- 2:09know, multiple abilities, multi competent and he is multi
- 2:15talented. He is an intellectual and he is
- 2:19a businessman. And he is a musician.
- 2:22Big Walker While Dee the Wild. How are you?
- 2:27All good? I'm good.
- 2:29Girl, thank you for having me, bro.
- 2:31It's it's really a pleasure to have you my brother, right.
- 2:36I do. You.
- 2:37I first did yours. What?
- 2:38Even though I went to university with you, right.
- 2:41And they remember back in the days you used to say, well, do
- 2:44you know, wild? That was.
- 2:49Because, yeah, I called you. I think that there was a guy
- 2:52called you, I don't know, when you were Cyprus or something,
- 2:54right? And then you did not know who
- 2:56was speaking. And then yeah, ohh, that you
- 3:00just. Please.
- 3:03I'll go way back, you know. Yeah, but but that that that
- 3:10statement clicks, bro. Wow, you know.
- 3:14You know the way you used to call me dead immediately.
- 3:16You called me and you just keep that?
- 3:19Yes, you just got you. You do have someone interested?
- 3:25Interested. So who is Tim Dyer Akinyi?
- 3:29Who is? OK, Let me take it back.
- 3:36Let me take it back. Back, back back.
- 3:38Tim Dakini is is a Yoruba boy who hails from Adori on those
- 3:46states. I'm on the boy and I I grew up
- 3:51in Ibadan or estate and I later on went for my university.
- 4:00Education in university agreed to so so after then after I
- 4:09finished my university, I went for my NYC up north in Sokoto
- 4:16and I decided, you know, I didn't want to go initially, but
- 4:20I decided to go because I've had this affinity for exploration so
- 4:28I didn't mind. Already Explorer.
- 4:32Yeah, I I had just had to go like wherever it is, I'm going
- 4:36to experience it. Yeah.
- 4:37And it's going to add one or two.
- 4:39So from there, when I finished, I moved to Lagos, which I
- 4:44started doing my music thing, which had been doing right from
- 4:47time. So Tim Dakini is, like I said
- 4:51you, Ruba boy, a Christian and a businessman.
- 4:55Um Songwriter. Um.
- 4:59Ian R I do everything you know. I just try to.
- 5:05You understand? Very correct.
- 5:08You know, at the beginning I said this man is a multitalented
- 5:12person. Interesting.
- 5:14So I have always known you as well.
- 5:17Did the Wild right from OU? How?
- 5:19How did that name come about? Yes.
- 5:23So the initial name wasn't, well, just Wildy.
- 5:27It wasn't Wildy, Zoe. It was welding new and you know,
- 5:35I got it from the OK. I had some friends who used to
- 5:39call me Survivor because then they know they see me
- 5:44everywhere, everywhere, every, every gig.
- 5:48I'll be there. So then I don't even have the
- 5:51name. So I was just thinking that the
- 5:53what can I use? Like I wanted a name that meant
- 5:56something. So I thought of welding you
- 5:59like. It's just like Pantera.
- 6:00You like fierce person. Because the logical name.
- 6:07Yes. Yeah.
- 6:08It's like you just don't think about it, OK?
- 6:11This is the need to OK, he's doing good.
- 6:14OK, let's do it. So I didn't just came and I just
- 6:20liked it and I asked someone and he said yeah, it's OK you know,
- 6:24I've never, I've not heard anybody Caldwell, we can use it
- 6:28and his talk, you know stock. Fast.
- 6:32He interested. Interested.
- 6:33So. So why didn't you?
- 6:35So how come you know Leo left and then you know you used to
- 6:39call you, I guess a symbol. MC symbol used to call you while
- 6:44I did. Well, yeah, you know symbol was
- 6:46like one of my very first friends, you know, in USD.
- 6:49And then I think he introduced me to you.
- 6:51I think you guys were probably like.
- 6:53Roommates or something. Roommates.
- 6:55And it was. It was ask me to.
- 6:58Yeah, you guys studied geography, right?
- 7:01And interestingly, interestingly I, I, I love geography a lot as
- 7:05a person. I think that's probably one of
- 7:06the things that made us get along.
- 7:09Very interesting story about myself.
- 7:11Quick one, right. I used to know geography so
- 7:14much, you know, growing up in secondary school even when I
- 7:17wrote jump right, I scored 88 in geography.
- 7:21Like, I loved geography so much. Like I always wanted to explore
- 7:26the world, you know, go to the geographical monuments,
- 7:30historical agreement in the world, right?
- 7:32And then there was some time when I just finished secondary
- 7:35school and I was in some government.
- 7:39School. Right.
- 7:40And going around the the, the environment and I saw that they
- 7:44had an abandoned library. I guess what like I want you to
- 7:49eat it abandoned library. And I stole a book from the
- 7:53library, and that book was a book on physical and human
- 7:56geography. You kind of want you like, for a
- 8:00child to steal a book, all right.
- 8:03And. What you You wanted to know what
- 8:05was in? That book, yeah, I always wanted
- 8:08to know more about the world places, different places in the
- 8:11world. You get it right.
- 8:12And then that has like all it's like inspired me, you know,
- 8:15going forward recently, I think last one I I travelled to
- 8:18Morocco, right. And you know when I was taking
- 8:21around the loss of geographical monuments, right.
- 8:24I remembered some of these spaces.
- 8:27I've seen it that way back, You know, wow, like type of
- 8:32influence is actually go, you know, away along each other
- 8:36person's life. You know, you have like setting
- 8:39interest, right? And then you always, like,
- 8:41pursue those interests. You know, if you donate and all.
- 8:45Move forward and Speaking of childhood influences that that
- 8:48leads me up to my next question to you, right.
- 8:50So who were your early life influences and how was childhood
- 8:54and growing up for you? Um, growing up for me was I I
- 9:00grew up in a family of with five kids and I I was, I was the last
- 9:08born. So I grew up with my elderly
- 9:12ones already in maybe high school or about to get to high
- 9:17school at least. So I had the opportunity to
- 9:22actually have some space to explore my my dad used to play a
- 9:28whole lot of different kind of sounds, from filler to Bob
- 9:33Marley to Paul Simon to Dolly Parton Chaka Chaka all over the
- 9:42world. So I grew up with music and I
- 9:44grew up with my dad waking us up with an Orlando war song and him
- 9:51dancing to it. We believe that as well.
- 9:55Yeah, so I learned. To.
- 9:58Do. My bring up I had affinity for
- 10:02music and I had affinity for musical instruments.
- 10:05But at the same time, I I, I loved at that time I used to
- 10:12want to be an Air Force officer or a military personnel.
- 10:18Why so? Yeah, so growing up, I didn't
- 10:24make a choice. I just continued following both,
- 10:29having affinity for both sides. So I joined the choir.
- 10:33At the point I was the Chapel prefect and I was in charge of
- 10:37the choir, so I had the ability to learn reading musical notes,
- 10:43about learning how to play the guitar and I learned a little
- 10:47bit about how to play the piano. So then it was it was cool.
- 10:52I attended a private school, All Saints College, Abbadon.
- 10:56And you know after then I am going admission into EU and I
- 11:06wanted to study economics though but.
- 11:10I thought you. Yeah, but my dad was like, OK
- 11:15before then. They didn't give me economics,
- 11:17they gave me geography. So I wanted to wait a year and
- 11:21still study economics or just go to the Ng straight up.
- 11:24So my dad advised me to go for the geography and linking the
- 11:29geography to I can still move into the NGA to get a short
- 11:34course and you go into Air Force.
- 11:37So I was like, no worries. So when I got to OU, first of
- 11:42all, my affinity for the military, the military side of
- 11:45me made me join the Manor war. The the musical part of me.
- 11:53Let me give you this story. I wasn't.
- 11:56Do you know you can remember I would.
- 11:58I will not. Fight, fight, fight for fight.
- 12:02So this perpetual light choir, which is from the Catholic
- 12:07Church we had in OU, they used to have the inquiry as I was.
- 12:13So I was on my bed that day, I was sleeping and I was hearing
- 12:16this choir singing that like, where are these people coming
- 12:20from? So I said, look, I I got out of
- 12:22my room, I started tracing the voices because I think they were
- 12:26having. It was close to the festival, so
- 12:29they were rehearsing. So it was just so melodies that
- 12:32I had to like twist them. And I was, I think I was in 100
- 12:37level then. So I was still new.
- 12:40So I went to ETF. You know, is it fudge before
- 12:48each year? Yeah, or I will before eight
- 12:49years. It is five hour ETF.
- 12:54ETF is the last. Hour was hours, so I chased them
- 12:57to ETF. I didn't see them, not knowing
- 13:00they were actually above the room I was sleeping initially.
- 13:04So when I when I went back to my hostel and I just checked up and
- 13:09I saw them. Then that day, I joined the
- 13:11choir. So.
- 13:14I was doing both and I was studying.
- 13:17I was studying my course normally.
- 13:19So my free time, you know, we do have drills in the morning for
- 13:25manual war and drills on weekdays.
- 13:29We do have rehearsals for quiet. So those were the things taking
- 13:32my time as that, my early years in Ohio.
- 13:35Yeah. So afterwards I start recording
- 13:40songs. I said go into the studio.
- 13:46My first producer was Brown Noise.
- 13:47I don't know if you know Brown Noise.
- 13:49He was one of the early producers back then in the
- 13:52history records for Black Bones too, at some point.
- 13:55Ohh, I'd rather Blackburn somewhere you did is.
- 13:58Yeah, So he I start recording from him, start performing in
- 14:02school, then I made symbol in class.
- 14:05He was into entertainment, you know, He just gingered me up and
- 14:10every show he was going to, it was taking me along.
- 14:14And I recorded a song and he told me, OK, we should do a song
- 14:18together and like, OK, I like your voice, you, you you can
- 14:22sing, bro. Let's do a song then.
- 14:24Then for every show he's performing, he makes sure I
- 14:28perform in that show and I performed the song with it
- 14:31together. So then it was actually fun, you
- 14:35know? Um, Although there could be
- 14:39distractions, there could have been OK, there were
- 14:42distractions. Let me just put it that way.
- 14:45You know, handling music and you know, back then OU he got to a
- 14:49point where by the industry was like like the outside industry
- 14:54where you have graphics designers working hand in hand
- 14:57with show event promoters working at the end with artists,
- 15:03with NCS. So we had all those things in
- 15:07place back in OU. Then where there's competition
- 15:09performing to 5000 students, you have to wow them.
- 15:12You have to make sure your stage performance is top notch to make
- 15:16sure that you know they don't. Like we we had our like our own
- 15:22mini entertainment industry. In the entertainment industry
- 15:27we've got some performances. You know, it's crazy.
- 15:30So you know those period, the period of me figuring out, you
- 15:39know, OK, what's it? OK, I'm studying which which
- 15:44direction is my life going to? But what I knew was that the
- 15:47more I was going from 100 level to 200 level, my love for music
- 15:53started growing. So I started listening to music
- 15:58more. I started listening to other
- 16:01type of songs more and the kind of songs I I was always drawn to
- 16:08more or less songs. Songs that has deep melody and
- 16:19maybe slower tempo. It might be faster tempo, it
- 16:21might be anything, but I love songs that moves the soul.
