Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: It's your early morning praise party. I am Sherri Mackey
- 0:03Speaker 1: and it's time right now for today's word, a heart
- 0:09Speaker 1: God can trust. Matthew 18, two and three in the
- 0:14Speaker 1: Amplified says, unless you repent and become like little children, trusting, lowly, forgiving, loving,
- 0:20Speaker 1: you can never enter the kingdom of heaven. Y'all, there's
- 0:25Speaker 1: something beautifully refreshing about children. They're not usually complicated. When
- 0:31Speaker 1: they're hungry, they'll tell you. When they're afraid, they'll reach
- 0:34Speaker 1: for you. When they love you, they don't spend hours
- 0:37Speaker 1: wondering whether they show it. They simply run into your arms.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Children have a way of trusting without needing all the answers.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Jesus said there's something about that kind of childlike faith
- 0:52Speaker 1: that we need in our relationship with God. Notice, he
- 0:58Speaker 1: didn't say that we have to become childish. He said
- 1:01Speaker 1: that we must become like little children. There's a difference.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Childishness is immature, but childlike faith is humble, it's trusting,
- 1:11Speaker 1: it's sincere, and it's dependent on God. Children understand something
- 1:16Speaker 1: that adults often forget. They don't have to carry everything themselves.
- 1:22Speaker 1: When a child is frightened, guess what? They run to
- 1:24Speaker 1: their parents. When they're confused, they ask questions. When they fall,
- 1:29Speaker 1: they expect somebody to help them get back up. What
- 1:33Speaker 1: if that's how God wants you to approach him? You
- 1:36Speaker 1: don't have to have the perfect words. You don't have
- 1:39Speaker 1: to pretend that everything is okay when it isn't. You
- 1:42Speaker 1: don't have to hide your disappointments, your fears, your questions,
- 1:46Speaker 1: or even your tears. God already knows what's in your heart.
- 1:51Speaker 1: He simply wants you to bring it to him. Philippians 4,
- 1:55Speaker 1: 6 reminds us to bring our requests to God through
- 1:58Speaker 1: prayer and thanksgiving. Psalms 91 reminds us that we can
- 2:02Speaker 1: dwell in the secret place of the most high and
- 2:05Speaker 1: find safety in his presence. So talk to God. Tell
- 2:09Speaker 1: him what you need. Tell him what's hurt. Tell him
- 2:12Speaker 1: what scares you. Tell him what you're hoping for, and
- 2:16Speaker 1: then thank him for what he's already done. And when
- 2:20Speaker 1: life becomes overwhelming, run into his presence instead of running
- 2:25Speaker 1: away from him. A child doesn't stop loving their parent
- 2:29Speaker 1: because they don't understand what the parent is doing. In
- 2:32Speaker 1: the same way, we can trust God even when we
- 2:35Speaker 1: don't understand his plan. Maybe life has taught you to
- 2:39Speaker 1: be guarded. Maybe disappointment has made it difficult to trust.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Maybe you've been hurt by people who promised they would
- 2:47Speaker 1: be there, but they weren't. But God is not like people.
- 2:52Speaker 1: You can trust him with your heart. You can trust
- 2:55Speaker 1: him with your future. You can trust him with the
- 2:58Speaker 1: things you can't fix. Today, let go of the need
- 3:03Speaker 1: to have everything figured out. Come to God with simplicity.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Come honestly, come humbly, come with expectation. Your father is
- 3:12Speaker 1: waiting for you to run into his arms. Oh, Father God,
- 3:18Speaker 1: teach us to trust you with childlike faith. Help us
- 3:21Speaker 1: to release the need to understand everything and give us
- 3:25Speaker 1: the courage to simply trust your heart. When we're afraid,
- 3:28Speaker 1: remind us to run to you. When we're confused, teach
- 3:31Speaker 1: us to seek your wisdom. When we're hurting, help us
- 3:34Speaker 1: to open our hearts instead of building walls. Give us
- 3:38Speaker 1: faith that is humble, sincere, loving, forgiving, and completely God
- 3:43Speaker 1: dependent upon you. Help us to grow closer to you
- 3:46Speaker 1: every day and never forget that we are safe in
- 3:49Speaker 1: your care in Jesus name. That's your word for today.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Take it, apply it to your everyday life and you
- 3:54Speaker 1: continue to be encouraged and inspired. It's your early morning
- 3:58Speaker 1: praise party. I am Sherri Mackie.
