again,
- 31:00Speaker 1: an anonymous staffer, which I don't know, say what you
- 31:02Speaker 1: will about that. That could be anybody. It could be bullshit,
- 31:05Speaker 1: it could be whatever. I don't think it's fair to
- 31:08Speaker 1: have already written the narrative of Kyle Tucker of how
- 31:11Speaker 1: he's going to be in Los Angeles. He's obviously an
- 31:13Speaker 1: incredibly good player. And the reason I say that is
- 31:16Speaker 1: because I do have this from a very good source,
- 31:19Speaker 1: somebody that knows Kyle Tucker incredibly well. And I asked
- 31:23Speaker 1: him about the narrative and whether or not you know
- 31:27Speaker 1: that's fair. He said, good guy, not a bad makeup dude,
- 31:30Speaker 1: good family, just a very low motor. Because he will
- 31:34Speaker 1: thrive in LA because he will not be or he
- 31:37Speaker 1: will be in the shadows. Just not obsessed with the
- 31:39Speaker 1: big leagues. Not everybody is a raw, raw guy. Eric
- 31:43Speaker 1: will start with you on this. In terms of Kyle Tucker,
- 31:45Speaker 1: I asked somebody else that knows him intimately. You know
- 31:48Speaker 1: what he's like and the personality. Okay, maybe warning Trek Dirt,
- 31:52Speaker 1: that's okay. You don't have to be a cheerleader. You
- 31:55Speaker 1: just have to be a good teammate. So what do
- 31:56Speaker 1: you make of this? Anonymous staffer saying that, And I
- 32:01Speaker 1: would imagine that any team that has Kyle Tucker on
- 32:04Speaker 1: it is a better team.
- 32:05Speaker 4: For it one hundred percent. I mean that player is
- 32:10Speaker 4: a very good player. Was Anthony.
- 32:12Speaker 5: Everyone's going to bring up Anthony Rendon? How did that
- 32:14Speaker 5: work out for the Angels. That's where the teams have
- 32:18Speaker 5: to make their they have to make their investigations. They
- 32:23Speaker 5: have to figure that out before they give two hundred
- 32:26Speaker 5: forty dollars or however much Anthony Wrendon got. I'm not
- 32:31Speaker 5: saying he's on that level. I'm saying he has a
- 32:35Speaker 5: low heart rate. Maybe that is helpful for him as
- 32:37Speaker 5: a player. And you know what, Scatting reports aren't for everybody.
- 32:43Speaker 5: You don't have to read scattering reports to be really good,
- 32:47Speaker 5: That's okay. Like some guys who don't read scattered reports
- 32:51Speaker 5: have the memory of an elephant. I remember two years
- 32:53Speaker 5: ago he threw this to me, and you know why
- 32:55Speaker 5: that is because they don't have a lot of scattered
- 32:57Speaker 5: reports jumbled up in his head. Am I afraid that
- 33:01Speaker 5: he's not going to play out his four years with
- 33:04Speaker 5: the Dodgers?
- 33:06Speaker 4: Not at all. Zero. I am not afraid of that
- 33:09Speaker 4: at all.
- 33:09Speaker 5: What I'm afraid of is a freaking clubhouse guy who
- 33:15Speaker 5: is with the Cubs saying, oh, yeah, this is what
- 33:18Speaker 5: I saw. Say your name, say your name say because
- 33:22Speaker 5: the fact that now all these clubhouse guys, all these
- 33:25Speaker 5: players are going to go into Chicago, they're going to
- 33:28Speaker 5: go into spring training, they're going to go into they're
- 33:30Speaker 5: going to go into the season, and be like, what
- 33:33Speaker 5: was that the guy?
- 33:35Speaker 4: Was he the one?
- 33:37Speaker 5: This that is a to me, that's a sacred area
- 33:40Speaker 5: that if you're a clubhouse guy and you're judging me
- 33:44Speaker 5: based on the one season I played in Chicago, I
- 33:49Speaker 5: have a tough time you saying something about somebody. I
- 33:52Speaker 5: really do now should somebody call a clubhouse guy and
- 33:55Speaker 5: be like, Hey, what kind of tipper is he? What
- 33:57Speaker 5: kind of not what kind of preparation? And does he do?
- 34:00Speaker 5: How is he prepared? Did he follow him to the
- 34:04Speaker 5: video room? Did he follow him to the cage. I
- 34:07Speaker 5: know there's a lot of guys who will go to
- 34:08Speaker 5: the cage and be like, hey, who are we facing today?
- 34:11Speaker 5: And I'm sitting there.
