- 0:10What does the nanny do? OK, so we're done.
- 0:13Goodbye. You shut it off.
- 0:17Do not twist my words. Do not.
- 0:19Make me a victim, sweetie. Just look at the mountain.
- 0:22That's what you saw that day. Just the knife in the kidneys
- 0:27over all these years and the sacrifices that I made to love
- 0:32you. Welcome back, Amber.
- 0:49Hi. You decided to join me again.
- 0:51I didn't scare you too much in our first episode, not too.
- 0:55Bad. No.
- 0:56Are you ready for season 4 Episode 2 Polygamous Date Night?
- 1:02Beyond ready. Oh, it's gonna, you know, 'cause
- 1:05there's so many wild highs and lows that I hope that you were
- 1:09buckled in while watching the episode.
- 1:11Oh definitely. Yep, Yep, Yep, Yep.
- 1:14Had my little headset on and everything.
- 1:17I was right along for that flight.
- 1:19Oh oh wow. Headset.
- 1:21Wow. Little foreshadowing.
- 1:23Yeah, right, Right. So the episode opens with Kody
- 1:27at Robbins giving everyone an update about how he got a
- 1:30convertible, a Nissan convertible as a bonus at work
- 1:34because they're working for a marketing company.
- 1:37Yeah, due to his marketing job. Right, I was curious what Kody
- 1:43does and how he makes money. They don't really address it in
- 1:48much detail. No.
- 1:50At one point in time I feel like he sold guns and gun accessories
- 1:54like at conventions or gun shows.
- 1:57Like he was probably like the loophole king or something.
- 1:59Oh. My gosh.
- 2:00But as far as marketing, I don't really know what that means
- 2:04other than maybe Hawking some mid level marketing scheme or
- 2:08something. I have no idea what it would be.
- 2:10I feel like at this point in the show, they're making good money
- 2:14or he is making good money of the show.
- 2:18And I think that's very apparent during this episode.
- 2:22There's a huge shift in the way that they are living their lives
- 2:28and I would assume that most of his income is now coming from
- 2:34the show. Yeah, agreed.
- 2:36So I think even their references to other yeah, the references to
- 2:40other jobs and their things. Kind of phony, a kind of a cover
- 2:43because they don't want really want them breaking that like 3rd
- 2:46wall like, oh, now we don't have normal lives because of the
- 2:50show. They don't really want people to
- 2:52know that. Yeah, that car though, what in
- 2:55the hell color is it? What color is it?
- 2:58Rose gold, Copper. Yeah.
- 3:01Never in my life have I seen a car this color.
- 3:04No, it is literally between rose gold and copper.
- 3:08It's hideous. It's not an attractive color.
- 3:11No. And you hear rose gold and you
- 3:13think it'd be pretty. No, No, no, no, no, my friends.
- 3:16No, we're not talking about like a Bentley.
- 3:18That's like a beautiful color. We're talking about a Nissan.
- 3:22So it looks a little bit like a pregnant Skittle, too.
- 3:24It's one of those cars that's like, you know, a little too
- 3:27short. Yeah, so it's like bulbous
- 3:30looking. It's odd.
- 3:31And it's like, oh, it's supposed to be a convertible.
- 3:33It's supposed to be like a sports car.
- 3:34It's like it looks like a squished normal car that has a
- 3:38convertible top. Yeah.
- 3:39And of course, that's another convertible, right.
- 3:42Well. Kody does need his convertible.
- 3:44He's got to have his hair wafting in the wind when he
- 3:47drives. Makes him feel like a real man.
- 3:50Yeah, when Meri cracks a joke about that, like the top can be
- 3:53down dependent on the weather and dependent on the wife, and
- 3:56then she's like, yeah, that's for Meri.
- 4:00Chuckle where it's like, oh honey, she thinks she's so funny
- 4:06and I think she's so cute when she laughs like that.
- 4:10She's just so pretty. So after we get this
- 4:15introduction to the new convertible, Kody shows up at
- 4:18Meri's house and he says it's important that he has a date
- 4:23night with each of his wives because they have independent
- 4:25relationships, you know? Well, and he makes a comment
- 4:29too, saying that he feels like with this distance between the
- 4:33houses that he is in four monogamous relationships but has
- 4:39one big family. He makes some weird comment and
- 4:44it kind of just calls attention to the separation that is going
- 4:49on between the families and the wives.
- 4:51Right now, yeah, they're definitely living in four
- 4:55separate houses. Kody says he's going to take
- 4:58Meri skiing, all for their date. So OK, the title of the episode,
- 5:03I know I got a little bit ahead of myself with making sure that
- 5:07Kimber was here of her own volition and her own free will.
- 5:10The title of the episode is Polygamous Date Night.
- 5:13Now, also, we had to search on like, Roku, not Roku, but on the
- 5:19TV for the episode and purchase it.
- 5:23So it was not on Discovery Plus if you're not able to see it on
- 5:26your streaming service, that was our same experience, but we
- 5:29could purchase it individually. My assumption is that that means
- 5:34something in the rights. Maybe it was some music they
- 5:36used. Some licensing.
- 5:38Some licensing issue, and so if you pay to rent it, then they'll
- 5:41pass along the 15 cents or whatever the residual, yes, but
- 5:45they're not going to put it on streaming, which I was a little
- 5:48disappointed with because I thought that meant that
- 5:50something dramatic must happen in the episode.
- 5:52I thought so too. I was like, maybe they're trying
- 5:54to put this one under wraps for some reason, make it harder to
- 5:58be accessible for people. But.
- 6:00Yeah, but if that was the case, then it would just be like, why?
- 6:03Because of Meri and Christine's conversation?
- 6:06Who knows? Yeah, there's no point.
- 6:08Yeah. After Kody talks about taking
- 6:10Meri skiing, he kind of goes into this background where he
- 6:12reviews how they got married very young.
- 6:15This is like the millionth time and we're only in Season 4 where
- 6:18there's this oh, we got married very young, 19.
- 6:21And 22 we were very. Young and we didn't know
- 6:23anything. We were very young and we didn't
- 6:24know anything and we were very young and we didn't know
- 6:27anything and we were very young and we didn't know anything.
- 6:29Like, got it, We got it. You were young.
- 6:32Yeah, and he keeps bringing up about how this was a promise he
- 6:36made to her 22 years ago. 22 years.
- 6:39Ago that they would go skiing one day.
- 6:42Which is funny because they've always lived out West too, so
- 6:45they've they had 22 years of opportunities to go skiing.
- 6:48One of the easiest promises to realize, yes.
- 6:53They probably only had like small drives to go to get to any
- 6:56ski resort or option anywhere they've lived.
- 6:59Yeah, very weird. Very strange, but you know,
- 7:02Kody, he's got to keep his promises even after 22 years.
- 7:06They fight, they arrive at the ski, so they ride ski slopes.
- 7:10They arrive at the ski club. Did you catch the name of it?
- 7:15No. Yeah, I didn't think about.
- 7:18Right now, no, I don't think it mattered.
- 7:20It was by a hill and they had snow, so there was a ski slope
- 7:24where they were able to go skiing.
- 7:26Kody trying to get Meri into now.
- 7:27This is just so great. So if you haven't seen the show,
- 7:32I'm hoping you've seen a photo of Meri.
- 7:36Meri does remind me of the kind of person where, yeah, it's
- 7:39going to be a struggle to get those ski boots on.
- 7:41It's going to be a struggle to get those skis on.
- 7:43It's going to be a struggle to just stand up.
- 7:47I can't say that with too much hate in my heart, because I'm
- 7:51similar. I've only been skiing once in my
- 7:54life and I had a hard time going down the Bunny hill.
- 7:57I was in high school and I had a hard time going down the Bunny
- 8:00hill because there wasn't enough momentum.
- 8:01And so I was like, Oh my God, this is going to be terrible.
- 8:04And then when I went down the first like green hill or
- 8:06whatever the levels are, I was like, oh, I can do this.
- 8:09Like once you have some momentum behind you, it's a little easier
- 8:12for someone uncoordinated like myself.
- 8:15And I feel like Meri's similar, but except for no, she's not any
- 8:18better with any momentum, but she's just, you know, was
- 8:21struggling to, it looked like a skier.
- 8:24It was painful to watch. At one point she just goes right
- 8:28into a random large rock pile that's on the side of the hills.
- 8:32Yes, just this like random quarry on the side of the hill
- 8:37and she just goes right into it. She does start going down these
- 8:41slopes. It's very apparent that she
- 8:43doesn't know how to stop or steer or do anything.
- 8:46And as you said, what ran through my mind was like, why
- 8:50she found a patch of rocks. One patch of rocks just out of
- 8:53nowhere. Election of rocks and Meri's
- 8:55like, like right into them. And in my mind, I'm screaming
- 8:59pie, pie, pie. Anyone who has ever skied or not
- 9:03even skied knows about pie, where you put the tips of your
- 9:07skis together in a pie shape. I'm fairly certain that anyone
- 9:11who even knows about skiing in general has heard the term pie.
- 9:16Do you think it's mentioned once at all?
- 9:17Before this point, no. No, no, no.
- 9:21We don't hear that at all until the handsome ski patrol man
- 9:25comes to give her assistance. Yes, he stops to give her some
- 9:28pointers on how to stop. And tells her about π Pi, the
- 9:32first rule of skiing. Sign, sign cosine sign 3.14159
- 9:37That is π to me. 3.14159 I understand that it is a skiing
- 9:42term. And yeah, I guess I do know
- 9:45that. And I'm not a skier, so you
- 9:47know. Yeah, Kody just kept saying dig
- 9:50it in. Yeah, dig it in.
- 9:53You got saying that over and over again.
- 9:54It's like she doesn't know what you mean.
- 9:57And then also he wouldn't let go of her.
- 9:59Right, she should. Let go she was.
- 10:02Like let go of me. He was a hanging on to her as
- 10:05they were going down the hill, and they're catching up speed.
- 10:08Yeah. And he's like holding on to her
- 10:10coat. That would make it hard for
- 10:12anybody. It's not helpful.
- 10:14You're not teaching her at that. Point I know I was just
- 10:16imagining the feeling of that like being like I'm I'm just
- 10:20trying to get this down and being on me is not helping.
- 10:24Oh, I'd be so freaked out because the way he was holding
- 10:26her too, you could tell he was pulling like pressure downwards,
- 10:30like kind of on her, almost like in a skating rink when someone
- 10:33tries to grab you when they're going to fall.
- 10:35That's like the feeling I got watching it.
- 10:37It was hard. Yeah, she's having a hard time
- 10:40keeping her body in a position of which you even would when
- 10:44you're skiing at all, because she's Meri.
- 10:46Meri, quite contrary. And he's pulling her forward and
- 10:52down. Yes, so uncomfortable.
- 10:54So uncomfortable. As this is happening, I'm also
- 10:57noticing, I'm like, Meri doesn't do a single slalom.
- 11:01She doesn't do. She doesn't know how to turn.
- 11:04She doesn't know anything. She's just trying to stay
- 11:07upright. And Kody's like, let's go.
- 11:09And it's like, Oh my God, Kody, right?
- 11:12If you got James from ski patrol checking in on you regularly,
- 11:15there might be a problem. Yeah, James.
- 11:18Oh, good old James. And of course, Meri does take a
- 11:21tumble. Meri's got to take a tumble.
- 11:25And as she well, of course, they have to do the production edit
- 11:28where it's like they break her fall into multiple takes and
- 11:32like show other things like as if it was like, you know, the
- 11:35biggest tumble you've ever seen. Make it look really bad.
- 11:37You know, she did fall over. It looked like her skis flew.
- 11:41And she says I felt something popping my knee.
- 11:44She says she heard a pop. Yeah, heard a pop.
- 11:47Heard a pop. The witch I have had knee
- 11:50surgery before. I have heard plenty of pop from
- 11:54these old knees. From the old rickety knees.
- 11:58Oh, so like, as soon as she said she heard a pop, I was like,
- 12:02like meniscus, like something. Yeah, this is going to be
- 12:06wonderful, you know. I thought, oh, Meri, she's so
- 12:09fucking dramatic. But you know, I've also, I've
- 12:13never heard a pop in my knees. Thank God.
- 12:16Yeah, I'm such a young man, very spry, very athletic.
- 12:20So I'm just so glad that hasn't happened because my dad had some
- 12:24knee issue in his like late 20s, I think he was knee boarding
- 12:28behind a boat, you know, and then like let go and flipped
- 12:32over and fucked up his knee. And it's been fucked up his
- 12:34whole. It never is the same.
- 12:35It's. Never the same.
- 12:37I unfortunately was born with crooked kneecaps so they
- 12:39dislocate on their own all the time, which is really fun.
- 12:42Oh. I'm going to make you listen to
- 12:45my knees one day. I'm going to make you listen to
- 12:48what they just sound like on a regular basis, and you're going
- 12:50to be disgusted by me. Well, maybe that's what we'll
- 12:53put on our Patreon is some knee sounds.
- 12:55Some ASMR knee sounds, grinding and popping.
- 12:59You can hear Kimber's knees popping and rattling.
- 13:04It might be some people's thing. You never know all.
- 13:06Those rattling knees. Very sexy, very sexy.
- 13:11After Meri takes her tumble, Kody tries to offer her medical
- 13:14assistance, but because he's not competent, it makes no sense.
- 13:18Of course, you know, he's like, does it hurt here?
- 13:20Does this do whatever? And he's totally doing that
- 13:22thing where he's, like, squeezing her legs and doing
- 13:24whatever. And it's like, what are you
- 13:25going to determine over her pants and her snow pants and
- 13:28snow pants? He is so ridiculous.
- 13:33Well, and the one thing that I was thinking too, if you really
- 13:39fucked up your knee and you're wearing those big ski boots that
- 13:43clip into the skis, you're not walking straight.
- 13:47You kind of walk like an ostrich or something, like you can't
- 13:50really straighten your legs. It's very odd in general.
- 13:55So I was like, get her ski boot off.
- 13:57Yeah. And I'm, I'm wondering, I don't
- 13:59know that we see any footage of them getting to the table at the
- 14:02lodge. No, I I don't think so.
- 14:05Pick her up and carry her across that threshold.
- 14:07Kody, what is wrong with you? Maybe he did.
- 14:09If he did that, we would have seen it.
- 14:12It would have been like. They would have.
- 14:13Made a thing Kody go. It would have been a whole
- 14:20production they would have had to use like special effects Oh
- 14:23yeah the whole 9 yards So let's see that happen let's say Kody
- 14:27gracefully carried his wife. Who?
- 14:29In our version of this. Yes, he carries her.
- 14:32Our big strongman Kody carries her to a table by the lodge.
- 14:37This is where James shows up, our EMT friend.
- 14:39He comes back to the rescue because Kody can't do anything.
- 14:42So we have to have a rely on. This is the kindness of
- 14:45strangers. Yes, James from Ski Patrol.
- 14:49So James pulls up and asks her, what is your pain?
- 14:53Out of one to 10? And she says a six.
- 14:55Yeah. And I don't know what a six
- 14:57means. It's kind of who knows?
- 15:00It's very. Subjective.
- 15:02I hate when they ask that question.
- 15:04Well, because unless you're going to say like an 8 or A9 or
- 15:06A1 or A2, it's kind of like, what does A6 mean?
- 15:09Yeah, like what is a six? Oh, it's just a little bit above
- 15:12a five. Well, what would a 5 be?
- 15:13Like what are you even talking about?
- 15:15And it's different for women. I feel like 2 who have kids and
- 15:19I have a very high pain tolerance.
- 15:21So what could be like a 910 for somebody, it could be like a
- 15:25four or five for me. I'm not even kidding.
