- 2:55It has been a crazy, crazy weekend.
- 2:58There was a lot of rain. There was a little bit of snow,
- 3:01and now it's just plain old cold, which I like.
- 3:05But yesterday it was so very windy.
- 3:07I couldn't stand. I was talking to Jabba on the
- 3:09phone at like almost midnight here.
- 3:12It was freezing because the wind just picked up.
- 3:15I don't know where it was coming from, Antarctica or maybe
- 3:18Canada. But how are you, Jabba?
- 3:20I mean, you've been very, very busy over the last past month
- 3:23and a half getting ready for the new year, celebrating Christmas.
- 3:27Your son was home. How are we?
- 3:30Everything's good. Got Carter back on Friday and
- 3:34just, you know, kind of bittersweet, but it's, it's also
- 3:38really a fun time to see him get going and he's in such a good
- 3:42place now so we, we won't have any guest appearances from his
- 3:46friends, but we may, you never know, they might, they might
- 3:49stop in but no, just getting him back and kind of just getting
- 3:52back on a on a schedule, you know, 'cause the holidays.
- 3:56And as we all know, that's kind of everybody's all over the
- 3:58place and, and doing those things.
- 4:00But, you know, just kind of get on the back on the schedule and
- 4:04get everything going and, and bust out 2026.
- 4:08And there's a lot of cool things that that's happening on the
- 4:11forefront for all of us and just excited for the journey and, and
- 4:15what's in front of us. But yeah, it's a it was a little
- 4:18bittersweet for, for pops over here and, and watching your baby
- 4:22go back to school and, you know, getting to spend time with them
- 4:25and, and doing that. But I'm excited.
- 4:27They open up February 6th and I'll literally be coming back
- 4:31from New York and then we'll be headed down to, to Kansas to, to
- 4:35watch him open up. So I'm excited about that and
- 4:38just excited for him first and foremost, just because it's,
- 4:42it's going to be a full year of him getting after it.
- 4:46And then we'll we'll see where he goes from there.
- 4:48We got, we got some, some feet in the sand on, on some schools
- 4:52and we'll kind of see. But I told him at the end of the
- 4:55day, I go, it's all up to you, but you got to go out and
- 4:58perform and, and do you. So he's excited about it.
- 5:01And, you know, they had their first official practice today.
- 5:04I would think every, every school kind of jumped off as far
- 5:08as baseball goes now. And you know, it's it, it's a
- 5:13fun time of the year. I love this.
- 5:15I love this time of the year when we're getting getting
- 5:18playoffs, you're getting national championships, we're
- 5:21going to get into March Madness. We're going to get into the
- 5:24start of baseball. Like it's just such a really,
- 5:26it's a really cool time when it's like a transition from the
- 5:30holidays into everything that's happening.
- 5:33It's a lot of work. I I.
- 5:34I hate this, it's going to be a lot.
- 5:36We were treated to a great day of football on Sunday.
- 5:40It all started with a thrilling win from Josh Allen and the
- 5:46Buffalo Bills, who beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 27 to 24 in
- 5:51the first game of three Sunday NFL playoff games on a
- 5:56game-winning rushing touchdown by Guess Who, Josh Allen.
- 6:01With one minute and four seconds to go, Allen was 28 for 35
- 6:06passing with 273 passing yards and 1 passing touchdown,
- 6:12touchdown and two rushing touchdowns.
- 6:14He became the first player in NFL history with an 80%
- 6:19completion percentage. And ladies and gentlemen, 250 or
- 6:24more passing yards and two rushing touchdowns in a playoff
- 6:27game. The Bills take on the Broncos in
- 6:30a divisional round. In the second game, the 49ers
- 6:35used some trickery to beat former champion the Philadelphia
- 6:40Eagles 23 to 19. A wild fourth quarter became
- 6:44began with Christian McCaffrey scoring on a wide receiver
- 6:48reverse pass by who Jawan Jennings while Saquon Barkley
- 6:54who had 106 yards and with with 20 carries helped the Eagles
- 7:00regain the lead on a field goal before Brock Purdy hit CMC for
- 7:06the game-winning touchdown with under 3 minutes to go.
- 7:10McCaffrey finished with 115 scrimmage yards and two
- 7:15touchdowns and DeMarcus Robertson was the unsung
- 7:20scrimmage unsung hero ladies and gentlemen with six catches, 111
- 7:26yards and a touchdown. A.J.
- 7:28Brown had a key third down drop on the Eagles last drive and got
- 7:33into it with Nick Siriani late the I'm sorry late in the first
- 7:40half. The 49ers faced the Seahawks
- 7:43next round in a late season rematch In the nightcap, which
- 7:48was probably the worst game of the weekend, the Patriots won a
- 7:52defensive duel with the charges 16 to three in a game where both
- 7:57quarterbacks were there were their team's leading rushers,
- 8:03and the two teams combined for 11 sacks.
- 8:06The Patriots defense hit and already hurt Justin Herbert all
- 8:10game, while his depleted offensive line couldn't give him
- 8:15any time. The Pats face tonight's winner
- 8:18between the Texans and the Steelers moving on to the
- 8:21divisional round. You know, I want to get into all
- 8:25the games. We're going to go from one game
- 8:27to another because it was a big weekend and a lot to get into.
- 8:31I thought all the games were fun to watch except really the
- 8:35Patriots game. I don't know if you're like a
- 8:37defensive game and you like what Mike Frabel did and or if you
- 8:42like what even Jim Harbaugh did and, and maybe his young
- 8:46defensive coordinator. And I might might be landing a
- 8:48job at the end of at the end of the season.
- 8:51Who knows? Maybe he goes to the Giants,
- 8:53maybe he goes to the Browns. I heard Mike McDaniel is going
- 8:55to be interviewing for the Browns tomorrow.
