- 0:10Speaker 1: Jez is the gold reform. Tonight a warning the Reserve
- 0:16Speaker 1: Bank says actually inflation could go up again. Plus talk
- 0:22Speaker 1: about La La Land. Why is this election not about
- 0:24Speaker 1: our defense when China has a sponship off our coast
- 0:28Speaker 1: and has now sent nineteen warships to threaten Taiwan, even
- 0:32Speaker 1: putting out a bizarre video clip abusing to one's president,
- 0:36Speaker 1: calling him a parasite. This is so ominous. Also tonight,
- 0:40Speaker 1: another deal in trouble after telling a sexual joke to
- 0:44Speaker 1: a teenage hairdresser and Prince Andrew's accused. The Sessions now
- 0:48Speaker 1: just four days from death after a horrific mystery accident.
- 0:53Speaker 1: The mystery is local. Please say we have no record,
- 0:57Speaker 1: but first I'll tell you later about the premise's latest
- 1:01Speaker 1: security blunder as China sends out that military task force
- 1:05Speaker 1: to warn the world. But underneath this election campaign, it's
- 1:08Speaker 1: something sinister. I'll show you footage that will probably shock you.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Its threats against politicians visiting moths or even being chased
- 1:18Speaker 1: out of mosques. There's something that's been downplayed because who
- 1:23Speaker 1: wants to be called racist? Who wants to be the
- 1:25Speaker 1: next target. Yesterday, Liberal MP Jason Wood form a detective
- 1:29Speaker 1: and counter terrorism officer visited a prayer event in Dandenong,
- 1:32Speaker 1: south of Melbourne, held by a local Afghan mosque in
- 1:35Speaker 1: the Afghan Islamic Center. Would went there to promise a
- 1:38Speaker 1: coalition government would give six point five million dollars of
- 1:42Speaker 1: your money to upgrade the religious facilities. Now why government's
- 1:48Speaker 1: fun places of religious worship including Muslims? That that surprises me.
- 1:52Speaker 1: It seems to be funding division. To put it mildly,
- 1:56Speaker 1: but that huge bribe didn't save Wood from being shouted
- 1:59Speaker 1: down by very aggressive men pro Palestinian, some apparently anti Australia.
- 2:05Speaker 1: There was even reportedly a fight. It was extremely ugly. Wood,
- 2:21Speaker 1: who was dressed absurdly in afghangear, was forced to flee.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Was even threatened with violence by one Muslim worshiper. You're
- 2:31Speaker 1: not welcoming here by the Gaudia.
- 2:32Speaker 2: You're not welcome.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Last week, I'll break your face for I'll break your
- 2:37Speaker 1: face Gaudia and one eye in the witness from the
- 2:41Speaker 1: Stand for Palestine activist group said that video doesn't show
- 2:45Speaker 1: just how explosive that confrontation really was. Quick work by
- 2:48Speaker 1: the email apparently saved it from getting far far worse.
- 2:52Speaker 3: It got to the point where the email had to
- 2:54Speaker 3: start the prayer because something was going to happen if
- 2:56Speaker 3: you didn't. As he was as he was, as he
- 2:59Speaker 3: was going to start the prayer, the Liberal Party guys
- 3:02Speaker 3: that were sort of leaving, and I was at the
- 3:04Speaker 3: FRONTI I could see it all happened. That it was
- 3:06Speaker 3: some photos and people were helding comments at them like
- 3:08Speaker 3: really bad stuff, right, obviously understandably bad stuff to them.
- 3:13Speaker 3: And on the way the prep happened and it could
- 3:16Speaker 3: hear a lot of commotion in the background, screaming, shouting,
- 3:19Speaker 3: and I think maybe even a fight broke out somewhere.
- 3:21Speaker 3: They had to get out and they had to get
- 3:23Speaker 3: out quick.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Now you got to think that this aggression, this threat
- 3:28Speaker 1: of violence there, the menace was from supposedly god fearing
- 3:31Speaker 1: men in a place of worship and they act like that.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Would you expect that behavior in a church or a
- 3:37Speaker 1: synagogue or the Hindu temple of Sikuan. But some Muslim
- 3:42Speaker 1: groups are cheering Ossi Turks, for instance, gloaded that the
- 3:46Speaker 1: Muslim community in Melbourne have called out the Afghan Islamic
- 3:48Speaker 1: Center and the mosque for inviting Wood because it claimed
- 3:51Speaker 1: would actually a former policeman had worked extensively the Australian
- 3:55Speaker 1: Defense Force, and many from the Afghan community have called
- 3:58Speaker 1: them out for working for an army kus are taking
- 4:00Speaker 1: part in destroying society in Afghanistan and that just makes
- 4:05Speaker 1: of course, this abuse of Wood even more frightening. Apparently,
- 4:08Speaker 1: if you're a soldier who served your country, in this
- 4:13Speaker 1: case by liberating Afghanistan from Taliban terrorists, you get treated
- 4:16Speaker 1: as an enemy of all Muslims in Australia. Really, this
- 4:21Speaker 1: reminds me, of course, it was shocking statistic. More Australian
- 4:25Speaker 1: Muslims fought from the Islamic State terrorists and served at
- 4:29Speaker 1: the time in Australia's own army. You consider what that
- 4:33Speaker 1: means now, some people tribalists will say, ah, well, that's
- 4:38Speaker 1: just what a liberal should expect. Serves them right for
- 4:41Speaker 1: not being more pro Muslim, for being too pro Israel.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Except for this Tony Burke, here's the Home Affairs Minister
- 4:50Speaker 1: in this Albanesi labor government, has been almost more Propelsan
- 4:55Speaker 1: than any other labor politician, and one or perhaps Burker's
- 5:00Speaker 1: holds one of Australia's most Muslim electorates. Watson and Sydney
- 5:04Speaker 1: a quarter of his voters a Muslim a quarter. But
- 5:08Speaker 1: even Burke is attacked now for not being pro Muslim enough.
- 5:11Speaker 1: You've got protests as his electorate claiming he supports genocide
- 5:15Speaker 1: a Palestinians. Muslim groups are backing a Muslim doctor to
- 5:18Speaker 1: run against him at this election. A man who after
- 5:21Speaker 1: hamas Terras slaughter twelve hundred Jews and two one hundred
- 5:23Speaker 1: and fifty one hostages posted this image of a terrorist
- 5:26Speaker 1: and a motorized hang glider. That's how Hermas attacked Jews
- 5:29Speaker 1: at a music festival, saying dreams my friends come true
- 5:34Speaker 1: for those who seek and work to see them come true.
- 5:38Speaker 1: And Burke, like Jason Wood, was also chased out of
- 5:40Speaker 1: a mosque. We just don't have footage of it. That's all.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Burke was going to a Muslim prayer event. It wasn
- 5:46Speaker 1: Sydney two weeks ago, where fliers were sent around calling
- 5:49Speaker 1: the racist to pro Israel. Messages were posted on Muslim
- 5:53Speaker 1: sites saying it would be a great service if brothers
- 5:56Speaker 1: can come to Perry Park today and hold them to
- 5:58Speaker 1: account and show them that they meaning Also Burke are
- 6:02Speaker 1: not welcome and a bunch of young men did show
- 6:05Speaker 1: up in the media reported almost like a throwaway, that
- 6:08Speaker 1: Burke was forced to leave that Muslim prayer event due
- 6:11Speaker 1: to security concerns. I mean security concerns. Which politician again
- 6:18Speaker 1: is forced to flee a prayer event at a church,
- 6:20Speaker 1: or at a synagogue or a Hindu or seek temple
- 6:24Speaker 1: for security concerns? Why must they flee a mosque? Two
- 6:29Speaker 1: feder Olympis Labor and Liberal in just two weeks, with
- 6:34Speaker 1: that same Stand for Palestine group claiming yet another Labour minister,
- 6:38Speaker 1: Jason Clair, had also been stopped from visiting a mole scanning.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Just like cockroaches, when you shine the light on them,
- 6:44Speaker 1: they run away. The Prome minister was asked about this
- 6:47Speaker 1: today and gave you a typical non answer.