- 16:25So as I was from Andre level to 200 level to 300 level, I
- 16:31started realising, OK, yeah, I I actually want to give a more
- 16:36percentage of myself to this course, even though I was still
- 16:40making sure I was attending my classes.
- 16:43Because if I don't attend class, ohh my mom.
- 16:47My mom is a kind of my mom. My mom is a teacher.
- 16:50Yeah, I love my mum so much. I.
- 16:53That woman is the strongest lady in this and she's the sweetest.
- 16:57She, you know, don't. You might be watching a movie
- 17:01with my mom now. You guys are enjoying something,
- 17:05I just tell her. Like, tell this child to go and
- 17:08read the next thing. You would.
- 17:12You would you would you wish you would change?
- 17:14Or so I knew the kind of mom I had.
- 17:18I must like I had to make sure I was keeping up with the classes,
- 17:22even though I was, you know, my heart was going.
- 17:27Elsewhere and in another direction, you had to keep the
- 17:30grades up. Right, to keep it up.
- 17:32So after then I went like I said, I went for service and you
- 17:36know, I had to still pursue the music when I got to Lagos and
- 17:43which that make my my movements, my legal journey from United.
- 17:53A huge. Good stage in my life, which to
- 17:58date I would always thank God for.
- 18:02So in short, I can just put it that way.
- 18:05Hmm, interesting. Interesting.
- 18:07So I I remember, I remember that you yourself, MC Ball and even
- 18:13myself like all in the way you you you you did really well
- 18:17academically, right. I I remember you you you
- 18:20finished with the second class upper symbol as well.
- 18:22You know finish with second class upper myself.
- 18:24You know, remember I was an MC remember MC Lelland are really
- 18:29they gave me my first role as an MC back in school.
- 18:32Right. But then I'll just knew for
- 18:34myself that, you know, I was not a comedian, right.
- 18:37I was not like the core entertainer, right.
- 18:40That I am like a proper corporate guy, right?
- 18:45Like they kind of talents, communications talents that I
- 18:48had, right, sort of suited a more structured environment and
- 18:52then you know, decided to focus on my studies and still like
- 18:55enjoy the environment. And I used to anchor things like
- 18:58seminars, you know, you know structured events, right.
- 19:02And then it's good to see how things are panning out for for
- 19:06all of us, you know, love great guys you went to OU and and Dean
- 19:10well you know in their respective fields of endeavours.
- 19:14It's really, really fantastic to see.
- 19:15But then would you like talk us through your academic
- 19:20background, right and like the the achievements you you've made
- 19:24academically because you like we used to say you are in a big way
- 19:31that is a tree of books. Success was the musical aspect
- 19:36of you. You know you're like a very well
- 19:39educated, widely and well read person.
- 19:42So can you talk about the academic side of you?
- 19:47My academic journey started from Ecuador.
- 19:51Like I said, I attended Site of Life High School and moved to
- 19:57All Saints College, which was a missionary school.
- 20:01And afterwards I did my job. And luckily for me, the year I
- 20:05did my job, but my jam, my wife and my nickel, I passed
- 20:09everything because a year before I had GC, I did GC.
- 20:14And just to test myself, which actually passed.
- 20:17And, you know, I was like, OK, yeah.
- 20:19Can I can actually take it? So like I said the course I
- 20:22wanted, they didn't give it to me.
- 20:24But no cut the long story. Short.
- 20:26Yeah, but they gave it to me anyways.
- 20:28Yeah, they're gonna because you because you want that I.
- 20:32Got you into the sport, boy, you you know, you know, ohh you as
- 20:39it is, you have to read. Highly competitive school.
- 20:43Highly highly competitive. Team even you know I had to OK
- 20:48there was there were in in the the first year was very OK Then
- 20:56you know you're coming with speed you're coming with you
- 20:58know the whole energy. Then getting to year three, you
- 21:04start facing the lecturer issues and this and that.
- 21:08You know, but in OU, irrespective of what you're
- 21:12doing, just make sure you are on your toes because you know there
- 21:17are some people that you'll see them.
- 21:19We are unserious, they are out there, you know, you don't know
- 21:22they're actually, they are fired, they are reading that
- 21:25someone like. Him but now.
- 21:27You know, if you if you think because you've seen him here and
- 21:33there's no reason, that's a lie, that's right.
- 21:37Yeah. Exactly.
- 21:38You know, I was after then OK in my secondary school.
- 21:44Let me go back to my high school.
- 21:48I I had courses that I liked and I like I said when I was the
- 21:53Chapel prefect power, the responsibilities that I had was
- 21:58to go represent to school in Bible quiz.
- 22:01You know you have Bible verses or Bible chapters you have to
- 22:04cram on your head and you have to drop and you know you have
- 22:08competitions whereby you you're facing the the the next.
- 22:13School. In all those squeezes.
- 22:16So those are actually the interesting, those are the
- 22:19memories. And like I have of my childhood,
- 22:23I actually think of the year I actually, I got involved in some
- 22:27things that I I can still remember.
- 22:29And I was like, yeah, they were actually fun and you.
- 22:32Know. Do you think those things
- 22:33actually, you know, beat your your, your character?
- 22:36Yes, he does. He does.
- 22:38He really does. Because, you know, there are
- 22:41some things that personality, some people, some people would
- 22:44do and be like me. I'm just like, Nah, it doesn't
- 22:49really. So there are some, yeah.
- 22:52It's just like grooming. There's no way those things will
- 22:56not have their own effect on someone's growth on our how you
- 23:03eventually turn because those are the things you've put in
- 23:06your head when you're when your brain was too young, open trying
- 23:10to figure out everything. Those are the things you were
- 23:13feeding your brain. So here I can personally you
- 23:16know, I can see that it's actually has influenced my life
- 23:21in the whole way. So in Oahu, like I said, I was
- 23:25able to handle the educational part and thank God, even though
- 23:28I had to retake of course, which I think the cost was from your
- 23:34department. Still why?
- 23:38I support rejections from economics, man.
- 23:43One statistics and. Yeah, the statistics course. 106
- 23:50106. One or 6000 Mathematics.
- 23:54Yeah. And yeah, Matrix and the lights,
- 23:59yeah, that was that was because I didn't retake the course.
- 24:07I left it and I didn't put it. I didn't add it on my any of
- 24:12year two or year three because because as at that time I was
- 24:15already getting involved with music and everything.
- 24:19So now I need if I add another extra cost on it, it will demand
- 24:23more time and I will not be able.
- 24:26To. Cope so and the last thing I
- 24:29wanted to add it in the last year, but unfortunately that
- 24:32last year had an extra cost on it and I could not add more than
- 24:36the units. Yeah, there's like a maximum
- 24:39number of units that you can do. Yeah.
- 24:41So absolutely take it we. Just terrible.
- 24:44And it's the second semester course, so it means.
- 24:46You have and that's the second semester, of course.
- 24:49That is terrible. But you know, you know how go
- 24:52down helps me. That was the year they were
- 24:55merging convocation. So even when I finished, I still
- 25:03have the same convocation with everybody because.
- 25:06Wow. Wow.
- 25:09They were merging. All things work together for
- 25:13good. Afterwards I I went to Sokoto.
- 25:17I still thought geography in Sokoto.
- 25:20Interesting. Interesting.
- 25:22Yeah, I learned how a little Houser in Sokoto.
- 25:25Just you know, communication, day-to-day communication, buying
- 25:29stuff. Then I had no, we had no issue
- 25:36with Boko Haram or anything or any of those stuffs.
- 25:42It was actually safe. And they were actually warm.
- 25:45You know, I learned a whole lot about that period of my life.
- 25:50Actually taught me a whole lot about how our human we actually
- 25:55are away from. Ohh this scientific developments
- 26:01and everything. There are still people on this
- 26:03earth that are still living, as bare, as you know, a whole lot
- 26:10of years ago. There are still people that are
- 26:13not in this our space that we actually we actually used to
- 26:17think maybe. Much closer to nature feels that
- 26:21it basically brought you closer to each.
- 26:23Other to nature, Yeah. Yeah.
- 26:26So it was actually cool to actually, you know, see that
- 26:30part? So when I finished, when I
- 26:33finished serving in Sokoto, had to come back to Lagos because,
- 26:39you know, I was. I was done doing what I was
- 26:41doing and I didn't have, I didn't have the plan of staying.
- 26:45So I was in Lagos then. Um, after a while, I think how I
- 26:53worked in Lagos. Yeah, I worked in Lagos.
- 26:55When I got to Lagos, I worked. And after a while I got signed
- 26:58to a label and that period, it was all music.
- 27:05It was all music about my life, everything, the whole movement,
- 27:09all music. Then after I was out of the
- 27:11label, not. I think it was.
- 27:16I think it was three months after I just had the change of
- 27:20mind that I need. I need I I can't just be like
- 27:23this. I can't.
- 27:24I I can't leave myself and not have some self improvement or
- 27:29self development away from music.
- 27:32Yeah, away from music. I just had that thought, which I
- 27:36know. We still delve into that those
- 27:38areas though, so I just had to like go get my masters and
- 27:45secure that and you know, build myself.
- 27:48There were a lot of things I still needed to do in terms of
- 27:52personal growth, building mental growth, building financial
- 28:00growth, building financial management, the holder of steps
- 28:05I needed to which I was, and I am actually now, grateful I was
- 28:10able to realise that, yeah, I needed all these things as a
- 28:13human being. You know so.
- 28:18Yeah, yeah. So you you you, you did a
- 28:20masters in some university in Cyprus, right?
- 28:24Yeah. What?
- 28:25What was your masters on? Like what was the TCP and the
- 28:30special TV masters? OK, umm, let me link.
- 28:35Let me link the time I left my at the level in Nigeria and the
- 28:41time I decide to travel. So now, you know, I studied
- 28:45geography, Yeah. And the and the, the part of
- 28:47geography that excited me the most was the explorative part of
- 28:51it, the whole Air Force thing, the whole getting to know
- 28:54places. So I had the feeling of, OK,
- 28:57what course could I do that? Still, I wanted to do marketing.
- 29:01I wanted to do management, OK. At the same time, I still have
- 29:04affinity for geography, tourism, getting to know different places
- 29:09and not so. When I I checked the the
- 29:13brochure of the school I saw they had, they had tourism and
- 29:19hospitality, my even and under the courses I saw that they had
- 29:23the management and they had marketing.
- 29:26So which the? And all under the Tories.
- 29:31And they had the, the clothes selling parts like like a like a
- 29:39hotel boutique part. So there were different
- 29:42different areas I could actually benefit from.
- 29:44I just decided like, OK, yeah, I think this is the cause for me.
- 29:47Just use one stone to kill different bread, which was a
- 29:50very, very great step because I had to learn a lot about
- 29:56business, about marketing, you know, the forward integration,
- 29:59backward integration, brand differentiation had to learn a
- 30:03whole lot about how to handle the business because the tourism
- 30:07space to is the business is an industry on its own and it still
- 30:12consists of music itself. It's so intertwined.
