- 2:30welcome and thank you for tuning in tonight. And before we get started,
- 2:34you know we always have to go to God in prayer first, so
- 2:37buy your heads with me. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you once again for
- 2:42bringing us all together, keeping us safe, and providing each and everything that
- 2:46we have come to you in need of. We may often speak of what
- 2:53we want and what we desire, but you know what we need best of
- 2:57all, So continue to guide us as we share our thoughts and information tonight
- 3:02with each other. As how we have been able to find our purpose through
- 3:07the pain that we have endured, because without you, we would not even
- 3:12be able to endure anything that we go through. So we thank you and
- 3:15we honor you and your precious name Jesus, we pray. My guest tonight
- 3:22is a wonderful and amazing author, but she wears many, many hats.
- 3:27It's not just that she's an author, but her name is Miss Brandy Hunt.
- 3:30She is a Greenville native. She is a mother of a twenty three
- 3:35year old daughter. Lord, bless your heart, because I know how that
- 3:38is. I have a twenty seven year old. Oh yeah, so I
- 3:44know how that goes. She is the author of many, many books.
- 3:49Her very first one she published in twenty fourteen, and that was titled Dealing
- 3:54with the Hand that I Was dealt. Miss Brandy is also the owner of
- 4:00TAG, which stands for transform Aligned Growth Enterprises, where she coaches others on
- 4:08various topics of life. So with her mini hats, she's a mom,
- 4:12she's a publisher, she's a coach, she's a brand strategist, and she's
- 4:16a mentor. So her ultimate goal is to empower and uplift with anyone that
- 4:21she comes in contact with and helping them to reach their full potential because most
- 4:27of the time, most people don't know what their potential is until they have
- 4:30someone speak the life into them. So welcome my guests, Miss Brandy Hunt.
- 4:35Welcome, Thank you, thank you for having me. You read that
- 4:39so eloquently. Well, listen, you sent me something and I was like,
- 4:46Okay, how can I break this down and use every single point that
- 4:50she gave and just a synopsis of who you are? You know, and
- 4:57that's basically what it is. And so I needed to figure out, even
- 5:02using your bio, what we were gonna talk about tonight, because I could
- 5:06have picked so many different things to talk about, but one of the things
- 5:11that stood out to me is your adversity, having to the title of your
- 5:16book, basically was dealing with the hand that I was dealt, which meant
- 5:20that you had to go through some things in order to dig deep and find
- 5:26what your purpose was, which is basically what this our podcast is about.
- 5:31Believing in the journey of what you've been put in on this are four.
- 5:36So we're gonna talk about finding that purpose in that pain. Good good,
- 5:43I'm excited about it. What was the thing that started you on that path
- 5:50to figure out what your purpose has been? Now, if I had to
- 5:58pick something that put me on the path, I'm I'm gonna always say I
- 6:02was raised in a church family, so my mom plays the piano, my
- 6:09grandfather's a preacher. My whole family sings. I sang in all the choirs,
- 6:15you know, as we grew up. And I believe that even though
- 6:18we may not know the seeds that are being planted. I remember being a
- 6:23child and people looking at me going, you're gonna, you know, go
- 6:27out into the world. And I'm like, I'm not going out into anybody's
- 6:30world, and you're gonna change lives unless y'all go into the club with me
- 6:33on Thursday. But that's where I'm changing the lives at. And you know,
- 6:38as I continue to get older, But I do remember reading my grandfather's
- 6:42books, Jake's you know, as we were coming alone, you know,
- 6:46just reading the Bible, things like that. So when it came to purpose,
- 6:48I remember my aunt put a book in my hand called The Purpose Driven
- 6:54Life. Yes, this is on my way to the club. I remember
- 6:58it very clearly. She was like, you know what, I'm ana pray
- 7:01for you. I said, what, I'm not doing that wrong, untie.
