- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, that's it. I've been scorched by Krusty before.
- 0:04Speaker 1: I got a rabbit harpee from those Crusty brand vitamins.
- 0:07Speaker 1: My Krusty calculator didn't have a seven or eight, and
- 0:09Speaker 1: Krusty's autobiography was self serving with many glaring omissions. But
- 0:13Speaker 1: this time he's gone too far way.
- 0:16Speaker 2: What Krusty way, Why Krusty way?
- 0:19Speaker 3: Why Krusty You said you broke their spirits?
- 0:26Speaker 2: We did, you broke cussing. Let's get them to the
- 0:31Speaker 2: head of it.
- 0:41Speaker 4: It is the Guy on Springfield throw Back classic review.
- 0:44Speaker 4: He had gone all the way back to season four.
- 0:45Speaker 4: It's the premiere of season four of The Simpsons. It
- 0:48Speaker 4: is Camp Krusty.
- 0:49Speaker 3: I am Dano and I am Guy, and yes, welcome
- 0:51Speaker 3: to an episode that promises to be self serving with
- 0:54Speaker 3: many glaring emissions.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Always glaring emissions.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Yeah, you have a Camp Krusty.
- 0:59Speaker 4: God, we stepped back in time, didn't we We did, indeed,
- 1:01Speaker 4: but for a good reason. So the patrons voted for
- 1:03Speaker 4: this one. As we mentioned on last week's show, the
- 1:06Speaker 4: patrons decide each month which Guy on Springfield we do.
- 1:09Speaker 4: We go back and review a classic episode from the
- 1:11Speaker 4: first ten seasons, it's an episode usually that guy has
- 1:14Speaker 4: not visited before. Because which was the co host in
- 1:16Speaker 4: the first ten seasons of the show, you join on
- 1:18Speaker 4: in season eleven, So go back and review the classic
- 1:20Speaker 4: because everyone likes hearing us talk about the classics, and
- 1:22Speaker 4: this one is an absolute classic. It is either this
- 1:24Speaker 4: one or when you Dish upon a Star. We had
- 1:26Speaker 4: a summer theme and they went with Camp Krusty and
- 1:29Speaker 4: I had a good time. Not as funny as I
- 1:31Speaker 4: remembered it, but still I think the story for me
- 1:33Speaker 4: behind Camp Rusty is more interested in the actual episode
- 1:35Speaker 4: in some ways now, just being the reviewer, the nerd,
- 1:39Speaker 4: the pop culture nerd, I love the soak up. Like
- 1:41Speaker 4: like Number five would say in Short Circuit.
- 1:43Speaker 3: More input, more input.
- 1:45Speaker 4: That's quite guess thrown around the house a lot at
- 1:48Speaker 4: the moment because the kids just watch Short Circuit for
- 1:49Speaker 4: the first.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Time and they loved it, okay, and now they want more.
- 1:52Speaker 4: So Elliott gets a book.
- 1:53Speaker 3: And he's like, more inputs, kids, adorable.
- 1:58Speaker 4: But so this one here, there's a really interesting story
- 2:01Speaker 4: behind Camp Krusty, which we will delve into. Quite pivotal.
- 2:05Speaker 4: If it had gone it could have gone one or
- 2:07Speaker 4: two ways they went this way. Had they gone the
- 2:09Speaker 4: other way, we may have got one of the most
- 2:11Speaker 4: iconic Simpsons moments of all time. I'll just say here
- 2:15Speaker 4: it's the movie. This was originally pitched by James L.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Brooks to be the first Simpsons movie Oka, so he
- 2:21Speaker 4: read the script they put together because they the idea
- 2:24Speaker 4: of it, wouldn't it be funny if the kids go
- 2:25Speaker 4: to sumer camp, because if they could talk about all
- 2:27Speaker 4: their experiences and going to summer camp and what all
- 2:29Speaker 4: The writers James L. Brooks read the script and went, hey, guys,
- 2:33Speaker 4: this should be the first movie. And there was pushback,
- 2:36Speaker 4: which we will delve into a little bit later. But
- 2:38Speaker 4: I wish that movie happened, you know, and I'll explain
- 2:41Speaker 4: why in just a few moments. But this one here,
- 2:43Speaker 4: camp Krusty a lot to talk about.
- 2:45Speaker 3: You know.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Yeah, we can talk about our experiences going to camp
- 2:48Speaker 4: and whatnot. But before we do all that, how you
- 2:51Speaker 4: mean not.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Doing too bad? Actually, having said that, I mean you
- 2:55Speaker 3: talked about we were doing a poll with episodes with
- 2:58Speaker 3: a summer theme. That feels like it is rubbing salt
- 3:00Speaker 3: in the wounds because right here in sunny downtown Geelong
- 3:04Speaker 3: it is just not sunny. It's free, we.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Would say, freezing our balls off.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Indeed, to quote Kurt Russell in the thing first goddamn
- 3:12Speaker 3: Weeker winner, And yeah, it feels like it. So it
- 3:15Speaker 3: was actually good to get a bit of a little
- 3:17Speaker 3: bit of a getaway to sunny Springfield. And even if
- 3:20Speaker 3: Cam Krusty turned out to be a fairly sort of
- 3:22Speaker 3: desolate and brutal location, was still nice to get some sunshine.
- 3:26Speaker 4: Plus we've got mister Black.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Plus we got mister Black bursting with personality that.
- 3:32Speaker 4: I can always guarantee what your favorite moment is going
- 3:35Speaker 4: to be. Is it, Gentlemen to evil? Gentleman to evil?
- 3:41Speaker 3: It's in there now, although you're being far too formal.
- 3:44Speaker 3: I mean, I just call that guy uncle Blackie.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Is that not one of the most That's one of
- 3:51Speaker 4: the funniest scenes, not of all timer, but like I
- 3:54Speaker 4: just love that because it's so short and sharp, that scene,
- 3:56Speaker 4: it's just coming to within five seconds. It's but another
- 3:59Speaker 4: brand he mister Black. Gentlemen, do we.
- 4:02Speaker 3: A lot of great one liners in this episode? Yeah? Yeah,
- 4:05Speaker 3: some that are absolutely meme worthy. I mean, whether that
- 4:07Speaker 3: has been actually turned into memes, I'm not sure. But
- 4:11Speaker 3: certainly you know, Martin Princess sticking his head into that
- 4:14Speaker 3: pot because oh, sweet nourishing gruel, which is often said
- 4:17Speaker 3: at my house at dinner time.
- 4:18Speaker 4: It's everybody to me at the matrix. That scene, Actually,
- 4:21Speaker 4: that's all I eat is just cruel.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Oh that's true. Yeah, they're eating that. Well, that's the thing.
- 4:24Speaker 3: I mean, you hear about gruel all the time. What
- 4:27Speaker 3: is cruel? It's basically porridge, but just like shitty porridge
- 4:31Speaker 3: imitation gruel. Yeah, the lovely yes of sun Felix. The
- 4:35Speaker 3: other night, it's kind of like we got oats in
- 4:37Speaker 3: the house. I'm like, not that I'm aware. Really, I
- 4:42Speaker 3: think for oats, like.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Oats right now, I have oats of yogurt every Morning's well,
- 4:46Speaker 4: good for you.
- 4:47Speaker 3: I mean, okay, I thought that was the story, was
- 4:50Speaker 3: a bit of an outline, but no, apparently, but he
- 4:53Speaker 3: never really sort of declared much of a preference a
- 4:57Speaker 3: ornay for oats before. But all but sometimes you just
- 5:00Speaker 3: get that thought in your head, You got that itch,
- 5:02Speaker 3: you can't scratch it. You know what would be great
- 5:04Speaker 3: right now? Porridge? Good porridge, particularly on a cold morning
- 5:07Speaker 3: like we're experiencing here.
- 5:09Speaker 4: What I do is I get the fat free yogurt.
- 5:10Speaker 4: I'll put that on top first and then do a
- 5:12Speaker 4: swirl of honey on top of that as well. Honey,
- 5:14Speaker 4: fat free yogurt and oats together.
- 5:17Speaker 3: I certainly hope that you cut that into a little
- 5:20Speaker 3: real or a story because you did the motion of stirring.
- 5:24Speaker 4: It was so daring, it was so cute.
- 5:26Speaker 3: You can see the look in yours. I was like,
- 5:28Speaker 3: I might go have some porridge recording.
- 5:30Speaker 4: He says, here AI overview. So forgive me if this
- 5:33Speaker 4: is incorrect. But gruel is a thin porridge made by cooking.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Gruel is a thin porridge made by cooking meal. That
- 5:41Speaker 4: doesn't make any sense.
- 5:42Speaker 3: The meal is a thing as well as being a meal. Oh,
- 5:46Speaker 3: it's kind of like grain.
- 5:47Speaker 4: So Wikipedia, gruel is a food consisting of some type
- 5:50Speaker 4: of cereals such as ground oats, wheat, rite, or rice,
- 5:53Speaker 4: heated or boiled in water or milk. It is basically
- 5:56Speaker 4: like you said, it's sloppy. It's being shitty porridge without
- 5:59Speaker 4: all the extras.
- 6:00Speaker 3: I love ethote Ai. I was hallucinating though. It's just
- 6:02Speaker 3: like it's a meal made with meal.
- 6:06Speaker 4: I'm encouraged, made by cooking meal.
- 6:09Speaker 3: It is made by cooking meal, but gruel, that's what
- 6:12Speaker 3: it is. But I just love him sticking sweet, nourish
- 6:15Speaker 3: and gruel. Something else I found interesting about this episode
- 6:20Speaker 3: was you had sort of different swerves on characters we've
- 6:24Speaker 3: come to know and love. I mean, normally you view
- 6:27Speaker 3: Martin as a certain kind of thing or he does
- 6:29Speaker 3: a certain kind of thing. When it's an episode he's
- 6:31Speaker 3: very much I am teacher's pet. Oh I'm ever so smart,
- 6:34Speaker 3: that kind of thing. Having him be I wrote this
- 6:36Speaker 3: because I love this line, Daddy's chubby little secret.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Daddy' chubby little secret is so good.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Well, all that was very, very funny, but just yeah.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Spam me the euphanisms.
- 6:45Speaker 3: It's fat camp for daddy's chubby little secret. Mister princelet. Well,
- 6:49Speaker 3: I forgot what he said after that, but.
- 6:51Speaker 4: You said you wouldn't make a scene. What does he
- 6:53Speaker 4: call it? First though, it's the something enhancer, image enhancement,
- 6:57Speaker 4: can something.
- 6:59Speaker 3: So having Martin showing another aspect to his character or
- 7:04Speaker 3: another facet I thought was kind of fun.
- 7:06Speaker 4: I think it was a bit of a bitch really,
- 7:08Speaker 4: Oh yeah, a real bitch attitude.
- 7:09Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll sort of talk about image enhancement. Camp and
- 7:13Speaker 3: how that's not very twenty twenty fast. No, it's not, indeed.
- 7:16Speaker 3: But the other interesting thing was Ralph Wigham.
- 7:21Speaker 4: Yes, they hadn't worked out Ralph yet. He wasn't worked
- 7:23Speaker 4: out as Ralph as we know it until I Love Lisa,
- 7:26Speaker 4: which is later this season. I think it might be
- 7:28Speaker 4: me season episode sixteen or whatever, later this season when
- 7:31Speaker 4: he falls in love with Lisa. Blah blah blah. At
- 7:33Speaker 4: this point, sometimes he's got the wrong voice, the design
- 7:36Speaker 4: is not quite right. He's not done by any means yet.
- 7:39Speaker 3: He's just an average kid.
- 7:40Speaker 4: He's just the kid who the other kid that says
- 7:42Speaker 4: stuff occasionally. Yeah.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Yeah, So I'd be really interested to sort of do
- 7:46Speaker 3: a bit of a deep dup, which I didn't do
- 7:48Speaker 3: for this episode into I know, I guess the evolution
- 7:50Speaker 3: of Ralph and what made them decide. Okay, let's turn
- 7:53Speaker 3: him into someone who is extremely naive, virgin on, extremely dumb,
- 7:58Speaker 3: and often just extremely dumb, not even virgin.
- 8:00Speaker 4: But because I Love Lisa, he wasn't extremely dumb. He
- 8:03Speaker 4: was awkward and weird. But by the end of it,
- 8:05Speaker 4: he's like, well, he's not the Ralph Wickhan from season ten,
- 8:08Speaker 4: is he?
- 8:09Speaker 3: Oh? No, he's not. Yeah, he's not.
- 8:10Speaker 4: He hasn't gone full you know, from Tropic Thunder correct.
- 8:13Speaker 3: Yeah, but he also has one of the a line
- 8:16Speaker 3: that I think was used before The Simpsons clearly, but
- 8:20Speaker 3: I think they consoled it and just did it really well.
- 8:22Speaker 3: It's like he's funny, but he's not ha ha funny,
- 8:24Speaker 3: which I really dig. I just thought that was such
- 8:27Speaker 3: a such a great delivery. Sorry, I'm really sort of
- 8:30Speaker 3: doing favorite moments here. Yeah, but I thought it was
- 8:32Speaker 3: very interesting that you saw different sides and different versions
- 8:35Speaker 3: of different incarnations. Yeah, characters, we really really like.
- 8:38Speaker 4: They're still working out the show even in season four.
- 8:40Speaker 4: This was a carry of This and a Streetcarnae Marge
- 8:42Speaker 4: were two episodes from season three that were carryovers to
- 8:44Speaker 4: this season here. But this is such a landmark episode
- 8:46Speaker 4: and it's so memorable. Everyone remembers it. Even if it's
- 8:49Speaker 4: not necessarily the funniest or the best episode, it's iconic,
- 8:52Speaker 4: I think because it's not set in Springfield for a
- 8:54Speaker 4: lot of it, and that makes it stand out and
- 8:56Speaker 4: feel unique.
- 8:57Speaker 3: That's true. Yeah, And what you're saying about it being
- 8:59Speaker 3: a movie, I mean, James L. Brooks and I we're
- 9:02Speaker 3: very very similar people, both weak glasses, both week glasses.
- 9:06Speaker 3: I think he's probably got my head then all. Honestly,
- 9:08Speaker 3: even though he's something like eighty four, I really liked
- 9:10Speaker 3: this episode. I'm not going to fault it in any way,
- 9:12Speaker 3: but it does feel like there's a lot of stuff
- 9:14Speaker 3: in it.