- 8:58Lot to get into with that after the season.
- 9:00But the Jaguars game was a game that a lot of New Yorkers wanted
- 9:06to watch. And why?
- 9:07Because the only New York team that's in the playoffs and some
- 9:11people say the only New York team in football was the Buffalo
- 9:15Bills. And Josh Allen to me is the best
- 9:18quarterback in the AFC as we speak.
- 9:23When you think of Patrick Mahomes, who's not in the
- 9:25playoffs, Lamar Jackson, that's not in the playoffs, Joe Burrow,
- 9:29that's not in the playoffs. When we look at the elite of
- 9:34elite, Josh Allen is around those type of guys, those type
- 9:38of players. And you look at guys like Bo
- 9:41Nicks, young player Drake May, young player CJ Strout, young
- 9:47player Trevor Lawrence, young player Justin Herbert moving on
- 9:52as a veteran player. These are guys that don't have
- 9:57the experience Josh Allen has. And that's, to me is so very
- 10:02important when you get into the playoffs, especially in
- 10:04football, when you look at obviously the coaching carousel
- 10:09that is going to open up many doors for the future of these
- 10:14NFL quarterbacks. You think of Josh Allen when he
- 10:18came to the NFL, he had Dabel and Brian Dabel, who a lot of
- 10:23people believe is the quarterback whisperer, helped
- 10:26Josh Allen transition his throwing motion and everything.
- 10:31Josh Allen within three years became the best of the best.
- 10:35And now as of last year, what won his first MVP of his career.
- 10:41But going into this game, Jacksonville, the Jaguars have
- 10:46had a sensational second-half the last four games of the
- 10:49season. I would say Trevor Lawrence has
- 10:51been one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
- 10:54And everybody talks about Cohen in in a transition of Trevor
- 10:57Lawrence maybe developing Trevor Lawrence, something that
- 11:01Peterson couldn't do. Doug Peterson, who won obviously
- 11:06a Super Bowl with the Eagles, beating the Patriots the way he
- 11:09did with a backup quarterback and falls.
- 11:12A lot of people thought Trevor Lawrence was in good hands.
- 11:14Well, he wasn't. His development got worse.
- 11:18And a lot of people thought after he got that $55 million
- 11:21contract a year and a half ago that the Jaguars overspent from
- 11:25a quarterback that looks like a hippie.
- 11:28But it it's transition, it's changed.
- 11:32In the second-half of the season, he started to understand
- 11:35the lingo. He understood what a quarterback
- 11:39should do in the NFL when you step into the pocket or move
- 11:42outside of the pocket or the pocket collapses to throw the
- 11:46ball away. And something that Trevor
- 11:48Lawrence couldn't and wouldn't do, it's really the first two or
- 11:52three years of his career in the NFL and that.
- 11:56Do you think, do you think Josh Allen is the standard right now
- 11:59like of of what quarterbacks are?
- 12:03I don't. I don't.
- 12:04Think, you know, he hasn't won and I know we've talked about
- 12:06that, but like from his, the way he handles A-Team, the way he
- 12:11handles himself, do you think he's like, is he the pinnacle
- 12:14right now of, of quarterbacks? I think there are three pinnacle
- 12:17quarterbacks right now in the NFL that a lot of people want to
- 12:20be like. And, and those are the guys and
- 12:22I I'm going to take this away from Lamar Jackson and I'm not
- 12:25going to attack Lamar Jackson because I think he's the best
- 12:27out of all of them. But the prototypical quarterback
- 12:30has to have a good arm, can be mobile when need be, and make
- 12:35every acrobatic throw that you need to make to secure a win.
- 12:41And those 3 quarterbacks are pretty simple.
- 12:44These guys that are veterans, late 20s is number one, I would
- 12:48say Patrick mahomes #2 Josh Allen and #3 Joe Burrow.
- 12:53These are the guys that are at the the pinnacle of their career
- 12:57where everybody thinks that they're they're the best of the
- 13:00best. These are the guys that you want
- 13:02to obviously translate to be in the NFL.
- 13:07And Josh Allen is that guy. And Josh Allen has proven to be
- 13:11that guy. And boy, oh boy, in some parts
- 13:14of this game on Sunday, it was all Josh Allen.
- 13:19I look at this team and everybody was talking about,
- 13:21hey, they the the Buffalo Bills are the best running team and
- 13:25the Jaguars are the best run stopping team in the NFL.
- 13:29And it went back and forth. But what made this game so
- 13:32interesting to watch was the way Josh Allen handled himself,
- 13:37understanding how and when to step into the pocket and make
- 13:40certain throws. He made mistakes, but when he
- 13:43needed to secure and make a throw, he did that.
- 13:46And at the end of the game, when the Jacksonville Jaguars were
- 13:49looking like they were going to run away with the game, Josh
- 13:52Allen had to make plays and he made every single play.
- 13:57And Trevor Lawrence at the tail end of the game, he forced the
- 14:01ball in a position as as a quarterback that doesn't have
- 14:04experience and doesn't obviously understand when you put the ball
- 14:09into places, especially where your number one wide receiver or
- 14:14do you have a number one wide receiver isn't you're going to
- 14:17put yourself in harm's way. And and again, I will say this
- 14:21about this Buffalo Bills team, Buffalo Bill, the Buffalo Bills
- 14:25are not the great Buffalo defense that we've seen over the
- 14:30years. They're good and they played
- 14:31well. They're especially they're one
- 14:33of the best pass rushing teams in the NFL.
- 14:37But throughout the season, they've been up and down.
- 14:39I've had them on all my fantasy leagues, practically in every
- 14:42single one of them. And they've been up and down.
- 14:45But and this team losing the players that they left and lost
- 14:50early in the season and, and players that really were
- 14:53detrimental to this defense, it hurt them.
