- 0:14show on after marketing. So make sure you're checking
- 0:16that out as well and staying up to date guys.
- 0:19Today we want to talk about something slightly different.
- 0:21We've had so many kind of serious conversations in the
- 0:24last month or two and today we wanted to maybe take it in a
- 0:30more lighthearted approach and talking about whether we're
- 0:34getting old and I think it's kind of been a realization that
- 0:36said I need and I and the team have had really over the last
- 0:40few weeks. We had said I Lee's birthday of
- 0:42course a couple of weeks ago and I'm handle on now.
- 0:45We are at that age where we're not feeling as young as we used
- 0:49to maybe a few years ago. So we want to talk about
- 0:52Nostalgia and maybe bring back some of the best memories may be
- 0:56the worst ones as well that we had growing up as always I'm
- 1:00delighted to introduce my dearest.
- 1:02Chorister brother said I love always so I live Alaikum,
- 1:13salaam. How you doing, bro?
- 1:16I'm the law for the belated birthday wishes again.
- 1:19Yeah, young younger than ever. How's your week been?
- 1:25It's good. It's good.
- 1:27Every week. Life is good.
- 1:29The work continues. Yes, the grinder continues.
- 1:32All she said, we've now been doing aftermarket up for around
- 1:36about a year and I'm thinking like time has I passed so fast
- 1:41since we began and hand allow, it's come a long way.
- 1:46The the podcast is growing movement has grown.
- 1:48It got me thinking like life and time as we know from our Hadith
- 1:54and as we know from the relations of the Athenaeum
- 1:57Islam, it disappears like that it feels like yesterday I was in
- 2:02double science with a supply teacher and throwing paper
- 2:05airplanes and them and whatnot. And before, you know it you've
- 2:09doubled an age and you're doing crazy things and life is
- 2:13changing. You've got kids and family and
- 2:15whatnot. But The question that arises is
- 2:19all we getting too old. I don't think it will get into
- 2:24old, I think we are, you know, realizing how fast time is
- 2:29moving. And similar to the point you
- 2:32were mentioning is you know it's time is known by the nickname of
- 2:34the brink of I and you know what you were talking about this.
- 2:38Just now I was trying to remember my most earliest memory
- 2:41as a kid. So Random are almost eating ice
- 2:44cream like them. Yeah.
- 2:46Those the the white Magnum ice cream.
- 2:48Yeah. But a little flavor has been ill
- 2:49or something. This is the first thing that
- 2:51came to my head. The best, you know, I go so
- 2:53quick, you know, having children, they grow up so quick.
- 2:56Rory honey, you know, my eldest six.
- 3:00Now I'll show lat, you know, I was just flying for me, it's
- 3:04just the other day and it makes you realize, you know, you know
- 3:06what have we been doing our time?
- 3:07This is nice to reflect and I think this conversation I think
- 3:10it's good to bring up some old memories.
- 3:12Yeah, it's nice because we've also got a couple of boys
- 3:14Brothers behind the scenes as well, save most about a Sadiq
- 3:17friends of and everyone knows them.
- 3:19Of course, as part of the team, are you guys doing some running
- 3:22from the law? They come?
- 3:23Around how you? And that's nice to have you guys
- 3:26on. Don't see the three of you guys
- 3:29have grown up in the same Community?
- 3:31Yeah, and you all kind of like a few years, but we're very, very
- 3:35excited conversation. I think maybe we'll find out.
- 3:38Let me ask you a question. What is your first memory
- 3:42segments about of said a lie? What About Cha look is?
- 3:46Definitely not sandiana. We grew up in that sense.
- 3:49Yeah, I got nowhere else. He knows all this is two things,
- 3:54I think, one as kids, we always had like a group kids lot on.
- 3:59So a thing as a Darian, whatever.
- 4:03So we always connected through that and then after mosque, we
- 4:06play football with each other, or during the lecture or
- 4:10something. We and you'd meet your friends
- 4:13then mostly and you grew up with them.
- 4:16I think probably the friends. I've had the longest as those
- 4:19friends that grew up them with the best offer.
- 4:21I saw a picture of you guys. From 20, 25 years ago.
- 4:25It will Wing Reebok and Slazenger little closer need to
- 4:28post on the tail and your playing football.
- 4:34And you and said motive are and said Ali and would be nice to
- 4:38sort of a throwback pictures on Instagram.
- 4:40Yeah. Yeah, why not?
- 4:41Oh my God, I'm embarrassing them.
- 4:43I've something very good marketing for this podcast.
- 4:46Yeah, I'll finally get to see how it looks say to, you know,
- 4:51you know, you know, you know the worst thing.
