- 0:15Speaker 1: Hey, everybody. Welcome to you Girls Gone Hallmark. I'm Megan,
- 0:17Speaker 1: I'm Wendy, and today we are discussing a magical Christmas
- 0:21Speaker 1: village from Hallmarks Countdown to Christmas line Up. If you
- 0:24Speaker 1: want to hang with Wendy and I outside of the podcast,
- 0:26Speaker 1: you can do that in lots of places. You can
- 0:28Speaker 1: join us on Instagram and TikTok and Twitter where we
- 0:32Speaker 1: are at Megan and Wendy. We also love your emails
- 0:37Speaker 1: Megan and Wendy at gmail dot com. Or you can
- 0:40Speaker 1: join our Girls Gone Hallmark Facebook group. It's poppin'. It's
- 0:46Speaker 1: just gonna use that exactly you're gonna say it's poppin'.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I was gonna say it's popping off. Get out. Sometimes
- 0:51Speaker 1: I'm scared of you. It is a really great engaged
- 0:59Speaker 1: group of homes for sure. I get so excited every
- 1:02Speaker 1: time we get a new joint request. I know. And
- 1:05Speaker 1: fun fact, when you request to join our group, it'll
- 1:09Speaker 1: tell us how many other Facebook groups you're in, and
- 1:12Speaker 1: I can like hover over that and see and sometimes
- 1:14Speaker 1: people are like one or two, sometimes people are in
- 1:16Speaker 1: like two hundred. Yeah. I like just I get I
- 1:20Speaker 1: like to get a little sense of people of who
- 1:22Speaker 1: they are based on the Facebook groups they're in, And
- 1:26Speaker 1: I would just like to say that I do believe
- 1:28Speaker 1: that the people in our Facebook group, based on their
- 1:30Speaker 1: other Facebook group memberships, are our people. Oh nice, good good.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I was like a little afraid, Like for a second,
- 1:38Speaker 1: I was like, what other groups do I belong to
- 1:40Speaker 1: that people are looking at as well? You don't have
- 1:43Speaker 1: anything to be worried about, as long as it's not
- 1:46Speaker 1: like Kanye West fangroup, thank you very much, Okay. I
- 1:50Speaker 1: was trying to find something I think that is acceptably
- 1:53Speaker 1: universally controversial. Yes, okay, do our members belong to other
- 1:57Speaker 1: Hallmark fan groups? I sure think of them do I'm
- 2:00Speaker 1: sure they do. For sure, I'm sure they do. Moving
- 2:03Speaker 1: on up top with some Hallmark news and notes, Yes,
- 2:08Speaker 1: we got a big one. Yeah, it's the Peacock Hallmark
- 2:13Speaker 1: collab collab. Yes. First of all, when I heard this,
- 2:18Speaker 1: I was like, on one hand, like super excited, like
- 2:21Speaker 1: that's a big get for Hallmark Channel or Hallmark Media
- 2:24Speaker 1: or whatever. Yeah, just because then more people have access
- 2:27Speaker 1: to these jerveys. But on the other hand, I'm like,
- 2:30Speaker 1: I really love the friendly app. Yeah, and of like
- 2:33Speaker 1: elements of it, so I don't know. But I'm already
- 2:37Speaker 1: also a Peacock subscriber, so I don't know what I'm
- 2:39Speaker 1: going to do. Well, that was our discussion as soon
- 2:43Speaker 1: as we heard about it. What are we going to do?