- 9:15Speaker 4: It's funny because the reason they didn't make it the
- 9:17Speaker 4: movie was because our Jeam pushback saying they had they
- 9:20Speaker 4: struggled to make this the full twenty two minutes. They
- 9:22Speaker 4: had to pad it out. For example, the Krusty song
- 9:26Speaker 4: you know when they go faster or whatever, Right, they
- 9:28Speaker 4: had to extend the song to just make it to
- 9:30Speaker 4: draw the episode out. They couldn't fill twenty minutes, right,
- 9:33Speaker 4: and I'm watching this going, I don't understand how. Let's
- 9:36Speaker 4: talk about that now. So this was originally meant to
- 9:38Speaker 4: be the Simps well what James L. Brooks wanted to
- 9:39Speaker 4: be the Simpsons movie, right, And they pushed back saying
- 9:42Speaker 4: two reasons. Olgeam was worried they wouldn't have a season
- 9:44Speaker 4: premiere because they'd already set this one in to be
- 9:46Speaker 4: the season premiere. Ok, and now the one being he says,
- 9:49Speaker 4: if we couldn't pad it out for eighteen minutes. How
- 9:51Speaker 4: could we do it for eighty right? If you had
- 9:54Speaker 4: the time right and the no how so if James L.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Brooks had come to him six months prior or twelve
- 9:59Speaker 4: months Brian said this story, let's turn this into a film,
- 10:02Speaker 4: and they had the time, it wasn't a last minute thing.
- 10:04Speaker 4: There is certainly a way to pad this out to
- 10:07Speaker 4: be an eighty minute movie.
- 10:08Speaker 3: I don't think it's even patting it out. I think
- 10:10Speaker 3: I think it's flashing flashing it out.
- 10:12Speaker 4: There is a lot here that so like, for example,
- 10:14Speaker 4: they only focus on margin Homer right, and I want
- 10:17Speaker 4: to touch about that because as a married man now
- 10:20Speaker 4: with two small kids.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Out of the house, so it's getting it onto it.
- 10:25Speaker 4: So I like how they put a spotlet on that relationship,
- 10:27Speaker 4: but you could have put a spotlight on the other
- 10:29Speaker 4: parents of Springfield or just Springfield in general with our
- 10:32Speaker 4: kids running around. Oh yeah, the adults take over the
- 10:35Speaker 4: town again.
- 10:36Speaker 3: That's it's a it's a great scene when the bus
- 10:38Speaker 3: pulls off and everyone's just like yeah, it's like yeah,
- 10:41Speaker 3: you're basically opening the door to a b plot or
- 10:45Speaker 3: a parallel plot where it's like yeah, as you say,
- 10:48Speaker 3: adults in Springfield getting up to various shenanigans, which could
- 10:51Speaker 3: be fun, but also realizing, oh, you know, it's great,
- 10:54Speaker 3: but it's also a little bit empty without the kids
- 10:56Speaker 3: for some of us. Some of us are really liberated
- 10:58Speaker 3: by that. You know, Homer becomes not the better version
- 11:02Speaker 3: of himself, but he certainly sort of you know, cleans up.
- 11:04Speaker 3: He gets on a bit of a self improven kick
- 11:05Speaker 3: as a result. Then you go, yeah, I've got everything
- 11:09Speaker 3: that's happening in Camp Crusty. You don't have to pad
- 11:11Speaker 3: that at Yeah, you just flash that out and expand it.
- 11:14Speaker 3: And a bit of a b plot from that's the
- 11:16Speaker 3: story with the image enhancement Camp. I mean, I see
- 11:19Speaker 3: so much potential and so much possibility for a longer, big,
- 11:22Speaker 3: longer nun cut. Yeah.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Absolutely, so the movie you could have started off with,
- 11:26Speaker 4: you know, summer camp is a summertime. Summer breaks, some
- 11:29Speaker 4: of breaks whatever, some of holidays are approaching some of
- 11:32Speaker 4: it because the school the episode starts, when it starts
- 11:35Speaker 4: the whole and we've been told Homer said to Bar
- 11:38Speaker 4: if you get this average blah blah blah can get
- 11:40Speaker 4: to go to Camp Crusty, you could have that it's
- 11:43Speaker 4: coming up. What are we going to do with the
- 11:44Speaker 4: summer break? What are our plans? Then they all find
- 11:47Speaker 4: out about Camp Crusty. And then but told then you've
- 11:50Speaker 4: got to straighten up and flop. Maybe you can do
- 11:52Speaker 4: something rudy at the start. If you want to go
- 11:53Speaker 4: to this Camp Crusty, you've got to be better. Right.
- 11:55Speaker 4: Eventually he ends up getting there somehow, he does the
- 11:57Speaker 4: right thing, he gets his grades. Well that's not the
- 11:59Speaker 4: first fifteen minutes tournamutes of the film. Then you have
- 12:02Speaker 4: them going to Camp Krusty. I think can Krusty from
- 12:04Speaker 4: the get go if it's a film doesn't necessarily have
- 12:07Speaker 4: to be shipped from the get go, it can be
- 12:09Speaker 4: when they first get there, yeah, oh this is great.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Everything looks fantastic.
- 12:13Speaker 4: And then they run out of run out of food
- 12:16Speaker 4: or something, or just it's slowly just deteriorates, well deteriates
- 12:18Speaker 4: quite quickly where they realize, oh, this isn't what we
- 12:21Speaker 4: thought it was going to be, because at first it's like, oh,
- 12:23Speaker 4: this is great. And then you can have the parents
- 12:25Speaker 4: so focusing on Springfield and the adults of Springfield enjoying
- 12:28Speaker 4: life without the kids, right, and the parents and the
- 12:31Speaker 4: kids at the Camp Krusty also enjoying life with their parents.
- 12:33Speaker 4: This is great Red Camp Krusty, but by the end,
- 12:35Speaker 4: the kids want their parents back and the parents what
- 12:37Speaker 4: the kids back Like. This is great and having kids around,
- 12:39Speaker 4: but we miss our kids. Sure, there's a really emotional
- 12:42Speaker 4: story you can tell there as well, and a funny
- 12:44Speaker 4: story and a funny story as well. Plus you could
- 12:46Speaker 4: also focus on we don't get a spoiler on what
- 12:48Speaker 4: the teachers are doing over the summer break. There's some fun.
- 12:50Speaker 4: Skinner puts his glasses on, walks off. What's Skinner doing
- 12:52Speaker 4: over this break? I want to find it what Skinner
- 12:54Speaker 4: is and what's really doing.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Yeah, you can fold everybody into it.
- 12:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I think there is a there was a movie here,
- 13:00Speaker 4: and it's just a real shame that they run out of
- 13:02Speaker 4: time or they didn't want to. I'm not sure. But
- 13:05Speaker 4: if nicely ninety two we get this movie, I think
- 13:06Speaker 4: it would have been iconic.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Yeah. But at the same time, I think they did
- 13:10Speaker 3: a very very good job just with this episode. I mean,
- 13:13Speaker 3: as I said, it feels very sort of nicely and
- 13:16Speaker 3: tightly packed. Yeah, I don't feel like I've one thing
- 13:20Speaker 3: I always enjoy about a good story is that it
- 13:22Speaker 3: gives you sort of room to dream. Is the thing
- 13:24Speaker 3: that's you like to think about what's happening outside the
- 13:27Speaker 3: outside the frame. And yeah, for us to do our
- 13:30Speaker 3: own little fan fiction versions of like, Hey, what was
- 13:33Speaker 3: spring of some Sorry?
- 13:34Speaker 4: What was Jerry Skinner?
- 13:40Speaker 3: Hey? What was you know Skinner's summer vacation? Actually, like
- 13:43Speaker 3: what did you get up to?
- 13:45Speaker 4: What missus k do?
- 13:48Speaker 3: It's nice to imagine all that kind of stuff.
- 13:49Speaker 4: Yeah, Willie's sad because he needs the kids, because you
- 13:53Speaker 4: know he he says he hates the kids. But with
- 13:55Speaker 4: that the kids, Ain's got nothing to do. What's his purpose?
- 13:57Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 13:57Speaker 4: I just was there is a movie there, and it's
- 13:59Speaker 4: a real shame that it didn't happen. But they did
- 14:01Speaker 4: do a sequel, Camp Crustyer, which was in season twenty eight.
- 14:06Speaker 4: I believe, I'm gonna look it up here. Camp Krustier
- 14:08Speaker 4: was a sequel twenty seventeen. I believe.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Yeah, So fifteenth episode of the twenty eighth season originally
- 14:14Speaker 4: aired twenty seventeen. I have not watched it, but apparently
- 14:16Speaker 4: it is set directly so. In this episode, Barton Lisa
- 14:19Speaker 4: returned from Camp Crusty traumatized, and Homoo becomes a more
- 14:21Speaker 4: productive worker. So it's set directly after Oh okay, Camp Krusty.
- 14:26Speaker 4: So it's not like twenty it's literally it's like a
- 14:30Speaker 4: continuation of the episode.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 14:32Speaker 4: Yeah, so I'm actually really interested to check that one out.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Well, I'll tell you what, how about we do a
- 14:37Speaker 3: sequel to this episode four finger Discount or I on
- 14:41Speaker 3: Springfield or Guy on Springfield? Get it right?
- 14:43Speaker 4: Well, guyspcials for the Classics.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Okay, well, we'll come up with a new brain the Classics,
- 14:49Speaker 3: the Classics, I tell you. But there's something we should
- 14:51Speaker 3: do that I think we should have then, well, pretty
- 14:54Speaker 3: much almost immediately, because there is Crusty.
- 14:56Speaker 4: There was As I said, there was so much they
- 14:57Speaker 4: could have done here that they didn't, not saying that
- 14:59Speaker 4: I watched his I wish they did this, I wish
- 15:01Speaker 4: to do I didn't feel like I was left out.
- 15:02Speaker 4: But you can't tell me this couldn't have been a movie.
- 15:05Speaker 4: One could have been Oh yeah.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Look what if? Questions are always very very interesting and
- 15:09Speaker 3: fun to explore. Yeah, that does not take away from
- 15:11Speaker 3: anything that happens in Camp Krusty. In the slightest Yeah,
- 15:14Speaker 3: I really really enjoyed this episode for so many reasons.
- 15:18Speaker 3: I like the you know, the nostalgia aspect of it. Yeah,
- 15:21Speaker 3: just by virtue of going back to season four and
- 15:23Speaker 3: it's like, oh, well, this is the way they used
- 15:25Speaker 3: to this is the way it used to look, there's
- 15:26Speaker 3: the way it used to sound. These are the kind
- 15:28Speaker 3: of gags that they used to tell. I mean, there
- 15:29Speaker 3: are certain things in here. It's like they're not condoning
- 15:33Speaker 3: or even celebrating it, but it's kind of like, oh,
- 15:36Speaker 3: I don't think you could really sort of do an
- 15:39Speaker 3: episode about certain aspects that they cover in this well,
- 15:42Speaker 3: and certainly not in this way. You'd have to be
- 15:44Speaker 3: a little more explicit about it. Shouldn't be this is
- 15:48Speaker 3: not good. We don't like this. You know what I'm
- 15:50Speaker 3: talking about? Yes, talking about image enhancement cat. Yes, Oh
- 15:54Speaker 3: what's actually called though? Chief something?
- 16:00Speaker 4: Oh yeah, that's the go to comedy for white writers
- 16:04Speaker 4: when they're mocking Native Americans. It's Chief something. It's like
- 16:07Speaker 4: chief running back, like they've got a chief insert funny name.
- 16:10Speaker 4: That's that's the gag.
- 16:12Speaker 3: We're a little more sensitive these days. We pretend to
- 16:17Speaker 3: be a little more sensitive. Yes, we pretend to be.
- 16:18Speaker 4: Indeed, Yes, so Crusty in this episode here, I think
- 16:22Speaker 4: it was very very important. I know Cotton knew. It
- 16:24Speaker 4: is not a big thing on The Simpsons, and they
- 16:27Speaker 4: can just things happening in the end of an episode
- 16:28Speaker 4: doesn't carry over to the next. But I think it
- 16:30Speaker 4: was very important that Crusty made good by the end.
- 16:33Speaker 4: So Crusty didn't make good and he just sold the
- 16:35Speaker 4: kids out like this while they ever worship him going forward.
- 16:38Speaker 3: True, So no, he was a bit of a mensch
- 16:42Speaker 3: in the Jewish tradition.
- 16:44Speaker 4: Yeah, he actually cared.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Yeah, he came. Well, he came through. I mean I
- 16:47Speaker 3: think he cared because, like I don't want to get
- 16:49Speaker 3: really really really sued. So yeah, spoiler of the ending
- 16:54Speaker 3: taking the kids down to.
- 16:55Speaker 4: Old and the happiest place on Earth.
- 16:59Speaker 3: And he have to various South of the Border shenanigans.
- 17:02Speaker 3: By the way, a nice use of that song over
- 17:04Speaker 3: the closing grits South of the Border.
- 17:06Speaker 4: It's not Frank Sinatra down Mexico where it's not Frake Sinatra.
- 17:09Speaker 4: I didn't say it was, but the Frank Snutcher sings
- 17:11Speaker 4: the song, everyone think it's Frank Sinatcha singing it's not
- 17:14Speaker 4: it's an impersonator seeing it. Okay, Yeah, maybe I couldn't
- 17:16Speaker 4: afford to snatra who can.
- 17:21Speaker 3: Yeah, but now Christ he was great in this. I
- 17:22Speaker 3: mean you get, you get all sides of the man.
- 17:24Speaker 3: I mean, of course, he's the the absolute huckster who'll
- 17:27Speaker 3: put his name on just about anything despite the safety concerns.
- 17:30Speaker 4: And we also get the Bart reference here as well.
- 17:32Speaker 4: They wouldn't put my name to an inferior product. That's
- 17:35Speaker 4: all they did with the Simpsons in the early nineties
- 17:36Speaker 4: very much.
- 17:37Speaker 3: So yeah, I'm glad they didn't do any sort of
- 17:39Speaker 3: like Wayne's World is fourth wall breaking with that.
- 17:42Speaker 4: It's just if you know, you know, yeah, yeah, it.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Would have been a very sort of obvious and kind
- 17:47Speaker 3: of cheap nod. I mean it worked well in Wayne's World, because.
- 17:50Speaker 4: That's that's the movie.
- 17:51Speaker 3: It is.
- 17:52Speaker 4: The whole movie is just Scooby Doo.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Yeah first yeah, but for but the sort of turn
- 17:56Speaker 3: in the game and go wink be like yeah if
- 17:59Speaker 3: you know, you don't and we knew. But as for
- 18:04Speaker 3: him to be someone who I kind of likes the
- 18:07Speaker 3: spoils of success, you know, it's like, well, okay, my
- 18:11Speaker 3: odd work's done. I'm off to Wimbland to eat strawberries
- 18:13Speaker 3: and cream, which has.
- 18:14Speaker 4: Become an iconic meme trend, the strawberry face. Oh, strawberry,
- 18:18Speaker 4: it's gonna be gurnie face. People have got that face
- 18:20Speaker 4: and just added it to various carricters.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Like that, and yeah for him to realize, oh, well,
- 18:27Speaker 3: he knows what side his bread's buttered on and he'd
- 18:28Speaker 3: better make good. Yeah, you know, there's only so far
- 18:31Speaker 3: you can push the shonkiness before you know, people start
- 18:34Speaker 3: pushing back.