- 4:53No, the best. I'll see how you look when you
- 4:54were 15. Well, obviously how you look
- 4:56when you're five obviously, the memories I have is different
- 5:04because I was born and brought up here and all I know is
- 5:07Northwest London a month. So there's so many people go
- 5:11through different memories for me.
- 5:13Like the streets, I live in the streets, I drive in this all
- 5:16I've ever known. I mean, so I've seen my
- 5:20community change from birth because my local, A mosque is a
- 5:23mosque has to go to from birth. Hmm.
- 5:25So my first school was a Moscow went to was at the Moscow into
- 5:29and like my friends are the same friends I had.
- 5:31When I was three years old for example, for years old and it's
- 5:35crazy because time flies so fast Animal Boy, wait till death.
- 5:38Yeah, no way. Yeah yeah I guess so my favorite
- 5:42memory going up, this is my shop.
- 5:44Say I know you're going to say what I think is in my head.
- 5:52Until forever. I remember when you used to come
- 5:54and ruin it, well, there are certainly they banned there.
- 5:57Oo Ki kids from coming in anymore.
- 5:58You know what? I'm not going to name names.
- 5:59Yeah, there's some some of the brothers.
- 6:02I remember I gave someone had concussion playing football.
- 6:14No, I don't know what happened but I had no idea.
- 6:30What we're talking about in my area of the mosque is name and
- 6:38it's a code your community. So of course we're very set in
- 6:41our ways who we know what how we behave and what not and
- 6:45generally speaking I don't we were misbehaving in compared to
- 6:48a rocky boys that called your boys are angels.
- 6:54I remember, I remember you lot coming at us.
- 6:57We probably were the same scoop over the same time as I see what
- 7:00all of them and I even organized a few of them.
- 7:02So I remember speaking with his boys and these damn iraki kids,
- 7:08they're ruining it. Like we used to have trying to
- 7:10football tournaments and we should try and play table,
- 7:12tennis. And these guys would come, and
- 7:14they're just wreck everything. I think we got invited to one
- 7:18stanmore football tournament as well.
- 7:20When we were really young guy Alan Shearer, yes, I cheer.
- 7:24Yay, Newcastle stuff. Yeah, member Correll was there
- 7:29and we didn't get invited back as well.
- 7:33Remember be sure. Well, GG, but she refused to
- 7:35bring us a show. Used to organize a.
- 7:37Yeah. So he's hoping the Rockies to
- 7:38the hospital. Honestly.
- 7:42I was supposed speak for you guys and your sentence.
- 7:46We had a table tennis like we had two things, very active yet
- 7:49table tennis. Is and football training.
- 7:52So we had a park down the road from the saying here and we pay
- 7:56a pound each every week to pay the trainer.
- 8:00You know what also is active every Friday during the modulus
- 8:03Hubble was sick without a racket.
- 8:15No, no. That's basically we played in
- 8:17school as well, not just in worse.
- 8:19What is that? And he was playing money on.
- 8:22I'll tell you what money up going on the kids, who does not
- 8:35understand Arabic was outside playing football.
- 8:37Yeah. I'm to one of the elders comes
- 8:38and kicks and kicks ass back inside.
- 8:41Yeah, something and you know how that used to happen to each one
- 8:44of us is they buy bunnies. Go toilet.
- 8:56So you guys like your closest friends and everything you built
- 9:02as a bond. Yeah.
- 9:04And supports as, as like a as like a hobby or anything, it
- 9:10builds like you said Brotherhood and bonds between people and
- 9:14like it teaches you, a lot of skills are your patients?
- 9:16There's a post by saying how dire is V.
- 9:19Now, if you guys follow him on Graham, he posted something so
- 9:22cool. Like a couple of weeks ago, it
- 9:24was about games board games. Yeah.
- 9:26He's like the lessons of life can be learned when you play.
- 9:31You know, for example, we talked about ideas and friendship was
- 9:33ironic because I read this post just off the Record.
- 9:35It's okay about how you get to know people Imam, Sadiq Ali
- 9:38Islam says through traveling and concerns of money.
- 9:42And when you anger them the three Hadith, right?
- 9:46The three criteria. And he makes economies like in
- 9:50Modern day times you could also add board games.
- 9:52So that list he is really interesting.
- 9:54He's like because when you're playing games with someone
- 9:56sports or board games, whatever like you're inside your
- 9:59imagination, you're inside a fake trivial game.
- 10:02It doesn't matter who wins who loses fun.
- 10:04People get angry people, cheat people, lie for example, and
- 10:08some people really don't care. He's like that will teach you.
- 10:11So many life lessons, when you're analyzing, I'm thinking
- 10:13like, bro, these things are so deep when you think about them,
- 10:17but when we were kids, that's all we knew like Eames what
- 10:20everything for us Sports and who play with, and making sure we
- 10:24win and all of that stuff. You know?
