- 0:00Get laced up. Let's go. It's time for Banter
- 0:04with the Boys. What it is, old bristles, and
- 0:14welcome back to Banter with the Boys. Gridiron
- 0:16updates. This is our tent talk episode. Roberto's
- 0:20not even paying attention. That's okay. He was
- 0:22still freaking out about the intro, but with
- 0:25that. Roberto is right here on the side. You
- 0:29already know. Right on. You did the horns. I
- 0:32know. Sorry. He's getting into it. He's getting
- 0:34into it. It's fine. It's fine. We haven't even
- 0:35done an episode yet tonight. I was busy putting
- 0:37the snakes in the tent. That's right. Somebody's
- 0:40got to do it, right? So he wasn't even in the
- 0:41tent. You guys are sitting next to the fire I
- 0:44built. Anyway, since it is the tent talk episode,
- 0:48the flock doc is in the frigging house. What's
- 0:53up, doc? Hello. All right. So our first injuries
- 1:00here. First off, before Lamar and Marcus Mariota
- 1:04went down in week four, there had already been
- 1:06eight significant quarterback injuries through
- 1:10three weeks. I feel like that's a lot. It feels
- 1:13like that's more than normal. I should have looked
- 1:16that up. Has there been this many? quarterback
- 1:19injuries in the first three weeks in the past,
- 1:21like, I don't know, five years. It just feels
- 1:23like it's more than normal as far as, you know,
- 1:25starting QBs going down. Yeah, right on. I feel
- 1:30like we're on pace for what the league average
- 1:32has been over the last few years. A couple of
- 1:35years ago, it was kind of ridiculous where there
- 1:36were like 60 some odd different quarterbacks
- 1:39that played over the course of the entire season.
- 1:43Right on. Versus... Yeah. Okay. Has not been
- 1:49that many, or that's not really a measurable
- 1:51metric? Not a stat. Well, it gives me something
- 1:56to do in the offseason just for that one stat,
- 1:58and then it won't matter. Break it down. Anyway,
- 2:01with that, Lamar Jackson, I mean, that's obviously
- 2:02something to keep an eye on here. His ankle.
- 2:05Have you seen anything on flock news? And that
- 2:09he... Is he going to play? No. I don't think
- 2:13he's going to play. No good. There's an outside
- 2:15chance he'll play. He seemed like he was doing
- 2:18all right when he was standing on the sidelines
- 2:21in the second half, bouncing around and stuff
- 2:23like that. But he did leave the stadium in a
- 2:26walking boot. Never a good sign. Yeah, not a
- 2:31good sign, but also probably just precautionary.
- 2:33Sure. Let's not make it worse. It's an expensive
- 2:35ankle right there. I don't think he'll play.
- 2:40Tyler Huntley or Snoop Huntley should do pretty
- 2:43well as far as his backup. Do they open up that
- 2:48playbook? I think they do. I think they should.
- 2:51Now that he has that week as the starter bona
- 2:54fide, you're starting this week. A full week
- 2:56to prepare. A lot of that receiving core he's
- 2:59worked with over the last few years anyways,
- 3:01so he has some familiarity with Mark Andrews,
- 3:04with, say, Flowers, with Rashad Bateman. And
- 3:09you still have Derrick Henry in the backfield,
- 3:11a running back or a good running game as a quarterback's
- 3:14best friend. So I think... Yeah, they'll open
- 3:19the playbook up a little bit more. And they'll
- 3:24put up points. They'll move the ball. Move the
- 3:26ball. Put up points. It's easy. Yeah. Just like
- 3:28that. Money, money, money. I mentioned Mariota.
- 3:32So Marcus Mariota, he sprained his MCL. However.
- 3:36Go Ducks. However, Jaden Daniels looks to return
- 3:39this week for the Commanders. Didn't know he
- 3:42was going to be back this soon. I didn't think
- 3:44so. I mean, after seeing the video, you wouldn't
- 3:47have thought so either. But he's tracking to
- 3:50possibly play this week. I don't think that's
- 3:52a confirmed thing. Maybe I quit searching for
- 3:55him. Otherwise, it's going to be Athan Kaliak
- 3:57-Manis. Yeah. Skew, nope. Sorry. Anyway. Yeah,
- 4:06I'm not sorry about that. Saquon Barkley. Hamstring.
- 4:10That's something to really monitor. He is officially,
- 4:12like, week to week. No idea if he's actually
- 4:15going to play or not. And with the way that offense
- 4:17played without him in the second half, boy, do
- 4:20the Eagles need him. Now maybe it's, again, one
- 4:23of those things where Shipley or whoever the
- 4:26hell else they got. But he got banged up, too.
- 4:28So that might be him. Yeah. I know it. Yeah.
- 4:34Yeah. Core injury. Or whatever. So he's going
- 4:37to be out for... Abdominal. Yeah, they put him
- 4:40on the IR, right? Oh, they did? Yeah. Whoa, I
- 4:42missed that. Good thing we're doing this episode.