- 18:35Speaker 4: Do you have any flashbacks to school camps watching this episode?
- 18:37Speaker 4: Not that many so personally. I had a fear of
- 18:41Speaker 4: sleeping away from home when I was a kid, so
- 18:43Speaker 4: I never stayed over at school camp. I think I
- 18:45Speaker 4: did it once, but every time I would go there,
- 18:47Speaker 4: I'd pretend I was sick and Mum would come pick
- 18:49Speaker 4: me up, as like the teachers expected me to be
- 18:52Speaker 4: sick by the end of the first day. Surely I
- 18:54Speaker 4: look back now and think, oh, I'm missed out on
- 18:55Speaker 4: so many memories. But it was just I had a
- 18:58Speaker 4: fear of it.
- 18:58Speaker 3: Man.
- 18:59Speaker 4: I couldn't know nothing I could do could get me
- 19:01Speaker 4: out of I just was worried. Why I was scared.
- 19:04Speaker 4: I have no idea, but I wouldn't even sleep at
- 19:06Speaker 4: my friend's house. It took so much for me to
- 19:07Speaker 4: sleep somewhere else. I was just I had an severe anxiety. Man.
- 19:12Speaker 3: But I understand where you're coming from. I mean, I'm
- 19:15Speaker 3: is I say I have no recollections to school camps.
- 19:17Speaker 3: I certainly do, because I mean from maybe like you know,
- 19:21Speaker 3: grade six through to form three, so years six through
- 19:26Speaker 3: to nine or whatever. Year nine I was up at Timbertop,
- 19:28Speaker 3: which was basically camping all year round.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm talking of primary school caps.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Yeah, we didn't do that many primary school camps, but
- 19:34Speaker 3: certainly when we were adolescent, you know, and then the
- 19:37Speaker 3: early years of like middle school and things like that.
- 19:40Speaker 3: And it was weird sort of thinking about the transition
- 19:43Speaker 3: of like grade six, everyone's like, you know, giggling and
- 19:46Speaker 3: sort of like telling ghost stories and stuff like that.
- 19:48Speaker 3: And then by the time we hit Form two, like
- 19:49Speaker 3: some girls stuck into the room that we were all
- 19:51Speaker 3: in without wish to be gross. They get it on
- 19:55Speaker 3: pretty hot and handy, while there's like four other like
- 19:57Speaker 3: teenage boys around going this too. Had and I'm not
- 20:02Speaker 3: going to tell I'm not going to tell the complete Sorry,
- 20:04Speaker 3: but we've got some very interesting audio commentary from the
- 20:07Speaker 3: couple that were enjoying each other.
- 20:09Speaker 4: Shall we Oh my god, the chlory holes.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Well, if you knew, you knew. So Yeah, it's interesting
- 20:18Speaker 3: that going from that, those youthful hygiens of like, oh,
- 20:22Speaker 3: we're all having.
- 20:23Speaker 4: In primary school you're playing pranks and the girls, and
- 20:26Speaker 4: in high school you're doing other things at the Yeah,
- 20:31Speaker 4: look you're pulling.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm going decades in the past, but still a
- 20:37Speaker 3: very fond memory for me of like, you know, there
- 20:38Speaker 3: was movie night at the camp or something, and I remember,
- 20:41Speaker 3: you know, sort of lying down the front row and
- 20:42Speaker 3: I was next to the girl that I had a big,
- 20:44Speaker 3: big crush on.
- 20:45Speaker 4: Miranda was her name, not mare No, no, not me
- 20:47Speaker 4: and Mackenzie.
- 20:47Speaker 3: This name Me and Mackenzie. Pre Meiam, Mackenzie. Your teenagers.
- 20:53Speaker 3: You're still starting to not explore, but how close can
- 20:57Speaker 3: we get to one another without things going off?
- 20:59Speaker 4: The hello can be correct?
- 21:03Speaker 3: And she sort of had her arms one arm around
- 21:06Speaker 3: me in one arm around this other dude.
- 21:07Speaker 4: Who oh that's not cool. Oh that's not cool.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Oh look I knew that I was not in the
- 21:12Speaker 3: running at all. I was just happy to be there.
- 21:16Speaker 3: It was like, oh, I wonder what is this, what
- 21:18Speaker 3: it's like? So, yeah, that's a fond memory of summer
- 21:21Speaker 3: camp for me, early school camp for me.
- 21:25Speaker 4: I have this fun not fun memory, actually not fun
- 21:27Speaker 4: at all. I have this memory maybe it's like PTSD
- 21:30Speaker 4: of all the kids. I was primary school and we
- 21:32Speaker 4: had this teacher and there was Ms Redmond, and you know,
- 21:35Speaker 4: she was quite a big lady, and we had to
- 21:39Speaker 4: shower all together, like all the boys, all the boys
- 21:41Speaker 4: as well as like a group shower. I remember being
- 21:43Speaker 4: like naive, it's kind of weird. We're all like naked, right.
- 21:46Speaker 4: I remember Redmond walked in all the boys. That was like, okay,
- 21:50Speaker 4: that's when it becomes weird. Miss Reverends like walking side
- 21:53Speaker 4: my boys is tiny toga of the shower. Now she's
- 21:54Speaker 4: like getting towers with everyone and it's.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Like Miss Fradmend's looking at hers naked. That is so odd. Yeah,
- 22:00Speaker 3: that's not gonna fly. It's funny to mention that. Yeah,
- 22:05Speaker 3: I mentioned timber Top earlier. This is the campus of
- 22:08Speaker 3: the school that I went to that's up in Mansfield,
- 22:10Speaker 3: up near the mountains, and yeah, you're in these dorms. Yeah,
- 22:15Speaker 3: and you look fourteen fifteen years old and you're like
- 22:17Speaker 3: in a dorm with fourteen other fourteen year.
- 22:20Speaker 4: Old boys, stinks and stinks, and it's Lynx Africa and it's.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Basically Lord of the Flies in there.
- 22:29Speaker 4: It is official. We have finally launched Bob's Pods, a
- 22:32Speaker 4: Bob's Burger's podcast, reviewing every episode of the series exclusively
- 22:36Speaker 4: on our Patreon. We dissect the relationships, the themes, the
- 22:40Speaker 4: burger specials, and everything else that goes into making Bob's
- 22:42Speaker 4: Burgers one of the most loved animated series today. So
- 22:46Speaker 4: if you want to sink your teeth into one of
- 22:47Speaker 4: the tastiest podcasts going around, join the four finger Discam
- 22:50Speaker 4: family today at patreon dot com slash four figure discat.
- 22:55Speaker 3: But what they had was like you were talking about
- 22:57Speaker 3: a one big sort of open shower that had four nozzles,
- 23:01Speaker 3: so you know, four people can mean the shower at
- 23:03Speaker 3: the same time. You're not separated by anything. You just
- 23:05Speaker 3: foured naked do in a room in a room. Yeah.
- 23:08Speaker 3: I went to a Timbertop reunion last year and we
- 23:11Speaker 3: were going through all our old dorms and things like that,
- 23:13Speaker 3: and you're looking at the bathrooms and now they all
- 23:15Speaker 3: have individual showers, and like these kids today, they just
- 23:22Speaker 3: don't understand that, you know, comparison is the thief of joy,
- 23:26Speaker 3: all that kind of stuff. Because you know, when I
- 23:28Speaker 3: first got the Timidov, I mean, I was, as I
- 23:30Speaker 3: often say, a bit of a late bloomer. And the
- 23:32Speaker 3: dude that I was next to because we had sort
- 23:34Speaker 3: of beds allocated by alphabetical order, the dude in the
- 23:37Speaker 3: bed next to me was basically a full grown man
- 23:41Speaker 3: in all senses of the word. So I'm not sure
- 23:44Speaker 3: I want to be showing up my poets pieces I
- 23:49Speaker 3: was there for. I was at this at this school,
- 23:52Speaker 3: and I think I went like a week without having
- 23:54Speaker 3: a shower, and I think I think people eventually they
- 23:58Speaker 3: starting to notice you do it, and I'm like, Okay, I
- 24:00Speaker 3: better better have a shower. You guys look at me.
- 24:05Speaker 4: There's the Big Brother House. When the guys the ones
- 24:07Speaker 4: that were the ones you're like, oh I know why?
- 24:09Speaker 3: Oh so yeah, school camps, uh, and just being away
- 24:17Speaker 3: from your your familiar environment, can you put a little
- 24:21Speaker 3: bit of a number on you? Yeah?
- 24:22Speaker 4: You're telling That story reminded me of one of my
- 24:24Speaker 4: favorite lines now from home alone one I believe it
- 24:26Speaker 4: is maybe it's alone no time alone too, because he's
- 24:28Speaker 4: got the recorder. I never picked up on this as
- 24:31Speaker 4: a kid. But when he says, uncle Frank, is there
- 24:34Speaker 4: is his brother, like the dad's brother, Uncle Frank. Get this, Yeah,
- 24:37Speaker 4: because he's in the shower, he goes, I saw him naked.
- 24:39Speaker 4: I never grew up feeling like a real man boy
- 24:44Speaker 4: like that is such a good line, Alian, HO have
- 24:47Speaker 4: no idy what it means, but it's so funny. But yeah,
- 24:51Speaker 4: so I wanted to touch on here. We mentioned earlier
- 24:53Speaker 4: that they could have put more of a spotlight on
- 24:55Speaker 4: the adults of Springfield, but they do put a spotlight here,
- 24:57Speaker 4: at least on margin Homer and how the kids being
- 25:00Speaker 4: out of the house, how that impacts their relationship And
- 25:04Speaker 4: as I was saying, as a married man now with
- 25:06Speaker 4: two small kids, a four year old, nearly five year old,
- 25:08Speaker 4: nearly seven year old, sometimes it's nice to just have
- 25:11Speaker 4: time to yourself where you can just remember what it
- 25:15Speaker 4: was like pre kids. Not that you don't want your
- 25:17Speaker 4: kids around, It's nothing that you don't because sometimes Ali,
- 25:20Speaker 4: sometimes I'll say, oh, it's God, just we just want
- 25:22Speaker 4: to break because we say we're going out to dinner tonight,
- 25:24Speaker 4: and the kids like where they come and mom and
- 25:26Speaker 4: dad just needs our time, Like don't you want us?
- 25:28Speaker 4: So it's not that we don't want you, Oh, we
- 25:30Speaker 4: just need our times. Like they've worked at the guilt trip.
- 25:33Speaker 3: Wow, he's already hitting you with the emotional black month.
- 25:35Speaker 4: This is the thing though, Nickol and I went out
- 25:36Speaker 4: for our first date night in like six months, a
- 25:38Speaker 4: couple of weeks ago, and we're not looking at our
- 25:41Speaker 4: phones photos of the kids. I'm like, we've got to
- 25:44Speaker 4: not the big none nothing against the kids. Let's focus
- 25:47Speaker 4: on us. Yes, let's remember how yeah yeah. So but
- 25:51Speaker 4: by the end of the night, you know, we went
- 25:52Speaker 4: out to Cake Colt, owned by our friend here, Tash.
- 25:55Speaker 3: I was you mentioned it the other day. I'm like,
- 25:58Speaker 3: I'm gonna have a look at this online that it
- 25:59Speaker 3: was a nice looking cakes.
- 26:01Speaker 4: I was going to say, any Simpsons fans, if you're
- 26:03Speaker 4: stopping by a geelong, check out Cake Colt, because what Tash.
- 26:06Speaker 4: We know how talented Tash is, right, She's just like
- 26:08Speaker 4: when it comes to very gift artists, right, she gets
- 26:12Speaker 4: old paintings from we call them the oup shops, the
- 26:15Speaker 4: thrift stores or whatever, and she paints Simpsons images onto them. Right,
- 26:21Speaker 4: So she's got and it's all lighted on the walls
- 26:23Speaker 4: of Cake Cult, all these images Simpsons. So what she's done.
- 26:25Speaker 4: For example, she's got a picture of the bush and
- 26:27Speaker 4: the dam and she's painted Prime Minister Andy floating in
- 26:30Speaker 4: the dam and the two guys yelling out to him. Yeah,
- 26:34Speaker 4: she's posts. She's got a picture of like a like
- 26:36Speaker 4: a forest and she's painted a three and three. It's
- 26:39Speaker 4: gone the dark as well, mister Burns going through the
- 26:41Speaker 4: forest as the alien. She's just she's a genius. So
- 26:45Speaker 4: if you're a Simpsons fan, check out Cake Cold. I
- 26:46Speaker 4: don't want to give her a shout out, and go
- 26:48Speaker 4: check out the art that's on the walls. It's all original,
- 26:50Speaker 4: one of the kind. It's great.
- 26:53Speaker 3: If you're in Australia, Yeah, come to Geelong and check
- 26:56Speaker 3: it out. If you're international, come to Geelong and check
- 26:58Speaker 3: it out. Yeah. Jordan Mullman she did it the other day.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Well I know how he went to Cake Gop, but
- 27:01Speaker 3: he certainly came to Gelong.
- 27:02Speaker 4: I had Mars Bar slice and when I got it,
- 27:05Speaker 4: I was like, oh, this is getting much. I was
- 27:07Speaker 4: halfway through, and I was like, fool, so rich, so rich.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Yeah, it looks like she's making a key lime pie,
- 27:12Speaker 3: which is something I tend to enjoy, so I'm going
- 27:14Speaker 3: to go check it out.
- 27:15Speaker 4: She makes everything in house all herself. She's an absolute trooper.
- 27:18Speaker 3: She is friend of the pod, friend of the pod,
- 27:20Speaker 3: friend of the pod.
- 27:21Speaker 4: But yeah, so what were your thoughts on Margin Homer's
- 27:23Speaker 4: relationship improving by the kids being out?
- 27:25Speaker 3: I liked it.
- 27:26Speaker 4: I thought it was really funny. It was just nice
- 27:28Speaker 4: seeing Homer and Marge get a chance to just let
- 27:29Speaker 4: their hair down, grow some hair, exact, drop some pounds, relax.
- 27:33Speaker 4: I think when Homer sneaks into Margin shower things, because
- 27:35Speaker 4: we've always seen them they've got a pretty healthy sex life.
- 27:37Speaker 3: They certainly do, but just relaxed, pretty sexy.
- 27:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I know, going for picnics.
- 27:41Speaker 3: There was certainly an indications like oh yeah, things are, yeah,
- 27:45Speaker 3: definitely going to change now that they've got the house
- 27:46Speaker 3: for themselves. I mean, I wonder what poor old Maggie
- 27:48Speaker 3: was up to, probably asleep at that stage. Yeah, certainly
- 27:51Speaker 3: that first getting in the showers, like my damn. I
- 27:53Speaker 3: think that's a bit later on where I don't know
- 27:56Speaker 3: if Homer gets into bed or something, so he's not
- 27:58Speaker 3: five pounds, Oh no, no, no, no, not that. But oh yeah,
- 28:01Speaker 3: but Goodson's like, I don't think you're just getting in
- 28:04Speaker 3: the bed. I think you're actually sort of getting down
- 28:08Speaker 3: going downstairs.
