- 0:34Speaker 1: has been a little bit of time since we've done

- 1:12Speaker 1: zero nine zero.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Hey.
- 1:15Speaker 1: If you want to join our Facebook group, we have one.
- 1:17Speaker 1: It's called Girls Gone Hallmark. In Facebook groups, what you
- 1:22Speaker 1: find there is just a bunch of people who watch
- 1:24Speaker 1: these movies. And if you're looking to just chat with
- 1:27Speaker 1: somebody in real time, they're there. Yeah. I mean, we
- 1:33Speaker 1: try to go in there too. I try to go there,
- 1:35Speaker 1: me too, just busy, but yes, come join us Girls
- 1:39Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark in Facebook groups. Well, we have a lot
- 1:41Speaker 1: to talk about this episode. We are going to talk
- 1:43Speaker 1: about finding Mister Christmas, Merry Christmas, Ted Cooper, Christmas Angel Match,
- 1:48Speaker 1: haul out the Halloween, even an update on a mystery
- 1:52Speaker 1: franchise we've been wondering about for a very long time.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Have you seen our crash out on Instagram Home Let's
- 2:01Speaker 1: start with my name mister Christmas. Okay, I'm curious about
- 2:05Speaker 1: the numbers for this show. I'm curious. You know. Jonathan
- 2:08Speaker 1: Bennett has been promoting it full time on Instagram and
- 2:12Speaker 1: creating incredible content. The reels are reeling over there. Please
- 2:17Speaker 1: watch the show. Please listen to our recaps. Just a
- 2:22Speaker 1: couple comments pulled from the first impression post on our Instagram.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Sydney from Mary Movie Club says Team Craig after episode one,
- 2:34Speaker 1: I feel like he crushed both challenges. So she's talking
- 2:37Speaker 1: about the festive face off and the like ski meet
- 2:41Speaker 1: Cute challenge. Yeah, Craig's great. Craig's great, They're all great. Yeah,
- 2:45Speaker 1: you need to listen to our recaps because we're having
- 2:47Speaker 1: a really hard time letting them go each week. Yeah,
- 2:51Speaker 1: and while I want to point out the obvious, sometimes
- 2:55Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, yeah, maybe so and so isn't that
- 2:57Speaker 1: great of an actor, or like whatever, Like it still
- 3:00Speaker 1: hurts my heart, Like I landed on the line, I'm invested.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Courtney on Instagram writes about finding Mister Christmas. She says,
- 3:10Speaker 1: it's so so good. Ruston, Davy, and Drake were early
- 3:14Speaker 1: favorites in our house. The choice to make the guys
- 3:17Speaker 1: ski was diabolical and hilarious. My girls and I were
- 3:21Speaker 1: howling when Drake fell. All of the guys seemed sweet,
- 3:25Speaker 1: perfect for Homewark, Rusted, Marcus, and Davy are my favorites,
- 3:29Speaker 1: but Ruston did the best job. Gabriel got lucky hot takes. Finally,
- 3:35Speaker 1: Elizabeth on Instagram says, my first impression is that it's fun.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I like the two judges commenting on the guys trying
- 3:40Speaker 1: to act and Ski very funny. Got to support Robbie
- 3:43Speaker 1: from West Springfield, Massachusetts because I'm a Boston girl.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I love that.
- 3:48Speaker 1: One of my favorite parts of the show is kind
- 3:51Speaker 1: of the commentary that Jonathan Bennett and Melissa give. Yeah,
- 3:56Speaker 1: I actually really would love to hear like concrete feedback
- 4:01Speaker 1: from them in terms of what the guys should do better. Oh,
- 4:06Speaker 1: I see acting like I want to hear like acting advice, right,
- 4:10Speaker 1: because when we see them in the eliminations, they give
- 4:12Speaker 1: like a brief the judges thought that you did X, Y,
- 4:14Speaker 1: and Z, but you could have improved. Here are they
- 4:16Speaker 1: expanding on that more? Yeah, I don't know, because I
- 4:19Speaker 1: think that could be great where they sit down and
- 4:21Speaker 1: they're like, look, this is where we didn't connect with you,
- 4:24Speaker 1: so let's work on that. Let's move on to Ted Cooper.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Merry Christmas, Ted Cooper smash hit for homemark. Yeah you said,
- 4:34Speaker 1: Sleepy Kitty Paw reported on Blue Sky that it drew
- 4:38Speaker 1: in over one million live viewers. Over one point two
- 4:41Speaker 1: million live viewers did really well. It's really hard to
- 4:45Speaker 1: compare your year over year numbers because the number of
- 4:48Speaker 1: cable viewers is dropping. But I think anything over that
- 4:51Speaker 1: million mark is still doing quite well. I'm not surprised.
