- 0:56That means shots that are smooth, tasteful, and pair
- 0:59perfectly with a lime. Or our favorite, in orange.
- 1:02Because if you're still chasing tequila with a lime, what are
- 1:05you doing? That orange slice brings out the
- 1:08bright citrus notes of Una Vida Blanco, which is smooth,
- 1:12authentic and tasteful. Like myself.
- 1:15Plus, Una Vida is 100% additive free, so you're enjoying tequila
- 1:19in its purest form without the hangover regret.
- 1:22Yeah, because it takes us three to five business days to recover
- 1:25now, and hang side is not my friend.
- 1:30That's why you should stick with una Vida or try cocktails
- 1:32instead of shots. Okay, love a little.
- 1:34One Life Spirits also crafts El Drago High Post vodkas and
- 1:38LeBron whiskey all bold, smooth and made to share.

- 2:13podcast where we bring cool people to share their cool
- 2:17stories with you. I am your producer
- 2:20extraordinaire. That's TV.
- 2:22Sitting across from me today, as always, is the blue haired
- 2:26Fanister McAllister. What up guys?
- 2:29Super excited to be here today. It's freezing in here.
- 2:31We don't have to turn on the fan for once, but I can see my
- 2:35breath coming out and that's probably because of the shot
- 2:37that we just took. Oh, it should have made that not
- 2:41happen, because don't you get hot inside?
- 2:43Yeah, I think that's how that would work, but.
- 2:46Coming in. Oh, hot air.
- 2:47Coming into cold air, Well, yeah, that's how it works,
- 2:52because when you walk outside, that's what happens.
- 2:55Oh, and then you're like steaming.
- 2:58You know what? You know what I mean?
- 2:59Sometimes, like, if you're like coming out, isn't that kind of
- 3:02gross to think about? Yeah.
- 3:03Like, you go, you go outside and you're like, steaming and it's
- 3:06like coming out. Or like, that's how you know
- 3:08you. You've made a lot of
- 3:09questionable choices. But then also in a way, you feel
- 3:17like an anime, you know what I mean?
- 3:19Like that? You kind of feel like an anime,
- 3:21no? At that point, you're powering.
- 3:23Up, you're powering up you have that speed.
- 3:25I'm about to run like that. No, we have this really cool
- 3:31person who you hear in the background actually see in the
- 3:34video too. Well, you know, depending on
- 3:36where you're at, 'cause you know you can find us on YouTube,
- 3:38Spotify, Apple Podcast and Amazon Music.
- 3:42She has a definition of a city girl with a business plan.
- 3:45We have Miss ICTU SA2023 in the building, a beauty queen, a
- 3:50Latino entrepreneur, the owner of City Girls Liquor and
- 3:54somebody who almost had a man break into her car like it was
- 3:58Black Friday at a Best Buy. Yes.
- 4:00Don't you love it? Me versus the homeless
- 4:03population has been 5 O this year, 5 O.
- 4:07Yes, I am losing hard. Dude, wait, what?
- 4:12Wait, you're losing, so you'd be O and five.
- 4:14O and five my apologies guys, that's how fucked up they have
- 4:17you right? Now.
- 4:21Well, I mean, I think I knew that you were losing, so that's
- 4:23why. OK, No.
- 4:25Yeah. So grab your drink.
- 4:26You know, either a Blanco, a repo, a whiskey, or if you're on
- 4:30vacation, apparently a watermelon, 4 Loko or a Mad Dog.
- 4:34Because we're going to get into some business, some beauty, some
- 4:36chaos, some TikTok culture and whatever Michelle decides to
- 4:40over share with. US.
- 4:42'Cause you're an overshare too, aren't?
- 4:43You. Yes.
- 4:44Anything you guys ask? Story time, Let's go.
- 4:48Oh, my God. So let's maybe start.
- 4:50Damn. Well, we'll go back to the 05
- 4:53story in a second. Yeah.
- 4:55But but we'll, let's start first with like a little bit about,
- 4:59you know, setting the stage of you as a Latino entrepreneur.
- 5:02I do remember you from Why Beginnings because I was working
- 5:05there when you were already like, I think you were in high
- 5:09school. Yeah, I started working there
- 5:12really young. Well, I like my freshman.
- 5:14No, my sophomore year in college and I didn't even realize we
- 5:18were that many years of not many.
- 5:19I'm young. You're.
- 5:21Like I'm not that old guy. I'm not that old, hey, year old.
- 5:29I admit it. The shots have been thrown.
- 5:32Yeah, I'm not willing to admit it yet lately it's like you
- 5:36enter your 30s and suddenly you're old.
- 5:39And no, I'm not. If I was in another place other
- 5:42than Wichita, I'd be considered a 20 year old.
- 5:45And according to Spotify, I'm 21 years old in my music taste.
- 5:52Yeah. So anyways, OK, I want to 1st
- 5:55understand. Like what?
- 5:58At what point you got to where like you felt like I can dream
- 6:03big and I can make this happen. I know it didn't happen in Y or
- 6:06maybe it did. What was that point?
- 6:07For you No. Yeah, it really was YE.
- 6:09So my background is, you know, my parents are Hispanic
- 6:12entrepreneurs, but they did immigrate.
- 6:15And so they always instilled in all their kids that, you know,
- 6:17we have to hustle but pursue a higher education at the end of
- 6:20the day, You know, they came in with this American dream, but
- 6:22they also wanted us to have that drive behind us.
- 6:25And so in my first year of high school, I, I was in the Ivy
- 6:28program at east and absolutely loved it, but I was stressed out
- 6:32like crazy. And so eventually I ended up
- 6:34dropping the program. And so at that point I was
- 6:36playing sports. I was involved in like debating
- 6:40forensics, everything in between.
- 6:42And I was like, well, since I already dropped out of like, the
- 6:45IB program, I'm like, what if I can't like, become a plastic
- 6:48surgeon one day, you know, having this midlife crisis,
- 6:50like. 14 years to be a plastic surgeon yes OK OK OK at the age
- 6:53of. 14 I was like I want to be a doctor, I want to be a surgeon
- 6:57and I was like well if I can't even finish the IB program, what
- 7:00if I can't even finish mid school?
- 7:01Like thinking like that crazy. But it's true.
- 7:04Like, as an immigrant like you, you get pressured in a way.
- 7:08Yeah, you know what I mean? And so you are thinking really
- 7:10big. Yeah, you dream big.
- 7:11And that's the awesome thing about having that background
- 7:14behind you. So at that age, I was like, OK,
- 7:16you know what, what's something I'm actually good at?
- 7:18And I was like, I love the art of hustling.
- 7:20And I was like, OK, what classes can I take to encourage that or
- 7:23kind of test the waters before I just fully jump on and say I
- 7:26want to do this? And I was looking at an
- 7:28investing class. I was looking at youth
- 7:29entrepreneurs. And then what else was I looking
- 7:32at that time? I think it was like a business
- 7:34management course at that. So in my first class, it was an
- 7:37investing class. And later that day I had to
- 7:39launch YE. And when I was in that investing
- 7:42class, we had to develop a business plan.
- 7:43And I was like, well, what can I do?
- 7:45And in YE, I was developing a business class or a business
- 7:48plan as well. And I was like, well, what would
- 7:50work? What's something that we're
- 7:52dealing with? What's something I could put
- 7:53into both classes? And at that time, I remember I
- 7:56was missing my bus consistently because I'm a teenage girl.
- 7:58I love to sleep in, but I also love doing my makeup and getting
- 8:01ready in the morning. And so that was a consistent
- 8:04issue that I was dealing with. I was like, what can I do to
- 8:05solve this issue? What's what do we have in the
- 8:08market at this time and what do we not have and what can we
- 8:10implement? And that's when I was thinking,
- 8:12OK, what if we can put a tracker on the school bus?
- 8:14It's almost like a Uber system in a sense that we can see where
- 8:18the bus is along their route and then be able to track them.
- 8:20And that way kids aren't waiting at their bus stops for an
- 8:23excessive amount of time when they could be at home with their
- 8:25families or just period at home avoiding any dangerous
- 8:29situations that could come about.
- 8:30And with that. Homeless people, yes.
- 8:33No kidding, still dealing with that to this day. 10 years.
- 8:36Later. I'm kidding.
- 8:37I'm kidding. Good luck We we love everyone.
- 8:41No, no, no. But yeah.
- 8:42So ultimately I was like, OK, let me put this idea into my YE
- 8:45class and in my investing class, got my feedback from my first
- 8:48investing class because it was a club called Business
- 8:51Professionals of America and got that feedback, enhance the idea,
- 8:55put it through YE. And then I rocked it with that
- 8:59classroom competition. In my first classroom
- 9:01competition, I think I was like second or third or something
- 9:04along that point. But we could always end in like
- 9:08with a wild card actually just re entering in.
- 9:11So I did the wild card and then competed and took I think first
- 9:14in that room and then first in state or something like that.
- 9:17So I was like, OK, at this point I do like entrepreneurship.
- 9:20It's going well, let's go ahead and pursue it.
- 9:22And so from there and that moment on, I just kind of ran
- 9:24with it since college and from that point on.
- 9:27Yeah, cuz I remember that you were also.
- 9:29I mean, you're in the Create campaign, you're still on the
- 9:32Create campaign board of directors, OK.
- 9:35And then WSU, I mean like it's really big for a lot of
- 9:39entrepreneurs of our like just the innovation campus and all
- 9:41that they're doing there. I remember I'd always see you at
- 9:44a lot of the Shocker competitions.
- 9:46I don't know if you ever saw me. Yes, I did.
- 9:48I don't know. I don't remember.
- 9:50But I'm like, I see her a lot. Yeah, yeah.
- 9:52I'm like, oh man. And I remember Jocelyn and I at
- 9:54the time were like, yeah, I feel like she's like up and coming.
- 9:58Yeah, like she's she's up here. She's doing stuff.
- 10:00Shout out to Jocelyn because she was such a good, good mentor and
- 10:03I loved her. That was one of the people I did
- 10:05look up to a lot in college. Yeah, Yeah.
- 10:08Oh, that's so sweet. We love Jocelyn.
- 10:09Yeah. Yeah.
- 10:11So at what point, though, that made you want to go into
- 10:16creating city Girls liquor? Like, what was the gap that you
- 10:18saw? What kind of led you down that?
- 10:21Yeah, yeah, yeah. So let's flashback a little bit
- 10:25of like my early career. So I had finished college a
- 10:28little bit earlier than I thought, and I got my big kid
- 10:31position. I was rocking that.
- 10:33And I remember at one point in that position, I had told my
- 10:36boss I was like, hey, well, I want to network with folks out
- 10:38in Kansas City. If that's where my team's going
- 10:40to be, I should probably know some folks and have a network
- 10:42out there. He's like, OK, how do you want
- 10:44to do this? And I was like, well, I would
- 10:45love to go to a Hispanic chamber event out there.
- 10:47I go out there and I meet with one of my coworkers.
- 10:50I was like, OK, so we're here and he's like, OK, what do you
- 10:54plan to do here in the next couple of years?
- 10:56I was like, I love my corporate career, but I think I want to go
- 10:59to law school. And he's like, OK, how do you
- 11:02how do you want to do this? Like, what's your plan?
- 11:04I was like, well, I'm doing side modeling and it's making good
- 11:07money. I was like, I don't know, might
- 11:09just keep pushing it, save up some money and go from there.