- 15:28So when they asked me that when I'm in the at the doctor's
- 15:31office, I'm like, yeah, that does.
- 15:33That's not going to mean anything.
- 15:35So. Well, and if you said a six, I
- 15:37would be like, well, Kimber, what is a six like?
- 15:39What's a six like? I would just be like, what is a
- 15:40six? But.
- 15:41I digress. Yes, because James is a perfect
- 15:44gentleman. He suggests that they take a
- 15:47visit to the emergency room. He said if this was my wife and
- 15:50this happened to her, I would take her to the emergency room.
- 15:53And I'm sure the entire time Kody's going like, are you
- 15:55fucking kidding? I can't.
- 15:57We don't even have health insurance.
- 15:58What am I going to do? Oh my.
- 15:59Gosh, I was wondering if you thought that that was staged,
- 16:06like the ski patrol guy coming back over to the table to like,
- 16:10assess her and make it seem super dramatic.
- 16:13I wonder in instances like that what the production is doing and
- 16:18like pulling him in. And maybe they even pulled him
- 16:20in the first time too, for the attention in the little lesson.
- 16:25Little lessons with James. Little lessons with James.
- 16:28I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was complete bullshit and
- 16:31just for the camera. And this is the other thing like
- 16:35Meri, Meri, Meri. OK, so Meri's the kind of girl
- 16:40who like had a note to get out of everything.
- 16:42I feel like Meri maybe Malcolm, maybe that's maybe that's not
- 16:46true. We'll talk a little bit more
- 16:48about Meri and her injury. And it goes through the episode.
- 16:51So I don't want to. I don't want to blow my load too
- 16:53early about. Yeah, this continues on
- 16:55throughout the episode. They get inside and they're
- 16:58sitting by the fire. Now they're sitting.
- 17:01They're sitting by the fire and Meri asks if you'd like to go
- 17:04back down the hill again, slowly.
- 17:06And I'm going like, girl, you're going to offer this after you
- 17:10couldn't even walk, right? Like, yeah, this is what I'm
- 17:12saying. Like, I don't believe her.
- 17:14I don't believe that it's a six. I don't even believe that she
- 17:16hurt her knee pop, to be honest. I think she's just like, I
- 17:19really need attention. And Kody was whipping me down
- 17:22the hill, so I had to do something.
- 17:23Or maybe she was just was done. Maybe she didn't want to do it
- 17:26anymore so she pretended like she was hurt.
- 17:28Because skiing is, it takes a lot of really weird muscles in
- 17:33your legs that if you haven't used those muscles in a long
- 17:36time, even for people who do ski regularly, the first time you go
- 17:39out of the season, your legs are sore.
- 17:42Like so sore. So maybe she just was tired and
- 17:46wanted to be done. I could totally see that, yeah.
- 17:48There's just something about Meri's injuries here.
- 17:52Yeah, that I'm not buying with 100% certainty.
- 17:55Now, we would never suggest that Meri would fake it.
- 17:58Never. But she probably is faking it.
- 18:01They have some spotlight moments, some interview moments,
- 18:05and Meri's giving Kody a hard time because he wasn't very
- 18:08romantic with his engagement. She lets us know that they were
- 18:12engaged on Christmas Eve and they had their first kiss on New
- 18:16Year's Eve. And both were not great.
- 18:19And no, both were not romantic. And he says I was a novice.
- 18:23Oh God. Like, oh Yep, now you've had so
- 18:25much practice proposing with your 4 wives.
- 18:28Yep. So you were a novice with the
- 18:30first one. Yeah.
- 18:31Robyn gets all the good stuff. He says that he goes, Robyn got
- 18:34spoiled because of all of his practice with other wives.
- 18:37And Meri goes, oh, Robyn, Robyn all about Robyn.
- 18:42That was an icky moment. It was like Kody put his foot in
- 18:45his mouth, like shut up please. And I'm guessing because Kody's
- 18:49only sexual experiences before Meri were with men, he probably
- 18:53didn't have to worry about these things.
- 18:55It was like, you know, I'm never going to have to propose to
- 18:57Billy here after you suck my Dick.
- 18:59We're doing something sinful and we're never going to discuss it
- 19:01again. Allegedly.
- 19:03Allegedly. Allegedly.
- 19:07So then we do get a little discussion about their wedding
- 19:10because we always have to go back and talk about their
- 19:12fucking wedding. Show the footage like the same.
- 19:14Same footage we've seen a million times.
- 19:17Them in like a gym. Meri says it was a private
- 19:20ceremony, but they had many guests for the reception in this
- 19:23gym where you can throw a big party.
- 19:26Yeah, it looks like a high school.
- 19:28We at all like, Oh my God, I would have an audio breakdown.
- 19:32I would not be able to deal. I would be like everyone needs
- 19:34to shut up. Well, I wouldn't have my
- 19:36weddings perception in a gym. So no, I don't know what that
- 19:39means. They talk about feeding each
- 19:42other the cake and how Meri bit his fingers and she makes a
- 19:48comment about, Oh yes, there's always a little bit of finger
- 19:52biting with the cake sharing at a wedding.
- 19:54And I'm like, in what world? What world are you living in?
- 19:58That's like, yeah, that's weird. Definitely some polygamous magic
- 20:03there. We don't know what to do right
- 20:05now. This is what we think is sexy,
- 20:09Yeah. He's like, I'm going to shove
- 20:10this cake in your face. And she literally bit his finger
- 20:13because he shoved like more than one finger in her mouth.
- 20:15And it was like, none of this is cute.
- 20:18Like, yeah, I don't know. Did your husband shove cake in
- 20:21your face on your wedding night? No, we didn't even feed each
- 20:23other a bite of our cake. I I hate that tradition.
- 20:28And the men that shove the cake in the wife's face, there's a
- 20:32special spot in hell for them. It really is like your partner
- 20:39spent all that time doing their hair, their makeup, and you're
- 20:42going to shove cake in their face.
- 20:45You can fuck right off. That is the start to a bad
- 20:48marriage. If you do that to your wife
- 20:52after she explicitly tells you not to.
- 20:54Or you're a smart man and you just know that she wouldn't like
- 20:59it, but you still do it. Rotten Hell, that's all I got to
- 21:02say. And he was wearing a white.
- 21:07Tuxedo. Yep, they were both wearing
- 21:09white. Virginal white.
- 21:10Now, how do you feel about men wearing white in a heterosexual?
- 21:14Oh, I mean, I feel like because it's Kody Brown, it's just very
- 21:18showboaty. Like, you know, is like Elvis
- 21:22and Vegas vibes. Like he just wants to be the
- 21:24center of attention. It feels like a red flag to me
- 21:28and a sign that he's self involved and needs to share the
- 21:33spotlight. And I'm not saying I I'll
- 21:35probably get flak for that. The wedding day is about the man
- 21:39and the woman in a heterosexual relationship there.
- 21:42It's not just about the woman. I get that.
- 21:45But if you're trying to like outshine your partner on that
- 21:50day or like be on the same level when you should have hard eyes
- 21:55and be like, Oh my God, I've never seen you look so beautiful
- 21:58in your life. And now we match.
- 22:01And I just feel like there's a weird narcissism with a lot of
- 22:08men that wear white to their weddings.
- 22:10And from what I've seen, whenever a man wears white to
- 22:13his wedding, it ends in divorce. 99.9% for sure don't now I.
- 22:22Don't quote me on that either. I agree with you because like
- 22:25particularly in heterosexual weddings, I mean, there is an
- 22:29element of like it's kind of the bride's day.
- 22:32It's not just the bride's day. And I think it's important that
- 22:35you said that. I mean, it is about a union of
- 22:37two people. But really, like, if you're if
- 22:40you think you need to be at the same shine level as your new
- 22:44wife, that's just weird. But it's weird.
- 22:49And Kody, there's so much about the narcissism bit as we know.
- 22:53Another thing that I think we learn about later in the series
- 22:56is about how he's saying at their wedding, he's saying a
- 23:00song by bread, I will give everything I own or something.
- 23:05And it's funny, I put it on the My Sister Wives podcast playlist
- 23:09on Spotify. But it's weird to get up and
- 23:12sing in a gymnasium at your own wedding.
- 23:13Like, what does that even mean? I mean, it's not like he's a
- 23:16singer. He's just a showboat.
- 23:17I'm a singer and I did think about recording a version of me
- 23:24singing my song down the aisle. And then I was like, Nah, girl,
- 23:27that's too much. That's like icky.
- 23:28I mean, I would have to pick on you for that.
- 23:30I, I didn't do it because I, I know better and I checked myself
- 23:34before I wrecked myself. OK, OK.
- 23:37And I did get really drunk at my reception and end up singing a
- 23:41song and using the microphone. But by that point, everyone was
- 23:45just having a good time. And then my brother-in-law also
- 23:48sang a song and we just were having fun with it actually
- 23:52being dead serious. Yeah.
- 23:54And. Singing.
- 23:55A song standing there with the mic.
- 23:57Yeah. Like.
- 23:58Dinner's coming. I'm going to sing us a song.
- 24:00And there's no alcohol involved. No, these people are sober,
- 24:03sober, sober, biting each other's hands, shoving food in
- 24:07each other's faces, wearing white tuxedos and singing at
- 24:10one's own wedding. It's all just like giving me
- 24:13very like high school, Oh, very first kiss like, oh, you bite
- 24:18their lip because you think it's sexy and you bite it too hard
- 24:21and you're like, what the fuck was that?
- 24:23And you're both confused the whole.
- 24:26Is there a story you wanted to share around that, Kimber?
- 24:30Oh God. I mean, I was a natural of
- 24:31course, but I did need to slow my roll a bit.
- 24:35You get a little too eager. They do go into, you know, the
- 24:38different levels of like severity with the Mormon like
- 24:42traditions. And yeah.
- 24:45The fundamentalist like no kissing, no touching, nothing.
- 24:50You have a chaperone for your dates, so it does make a lot of
- 24:54sense that it would be like that at their wedding.
- 24:57And it's painful to watch. It will just.
- 24:59Yeah. It doesn't make it any less
- 25:00awkward and we are forced to see this footage time after time
- 25:05after time with this show. And again.
- 25:08One thing that Kody says that I feel like is worth pointing out
- 25:12is we were high on life and young in love.
- 25:15And I'm like, OK, Kody, you were high on life and young and in
- 25:19love. You said that about Meri right
- 25:21here in this episode. So in the future when he's like,
- 25:25I never loved these women, it's like, no, no, no, no, no.
- 25:29You spent years talking about being in love with them.
- 25:31And if you were lying then, then you're lying then or you're
- 25:33lying now. You're lying both times,
- 25:34probably. So you're just a liar,
- 25:37narcissist and a liar. So now it's early morning and
- 25:41we're at Janelle's home. Birds are chirping.
- 25:46She said something like, well the kids have to be to school at
- 25:48like 6:30 so I have at 5:45 or some shit and it's like Oh my
- 25:52God, I'm not jealous of you people with children that get
- 25:55them ready before school or daycare because it sounds like a
- 25:58nightmare. So fun.
- 26:00Yeah, terrible, terrible. I remember it as a kid.
- 26:02It was bad enough as a kid. I can't imagine doing it as an
- 26:04adult. And we do have Gabriel and
- 26:06Garrison who are arguing about a video game.
- 26:09Yeah, something about, oh, well, you are on your video game all
- 26:12the time. Well, you play your video game
- 26:14more than me. And it's like, OK, no one cares.
- 26:16Little boys, young boys. Yelling at each other and
- 26:20Janelle tells them not to communicate at all.
- 26:23There is no reason for you guys to even be communicating at all
- 26:26right now. She said the word communicating
- 26:28like 10 times within a minute. Like, don't even communicate
- 26:32with each other. Like they're so at each other's
- 26:35throats all the time that she would rather have them pretend
- 26:37that the other one is dead and not talk to each other.
- 26:40That's kind of where they're at, yeah.
- 26:41I'm sure there were times in my home as a child, my childhood
- 26:45home, where my mother was like, just don't communicate.
- 26:48Like just stop. And you, I know you will get
- 26:50there. Like just stop.
- 26:52Just leave each other. Literally just stop.
- 26:54I've already been at that point and one of my kids can't even
- 26:56talk yet so barely can talk. Please stop talking.
- 27:00Yeah. Oh my God, so good.
- 27:02Janelle tells Gabriel to go wake up Savannah nicely.
- 27:06She's like nicely and I'm like oh this is so good because
- 27:09obviously it's foreshadowing to how it's not going to be very
- 27:11nice. So he goes to Savannahs room and
- 27:14tries to get her out of bed by at first just kind of shaking
- 27:18her a little and then it's, you know, pull off the blankets and
- 27:21then it's jump on her body and then it's shove her to the side
- 27:24of the bed. So we're escalating and we're
- 27:26escalating. He says he's going to give her
- 27:29Dolly a swirly if she doesn't get out of bed.
- 27:34So he takes the doll into the bathroom and is, like, holding
- 27:37it over the toilet. Like, what is that called?
- 27:40Like threatening, Like, it's going to happen, Savannah, it's
- 27:43going to happen. You see his arm, like, going
- 27:45down slowly, like, he's like, it's going to happen.
- 27:47And of course, he's being filmed.
- 27:48So this is only egging on this little boy.
- 27:51And eventually, the doll's head does end up in the toilet.
- 27:54Yeah, he straight up dunked that doll's head in the toilet and
- 27:58gave it what, His version of a swirly?
- 28:01Swirly. Yes, I don't know, did he flush
- 28:04the toilet with the dolls head and I?
- 28:05Don't think that he did. I think he just physically
- 28:08swirled her head in the toilet like he didn't know what a
- 28:10swirly actually meant. Maybe.
- 28:13So good. Yeah, but he's a little shit.
- 28:15I mean, he is a little shit. I don't know.
- 28:18Yeah, Gabes a little troublemaker.
- 28:20And he even as an adult, he still has that thing about him.
- 28:23Like it never really goes away. Really.
- 28:25Gabe's probably that adult where his siblings recognized after
- 28:29like 3 drinks or something. It's like, oh, he's starting
- 28:32here. It comes like, oh God, here it
- 28:34comes. Yeah, because that's how it is
- 28:36with my brother. I know when it's like, oh God,
- 28:38here we go. And everyone kind of looks at
- 28:39each other like, all right, Tony's here, Tony's here.
- 28:44Oh, that's funny. This is where Kody gives us a
- 28:47medical update on Meri. What does he say about her?
- 28:50Her popped knee, honey. She sprained her MCL, partially
- 28:56tore it. ACL.
- 28:58MCL. Oh, OK.
- 29:00Did I say ACL? No, I thought it was ACL but is
- 29:03it MCL? You know what?
- 29:04You're probably. I think it's ACL, which I love
- 29:09because you were going to give Kody shit about his like blah
- 29:12blah blah. But yes, partially torn or
- 29:15sprained ACL which? Isn't that a huge difference?
- 29:19They don't know what they're talking about.
- 29:20I feel like once again, she probably didn't even go
- 29:22anywhere. They probably went to the
- 29:24medical supply store and bought her a crutch and a brace, a knee
- 29:27brace. And she's like it's going to be
- 29:296 to 8 weeks and it's like way to self diagnose you're torn and
- 29:33or sprained ACL like. Yeah.
- 29:36They probably read it in one of those like Family Home Journal,
- 29:38but like the family medicine book that everybody has, right,
- 29:41like the world Medicine book. They open it up and say Oh well
- 29:44her knee popped so it must be a sprained or partially torn ACL.
- 29:49That's hysterical. That's like the older version of
- 29:53WebMD. Yes, it's like, yes, the analog
- 29:56version, the hardcore old school version of WebMD, Meri is
- 30:00immobilized. Immobilized.