- 14:57But again, Josh Allen can blind side you, blind side you and
- 15:01Josh Allen could blanket all the weaknesses that the Buffalo
- 15:07Bills have because of the ability that this kid can take
- 15:11over games, go in and and, and, and be the leader that the
- 15:15Buffalo Bills have needed ever since Jim Kelly.
- 15:19Go back and look at the Buffalo Bills ever since Jim Kelly
- 15:22retired. Go look at the quarterbacks they
- 15:24have had and quarterbacks veteran.
- 15:27I I mean, obviously franchise quarterbacks don't grow on
- 15:29trees. Go ask the New York Jets, go ask
- 15:32the Cleveland Browns, go ask almost every single NFL team
- 15:36that hasn't won a Super Bowl in 40 years.
- 15:39It does. It's not that easy.
- 15:41It isn't. Think about it.
- 15:43There are teams year in and year out drafting a quarterback in
- 15:46the first and second round and none of them, none of them come
- 15:50to anything. Think about it and you look at
- 15:52Josh Allen, he came from Wyoming, a farm.
- 15:56Nobody even knew this guy. Honestly, if you didn't know
- 15:59football, college football, nobody knew Josh Allen.
- 16:03And from all those quarterbacks that came out of that class and
- 16:06we talk about it all the time. We spoke about it last week,
- 16:09Baker Mayfield, who some people didn't think it was a first
- 16:12round talent but played well for Oklahoma and some people
- 16:15believes now has earned the right to be a first round.
- 16:18Maybe not the number one pick, but a first round talent.
- 16:22Sam Darnold. It took him how many years to
- 16:24develop as a quarterback? And then you have guys like Josh
- 16:29Rosen or Lamar Jackson. The two best quarterbacks in
- 16:31that class are the two quarterbacks a lot of people
- 16:34were questioning. 1. Lamar Jackson was drafted at the
- 16:37tail end of the first round. Mobile quarterback, Heisman
- 16:41Trophy winner, not very accurate, not good arm, but
- 16:46makes a lot of bad decisions. And then there's Josh Allen,
- 16:50unbelievable strong arm, one of the best arms they've ever seen,
- 16:53not accurate, has a weird throwing, a throwing motion and
- 16:57came out of the draft with a bad shoulder who had shoulder
- 17:00surgery. So a lot of people were
- 17:02questioning Buffalo on drafting him.
- 17:05And now we, we let's Fast forward it.
- 17:09What is it 8-9 years later? And there's nobody I want in
- 17:14this league right now in the playoffs that I want to start
- 17:18over Josh Allen. Josh Allen to me from the NFC
- 17:23and the AFC is by far the best quarterback still in the
- 17:28playoffs. And you could argue this.
- 17:30And the Jaguars felt it. The Jaguars saw it on Sunday.
- 17:33No matter how many times the Jaguars look like they were
- 17:37burying the Buffalo Bills. And I'm going to tell you this
- 17:40right now, congratulations. Great season for Cohen.
- 17:43Trevor Lawrence. I'm going to take back a lot of
- 17:44things I said about Trevor Lawrence.
- 17:46Trevor Lawrence to me was not, I believe, a franchise quarterback
- 17:51until Cohen came here and and showed you in the first year
- 17:55that you can develop a quarterback.
- 17:56If you put him in the right position with the right players
- 17:59around him, you can succeed. Keep the Gremlin on the
- 18:01sidelines. And how about ETN?
- 18:05ETN was a lot of people thought they were going to trade before
- 18:08the season started. They brought in, they drafted A1
- 18:11running back, they brought in a running back.
- 18:13And at the tail end of the preseason, or like ETN looks
- 18:16like he still has something. We're going to move this guy.
- 18:19We're going to move that guy. ETN is our guy.
- 18:21And boy oh boy what a slam dunk it was, bringing back Travis ETN
- 18:26because he had over 1200 yards and was as important as an
- 18:29offensive option, speedy as anybody on this team.
- 18:33Yeah. And ETN I think was somebody
- 18:35that the Bills I think tried to game plan for and I think that
- 18:37was a big difference when you look at we knew that the Jags
- 18:40versus Cook was going to be a strength on strength match up.
- 18:42But how the Bills will be able to stop BTN and be able to not
- 18:46have him run so consistently? He had some big runs.
- 18:48He definitely has a big runs. He had a few big catches as
- 18:50well. And he was able to get a lot of
- 18:53a second tier running ability, but was not overly consistent in
- 18:57that game. You mentioned Washington, he he
- 18:58was out most of that first half with the concussion and then he
- 19:00got it going in the third quarter when the Jags orders had
- 19:02their best offense. It was because he was be able to
- 19:04move the ball in the slot and the Gremlins injury was a big
- 19:08reason that he broke out in the second-half of the season and
- 19:10essentially became a #1 receiver for them.
- 19:12And then Jacoby Myers, they trade for the deadline, actually
- 19:15became their real number one. But he's more of a slot type,
- 19:17still limited. And the Bills, I think game plan
- 19:19for him more than anything else. So somebody else had to step up.
- 19:23Now, Trevor Lawrence, you mentioned he has shown flashes
- 19:25of a franchise quarterback in Layton Peterson's tenure in 22
- 19:29and 23. But I think after that injury,
- 19:31he really look rough and then it took him up until probably the
- 19:34middle of this season to really get going as what he would think
- 19:37of as a franchise quarterback. But however, some of those
- 19:40decision makings still came back in this game, which I think
- 19:43ultimately hurt the Jaguars. Now, I actually was bashing the
- 19:46Bills a little bit. I thought the Bills after they
- 19:48scored the touchdown or they should have wait a little longer
- 19:51to score the touchdown because I was worried they left
- 19:53Jacksonville with too much time on the clock, one O 4 to go.