- 11:11He's like from everyone in this room, you need to shake hands
- 11:14with this gentleman. And little did I know that was
- 11:16going to be my talent agent. So I shake hands with him and
- 11:19then I end up sending in My Portfolio.
- 11:21Didn't hear from him for a little bit.
- 11:22And I was like, dude, I wonder if this is like a Barbizon scam.
- 11:25Like you remember those were back in the day.
- 11:26That no. No.
- 11:27OK, So they're like, back in the day there was like this modeling
- 11:30agency that girls would submit their portfolios and it would
- 11:33cost them thousands and thousands of dollars to like
- 11:34enter their agency. I was like, OK, So what if it's
- 11:38one of those scams, You know, me being a Latina first Gen., not
- 11:41knowing anything, I'm like what if this just goes S from there?
- 11:44Shit, so wait, there's a cost for you to submit a portfolio?
- 11:47Well, there's a cost when you sign on to an agency in some of
- 11:50them. OK, OK, OK.
- 11:51So then I was like, I didn't hear anything from my agent.
- 11:53I was like, maybe I should reach back out.
- 11:55Just follow up. Yeah.
- 11:56And I was like, well, I'm going to be back in KC this time.
- 11:59I was like, well, after I'm done with my work stuff, let me see
- 12:01if he wants to grab coffee and chat.
- 12:03And he invites me over to his apartment.
- 12:04And I was like, oh God, what is this?
- 12:06What is? This.
- 12:07Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But that's scary.
- 12:09Yes. How old are you?
- 12:10I was 2223. I would be terrified.
- 12:12I was mortified. Anyone to go with you?
- 12:15No, I was on the phone with my friend.
- 12:16I was like, if anything happens, you're in the back of my pocket.
- 12:18This is the this is the location I'm at.
- 12:20Call for help. It's always, it's always like,
- 12:23yeah, let me send my location with my friends.
- 12:25Like literally all my friends. I mean, Joslyn does have my
- 12:29location, but like, but she's a fucking mom with two kids.
- 12:32What's she going to do? Like when she, by the time that
- 12:35she sees that I die, by the time, yeah, by the time she sees
- 12:38that I died, But like the, the majority of everyone else,
- 12:40they're not in Wichita. And so like when you're
- 12:44travelling and it's like, you know, those reels that are like,
- 12:47it's all right, girl, I got your back from right here.
- 12:50They're like, you know, like 5 hours away.
- 12:55Oh no, girl. Yeah, that was you?
- 12:57Yeah. Me, me as hell.
- 12:58My friends are like, dude, you're always putting yourself
- 13:00into some situation. I'm like, well listen, you never
- 13:02know what the situation is going to come out to.
- 13:04Could be good, could be bad. So let me just risk my life.
- 13:07Yeah, pretty much, yeah. I get it.
- 13:09That was me though. That's me too.
- 13:10I get it. I get it.
- 13:12You just trust. Yes, I did.
- 13:13But sometimes it it kicks you in the butt.
- 13:15Yes it does, it really does. But this 1 ended up good though.
- 13:18Yeah, that's an important thing. Let's keep going.
- 13:20Yes. No, no, no.
- 13:21So I ended up good. I ended up signing on with this
- 13:23agent 'cause that's the reason why he was inviting me over, is
- 13:25to sign the paperwork to be an official model for him.
- 13:27I was like, yes, so from that moment on I started auditioning,
- 13:32doing campaigns, and with the money that was receiving from
- 13:34the campaigns, I was able to put money towards my liquor store.
- 13:38So the turning point of what was me going to law school and
- 13:41opening this liquor store was my mom works as a janitor and she
- 13:45got hit with the basketball one day.
- 13:46Shit, yes. So she got a concussion and so
- 13:49my mom's getting older and I was like, look, I love you to death,
- 13:51but I don't think this is a type of environment you should be
- 13:53working in just because it's dangerous.
- 13:54The older you get, it could get worse.
- 13:56Yeah, for sure. But my mother is insisting on
- 13:59working until the wheels fall off.
- 14:00I'm like a typical. Immigrant.
- 14:02Yes, typical. But I love her to death.
- 14:04And I was like, OK, well, I have to figure out a Plan B for her.
- 14:07I was like, I don't want to see her doing this.
- 14:09So I was like, well, what can I do?
- 14:10And I was like, well, let's open a liquor store.
- 14:12Yeah, it would be fun. And something that's not causing
- 14:14her to move around, walk around too much and so forth.
- 14:16I was like a liquor store would be fine and yeah, that's where
- 14:19we're at now. I love that.
- 14:21So your mom is there? Not yet.
- 14:23We're almost. There, not there.
- 14:24Does she not want to leave? Not yet.
- 14:26And let me guess, well, I mean the four O 1 Ki mean that's the
- 14:30stuff that they're thinking about, you know, because she's
- 14:32been there, I imagine for since she moved, since she got here.
- 14:35No, she's jumped her on in jobs and stuff, but I think she's
- 14:37been at that job for maybe about like 10 years or so.
- 14:40OK, But she's been there for a while.
- 14:41But I was like, let me get to the point where that business
- 14:43that I want to bring her in. OK, OK.
- 14:45So we're still building it up. We're still in year one that's.
- 14:47What I was going to ask because like, was it December?
- 14:50When you opened July of 2024. So we're a little bit over year
- 14:53one. OK, nice.
- 14:55OK, so you said plastic surgeon, when the fuck did lawyer come
- 15:01into play? And then and then, OK, so the
- 15:06modeling has to probably come from when you were saying I love
- 15:09beauty, you like to get ready. OK.
- 15:11That's probably where that's connected.
- 15:14At what point did you abandoned plastic surgeon And then like
- 15:17where'd lawyer come in and why were you gravitating towards
- 15:20that? And go here.
- 15:20OK. So what ultimately LED from like
- 15:23plastic surgeon being cut was because I dropped the IV
- 15:26program? So since I couldn't.
- 15:28Finish that program. I was like, what if I can't even
- 15:29finish Med school? That was like the mind.
- 15:31Mentality back, I see, because it was so intense, OK, I was in
- 15:34debate in high school and I loved it, loved it so much and I
- 15:38really wanted to go into a lot. And then I remember like being
- 15:40like, this is going to be my life though.
- 15:42Like if right now at this point, like I'm constantly looking to
- 15:45cases, I'm reading up a bunch of stuff.
- 15:47I was like, I don't know, maybe I shouldn't do this stuff.
- 15:50That's a mentality. OK, I get what you're saying
- 15:52because that was that was me in high school and I was like, do I
- 15:54want this for the rest of my life?
- 15:56I will never meet anybody. I mean, still years later, that
- 16:00hasn't happened, but. So I don't know if I've even
- 16:03made it. That doesn't matter.
- 16:07Yeah. At first it was a joke.
- 16:09Now I think it's reality, yes. No, yes.
- 16:12OK, so then lawyer, when did that happen?
- 16:15Why'd you want to do that? Yeah, yeah.
- 16:16So when the lawyer really just hit was I was watching a lot of
- 16:20like TVI was watching like how to get Away with murder and
- 16:23stuff like that, different cases.
- 16:24And I was like, Dang, the life of an attorney would be pretty
- 16:26cool. And then you would see the
- 16:28TikTok social media resurfacing, like the immigration attorneys
- 16:31and so forth. And I was like, oh gosh, this
- 16:33looks really cool. And then what ultimately just
- 16:35caught my attention over all was medical malpractice.
- 16:39I thought that would be just a great feel to study and just to
- 16:41do that. And that's related because of
- 16:44the plastic surgery. A little bit, yeah.
- 16:45Yeah, I see that. I see the connection.
- 16:47OK, OK. What was like your biggest
- 16:51learning on the fly moment as you know now like an owner of
- 16:56City Girls Liquor? So one of the biggest moments of
- 16:59me learning on the fly would have to be OK.
- 17:02So when I first became a business owner, I was like, I'm
- 17:06soft, I'm very soft. I just don't like to yell at
- 17:08people. I don't like to be
- 17:08confrontational and just really black and white, but there was
- 17:12that one point when I was owning the store that I realized one of
- 17:15our distributors screwed us over to meet his quota by thousands
- 17:18of dollars. And I was like, you have to say
- 17:22something. And so I was talking to my
- 17:23friend about it and I was like, hey, this happened because he
- 17:26used to work for that distributor.
- 17:28And he's like, OK, so this dude is known to be doing that sneaky
- 17:31shit. So I was like, So what should I
- 17:34do about it? He's like call him out.
- 17:36I was like, I don't know if I could do that.
- 17:37These men are like my dad's age. He's like call them out
- 17:40Michelle, because if they do that to you once, they're going
- 17:42to do it to you again. And my thing is with that liquor
- 17:45store, I audit the shit out of it.
- 17:47Like I will audit an invoice, double check my work and just
- 17:49make sure everything is to its TS and CS.
- 17:52But that's with anything I really do.
- 17:53Yeah, good for you. Thank you.
- 17:56But in this case I was like this is a 75 page invoice that they
- 18:00had sent me and I was like. Oh, so they're even making it
- 18:02hard for you to try to find it? Yes, they're sneaky.
- 18:05Good. They're sneaky good.
- 18:06And I remember this was a Sunday.
- 18:07They had caught it. And I was like, am I tripping?
- 18:09I was like, maybe I'm just tripping.
- 18:10They just messed up. And I went in.
- 18:12And since it was this fresh inventory, I was like, let me go
- 18:15check. Sure enough, 10 cases of this
- 18:17item. I'm like, when the fuck would I
- 18:19need 10 cases of this item specifically?
- 18:20Yeah. So I was like, OK, what do I do?
- 18:23He's like, call him out. I was like, OK, screw.
- 18:24I'm gonna send it in an e-mail. Let's do corporate.
- 18:27Yeah, yeah, yeah. You OK?
- 18:29I wanna know the e-mail. Yes, I was.
- 18:31Like, hey, can we please meet at the store this time?
- 18:34Both you guys? Yeah, I was like, don't care how
- 18:36you guys do it, but do it. Yeah.
- 18:38They they're like, oh, we're busy this.
- 18:40And I was like, I don't care. Show up.
- 18:42Yeah. And I was.
- 18:43Hell yeah, put your foot down. Yes.
- 18:44I was prepping myself and I was like, OK.
- 18:46You were preparing your points. You were like you.
- 18:48You channeled debate you, yes. I was like, I'm about to yell at
- 18:52these grown men and I'm like, am I ready for this?
- 18:55Were you like internally fired up or were you more scared?
- 18:58Both. You know what I mean?
- 19:00Both. I was like, I remember my boss
- 19:03is like, do you want me to go with you?
- 19:04Are you sure you can handle this?
- 19:05I was like, I got this. Yeah.
- 19:07And so I go, and they're waiting for me.
- 19:10And I'm like, OK. They're like, what's the purpose
- 19:12of this meeting? I was like, no, just come and
- 19:13come. And I was like, can you do me a
- 19:14favor? Count me how many cases of this
- 19:15item it is. You made them count.
- 19:18Oh hell yeah. I love this.
- 19:19I love this. Yeah.
- 19:20Keep going. Keep going.
- 19:21Fuck that guy. Literally.
- 19:22And I was like, yes. And so I was like, count how
- 19:25many cases of this item there is.
- 19:26And then they were like quite a few.
- 19:29I was like, you jackasses, you fucked me over.