- 4:55Speaker 1: This was and pre Halloween. Yeah set the bar very
- 5:00Speaker 1: I think I think so too. Beth Anne on Facebook wrote,
- 5:04Speaker 1: Merry Christmas, Ted Cooper could do no wrong for me?
- 5:07Speaker 1: Is it because I'm a bob? Buck fan who would
- 5:10Speaker 1: watch him even sit in silence and blink for eighty
- 5:13Speaker 1: four minutes. Maybe, but I can't help it. The movie
- 5:16Speaker 1: really was everything I want in a Hallmark movie. My
- 5:19Speaker 1: only critique is that when he asked her out in
- 5:22Speaker 1: asl she didn't yank him by the collar and lay
- 5:26Speaker 1: a big fat kiss on him. This will no doubt
- 5:30Speaker 1: be my number one for the year, maybe my number
- 5:32Speaker 1: one of all time. So in summary, yeah, I guess
- 5:37Speaker 1: I liked it. Okay, I wonder if there's a movie
- 5:40Speaker 1: that can knock this out of first place for us
- 5:42Speaker 1: as well for the holidays. I have a question for you.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Uh huh?
- 5:45Speaker 1: Would you like to see a Ted Cooper sequel? Oh?
- 5:49Speaker 1: What's the story there? I don't know, But I just
- 5:53Speaker 1: love Ted. I love the character of Ted Cooper so much.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Ted Cooper could be a sitcom Thursday night sitcom for me.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, right, Hallmarks for sitcom. I just freaking
- 6:08Speaker 1: loved the character so much. Yeah, I love the character.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I love his relationship with Hope. I loved a lot
- 6:13Speaker 1: of the on screen, like bring Back Brandon Penny. I'm
- 6:17Speaker 1: not a post, Lisa emailed us. I just listened to
- 6:20Speaker 1: your review of Merry Christmas, Ted Cooper. Of course, as usual,
- 6:23Speaker 1: it was dead on. Thanks Lisa. I did want to
- 6:26Speaker 1: point out that for me, I was a little miffed
- 6:28Speaker 1: with Kim's character when she got mad because he didn't
- 6:31Speaker 1: get upset. I agree with you about him advocating for himself,
- 6:34Speaker 1: but I felt like she was just looking for an out.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I also found it very interesting how she told him
- 6:38Speaker 1: that she tended to wind up with guys who were
- 6:40Speaker 1: closed off and didn't open up. Then he opened up
- 6:43Speaker 1: totally to her about his mom leaving and about how
- 6:46Speaker 1: that made him such a people pleaser. So I felt
- 6:48Speaker 1: like her getting upset about him not having a stronger
- 6:51Speaker 1: reaction to the classic misunderstanding was more about her trying
- 6:56Speaker 1: to protect herself and dump him before anything could go wrong.
- 7:01Speaker 1: This movie was such a winner on so many levels.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Just like you said, Robert Buckley, not Junior is the
- 7:06Speaker 1: total package. And I love how sometimes when he smiles,
- 7:09Speaker 1: his smiles crooked and other times it's not. My husband
- 7:12Speaker 1: and I both think he looks like Scott Speedman. Oh
- 7:14Speaker 1: he does. I'd love to see those two play brothers
- 7:17Speaker 1: in the Hallmark movie. I also love how you guys
- 7:19Speaker 1: always talk about the writing and directing. I've never paid
- 7:21Speaker 1: attention to that, and it's good information to have. There's
- 7:24Speaker 1: a lot to unpack here, If I may please, I'm
- 7:27Speaker 1: going to start backwards. Thank you for noticing the amount
- 7:31Speaker 1: of work that we put into it to talk about
- 7:33Speaker 1: the writers and directors of these movies. And I think
- 7:36Speaker 1: if going in five years ago when we were doing this,
- 7:40Speaker 1: we were not covering that stuff. No, but what I
- 7:43Speaker 1: have come to love from so many of these movies,
- 7:45Speaker 1: I go, oh, this is a Russell Hanlan movie. I'm in.
- 7:48Speaker 1: You know, like you start to know, like who directed it,
- 7:50Speaker 1: who wrote it, Like those start to become your favorites,
- 7:53Speaker 1: almost as much as the actors who are portraying the characters.
- 7:56Speaker 1: So I'm so glad you like that information. The second
- 7:59Speaker 1: thing is I think Scott Speedman is busy on Gray's Anatomy?
- 8:01Speaker 2: Is you not?
- 8:03Speaker 1: Oh? Good question. I don't know Scott's Speaman was in Felicity?