- 30:14With arts and culture, he seems that time.
- 30:17With the hotel management and like so I just.
- 30:21I just. Felt that was a.
- 30:22Good cause for me, which you know he actually is.
- 30:25So after then I decided to move here to UK because here you
- 30:30know, it gives the opportunity to you know.
- 30:34It gives you more. Opportunities to choose from,
- 30:37let me just put it that way exactly.
- 30:39And you know anything you get to put your mind on doing you have
- 30:43the the opportunities right the right opportunities to be able
- 30:46to to execute them it's it's it's a nice place to be in So
- 30:51talking about your your passion for music and you know on if if
- 30:56if we if we went to randomly into Apple Music right I would
- 30:59set the word while Dee right one song pops up and that song is
- 31:05titled so way too So what was the inspiration they hide in
- 31:10Soweto. OK, Soweto is a.
- 31:18Song that was actually originally written by Fireboy
- 31:23DML. As I know with.
- 31:27Products. I've not said this to anybody
- 31:31before, but you know. So just just spoiler alert,
- 31:36right? You guys first heard this on the
- 31:38Kingdoms Podcast to continue, my brother, Let me let me go.
- 31:43Back to OU days while we were in school in the oil industry
- 31:47because you know I I just made I just we just talked about that
- 31:52briefly. So you know what?
- 31:55When OU we had. Other artists.
- 31:58To doing the crafts and everything we had somewhere.
- 32:01We had blood, bones, we had fireboy DML, we had the whole of
- 32:07guys doing their things. Comedians too, are really, you
- 32:11know, into Sinbad and the lights.
- 32:14So I thought we left school. Back in school, Fibre and I were
- 32:19quite close, you know, at the point where roommates and
- 32:24afterwards there was a day he was playing some songs for me
- 32:27and you know, and your father was a very, very good writer.
- 32:31So we were and we, we were fond of freestyling.
- 32:35I played the guitar, he sings, Zamora sings.
- 32:38You know, we just do our thing and just restart.
- 32:41So that day he played some songs and I liked the song.
- 32:48I like the couple of the songs, but that very one, I liked it
- 32:51and I was singing it. I was like, yeah, I want this
- 32:54song, like I like this song. And we spoke about him.
- 32:57He was like, ohh, no worries, like like, no worries.
- 33:00Like you can have the song and all.
- 33:02And it was actually produced by Zaki.
- 33:07It was actually produced by. Exactly, because then the.
- 33:10Northern Nigerian singer turned producer Yeah.
- 33:15Yeah, you people know him as, you know, he produced the
- 33:19fireboy around my song, so. Industries in order to.
- 33:26So. We.
- 33:31Because we're. All roommates too and we're all
- 33:34songwriters. And he he repeated the date and
- 33:37we he came to my side. And as Zaki too was on my side
- 33:41then in Lagos, we recorded it in in second toll gate in Lagos,
- 33:48you know our estate then. So we recorded it and you know,
- 33:53I just did it my way and delivered it my way, you know,
- 33:57and it was cool and I. You know I I told you I.
- 34:02Used to listen to different juries of songs, including South
- 34:07African song. You know, when I heard the song,
- 34:10he the song meant much to me because he had the.
- 34:15He had this. Historical connection with me
- 34:20because of the kind of songs I used to listen to when when I
- 34:23was young. I used to listen to Miriam,
- 34:25Makeba, Humans, Aquila, even Paul Simons, Graceland.
- 34:30I used to listen to it when I was young.
- 34:33So lucky. Lucky doobie.
- 34:35Yeah, Brenda fox. Yeah, random Fossi.
- 34:41I think she's big into those. Yeah.
- 34:43So I just like. The song and the staging
- 34:46experience. Room.
- 34:48Yeah, it was. It was.
- 34:50So that's actually the story of how Soweto was made.
- 34:54And you know it was. It's a beautiful song, which
- 34:56today I still love. I love this song so much.
- 35:00Ohh wow, interested. So speaking.
- 35:01Of South Africa, right? South Africa, where you do have
- 35:05the Spotify analytics for this podcast, right?
- 35:07And the third, you know, the country with the third highest
- 35:11population of listeners to the kingdoms partners to South
- 35:14Africa. Ohh.
- 35:15Nice. Yeah.
- 35:17It just says I think the number one is the UK, #2 is Nigeria, #3
- 35:20South Africa, and I think some other countries are coming up
- 35:23popping up on the likes of France, the likes of.
- 35:26Switzerland, you know, they're they're.
- 35:28Popping up in the analytics, you know, So we're going global.
- 35:31We're going global on on social media.
- 35:35There's a lot of force, you know, made about, you know,
- 35:38Nigerian men and South African women.
- 35:41You know, they're like, oh, when is South Africa woman gets into
- 35:44a Nigerian man face, You know, like Nigerian men are like
- 35:48really carrying, you know, they spent a lot of money for South
- 35:51African women. Have you ever been in your own
- 35:53South African women face? No, no, no.
- 35:57No, no. That you're just you're just
- 36:00digging this away to song, right?
- 36:04No, I just. I just, I just love them
- 36:07generally. I just love S Africans.
- 36:09I love their culture, you know? You know, back in the days they
- 36:13they started this infusing cultures into music.
- 36:17So you can see what. They're feeling Cesar Afina.
- 36:21You could you could actually feel the pain in the song.
- 36:23You could actually feel the pain in every lyrics, you know, even
- 36:27their culture, the dance and everything.
- 36:29So you know it's I'm a I'm a kind of personal if you if you
- 36:32go to my page now there's. Something.
- 36:36There are some two things you will know.
- 36:37There are two things you will notice.
- 36:39This guy likes fashion and this guy likes Afrobeats.
- 36:43The interested. Interest those things would be.
- 36:46Able to pick from my page while just without watching my videos.
- 36:51So that's actually what I exhibit.
- 36:55It is a massive. Movement.
- 36:56But before we talk about Afro Beats, let's talk about my piano
- 36:59because that is, you know, the biggest musical movement from
- 37:02South Africa right now. What what are your thoughts on,
- 37:05you know, on the global acceptance and movement of AMA
- 37:10piano and do we need to see hear any.
- 37:14I'm up here. The sound from you, you know,
- 37:15going into the future. Yeah, all these years I've.
- 37:21Actually been recording that. That's something I never stopped
- 37:24doing. I never stopped writing.
- 37:26I never stopped recording, you know, I've been recording and
- 37:30I've been listening to sounds, listening sounds.
- 37:33So definitely I'm going to this, this, I'm saying for the first
- 37:39time because um, I've been, you know, I've been away for a
- 37:42couple of years from the music musical scene, you know, which
- 37:46will still talk about. You.
- 37:48You're preempting one of my next set of questions.
- 37:52OK, no problem, since you're preempting it, right?
- 37:54No problem. Because that's my script right
- 37:57here in front of my laptop, right?
- 37:58And that is the very next question.
- 38:00Let me read it out to you. Why?
- 38:03Why the? Boss, why the post in your
- 38:06musical career after the Soweto single?
- 38:08So tell us. Yes, this is like you're reading
- 38:11my script, right? OK, preempt me.
- 38:13Tell us. Why the POST?
- 38:17Why do post my musical journey? Yeah, yes.
- 38:20Because you, you definitely have the recording, but you have not
- 38:23been publishing. So tell us, have not been
- 38:25published fans? Yeah.
- 38:26So the fans were there's. A.
- 38:28There's a. Deliberate reason for that.
- 38:29Very deliberate one, you know, the last time I spoke about.
- 38:36I. Spoke about.
- 38:38Me realising I had. In the music space.
- 38:43There are some requirements, yeah.
- 38:46And. Apart from the.
- 38:48You being able to record apart from you being able to.
- 38:54Perform as an. Artist.
- 38:55You're good. You know how to write.
- 38:57There are some knowledge you have to know.
- 39:00That's why some people feel or they don't know how the
- 39:03Nigerians do it. There's a way that's been done.
- 39:06There are some things you must know personally.
- 39:08So after I got out of my libel. I decided I.
- 39:16Wanted to improve myself because I knew personally there's some
- 39:19things I needed to know. And I.
- 39:23Knew the time frame I had. In learning.
- 39:28Some fundamental things, so I tried to go for my masters
- 39:32which. There was no way I could.
- 39:35Have been pushing their masters and my song heavily since I was
- 39:40even in the country. So I had to travel.
- 39:44To Cyprus to get my masters. And when I was done all through
- 39:48those times, I was recording, you know, some days I just
- 39:51snippets and all, but I need that, the managerial knowledge
- 39:57of the music space, you know, OK.
- 40:01Before I. Travelled.
- 40:03I realised that when I was in my when I was on my the formality
- 40:09bill. There were a lot of.
- 40:11Things going on in my head. There were a lot of pains.
- 40:16Going on in my. Heart that I could not voice out
- 40:20to anybody. I wasn't even in the.
- 40:23Space of anybody listening to whatever way to see so now.
- 40:31After I left I. Just had to sit down like, OK,
- 40:34Yeah, I'm not the only person who goes through this kind of
- 40:39thing. Exactly, exactly, yeah.
- 40:42A lot of people to. Going through this kind of thing
- 40:44and they can't see, but you know, you just have to keep
- 40:47moving. So I just realised that OK now.
- 40:50What were the reasons why? These things happen to you.
- 40:53What were the things you needed to know?
- 40:55What were the lessons learned? OK, now for you not to go fix
- 41:00that same thing again. And for you to think.
- 41:03In a In a wider sense, the wider.
- 41:06Just think in a wider picture she needs.
- 41:09Some sort of. Development which made me go to
- 41:12my masters and after then I start I started doing some
- 41:19little little businesses myself. So.
- 41:24Which would lead me. To another section of the whole
- 41:28story, which is the lead music group section of the whole
- 41:31story. OK, but.
- 41:32Then we before we get to the Leeds Music Group, right,
- 41:35Because apparently that's the next thing on on my agenda.
- 41:39Right. But then, you know, let's speak
- 41:41a little bit about the the, the depression that our musical
- 41:46artists actually face. And then I think it they they
- 41:50they've been hit with like a lot of mental pressure in this age
- 41:54and time that if you're not in the limelight, if you're not in
- 41:57the mainstream, you know or probably you probably hit some
- 42:00sort of stardom at some point and then you are not selling as
- 42:05much as you used to be, right, They bring.
- 42:09Up like different. Antics and some of them go into
- 42:13like full on depression. Like what?
- 42:16Why do you think that is happening?
- 42:18You know, in recent time. The reason is this.
- 42:24Basically, let's look at ratio. Which is statistics.
- 42:32The ratio of record labels to. Number of artists would be like
- 42:381. 299. You understand?
- 42:42So now there are some people that are actually do not have
- 42:47anybody to push them. They've invested so much time,
- 42:51so much money, so much of their life into that craft, and it
- 42:56doesn't even seem as if they're doing what they're doing right
- 42:59to get some points. So people don't even have some
- 43:02people feel they need some people to get somewhere and the
- 43:05knowledge of actually getting there.