- 6:51Speaker 4: Social coalesion is really important. You know, elections come and go.
- 6:57Speaker 4: You know what stays our commitment to Maltic culturalism?
- 7:02Speaker 1: Mind you, Nor will the Liberals comment on what happens
- 7:05Speaker 1: to their Jason Wood, nor will Wood himself. So I
- 7:08Speaker 1: think we've got to this with our immigration policy once again.
- 7:14Speaker 1: We've gone from too few to worry about to too
- 7:17Speaker 1: many to offend, to a point where politicians dare not
- 7:22Speaker 1: speak about this ugly change to our political culture and
- 7:25Speaker 1: instead pass even more laws against free speech, making more
- 7:28Speaker 1: dangerous for you to object. Let's just quickly go to
- 7:37Speaker 1: the economic news from this afternoon. This election could have
- 7:40Speaker 1: been sealed and delivered for Labor if the Reserve Bank
- 7:43Speaker 1: had decided it's meeting today to cut interest rates for
- 7:45Speaker 1: a second time in a month and said it said no,
- 7:48Speaker 1: the official rate will stay at four point one percent,
- 7:51Speaker 1: meaning that last month's tiny cut is the only relief
- 7:53Speaker 1: you'll get before the election, after twelve rate rises in
- 7:56Speaker 1: a row under the Albaneza government. In fact, the Reserve
- 8:00Speaker 1: Bank governor warned that the bank was worried it could
- 8:02Speaker 1: be getting harder to actually cut inflation much further.
- 8:06Speaker 5: The board has discussed the possibility that there's more strength
- 8:09Speaker 5: in the economy which could make it harder to get
- 8:11Speaker 5: inflation back down.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Joining me is Leith and nonsenan co founder of Macrobusiness
- 8:17Speaker 1: excellent blog site and a former Federal Treasury official. Leath,
- 8:21Speaker 1: great to have you on the show again. What does
- 8:23Speaker 1: this decision tell you about our economy?
- 8:27Speaker 6: It doesn't tell us that much, Andrew. It's actually a
- 8:30Speaker 6: bit of a nothing burg in this decision. It was
- 8:31Speaker 6: universally predicted by the market. So in a poll of
- 8:35Speaker 6: economists by Bloomberg, twenty nine out of thirty tip that
- 8:39Speaker 6: rates would remain on hold, So it's very widely expected.
- 8:43Speaker 6: The Reserve Bank statement didn't contain a lot of new
- 8:45Speaker 6: information on the domestic economy, noted that underlying inflations sort
- 8:49Speaker 6: of falling as they expect and that wage grows a
- 8:52Speaker 6: little softer. However, it did express some concerns about the
- 8:56Speaker 6: global economic outlook because of the trade war. So the
- 9:02Speaker 6: Reserve Bank's concerned that the Trump administration could trigger a
- 9:05Speaker 6: global trade war and they could reduce confidence and activity
- 9:08Speaker 6: in the global economy. And that's basically certainly in the
- 9:11Speaker 6: RBA is going to watch going forward when it makes
- 9:13Speaker 6: future decisions.
- 9:16Speaker 1: It's weird, wasn't it. I Mean, the last statement to
- 9:19Speaker 1: put out when it cut interest rates said there were
- 9:21Speaker 1: you know, there were pressures on both sides and interest
- 9:24Speaker 1: rates whether they go up or down, pushing them up
- 9:27Speaker 1: or down. This time it went on down, sorry, pushing
- 9:30Speaker 1: them back up again. But then when she was asked
- 9:32Speaker 1: about this, Reserve Bank Governor Michel Bullock tried to play
- 9:36Speaker 1: that down, like, oh, I don't know. Still, it's nothing's changed.
- 9:41Speaker 1: It was almost like, you know, she felt she didn't
- 9:42Speaker 1: want to get big part of the election. Who ha,
- 9:45Speaker 1: I don't know, what did you make of all that?
- 9:47Speaker 6: Yeah, well, I mean, certainly she's playing a very very
- 9:49Speaker 6: straight bat. And you know, she did actually say that
- 9:53Speaker 6: that the board was not explicitly considering a cut at
- 9:57Speaker 6: this meeting, and the Reserve Bank did also say that
- 9:59Speaker 6: they consider monetary policy to be restrictive, and that would
- 10:04Speaker 6: suggest to you that the next moving rates is down.
- 10:07Speaker 6: But you know, she's certainly hedging at Betts, saying that
- 10:10Speaker 6: she's going to watch the evolution of the economic data
- 10:13Speaker 6: before making a decision, as well as how this sort
- 10:15Speaker 6: of global economy issue with the Trump.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Tariffs plays out.
- 10:20Speaker 6: So the next piece of data that we really need
- 10:23Speaker 6: to look at will be the Q one inflation data
- 10:26Speaker 6: that comes out at the end of the month, and
- 10:27Speaker 6: if that comes in, you know, sort of as they
- 10:29Speaker 6: expect her a little bit weaker, which most economists think
- 10:32Speaker 6: will be a little bit weaker, then we can probably
- 10:35Speaker 6: expect a rate cut at the next meeting in mid
- 10:37Speaker 6: mid May, and of course that'll be after the federal election.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Yeah, good news. Of rate cut bad news because the
- 10:44Speaker 1: economy is weaker. On Thursday, our time, US President Donald
- 10:49Speaker 1: Trump will announce his latest round of tariff increases on
- 10:53Speaker 1: imports to the US. He calls it Liberation Day. Now
- 10:57Speaker 1: head of that, Trump's trade representative is a war for
- 11:00Speaker 1: us because they've released the report claiming that Australia bans
- 11:04Speaker 1: imports of uncle to American beef, pork and poultry, as
- 11:07Speaker 1: well as apples and pears, and we have restrictive policies
- 11:10Speaker 1: of patents and drug marketing. Anthony ALBERNISI says, well, too bad.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Here is those issues are not up for negotiation from
- 11:20Speaker 4: the Australian government. We would defend Australia's interests. The idea
- 11:25Speaker 4: that we would weaken buy security laws is really that,
- 11:29Speaker 4: as my mum would say, cutting off your nose to
- 11:31Speaker 4: spite your face.
- 11:32Speaker 7: I agree with the Prime Minister's position. I won't compromise
- 11:36Speaker 7: on any of that for our country.
- 11:38Speaker 1: So how seriously could Trump now hurt us but retaliating
- 11:42Speaker 1: against any restrictions he deems to be unfair on our
- 11:47Speaker 1: export imports of American goods.
- 11:49Speaker 6: Yeah, Look, in terms of direct harm, I don't think
- 11:51Speaker 6: there's too much for Australia, worry about that. The US
- 11:54Speaker 6: is actually a pretty small export market for Australia. So
- 11:56Speaker 6: just to put in a perspective, Australia exports near six
- 12:00Speaker 6: times as much in value of goods to China that
- 12:04Speaker 6: then we do to the US. And also the US
- 12:06Speaker 6: shouldn't be really too concerned about Australia because theres a
- 12:09Speaker 6: massive trade surples with Australia, so the US exports more
- 12:12Speaker 6: than double as many goods and services to Australia as
- 12:15Speaker 6: it imports from Australia. The bigger risk andrew are other
- 12:18Speaker 6: indirect risks. So if this trade war creates a slow
- 12:23Speaker 6: down in the global economy, reduces confidence and reduces economic activity,
- 12:27Speaker 6: that that'll obviously have spillovers to Australia. But the biggest problem,
- 12:30Speaker 6: the biggest issue potentially for Australia is if the US
- 12:33Speaker 6: slaps big tariffs on China and China sells less stuff
- 12:36Speaker 6: into the US, that would then mean that China would
- 12:39Speaker 6: probably buy less iron, ore, coal, energy, those sorts of
- 12:44Speaker 6: things from Australia, and then that's where the rubber would
- 12:46Speaker 6: really hit the road for Australia. So I think it's
- 12:48Speaker 6: the second round indirect impacts of the things that we've
- 12:51Speaker 6: got to worry about.
