- 0:13Speaker 2: The RNC were called about three separate break-ins between 4
- 0:17Speaker 2: and 4.15 Saturday morning. After responding to the first incident,
- 0:21Speaker 2: police discovered a single vehicle crash along the same stretch
- 0:24Speaker 2: of road. They say the abandoned vehicle, which had been
- 0:28Speaker 2: reported stolen... fled from police after they tried to pull
- 0:31Speaker 2: it over earlier in the night. It was believed that
- 0:34Speaker 2: the driver was the same suspect from the break-and-enter. During
- 0:37Speaker 2: the third break-in, there was a physical altercation after which
- 0:41Speaker 2: the suspect fled on the homeowner's bike. The victim suffered
- 0:45Speaker 2: minor injuries. Police dogs were used to track the suspect
- 0:48Speaker 2: to Robert E. Howlett Drive, where the man was arrested
- 0:51Speaker 2: after a brief struggle. Police say the suspect, who showed
- 0:55Speaker 2: signs of impairment, initially provided them with a fake name,
- 0:59Speaker 2: but was later identified as 31-year-old Christopher Connors.

- 1:07Speaker 1: which they just recently expanded due to staffing shortages. VOCM's

- 1:13Speaker 3: Additional service was added to routes 9, 11, 18, and
- 1:17Speaker 3: 23 last month to help achieve a 30-minute minimum service

- 1:47Speaker 1: The federal government has pretty much shut the door on
- 1:50Speaker 1: any new pharmacare players, but Newfoundland and Labrador says they're
- 1:53Speaker 1: ready to talk should Ottawa go back to its original
- 1:56Speaker 1: intent for the program. Four provinces recently signed on to
- 1:59Speaker 1: the federal subsidy on some contraceptives and diabetes drugs, but
- 2:04Speaker 1: Newfoundland and Labrador was not one of them. Now the
- 2:07Speaker 1: Carnegie government has publicly said it's not interested in pursuing
- 2:10Speaker 1: any new deals. Health Minister Jody Wall says that he
- 2:13Speaker 1: would be interested in sitting down at the table.
- 2:16Speaker 4: This lies solely with the Fed, so I'm always open
- 2:18Speaker 4: to having conversations with the federal government. I believe the
- 2:22Speaker 4: people of our province of Newfoundland and Labrador want the
- 2:24Speaker 4: provincial and federal governments to work closely together.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador is welcoming the exposure given to
- 2:30Speaker 1: the province through the promotion of a new Netflix series
- 2:34Speaker 1: launched this week. A massive digital billboard in Times Square
- 2:37Speaker 1: in New York City is advertising the series below and
- 2:39Speaker 1: reads like a tourism ad, inviting people to visit Newfoundland
- 2:42Speaker 1: and Labrador, featuring a rugged fisherman played by actor Josh Hartnett.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Juanita Ford of Hospitality NL says the publicity is an
- 2:51Speaker 1: invaluable source to the local tourism industry.
- 2:55Speaker 4: I mean, there's such value in that earned media and
- 2:57Speaker 4: stuff you can't really probably go out and buy directly
- 3:00Speaker 4: because the influencer status.
- 3:03Speaker 1: And that's your news. I'm Zach Power.