- 19:31I was like. They wait, they told you quite a
- 19:34few. Yes, they didn't want to fucking
- 19:35count them. They just kind of like looked
- 19:37over and they were like a couple, a couple thousand.
- 19:40Yeah, there's like there's like 4, yes.
- 19:43And I'm like, you jackasses. I was like, you guys screwed me
- 19:46over and they're like, well, and just making up a bunch of random
- 19:49excuses. I was like, I don't know if
- 19:50you're trying to take advantage because I'm a woman, because I'm
- 19:52young or what? We're playing here.
- 19:54If you didn't think I was gonna check, I was like the audacity.
- 19:56I knew you were trying to meet your numbers but the way you
- 19:58just screwed over my budgeting and just to meet your fucking
- 20:01numbers is crazy work. I was like, you're absolutely
- 20:04fired for my fucking account. I was like bringing someone.
- 20:08Else onto this account. But if I catch you on my account
- 20:10again, I will fucking throw a fit.
- 20:11Yeah. I was like I became a Maria.
- 20:13Good, you became a Maria. I straight up became a Maria,
- 20:18not even a Karen, a freaking Maria.
- 20:20And I was like, I had to pull that card.
- 20:22I was like, but listen, it's crazy work how someone will do
- 20:25anything to just, you know, profit from that.
- 20:27But I always feel like when it comes to business, always be
- 20:29transparent. Yeah, at the end of the day, if
- 20:32you feel the need to do that, maybe this isn't your place of
- 20:34business. 100. Percent.
- 20:35At least not with my business. Yeah, well, I mean, like with
- 20:38anyone, like they're telling people who are who, who think
- 20:41it's fine to like cut corners to like to like, you know, fuck
- 20:46with someone too. Like the amount of people that
- 20:49because this is my thing with entrepreneurship, like I love
- 20:52entrepreneurship too. I love the hustle.
- 20:53I love the grind, which I've I've had to unlearn a lot of
- 20:57other things about it. But my thing with it is that
- 21:01like in it, there's in the world of it, there are people who just
- 21:05are money hungry and just greedy and just only care about that.
- 21:11And then there's and then you get into like the way that I was
- 21:13introduced to entrepreneurship and why I liked it.
- 21:15And I think this is similar for you, maybe it sounds like is
- 21:18that they talk about it or the way that it was introduced to me
- 21:21was like value creation. Like you're creating value for a
- 21:25profit. And I was like, OK, I can get
- 21:28behind that. Because now it doesn't feel
- 21:29greedy. It doesn't feel sneaky.
- 21:30It doesn't feel like this. It's like I'm trying to create
- 21:33value here. Like I'm not trying to fuck
- 21:35around and fuck anybody over. Like I just, I really love
- 21:39problem solving. Like I love being able to get in
- 21:41the nitty gritty of something and be able to turn it around.
- 21:44But then there are people that are like, and those are the
- 21:47people that turn you off. Yeah, like with anything, you're
- 21:49just like, fuck, like, but isn't it?
- 21:51Or I don't know about you. Like I felt this way.
- 21:53Like sometimes you meet people who are like that and then come
- 21:57look in like that same week you meet somebody who is not like
- 22:01that and then like your your faith in humanity is received.
- 22:04You know what I mean? Yeah.
- 22:05Yeah. Like, you have that one good
- 22:07seed. You're like, OK, not everyone's
- 22:08that bad. Yeah, yeah, cuz like you're,
- 22:10you're pissed. Yeah.
- 22:11You're like heated and you're like damn, like is everyone like
- 22:15this? Do I have to go back and being
- 22:17hard again? Yes, no, yeah, most definitely.
- 22:20And that's the one thing I do love about the business is
- 22:22you'll have like maybe 1 bad seed, but the rest of them are
- 22:24cool. The rest of them give you the
- 22:26reason of why you do what you do.
- 22:27Yeah, yeah, for sure. So you're saying you're not
- 22:29confident, orientational, you're not very good or maybe very good
- 22:32at it? Yeah, I guess because, like,
- 22:35conflict is good. Yeah, conflict is going to help
- 22:38you because conflict exists and everything.
- 22:41Like we're going to have conflict regardless, but it's
- 22:44how you are able to approach that that's important because
- 22:47we're human and we're going to like, we think different.
- 22:50Yeah, we need to be OK with everyone thinking different.
- 22:52So is that, is that something that you're trying to unlearn or
- 22:55what are you doing with that now?
- 22:56Well, I'm just kind of going with the flow.
- 22:58So I'm like when it needs to be out, it needs to be out when you
- 23:01don't, don't. But like, it's one of those
- 23:03skills that you have to develop that thick skin.
- 23:05Regardless of the profession you're in, if you stay with that
- 23:07little soft skin, you're not going to get anywhere at one
- 23:10point or another, whether it's your entrepreneurial career,
- 23:12your corporate career, or just life in general, you have to
- 23:15have that thick skin to be able to withstand society.
- 23:17Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was something that that was
- 23:21shared with me a long time ago to like this type of industry
- 23:23you had to have thick skin in. And it's like, all right, well,
- 23:26what does that look like? And how do I make sure that this
- 23:29doesn't turn me into somebody who is doing something that I
- 23:32don't want to be, You know what I mean?
- 23:35But also, I was always kind of a bitch.
- 23:38Well, not always kind of nobody wants to see high school me.
- 23:42I think everyone now is getting to experience a really cool
- 23:45version of me that nobody fucking deserves.
- 23:48But at the same time they do. So see, when I say that that's
- 23:51that's me going like, you know, relapsing.
- 23:56I call it relapse. You're like, that's it.
- 23:59Yeah, yeah. That's what happens.
- 24:00That's what happens. So what do you think that your
- 24:03younger version of you would think now she saw you now like
- 24:07in what you're doing, she would be giving me that little.
- 24:09Golf clap like you did it sis, like clock it.
- 24:12No, she would be really proud just because I feel like
- 24:14entrepreneurship was something I've always dreamed of since I
- 24:17was like 1415 years old. And being able to have my first
- 24:20brick and mortar is just monumental to it.
- 24:22It's the first milestone. And who knows where we're to
- 24:24come to like when we're 40, if we're even working still at 40.
- 24:27Yeah. So what's the?
- 24:29Goal now, right now well, we'll. See, yeah, we'll see.
- 24:32I think right now we're just trying to make City Girls Liquor
- 24:34the brand, the profitable brand, and then just build from there.
- 24:38Whether we decide to open a chain of them, whether we decide
- 24:41to turn into a club, whether we decide to do something with it,
- 24:44At the end of the day, it's just building the brand and seeing
- 24:46where we go from there. Yeah, Yeah, I love what you.
- 24:48Guys, what is it a team of you or what is it?
- 24:51Is it just you? OK?
- 24:52It's a team of us, OK? I love what you guys have been
- 24:54doing even on your tick tock lately.
- 24:56Like they're just really fun. They're relatable, the things
- 24:59that you're doing on there, like and so.
- 25:02Like you are you just. There always behind the counter
- 25:04and just like OK, what can I do today, you know, just scrolling
- 25:07on. Emotions.
- 25:07I think that's. One thing that does set us
- 25:09apart. From the other liquor stores and
- 25:10since we're so young, like the team itself is very young, so
- 25:13we're a little bit more fun with their content.
- 25:14A lot of the liquor store owners won't want to sit there and do
- 25:17the funny crap that we're playing around with because
- 25:19they're they're too old, they're too cool.
- 25:21But I'm like, we're young, we're funny.
- 25:22Why not? Yeah, like it's my brand, so I
- 25:25can do whatever I want with it. For sure, For sure.
- 25:27That's the. One thing I do love, yeah.
- 25:29Do you think that you'd? Ever go back to corporate life?
- 25:31Well, I still AM in corporate life.
- 25:32Oh, you're still in? What do you mean?
- 25:33What do with beauty? No, I still have my 9:00 to.
- 25:36Five too. You still have your nine to
- 25:37five, OK. What are you?
- 25:39Is that something you want to talk?
- 25:40No, we'll keep it very bare. OK.
- 25:42But yeah, no, I still have my 9:00 to 5:00.
- 25:44OK, OK, Damn. OK.
- 25:47Yeah, I was. No, I'm all over the place.
- 25:51So essentially what it? Looks like to everyone.
- 25:53Else I work 2 jobs so I have my 9:00 to 5:00 and then I have my
- 25:56liquor store business. Damn.
- 25:58Yeah, and. You have the beauty pageants,
- 25:59yes, Yeah. So what pushed you to run into
- 26:02Miss ICT? So ultimately.
- 26:04What pushed it was I was competing in Miss Latina.
- 26:07Well, the very first Miss Latina, which was Miss Latina
- 26:09WSU in college. And so the story of how pageants
- 26:12even came to be was I was in my freshman year of college and I
- 26:17was running low on financial aid and I had seen an opportunity on
- 26:21Facebook that Halo was doing Miss Latina WSU.
- 26:24They had X amount for a scholarship.
- 26:26I was like, look, I could really, you know, profit from
- 26:28that because I really need the money for school.
- 26:30And I was like, well crap, I've never heard of ways every time
- 26:33when you're in. It I feel like I was really good
- 26:34when I was young about managing money more than I am now.
- 26:38Oh, yeah. Oh.
- 26:40Yeah. And so I was like, I have.
- 26:41No idea how patents work. Keep in mind, like none of my my
- 26:44cousins grew up in it. I never really watched a
- 26:46pageant. The most I seen was iCarly back
- 26:48in the day when that girl did the pageant.
- 26:50Sam, yes, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:52And then she's eating the chicken wing.
- 26:54Yes. I was like that.
- 26:55Were the drumstick the drumstick?
- 26:57Yeah, yeah, yeah, yes. That's the most I had.
- 26:59Seen and then toddlers in two hours, just a smidge.
- 27:01So I was like, well, you know, worst comes to worst, we don't
- 27:05get anything. Best comes to best, we get, you
- 27:07know, a piece of our education paid for.
- 27:09Yeah. So I was like, let's do it.
- 27:10Let's hustle. Let's bring a team together to
- 27:12make this happen. And so I remember I had told my
- 27:15madrina I was like, hey, madrina, so I'm getting into
- 27:17this beauty pageant. Can you like, let me borrow a
- 27:19dress? And she's like, I got you cuz
- 27:20she owns La Pasadita. OK, So she helped.
- 27:23Me out with the. Dress and then what else was I
- 27:25doing? I think I had a cultural wear
- 27:27too, so we did like all the Latinas were bringing out
- 27:30different parts of their culture.
- 27:31I remember one girl brought her quinceanera dress, another girl
- 27:35did. What is it like?
- 27:36Wow. But for her, she's still fit in.
- 27:38That quinceanera dress we're talking about like 5-6 years
- 27:41later, yes, right. No, I don't have.
- 27:42That way somewhere. That is Gone Girl.
- 27:46You would see some creative crap happen.
- 27:48Yeah. So I was like to my brother,
- 27:49what can we do that's a little different?
- 27:51He's like, we can do some of the others like yes, let's eat with
- 27:54that just cuz I have those artistic brothers.
- 27:56I was like, do you guys mind? And so my brother, I remember,
- 27:58dolled me up and did like Dientes and everything super
- 28:01cool. We did a folklorico dress eight.
- 28:04Well, wait, but you're. Durango.
- 28:05So like the Danza from the main Danza from Durango, Isn't it the
- 28:09guys who are with the Jaguar? I think so, but I did.