- 12:53Speaker 1: The Hlonsolin, thanks so much for your time. The Prime
- 12:58Speaker 1: Minister today was dog by his false claim yesterday about
- 13:04Speaker 1: the Chinese spanship that's been sailing off our southern coast
- 13:07Speaker 1: where we have submarine data cable. So false claim that
- 13:10Speaker 1: our navy don't worry. Our navy was all over this.
- 13:15Speaker 4: The Australian Defense Force are monitoring what is happening. I
- 13:19Speaker 4: have every confidence, every confidence in our Defense Force and
- 13:22Speaker 4: our security agencies to do just that.
- 13:26Speaker 1: In fact, if the Chinese ship was being tracked, it
- 13:29Speaker 1: was by our Border Force. We were later told. You
- 13:33Speaker 1: might say small detail, but again makes you wonder whether
- 13:36Speaker 1: Albinizi is on top of security issues because you just
- 13:39Speaker 1: have to remember last month he false and the claimed
- 13:42Speaker 1: that China had sent advanced warnings of live fire exercises
- 13:45Speaker 1: it was doing off the New South Wales coast when
- 13:48Speaker 1: it actually sent none at all. It took instead of
- 13:51Speaker 1: Virgin Pilot to raise the warning.
- 13:55Speaker 7: The first charge of any Prime minister is to protect
- 13:57Speaker 7: and defend our country, and Anthony open is at six
- 14:01Speaker 7: and sevens on what to do. One part of the
- 14:03Speaker 7: government is saying that the Australian Border Force is monitoring
- 14:05Speaker 7: what's happening. The other part of the government saying that's
- 14:08Speaker 7: the Australian Defense Force that's monitoring what's happening. The Prime
- 14:12Speaker 7: Minister himself doesn't know what's happening. It is unbelievable that
- 14:16Speaker 7: the Prime Minister can't explain to the Australian.
- 14:18Speaker 1: People what is happening here.
- 14:20Speaker 7: Of course there's a collection of intelligence and of course
- 14:23Speaker 7: there is a mapping of undersea cable. Australia is an
- 14:25Speaker 7: island nation and we require on We require the connectivity
- 14:29Speaker 7: to the rest of the world, our Internet. The way
- 14:32Speaker 7: in which we communicate with our partners, with our allies
- 14:36Speaker 7: and with the rest of the world is contingent on
- 14:38Speaker 7: those cables.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Joining me is Simon Banks of the lobby in firm
- 14:42Speaker 1: Hawker Britain. He's worked in seeing positions for three federal
- 14:46Speaker 1: labor leaders and Jason Vlinski, the former Federal Liberal MP.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Jason is this serious or just a manor bit of
- 14:54Speaker 1: sloppiness who cares border force defense for same thing?
- 15:01Speaker 8: Well, Andrew, this campaign is turning into a gaffathon for
- 15:04Speaker 8: the Prime minister.
- 15:06Speaker 1: He's you know.
- 15:07Speaker 8: Yesterday he tried to tell us that he wouldn't be
- 15:09Speaker 8: doing a deal with the Greens, but ended up ruling
- 15:12Speaker 8: out that he wouldn't be doing a deal.
- 15:13Speaker 1: With the Greens.
- 15:14Speaker 8: Then we today he confused the ADF with the ABF.
- 15:18Speaker 8: He confused South China Sea with a great Australian bite.
- 15:21Speaker 8: He confused Australian Freedom of navigation exercises with a foreign
- 15:26Speaker 8: warship trying to map our sea cables and our communication cables.
- 15:31Speaker 8: This is not good enough from a Prime minister of
- 15:35Speaker 8: a serious government, and it's something that I think all
- 15:37Speaker 8: Australians should be seriously worried about.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Simon, you'll call well, I think it's pretty extraordinary, isn't it.
- 15:46Speaker 5: I mean, in twenty twenty we had a similar Chinese
- 15:49Speaker 5: vessel off the Western Australian coast mapping submarine cables there.
- 15:53Speaker 5: I don't remember the flapping of gums that we've seen
- 15:56Speaker 5: from the Coalition today about that. And of course we
- 15:58Speaker 5: all know now why Peter Dutton wants to move to carability,
- 16:01Speaker 5: because just like in twenty nineteen, he wants to see
- 16:04Speaker 5: a Chinese fotell. He wants to see it firsthand when
- 16:06Speaker 5: they turn up unexpected in Sydney Harbor.
- 16:09Speaker 1: I mean this is a joke, right.
- 16:11Speaker 5: The truth is the thing that keeps Australia safe is
- 16:14Speaker 5: our ability to protect ourselves towards our northern border. And
- 16:17Speaker 5: one of the biggest change we've seen over the last
- 16:19Speaker 5: three years is the development of a new missile capacity,
- 16:22Speaker 5: which this government has funded, which Peter Dutton didn't fund
- 16:25Speaker 5: when he was Defense Minister. And not only are we
- 16:28Speaker 5: putting missiles on the ground to create capability and defense
- 16:31Speaker 5: for Australia to our north, we're actually going to be
- 16:34Speaker 5: building missiles in Australia so that we've got a sovereign
- 16:37Speaker 5: defense capability. These are the types of things that actually
- 16:40Speaker 5: matter to Australia's defense. And if Jason wants to complain
- 16:43Speaker 5: about activities that took place by the Chinese when they
- 16:47Speaker 5: were last in government and call them gaffes, well I
- 16:49Speaker 5: got to tell you these guys just clearly don't know
- 16:51Speaker 5: what they're talking about.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I think that's you make a point, but you're missing
- 16:58Speaker 1: I think some important context. And there's China's the change
- 17:02Speaker 1: in China over the last few years. In particular, I
- 17:06Speaker 1: find it amazing that defense has got almost no mention
- 17:08Speaker 1: in this election, given that China, Jason's just has been
- 17:12Speaker 1: threatening US and just sent an aircraft carrier and eighteen
- 17:16Speaker 1: other warships for a joint Army, Navy and Rocket force
- 17:20Speaker 1: exercise off Taiwan to intimidate it, to punish it for
- 17:25Speaker 1: talking up independence. China's army at the same time, in connection,
- 17:29Speaker 1: released an astonishing video You've got to see it, calling
- 17:33Speaker 1: Taiwan's president a parasite. Here it is a few moments
- 17:45Speaker 1: laid out and it's astonishing that video was actually created
- 17:59Speaker 1: by the Chinese governments spread by the Chinese Department of
- 18:02Speaker 1: Foreign Affairs. It's not normal behavior at all, Jason. With
- 18:06Speaker 1: this going on in our region, how can we be
- 18:09Speaker 1: having an election with defenses in a central issue? Andrew,
- 18:13Speaker 1: I totally agree with you.
- 18:14Speaker 8: I mean, the fact of the matter remains that the
- 18:17Speaker 8: Chinese government says the quiet part out loud. Shijingping is
- 18:22Speaker 8: on the record as having said many times that he
- 18:25Speaker 8: wants reunification, including by force, of Taiwan by twenty thirty.
- 18:30Speaker 8: And Taiwan is critical not just to Australia but to
- 18:33Speaker 8: the West generally because it has the most sophisticated chip
- 18:37Speaker 8: manufacturer in the world and If that comes under the
- 18:41Speaker 8: control of the Chinese government, everything from electric vehicles through
- 18:45Speaker 8: to iPhones will not be possible to make. We also
- 18:49Speaker 8: have many of the strategic military colleges in China have
- 18:53Speaker 8: said that one of their war plans includes isolating Australia
- 18:58Speaker 8: from its support necessarily invading Australia, but making sure that
- 19:03Speaker 8: Australia is unable to reach its support and its allies
- 19:07Speaker 8: in order to support us. And look, you know, I
- 19:09Speaker 8: don't want to go around announcing Labor Party defense policy,
- 19:13Speaker 8: but I think it amounts to them giving free sets
- 19:16Speaker 8: of binoculars to Virgin airline pilots and corners our line
- 19:20Speaker 8: pilots so they can check what foreign warships are in
- 19:23Speaker 8: our territorial waters. I mean, simon, if they want to
- 19:25Speaker 8: be serious about defense, now's the time to be serious
- 19:28Speaker 8: about it and not make a false equivalency between what
- 19:32Speaker 8: Australian warships are doing in Southeast Asia to ensure freedom
- 19:35Speaker 8: of navigation versus what a foreign war vessel is doing
- 19:38Speaker 8: in our territorial waters mapping data cables in.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Order to isolate us from the rest of the world. Yeah,
- 19:47Speaker 1: I agree about.