- 10:26I mean you know what, I miss a lot most of our maybe, you'd
- 10:29remember know, we grew up in central Seoul, although I think
- 10:35there was only like a limited set of families, I used to come
- 10:39more than just a Friday programs with that.
- 10:41Will come on like every Tuesday though.
- 10:43After Western, you know, Thursday, do I come in, Friday
- 10:45morning? Do I know, but like, there was
- 10:47always something going on. Well, those were the days
- 10:49honest. Because we're just now we have
- 10:51more lets, you know, I'm at mentioning games, we used to go
- 10:55ayp, a lot of memory wipe. He's on Safari project.
- 10:58Yes I think back then it was called MVP.
- 11:00Maybe and MVP or something. It was my voice project.
- 11:04My voice project. Yeah, I think it's still active
- 11:06now and these communities a lot of our communities together
- 11:17where we mix the Iraqis and the Iranians and the Hodges.
- 11:20And I remember I used to go boxing with ayp.
- 11:24We score team already game every game.
- 11:26He Parks. Yeah.
- 11:27And it keeps kids off the streets.
- 11:28You know, it's nice. It was really cool and like, you
- 11:31could go somewhere and you wouldn't feel pressure about
- 11:33how. That's definitely, I think
- 11:34something that she our communities need, and we will
- 11:36all share. Yeah, everyone, because we
- 11:40wasn't just, she had the mosque, we were shy, you know, you know,
- 11:43at the theme parks our show, Somewhere.
- 11:51Yeah, I feel like after it became open to everywhere
- 11:53everyone, I've lost it, we sort of swayed away the community
- 11:57because it you don't feel belong there anymore.
- 12:00Anyway, but shots them because that's not, I mean, generally
- 12:03anomie talk about this. I think all communities need
- 12:05this. These other things youth clubs,
- 12:07helps a lot with children going up because you know the youth
- 12:12today after issues are way more different hours you could say.
- 12:20You know, like for maybe for Our Generation because we didn't
- 12:23have social media to the same degree at all.
- 12:26We were not at home like on our headsets playing video games,
- 12:32the same degree, or like we went on tick-tocks rolling.
- 12:35We were like on the streets, we were out and about, you know, I
- 12:38mean and we are meeting people and that being on the road had
- 12:41its own challenges. Not that I think any of us were
- 12:44roadman but I think that she's just playing football in your
- 12:47local Alleyway. Yeah.
- 12:49Like I'll but I chances were A bit different.
- 12:50I would have fights on in Alleyways, for example, or like
- 12:53you we have challenges with, like, see a lot of like crime or
- 12:58over here or they're not a lot. At least for me, like, I didn't
- 13:02have, I didn't see way too much of it, but now kids have
- 13:06slightly different challenges and a lot of the things that
- 13:08they this is why I think that I'll be getting old because some
- 13:11of the things that they have in terms of challenges, I don't
- 13:13even know if I can relate to them.
- 13:15You know I mean what age do we want to discuss agent and under?
- 13:21Because I think for example that age group is completely
- 13:24different. There's one person who I don't
- 13:26think those buyers a Sonic bomb when I'm 20.
- 13:29I'm like to. Yeah nobody understands Yashin
- 13:31because I've like a when I was in secondary school like stuff
- 13:35for them was normal for me. It's like what the hell?
- 13:40This is black. So weird and strange, I'm not
- 13:42used to it but then I grew up like the way I Up around it and
- 13:46stuff is just you know you get used to it.
- 13:48My age is like a Cheesy Prime. I see the close-up first off.
- 13:56What's this Prime? Prime.
- 13:58Thank you to our sponsor but this is guys this is like a good
- 14:05example of what we mean by. Are we getting old like wacky
- 14:10wines selling this drink for doesn't make sense.
- 14:14Why are kids paying 100 pounds for energy drink?
- 14:18It makes no sense being the hunter.
- 14:19This is Gen Z versus what you call a Boomers Boomers.
- 14:24You know what? After the world war the baby's
- 14:28increased babies increase, because people returned from
- 14:30service is Gen, Z that coolers Boomers.
- 14:33Yeah, no idea. I was listening to a podcast
- 14:35year. The guy who's doing the podcast
- 14:37is 30/31. And he's been some is 24.
- 14:40It was like, yes was like and what will too?
- 14:44Guys born in like 1993. You think about like you're part
- 14:58of the team or something smart. Yeah.
- 15:03As we age we tend to forget things that are more important
- 15:06to you than we tend to focus on things which are important to
- 15:09us. I need to make money on a buy a
- 15:12house, pay my mortgage. You know things like that.