- 8:07Speaker 1: Is he on Gray's Anatomy? I thought it wasn't Grays
- 8:09Speaker 1: that quite possibly I could be wrong, but I love
- 8:12Speaker 1: me as Scott's Speedman. I would love Scott Spearman. I
- 8:16Speaker 1: weren't you team Ben? Oh? Yeah, I was team Ben definitely,
- 8:20Speaker 1: but it was a pulsh and pull because I like
- 8:22Speaker 1: Noel too.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Sure.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I just watched that show Felicity last summer. I like
- 8:27Speaker 1: rewatched all four seasons of it. I didn't love it
- 8:29Speaker 1: as much as I loved it when I was in
- 8:31Speaker 1: my early twenties, but it's still really good.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Me.
- 8:34Speaker 1: It's because you have a TV watching brain made for
- 8:36Speaker 1: streaming these days, I think. Correct. Yes, that show was
- 8:40Speaker 1: not bingeable by any means, by any means. Okay, now
- 8:45Speaker 1: let's talk about Kim's character Hope. I too found Hope
- 8:50Speaker 1: a little unlikable in this scene, Yes, and I struggled
- 8:54Speaker 1: with that, Like it has sat with me since I've
- 8:57Speaker 1: watched this movie. And people have emotional baggage, right, And
- 9:02Speaker 1: I think it's interesting here Lisa's comment about because I
- 9:06Speaker 1: didn't really put this together, but Hope's history with dating
- 9:12Speaker 1: men who are closed off is very interesting. Like, so
- 9:16Speaker 1: she was bringing a lot of her stuff exactly to
- 9:21Speaker 1: the conversation here. They were just a little bit of
- 9:24Speaker 1: a miss, but she really tried to like villainize Ted
- 9:29Speaker 1: in this moment. I thought like Ted was the wrong guy,
- 9:32Speaker 1: or not the wrong guy, but Ted was wrong in
- 9:34Speaker 1: the situation. Yeah, equal in my mind, now, yeah it was.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Do you think she's coming that at that from a
- 9:41Speaker 1: place of like, I've been disappointed by guys. I can't
- 9:44Speaker 1: fully trust that you really are this way. Perhaps, Yeah,
- 9:49Speaker 1: but I would appreciate it when Sidney just laid it
- 9:51Speaker 1: out for her. She's like, oh no, a good looking
- 9:53Speaker 1: guy who's happy all the time. Yeah, what is wrong
- 9:56Speaker 1: with you? You're complaining about nothing? Yeah, Yeah, I'm really interested.
- 10:01Speaker 1: I would love to chat with Russell about this, like
- 10:04Speaker 1: this particular scene, like when he wrote it, like how
- 10:08Speaker 1: he got there, what was because you know, sometimes when
- 10:12Speaker 1: you're storytelling, it doesn't always Yeah, and other other pieces
- 10:16Speaker 1: we didn't get to see. Yeah, exactly. Still a great movie.
- 10:20Speaker 1: A great movie. A quick little note from Lisa regarding
- 10:23Speaker 1: podcast ads, which I thought was funny. We've talked about
- 10:26Speaker 1: this on social media, we haven't really talked about it here.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Something worth noting. When you hear ads on our podcast,
- 10:32Speaker 1: they're different for everybody. They're location based for the most part,
- 10:36Speaker 1: and so Wendy and I don't hear the same ads.
- 10:38Speaker 1: You're not going to I'm not gonna hear the same
- 10:40Speaker 1: ads as someone in another state or even another city. Really,
- 10:44Speaker 1: Lisa emailed in the past, I've heard you mentioned on
- 10:47Speaker 1: the podcast that ads will be tailored to you location. Well,
- 10:50Speaker 1: this is hilarious. I travel almost every week for my job.
- 10:53Speaker 1: This week, I'm in the middle of nowhere, Georgia. Imagine
- 10:56Speaker 1: my confusion when I started hearing ads on your podcast
- 10:58Speaker 1: from Ireland. I was like, huh, Well, then I remember
- 11:02Speaker 1: that I'm not far from a town in Georgia called Dublin.