- 28:10Speaker 4: Good for you.
- 28:13Speaker 3: No, I really enjoyed that aspect of it.
- 28:14Speaker 1: I mean.
- 28:16Speaker 3: I thought it was just really well put across by
- 28:18Speaker 3: the by the voice acting, by the animation, all that
- 28:21Speaker 3: kind of business, and for to have that lovely payoff.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Not lovely for Homer, of course, but when you know
- 28:27Speaker 3: it's revealed that Bart's the ring, don't be the boy,
- 28:29Speaker 3: don't be the boy of the camp, Crossy takeover and
- 28:32Speaker 3: just like here immediately falls out, gut immediately protrudes. Oh
- 28:35Speaker 3: the poor dude. Yeah, all that hard work and good
- 28:38Speaker 3: effort has just been instantly reversed.
- 28:42Speaker 4: And speaking of reverse, it was actually quite a nice
- 28:44Speaker 4: role reversal because leading up to the camp, Marge was
- 28:47Speaker 4: the one who was worried, and so she's going to
- 28:48Speaker 4: miss everybody, and she just want them to go. The
- 28:50Speaker 4: kids couldn't wait to get there. They get the camp,
- 28:52Speaker 4: they want to get home, and their parents are like,
- 28:54Speaker 4: you can stay there, exactly to the point where even
- 28:57Speaker 4: Lisa sends the letter right say help us, help us. Now,
- 29:01Speaker 4: I feel normally Marge would have listened to that and gone,
- 29:04Speaker 4: I wanted to go help them. But do you think
- 29:05Speaker 4: because their life had improved so much, they subconscious subconsciousness
- 29:09Speaker 4: went overreacting, overreacting. Yeah, but there's an out one of that.
- 29:15Speaker 4: But also it's just you know, expect you kids overreacting.
- 29:17Speaker 4: When we got to pick it up, she won't want
- 29:18Speaker 4: to come home.
- 29:20Speaker 3: That's right. Yeah, this is a great doesn't really feel
- 29:25Speaker 3: like a B plot so much. There's not a whole
- 29:27Speaker 3: lot of focus put on the It's more just like
- 29:29Speaker 3: a little bit of a tangent or a tributary.
- 29:31Speaker 4: Well, they needed to have some sort of focus on
- 29:34Speaker 4: what other parents doing when the kids are away. But
- 29:35Speaker 4: I just think they could have been more focused on
- 29:37Speaker 4: more parents and just just the adult scene in general.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Oh certainly. I mean if you were making this on
- 29:42Speaker 3: a movie, I think that's absolutely what you do. Yeah
- 29:44Speaker 3: and sorry, sort of like Springfield after Dark. Yeah, yeah,
- 29:47Speaker 3: with the yeah, when it's just what the adults get up.
- 29:49Speaker 4: What's an example of things that could have been done?
- 29:51Speaker 4: What could the adults be doing that would normally maybe
- 29:53Speaker 4: all the men go to the arcade. They can finally
- 29:55Speaker 4: play the old arcade game games.
- 29:57Speaker 3: The kids.
- 29:58Speaker 4: Yeah, parents can go watch a movie that kids running
- 30:00Speaker 4: around the movies anymore.
- 30:02Speaker 3: Wow, sounds like someone would the kids only theater and
- 30:06Speaker 3: had to lay down the law.
- 30:09Speaker 4: Just just it's kind of like when I have the
- 30:11Speaker 4: curfew in the opeople, like we can go outside here.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Lest thing. I mean, of course we've seen what it's
- 30:18Speaker 3: like Springfield when the sun goes down and there are
- 30:21Speaker 3: night spots and eateries and all that kind of stuff,
- 30:24Speaker 3: but yeah, we don't really ever get a sense of what,
- 30:27Speaker 3: yeah it's like as a town or as a city.
- 30:30Speaker 3: So yeah, exactly what they get up to more. I've
- 30:33Speaker 3: got to think about that a bit more. But yeah,
- 30:35Speaker 3: I just like the idea of, you know, night times
- 30:37Speaker 3: the time for grown ups.
- 30:38Speaker 4: Yeah, all the times the time for grown ups. Well
- 30:41Speaker 4: it is yeah, yeah. Now this one here though, there's
- 30:44Speaker 4: been talk that this one is kind of like a
- 30:46Speaker 4: rip off of a Simpsons game that came out in
- 30:49Speaker 4: nineteen ninety one, about a year prior. It's for the
- 30:52Speaker 4: Game Boy. Now I have never played this game, but
- 30:55Speaker 4: this game is called Bart Simpson's Escape from Camp Deadly.
- 30:58Speaker 4: It is a nineteen ninety one platform video game for
- 31:01Speaker 4: the Game Boy developed by Imagineering, published by Acclaim in
- 31:04Speaker 4: North America and Europe in nineteen ninety one. The game
- 31:06Speaker 4: was released in Japan in ninety three, two years later.
- 31:09Speaker 4: In bart simpsons Escape from Camp Deadly, the player controls
- 31:12Speaker 4: Bart from the television series to Simpsons as he escapes
- 31:14Speaker 4: from an unpleasant summer camp run by ruthless counselors.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Well, that sounds a little bit familiar.
- 31:20Speaker 4: The plot is similar to that of the Simps that
- 31:21Speaker 4: was a Camp Crusty, although the game was released near
- 31:23Speaker 4: the year before and they have denied that there was
- 31:25Speaker 4: any relation in the gameplay. So basically it says here,
- 31:29Speaker 4: I won't read the whole thing, but bartonless to go
- 31:31Speaker 4: to spend the summer at a camp which turns out
- 31:33Speaker 4: to be the dangerous Camp Deadly, run by mister Burns's nephew,
- 31:36Speaker 4: Iron Fist Burns. I'm fit Burns, who was honestly a
- 31:40Speaker 4: picture of Im Fisher. How are you envisioning Iron Fist
- 31:42Speaker 4: Burns to look? Let's have a look, obviously, get the
- 31:46Speaker 4: game Boy version of what he looks like.
- 31:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think it's going to be all that detailed.
- 31:49Speaker 3: But Iron Fist Burns like, sorry, his nephew, did you say?
- 31:52Speaker 4: Yeah, it just looks like a younger Monty Burns, basically like,
- 31:56Speaker 4: that's him there, So that's that's what he's looking on
- 31:58Speaker 4: the game. Boy, hang on, ads, ads, pop ups and ads, Hey,
- 32:02Speaker 4: where are we? So there he is there. It's just
- 32:07Speaker 4: mister Burns, but he's got a different hat. It looks
- 32:10Speaker 4: like a beekeeper birds, but he's he's a counselor. Iron
- 32:14Speaker 4: Fist Burns is in the game, and his intentions are
- 32:19Speaker 4: to make sure that the children suffer and have as
- 32:21Speaker 4: little fun as possible, refusing to allow them to leave
- 32:23Speaker 4: until they are thoroughly miserable. In the first stage of
- 32:26Speaker 4: the game, Butt and the other children play capture the
- 32:28Speaker 4: Flag in a forest as part of the camp's morning activity,
- 32:30Speaker 4: but it is harassed by camp cancelors and bullies, blindside
- 32:33Speaker 4: Bill and rebound Rodney. Oh my gosh, liiteration was a
- 32:36Speaker 4: big deal here. Apparently it must make his way through
- 32:38Speaker 4: the nests of angry bees and other obstacles.
- 32:40Speaker 3: Look all that works for a game. The fact that yeah,
- 32:43Speaker 3: he's just a grumpoo or a grouch or whatever who
- 32:46Speaker 3: wants to make life missile for the kids. Okay, damn kids.
- 32:49Speaker 3: I mean I'm glad that the episode fleshed it out
- 32:52Speaker 3: and turn it into sort of like a forced labor
- 32:54Speaker 3: camp as well.
- 32:55Speaker 4: Yeah, they can waltz for Gucci.
- 32:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, otherwise, you know, what's the Oh, we
- 33:01Speaker 3: just run a shit camp and you know we've got
- 33:03Speaker 3: you know, the bullies as counselors or whatever. It's good
- 33:05Speaker 3: that there's a bit of a reason that the kid
- 33:08Speaker 3: that the kids are there.
- 33:10Speaker 4: Yeah. Apparently Jason Vorhes was one of the characters in
- 33:12Speaker 4: the original version of the game. They took him out. Yeah,
- 33:15Speaker 4: this reception is not great or three point four out
- 33:17Speaker 4: of five. It's not terrible. No, no, But I want
- 33:20Speaker 4: to play all these old school early nineties game Boy
- 33:23Speaker 4: games and Superintenda games because I remember hiring one I
- 33:26Speaker 4: think it was called Bart's Nightmare, and my god, I
- 33:28Speaker 4: had no idea what was going on. It's just I know,
- 33:32Speaker 4: I guess you didn't grow up in the nineties, but
- 33:33Speaker 4: you'd hire games from the video store and quite often
- 33:36Speaker 4: you'd never played it, and there was no cheats unless
- 33:39Speaker 4: you'd call the five door a minute hot line. There's
- 33:40Speaker 4: no way, mums let me do that. And you couldn't
- 33:43Speaker 4: work at the first level, so you just played the
- 33:44Speaker 4: first level over and over and over and over again.
- 33:46Speaker 4: So many games from my childhood, I've played maybe the
- 33:48Speaker 4: first two levels just and my mum was like, but
- 33:51Speaker 4: you just played it over and over. You didn't you
- 33:53Speaker 4: didn't see it. You just played the first two levels over.
- 33:55Speaker 4: You knew once he got to the end of the
- 33:56Speaker 4: second level, I might as well turn it off and
- 33:57Speaker 4: on again because I can't do the third level, you know. So, yeah,
- 34:00Speaker 4: I want to play these earlier Simpsons games, but yeah,
- 34:02Speaker 4: Bart Simpson's Escape from Camp Deadly on the game Boy.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Hopefully it'll work out better if we with the benefit
- 34:08Speaker 3: of a little more life experience. I'm just imagining you
- 34:12Speaker 3: just frustrated the end of level doing that. It's still
- 34:15Speaker 3: not working.
- 34:18Speaker 4: But what was shipped me though, and kids from the
- 34:20Speaker 4: nineties can relate, maybe even the eighties, not sure, but
- 34:21Speaker 4: you'd get the game cover and on the back of
- 34:24Speaker 4: the cover you'd see screenshots of the final boss whatever.
- 34:27Speaker 4: You're like, one day, one day, I'll get there. And
- 34:30Speaker 4: now as an adult, you just go on YouTube and
- 34:32Speaker 4: someone doesn't walk through it takes them like thirteen minutes
- 34:34Speaker 4: to finish the whole game, and you're like, I spent
- 34:35Speaker 4: thirteen years that couldn't get by the first level.
- 34:39Speaker 3: I have spoken many times about the joy that I
- 34:42Speaker 3: experienced at the Las Vegas Penny Parlort here in Geelong
- 34:44Speaker 3: when I finally defeated goro oh in Mortal Combat.
- 34:48Speaker 4: Did you really it's a big deal. Took a lot
- 34:51Speaker 4: of twenty pieces when they tried and tried, and you
- 34:53Speaker 4: finally do it, and the payoffs is nothing special like
- 34:57Speaker 4: visually usually, but I did it.
- 35:00Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, it feels like a real sense of accomplishment.
- 35:02Speaker 4: Yeah. Elliott collected these gems and crash bandicoot and he
- 35:06Speaker 4: fucking he was there all day. He's trying, he's trying.
- 35:08Speaker 4: I said, mate, does let me everyone me to do
- 35:09Speaker 4: it for He's like, no, I'll do it. And then
- 35:10Speaker 4: when I was sitting here him and.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Go, yes, I do Dad, and I was like, you know,
- 35:16Speaker 2: I'm actually.
- 35:16Speaker 4: Fucking really proud of you, mate. You just you didn't
- 35:18Speaker 4: give up. You persevered and you percive it and you
- 35:20Speaker 4: did it. Good for you, buddy.
- 35:22Speaker 3: It's a real yeah. It's a real sense of a coulisher.
- 35:24Speaker 3: I felt like the last star Fighter.
- 35:25Speaker 4: I was always like surprised. I was like, holy shit,
- 35:28Speaker 4: the kid did it. He didn't give up a bitch,
- 35:32Speaker 4: son of a bitch.
- 35:35Speaker 3: My favorite things that I enjoyed from this episode. Yeah,
- 35:40Speaker 3: I've spoken before about how Miss Hoover is kind of
- 35:43Speaker 3: my spirit animal.
- 35:44Speaker 4: Oh man, is she somewhat relatable in this or what right?
- 35:46Speaker 3: It's like, let's just quietly run out the clock.
- 35:49Speaker 4: I have nothing else to say to you.
- 35:52Speaker 3: Good.
- 35:52Speaker 4: One of the best dirtiest lines, actually, one of the
- 35:55Speaker 4: dirtiest lines I've seen from modern Simpsons is it's a
- 36:00Speaker 4: forward episodes. It's a future one and Bart sleeps as
- 36:03Speaker 4: adult Bart's Miss Hoover and he says, now I know
- 36:06Speaker 4: why they call you miss Hoover.
- 36:08Speaker 5: Oh boy, it's pretty Yeah, you knew there was a
- 36:18Speaker 5: result like Missover prior to that.
- 36:21Speaker 3: However, great soundtrack Q School's Out by Alice Cooper. What
- 36:25Speaker 3: a fantastic song.
- 36:26Speaker 4: Yeah, perfect, perfect for this scenarios.
- 36:30Speaker 3: And apparently literally fits this. But at the same time,
- 36:32Speaker 3: it's just got just got that great chorus that you
- 36:35Speaker 3: can just school out for ever.
- 36:38Speaker 4: And I was the nineties kid, it was well, we
- 36:40Speaker 4: don't need no one to tell us what they do
- 36:46Speaker 4: living in right, yeah society, yes.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Right, while we're still in school. I just thought this
- 36:52Speaker 3: was a great gay. I don't know if we've ever
- 36:53Speaker 3: seen this teacher before or since.
- 36:56Speaker 4: Wait a minute, you don't know how world War two
- 36:59Speaker 4: what we won?
- 37:01Speaker 3: It was like, yeah, but you hey, you s a.