- 43:07They don't have it, but they know they have the talent.
- 43:09Now the frustration of spending each year kissing that same
- 43:14dream Not. Feeling.
- 43:16You've actually achieved enough. And you have.
- 43:20Pressures around from from yourself.
- 43:26You have pressures from your family.
- 43:27You have pressure from your mom who loves you so much and wants
- 43:31you to. To be.
- 43:35To be a a very successful person, she's supporting your
- 43:39craft while at the same time she's.
- 43:41Scared you yourself you're. Scared.
- 43:45Because even if you get to the top, you'll still be scared of
- 43:48not falling. Ruby was not using.
- 43:51The day, yeah. So there are a lot of people who
- 43:55actually fall into that when they've tried.
- 43:58A whole lot they've tried. They've few actually.
- 44:00They've tried. You know, we don't know about
- 44:01time. We don't know God's plan.
- 44:03So we only work, we only do whatever we're doing in that
- 44:07vacuum of of of that blind spot of, OK, that hope.
- 44:13Consistency. And if I put in the work it's
- 44:16gonna get done. But no that's for some people
- 44:20that if they put in the work pray and they are consistent,
- 44:25the results gonna come. Now let's say 20% gets that
- 44:30arrangement right and the the the result comes there are like
- 44:3680% that actually I've. Been on the.
- 44:40Underground for years. That have not even.
- 44:44Been seen one bit, so a whole lot of people actually.
- 44:48Go through that when. They actually have wasted their
- 44:51time on a lot on that same craft, and it doesn't look
- 44:53bright on the other side too. You know what?
- 44:56Which other way would I go? OK, if this music doesn't work,
- 44:59what would I do? So why is it that you?
- 45:02Don't have a Plan B? Yeah, you should have a Plan B,
- 45:05Plan B and Plan C Yeah, Plan B. Like is like is like out of
- 45:11every artist in Nigeria. The real truth is.
- 45:14Like. If everybody cannot blow
- 45:19everybody. Cannot.
- 45:21No, it cannot. It's it's that's that's a.
- 45:24That's a rule. Some some people.
- 45:28Will. Definitely a whole lot will so.
- 45:31Now there are a lot of. People that actually do not have
- 45:33a Plan B never planned ahead and you know by the time it happens
- 45:42then you would actually be stuck.
- 45:44Then you want you OK, wait till you go.
- 45:47You understand so. I I didn't want to be in that
- 45:51situation too, because to me, the way I see this thing, music
- 45:56is just one is 1 of it. But you don't.
- 46:01I don't want to because of that one.
- 46:05Huge order. My other abilities, my other
- 46:10energies may order probabilities.
- 46:15So I just have to like. Look outside.
- 46:18That's some mathematics. Let me get more knowledge, let
- 46:21me improve myself, let me give myself more options.
- 46:27Let me give myself more. Options in life rather than just
- 46:31one option, which was what I went for.
- 46:35And just who I. Hope.
- 46:37Yeah, What? I hope Young up and coming
- 46:39artists are listening to you, listening to this advice, you
- 46:42know? Yeah, so you know.
- 46:44There are some people that will actually blow, they will
- 46:46actually blow on TikTok. They will actually blow,
- 46:48actually blow, blow and after some time you know they won't
- 46:52pop again. That to is another stage of it.
- 46:56You know, the stage of OK people that don't even get to people.
- 46:58Some people get to blow few months and some people get to
- 47:01like a couple like one or two years and still.
- 47:05Don't have a plan? B.
- 47:08She's just like. Me just thinking.
- 47:12Outside will say, OK, yeah, I can't allow this to happen.
- 47:15If I don't do this, to this, to this, this will happen.
- 47:18But since I've known that it will happen if I don't do it,
- 47:21then I'll be very, very funny if I don't do what I'm supposed to
- 47:25do when I'm supposed to do it. You get that.
- 47:29Angular. So now.
- 47:32If I want to get to a point if I want to drop my songs, I will
- 47:36drop my song with with ease. I don't need this.
- 47:41Song to survive. And if I drop the song, this
- 47:46song is doing well. I still have my money to
- 47:49promote. And if I have a.
- 47:52Deal with someone. I'm not staying in your house.
- 47:56We have a deal. We have a deal, yeah.
- 47:59It's not that my morning food is based on one person.
- 48:04My I have no. So, you know, those are the
- 48:09things that. Those are the the.
- 48:12Realities of the. The.
- 48:16What's going on? Like OK, you have to depend on
- 48:20that person for if you have if you don't have another source of
- 48:24income as an artist. You know that means.
- 48:30If finances stock from that line, that means that's the end.
- 48:35You don't want to put yourself in that situation whereby one
- 48:38person determines either you eat or you don't eat, or you wear
- 48:42your clothes, or you don't wear your clothes.
- 48:45Regardless of. Whatever you do in life, like,
- 48:47it's never a good idea to be overly dependent on any one
- 48:51person, right? Yeah, I know.
- 48:53There will be a situation, there will be times whereby you are in
- 48:57that phase, you are pushing hard 100%.
- 49:00And artists, yeah, that is, that is a normal working routine.
- 49:05But at the same time, I'm just saying like not everybody that
- 49:10can, it's not everybody that can have a label that can actually
- 49:13hold your shoulders completely. To actually push you.
- 49:17Completely. Some liberals can only push your
- 49:20music and push like maybe 60% of what you need.
- 49:26If you need to do other things. Outside the box, you still have
- 49:29to know how you you're going to sort it.
- 49:31And if you are not popping yet and you are still in the face of
- 49:35the label pumping money, you have to do everything right at
- 49:39the same time You have to they They would be pumping money into
- 49:43your project and you you need to actually.
- 49:49Or. That sources of other things you
- 49:51need to do, you have to sort it yourself because you can't go
- 49:54and keep disturbing them for stuffs.
- 49:58When you know that. Livelihoods.
- 50:00Are busy investing. On you.
- 50:02So all those things are what actually gets artistic, OK?
- 50:06You see the artists you know on the TV and you just see him in
- 50:10real life. You realise that like he doesn't
- 50:12even have, you know? It doesn't even have much.
- 50:17There's there's a lot. Of fake life, You know, in in
- 50:19the musical industry, right? Yeah.
- 50:21Well, Speaking of labels, Speaking of labels, let's let's
- 50:24talk about the lead music record label.
- 50:27What's up with Leach Music Record label So.
- 50:31Like Music Group is just the record label arm of the Music
- 50:36Entertainment Limited. The Music Entertainment Limited
- 50:40is still involved in which shows still right now that we are now
- 50:46in the UK, we we do, you know, Rhonda.
- 50:52And that. Yeah, we have the time.
- 50:55We. Had the.
- 50:56Artist Rhonda and when his contract ended we moved to the
- 51:00UK so we had a show. Are you like your co-founder?
- 51:05Are you like, a co-founder of the live music regulator?
- 51:08No, I'm just the. Label Manager and the.
- 51:11One in control of the. Operations of the label and
- 51:14everything. So that face again, I didn't put
- 51:18that face in while I was in Cyprus.
- 51:21I had the opportunity of actually handling the music,
- 51:24which I took the responsibility because that was, that was
- 51:27another phase of the whole entertainment industry that I
- 51:30had not had the experience in. Remember I had the experience of
- 51:35being an artist? Yeah.
- 51:38OK, which every if you. Ask me now about what happened
- 51:43about when I was in my label. I will tell you something, as an
- 51:48artist, no music group gave me the opportunity to actually see
- 51:54things from the record label point of view.
- 51:58You know, I'm. Able to balance differences.
- 52:01Now I'm able to actually see when this person you know is
- 52:06saying this is OK. I'm able to see from the the
- 52:10investors perspective too, which I can say all these things are,
- 52:16you know I didn't. I might just be away.
- 52:21From the frontline scene of the the whole music thing, but I'm
- 52:25making sure I'm. Learning what?
- 52:29I'm supposed to be learning, that's why I said I'm in the
- 52:34self development fees, so I was able to actually see a whole lot
- 52:38of flaws too. And a whole lot of.
- 52:41Dangerous terrain you can actually run into.
- 52:44Actually able to see how the the the.
- 52:48The whole view the. Real promo actually works.
- 52:51What the labels actually go through to actually plug you all
- 52:55around the kind of connect and plugs they have to pull the kind
- 52:59of on your tools they have to be, they have to be on their
- 53:03toes for you. It's your own responsibility is
- 53:06just to get the songs and everything delivers.
- 53:09Must make sure they actually create that pathway for you,
- 53:14which I love. Musicians don't.
- 53:15See this? You know they don't because.
- 53:19You know, sometimes you are asking your label for something
- 53:24of this and the labour is already thinking of something
- 53:28that would skyrocket you, but you're dead disturbing them for
- 53:31another thing. And all those things are
- 53:34actually popping up and everything you know or you have
- 53:39maybe any kind of issues? If you ask the.
- 53:43Label. They will have their side if you
- 53:45ask. The artist will have his own
- 53:49side, so and exactly I've been able to actually get like
- 53:55around. If you're well-rounded.
- 53:58Perspective, yeah. From from both sides, right?
- 54:00Even even the marketing side, even the the online marketing
- 54:06and you know all those things, these are courses are still took
- 54:11exactly so you know when I decide to actually emerge.
- 54:21I'll be. Fully ready, I will know what to
- 54:25what to do, where to do, what not to do.
- 54:29What's listening to and? What not to listen to?
- 54:32Interesting. Well, speaking.
- 54:33Of our emerging right? Like, are we expecting anything
- 54:37from you anytime soon? Yes, bro.
- 54:40Yeah. Yeah, you know something.
- 54:42About music, music will never leave you.
- 54:46You know, you know some. Something dragging your neck.
- 54:48Like dragging your neck. It will never.
- 54:52I tell people what. Music is a fudge to the soul
- 54:54right. And I'm it's it's quite
- 54:56interesting. You know I had I interviewed a
- 54:58guest earlier today and he is actually into music business.
- 55:05So he he owns his own musical. He says company.
- 55:09So he he was talking about sometime when it was from
- 55:13routine. Lady Donny, you know Lady Donny.
- 55:15Yeah. Uh, I said.
- 55:18The previous guest was. Myra Balogun and Danny, At the
- 55:21end of the the, the podcast, you will see the question he left
- 55:24for you. You see the cursor left for you.
- 55:28Well, I'm interested. So on your profile on on on
- 55:32Instagram, you know I snuck out your profile and then I saw
- 55:35back, yeah, you are a KKYC and AML analyst.
- 55:39You know, are you like briefly talk about this and you know
- 55:42what the impact of this costs would have on the society?
- 55:46OK. You know he's he's QC.
- 55:50Let me break it down for people that don't know KYC, KYC, know
- 55:52your customer. And here is.
- 55:55Anti money laundering and my major responsibility is to make
- 55:59sure that whatever customer companies having is actually who
- 56:05he says he is. And this is this.
- 56:09This is one of the ways that we use in tracking down terrorism
- 56:14or money laundering all around the world.