- 28:11Chap Bus because I thought it was so pretty.
- 28:13I love Chap Bus Dress. OK, OK.
- 28:15Yeah, yeah. And so I.
- 28:16Remember, yeah, we borrowed that from a madrina, too.
- 28:18She came and clutched on that. And then I forgot what the last
- 28:21component was. I think it was probably an
- 28:22interview or something. But competed in that, got second
- 28:25place for a very first page, and I was like, I didn't do too bad.
- 28:27Yeah, I competed. In one more and it was.
- 28:29This black and gold and I was like, cool, I'm set for a little
- 28:32bit for school. We're good.
- 28:34Finished out my degree. And then the opportunity for
- 28:36Miss Latina, Miss Wichita Latina came about.
- 28:39I competed there, had that title for a little bit, and then some
- 28:42pageant tea happened there. Yeah.
- 28:44And what's the pageant tea? Oh girl, I'll tell you.
- 28:48I'll tell you. I'll just close it.
- 28:49My NDA has. Cancelled, but yes.
- 28:54No, the tea. On this one.
- 28:55So I was in this pageant. Do what you do and guess what
- 28:59you wish. I am not disclosing the pageant,
- 29:01but I was in this pageant and essentially we had held our
- 29:04reign for two years. And so they had insisted this is
- 29:07the day of the pageant for the state competition.
- 29:09I was like, OK, cool. Then they kept postponing it and
- 29:12postponing it and postponing it and the new girls would come in.
- 29:15I'm like, so is this pageant going to happen or not?
- 29:18Next thing you know, the pageant director, the state pageant
- 29:20director went Mia, took the girls money cuz there were some
- 29:24girls that paid in full and just gave the money to the director.
- 29:26But our pageant, and then it's a lot.
- 29:28Yeah, it's a lot of. Money like 2000 ish yeah.
- 29:31Ish or so and then plus all your wardrobe and stuff disappeared
- 29:34with that money. And he I remember he made a
- 29:36group chat with all of us and he was like, I will pay each of you
- 29:40guys back and this and that. He was going through a divorce,
- 29:43claiming he was suicidal, all kinds of crazy crap.
- 29:46To this day, I'm pretty sure those girls never got their
- 29:48money back. I was like, shout out to my
- 29:50pageant director because she did hold on to her money because she
- 29:52felt that SUS vibe coming up. Oh damn, that's good.
- 29:55No, but yeah, so. Then that was my second pageant
- 29:57and then the opportunity for Miss ICT came about and I
- 29:59competed there as well. I'm surprised that you.
- 30:01What made you still, like, feel, Oh, I mean, it sounds like maybe
- 30:05you had a good pageant director that that protected you, that
- 30:08you felt like, OK, I can still continue down this path.
- 30:10Yeah. So while I was still holding.
- 30:12My reign for Miss Wichita Latina is when I was going to get ready
- 30:14to, you know, release that reign to go compete for Miss ICT.
- 30:18So I was still in that pageant groove.
- 30:19And so I was like, OK, I can transition into the next system.
- 30:22OK, OK, gotcha. What was that another one?
- 30:24Because I was trying to figure out what it was called.
- 30:26Not not the SUS one, not the SUS one, the because don't you?
- 30:32I thought I saw two on your profile by door.
- 30:35So there's. Probably another one on there.
- 30:37Well, it's probably Miss Latina, so OK, I was.
- 30:40Like cuz it was abbreviated. So I was like, I don't, Yeah,
- 30:43yeah, that title is 2 day. Longer it is that 1 is.
- 30:45Really long. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:47So that was my Miss Latina. One and then last year, well
- 30:50I've competed already in two years.
- 30:52So it was Miss Ad Astra. OK, yeah.
- 30:54So the first time I competed, I think I got, I want to say 4th.
- 30:59The second time I competed, I got runner up.
- 31:01OK, how do you? How do you you know?
- 31:04Because it's it's a beauty competition.
- 31:07How do you manage the fact of those, you know, not winning
- 31:13first place? Yeah.
- 31:14So you just. Have to keep yourself honed on
- 31:16your reason why. I think that's one of the
- 31:18biggest things. So before I go and compete, my
- 31:21like go to make sure I feel right.
- 31:23Ritual is basically to go out and volunteer.
- 31:25So a lot of girls may do it for clout.
- 31:27They might do it for that reason too.
- 31:29But I go out to remember why am I doing this?
- 31:32So like, I'll go out and like volunteer at, you know, for
- 31:35example, East and I'll go talk to a classroom and tell them
- 31:37like about my entrepreneurial journey and just kind of
- 31:40explaining them the hurdles that I went through or talking to
- 31:42them about social media, about the goods and the bads and what
- 31:44happens when, you know, you're putting yourself out their own
- 31:47socials. But what can be the bad of it?
- 31:49A lot of people don't disclose just the the ugly side of
- 31:52things, but yeah. So I remember going in and
- 31:54doing. That I'll go out and volunteer
- 31:56at the Salvation Army, different things like that, and just
- 31:59making sure my heart feels like it's in the right place, OK?
- 32:02What have been some of the bad stuff that like, you know, that
- 32:05you'd want to share? So like people are like, so some
- 32:08of the bad. I remember at one point in my
- 32:11career when I was getting ready to go into my, what is it, my
- 32:14freshman year of college slash my senior year of college or
- 32:16high school, I was trying to save up as much money as I could
- 32:19because I was at Butler at the same time that I was in my
- 32:21senior year. And I was like a credit.
- 32:24Yeah, OK. Yeah.
- 32:25So I was going full time to school during the day, and then
- 32:27in the evening I was pretty much full time at night too.
- 32:30And so at that point, I was like, OK, I need to start saving
- 32:33up money for school to pay for my freshman year of college.
- 32:36And you remind me a lot of me. Girl, yes, the hustle.
- 32:40But you have no other. Choice.
- 32:41So I mean, like, that's the reality is that a lot of people
- 32:44don't realize like, or I mean, I don't, I shouldn't say that
- 32:49college is hard Now it is, you know, in terms of like being
- 32:53able to pay for that. And then yeah, you can look for
- 32:55scholarships. And if it's not for if you
- 32:57didn't hustle before it because I think that's the reason I got
- 33:00really lucky, lucky to not have so much debt because I worked my
- 33:04ass off to not have that. And I really looked for
- 33:07scholarships to not being afraid to look for scholarships or not
- 33:11feeling like I'm asking for a hand.
- 33:12But it's like, dude, you need it especially for college because
- 33:16they're money hungry with trying to get you to be in debt.
- 33:19An 18 year old, you shouldn't be in that much debt.
- 33:22Oh yeah, And then I. Remember even filling out FASFA
- 33:24and the only thing that it was offered was the unsubsidized
- 33:26loan. I was like dude there is no way
- 33:28I'm going to be able to pay interest while I'm still going
- 33:30to school. At the same time I'm like, this
- 33:31is crazy, they fuck you over. Yeah, they do.
- 33:34And so I was. Like, I have to move Cielo Mari
- 33:37Tierra to try to get my education paid for.
- 33:39I was like, my parents are at that point where they're getting
- 33:41close to retirement. I don't want to ask for them.
- 33:43And in the case that I can't afford school when I drop out, I
- 33:45don't want to leave that debt on them.
- 33:47So at that point, I was like, OK, you know, I'm realizing my
- 33:50situation. What am I going to do?
- 33:52I started hosting parties in high school, yes.
- 33:55I love. Yes, I started hosting parties.
- 33:57And with that money that we were getting from those parties
- 33:59because we were charged admission and we would do that.
- 34:02I love this. Where?
- 34:03Where? Was these parties girl?
- 34:05We would. Have different places.
- 34:06Oh, OK, OK, but but. Yeah, yeah.
- 34:08So we would host these parties and the money that we'd make in
- 34:10those nights, I would just put it towards my school.
- 34:12Good for you. Yeah, but in one of those.
- 34:15I remember my a university that I was, you know, going for had
- 34:20been lurking on my socials and I had seen, I'm pretty sure I got
- 34:23disqualified from a really big like full, full ride education
- 34:27paid for opportunity because of that, yes.
- 34:30'Cause they probably assumed. Underage drinking was happening,
- 34:32Yeah. Which?
- 34:33We're not gonna say yes or no. Absolutely not.
- 34:36Oh. Absolutely not.
- 34:38Oh, OK, so as. Far as I knew.
- 34:39No one was drinking on premise. Oh wow.
- 34:42OK, Good for you. Mine, yeah.
- 34:49Yeah. Damn that sucks.
- 34:51So that's that's what you're kind of saying is like be
- 34:53careful what you post. Because it can be interpreted in
- 34:55two different ways. So yes.
- 34:58And the Internet lives on forever.
- 34:59It will bite you in the butt whether it's tomorrow, 10 years
- 35:03or you look back at it and it's yeah, yeah.
- 35:05It's not worth. It.
- 35:07So I tell. Him I'm like.
- 35:08Even the retweets, because I remember when I was doing a
- 35:10campaign for a modelling campaign, at least they had done
- 35:13a deep dive on my socials and seen everything that I had
- 35:16retweeted on Twitter. And they're like this one.
- 35:18And I'm like, but it was funny, but it was from a friend.
- 35:20And they're like, it still counts.
- 35:22You better unretweet it. And so I'd have to sit there and
- 35:24Google search my own things and just find him.
- 35:27And I'm like, unretweeted things like that.
- 35:29So just know the Internet lives on forever.
- 35:31Whether it's a reshare or a retweet, it just goes on.
- 35:35So it will bite you if you don't think it won't.
- 35:36Yeah, fuck. But still head come on the pod
- 35:40and share them for real just. They're going to be like grill.
- 35:45This girl, RIP her. No kidding.
- 35:47I'm kidding. No, don't say anything.
- 35:49We're never going to force you to say anything that you're not
- 35:51comfortable. But there's still things that I
- 35:53will like. I won't ask questions that I'm
- 35:55not comfortable with answering myself.
- 35:57That's how I think of it all the time.
- 35:58I'm like, I'm not going to ask that question because you might
- 36:01ask me that question back and I know that I wouldn't be OK with
- 36:04answering it. So I'm not going to put that on
- 36:06that person. I appreciate.
- 36:08That, yeah. But I get what you're saying
- 36:10though, 'cause like man again, high school me was another
- 36:14beast. That's what I'm saying.
- 36:16You know and like. You know, like those Facebook
- 36:19memories that pop up. I'm like delete, delete.
- 36:22Nobody needs to see that. Dumb things I used to say.
- 36:26Speaking of social media. Did you guys get that report
- 36:29from Snapchat yet about your storage on there?
- 36:31No. Oh my goodness.
- 36:33I didn't realize how much Snapchat memories I had on that
- 36:35Dang app. 32 gigabytes of data. Damn.
- 36:38From the last like what, 10 plus years?
- 36:40Yeah, and. So they're gonna start.
- 36:42Charging for storage or your memories go away.
- 36:44What? Yeah, no, that's the only reason
- 36:46I still have. That app I don't even really
- 36:48like. I still I use it sometimes, but
- 36:50I don't like to use it anymore. Oh yeah, but I it's the memories
- 36:54on there. I'm like, Oh yeah, that shit was
- 36:56funny. Girl, you better export.
- 36:57ASAP really it will go away no wonder and they're.