- 34:11Speaker 8: Like, oh my gosh, I just freaking I just freaking
- 34:15Speaker 8: watched every one of their relievers. I watched three of
- 34:18Speaker 8: the last four starts of the starter we're facing, and
- 34:21Speaker 8: I'm hitting ninth. I might get one or two at
- 34:23Speaker 8: bats against him. And one of the stars goes, who
- 34:27Speaker 8: are we facing today? What's he got? And did the
- 34:31Speaker 8: clubhouse guy see that? Does he know what makes his
- 34:34Speaker 8: motor run?
- 34:35Speaker 4: Actually?
- 34:36Speaker 5: Or was he in the clubhouse and like I want
- 34:39Speaker 5: to relax, I might see what's on my phone. That's okay,
- 34:44Speaker 5: that's okay. It doesn't make him not a good player,
- 34:48Speaker 5: no doubt.
- 34:49Speaker 1: I mean, aj, Not everyone's built the same way, not
- 34:51Speaker 1: everyone preps the same way. Not everybody is incentivized or
- 34:55Speaker 1: motivated the same way.
- 34:57Speaker 6: Agreed, Listen, I wasn't a big scouting report guy at all.
- 35:00Speaker 6: I didn't watch a lot of video. I just kind
- 35:02Speaker 6: of was like, I didn't watch every reliever before they
- 35:05Speaker 6: came into pitch. I'm like, all right, they're bringing in
- 35:07Speaker 6: a reliever and left you let me guess he has
- 35:09Speaker 6: a slider. He's gonna throw me at some point.
- 35:13Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm facing a right handed starter that day.
- 35:16Speaker 6: Who is it? Okay, well, they have one pitch that
- 35:17Speaker 6: I might need to be worried about. I might be like, okay,
- 35:20Speaker 6: when does he throw it? So I don't swing at it?
- 35:22Speaker 6: But I wasn't a huge scouting report. What to get
- 35:25Speaker 6: your mind mumbled and jumbled with all this stuff, And
- 35:28Speaker 6: then you get up there and you're like, oh, I'm frozen.
- 35:30Speaker 6: I can't swing because he was supposed to throw me
- 35:31Speaker 6: the one one change up, but instead he threw me
- 35:34Speaker 6: a fastball right down the middle. Like just react. And
- 35:37Speaker 6: if that's the way Kyle Tucker goes about it, great,
- 35:40Speaker 6: But he hasn't affected him because you know what he
- 35:42Speaker 6: when he's healthy, he puts up numbers, he plays, he's
- 35:45Speaker 6: great in the outfield. He'll do he steals bases for you, Like,
- 35:48Speaker 6: what do you want? I mean and by the way,
- 35:51Speaker 6: one thing I hate more Thannathy forget anonymous. Put your
- 35:55Speaker 6: name on it. Okay, anonymous person in the Cubs organization,
- 35:59Speaker 6: because you know what you want to look You want
- 36:01Speaker 6: to look cool, and you want to look cool. Excuse
- 36:05Speaker 6: me by saying something about somebody who just left your
- 36:08Speaker 6: organization for the Dodgers.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Okay, you want to look.
- 36:11Speaker 6: Cool, you want to be like, we didn't want him anyways,
- 36:13Speaker 6: because you know he looked at his phone too much.
- 36:17Speaker 6: Have you been in a clubhouse lately? Have you watched
- 36:20Speaker 6: an NFL playoff game? Have you watched an NBA game?
- 36:23Speaker 6: Have you watched a hockey game?
- 36:24Speaker 2: Any sport?
- 36:25Speaker 6: When they show the locker room view, every single guy
- 36:29Speaker 6: is on their phone, every one of them. So every
- 36:31Speaker 6: guy is on their phone too much. Like, come on, like,
- 36:34Speaker 6: put your name on it. And if you're whoever, whatever
- 36:37Speaker 6: position you are in the organization, if you felt this way,
- 36:40Speaker 6: then why don't you say it before he signed? Because
- 36:42Speaker 6: if you were to resigned with the Cubs, guess what
- 36:44Speaker 6: you would have been like, he's a great guy.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Da da da da da. He's great because he doesn't
- 36:47Speaker 2: look at a lot of scouting reports. Save it. Whoever
- 36:50Speaker 2: said this save it.