- 2:45Speaker 1: I will tell you right now my decision as a
- 2:48Speaker 1: Hallmark podcaster, not as a viewer. I will keep the
- 2:53Speaker 1: Friendly app because Friendly has its best feature is it's
- 2:56Speaker 1: twenty four hour look back, and which means if for
- 3:00Speaker 1: listeners who are unfamiliar, I can scroll back seventy two
- 3:02Speaker 1: hours in the guide and instantly record anything that has
- 3:04Speaker 1: already aired. I love that so much, so if I
- 3:07Speaker 1: forget to record something that we need to watch, I
- 3:10Speaker 1: can get it that way. Peacock does not have a DVR, No,
- 3:13Speaker 1: it does not. They do have live streaming of all
- 3:15Speaker 1: the Hallmark channels, and they have an on demand library
- 3:20Speaker 1: and new movies are available on demand, but only for
- 3:22Speaker 1: seventy two hours. Yeah, that's kind of a drag. I
- 3:25Speaker 1: feel like it should at least be a week, at
- 3:27Speaker 1: least be this season, like have a countdown to Christmas
- 3:31Speaker 1: hub on Peacock, right, But I think it's not unusual
- 3:36Speaker 1: for channels to take new releases away after a week
- 3:40Speaker 1: because then they can get the re airing, et cetera. Yeah,
- 3:44Speaker 1: but three days feels too short, particularly when we're getting
- 3:48Speaker 1: four movies a weekend often. Yeah, so I agree. Well,
- 3:52Speaker 1: I will tell you I did watch one of these
- 3:54Speaker 1: movies this weekend on Peacock, and what I liked about
- 3:57Speaker 1: it is that the commercials like front loaded, like you
- 4:00Speaker 1: watched I think it was one hundred and forty five
- 4:03Speaker 1: seconds of commercials. Okay, Like you know when you normally
- 4:06Speaker 1: watch Peacock and there'll be commercial and it has like
- 4:08Speaker 1: a countdown, yeah, and the commercials will be over. That's
- 4:11Speaker 1: what it was like at the very beginning. And so
- 4:13Speaker 1: to watch the movie from start to finish without any
- 4:16Speaker 1: interruptions was pretty great. I thought that is nice because
- 4:20Speaker 1: when I watch on their friendly Apple, I'm always like
- 4:22Speaker 1: tap tap tap ten second tap tap tap through commercials. Yes,
- 4:25Speaker 1: it drives me crazy. That is nice that they're front loaded,
- 4:28Speaker 1: and that's when you're watching on demand, that you can
- 4:30Speaker 1: do it that way. I would imagine Live has commercials.
- 4:34Speaker 1: I watched on demand, Yes, Live, I don't know. I don't.
- 4:39Speaker 1: I have to assume it's whatever the Hallmark channel commercials are. Yeah,
- 4:42Speaker 1: I don't. I'm I don't know. So my feeling about
- 4:46Speaker 1: how the Peacock acquisition has been that I think it's
- 4:48Speaker 1: a good thing. It's not. It's not. It's good but
- 4:51Speaker 1: not great. It's another option if you already have Peacock
- 4:55Speaker 1: and you don't have another way to watch Hallmark, it's there.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I don't think it's the best Hallmark streaming option, but
- 5:01Speaker 1: it is another one. Okay, all right, are you ready
- 5:06Speaker 1: to talk about a Magical Christmas Village? Let's hear a synopsis. Okay.
- 5:11Speaker 1: A Magical Christmas Village premiered November fourth, twenty twenty two,
- 5:17Speaker 1: and here is it's synopsis. A Christmas Village brings the
- 5:20Speaker 1: magic of Christmas to the lives of Summer and her family,
- 5:24Speaker 1: healing old wounds and bringing new love to Summer and
- 5:27Speaker 1: her family. I mean, how repetitive is that I copy
- 5:30Speaker 1: and pasted it. I did know this lot. I did
- 5:33Speaker 1: not write that myself. Anyway. It starts Allison, So we
- 5:37Speaker 1: meet Luke McFarland and Marlow Thomas. So this had big
- 5:42Speaker 1: debut numbers, oh at two point one two million on
- 5:46Speaker 1: its debut, and it is the first Countdown to Christmas
- 5:49Speaker 1: movie to break into Hallmark's top ten of twenty twenty two. Now,
- 5:53Speaker 1: the question is, did Peacock contribute to this? Oh? Because
- 5:57Speaker 1: this was our first weekend where Peacock, Yeah was an option? Yeah,
- 6:03Speaker 1: because I think Peacock started like last Wednesday. So yeah,
- 6:07Speaker 1: this is the first like premiere weekend. Oh yeah, interesting hmm. Interesting.