- 4:45Yeah. Now everyone knows, not just us. I think
- 4:48the core injury is like code or slang word for
- 4:53some kind of hernia. Okay. Oh, interesting. So
- 4:57you've checked them out. You're the doctor, right?
- 5:00So you've checked out Bigsby. You for sure, you're
- 5:02like, yep, that is a hernia. Right on. Felt that
- 5:06before. Sounds good. That's why we got the doc
- 5:08in the house. You can have different kinds of
- 5:10hernias. So, you know, you get them up here versus
- 5:13other places. So, yeah. You know, anal hernia
- 5:17in the throat. That sounds like that would be
- 5:21painful. No. So we're going to see a lot of Will
- 5:23Shipley. You've had it. Yeah, Will Shipley. We're
- 5:25going down the wrong path here. Talking about
- 5:27hernias. Anyway, yeah, possibly a lot of Will
- 5:30Shipley. But, again, that second half with no
- 5:32Saquon Barkley was way different for the Eagles
- 5:34and did not look good at all. And in the news,
- 5:38we'll touch on some stuff in the news as well
- 5:40about more Eagles stuff. Let's see. Both Cincinnati
- 5:45receivers are down. If you listened to our last
- 5:47episode, that kind of got brought up. Chase right
- 5:49now with the concussion. He's got to go through
- 5:51concussion protocol. We all know what that's
- 5:52like. Or at least the process for the NFL or
- 5:55the Shield. Sorry. I don't know if we can even
- 5:57say those three letters. No. Can we not? I can't
- 6:00even think of them. That's a bunch of crap. Let's
- 6:03all have a beer and pretend to drink it. All
- 6:05right. What? Who, me? So we don't know. Jamar
- 6:09Chase is going to play. When he's going to play
- 6:10again, you'd like to assume ASAP. But, again,
- 6:14there's those protocols in place that he has
- 6:15to pass. T. Higgins also picked up a groin injury
- 6:18that same game. What is that? That's like $65
- 6:23million a receiver right there. Yeah, buddy.
- 6:26That's crazy. Like 25 % of the salary cap. Oh,
- 6:30that's right. Who do they play? We just talked
- 6:33about this, too, last episode. Yeah. They play
- 6:36the Titan? The Dolphins. Oh, that's right, the
- 6:40Dolphins. And that's where you were actually
- 6:42talking about. That might give the Dolphins a
- 6:45chance if you're without their top two targets.
- 6:46Maybe they get their first win. You're saying
- 6:48there's a chance. The Dolphins? I can see how
- 6:52they hung with KC. Or, yeah, how they hung with
- 6:56KC. Or we see another reason for the Bengals'
- 7:02defense actually being legit. Maybe the Bengals'
- 7:05defense keeps... I mean, Dexter in there has
- 7:08completely changed that defense, but yes. That'll
- 7:12be interesting. No, that defense has completely
- 7:14changed around, which is why they feel like they're
- 7:17actually competing in games this year. And Joey
- 7:21B is healthy right now, so that helps too. Broncos.
- 7:25Patrick Sertain, the second with an ankle injury,
- 7:27and also fellow corner Riley Moss with a rib
- 7:30injury. So the Broncos secondary getting a little
- 7:32thin there on the back end. We'll see what happens
- 7:36there. Packers linebacker Edgren Cooper. I don't
- 7:41think I said that. I messed up his name. That's
- 7:44right. Achilles, done for the year. It just continues.
- 7:46It goes from bad to worse for the Packers right
- 7:48now, honestly. Seriously, like every week. And
- 7:51I haven't heard a sniff about Joshua Jacobs yet.
- 7:54Josh Jacobs, yeah. Josh Jacobs coming back. Is
- 7:57Micah Parsons still – isn't he supposed to be
- 7:59back? Don't they play the – He's still – well,
- 8:03what, they – They play the Cowboys this week,
- 8:05the Packers? No. No, he – yeah, we don't know.
- 8:09They play the Bears. I'm sorry. They play Cowboys
- 8:11Sunday night football next week. Yeah, we still
- 8:12don't know when Micah's coming back either. They're
- 8:16just – Spiraling out of control. You don't rush
- 8:19them back at this point, really. I mean, to be
- 8:20honest. Depending on how this weekend's game
- 8:23goes against the Bears. If you can beat the Bears
- 8:25and Micah's 90%. That's a tall order. I know.
- 8:31And Micah Parsons is at least in Green Bay, I
- 8:33think. And Micah's like 80 % ready to go by the
- 8:36time the Cowboys play the Packers. I feel like
- 8:39he's doing anything he can to get on the field.
- 8:42Fair. As he should. Because then they go to Lions,
- 8:45Panthers, Patriots, Vikings. It's not a great
- 8:48schedule there for the Packers coming up. So
- 8:50they got a lot of work to do there. So just again,
- 8:52Cooper going down. Before the season slips away.