- 36:52Speaker 5: Hey, if a club came out was like, hey, he's
- 36:56Speaker 5: not a good tipper, then I'd be like, okay, okay,
- 36:59Speaker 5: you know what. That's that's fine, Like this guy didn't
- 37:01Speaker 5: give me a good tip, you're mad about that. And
- 37:04Speaker 5: the other part was the end of his com was
- 37:06Speaker 5: the end of the comment where he said I'd rather
- 37:09Speaker 5: I'd rather have a rookie any day. That might be
- 37:13Speaker 5: one of the more tired statements in baseball. The guy,
- 37:18Speaker 5: you know, the guy who's like, I'll take nine of
- 37:20Speaker 5: these players and I'll win. No, No, you're just gonna
- 37:24Speaker 5: have a bunch of guys who are gonna have a
- 37:25Speaker 5: dirty uniform at the end of the day and the
- 37:28Speaker 5: end of the season. They're gonna do nice. They're gonna
- 37:30Speaker 5: be nice. They're not gonna be a good team. When
- 37:32Speaker 5: you go to the big leagues, you have a small,
- 37:34Speaker 5: finite window to win baseball games. For some people's career,
- 37:39Speaker 5: it's a year. For AJ's career, it's nineteen years. You
- 37:43Speaker 5: want to win every single year. You want the best
- 37:45Speaker 5: players out there. You do not want a rookie who
- 37:49Speaker 5: is not better than Kyle Tucker just because he's.
- 37:53Speaker 4: Ready to go give me the baseball.
- 37:56Speaker 5: I'm gonna run through a wall. You know I can
- 37:58Speaker 5: run through a wall and do like two forty Like
- 38:02Speaker 5: I tried my best. I was a two zero nine hitter.
- 38:04Speaker 5: Nobody I read all the scating reports. I was not
- 38:08Speaker 5: on my phone because I didn't feel like I could
- 38:11Speaker 5: do those things to be able to play the little
- 38:14Speaker 5: bit that I played in the big leagues. AJ Prazinski
- 38:18Speaker 5: was and still is a better baseball player than I am.
- 38:21Speaker 5: Kyle Tucker is still better than any rookie that is
- 38:24Speaker 5: getting called up this year. I would have a tough
- 38:27Speaker 5: time believing that when he goes to the Dodgers this year,
- 38:30Speaker 5: or if he would have come back to the Cubs,
- 38:33Speaker 5: that a rookie is going to have a better season
- 38:35Speaker 5: than he will. And so I have that to me,
- 38:37Speaker 5: that is a hard that's a hard thing to hear
- 38:39Speaker 5: at the big league level. Do you want guys on
- 38:42Speaker 5: your team that play hard, work hard, do everything that can? Absolutely,
- 38:47Speaker 5: But Kyle Tucker's still better than them.
- 38:49Speaker 4: And that's okay.
- 38:50Speaker 1: I mean enough for nothing. If you're the Los Angeles Dodgers,
- 38:52Speaker 1: or if you're if you're any team and you're about
- 38:55Speaker 1: to give a guy a four year, two hundred and
- 38:57Speaker 1: forty million dollars deal, and you're gonna pay him six
- 39:00Speaker 1: million dollars a year. Don't you think they've done some
- 39:02Speaker 1: fact checking about some character analysis and uh have done
- 39:06Speaker 1: anything to think, you know what, is he gonna fit well?
- 39:08Speaker 1: And the Dodgers don't need Kyle Tucker. The Dodgers wanted
- 39:12Speaker 1: Kyle Tucker because it makes them better. But if the
- 39:14Speaker 1: Dodgers didn't get Kyle Tucker, they're still gonna be fine.
- 39:18Speaker 1: So it's just ridiculous to me this narrative surrounding him.
- 39:22Speaker 1: Obviously he's a coveted player. He doesn't have to be.
- 39:26Speaker 1: Not everybody has the personality of a jazz Chisholm junior
- 39:31Speaker 1: that wants to be in the spotlight, that wants to
- 39:33Speaker 1: you know, that's an animated guy that goes about things
- 39:36Speaker 1: that way right, And.
- 39:39Speaker 5: Not every not every move that the Dodgers make is gold.
- 39:42Speaker 5: They have signed free agents that are.
- 39:46Speaker 6: At Canfordo Conforido last year didn't work out, didn't work
- 39:51Speaker 6: out right, But that's fine.
- 39:53Speaker 2: They don't all work I mean, but.
- 39:57Speaker 6: Anything that just pisses me off is the anonymous don't
- 40:00Speaker 6: don't don't don't say anonymous.
- 40:03Speaker 2: Don't be anyou don't be anonymous.
- 40:04Speaker 6: Okay, if you got something to say about a guy,
- 40:07Speaker 6: just say it and then figure it out afterwards. If
- 40:09Speaker 6: he wants to fight you, then you fight. But if
- 40:11Speaker 6: he doesn't, and maybe then someone can come and defend him.
- 40:14Speaker 6: Notice nobody went to Kyle Tucker and asked him how
- 40:17Speaker 6: he felt about this anonymous source.
- 40:19Speaker 2: Why didn't someone go to Kyle Tucker and ask him
- 40:20Speaker 2: how he feels?
- 40:21Speaker 6: Because then you don't get a story, and then you
- 40:23Speaker 6: don't get the clicks, and then you don't get us
- 40:25Speaker 6: talking about it on Falter