- 7:04I'm just going out here with the people. They loved me. I
- 7:06love them, so what is the problem. But I was always an avid
- 7:11reader, Like I said, I was always reading my grandfather's books. I
- 7:14was always I always like information. Even as a kid, I stuck my
- 7:18thumb and you know I was kidching. So but for punishment instead of you
- 7:25know, getting whoopings and stuff. My brothers should start still upset about this
- 7:28whole thing, but I didn't get earlier. My Daddy would tell me to
- 7:31read a book or read the encyclopedia, and then I would have to come
- 7:35back and tell them what I learned. So when it came now doing what
- 7:40I do in life, going back to those moments, I'm like, God,
- 7:43you this was a setup. Yep, entire set up. Because when
- 7:47I was singing on the choir, they would give me solos and I would
- 7:50cry. And so I always tell people, if God can use me,
- 7:55he can use anybody. Because I refused to sing if I had to have
- 8:00a mic in my hand, and I fell public speaking in college because I
- 8:03would not stand in front of a bunch of people. So that's the short
- 8:07version of what put me on the path was. I think it was a
- 8:11set up the entire time. And as the Bible tells us, the seeds
- 8:16that we put in our children will not return to us void, right,
- 8:18God says about us? What what I sent the word to do it,
- 8:24will do now. We might fight against it, yes, but I do
- 8:28believe that what set me on the path a long time ago was set there
- 8:33without my permission, and I collided with pain and we had a baby,
- 8:39and this is permission. We are now. And that's usually what happens,
- 8:46because when you get older, you start to look back over those things that
- 8:50you did as children and you like, okay, well that's connects to this,
- 8:54and this connects to that. Okay, well, that's not the whole
- 9:00intention of what I figured this was gonna lead to. But I understand that
- 9:05because I never like I took public speaking in college, and my thing was
- 9:11I didn't like to get up and speak. For number one, I don't
- 9:16like public speaking. Number two, the podium was always taller than me,
- 9:22so I would always have to stand out away from that, so I had
- 9:28nothing to hide me. And I'm like, if I can be hidden behind
- 9:31this, then it doesn't I don't have to worry about people staring at me
- 9:35completely because I'm hidden, but they can hear me because I had a big
- 9:39mouth, so you gonna hear me no matter where I'm standing. I just
- 9:43don't want you to look at me when I'm saying it. So I was
- 9:48a cheerleader. I was always boisterous and fun and outgoing. And I've been
- 9:52that since I was a kid, and I even beg for the solo,
- 9:56I even practice. It was something would freeze me as soon as I stood
- 10:03up there. And of course it was always unidentified as to what that feeling
- 10:07is, but we all have it. And God would take me two different
- 10:11scriptures where the prophets went through the same thing. Moses and his brother had
- 10:16a whole argument, send him, no, send him, send him.
- 10:18He's a betaker than I am. And and God's like, no, I'm
- 10:22gonna send you. I just need you to open your mouth and I'll feel
- 10:26it. And I remember God saying that to me because I was like,
- 10:28God, keep people keep asking me to come and speak. I'm not a
- 10:31speaker. I'm not a preacher. Do what I have the word down on
- 10:35the inside of me. Hollelujah. My mama was a player. Again.
- 10:39I always tell people I had the word before the word. I mean,
- 10:43just way back when music is my thing, but singing wasn't my whole fam
- 10:50They do concerts and all of this stuff, and I'd be like yeah,
- 10:54I'm power my thing. And so when speaking came along, I was like,
- 11:01this is a setup. Like God, you know that I already said,
- 11:05I'm an actress probably like so the stage was never a fear for me
- 11:11until I got that mike in my hand. And then I found out that
- 11:15like ninety five percent of people, their number one fear is public speaking.
- 11:20So God took me through a process of going to toast masters and you know
- 11:24things like that where I could face my fear. So a lot of people
- 11:28talk, you know, how how do pain and purpose go together? Well,
- 11:33if if you have pain behind ending up in front of crowds or whatever
- 11:37the case may be. Like, I was never daunted as a kid or
- 11:41nothing like that when it came to it, So it wasn't a fear of
- 11:43people that had done something to me. Maybe like I said, I was,
- 11:46I was always the shortest, smallest, everything. And so then we
- 11:50also have the comparison. I knew I didn't sing as good as some of
- 11:54the other people. So I think that same mentality follows us through adults.
- 12:00Uh, And so God used my pain to propel me into my purpose.
