- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Hey, it's Ben here, and September has zipped by, so
- 0:09Speaker 2: we wanted to recap things from this month on the pod,
- 0:12Speaker 2: in case you missed anything. Ashley and I caught up
- 0:15Speaker 2: with Bachelor Nation alum Jill Chin.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Well, Jill, we really wanted to get you on here
- 0:21Speaker 3: because you just dropped a massive bomb on us because
- 0:25Speaker 3: the last time we saw you on TV was about
- 0:29Speaker 3: a year ago now on Paradise, leaving your second season
- 0:33Speaker 3: of Paradise, and you just... had everybody's hearts breaking. You
- 0:38Speaker 3: were representing so many single girls out there when you
- 0:42Speaker 3: were sobbing, just like, why is it never me? Why
- 0:45Speaker 3: can't I find the one person who's going to choose me? Okay,
- 0:48Speaker 3: Meredith Gray. So soon, soon after that paradise departure, it
- 0:57Speaker 3: seems like you found love in real life and then
- 0:59Speaker 3: you kept it a secret for a year.
- 1:02Speaker 4: I did.
- 1:03Speaker 5: Yeah. Tell us everything. Okay. So after paradise, I was like, well,
- 1:09Speaker 5: I guess I have to go on the apps. Like
- 1:11Speaker 5: that sucks. So I was on the apps and I
- 1:14Speaker 5: was like dating, you know, I was like going on dates.
- 1:16Speaker 5: I was really making a, I was, I gave it
- 1:19Speaker 5: a good college try.
- 1:20Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:22Speaker 5: And it's just a hellscape on there. Genuinely. Like I
- 1:26Speaker 5: try trying to talk to people is like, I'm like,
- 1:30Speaker 5: do you even want to be on here? I don't know.
- 1:32Speaker 2: It was, it was so bad. I, it's been so
- 1:35Speaker 2: long for me, but I hear, cause it used to
- 1:38Speaker 2: be fairly fun to be on those apps because people
- 1:41Speaker 2: were interested. You go on dates and, It was kind
- 1:44Speaker 2: of the place that you could have a first date
- 1:45Speaker 2: and move on. But I've heard now it's just pretty
- 1:47Speaker 2: much a hookup app. Did you get that feeling?
- 1:49Speaker 5: Ooh, no, actually I didn't get that feeling. I think
- 1:53Speaker 5: maybe because I'm just like a little older. Um, so,
- 1:58Speaker 5: but it was very much like, you know, you'd match
- 2:00Speaker 5: with somebody and then you'd like, wait to see if
- 2:02Speaker 5: they would respond to you. And then, you know, you're
- 2:06Speaker 5: just like, Hey, you know, you send a wave emoji
- 2:08Speaker 5: or a high or whatever, and you get nothing in return. Um,
- 2:12Speaker 5: so yeah, Yeah, it was just bad. And then you're
- 2:15Speaker 5: like the people that they give you, because now it's
- 2:17Speaker 5: like there's marketing involved, too.
- 2:18Speaker 7: So it's like you.
- 2:20Speaker 5: Got to pay three ninety nine for the hot people.
- 2:22Speaker 5: You know, there's like I'm like, where are the hot people?
- 2:24Speaker 5: I swear to God.
- 2:26Speaker 4: No, no. I swear to God.
- 2:29Speaker 3: One time I was like, you know what?
- 2:31Speaker 5: I'll pay the 20 bucks this month to see some
- 2:33Speaker 5: see some nice people. And lo and behold, there are
- 2:37Speaker 5: all the hot people behind the paywall.
- 2:39Speaker 2: September was a big month in the ongoing Clayton Eckerd
- 2:43Speaker 2: false paternity case. This month, Laura Owens pleaded guilty to
- 2:48Speaker 2: specific charges. Ashley sat down with attorney Ryan Kearns to
- 2:52Speaker 2: break down more information about the case.
- 2:55Speaker 8: We could spend five days talking about, you know, the
- 2:58Speaker 8: details of this case. It's pretty remarkable how we got from,
- 3:02Speaker 8: you know, this sort of one-night hookup. You know, there's
- 3:06Speaker 8: just oral sex. There's no penetrative sex to... you know,
- 3:10Speaker 8: her sending messages, I want to date you. He breaks
- 3:12Speaker 8: it off. Once it becomes clear, he doesn't want to
- 3:15Speaker 8: date her anymore. She then leverages this idea of a pregnancy, right?