- 19:48Speaker 5: In twenty twenty, off the West Australian coast.
- 19:50Speaker 1: I mean the difference is simon. Sorry.
- 19:56Speaker 5: First of all, the Virgin Pilot did detect those Chinese
- 20:00Speaker 5: Li Fi missiles first. They are actually under the surveillance
- 20:03Speaker 5: of the New Zealand Navy at the time through a
- 20:05Speaker 5: cooperative agreement that's been existing over many, many years. The
- 20:09Speaker 5: delay in communicating that was at the New Zealand government
- 20:11Speaker 5: and Peter Dutton of course is running around with the
- 20:13Speaker 5: sam same campaign slogan as the New Zealand Conservatives took
- 20:18Speaker 5: to their last election campaign. If you want to talk
- 20:20Speaker 5: about defense commitments in this most recent budget and lead
- 20:24Speaker 5: up period, Labour's buying more missile something that can be
- 20:27Speaker 5: deployed quickly and soon if needed to defend Australia from
- 20:31Speaker 5: the Chinese. What we've had from the coalitions is they're
- 20:33Speaker 5: going to buy an extra squadron of Joint Stride fighters.
- 20:35Speaker 5: Now I've got nothing against the Joint Stride fighter, but
- 20:38Speaker 5: they're not buying any fuel for it, they're not buying
- 20:41Speaker 5: any weapons for it, they're not buying not training any
- 20:43Speaker 5: extra CRUs for it. We're spending three billion dollars under
- 20:46Speaker 5: the coalition for some planes that are going to sit
- 20:48Speaker 5: on the tarmac compared to Labour actually buying missiles that
- 20:52Speaker 5: will be capable of being deployed within the next twelve
- 20:55Speaker 5: to twenty four months.
- 20:57Speaker 1: So that's all very well, but I find it frankly
- 21:00Speaker 1: impossible to believe that the by fighter is without missiles,
- 21:03Speaker 1: without weapons or fuel. I think that must be a
- 21:06Speaker 1: little rhetorical florid.
- 21:07Speaker 5: Well, that's what I'm sorry, Andrew, but that's what the
- 21:10Speaker 5: fence expert said the moment when Andrew Hasty came out
- 21:12Speaker 5: with that announcement. They're provisioned three bare wells, which is
- 21:15Speaker 5: merely the cost.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Let's have a sad bet. Let's take a bet it
- 21:19Speaker 1: will be for any of the add on areas. I
- 21:22Speaker 1: will bet you, I will bet your bippy that those
- 21:26Speaker 1: planes will be in the air, and it will be
- 21:27Speaker 1: because they've got fuel in their tanks. All this, though,
- 21:31Speaker 1: has given Peter Dutton a little opportunity to try and
- 21:33Speaker 1: turn around a problem, a real problem for him. I
- 21:36Speaker 1: think that I don't think he's addressed properly, and I
- 21:39Speaker 1: think it is behind a lot of his recent falls
- 21:42Speaker 1: in the polls. It's a Trump fact that Donald Trump
- 21:45Speaker 1: attacking Britain Canada Australia has made all their left wing
- 21:49Speaker 1: leaders more popular, makes them look like they're standing up
- 21:51Speaker 1: for their countries. Doesn't try to turn this around a
- 21:53Speaker 1: bit today by saying Albanezi was weak, but Peter Dutton
- 21:58Speaker 1: wasn't and he could fight Donald trum Here is the.
- 22:02Speaker 7: President of the United States is going to stand up
- 22:03Speaker 7: for America. I'm going to stand up for Australia. I
- 22:05Speaker 7: have the strength of leadership in the experience to be
- 22:07Speaker 7: able to stand up to the President of the United
- 22:10Speaker 7: States or anyone else if they're acting against our country's interest.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Jason, how do you think the Trump factor is working
- 22:15Speaker 1: out in this election campaign, and especially if he now
- 22:19Speaker 1: hurts Australia with more tariffs on Thursday.
- 22:23Speaker 8: Well, Andrew, as your previous guest was pointing out, America's
- 22:27Speaker 8: tariff war against Australia is not going to be of
- 22:30Speaker 8: any great significance. We don't sell that much to them.
- 22:33Speaker 8: We're a net importer of American goods. On top of
- 22:37Speaker 8: all of that, what we do sell to them, Trump
- 22:40Speaker 8: is not talking about including in his tariff regime, so
- 22:43Speaker 8: Australia will probably ironically be a net beneficiary of the
- 22:48Speaker 8: Trump tariff war. That's going on at the moment, But
- 22:51Speaker 8: beyond that, I think the real problem is that Donald
- 22:54Speaker 8: Trump is a chaos agent. He's crowding a lot of
- 22:58Speaker 8: chaos and uncertainty in the global community at the moment,
- 23:02Speaker 8: and when Australians are feeling that there is a tendency
- 23:05Speaker 8: to a flight to safety, which includes the person who
- 23:08Speaker 8: is in government at the moment now, while people are
- 23:10Speaker 8: not focused on twice ahead.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Sorry, yeah, Jason, I think it's going a bit beyond that.
- 23:16Speaker 1: I mean, I saw Jim Charm's treasurers today directly linking
- 23:21Speaker 1: Peter Upton to Donald Trump, say he was getting his
- 23:23Speaker 1: ideas from the same area, and I think this is
- 23:26Speaker 1: the issue that he really needs to pick a fart
- 23:28Speaker 1: with Donald Trump, but he's been painted as a Trump
- 23:31Speaker 1: light and that's going to hurt him. I don't think
- 23:33Speaker 1: it's right, I don't think it's honest, but it's going
- 23:37Speaker 1: to hurt him. Josephiliski, Simon Banks, thank you very much
- 23:40Speaker 1: to you both. Really appreciate your time. By the way,
- 23:44Speaker 1: there's been another success for Sky and for democracy. The
- 23:48Speaker 1: two leaders have agreed to a debate here on Sky News.
- 23:50Speaker 1: It's Tuesday at seven thirty. It's a pitis during my
- 23:53Speaker 1: half of my show. But anyway, it's a people's forum
- 23:56Speaker 1: in Western Sydney and it could be crucial because it's
- 23:59Speaker 1: the only debate the Preme Ministers dared so far to
- 24:02Speaker 1: agree to after the break a shocking attack on democracy
- 24:06Speaker 1: and judges banned France's most popular candidate from the right
- 24:10Speaker 1: of course, from running for president at the next election.
- 24:14Speaker 1: This could be dynamite. The Trump administrations are ready protesting.
- 24:21Speaker 1: It's one big thing that Donald Trump and his Vice
- 24:23Speaker 1: President Jady Vance have got right. Other Western leaders are
- 24:28Speaker 1: trashing freedom, and Donald Trump could actually make Australia pay
- 24:32Speaker 1: for that too. For now, the White House has been amazed,
- 24:35Speaker 1: as we all should be, that a French judge has
- 24:38Speaker 1: just banned Marie Lapin, leader of the right wing National Rally,
- 24:43Speaker 1: from standing for president of France in the twenty twenty
- 24:46Speaker 1: seven election one she was favorite to win.