- 37:06Speaker 3: I really got a good laugh. I mean, I know
- 37:09Speaker 3: we said, yeah, it's not necessarily like a laugh a
- 37:11Speaker 3: minute episode, but there's a lot of it's not faint
- 37:15Speaker 3: praise to sort of chuckle at a gig, but also
- 37:19Speaker 3: think that's just great, that's just really it's really smart. Yeah. Yeah,
- 37:24Speaker 3: it wasn't necessarily like rolling around the floor at us
- 37:26Speaker 3: A USA or the whole we won you world War two,
- 37:29Speaker 3: but we won. I just really like how they how
- 37:32Speaker 3: they put that together, Marge and Homer getting hot and
- 37:36Speaker 3: having the shower and that was great. I mentioned earlier
- 37:40Speaker 3: Ralph before you know, he's funny but not funny. And
- 37:45Speaker 3: which of the bullies was I think it's Jimbo who
- 37:47Speaker 3: you know they're talking about. It's crusty, crusty brand imitation grewel.
- 37:51Speaker 4: This is Dolph.
- 37:52Speaker 3: I was a dolph. Okay, sorry that nine out of
- 37:54Speaker 3: ten's orphans can't tell the difference.
- 37:57Speaker 4: Is it nine or eight out of ten?
- 37:59Speaker 3: Other was nine out?
- 38:00Speaker 4: Yeah? I liked you spoil a couple of my favorite
- 38:03Speaker 4: moments there, and I've already touched on my gentlemen to
- 38:05Speaker 4: evil and whatnot. But also I like the here's the
- 38:07Speaker 4: cabin if you don't like it, ts, the.
- 38:14Speaker 3: Younger members, the younger members. When I think about it, yeah, TS?
- 38:24Speaker 3: What else? What else?
- 38:26Speaker 4: I'm basically already covered all mine. We're going to do
- 38:28Speaker 4: a full review, but I do have something for you
- 38:30Speaker 4: and called trivia questions.
- 38:31Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, okay, I'll accept it. Next question you
- 38:35Speaker 3: there eating the Beast.
- 38:37Speaker 4: First question for you is what's the new grading system
- 38:40Speaker 4: according to bart Oh?
- 38:43Speaker 3: Is it D, B, A C. Well done? Yes? While
- 38:47Speaker 3: we're talking sequences of things, what are the lottery numbers
- 38:52Speaker 3: that are read out on the radio.
- 38:54Speaker 4: In order they're gonna check my notes? I know that
- 38:56Speaker 4: eight is one that Homer does have, thirty seven is one?
- 38:59Speaker 3: No? Five?
- 39:01Speaker 4: Yes, forty no? What are they?
- 39:04Speaker 3: They are seventeen, thirty two, five, eight and forty.
- 39:08Speaker 4: Seven forty seven A and not thirty seven fool. Where
- 39:12Speaker 4: what is camp Krusty below? Where is it situated? Oh?
- 39:15Speaker 3: Is this in the song? Yeah? Oh, because I took
- 39:20Speaker 3: something out of the song, but not that. Is it
- 39:22Speaker 3: mounts something?
- 39:24Speaker 4: I forget. What's happening when they're saying it? They're running
- 39:27Speaker 4: down a hill?
- 39:28Speaker 3: Oh? Mad avalanche? Yes? Well okay, what is it on
- 39:31Speaker 3: the shores of them?
- 39:33Speaker 4: Oh? No, what is it? Big snake lake? Big snake lake?
- 39:36Speaker 4: Of course, yeah, because the snake's in the cabin and everything.
- 39:40Speaker 4: Let's find one more. All right, here's one. I don't
- 39:43Speaker 4: know his name, but i'll throw it to you anyway.
- 39:45Speaker 4: Who is in the nurse's office when school's doing the countdown?
- 39:48Speaker 3: Oh, and he's the one who says two. Yeah, I
- 39:50Speaker 3: don't know.
- 39:51Speaker 4: It's Wendell. Oh, which fits his bil because he's always
- 39:53Speaker 4: the one who's sick on the bus and everything. Yeah, Wendell.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Great name, Wendell, Wendell. Yeah, I've got a few more
- 40:00Speaker 3: trip question.
- 40:01Speaker 4: No one's going to give you one a lot trivia.
- 40:03Speaker 4: It's it's a guy in Springfie. Let's just some more.
- 40:04Speaker 3: Well, okay, then fine, Which of Bart's textbooks is still
- 40:09Speaker 3: in its plastic wrapping?
- 40:10Speaker 4: Oh, it's maths.
- 40:12Speaker 3: It's maths? Yeah, or is our American friends say math math?
- 40:16Speaker 4: Yes? What or how long has mister Black been the
- 40:21Speaker 4: president of euro Krusty?
- 40:23Speaker 3: He was, He was the president for fifteen years. Yes, yes,
- 40:27Speaker 3: for blew up? What is in the oh? No, no,
- 40:32Speaker 3: Krusty at Wimbledon? Is watching which match between which two players?
- 40:36Speaker 1: Well?
- 40:36Speaker 4: I know Becker is one now Boris Becker, Lyndall Lendall, Lendall,
- 40:40Speaker 4: Ivan Lendall, Ivan Landell or varn Lndall. Apparently true, So
- 40:43Speaker 4: Ivan Lendall versus Boris Becker? Was that the actual match?
- 40:46Speaker 4: Let's have a look. Let's find out. We got the internet.
- 40:49Speaker 4: Wimbledon's this is ninety two? Wasn't it Wimbledon? When did
- 40:52Speaker 4: this air? Was this ninety two? Ninety two? Yeah, Wimbledon
- 40:55Speaker 4: nineteen ninety two, let's google it. Boris Becker lost to
- 41:00Speaker 4: Michael Stitch. No, so, yes, Leondar didn't play Backer. There
- 41:02Speaker 4: we go. I thought maybe it was just Yeah, I
- 41:04Speaker 4: think they're just a random name, throwing out two of
- 41:06Speaker 4: the biggest names in tennis at the time. Yes, yeah,
- 41:09Speaker 4: and yes, that was your trivia question. I'll find one
- 41:11Speaker 4: more for you in my notes. Right, what buttons didn't
- 41:17Speaker 4: work on the crusty brand calculator that Bart had.
- 41:20Speaker 3: Was it a seven and eight or ok?
- 41:23Speaker 4: Yeah, well good for me. Any more questions?
- 41:26Speaker 3: Okay, one last question? Alrighty, what's in the cookies made by.
- 41:30Speaker 4: March the jelly beans? Jelly beans sounds delicious kinda does
- 41:33Speaker 4: and anything made by March it does not suck. I'm sorry,
- 41:35Speaker 4: Konnie's just being a dick. True, There's no way Marge
- 41:38Speaker 4: makes anything that doesn't taste good, right, She's March.
- 41:40Speaker 3: True.
- 41:40Speaker 4: Jelly bean cookie does sound good. Jelly bean cookie yeah, yeah,
- 41:43Speaker 4: those little jelly belly ones, although they might get a
- 41:46Speaker 4: bit chewy, because I like you. You have Eminem's and cookies.
- 41:50Speaker 4: You've had one of those ones before.
- 41:51Speaker 3: I'm aware of.
- 41:51Speaker 4: Where like the chocolate melts, like chocolate chips melt in
- 41:53Speaker 4: the cookie when it's oh my god, I'm aware they
- 41:55Speaker 4: were delicious. Yeah. I was gonna do some stone kind

- 43:45Speaker 4: this episode was in fact September twenty fourth, nineteen ninety two.
- 43:49Speaker 4: It was written by David Emstern, who actually wrote Camp
- 43:52Speaker 4: Crustier as well. He hadn't written episode. He hadn't written
- 43:54Speaker 4: episode for eighteen years, and he came back to write
- 43:57Speaker 4: that one, which is pretty cool wow, and directed by
- 43:59Speaker 4: the legendary Mark Kirkland. The chopboor gig this punishment is
- 44:02Speaker 4: not boring and pointless, and the couch gig is the
- 44:05Speaker 4: family finds Fred Flintstone Wilma and Pebbles already sitting on
- 44:08Speaker 4: their couch. Because there's a comparison between the Simpsons and
- 44:10Speaker 4: The Flintstones. Well, of course, yeah, because I think they
- 44:13Speaker 4: broke the Flintstones record for longest running animated show. Maybe
- 44:17Speaker 4: sounds about roy because the Flintstones were primetime, right, yeah, yeah, anyway,
- 44:21Speaker 4: but yeah, Flintstones I show that I've never I've put
- 44:23Speaker 4: on once for the kids, and the kids just didn't
- 44:25Speaker 4: seem to really. They like the Flintstones movie. They love
- 44:28Speaker 4: Viva Rock Vegas, fucking love Viva Rock Corse good movie.
- 44:32Speaker 4: We have said this, Yeah, very underrated movie. Stephen Baldwin
- 44:37Speaker 4: born to play Barnie Rubble doesn't have the star power
- 44:39Speaker 4: that the first one has. But man, it is a
- 44:41Speaker 4: fun film. It knows exactly what it is and it
- 44:43Speaker 4: just plays up to it. It's Bunny Ruble in the
- 44:45Speaker 4: first one. Frick Miranda's right, Moranas, Yeah yeah. John Goodman
- 44:48Speaker 4: is as Fred Flintstone. Yeah, ROSSI o'donald plays honestly. Who
- 44:53Speaker 4: plays Betty in the sequel. I think it's Jane Yeah,
- 44:57Speaker 4: fucking amazing Betty, amazing Betty and Baldwyn as as Barney.
- 45:02Speaker 3: I'm perfect casting.
- 45:03Speaker 4: I just say perfect casting. It's kind of like you
- 45:08Speaker 4: look at it sometimes and you go they were made
- 45:10Speaker 4: for that role. Much like matt first Shaggy. Yes, you
- 45:13Speaker 4: watched you like, there's no there's no other Shaggy. If
- 45:16Speaker 4: you ever make a live action Scooby, he has to
- 45:18Speaker 4: be Shaggy.
- 45:18Speaker 3: That's saying. I was no fan of Matthew a little loud.
- 45:20Speaker 3: I thought he was an overacting goose. But I saw
- 45:24Speaker 3: him not sanction his buffoonery. I did not sanction that
- 45:26Speaker 3: buffoonery at all, but I saw him in Scooby Do.
- 45:28Speaker 3: I thought that one. You're nol buddy, well done, good
- 45:30Speaker 3: for you.
- 45:30Speaker 4: There was one clip I saw on social media this
- 45:32Speaker 4: week speaking of buffoonery and not sanctioning it. Of beaves
- 45:35Speaker 4: and bunhead like accepting an award or announcing an award,
- 45:38Speaker 4: added an awards ceremony, like presenting an award like they're
- 45:40Speaker 4: animated into it, so they're not really there and everyone's
- 45:42Speaker 4: going wildly Jones and he won't of an applause, You
- 45:45Speaker 4: won't do andy? Is that sit the stone face?
- 45:48Speaker 3: I think that's a bit of a regular meme. That one.
- 45:52Speaker 3: It's that and it's a scene from No Country for
- 45:54Speaker 3: Old Men, where he's basically just sort of looking at you.
- 45:56Speaker 4: Yeah, he's just sitting in the crowd, not impressed at all.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Tommy A right.
- 46:04Speaker 4: So the episode kicks off with it's the last day
- 46:06Speaker 4: of school, and But gets his report card and unfortunately
- 46:10Speaker 4: has all f's, and But says missus Kane, look, I
- 46:12Speaker 4: need to see average Nord to get the camp crusty.
- 46:14Speaker 4: So she changes it for him, and much obliged, Dole
- 46:16Speaker 4: slaps her on the took us and immediately go, yes,
- 46:19Speaker 4: something that's not right. And if that's not if that's
- 46:23Speaker 4: not what triggers it's when she says I'm going to
- 46:25Speaker 4: miss you. Yes, something's definitely up.
- 46:29Speaker 3: What was it? Was the swat on the butt the
- 46:31Speaker 3: first indication that this was a not quite real.
- 46:34Speaker 4: But because I don't I can't remember my first impressions
- 46:36Speaker 4: because I just remembered that this was a dream. I
- 46:38Speaker 4: just I've seen it so many times I can't really
- 46:40Speaker 4: recall when I first watched it. I think it would
- 46:42Speaker 4: have been when he slept on the bum and she
- 46:43Speaker 4: sort of laughed about it. Would have gone that's weird.
- 46:45Speaker 3: Yeah, the changing the fs to sees, you could almost
- 46:49Speaker 3: buy made almost even that's a stretch. Yeah, then yeah,
- 46:56Speaker 3: the little sweat on the butt, and it's like, yeah,
- 47:00Speaker 3: that's okay. I'm a little confused and uh yeah. But
- 47:06Speaker 3: we then realize, oh, we're deep in the middle of
- 47:08Speaker 3: a dream here.
- 47:08Speaker 4: And then Skinner of course announces, I hope you brought
- 47:11Speaker 4: your implements of destruction. Oh shits, this is not real,
- 47:14Speaker 4: and he asked the kids to torch permanent records are
- 47:16Speaker 4: destroying the school. Apparently this is a take from the
- 47:19Speaker 4: final sequence of Rock and Roll High School. Oh Yeah
- 47:22Speaker 4: by the Ramones. I never seen the film. I love
- 47:25Speaker 4: the song, I love Rockaway Beaches, I love the Ramones music.
- 47:28Speaker 4: I've never seen the film.
- 47:29Speaker 3: Yeah, it's pretty good. It's been a long time since
- 47:32Speaker 3: I've seen it. But basically it's just your sort of
- 47:34Speaker 3: typical high school shenanigans with a lot of Ramones dropped
- 47:37Speaker 3: in there.
- 47:37Speaker 4: Yeah, it's pretty fast, it sounds perfect.
- 47:43Speaker 3: No, there's some good stuff to there's plenty of stuff
- 47:44Speaker 3: to enjoy rock and roll.
- 47:45Speaker 4: There's actually a lot of cultural references in this episode.
- 47:48Speaker 4: So another one was the scene where Lisa gives the
- 47:50Speaker 4: bottle of whiskey to the men on the horseback. Do
- 47:51Speaker 4: you know what that's a take?
- 47:52Speaker 3: Yeah? No, tell me about that because that.
- 47:53Speaker 4: As a reference to Meryl strips seen from the film
- 47:55Speaker 4: The French Lieutenant's Woman. Okay, some aspects of the episode
- 47:58Speaker 4: of references to the novel A lot of the flies, yeah,
- 48:01Speaker 4: of course, the pig's head on the spear, and the
- 48:03Speaker 4: kids just wanting the pain similar to dash Bus, that
- 48:05Speaker 4: kind of aspect with that his takeover and go crazy.