- 56:17So before the money gets into circulation because there are
- 56:20different aspects of it, we have the integration and where you
- 56:26integrate the money into the system.
- 56:29So that point in time before we get to the integration thoughts,
- 56:34we have to have been able to see in the red flag, you know,
- 56:39because some people, you know you, London money and you.
- 56:45Easy to buy. You know Bitcoin or you just
- 56:49flip it or buy cars and sell the cars.
- 56:51Before you know it, the money has landed in another country.
- 56:55So it's our own responsibility to quickly check if the
- 57:00documents you actually provided will verify it with actually
- 57:04what we have on the Internet. Internet, you know, we we check.
- 57:09The company house, we we check. Your information we check you
- 57:13know where if you're if you're you're office you say you own is
- 57:18actually at the location you say it is and we expect if you've
- 57:22sent money to countries that have been red flagged by the
- 57:25FCA. We checked different, different
- 57:28things. Maybe you you you've travelled
- 57:31to that place before and we check where you we actually
- 57:34where you said you would be, the countries you've told us you'll
- 57:38be doing business with. And if we see like.
- 57:42OK. You start doing businesses with
- 57:43some other countries and suspicious and it's frequent we.
- 57:50Actually have to. Look, look at it and escalate
- 57:52it. So in all, it actually keeps the
- 57:57financial industry safe. You know, I mean, obviously.
- 58:01Integrity together it. Helps us to reduce the money
- 58:07that floods into the terrorism world.
- 58:10All the money that's been stolen from on underdeveloped
- 58:13countries, you know and and the likes of.
- 58:17Interest is. It reduces.
- 58:20Those phone misappropriation and you know, all those things.
- 58:27It's quite. Interesting.
- 58:28To see that you're quite resourceful, you know, I am a
- 58:31finance professional myself, you know and we utilise you know,
- 58:34KYC and AML cheques, you know in all of the work that we do.
- 58:39And you know it's fantastic to have you know somebody in into
- 58:44music business, right. And also be resourceful in the
- 58:49the financial world. Kudos to you on that, you know.
- 58:53And OK, so Speaking of Nigeria, the music industry, you know,
- 58:58Nigeria has been the the hot tub of the world.
- 59:02It has been that that there is like the the cake man.
- 59:07Pulls the hot. Cake on the world right now,
- 59:09especially with the Afrobeats movement, right?
- 59:12So can you give your two cents about, you know, the
- 59:16international recognition we are having and where do you see
- 59:18African scoring in the? Next couple of years say. 5-10
- 59:23years like what do you see the Afrobeat movement to win?
- 59:28I see Afrobeat. Actually, even still dominating
- 59:30the mall. Do you know why I said it?
- 59:34If you check your. YouTube now that's what the
- 59:36whole African community is talking about.
- 59:39Every African country. It's Afrobeat.
- 59:42It's the domination of Afrobeat. Now you can either win people by
- 59:47love or. By fear.
- 59:51Now they actually love Afrobeat sound right from time.
- 59:55But now that some countries are even out scared that Ohh won't,
- 59:58it's overshadowed theirs that will still keep them on their
- 1:00:02toes and still be tracking the Afrobeat journey.
- 1:00:08Either by. Podcast or by anything.
- 1:00:10It will be increasing the numbers and you know now that
- 1:00:15Nigerians actually migrated in large numbers in a couple of
- 1:00:18years from like four years ago to now.
- 1:00:22So, and if you notice a Nigerian, if a Nigerian gives
- 1:00:27you food in his house, he's going to play Afrobeat to step
- 1:00:30it down for you. Welcome.
- 1:00:33Everybody. Exactly.
- 1:00:35This is. Heaven is is massive like
- 1:00:38everybody's. APR already so.
- 1:00:40Yeah, and. Now.
- 1:00:41That they're penetrating. And don't forget that Afrobeat
- 1:00:45is multicultural. We get the source of the source
- 1:00:49of the sound, the source of the lyrics, and the source of the
- 1:00:52language from different cultures.
- 1:00:55And. One culture has numerous
- 1:00:58dynamics that you can use to write a song.
- 1:01:01Topless of the numerous culture and you when you start mixing
- 1:01:04things together you start getting different sounds.
- 1:01:07That's why you see Omalley has a sound, Victory has a sound,
- 1:01:10Burna Boy has a sound. Even if you check the, if you,
- 1:01:14if you check like 30 levels down and you go to the streets,
- 1:01:18you'll see some hot artists that's going to emerge.
- 1:01:22And if you notice something in the entertainment industry in
- 1:01:26Nigeria now this is kind of togetherness that that we're
- 1:01:31enjoying now that everybody's promoting for everybody,
- 1:01:35everybody. Is trying to.
- 1:01:36Make sure you see Don Jazzy promoting for this person you
- 1:01:39know. Everybody is trying to push the
- 1:01:41bunch promoting for, you know. We are now realising.
- 1:01:45That yeah, the spotlight is on us.
- 1:01:47Now is the time to take charge and as many people as we can
- 1:01:51push out there from Nigeria, we need to push them out there and
- 1:01:54make sure that we we, this is our spotlight will make use of
- 1:01:58it. Which is what Nigerians are
- 1:01:59actually doing now. Seek his Daniels new two songs.
- 1:02:03Now I saw something about Kidzania that Kazan deserves a
- 1:02:07Grammy. I saw it on X.
- 1:02:10That's an agenda. That can still be pushed.
- 1:02:13That and. Nothing seemed.
- 1:02:16To. Win and.
- 1:02:18Of the songs that you talking about, you said he has two new
- 1:02:21songs. I know there's one about there's
- 1:02:24one tweet you. Have money.
- 1:02:25You have money. No, it's a new.
- 1:02:28Song. No, no he has not released it.
- 1:02:30He hasn't released them. He just dropped the snippets.
- 1:02:32Ohh check his page. Yeah, check.
- 1:02:34His page they're. Hard.
- 1:02:37Like after the two days. Forbid either sound of numerous
- 1:02:43sounds that can, people cannot be tired of it, portable as its
- 1:02:47own side of. Blackburns has his.
- 1:02:53Own side of Afrobeat. So I thought it is flexible.
- 1:02:59So it's you. Can easily get tired of it
- 1:03:02because if you get a smooth Afro depression, now you get
- 1:03:07something from Burna boy, you get from David.
- 1:03:09Do you step you down with this kid?
- 1:03:12You know, even if you still want to go go back, you still can
- 1:03:16still go back to old songs of one day and still be cool.
- 1:03:21Yeah, well, you know. What's really interesting is
- 1:03:23seeing how, you know, foreigners have really come to accept and
- 1:03:29love Afrobeats. You know, there's sometime, I
- 1:03:32think earlier this year I was invited, you know, on a boat
- 1:03:34party somewhere in London, right?
- 1:03:36And then, you know, I met with, you know, people from South
- 1:03:40America and yeah, there's some Spanish guys there as well.
- 1:03:45And then if you see the way they were rocked, Afrobeats, they
- 1:03:50were singing, we skied Ashaka word for word.
- 1:03:53And I was scared. I was like, what?
- 1:03:55What is happening here? These guys are taking this thing
- 1:03:58beyond. Yeah, because that's what they.
- 1:04:01Are playing now and what we can walk in little and you hear that
- 1:04:05boy song. It's, it's, it's.
- 1:04:08It's. Really massive that that it's
- 1:04:10moving. It's massive.
- 1:04:10And then I think another thing that's interesting is seeing the
- 1:04:13fusions, right. I love the the fusions of
- 1:04:15Afrobeats. You know I'm Afrobeats.
- 1:04:17You're having fusions with AMA piano with you know author
- 1:04:22journalist from like different places in the world.
- 1:04:24You know, Afrobeat these fusion with R&B with popping the US
- 1:04:29look at selling. For them to accept it, that made
- 1:04:35it easy for them to understand the sound, because now we can
- 1:04:38mix it with what they understand to create something.
- 1:04:42See. Lonely at the top with her.
- 1:04:45See. Adverse.
- 1:04:46Yeah. She came out on Afro.
- 1:04:47Level, but at the same time, she still gave us the R&B style.
- 1:04:53Give them the five. Each of you got Red, red,
- 1:04:56Grandma, red, red with selling out comments.
- 1:04:59That song is the Global Heats, and they're happy they.
- 1:05:04Can actually jump on the Afro song, which is cool.
- 1:05:09That's like it's it's a massive I think like what's like two
- 1:05:12years ago and Justin Bieber you know did something with Wizkid
- 1:05:16and their teams and even Drake as well, trick as well.
- 1:05:20Did you know our collaborations with teams and we skied as well.
- 1:05:24So, like the the movement is really massive, right?
- 1:05:27So. But but then for you, if you
- 1:05:30were to pick like your top five Afrobeats artists, you know in
- 1:05:34no particular order who, who would those be?
- 1:05:36The top five? My top five.
- 1:05:40OK. My top five will be.
- 1:05:45Like the hottest? Exports from Nigeria right now.
- 1:05:49OK, the hottest. Exports on my own faith.
- 1:05:53On your on your playlist. I'm not talking about people you
- 1:05:56have emotional sentiments about. I'm talking about like, yes,
- 1:06:00because I know Nigerians, right? You not have, you know, faves.
- 1:06:04You have like fan clubs. Like, I don't, I don't identify
- 1:06:08with any fan club. I only identify with good music.
- 1:06:10That is me as a person, right. So I love, you know, anybody
- 1:06:15promoting excellent music from Nigeria, right?
- 1:06:18So for example, for me, when I checked my, you know, it's
- 1:06:21towards the end of the year now, I checked my YouTube Music, I
- 1:06:24checked my Apple Music and they knew they had this summary just
- 1:06:28run down for yeah, yeah, summary, yeah.
- 1:06:30Yeah, and I saw. That my number one was listening
- 1:06:32to artist was Bernard Boy. Number two was a shocker.
- 1:06:35I can't remember 345 but so in terms of the the, the hot
- 1:06:39exports that you're feeling the music right now right and also
- 1:06:44take into cognizance of global recognition who.
- 1:06:49Yeah. Yeah, I'll just take.
- 1:06:52I'll. Say the number one will be
- 1:06:54Ashaki and the reason is. Because he went to U no the
- 1:07:01language. Barrier the reason because the
- 1:07:04reason is because we've been having this noise about
- 1:07:08languages is stopping me from getting some recognitions of
- 1:07:13from doing some things. Now you killed it anyway.
- 1:07:17So for him having those numbers and have still having that
- 1:07:21strong fanbase outside Nigeria, that's why he has been able but
- 1:07:26so I'll see Burna boy. Yeah.
- 1:07:30Burnout. Burnout.
- 1:07:33Makes. Cool moves.
- 1:07:34Like, legit moves. You understand.
- 1:07:37That's why I love. About him and you know, moves
- 1:07:39that makes sense. My third would be Rima.
- 1:07:46I told you the Rama. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:49I love. I love Rama.
- 1:07:51But my thought. Did you say 4 or?
- 1:07:545 5. 5. My 4th would be Aristar.