- 24:50Speaker 9: What this represents for our democracy and for our country
- 24:54Speaker 9: where millions of French people will be denied by a
- 24:57Speaker 9: court judge without any possible recon the candidate who wasn't
- 25:01Speaker 9: heel today the favorite to win the presidential elections miss
- 25:06Speaker 9: Surely that must shock and horrify all those who respect
- 25:10Speaker 9: democracy and the rule of law.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Now lape was found guilty and also census to jail
- 25:15Speaker 1: for embezzlement, taking money as a member of the European
- 25:19Speaker 1: Parliament there was meant to pay for parliamentary aids and
- 25:22Speaker 1: using that money to pay stead for staff doing party
- 25:25Speaker 1: work like a bodyguard for example. Leapen's crime is actually
- 25:31Speaker 1: much like what victorious Labour Party under Dan Andrews was
- 25:34Speaker 1: accused of in the Red Shirts affair. Staff paid for
- 25:38Speaker 1: parliamentary work doing party work. There, the money was repaid
- 25:42Speaker 1: to taxpayers and police didn't even lay charges. Now, okay, fine,
- 25:47Speaker 1: if Lappen is guilty, then find her whatever. But she
- 25:51Speaker 1: denies it. But banning her from standing for election, from
- 25:56Speaker 1: letting the French people decide that is so undemocratic. As
- 26:01Speaker 1: the Trump administration has said.
- 26:04Speaker 10: We have got to do more as the West than
- 26:07Speaker 10: just talk about democratic values. We must live them. Exclusion
- 26:10Speaker 10: of people from the political process is particularly concerning given
- 26:15Speaker 10: the aggressive and corrupt lawfare waged against President Trump here
- 26:19Speaker 10: in the United States.
- 26:23Speaker 1: But Trump's administration is also attacking Britain for portraying free
- 26:27Speaker 1: speech and other freedom It has worn that there could
- 26:30Speaker 1: be no free trade with the US without free speech.
- 26:34Speaker 1: After a British anti abortion campaigner was charged with just
- 26:37Speaker 1: holding this sign here to talk if you want, which
- 26:41Speaker 1: he was apparently too close to an abortion clinic. The
- 26:44Speaker 1: US State Department says we are monitoring a case. It
- 26:47Speaker 1: is important to the US UK respect and protect freedom
- 26:50Speaker 1: of expression. And this is also a warning to Australia
- 26:55Speaker 1: because this week in a Melbourne court X the platform
- 27:00Speaker 1: of Elon Musk, Donald Trump's right hand man and anti
- 27:03Speaker 1: puberty blocker activist Billboard Chris, that was on My show
- 27:07Speaker 1: last week fighting Australia's The's Safety Commissioner for demanding that
- 27:11Speaker 1: they take down a post on X by Billboard Chris
- 27:15Speaker 1: attacking a transgender activist. Now, if they fail in this court,
- 27:20Speaker 1: you can be sure that the Trump team will notice
- 27:23Speaker 1: that too and send us a warning. Joining me is
- 27:27Speaker 1: Sean Spicer, Donald Trump's first White House spokesman, Shawn Spice.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Are great to see you again. Look a French judge
- 27:35Speaker 1: banning France's most popular candidate for president, someone of the
- 27:39Speaker 1: right for standing in the next election. This is exactly
- 27:43Speaker 1: the attack on freedom and democracy that JD. Vance has
- 27:46Speaker 1: been attacking Europe over where's this going to go?
- 27:51Speaker 2: Well, not only that, but when Vice President Vance went
- 27:53Speaker 2: and made those comments, he was mocked for kind of
- 27:59Speaker 2: going that, if you will, also sort of talking down
- 28:03Speaker 2: to the folks in Europe. And that was specifically a
- 28:06Speaker 2: speech conversation at the time. And now look at what's
- 28:09Speaker 2: happening banning candidates from being on the ballot. There's nothing
- 28:13Speaker 2: more undemocratic than that, allowing people to not have a
- 28:17Speaker 2: choice who to have represent them. But this, you know,
- 28:20Speaker 2: it's funny. It's just amazing how many times in the
- 28:24Speaker 2: past the US was just allowing stuff like this to
- 28:27Speaker 2: go unchecked, unnoticed. And as much as sometimes people may
- 28:31Speaker 2: not be used to the rhetoric that President Trump and
- 28:33Speaker 2: Vice President Vance are using, it really is warranted. When
- 28:36Speaker 2: you scratch beneath the surface, you realize that they're speaking
- 28:40Speaker 2: a real solid truth to these issues that just more
- 28:43Speaker 2: than anything people have been afraid to say.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Oh absolutely. And I noticed also a statement put out
- 28:53Speaker 1: by the State Department about Britain attacking attacking the court.
- 28:58Speaker 1: A woman who was standing out side to an abortion
- 29:01Speaker 1: clinic with a sign simply saying, you know, talk to me,
- 29:05Speaker 1: saying this is an issue and could have implications on trade.
- 29:08Speaker 1: I mean, the reason I raised this one, Sean, is
- 29:12Speaker 1: that we have in Australia Billboard Chris the Canadian activists
- 29:16Speaker 1: against the transgender Treatments for Children in court in Melbourne,
- 29:22Speaker 1: along with x Elon Musk's x trying to take the
- 29:26Speaker 1: Ease Safety Commissioner to force her to drop a ban
- 29:30Speaker 1: on a post that he put up about this. I mean,
- 29:33Speaker 1: the White House doesn't look kindly of this kind of stuff,
- 29:36Speaker 1: does it.
- 29:37Speaker 2: No, But it's not just the White House, Andrew, I
- 29:39Speaker 2: don't think any of us should look kindly on this.
- 29:41Speaker 2: One of the things that I remind my conservative friends
- 29:45Speaker 2: is that part of free speech here in America is
- 29:48Speaker 2: allowing that which you detest. So, for example, as someone
- 29:53Speaker 2: who has served in the military for over two decades,
- 29:56Speaker 2: I find flag burning just just grotesque. I also believe
- 30:00Speaker 2: that the Amendment, our first Amendment, gives people the right
- 30:03Speaker 2: to say the most heinous and despicable things, and that
- 30:08Speaker 2: if we truly believe in freedom here in America have
- 30:11Speaker 2: to defend that which we detest. The idea that you're
- 30:14Speaker 2: shutting down the speech in the UK and throughout Europe
- 30:18Speaker 2: just shows that despite the ability to want to protest
- 30:22Speaker 2: jd Vance's comments a couple months ago, the reality is
- 30:25Speaker 2: very starkly different. They do stifle free speech, free thought.
- 30:29Speaker 2: The idea that somebody merely can't have a conversation without
- 30:33Speaker 2: being arrested or attained or fined speaks volumes as to
- 30:36Speaker 2: what's really going on. And I think it's good for America.
- 30:41Speaker 2: For all of the talk about America's retreat, the reality
- 30:44Speaker 2: is America will always and should always stand for and
- 30:47Speaker 2: defend freedom around the world.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Well, I think this is a real issue, and I
- 30:54Speaker 1: agree with you. I mean, I've interviewed Billboard chrits. I
- 30:57Speaker 1: think sippoling what was done to him, but I think
- 31:00Speaker 1: it could have consequences for trade policies. Now. The White
- 31:03Speaker 1: House has issued a long list of grievances against our
- 31:07Speaker 1: trade policies towards America, including bands on uncleok Bee from
- 31:11Speaker 1: your country, for instance, and other imports. Ahead of Wednesday,
- 31:15Speaker 1: your time, when Donald Trump's going to announce a whole
- 31:18Speaker 1: list of extra tariffs is going to impose an inputs
- 31:20Speaker 1: from around the world. It hasn't added air attacks on
- 31:24Speaker 1: free speech yet, but I suspect that might be on
- 31:26Speaker 1: the agenda suit, But what are you expecting on what
- 31:29Speaker 1: it's called. I think it's calling it Freedom Day Liberation Day.
- 31:33Speaker 2: But I talked to some folks over the last over
- 31:36Speaker 2: the last seventy two hours, and one of the best
- 31:39Speaker 2: quotes that I got from somebody was, it's clearly unclear.