- 48:07Speaker 4: The scene where Kennie beats a drum to meet the
- 48:09Speaker 4: camper's work and the sweatshop is taken from the slave
- 48:12Speaker 4: scene in the nine to fifty nine film Ben hur
- 48:14Speaker 4: Mm hmm, I didn't know that one. The episode ends
- 48:16Speaker 4: with the song South of the Board. According to the
- 48:17Speaker 4: DVD commentary, the song was not sung by Frank Sinatra,
- 48:19Speaker 4: but by another artist impersonating him. When Krusty is confronted
- 48:23Speaker 4: by the reporters and he asks if him and Princess
- 48:25Speaker 4: diet are just friends. A more cryptic reference was made
- 48:28Speaker 4: when he confronted by another reporter and he retorts, what
- 48:31Speaker 4: were you? Where were you when I sang it? Farm Aide.
- 48:33Speaker 4: Apparently this is a reference which was inspired by Jackie Mason,
- 48:37Speaker 4: who voiced Krusty's dad in the show, making the remark
- 48:40Speaker 4: where were you when I marched in the civil rights movement?
- 48:42Speaker 4: Apparently he made that reference to a reporter at some point,
- 48:45Speaker 4: and that's a reference to that.
- 48:46Speaker 3: Golly good golly. Yeah.
- 48:48Speaker 4: Yeah, So it's the last day of school when it's
- 48:50Speaker 4: a dream essentially the destroying the school.
- 48:53Speaker 3: Anarchy to the tune of Schools out by Alice Cooper.
- 48:56Speaker 4: Yeah, but I think bart having a gun at school
- 48:58Speaker 4: something they'd probably avoid.
- 48:59Speaker 3: Now, I imagine. So yes, yeah, I s and top
- 49:03Speaker 3: as we've touched as we've touched on that, Yeah, you
- 49:05Speaker 3: really should just avoid.
- 49:06Speaker 4: It's not shooting people, but just a visual of a
- 49:08Speaker 4: kid with a gun out of school. I just just
- 49:09Speaker 4: want to avoid that kind of thing. Yeah. Also permanent records.
- 49:13Speaker 4: That was never something I was ever threatened with a school.
- 49:15Speaker 4: Granted I was a bit of a goodie two shoes
- 49:17Speaker 4: at school. But are there a thing in Australia your
- 49:19Speaker 4: permanent record or they just references something else. This is
- 49:22Speaker 4: going on your permanent record. You always hear it, your
- 49:24Speaker 4: permanent record.
- 49:25Speaker 3: I mentioned this the other day with that song by
- 49:26Speaker 3: the Violent Fans where it's like I hope you know
- 49:28Speaker 3: this will go down on your permanent record.
- 49:30Speaker 4: That's right, you did too.
- 49:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think it's ever referred to as such
- 49:34Speaker 3: by teachers or anything like that. Maybe it is these days.
- 49:37Speaker 3: You always heard about it. But then I was not
- 49:40Speaker 3: quite as much of a goodie two's shoes as you were.
- 49:42Speaker 3: I mean, I wasn't like the bad boy, but I
- 49:45Speaker 3: know occasionally misbehaved. Honey, that's probably just the undiagnosed ADHD
- 49:50Speaker 3: or something like that. But I remember when I was
- 49:53Speaker 3: at Timbatop, the afore mentioned Timtop, a teacher pulled me
- 49:57Speaker 3: and another kid aside. I think we're chaplain. We were
- 50:00Speaker 3: just kind of talking and acting up and being silly,
- 50:03Speaker 3: and this teacher, who I did not like and who
- 50:04Speaker 3: did not like me, took us into the rund to
- 50:07Speaker 3: sort of give us a bit of a finger wagging
- 50:09Speaker 3: stern talking to. And he said to the other kid,
- 50:11Speaker 3: he said, people are noticing you and your bad behavior.
- 50:15Speaker 3: Any pointed, people already know about you, and you're bad.
- 50:17Speaker 3: And I'm like, ah, what the fuck? Because I knew people,
- 50:23Speaker 3: I knew kids who were much worse than me, who
- 50:26Speaker 3: behaved much more bad.
- 50:27Speaker 4: Yeah, you've got a chance.
- 50:29Speaker 3: You it's like you're already on notice. I'm like, what
- 50:31Speaker 3: the fuck? Man are their teachers are? Like I would
- 50:36Speaker 3: have loved if I said that. That would have been so great.
- 50:39Speaker 3: Of course I didn't because it was cowed but had
- 50:41Speaker 3: a child. But I think that was my first inkling
- 50:45Speaker 3: in indication, was like, oh, they've written they've written notes
- 50:48Speaker 3: about us, you know, and they get passed on from
- 50:51Speaker 3: campus to camp.
- 50:51Speaker 4: Talking about us.
- 50:52Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's of course they would and yeah, yeah,
- 50:55Speaker 3: you get to be an adult, and it's like, I
- 50:57Speaker 3: believe that fucking kid. Yeah, but having that said about
- 51:03Speaker 3: it's like.
- 51:05Speaker 4: Really talking about me, but you do know me? Yes.
- 51:10Speaker 4: Mahomer wakes up, but he doesn't he and he says
- 51:13Speaker 4: he was dreaming about being the last day of school.
- 51:15Speaker 4: And Homer says, ye, well it is, and he cuts
- 51:16Speaker 4: to June twelfth. This episode, as you record this will
- 51:20Speaker 4: be going out to the patrons on June twelfth. What
- 51:24Speaker 4: are the freaking odds that slide? Dan knows what he's doing,
- 51:27Speaker 4: I know, right, and this date the last day of
- 51:29Speaker 4: school in America was June twelfth in nineteen ninety two. Wow, yeah,
- 51:34Speaker 4: but look what are the other we're recordings on June eleventh.
- 51:36Speaker 4: This will go out in June twelfth, the same date
- 51:41Speaker 4: the universe man.
- 51:42Speaker 3: Loves this theory or four finger discounts.
- 51:44Speaker 4: Yeah, but he says, how do I know this is
- 51:46Speaker 4: a dream to? So Homer hits him over the head
- 51:47Speaker 4: of the paper, despite a pinch being the more traditional way.
- 51:50Speaker 4: Bart is then reading the Camp Krusty pamphlet over breakfast,
- 51:53Speaker 4: and Marjor reminds Homer of his promise when you're eighteen,
- 51:56Speaker 4: you're out the door. The other one, Lisa, says they're
- 51:58Speaker 4: going to see average, They're going to be able to
- 52:01Speaker 4: go to Camp Rusty, and she's gonna be one happy
- 52:02Speaker 4: camper at the risk of standing of fate, modesty or
- 52:06Speaker 4: whatever it was something like that. Anyway, she's bragging because
- 52:08Speaker 4: she knows she's gonna get higher than a see average.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Just remember when you see my report card. They got
- 52:13Speaker 1: this whole new grading system this year and now those DBAC.
- 52:16Speaker 6: Now listen, boy, we have an understanding, and you'd better
- 52:19Speaker 6: keep your end of it. I don't think i'd be
- 52:21Speaker 6: any kind of a father if you got DS and
- 52:23Speaker 6: I let you go to Camp Krusty, Dad son, If
- 52:27Speaker 6: you really want something in this life, you have to
- 52:29Speaker 6: work for it. Now quiet, they're about to announce the lottery.
- 52:32Speaker 3: Numbers seventeen thirty two, five eight forty seven.
- 52:40Speaker 4: We're now back at the school and the kids are
- 52:42Speaker 4: cleaning out their lockers. Despite the bins being right next
- 52:45Speaker 4: to them, they're still chucking all their shit all over
- 52:46Speaker 4: the floor. And then Bart opens up his lock and
- 52:49Speaker 4: it's thirty six twenty four to thirty six, a reference too.
- 52:53Speaker 3: Well, I'm guessing it's like a it's measurements.
- 52:56Speaker 4: This cover of numbers is a reference to the song
- 52:58Speaker 4: brick House by the Commodorees. The measurements are used in
- 53:01Speaker 4: the son to describe women whose measurements are thirty six
- 53:03Speaker 4: twenty four to thirty six as brick houses. She's a
- 53:06Speaker 4: brick house, Yeah, thirty six twenty four thirty six might
- 53:10Speaker 4: my day?
- 53:10Speaker 3: Yes, lend it all hangout? Yeah.
- 53:12Speaker 4: He opens his locker and inside we've got such like
- 53:14Speaker 4: an old potato experiment, a flute, an old sock well
- 53:17Speaker 4: that's being used for who knows, a crayon box, and
- 53:21Speaker 4: a sports footy shoe. And Jim Short said, I guess
- 53:24Speaker 4: I've just never been worn. Ye.
- 53:25Speaker 3: Did you keep a tidy locker? Nah?
- 53:28Speaker 4: I mean, you like to start the year by saying
- 53:30Speaker 4: it's going to be tidy, and you try and keep
- 53:31Speaker 4: it tidy by the end of it, just like chuck
- 53:32Speaker 4: a shit anyway, that's the same. Yeah, we always start
- 53:35Speaker 4: with the idea of we're going to keep the house clean,
- 53:38Speaker 4: and then once it's like the slightest bit dirty, ego,
- 53:40Speaker 4: what's the point, what's the point.
- 53:41Speaker 3: We're just going to come back anywhere. What's the point
- 53:43Speaker 3: in going out?
- 53:46Speaker 4: But then Miss Hoover she hands out the report cards
- 53:48Speaker 4: and I've got nothing left to say to you. You
- 53:50Speaker 4: don't mind, Let's just run out the clock. Spirit animal, right,
- 53:53Speaker 4: I mean I will missus Kate will always be my girl.
- 53:56Speaker 4: But you just can't help but imagine a night just
- 53:58Speaker 4: getting pissed with Miss Hoover, just bitching about things. Would
- 54:01Speaker 4: be so much fun. Oh god, she just has this.
- 54:03Speaker 4: I don't give a ship mentality. Who do you think
- 54:07Speaker 4: it would be more fun? I think miss Kay would
- 54:09Speaker 4: be more fun, Missus Kay miss Hoover for two different
- 54:11Speaker 4: reasons though.
- 54:12Speaker 3: Oh yeah, sometimes you just want to wallow in misery
- 54:17Speaker 3: and it feels good to do.
- 54:17Speaker 4: So, remember Miss Hoover. She looks at mister Bird's painting
- 54:20Speaker 4: he's mean or something.
- 54:21Speaker 3: He's mean but he's gonna die, but he'll die, so
- 54:23Speaker 3: I like it.
- 54:25Speaker 4: He's evil or whatever. Then Bart's waiting for missus k
- 54:28Speaker 4: to grade his books. First of all LIS plus plus
- 54:32Speaker 4: four conduct conduct. Yeah, and then she doesn't conduct herself
- 54:35Speaker 4: very well? Does she know?
- 54:36Speaker 3: But yeah, Miss Hoover again just realizes that everyone needs
- 54:39Speaker 3: a blotch on their permanent records. Get over much like
- 54:43Speaker 3: a pell guy.
- 54:43Speaker 4: Yeah, But now Bart's waiting for missus Kate gread his
- 54:46Speaker 4: books or great his report cards? Sorry, and some of
- 54:49Speaker 4: his textbooks are still in pristine called his some still
- 54:51Speaker 4: in the visional Rabbit, Julie noted, and he tries to
- 54:54Speaker 4: sort of I see like an angel and angel never
- 54:56Speaker 4: flowing solow forget it, shot pants or whatever.
- 55:00Speaker 3: Calling someone short pans is just a great slur. It's
- 55:04Speaker 3: a good burn.
- 55:05Speaker 4: He says, I need to get a sea average, have
- 55:06Speaker 4: a D and somewheer. I'm like, oh, what a bit,
- 55:10Speaker 4: But that's her way of getting back in him for
- 55:12Speaker 4: being a shithead all year, absolutely life for summer. And
- 55:16Speaker 4: then it's the three pm countdown the teacher's room. Did
- 55:18Speaker 4: you see Willy spikes the drink. That's right, Yeah, spikes
- 55:22Speaker 4: the punch before they before they look at what they're
- 55:24Speaker 4: looking away, like that.
- 55:25Speaker 3: Whole five four three to one thing with the various.
- 55:28Speaker 4: In the bus windows in the nurses office. Then we
- 55:31Speaker 4: just don't talk. Yes the key. The kids all scream
- 55:34Speaker 4: and leave there all excited. The teacher explains that the
- 55:35Speaker 4: World War II scene as we're talking about earlier.
- 55:38Speaker 2: Wait a minute, you didn't learn how well worked you
- 55:41Speaker 2: end it?
- 55:43Speaker 3: We won.
- 55:49Speaker 4: The Skinner's looking out the window at all the carnage, and
- 55:51Speaker 4: he's glad there's another year over, another year well done.
- 55:54Speaker 4: He has really describe the talt's good and proper because
- 55:56Speaker 4: he wants some sparkling. When he gets back, he puts
- 55:58Speaker 4: on his sonnies and walks off, and I'm like, I
- 56:00Speaker 4: want to know what summer as dorky as Skinner is
- 56:03Speaker 4: in his earlier seasons, when he puts glasses on, he
- 56:05Speaker 4: looks like a bit of about us. Oh yeah, I
- 56:07Speaker 4: mean we come to learn that he is a bit
- 56:09Speaker 4: of about us.
- 56:09Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 56:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:12Speaker 3: He's down in Miami.
- 56:14Speaker 4: You're doing something with mother. Oh he's taking Mother of
- 56:17Speaker 4: the Florida quite possibly. Yeah, but he's he calls him
- 56:21Speaker 4: a silk wearing buttercup that used to be the stick.
- 56:23Speaker 4: Back in the day, Skinner would say something, he'd walk
- 56:25Speaker 4: off and WILLI would call him a name. I was
- 56:27Speaker 4: then driving the bus home, is excited for three months
- 56:29Speaker 4: of Spaghettio's and daytime TV like sign me Up Brother
- 56:35Speaker 4: and these nothing.
- 56:36Speaker 1: But the.
- 56:39Speaker 4: Kids are then running around new down the bus and
- 56:41Speaker 4: there's just something about the last day of school, isn't
- 56:43Speaker 4: There's this scene in particular reminder with the last day
- 56:45Speaker 4: of school and kids are just running right and I've
- 56:47Speaker 4: seen that busk. Yeah, it's your plans of what we're
- 56:50Speaker 4: going to do over the summer. It's seeing who's going
- 56:51Speaker 4: to be your new classmates next year, new teacher, all
- 56:54Speaker 4: that kind of stuff.
- 56:55Speaker 3: That's the thing. It really is this wonderful transition, like
- 56:57Speaker 3: it's the end of something. You've got a wonderful break
- 57:00Speaker 3: ahead of you, which is just great. You're looking it's
- 57:03Speaker 3: so much fun and it feels like it goes on forever.
- 57:05Speaker 4: It really does. School some holidays feels like eight weeks
- 57:08Speaker 4: is a long time. Oh absolutely, yeah.