- 37:01Starting to do that like whole premium thing I'm not paying for
- 37:03fucking Snapchat premium. Did you did you see that?
- 37:06Like, you know the half swipes, Yeah, where you kind of like go
- 37:09over to see what someone has said before you actually open
- 37:11it. So if you pay for Spotify
- 37:13Premium, it's happened to me that someone has told me you
- 37:17have swiped all my thing. And I was like, yeah.
- 37:20And I was like. So you're saying I can't even?
- 37:23Sneaky lurk Just yeah yeah. Because like, sometimes some
- 37:27listen man, sometimes I reply to things when I'm ready to reply,
- 37:32yes. And when I'm and.
- 37:34Because like. Yeah, that's it.
- 37:37That's all. I need to say I don't need to
- 37:38give you a fucking explanation. And I reply when I'm ready to
- 37:42reply. That's it.
- 37:44You know what it's. Saying RIP it off with your
- 37:46chest, it's saying open it. Just leave them on scene.
- 37:48Same. That's true.
- 37:49That's true and. So anyways, half I half swipe
- 37:52and this person's like, did you just half swipe all my shit?
- 37:54And I was like, how'd you know? We like no.
- 37:58You're tripping, gaslight the fuck out.
- 38:00Of them right now I mean I'm gonna own it and and they were
- 38:04like no I have Spotify premium I'm like Spotify premium who
- 38:09pays for Spotify or that sorry Snapchat yeah thank you I was
- 38:13like Snapchat premium who pays for Snapchat premium?
- 38:15You're old, not for real, but like you know, we're like I was
- 38:19like, why are you paying for that?
- 38:20And anyways, whatever. So watch out if you're guys,
- 38:27just open the whole shit now because you're going to get
- 38:29called out from my experience. You know what's going to be
- 38:32crazy? On what's next, I bet you
- 38:33Snapchat is going to be able to detect when you grab another
- 38:36phone and take a picture of your phone.
- 38:38Like being able to say someone recorded off of a unknown device
- 38:41or something like that. Yes, we would all be caught up
- 38:44in 4. K the amount of things that we
- 38:45send in our girls group chats will be like girl the T on so
- 38:49and so we'll be like. No screenshots needed.
- 38:52We're just using another phone, like yes, yeah, no.
- 38:55That's true. Well, I mean, now I don't know
- 38:58if you've noticed it has a little replay.
- 38:59Yeah. So Premium will show you who has
- 39:03seen it, Yeah. Who has replayed your thing.
- 39:06Yeah, girl. Yeah.
- 39:08So I would not be that invested. Don't got that?
- 39:10Time. I'm not, Yeah.
- 39:11Yeah, but that's that's the bad thing about social media too, is
- 39:14like how much engulfed you can get into it with someone like or
- 39:19like just I don't want to say like that that dopey main hit of
- 39:25seeing who's looking at your stuff or like where you get like
- 39:27really in your head or like did they look at it like, girl, stop
- 39:31looking? Yeah, like.
- 39:32Stop looking if he. Looked at your stuff, he's
- 39:33probably raw dog and someone else like just let it go
- 39:36already. She said it.
- 39:39Clock him, but he's raw dog and someone else let it go.
- 39:41You know what's crazy, though? I don't.
- 39:42Know if you guys had heard what's going on in Australia,
- 39:44they're putting a ban essentially anyone over the age,
- 39:47I think of 16 or under the age of 16 not having socials.
- 39:50Yes, I saw that. Recently, yeah, but that's
- 39:53that's right. They should do that.
- 39:55I agree. The last episode we were talking
- 39:56about the book they anxious Generation.
- 39:58I don't know if you've read it. Okay, It's a good book.
- 40:00It's a really good book. I've been telling all my friends
- 40:03I need to get on it. Yeah.
- 40:04But it. Talks about how much like social
- 40:06media has impacted us in our and like everyone in like when you
- 40:10got introduced to it and it really I mean no one knew how
- 40:14diabolical it could really be but like it can be because it it
- 40:18exploits on our psychology stuff and like I work in that UIUX
- 40:22stuff so like you learn about dark patterns and how you really
- 40:25can't explore similar thing when we go back to being sleazy with
- 40:28business but anyways, yeah like the suggested age is 16 and you
- 40:33should start getting on no honestly and that's.
- 40:35Good, because I mean, I remember seeing all these little middle
- 40:38schoolers bullying each other because of social kids would
- 40:41commit suicide from that. And I'm like, it's crazy, one,
- 40:45how little control as a parent you could have on that.
- 40:48That's true. But two, how ugly people can be.
- 40:51And if they get that ugly at that young of an age, just
- 40:53imagine how they are as adults and how miserable they genuinely
- 40:56are. That's true.
- 40:58But we're not miserable, so let's take a break for a drink.
- 41:01That was that was the best transition I could do.
- 41:04Thank you. I'm good.
- 41:24And we are back with segment #2 the podcast here with Shell.
- 41:30We've got our watermelon Palomas made by Fanister.
- 41:36I think I'm getting. Better at this guy's just
- 41:37kidding. No, I didn't actually.
- 41:38I mean the presentation. The presentation is better.
- 41:44The drink making is still I mean.
- 41:47It doesn't. It's not gross.
- 41:48I like it. What do you think, Michelle?
- 41:50It was good. Yeah, it was.
- 41:52Good. Had to go put some more salt in
- 41:54it because it just felt like it wasn't savory enough.
- 41:56But Michelle was like, Michelle was like.
- 42:02She's calling me like my mom. Guys.
- 42:06She's like Michelle AM. I in trouble.
- 42:12Sorry. OK, it just, I I don't know.
- 42:14It made me Anyways, Yeah, you know, she loves her four locos,
- 42:20her watermelon, 4 locos. Why?
- 42:21I so don't understand. She did disclose to us that she
- 42:24doesn't actually finish them. So this is a disclosure to all
- 42:28of our guests. Do not try to match Dusty and
- 42:31Ice Paste or Cory's. You will get hurt.
- 42:38Don't do it. It will not be fun.
- 42:42Don't. Do it.
- 42:44It's bad. It's bad we.
- 42:46Don't promote the drinking, we just do it because it's fun and
- 42:50there's a flight of stairs. So you will not make it down,
- 42:52that's true. There is a flight.
- 42:53Of stairs, Oh my God, with Marina's episode, when we went
- 42:57out the night before, coming up those stairs, I was like, man, I
- 43:02almost threw up. That's how hungover I.
- 43:05Was I was like fuck. I was like, man, I'm really
- 43:10feeling. It and then like, and then
- 43:12Marina's a shot girl. So we get in and she's like
- 43:15shots, OK. OK.
- 43:20Anyways, so we had to do you know this watermelon Paloma from
- 43:25Una Vida Tequila? We don't have a Drago right now.
- 43:29Bryce, please provide us some more.
- 43:33No, I'm kidding, but. We had to do a little bit of
- 43:35that. You know, I had to go back out
- 43:37into my backyard and get the watermelons that are next to the
- 43:42oranges. Thank you I.
- 43:43Forgot what I had in my backyard.
- 43:45It's been a minute. It's been, I mean, it's been
- 43:46since this morning. It's been since so much stuff.
- 43:49So much. Stuff is out there.
- 43:50I. Have the blueberries too?
- 43:51No ones been talking about a blueberry in a while or
- 43:53Raspberry, but like because they're in season right now it's
- 43:57December the 7th. So well, when you hear this
- 44:01episode, it is whatever day it is in your car or when you're
- 44:05sitting at home drinking your drink because you drink
- 44:08responsibly and not while driving.
- 44:10And watching our YouTube video. Maybe you should watch this on
- 44:13YouTube because I'm really pretty to look at.
- 44:18She's like, watch me. Subscribe.
- 44:20I'm kidding. Subscribe.
- 44:22They need the. Subscriptions.
- 44:23Oh, you guys gonna watch? Michelle because she has a
- 44:26beautiful nose. Like it's so freaking cute.
- 44:29Like it's just like a little button I.
- 44:32Mean so cute you can. Pinch it.
- 44:34Yeah. Why they like?
- 44:36We're talking to like. A multi pageant winner here,
- 44:39that's true, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 44:41So anyways, watch this episode on YouTube.
- 44:43You don't want to hear it. You do want to hear it.
- 44:44You want to hear it. So you, we want to be in all
- 44:46your holes. We've already been over this.
- 44:48I'll just stop there. Yeah.
- 44:50We love. All the holes.
- 44:54Funny's wild. And guys.
- 44:56She needs to take a shot. I need to take a shot.
- 44:59Are you saying don't try to match us?
- 45:01No, no, no, no. I.
- 45:03Am not. I said you need to take a shot.
- 45:05OK. No, I'm OK.
- 45:06I'm OK, you don't need more of this energy.
- 45:10OK. So we were going to get into, I
- 45:13felt like it was appropriate to talk about your your zero and
- 45:17four track record after the drink, you know, now that we're
- 45:21here. So I want to hear a little bit
- 45:23about this. So yes, yeah.
- 45:25So me versus the homeless. Population in Wichita in this
- 45:28last year we have been going neck to neck guys and the reason
- 45:32why dude, they keep breaking my car.
- 45:35What type of car do you have? I have a mom car.
- 45:39Yes, I have a mom car. So they're just after you.
- 45:41Because they think you're a mom. Yes, even though I have.
- 45:43No kids. I have two big dogs.
- 45:45They're guard dogs and they bite, but not with you in the
- 45:48car. No, they don't.
- 45:49No, no, no. So the very first one that
- 45:51happened was we had gone to Halloween party and I left the
- 45:53car in the parking lot. Next day, window broken into.
- 45:56Did they steal anything? No, I had just moved houses so I
- 45:59had crap in the back and I was like, goodness gracious.
- 46:01Did they take anything? No, just broke it just 'cause I
- 46:06was like fuckers, where are you pissing off?
- 46:09I don't know, I guess. They don't like your nose.
- 46:13Which I don't understand it's. So cute, I think.
- 46:16They just. They just have it out for me.
- 46:18Yeah, I'm just kidding. I'm totally kidding.
- 46:20No, but this last time, though, I was coming home from lunch and
- 46:24I was going back to my house. I kid you not, I was about to
- 46:27turn left out of light. Just got off a highway exit.
- 46:31Minding my business, listening to a podcast.
- 46:33Just chilling, listening. Two hours.
- 46:35Yes, yes, I was. No, but.
- 46:38I was just chilling, peaceful. Next thing you know, I had a
- 46:41gentleman under the influence guaranteed he threw back a pint
- 46:46of vodka. More than likely I dodged it
- 46:47because I didn't know if it was glass or plastic.
- 46:50Because I mean, why would you? Throw away whiskey or tequila,
- 46:53You're going to throw away. That's true, right?
- 46:56Yeah. You're not going to throw a
- 46:57tequila bottle like this. True.
- 46:59You'll finish. It.
- 47:02But he threw. It back, I dodged it and I was
- 47:04getting ready to turn so this man saw it as it was happening
- 47:07until you. Said fuck off, no, I dodged it
- 47:10like 'cause. He's walking, doing his like
- 47:11crazy man activities like yelling at the concoming cars.
- 47:14So I'm like, OK, you know, still OK.
- 47:16Yeah. Next.
- 47:17Thing you know he. Comes back and he starts yelling
- 47:20at my, like at me in my car. It's like screaming that I'm on
- 47:23top of his bottle. I did not hit his bottle For the
- 47:25life of me. I Will Rock with that.
