- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello, beautiful beans, and welcome to This is episode eight
- 0:18Speaker 1: of the ten Day twenty twenty five Life Reset. So
- 0:23Speaker 1: this short and sweet episode is going to be around
- 0:27Speaker 1: nailing your consistency. And if you are somebody that has
- 0:32Speaker 1: purchased my brain.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Journal, little what do you call it? Little shameless.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Would to kind of think of the word, but I'm
- 0:43Speaker 1: just like a shameless plug for my brain Journal. Basically,
- 0:47Speaker 1: it's like a journal that is really geared towards not
- 0:51Speaker 1: only getting you in the zone, but helping with productivity
- 0:53Speaker 1: and focus and all of the above the way that
- 0:55Speaker 1: I just love how I've set it out. But anyway,
- 0:58Speaker 1: in this Brain Journal, I speak about this concept which
- 1:01Speaker 1: I'm going to talk to you about now.
- 1:02Speaker 2: If you have the brain Journal, great, you can.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Do it without the Brain Journal. So if you don't
- 1:06Speaker 1: want to buy it, don't, you can still do it.
- 1:09Speaker 1: This is the idea of no two days off in
- 1:13Speaker 1: a row. That is one if for me, I've found
- 1:16Speaker 1: to be one of the best ways to stay consistent. Okay,
- 1:20Speaker 1: when you are trying to stay consistent, I think a
- 1:23Speaker 1: lot of us think consistency means every single day. Sure,
- 1:29Speaker 1: but for a lot of us, one of the main
- 1:30Speaker 1: problems is that we think I've got to be perfect
- 1:35Speaker 1: and consistent, and that's what consistency is. So I've got
- 1:37Speaker 1: to eat a certain way or not do a certain thing,
- 1:39Speaker 1: or I've got to get up at a certain time, and.
- 1:41Speaker 2: It's got to be consistent.
- 1:42Speaker 1: If I fall off the bandwagon, I have to start again,
- 1:45Speaker 1: all right. So we'll start, will go hard, and then
- 1:49Speaker 1: we'll start again. Or another mistake that we'll make is
- 1:51Speaker 1: we think, oh, I've got to do this every single day.
- 1:55Speaker 1: So I've got this holiday coming up, and I've got
- 1:57Speaker 1: this weekend away, and I've also i've.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Got this really early morning meeting.
- 2:01Speaker 1: So because I can't do it every single day, I'm
- 2:03Speaker 1: not going to start yet. Once it's calm down, then
- 2:07Speaker 1: I'm going to start. But what we failed to realize
- 2:10Speaker 1: we say, oh, December is a really busy time, and
- 2:12Speaker 1: then January here, so I'm my god, start of the year,
- 2:14Speaker 1: it's really hectic, its whatever, and then it's around eas
- 2:16Speaker 1: Oh my god, but it's just such a busy time.
- 2:18Speaker 2: And that every time is a busy time.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Whether people around you make it busy or whether you
- 2:23Speaker 1: yourself has made it busy, there's always going to be
- 2:26Speaker 1: a busy time. So to think I've got to wait
- 2:29Speaker 1: until the stars aligned for me to.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Be able to do something every single day without fail,
- 2:34Speaker 2: then I'm going to do it.
- 2:35Speaker 1: You're going to be waiting your whole life since since
- 2:46Speaker 1: the point of consistency, in my opinion, is so you
- 2:51Speaker 1: don't have to be consistent every day, if that makes sense,
- 2:55Speaker 1: you do it enough times that you're noticing enough of
- 2:58Speaker 1: the change that it allows for the off days. Consistency
- 3:02Speaker 1: and discipline allows.
- 3:03Speaker 2: For the off days.
- 3:04Speaker 1: It allows for the that's the time that I couldn't
- 3:07Speaker 1: do it because I had a meeting, I've got a
- 3:08Speaker 1: weekend away, it's the holiday season. It's this, It's that
- 3:12Speaker 1: Consistency is doing something. The way I want you to
- 3:16Speaker 1: look at it is I want you looking at consistency
- 3:18Speaker 1: as doing something as more often than not. And my
- 3:22Speaker 1: favorite thing to implement is the idea of no two
- 3:28Speaker 1: days off in a row. So while i was referencing
- 3:32Speaker 1: the brain jowl, and I've got this little thing of
- 3:33Speaker 1: these boxes that you color in as you do it.
- 3:36Speaker 1: So you write like Monday to Friday, you say, like meditating,
- 3:39Speaker 1: moving body, like working out, sauna, whatever it is, like
- 3:47Speaker 1: practicing a language, It can be any task, and you
- 3:50Speaker 1: have to color in the box for the one you do,
- 3:51Speaker 1: but then you can see which boxes haven't been colored in.
- 3:53Speaker 1: You never want to see two boxes not colored in
- 3:56Speaker 1: back to back, like next to each other.