- 30:03Which I love the word immobilized.
- 30:04Kody goes, which is not good. Not good.
- 30:08Oh, it's. Not good.
- 30:09Because he's probably like, fuck, now I got to take care of
- 30:12her and she's going to be needy and not, or she's not going to
- 30:15be able to help out and do the things that I need her to do.
- 30:18Oh. God, you can't have a lazy wife.
- 30:21We all know this. A lazy wife is a terrible thing.
- 30:25Yeah, so she's immobilized. Meri's bedridden and she says it
- 30:30was a blast. And I'm like God, Meri, like I
- 30:33just don't even believe anything she says.
- 30:36I would go again. Yeah, and, and she's telling us
- 30:39this story about how she would love to go skiing again because
- 30:41it was such a blast. I was so distracted because her
- 30:44eyebrows are only one hair thick and eat the whole thing.
- 30:49It's like the skinniest eyebrow I've ever seen on a white
- 30:52person. Oh boy.
- 30:53Yeah, I, I think hers were a little skinnier than what I
- 30:57usually call the Nike check eyebrows of that era where they
- 31:01literally look like a Nike check and I.
- 31:03Robyn rocks that a little bit. Hers have more of like a box at
- 31:06the end. I don't know what that would be
- 31:07called. Yeah, I still know people that
- 31:09have Nike check eyebrows and it. It's like something they've held
- 31:14onto from their youth, like, 'cause it's a woman of a certain
- 31:17age usually who's like, I had these eyebrows when I was 15 and
- 31:21I'm never getting rid of them. And it's like you never should
- 31:23have had them, honey. Yeah, it's not a good look.
- 31:25It makes me cringe. And I am the type of person so I
- 31:30have my cosmetology license. I did hair actively for 10
- 31:35years, so when I see something like that, I can't look away.
- 31:39Like that's the thing that I will focus on the whole time
- 31:42that I'm like talking to somebody.
- 31:45Looks like the last time that we trimmed my Bush down by my
- 31:48pelvic region and you were like, Chris, you need help, you have
- 31:51to trim this. It's out of control.
- 31:53Right. And then we made it into a
- 31:55beautiful like handlebar mustache and now it looks
- 31:59wonderful. And it does look wonderful.
- 32:01I have a lot of bumps, though, whatever that's called, from the
- 32:03ingrown hairs around my mustache above my crotch.
- 32:09And now I'll always think of Meri with my bumps on my crotch.
- 32:14OK, we do get a moment with all of the adults on the couch.
- 32:18And I had to laugh because right next to Meri, she's got those
- 32:22crutches and I'm like L0L, 0L. Like Meri in the show episode is
- 32:26like, I've got a knee brace and I've got the crutches.
- 32:30This is my story. I pop the knee.
- 32:32It's a torn and or dislocated ACL.
- 32:36Like a bit. She just can't let go of she.
- 32:38Can't let go. And that's why she's got to ride
- 32:40that. She's got to sit in that bed and
- 32:43watch that daytime TV. She also during the interviews
- 32:46has her leg up like on the coffee table during the
- 32:49interview and it's just like, OK, do you really need to have
- 32:53it elevated all the time like right now on the coffee table
- 32:58during the sit down interview? Totally, totally.
- 33:01I thought. She's milking it for all it's
- 33:03worth, which is nothing. It's literally worth nothing.
- 33:06It's just me. All it's worth is us making fun
- 33:08of her. That's all it's worth.
- 33:11Meri does talk about how they can struggle with watching Kody
- 33:14do nice things for the other wives.
- 33:16Now I think she's speaking for everyone in that sense.
- 33:19Maybe she's only talking about herself.
- 33:20But the implication that I got was yes, we do.
- 33:25Maybe she's only speaking for herself.
- 33:27Meri does get jealous when seeing nice things being done
- 33:31for other wives in a understandable way, is what
- 33:35she's trying to convey. So she, yeah, she kind of at the
- 33:39beginning she's talking about her own jealousy, but then she
- 33:43mentions that there are sometimes things that she
- 33:48doesn't tell the other wives that Kody does for her because
- 33:51she doesn't want them to feel that way towards her.
- 33:55So she kind of is projecting and.
- 33:59Like I mean I would assume that her intentions are not bad by
- 34:03sparing these stories or details if her real intent is to not
- 34:08make anyone feel a certain kind of way about.
- 34:11It yeah, if she doesn't want him to feel jealous or feels like
- 34:13it'd be rubbing it in someone's face that maybe it's something
- 34:16they had wanted to do as well that they didn't get to do.
- 34:19But. What a complication with your
- 34:21spouse. OK, so like, you and I are
- 34:23married to the same person and then they're doing something for
- 34:27me that I don't want to share with you because I'm assuming
- 34:31you'll be jealous because of our history of probably my own
- 34:34jealousies of what he's done for you.
- 34:36I think it's such an odd dynamic.
- 34:38It's messy. It goes into the whole, like the
- 34:43whole religion is just about lying and covering stuff up and
- 34:49having the kids lie and having the wives like lies of a
- 34:54mission. And there's a lot of secrecy and
- 34:58a lot of stuff where it's, it's just unhealthy.
- 35:03It just feels weird and unhealthy.
- 35:06Love should be multiplied, not divided.
- 35:07Honey, not their favorite line. Even though you're dividing it
- 35:11by 4. Right.
- 35:14Literally dividing. Literally dividing yourself,
- 35:16yeah. So we get to date #2 where
- 35:22Janelle and Kody go to Red Rock Canyon to go hiking, and she
- 35:29talks about how she's been very consistent with her workouts for
- 35:33the past six months, and she is happy that she's physically
- 35:38capable now to actually go on a successful hike.
- 35:42On a hike, yes the hiking area is very pretty.
- 35:46I love, you know the red rock? What not nests like the desert
- 35:50Southwest is so beautiful. So I'm happy that they have
- 35:53those. I should say I'm happy.
- 35:54I'm jealous that they have those outdoor activities to do because
- 35:57it's actually really, really pretty there.
- 36:00Janelle does reference another hike slash camping trip thing
- 36:04that they did in season 2 where they had a similar episode where
- 36:07they had date nights and her and Kody went camping where you
- 36:12wanted to buy sleeping bags and whatever.
- 36:15And she's like, we've got blankets and pillows and.
- 36:17We've got comforters. Kody was where they discussed
- 36:20being more comfortable with their PDA and blah blah blah.
- 36:23And it's interesting to hear Janelle referencing this because
- 36:26she makes it sound like they barely made it to the campsite.
- 36:29Like she could barely make it up a hill.
- 36:31She was really out of shape. And they show her when they
- 36:33first go to the gym and she's really is out of shape.
- 36:37So, you know, her workouts, she says, seem to be paying off.
- 36:41But Kody makes a comment as they're on the hike.
- 36:45Like he says, you're fun to go on hikes with now, right?
- 36:50Like, oh, you're actually fun to do this with now.
- 36:54It's like, shut up. I know he has to take every
- 36:57opportunity to be an asshole that he can.
- 36:59It was like, yeah, just an unnecessary dig.
- 37:02We get that they're calling attention to this and it's like
- 37:06the shtick for their part here, but I don't know but.
- 37:10It's classic Kody because you could give a compliment like, Oh
- 37:12my God, I just love going on hikes with you.
- 37:14You don't have to say it like that.
- 37:15We're like, hikes have always been fun with you, but now we
- 37:18can just go a little farther and it's fun.
- 37:21Like, come on. I don't know what his well, he's
- 37:24got many problems. I think that he does this a lot
- 37:26where he does some what they call nagging where they make a
- 37:33compliment, but it's backhanded. So it's like, oh, I'm giving you
- 37:37a compliment, but I'm also taking you down a peg at the
- 37:40same time, like push, pull. And I think that's atrocious.
- 37:46I hate, I hate that. Yeah, he does do that a lot.
- 37:49Yeah. I got a chuckle.
- 37:51Oh, God. So now I'm going to be nigging.
- 37:53No, I'm just kidding. I'm not going to even pretend
- 37:55there's a compliment in there. She's not being like, I could
- 37:58get off the couch without pushing and I could do a squat
- 38:02with weight on my shoulders. And I was like, oh, God.
- 38:04And I hate to say it, but it is a reminder of just how out of
- 38:08shape Janelle was. And like, if she's in a better
- 38:11place now, that's great. It's not like she looks like,
- 38:14you know, stop the insanity, woman.
- 38:15She's. She's not exactly, you know,
- 38:16like rocking the Jane Fonda look, but at least she can get
- 38:20off the couch without hoisting herself and can put some weights
- 38:24on her shoulders and do squats, so that's good.
- 38:27I think of like the pregnancy rock where you're like so big in
- 38:31front that you, you put your hands behind your back and you
- 38:34like kind of rock yourself a couple of times to get that
- 38:37momentum to get like up out of the couch or whatever.
- 38:41And I'm. I kind of looked over at you
- 38:43during that point because I was going to laugh because I was
- 38:46thinking, oh, yeah, I know, I know how that feels.
- 38:48To have to rock up out of something and to have that just
- 38:51be your everyday would be. Yeah, a lot.
- 38:56It would be a lot. Yeah.
- 38:57And. Remember when they were at the
- 38:58gym and Bill was talking to her about, you know, what the
- 39:04outcomes were likely going to be because of her health?
- 39:06And she was very much like, I know, I know, I get it.
- 39:08And it's a weird place to be in when you're I've been out of
- 39:12shape. I have been overweight and been
- 39:13like, this is what it is. Like, I get it.
- 39:16Like I rationally understand it. I'm not in denial about the
- 39:19situation. I'm I'm just not motivated yet
- 39:21to change this or something. And they do talk a lot like
- 39:24during weight loss, you know, programs, non scale victories.
- 39:28And I like that she's focusing on that because I think she says
- 39:32she's only lost like 10 pounds, 10 lbs, but she's lost 16
- 39:36inches. 18 inches I think. 18 That's huge, huge.
- 39:39That really is huge because you're gaining muscle weight and
- 39:43so you're gaining muscle mass, but losing those inches, that is
- 39:49huge and it makes you feel more comfortable and you are able to
- 39:53do it more. And I don't even like to weigh
- 39:56myself because I always am like, it's how I feel.
- 40:00And it's like I can wear these jeans that I love to wear still
- 40:03and that feels good to me. I don't really need to know how
- 40:06much I weigh, you know? So I really do like that she's
- 40:09focusing on that part of it. I think that's healthy.
- 40:12Like that's a very healthy mindset to have.
- 40:14Agreed, particularly with the baseline of muscle weighing more
- 40:20than fat. And so that's such a like, it
- 40:24can be such a deterrent to people that are doing both,
- 40:26doing weight loss and muscle building.
- 40:28And it's like, you know, if you're not, I think it's great
- 40:31that Janelle's losing the inches.
- 40:33That's wonderful. Kody and Janelle are on the
- 40:36couch having a little bit of a spotlight moment and Kody starts
- 40:40talking about how Logan was his first born child and Kody and
- 40:44Chanel both talked about how the kids brought their young
- 40:47relationships closer together. Yeah.
- 40:50And so, you know, once again, kind of a discussion of the,
- 40:53like, struggles at the beginning, Janelle joining the
- 40:57marriage with Meri and Kody. They were very young.
- 41:00They didn't know what they were doing.
- 41:02There was a whole bunch of shit from the book about Janelle
- 41:05feeling like they were a couple and she was like a guest in
- 41:09their house, Like, just weird shit, you know?
- 41:11And then she got pregnant with Logan and had Logan, and Kody
- 41:16was very happy about that, his first child.
- 41:18And he says something like, they're going to be together
- 41:20forever. I was like, Oh my God.
- 41:23So here is an instance where you see a Band-Aid, an unhealthy
- 41:29Band-Aid being put on a shitty relationship situation of having
- 41:35a child to fix. Saying that it's fixing a
- 41:40problem. Yeah, yeah.
- 41:41Yeah. And then all of them had kids,
- 41:43so it was even more. It's like band aids on band aids
- 41:45on band aids. Like we all started having kids
- 41:47and then all of a sudden we're all like, busy.
- 41:49Now we've got this, you know, blended family, and it's
- 41:51important to keep the family together.
- 41:53Yeah, yeah. It's like, OK, the dam's about
- 41:56to break and you just keep trying to add more shit to block
- 42:00the holes because the water is about to go plummeting through.
- 42:04She does say, too, that she sees them staying together and very
- 42:09involved until they die, even when the kids move on.
- 42:14So she talks about how a lot of people, like, after the kids
- 42:17leave, they don't have anything in common anymore.
- 42:20And people, you know, can separate and relationships
- 42:23change at that point. And she says that she thinks
- 42:27they're going to stay very strong and involved and be there
- 42:31for their grandkids. Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 42:34Which is funny because they don't even make it till all the
- 42:36kids are out of the house. So thanks, Janelle.
- 42:38Right now, we're going to cut to Christine's house.
- 42:42Early morning she wakes up and everyone's getting ready for
- 42:47school and Christine tells us there's going to be a daddy
- 42:51daughter dance, Daddy daughter dance for Valentine's Day.
- 42:56Yeah. So apparently this is in
- 42:58February, there's going to be this daddy daughter dance at
- 43:01school. She says that Gwendolyn asked
- 43:04Logan to be her date because Kody has several daughters that
- 43:08he needs to be an escort to. Five daughters 5.
- 43:11Girls 1 Kody. 5 Girls 1. Sorry, I should not be.
- 43:16I didn't mean it to be that kind of reference.
- 43:20Oh God. Oh, I mean, you know, if you're
- 43:22not talking about his children, you're talking about his wives.
- 43:24And it's 4 girls in one Kody, so it's not that much of a
- 43:26difference. Oh my God.
- 43:28Insert the porn video cover that you want if that's what you were
- 43:31thinking. I'm not saying you were, not
- 43:33saying you were. Yeah, Gwendolyn makes a comment
- 43:36that kind of is like a little heartbreaking where she asked
- 43:41Logan to be her date because she wants someone all to herself for
- 43:45the dance. Like she doesn't want to share
- 43:48for the dance. And it's very sweet.
- 43:50It's like touching, like you asked your brother to be part of
- 43:53this situation. But it's also a little
- 43:56heartbreaking because she doesn't get to have that special
- 44:00connection with her dad during that.
- 44:02Yeah, I'm curious what it would be like to have been whatever on
- 44:08the wall watching this daddy daughter dance where Gwendolyn's
- 44:12there with her brother and like, are people asking about that?
- 44:16And she's like, yeah, I know my dad's here, but like I'm with my
- 44:20brother. Like I just wonder how that what
- 44:23their comfortability level is, you know, like what is she?
- 44:26She felt comfortable enough saying that she was just hoping
- 44:28to have someone all to herself. Yeah, and that's understandable.
- 44:32Yeah, I don't know. It was cute and also a little
- 44:36heartbreaking at the same time. Yeah, it was both things.
- 44:39So yeah. Christine is gonna stop by
- 44:41Meri's to see if she needs any help because of, you know, her
- 44:45broken leg. Yep, she needs some help.
- 44:49Meri's got that peg leg. She's in in bed with a, with a
- 44:53parrot on her shoulder patch on her eye.
- 44:58Oh God. So Christine says she's going
- 45:00to, you know, swing on over to Meri's.
- 45:02There was some sort of reference when she was walking the kids
- 45:04maybe to the bus stop or something.
- 45:05And she's like, we're going to get exercise.
- 45:07So we're going for a walk. And I just love these, like,
- 45:10throwaway comments that they keep in where it's like, yeah,
- 45:13you're walking down the street, like, OK.