- 19:57But Lawrence obviously had that, had interception after that, and
- 20:00those are the kinds of things he still can't get over.
- 20:01And you mentioned about Josh Allen for everyone, that's like
- 20:04playoff slandering Josh Allen because he hasn't won a
- 20:06championship. He's averaged 302 yards per game
- 20:08in the. Play.
- 20:09We go over this over and over and over again about
- 20:11quarterbacks not winning Super Bowls.
- 20:13Dan Marino win a Super Bowl. Jim Kelly win a Super Bowl.
- 20:16I could go on and on and on. A lot of great quarterbacks
- 20:19never won Super Bowls. It's not that easy.
- 20:22Ladies and gentlemen, go ahead. The Philadelphia Eagles, as
- 20:25everybody, including yours truly thought, no matter where they
- 20:28ended up with their defense, I thought the Eagles were going
- 20:31straight to the Super Bowl this year with the talent that they
- 20:34had. And boy, oh boy, the 49ers.
- 20:36And we'll get into that in just a few moments.
- 20:39Surprised and shocked, I believe the world because the Eagles
- 20:43were that much better in my book, especially with all the
- 20:46injuries and losing George Kittle the way they did early in
- 20:49the game. I thought the Eagles were flat
- 20:51outgoing to pulverize the 49ers. And I was wrong.
- 20:54I was wrong. But Jabba, I mean, obviously you
- 20:57watch the games. There was a lot of craziness in
- 21:00this Jaguar game and it's including even in the fourth
- 21:04quarter where there was a lot of questions with some of the play
- 21:06calling from the Buffalo Bills. They didn't run the ball very
- 21:09well. It was back and forth.
- 21:11They tried to do more than I think I the Buffalo Bills
- 21:15usually do in big games. They like to run out the clock
- 21:18and control the clock. They couldn't do that.
- 21:20As a matter of fact, I thought Jacksonville did it better than
- 21:23the Buffalo Bills in this game. What did you think of the game
- 21:26with the Buffalo Bills in the Jacksonville Jaguars?
- 21:29Yeah, there there were some the way the way the game kind of
- 21:33just fell into place. I think what really stood out
- 21:36too was that you saw the difference in the leader and
- 21:41Josh Allen obviously being, you know, that guy and Trevor, like
- 21:46Speedy said, seen flashes of being that franchise guy.
- 21:50But when you put Josh Allen in that situation, he's been there
- 21:54before. And I, I think that's one of
- 21:56those non quantified things that you can, you can put on a field
- 22:02that you don't really have anything to go by other than
- 22:06that he knows how to win. And so it's it, it's going to be
- 22:12different to see because obviously he's never never won,
- 22:16but he's got there. And I think he he showed in the
- 22:20fact of kind of, I think they went away from their offensive
- 22:25scheme a little bit just because they didn't run the ball very
- 22:27well. But Josh Allen being the leader
- 22:31that he is like being able to calm everybody down because when
- 22:34your leader is calm and doesn't like overreact or get to
- 22:39whatever. Like we can talk about his
- 22:44numbers, we can talk about all that.
- 22:46But when it comes down to it, it's like he, he has that
- 22:50leadership that calms everybody else down and be like, hey,
- 22:53we'll, we'll be all right. Like we'll we'll figure this out
- 22:55at some point. With a lot of no name wide
- 22:57receivers too, including what they just signed in Brandon
- 22:59Cooks who was like 12 years in the league.
- 23:02Right now, and I think just with with that hand in hand, I think
- 23:07is is why they're they're going to get to that point again.
- 23:13I don't know if they'll they'll reach it, but when you got a
- 23:17leader at the head like that, you you have a chance.
- 23:21And and he's shown that over and over again, showing a little
- 23:25pieces of it, but not not to Josh Allen standard.
- 23:29Leadership is very important, very important when it comes to
- 23:32the playoffs, especially the quarterback position.
- 23:34And Josh Allen stands for one of those guys that you can sit
- 23:38there. I've heard from many different
- 23:40players that we've interviewed that knows Josh Allen.
- 23:43This guy is so funny in the huddle.
- 23:45He calms everybody down. And if you go back and you think
- 23:48about Joe Montana, everybody thought he was like a lightning
- 23:50bolt. He was mean and disrespectful
- 23:52when he would speak to the media.
- 23:54But a lot of the players that played for the 49ers over the
- 23:57years that played with Joe Montana said he would find
- 24:00things outside side of the huddle that he can nitpick or
- 24:04point out to calm his players down.
- 24:06He was very, very good at that. And I would say that was Josh
- 24:10Allen and that is Josh Allen. Ever since he came into the
- 24:13league. I think he knows how to calm the
- 24:15players down. He makes anybody that has
- 24:17watched the Buffalo Bills play and understands the way the
- 24:20Buffalo Bills run their offense. Everything runs through Josh
- 24:24Allen. Everything.
- 24:25Speaking of teams and players that like to run their offense
- 24:29through certain players, that's the 49ers and, and CMC is
- 24:33probably one of the most dynamic players we've seen in the last
- 24:3720 years. We, we go and we go back before,
- 24:41before the game where everybody was talking about Saquon Barkley
- 24:43was drafted #2 and then you look at Christian McCaffrey was
- 24:47dropped, drafted in the top 10 by the Carolina Panthers.
- 24:50How they became friends after the draft, got to know each
- 24:53other, still competitive against one another, playing video games
- 24:56and things offset on their phones every single day.
- 25:00These guys have been competitive against one another.
- 25:03When you look at 2 running backs that you want to be like or want
- 25:07to, you know, mimic as a player, if you want to be a running
- 25:11back, it is CMC and Saquon Barkley.
- 25:13And these two guys faced off face off on face off against one
- 25:17another on Sunday at 4:30 in Philadelphia.