- 31:42Speaker 2: What we do know is that Donald Trump has been
- 31:45Speaker 2: talking about the use of teriffs for a long long time,
- 31:47Speaker 2: going back into the nineteen eighties in Japan and how
- 31:51Speaker 2: it treated the United States. The bottom line is this,
- 31:54Speaker 2: I will expect a list of countries major trading partners
- 31:58Speaker 2: where we have a trade terror in balance, meaning if
- 32:01Speaker 2: you charges ten percent for our cars to go into
- 32:04Speaker 2: your country, we're going to charge you ten to come
- 32:07Speaker 2: into ours. The funny thing about this, Andrew, is for
- 32:09Speaker 2: everyone who gets all you know, I'll just be kind
- 32:14Speaker 2: and say all upset and then a tither about this.
- 32:17Speaker 2: The reality is I don't to understand how you can
- 32:20Speaker 2: talk about fairness when one country charges X and prohibits
- 32:24Speaker 2: the other country from getting into its market and expects
- 32:27Speaker 2: unfettered access into the United States. To me, that is
- 32:30Speaker 2: inherently unfair trade. What Donald Trump is asking for is
- 32:33Speaker 2: simply if your tariff is ten on x product or industry,
- 32:37Speaker 2: whether it's agriculture, services, manufacturing, then we're going to charge
- 32:40Speaker 2: you ten. But if you want to take your ten
- 32:42Speaker 2: down to two or to zero, we'll take ours down
- 32:45Speaker 2: to ten or two. That to me makes a ton
- 32:47Speaker 2: of sense. It's literally when he says the word reciprocal,
- 32:51Speaker 2: that's the very.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Nature of it.
- 32:53Speaker 11: Let's have an even playing field.
- 32:55Speaker 2: You get access to our market, we get access to
- 32:57Speaker 2: your market, easy pasy. There's nothing wrong with that. And
- 33:00Speaker 2: as a byproduct of that, by the way, President Trump
- 33:03Speaker 2: has brought in hundreds of billions of dollars of investment
- 33:07Speaker 2: Taiwan's Semiconductor, Honda, Hondai, Apple, Samsung, all bringing manufacturing and
- 33:12Speaker 2: investment back to the United States because they would rather
- 33:15Speaker 2: do business here and have more certainty here. That's what
- 33:18Speaker 2: we need finally in this country. When President Trump says
- 33:20Speaker 2: America first, it means that we're going to start looking
- 33:22Speaker 2: out for our workers, our farmers, our ranchers, our service providers,
- 33:26Speaker 2: our manufacturers.
- 33:30Speaker 1: I'm shocked at a people are shocked that that would
- 33:32Speaker 1: be the case that an American president would put America first.
- 33:36Speaker 1: But there you go, that our leaders put Australia first
- 33:40Speaker 1: always shut spot, so always great to talk to you.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Thank you so much you've had Andrew, thank you.
- 33:48Speaker 1: After the break. More embarrassment for the Tals, this time
- 33:50Speaker 1: over a six joke and Prince Andrew's accused us. It's
- 33:55Speaker 1: just four days from dying from an accident. But there's
- 33:59Speaker 1: a real mystery. More embarrassment for the Teals today. I
- 34:06Speaker 1: wonder what it is with these guys. How did the
- 34:09Speaker 1: teals get this image of being nicer than the usual politicians.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I mean, for one, why do they lie, in my opinion,
- 34:18Speaker 1: lie that they're independent. We're nearly all are funded by multimillionaires.
- 34:21Speaker 1: Simon Holmes a court and it's two climate two hundred group.
- 34:25Speaker 1: And in last week we had a teal in Peter
- 34:27Speaker 1: Monique Ryan embarrassment her husband's called stealing a sign of
- 34:30Speaker 1: a liberal opponent. And Ryan herself then was filmed snapping
- 34:34Speaker 1: a journalists who were just asking if she was sorry.
- 34:37Speaker 1: And now another teal has made a fool of herself,
- 34:39Speaker 1: Nigolette Bully. She's running in Sydney's North Shore seat of Bradfield.
- 34:43Speaker 1: She's now been banned from a local hairdressers after telling
- 34:47Speaker 1: a sexual joke to a nineteen year old apprentice who'd
- 34:49Speaker 1: done her hair, reportedly saying that was amazing and I
- 34:52Speaker 1: didn't even have sex with you. Bullet says my comment
- 34:56Speaker 1: was a poor, attempted humor and I've apologize. Everyone deserves
- 34:58Speaker 1: if you're respected in the workplace, and I'll do better
- 35:01Speaker 1: joining them is my Tuesday panel. Will Kingston hosts Afar
- 35:04Speaker 1: at Will, a weekly podcast from the Spectator on politics
- 35:07Speaker 1: and culture to Nikods Georgio with her own show here
- 35:10Speaker 1: on every Friday at five pm. Will. A small party
- 35:16Speaker 1: which had this much embarrassment in just two weeks from
- 35:19Speaker 1: a couple of its scanders would be in a pr
- 35:21Speaker 1: crisis if they were, you know, one Nation or something
- 35:24Speaker 1: of the right, or the Nationals even But what does
- 35:26Speaker 1: it say about the Teals.
- 35:30Speaker 11: The Starter and Andrew What an absolutely bizarre thing to say.
- 35:34Speaker 11: I'm just taken aback by it. But what it says
- 35:37Speaker 11: is that the whole party has this bizarre mixture of
- 35:40Speaker 11: naivety and entitlement. It's a naivity that comes from living
- 35:44Speaker 11: in bubbles like Sydney's Low North Shore or Melbourne's Eastern suburbs,
- 35:48Speaker 11: and in its entitlement that comes from their luxury beliefs,
- 35:51Speaker 11: which says, no matter how they act, they still have
- 35:54Speaker 11: say the right things in the right circles and therefore
- 35:57Speaker 11: wirally superior to the rest of us. It would be
- 36:00Speaker 11: really interesting to see if this woke branded politics actually
- 36:04Speaker 11: still connects with those targeted electorates at this election. We've
- 36:08Speaker 11: been saying now for some time that we think wok
- 36:10Speaker 11: is in retreat, we think common sense is returning to
- 36:13Speaker 11: Australia and the Western world. Well, I think the little
- 36:16Speaker 11: Teals are a living, breathing embodiment of Wokism. So if
- 36:19Speaker 11: they do perform poorly in this election, it is hopefully
- 36:22Speaker 11: comforting news. But we will see.
- 36:26Speaker 1: What do you make of it.
- 36:27Speaker 12: Danika, I just think they're a big joke. Andrew, though,
- 36:30Speaker 12: I have to pull you up on something you said
- 36:32Speaker 12: there in your intro.
- 36:33Speaker 13: It is a.
- 36:34Speaker 12: Doctor Monique Ryan. Don't forget that, that's what she is,
- 36:37Speaker 12: so sure it's to be cold? How could you forget exactly? Look,
- 36:42Speaker 12: I just think the comment made by that teal is
- 36:46Speaker 12: just very strange and entirely inappropriate. But can you imagine, though, Andrew,
- 36:51Speaker 12: if it was a male politician saying it to a
- 36:54Speaker 12: female staff member. They would have to be sacked, they
- 36:56Speaker 12: would have to stand down. But once again it just
- 36:59Speaker 12: shows thepocrisy of the Tials. You listed off some examples there.
- 37:02Speaker 12: Don't forget the Teals were elected on a platform of integrity.
- 37:07Speaker 12: That was their big shtick at the last election. They
- 37:09Speaker 12: were going to clean up the Parliament. They were going
- 37:11Speaker 12: to change it.
- 37:12Speaker 3: But as we see.
- 37:12Speaker 12: Time and time again from the left is this do
- 37:15Speaker 12: as I say, not as I do kind of attitude.
- 37:19Speaker 12: I don't know what the Tials honestly have achieved in
- 37:21Speaker 12: the last few years. I can't think of one thing.