- 6:12Speaker 1: As of this recording, the numbers for the other shows
- 6:16Speaker 1: that aired this weekend, the other Hallmark movies are not out,
- 6:19Speaker 1: so I can't compare. But it did do well. It
- 6:22Speaker 1: did do better than the same movie, same day, same
- 6:25Speaker 1: weekend last year, so we're heading in the right direction. Yeah.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Melissa Salmon's wrote the screenplay for this. She has thirteen
- 6:36Speaker 1: writing credits, including Christmas at Holly Lodge, The Irresisible Blueberry Farm,
- 6:42Speaker 1: and Murder She Baked, all starring Ali Sweeney Oi Sweeney.
- 6:46Speaker 1: She also wrote one hundred and fourteen episodes of Days
- 6:48Speaker 1: of Our Lives from twenty twelve to twenty sixteen. Guessing
- 6:51Speaker 1: some of those also include Alie Sweeney. We should ask
- 6:54Speaker 1: my friend who works for Days. Yes, Melissa Salmon, you
- 6:57Speaker 1: absolutely should. And we know that Luke has said that
- 7:00Speaker 1: this is likely his last Hallmark movie. We've discussed this
- 7:03Speaker 1: in the past. I have a question for you, is
- 7:06Speaker 1: this quote from Luke McFarlane Shade. It says, I think
- 7:10Speaker 1: Hallmark is a place where, you know, they give lots
- 7:12Speaker 1: of opportunities to people. They gave me an openly gay
- 7:15Speaker 1: actor an opportunity to star as always a straight dude.
- 7:18Speaker 1: So that was really cool of them as always a
- 7:20Speaker 1: straight dude is at the Shade. Yeah, that was really cool.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Though that's one hundred person. They let me a gay
- 7:29Speaker 1: person pretend to be straight. Wow. Oh that was to
- 7:33Speaker 1: People magazine. Was he did he go to the Countdown
- 7:38Speaker 1: to Christmas premiere thing at Radio City Music hall insta
- 7:44Speaker 1: because I wonder if you just give Homewark the big fu.
- 7:49Speaker 1: There are no photos of him on his Instagram at
- 7:53Speaker 1: the Radio City Music element. Did he promote this movie
- 7:55Speaker 1: on his Instagram? Yes, there's a photo of him with
- 7:58Speaker 1: Alie Sweeney as his most recent there's it's like the
- 8:02Speaker 1: actual promo photo, and then there's a photo of he
- 8:05Speaker 1: and Ali Sweeney doing some audio work. Yeah. I saw
- 8:09Speaker 1: that too, But to be fair, there's only like a
- 8:11Speaker 1: couple photos promoting bros. It's not like there's fifty bros.
- 8:14Speaker 1: And speaking of brose, yeah, It's available right now to
- 8:18Speaker 1: rent online via Amazon. Oh yes, and Rolling Stone reported
- 8:22Speaker 1: that I will likely be free to stream on Peacock
- 8:24Speaker 1: in the next few weeks. Oh I might wait. Yeah,
- 8:27Speaker 1: just wait. Also, according to I am dB, McFarlane will
- 8:31Speaker 1: star in a comedy on Apple TV called Platonic. It
- 8:35Speaker 1: also stars Rosebyurne and Seth Rogan. Nice h, that's a
- 8:40Speaker 1: I think that's a big gat. Go let Farland go.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I know, I'm happy for him, especially after like bros
- 8:46Speaker 1: kind of didn't do great at the theater. Yeah. Yeah,
- 8:50Speaker 1: I'm still rooting for him. Yes, he remains a wowie zowie,
- 8:53Speaker 1: even if he's no longer a homewark style. I agree.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I agree. Marlo Thomas was in this. She was. She
- 9:00Speaker 1: has fifty four acting credits. She was last seen in
- 9:03Speaker 1: twenty eighteen's Oceans eight. Did you see that? I think
- 9:07Speaker 1: that's why I haven't seen the Ladies. The Lady's only
- 9:11Speaker 1: kind of one. I haven't for that one. Maybe in that.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Of course, we know her as the fundraising force for
- 9:18Speaker 1: Saint Jude's Children's Research Caspit always a commercial with her
- 9:22Speaker 1: in it. I know my husband goes, what's she and
- 9:24Speaker 1: I go with the Saint Jude commercials goes. That's it.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Fun fact. Did you know she played Rachel's mom on Friends?