- 3:20Speaker 8: Sends a pregnant, positive pregnancy test, goes to this extreme,
- 3:24Speaker 8: extreme lengths, you know, doctoring images. And it gets really,
- 3:28Speaker 8: we'll get into those details a little bit later, but
- 3:31Speaker 8: really gets into some incredible lengths that she goes to
- 3:35Speaker 8: to try to prove that she's pregnant. And essentially just
- 3:38Speaker 8: trying to say, please stay with me or give me
- 3:40Speaker 8: a chance and I'll, and I'll terminate the baby. Or
- 3:43Speaker 8: if you don't, then I won't. I mean, it goes
- 3:46Speaker 8: so far and this is, this is where I knew
- 3:48Speaker 8: things had gone off the rails. She had sent a,
- 3:50Speaker 8: a dating contract, a dating relationship contract to literally it said,
- 3:59Speaker 8: if you give date me for one week and good
- 4:04Speaker 8: faith and give us a real chance going forward, then
- 4:08Speaker 8: I'll agree to terminate the baby. It is a, I've
- 4:12Speaker 8: never seen anything like it. It's clearly not something that's
- 4:14Speaker 8: drafted by a lawyer, no lawyer would ever in their
- 4:16Speaker 8: right mind put something like that together. But I mean,
- 4:19Speaker 8: just think about how, there's red flags and there's like
- 4:23Speaker 8: the ship has sailed. I mean, that was, once I
- 4:27Speaker 8: saw that, I knew that we were in for the
- 4:29Speaker 8: long haul.
- 4:30Speaker 2: In big Bachelor Nation news, former Bachelor, Peter Weber. announced
- 4:35Speaker 2: he and his girlfriend were expecting, as well as Blake
- 4:39Speaker 2: Hortsman and his wife, Giannina, who were expecting their second baby.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Congrats to all of them. Lauren and I continued to
- 4:48Speaker 2: break down the Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip.
- 4:52Speaker 9: Lauren, do you poop when you travel?
- 4:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I do. I honestly have great bowel movements, gotta
- 4:57Speaker 3: be honest.
- 4:57Speaker 10: What about you?
- 4:59Speaker 2: I struggle, so I bring some probiotics with me.
- 5:04Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Cause it can get, it can get ugly and sometimes
- 5:07Speaker 2: it can't like, it just kind of like, it's a
- 5:09Speaker 2: guessing game for me. The reason I ask is because
- 5:12Speaker 2: obviously Vicky is struggling. And so she decides to not
- 5:17Speaker 2: only take two laxatives, also mix that with some fiber.
- 5:21Speaker 2: And we kind of come into this beach day. You know,
- 5:25Speaker 2: when I think about a beach day with a bunch
- 5:27Speaker 2: of women, Lauren, it's like, Hey, This is where you
- 5:30Speaker 2: kind of like get sexy, showing off the bods, laying out,
- 5:34Speaker 2: getting some sun. Probably like, you know, a lot of
- 5:37Speaker 2: these women are single, so they're going to be flirting.
- 5:40Speaker 2: And Vicky just can't stop pooping herself.
- 5:43Speaker 4: Yeah, this wasn't a very sexy time.
- 5:46Speaker 2: On The Most Dramatic Book Club, producer Heather got the
- 5:50Speaker 2: Goldens together to review one of the most controversial books
- 5:53Speaker 2: in Bachelor Nation, former Bachelor producer Julie LaPlaca's book.
- 5:59Speaker 11: Let's talk, though, about the part about her possibly being
- 6:02Speaker 11: the Bachelorette that's thrown in there.
- 6:03Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 6:05Speaker 4: Let's talk about it because I thought.
- 6:09Speaker 11: I have a conspiracy theory about all of it. So.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Did that really... Was that really said? Is that what
- 6:17Speaker 4: you're questioning?
- 6:18Speaker 11: Well, first of all, it has to be real because
- 6:19Speaker 11: she did run this book by ABC and they approved it.
- 6:22Speaker 4: And there's a lot of Mike Fleiss comments in it.
- 6:24Speaker 4: So direct quotes. So it had to have happened.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Yep.
- 6:28Speaker 5: Um.
- 6:29Speaker 11: Now, it's hinted at from the very beginning. She gets
- 6:35Speaker 11: bumped up into this role, and immediately somebody is saying
- 6:39Speaker 11: to her.
- 6:39Speaker 4: Well, we hope you don't fall in love with Pilot Pete.
- 6:42Speaker 4: It was weird, wasn't it?
- 6:43Speaker 9: Yeah, the seed was planted.
- 6:44Speaker 6: I saw that.
- 6:45Speaker 4: So the seed's planted, right? So somebody else is saying
- 6:48Speaker 4: it to her right away. You wouldn't be stupid enough
- 6:49Speaker 4: to fall in love with him. You wouldn't be stupid
- 6:51Speaker 4: enough to do that.