- 25:21Where after George Kittle went down the way he did in early in
- 25:24the game, you would have thought the advantage goes to
- 25:27Philadelphia. The way the defense plays and
- 25:30George Kittle, who's a pass blocker, a guy that really helps
- 25:34in the huddle, helps you know all the different things they
- 25:37like to run through CMC. George Kittle has a big part in
- 25:41that offense and watch it. Watching George Kittle go down,
- 25:44maybe his career, he could be over.
- 25:46George Kittle might be done at the age of 31 because tearing
- 25:50your Achilles, and this is not the quarterback position, you're
- 25:53using your legs all game long. You're you're digging your
- 25:57cleats into turf. That's a lot, a lot of pressure
- 26:01on your Achilles, your knees, your ankles, everything.
- 26:04I don't know if we're going to see George Kittle come back.
- 26:07I don't even know if the 49ers want him to come back at the age
- 26:10of 3334 as we've watched Travis Kelce ride off into the sunset,
- 26:14I think after this season. But again, the 49ers, Brock
- 26:20Purdy, since he's been back in the last three weeks, has been
- 26:23the best quarterback in the NFL. He has been as efficient as any
- 26:27quarterback and he didn't have one of his best games.
- 26:30As a matter of fact, his quarterback rating was 80.3.
- 26:34That, ladies and gentlemen, is not good.
- 26:37It it just not. And his completion percentage
- 26:40was 18 for 31262 yards, 2 passing touchdowns and two
- 26:45interceptions. He made a lot of mistakes in
- 26:46this game, mistakes that usually the Eagles capitalize on and
- 26:51they just didn't. The Eagles problem all season
- 26:54long was the offensive side of the ball and Saquon did have a
- 26:58good game. I know everybody's going to say,
- 27:00well, Saquon hasn't had a good season.
- 27:01Saquon still ran the ball 26 * 106 yards.
- 27:05He he still was efficient. He still did what they they
- 27:08needed Saquon Barkley to do. He even caught the ball three
- 27:11times for 25 yards. It's not like you can't blame
- 27:14Saquon Barkley. It's guys like A.J.
- 27:17Brown who might we might see that.
- 27:21We might have seen the last time we've seen A.J.
- 27:23Brown as a Philadelphia Eagle. He dropped three passes, too.
- 27:26Yeah, he was horrible. He was horrible.
- 27:29Devante Smith, who I love, wasn't great in this game.
- 27:33A lot of the he was targeted. Devante Smith was targeted 11
- 27:36times and only had eight receptions for 70 yards.
- 27:39When you're when you're looking at the efficiency and and
- 27:42understand the way this team runs their offense, you would
- 27:46understand that this team all season long was trying to reach
- 27:50offensively and losing more. When he went to the Saints in
- 27:53the offseason, a lot of people like more.
- 27:56Who cares about more? He's not a good coach.
- 27:58He's interesting. We saw him with the we've seen
- 28:00him many, many times. We saw him with the Chargers, we
- 28:03saw him with the Cowboys. He's not good.
- 28:05He's just not. The beef wanted to That's the
- 28:07Cowboys next coach. But guess what, since Moore went
- 28:10to the Saints, this offense has not been as efficient as the
- 28:14Super Bowl champion Eagles was last year and again, the 49ers.
- 28:18And yes, oh, and I know you're going to love this.
- 28:20I'm going to give you, I'm going to give you a shout out.
- 28:23I am not a Kyle Shanahan fan, but I'm going to give Kyle
- 28:27Shanahan a little bit of props in this game.
- 28:28I'm going to give Kyle Shanahan a lot of props.
- 28:30You know why? I'm going to give him props for
- 28:32a hiring Robert Sala. That is the only reason why I'm
- 28:38going to give him props. And Robert Sala to me has been
- 28:42their savior. Think about it, Robert Sala lost
- 28:46a ton of players early in the season, losers, one of the best.
- 28:50They lost one of the best linebackers in the league as
- 28:53early as they did. And Robert Sala had to really
- 28:56like just like paste players on the field.
- 29:00Think about it. They brought Kendricks in before
- 29:03what, a week before the game? Kendricks and he was the guy
- 29:07that was running the huddle. He was the run, the guy running
- 29:09the defense. Robert Sala gave his defense to
- 29:14a player that hasn't been on the team all season long, and Ryder
- 29:18died with that. And by the way, Kendricks made
- 29:21the final play of the game that won him the game.
- 29:24Think about that. And that to me says a lot about
- 29:28Robert Sala. I'm not going to take shots.
- 29:29Bambi was not good as a head coach, but Bambi is good as a
- 29:33defensive coordinator. We all know what The Jets were
- 29:35ranked when he was there with the New York Jets.
- 29:37They were in the top 10 every single season.
- 29:39Robert Sala was there. Their defense was elite.
- 29:42And look at their defense this year.
- 29:44Obviously, you have Aaron Glenn taking over his defense and his
- 29:47players. It hasn't worked out.
- 29:49We'll see what Aaron Glenn really transitions this team in
- 29:52the offseason. But I'm going to tell you this
- 29:54right now. It and Jabba, you said it best.
- 29:57The reason why they won this game was their defense.
- 30:00It wasn't their offense. I'm sorry, it wasn't it was
- 30:03great to watch players of, you know, of this magnitude, guys
- 30:08like Robinson, I and I, this guy is, is not a DeMarcus Robinson
- 30:12is not a great wide receiver. No, he's probably a #4 in every
- 30:15other team. Nobody would think that this guy
- 30:18was going to be the number one target for Brock Purdy all Game
- 30:226 or 7 to 111 yards and 11 touchdown.
- 30:26And Christian McCaffrey didn't have one of those games where
- 30:29you will you'll be like, Oh my God, this is very Christian
- 30:32McCaffrey like where he has a 200 all-purpose yards.