- 12:07But I had to do the walking. I had to do the saying yes,
- 12:11even though I might say the greatest at that time. God will always
- 12:16promise me one day you're gonna be called the greatest, you know one,
- 12:22and I'm gonna and and God doesn't even use the greatest that they think they're
- 12:24the greatest. God say I'll take the least and make the greatest, because
- 12:30He doesn't even want us to believe that we're just you know, all high
- 12:33and mighty, because then you can't speak to us. We're speaking our own
- 12:37words. So I do believe that that that nudging we have in us that
- 12:41we have to depend on God. There's been times that people like, can
- 12:45you say something at the end of whatever? And I'm like, I ain't
- 12:48practice, but you know, now that I'm down the line a little bit,
- 12:54I know how to get my nerves together quick. I know how to
- 12:58come up with a quick speech. You know, there's things and techniques behind
- 13:01it, but anxiety itself. Some people cannot get past that, or or
- 13:09or don't attempt to. You even mentioned you know, behind the scenes,
- 13:11you know you're shot and you're out here doing a whole podcast. That's why
- 13:16I would I would, I would be likely to say that any anytime you
- 13:20say, you know, we have our nature and we have how we're hard
- 13:24wired, and then we have what we believe and know to be our calling
- 13:28and anointing and purpose and assignment. And I do believe that the two fight
- 13:33against each other because my my heart wired nature is like, yeah, I
- 13:37really don't like people. Know your people can kind of be a little testy,
- 13:46and then guys like yeah, and then he calls you to minister to
- 13:50people. So a lot of times when when I hear people say, you
- 13:54know, God used my pain and a thrust me into my purpose, but
- 13:56they're still standing still if because I'm like, because just because you moved to
- 14:03your graphical locations doesn't mean you're past it. Just because you're not still living
- 14:09there or working there or dealing with that person doesn't mean that that angst and
- 14:15anger and anguish didn't come with you, which is what and I was dealt.
- 14:18It talks about going back to the past and dealing with it back there
- 14:24and see how many decisions you're still making based on past experiences, and then
- 14:31make a new decision totally opposite. How do you feel, Because I feel
- 14:37like doing a lot of stuff that I shouldn't do. I feel like dating
- 14:41people who God might be like no, and I'm like goo, God,
- 14:48he's this that the third and God is like yeah, but I know something
- 14:54about him that you don't know. I'm out of there. And so if
- 14:58you know, like for me, faith is I can't do this without God.
- 15:05I can't do it without praying first. And I was doing that at
- 15:09an early age. My daughter is twenty two. I'm only twenty nine,
- 15:15and so I had had an early age. And so my daughter's twenty two,
- 15:20I'm forty two. So I've been praying since the day she was born.
- 15:26You know, God, please help me to be an example. But
- 15:31life is still life. Like we talked about, you know, yeah,
- 15:33you're not going to be perfect, but God don't want perfect. He just
- 15:37wants obedience and exactly the mark, and you are gonna get it wrong.
- 15:41But I believe a lot of our pain is attached to what we believe should
- 15:46be happening, and rest in our disappointment of yes, not happening. Now
- 15:50that's outside of any kind of abuse, physical abuse and things. So once
- 15:56I've dealt with all of the those things that happened, we still have life
- 16:00going on, and people start getting stuck in their every every challenge and test
- 16:06that comes along. They're like, get out on the floor, like I
- 16:08want life to end, and I'm thinking you get just gotta get through and
- 16:14get up and keep going. Pain is temporary and if you give end to
- 16:21that pain, endure it until you get to the next next part. Like
- 16:26when you go to the gym, you work out, you're sore for just
- 16:30a little while, but after you continue continually do it, you're not as
- 16:34sore anymore. Now you realize you got some muscles you didn't have that you
- 16:40didn't think you had your store in new places. But that comes with growth,
- 16:45and that comes with strengthening those weak muscles, and that's what life is.