- 15:16We stop concerning ourselves with things like reputation and
- 15:18my jollies and Family Matters and what not and we forget about
- 15:23the younger generation have so much to offer potential and
- 15:27energy you know ambition but they don't get the attention
- 15:31really that, you know, because I think the communities back in
- 15:34the day is to give more platform to the youth and they do.
- 15:37Now we wrong as a big statements it is very I think it's very
- 15:42mixed. It really depends on.
- 15:44Center to Center. I think a lot of you is a
- 15:47platform whether I'm not talking about coming to recite or
- 15:49something, I'm talking about avoid giving them something to
- 15:52do, more than just, you know, your Friday lectures and you're,
- 15:57you know, a day and Ciara more. Like, when we grew up, we had,
- 16:01like, clubs table tennis. We had a, but comparing to what
- 16:06we had, for example, now, you got Harlequin London.
- 16:08Yeah. But that's, that's your
- 16:10community is here. It's lie.
- 16:12Still Community, which is three miles away.
- 16:15Full miles away is completely different and the like literally
- 16:21last weekend. My friends in the Moscow between
- 16:2725 and 30 organized a camp, camp fire weekend trip a getaway
- 16:32canoeing and rock climbing and campfires all of that with with
- 16:36shares and with kids who are between 13 and 16 follows they
- 16:40took about 60 children followed on this campfire thing.
- 16:44That it was and 30 girls or something crazy like that.
- 16:46And I'm thinking like those memories that that you know, to
- 16:51us is always volunteering for a weekend but to those kids they
- 16:55gonna remember that trip in like 2015, 20 years for the rest of
- 16:58their lives - but I made friends on that trip.
- 17:00But this is what I'm saying these kids like, for example,
- 17:02they'll need that guidance and know maybe they need us to hand
- 17:05hold them and to to do these things like to book, maybe it's
- 17:10because we had nothing else to do that.
- 17:11We had to create something together.
- 17:14I'll bore them. Yeah, I think we have the option
- 17:16to do a lot of things, but we were restricted as Muslims
- 17:20environments. We can go to.
- 17:22So it was vital for the community at that time to allow
- 17:26these things. Like my parents were always
- 17:28scared to. Let me go on my school trips.
- 17:31So I had to create my own trips for me to go on a trip maybe
- 17:33like if I told my mom or dad don't go to a sleepover, I think
- 17:37game over. I'm going to sleep over, fair
- 17:41enough. So back, we were able to have a
- 17:43childhood. I think a nice childhood by, you
- 17:47know, Islamic community. Giving us this opportunity.
- 17:49I said people who are parents of 15 year olds.
- 17:52Now, 10 years older than us, you know, saying and not that old.
- 17:58You think about it. You've talked about 40 year olds
- 17:59now and whatnot. Late thirties.
- 18:02Early forties those guys have 15 14 year old children now who are
- 18:06part of Of that generation. These guys themselves, they've
- 18:09been born and brought up in the same environment.
- 18:10We have the English-speaking, they're fully vocational,
- 18:13they're working the corporate life in some KPMG, tax audit
- 18:18role in the city 95 like the most bread and butter Western
- 18:22like role in life. You can imagine.
- 18:25Yeah well these guys if they're going to get their kids involved
- 18:28in anything is going to be whatever the mosque puts out
- 18:31there and it's going to be stuff that's extracurricular which
- 18:34benefits them in their CV, you know?
- 18:36I mean, Maybe our parents, or maybe the parents of of that
- 18:40generation will older than us. Their parents didn't have these
- 18:43options, you know. I mean, there wasn't like these
- 18:47like extracurricular things that they could send their kids to,
- 18:50you know, I mean hackathons and stuff like that, you know, I
- 18:53mean, but I will our Our Generation Now who have got
- 18:57children or expecting. Children shouldn't soon.
- 18:59Insha Allah, we got to think consciously like how can I make
- 19:03my youth or my children reached like Their fullest potential in
- 19:07every way communities home, communities week, then.
- 19:13Affect your kids. That's true.
- 19:14That's true. You know.
- 19:15I miss Arabic school. Like, we used to go.
- 19:19Every Saturday is no, it's to not just learn Arabic, when read
- 19:24Arabic a right Arabic and what not, we should have a good time
- 19:28like which one can also use it on, you know, this Arabic School
- 19:33saying I've never understood it. Okay, you guys are interested on
- 19:35you. Yeah you call them Arabic.
- 19:37Skunk a look. Well the primary function Arabic
- 19:42so School So the, the core of the school is to go to is you
- 19:46learn Arabic as the also, you had the Quran, you'll get paid
- 19:50so much come, you have your like basic Foundation, generally, we
- 19:54call the other vehicle versus you guys couldn't get my dresser
- 19:57because but we were low as in-depth as because I was a
- 20:01general thing that not just she has 07 is do those like
- 20:04Christian Urban schools. There was, there was suddenly
- 20:08Arabic puzzle, is it was? There is open to everyone, but
- 20:10we'd go to ones. We got specific The shy ones is
- 20:13in our skin, our madrasah, we had a lot of non coaches.