- 1:08:02I guess I. You tried to teach gender
- 1:08:04equality now? No, I'm, I'm.
- 1:08:08I'm. I'm really.
- 1:08:09Really. Alexa.
- 1:08:12Come here. Like now she's had some
- 1:08:16collaborations with UK artists and then she's been on like the
- 1:08:19UK Top 40. Yeah, I I followed this.
- 1:08:22Yeah, Netherlands. Top of the charts.
- 1:08:28Then the last. One the last one, I think the
- 1:08:31reason I'm putting the last one is it might not be in one of the
- 1:08:37this. Exports or.
- 1:08:38Top exports are, but I know you know you see that places on
- 1:08:42your. Top five or your top five,
- 1:08:44right? Interesting.
- 1:08:45You're gonna have you're gonna have a hundred group mentions
- 1:08:48after the top five. So let's let's have #5.
- 1:08:51Let's have #5 #5. Who?
- 1:08:56Who would? I put in number.
- 1:08:58Five. Let me see, Let me see.
- 1:08:59Let me see my playlist. You wanted to add somebody?
- 1:09:03Just now, do you want to push that person to the honourable
- 1:09:07mentions? Feel free.
- 1:09:11OK, let me. See.
- 1:09:12Let me see on my knee, Let me see on my knee on my.
- 1:09:15Knee but. The person actually went to
- 1:09:17mention was victory big. Tony.
- 1:09:21Wow, interesting guys. Victor has a unique style.
- 1:09:24And Tony is. Tony would go hard.
- 1:09:28With Tony would go. Hard.
- 1:09:32Yeah. Very, very, very, very bad.
- 1:09:35And he's he's a good, right. He's a math.
- 1:09:37He's a awesome writer. Like you and.
- 1:09:40Even his voice, I appreciate his songs, not just love his songs.
- 1:09:43I appreciate what he's he's just what Rema is doing.
- 1:09:46I appreciate that he's doing what he's doing because those
- 1:09:49are the reason. See, the more we have all these
- 1:09:51unique sounds, those are the things that will keep Afrobeat
- 1:09:54more alive. You know, the more young people
- 1:09:57that actually to be different, pops.
- 1:10:00Up. You know, give them Sharma
- 1:10:03today, give them chicken Goujon tomorrow, You know, just mix it
- 1:10:08up with them. Don't let them you're.
- 1:10:10Actually, the spice of life. Yeah, you know, our Afro
- 1:10:14beauties. And this is how it's known in
- 1:10:17media. Don't get us.
- 1:10:18You understand? Yeah.
- 1:10:20You won't be tired. Who would you stop this?
- 1:10:22You know, I I like the fact that now if you think about Nigeria,
- 1:10:25you can actually first think about Afro beat before thinking
- 1:10:28about crime. Exactly, you know.
- 1:10:32Very, very sweet because he's actually helping us that
- 1:10:35actually outside Nigeria that's why you know a whole lot of us
- 1:10:39are actually pushing the agenda because you know while I was in
- 1:10:43in Cyprus, yeah, diesel times they do not want to give
- 1:10:49Nigerian homes, same as in Turkey too, just the one that
- 1:10:53give Nigerian homes cause it's because of the bad name and
- 1:10:56everything. But now he's about the bad
- 1:10:59reputation. Bad.
- 1:11:01Reputation. And everything.
- 1:11:04Yeah. So even if you don't know why
- 1:11:06they're like that. Yeah, I.
- 1:11:09Said. I do have my crazy.
- 1:11:10Story on on. Go ahead.
- 1:11:13Go ahead. Don't worry like I.
- 1:11:15Want you I want to hear your honourable mentions before
- 1:11:17before OK, so my my honourable. Mentions would be.
- 1:11:25Like I said, Victory. Who else?
- 1:11:30Who else? Who?
- 1:11:31Else. Who else?
- 1:11:31Who else? Who else?
- 1:11:33OK. People, I actually think that
- 1:11:35can still take over. Oh no, no.
- 1:11:40Before that. When the call, Yeah, When the
- 1:11:43call, please. When the call before victory
- 1:11:45mean. Sorry.
- 1:11:48ID that one you call? Yeah.
- 1:11:53He's one of the guys that I will listen to and listen to and
- 1:11:56listen to. And I wouldn't.
- 1:11:59You know, get that you would notice that Wizkid and Davido
- 1:12:04are not on my. Ohh my.
- 1:12:07Top exports? Yeah.
- 1:12:09Why? Why do?
- 1:12:10Why do Because. Whole lot is changing.
- 1:12:16Now, yeah. OK.
- 1:12:18And your whole lot is going. To change.
- 1:12:20So in terms of the at the moment, at the moment stuff,
- 1:12:25yeah. At least for this year.
- 1:12:28Yeah, I'm I'm building it on that for WW.
- 1:12:32Didn't really do. Much this year.
- 1:12:35But you know the. Whole thing.
- 1:12:37You're not gonna come after you. Yeah, indeed.
- 1:12:43Whiskey needed a. Rest.
- 1:12:44No whiskey needed. Rest this year, OK.
- 1:12:47Just give me the rest this. Year generally.
- 1:12:50In terms of our best exports, yeah, definitely.
- 1:12:55Whiskey and Davido are going to top it.
- 1:12:58You understand? But for this year, you know,
- 1:13:00right now, music is as it's happening, as it's happening
- 1:13:03before you know it. Another another thing, however,
- 1:13:07yeah. So.
- 1:13:09OK then, that's where we skied one.
- 1:13:13One of the cool and and DeVito are going to be, you understand,
- 1:13:20So they are actually always there.
- 1:13:21They're always there. But the people that are actually
- 1:13:23making it are actually. Like that actually.
- 1:13:27Then remote actually drilling hard now for us.
- 1:13:30Yeah, Burna Boy is actually drilling hard for us now at the
- 1:13:33moment. You.
- 1:13:35Understand. But Bernard Boy performed at
- 1:13:38What's It ohh some some international soccer?
- 1:13:45Events. Happens.
- 1:13:48Yeah, you have a Champions League final, right?
- 1:13:51But remember, was he performed at the balloon d'Or ceremony,
- 1:13:56right, David, who performed at the World Cup?
- 1:13:58You know it's each. Year to.
- 1:14:01See Afrobeats, you know, being, you know, performed, being
- 1:14:04presented at the global stage, at the very peaks of the global
- 1:14:09stage. And you know, it's it's
- 1:14:11fantastic, makes you proud to be a Nigerian, to identify as a
- 1:14:15Nigerian, to identify as an African, you know?
- 1:14:18To see. That you know, the African
- 1:14:19people with any state really going places.
- 1:14:22But mind you, you know you have the mainstream Afrobeats and
- 1:14:25then you still have, you know journalists of Afro beats that
- 1:14:31are like alter crews, like the alternative music.
- 1:14:35You know, pioneered by the people that people people like
- 1:14:37see me, I think I didn't really used to be like awesome alter
- 1:14:41alter, cruise, but I think it's kind of the.
- 1:14:47OK, people like. See me people like Oladipo, you
- 1:14:51know they just. Only.
- 1:14:53Yeah, so. So, So what do you think about
- 1:14:55those guys like they are like another industry on their own?
- 1:15:01Another industry on their own. If you notice the way, the way
- 1:15:05Afrobeat is, we have people that sound like this, we have people
- 1:15:09like that sound like this, and we have people that sound like
- 1:15:12this. And we now have people that.
- 1:15:14OK, I want to sound like this. Let me bring two of the ways to
- 1:15:18me does this, this, this. Let me bring one of that.
- 1:15:22Let me sound like, let me use Ijesha Small here, let me use.
- 1:15:26So that's how Afrobeat is. All those juries just still
- 1:15:29makes the whole industry complete that's why these two
- 1:15:33can they will not still understand how it how it is
- 1:15:36because you have a cheeky that sounds that way you have a
- 1:15:40portable that sounds this way you still have Someone Like You
- 1:15:44cash that sounds the way it sounds.
- 1:15:46So there are some people that they they grew up listening to
- 1:15:50Lil Kesh or they grew up listening to wonder could see
- 1:15:52Oxley said he grew up listening to wonderful so wonderful had a
- 1:15:56great influence on his sound. So now all the sounds that we
- 1:16:00now still have now a lot of people will still in new
- 1:16:02generation thoughts to pick from those sounds build on it.
- 1:16:06So it's still keep on building new sounds because someone might
- 1:16:11make teaching coaching was mixing Chinese.
- 1:16:14Yeah. That is another.
- 1:16:16Style. So you know.
- 1:16:19They are. They are actually doing their
- 1:16:20group, like seeming now, seeming.
- 1:16:21Semi has an audience. People that love.
- 1:16:24I like people that love melodious songs, people I love
- 1:16:27Indigenous songs, alternative songs.
- 1:16:30You know, she can still do all she can still do our R&B people
- 1:16:34that they still have their own fanbase and those kind of songs
- 1:16:38tend to feed us with good content.
- 1:16:40Those kind of songs are the songs that have the good lyrics.
- 1:16:43So now, by the time you've done Fuji Small, you want to put some
- 1:16:48vocal dexterity into your thing, You move into R&B people, the
- 1:16:52way they sing, you put time. There's more, you know, all
- 1:16:54those things. So it's just.
- 1:16:57It's just a full industry. That will have, which we are
- 1:17:00actually enjoying now. Don't forget we still have the
- 1:17:02songwriters we have to promote as the managers, the event
- 1:17:06planners, you know, all those people that are underground
- 1:17:09doing their work, the PR's, the Naidu and the lights, everybody
- 1:17:13playing his part. So you see that you know the the
- 1:17:16whole engine of everything is coming from Nigeria, the 200.
- 1:17:20Almost almost 3. 100 million people, you're putting the
- 1:17:24engine. They are the engine which
- 1:17:26resonates outside that we are listening here.
- 1:17:29You you you understand. So that's why so.
- 1:17:33Far. Nigerians are keeping it hot.
- 1:17:37Do you would you stop? Them now because you have
- 1:17:39Nigerian everywhere around the world, yes.
- 1:17:43Your friend your. White friends.
- 1:17:44Now at least they will have heard one or two Afrobeat songs
- 1:17:47from you. Yeah, definitely.
- 1:17:50I'm I'm a big ambassador of of of afrobeats.
- 1:17:53I think I I I like got into some sort of like argument with
- 1:17:58somebody you know when she told me that she does not like Afro
- 1:18:02beats and like she don't like me.
- 1:18:06I don't feel like ohh, why are you afraid?
- 1:18:11Some people don't like the first listening, so people don't like
- 1:18:16it. Depends on the introductory
- 1:18:18song. For instance, Yeah, if you if,
- 1:18:22if. You go and meet.
- 1:18:22Your white friend and she likes to see me kind of song and she
- 1:18:26likes, I'm sorry, R&B and you play Afrobeat.