- 16:51You know. You go through those situations and you go through that pain,
- 16:55and once you're able to endure that, it's like, oh okay,
- 17:00that was not as pleasant as I wanted it to be, but it was
- 17:03necessary. And so once you get through that, it's like, oh okay,
- 17:10Lord, what's next. Like I did a little thing where we were
- 17:17coming into twenty twenty three and I have been through so much last year and
- 17:23I have just basically made a little video and I was like, Lord,
- 17:26look here, I'm just asking a question. I'm coming to you, and
- 17:30I know I shouldn't be minding my business, but I just want to know
- 17:33if this year I'm gonna be on the long list or the short list of
- 17:38what is to come, because my troubles seemed to outweigh what I feel it
- 17:45I'm capable of dealing with. So am I gonna be on the long list
- 17:48or the short list? Because I prefer to be on the short list of
- 17:51troubles this year? To fits my height, it fits my statue. But
- 17:56you know, I know I need to go on and mind my business,
- 17:59so I'm gonna go back. But I just thought I might ask that question.
- 18:02So I did that little video basically asking that because I'm like, Lord,
- 18:07we endure so much, and we pray about whatever it is that we
- 18:12see our for ourselves, but we never ever intend to go down in the
- 18:19valley. We never intend to be up on the mountaintop. We just want
- 18:25to see the destination in which we prayed for. But He doesn't give us
- 18:30just exactly what we prayed for, because we gotta show that we're worthy of
- 18:34what we prayed for. So I feel like that's why he takes us through
- 18:40those things. And brings us through painful situations so that we learn to appreciate
- 18:45the sunshine and the rain, because you gotta have both in order to move
- 18:48forward, right absolutely, And there's a scripture that says, endure hardship like
- 18:56a good soldier. I believe it's what that says. And was a soldier.
- 19:00And so sometimes you know, when I look at scriptures like that where
- 19:04it says, you know, fight the good fight of faith, and you
- 19:07know, I'm thinking, that's not how they taught it to us. It's
- 19:11not there, you know, where it's like an invisible battle. But the
- 19:15battle is really not invisible. It's people. It's people at work, it's
- 19:22people at your house in it, and you and and and the person in
- 19:27you. And what I've learned over the years is that sometimes the trouble don't
- 19:33stop. Nope, and and and sometimes it gets even faster than it was.
- 19:37And you're like and the same like you, I said, can you
- 19:40take me off the strongest soldiers soldiers list God? Because yeah, this year
- 19:44was really not you know, it's not what it's not given what it was
- 19:48supposed to give. Young people would say, you know, God reminded me
- 19:53to endure heartship like a good soldier. And what that means is, you
- 19:57know, and basic training and things like that. They're training you for war.
- 20:02Yes, feels like the war, but that didn't even the war.
- 20:04And what I understand is that he's he every time we have an attack or
- 20:08a counter attack of the attack, he's building our endurance or something that we
- 20:14can't even see. I wouldn't be able to be who I am without the
- 20:17things that I've gone through, without having extended my patience. My patience was
- 20:22very short, and depending on it, it's like a Wednesday, it might
- 20:26be short again. But I've learned to have extended patience with people where my
- 20:33cues was really short, or I've learned how to change my dialogue, my
- 20:37dialogue when it came to talking to people, because I was really sharp and
- 20:42that was something that being God had to deal with. So I believe that
- 20:45just me saying me saying yes to the book. I don't know if it's
- 20:49time to talk about that yet. It's that hill, yeah, and I
- 20:53got to write the book. I was not an author then, not want
- 20:59to be all there was not on my list of things to do. If
- 21:02anybody knows me, I wanted to be a Dallas cow girl, and I
- 21:04wanted to be a military police. Other than that, I was gonna be
- 21:10an actress and I was gonna write movies and plays, which I was doing.
- 21:12I was writing movies and plays and I was acting, and that was
- 21:15good for me. Like I was like, yeah, I was working at
- 21:18a bank and I was just having you know, I was doing what I
- 21:22believed my purpose was. On the weekends, I had a dream that I
- 21:26was in a library that was tons of books in it, like a Library
- 21:32of Congress, and I was like, oh, I must have like a
- 21:34really big house. And I audibly said, whose books are these? And
- 21:38I heard a voice say they're yours? And I was like, oh,
- 21:41I do have a big house. And then I woke up and I asked
- 21:45again. I was like, whose books, Like, whose books were those?
- 21:51And I heard the Holy Spirit say they're yours? You wrote them?