- 9:32Speaker 1: Now that you say that, that you that rings a bell?
- 9:34Speaker 1: I had totally forgotten to tag under IMDb. Now, speaking
- 9:38Speaker 1: of IMDb, I just want to note here that there
- 9:40Speaker 1: were some very unkind comments about Marlo Thomas in the
- 9:46Speaker 1: reviews of this movie. Yeah, and specifically the work she's
- 9:52Speaker 1: had done. Yes, and I'm like, the woman's eighty five
- 9:57Speaker 1: years old. Let her do aba five years old. Just
- 10:02Speaker 1: let it be, let her go, let her do whatever
- 10:05Speaker 1: she wants to do. I agree, like, let's just not
- 10:08Speaker 1: talk about like how people look, but keep that out
- 10:13Speaker 1: of your reviews. If keep me out of your reviews,
- 10:15Speaker 1: it's not gonna be in our review I just know.
- 10:18Speaker 1: My point was just I wanted to comment about the comments. Yes,
- 10:22Speaker 1: you know, I don't know how to say this girl's name.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Oh is it? Yeah? I would say Mesa. Mason Nicholson
- 10:29Speaker 1: plays the daughter Chloe. She has three acting credits on IMDb,
- 10:33Speaker 1: all for Hallmark Channel and all from twenty twenty two,
- 10:36Speaker 1: including North to Home and Curious Caterer Dying for Chocolate.
- 10:41Speaker 1: You know of the movies that were reviewing today. There's
- 10:43Speaker 1: lots of callbacks to North to Home, which is a
- 10:45Speaker 1: movie that was very well reviewed. I still have not
- 10:49Speaker 1: seen it. I have it recorded. I need I need
- 10:52Speaker 1: to watch it. I think I need, because Kimberly says Dad,
- 10:55Speaker 1: who's in another review. We're recording today and will be
- 10:57Speaker 1: out this week. Friends was also in that was filmed
- 11:00Speaker 1: in Vancouver. Post production wrapped in late September. Oh, kid, dookey.
- 11:06Speaker 1: You ready for a first impression? We I am? I
- 11:09Speaker 1: am you what what? I think? I have a good one? Go.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Luke McFarlane deserved a better Hallmark send off, and I said, honestly,
- 11:19Speaker 1: you should probably watch the Christmas Calendar on Netflix. I'm
- 11:22Speaker 1: guessing that's aw Luke McFarland movie, No movie, you know
- 11:26Speaker 1: a similar movie. It's a movie where this girl I
- 11:31Speaker 1: think from her grandfather, receives an advent calendar and every
- 11:34Speaker 1: day when she opens the calendar, there's an item in
- 11:37Speaker 1: there that has something to do with something's going to
- 11:39Speaker 1: happen later that. Oh that's cute. Okay, so no, this
- 11:42Speaker 1: that's interesting. You bring that up because down in my notes,
- 11:45Speaker 1: I'm scrolling here, I'm scrolling here, I wrote, am I
- 11:48Speaker 1: having deja vu about seeing a Hallmark movie kind of
- 11:51Speaker 1: like this where there's somebody who's like controlling the things
- 11:54Speaker 1: that are is happening like that? I don't know, Like
- 11:58Speaker 1: in my mind, I picture like a girl playing with
- 12:02Speaker 1: a dollhouse and I can see her like moving the things,
- 12:06Speaker 1: Like is this movie somebody has seen? That sound sounds familiar?
- 12:10Speaker 1: Please email us and Wendy at gmail dot com. I
- 12:13Speaker 1: just sound like this total vision and maybe it was
- 12:17Speaker 1: a scary movie because it sounds it does sound scary.