- 20:17So loads of Iraqis or understand, he's or people from
- 20:22different backgrounds and like our curriculum was rigid.
- 20:26So by five years old, you knew your soul and throw it in.
- 20:30There will probably me that 10 that was was 90% learning
- 20:34Arabic. Yeah, 10% learning religion,
- 20:37really, uh, for us is no linguistic involvement except
- 20:40English, tell us nothing. Now, you won't allow everything
- 20:44English in our classes, really, huh?
- 20:46That's nice. That's why I decide, I think
- 20:49about that a lot in terms of our children, like like Islamic
- 20:54learning as well, big Brokers, like my dress always fun at the
- 20:57same time like we used to have more Chips shop in the mosque
- 21:01and we'd have like, you know, we'd have our banter and whatnot
- 21:05with mess around his kids, having fights and kids, who are
- 21:08like playing games football in the, in the car park, and all of
- 21:11that. But the I'm time we were
- 21:13learning religion. So we have three or four
- 21:15lessons. We had a clock that ferc had
- 21:18Karana muhtadi literally. So a clock, you ethics morals,
- 21:2330, your jurisprudence, and you are calm, your rulings, study
- 21:28your history. And for on, I can we have to do
- 21:31the four lessons we had when we were now slightly change the
- 21:33curriculum and all that. But that was it.
- 21:36Do you get me? We have exams, we'd have mocks
- 21:39we'd get grades. We have parents stay with a
- 21:42whole I really Envy you guys growing up in that because when
- 21:46you sit with our Hajj or someone who grew up in madrasa, you can
- 21:50see, you can see what they've learned in a growing up.
- 21:52We didn't get that but the thing is, you guys take it.
- 21:55A lot of them. You take it for granted, what
- 21:58benefit, you have by speaking Arabic.
- 22:01I say this all the time on the podcast and away, I write
- 22:04article, you can get a gist of what I am.
- 22:11Saving Erebus. Has never taken seriously by
- 22:13anyone. I can imagine.
- 22:15Well, actually, we learn more later on using Arabic on
- 22:18WhatsApp, or on Twitter, then we do not.
- 22:21Not my heart. Yeah, reading the subs is very
- 22:24unfortunate, but you guys have got like the world, your
- 22:27fingertips, you could become classical Arabic Scholars.
- 22:29If you wanted to whitewash the way, you don't, you know, like
- 22:33for example, for non Arab speakers, we're learning a
- 22:36religion based in another language and with a different
- 22:39culture. So things that we are foreign to
- 22:41culturally Like a job, for example, a job in my culture.
- 22:46And if you look at pictures of our ancestors, I saw a picture
- 22:49recently of of our community when they visited Iraq soaking
- 22:55100 Years Ago, picture, wearing dupatta and shalwar kameez like
- 23:00arms out hair out. This that in Iraq.
- 23:03And I'm thinking, this is very different to what we're used to
- 23:06yes. Now because obviously now we
- 23:08understand the physics Behind these things but that's because
- 23:10we're totally different to our culture.
- 23:12I'm de la culture has adapted as well to her job, but that's
- 23:15because we've been taught it. Your culture said is primarily
- 23:20your culture and religion are intertwined.
- 23:21Your cannibal is always mentioned.
- 23:23Your culture is your religion or religion or culture so like why,
- 23:27you know, I don't know. I'm going to tell us that but
- 23:29like, for example, my religion is a lot.
- 23:32Yes. But like, I remember when, when
- 23:35I met someone like 75 7 years ago, there were in their 30s and
- 23:39they're very involved in the show Community.
- 23:42And there are key. I'm not gonna obviously there's
- 23:44not representative at all, and this person who's very long in
- 23:48the community, couldn't name the 12 imams of the a little bit
- 23:52sticky. So 30 to 40 years old and you're
- 23:56doing a lot of work with the community but something that we
- 23:59were forced to learn and thank Handler.
- 24:01We were forced to be taught to learn 56 years old, the 12
- 24:04imams. I had a bit 14 months, I mean,
- 24:06like in Brennan but you know, Some people want you to know,
- 24:11and I know that some, a common issue, and I just closed for the
- 24:15dean or I did, you know, this, this is a very critical because
- 24:20when you learn when you're young bro, they benefit you as you
- 24:24grow because you're never going to be in that state where you
- 24:27know, should I? Sometimes like there is like
- 24:31questions you are shy to ask about embarrassed to open up a
- 24:34subject with DVD with your own parents sometimes as if you grew
- 24:37up in such community in such and such Remnants with already know
- 24:41the answers to these nothing. That was the beauty of, you
- 24:44know, metres maybe, but maybe not as well.