- 21:56Say what? Now? Not? Really? Yeah no, because remember my
- 22:04patience was short, So anybody that's written a book understands that that means I'm
- 22:10gonna have to sit down. I wasn't necessarily clubbing anymore, but I was
- 22:14doing a little few cocktails over the weekend. You know, going to and
- 22:17fro, I was acting. I was going out of town. So you
- 22:19telling me to write a book literally says sit down and focus on something.
- 22:26And my focus meter was about this loan Manaia. My daughter at the time,
- 22:30she might have been twelve. Yeah that was because it came out in
- 22:36twenty fourteen, so she was thirteen. So my daughter's thirteen start. God,
- 22:41I don't have time for this, so I wrote it down. I
- 22:44wrote the whole dream down because I was like, well, that was really
- 22:47like, have you if you have vivid dreams, I do write them down
- 22:51Because at this point I was like thirty, so God had been speaking to
- 22:55me where I could understand. I'm saying he might have spoke to me as
- 22:57a kid, but I don't remember from that. But I tween five ish
- 23:03after my aunt gave me that book and started to I was always in church,
- 23:08but Church wasn't always in me. Yeah, so the principles of God
- 23:14were not always in me. And so as I got older and it started
- 23:19to try to really figure out how to stop making so many hiccups in life,
- 23:26I wrote it down and I had I was a dancer to not that
- 23:32kind of dancer for y'all listening. I was a praise dancer because I'm like,
- 23:34you put the club and dancing together. I had, yeah, go
- 23:38ahead, that disclaimer put it on. So I was a crazy dancer.
- 23:44And then there was a conference going on downtown in Greenville, and I went
- 23:48to the dance conference. And at the dance conference, a lady was sharing
- 23:52her testimony from her book and and and I said, well, you know,
- 23:56I'm inside. I'm like, I'm gonna ask the lady can she maybe
- 24:00possibly help me. I have an aunt that has written like six or seven
- 24:03books. But I was like, now, I don't want to bother her.
- 24:07You know, she's already made it. So I little me on a
- 24:11totem pole bothering her. And so I said, I'm gonna walk up to
- 24:15this lighty Well before I could even finish, she said, stop by my
- 24:18table. I'm doing a class. I'm doing a workshop on how to write
- 24:22a book. And I it was a no brain. I mean to me,
- 24:23it was that was a no brain. I was like, okay,
- 24:26God, if I'm gonna do it, I need help. And so I
- 24:30took her class. And I started out with a book called Lord, Please
- 24:34Help my Husband and used me to do it. So I was married at
- 24:37the time, and it was a book about prayer. So it was like
- 24:41a twitter I play on words, Lord, please help my husband. But
- 24:44it was just like a cry from a wife's heart, so help her husband.
- 24:48But it was it was a book on prayer. And he squashed it
- 24:53two months into me writing me and I was like at another conference and lady
- 25:00looked at me and she said, God said do what he told you to
- 25:03do the first time. And I was like, Yeah, of all the
- 25:07prophecies I've ever gotten, that was the best. And the other thing she
- 25:14said was he said clean out your closet. Yeah that was good, no,
- 25:21ma'am. So I went but I wrote it. Now y'all try with
- 25:23me. So if you're with me, you're like, man, that's how
- 25:26I feel when I talked yes, because I said, well, I'm gonna
- 25:29write it down cause I don't want to be the rebellious child of all of
- 25:32us. And so I wrote it down. When I got home, I
- 25:34was like, what are you trying to say. I was in Fayetteville,
- 25:37North Carolina when I got the prophecy, and that's where we were raised.
- 25:41So we're writing this story together. So the whole time I was there,
- 25:45I was crying. I don't even know why I was crying. It was
- 25:51no emotional things. But we're on the bus and I'm looking at the city
- 25:55and all of a sudden, like tears started coming out of my eyes.
- 25:56I'm like, why am I crying? And so I I my my father
- 26:03passed away in in two thousand, no, two thousand, in nineteen ninety
- 26:10So this is what the book is about. Anybody that it's like, what
- 26:12is the book about? This is what it's about. I lost my father.