- 12:20Speaker 1: I like your movie suggestion. I might. I might check
- 12:24Speaker 1: that out. It's a better, a better, it's a better.
- 12:27Speaker 1: All right, let's talk about what you did like? Okay, Well,
- 12:30Speaker 1: what did I like? I love Alie Sweeney, I love
- 12:33Speaker 1: Luke McFarlane. I think they're a nice pairing. I think
- 12:35Speaker 1: they're very comfortable together on screen. I enjoyed them as
- 12:41Speaker 1: a pair. I enjoyed them individually. So I didn't enjoy
- 12:44Speaker 1: about this movie, but I think they are a boon
- 12:48Speaker 1: to this movie. M okay for me. The story was
- 12:52Speaker 1: all over the board. Uh huh. I like the story
- 12:55Speaker 1: idea of the magical Christmas Village. Yes, I like this
- 12:58Speaker 1: story idea of the free, speir aging mom who desperately
- 13:01Speaker 1: needs her daughter to step in. And I like the
- 13:03Speaker 1: story of Summer and Ryan meeting and having shared interests.
- 13:05Speaker 1: But I didn't like those three stories all in this movie,
- 13:08Speaker 1: Like it did not work together for me. Oh, I
- 13:11Speaker 1: thought there was too much going on. As I was
- 13:13Speaker 1: driving my children to school this morning, I was sitting
- 13:15Speaker 1: thinking about my thoughts about these movies, and I was thinking,
- 13:18Speaker 1: there's there's too much happening. And then I was thinking,
- 13:22Speaker 1: we as a Hallmark viewer, always talk about how we
- 13:26Speaker 1: can handle deeper stuff, we can handle, we can handle
- 13:28Speaker 1: more from Hallmark. And so I thought, am I Am
- 13:31Speaker 1: I being unfair saying this is too much? I just
- 13:33Speaker 1: thought it was too much. It's just too many. There
- 13:36Speaker 1: was not a focus. It was like, what am I
- 13:39Speaker 1: supposed to care about in this way? Am I supposed
- 13:42Speaker 1: to be really worried about her mom? Am I supposed
- 13:45Speaker 1: to be super invested in their relationship? Am I supposed
- 13:47Speaker 1: to be all in on her career? Yeah? I feel
- 13:50Speaker 1: the same way. I think I wish. I wish they
- 13:53Speaker 1: would have leaned hard, right, I know, But we're's too
- 13:55Speaker 1: soon for wish. Oh, Yeah, it is too soon for wish,
- 13:59Speaker 1: but it's in my okay, Okay, it's disconnected. I wish
- 14:03Speaker 1: they would have leaned in harder on the like magical
- 14:06Speaker 1: Christmas village thing. Yes, that was like such a throwaway, yes,
- 14:10Speaker 1: and it just it. It just would have made the
- 14:15Speaker 1: movie more magical. I don't feel like they invested well
- 14:21Speaker 1: enough in the title of the movie. They didn't. They
- 14:25Speaker 1: didn't flush that out well enough for me. One other
- 14:28Speaker 1: thing I liked, Do we have a Hallmark kid even
- 14:29Speaker 1: you can't hate? This is her? Chloe? She was great. Yeah,
- 14:33Speaker 1: I really liked her. I did too. Wendy famously is
- 14:36Speaker 1: not typically a fan of children in these Hallmark movies,
- 14:39Speaker 1: but I thought Chloe was a great supporting character. I
- 14:42Speaker 1: enjoyed her, Yes, I did. Okay. I thought she was
- 14:46Speaker 1: a natural teenager. Yes, very reminiscent of my own teenacher like.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I thought she nailed it. I thought the kiss between
- 14:54Speaker 1: Ryan and Summer was nice, did you I don't know.
- 14:57Speaker 1: At the end, uh they were. It wasn't like fool
- 15:00Speaker 1: fully at the end. It was near the end and
- 15:03Speaker 1: the sister's like taken photos of them kissing. That's what
- 15:06Speaker 1: I was gonna mention, Like everybody was watching, was like
- 15:08Speaker 1: filming it with their camera, which I thought was weird.