- 8:54Cooper going down for the year. So again, a big
- 8:57game this weekend for the Packers. And historical
- 8:59matchup, as always, Bears -Packers. Second greatest
- 9:02rivalry in the NFL. Behind, let me guess, like
- 9:05Ravens and Steelers. Yeah, 100 % correct. Get
- 9:07out of here. I'm sorry. I almost lost my mind.
- 9:10It was worth it. Sorry. Yeah, but. Bears, Packers,
- 9:13don't miss it this weekend. You already know.
- 9:16It's at noon. Anyway, shameless plug for our
- 9:20rivals. I don't know what that was about. Sorry.
- 9:22Awkward. Yeah. Let's see. Chiefs receivers issues.
- 9:26Thornton, obviously, dislocated ankle. He's out
- 9:29indefinitely. Did you see the video? Yes, I did.
- 9:32And I felt like you had a comment about it earlier.
- 9:35You were about to say something. When I watched
- 9:37it, when I watched the play. It didn't really,
- 9:39like, dawn on me or seem like anything terrible.
- 9:42It wasn't until. It didn't to him either. Right.
- 9:44Because he stood up. Yeah. And was, like, shimmying.
- 9:47And then he's like, oh, let me lay down. And
- 9:49then that's when you saw his, like, foot pointing
- 9:51in the wrong direction. And you're like, oh.
- 9:53I think, what was it? One of his linemen went
- 9:55over. Yeah. And, like, was about to take a knee
- 9:57with him and saw the foot. And he's like, nah.
- 9:59He, like, got on the left of him. That'd be me.
- 10:01That'd be me. I don't know. I don't know. That
- 10:03happened to me once when I was stuck in a conveyor
- 10:05belt. Anyway. I mean. The first person walked
- 10:08away. Unfortunate that that happened to him because
- 10:10he was off to a great start this year. He was.
- 10:13He was. He's a big body target, too. I actually
- 10:16really like him. And for that Chiefs offense,
- 10:18I mean, it's a nice half. The other nice half
- 10:21is Rushie Rice, who tweaked his hammy, and that's
- 10:24another day -to -day situation right now. Hamstring's
- 10:27nothing to play with. I don't think that's the
- 10:29first time that's happened to him either. Was
- 10:30it last year? Or the year before where he tweaked
- 10:34it, too? I feel like he's a soft tissue kind
- 10:37of guy. Chargers woes just continue right now.
- 10:44Joel and Rashad Slater, they're two top linemen
- 10:48that they spent so much draft capital on. They
- 10:50were hurt last year. They were hurt last year.
- 10:53That was a big thing. preaching all last year
- 10:56too it's like they just need both these guys
- 10:57healthy yeah everything's going to be fixed it's
- 10:59going to be fine and this year we they've been
- 11:01healthy and it hasn't been fine and now they're
- 11:03out so maybe they'll start winning now um and
- 11:06then lad mcconkie also was not available either
- 11:08so just just continues to get worse for the chargers
- 11:10right now Vikings O -line, not great either for
- 11:14us right now. Derrissaw, who you weren't impressed
- 11:17with maybe this past game, you're saying? He
- 11:20got pushed around. He got pushed around a little
- 11:22bit. He wasn't perfect. We'll say that. He was
- 11:25being evaluated for a concussion, so he might
- 11:27enter protocol as well. He did not return to
- 11:30the game. Did you see the play that he got a
- 11:33concussion on? No, I did not. It was weird. They
- 11:36just wasn't doing great, and they had to put
- 11:38something on there? It didn't look like you...
- 11:40Like, took a hit to the head, even. I know. That
- 11:42was the view I got. It was like concussion? Yeah.
- 11:46And on all 22, there's no commentary, either.
- 11:48So I'm just looking at what I see. That was the
- 11:51play. And the Vikings' best alignment of the
- 11:54year, Donovan Jackson, is done for the season.
- 11:57After, I believe, it was a meniscus tear. So
- 11:59he's done. Done. Needs surgery. Done. Maybe it
- 12:03was a play before, and I missed it. It had to
- 12:05be. So one of those situations where it's almost
- 12:07a good thing that we got Kyler back there who
- 12:09can at least extend a play and maybe move around
- 12:12a bit. I don't know. We'll see. It helps, especially
- 12:15when you're at offense alignment. That's when
- 12:17the dual threat quarterback comes alive. Right.
- 12:20For sure. That's what I mean. That offense has
- 12:23continued to limp to wins, riding the defense.
- 12:26So we'll see if they continue to limp or if they
- 12:28can figure it out. And specials, that's right.
- 12:30Miles Price, shout out. Killing it. Got a boy.
- 12:32Starting to remind me of Percy Harvin a little
- 12:36bit. Let's see. Uh, let's move. Okay. Injuries.
- 12:40You got any more injuries before you move on?
- 12:42Cause you, cause you had asked me about injuries
- 12:44that like Ravens got, got out of there on skate.