- 45:16Yeah, she said something about how they said they were going to
- 45:18start going on a walk every day. Oh, sure, the big walk, the big
- 45:23W over to Meri's. So Christine does make her way
- 45:26to Meri's. I believe Meri's in bed with
- 45:29her. Well, yes, she's got her leg
- 45:31brace on and it's up on a pillow on her bed.
- 45:34Like it's like got to keep it elevated.
- 45:36She's like got it up next to her ear.
- 45:39Yes, it's high. It is high, like it's like Carl.
- 45:43She's like the camera crews coming.
- 45:44It's almost like when people have put on the fake neck brace
- 45:46like when they've been in a car accident.
- 45:48And then they turn their neck in.
- 45:50Yes, yes. But it's just Meri with her leg
- 45:53up super high. Like, girl, you're fine.
- 45:55It's a fake injury. So Christine, at one point, you
- 45:59know, they're starting to chat and she points to a photo of
- 46:02Kody, Meri and Leon. And it's like, oh, that's a cute
- 46:05family photo. We don't have any cute family
- 46:08photos. Maybe, I don't know, Maybe it's
- 46:10cuz like my husband's never happy with me.
- 46:12And it's like, Oh my God, Christine.
- 46:14Yeah. Oh my God, probably true, but
- 46:17now you're just opening up the floodgates for Meri to give you
- 46:21bad advice. Horrible advice, which is what
- 46:23Meri does. Meri and this we just talked
- 46:25about this last episode. Meri loves to give some advice,
- 46:29solicit it or not, and she's very much like, well, everyone
- 46:32should have my experience, everyone should understand what
- 46:34I'm talking about, everyone should blah blah, blah, blah.
- 46:36And it's like Christine, she's an idiot for listening and
- 46:41Meri's an idiot for speaking. Yeah, she's like shame, Shame.
- 46:45That's your name. Meri wants to shame Christine.
- 46:49She does. She goes like hard at her too.
- 46:54She says like Christine needs to change and it's hard for guys to
- 46:58say that they're wrong, so she shouldn't expect it.
- 47:01Yeah, ridiculous. Yeah, ridiculous.
- 47:04Yeah. No matter how hard it is to say
- 47:06that you were wrong, that is bullshit.
- 47:08And also, it's not like Christine was teeing this up
- 47:11with like, well, Kody's always wrong and I'm always telling him
- 47:13he's wrong. It's like Meri's just like,
- 47:14well, I know your patterns. I know everything.
- 47:17Kody is never going to say that he's wrong, so you're just
- 47:21supposed to adapt everything about yourself to fit this
- 47:24narcissist who will never acknowledge that he's wrong.
- 47:27Yeah, she literally says you just have to work through your
- 47:30own issues. Yeah.
- 47:32All right. So weird, so weird.
- 47:37And it's also, it's always weird to see Meri and Christine having
- 47:40these conversations because at some point, Christine lost her
- 47:43cool on Meri about the kids with, like, the punishments and
- 47:46being like, you're too strict on the kids.
- 47:49And so for the entire time that they're filming the show,
- 47:51whenever they're together alone, it's like, so uncomfortable
- 47:55because Christine doesn't seem to have much patience for Meri.
- 47:58She's she's not into it. She's not a fan.
- 48:00Yeah. And then Meri's, like, I'm going
- 48:02to give you this advice. And it's bad advice and
- 48:05Christine just wants her point validated.
- 48:08She just wants her perspective validated from what it seems
- 48:10like. Yeah, she definitely was fishing
- 48:13for someone to give her validation at that moment.
- 48:18And yeah, Meri was just not giving it.
- 48:21And Christine even points out like Meri's fakeness basically
- 48:26with being happy all the time and going along with everything
- 48:29all of the time. She points that out and even
- 48:33says it to her. Before she gets into this about
- 48:35Meri, there's something where she says something like do I
- 48:38have to do everything one sided? Because when Meri's talking
- 48:41about how Christine needs to take onus for everything and she
- 48:45needs to change herself because she can't change anyone else.
- 48:47And Christine does have a very valid question about being like
- 48:51but how is it all one sided? It just is not and that's what
- 48:55she's fishing for, is for someone to acknowledge that it's
- 48:57not just one sided, which Meri will not do.
- 49:00Did you think it was odd that Christine?
- 49:02So she asked Meri, has Kody ever admitted he's been wrong to you
- 49:06before? And then she goes, I'm sorry, is
- 49:08that too much? You don't have to answer that.
- 49:11Right. And backtracks and I'm like,
- 49:13that's a calm. Like that would be a question I
- 49:15would ask a girlfriend. Like you should be able to ask
- 49:19that, right, Without feeling like you're overstepping.
- 49:24But I don't know. Of your husband's wife.
- 49:26This is what's so weird, right? Like, you're supposed to be
- 49:28friends. You're supposed to have this
- 49:30eternal bond in this relationship, but yet like,
- 49:34yeah, is it appropriate to ask your husband's other wife if he
- 49:38ever acknowledges that he's wrong?
- 49:40I feel like that's such a simple.
- 49:41Question, I think like yes, it's totally appropriate, but this is
- 49:43their, their dynamic does not work.
- 49:45They do not communicate well. No, it's very weird.
- 49:48Christine says that she thinks Kody stopped making the first
- 49:53three wives feel special. Yeah.
- 49:55And that he, you know, with the first three of them was very
- 50:00good at, you know, individually making them feel special for,
- 50:04like, what they each meant to him and, like, they're things
- 50:10that they were good at. And when Robyn came along, he
- 50:13stopped making the first three feel special.
- 50:17Yes. Yeah.
- 50:18And that was a comment that was very like telling.
- 50:21Well, and when Meri's telling her, you know, like, get over it
- 50:25or whatever, Christine points out to Meri that Meri didn't get
- 50:29an anniversary gift this last year.
- 50:32She didn't get an anniversary date.
- 50:34And that goes along with that lines of like, well, he seems to
- 50:37be ignoring you. I mean, like, he's not really.
- 50:39You're pretending. Yep.
- 50:40Everything. She's got a rose colored glasses
- 50:42on. Everything's fine because I have
- 50:44to do the work for me. And it's like, girl, you're
- 50:46going to be doing that work alone for the next two decades.
- 50:50She is for sure trying to call out Meri during this
- 50:56interaction. Right, without being too.
- 50:59Direct when she's just like, yeah, she's looking for someone
- 51:04to validate her feelings. And so she's pointing out to
- 51:07Meri, look like you're in the same boat that I'm in.
- 51:10Why are you yet so in denial? Christine asks Meri.
- 51:14So am I supposed to just act like everything's OK?
- 51:16And Meri, at this point, because she has been a little browbeat
- 51:20by the questions, is like, well, no.
- 51:22And it's like, OK, So what then? And Meri has no good advice for
- 51:27her, of course, because she doesn't.
- 51:29She just says, Meri says, because she needs to just have
- 51:32fun and be happy with Kody. Yes, have fun, be happy with
- 51:35Kody. You know, that's great advice
- 51:38for every wife out there. What I would say, grin it and
- 51:41bear it. Yep, just drink booze, pop pills
- 51:45and pretend everything's fine. That's the American way.
- 51:48Happy now? Yeah.
- 51:51Like it's a black and white TV show.
- 51:52Yeah, you're June Cleaver and everything's fine.
- 51:54Everything's great. I'm only here for the good
- 51:56times. Christine says she's still
- 51:59having issues with jealousy with Robyn and the courting situation
- 52:04about how that's a whole deal, that she thinks that this is the
- 52:08root of their issues. But to me, it doesn't ring true
- 52:12that Robyn joining the family is the root of their issues.
- 52:16I think this is where Chris, it's like the latest thing.
- 52:19It might have pushed her over the edge.
- 52:21I think it's the fly that broke the camel's back.
- 52:23OK, OK. I think that the.
- 52:25Fly that broke the camel's back. Isn't that what they say I.
- 52:28Think it's the needle? No, the straw that broke the
- 52:32camel's back. That fly, oh, that fly landed on
- 52:35the camel. My back.
- 52:39My hump. Mom not not Meri's me and then
- 52:42your hump. Oh my God, the fly.
- 52:46The fly that broke the camels. Why?
- 52:48Did I say the? Fly that broke Meri's meniscus.
- 52:51I don't even think I've. Never said that before or
- 52:54thought that it was. It was an interesting mix up but
- 52:57it's OK. Oh God, Robyn being courted was
- 53:00the fly that broke Meri's meniscus, and we all know that
- 53:04it's true. Oof, I well they do make a
- 53:07comment too about how it's been 16 years since the last wife,
- 53:11which was. Christine Yeah, yeah.
- 53:13So after 16 years, yeah, you'd be comfortable and you would be
- 53:19so comfortable. So then to bring this other
- 53:21person in, it would definitely be the fly that broke my back.
- 53:25Yes, 100 damn sure. 100%, yeah. The idea that Kody did balance
- 53:30things well with three of them. Now, Christina's very much
- 53:35trying to highlight that things are not balanced with the four
- 53:37of them. And this has been a thing since
- 53:39the beginning, and we all know that that's true.
- 53:42Obviously, he's in love with his soulmate Robyn.
- 53:45Meri gives this terrible example of an ungrateful child and how
- 53:50that's how Christine is behaving.
- 53:51Like, you know, when you do something for Gwendolyn or what
- 53:54she names a child and then they're unhappy with whatever
- 53:57you did for them and it's like, well, and why am I even doing
- 54:00this for you? It's like they don't appreciate
- 54:02it. It's like, God, Meri, why?
- 54:04Why I'm? Giving this man too much grace,
- 54:06this is he's allowed to act like an ungrateful child.
- 54:09Meri is so delulu I cannot. But that is part of her
- 54:16upbringing right? Like you better make the man
- 54:19happy and he can act however the hell he wants to you.
- 54:23It's your job to make him happy. You're the only one that you can
- 54:27fix. Who said that to her?
- 54:29How many times in her life? Her mom, Bonnie, her mom
- 54:33Bonnie's like, the only one that you can fix is yourself.
- 54:35Like, Oh my God. And she probably hated that when
- 54:38she was younger she was like, fuck mom, stop saying that to
- 54:41me. And now she's saying it to all
- 54:44of. Her, she's saying it to
- 54:44Christine. We do get a brief break where we
- 54:49cut to Robyn changing Solomon on this baby table thing.
- 54:53Random little. And she said she can't visit
- 54:56Meri because she has four sick kids.
- 54:59As she's like as the baby's like, hacking in her face.
- 55:02As Saul like literally burps and coughs at the same time and
- 55:05makes like an ungodly little baby noise.
- 55:08Was this the point where the pacifier popped out or was that
- 55:11later? I know, I don't know, there's a
- 55:14few times in this episode where it's like that baby is
- 55:18struggling. And I I do want to say but.
- 55:21We're at the beginning when Kody was holding him.
- 55:23Yeah. Why was he holding the baby like
- 55:26that? That's not a great.
- 55:27He was holding it like in AC shape.
- 55:29Yeah, like constricting it. And the baby is like sick and
- 55:32coughing. And imagine being in the C shape
- 55:35when you're coughing. Like get it together.
- 55:37Kody, get it together. But the baby is struggling and I
- 55:41do want to say for everybody that they did take the baby to
- 55:46the doctor, so she's not just like a letting the kids suffer,
- 55:50but it sounds pretty awful. It sounded awful.
- 55:52There's there's the two things that stuck out to me is lol
- 55:56moments, even though it's like, thank God.
- 55:59So Kody holding Solomon in this weird position and then
- 56:02Solomon's head is to the side while he's in the C shape and
- 56:05his eyes are like all red and bulbous and his skin is pasty
- 56:10and he's a little chub and he's like, Kody's just like bouncing
- 56:14him in his heart. And it's like, what are you
- 56:16doing? Like put him over your shoulder
- 56:18and give him some Pats on the back.
- 56:19Get that cough out like. So unnatural and as you said,
- 56:23for Kody's like 720 third child, you think he would know how to
- 56:27hold a kid? That's why I was like, this is
- 56:29this is the shit that pisses me off to see like you try to be
- 56:33like dad of the year every year to all these kids, but you don't
- 56:37even know how to hold a fucking baby.
- 56:39Get it together. And so the first one is this
- 56:42terrible footage of Solomon looking sick as fuck.
- 56:46And then the second one was, I don't know if it was this moment
- 56:49with Robyn talking to camera about Meri or if it was when we
- 56:52get reintroduced to her later in the episode.
- 56:54But Saul is laying on the changing table or on the
- 56:58whatever and coughs and the pacifier pops up, shoots over
- 57:03the side of his head. And I was like, Oh my God, this
- 57:06footage. Yeah, I think they use the same
- 57:09take for two separate days, like 2 separate times.
- 57:13I think they're trying to give her more airtime because both of
- 57:17those clips that you're referencing have nothing to do
- 57:21with what's like before or after in a way that's like meaningful
- 57:25at all. And there's more filler when
- 57:27we're getting when we get to Robyn's segment where Kody's
- 57:30talking about the children and there's shots with like the
- 57:33whole family where he's holding the kids.
- 57:35So it's like they're using even more footage in places to make
- 57:39his daddy vibes even better. And it's like, this wasn't even
- 57:43the same day or the same house. Like Oh my God.
- 57:46But they do have lazy editing on this show and we are lazy
- 57:50watchers. So a lot of times people are
- 57:51probably just like Berber, Derber Der.
- 57:53And it's like, OK, this is completely fake.
- 57:55It was obvious in this episode. I think probably because they
- 57:58were sick, they maybe didn't get as much footage of the family
- 58:01like at Robyns. So they're having to kind of
- 58:05piece it together like a Frankenstein and.
- 58:07We'll see more of that for sure, whether they're sick or not.
- 58:11So we see Kody and Christine. Kody's picking her up in the new
- 58:17convertible. Oh, the sexy new convertible.
- 58:20The gorgeous, the gorgeous copper convertible, it's just so
- 58:25gorgeous. Gorgeous.
- 58:27Date #3 Paintballing. They're going to go
- 58:30paintballing. It's very romantic.
- 58:33Takes her to go paintballing and she says that it's cheap
- 58:37therapy. Oh.
- 58:39It's a good way to get their anger out.
- 58:41Shooting each other cheap. Therapy.
- 58:43Hey, shooting at your husband? At the shooting range or the
- 58:46course or whatever that's called.
- 58:47I don't know what those things are called where there's like
- 58:50all the crap outside, you know, like fish houses and big tires
- 58:53and whatever. I.
- 58:56Think it would be like a course. Of course.
- 58:58Yeah, I did do that. I did it one time, same like in
- 59:02a group activity thing and it was very fun.
- 59:05I agree with a group, yeah, mind you.
- 59:08I had a good time when I did it. I don't think I would have fun
- 59:13just doing it with my husband. I love my husband dearly, love
- 59:17him to death, but. You wouldn't want to shoot him
- 59:19with a paintball gun. I mean.
- 59:20Well, that would be fun. If he held up his shirt and was
- 59:23like, shoot me with the paintball.
- 59:25Point range like whatever. Yeah, at close range.
- 59:30I also had a Taser when I lived downtown and I tried to get him
- 59:34to let me. Tase him.
- 59:36Oh, God. Did he let you?
- 59:38No. Yeah, I don't blame him.
- 59:39He would not. I would not.
- 59:41I mean in the thigh or something like come on.
- 59:43You're like a larger Guinea pig, like, OK, let me tase you and
- 59:47then you can tase me and let's see if you want to do it, you
- 59:49know? I would do it.
- 59:50Oh God, that was the wrong. All right, how many people want
- 59:53to see me, Chris Tase Chris on camera?