- 30:37He didn't have one of those games, guys, but he did enough
- 30:40Christian McCaffrey, especially that Jawan Jennings, Hell, Mary,
- 30:44whatever you trickery. I was the weirdest play call.
- 30:48And that was the only thing that I could say that I'm going to
- 30:50give Kyle Shanahan any credit for that trickery play that made
- 30:55my mouth drop. And Jawan Jennings, who I've
- 30:57seen do this before, this, this is a man that has thrown the
- 31:00ball before, but a perfect spiral to Christian McCaffrey to
- 31:05get it into the end zone. That was amazing.
- 31:08But I congratulations to Robert Solo.
- 31:10I, I, I got to give him a little bit of credit.
- 31:12Robert Solo was the reason why the 49ers.
- 31:15You saw his smirk, his little chicken leg face.
- 31:20And I say chicken leg because that guy has no legs.
- 31:22How was this guy? How was this guy a college
- 31:25football player playing tight ends?
- 31:26This guy's got the this guy's got the skinniest chicken legs
- 31:29I've ever seen. This guy running up and down the
- 31:32sidelines, laughing and giggling.
- 31:35Kyle Shanahan hugs, making him, jumping on him.
- 31:38I mean, there was the most ridiculous chant of dancing I've
- 31:42ever seen coaches have or celebration I've seen coaches
- 31:45have. OK, they didn't win the Super
- 31:48Bowl, ladies and gentlemen. They're not even going to the
- 31:50Super Bowl and they're sitting there dancing and prancing
- 31:53around because they knocked off the Philadelphia Eagles that
- 31:56haven't put it in the end zone since last season.
- 32:00Yeah, I remember when he was The Jets head coach at the time, you
- 32:03were criticizing of a lot of the stuff that he said.
- 32:05And my main criticism was his refusal to evolve from his
- 32:09scheme. And you finally saw it in this
- 32:11game with Lane Johnson hurt for the Eagles.
- 32:13The 49ers actually blitz more often than they usually do and
- 32:16actually attack it. This was a team that had not
- 32:19just Fred Warner out, they had three other starting linebackers
- 32:22out. The guys replacing him, they
- 32:23were on 5-6 and seven, including Kendricks, who was just signed
- 32:25off the practice squad, who's old.
- 32:27He was very good with the Vikings when he was at his peak,
- 32:29but he's an older player. He wasn't great with the Cowboys
- 32:33and they blitzed Jalen Hurts and confused him a lot of the time,
- 32:36which was surprising. Robert Sala never did that with
- 32:38The Jets. He wanted to be his four man
- 32:40rush. Typical to cover 3 type guy and
- 32:42that was a big difference in the game.
- 32:43The other big difference in the game was the 49ers offensive
- 32:45line holding their own too. I agree with you their offensive
- 32:48scheme wasn't overly amazing, especially once Kittle went
- 32:50down. It was hard for them to be able
- 32:52to do that kind of thing. And I agree with you it's going
- 32:54to be hard for Kittle to come back at a high level.
- 32:55I was looking at the like the last 10 guys that tore their
- 32:58Achilles and none of them have really come back the same
- 33:00besides Daniel Jones this year before he unfortunately got hurt
- 33:03again. And for somebody that plays a
- 33:05very physical brand of football at the tight end.
- 33:07And shout out to our friend Brian Snows in the comments
- 33:09section. 2 big 49ers fans always was mentioning that about the
- 33:1149ers old school style football and Kittle really exemplifies
- 33:15it. But the offensive line which was
- 33:16a question mark for the Niners at the beginning of the year has
- 33:18played really well in the second-half of the season.
- 33:19They held their own in this game.
- 33:21I agree with on A.J. Brown and might be the beginning
- 33:23of the end for him because it's the end because he's 100% the
- 33:27end. The only reason, the only reason
- 33:29his stats don't look as bad as they should this season was
- 33:31because after he made those comments, he got force fed the
- 33:34ball for about 3 or 4 games in a row.
- 33:36But if you actually look like his raw route running, you
- 33:38actually look at his raw receiving games this year, they
- 33:40are not good. And I, Dallas Goddard has become
- 33:43a good enough like second option with Smith this year to, I think
- 33:47be able to just say, all right, we're going to pay that money
- 33:50spread around 3 receivers or spread around offensive line
- 33:52rather. Than just do that and I'm going
- 33:54to say something. Nick Sirianni is going nowhere.
- 33:56Not not this offseason. I know a lot of people are
- 33:59jumping for him in the floor for the Packers to be gone and we
- 34:03will get into that just to probably after, I guess.
- 34:06But I want to say that Nick Siriani is going nowhere at
- 34:09least for one more year. This guy won a Super Bowl last
- 34:12year, OK. So there there's no way they're
- 34:15firing him at the end of a season where they made the
- 34:18playoffs and was one play away from possibly moving on to the
- 34:23divisional series. So that's ridiculous.
- 34:25So I don't know why everybody's attacking.
- 34:27I know understand there's a problem going on in that locker
- 34:29room. There's been a problem going on
- 34:31in the locker room since he's gone there and he signed.
- 34:33There. So relax guys, relax.
- 34:35The main one that's going to go is the offensive coordinator
- 34:37because the game planning was just bad.
- 34:38You bet. You say quad Barkley had a good
- 34:40game, but they still didn't really give him as much touches
- 34:42as you would like. And I don't think they really
- 34:44spread the ball around enough for Hertz to run like I thought
- 34:46they should have exposed to that defense.
- 34:48Yeah, it is. It was interesting that game.
- 34:51It was, I think, a tale of like a season of what the Niners have
- 34:57been because obviously they have gone down with injuries like we
- 35:01talked about, But I think just the way that they have managed
- 35:07and navigated through the injuries and how they've
- 35:11adjusted, I think has made them a better team.