- 47:26I did not hit the bottle. Yeah.
- 47:28And next thing you know, he jumps onto my car and punches
- 47:31the front windshield in. I was like, wait, he's actually.
- 47:35Able to break it in. Yes, he broke it in.
- 47:37It was almost. Like at the point where it's
- 47:38gonna collapse in and I'm like, on your passenger.
- 47:41Side or on your side, driver side like I'm just like.
- 47:45Someone says psych right now. And he's like, at that point he
- 47:47gets up and off the car, goes towards the driver's seat and
- 47:50like, it starts, you know, fucking going crazy.
- 47:53Wait, so like, what were you? Doing in that moment like,
- 47:55'cause like it took him a minute to come around.
- 47:57Oh no, he just. He was fast and you were and.
- 48:00You were like, I'm like. Oh, OK.
- 48:03It took a minute. You're froze, you're froze,
- 48:05you're froze. Everyone asks like what's your
- 48:06fight or? Flight on that one, I'm like,
- 48:07well, every scenario plays in my head in that like split second.
- 48:10It's like if I step on it, will I be considered attempted murder
- 48:14and like hit and run? Maybe I don't know.
- 48:17I was like and if I don't and I get out and try to fight it,
- 48:20this man obviously has the strength, the energized strength
- 48:23to punch a windshield in. He's going to kill me and I'm
- 48:26like, well, I mean, you're also. Non confrontational.
- 48:29You're not going to go fight him true I mean I would gas yeah,
- 48:32yeah, that yeah, the step on the gas yeah.
- 48:35But then you're probably also thinking like is this going to
- 48:37collapse in me Yeah, the windshield yeah.
- 48:39And so I'm like. Don't do shit.
- 48:40Just stay in the car. Don't be that person.
- 48:41This is not your time to be a superhero.
- 48:44Yeah. And so I was like, absolutely
- 48:45not shit. So instead I'm dialing 911 and
- 48:48I'm like, so this dude just jumped on my car and broke my
- 48:51windshield and they're like, where you at?
- 48:53And I'm like, I'm here. I feel like I had the most
- 48:55incompetent Wichita PD officers known to man.
- 48:59I wanna kid you not, I had the rookies of the year.
- 49:01So they told me to pull into this parking lot of church.
- 49:03And my dude, by the time they got there, he had done changed
- 49:06clothes. He's like in a whole new fit.
- 49:09He had a whole. Time to change his fit.
- 49:12He had a whole wardrobe change like Deanna and so.
- 49:16I'm like. They pull me into the parking
- 49:18lot. They're like, we're going to go
- 49:19try to get them. They're like, do you know which
- 49:20fist he used to like, punch your wheel and chill in?
- 49:22I'm like, it's like saying, do you know what color his eyes
- 49:25were? No, I'm horrified right now.
- 49:27Hex. No, Yeah, they're like, OK,
- 49:29here, let me see. And puts their hands into the
- 49:30this stuff. Into the glass, into the.
- 49:33Freaking glasses. Ow, I was like what?
- 49:35Ow yes, what do you? Think was going to.
- 49:37Happen. Did you tell him that?
- 49:39No. I was just looking at him like.
- 49:40Damn, do I really have Wichita PDS Finest on my face right now?
- 49:44And I'm like, bro, you have to be shitting me right now.
- 49:46It's the fact that you put it in there to figure it out.
- 49:48I was like, yeah. They get.
- 49:50The dude and then they have me behind the SUV, like trying to
- 49:54identify him and I'm like, OK, you do know he once saw my car.
- 49:59He saw me too. What is me hiding behind a?
- 50:03Like what is that? Gonna do like where were you?
- 50:05In this SUV and where was he like kind of OK, so like SUV?
- 50:09Is right here. I'm right here looking through
- 50:11their windshield out this way like the doors open, No.
- 50:14No, no, like you're. Inside the SUV.
- 50:15No, no, no. I'm outside like.
- 50:16Literally, they told me, look in.
- 50:19Wichita PDS Finest. I wish I had a dash Cam footage
- 50:22of this. You guys would be like what the
- 50:23fuck? So I'm over here like, don't
- 50:26you're like. Yes, I'm like, don't you guys?
- 50:28Have guns? Don't you guys have Tasers?
- 50:30Don't you guys have them detained right now?
- 50:32Yeah. And there's like 3 of you and
- 50:34one dude and one girl right here.
- 50:36What the fuck? And so where was he?
- 50:39Like over there with. PD theft.
- 50:41And so one of the PDS officers is like tending to her wounds
- 50:44because I'm pretty sure he like scratched or did something, I
- 50:46don't know. Yeah, probably.
- 50:48And I told my officer I. Was like, well, the easiest way
- 50:51to identify him is did you guys check his knuckles?
- 50:53Because I mean, if you just bashed a windshield in, I'm
- 50:56pretty sure you're not going to be scrape free.
- 50:57Yeah. Oh yeah, no, we haven't done
- 50:59that yet. Oh my God.
- 51:01I'm like, someone's a psych. Right, freaking out.
- 51:04Yeah, yeah, they're. Like do you want to press
- 51:06charges? I'm like, yeah, like, is that
- 51:08even a question? Like, no, no, just give him a
- 51:10pat on the back and be like, you scared her shitless.
- 51:12Yeah, good job. Good.
- 51:14Job I'm like this is crazy work but.
- 51:16Yeah, that's the story time of my last encounter with our crazy
- 51:19homeless population. OK, so that was story.
- 51:21Three sorry 2 the last one so that's.
- 51:23Five. OK, yeah.
- 51:25So 4 what? Let's see what happened.
- 51:27OK, so we had someone over Thanksgiving, like the day
- 51:30before Thanksgiving, come out and just steal our city girl
- 51:33sign. Like this huge ass sign I'm
- 51:36talking about. It's kind of like a solid 3 feet
- 51:38thing. My neighbors made it super duper
- 51:40cute, Straight up stole it and ran away.
- 51:42Oh my God, yeah, I'm. Like what are you gonna make?
- 51:45With that, you can't even make shelter with that, Yeah, yeah,
- 51:47the. Time prior to that this.
- 51:49Is like broad daylight. This is like 2:00.
- 51:51We had this huge like 4 foot sign that said we're not a strip
- 51:55club, not a bar, just a badass liquor store.
- 51:57Yeah, stole that too. Just ripped it and ran and I'm
- 52:00like can someone stop like is there an I'm sorry card here?
- 52:06Like what did I do to? Piss you off?
- 52:08No. Yeah.
- 52:08But the stories go on and on from there.
- 52:11Oh my God. What are you, what are you doing
- 52:13to combat your karma right now? I don't know.
- 52:16You have some karma that you did out there I guess, so I must
- 52:19have. Pissed off someone to the point
- 52:20where they're playing with my voodoo doll and they're like
- 52:21yeah, yeah, yeah. You need to put the male oh ho
- 52:25on you and everything girl. I need to slap that on my.
- 52:27Body at all times. I don't even know.
- 52:29And in the car, I guess. Oh my God.
- 52:33Yeah, but I remember hearing that you had to go to court for
- 52:36this and it's settled now. So did you win?
- 52:38Yes. I did win.
- 52:40OK, Will they get paid? Who knows, right?
- 52:42It's a homeless person. Yeah, who the hell knows.
- 52:44Yeah, yeah. But interesting times.
- 52:46Interesting. Interesting.
- 52:48Times take a drink. Take a drink.
- 52:49Go. Ahead, you deserve it.
- 52:53Oh my God. Fuck what a scary thing.
- 52:56I can't imagine like someone, I can't imagine that they have the
- 52:59strength to bash in the wind, the windshield.
- 53:03That's crazy, the gentleman claimed he was.
- 53:05Only on alcohol. I was like, are you though?
- 53:08That seems like someone's a little energized off something.
- 53:11Yeah, yeah. Geez, and then you were telling
- 53:16this story on that other podcast too, but did you ever tell it on
- 53:18TikTok too or anything? I think I'm gonna go on a.
- 53:21Messy Monday for city Girls Liquor and just tell the story
- 53:23like hey guys, pictures here we go.
- 53:28And and so is your car fixed though now?
- 53:30Yeah, I fixed it the next. Day because I was gonna rain the
- 53:32next next day I was like OK there's no way I can't like not
- 53:36do stuff and I need a car yeah I took it to the shop I was like
- 53:39hey can you guys fix it they're like yeah what a pain in the.
- 53:42Ass though, and then that's expensive.
- 53:45Windshield's 200 three 5350 OK and then the other side and then
- 53:50you had to get the other side too.
- 53:51Other one I'm like. Stop Your guys's budget has
- 53:54officially exceeded Stop this, please.
- 53:56Yeah. Damn.
- 53:58Oh my God, at the end of the. Day were you?
- 54:00More annoyed about this than you were scared.
- 54:04Both. No, actually I.
- 54:04Think it's a hand in hand. I'm like PTSD, doubt anytime
- 54:07like a homeless person comes up to my car, I'm like, am I gonna
- 54:10have to step on the gas today? Yeah.
- 54:12Damn, yeah, but love. It love being a woman in 2025.
- 54:16Yay. It's so much fun.
- 54:19It's so much fun. It's girl math.
- 54:21It's. Girl Math.
- 54:23You plan. For the.
- 54:24Unexpected. Yeah.
- 54:26Yeah. Like.
- 54:30Oh my God. Has anything else similar to
- 54:32that as you're out even doing things?
- 54:35No, no. Good.
- 54:36OK, good. Nope.
- 54:37We just get a, you know, a wild card.
- 54:38On my bingo, it's just like, oh, Michelle's 2025 bingo card
- 54:42remark for the day. When was this?
- 54:43What time of the? Year was this this was let me.
- 54:46Think I want to say it's like October.
- 54:49Yeah, October. This is like a random, like
- 54:511230. Yeah.
- 54:52During the day. Damn.
- 54:54Yeah. My dad's lecture.
- 54:55Was don't be driving at night. You know, this is this is
- 54:59preventable. I was like, it happened during
- 55:00the day. This is not preventable.
- 55:03Yeah, such a. Typical dad or guy thing, you
- 55:06know the guy responses well, not dad thing.
- 55:09Well, why are you outside? Why are you outside?
- 55:11No, that's what I'm saying. Like I could see a guy or dad, I
- 55:14guess maybe, but also a guy just being like, well, it's your
- 55:17fault. Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 55:19Like, why were you driving so late?
- 55:20Why were you? What do you mean?
- 55:22I was just existing. I was, yeah.
- 55:24I was just existing. Just minding your.
- 55:30Business just had a full belly. You're ready to go back just OK.
- 55:34Well, this is what we're doing today, yeah.
- 55:37Oh my God. Yeah.
- 55:38So where were you going back home?
- 55:40I was working remote. That day, yeah, Yeah.
- 55:43And so I texted my boss. I was like, hey, so you're not
- 55:45going to believe this da, da, da, da.
- 55:48I'm going to be on a little bit later, and I may be taking a
- 55:51little bit of a longer lunch. A gentleman under the influence
- 55:55just broke my windshield. He's like, Oh my God, are you
- 55:58OK? Do you need me to go to you?
- 55:59I was like, I sent him a picture.
- 56:00I was like, I am fine. Currently with PD dot dot dot
- 56:03dot. Oh my God.
- 56:05What time did you, did you even go to work then or did you work
- 56:08that day? Because by the time you were
- 56:09done with all this, Yeah, I still had to go back.