- 15:11Speaker 1: They're not celebrities, he's not proposing. It was just was weird,
- 15:15Speaker 1: but I thought it was funny. Spoiler alert. I didn't
- 15:19Speaker 1: really like this movie, and so I have to feel
- 15:21Speaker 1: like I have to contrast some of my comments with
- 15:23Speaker 1: the like, this was kind of cute, but uh huh,
- 15:25Speaker 1: I wish they would have done this here. So right
- 15:28Speaker 1: prior to this kiss, I was embarrassed for summer. She's
- 15:33Speaker 1: like pleading with this man to stay and have a
- 15:35Speaker 1: relationship with her, and I was like, you just met
- 15:38Speaker 1: him a week ago. Stop at Like you're coming off
- 15:41Speaker 1: so desperate right now, And what indication did he give
- 15:45Speaker 1: her throughout this whole movie that like he was really
- 15:47Speaker 1: that inver? Okay, So this is what's really hard for
- 15:50Speaker 1: this review because it's normally you break it down to
- 15:52Speaker 1: like what we liked, what we wished for, and I
- 15:54Speaker 1: just have a lot of quibbles with this movie. I
- 15:55Speaker 1: just have a lot of And one of those things
- 15:57Speaker 1: is am I really supposed to root for this relationship
- 16:00Speaker 1: that only happens when the daughter places their two little
- 16:02Speaker 1: plastic counterparts together, Because in every other moment when the
- 16:06Speaker 1: daughter wasn't manufacturing these situations. He's like, gotta go by,
- 16:11Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden, the daughter's like, I'm
- 16:13Speaker 1: gonna put them together, and he goes, actually, would you
- 16:15Speaker 1: like to have dinner? What? There is a different way
- 16:21Speaker 1: they could have done this? If I get to stop
- 16:24Speaker 1: you there? Okay? Can we go on to our wish
- 16:26Speaker 1: for sure? Yeah? I got nothing else because I wish
- 16:29Speaker 1: for a completely different ending to this movie. Okay, and
- 16:32Speaker 1: let me do you want to hear how my version
- 16:33Speaker 1: would be. She puts them on the ice and they
- 16:35Speaker 1: fall through and that's the end. We never see them again. No,
- 16:38Speaker 1: but it does have something to do with what you're
- 16:40Speaker 1: mentioned of, like the daughter manipulating the scenes. Okay, are
- 16:43Speaker 1: you ready? I am? I am. Ryan's back in town
- 16:46Speaker 1: visiting his brother. A recent divorce has left him a
- 16:49Speaker 1: little hesitant to pursue other relationships. Right, This happens in
- 16:52Speaker 1: the movie, but he's a people person, talks up everyone
- 16:55Speaker 1: he meets. Summer nothing changes from the original story. She
- 16:57Speaker 1: is who she is. She's dealing with being a single
- 16:59Speaker 1: mom and her hippie dippy mom, and the daughter still
- 17:04Speaker 1: plays with the magical Christmas village, and she's creating all
- 17:07Speaker 1: these scenarios for Summer and Ryan to interact. Summer is
- 17:10Speaker 1: attracted to Ryan and enjoys that they spend time together,
- 17:15Speaker 1: but he's hot and cold with her, and she can't
- 17:17Speaker 1: figure out why. Mm hmm. He even realizes that he
- 17:21Speaker 1: might be giving her mixed signals, but can't figure out
- 17:24Speaker 1: why it keeps happening. Spoil alert. It's the Magical Village, right,
- 17:27Speaker 1: The daughter is making this happen. When Summer finally confronts
- 17:32Speaker 1: Ryan with her feelings, he shook because he thought she
- 17:35Speaker 1: knew he was into dudes. Oh that's how Luke MacFarlane
- 17:41Speaker 1: leaves Hallmark. I just got chilled. That is a better movie.
- 17:47Speaker 1: I mean, do you see how it could have played out?