- 1:18:31In R&B. Form to her, she would connect
- 1:18:35easily. From there, she can listen to
- 1:18:37more from there. She's already understanding the
- 1:18:39sound. But if you go and bring the if
- 1:18:42grand play he potable or a fast song to someone that likes
- 1:18:48violin, tempo, kind of of violin sound, kind of song, you know
- 1:18:53she might not quickly connect and you just give them.
- 1:18:55The the fusion, the the Afro fusion that you know connects to
- 1:18:59their own like musical background sometimes.
- 1:19:01OK. And some things what fascinates
- 1:19:03me is that sometimes you will hear a random song, fast beat
- 1:19:08song that you don't expect what person to like and they're just
- 1:19:12gonna like it and they just want to do that move they are doing
- 1:19:15there. So you know, so it depends you.
- 1:19:17Know. Yeah, music has gone a long way
- 1:19:20and you know, you know in clubs, right?
- 1:19:25Logo like a white dominated clubs.
- 1:19:28They like EDM. That's electronic dance.
- 1:19:30Yeah, yes. Like I was like after the UK
- 1:19:34recently and then you know, I was in one of those clubs and I
- 1:19:38saw that the DJ was playing Afrobeats you know, at EDM or
- 1:19:44what is happening here, you know.
- 1:19:49Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:19:51You need to those techno you know.
- 1:19:55It was yeah. They're just doing that dance.
- 1:19:58I like ohh wow like interested proud proud of these properties.
- 1:20:02Let's I forgot my, my my my Crime Story.
- 1:20:06Right. So I, you know, I, I, I work as
- 1:20:08an auditor. Right.
- 1:20:09And then there's some time out in you know some client office
- 1:20:14and I was, you know, having a conversation with one of the
- 1:20:18staff members and then the staff member asked me oh, where are
- 1:20:21you from? I said, oh, I'm from Nigeria.
- 1:20:24And then the lady she's helped to make and how foolish, right.
- 1:20:30And then guess what she told me. She said oh wow that's ohh if
- 1:20:33from Nigeria. I I hear the lot of criminals
- 1:20:36from Nigeria is that why they're bringing an auditor like you
- 1:20:39from Nigeria so that you can detect our crime was like what
- 1:20:44the hell? Like OK you can you can easily
- 1:20:47detect fraud. Fraud was where she used, like I
- 1:20:52felt, really. But then I had, you know, if
- 1:20:55you're a professional environment, you have to compose
- 1:20:57yourself at all. Yeah.
- 1:20:58Yeah, Yeah. I guess, guess, guess what I did
- 1:21:00in that kind of situation, right.
- 1:21:01You know, I have to educate that.
- 1:21:03I thought that, right. I see that, you know, you've
- 1:21:06been hearing a lot of negative press about Nigeria.
- 1:21:10Let's, let's have a conversation.
- 1:21:13What do you think? Is the population of the UK just
- 1:21:15like, oh, she did not know. OK, let's check the Internet.
- 1:21:18I think we were like around 6 to 6,000,000 thereby, right.
- 1:21:22Then after like, what do you think the population of Nigeria
- 1:21:24least she was like ohh should be less than the UK.
- 1:21:26I said no, I'm sorry. It is.
- 1:21:28We checked it was more than 200 million right?
- 1:21:30After that. The law of numbers, right.
- 1:21:32If you have like a lot of people, more than 200 million,
- 1:21:36OK you would agree with me that you have a good, the bad and the
- 1:21:40ugly, right? She said yes, that's a good
- 1:21:42right. So.
- 1:21:44We have a large population. Spread.
- 1:21:45So we have like, you know both the good and the people around
- 1:21:49you and you know and you know that, you know negative use
- 1:21:53sales faster, right. Yeah.
- 1:21:55She's like looking yes. And then let me tell you
- 1:21:57something. In Nigeria, we have a culture of
- 1:21:59excellence, right? Nigerians have the best doctors
- 1:22:03in the world, the best nurses in the world, the best IT experts
- 1:22:06in the world, the best accountants in the world, like
- 1:22:09myself, right? But then you don't get, you
- 1:22:13know, good press for being the best accountant in the world.
- 1:22:16You don't get good press for being, you know, one of the best
- 1:22:19doctors in the world unless, you know, come up with some miracle
- 1:22:23innovation or something, right? And then you.
- 1:22:26Know also, we also have the best fraudsters in the world, right?
- 1:22:31Right. You know you have.
- 1:22:33You have. Everything.
- 1:22:36Ohh, yeah, I'll be the best at anything that you do, whether it
- 1:22:38is positive or negative. And it's just like, ohh, wow,
- 1:22:41thank you very much for educating me about the culture
- 1:22:43of blah blah, blah, you know? And then she was like, ohh,
- 1:22:46she'd love to visit that dress something like it.
- 1:22:48Nice, nice, nice, good one here. But.
- 1:22:50Then I think a lot. Of Nigerians react to these
- 1:22:53things in a very combative way. You get it when people say
- 1:22:56something that's nice probably come from like you puppy attack
- 1:22:59them, don't feel attacked. No, no, no, Love.
- 1:23:03Yes. Spread the love you know And
- 1:23:04then to know about Afro beats. Ohh.
- 1:23:06Well, yeah. He said to about this song.
- 1:23:08I didn't even. Know that Ohh no this, you know
- 1:23:10guys are from that jersey, yet they are from Nigeria.
- 1:23:12That is our music on Xbox. You know it's, you know, I don't
- 1:23:17know they carry last. So that's you.
- 1:23:19That's. You actually changing that
- 1:23:22opinion in just, yeah, you. Know Effective few minutes.
- 1:23:26Yeah, now she has. Another thing to say about that
- 1:23:28same country. He gets, you know, like bad
- 1:23:32news, spreads like wildfire, but then, you know, I think for
- 1:23:36everybody. Outside Nigeria, yeah.
- 1:23:38Irrespective of how ohh, I don't like that please.
- 1:23:42So there's something you can take away from me that that's
- 1:23:45your country, and at any point in time you should still try
- 1:23:49your best to still preach that light from the country, because
- 1:23:54it is on us. To be good ambassadors of the
- 1:23:56country on us. Yeah, it is on us you.
- 1:23:59Know and I I try my own very beats you know I I I put in my
- 1:24:03work every day. You know I try to be the best
- 1:24:05that you know anything that I'm doing.
- 1:24:07I try to inspire people you know I try to put people on a
- 1:24:10positive path. I tried to spread positive
- 1:24:12energy right everyday my life. So and you know me being the
- 1:24:17responsible individual by contributing to any environment
- 1:24:21positively that I am in. You know I I want to believe
- 1:24:25that you know that is a good you know ambassadorship of the
- 1:24:29country. The country should actually be
- 1:24:30paying me for being a good. Well, I don't get.
- 1:24:35I don't get the flowers. I don't get the kudos that I
- 1:24:38deserve, right? Get my tear.
- 1:24:42Right. So.
- 1:24:43So what? Are you Alright?
- 1:24:44These you know your interests. You know?
- 1:24:46How do you balance Kavya's personal life?
- 1:24:52My hobbies. When I want to relax, I like to
- 1:24:56play game, play FIFA or NFS, you know, and I watch the YouTube, I
- 1:25:05like to watch new things like OK, how to talk this, how to do
- 1:25:08that. Then I watched the news.
- 1:25:10I like anything that has to do with events.
- 1:25:13Maybe there's a war somewhere or there's something happening
- 1:25:16somewhere. I'd like to be up to date.
- 1:25:18And at the same time, I'm into ecommerce too, you know,
- 1:25:22ecommerce business and you know I build ecommerce stores, you.
- 1:25:28Know. So for young business
- 1:25:31entrepreneurs, you know, that's one of the other ways that we're
- 1:25:34trying to connect to black people.
- 1:25:38Even here in the UK you know they love black people doing
- 1:25:41excellent things bro. So.
- 1:25:44I tried to every. Time.
- 1:25:46That's why we can actually easily connect, you know, I have
- 1:25:50another friend like that, Dio. He's doing great stuff, so I
- 1:25:54like people that. Value Dial.
- 1:25:59Dial teach. OK, I did.
- 1:26:01That experience with the media, it's a diet so that people can
- 1:26:07love. Good things here which I
- 1:26:11appreciate. So what I do is for young
- 1:26:15business owners, I do help them to build ecommerce stores.
- 1:26:19You know, you know, you know the whole the old marketing world
- 1:26:27and the old ecommerce world has already changed.
- 1:26:30So a lot of people actually being able to set up their
- 1:26:33stores as young business owners and being able to market it as a
- 1:26:38story. You don't have to own a wide
- 1:26:40website. You can just, you know, have a
- 1:26:43place where you have your own store where you can actually
- 1:26:47market from to your promotions and the like.
- 1:26:52So it helps young, majorly black or African business owners to be
- 1:26:58able to reach out more and to increase their sales to.
- 1:27:02So these are other areas that actually spend my time on.
- 1:27:07So anytime I'm not working I'm either on the system trying to
- 1:27:11check although. Ways.
- 1:27:14Of getting things done or trying to help people get things done,
- 1:27:19or doing things for myself in terms of my ecommerce business
- 1:27:23too. So so.
- 1:27:24So. Majorly.
- 1:27:25That's it. So you get the.
- 1:27:28Picture of what I said you're. Quite.
- 1:27:31Resourceful. Yes, yes, I try.
- 1:27:33My best to actually get my hands on things because, you know, I
- 1:27:37realised that I've suffered enough on trying to get things
- 1:27:42done or trying to find people to help me to get some things done.
- 1:27:45So rather than just going through all those stress and at
- 1:27:49some point you know don't end up getting it done, why don't I
- 1:27:53just learn it myself if you DIY? Ideas yourself, yeah.
- 1:27:59Yeah, why? Bro, yeah.
- 1:28:01And you know, here. And again, yeah, it's it's.
- 1:28:06You. It's a very you must know how to
- 1:28:08do it. A lot of things yourself, or
- 1:28:10else absolutely. Your, your or your on your own?
- 1:28:15What's keep the brains? Open.
- 1:28:17Yes. So what skills are copied or
- 1:28:20competency, right? Are you proud of what the world
- 1:28:24you know is yet to know about? Like people really don't know
- 1:28:26about that? Then it's a skill or competence.
- 1:28:31My skill and. Competence that I I will.
- 1:28:33I will actually pick 4. OK, that.
- 1:28:36People don't know about people's secret.
- 1:28:39Secret. Right.
- 1:28:40OK, People don't know about? Yes, so.
- 1:28:43For. Example.
- 1:28:44So for example myself, right, I'm a great chef.
- 1:28:47I can shift it up, you know, like I have cooked for it like
- 1:28:52large numbers of people and they enjoy it.
- 1:28:54You know both Africans and non Africans, you know they enjoy my
- 1:28:59food right. And it's something that would be
- 1:29:01really proud of. He gets it, but not like not so
- 1:29:03many people know about that, but possibly open the restaurant,
- 1:29:07restaurants here and down down the line because I am like a
- 1:29:12very big external cooking African food.
- 1:29:16OK. Let me see.
- 1:29:20OK, I'm not gonna. Mention cooking because you
- 1:29:22already mentioned cooking. But I cook.