- 56:11To a meeting I was like to my Co worker.
- 56:14So this just happened. She's like, yeah.
- 56:18'Cause it sounds like it took a while.
- 56:20Oh yeah, I did so. Like you were back at.
- 56:22Work by 3:00 PM by like 2230. Yeah, I was like, and you're
- 56:26like straight. Faced anyways.
- 56:29Did we meet? Your did we meet our quota
- 56:31today? The first thing on the agenda
- 56:33Who's got the minutes like? On our one-on-one today, yeah.
- 56:39Safety topic of the day, Yeah. Be careful with people, Oh my.
- 56:44God. Jesus.
- 56:45OK. Well, I'm really glad you're OK.
- 56:49Well, thank you. Yeah.
- 56:50Yeah, I'm. Glad yeah, we may need to start
- 56:52wearing. Helmets in the car?
- 56:53Yeah, I think so. And.
- 56:54You need to start having your dogs in the car.
- 56:56Yep. I think it's time.
- 56:59It's time. It's time you start.
- 57:00Bringing them with you. Yeah.
- 57:03So I guess like switch of topics back into.
- 57:06We were talking a little bit about like social media, we're
- 57:09talking a little bit about the beauty pageant stuff.
- 57:11I wanted to ask some, some like right now, you know, like you're
- 57:14seeing a lot of things around even just the lack of diversity
- 57:18in there or like even what happened with the Mexican
- 57:21pageant girl with who, who was the person he was?
- 57:27He was a director or something like that.
- 57:29His name's Nawat or something. Like that?
- 57:30Yeah, like. How are you going through all
- 57:33that, combating all that or like, why are you, you know,
- 57:36you're still really deep in all of this too.
- 57:38So just. Watching it from like, you know,
- 57:40the viewers, POVI think it's crazy, just that one, someone
- 57:45had the audacity to say that to her.
- 57:47Yeah, I think that's just crazy within itself because given that
- 57:51there's so many cameras, but also to feel the how would you
- 57:55say it, like the strength or just the.
- 57:56I don't want to say it inappropriately, but just to
- 57:59have the value to just go at a woman like that, it's crazy.
- 58:02Yeah. The audacity.
- 58:03There we go. The audacity is crazy.
- 58:04Yeah, but I think she was. Super deserving I she had
- 58:08competed and miss what is it miss Mexico this year and that
- 58:14pageant was crazy within itself. I don't know if you had heard
- 58:16the T on that. No.
- 58:17What happened? What?
- 58:18Was the T on that? Yeah.
- 58:19So when she had competed. She obviously won.
- 58:21That's why she ended up in Miss Universe.
- 58:23But when she won, none of the girls wanted to come up and give
- 58:26her a hug. Like, you know how they you guys
- 58:29see in those pageants, all the girls come up to each other.
- 58:31They give a hug of like, congratulations, whether it's
- 58:34legit or like fake, whatever it may be.
- 58:36None of the girls wanted to come up.
- 58:37So then Thalmann Ulipas came up. She was one of the first girls
- 58:40that came up to her. And she was like, don't look
- 58:42back, don't look back. And then a couple of other girls
- 58:45came up to her and joined her and gave her the
- 58:47congratulations. But they were so insistent of
- 58:49they deserved the crown more than she did.
- 58:51But I think that was just so sad.
- 58:54And then whenever she'd won in Miss Universe, the first thing
- 58:57she told cameras was, at least here, they gave me a hug.
- 59:00I'm like, that's so sad. It's just so ugly how some girls
- 59:03can get so caddy to that point where they don't feel like, you
- 59:06know, you should share the same wind for someone else.
- 59:09I'm. Like I think like that sounds
- 59:12like some of the cons with pageantry, right?
- 59:14Like like balancing that like lack of confidence or someone
- 59:19having a lack of confidence only chasing because it it can be
- 59:22very what what am I looking the word?
- 59:28I can't even think of the word, but it can be more about outer
- 59:34look appearance. There's a word and I cannot
- 59:36think of the word and maybe the drink has gotten to me.
- 59:40I. Got you buffering too.
- 59:42Yeah, yeah, you got me. Buffering now.
- 59:45That I'm like, wait, what? Superficial, yes, OK, that's the
- 59:50word. OK yeah, like you know it can it
- 59:53can be seen as a bit superficial.
- 59:55So like do you know I'm sure or have you experienced that or
- 59:59just like seen that or like what are kind of like the pros and
- 1:00:02cons into going into this? Yeah, so you do see.
- 1:00:04It a lot in pageants, you know, you see the cattiness, you see
- 1:00:07the superficial women, but you always have to see the beauty in
- 1:00:10it. I think that's one of the things
- 1:00:11like you got to see the relationships that come out of
- 1:00:13it. You have to see the light that
- 1:00:16comes out of that moment or that opportunity.
- 1:00:18And I think that just correlates with everything in life.
- 1:00:20You know, there's going to be moments that you're dealing with
- 1:00:22X problem at work or X problem and you know your personal life.
- 1:00:25We have to see the highlight of it, what's going to come out of
- 1:00:27it or what's the lesson that's going to come or the connection
- 1:00:29that comes out of it. So there's been moments where
- 1:00:31you go in and you're dealing with some catty women, whether
- 1:00:34it's the moms, the girls, directors, anything really in
- 1:00:38between or someone stealing your money.
- 1:00:40Yes, yes, there's. All kinds of craziness that
- 1:00:43comes with it, but what comes out of it?
- 1:00:45What relationship did you build or what did you do in your
- 1:00:48community that highlighted in that time?
- 1:00:50So you just have to really see the nice like golden light from
- 1:00:53it, like what you were saying earlier.
- 1:00:55About the value of like what you were trying to, what were the
- 1:00:59values that you were going in with it, with it and did like
- 1:01:01you do that? Yeah, and I did.
- 1:01:04And so for me, one of the things I really wanted to highlight was
- 1:01:07entrepreneurship and really pushing it with younger
- 1:01:09generations, just given that I was a young entrepreneur at one
- 1:01:12point, being able to say, send that same seed off that the
- 1:01:15universe once gave me. And that's what I sold you to
- 1:01:17this day. Just going out to volunteer,
- 1:01:18kind of explaining my story and just being very transparent.
- 1:01:21I think that's one of the greatest things that I wish I
- 1:01:24would have seen when I was younger, just being able to ask
- 1:01:26them, hey, you know, tell me about this time, but be honest
- 1:01:29with me so I know what I'm going into.
- 1:01:31And just being able to return that seat is what's really
- 1:01:34keeping me fueled. Yeah.
- 1:01:35Yeah. And.
- 1:01:36People that look like you, because I think like that does
- 1:01:39make a huge difference when you see someone who looks like you,
- 1:01:42because then you're like, oh, I can do this.
- 1:01:45Like, and now I can see myself in this versus like you see
- 1:01:49somebody else, but does not look like you at all.
- 1:01:52And you're just like, well, that makes sense.
- 1:01:54Yeah. And then the nice.
- 1:01:55Thing too is you just need that one person on your team and
- 1:01:57you're gonna run miles with it. Luckily for me, when I was in
- 1:02:00high school, that one person was my YE teacher and then from
- 1:02:03there I was able to run absolute miles up to this day.
- 1:02:05And so being able to be that same cheerleader for kids back
- 1:02:08is what I do. Yeah.
- 1:02:10How many? Mentors or what mentors would
- 1:02:12you say you have right now? So I have a few.
- 1:02:14I have a. Handful of them.
- 1:02:15So I have personal mentors when it comes to my corporate life.
- 1:02:17I have personal mentors when it comes to my business life.
- 1:02:20And then I have some just on the pageantry aspect of it too.
- 1:02:24I love that. I love that.
- 1:02:28I love that, sorry. I'm, I'm reading over here some
- 1:02:31other stuff too. OK, if you could create maybe
- 1:02:34like a signature drink for city girls, what would it be?
- 1:02:38Oh. I would honestly, the signature
- 1:02:43drink I would choose and it's on our menu today is the Hood
- 1:02:46Paloma. The Hood Paloma.
- 1:02:47OK, what's? What's in the hood?
- 1:02:49Paloma girl? It's secret I.
- 1:02:50Can't say it. You guys have to buy it at City
- 1:02:52Girls Liquor. But all I can say is one of the
- 1:02:55signature items that comes with it is something that's created
- 1:02:59by Lady Burrito. It's her chamoy rim dip.
- 1:03:01It's homemade, fresh, super duper good.
- 1:03:04It's better than anything you get store bought.
- 1:03:05I think that's one of the things that our customers always like
- 1:03:07rave about, just that, you know, that chamoy is just so fresh.
- 1:03:11You can taste the hints of different ingredients that she
- 1:03:13has in there. Nice.
- 1:03:15I like her. Burritos.
- 1:03:16Yes, she does. Great work, amazing burritos.
- 1:03:20That girl. Anything she touches with love
- 1:03:22and you could taste it. I love that.
- 1:03:26Right, because we didn't really say what City Girls Liquor, It's
- 1:03:29not just a liquor store. And you guys do do some really
- 1:03:32cool stuff on your TikTok, on your socials, but you didn't
- 1:03:36really talk about, like, what it is because you have a different
- 1:03:40concept for your liquor store. Yeah.
- 1:03:41Yeah. So City Girls Liquor.
- 1:03:42Is a walk up in a drive through liquor store.
- 1:03:44So we do let people in. So before people hit us with
- 1:03:46that stigma of you don't let us in, we only have to shop at the
- 1:03:49counter. Know a lot of people just order
- 1:03:51at the window just because it's express service.
- 1:03:52If you're like, OK, I want a bottle of don't Julio, we can
- 1:03:55run and grab it really quick versus you coming in looking for
- 1:03:57it and doing the whole shebang. Let's let you let us get you to
- 1:04:00your next destination. And I think one thing that we
- 1:04:03really emphasize, given that we're in downtown and we're the
- 1:04:05only liquor store in downtown, downtown, is we really go with
- 1:04:08the pregame culture. I think just that pregame is
- 1:04:12really something that's bigger than our millennial age group.
- 1:04:14That's why we really push it. And so we have our little
- 1:04:16cocktail kits that we call pregame kits.
- 1:04:18It'll come with your shooter, your mixer, your cup of ice.
- 1:04:20So that way when you're ready to drink it, whether you're at your
- 1:04:22girlfriend's house or you guys are all getting together at, you
- 1:04:25know, a house party, whatever it may be, you guys have everything
- 1:04:28you need for a fresh cocktail right then and there versus, you
- 1:04:30know, getting it pre made. It gets watered down.
- 1:04:32It's not going to hit the same. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:35And so, yeah, we really. Try try to make that extra step
- 1:04:37and be that liquor store that's part of the journey and be like,
- 1:04:39hey, do you remember that liquor store when XYZ happened Yeah and
- 1:04:43so that's the. Story behind.
- 1:04:44Why City Girls is the way City Girls is?
- 1:04:46Yeah, 'cause I mean, it's almost.
- 1:04:47Wait, where's the drive up part though?
- 1:04:49Like it's so you just go to the back of the.
- 1:04:51Building you'll see the cute pink and white lights and then I
- 1:04:53love it, the cute pink and white.
- 1:04:54Lights. Yes, they're very.