- 11:04Speaker 1: So somehow your podcast thinks I'm in Dublin, Ireland. I'm
- 11:07Speaker 1: getting to listen to exotic Irish commercials while in the
- 11:10Speaker 1: middle of nowhere Georgia. I love it. Small correction, it's
- 11:15Speaker 1: not our podcast, thanks, it's the advertising company that buy
- 11:18Speaker 1: space on the podcast thinks that you're in Dublin, Ireland. Yes,
- 11:22Speaker 1: I have. We have zero control control over it. Also,
- 11:26Speaker 1: just as an aside, if you ever hear an ad
- 11:27Speaker 1: that you feel like is super out of character with
- 11:29Speaker 1: who you know us to be, please email us because
- 11:32Speaker 1: we work really hard to make sure that that does
- 11:34Speaker 1: not reoccur. Yes, let's take a quick break and we're
- 11:37Speaker 1: going to come back to talk Christmas Angel Match. We're
- 11:48Speaker 1: back with the email from Lisa regarding the movie Christmas
- 11:52Speaker 1: Angel Match from opening weekend. She says, I have to say,
- 11:56Speaker 1: you guys brought me down a little, pointing out all
- 11:58Speaker 1: of the unanswered ques, questions. None of those things even
- 12:02Speaker 1: occurred to Melol. I thought it was absolutely awesome. I
- 12:06Speaker 1: was sad to see that so many gave up on
- 12:08Speaker 1: it so quickly. She's talking about people gave up on
- 12:10Speaker 1: the movie quickly, right. I was thoroughly entertained. I also
- 12:14Speaker 1: loved how it made me think about what I might
- 12:17Speaker 1: be missing out on when I'm on my phone. I'm
- 12:19Speaker 1: happily married, so not love ha ha ha. I love
- 12:24Speaker 1: this movie. I did, and I am disappointed to see
- 12:27Speaker 1: people be like, oh, it didn't catch me or didn't
- 12:29Speaker 1: grab me and I turned it off, Like I do,
- 12:32Speaker 1: think there was a worthwhile message in this movie, especially
- 12:36Speaker 1: when it comes to like we live in a world
- 12:39Speaker 1: that's distracted and fast paced and we're missing moments around us.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I thought that was a beautiful message. Yeah, Like do
- 12:47Speaker 1: you did we we talked about irony in this review?
- 12:50Speaker 1: Did we talk about the irony of not giving this
- 12:52Speaker 1: movie a full chance because you weren't grabbed at the beginning. Look,
- 12:57Speaker 1: I'm all for you know, a band of the movie,
- 12:59Speaker 1: a band in the book. If it's not for you.
- 13:01Speaker 1: I was surprised by some of the feedback about this
- 13:03Speaker 1: movie because we overall really enjoyed it. We did enjoy it. Also,
- 13:08Speaker 1: this isn't in our notes, but did you catch Benjamin
- 13:12Speaker 1: Ayres posted the other day about the romance University merch
- 13:17Speaker 1: in the background of the scene, And we had did
- 13:21Speaker 1: the same thing like a couple of days prior to that.
- 13:24Speaker 1: You know, I think that's fun. He gave us a
- 13:28Speaker 1: little like a little wink at a nod and sums
- 13:31Speaker 1: about it. But yeah, that's what I love about this
- 13:34Speaker 1: podcast is doing the did you see that? And like
- 13:36Speaker 1: finding these things and it feels almost like it was
- 13:39Speaker 1: planted there for us to fight. Oh for sure, no
- 13:42Speaker 1: one dred percent. That was definitely for the alumni. Yeah
- 13:46Speaker 1: for sure. Linda, in regards to Christmas Angel Match, sends
- 13:49Speaker 1: an email that says, Hi, I enjoyed this story, especially
- 13:52Speaker 1: that the Angels matched the elderly couple as a byproduct
- 13:55Speaker 1: of trying to match the young ones. We didn't really
- 13:58Speaker 1: talk about that a lot in the episode. We didn't.
- 14:01Speaker 1: I loved the angel costumes, especially the Christmas ones on Earth.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Agree the costume game was strong. However, I thought the
- 14:08Speaker 1: ending was weird. When a couple stop at chaste kisses
- 14:11Speaker 1: seems very strange for angelic behavior. I think a better
- 14:14Speaker 1: ending would have been for Gabriel to grant them a
- 14:16Speaker 1: life as people on Earth until they died, and then
- 14:18Speaker 1: then could return to Heaven as angels. I have to
- 14:22Speaker 1: admit I didn't fully understand the ending. I don't know
- 14:25Speaker 1: what's happening there. Do you like this scenario that Linda
- 14:29Speaker 1: has present. Sure that Gabriel says, now, you guys get
- 14:32Speaker 1: to live in real time on Earth. You get to
- 14:35Speaker 1: experience love and snowball fights. Yeah, all those things that
- 14:40Speaker 1: the Meganori character. But she was like, I've never had
- 14:43Speaker 1: hot Coco. She doesn't partake in the human worldly things, right, Sure,
- 14:49Speaker 1: so that would have been cool to connect that in
- 14:52Speaker 1: that way. And I also wonder if that's the conclusion
- 14:55Speaker 1: we were supposed to have drawn. Perhaps when Gabriel does
- 14:58Speaker 1: his magic and all of a sudden they're in new clothing, Yeah,
- 15:02Speaker 1: maybe are we and he disappears. Sometimes we need get
- 15:06Speaker 1: spelled out for us. I think it was unclear to
- 15:10Speaker 1: a lot of people. Okay. We got a message regarding
- 15:13Speaker 1: haul Out the Halloween from Heather who says, Hi, girls,
- 15:17Speaker 1: I have some hopefully good news. I went to the
- 15:20Speaker 1: Hallmark event in Nashville last week and talked to Wes
- 15:22Speaker 1: about the ending of haul Out the Halloween and the
- 15:25Speaker 1: possibility for a fourth He said it is being written,
- 15:28Speaker 1: but he's not sure it will be picked up yet.