- 37:24Speaker 12: But I really do hope that what were traditionally blue
- 37:27Speaker 12: ribbon seats. I really hope that voters have seen that
- 37:29Speaker 12: the Tials do not represent their community, and let's hope
- 37:32Speaker 12: that they get booted out at this election.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Well to suddenly bizarre that, you know, I don't want
- 37:38Speaker 1: to call anyone alia or imply that at all, and
- 37:41Speaker 1: mean it might be an innocent explanation for all this
- 37:43Speaker 1: was very odd. Victoria Roberts or Gilfree, who claimed she
- 37:46Speaker 1: was traffic as a teenager and have sex with Prince Andrew,
- 37:50Speaker 1: has now post on an Instagram this is just four
- 37:53Speaker 1: days to live after getting kidney damage when a car
- 37:57Speaker 1: was hit by a school bus doing a hundred and
- 38:00Speaker 1: five kilometers an hour, of all things, and she just
- 38:03Speaker 1: wants to see her kids before she dies. Now, the
- 38:06Speaker 1: thing is this happened in Perth. Apparent if it happened
- 38:10Speaker 1: in Perth where she lives, please say there was actually
- 38:13Speaker 1: no accident with a school bus. That there was one
- 38:17Speaker 1: school bus accident, but it was a minor one with
- 38:19Speaker 1: no reported injuries. Now maybe this was a different incident,
- 38:25Speaker 1: but it's the only one known in Perth remotely like
- 38:28Speaker 1: what Jeffrey describes. Maybe it happened in What do you
- 38:31Speaker 1: make of all this?
- 38:34Speaker 11: I've got no reason not to believe for Andrew, and
- 38:36Speaker 11: if he's the case, it's incredibly sad. And if it
- 38:40Speaker 11: is true, then we will sadly know the outcome in
- 38:42Speaker 11: three or four days. It may very well have been
- 38:44Speaker 11: into state. I think she was from America initially, she
- 38:47Speaker 11: could have been there. There will be conspiracy theories abounding
- 38:51Speaker 11: obviously as a result of this, most of which I
- 38:53Speaker 11: think we can safely discard. I just think it's incredibly sad,
- 38:57Speaker 11: and you know, to a reminder that life is fleeting
- 38:59Speaker 11: and round and hug you loved ones.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Basically well and safely responded Danika.
- 39:09Speaker 11: Look, I don't know.
- 39:11Speaker 1: I have to look.
- 39:11Speaker 12: I hope that she's okay. Obviously she doesn't look well,
- 39:14Speaker 12: and I really do Obviously we're sure are the best,
- 39:16Speaker 12: but I don't know. The journalist in me smells a
- 39:19Speaker 12: bit of a rat with this one, Andrew, because given
- 39:22Speaker 12: the fact that the police have said that there was
- 39:24Speaker 12: a car crash, it was only a minor car crash
- 39:26Speaker 12: and only minor injuries reported. I know she's got a
- 39:29Speaker 12: fair share of problems, as you would. She's had issues
- 39:32Speaker 12: with her kids in recent years. I'm not one hundred
- 39:35Speaker 12: percent sure on this one, and I don't like the
- 39:37Speaker 12: idea either of announcing how many days you've got left
- 39:40Speaker 12: to live on social media. That in itself is very
- 39:42Speaker 12: odd to me. Obviously, I hope she is okay. I
- 39:45Speaker 12: do agree hug your loved ones, but I'm not sure
- 39:48Speaker 12: about this one.
- 39:48Speaker 1: I've got to say, just raises a few questions, said,
- 39:52Speaker 1: conspiracy theories, theories going all around the world. But anyway,
- 39:56Speaker 1: we shall see what we shall see, and as you say,
- 39:58Speaker 1: if it's true, it's tragic. Will the Greens another party
- 40:04Speaker 1: which ministrands seem to think very kind and gentle and
- 40:07Speaker 1: how stupid do you have to be one of their Canadas.
- 40:11Speaker 1: A former Victorian politician, in Wang Trong is the daughter
- 40:14Speaker 1: of Vietnamese parents who fled communist Vietnam. Was given safety
- 40:17Speaker 1: here they were, but she was born here. Now trashes
- 40:21Speaker 1: her home. This democracy, this parliament as and I quote
- 40:25Speaker 1: a racist, white supremacist colonial institution that still is not
- 40:29Speaker 1: grappled with the fact that it's illegitimate until it recognizes
- 40:32Speaker 1: sovereignty for First nations people. Seems a very unappreciative comment
- 40:36Speaker 1: about a country, his institutions bill, a country so safe
- 40:39Speaker 1: that her parents fled here.
- 40:42Speaker 11: Yeah, I'm so bored of this stuff, Andrew so bored
- 40:45Speaker 11: of it. It's just so lazy. It's the same undergraduate
- 40:48Speaker 11: tropes that we continuously hear from the far left. They
- 40:50Speaker 11: never do anything about it, They never actually focus on
- 40:53Speaker 11: solid solutions, They just continue with this nonsense. The other
- 40:56Speaker 11: thing that this points to, and I'm aware that I'm
- 40:58Speaker 11: not sure about the attitudes of her parents, but it
- 41:01Speaker 11: does speak to a broader conversation that needs to be
- 41:04Speaker 11: had in countries like Australia in the UK, which is
- 41:06Speaker 11: why do we continue to let people into our countries
- 41:10Speaker 11: that hate us? This is a theme that runs through
- 41:12Speaker 11: our immigration systems today. There are so many people in
- 41:15Speaker 11: these countries that are arriving who don't share our values
- 41:18Speaker 11: and who don't seem to have a respector of FINDI
- 41:20Speaker 11: for our history and our culture. Again with the caveat that,
- 41:23Speaker 11: I'm not sure about the archides of her parents, but
- 41:26Speaker 11: it is unfortunately something that we need to grapple with
- 41:29Speaker 11: in Australia and further afield.
- 41:32Speaker 1: I must say I haven't come across many Vietnamese immigrants
- 41:35Speaker 1: have been ungrateful to Australia at all. I might talk
- 41:38Speaker 1: about other communities before that, but I would have thought
- 41:41Speaker 1: Denika she'd have some appreciation of what this country meant
- 41:45Speaker 1: to her parents and speak a little bit more respectfully
- 41:49Speaker 1: of it.
- 41:50Speaker 12: Absolutely, I mean, given that she and her parents have
- 41:52Speaker 12: fled oppression, they've come here, been welcomed here with open arms.
- 41:58Speaker 12: It's really disappointing. And if she truly believes all that,
- 42:01Speaker 12: not only do we have to ask why is she here,
- 42:03Speaker 12: but also the question has to be asked, well why
- 42:06Speaker 12: are you running?
- 42:06Speaker 1: Then?
- 42:06Speaker 12: If you believe that Parliament is this big racist entity. Look,
- 42:11Speaker 12: it just represents a bigger problem that there have been
- 42:13Speaker 12: some people who have been welcomed into this country with
- 42:16Speaker 12: open arms, who hate our values and treat our democracy
- 42:20Speaker 12: with such contempt. We have obviously seen a record number
- 42:23Speaker 12: of migrants. This needs to be a broader discussion. It
- 42:26Speaker 12: was not front and center at the last election. It
- 42:28Speaker 12: should be front and center at this election. But as
- 42:30Speaker 12: for the greenso, I honestly just think it's some sort
- 42:32Speaker 12: of prerequisite Andrew, that you run on I guess an
- 42:36Speaker 12: anti Australia platform and you're suddenly a candidate.
- 42:40Speaker 1: There you go, Danika, Georgia Wilkinson, Thank you to you both.
- 42:44Speaker 1: After the break energy Mister Chris Bone shots an ad
- 42:47Speaker 1: that actually promotes Peter Dutton. Do you think he knows
- 42:50Speaker 1: what he's doing? For five days, the five days of
- 42:57Speaker 1: this campaign, the premise has been going around the talking
- 43:00Speaker 1: about his dear mum who was an invalid pensioner, and
- 43:03Speaker 1: flashing his Medicare card and claiming the Coalition would rip
- 43:06Speaker 1: it up.