- 26:15How how I lost him? You'll find out. I won't tell you
- 26:18on this show. But I lost him in nineteen ninety three. And so
- 26:22we're back in and this is the first time I've been back to Fayetteville in
- 26:26twenty something years. Okay, So we're riding through and my mom's picking out
- 26:30different places that we had been. I was like, oh, yeah,
- 26:33I remember that. I was twelve when we got back here, but I
- 26:36remember, and all of a sudden, how all these tears come in my
- 26:38eyes. So this lady don't know me from Adam tells me that I get
- 26:44home and God starts putting the pieces together for me. He's like, you
- 26:48never you never dealt with your father's death. And I was like, yeah,
- 26:53I have, Like I understand he passed away. I was a kid
- 26:56when it happen. He's like, no, I wouldn't even go to the
- 27:00grade yard. Okay, so he made me go. I say, he
- 27:03made me. He led me to the great yard and I and he reminded
- 27:08me that I said these words, you might as well bury me with my
- 27:12father. I forgot that. I said that I was twelve, and I
- 27:15remember I watched them lower his body into the ground because I was just stunned.
- 27:21Like I'm a kid, I had never dealt with death or anything.
- 27:25It seemed like we were you know, life was good for me from a
- 27:27kid's perspective. Good grades. My sister and brother, they was all right.
- 27:32I was on my middle child. So you'll see my nose go up
- 27:34when I talk about my sister and brother. But I love him. So
- 27:38here I am like, okay, so what book do you want me to
- 27:42write? Okay? I get it, like I haven't really dealt with my
- 27:45father's dying. And he said everyone that you date reminds you of your father.
- 27:52And I was like pause, now, now we gotta go back two
- 27:57years. I ended up in a domestic violence shelter. You have to read
- 28:03the whole book to find out how I ended up there by amestic violence shelter.
- 28:07And when I got there, the lady asked me, where is your
- 28:11father? And I said, my father did? What does my father have
- 28:15to do with this man putting his hands on me? And she said most
- 28:19women are a lot of women, not most, but a lot of women
- 28:22that come through are dealing with not having a father in their lives. So
- 28:26my guess was either he was dead or passed away. And she said,
- 28:30can you also describe to me your last four relationships, because commonly your date
- 28:40on the level of what your father was or what he promised. So because
- 28:45I was only twelve and he left, I would imagine that provider. You
- 28:48know, he was tall. I ain't always dated it tall, but I'll
- 28:52never leave you. Well, because he left, somebody promised to never leave
- 28:59me then and we was we was in there like four flags. It don't
- 29:02matter what you needed me to do. What you need. Money you need
- 29:06cause you need clothes. But it's a hard child with you when you don't
- 29:08realize it, because you're just doing things to not feel the pain of their
- 29:15pass right now. I hadn't been in psychologist school and none of that.
- 29:19I hadn't none, none of And so they had been two years since I
- 29:23had talked to that lady, and God reminded me that I was still there.
- 29:29I had not put the tip, and so I'm digging through my closet
- 29:33while I'm trying to get these revelations from this lady hearing God, and I
- 29:38still didn't have a book title. I just knew he was saying, you
- 29:42need to deal with deal with that. And he kept saying the word deal
- 29:48And I found a picture of ex of mine. I'm not this is before
- 29:53phone, so don't judge me for having an actual picture. So I found
- 29:59the in my closet and I was like, I don't want to deal with
- 30:03this, like it is a stuff everywhere and all the Spirit dropped it in
- 30:07my my spirit dealing with the hand I was dealt. And he had given
- 30:11me the title years before that, like ten years before, and I thought
- 30:17it was gonna be a movie or a play, which it could be,
- 30:19but that's what I thought it was gonna be. And I, you know,
- 30:22I wrote it down and went on with life and so now you want
- 30:25me to write Dealing with the hand I was dealt. I don't even know
- 30:27how I dealt with it. I didn't get going, and so I ended
- 30:32up writing the book based off of going back to how I felt at those
- 30:38moments and making decisions differently. So what does that look like? I went
- 30:44to the graveyard and where I said, you might as well put me in
- 30:48the ground. God had me say stuff like, although my father passed away,
- 30:52I still have life, and God you said that we have life and
- 30:56life more abundantly. I had to go back and look at the character of
- 31:00men that I was dating, which was very low on the totem pole,
- 31:04just so I could say I had what they say, a piece of a
- 31:07man is better than old man, and was having these pieces of men just
- 31:12to have a little bit of peace that really wasn't peace, because it's still
- 31:15times at the end, at the end of the day, with the hand
- 31:19that was deal goes through every really you know, emotion, when it comes
- 31:25to break ups, rate, molestation, you name it. I go through
- 31:30every situation that I had gone through and how it made me feel and what
- 31:37the fear that it left because happens this pain leaves residue behind and al those
- 31:44things are gone. You're terrified to go in public, or you don't want
- 31:48to make somebody new because you're fearful they're gonna hurt you. Ye won't want
- 31:52to try a new career because your old career was the greatest in God's life.