- 59:56No, no, no. No, no, that we actually
- 59:57recorded it's. The other way around, I'm going
- 59:59to tase you. You're not tasing me it.
- 1:00:01Would have to go both ways, Sir. Well, I'm not signing up for
- 1:00:04that. Cheap therapy.
- 1:00:05Oh God, do we need it? I don't think.
- 1:00:06I don't think we need it yet. I.
- 1:00:08Think we're still in love? Let's.
- 1:00:09Wait till season 5. We'll see.
- 1:00:12We'll either paintball each other at close range or shoot
- 1:00:15each other with a Taser. It's only episode 2 together.
- 1:00:17I don't know why we're talking this way.
- 1:00:19I think they're in love. I'm like, I'm not married to
- 1:00:23you. You're not tasing me.
- 1:00:24You're. Not tasing me.
- 1:00:28Oh God. It's been a while since I've
- 1:00:30even brought that puppy out. Bad boy, anyway.
- 1:00:34Kody lets us know that when we talk too much, we bring up our
- 1:00:38problems, so this is a good activity because we don't need
- 1:00:42to talk. He says they can't start talking
- 1:00:44or the problems come out and they don't want to address them.
- 1:00:47He literally is like, we don't want to talk about our problems.
- 1:00:50Oh. My God.
- 1:00:51And he's trying to explain to her, like mansplain to her how
- 1:00:55it works, like to hide behind the stuff and shoot between this
- 1:00:58stuff. And he's like, I feel so guilty.
- 1:01:00You're covering so much paint like he one or shot her so many
- 1:01:06times. It's like gross.
- 1:01:09Luckily I blocked out most of that experience because I was
- 1:01:11like I don't even care like this is terrible.
- 1:01:13It's like I'm gonna take out all of my anger from all of my wives
- 1:01:18on you with this big. No.
- 1:01:22She's got like triple the shots on her.
- 1:01:25She's a trooper and she gets shot with some paintball
- 1:01:29bullets, some paintball things, balls, and then Kody's going to
- 1:01:34surprise her with the second part of their date.
- 1:01:38And you know, it just makes me want to puke.
- 1:01:41He's all like, we're I'm going to surprise you, I'm going to
- 1:01:43surprise you. And then they do a commercial
- 1:01:44break and they come back and she's like, oh, God, Kody, Oh
- 1:01:47God, Kody, oh Kody. And it's just like, Oh my God.
- 1:01:52And there's a helicopter. So they've left the shooting
- 1:01:56range to go to the parking lot where there's a helicopter
- 1:01:59waiting for them. Cliche.
- 1:02:01And she is completely shocked doing her fake Christine
- 1:02:06happiness, which is just whatever that is.
- 1:02:09Apparently Kody says that Christine suggested it a long
- 1:02:12time ago that they go on a helicopter rhyme.
- 1:02:17In their right mind suggests to their husband, OK, I can't say
- 1:02:21that because there's a lot of women that watch the bachelor
- 1:02:24and this is a cliche ass date from like the bachelor.
- 1:02:29So there's probably a lot of basic bees.
- 1:02:32Yeah, sorry. That would be like, oh, that's
- 1:02:35so romantic. A helicopter date.
- 1:02:38Why? Oh my God, Oh my.
- 1:02:40God. I know I was thinking like if I
- 1:02:42walked out and there was some, my man was like, I got us a
- 1:02:45helicopter ride. The first thing I would think
- 1:02:47was no, no, no, no. Please don't tell me this is how
- 1:02:50you're going to propose. Like, please don't tell me
- 1:02:51you're going to take me somewhere and then be like, now
- 1:02:54I'm going to be now I'm going to get out on my knee and I'd be
- 1:02:56like, why did you do this with a helicopter?
- 1:02:58Like, why are we these people? We're not these people.
- 1:03:00We're not these people. We are not Gretchen Rossi.
- 1:03:02We are not on the Real Housewives.
- 1:03:04We are not on The Bachelor. Please don't do this.
- 1:03:06We're not landing in Hawaii. The grass isn't flowing in the
- 1:03:10waves caused by the Helix. Jurassic Park, there's like
- 1:03:13dinosaurs behind. I'd be like, well, this might be
- 1:03:15worth it, but you know, just to like go up and look around and
- 1:03:19be like, well, because there isn't a proposal.
- 1:03:21They've been married for however many years at this point.
- 1:03:24Yeah, I'm not interested. So oh God.
- 1:03:27And then you have to wear the little headphones to talk to
- 1:03:29each other or you're like, what? Yeah, what?
- 1:03:32That's what I was saying at the beginning, like, oh, Yep, I had
- 1:03:35my headphones on this entire episode.
- 1:03:36I was tuned on in. Oh, that's like a nightmare to
- 1:03:40me. And maybe it's just because I
- 1:03:42have like a gabber. I like to gab.
- 1:03:44Oh God. Imagine me on a helicopter, just
- 1:03:49like talking to to my husband. Like the entire time you're just
- 1:03:52looking. Out trying to enjoy the view and
- 1:03:54you're like blah blah blah blah, right?
- 1:03:56Into his ear, just right in there.
- 1:03:59Voice to ear, Voice to ear. I'd feel bad for him, I would.
- 1:04:03Well, Kody and Christine land on some sort of bluff or something.
- 1:04:06They, you know, they whisk into the sky and then they whisk on
- 1:04:10down. I guess whisk is the word I'm
- 1:04:11using for the helicopter. Right.
- 1:04:13Whisk like Wheaton. And they they.
- 1:04:15Yeah, like some whole wheat pancakes that nobody wants and
- 1:04:19they land on a bluff or some sort of rock formation and that
- 1:04:24was that. Maybe they did get their grass
- 1:04:26wafting in the wind moment when they landed and it was like he
- 1:04:30grabbed her hand like Cinderella and she stepped out of the
- 1:04:34helicopter. You think if they had that
- 1:04:35footage they wouldn't have showed us?
- 1:04:37I think that that would have been.
- 1:04:38Shown This is just another one of my made-up moments that let
- 1:04:42me have it OK, let me have it let you.
- 1:04:45Have it for Christine. All right.
- 1:04:48Kody takes the opportunity to tell us about how he asked
- 1:04:52Christine's father for her hand in marriage and they were
- 1:04:56married two months later. So Christine's father was an
- 1:05:00elder in the church. The.
- 1:05:01Head of the church. Yes, yes, because her
- 1:05:04grandfather was the head of the church and then he was murdered
- 1:05:06by like another family member. So then apparently her dad
- 1:05:09became like this, you know, maybe the the new leader or
- 1:05:12something. I don't know the details.
- 1:05:15Well, this is the thing about Christine.
- 1:05:16She joked about how she said, oh, you know, I said something
- 1:05:19like Hoffa, maybe of all the boys thought you'd be the one
- 1:05:22I'd want to marry. Kody took that as a informal
- 1:05:26engagement. She literally was like, Oh yeah,
- 1:05:29he thought I'd proposed to him. And so he went and asked my dad
- 1:05:33and the head of the church if he could marry me.
- 1:05:36And obviously her father was both so.
- 1:05:39And this was after Nacho Gate, so he had already decided that
- 1:05:42she was chubby and that he was disgusted by her.
- 1:05:45But she is polygamist royalty so might as well get that ring.
- 1:05:50Put a ring on that chubby finger.
- 1:05:52And she says that she thought he was the life of the party before
- 1:05:56the marriage. She had a different idea of him
- 1:05:58before they got married. This is a theme for her, Yeah,
- 1:06:02is she wants to be the third wife.
- 1:06:05She always talks about if she wanted to be the third wife
- 1:06:07because the first wife, blah, blah, blah, the second wife had
- 1:06:10problems. The third wife would come in and
- 1:06:12everything would be figured out by this point.
- 1:06:14And hey, hey, hey, guess what? We got another Band-Aid.
- 1:06:17We got another person acting as a Band-Aid here on the dam
- 1:06:20that's going to explode. He thought that Christine helped
- 1:06:24with Meri and Janelle's struggling relationship because
- 1:06:28they hadn't been communicating well.
- 1:06:30And then along comes Christine and she fixes it.
- 1:06:37Wives 1 and 2 can't get along, so let's add another.
- 1:06:40Yeah, absolutely. And it seemed to work great.
- 1:06:43I think earlier in the in the show he references that she
- 1:06:48saved their bacon, which is a lovely way to tie in Christine's
- 1:06:52appearance. God, I just feel.
- 1:06:55Terrible, terrible. They just keep using people as
- 1:06:58band aids and like and big. References.
- 1:07:00Let's add more babies, Let's add more wise.
- 1:07:04We'll fix it. We'll fix it.
- 1:07:05We'll fix it. She'll be the frosting on the
- 1:07:07cake or the bacon in our pan. He literally said the frost,
- 1:07:10like the frosting. She was like the frosting.
- 1:07:13Yeah, Oh my God. He really loves the food
- 1:07:15metaphor when it comes to Christine.
- 1:07:17OK, so if you were let's say, Oh my God, I know.
- 1:07:23Let's say that you we're down with all of this.
- 1:07:27What wife, what husband would you want to be?
- 1:07:30What number? I my knee jerk is the first cuz
- 1:07:34I think being a legal spouse makes a little bit of a
- 1:07:38difference. And in seeing the Browns and
- 1:07:42Sister wives, Meri does kind of rule the roost.
- 1:07:45Like up until Robyn comes along, it was kind of Meri's world and
- 1:07:49everyone lived in it. Like everyone respected her.
- 1:07:51She was the. She got her way.
- 1:07:53Probably head of the household in a way.
- 1:07:55Yeah, what about you? I would say the first or the
- 1:07:59last, of course, like first because you get to be in charge
- 1:08:04and everyone kind of looks up to you and looks to you for
- 1:08:07answers, or last because like, you're the hot new young thing
- 1:08:11and you're the like, my boobs are still perky.
- 1:08:15I'm like about to have my babies and I'm, yeah, I'm the hot new
- 1:08:20thing. And this is me.
- 1:08:21Just like being devil's advocate.
- 1:08:23If I was like in this situation, the third, the third.
- 1:08:28Christine's, She lives in her own world.
- 1:08:31She made this decision when she was a kid.
- 1:08:34She saw other polygamous couples and thought the third wife had
- 1:08:37it the best. Yeah, but I think she was under
- 1:08:40the impression that they were never going to get a fourth
- 1:08:42wife. Series of deduction.
- 1:08:43She just kind of was like, this is the best situation I've seen
- 1:08:48it played out like multiple times.
- 1:08:50So I do think she was, you know, honestly thinking it through
- 1:08:54because she thought for sure this would be her life because
- 1:08:57she was raised in the the part of the church that did, you
- 1:09:02know, plague me. So I I do think you know, she
- 1:09:06deduced from her experience the best opinion she could on this.
- 1:09:10Yeah, the best role. Yeah, and she probably thought
- 1:09:15she was going to be the last, cause what was it, 16 years
- 1:09:20since her? And then Robyn comes along.
- 1:09:22She for sure thought she was the last wife.
- 1:09:25Oh yeah. Yeah, that's a long ass time and
- 1:09:28she just had a baby. It's not like she's out of her
- 1:09:32baby making years and he needs another wife because, you know,
- 1:09:36he's got a quiver full. He's got to fill that quiver and
- 1:09:40have all them babies. Yeah.
- 1:09:44Well, he left her while she was giving birth to truly to go make
- 1:09:48out with Robyn. I mean, he will.
- 1:09:50Never live that down in my mind or in anyone else's minds, I
- 1:09:53don't think. It's a mess, yeah.
- 1:09:55And to take further, the which wife would you want to be?
- 1:10:00The one I would want to be the least would be the second one.
- 1:10:03Like Janelle's position. Like to come in and be like the
- 1:10:05awkward third wheel and then have someone else come in and
- 1:10:08hopefully that makes it better. Like that would be so weird.
- 1:10:11I think the only plus side to being somebody in the middle is
- 1:10:16that you're kind of the glue in a sense that you could fly under
- 1:10:20the radar if you were. Yeah, if you wanted.
- 1:10:23Wanting to. And I think Janelle kind of
- 1:10:26operates like that. Like it doesn't.
- 1:10:28She probably would want more from her husband, particularly
- 1:10:31at the beginning of their relationship, but it probably
- 1:10:34did work for her to be like, hey, you know what?
- 1:10:36I'm an independent person. I'm an autonomous person.
- 1:10:39I get to do my own thing and like it's fine.
- 1:10:41And I think I've told you this before, like in private
- 1:10:44conversations, but I really think that Janelle is the head
- 1:10:50of the household. I think Kody would like to think
- 1:10:53he is, but Janelle runs the pocketbook.
- 1:10:57She crunches the numbers. She's trying to keep the family
- 1:11:01together and is the one that keeps bringing it up over and
- 1:11:04over again. The other wives are like, give
- 1:11:08or take. We could live separate lives,
- 1:11:10separate, whatever, and I really, really do believe that
- 1:11:15Janelle had the best intentions with this.
- 1:11:18I agree about her intentions. There's examples from the book
- 1:11:22Becoming Sister Wives though, where I mean, she left for a
- 1:11:26couple years and lived in another state with her kids.
- 1:11:31So I think maybe that's just part of her built in like
- 1:11:37bullshit radar thing. Like she will only put up with
- 1:11:39so much for herself individually.
- 1:11:41But I think the reason that that's not even really addressed
- 1:11:44or made a big point is because she's like, I didn't leave the
- 1:11:49family. I was doing what I needed to do
- 1:11:50for me. And then I came back when the
- 1:11:52time was right. Like we all came back together
- 1:11:54anyway. So it's just there's just that
- 1:11:56one example of her packing up her shit and leaving.
- 1:12:00But I think it was cuz she'd had enough of Meri.
- 1:12:02Like she was done with Meri shit so she left for like a year or
- 1:12:05two. But really what that means is.
- 1:12:08Kody came to. Earth Well, and Kody would go to
- 1:12:10visit her and the kids like, you know, on the weekends or
- 1:12:13something. She probably bought.
- 1:12:14I think at one point she would even bring her kids to stay with
- 1:12:16Christine for minutes, you know, like for a chunk of time.
- 1:12:19So it's not like she was gone. She just was like, I'm not going
- 1:12:23to live with these other women. Like I'm not going.
- 1:12:25To do I know my worth and we have to figure this out or I'm
- 1:12:29out. And she's also kind of a woman
- 1:12:30of few words, so she doesn't really describe a lot of things
- 1:12:34in detail. Often times, you know, but there
- 1:12:36is that always fall back when you look at the patterns.
- 1:12:39She is the one that's like, we should all be living in one
- 1:12:41home. All the kids should be
- 1:12:43supported. Like her relationship with Kody
- 1:12:45is very much about the children and not in a way that makes it
- 1:12:49seem like she's band dating I. Think she's band dating.
- 1:12:53I think she truly thinks that her way would work and she's
- 1:12:57getting frustrated that it's not playing out that way and that
- 1:13:01nobody is like listening to her. She's like shaking people and
- 1:13:05trying to get them to do the right thing that would make it
- 1:13:08happen, but it's not happening. And she's the one that wasn't
- 1:13:11raised in polygamy, so she's the one that had a burning bosom.
- 1:13:15She had the voice from God. Tell her you're supposed to let
- 1:13:20this. She had her hands perched under
- 1:13:25her tits and she had them in AT Rex position and she was
- 1:13:30bouncing. Bouncing.
- 1:13:32She was here for living this polygamy life.
- 1:13:36She chose the polygamy life she chose.
- 1:13:38She wasn't bred for the polygamy life.
- 1:13:39She chose it and her family tried to have an intervention.
- 1:13:42She was disowned by several family members.