- 1:04:55Cute and they're bright. But you'll see the cute pink and
- 1:04:58white lights. We'll come out and take your
- 1:05:00order and load you up. So if you're like, girl, I'm
- 1:05:01getting like 1024 packs of Michelob Ultra, we're going to
- 1:05:05load that up for you. So you don't have to even get
- 1:05:06out because in the winter, girl, I do not want to get out.
- 1:05:09Yeah. You're loading them up.
- 1:05:11We'll load them up for you. Oh shit, so you'll be?
- 1:05:13Loading them too? Yep.
- 1:05:14The whole team, yeah. And that's why.
- 1:05:16That's why your back is thrown out.
- 1:05:18What's? Oh yeah.
- 1:05:19That that's why I. Have the full yield.
- 1:05:21That's why she's got to live. That's that's why you have to.
- 1:05:24Yeah, yeah, girl, you have to explain that because.
- 1:05:26People are going to be like, what, you mean your back got
- 1:05:28thrown out? I was lifting weights.
- 1:05:35She was. Lifting weights, they're like.
- 1:05:38No, no. No, no.
- 1:05:40No, I was lifting weights. I was doing a workout from one
- 1:05:43of my trainers and I had bent over and I was like, let me play
- 1:05:45with my fifth placement because I'm getting bold, right?
- 1:05:47And then I heard the and I was like, oh shit, I'm getting a
- 1:05:50little old guys. Let me let me try to put up my
- 1:05:53weights. I was like, my back is not
- 1:05:55bending like that. And I was like, oh, let me try.
- 1:05:58Stretching it out, I was like, no baby girl, you need to go
- 1:06:00home is where you need to go, so.
- 1:06:03Yeah, that's why I haven't. Lifted in like 2 weeks Oh my
- 1:06:07God. You were talking about some of
- 1:06:09the millennial trends that you are are not trends, but some of
- 1:06:13like, you know, the pregame culture and doing all of that.
- 1:06:17And so there's a lot of like nostalgia reboots right now
- 1:06:20going on with like early 2000s. What are things that like you
- 1:06:24know that you're doing that you know you're trying to bring this
- 1:06:29back into your business or even as you're creating content or as
- 1:06:32you're doing anything right now, like what are you trying to do
- 1:06:34too? Or like what are these trends?
- 1:06:36How are you trying to like know when I want to dive into a trend
- 1:06:39or when I want to get off of it? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:41So with. Us, I mean, it doesn't hurt just
- 1:06:43to try it, just try it out. If it does good, we continue
- 1:06:46with it. If it doesn't, then we don't.
- 1:06:48I think with the millennials, since you really do emphasize in
- 1:06:52that pregame culture, really just choosing like cool drink
- 1:06:55names, stuff that like resonates with you.
- 1:06:58Like at one point I remember, I think it was one of my
- 1:07:00competitors, they had a drink like named Haktua.
- 1:07:05That's good. So like those cool, funny name
- 1:07:09drinks, right? You're going to be like, I want
- 1:07:11that. A lot of people just want it
- 1:07:12just 'cause they want to say the name out loud.
- 1:07:14Like I remember we had some names like on our drink menu
- 1:07:17that says like, make it squirt, right, Something funny like
- 1:07:20that. And then you'll see like these
- 1:07:22older women say, can I get a make it squirt?
- 1:07:23And they're like, like little things like that.
- 1:07:26So we try to still hit with that, like, you know, pregame
- 1:07:28culture, but adding that fun to this too, you know, I don't
- 1:07:32know, it's just doing little things like that just enhances
- 1:07:35the experience. Like one thing with us, we
- 1:07:37always should have emphasized, like, let's grab a picture for
- 1:07:39you guys. Because here in a couple, like
- 1:07:41maybe in the next hour or two, you're probably going to get so
- 1:07:43plastered to the point where you're not going to even be
- 1:07:45wanting to take a picture anymore and you'll be like, Dang
- 1:07:47it, we should have taken that picture.
- 1:07:48But we yeah, so just doing little things like that, that
- 1:07:51just enhances the customer experience overall.
- 1:07:53You guys need to get Polaroids. Girl, yes, we just need.
- 1:07:56To do a little photo wall at this point, yeah, at this point
- 1:07:58you need. To do that, but like that way
- 1:08:00one you can give it to them and then you know what I mean Oh
- 1:08:02yeah, that'd be cute. Or right now a lot of people are
- 1:08:04in the disposable cameras they're really coming back
- 1:08:06again. Yes.
- 1:08:07I don't know if you've noticed that I've noticed that on my
- 1:08:09I've noticed it too weddings. Everyone doesn't know.
- 1:08:11Yeah, everyone's doing it. Again.
- 1:08:13Yeah. Sorry, I'm trying to figure out
- 1:08:18where. To go from here, girl, you're
- 1:08:19like, you're a very good talker. I could do this.
- 1:08:22I could like you're very good at like I'm always like, is this
- 1:08:26question going to trip up? Because did I ask you right?
- 1:08:28And you're just like, Oh, I already know.
- 1:08:30I'm like, I'm all over the. Place.
- 1:08:31If not, I'll yap about something else.
- 1:08:34If anything, we can. Go ahead and jump into the
- 1:08:36lightning round. Yeah, OK, let's.
- 1:08:38Do it then. OK so I'm scared.
- 1:08:43So lightning round. Is really where you begin to or
- 1:08:47we're going to ask you just a round of questions and then you
- 1:08:49just want to be able to answer like what is your go to off the
- 1:08:53top of your head? Yeah.
- 1:08:54So you want to kick off? Sure.
- 1:08:57OK, Blanco or Reposado. Blanco Oh, that was OK.
- 1:09:01Paloma or Margarita? Paloma, OK City girl or nature?
- 1:09:05Girl city girls, always. City girls up.
- 1:09:09One beauty product. You take to a desert island,
- 1:09:12SPFSP. F.
- 1:09:15Yeah, that's smart. That's a good answer.
- 1:09:18She puts on the sunscreen. Yeah.
- 1:09:21Go to your karaoke. Song.
- 1:09:28Right now cuz Spotify said this. I love that song.
- 1:09:32I love it so much. Beyoncé's like, broke.
- 1:09:35Cut that damn song. Why?
- 1:09:37You heard it way too much with me.
- 1:09:39I'm like, dude, that's the same with you and Nathan Vega.
- 1:09:41I'm like, yeah, leave me alone. If I want to jam out to this,
- 1:09:44leave me alone. Yeah, I love that song.
- 1:09:48The worst? Drink you've ever had besides 4
- 1:09:50loko Hey hey. I like to say I get it on the.
- 1:09:55Rocks. Not really, I promise.
- 1:09:58I liked it. With crushed ice.
- 1:10:02OK, worst drink. Worst drink?
- 1:10:04That's hard. Not the Hock to you.
- 1:10:09No. I didn't try that one.
- 1:10:11I'm gonna be honest, I didn't try it, but let me think.
- 1:10:17Pass. I'll take a shot.
- 1:10:18OK. Take a drink.
- 1:10:20Take a drink. OK.
- 1:10:25Who is your delulu celebrity twin?
- 1:10:29My Duluth celebrity. Twin.
- 1:10:31I don't think I have one. No.
- 1:10:32OK. What's your toxic trait in
- 1:10:36entrepreneurship? I'm a workaholic.
- 1:10:41Yeah, I don't know how to balance my work life.
- 1:10:43Balance quite yet, Yeah, there's it doesn't.
- 1:10:45Exist. Yeah.
- 1:10:46When you find, when you realize that, that it doesn't exist, I
- 1:10:49think you feel at peace. Yeah, I'm like, I just.
- 1:10:52I'm always like, oh, let me look up stuff for my business or let
- 1:10:54me do this, let me do that, or I'll be at work and I'm like,
- 1:10:56oh, answering emails at 12, Yeah.
- 1:10:59Let it go that you think that it there's a balance.
- 1:11:02It doesn't. Let's.
- 1:11:06See a trend that you're loving right now?
- 1:11:07A trend that I'm loving. OK, this is gonna sound funny,
- 1:11:12but Twitch. Twitch, yeah, streaming, people
- 1:11:16streaming. I think that's something we're
- 1:11:18going to end up, you know, venturing in as a liquor store,
- 1:11:20seeing what happens with that. I think it's fun.
- 1:11:22We get some characters throughout the week, but really
- 1:11:24in the weekends it's pretty lively, especially in downtown.
- 1:11:27And if not the cheeseman that happens in downtown, the amount
- 1:11:29of like wrecks and just all craziness, I think that'd be
- 1:11:32cool to see on a Twitch stream. So Twitch I think.
- 1:11:36It's crazy. That people love to watch, so
- 1:11:38why not give them something to watch?
- 1:11:41It's like your dash Cam. OK, OK.
- 1:11:43I like where you're. I like where you're going with
- 1:11:45this. Yeah.
- 1:11:46OK. One word your friends would use
- 1:11:48to describe you. Ambitious city girls had a mask.
- 1:11:54On what would it look like? Oh, like the cute little.
- 1:11:58Cartoon character that we have in the front, OK.
- 1:12:02A business idea you know is dumb, but you look you want to
- 1:12:05try. I don't know.
- 1:12:13Let's see. Let's see something that's dumb.
- 1:12:18OK, I the other day we were watching Landman.
- 1:12:21I don't know if you guys ever seen that little coffee shop
- 1:12:23that they had. It was like bikinis and what is
- 1:12:27it? Bikinis and bronzer, bronzer and
- 1:12:30coffee or brews and bikinis or babes in bikinis or something
- 1:12:32like that, Something like that. I think that'd be just wild, but
- 1:12:35iconic. They they have those.
- 1:12:38See listen. Listen brews and bikinis.
- 1:12:40Something like that or it. Might be babes and babes and
- 1:12:43brews or something like that. But yes, something like that
- 1:12:46here in Wichita. If you guys see that, mind your
- 1:12:49business and if it's pink, then it might be us.
- 1:12:53Is pink your favorite color? No.
- 1:12:54It's not. What's your favorite color?
- 1:12:56My favorite color is yellow. OK what?
- 1:12:58OK, White. Pink, then very feminine, very
- 1:13:00out there. Very different.
- 1:13:01And so when it came to the liquor industry, since it's
- 1:13:03really male dominated, we added the hen of pink just so it pops
- 1:13:07OK I. Love it.
- 1:13:08I think it's a good idea. Yeah, if this.
- 1:13:12Year 2025 were a drink. What would it be or taste like?
- 1:13:17I think we should all agree it's a Four Loko.
- 1:13:20And it's maybe. A5 Loko given how many?
- 1:13:22Times it's happened, yeah, at this point, yeah.
- 1:13:25Yep, Yep. You're right.
- 1:13:26You're right. Yeah.
- 1:13:28OK. Well, with that, Michelle, I
- 1:13:30think we've heard a little bit about you, your stories, your
- 1:13:32passions, your interests. So tell us and our listeners how
- 1:13:35they can find you and how they can support you.
- 1:13:37Yes, you know, come through. To the store, I would love for
- 1:13:39you guys to come buy a bottle. If you can't share us on social
- 1:13:43media, follow us, interact with us, talk crap because believe it
- 1:13:47or not, that still gets attention for me.

- 1:13:53I love it. Please give.
- 1:13:54Me some tea to distribute. And handle and I might put you
- 1:13:57on my messy Mondays Pariva. Pabaco pasentro Y padentro.
- 1:14:03Oops, I was late. Now we're doing pics.