- 3:58Speaker 2: But you're gonna have one on one off, one on
- 4:00Speaker 2: one off, one.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Of If your hit rate is fifty percent of doing
- 4:05Speaker 1: something consistently for six months and you're doing it fifty
- 4:08Speaker 1: percent of the time, you're doing five hundred.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Percent better than what you're doing right now.
- 4:15Speaker 1: This is what we don't give ourselves, what we don't realize,
- 4:19Speaker 1: or what we don't give ourselves credit for. We think, no, no, no,
- 4:21Speaker 1: no no, it's got to be perfect, otherworld, why bother.
- 4:24Speaker 1: It's it's all or nothing, all or nothing, all or
- 4:26Speaker 1: the and then it ends up being nothing. We have
- 4:29Speaker 1: this all or nothing approach, but then we settle for
- 4:31Speaker 1: nothing again and again and again.
- 4:33Speaker 2: It's ridiculous.
- 4:34Speaker 1: So instead of doing that, just sinking no, two days
- 4:36Speaker 1: off in a row, and I'm going to be so
- 4:38Speaker 1: good to you. You don't even have to include weekends
- 4:40Speaker 1: in that if you don't want to. If you're something
- 4:42Speaker 1: that no, no, no, no no. My weekends are sacred and
- 4:44Speaker 1: they're fucking all over the whatever. You can do two
- 4:47Speaker 1: days in off in a row Monday to Friday, right,
- 4:51Speaker 1: so you're doing Monday, Wednesday, Friday. We're doing whatever. Okay,
- 4:55Speaker 1: but what the aim of this is that you are
- 4:58Speaker 1: doing at least fifty percent of the time, at least
- 5:02Speaker 1: fifty percent of the time. So you do Monday, Tuesday,
- 5:05Speaker 1: couldn't do Wednesday, Thursday, couldn't do Friday. The next week is,
- 5:07Speaker 1: couldn't do Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, third, you know, whatever it is.
- 5:11Speaker 1: But you're having no two days off in a row.
- 5:13Speaker 1: If you want to include the weekends in there, that's ideal.
- 5:16Speaker 1: You don't even have to, Okay. What that means is
- 5:20Speaker 1: that you approach consistency with a completely brand like a
- 5:24Speaker 1: brand new lens, and you think, I just have to
- 5:27Speaker 1: have my hit rate at fifty percent or more.
- 5:32Speaker 2: That's it.
- 5:33Speaker 1: And if my hit rate is at fifty percent or more,
- 5:35Speaker 1: I'm doing it enough times that it becomes part of
- 5:37Speaker 1: my lifestyle. Because you don't want to do something once
- 5:40Speaker 1: and then nothing for two weeks and then once because
- 5:41Speaker 1: it's just too sporadic and you don't get used to
- 5:44Speaker 1: it doesn't feel like it's part of you doesn't.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Feel like it's part of your lifestyle. You're not really
- 5:48Speaker 2: getting anywhere.
- 5:49Speaker 1: You forget what you've done, or your body's not conditioned enough,
- 5:52Speaker 1: and you just go back to square one every time.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Okay, but you're doing it enough times that it becomes.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Part of your routine and part of your new life,
- 5:59Speaker 1: your new identity who I am now in this moving
- 6:02Speaker 1: into the new year. You're doing it enough times to
- 6:04Speaker 1: be getting better, incrementally better at that thing, or better
- 6:08Speaker 1: at like dropping into the zone at that thing, or
- 6:10Speaker 1: feeling nicer.
- 6:13Speaker 2: You're seeing how it's changing your life.
- 6:16Speaker 1: You're doing it enough times that it's creating a positive
- 6:18Speaker 1: impact on your life, and you're also noticing that you're
- 6:23Speaker 1: able to create balance that I don't have to do
- 6:25Speaker 1: it every single day.
- 6:27Speaker 2: And because I'm noticing this.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Change, it's going to make me want to do it
- 6:31Speaker 1: whenever I can do it. But I don't have to
- 6:33Speaker 1: do it every single day where I wake up and
- 6:35Speaker 1: I'm like, I just I'm so tired and I need
- 6:40Speaker 1: that extra sleep. I didn't have a good sleep, and
- 6:42Speaker 1: I'm going to perform better today if I get that
- 6:44Speaker 1: extra sleep.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Most days I don't do that, but there are days
- 6:47Speaker 2: where I listen.