- 12:46No, we continue to have all line injuries. Uh,
- 12:49what Andrew Voorhees. Don't tell me the center's
- 12:51down. Uh, has it? No. Uh, yeah. Uh, Venga is
- 12:56going to most likely started center again this
- 12:59week, uh, two. Um, but Andrew Voorhees, uh, guard
- 13:03foot injury. Um, what was the, Durham Smith,
- 13:12or excuse me, Smythe tore his Achilles, so he's
- 13:16done for the year. What is up with all these
- 13:18Achilles, man? He's fast like four or five. Yeah,
- 13:21but he was like their primary blocking tight
- 13:24end. Still important because that's historically
- 13:28has been one of their important things. Marlon
- 13:32Humphrey has a calf injury. Zay had his foot
- 13:35rolled over late in the game. No good. Yep, no
- 13:39good. So, yeah, Ravens are banged up. Ravens
- 13:43are banged. Yeah, I mean, this kind of goes into,
- 13:46I mean. A little bit of fantasy minute here.
- 13:49I had some injuries that just added to it. I
- 13:52mean, Geno Smith was banged up a little bit.
- 13:54Also, Dak got a hand contusion. On a throwing
- 13:58hit? I believe it was. And then Menungai and
- 14:04Swift got a little banged up knee and thumb.
- 14:07Love still banged up. I feel like he just didn't
- 14:11be an update. Are all these guys tracking the
- 14:12players or some? You're a little bit more concerned.
- 14:15Just kind of looking, like, thinking about backups
- 14:17if you're going to want to pick them up on fantasy.
- 14:19This is kind of, I guess, generally where I'm
- 14:21at. And then we already talked about the Tennessee
- 14:24receivers. So, like, Jermaine Burton, Irwin are
- 14:28a couple guys, even the tight end. Mike Grzynski.
- 14:34Grzynski? How do you say his last name? You ride
- 14:38with that. I'm fine. I don't care. Sounds like
- 14:41it ends in ski. Ski. That's right. JJ still probably,
- 14:46we don't know. So Addison is still going to be
- 14:49a play. And now Xavier Worthy with Thornton and
- 14:52Rice going down. So you're going to be in. DJ
- 14:56Moore re -injured to that soldier again. So Coleman
- 14:59had a decent little game. Great catch on the
- 15:02sidelines. I don't know if you guys ended up
- 15:04seeing that one. I think it was a top five catch
- 15:06of the week kind of. Tipped it to himself and
- 15:08re -caught it. It was a nice concentration. Landon
- 15:12McConkley foot hurts. I mean, that's just the
- 15:15whole. I kind of stay away from the Chargers
- 15:17or anything right now. And that's kind of where
- 15:22we're at. So, Will Shipley is a pickup. Burton,
- 15:24Addison, and then Tyler Huntley, you know, in
- 15:28that offense. A lot of red zone opportunities,
- 15:31so you never know. But there's always some other
- 15:34quarterbacks out there, too. Yeah, that's kind
- 15:37of what I got. Right on, right on, right on.
- 15:40Let's head into a little bit of our news here
- 15:42before we close this episode out. The Chiefs,
- 15:46the Vikings, the 49ers all remain undefeated.
- 15:49Skull to the bull. Heck yeah, baby. Don't worry.
- 15:53We'll talk about the Chiefs and the Vikes in
- 15:54our preview episode, our week five preview and
- 15:56picks episode. Don't forget to check that out,
- 15:58which is released usually after the tent talk.
- 16:03The Chiefs are on a bye week this week, and they
- 16:06play the Chargers coming out of that bye. We
- 16:07did touch on it, I believe, last episode, right?
- 16:11I'm thinking it could be a trap game. Didn't
- 16:13you say you were thinking? No, you also agreed
- 16:16with me. You're thinking they're going to stomp
- 16:17the Chargers probably, or at least win the game.
- 16:19Yeah, Andy Reid's going to have them prepared.
- 16:22Andy Reid coming out of a bye week. nigh unstoppable
- 16:24which was what was it 25 and 5 i said so yeah
- 16:27that was yeah i mean that's pretty two and five
- 16:29it's a pretty yeah you're right 22 and five yeah
- 16:31that's a pretty healthy step yeah right on that
- 16:34dog i'll hunt right on uh and then like i said
- 16:37we'll talk about if the um oh oh yeah we're talking
- 16:43about the niners too this episode my bad my bad
- 16:45sorry what are you doing just tossing stuff in
- 16:47my mouth right on okay right on right on um With
- 16:51that, we still have five teams that are winless.
- 16:53The Texans, Chargers, Dolphins, Buccaneers, and
- 16:55Titans. Hot seats. We touched on the Texans.