- 17:51Speaker 1: It could have been like kind of funny, Like he's
- 17:54Speaker 1: like in all those scenes, he's like, bye, I'll see
- 17:57Speaker 1: you later, and then like turns around and goes, hey,
- 17:59Speaker 1: let's have dinner. Like, yes, that's happening because the daughter
- 18:02Speaker 1: is doing that. But he's confused too because he just
- 18:07Speaker 1: wants to be friends with her. Yeah. Yeah, And I
- 18:11Speaker 1: honestly thought that's how this movie was going to go
- 18:13Speaker 1: because he was very vague about like his divorce. He
- 18:17Speaker 1: never said, and I rewinded it. He never said, like
- 18:20Speaker 1: he divorced Emily and whatever, And I was like, is
- 18:25Speaker 1: he going to be like I was in a relationship
- 18:27Speaker 1: with another man? And I mean, it's okay to me.
- 18:32Speaker 1: It might have been a Hallmarks Movies and Mysteries movie
- 18:35Speaker 1: if this was the case. Uh huh, But it would
- 18:38Speaker 1: be okay if there's not a love connection. There's not
- 18:41Speaker 1: a love connection, and the lead Ali Sweeney misreads the cues. Yes,
- 18:46Speaker 1: she can still be attracted to a man who's not
- 18:48Speaker 1: into women. I like your take on it. A couple
- 18:52Speaker 1: other things that I wished for. I wish we could
- 18:54Speaker 1: break the cycle of the Christmas Eve opening event. I'm
- 18:56Speaker 1: not going to that. Nobody's going to that, and everyone's busy.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Don't have your big grand opening on Christmas Eve. That's dumb.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Please email us if you go to something that's not
- 19:04Speaker 1: a family event. You're not going to the grand opening
- 19:07Speaker 1: of this shopping center in town. Nobody nobody wants to
- 19:11Speaker 1: work on Christmas Eve. Nobody wants to like walk around
- 19:14Speaker 1: casually shopping and having light bites. I just no, stop,
- 19:19Speaker 1: that's a that's a bail December first, Thanksgiving weekend. Yeah,
- 19:24Speaker 1: for sure, for sure. Okay. The other is the mom
- 19:30Speaker 1: in this movie drove me, Banana. She's the worst. She
- 19:34Speaker 1: is the worst, And I feel like we are supposed
- 19:38Speaker 1: to root for her, and we're supposed to see Ali
- 19:40Speaker 1: Sweeney as this like rigid character and me like I
- 19:43Speaker 1: most relate to Ali Sweeney's character. Ali Sweeney shows up
- 19:46Speaker 1: and she's like, I'm pack up, take me somewhere. Where
- 19:50Speaker 1: are you gonna go? Mom? Yeah? Where are you gonna go?
- 19:52Speaker 1: So frustrating, Oh, I guess you'll come to my house.
- 19:55Speaker 1: And the mom says like, just let the universe bring
- 19:58Speaker 1: it to you. At the end, when she's magically discovered
- 20:02Speaker 1: her husband's lost pension and oh her other daughter has
- 20:06Speaker 1: money that she can use for a down payment that
- 20:08Speaker 1: she's going to work off in babysitting. No, this mom
- 20:12Speaker 1: is so annoying, like the bow is too neat. Yeah
- 20:17Speaker 1: at the end, yes, Yeah, the mom drove me and Bananas.
- 20:21Speaker 1: I found her so unlikable and she's so mean. She
- 20:24Speaker 1: was mean. She was not nice to her grandchildren, the
- 20:29Speaker 1: other daughter's children, like she was when she was like
- 20:32Speaker 1: criticizing her artwork or whatever. Anyway, I found her to
- 20:36Speaker 1: be very frustrating, and I was like, what was most
- 20:39Speaker 1: frustrating is that she never recognized that her daughter had
- 20:42Speaker 1: like given up so much to like help take care
- 20:46Speaker 1: of her, like post divorce, right, and she was just
- 20:50Speaker 1: always like shitty on the daughter, and the daughter's trying
- 20:52Speaker 1: to like give her like a life again, like let's
- 20:55Speaker 1: find you a home, like so you don't live here,
- 20:57Speaker 1: And it's not like she didn't want the mom in
- 20:59Speaker 1: the house, but she didn't want the mom in the house.