- 6:48Speaker 1: To my body and I think, today is not the
- 6:49Speaker 1: fucking day and I am not the one, So I'm
- 6:52Speaker 1: going to not wake up super early, or it's just
- 6:56Speaker 1: not a day for me to go and do that
- 6:57Speaker 1: task on that training. You're gonna have your off days,
- 7:00Speaker 1: or you're going to have your days where it's just
- 7:01Speaker 1: too hectic and you can't get something done. But in general,
- 7:04Speaker 1: more often than not, you've created a new system of
- 7:07Speaker 1: doing certain things that you actually like doing that thing
- 7:10Speaker 1: because you know how it impacts your mood, you know
- 7:12Speaker 1: how it impacts your life. You start to see a
- 7:14Speaker 1: kind of you see your correlation. The days that I
- 7:17Speaker 1: did do that, I felt better in the evening. The
- 7:19Speaker 1: days that I did do that more often than not
- 7:21Speaker 1: in that week, I felt better overall at the end
- 7:23Speaker 1: of the week. And that's something that I have in
- 7:25Speaker 1: my brain journal is that alongside you tracking when you
- 7:29Speaker 1: do these set habits, you then track your mood overall.
- 7:33Speaker 1: So at the end of because each journal last five weeks,
- 7:35Speaker 1: at the end of the five week period, you're able
- 7:37Speaker 1: to actually track it.
- 7:39Speaker 2: It's wild and then you start.
- 7:41Speaker 1: To see a pattern of behavior and how it correlates
- 7:44Speaker 1: with your mood. At the end of the five weeks,
- 7:47Speaker 1: you line them all up next to each other and
- 7:49Speaker 1: you're like, Wow, the times that I meditated most days
- 7:53Speaker 1: in the week were the happiest weeks I had, or
- 7:55Speaker 1: the times that I spent because you set what the
- 7:57Speaker 1: tasks are so you could be like thirty minutes of
- 7:59Speaker 1: tidy my home. The days that I did that more often,
- 8:02Speaker 1: I was happier. All the days that I hit most
- 8:04Speaker 1: of my targets, I felt better or calmer or whatever.
- 8:07Speaker 1: So it's like a way of tracking mood up against
- 8:09Speaker 1: the actual behaviors that you do. And if you do more,
- 8:12Speaker 1: like if you stick to no two days off in
- 8:14Speaker 1: a row, I can guarantee you with a fifty percent
- 8:18Speaker 1: hit rate or better, your life will change. Don't tell
- 8:23Speaker 1: yourself that consistency you've got to wait till everything is perfect,
- 8:26Speaker 1: because you'll be waiting for the rest of your life
- 8:27Speaker 1: and then you'll never be consistent. You are consistently doing
- 8:31Speaker 1: something if you do it multiple times a week, doesn't have.
- 8:33Speaker 2: To be every day.
- 8:34Speaker 1: You are consistently doing something if you do something at
- 8:37Speaker 1: least twice a week every single week.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Okay, So calm the fuck down.
- 8:44Speaker 1: When it comes to how strict you are with consistency,
- 8:47Speaker 1: and just tell yourself, I'm going to start the no
- 8:50Speaker 1: two days off in a row. You can aim to
- 8:52Speaker 1: do it daily, but be like, that's the threshold. Not
- 8:55Speaker 1: dipping below this threshold, unless, of course I'm actually ill
- 8:59Speaker 1: or away, which is fine, but in general, I'm not
- 9:01Speaker 1: dipping below this threshold. And watch how everything turns around
- 9:06Speaker 1: because you look at consistency differently. You start thinking, I
- 9:08Speaker 1: am consistent. I'm actually consistent because I'm showing up on
- 9:12Speaker 1: the days that I said I was gonna show up.
- 9:14Speaker 1: And a fifty percent hit rate is actually infinitely more
- 9:18Speaker 1: than I've ever done. Okay, if you aim for one
- 9:21Speaker 1: hundred percent, you're not gonna hit it likely, and then
- 9:24Speaker 1: you're gonna think that you're flawed.
- 9:26Speaker 2: You got to like prepare yourself more. You gotta wait
- 9:27Speaker 2: for another time. You gotta this. You got to that
- 9:29Speaker 2: you're gonna be pissed off at yourself.
- 9:30Speaker 1: If you aim for fifty sixty seventy percent hit rate,
- 9:34Speaker 1: you're gonna be hitting it. And then when you have
- 9:35Speaker 1: the days off, you're like, oh, I don't even need
- 9:37Speaker 1: this day off, but I can take it if I want,
- 9:39Speaker 1: because I'm already doing the hit rate that I said I.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Was gonna do.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Okay, everything changes. How are you priming yourself to approach
- 9:46Speaker 1: what consistency looks like?
- 9:48Speaker 2: Give that a go.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Get the fucking brain Journal if you want so you
- 9:51Speaker 1: can track everything. It is such a game changer. I
- 9:54Speaker 1: couldn't recommend it higher because for me, that's what's turned
- 9:57Speaker 1: around a lot of things, things that I've wanted to
- 9:59Speaker 1: start implament in my life have been a lot easier
- 10:01Speaker 1: to implement by using the system.
- 10:04Speaker 2: So go ahead, use it, see how it works on you.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Love you guys so much. That is all for today.
- 10:09Speaker 1: As always remember, become to yourself, become to your brain.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Don't take shit from anyone, and especially don't take shit
- 10:16Speaker 1: from yourself.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Dunker and see you tomorrow.