- 16:59Oh, some hot seats. I'll keep going where you're
- 17:02at. No, I was just curious. We touched on, you
- 17:05know, at least I think we all agree that the
- 17:08Texans are probably the best of the winless,
- 17:10right? Yes. I agree. Best 0 -14. 0 -14. I think
- 17:15I've ever seen. I mean, their schedule's been
- 17:17tough. For sure. Nico being out games two and
- 17:19three. Mm -hmm. Last week against Dallas, I mean,
- 17:23it was a shootout. It was fun. But their defense
- 17:26hasn't given over. They gave up over 30 once
- 17:31last year, and they've given it up twice now.
- 17:34So they need to step up a little bit. But we
- 17:37expect them to beat the Titans this week and
- 17:39get their first win, no? Yes. No, wait a minute.
- 17:44Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Jake, I'm on it.
- 17:47No, I don't. They'll get it. Right on. Right
- 17:52on. Just curious. We're not doing pictures. I
- 17:54mean, Titans can give them a battle just because
- 17:56I think defensively they're good enough. But
- 17:59I think Anderson and Hunter and that edge is
- 18:02going to really, especially because I think the
- 18:04Titans can run the ball. Once the Titans can
- 18:06run the ball suddenly, that's the only opportunity
- 18:09they'll be able to be in it. Right on. Cam Ward
- 18:11will be running for his life. Run, Cam, run.
- 18:15Lane Johnson retires. from the Eagles to focus
- 18:20on his mental health and family stuff. You know,
- 18:24he played for the Eagles for 14 years, didn't
- 18:26allow a single sack in 2024. So the dude was
- 18:28all time for the Eagles. So that's just, again,
- 18:31another big loss for them. He did play weeks,
- 18:34I think, one through three. Didn't play last
- 18:36week because of personal issues and now has decided
- 18:38to retire and step away. Just all the best to
- 18:41Lane Johnson on that. Joe Mixon was about to
- 18:46return. Sure I am. And did not. So Seahawks,
- 18:50it came out, was that today? Yes. This morning
- 18:52that he was going to be signed or was that yesterday?
- 18:54It was late yesterday that he was going to sign.
- 18:57And then today came out that the Seahawks have
- 19:00decided not to sign him based on the old physical.
- 19:05Yes. I can't find what. I'm kidding. Oh, geez.
- 19:10I have not seen, like, necessarily what. I mean,
- 19:14he's been banged up over the years. He had a
- 19:17foot injury last year, the Texans. And I think
- 19:19they were already talking about it last year,
- 19:21preseason, that it could be career ending. I
- 19:24just happened to look it up once I saw the news.
- 19:27He just turned 30 in July. That's like the shelf
- 19:31life for the running back. Yeah. A little bit.
- 19:34If you haven't played in a year or two and you're
- 19:3730, the chances of returning. But he still had
- 19:38juice left in the tank, I believed. I don't think
- 19:41he would retire. He was still pretty dynamic.
- 19:44But, yeah, that foot injury just, yeah. Obviously,
- 19:49the Seahawks saw something they were pretty still
- 19:51concerned about. So you asked before the pod
- 19:55if you think that's it. you know, for mixing.
- 19:58If one team says no at this point, it's like,
- 20:00well, there's a reason for that, and all the
- 20:01teams know his history at this point. So, unless
- 20:05they're really needy, but obviously saw something
- 20:08that they're very concerned about. Seahawks are
- 20:09kind of needy. They are. That's what I mean.
- 20:11So, that should be a concern, you know, if you're
- 20:13Joe Mixon, about, like you said, the return of
- 20:17your career here. Let's see. Real quick. I don't
- 20:21know. That's not news. Okay. Tyreek Hill, though.
- 20:25Wait, hold on. What's not news? The Patriots
- 20:28beating Buffalo. That was a great game. I guess
- 20:34my question to that would be, are the Patriots
- 20:37back to maybe being competitive to the point
- 20:41where we're going to start seeing that battle
- 20:43between Buffalo and the Patriots for the division?
- 20:47I think Mike Vrabel has them pointed in the right
- 20:50direction. We'll start there. Right on. Because
- 20:55you have to. And they're 1 -0 now. You've got
- 20:57to string some wins together. Yeah. I mean, Drake
- 21:02Mays started playing football. I mean, that's
- 21:04literally, I think, the difference of it is.
- 21:06I mean, if he doesn't make dumb throws in that
- 21:09Seattle game, he just had a really bad beginning
- 21:12to the season. And now they've got that running
- 21:15game kind of going. And that defense has always
- 21:18been pretty solid overall with anything that
- 21:21Braves kind of touches. Yeah, I think they're
- 21:25going to be competitive. I mean, they spent a
- 21:28ton of money. A .J. Brown will come back at some
- 21:30point. I mean, was that the question, whether
- 21:33they're going to be competitive? Just if they're
- 21:34going to be competitive again now, at least with
- 21:37the Bills for sure, and they're head -to -heads.
- 21:41And they needed to be able to win the division.