- 57:11Speaker 3: Yeah. But they also they're feeling like, I guess this
- 57:13Speaker 3: is really because how are you thinking about, Oh, wow,
- 57:17Speaker 3: what's it going to be like next year? You know,
- 57:18Speaker 3: as you were saying, you know, oh, these are the
- 57:20Speaker 3: kids I'm going to be sharing a class with. You know,
- 57:22Speaker 3: some of them are going to be familiar to you,
- 57:24Speaker 3: but there's going to be some new faces.
- 57:26Speaker 4: Oh she's in my class.
- 57:27Speaker 3: Is the process going to be different? You know? Am
- 57:30Speaker 3: I up to the challenge all that stuff?
- 57:31Speaker 4: Yeah? It's And then sometimes sometimes they put your best
- 57:35Speaker 4: mate in the other class and you're like, we'll never
- 57:36Speaker 4: be friends again. I know this is but.
- 57:41Speaker 3: I mean, do you remember your last day at school
- 57:45Speaker 3: primary school ever, as in like the last day of
- 57:48Speaker 3: high school?
- 57:48Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, I do. Yeah. It was just it was
- 57:52Speaker 4: a real weird feeling because you just sort of to think,
- 57:54Speaker 4: because you're old enough now by that point to go,
- 57:55Speaker 4: oh this is this is it? Yeah, it's now time
- 57:58Speaker 4: to be a big boy.
- 57:59Speaker 3: Yeah up to me.
- 58:00Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, that does thing. It's up to me to
- 58:02Speaker 4: make myself succeed. Now. I can't just come to school
- 58:03Speaker 4: and hang out my mates, because that's the thing you
- 58:05Speaker 4: miss from school. I think the one thing I took
- 58:07Speaker 4: for granted anyway, was just the idea of you're going
- 58:10Speaker 4: to see your mates every single day. Sure, you're guaranteed
- 58:12Speaker 4: to be seeing your friends every single day. And once
- 58:14Speaker 4: you finish school, you go, oh, we're now going to
- 58:16Speaker 4: arrange to see my friends a single day. And you
- 58:19Speaker 4: just lose touch. You really do, don't you. I found
- 58:21Speaker 4: out I'm thirty six now to Nicola the other day.
- 58:24Speaker 4: If I don't call my mates or missing maches, we
- 58:25Speaker 4: just never see each other. Oh god, yeah, Look, you've
- 58:27Speaker 4: got to make genuine effort.
- 58:29Speaker 3: Yeah, kind of sucks.
- 58:31Speaker 4: Kind of sucks. Yeah, and everyone has kids and they've
- 58:33Speaker 4: got no time. And you're saying one of my mates
- 58:35Speaker 4: the other day said, let's go, let's catch up, Like
- 58:37Speaker 4: I think I'm free at the end of June. I'm like,
- 58:40Speaker 4: how can it be six weeks? Oh, this is a
- 58:42Speaker 4: couple of weeks. I'm like, what do you mean you
- 58:43Speaker 4: don't have one hour spare the next six weeks? Like
- 58:46Speaker 4: it just feels like hanging out is an effort.
- 58:49Speaker 3: But yeah, just that last day of school, whether it's
- 58:51Speaker 3: your actual last day of school, like yeah or whatever.
- 58:54Speaker 3: But at the end of the school year, yeah, it
- 58:57Speaker 3: just was like, oh, tick that one off.
- 58:59Speaker 4: Oh you've got that youthful exuberance of like look at
- 59:02Speaker 4: what what comes there, particularly in Australia because Christmas time
- 59:05Speaker 4: as well. Of course Christmas is around the corner everyone.
- 59:07Speaker 4: Everyone's in a better mood at Christmas time as well,
- 59:10Speaker 4: So Australia.
- 59:11Speaker 3: Is doing things better. You know, we've got summer time
- 59:13Speaker 3: and Christmas time at the same time. It's chocolate and
- 59:16Speaker 3: your peanut butter. Yeah.
- 59:20Speaker 4: So back on the bus, Bart is changing the d's
- 59:22Speaker 4: to a pluses and Lisa moxim, She's like, do it
- 59:24Speaker 4: something plausible? At least they never going to buy this.
- 59:27Speaker 4: Then Bart's watching the Camp Krusty commercial and Crusty scene
- 59:30Speaker 4: is one week left to organize it. It's built on
- 59:33Speaker 4: an ancient Indian burial ground as archery, wallet making the
- 59:36Speaker 4: whole shebang, whatever he says. And there's a program of
- 59:39Speaker 4: diet and ridicule.
- 59:40Speaker 3: Which losing program of diet and ridicule.
- 59:42Speaker 4: Which gets results so good.
- 59:44Speaker 3: I love that.
- 59:50Speaker 4: And the best part is you'll spend your summer with me.
- 59:52Speaker 4: That's the that's the selling point. You're going to be
- 59:53Speaker 4: spending someone with Krusty, which he knows is a lie
- 59:55Speaker 4: as well, but he doesn't really sort of think about
- 59:58Speaker 4: it all too much. And then Bart show Homer his
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: card and Homer runs. Meanwhile, he was running over things
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: with a lom the roll escape and then he shows
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: the home. I love her as response, I don't really
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: think much of it, do you, boy? No, I don't.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: He's turn into bees much more easily.
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: You got greedy. I wouldn't believed the bee. But Hope
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: lets him go anyway, Good look, good dad. He just
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: wants the kids out of there as well.
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: Well, he's a bit self serving in that regard.
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: Now, the best father a boy could ever have, and
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: ask him to reach under the mold to get the
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: skate out. Yeah about it. So we come out from
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: commercial and Marge is packing Bart's bag. She asked about
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: the swim suits. Knee one's going to be swimming naked.
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: I really like Julie's delivery here, so he says on
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: the lines of what.
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: What do you mean?
- 1:00:41Speaker 4: You know you won't be doing that, you blithering fool.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: But some good jewelry line delivery.
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: Yes, he thinks the human body is a beautiful thing.
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: Homer walks in and asked if his back is getting harrier.
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: Then Lisa is at doctor Peppert's office and she's asking
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: for boosters for malaria, gem and measles and cephalitis Hanson's disease.
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: But unfortunately she's just got an advanced case of hypochondria.
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: What's the cure? Wobbi pop and then don't passionates me
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: me doctor. Then it's time for the last family dinner
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: for the next six weeks in March. They promise I
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: wouldn't cry, but she bursts out, and she says, you're
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: going to miss this then, but licks Homer's pickle, Well,
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: he says, that's my pickle. That's only your name. When
- 1:01:19Speaker 4: it licks it, Hoper drops it in the milk.
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: Check me, mate, He's always thinking two moves ahead that game.
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: Yeah, But now the time for the kids to leave.
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: And I just love this.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: Will see you when you get back from immage and
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: Hensman camp.
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: Spare me your euphemisms. It's that camp for Daddy's chummy
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: little secret.
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: You promised you wouldn't make a seed Such.
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: A little satisfied, isn't it. Margin Homer leaves a three
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: leave it bes of four, eat some more, and then
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: they are taking off and Barty don't go in my room.
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: Lisa says, if the pet's die, I don't replace them,
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: I'll know. I think they pause just long enough. Yet
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: Oh yeah, it's it's a good four or five seconds
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: are racing.
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: Well, you've got to be sure the kids are shot.
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: So they ripe at the camp and immediately as they're
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: going over the bridge of bridge collapses. Krusty's message to
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: them is on the television. You think there's a pan out,
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: so that reveals on the TV. So you know from
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: the get go this ain't going to go well.
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: It truly is the crustiest place on the earth.
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: It is. Indeed, Yeah, I do like mister Black. Is
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: the start of the show here, right, ha ha, how
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: do you like mister Black?
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: II? Kid, welcome to Camp Krusty. I'll see you in
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: a few weeks. Until then, I've turned things over to
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: my bestest buddy in the whole wide world, mister Black.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: I want you to treat mister Black with the same
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: respect you would give me. Now here's mister Black.
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: Mister Black, very down to business, just such a just
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: such a suit, yeah, and perfectly named. You're right, But
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: what do you enjoy about him? Well, I just love
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: the voice of the gag. I don't think he's a
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: bad guy. He's just in it for himself.
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: I don't think he'd go out of his way too
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: if it wasn't if he wasn't profiting from this, he
- 1:03:01Speaker 4: wouldn't be mean to the kids. But he's anything for
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: a buck kind of guy, and I can appreciate that.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: Yeah, well we're very much anything for a buck here
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: at the four Network. But also so it's such a
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: bit of a I don't know if you describe it
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: as a heel turn, but that moment that you've talked
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: about a little while ago, gentlemen to evil, It's like,
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: I didn't know you had this in your programming, buddy.
- 1:03:24Speaker 4: I just think.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: I just thought you were a nine to five punch
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: clock kind of guy. But no, you've actually got an
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: evil plan.
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: Well, at first, the thing was with mister Black. The
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: thing is, I at first think that he is a
- 1:03:37Speaker 4: guy who's just trying to make the best of a
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: shitty situation. He's been put into this, right, he's he's
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: worked for the Crusty Cooperation. He's been plucked out of
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: Crusty Euroland. You've got to now run Camp Crust And
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: he's like, all right, we're going to make do with
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: what I can. So he's promising the kids the world.
- 1:03:49Speaker 4: Crusty be here soon.
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: Don't worry, guys.
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: He's doing what he can. And as it gets more
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: and more, he's like, know what, I'm liking this, Oh
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: sympathy for mister Black to evil sympathy at the start
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: where he's just like, I'm just trying to make the
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: best of a situation here. I've got to ship. They've
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: plucked me out and they put me here. Well, obviously
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: it blew up, but you know they put me here.
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: Maybe it's a punishment for your crush land blowing up.
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: Who knows. Maybe, But he has to now run this
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: show doing the best he can, and as he gets
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: under you realizes it's actually pretty easy just eating but
- 1:04:17Speaker 4: by a fire and drinking, Brandy.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: I've got to hit all these KPIs. Yeah, you know,
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: I've got to convince these kids that christ is going
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: to be here. Okay, I'll drag this drunk off the street. Yeah,
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: all this kind of business. A bit of an unsung hero,
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: you might be right, certainly, Yeah, an MVP of this episode.
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: But yeah, he's someone you want on your team, mister Black.
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: Except when he's like, I thought you said you brought
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: their spirits. We did you brought nothing. Four figure discount

- 1:05:18Speaker 4: now the three bullies, Kennie, Dolph and Jimbo. And we've
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: never seen Nelson at Cap Crusty.
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: I was curious about this. I just thinking he might
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: emerge as the big bad. But no, just know Nelson
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: this episode.
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: My theory is that he couldn't afford to go. That's
- 1:05:31Speaker 4: the app that is very logical of you. So then
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: Homer joins Marge in the shower here. I like that.
- 1:05:35Speaker 4: MARGIN wasn't expecting him to like, oh, I'll be out
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: in a minute. No, No, I'm told, Oh, oh, so
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: things are going to be going much better at the
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: Simpson's household. Kenny then shows the kids the cabin you
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: don't like a tars that is so good, a great
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: way of getting a swear with into the Simpsons, but
- 1:05:50Speaker 4: actually saying the swear word, and it's more Russic than
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: Lisa expected. It got a really good musicqu here from
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: our man Alf Lauson as well.
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: Of course, it's.
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: Clearly shit's not good here. It's it's like spooky Halloween,
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: its horror music. And Bart sees the seal of approval,
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: which makes him think, don't worry, it's going to be fine.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: He believes in crust Bart believes in Krusty. And if
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: Bart doesn't, that's the thing. If he gets to the
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: point where Bart no longer believes in Crusty, you know
- 1:06:12Speaker 4: it must be bad things have gone south because he's
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: the only one who's like Rusty. He's going to be coming,
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: CRUs He's going to be coming, and he's one. Eventually snaps,
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: but he sees the seal of approvals as Crusty would
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: never do this if he didn't approve of it, and
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: it says cuts to Crusty approving all this day.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: All the terble stuff. I love the one I think
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: was the doll that had the spring just out of it,
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: coming out of it, yeah, on the.
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: Knife or whatever. Yes, Then we have him leaving for
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: wimbled it's or whatever I'm going to leave for. I
- 1:06:33Speaker 4: think it was a Wimbledon, not Wimbledon. I think it's
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: just Wimbledon. So maybe it's just one of those garage
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: garage human hold the kids and the roasting their pine
- 1:06:45Speaker 4: cones whilst Courney lights the fire with some fuel. And
- 1:06:48Speaker 4: then we get the Lisa the boat that it looks
- 1:06:50Speaker 4: very very dangerous, show this is safe. I ain't getting
- 1:06:53Speaker 4: any safer re animation that I enjoyed. That just that
- 1:06:57Speaker 4: that really rocky, you know, rapid water yeap.
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: Yeah. The sound design was fantastic as well. Yeah, it
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: just it seemed downright lethal.
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: Yes it did. It sounds like it looks like the
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: camp from Hell. Yeah, and this is about to step
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: in in and it collapses. Then we have Chief starving,
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: bear Weight loss Center, a few balls of pan dribbings.
- 1:07:16Speaker 4: I want some Crisco coming out of those pores, and
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: we're not living until this Christmas Ham gives us a
- 1:07:21Speaker 4: pull up.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: Christmas Ham that was probably the winner of that one.
- 1:07:24Speaker 4: It's a little this Christmas ham gives me a pup.
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: Then the kids are singing the crusty song, and it
- 1:07:33Speaker 4: just allowed for a montage of various shit going wrong
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: at the camps.
- 1:07:41Speaker 7: Shop. Snakele No you swings see we all never.
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: Faster from.
- 1:07:56Speaker 7: Your cold music. We all right?
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: And they're being served trusty brand imitation gruel, not in
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: regular gruel. No none out of ten orphans can't tell
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: the difference, as you were saying earlier than the bullies
- 1:08:36Speaker 4: and mister Black sitting by the fire at at dinner
- 1:08:38Speaker 4: table enjoying a feast, Yo.
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: Mister Black, another branding gentlemen.
- 1:08:43Speaker 4: Too evil, gentlemen to evil? I need you want to
- 1:08:47Speaker 4: say at least one more time you can hold the
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: hand up to it's evil, just rolling off your tongue.
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: It's that's the ultimate villain line, to evil.
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: I have a toast of evil. It's how we end
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: every episode of four Finger.
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: Just get's lost five pounds and he's growing new hair,
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: and he's this close to having a comb over, and
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: then they get into bed and.
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: Just get it on.
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: As you were saying, yeah, certainly, no, having a good time,
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: very sexy episode, Jimbo and Dolph then come to turn
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: the lights off early in the cabin because they're going
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: to make some tail, some tail over the other side
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: of the Like, I love that tail, and Lista is like,
- 1:09:18Speaker 4: but I think we're going to die. We're going to
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: die least I mean soon.
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: That's what I'm so do I.
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: Meanwhile, at Wimbledon, Krusty is eating strawberries and having a
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: great time and interfering youngly at it, just.
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: Being an ugly American at Wimbledon, annoying the queen who
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: he's sitting next to.