- 6:52Speaker 11: Let me tell you, I've, never had anybody say that
- 6:57Speaker 11: to me.
- 6:58Speaker 4: So the seeds planted, right?
- 7:00Speaker 11: So then they start filming the season and she keeps
- 7:02Speaker 11: asking herself throughout this whole time, am I falling for him?
- 7:06Speaker 4: Do I like him? Is something happening? She keeps asking herself.
- 7:09Speaker 4: She's not sure. And then the family starts saying they're
- 7:13Speaker 4: so cute. Well, guess what?
- 7:15Speaker 11: Anytime we get some elderly people together and there's cute
- 7:20Speaker 11: young people, everybody says that.
- 7:22Speaker 4: I don't hold a whole lot of weight.
- 7:24Speaker 11: It's very true.
- 7:24Speaker 4: I don't hold a lot of weight in that.
- 7:26Speaker 11: We all say it.
- 7:27Speaker 4: Everybody says it.
- 7:28Speaker 11: I've been told that me and the guy at the
- 7:30Speaker 11: grocery store would be cute together.
- 7:32Speaker 9: Whatever.
- 7:32Speaker 4: It's like, it's what happens. Wait, if you don't want them,
- 7:35Speaker 4: can I have them?
- 7:36Speaker 5: Sure.
- 7:37Speaker 10: Okay.
- 7:37Speaker 6: But then.
- 7:39Speaker 11: They talk about the chatter online starts.
- 7:41Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 7:42Speaker 4: Because the picture from New Year's Eve. Because the picture
- 7:44Speaker 4: from New Year's Eve.
- 7:45Speaker 11: And I want to get into this because this is
- 7:47Speaker 11: where my conspiracy theory starts to run wild is that, yes,
- 7:53Speaker 11: we know that Bachelor Nation fans deep dive and they come.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Up with things.
- 7:57Speaker 6: Yes, they do.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Their opinions.
- 7:59Speaker 11: I think that this show is very heavily ingrained in
- 8:04Speaker 11: the narration of what comes out into the press. she
- 8:07Speaker 11: goes into great detail about how happy she felt and accomplished.
- 8:12Speaker 4: She fell when she made it onto page six of
- 8:16Speaker 4: all places.
- 8:17Speaker 11: She is featured and she talks about in every major
- 8:21Speaker 11: news article. So we're not talking just about, but we're
- 8:24Speaker 11: not just talking about Reddit threads. And that's where the
- 8:26Speaker 11: bachelor fans live. But who has the connections to the
- 8:31Speaker 11: press outlets, the PR for the show. So to me,
- 8:36Speaker 11: It's a planted story to garner up press. Do I
- 8:41Speaker 11: think that they ever had intention to make her the Bachelorette?
- 8:45Speaker 4: Absolutely not.
- 8:48Speaker 11: Do I think that they dangled the carrot?
- 8:50Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Former Bachelor host Chris Harrison dropped the trailer to his
- 9:05Speaker 2: upcoming reality dating show, The Vow.
- 9:08Speaker 9: Now the trailer's out. We know a little bit more.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Before I share any of my opinions, let's start with Trista.
- 9:17Speaker 2: What was your feelings, emotions, thoughts seeing the trailer get dropped?
- 9:23Speaker 10: First of all, I thought it was hysterical that he
- 9:27Speaker 10: dropped was throwing around rose petals and then almost stepped
- 9:31Speaker 10: on the rose. I mean, I actually thought it was hysterical.
- 9:39Speaker 10: And hey, you know, it's very obvious, the meaning of that.
- 9:45Speaker 9: Goodness gracious, it's obvious.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Ashley and I caught up with Bachelor Nation alum Sally Carson.
- 9:54Speaker 2: We talked about her transition from Bachelor to Bravo's Southern
- 9:58Speaker 2: Charm and about her new podcast. with Lala Kent.
- 10:02Speaker 12: I had a terrible time on The Bachelor.
- 10:04Speaker 4: You had a terrible time on Bachelor?
- 10:05Speaker 12: Yes.
- 10:06Speaker 3: I am always praising Bachelor production.
- 10:10Speaker 8: Really?
- 10:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:11Speaker 9: What made it a terrible time?
- 10:13Speaker 12: I mean, my terrible time was like they just wouldn't
- 10:16Speaker 12: let me do anything like I was like I want
- 10:19Speaker 12: to leave and they were like you can't you have
- 10:21Speaker 12: to break up with your boyfriend first I was like
- 10:22Speaker 12: I don't even know who the bachelor is right now.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Tell us a little bit about that so you guys
- 10:27Speaker 3: signed up for Clayton season not knowing who the bachelor
- 10:30Speaker 3: was going to be and you were in that hotel
- 10:32Speaker 3: not knowing who.