- 24:46I put you off, as I remember when I was six, seven, eight
- 24:48years old, maybe a bit older like nine.
- 24:50Ten, we were learning about Olson.
- 24:52The has arrived in the muhajiroun and The Ensemble.
- 24:54I've enjoyed these things. You'd enjoy it now, say it, but
- 24:57I remember like one of the things I, I don't know what my
- 25:01problem is with muhajiroun Assad.
- 25:03I remember, I hated studying and reading about because maybe is
- 25:08the teacher who's trying really hard used for I see Teach it to
- 25:10be fair to him. I love lesson.
- 25:12But like it was just love. Like I felt like I'm studying at
- 25:15school but now looking back on it.
- 25:18Yeah, it's nice. I am delighted that these are
- 25:21words and Concepts and stories unfamiliar with and stories that
- 25:25I handle. I've known for 20 years and so
- 25:27on and so forth. You know, I mean we had to learn
- 25:29about calm of of how when you're praying.
- 25:32This is what you do and how what you don't do.
- 25:34You know, you learn about your a clock and the rules of solola
- 25:37Hammond, got a little home and all of these kind of different
- 25:39Current things. And you get them saying
- 25:42philosophy that Arguments for and against Allah, they're the
- 25:45Western arguments in The Atheist arguments versus the theological
- 25:47arguments that you find in theism and like these kind of
- 25:50things were drilled in us, institutionally from a young
- 25:54age. But some people, you know,
- 25:56there's the flip side that people could be put off.
- 25:59Yeah. So by the time they're like 15
- 26:01years old, 20 years old, to ask questions like bro.
- 26:03I know what these guys are going to say I was taught when I was
- 26:06happy enough, you know? I mean so it's important that
- 26:09that education. That but it's also done properly
- 26:12and communities are doing that. They're getting better they only
- 26:15really well. Yeah you know I enjoyed a
- 26:17remember quite a lot I wish to go to the same year.
- 26:21Otherwise we're stuck at this saying you're subject to much
- 26:23but I think the majority of our memories are grown up.
- 26:25I didn't want burgers and places like that that one was measured
- 26:28as time. I've got my dad's ball play
- 26:30Snake. Yeah, that did it.
- 26:32Every kid should stick or Nakia. Yeah.
- 26:38It was a Nokia. 3210. YouÃve on the Masonic 2003, a
- 26:42lot like a 2000. And but the thing is that it's
- 26:44like I've had the same experiences like similar
- 26:47expensive, you guys, mmm, because I grew up like my
- 26:51parents were against black. Me and my brother, having
- 26:53technology. We were lucky.
- 26:54If we last had a PlayStation, or in your mother turned out to be
- 26:56the biggest nerd alive. Yeah, yes.
- 26:59When when, when you were born They only start near 70.
- 27:04Are you serious? Like the gap between you being
- 27:17an infant? And don't know your name and
- 27:20this guy starting gear 7. It's a big time and you imagine
- 27:23obviously the difference now between you and some new
- 27:25starting at seven now. Yeah, like pretty much right?
- 27:28Or not even that more than that, you know.
- 27:31So it's Time passes fast. Yeah.
- 27:35Like I've I look at the guys on Moscow, like 27.
- 27:40No, I mean, not try something like 24.
- 27:42I'm like, yeah, they're young as I can my mind.
- 27:44I remember when they were kids and their three years younger
- 27:47than me, but it's all good now. Yeah, I remember when I was,
- 27:51like, 15 16 or 17 or 18, Roy should hear a man, like, you are
- 27:57literally in charge of the world.
- 27:59And now, when you look at that age group, you like well, the
- 28:01bracelet, Kids like Mohammed a seed.
- 28:05One of our brothers, 19 years old.
- 28:06Are they got married. Just jump on and watching it,
- 28:25you'll find out. Anyway, I remember the guy would
- 28:31be out my love lesson. Is the real chilling by the Chip
- 28:34Shop all the time with two, three brothers.
- 28:37Same guys just chilling. Like, I remember every time I
- 28:40was to walk out of my class, I see these guys through the
- 28:43windows, just having fun. And, you know, I think like, I
- 28:46used to think my, but I liaise a younger, he's from them, he's a
- 28:49kid from the mosque while Charlotte the guys, much more
- 28:53wise than I am, and I younger age, and he's doing incredibly
- 28:56well. And now he's so close in age to
- 28:58be, you know, when you're 54 and someone's 52, you don't even
- 29:01think, But when you're 13 and you think they kids, what's the
- 29:12worst? I don't think the worst memory
- 29:15was something when you were young.