- 15:30Speaker 1: He said they would travel all the way to Norway
- 15:32Speaker 1: and there would be a baby. I have a couple
- 15:36Speaker 1: of thoughts. I do wonder if McLean Nelson is writing
- 15:39Speaker 1: a fourth movie. I don't know how. We talked about
- 15:42Speaker 1: this in our review that the extended cast in this
- 15:47Speaker 1: movie is what partly makes it so great one hundred percent.
- 15:52Speaker 1: I refuse to believe there's a world in which there's
- 15:54Speaker 1: a fourth movie in which the extended cast isn't involved,
- 15:59Speaker 1: even an off of Evergreen Lane, which makes me nervous. Yeah, look,
- 16:04Speaker 1: I would absolutely watch it. I was head over heels
- 16:07Speaker 1: for The Halloween. It was my favorite of the three. Same.
- 16:10Speaker 1: We have a voicemail from Era regarding the Chicken Sisters.
- 16:16Speaker 1: It's still October, y'all. I know some people are peeris
- 16:19Speaker 1: and they will not go in on Christmas movies until
- 16:22Speaker 1: after Halloween.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Hi'm Megan and Wendy. This is Eera. I am leaving
- 16:27Speaker 2: a fallow up voicemail about Chicken Sisters. And I know
- 16:31Speaker 2: I said I was really loving it a couple of
- 16:33Speaker 2: weeks ago, and I'm a little bit behind. I just
- 16:36Speaker 2: finished the last two episodes and I just have to
- 16:39Speaker 2: say what a big disappointment. And my big disappointment is
- 16:44Speaker 2: in Frank Junior. I am so sad to see he
- 16:48Speaker 2: had a redemption arc. I wanted him to go full villain.
- 16:52Speaker 2: I wanted him to feel that chicken recipe and just
- 16:57Speaker 2: go hog wild and get to court to get sued
- 17:01Speaker 2: or I don't know something. I'm just so disappointed to
- 17:04Speaker 2: see him have a change of heart. I wanted to
- 17:07Speaker 2: see him turn to the dark side. I still enjoyed
- 17:11Speaker 2: this season overall, but I just thought the last two
- 17:13Speaker 2: episodes were super an psychomactic and just kind of boring.
- 17:19Speaker 2: All right, girls, well, looking forward to another mailback episode.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Have a great day.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Bye. I know you have a lot to say, suok,
- 17:27Speaker 1: because I have listened to your reviews and I think
- 17:31Speaker 1: you thought this season ended strong. Yes, the final two
- 17:37Speaker 1: episodes were great in my opinion. We did do a
- 17:40Speaker 1: wrap up episode after the season with Aaron Shay and
- 17:44Speaker 1: she came back. She had joined us on a recap
- 17:47Speaker 1: earlier in the season, and she came back to wrap
- 17:49Speaker 1: up the season, and she and I talked about our
- 17:51Speaker 1: thoughts on the season overall, and really we were on
- 17:54Speaker 1: the same page. So let's talk about the Frank Junior
- 17:56Speaker 1: of it all. All season long, I said, over and
- 17:58Speaker 1: over and over again, don't want a redemption art, don't
- 18:01Speaker 1: try and make me like him, right, And then they
- 18:04Speaker 1: did it in a way where I found it believable.
- 18:08Speaker 1: He took accountability. And I think it makes sense for
- 18:12Speaker 1: these people to live in a place where they can
- 18:15Speaker 1: be cordial with each other, where they can live and
- 18:17Speaker 1: work and they have a family, and that's a better solution.
- 18:21Speaker 1: But I like Era's point of view of well, now
- 18:24Speaker 1: who's the villain going to be? Yeah, you need a villain, right,
- 18:26Speaker 1: We do need a villain, And you know, I think
- 18:28Speaker 1: we're pointing, you know, Lachlan Monroe. If season three happens,
- 18:32Speaker 1: maybe our villain in the form of our mayor. And
- 18:35Speaker 1: I really did find the last I mean, the penultimate
- 18:39Speaker 1: episode was a tornado right, that was very exciting, But
- 18:42Speaker 1: it's not the Tornado. It was that Nancy pulls herself
- 18:47Speaker 1: up from the bootstraps and steps into this like Superwoman
- 18:52Speaker 1: exactly right. Yeah, yeah, and she's all over town saving everybody. Yeah,
- 18:57Speaker 1: like she comes Look, guys, I didn't even watch it.