- 10:32Speaker 12: Yeah we didn't know and then we find out like
- 10:36Speaker 12: last minute and I was like fine with it like
- 10:38Speaker 12: I I think highly of Clayton but I mean, I just,
- 10:42Speaker 12: we didn't know until we got there. And then they
- 10:44Speaker 12: were like, you have to break up with your boyfriend.
- 10:45Speaker 12: I was like, my boyfriend?
- 10:47Speaker 3: Why were you like with a boyfriend and in a
- 10:50Speaker 3: hotel waiting to meet The Bachelor?
- 10:52Speaker 12: No, like they were calling Clayton my boyfriend.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Oh, you have to go, even though you had never
- 10:57Speaker 3: met him.
- 10:57Speaker 12: Even though I had never met him. They were like,
- 11:00Speaker 12: if you want to leave, you have to go say
- 11:01Speaker 12: bye to Clayton. They just wanted it for camera.
- 11:03Speaker 2: There is never a month that goes by without some
- 11:06Speaker 2: headlines about Taylor Frankie Paul. And September was no different.
- 11:11Speaker 3: She won't be coming back as of now because she
- 11:15Speaker 3: has no desire to move forward with Mormon Wives after
- 11:20Speaker 3: shocking cast exit. She's referring to the fact that her co-star,
- 11:26Speaker 3: Michaela Matthews, announced her exit from Mormon Wives earlier this
- 11:30Speaker 3: week and that her other cast members, Macy and Layla,
- 11:34Speaker 3: have both showed interest in possibly leaving the show. And
- 11:40Speaker 3: then we all know that Whitney announced that this past
- 11:44Speaker 3: season that aired just a week or two ago would
- 11:46Speaker 3: be her last. So hello, Ben. How are you feeling
- 11:53Speaker 3: about this?
- 11:57Speaker 9: Hi, Ashley.
- 12:00Speaker 2: You know, this is interesting.
- 12:01Speaker 9: I think the question is this.
- 12:04Speaker 2: We've just been talking about if The Secret Lives of
- 12:07Speaker 2: Mormon Wise will continue with the departure of so many
- 12:11Speaker 2: and I guess the rumored departure of so many of
- 12:14Speaker 2: their main cast members. And if you read through the
- 12:18Speaker 2: tea leaves, we kind of assumed it was because of
- 12:21Speaker 2: the controversy surrounding Taylor Frank Paul.
- 12:25Speaker 9: On the show. My big question is, do you think
- 12:30Speaker 9: this brings some of those people back in?
- 12:33Speaker 4: I guess that is a good question.
- 12:34Speaker 3: She's saying she's leaving because they're leaving, but does that
- 12:37Speaker 3: mean now that if she leaves that they're staying? Because
- 12:41Speaker 3: if we all leave, then the show's basically over.
- 12:44Speaker 2: And speaking of the secret lives of Mormon wives, Ashley
- 12:48Speaker 2: and I caught up with Latia Garr, who recently been
- 12:51Speaker 2: spotted on the reality show. We talked about life and
- 12:54Speaker 2: her cousin being the winner of the Netflix show, Let's
- 12:58Speaker 2: Marry Harry. You were just recently on Secret Lives of
- 13:01Speaker 2: Mormon Wives. That's been making the headlines recently. What's your
- 13:05Speaker 2: take on everything kind of surrounding that show right now?
- 13:09Speaker 4: Oh, so we're going to just start with the easy questions.
- 13:12Speaker 9: Yeah, we're just going to dive in easy. You think
- 13:13Speaker 9: those are easy? Okay.
- 13:14Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah. No, I think it's so sad what's happening
- 13:18Speaker 6: over there. It seems like they are trying to right
- 13:22Speaker 6: the ship, some of them, and I'm.
- 13:26Speaker 4: Supportive of.
- 13:28Speaker 6: The children.
- 13:29Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 13:30Speaker 6: Which feels like a polarizing thing to say, but that's
- 13:34Speaker 6: how I feel. I hope that everyone gets healthy soon
- 13:38Speaker 6: and a minimum for the kids. I don't know.
- 13:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:43Speaker 6: It's crazy over there. It's, and I'm telling you like
- 13:46Speaker 6: more stuff happens off of that show than on it.
- 13:49Speaker 6: So I, if you think that the show is crazy,
- 13:53Speaker 6: real life is crazier.