- 29:17If you could have changed, you would have changed.
- 29:20Yes, my aide outfit. Do you remember getting your 8
- 29:27outfit, ready? Every morning, and then the the
- 29:29night before, and you look forward to wearing it the next
- 29:31day, you know, just what he does.
- 29:35Now, I skate new crazy idea, please.
- 29:41Everything I see. Please, right?
- 29:43Well, I don't think there's anything specific to change.
- 29:47Yeah. I need the love.
- 29:49You are who you are? Because your youth?
- 29:52Yeah, we enjoyed where we grew up.
- 29:56I feel like people who didn't grow up in the community
- 29:58environment have something missing may be so missed out on
- 30:04something that we grow Best of Both Worlds.
- 30:06You know, the spiritual, I think in the social and the social as
- 30:11you get the balance of both and I think as you grow it also feel
- 30:15like you're missing out for you guys.
- 30:16Have a lack of really not with your community.
- 30:19I say you're coming. I mean in the community, you
- 30:20guys grew up in your age group that you have a really nice
- 30:24batch of, boys mashallah, It really depends.
- 30:26The party took because some some Dave go in the wrong direction,
- 30:30the wrong direction, maybe the ones we didn't like martial law,
- 30:32like a look at the work that some of you guys are doing like
- 30:35the Charities that you work with the TV channels that have been
- 30:39set up on the back. Yeah, I did, I think it taught
- 30:42us in our professionalism, that we have today, a lot of the
- 30:45experts that we have today is probably because the community
- 30:48grew up in earlier and you said, you can learn a lot.
- 30:51Thanks. So to answer the question, are
- 30:54we getting old? Should I lie?
- 30:58We all get old. That's shiny.
- 31:00That's a reality. We can't deny every time.
- 31:04Little candle, but not all the way.
- 31:06Just stop blowing candles best. Sort of realized that, you know,
- 31:11time is going to pass so quick and I think it's best to try.
- 31:16Spend them right way. Try and you know, no age in
- 31:25terms Zuv you know how active you can be spiritually or your
- 31:28family or your community, I think.
- 31:29Even as you age and older it should continue to continue,
- 31:33you'll be boring, stop all of this.
- 31:36There's traditions of the application, a Muslim, where
- 31:39implies that I use is one who's under four years old.
- 31:45So especially in Paradise. Inshallah.
- 31:58And you know, all my hobby if I know like by hon everything, all
- 32:01of that. It's all like thanks to people
- 32:04like John Hardy so much feel like I can thank as a kid
- 32:10growing up in the outside of my home computer tengo, que me
- 32:12tengo like there who may be a Tango.
- 32:14What kind of people he was a teacher?
- 32:21He was a teacher for a large. Amount of the Shiite Community,
- 32:24but he disappeared. And I chipped a lot of times you
- 32:26go to the gym. Can U.
- 32:27See ya. You will bump into my 1000% have
- 32:31high like a flashback of that name from like my youth days,
- 32:34you just open to unlock some memory Carmel Tango.
- 32:37That's, you know, say you mentioning.
- 32:38So, Dad hardly there's a lot of things from our past which
- 32:42disappears to suggest Hari is is the guy who brought us Ali,
- 32:46father basically used to create the recitation groups and from
- 32:51that alley father became the The breadth of guidance, the light
- 32:54of guidance and your father, became the main recital for that
- 32:57and then he, he grew up to be his own thing.
- 33:00I shall not even in our community, we have moved on to
- 33:04something. I don't know.
- 33:05Yeah, in our committee. We had Yad Yad youth as a direct
- 33:09drive. Yes, we will all like the first
- 33:13batch of graduates. All the boys used to recite some
- 33:16of them now. Marshall are doing really well,
- 33:18the same, very G recital and then you had like Mahmoud Abbas
- 33:22cream. Used to come, for example, I'm
- 33:24out of the committee. Come to me, arson.
- 33:26And wanton does use common size 10, but within the community
- 33:29where the banana Brothers assembled re of course along,
- 33:31after Maghrib, Christmas and all of this proves that if you grow
- 33:36up and R2, yeah, grew up in that environment.
- 33:39Ya Shah Alam adachi, mommy damji.
- 33:40All Tha precise from our community, like graduated from
- 33:44this system and then like, young Brothers, you see.
- 33:47Now our site is useful for Kara. All of these guys.
- 33:50Like, you know, you know, a big ones is by Bye, everyone.
- 33:54And yeah, people will be shocked by a or someone oughtta.
- 33:56Yes. Yes.