- 18:59Speaker 1: She comes in because if I recall season one, Nancy
- 19:03Speaker 1: drove me crazy because Nancy just let these men walk
- 19:06Speaker 1: all over her and then finally she has her own
- 19:09Speaker 1: redemption art. Yeah, that's what we got in the last
- 19:13Speaker 1: two episodes of season two. Correct, absolutely, I mean Nancy,
- 19:16Speaker 1: this whole season is about Nancy finding her own voice
- 19:19Speaker 1: and then steps into that in the end. And then
- 19:21Speaker 1: I thought, I really, you know, the final episode, we
- 19:24Speaker 1: get the wedding, which I thought was beautifully done. We
- 19:28Speaker 1: get some closure on the destruction of Memi's There's there's
- 19:33Speaker 1: a lot there. So I'm I'm sorry that you didn't
- 19:37Speaker 1: like the end era that that makes me a little
- 19:39Speaker 1: bit sad. I hate it when a series doesn't land
- 19:43Speaker 1: for me. So for sure. Now I'm trying to remember
- 19:46Speaker 1: we had a recent conversation with somebody, had they confirmed
- 19:50Speaker 1: or denied if the Chicken Sisters was coming back yet?
- 19:54Speaker 1: Was it still undecided. We hadn't have Yeah, there's no
- 19:56Speaker 1: official word as of the recording of this episode having
- 19:59Speaker 1: her anything. I you know, what do you think they're
- 20:03Speaker 1: gonna do? I really don't know. I feel like I
- 20:05Speaker 1: just am surprised every day by decisions that are made
- 20:09Speaker 1: behind the scenes on projects that are beloved by the fans.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Let's talk about that. We had like a full blown
- 20:15Speaker 1: crash out this week on multiple platforms on starting with
- 20:21Speaker 1: in the News and Notes of Merry Christmas, Ted Cooper,
- 20:24Speaker 1: we were talking about Megan heffern who was in the
- 20:27Speaker 1: Cases of Mystery Lane, right, and I casually dropped, Oh,
- 20:30Speaker 1: I heard that had been canceled. I I'm still hurt
- 20:35Speaker 1: about it too. Do you understand now, like imagine you're
- 20:39Speaker 1: a Mystery one O one or I can sort of
- 20:42Speaker 1: get it. Mystery one oh one was like seven movies
- 20:45Speaker 1: and you fall in love with these characters. They had
- 20:47Speaker 1: a little time to like really like grow on you. Yeah,
- 20:53Speaker 1: the Cases of Mystery Lane was just good entertainment. Yeah,
- 21:00Speaker 1: and yes, I liked the characters, but I want to
- 21:02Speaker 1: play in that world some more. For me, I thought,
- 21:07Speaker 1: this is so fun. It's still homemark. It's a little unhinged. Yeah,
- 21:14Speaker 1: it's the funniest of the mystery series, and I think
- 21:17Speaker 1: maybe that might be the problem. It's Homewark is like, oh,
- 21:20Speaker 1: mysteries can't be funny. I don't know. Maybe that's not
- 21:23Speaker 1: what they're thinking. Maybe they're like, it's not a great
- 21:26Speaker 1: return and investment. You know. I don't know, but as
- 21:29Speaker 1: a fan, I'm telling you, Homewark, this is a bad move. Well,
- 21:35Speaker 1: what was funny was where I had seen it was
- 21:39Speaker 1: a comment on a post that was over a month old.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Like I went back to dig and I was like, oh,
- 21:43Speaker 1: this is an old post. It was from summertime. It
- 21:46Speaker 1: was from September. Okay, granted we had a lot of
- 21:49Speaker 1: stuff going on. Yes, did you hear Travis and Taylor
- 21:52Speaker 1: got engaged like breaking news. You posted a promo for
- 21:56Speaker 1: the Ted Cooper episode and you were like, uh, just
- 21:59Speaker 1: learn the case mister Lane had been canceled. And then
- 22:01Speaker 1: people came into the dms like what one that I
- 22:04Speaker 1: read that made me laugh out loud. She was like
- 22:06Speaker 1: this is my favorite we ride at don Yes, And
- 22:08Speaker 1: I was like, yes, yes, yes. Well then I felt
- 22:11Speaker 1: better because I was like, Okay, when I looked back
- 22:13Speaker 1: at this post where I had originally seen this comment
- 22:15Speaker 1: from Paul Campbell saying We've been canceled. I was like, oh,
- 22:17Speaker 1: this was from September. Everyone must know this, Like you said,
- 22:20Speaker 1: sometimes we missed stuff. We missed it. Well, then I
- 22:23Speaker 1: realized we weren't the only ones. So then I make
- 22:25Speaker 1: this video that's like, yo, Cases, mister Lane is canceled.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Confirmed what is happening? And we heard from a ton
- 22:33Speaker 1: of people involved with the show, a lot of fans
- 22:36Speaker 1: of the show expressing shock and dismay. Someone sent us
- 22:40Speaker 1: a video from May of Matt Hamilton discussing the cancelation.