- 13:55Speaker 2: And I wrapped up the month catching up with Allie,
- 13:57Speaker 2: Joe Hinks and Sam McKinney who met after bachelor in
- 14:01Speaker 2: paradise and have been going strong ever since the paradise reunion.
- 14:06Speaker 2: And I did that for I heart and, It was awesome.
- 14:09Speaker 2: And I got to meet all the couples that were
- 14:10Speaker 2: together and a lot of the contestants that were, you know,
- 14:13Speaker 2: were on that season, but you two weren't there. And
- 14:17Speaker 2: I just, I'm kind of, I guess I am confused
- 14:20Speaker 2: by that from a show standpoint of you want to
- 14:23Speaker 2: recognize the love that comes from the show. And I
- 14:27Speaker 2: think there was a pretty clear path in my mind
- 14:29Speaker 2: on how they could have told your story as a
- 14:32Speaker 2: success story from paradise and made it make sense to
- 14:35Speaker 2: the viewer. But it's like, they just kind of said, no,
- 14:38Speaker 2: Not our thing. Sam, you mentioned that you'd kind of
- 14:41Speaker 2: try to get to the bottom of it.
- 14:45Speaker 9: But the Paradise.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Reunion is even more confusing to me on why you
- 14:48Speaker 2: weren't there.
- 14:49Speaker 7: Yeah, I think once again, this kind of goes back to.
- 14:56Speaker 7: What I know, it's really funny. So, you know, whenever
- 14:59Speaker 7: they give you the list of names of or they
- 15:01Speaker 7: want you to make a list of names of girls
- 15:03Speaker 7: you want to see on the.
- 15:04Speaker 9: Beach before you get there.
- 15:06Speaker 7: Me being the bad guy from The Bachelorette, the last
- 15:09Speaker 7: thing I wanted to do was write multiple girls names
- 15:12Speaker 7: down because what I knew was going to happen is
- 15:14Speaker 7: that I was going to walk down and the second
- 15:17Speaker 7: or third pick that your second or third girl that
- 15:19Speaker 7: I put on my list was going to be there.
- 15:21Speaker 7: I'd have a connection.
- 15:22Speaker 9: She would walk down.
- 15:23Speaker 7: And then next thing you know, I'd look like an
- 15:25Speaker 7: asshole again because I would leave that person for Allie.
- 15:30Speaker 7: So I'll never forget Wells. I'll never forget Wells pulling
- 15:35Speaker 7: me to the side at the bar. And he was like, hey,
- 15:39Speaker 7: I need to do we need to do whatever we
- 15:40Speaker 7: can to keep you here. So Spencer and Jess were
- 15:44Speaker 7: obviously they.
- 15:45Speaker 9: Were a couple.
- 15:46Speaker 7: And I kind of knew after my first date with Jess,
- 15:50Speaker 7: I think her and I were just not a fit.
- 15:54Speaker 7: I think that's really what I told her between Spencer
- 15:58Speaker 7: and I. I was like, listen, I think Spencer is
- 16:00Speaker 7: a great guy. I think all three of us have
- 16:03Speaker 7: very similar characteristics, but we could not be more polar opposite.
- 16:09Speaker 7: And it's not a bad thing. It's not about choosing
- 16:11Speaker 7: the better guy. It's just about choosing the guy that's
- 16:14Speaker 7: a better fit for you. And whenever that happened, that
- 16:18Speaker 7: happened pretty early on in the rose ceremony or in
- 16:21Speaker 7: the cocktail party before. And Wells pulled me to the
- 16:24Speaker 7: side and he was like, hey, we got to do
- 16:25Speaker 7: everything we can to keep you here. And the only
- 16:27Speaker 7: girl at that time that really wasn't taken was Alex.
- 16:30Speaker 7: Alex knew that if Allie Jo walked on the beach,
- 16:34Speaker 7: she was, I was going to leave her.
- 16:36Speaker 9: There was no doubt about that.
- 16:37Speaker 10: Alex even knew that's who I wanted to meet.
- 16:39Speaker 6: So she knew she'd be going home.
- 16:42Speaker 9: So I think it was.
- 16:44Speaker 7: I think there was probably like 20 minutes left of
- 16:48Speaker 7: the cocktail party. And, you know, I go and talk
- 16:52Speaker 7: to Alex and I feel like an ass because I've
- 16:54Speaker 7: been there for 24 hours and all of my time
- 16:57Speaker 7: has been based around the girl that I took a
- 16:59Speaker 7: date out, you know, or I took out on a
- 17:00Speaker 7: date was Jess. And then here, 20 minutes later, they're like, Sam,
- 17:04Speaker 7: we want to keep you here. Let's go talk to