- 1:13:44It was a whole thing. So she is dedicated to this in a
- 1:13:48way that Meri and Christine are not because they were raised in
- 1:13:51it. Janelle chose it.
- 1:13:53Yeah, how do you admit that? Jesus Christ, literally this was
- 1:13:59fucking wrong. When you let your like you let
- 1:14:03go of your family and walk away for this.
- 1:14:06How do you admit that? And how do you go back?
- 1:14:11And I don't know. It must have been like a literal
- 1:14:14fundamental part of her. Like even today, season 20 which
- 1:14:18is on right now in real time, she references her faith and the
- 1:14:23calling. Like she I think she still
- 1:14:25probably would be in polygamy if it happened to work for her and
- 1:14:29work for her relationships. I think it actually probably
- 1:14:32would work for her if she had found the right.
- 1:14:35Yeah, I think so. Too family to be a part.
- 1:14:37Of I think she's the one that's really dedicated to the
- 1:14:40lifestyle. Yeah.
- 1:14:41And look, I'm not, I'm not about the religion part of it, but
- 1:14:44like, if you want to be Polly, yeah, all the power to you.
- 1:14:48But it's not a way to fix relationships.
- 1:14:52You cannot be Polly under duress.
- 1:14:54You cannot be forced into it. It's not going to fix anything.
- 1:14:56It's not a Band-Aid that's going to work and completely heal you
- 1:15:01like it's. Like when you and your husband
- 1:15:03try to bring in that second wife and it just was it just it?
- 1:15:06Just didn't work. Didn't work.
- 1:15:08Now we went on a trip to Florida and she didn't come back with
- 1:15:12us. Oh.
- 1:15:16My God, there's not. There's no ongoing
- 1:15:17investigations. Anyway, we went off on a
- 1:15:23tangent, but I think rest. In peace, Monica.
- 1:15:25I think it's pertinent because we're getting into this, this
- 1:15:28second episode together and we haven't had a chance to shoot
- 1:15:31the shit about all this. So I like this.
- 1:15:33I like it. Even when Kody and Christine are
- 1:15:37walking away from the helicopter, they're showing them
- 1:15:39like exiting the little scene and they look so uncomfortable,
- 1:15:44like they don't even walk well together with each other.
- 1:15:46It's very strange. You know what?
- 1:15:48Give them the benefit of the doubt.
- 1:15:50If the helicopter was still coptering, perhaps they were
- 1:15:55like blown and they didn't have their balance or something.
- 1:15:58OK. Sure, we'll go with that.
- 1:16:01Meanwhile, the helicopter is completely off.
- 1:16:03Yeah, meanwhile, like you're giving them a lot the grace.
- 1:16:05Yeah, yeah. And Christine does volunteer
- 1:16:07something like I'll be more grateful.
- 1:16:10So he does. No, she's, well, they go to like
- 1:16:12an ice cream shop or something and she's like cuddling in on
- 1:16:15him, like hardcore cuddling in on him.
- 1:16:18Like, yeah, she kind of looks like she's gonna fall asleep.
- 1:16:20Like she's had a really long day and she's tired and she's
- 1:16:24cuddling in on him instead. She's like I, I just like, I
- 1:16:28know I need to be more grateful. And it's gross because she's
- 1:16:31regurgitating this puke from Meri back.
- 1:16:34At him word for word, yeah. Which is only going to cement in
- 1:16:39his mind, yeah, you're not being very great.
- 1:16:41Like this is what I'm. This is my experience.
- 1:16:43It's OK, I don't need to change. It's like, yeah, you're she's
- 1:16:46only reinforcing that she is the problem to him.
- 1:16:49Look at this bread I'm bringing now.
- 1:16:51I just got you a helicopter ride.
- 1:16:54Yeah. There's this like, unhappy and
- 1:16:57ungrateful narrative around Christine that is being placed
- 1:17:01upon her and that she is like taking.
- 1:17:05She's just taking. Well, that also goes into being
- 1:17:10a stay at home mom and like you said.
- 1:17:14She just gave birth to Truly. We'd later find out that she has
- 1:17:17postpartum depression, which they don't bring up in the show
- 1:17:19at this point. It's only that later we find
- 1:17:22this out that's a whole other element.
- 1:17:25I think a lot of stay at home moms have that guilt too.
- 1:17:27I I stayed at home with our first born for 10 months and it
- 1:17:31was extremely hard for me as somebody who had worked my
- 1:17:34entire life and provided for myself my entire life.
- 1:17:38It was hard for me to take on that role and feel like I was
- 1:17:43doing all that I could do for my family.
- 1:17:46Even though it's like a full time job times 1000 because it's
- 1:17:5224/7, not 8 hours a day. Yeah.
- 1:17:54So I think that this is put on her in a way that's unfair
- 1:17:59because she is the stay at home mom of the group.
- 1:18:04I don't know. And with dealing with this
- 1:18:06postpartum depression, having a newborn, I'm not sure how old
- 1:18:11truly is at this point, but she's still very young.
- 1:18:14Yeah. And Christine is navigating
- 1:18:18these emotions of feeling like her husband doesn't probably
- 1:18:22really love her, isn't supporting her in the way that
- 1:18:26she needs, and then she's having her sister wife.
- 1:18:29Yeah, tell her that she just needs to suck it up, buttercup.
- 1:18:32Yeah, well, she's navigating this depression by herself.
- 1:18:35Well, she just had a baby and her husband literally left
- 1:18:38during her birth so that he could be with this.
- 1:18:42Yeah. Oh my God, I it's so selfish.
- 1:18:45It's so selfish to bring in another wife while you have a
- 1:18:50wife that is pregnant. I mean that should be all about
- 1:18:55her making making a life not easy.
- 1:19:00But when you have your brood, I mean, this is that was child
- 1:19:03#156I don't even know. I mean, like he, it's like it's
- 1:19:08a Thursday. Like it's not really a big deal
- 1:19:10to him. He doesn't even care about
- 1:19:12holding his children. That's so true, he can't even
- 1:19:14hold a baby right? Yeah, it's weird.
- 1:19:17Now we're going to move on to Robyn segment.
- 1:19:19We all love Robyn, that square jog bitch.
- 1:19:23The moment we've been waiting for.
- 1:19:25Everyone's been waiting on the edge of their seat to hear about
- 1:19:28Robyns date. But before we get to the date,
- 1:19:31everyone is sick and coughing at Robyn's house.
- 1:19:35Everybody's sick, all the children are sick, everybody's
- 1:19:38sick. And it makes me happy that all
- 1:19:40of her children are sick. She doesn't seem sick, so
- 1:19:43whatever. No, she doesn't like.
- 1:19:45Good on her. What's up with that immune
- 1:19:47system? Give me some of that.
- 1:19:48Give me some of that, Robyn. She's like, I'm not even human.
- 1:19:51Like oh, that makes sense. Like do you take echinacea?
- 1:19:53What? Robyn says that she and Kody
- 1:19:56haven't been out on a date since Solomon was born.
- 1:20:00And of course I'm going like, well, when was Sullivan born?
- 1:20:02Like 3 weeks ago? Like I mean, I don't know how
- 1:20:04old he is. If it's February, he was born in
- 1:20:06October. In the last episode, the first
- 1:20:08episode wasn't it that he was two months old?
- 1:20:11Sure. So if this is only the second
- 1:20:13episode, I would assume that he's like.
- 1:20:16If we're talking around the time of a daddy daughter dance for
- 1:20:20Valentine's Day, like let's just say that week, you're right,
- 1:20:23then that would be February and he was born in October, so we
- 1:20:26got November, December, January. So maybe he's 3-4 months old.
- 1:20:29Why would the first episode be that long before this?
- 1:20:32I'm sorry this is getting off. No, I, I, I don't know.
- 1:20:36It's very weird their. Production schedule, I mean, the
- 1:20:39last episode was about the Christmas rental, right?
- 1:20:42So that was back in December. So even October to December,
- 1:20:45that would be two months, and now you're adding another month
- 1:20:47or two. Who knows what their filming
- 1:20:49schedule was all about? Well, yeah, this goes into
- 1:20:51production like sometimes episodes were meant to be part
- 1:20:54of another season, and then they pull them into another season
- 1:20:57and it just doesn't even make sense.
- 1:20:58But yeah, they just hope the viewers like.
- 1:21:01In the last the lost tell Alls at the end of season 3, they
- 1:21:04reference footage that's going to come up, I believe in the
- 1:21:07next episode where Robyn and and Christine sit down at a
- 1:21:10breakfast and they're talking about something like they go out
- 1:21:12to a meal and they reference that in the Lost Tell Alls.
- 1:21:16So the tell Alls that this this is there's something with season
- 1:21:203 and 4 where it was all filmed like there's a break in the
- 1:21:25season that wasn't supposed to be there or.
- 1:21:26Something they did show a clip of that at the beginning of this
- 1:21:29episode. Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:21:30Yeah, which they referenced at the end of Season 3.
- 1:21:34So there's footage all over the place here.
- 1:21:36Yeah, I feel like the Tell All might have the Tell all happened
- 1:21:40that they aired for Season 3, I'm assuming happened after what
- 1:21:45we're seeing right now, because they're referencing stuff that
- 1:21:47hasn't even happened in the show yet in the Tell All.
- 1:21:50So it's weird. It's all over the place.
- 1:21:52This is where it's production whatnotness.
- 1:21:55Main point being that Robyn claims that they haven't been
- 1:21:58out in three or four months on a date.
- 1:22:00OK, well, I don't know. Is that does that sound crazy?
- 1:22:04I don't know that that sounds crazy.
- 1:22:05First date since the baby's been born.
- 1:22:07It does not sound crazy. At point, I mean, you know, no,
- 1:22:11I don't think people are like, oh, I'm leaving my month old
- 1:22:13child at home while going out on a date.
- 1:22:15I don't think that's the most common thing.
- 1:22:17I mean, I think that my in laws or my mom probably would come
- 1:22:25over and let us sleep while she watched the newborn, but we
- 1:22:29didn't even want to go anywhere. We were like, please let me get
- 1:22:33some sleep. But that was because, hey, you
- 1:22:35were both in the house all the time with the newborn, as
- 1:22:38opposed to once every four days. Right, right.
- 1:22:41Yeah, Yeah. That gift of Kody.
- 1:22:44And you know that Kody was spending more time at Robyn's
- 1:22:47than anywhere else, so there's no way that Robyn was only
- 1:22:50seeing Kody once every four days.
- 1:22:52There's just no way he had to stop by that house every day.
- 1:22:55And he used the baby as an excuse.
- 1:22:57Yeah, of. Course.
- 1:22:58She just had a baby. I have to be.
- 1:23:00There, she just had a baby. Christine's at home going like
- 1:23:02Casey. Ya see ya this weekend with
- 1:23:04Hurley. Is still technically a baby.
- 1:23:07Like totally totally her little bald baby.
- 1:23:09Truly, I love that. Baby's a bald baby I know if she
- 1:23:13doesn't have hair for a hot minute, it's so cute.
- 1:23:15I love that she does not have hair, like it's one of my
- 1:23:17favorite. She's so freaking cute.
- 1:23:19She's so cute. Yeah.
- 1:23:22Robyn lets us know that Kody is there 100% for her kids from
- 1:23:28another sperm donor. Her abusive acts that we don't
- 1:23:31know anything about. Can't buy into that story at
- 1:23:33all. But it's lovely that Kody shows
- 1:23:37up so much for her children and he talks about, you know, being
- 1:23:41the father to someone else's children or like, you know what
- 1:23:43it what it means. It's like a big deal for him.
- 1:23:46He says that he needed to fall in love with her kids too, or he
- 1:23:51wouldn't have been able to bear the burden.
- 1:23:53Bearing that burden of being 1/4 of a father.
- 1:23:58I I just think that it's, it's just saying it all that.
- 1:24:06Kody has the savior complex and he's a great guy because he's
- 1:24:10taking on the burden of someone else's children.
- 1:24:12He only has like 15 of his own, so he's got to take on these
- 1:24:15others because he's so in love with Robyn and luckily he's so
- 1:24:19in love with her children too. It's funny because I want to
- 1:24:22call them bastard children, but they're not bastard children.
- 1:24:25They were his. Yeah, the parents were I.
- 1:24:27Still might call them the bastard children.
- 1:24:29Oh God, let the hate comments come on in, yeah?
- 1:24:31It's not the children's fault, Christopher.
- 1:24:34It's not their fault. It's not poor Aurora's fault,
- 1:24:36Aurora. Brianna fucking freaks.
- 1:24:40OK. Kody talks about how when he
- 1:24:44sees people out, people that he doesn't know, strangers come up
- 1:24:48and ask him. You know, you're out with one
- 1:24:49wife. I don't get it.
- 1:24:51You have all of these wives. How are you out with one wife?
- 1:24:54And while he's talking about this, I kind of, I kind of got
- 1:24:58distracted and nodded out and stopped listening because there
- 1:25:01was a moment of his cross eyedness where he got a little
- 1:25:04cross eyed. And I was like, Oh, Kody does
- 1:25:07have the cross eye because, you know, some of the kids have
- 1:25:10that, like, oh, mom and dad are cousins.
- 1:25:12Look, and we, you know, I haven't, we haven't dove too
- 1:25:16much into that, but there's a little bit of a like maybe mom
- 1:25:20and dad are related look to some of Christine's children
- 1:25:22particularly. And in this episode, Kody was
- 1:25:26definitely asked spins dad like, oh, the eyes were not looking in
- 1:25:30the same direction at one point. And I was like, Kody, oh, Kody,
- 1:25:34what's going on? Oh, Kody.
- 1:25:37Kody, Kody, Kody. What are you doing, Kody?
- 1:25:41Kody What are you looking at me in the eyes when you lie to me,
- 1:25:47Kody? This is why Christine's so
- 1:25:48pissed, because she's just like, look at me.
- 1:25:51And he's like, I can't, I'm looking at you and Robyn, don't
- 1:25:55you see? I'm trying?
- 1:25:56I'm trying. Meanwhile, she can't look at him
- 1:25:59either because she's looking at 2 directions.
- 1:26:01So that's why she's so pissed, because it's miscommunication
- 1:26:04but through the eyes. Through the eyes because they're
- 1:26:06inbred. Oh God.
- 1:26:08We're going to hell. Oh, well, we'll be in good
- 1:26:11company. All right.
- 1:26:14Robyn lets us know that when she met Kody, she was struck by
- 1:26:16lightning, which is not the first reference to the lightning
- 1:26:19strike. And it feels like it's a stolen
- 1:26:21story because one of the other wives, I think maybe all of the
- 1:26:25other wives, talk about seeing Kody being struck by lightning
- 1:26:28and then Robyn was struck by lightning.
- 1:26:29Because we made eye contact and it was like I was struck by
- 1:26:32lightning. She looked at his good eye and
- 1:26:34she was like. He needs a monocle to keep that
- 1:26:38good eye straight. Oh, I love you, Robyn.
- 1:26:44We're just going to tell you that I love you, Robyn.
- 1:26:46I love you very much. And of course we need to get
- 1:26:48beat over the head again by how Meri really, really wanted Robyn
- 1:26:53to be part of their union. And it just makes me want to
- 1:26:57puke because it gives Kody all the leeway to be the little
- 1:27:00fucking man whore that he was bringing Robyn in.
- 1:27:03Because, oh, Meri loved Robyn, and Meri wanted us to be
- 1:27:06together. He uses the words Meri was
- 1:27:09attracted to Robyn. In a sister wife sense.
- 1:27:14And had him ask her to dance. Then he found out she had kids.
- 1:27:21Oh yeah. From another Meri.
- 1:27:23Dun Dun Dun, the bastards. Yeah, bastard children, which
- 1:27:26are not bastards. How would you, how would you
- 1:27:28feel now like if you were one of those kids?