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: Wow, he's going to be knighted, of course, yeah, it
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: must be her guest apparently. But I do love that.
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: The most English payout of all time.
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: Ha ha.
- 1:09:46Speaker 4: Then Marge's writing a letter to the kids, and Homer's
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: now in the best shape he's ever been in. He's
- 1:09:52Speaker 4: doing push ups and she's made them some jelly bean
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: cookies and what does he say, like, strength? Doesn't one
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: all those all the motivational words. Yeah, and she's made
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: some jelly bean cookies. But unfortunately Kearney, you think the
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: kids are written the letter, but Keernie has written the
- 1:10:04Speaker 4: letter and he's eating all the cookies tubby mom the
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: cookie sucked. So Lasta writes her own letter and she
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: says the hikes have become grim death marches millhouse falls over.
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: He's been bitten by a snake? Is it? Deckenzie in workhouses,
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: workshouses making guccie wallets. Bar gets through though, believing that
- 1:10:20Speaker 4: Krusty is coming across. He is coming. Crusty is coming,
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: and she gives a letter to the horse right because
- 1:10:24Speaker 4: the communication has been cut off. This is a takeoff
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: of what we're saying earlier, The French Lieutenants Woman at
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: Meryl Street starring Meryl Streep and Jeremy's Iron Oh really
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: the bit of a Simpsons reference again there, Yeah, tie
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: in and she closed by saying save us, save us now,
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: and her parents are like, oh kids just common over here, Yes, yeah,
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: just overreacting when we got to pick them up. They
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: won't come home. We come back from actually before we
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: cut to commercial there, we cut back to the kids
- 1:10:51Speaker 4: and there's a storm. They're getting taken away what feels
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: like a tornado. Next week, next timer, I'm getting a job.
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: So now Homer and Marge they're out having a picnic
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: and Homers are like, yeah, we're gonna miss the fireworks.
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: We've got all the fireworks we need here. Fireworks can't
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: buy here. Nolan and Nicholas like, yeah, what's a big
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: deal blowing your fucking hand by Yeah, selling each other.
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: Sending fire in Australia is basically one big tinder box.
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: Yes, I think Australia, being say, such a hot country,
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: you wouldn't want fireworks being in the wrong hands. Yeah,
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: but mister Black has promised it is so good. I
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: always missed this line. I've promised you would treat in
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: lieu of dinner. That's right, I promise you, guys a
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: treat and lou of dinner. I'm like, holy shit, if
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: I have I never heard this larm before. And the
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: man who took the militanery and turned into a summer wonderland.
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: It is crusty the clown, which tends it to be Barney.
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: Yeah, in a very poor, crusty, crusty brain imitation outfit.
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: But crusty. You know, guys, he has laren gas and
- 1:11:48Speaker 4: a sore back, so he's not gonna be speaking or
- 1:11:50Speaker 4: doing anything. And even Ralph is like, something's up here.
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: He's funny. He's not half funny. Even Bart calls Barney,
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: calls himself country the clan I believe, and says he's
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: had enough, you know, rapid heartbeat from his crusty band vitamins,
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: his calculator had no seven or eight and his autobiography
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: was what.
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: Self serving with many glaring emissions.
- 1:12:09Speaker 4: But now he's cross the line. This is enough. We
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: want krusty and anything bardy, we want crunchy, and we
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: get there. You said you broke their spirits of the slap.
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: You broke nothing. You broke nothing.
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: And what is it to the It's what a bond
- 1:12:22Speaker 4: villain says to the something hyperfoil, hyperfoil to the hyperfoil.
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: Man.
- 1:12:30Speaker 4: So shit's going wrong now, it can't Rusty, it's not
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: going to be going good at all. But the kids,
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: the first thing they do is they help their brethren
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: and they let out the fat kids. That's really great,
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: it's actually good. What does he say, gorge yourself on.
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: The freedom bud Chunky Brothers by Chunky Brothers.
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: So good. Yeah, and Martin loves the gruel. Lisa starts
- 1:12:46Speaker 4: handing out the male quality gets his brownies, my favorite
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: of these, crandall insolent. Yes, Ralph gets he's a change
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: of underwear. Ralph's design here by the way, I know
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: what happened here with the animators. But Ralph has the
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: oddly shaped head in this scene. It looks like he
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: usually has a round head, like a melon. This is
- 1:13:05Speaker 4: almost like a watermelon on its side. It's like a oh,
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: like an opall. Almost looks like Gerald no Jerrefrom even
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: jeffrom handle. But it looks like I'm aware of the
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: show Arnold a button up. It looks like a button
- 1:13:17Speaker 4: nut pumpkin as opposed to a round pumpkin. Oh, okay,
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: that makes sense.
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: I'm probably more familiar with cartoon characters than I am
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: with actual vegetables. I'm aware of a button nut pumpkin,
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: and I'm aware of the shape of this head that
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: you're talking about.
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: Yes, but then raises camp Bart the flag you said
- 1:13:33Speaker 4: you're gonna do camp Freedom. No, No, this has more
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: z in to it, and we cut to Crusty. So
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: the gag here being that he was about to be knighted,
- 1:13:39Speaker 4: and now he's never going to be so crusty because
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: they interrupted him just before she officially dubs him a
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: knight and he races off. Homer and Marge now doing
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: yoga with Sir d D. Dimmer barrow Dad's yoga party.
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: Some of those lines, who shall we say, sounds more
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: than a little pooh he does. Indeed, I always love
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: the delivery of your neck is the It just sounds relaxing.
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: Oh yeah, just relax.
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: There ain't no party like this yoga party. It seems
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: very chilling.
- 1:14:11Speaker 4: Out margin Homer having a great time. They are relax
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: are doing yoga. Then que news story. Brouckman's there is
- 1:14:17Speaker 4: on the case I've been to. All these various wars.
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: Should be called Brockman hyperbole. But it's like Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq.
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: I don't I say, with no fear of exaggeration, these
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: camp gruss is a million times worse, my man.
- 1:14:33Speaker 4: They said the three councelers are missing and feared scared,
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: presumed scared. Then it's revealed here we're going to be
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: having a word with the ringleader. Please don't be the boy.
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: Be the boy, and it of course is the boy. Yeah,
- 1:14:47Speaker 4: his gut pops out, his hair falls down. Feel sorry
- 1:14:49Speaker 4: for the guy. He's making genuine eff and he's having
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: a great time. But Bart says, crap your hair? Can
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: you say that our network. Then Crusty arrives.
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: I have a shout out to Fox and it's.
- 1:15:00Speaker 4: And Crusty arrives on his helicopter and we get a
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: question here, did is it a true you attemped to suicide?
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: When you heard the news? I was like whoa oh?
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: And then the next one, are you and Princess died?
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: Just friends? I was like, oh princess woh yeah, that
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: one will never not hurt, right, Princess died. I remember
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: my mom was so sad when that happened, like she
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: just she loved Princess die my mom.
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: It really did a number on so many people, didn't.
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: I mean, it honestly felt like a dream.
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: I'm no fake, I'm the real Krusty. Oh yeah.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: Who played your daughter in the short lived SITCO President Clown?
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: I don't know her name, but she held a p
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: a liquor store. Last year I.
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: Would watch President Clown.
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: You can't remember her name, but she did rob a bank.
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: She had a po liquor store, a liquor store. Sorry, yeah,
- 1:15:45Speaker 4: then they they well, that's a bit of a shout
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: out to. It was a Dana Plato, who was the
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: daughter on Different Strokes. Yeah, yeah, because apparently, Yeah, she
- 1:15:54Speaker 4: sort of went by the wayside a little, she did, indeed, Yeah,
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: that's right, Yeah.
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: I think it was. I don't think it was cool
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: time for any of the kids on different strokes, Kids,
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: famous kids, man, look a Drew Barrybole. She's wit, but
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: she had a troubled youth. She certainly did.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: How could you, krusty? I never lend mine into an
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: inferior product.
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: They drove a dump trug full of money up to
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: my house.
- 1:16:20Speaker 6: I'm not made of stone.
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: One of your favorite quades of all time. We put
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: a dumb trunk of money to my house.
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: I'm stone.
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: Anytime anyone's to sell out on the stance, I just
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: love it.
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: And Bart explains how terrible it is a bear one
- 1:16:39Speaker 4: of the kids, Oh goddie's hat?
- 1:16:41Speaker 3: Was it a good hat? Oh?
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:16:42Speaker 7: Oh god.
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: So it takes them to the happiest two weeks and
- 1:16:47Speaker 4: the happiest place on earth, Tea South of the Border.
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: And I guess this was a fun out for this
- 1:16:54Speaker 4: for the story, right, Oh yeah, A nice way to
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: wrap things up. It's a happy ending. Ye, Crusty as
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: his reputation kind of restored, the kids have got a
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: good experience out of it. You know, something good came
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: out of something bad. They've got to have great times
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: with Krusty South of the Border.
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: I think it's a win win.
- 1:17:11Speaker 4: It probably would have been nice to have seen the
- 1:17:12Speaker 4: bullies getting their come up, and so I know they
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: run away in fear, but would have been nice to
- 1:17:15Speaker 4: have seen them like tied up to something or whatever.
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: That's true, but I think running away in fear is
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: enough of punishment for a bully.
- 1:17:20Speaker 4: Or making them eat the gruel or something. Oh yeah, anyway,
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: but yeah, Camp Krusty and iconic episode for many reasons.
- 1:17:28Speaker 4: Not the funniest one, but there are so many moments
- 1:17:30Speaker 4: in this and it's just super relatable.
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: Oh yeah, very satisfying episode.
- 1:17:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: I think it's a good way.
- 1:17:34Speaker 4: We've all been to a camp of some kind throughout
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: our lives, so we can think of what was like
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: being at camp, being at last day of school, being
- 1:17:41Speaker 4: a parent now with kids being out of the house,
- 1:17:42Speaker 4: that aspect that the story is now more relatable for me.
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: I think we've also all had shitty holiday experiences that
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: didn't live up to the hype. Yeah. Yeah, we've gone
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: to a resort or gone to any sort of location
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: of thought. This Holt is going to change my life,
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: Tendi dates, It's gonna come out with so many memories
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: and such fond recollection of the place and get there
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: is kind of this is a dump.
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: What's kind of like how I talked up that food
- 1:18:07Speaker 4: venue last week and last week's show to my friend
- 1:18:09Speaker 4: and he gets there and they forgot his food.
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: That's right, you're not friends anymore now, friends anymore?
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: Indeed?
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: Yes?
- 1:18:16Speaker 4: But yeah, so Cam Krusty. I was really looking forward
- 1:18:18Speaker 4: to go back and revisiting it because I had not
- 1:18:20Speaker 4: watched it for a long time, and a lot of
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: gags I would have known about it, I'd forgotten, just
- 1:18:25Speaker 4: forgotten about, Like I was saying, the I promise you
- 1:18:28Speaker 4: with something in lieu of dinner. There's little lines like this.
- 1:18:30Speaker 4: There's so many lines in the classic Simpsons that don't
- 1:18:34Speaker 4: get like, they don't highlight that it is there, and
- 1:18:36Speaker 4: if you don't listen, you miss them.
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: But that's that's the reason that these seasons of the
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: show and these episodes of the show have lingers. So,
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: I mean a lot of it's got to do with
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: the stuff that really stands out. Yeah, But overall, it's
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: just a cumulative effect. It's compounding interest of just gag
- 1:18:52Speaker 3: after gag, and it's like I didn't necessarily hear it
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: the first time. I'll get it the first time even
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: but it's like, oh, it's there, as the old linees,
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: you didn't notice it, but your brain did, and it
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: just yeah, so this is the reason you enjoy it.
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: It's like, oh, and then when you actually discover it
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: and it stands out, it's like, oh, I knew there
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: was a reason I like this episode, and plenty of
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: reasons to like campcrast it because there's a lot in there.
- 1:19:13Speaker 4: Indeed, now next month for Guy on Springfield, Uh huh?
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: Should I can give you the choice. It's Alliot's birthday
- 1:19:20Speaker 4: next month in July, right, so al it's gonna be
- 1:19:23Speaker 4: having a party. So should we have a theme of
- 1:19:26Speaker 4: party based episodes where there's a party involved? Or should
- 1:19:29Speaker 4: it be winter because it's now winter in Australia's whe's
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: some of for Americans winter for Australians.
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: Oh godd, So you're going to make me come across
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: like an absolute grump, like a screwge if I say,
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: screw that kid's birthday, let's do it winter? It feels
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: like there'd be more stuff in winter. I'm sure there
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: are great party episodes. Fact, I'm sure. Let's do the party.
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: I didn't say a word.
- 1:19:51Speaker 4: Then you just talked yourself around to it. Okay, we'll
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: be party.
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: Party.
- 1:19:54Speaker 4: She's like, I want you know what scratch that reverse it?
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: What do you think that party?
- 1:20:02Speaker 4: I just like watching the cogs in your head does
- 1:20:05Speaker 4: slowly move.
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: The rust is sort of falling off them. Party. So
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: we were a party?
- 1:20:12Speaker 4: Yeah, so I'll pick out Pete. I'll pick three episodes
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: that have a party involved in some way that can
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: be what the patrons can vote on for next month's
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: go on Springfield.
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: It doesn't even necessarily have to be central to the episode.
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: You'll just be yeah, thinking of what's it? The ones
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: there's a flying ice cube?
- 1:20:32Speaker 4: I know I put it there. That's that's that's the
- 1:20:34Speaker 4: ones of the part of it, not those dunts. The
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: ones the Barton when Waters leaning over his waste, that's
- 1:20:38Speaker 4: the war of the sentences where he goes the catfish.
- 1:20:41Speaker 4: Good episode.
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: All right, Well know we're not playing favorites here. We're
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: gonna name names and you know, plenty of parties and
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: the lovely listeners get to choose. We've already revisited a
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: Millhouse Divided with our man radio Mike, where mill House's
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: parents they have the dictionary, have the pictionary?
- 1:20:59Speaker 4: Yeah, dignity, I recognize negnity. But I'll find a few
- 1:21:03Speaker 4: parties in the Simpsons and that can be what you
- 1:21:05Speaker 4: guys can vote on for next month's Guy on Springfield review.
- 1:21:08Speaker 4: If you want to vote on that, you're going to
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: be a support of ours on Patreon, so link for
- 1:21:12Speaker 4: that in description of this podcast. We shall be returning
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: next week with a season twenty review, regular programming as
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: per usual, and we've been doing a mail bag in
- 1:21:20Speaker 4: a couple of weeks as well. But for now, mister Davis,
- 1:21:23Speaker 4: this has been our review of Cam Krusty. Thank you
- 1:21:25Speaker 4: so much, guys for all of you support and you
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: find words. For those incredible listeners out there, just.
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: Drive a dumb truck of money up to our houses.
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: We're not made of stone.
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: S