- 22:45Speaker 1: They said, did you see this? And I said, in fact,
- 22:46Speaker 1: we did not. Fortunately, they hadn't seen it either. They
- 22:48Speaker 1: did a deep dive after our post. Amy Garcia commented
- 22:52Speaker 1: on our reel, thank you for this post. I had
- 22:54Speaker 1: such a blast working with Paul Campbell and I'll miss
- 22:56Speaker 1: Alden and Bertie Shenanigans. This is what my mind. We
- 23:00Speaker 1: were in Kansas City last year. Amy Garcia was there.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Amy Garcia does a lot of workoutside of the network,
- 23:07Speaker 1: but I believe the only work she's done for Hallmark
- 23:10Speaker 1: is Cases, and she was front and center at Kansas
- 23:13Speaker 1: City Center in Kansas City, and then like poof what
- 23:17Speaker 1: I know? I know? And she was so lovely. I
- 23:20Speaker 1: remember some of the things she said. She fully embodied
- 23:23Speaker 1: what Hallmark was about with her comments. This is a loss.
- 23:27Speaker 1: I'm hurt by it. It's a miss to not have
- 23:30Speaker 1: given this franchise more room to groove. Did you just
- 23:34Speaker 1: have a flash of Paul Campbell with his shirt unbuttoned
- 23:38Speaker 1: down to his belly button doing the groove when he's
- 23:41Speaker 1: doing the dance. It's my favorite scene from the second
- 23:44Speaker 1: movie where he's like salsaing or whatever. It's so freaking hilarious.
- 23:50Speaker 1: I just don't understand. Part of me feels like the
- 23:54Speaker 1: mystery one on one community like mad about it and
- 23:57Speaker 1: like calling for a reboot for it, and I'm like,
- 24:00Speaker 1: it's not gonna work. And then the other part of
- 24:02Speaker 1: me is like, we need to knock on some doors
- 24:05Speaker 1: in Kansas City with pitchforks and fire and be like
- 24:10Speaker 1: we ride at Don right at Don Huh. Let's be
- 24:14Speaker 1: change makers. I think we need to get in Hallmark's
- 24:17Speaker 1: ear that this show needs to come back, this movie
- 24:19Speaker 1: series needs to come back. Let's be change makers. Here's
- 24:21Speaker 1: the other thing I know there's a lot of uncertainty
- 24:25Speaker 1: in terms of like mysteries, right, yeah, the Mystery Channel
- 24:29Speaker 1: and some of the franchises, like we haven't heard from
- 24:31Speaker 1: Curious Cater all year long.
- 24:34Speaker 2: I know.
- 24:35Speaker 1: But then you have some other franchises that are still
- 24:39Speaker 1: continuing to make movies, and I'm like, well, maybe we
- 24:42Speaker 1: sunset some of those those are spicy, hot takes. I
- 24:48Speaker 1: didn't name name. I know, I know, I know your
- 24:51Speaker 1: own conclusions, but this was so special. I guess it was.
- 24:57Speaker 1: This movie so special. Matt Hammon, It's funny, Paul Campbell's funny.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Amy Garcia was great in it. Megan heffern was in it.
- 25:06Speaker 1: I'm mad, me too, Me too, me too. We received
- 25:10Speaker 1: a review of our podcast that is a mailbag adjacent
- 25:15Speaker 1: and I'd like to read it. Okay. It's from Beth
- 25:18Speaker 1: who says, just listen to your reviews of Under the
- 25:21Speaker 1: Autumn Moon and All of My Heart. Wendy nailed the
- 25:24Speaker 1: first one. I'm with her all the way, though I'd
- 25:26Speaker 1: have given it two stars. Under the automn Moon is
- 25:29Speaker 1: all the Jesse shram with the guy who was such
- 25:32Speaker 1: a jerk to her character. Yeah, she says, I avoid
- 25:36Speaker 1: that movie whenever it's on and in your spare time,
- 25:39Speaker 1: you should watch the first All of My Heart. It's
- 25:41Speaker 1: so much better and no need to apologize for whining.