- 1:27:30And it's like it's referenced so much that like daddy didn't
- 1:27:35really want to be with mommy because of you, but he decided
- 1:27:38that he loved you. So now he is like, it's icky.
- 1:27:42I know, I feel like I don't know.
- 1:27:46For me, I'd probably just like water off a duck's back, but I
- 1:27:48don't know, Like I don't know what it means to be a child in
- 1:27:51this situation at all. Like, I've got to give all of
- 1:27:53these kids that have grown up and made it through this shit
- 1:27:56some kudos because like, what the fuck?
- 1:27:58Well, I mean. Even say.
- 1:28:00You're from the perfect family. Like your parents are still
- 1:28:02together. You're like.
- 1:28:04I'm the perfect child. Yes, you parents did have one
- 1:28:07extra kid that you know, they broke the mold from having two
- 1:28:12to three. To three.
- 1:28:13Yes, the oops baby. The what do they call that the?
- 1:28:17My mom would literally call family.
- 1:28:19Oh yeah, the atomic family. Atomic Family.
- 1:28:21Yes, my mom literally says that about the youngest in my family.
- 1:28:24She goes my oops baby and it's like, oh God, we should ask him,
- 1:28:27we should have him on the show. What was it like to be an oops
- 1:28:29baby? How did you feel to know that
- 1:28:32you potentially were in love, but now you are?
- 1:28:34You were a mistake, but we're happy you're here now.
- 1:28:37OK? Is Meri a big old lesbian?
- 1:28:38Yes. Does Meri want to dip in the
- 1:28:40woman pond? Yes.
- 1:28:42Does Meri want to eat Robyn out? She did at one point.
- 1:28:44Yeah. But Kody just takes advantage of
- 1:28:48it. So gross in this way of like,
- 1:28:50oh, Meri just loved Robyn and Meri was all about this.
- 1:28:53It's like you're just. It just seems like no matter
- 1:28:57what would have been the outcome, the story would have
- 1:29:00never changed that Meri wanted Robyn around and it gave Kody
- 1:29:03carte blanche to do whatever he wanted.
- 1:29:05You are 100% correct, that's exactly what it is.
- 1:29:08It's an excuse. And Meri was just like, Kody
- 1:29:11wants to give me some attention because I'm OK with this chick.
- 1:29:13So she was eating it up. She was eating it up.
- 1:29:16She could have even like we don't like really know.
- 1:29:19She could have even been like, oh, like she needs a friend
- 1:29:22right now. She needs people on her in her
- 1:29:24corner like let's befriend her as a family because she needs
- 1:29:29that. And maybe not even in like a
- 1:29:31sister wife way. Maybe she just honestly was
- 1:29:34like. This desperate single mother
- 1:29:36needs some help. Struggling.
- 1:29:38I have had a few friends in my life that I've made and then
- 1:29:44quickly found out that they were the type of person that was like
- 1:29:49an emotional vampire. And the reason they didn't have
- 1:29:52friends is because they literally sucked the life out of
- 1:29:56you. And you're like, sorry, I do not
- 1:30:00need this in my life. I'm a grown ass adult.
- 1:30:02Like this isn't high school. I don't need an emotional
- 1:30:04vampire. And I think that Robyn is an
- 1:30:07emotional vampire that glommed onto this family.
- 1:30:10And I think that we're hearing about that moment right now.
- 1:30:13Yeah, and she sucked them all dry.
- 1:30:14I think that she probably looked desperate.
- 1:30:16She probably looked like she was going through a hard time and
- 1:30:19Meri was reaching out and. Robyn, you know, she worked so
- 1:30:25hard supporting her children, doing what?
- 1:30:28Driving 5 hours to meet Kody at some dance?
- 1:30:31Oh, someone in the cults filming ATV show?
- 1:30:33What if I just accidentally meet him and I'm a single mom who
- 1:30:35needs all this help? And oh Meri, oh Meri, I can be
- 1:30:39all nice to Meri. She's a parasite.
- 1:30:41Yeah, totally. She glommed on to Meri and she
- 1:30:45got her free ride like a tick on a dog's back out of the shit
- 1:30:50hole that she was in. From a family on a camel's back
- 1:30:53to a tick on a dog's back. God, I sound really.
- 1:30:56Untreated. Yes, you can take Kimber out of
- 1:31:00the farm, but you can't take the farm out of Kimber.
- 1:31:02I used to be a horse girl when I was a young girl.
- 1:31:04Let's blame it on that. Oh God, she's been bareback.
- 1:31:10Robyn and Kody do go to a fondue dinner, which I was distracted
- 1:31:14by because it made me go, oh, I haven't been to a fondue dinner
- 1:31:17in a long time. I'm not even mad at fondue.
- 1:31:20You know the reason I'm not mad at fondue.
- 1:31:22A boy took me out on a date once to fondue to Melting Pot.
- 1:31:26He didn't let me know what our plans were.
- 1:31:28He just said we're something like middle of the road, like
- 1:31:31something nice, but not don't worry about being too fancy.
- 1:31:34We went downtown. We went to Melting Pot, and it
- 1:31:36was a late reservation. And we stayed so long that the
- 1:31:39whole restaurant was figured out.
- 1:31:40And the staff, like, totally knew we were on a date, like,
- 1:31:42whoever serving us and was like, don't worry about it, Take your
- 1:31:45time. And they were, like, doing their
- 1:31:46end of shift, whatever. And he dared me to stand up and
- 1:31:50pull my pants down. And I did.
- 1:31:52And I was like, oh, my God, this is so scandalous.
- 1:31:55And he truly loved me. Yeah.
- 1:31:57And. You were like fondue can do,
- 1:32:00fondue can do. So I was pantsless in a melting
- 1:32:03pot, but it was only for a second.
- 1:32:05But it did turn out to be quite a nice little romance in its own
- 1:32:09way. So I always view fondue fondly.
- 1:32:12I do like making Korean BBQ. Like I like making things at the
- 1:32:15table. It's so American.
- 1:32:18I just said Korean barbecue and you're like, it's so American.
- 1:32:21No, no, no. I mean like, like, let's stick
- 1:32:24all of our food in cheese and the cheese butter.
- 1:32:28The oil though, the meat in the oils, I like that.
- 1:32:31OK. And the dessert in.
- 1:32:33The naive about this I've never been like.
- 1:32:35Strawberries in the melted chocolate girl.
- 1:32:39It's not bad. The only reason I say that is
- 1:32:41because it's like a lush thing, like let's dip food in another
- 1:32:45food like that's. It's kind of like 70s or
- 1:32:48something. Something.
- 1:32:49It's like very yeah, American throwback.
- 1:32:51I think it's like sixties, 70s. You see at Goodwill a lot the
- 1:32:55little pots. But you do you love a goodwill.
- 1:32:59Love a good goodwill. Oh my God, I love it.
- 1:33:02You're gonna you're gonna show up one of these days at home
- 1:33:05with a fondue pot for your. Husband brought it up.
- 1:33:08Because what if we're? Gonna pull it out from under my
- 1:33:10seat right now and just like elegantly presented it.
- 1:33:13Oh God, I'd be like honey, there's no way to elegantly
- 1:33:16present a fondue pot. Yeah, I beg to differ and we'll
- 1:33:19see. Robyn asks Kody if he's too old
- 1:33:22for more children. That that was what she was
- 1:33:25wondering. Are you too?
- 1:33:27Were you too old? Kody?
- 1:33:29I thought, are you too old for more children?
- 1:33:31Because it's not that you don't have the capacity for it or.
- 1:33:35Not that you don't have the love for it or like, I forget what
- 1:33:40she what words she used, but it was basically do you have like
- 1:33:43the capacity, like the time for it, Not do you have the love for
- 1:33:48it to. Share She knew he had the love.
- 1:33:50Because he was offended when she asked that question.
- 1:33:53How dare you, How dare you. I could have 74 children and I'd
- 1:33:57have enough love for all of them.
- 1:33:58But wait, wait, wait, then she said.
- 1:34:01But you'll be 63 when Saul is 18 and.
- 1:34:04He goes. Oh, like, do I have the
- 1:34:08capacity? He was, I think when he heard
- 1:34:10the numbers like 63 and 18, because he can't probably do
- 1:34:14math on his own. He heard the numbers and was
- 1:34:16like, oh shit, yeah, you're right.
- 1:34:18Like, oh, I will be 63 one day, scary.
- 1:34:21And my child will only be graduating from high school.
- 1:34:24Scary. Yeah.
- 1:34:25And they just had a baby and she's not done having babies.
- 1:34:30No. So he's probably going like, oh,
- 1:34:32fuck. I also feel like it's a little
- 1:34:35weird because 63, early 60s is an odd age in the sense of is it
- 1:34:40too old to have kids graduating from high school?
- 1:34:43Like, I don't know. I kind of feel like when I was
- 1:34:46young, when friends had older parents, I would be a little
- 1:34:49jealous because I felt like they always got to be a little more
- 1:34:51spoiled and they got a little, I got better stuff and they had
- 1:34:55better lives. I don't know.
- 1:34:56I had the opposite feeling. My mom had me when she was 33,
- 1:35:02and so I guess my mom was old for my friend group maybe, or my
- 1:35:08age group. Now, my mom's on the older side
- 1:35:11at the time, and I always felt like my friends with younger
- 1:35:15moms got to do more and got to have more fun.
- 1:35:18That could have been because of like our economic standing too.
- 1:35:21And I was like a kid or a teenager.
- 1:35:24I didn't think of it that way, but I always was like, oh, I got
- 1:35:28fun young mom like. Fun young mom, yes.
- 1:35:31I was thinking more like they got a good car, they got to go
- 1:35:34to the school they wanted, like they OK, had a little bit more.
- 1:35:37I'm thinking from the lens of privilege.
- 1:35:39So that's not. Well, I'll tell you, as someone
- 1:35:42that had the older parents in her grade, I definitely didn't
- 1:35:44get any of that shit. But that's that's economic.
- 1:35:47You didn't have a rust rose gold colored coppered convertible to
- 1:35:52get you? No, and at that age I probably
- 1:35:55would have loved. I know, right?
- 1:35:58I would have been OK with it. While they're at this dinner,
- 1:36:01which totally feels fake and staged and stupid.
- 1:36:04The whole thing feels just ridiculous.
- 1:36:06Yeah. And Robyn suggests that maybe
- 1:36:08they call Maddie, who's watching the kids, to see if she can
- 1:36:11watch the children for longer so they could potentially hit up a
- 1:36:14movie. I was like, this is so fake.
- 1:36:17The whole thing was so fake. Did we mention they have the
- 1:36:20baby with them this whole time? No tall is with them.
- 1:36:23We didn't. Even mention that no, they have
- 1:36:26the baby at the restaurant with them and then she suggests a
- 1:36:29movie after Kody says oh the night's young.
- 1:36:32She goes well maybe we could go to a movie.
- 1:36:35Babies in the movie theaters. Fuck right off.
- 1:36:39So fake. Yeah, so fake.
- 1:36:41The whole scene is fake. I've been to a movie once that
- 1:36:45someone had brought a baby into and I was a teenager and it was
- 1:36:51a Star Wars movie and I'm a huge Star Wars fan and I was so
- 1:36:54pissed. I was like, shut that baby up.
- 1:36:57Shut that baby. Up that baby Up.
- 1:37:00She's like, we're going to the 930 screening of blah blah,
- 1:37:04blah, and we're bringing our newborn in a like travel
- 1:37:07bassinet. Like Jesus Christ, woman, this
- 1:37:09whole thing was fake. It was so fake.
- 1:37:11Even when they're sitting at dinner, it was like God, did
- 1:37:14they like rent out part of the restaurant for this?
- 1:37:16Like it just didn't even feel real.
- 1:37:18The whole thing felt super sage. Of course all of their dates
- 1:37:21feel staged, they're all for production, but this one felt
- 1:37:25very like Oh my God. But I guess it is just two
- 1:37:28people sitting at a table talking about nothing.
- 1:37:32But this goes back to like what I was saying at the beginning,
- 1:37:36that this is only episode 2 of the season and we're seeing a
- 1:37:40huge lifestyle change for them right now.
- 1:37:42Right. Yeah.
- 1:37:43New car, helicopter rides and what's about to happen in the
- 1:37:48next season? Going out to fancy dinner?
- 1:37:51Yep, that this is not stuff that they were doing before when they
- 1:37:54were living on. Probably on government they
- 1:37:56were. Crunching numbers before Janelle
- 1:37:58was literally crunching numbers. We can't buy a new sleeping bag.
- 1:38:02The car being bonus from his job.
- 1:38:07Do you not buy it? I don't buy it for a minute
- 1:38:10unless he works for Meri Kay. They give out cars when you
- 1:38:13reach a certain amount of sales. Did work for Meri Kay maybe.
- 1:38:17I mean it's now I'm putting this together.
- 1:38:19It's rose gold. I mean hell.
- 1:38:22The only reason I think that there's probably legitimacy in
- 1:38:25it being a a work related thing is because he already had the
- 1:38:29white Lexus, like he already had a convertible.
- 1:38:33So to buy another one, one that's a different color for
- 1:38:37seemingly no reason, would be even just oddly excessive.
- 1:38:41For him, for a narcissist. That wants.
- 1:38:44But why would he pick that car? I don't even know it's only a
- 1:38:47Nissan. Either way, it's weird.
- 1:38:50It is weird, he. Has no taste, though I think
- 1:38:51we've learned that he. Does have no taste.
- 1:38:54I mean look at his fourth wife. So yes, another display of money
- 1:38:58is going to come up, which is part of the gifts for Meri.
- 1:39:03We're going to have a birthday party for Meri and Dayton.
- 1:39:07Joint birthday party Everybody's favorite thing to do is share a
- 1:39:10birthday. Now they do give a shout out at
- 1:39:13the beginning to how this has brought Dayton closer to Meri.
- 1:39:18I kind of believe, I don't give her thinking the face of like
- 1:39:21that emoji that's like I'm broken, you know, I kind of
- 1:39:26believe it because I think that Dayton will a reference.
- 1:39:30I'm not sure if in the show they've talked about his
- 1:39:32Asperger's yet. They.
- 1:39:34Brought it up. Okay, and you know, there's some
- 1:39:37assimilation issues with the other boys and like him getting
- 1:39:40along. That's right because Peyton
- 1:39:42walks with him now to school on the bus.
- 1:39:44Like they've talked about some stuff with him being treated
- 1:39:47like an outsider, being perceived as an outsider and
- 1:39:50maybe acting as an outsider. There's an element of truth in
- 1:39:54probably mostly from Meri's perspective that like, oh,
- 1:39:58there's this thing we have in common.
- 1:40:00She probably doesn't mind because he's an outsider to be
- 1:40:03like, okay, let's do this thing together.
- 1:40:05It gives them a bond. I didn't feel like it was
- 1:40:07bullshit. I felt like it was like, that
- 1:40:09makes sense. Yeah, I didn't feel like it was
- 1:40:11bullshit, but I also think that it's a way for her to make
- 1:40:14herself feel good. Well, sure, but we all need
- 1:40:16that. Okay.
- 1:40:19If they need someone, listen, I share a birthday with no one.
- 1:40:23And if I shared a birthday with someone, well, no, I do share a
- 1:40:26birthday with Aubrey Plaza and Ariana Grande.
- 1:40:29You told me this before. I know I'm obsessed because I'm
- 1:40:32beautiful and talented and so it makes sense.
- 1:40:35But you're not the type of person that would like give a
- 1:40:38homeless person money and then go and put it on your Facebook
- 1:40:42page, right? Well, no, I would never give a
- 1:40:44homeless person money. Stop.