- 33:57Yes. Chef Osama was reciting in
- 33:59English before anyone else and he responded the whole English
- 34:03recitation. You know, I remember shall
- 34:05summon or Thor used to recite? And then one time I saw him on
- 34:10the TV channel called, as the Heart TV lectures iRobot, was
- 34:14confused, isn't here a sec? He does not Mia and now he's
- 34:18giving lectures. That's we all love less than my
- 34:21love, honestly. Yeah.
- 34:24Good. Good, good, good memories.
- 34:26Yeah. I think we all know.
- 34:27We all had a good childhood husseini.
- 34:29Islamic everything was I'm beautiful.
- 34:32I think we should just be grateful and thankful.
- 34:34Thanks to our parents. Yeah, I was about to say, I
- 34:37think we are blessed to have the right parents.
- 34:39Yeah. We should.
- 34:40We have to be grateful and thankful to our parents.
- 34:43First of all most like for me, my grandmother, my mom, my dad,
- 34:47my all the people who like helped us, you know, not should
- 34:53us are teachers. As you know, the ones, the harsh
- 34:56ones, and the lenient ones, they will contribute something.
- 34:59You know the uncles, the Moscow tell us to go back in.
- 35:02God bless him. You get me like there's this is
- 35:04the people that were the backbone of we are who we will
- 35:08be for the rest of our lives. And sharp know I used to love
- 35:11during the Harem. I don't know what age I was
- 35:15there was a year that for I think the first time in my life
- 35:18I heard the English lecture. And it was like like even like
- 35:24the words does it was like I remember like my family will
- 35:35drop us off at that place and they got them.
- 35:40Everyone wanted to go like the English lecture.
- 35:43It was so weird so it's really loved it.
- 35:47He loved it and that's what helped I think.
- 35:49The English well, the go on and then, you know, you bring things
- 35:53up, a little, a little, a little bit TV, mmm-hmm Shambala, what
- 36:00what, what not has recited as you listened to Growing Up,
- 36:03English Arabic, anything Yes, that's what was the question.
- 36:10Sorry, they're just listened to Growing Up.
- 36:13Recite is what lovely are. Was your favorite me as a kid
- 36:18and give us ample? What would you give us?
- 36:19Ample? That was bussing. 40.
- 36:25Lights are shining. How's it going?
- 36:27How's it going? Long time ago about 10 years
- 36:41ago. That was like top-tier for me,
- 36:55how's it Go? Jenna, Jenna.
- 37:04Message an initial koala. Yeah, yeah.
- 37:09But he runs it in a very different tune, like a different
- 37:12Melody, compiler. They went crazy when I acquired
- 37:15my wife's family from the US, they used to boss up.
- 37:20My grandma called us from. Karbala the time you've got a
- 37:23recital like this and you're chasing him my my one, my missus
- 37:29moved to the UK. She's like I cannot believe
- 37:33mullah Mustafa an Ibis. Here and no one cares.
- 37:36When I say no cares in the sense that he's it's everyone knows
- 37:39he's here on the value. It's yeah, not just that I do
- 37:41appreciate it. Another chance not new news.
- 38:05Of course, every day is an historic sites, and by the way,
- 38:11if you go to as majlis on ashore on night, he recites every a
- 38:14show tonight. I love that I've had that that I
- 38:18remember like the English after that was like Ali.
- 38:21Father. I don't remember anyone else.
- 38:23To be honest, Studio has a mother.
- 38:25Father was biggest. I've only heard the mothers in
- 38:27the u.s. it wasn't hit. We don't have a life like
- 38:30Library recitations, something. I only follow was only one that
- 38:33doesn't English. Studio work.
- 38:35Yeah and you just mentioned the the tracks used to release one
- 38:41to Fathom. I can fathom.

- 38:52Will stop the balls legendary first first album part of my
- 38:54skull - farts mascara, but I think it's and everyone's heart.

- 39:08They look ya'll, come on. You've killed my brother,
- 39:30nah. Place in your heart without my
- 39:44djinni, that was the most beautiful as a kid because I
- 39:55remember he recited the Liva and holy Foundation.
- 39:58Here, is that when Boston King? So everyone heard it on studio
- 40:03and he released it Came to the Hui Foundation resided live
- 40:06Kappa. Everyone of us is reading
- 40:09everything with him then you stopped while I was like bro.
- 40:12She'll let me read it. And you know what and you know
- 40:18one day young reciter Amidala, we recited it Allah O my soul.
- 40:24Honestly that literally tore everyone apart.
- 40:27Yeah. Yeah.
- 40:29It was like a replica of busting when we were growing up.
- 40:33We had a mixed bag. Bag.
- 40:34But for me for like the first 10, 15 years of my life purely
- 40:40although and some english. And then when I attend, like 15,
- 40:42I started reading the Arabic and Farsi and then the first bar,