- 1:29:26Good too, though I cook very very good like.
- 1:29:29Yeah, but not as good as me, but not as good as me.
- 1:29:31So that's why you don't want to mention it.
- 1:29:35OK. I can say my relationship with
- 1:29:39people. OK, I have.
- 1:29:42A very, very, very sweet relationship with you.
- 1:29:45I wouldn't say cool. You know, I'm a kind of.
- 1:29:48A person that even if I have issues with you, I don't want to
- 1:29:53want to see you get hurt. So I'm that kind of person that
- 1:29:55will still look out for you. Even if I'm not.
- 1:30:00Texting you day by D and they're watching out for you.
- 1:30:07And if I've told you that, yeah, I got you.
- 1:30:10Even if you CI myself nothing, say I don't have you, OK?
- 1:30:17Interesting, I see if I say. Ohh.
- 1:30:19I'm I'm gonna call like ohh and you don't see my call that time.
- 1:30:23Don't think I'm not out there still trying to, you know do
- 1:30:27things in your favour. Yeah, your favour.
- 1:30:30So. Can you please, can you please
- 1:30:34say You Got Me and you got the King this podcast so that we
- 1:30:37have it on record? Nice.
- 1:30:40Nice. We will hold you up to it, you
- 1:30:45know. Listen, you listen to what He
- 1:30:48said. He's got the Kingdom's podcast.
- 1:30:49Yeah, they only talked about me is the.
- 1:30:52Only thing that puts me off is or if you maybe take me for
- 1:30:57granted or stuff, but I just believe that I believe
- 1:31:01something. You just have to treat people
- 1:31:03good because there's something times that you just realise
- 1:31:06that, OK? You might be.
- 1:31:10You might be uncool to me now, but everybody just has their
- 1:31:13own, you know, bad sides and all.
- 1:31:15And if I check myself, I just say that I have.
- 1:31:18So why not just, you know, turn it down a little bit and you
- 1:31:22know, on the lighter mode, you know, and I understand that some
- 1:31:24terrains don't. You can't.
- 1:31:28Be cool in some terrains. You know you.
- 1:31:33Aspire Ninja Boy you know when to switch up your Yeah ohh, I'm
- 1:31:39just talking about you know if I say yeah, I got you for you I do
- 1:31:45That's nice That's. Nice that that's that's a nice
- 1:31:47one. So, So what advice do you have
- 1:31:49for the younger generation? You know the up and coming young
- 1:31:53people, right? Based on your life experiences,
- 1:31:55So what advice you have for them in order for them to succeed in
- 1:31:58life? The first thing I would say is
- 1:32:03if anybody is lucky to have two parents or one parent at the
- 1:32:07point where they still have them, they should actually
- 1:32:10listen to some things they say. So that's just the first.
- 1:32:14Thing just normal DVD stuff, you know normal things you pick up
- 1:32:17like ohh don't you like that you like that, don't do like that
- 1:32:20too like that. You understand.
- 1:32:21So from that you can actually pick some things and to actually
- 1:32:25easily stick you know it's better than formal education
- 1:32:28that they have to sit you down, put you on here.
- 1:32:30Then two again is the ability to actually be more resourceful at
- 1:32:34the younger age. No.
- 1:32:38Always push like there's something in the energy, the
- 1:32:41energy level, because right now. If you notice that the.
- 1:32:47Internet has made us and the people who are in the age 15.
- 1:32:53We do watch the. Same thing at the same time.
- 1:32:55We experience the same thing at the same time.
- 1:32:57If they check that when they are saying the same thing, you're
- 1:32:59seeing. Back in the days, it wasn't like
- 1:33:02that. There were still places kids can
- 1:33:04go and places elderly people cannot take.
- 1:33:09Kids too so. Everything is running at a.
- 1:33:14Faster speed now so you know for every opportunity one has one
- 1:33:19has to just make use of that opportunity or even if
- 1:33:23definitely you actually lose opportunities, definitely even
- 1:33:28the richest man in the world. You know dangerous gates first
- 1:33:31opportunity and made use of it. So the ability to actually pull
- 1:33:35up yourself again and not give up on life.
- 1:33:39And actually saying that ohh, I've made a mistake here, let me
- 1:33:43just not make the mistake again because either like it or not,
- 1:33:47they might could be another opportunity and from that you
- 1:33:49still have. To go to that.
- 1:33:52Thing again, but if you don't learn from what you already.
- 1:33:57The the mistakes. You already had, you know, you
- 1:34:00still keep on making mistakes. So generally it's just to, you
- 1:34:03know, increase the energy, you know, just increase the energy
- 1:34:07and open the mind. Learn more about anything you
- 1:34:10know could be useful. So you know if.
- 1:34:14You want if you don't learn more, you can get stranded at
- 1:34:16some point in your life and not knowing where to move to.
- 1:34:19But if you you know. If you are more resourceful, you
- 1:34:22know you have options that you can quickly build on.
- 1:34:27Basically, no that's that's that's.
- 1:34:30Perspective. You know, I keep very much into
- 1:34:33the aspect of learning because for me, I feel like learning the
- 1:34:38learning ability, the learning culture is something that has
- 1:34:41been very pivotal to my own personal success in life.
- 1:34:44You know, I pride myself in not knowing everything, but then
- 1:34:48knowing how to get the knowledge to do anything that I want to
- 1:34:52get into. And it's actually very vital to
- 1:34:55be hungry for knowledge while we're growing up.
- 1:34:57These is not knowledge. Is power, right?
- 1:35:00Right. And then you know.
- 1:35:01But then I feel like no, it's just applied knowledge that is
- 1:35:04power applied it. Is.
- 1:35:06Applied knowledge that that these power so the previous
- 1:35:11guess who is you know. An.
- 1:35:14Entrepreneur in the music business industry, right, has
- 1:35:19left a question for Hugh that. Is my.
- 1:35:22Right do. You want to hear?
- 1:35:24The question he has for you all right.
- 1:35:28Drug. Rules.
- 1:35:29Yeah, hello. He says.
- 1:35:35Where do you see the world heading to in the next five
- 1:35:38years? You know, generally like
- 1:35:40economically and politically. What is the?
- 1:35:44Trajectory. What is your projection of?
- 1:35:47You know where the world is heading to.
- 1:35:49In the next five years. I.
- 1:35:53Believe. There's a tussle of power in the
- 1:35:56political structure of the world right now, and there are some
- 1:35:59determinants that actually there are some things are actually
- 1:36:03going to be the determinant of what's going to happen.
- 1:36:06For instance, the war in Israel and the the the alignment and
- 1:36:13the allied forces that will be coming together to form treaties
- 1:36:17or to form laws. Now a lot of countries were not
- 1:36:20friends before, but this war has brought them together friends.
- 1:36:23And now it's actually some restructuring that happening in
- 1:36:28the perspective of people. That's in the political world
- 1:36:33though. So a whole lot of things are
- 1:36:35going to change both internally in individual countries and
- 1:36:40democratic elections. You know, new leaders will
- 1:36:43change and you know all of this. So now we should expect.
- 1:36:49It wouldn't be. Like something like Ohh, we'll
- 1:36:51just see everything. But we should just expect change
- 1:36:54and economically to we. We all know that you know power
- 1:36:57is shifting to so each. Year.
- 1:37:00And in terms of the economic world, you know every little
- 1:37:04thing I see on the street now made in China, made in China,
- 1:37:08you know even all this ecommerce stores, the whole lot of this
- 1:37:11factories they are in that side of the world.
- 1:37:14So I believe that with the 5G and the Internet now and the
- 1:37:22increased usage of the Internet, you know, a lot of new
- 1:37:27connectivity possibilities will actually emerge in terms of
- 1:37:31sales, in terms of, you know, new countries will actually new,
- 1:37:38new countries actually made in terms of stronger countries, but
- 1:37:41major countries to they are actually going through their own
- 1:37:43turmoils now, each country has their own economic issues now
- 1:37:47beat the strong order, the weak. So I believe that this moment
- 1:37:51the determinant of the whole of things that will see as a result
- 1:37:55in the next 10 years, because the whole lot is happening now
- 1:38:00in a single year than it used to happen before.
- 1:38:07Interesting dynamics. Interesting dynamics in at the
- 1:38:10global stage. Let's let's watch and see what
- 1:38:14unfolds. You know at the.
- 1:38:16Yeah, and. Finally, you know what question
- 1:38:19would you love to leave for the next guest to answer?
- 1:38:25OK. The question would.
- 1:38:28Be. And what what do you?
- 1:38:34Think is the real essence of life.
- 1:38:37What do you think was the real essence that made and that that
- 1:38:44that because the the creation of life was.
- 1:38:47If you want to actually think about it now, what's the main
- 1:38:50essence of life? The we these there.
- 1:38:54Have been any essence of life that we're just the creator just
- 1:39:00decided that OK, they they they have to leave and later decided,
- 1:39:04OK, now they have to die too. So they didn't just be leaving
- 1:39:06and be dying. What, from his own perspective,
- 1:39:09what does he think the essence of?
- 1:39:13The insights of. Our existence is.
- 1:39:17Creation or. Evolution.
- 1:39:20That's a tough. 1. For next best thing I do every
- 1:39:23the next guest anyways OK so basically every copy of question
- 1:39:27like what is the essence of? Life.
- 1:39:31Right. That is how the life come to be.
- 1:39:36Right is it? True creation?
- 1:39:38Is it true evolution? But I mean the view.
- 1:39:42I mean the real bottom line of the whole story.
- 1:39:45Say OK, we came to the world. What does he think it could be?
- 1:39:50Or how does it see? It's like, what?
- 1:39:52Does he actually make sense to him?
- 1:39:54OK, why are we even doing what we are doing?
- 1:39:57Wow, even coming to do other things.
- 1:39:59How does it see it? OK.
- 1:40:02OK, what's the essence of life like?
- 1:40:05What's like. Yeah, life.
- 1:40:09Like, why are we here? How do we even?
- 1:40:12George Ohh as he achieved his purpose in life or as it what is
- 1:40:16the what I just want him to say in from his own perspective in
- 1:40:21an open over. From an open, open-ended
- 1:40:24perspective perspective. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:40:27What's his appeal? Essence of life and what's the
- 1:40:30purpose of life right been so ah we'll get to that bridge across
- 1:40:37it so definitely you have to you will you will be the first
- 1:40:41person to get a video clip off the next guest as you like deep
- 1:40:49very deep question at this at this point I need to really
- 1:40:54really thank you for your time today.
- 1:40:58I'm very, very big on gratitude and appreciation, you know.
- 1:41:02Appreciate you very much, my brother.
- 1:41:04I wish for you greater heights, you know, bigger kids, you know,
- 1:41:08bigger blessings in your life. You.
- 1:41:13You will achieve you. Are a high achiever.
- 1:41:15But then you will become a higher achiever, right?
- 1:41:20Thank you very, very much. Thank you, brother.
- 1:41:22Appreciate it. Was nice having you having me on
- 1:41:25your show, bro. OK.
- 1:41:27OK. Take care, brother, OK?