- 43:07Speaker 4: They hated the idea that this little card here would
- 43:12Speaker 4: be able to give the same healthcare to a billionaire
- 43:16Speaker 4: that it gives to an invalide pensioner.
- 43:19Speaker 1: Now, I find that claim actually very strange, not least
- 43:22Speaker 1: because Medicare about billion rates have actually fallen under Albin Easy,
- 43:26Speaker 1: who also slashed in half the number of Medicare sessions
- 43:29Speaker 1: the poor could get with a psychologist. Billionaires do get
- 43:33Speaker 1: better care, joining me as much Tuesday regular Matt Canavan
- 43:37Speaker 1: and Mat I've got to say, I'm amazed that you
- 43:39Speaker 1: have the height to show your face on the show
- 43:41Speaker 1: when your coalition are i'm told, is going to destroy Medicare.
- 43:45Speaker 1: Really stick it up those invalid pensioners. Apparently you hate
- 43:49Speaker 1: seeing invalid pensioners get the same care as a Malcolm Turnbull.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Tell me about your secret plans to destroy Medicare.
- 43:57Speaker 13: Well, I think Andrew, the Prime Minister is under the
- 44:00Speaker 13: delusion that people trust what he says, or even what
- 44:04Speaker 13: most politicians say. I think what people are interested in
- 44:08Speaker 13: is what politicians do, not what they say. And the
- 44:11Speaker 13: Prime Minister since he's been in office, has made Medicare worse,
- 44:17Speaker 13: not better. That's what the fact show when he came
- 44:19Speaker 13: to office. The bog billing rate, that's the rate of
- 44:22Speaker 13: people being able to charge just the Medicare rebate, not
- 44:24Speaker 13: having your pain any on top the bog billing rate.
- 44:27Speaker 13: We're sitting at ninety percent under the coalition government. It's
- 44:30Speaker 13: fallen to lower than eighty percent under his watch, and
- 44:34Speaker 13: now he's on a last ditch, desperate effort to pump
- 44:38Speaker 13: billions more into Medicare to make up for his failings
- 44:40Speaker 13: in government. The question has to be asked is if
- 44:43Speaker 13: he cared about Medicare so much, why didn't the Prime
- 44:46Speaker 13: Minister fix this in the last three years. Why is
- 44:48Speaker 13: he just making these promises in the last of three
- 44:51Speaker 13: weeks as his job is on the line. And the
- 44:53Speaker 13: other point to make here, Andrew is we're only going
- 44:55Speaker 13: to have a strong Medicare system, a strong health system
- 44:59Speaker 13: if we have a strong economy. We don't have a
- 45:01Speaker 13: strong economy, we won't have the revenue to pay for
- 45:05Speaker 13: what we need, particularly as things become more expensive and
- 45:07Speaker 13: people live longer. And his watch, of course, our productivity
- 45:11Speaker 13: has fallen through the roof. Our GDP growth has been stagnant.
- 45:14Speaker 13: We've gone backwards in terms of economic growth by person,
- 45:16Speaker 13: and because partly because he's bringing in so many people
- 45:18Speaker 13: this country, so we have fewer resources to devote to
- 45:21Speaker 13: the protection health of our people. With a stronger economy
- 45:25Speaker 13: under at the obanezy one economy.
- 45:28Speaker 1: I can I assure viewers that we can. I assure
- 45:32Speaker 1: viewers that Matt, the reason you're in such a colorful
- 45:36Speaker 1: area is not because you can't wait to get back
- 45:38Speaker 1: on the beers. But you've been just coming off a
- 45:40Speaker 1: political event at the pub, and for that we are
- 45:43Speaker 1: very grateful. Matt. Amazing news. The ambanies of government center him,
- 45:49Speaker 1: mister Chris barn You and I have been wondering what
- 45:51Speaker 1: rock they've been hiding him under. Been very quiet in
- 45:54Speaker 1: this campaign, almost invisible now it seems, has actually been
- 45:58Speaker 1: secretly making ads to get people to vote for Peter Dunton.
- 46:03Speaker 1: Take this.
- 46:05Speaker 4: He wants to say no to our plan to get
- 46:07Speaker 4: to eighty two percent renewables supported by gas, speaking new
- 46:10Speaker 4: transmission and storage.
- 46:12Speaker 1: Boy, he'd be grateful for that shout out, wouldn't you.
- 46:17Speaker 13: Yeah, well exactly, Andrew, He's hiding under a rock. I
- 46:19Speaker 13: think it's called blue Sky there on the He's deleted
- 46:22Speaker 13: his own ex account, doesn't want people to see or
- 46:24Speaker 13: reply to that he was coppying it online on that
- 46:27Speaker 13: platform because of his failure to control our energy system.
- 46:30Speaker 13: I am here at a political that I'm here at
- 46:32Speaker 13: Michelle Landry's campaign launch here in rock Hampton. She's going
- 46:35Speaker 13: for her fifth term and I was speaking to the
- 46:37Speaker 13: public and here Robin at Coco Brew in Rockhampton. His
- 46:40Speaker 13: power bill has doubled in the last few years. That's
- 46:43Speaker 13: the record of Chris Barwin. So the more Chris Bowen
- 46:45Speaker 13: talks and says is out there, the better for us,
- 46:48Speaker 13: because he's been a complete and utter failure. The Prime
- 46:50Speaker 13: Minister this week has walked away. He's dumped his energy
- 46:53Speaker 13: modeling that he promised at the last election, used to
- 46:56Speaker 13: promise those lower power bills. Well, I don't think the
- 46:59Speaker 13: Prime ministers should be dumping his energy modeling. He should
- 47:02Speaker 13: be dumping Chris bolm because he's been an absolute failure.
- 47:05Speaker 13: And it shows here in that video there that Chris
- 47:07Speaker 13: Bowen is more interested in hitting an arbitrary target of
- 47:11Speaker 13: eighty two percent who cares eighty two percent of renewable
- 47:14Speaker 13: energy than he is of hitting a cost of living
- 47:16Speaker 13: target that he is of hitting a target of lower
- 47:18Speaker 13: power prices. He did set another target. He set a
- 47:21Speaker 13: target of cuming your power bills by ten thre and
- 47:22Speaker 13: seventy five dollars he's filed at that. He's filed as
- 47:25Speaker 13: an energy minister because the Prime Minister won't remove him.
- 47:27Speaker 13: The only way you can do that is to remove
- 47:29Speaker 13: the prime minister at the election.
- 47:32Speaker 1: Yeah. See, this is the thing. I mean. I saw
- 47:34Speaker 1: the Prime Minister tried to blame supermarkets for inflation this week.
- 47:39Speaker 1: I mean, what did Joe you talk about power prices
- 47:41Speaker 1: for that public and going up double That feeds into
- 47:43Speaker 1: the price of beer. It has to do. I mean, that
- 47:46Speaker 1: is what's burning people.
- 47:49Speaker 13: Exactly right, Andrew, and the Promister couldn't even define what
- 47:52Speaker 13: price gouging was. He says he's going to ban it,
- 47:55Speaker 13: but he can't even say what it was. Well, I
- 47:58Speaker 13: think people understand what price gouging is. The price gouging
- 48:01Speaker 13: has happened by the ineptitude of this government. It's a
- 48:03Speaker 13: price gouging that occurs when we have a government that
- 48:06Speaker 13: car controls energy system. Not just the cost of beer,
- 48:08Speaker 13: the cost of milk, the cost of cheese, the cost
- 48:10Speaker 13: of everyday items all goes through the roof. That's what
- 48:14Speaker 13: that's the gouget of Australians of stuff and under. It's
- 48:16Speaker 13: not the supermarkets. They haven't just woken up in the
- 48:18Speaker 13: last few years to this. It's the thing that's changed
- 48:21Speaker 13: in the last few years is the governor of Australia
- 48:23Speaker 13: and their mismanagement of our economy and our energy system.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Matt Kenevan, I'll let you get back to your grateful
- 48:29Speaker 1: public over there. Thank you so much for your time.
- 48:32Speaker 1: That's it for me, coming up now, Sherry markson good note,