- 21:43They really needed that game because they fall
- 21:45to one and three and the vibe of how they've
- 21:49been playing. Like, oh, everyone in that media
- 21:51over there is going to be like, oh, last year
- 21:53was a fluke. Yeah. I mean, that's where that
- 21:55conversation is coming from. So now that quieted
- 21:58the crowd a little bit. Vikings plus 35 in point
- 22:05differential. Sorry, I'm just thinking. Well,
- 22:07I was just watching people online and stuff where
- 22:10they're writing up just about the Vikings offense.
- 22:12And you're plus 35 point differential ranks in
- 22:15the NFL. That defense is just where do you think
- 22:18that ranks you in the NFL? That's got to be top
- 22:2010. Probably plus 35 in point. Yeah. Might even
- 22:25be higher than top 10, to be honest with you.
- 22:26That seems like a lot. It's five. They're fifth
- 22:28in the NFL in point differential. And then I
- 22:31started looking at, like, oh, how many points
- 22:33for have they scored? And everyone's been pointing
- 22:36out to their, I'm going to make sure I get the
- 22:37number. What's their ranking on that? Well, it's
- 22:39just that, like, they've scored, like, is it
- 22:4187? About 20, I would imagine. And, like, two
- 22:44-thirds of those are field goals? 86. 86 total
- 22:48points. Will Reichardt's all -time already. But
- 22:50let me ask you this question. I'll throw out
- 22:52a couple names. You think whether they've scored
- 22:54more than the Vikings yet this year. We'll say
- 22:57the Saints. Wait, total points? Total points.
- 23:00Points for? No. Saints definitely have. How about
- 23:03the Broncos? No. I would say no. No. What about
- 23:07the Patriots? No. What about the Rams? Yes. I'm
- 23:15going to say yes on that one. No. Ooh. No. They
- 23:18have not scored more than the Vikings? Exactly.
- 23:20So if you kind of look at the overall picture
- 23:23of the whole NFL, I mean, it's all about the
- 23:27wins. That's all the staff that only matters
- 23:30the most. That's all we care about. So you can
- 23:32angle and look at every differential, and then
- 23:34you'd look at it. And also, then you have to
- 23:37put it in the schedule of the teams they play.
- 23:39Yeah, because there have been, in the past, like
- 23:43your number one seeds of like, oh, they've...
- 23:45won their games by an average of, like, three
- 23:47points. Exactly. And you're just like, wait,
- 23:50what? So, yeah. I'm picking up what you're putting
- 23:55down. There could be some really skewed information.
- 23:58So after just looking at the internet today as
- 24:01they're dissecting and fire KOC conversations
- 24:04and start Wentz. I agree with the start Wentz.
- 24:09Oh. Okay, okay. Tell us why. I just never believed
- 24:15in Kyler Murray. Okay. So it's longtime hate
- 24:18for him. It's not longtime hate. There's a long
- 24:22amount of data that's there to support that he's
- 24:29not the guy. Would you say the same thing about
- 24:34Sam Darnold then? That Sam Darnold's not? That's
- 24:39a great question. Looking at the data, you'd
- 24:42be like, oh, man, who is this guy? And if you're
- 24:45just looking at stats, yeah, you would say Sam
- 24:49Darnold's not the guy. Okay. So we don't need
- 24:52to have a guy to win a Super Bowl. That's awesome.
- 24:55There we go. There we go. That's what I'm grabbing.
- 24:58That's what I'm going to take from that. Sam
- 24:58Darnold didn't have our defense and a very bad
- 25:02team. Well, I had to be a holder. Here we go.
- 25:05I mean, that's a disclaimer to the relevancy
- 25:09of the question, right? Well, I guess you could
- 25:11say, though, the Cardinals didn't have a good
- 25:13team either. They're the same comparison from
- 25:15the Jets to the Cardinals of quality of roster.
- 25:18Sure. So. All right. Hey, fans, let us know what
- 25:24you think. Tyreek Hill news. He's getting close
- 25:28to. Running around and stuff and being back at
- 25:31it. Rumors of going back to the Chiefs in time
- 25:35for a little playoff run at some point. I mean,
- 25:37with Thornton and Rice going down, it seems like
- 25:40it's kind of making obvious. Yeah, it seems fitting.
- 25:43If there was one other team, he said he wanted
- 25:45to go somewhere cold. But is there any other
- 25:48team? He wants to go somewhere cold? He said
- 25:50that. Yeah, words. Like, cold as in, like, they're
- 25:53a bad team cold? Or, like, cold as in, like,
- 25:55weather team? Cold as in... Back to Miami, it
- 25:58is. Cold as in weather. Cold as in weather. Why
- 26:00would he want... He played in Kansas City for
- 26:02a minute. Yeah. He was trying to angle something.
- 26:06Oh, for sure he was. For sure he was. I was like,
- 26:09Green Bay? What? Nah, I don't see Green Bay.