- 25:45Speaker 1: It made me laugh out loud on my walk today.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Keep up the fabulous work. All of My Heart was
- 25:50Speaker 1: the Brennan Elliott Lacy Shiver sequel that we watched. We
- 25:54Speaker 1: should watch the first one. Correct, Okay, I'm gonna put
- 25:57Speaker 1: it on my to do list next ball. No, I don't.
- 26:02Speaker 1: I mean there are downtime of course, of course, you know,
- 26:05Speaker 1: and there's always some time in the year where we
- 26:08Speaker 1: try to fill the schedule with fan favorite reviews. Yeah,
- 26:11Speaker 1: we're gonna have to go back, I think and tackle
- 26:13Speaker 1: that one. I just had a thought. Is Niale major
- 26:17Speaker 1: in a Christmas movie this year? Yes, yes, he is.
- 26:24Speaker 1: I think I'm almost positive he is. With autumn research
- 26:28Speaker 1: and we met in December. Oh yeah, I'm looking forward
- 26:31Speaker 1: to that movie. That's right, it's hard to remember, like
- 26:34Speaker 1: at the stage of the game. Sure, I know. I
- 26:36Speaker 1: want to bring up just a quick topic that you
- 26:39Speaker 1: and I texted about a little bit yesterday, and this
- 26:42Speaker 1: is super not mail bag, but have you noticed a
- 26:48Speaker 1: trend in the new Christmas movies of some fresher faces.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Well you said that, do you mean supporting characters, supporting
- 26:58Speaker 1: characters who have me down the line become lead characters.
- 27:04Speaker 1: I think the Angel movie, The Angel Movie is a
- 27:07Speaker 1: good one we had. I don't have the names of
- 27:10Speaker 1: the actors in front of me right now, but the
- 27:12Speaker 1: gal that played an angel too, who was real cute.
- 27:16Speaker 1: I know who you're talking about, her blonde angel friend. Yeah, yeah,
- 27:19Speaker 1: I could see her coming up the ring. Sure. This
- 27:22Speaker 1: weekend's movie Christmas on Duty, we have Janelle Parrish who
- 27:28Speaker 1: was like a staple, we have like the solid Hallmark Yes.
- 27:33Speaker 1: And then opposite of her, we have this guy named
- 27:38Speaker 1: Parker Young. Yeah, Hallmark debut, but he's he's worked on
- 27:43Speaker 1: a lot of other things, Nine to one, one, Lone Star,
- 27:45Speaker 1: a million little things, imposts. So, but first on Hallmark
- 27:50Speaker 1: any lead role, Yeah, same thing right with the Bill's
- 27:54Speaker 1: movie The Male co Star, Yes, is a Hallmark debut exactly.
- 28:00Speaker 1: And so if we rewind it back to last the
- 28:06Speaker 1: end of last year, at the very beginning of this year,
- 28:09Speaker 1: there's a lot of turmoil at Hallmark about people in charge,
- 28:13Speaker 1: and there was a lot of commentary about ages of
- 28:15Speaker 1: actors and yeah, casting and so on and so forth,
- 28:19Speaker 1: and so I wonder are they moving towards finding fresher
- 28:26Speaker 1: faces for Hallmark? Yeah? Is this a reaction to that? Yeah,
- 28:29Speaker 1: I wonder. I don't know how close of attention I've
- 28:32Speaker 1: paid to the level of fresh face as we get
- 28:34Speaker 1: in our movies, but there's definitely people who are missing.
- 28:39Speaker 1: There's definitely people missing, and so that's hard. I like
- 28:42Speaker 1: when we get new people who I'm excited about, but
- 28:46Speaker 1: I also get really invested in my face totally, which
- 28:49Speaker 1: is one of the things I think Hallmark does best.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Don't you think there's room for both? Sure? Yes, yes, yes,
- 28:56Speaker 1: But then I get protective of my old guys. I'm like, well,
- 28:58Speaker 1: I don't want I don't want my faves to get bumped. Yeah,
- 29:02Speaker 1: I mean neither, especially as someone who is not a
- 29:04Speaker 1: fresh face myself. You're gonna replace me fresher podcast takes.
- 29:11Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think the gen zers are coming
- 29:12Speaker 1: for this job quite yet. I don't know. I see
- 29:14Speaker 1: instagrammers who have better followers than us talking about the
- 29:18Speaker 1: same content, so follow us on Instagram. We are Girls
- 29:22Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark and thank you for listening to this episode
- 29:24Speaker 1: of Girls Gone Hallmark a Bramble Jam Podcast. We'll be