- 21:01Speaker 1: The mom's like, I don't need you meddling, don't you
- 21:04Speaker 1: don't don't you? Where would you have gone if your
- 21:07Speaker 1: daughter hadn't shown up and brought you back to her home? Totally?
- 21:10Speaker 1: But I think that could have been a movie all
- 21:11Speaker 1: on its own, one hundred percent. That should have been
- 21:15Speaker 1: a movie's and mysteries movie of the two daughters trying
- 21:18Speaker 1: to solve this problem with their mother and the conflict
- 21:22Speaker 1: there and how did they resolve that? I love, yes, right,
- 21:28Speaker 1: do you have any did you see that a couple? Okay, first,
- 21:32Speaker 1: I have a tweet from Hallmark Snark, which actually had
- 21:35Speaker 1: a lot of funny things to say about this movie,
- 21:38Speaker 1: says Honestly, I need more magic scenes from the Christmas
- 21:41Speaker 1: Village or for this movie to end with them jumping
- 21:43Speaker 1: into it like Beetlejuice. From what I have gathered on
- 21:50Speaker 1: the internet, a lot of people did not like this movie. No, no, no, no, no.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I agree, I have a question. Yes, it was a
- 21:56Speaker 1: little confusing to me. But when Chloe meets Ryan at
- 22:00Speaker 1: the very end, she freaks out. She's like, that's him,
- 22:03Speaker 1: that's the guy. Why is she freaking out because he
- 22:05Speaker 1: looks just like her? Yes, okay, he's got the garb
- 22:09Speaker 1: on like her little Victorian Christmas village dude. Okay. So
- 22:13Speaker 1: she's like, oh my gosh, I manifested this. Okay, yeah,
- 22:18Speaker 1: it's silly. Okay. Why is this building that Alie Sweeney
- 22:23Speaker 1: is renovating fully decorated for Christmas in the middle of
- 22:26Speaker 1: a construction zone. She's like, why was Christmas Christmas tree?
- 22:29Speaker 1: And then they say like, oh, we need to move
- 22:31Speaker 1: the tree. Yeah you do, it's in the middle of
- 22:32Speaker 1: the room. And she goes, oh, I'll just undecorate it
- 22:34Speaker 1: really quickly and we'll move it. It doesn't make any sense.
- 22:40Speaker 1: I have a couple of husband comments yes, and there
- 22:44Speaker 1: was a new segment at least during counts down a
- 22:46Speaker 1: Christmas he watches. So when he's watching with me, occasionally
- 22:50Speaker 1: we get a gym. The sisters are together and the
- 22:52Speaker 1: children are together, and there's something they're doing with like
- 22:55Speaker 1: a black ribbon, because they're like, you know, some time
- 22:58Speaker 1: to show like your feelings are dark. Okay, I don't
- 23:00Speaker 1: remember exactly. He goes, no feelings, no black ribbon. And
- 23:04Speaker 1: while we're at it, get rid of the blue ornaments.
- 23:07Speaker 1: He hated Ali Sweeney's home deck coorse, Oh he did.
- 23:11Speaker 1: And then to that same point, the daughter is like
- 23:13Speaker 1: working over the village and she goes, I wish for
- 23:17Speaker 1: my husband, goes no decoration, new decorations. This is not
- 23:25Speaker 1: a win in our house. Oh boy, all right, boy,
- 23:28Speaker 1: are you ready to rate this? Bad boy? I am?
- 23:33Speaker 1: Do you want to go first? I think I want
- 23:36Speaker 1: to change my rating? Oh okay, two stars? Okay. I
- 23:40Speaker 1: love Ali and I love Luke. A star for them, eah,
- 23:42Speaker 1: two stars nine. Other than that, it was not good.
- 23:47Speaker 1: I'm sorry. No, I had three, and I'm thinking, no,
- 23:50Speaker 1: this was not a three star movie. This is a
- 23:53Speaker 1: busy week on Girls Gone Hamewark. In addition to a