- 26:12He was going to go to a contender. Sure. He was
- 26:15going to go to a contender. I could see, like,
- 26:17the Patriots. Man, him and AJ Brown would be
- 26:21interesting. If he's like, how much are we going
- 26:24to get of Tyreek Hill? That's just it. I think
- 26:27you get enough. The other thing that you think
- 26:30about, I mean, in addition to it being the Chiefs,
- 26:33which makes the most sense. offensively scheming.
- 26:38It's Andy Reid. He knows the offense. Familiar
- 26:41with Patrick Mahomes. But the other caveat to
- 26:44this that we really haven't talked about at all
- 26:46this year is Eric Bien -Aimé is the offensive
- 26:48coordinator. And that's when they were deep shots,
- 26:54high flying. Now I know that they're running
- 26:57the football a whole heck of a lot because of
- 26:59K -9 or Kenneth Walker III. And so it's a very
- 27:04different... So it's a very different offensive
- 27:09scheme that they're running. But having Kenneth
- 27:13Walker III makes you have to honor that. You're
- 27:17playing up. You're putting eight in the box or
- 27:20nine in the box to stop the run. And now you
- 27:23can still have Tyreek streaking down the seam
- 27:27or down the sideline. So I think it's a great
- 27:31fit. I would be super mad and upset to see it
- 27:35happen. But, I mean, that's selfish. Tell us
- 27:38the truth, Doc. That's selfish Ravens fan. Be
- 27:40like, oh, man, he's going back there. Yeah. All
- 27:45right. I mean, I'm just saying my two cents is
- 27:47just that I don't know if he's got the speed
- 27:49still. I mean, someone's got to answer that question.
- 27:53He doesn't have to have speed. He doesn't have
- 27:55to have super speed anymore. Or the quickness
- 27:57or, you know. He's just got to, he just has to
- 28:03make, like, one move and then just go. I don't
- 28:06know. I think it's possible. Yeah, it's all about
- 28:09his ability and his speed. That's the only question
- 28:12I have for him. But that's always what's made
- 28:14Tyreek work is he just outrun you. The cheetah.
- 28:17I still think even a step slow, he's still a
- 28:22lot faster than a lot of DBs out there. Yeah,
- 28:25so we'll see, I guess, who picks him up and whether,
- 28:28you know. But, yeah, I'm going to go in. Tease
- 28:30is probably the possibility, and it makes the
- 28:32most sense. Yeah, Coach? I mean, it does make
- 28:37the most sense. There's already some continuity
- 28:39there. You know what I mean? But, again, it's
- 28:42just what I have said three times already. Like,
- 28:44how much are you going to get out of him? You
- 28:46know, how close to 100 % is he actually going
- 28:49to be after a gruesome injury like that? Last
- 28:53bit of news here. Two referees suspended this
- 28:57week. That was pretty freaking wild. We'll touch
- 29:00on who that is and why they were suspended. But
- 29:03I had to look it up because I was like. I don't
- 29:06remember this happening very often. Guess what?
- 29:08It doesn't. December of 2018, Roy Ellison was
- 29:12placed on administrative leave for one game and
- 29:14fined one game check for confrontation with a
- 29:16Bills player. No, I did not look up who the Bills
- 29:18player was. Before that, the last suspension
- 29:21was Rob Vernacci for an Arant 18 -second runoff
- 29:26during a Steelers -Chargers game that was in
- 29:272015. Then two years before that, Ellison, our
- 29:31boy Roy Ellison, was suspended for the first
- 29:34time for using profanity against a player, which
- 29:36ironically is one of the things that we saw a
- 29:38current suspension for. Again, we'll touch on
- 29:41that in a second. Repeat offenders. Now, touching
- 29:44on the Roy Ellison thing of using profanity against
- 29:47a player and then the most recent one of Jeff
- 29:49Seaman using profanity against Trey McBride.
- 29:55You know, we get situations where, like, Mike
- 29:57Rabel gets in a heated conversation and says,
- 30:00that's an effing terrible call to the ref. You
- 30:03know what I mean? Yeah. So that's my question
- 30:05to you guys is, when is that line drawn now?
- 30:08They say, you know, we expect players to uphold
- 30:11themselves in the right way, too. There's been
- 30:13a couple hot mic moments, you know, damn, dang
- 30:16well, that them players are not always respecting
- 30:19the refs either. So when is that line drawn,
- 30:21specifically on the Jeff Seaman thing where he...
- 30:24you know, cussed at Trey McBride. You know, that
- 30:28situation. Then we'll touch on the Viking one.
- 30:30I mean, I know exactly where it's drawn. There's
- 30:32a little yellow little flag on the back of their
- 30:34pocket, and whenever they feel like the coach
- 30:37has given them too much, they could. I mean,
- 30:39that's how they'll take until then. It is, you
- 30:44know, I think that's the threshold. But then
- 30:47my point. then, if that's the threshold, right,
- 30:50and you got thick skin, and that's fine, you
- 30:52know, whatever, you can take an earful from the
- 30:54coach, but, like, the minute a ref says one thing,
- 30:57now, said in a derogatory way, you know, but.