- 35:14They didn't rely solely on like their dudes, like losing Fred
- 35:19Warner, that's huge. I mean, he's the best linebacker
- 35:22in coverage in the game, I think, personally.
- 35:27And then you have a guy who's your heartbeat and George
- 35:30Kittle, because I don't think Purdy's the heartbeat.
- 35:34I think Kittle's the heartbeat and you he goes down, then
- 35:38you're like, OK, we have to step up.
- 35:39Obviously CMC he's going to beat him like he's going to do him
- 35:43and then have everybody else step up.
- 35:46And it's like it's the next guy in line and it's it's the
- 35:50Wallypip Lou Gehrig, right? It's Lou Gehrig would have never
- 35:54had that chance of Wallypip didn't get hurt.
- 35:56And now these guys are getting a chance to do something special
- 36:01and with names that we have no idea who the hell they are.
- 36:07We don't even know who they are. And you know, hats off.
- 36:10And and we've talked about this on this show where that's where
- 36:15I think coaching comes in. And I'm glad Fish is on right
- 36:18now because that that comes into play to where it's like, hey,
- 36:22you get your chance. Like go do it.
- 36:23Like take the opportunity, go out like, hey, you've got
- 36:27nothing to lose. Go out and prove and this is
- 36:31what you are and show how good you are.
- 36:33And now some of these guys are going to change their families
- 36:37lives because they're getting the opportunity because we don't
- 36:40wish it injury on anybody, we don't.
- 36:43But now you get the opportunity to take advantage of that.
- 36:47I'll tell you who got taken advantage of.
- 36:48It was Kevin Pitullo, the soon to be former offensive
- 36:52coordinator of the Eagles. I would say all season it was a
- 36:56problem that everybody knew about and they were just
- 36:58pretending happening. This offense has been bad all
- 37:01year. It's the same guys that was on
- 37:03this great offense the year before with a different
- 37:06offensive coordinator. What's the difference?
- 37:08Bad offensive coordinator Now what can be so different?
- 37:11They're probably running mostly the same offense, except now you
- 37:14don't have the guy coaching him up on where the easy outs are.
- 37:18If they do a blitz in a certain way, you know, you need to have
- 37:22like the answers to the test as a quarterback in the NFL.
- 37:25You need to know like, if they come out with like a cover 3,
- 37:28like 5 man pressure, I'm going to go hit this guy on the hot
- 37:32route on this type of a pattern. I have a feeling that there just
- 37:35wasn't a lot of rhyme or reason to it.
- 37:37And Jalen Hurts just didn't understand, really, what the
- 37:40offensive coordinator wanted. And at the same time, what
- 37:44happened to all those fake tush pushes we saw earlier this year?
- 37:48What happened to all the trickeration?
- 37:50What happened to all the bells and whistles that made them so
- 37:53scary to deal with for last season?
- 37:57They're gone. They were a bland, boring
- 38:00offense that had a bunch of a bunch of Lamborghinis sitting
- 38:05around driving 50 miles an hour. Fish, that's a great point.
- 38:09There was a play in the third quarter when even even the
- 38:12announcers were like I think it was like fourth and one in the
- 38:16third quarter like why don't we tush push right here?
- 38:19What happened is, was Hertz that injured that he couldn't do it,
- 38:23then use him as a decoy and do one of the five different
- 38:26unstoppable fakes you had off of it because you spent the last
- 38:30three years putting the fear of God into every team in the
- 38:33league with this goddamn tush push.
- 38:35What an embarrassment to lose because you couldn't sack up and
- 38:39do the play that made you famous in the first place.
- 38:41I, I think, I also think, I also think that and I, I, I do root
- 38:46for the Eagles. I also believe that they don't,
- 38:48they don't care who the offensive coin aider or who the
- 38:51defensive coin aider, that with the talent that they have on the
- 38:54roster, they're going to be able to complete passes and and make
- 38:58plays. Guess what?
- 38:59Turns out they were wrong. They need they need a guy.
- 39:02The guy just was below the standard is what it was.
- 39:05You need to, I have a guy doesn't have to be the best
- 39:06offensive coordinator in the world.
- 39:08I don't think anyone thought Kellen Moore was the best
- 39:10offensive coordinator in the world.
- 39:11But was he solid? Sure, solid offensive
- 39:13coordinator. Now he's trying to become a head
- 39:15coach. I don't think many of us think
- 39:16it's going to go that great for him over there.
- 39:18He's done pretty well with. Chuck.
- 39:21Chuck was impressive this year under him, you know, and I don't
- 39:25think a lot of people saw that, but you know, a lot to be
- 39:28determined with him over there in New Orleans.
- 39:30But good for him on getting that job.
- 39:32He was good enough to get that job.
- 39:34Petula is not going to be doing anything going forward.
- 39:36No, it was just boring. And you would see and like Tom
- 39:39Brady was just like holding back as much as he could from
- 39:43criticizing Jalen Hurts. He he could like there were
- 39:47numerous times that their guys wide open and Hurts just threw
- 39:51it to a guy who was covered. I mean that the the interception
- 39:53at the end of the game covered, you know, same thing with Trevor
- 39:58Lawrence, by the way, in that first game covered.
- 40:01What what are we doing? Obviously, if he's double
- 40:04covered, a different guy is open.
- 40:06That's like football one O 1. And I think some of these guys,
- 40:09they're frustrated with the offense or a guy like Trevor
- 40:12Lawrence just gets speed up at the wrong times.
- 40:14I think you know, and they make bad decisions at the absolute
- 40:19worst times. And you got guys, you know, like
- 40:21we'll talk about in a couple of games that just come through in
- 40:24the clutch every time, man. Speaking of sloppy, that Patriot
- 40:27game was just absolutely pathetic.