- 1:40:48Let me tell you. I'm terrible.
- 1:40:50You set me up for that. Oh God, no.
- 1:40:52I mean all my all the things I do good for other people to get
- 1:40:56attention. I don't put it online.
- 1:40:57I just tell people in person. Yeah, right.
- 1:41:01You do the good deed out of the goodness of your heart, and you
- 1:41:03don't try to brag about it. Yeah, that's what I meant, yes.
- 1:41:06Yeah. All I'm going to say is that it
- 1:41:08didn't seem staged to me that their birthdays are on the same
- 1:41:12day and that it means something to someone.
- 1:41:14I think it probably does mean something to someone.
- 1:41:16So that's all I mean. Fair enough.
- 1:41:18There's some voice overs while the party's getting set up.
- 1:41:22Of course, you know, Meri's got her leg up.
- 1:41:24She's got her her hair knee brace on.
- 1:41:26She's got her crutches. She's handicapped.
- 1:41:30Meri is handicrapped. And that's where And that's
- 1:41:33what's going on in this episode. Now, Kody says that there are
- 1:41:36challenges to blending our families and he's on the couch
- 1:41:41with Robyn for a spotlight moment.
- 1:41:42And he shares an example of how Maddie shared a photo with her
- 1:41:46and Solomon on social media. And he almost cries.
- 1:41:51She. Starts like tearing up.
- 1:41:52Yeah, like he gets for Clamped. Yeah.
- 1:41:56The problem with Kody is like, I feel like if this was coming
- 1:41:59from another person, I would have some feels about it.
- 1:42:02Like I would be like that is cute like.
- 1:42:04Heart warming. It is a symbol of your family
- 1:42:08coming together. But because it's Kody, I'm like,
- 1:42:10Oh my God. Well, and it's like, what are
- 1:42:13your kids going to do? Be an asshole to a baby?
- 1:42:15Like come on. I don't know, Like they keep
- 1:42:19bringing it up. Like, we just didn't think that
- 1:42:21the kids were going to treat him like a brother.
- 1:42:25Yeah, right. Well, like, like throw him down
- 1:42:27the stairs. What do you want him to do?
- 1:42:29Like I don't know. And you're asking her to babysit
- 1:42:32like most. Teenage girls are probably going
- 1:42:34to post a photo of their new stepbrother, their half brother,
- 1:42:37their true brother, whatever the situation is on their socials
- 1:42:42being like hey baby brother. Like it's not exactly the most
- 1:42:45moving thing. Once again, if it was in my
- 1:42:48family I would probably find it to be touching.
- 1:42:50It's just that it's Kody so I don't.
- 1:42:53As they're transitioning back to the actual birthday celebration.
- 1:42:56I had an LOL moment because I think Christine says to one of
- 1:43:00the kids no running in Meri's house.
- 1:43:03Oh my gosh, I missed that. That's.
- 1:43:06Funny, I was so happy because anytime there's a moment
- 1:43:10captured of people being told to act appropriately in Meri's
- 1:43:14house, I love it. It's a gift from God.
- 1:43:17That's. Funny, Meri and Dayton are
- 1:43:19opening gifts on the couch. What kind of gift does Meri get?
- 1:43:23Do No Does Dayton? Does Dayton open anything that
- 1:43:26we care about? I don't think so.
- 1:43:28I didn't. I didn't know anything about
- 1:43:31Dayton's gifts. Yeah, I didn't know anything.
- 1:43:33Yeah, but Meri gets a special gift.
- 1:43:37What does she get, darling? Well, it's very, very special,
- 1:43:41and Kody even jokes about how he's going to do this.
- 1:43:46He wraps a piece of paper up in a jewelry box.
- 1:43:49Oh, in a ring box? And another child makes a joke.
- 1:43:52He's proposing again. Everyone thinks it's so funny.
- 1:43:59And she proceeds to open the little ring box and unfold the
- 1:44:03piece of paper. And what do we have?
- 1:44:05The back of the piece of paper is to us and then she's smiling
- 1:44:08down like a 12 year old girl who just got her first like little
- 1:44:12love note at school. She's like, and I'm like, Oh my
- 1:44:15God, girl, stick your chin out. Oh, and it's like a collage that
- 1:44:22they put together of Google pics on a piece of paper and they
- 1:44:28printed it out and it's a trip to Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
- 1:44:34Like printed on the home printer on a piece of paper.
- 1:44:36They took like a word doc and they totally Google image photos
- 1:44:42of Playa del Carmen and then they used like word art and
- 1:44:45wrote Playa del Carmen like over it.
- 1:44:48It's not even like a ticket or like anything.
- 1:44:52Yeah, not even like a brochure from the travel agent.
- 1:44:54Nothing like, right. Like a piece of paper he printed
- 1:44:56off from the computer. Yeah, that basically signifies
- 1:44:59that they're going to go on a trip to.
- 1:45:00Mexico. And what's funny is that they've
- 1:45:02showed in the preview her opening this box and, like,
- 1:45:05reading a letter. And I was like, oh, my God, he
- 1:45:08put a piece of paper in a box. Yeah.
- 1:45:10Like. Oh so.
- 1:45:12They were teasing it the whole episode with the like coming up
- 1:45:15ONS Yeah and after the commercial breaks, and I don't
- 1:45:19want to, it was like a let down, but it was just like, Oh my God,
- 1:45:22'cause they kept showing Meri looking at it like yeah, it was
- 1:45:25a piece of. Gold like she's gonna cry like
- 1:45:27he wrote her a poem like and it's like Charles Dickens over
- 1:45:31there. Crappy word art printed on a
- 1:45:33piece of paper, but it does signify that she gets to go on
- 1:45:36another trip to Mexico. Well, yeah, And they say a
- 1:45:40couple times in this episode that they didn't do anything for
- 1:45:43her birthday or anniversary last year.
- 1:45:46And as Christine lovingly pointed out, they haven't gone
- 1:45:51anywhere together lately. Kody's just been ignoring you,
- 1:45:56Meri. They.
- 1:45:57Haven't even left the state together in the last year.
- 1:46:01It seems like Kody's been avoiding you at any cost, Meri.
- 1:46:05Oh yeah. Oh.
- 1:46:06God, and then Meri's like, I know, why do you think I've
- 1:46:08pretended to have my knee pop out of place?
- 1:46:10I need some attention. Oh boy.
- 1:46:13And then she got the trip to Mexico.
- 1:46:15See, it's all working out in Meri's paper.
- 1:46:18After we are given this touching moment of Meri unfolding a piece
- 1:46:22of paper. Oh God.
- 1:46:26We come to Meri and Dayton blowing out the candles on a
- 1:46:31cake together and this moment was cute.
- 1:46:35They were both blowing out the candles on the cake and it was
- 1:46:37cute Yes, it was cute. I got to I got to give him a
- 1:46:40moment here that was cute. If you're going to share a
- 1:46:43birthday, you better both blow your spit all over the same
- 1:46:46cake. You know, that's what I.
- 1:46:47Was then share it with the rest of the.
- 1:46:49Family. I know because Meri's so old.
- 1:46:51There's so many candles. Right.
- 1:46:53And her dentures fell out and everything on the cake like God
- 1:46:57damn. Like Dayton's turning, however
- 1:46:59old. At least he's 13, let's say.
- 1:47:01And then Meri's turning 74. So there's there's 123 candles
- 1:47:04on this cake and they blow, they do manage to blow them all out,
- 1:47:07but then like to pull all of those candles out of that cake
- 1:47:10and cut it up for the like $75.00 of the family missing.
- 1:47:14Yeah, like everyone's like I got 2 bites of cake with half a inch
- 1:47:16of frosting. Like, what if there was like a
- 1:47:18candle left and it was a trick candle and Kody goes surprise
- 1:47:22fifth wife coming in. You didn't blow that last one.
- 1:47:26You have a. Girlfriend Meri.
- 1:47:29We got another girlfriend for Meri.
- 1:47:31Oh my God, I would. Have died.
- 1:47:34Thank you for that bizarre hypothetical.
- 1:47:38Another imaginary moment in this episode.
- 1:47:41Kody's trick candle. We're going to start some lore.
- 1:47:46Listen if he this. Is why the episode's missing
- 1:47:48because there was supposed to be a fifth wife, however they cut
- 1:47:53it. They cut it out.
- 1:47:54That's why this episode is not on Discovery Plus Conspiracy.
- 1:48:00Oh boy. So to wrap up the episode, all
- 1:48:04the adults are on the couch. Meri's there with her knee brace
- 1:48:08and her crutches. Elevated by her 500 presents.
- 1:48:11Yeah, she's got this piece of paper folded under her leg.
- 1:48:15And the adults all say that they all have to work hard on their
- 1:48:18relationships. Yes.
- 1:48:21And that's the end of the episode.
- 1:48:24But and so, you know, another lovely episode from the Brown
- 1:48:30family. I really feel like I learned a
- 1:48:32lot. So much.
- 1:48:33I feel like I also didn't learn anything so.
- 1:48:38Yeah, well. We have a complicated
- 1:48:40relationship with the Browns. Very complicated.
- 1:48:42Now honey, the time has come for you to lip sync for your life,
- 1:48:48your life, for you to choose a mustard seed and a shit stain.
- 1:48:54Let's start this week. Let's start on a positive note,
- 1:48:57and let's start with a mustard seed.
- 1:48:59Honey, who are you going to give your mustard seed to?
- 1:49:02Who has given you something to plant in the ground and let it
- 1:49:06grow? I will say my mustard seed goes
- 1:49:11to Janelle for continuing her workouts for six months and
- 1:49:16having her non skill victories because that is kind of, you
- 1:49:23know, she, she deserves it. She worked hard.
- 1:49:25Yep. Applause all around.
- 1:49:28I agree that is a great mustard seed because yeah, like when
- 1:49:32you're doing the whole self-care vibes, it's easy to knock off
- 1:49:36after a month or two or three. So to stick with it for six
- 1:49:39months is a very good indicator. Love that for Janelle.
- 1:49:43Also love that she doesn't have to like, hoist herself or rock
- 1:49:46herself off the couch. It's a beautiful thing.
- 1:49:48Right. We've all been there.
- 1:49:51My mustard seed this episode. Oh goodness, my mustard seed.
- 1:49:56It just sucks when they're all so terrible.
- 1:50:00Yeah. I mean, there was a lot of like
- 1:50:02corny there. Was a lot of like who gives a
- 1:50:05fuck in this episode. So I think I'm going to give my
- 1:50:10mustard seed and this will not be the first time I'm giving my
- 1:50:13mustard seed to Logan. We didn't hear that much from
- 1:50:17Logan in this episode, but he was going to escort his sister
- 1:50:20Gwendolyn to the school dance. And that's very, very cute,
- 1:50:23especially as like a senior in high school, Like I don't, you
- 1:50:27know, when I was a senior in high school, I wasn't going to
- 1:50:29my little siblings dances. Like I would be like, no, I'm
- 1:50:33too cool for this. I need to go get high with my
- 1:50:35friends, get a little stoned. We need to drive around and
- 1:50:38listen to little Kim and pretend like we're real cool.
- 1:50:40So I have to give kudos where kudos is due and that is to.
- 1:50:44Logan yes, that actually is a very good one.
- 1:50:48I wouldn't have even thought of that because yes he's not really
- 1:50:51in this episode but very good Big Brother vibes.
- 1:50:55Absolutely yes. Now shit stain should come a
- 1:50:58little easier to us. Well, maybe not because there's
- 1:51:01so many shit stains. Who are you going to go with,
- 1:51:05darling? It's going to be Meri for giving
- 1:51:08a horrible advice about Kody not being able to or having to
- 1:51:13change because he is indeed a man.
- 1:51:16Yeah, yeah, rough. Very rough.
- 1:51:19Real, real rough. Yeah, fuck Meri's advice giving.
- 1:51:23No one should ever take advice for Meri.
- 1:51:25Literally even today she's trying to be like worthy up and
- 1:51:29like, come take advice for me. And it's like, no, no.
- 1:51:31To be a no for any dog. Anyone I care about, I would be
- 1:51:36like don't do it. Don't do.
- 1:51:38It. The camel with the fly on its
- 1:51:40back, turns its head slowly, wags.
- 1:51:42Talon says no, don't take advice from.
- 1:51:47Her. Oh, Meri.
- 1:51:47No. The flag goes don't do it.
- 1:51:51I'm telling you, don't do it, Christine.
- 1:51:53No, Meri, no. Oh, these sounds are terrible.
- 1:51:56OK, my shit stain is going to be Kody Brown because Kody Brown is
- 1:52:05an idiot. Kody Brown is a narcissist.
- 1:52:09Yeah, Kody Brown thinks the world revolves around him.
- 1:52:15And for wearing white at his wedding and shoving his finger
- 1:52:18into Meri's mouth and then singing as if he was the star,
- 1:52:23it's all. It's like it was obvious from
- 1:52:25day one it was just no, no, no, no, no.
- 1:52:27The red flags were there. The white flags were there.
- 1:52:30White flags. There was a lot of white flags.
- 1:52:31A lot of ick. And you know what?
- 1:52:33I like to give him praise for being a cute little handsome
- 1:52:35young man. Because there are photos of him
- 1:52:37from when he was young where it's like, yeah, oh, strapping
- 1:52:39young red blooded, all American boy.
- 1:52:41Yeah, a little airy and a little whatever, but I'm a.
- 1:52:44Little bit of a lazy eye a. Little bit of a cute but he's
- 1:52:47looking but he's cute. Thumbs down, thumbs down.
- 1:52:51Definitely shit stain for Kody for sure.
- 1:52:54Whenever they show like old clips I'm just like pulling red
- 1:52:58flags from it for sure. Our keep sweet moment for this
- 1:53:01episode comes to us from K Cord. Hey Cord, this is a comment
- 1:53:06about the surrogacy offering from Robyn.
- 1:53:10Think about what Robyn gains from offering surrogacy to Meri.
- 1:53:13It feels strategic. She acts like a covert
- 1:53:16narcissist to give something that looks kind but later uses
- 1:53:20it for leverage. The surrogacy never happened,
- 1:53:24but the offer still created a sense of debt.
- 1:53:27Her nice gestures made Meri think loyalty to this day and
- 1:53:31blinded her to the point she owed her a divorce.
- 1:53:35Robyn still uses that gesture to keep Meri feeling obligated to
- 1:53:38the family. I mean that woman is insane.
- 1:53:43This. Is so true.
- 1:53:44We talked about that in the last episode together.
- 1:53:47Yes, absolutely. There's totally a sense of debt
- 1:53:51owed to Robyn because of this. Nothing was ever going to happen
- 1:53:54from it. And Robyn, whether she knew that
- 1:53:56or not, she was going to play it to be like, look at the nice
- 1:54:00things I'm doing for you, Meri and Meri.
- 1:54:02I tried. As a sense of debt, I'm sure
- 1:54:05this is a great example of how other people are listening to
- 1:54:08this show and see what's really happening.
- 1:54:12They hear what's really happening through our bullshit,
- 1:54:16they are still able to understand.
- 1:54:18Yep. Well, thank you K Chord for
- 1:54:20listening. Appreciate it.
- 1:54:21Thank you so much for your comment.
- 1:54:24And I see there's some people that have liked it, so obviously
- 1:54:26people are into it. Christopher, I just want to let
- 1:54:28you know if you ever meet a surrogate, my womb is your womb.
- 1:54:35Your womb is my womb. My womb is your womb.
- 1:54:38I am here for you. So should I get a sperm donor to
- 1:54:41impregnate you for my child? Oh God.
- 1:54:47At least it wouldn't have a lazy eye.