- 31:01The cameras caught him. Yeah. Right. The coach
- 31:03didn't turn him in. Correct. Or the player. Correct.
- 31:06Right. True. Correct. That is true. That is,
- 31:08they keep saying those words, too. The camera
- 31:11caught him. The camera. And the camera catching
- 31:13the coach. yelling at the ref is entertainment
- 31:17to us right well and the other the other and
- 31:21i appreciate that the refs are trying to be thick
- 31:24-skinned because these players they're in the
- 31:27moment they're being competitive oh for sure
- 31:29they're vocalizing their frustration so yeah
- 31:31there's going to be some obscenities thrown i
- 31:34i understand why a coach or a player is upset
- 31:39and why they're yelling at her there's there's
- 31:41like Hundreds of thousands of football fans that
- 31:46are watching television, they're probably screaming
- 31:48obscenities at these refs also that they're not
- 31:51that they're not hearing. So it's just it it's
- 31:55part of the environment that they're in and they
- 31:59should be able to absorb or take some of that.
- 32:03Now, I don't know and I haven't watched or really
- 32:07investigated what the interaction. was between
- 32:11the ref and Trey McBride that resulted in the
- 32:16ref swearing at him? He literally just went,
- 32:17F you. But did McBride say it? Yeah. What happened
- 32:20prior to that? There's two sides of the story.
- 32:23Yeah, of course. So we don't know. But is that
- 32:26different, saying F you at a person and like,
- 32:30that's a bad effing call? It's a little different
- 32:32because you're not, I mean, but I mean, you are
- 32:34still directing at the ref. That's a bad effing
- 32:36call. Or F you. I mean, is that the same thing
- 32:38to you? It depends on, again, I don't know what
- 32:42the situation was. And then to your point, it's
- 32:44the environment. Right. So maybe it is a valid
- 32:47response to be like, yeah, that was a bad effing
- 32:49call. Well, F you, I made it anyways. So carry
- 32:52on. Interesting. You do think two games is enough?
- 32:56Do you think it's too much for Mr. Jeff Seaman?
- 33:00Too much. Yeah. One should like one, just like
- 33:04whatever. Kind of lame. That's the NFL PM making
- 33:10a statement. Don't you, even though we need you
- 33:14guys to referee, don't you do it. The old NFL
- 33:16cameras. Was the other suspension, the ref that
- 33:19like retaliated against the Viking defender?
- 33:22Weird. Yeah. Like that one. I was like, okay.
- 33:25Yeah. Ref should get like suspended or at least
- 33:27talk to you. Cause that was just like, like when
- 33:30you watch it, you're like, what are you doing?
- 33:33Like, you obviously didn't see that he got blocked
- 33:36or pushed into the ref. He didn't do anything
- 33:40wrong. And why did you... I don't know. I don't
- 33:42see a player maliciously pushing a ref down that
- 33:45hard either, per se. I don't know. Even if you're
- 33:48so frustrated. Of all of the times that I've
- 33:50seen players bump into refs inadvertently, I've
- 33:54never seen a ref be like, no, don't touch me,
- 33:57when they're offering to help them back up or
- 33:59anything. Yeah, he was trying to help him get
- 34:01up, and he was like, no, and he got up and gave
- 34:02him the old Sophie Cunningham. You know what
- 34:04I mean? That was all awkward. It got up in his
- 34:06face. That was very awkward. That's all I'm going
- 34:08to say. So he's suspended for a game. Good. But,
- 34:12yeah, anyway, we haven't seen that in a long
- 34:14time. Thought it was interesting. We had to do
- 34:16a little. It was the first time in my life. Slight
- 34:18deep dive on that. Yeah, it was wild news. And
- 34:20then when the second one came, I was like, oh,
- 34:22my God, what is happening? But, anyway. Well,
- 34:25let's also throw out the thing. Most penalties
- 34:28in the history, the first four games. Through
- 34:31the first four weeks. Yeah, that's right. It's
- 34:33true. It's true. They need to tighten up their
- 34:37game. Because I feel like every week we've. Not
- 34:39even homer calls or anything. The Vikings are
- 34:41finally getting calls against them, though. The
- 34:43first few games, it was like three against them.
- 34:45We've gotten plenty of calls. It's all over the
- 34:48place. Now it's all over. I just want it more
- 34:51consistently across the board. I don't care.
- 34:53100 % agree. Just throwing that disclaimer out
- 34:56there. How many was it? It was a lot. Too many.
- 34:59Anyway, we've got to end this episode. This is
- 35:01probably the longest episode of Tent Talk. We've
- 35:04ever done. I said it a little fast there. I did
- 35:07say it a little fast there. Flock Doc, thanks
- 35:11for being here. Thanks for having me. Yeah, of
- 35:12course. We can't do tent talk without the Flock
- 35:15Doc. Wow, that was nice. Skol the ball, baby.