- 40:29I don't know, you make out of all the games to pick prime time
- 40:35Sunday Night Football, this is the game you picked the Patriots
- 40:40and the Chargers. First of all, we all know what
- 40:43happens to the Chargers in the playoffs, and Speedy says it
- 40:46best. What do you call?
- 40:46Clutch, Steven. Football.
- 40:48East clutch team and football the charger and Jim Harbaugh has
- 40:52done a sensational job. There was a lot of injuries
- 40:55obviously to the offensive line losing Slater losing Well, could
- 40:58you imagine what this offensive line is going to be next year
- 41:01when they're 100% healthy? Do you know how good Justin
- 41:04Herbert is going to look? I if you're a betting man, I'm
- 41:07going to tell you betting woman and you're you're a guy that
- 41:10likes to bet and make bets 100 a thousand 2000 or whatever.
- 41:15One take Justin Herbert to be an MVP candidate next year.
- 41:20Because with that offensive line at at his disposal and and the
- 41:25ability that he's going to have to make the players that he
- 41:27could make next year. This could be one of the best
- 41:30years to watch Justin Herbert play as a starting quarterback
- 41:33in the NFL. There's no question.
- 41:34But this year this game pathetic.
- 41:37And I will say this, Drake Mays had a great year.
- 41:40He really has. But Drake May, if you look at
- 41:43his numbers there, and by the way they were, Collinsworth was
- 41:47praising Drake May. Did you watch that?
- 41:49May? Did you see that, bro?
- 41:51Did you see him move outside of the pocket?
- 41:53I mean, come on, Collinsworth. I don't want to hear Chris
- 41:56Collinsworth tell us about what he thinks about Drake May.
- 42:00It was to me, Drake May did all right.
- 42:02He was OK Mike Frable really was the, to me, the unsung hero of
- 42:07the Patriots. His defensive play calling was
- 42:11sensational against Jim Harbaugh.
- 42:13That's the facts guys. Rabel outclassed and out coached
- 42:20the one we call Jim Harbaugh. That's it.
- 42:23You want to you want to put the icing on the cake, you want to
- 42:26put the cherry on top, it was Mike Rabel.
- 42:29And I'm going to say this for all you Jet fans, Mike Rabel
- 42:33went in to to talk to the New York Jets at at one point, at
- 42:39some point last year in the offseason.
- 42:41I love Aaron Glenn, and I think Aaron Glenn still my guy.
- 42:45But you got a chance to bring in Mike Rabel and you absolutely
- 42:49swung and missed. He went to the Patriots.
- 42:52If you wanted Mike Rabel, you watch what Mike Rabel can do to
- 42:55your do for your team and call defensive plays.
- 42:58And guys, I know he's not the defensive coordinator, but trust
- 43:01me, trust me, Rabel had every point across the board on this
- 43:06defense. This defense was explosive.
- 43:10I mean, seriously, if you look at some of the guys that we
- 43:12watched in this game, guys that were not his, his team, did
- 43:17anybody watch bar more what he did in this game?
- 43:19He caused so much. If you look at his numbers, they
- 43:22didn't really stick out. He had three tackles.
- 43:24He caused so much havoc up the middle that the yes, the
- 43:30Chargers couldn't run the ball. They couldn't do anything in
- 43:32this game because he was causing so much.
- 43:36You know, you know, I don't even know what you call it.
- 43:39It was just, it was horrible to watch the Chargers try to push
- 43:42their offense and there was nothing.
- 43:44Allen disappeared in this game. Johnson disappeared.
- 43:47Johnston just disappeared in his game.
- 43:50There was no offense to provide Justin Herbert.
- 43:53Justin Herbert got killed. He got killed in this game over
- 43:57and over and over again. It was pathetic, absolutely
- 44:00pathetic. That's all I could say about
- 44:02this game. It was Mike Frabel outclassing
- 44:05Jim Harbaugh in in a in a wild card game that was absolutely
- 44:09pathetic. And Rodger Goodell should be
- 44:11ashamed of himself. The NFL should be ashamed of
- 44:13himself because I thought the Buffalo Bills in the
- 44:16Jacksonville Jaguars should have been the prime time game.
- 44:19That's what I New York Allen is the biggest superstar is still
- 44:25in this in this playoff and the Buffalo Bills have a chance to
- 44:28go to the Super Bowl for the first time since I don't even
- 44:31remember when. I mean seriously.
- 44:34And this is their chance to maybe win their first Super Bowl
- 44:37and is probably the easiest way to the Super Bowl because he
- 44:40doesn't have to deal with Patrick Mahomes or Joe Burrow or
- 44:43Lamar Jackson. And this is the game you picked
- 44:47for primetime Justin Herbert versus Drake May Pathetic.
- 44:52Absolutely pathetic. That's all I could say about
- 44:56this game. Pathetic.
- 44:57Yeah, in addition to the fact that the Chargers have the least
- 45:00fans in the league, followed by the probably the second most
- 45:02team that's playing tonight, even the Texans, they don't have
- 45:04a lot either. But nevertheless, it was hard
- 45:06for the Chargers without the offensive line.
- 45:07I go to the offensive line more in my stat of the week.
- 45:10Just how much? You can't blame Justin Herbert,
- 45:12but the skill position players, they didn't get open either.
- 45:14Quentin Johnson, not very good at route running and Lad
- 45:16Mcconkey was shut down by the Patriots team and forever you
- 45:19react to the Patriots offense. Yeah, I wouldn't work over react
- 45:22to that because Drake made it's a very bad decision making in
- 45:24that game. He had some crisp throws.
- 45:25I'm not saying he played bad, but it wasn't like that MVP
- 45:27performance you were expecting, just Chargers defense.
- 45:30They kept him in the game, but that was really it.