- 31:56But I got something new for you. These repet the cycles simply because
- 32:01what was old is familiar. Whether it's good or not, it makes me
- 32:07feel good in the moment, and then I'm like, well, why has
- 32:12my life changed or why am I moving forward? And you literally need to
- 32:16get your decisions. Are you still making decisions based on your past experiences for
- 32:22the fear of the future? Right, it's the fear of the future.
- 32:25Let's go ahead and just cross that line. Is it gonna hurt? Yes?
- 32:30I heard Joyce Maya say when she first started working out, her trainer
- 32:35told her it's gonna hurt for the next year. Just expected because what we
- 32:39do, because we're so we're not even microwave generation anymore. We're in for
- 32:45our generation after in two seconds, and so because of our psychological conditioning,
- 32:54we think God is like that, Hey, God, can you send me
- 32:58a man on Monday, and if he's not here on Tuesday, I'll just
- 33:01go find me one online and yeahs again unless he told you to go there.
- 33:08And I believe that God will give you unctioning when it's time. But
- 33:13if we just get tired of waiting, and I think this is why a
- 33:15lot of scriptures talk about weight on God, don't be so hasty. But
- 33:20again, i'm we we and our authorities. As if you're like thirty something
- 33:23like, well, I'm gonna live my life. Please do I want you
- 33:28to? I live my life? And people are like, you had a
- 33:30great life. Yes, it was great. It was hard, but it
- 33:32was great. And if it has it's stop being hard just because it's great.
- 33:37I've just learned that life is a railroad track. It's there's gonna be
- 33:40good, there's gonna be these things too bad to be bad. But I
- 33:45do believe that we have to refrain and revise our stories as we go alone.
- 33:51For the stories we tell ourselves. Yes, it does it it hurts,
- 33:54but it doesn't hurt to the point of quitting. It hurts, but
- 33:59it's just a challenge. E It's I told my daughter for something that I
- 34:01was going through that this is the easiest hard that I've ever had to do.
- 34:07Although it looks hard to the outside world, it's not. At the
- 34:12storage. I just told you that was hard. A domestic violence shelter was
- 34:16some strangers and I'm like, God that I have to go this way.
- 34:20He said, yes, because there's something that I need to do in you.
- 34:22It was in a domestic violence shelter where God gave me my women's ministry.
- 34:27It was in a domestic violent shelter where I prayed for women that I
- 34:30didn't even know that wanted to get saved because they said. One girl said,
- 34:35can you tell me about your God? Because I see that. She
- 34:37said, you don't look like we do. And I was like, yes
- 34:39I do. I'm yes, I look just like y'all. And it reminded
- 34:44me of the scripture that says when they see you, they'll ask you who
- 34:49is your God because they can see the light coming off of you. Now
- 34:52I'm going I'm getting on the bus just like they are. I'm walking the
- 34:55street to go, you know, to the grocery store just like that.
- 34:58I'm wearing clothes from the thrift store with the gifted money they are, And
- 35:04I'm like, what is it that they see and God said, they see
- 35:07me they And I asked her, I said, what do you see?
- 35:09And she said, you act like you have a tomorrow. And I said,
- 35:15I do because God promised me one He said it if I standfast in
- 35:21my faith, that it's not gonna last long. It wasn't prison necessary.
- 35:24I mean it felt like prison sometimes, But in sixty days, I didn't
- 35:29know where I was gonna go next, but I knew I was out of
- 35:31the trauma that God promised me he would be out of, and that he
- 35:36was gonna set my feet in a spacious place. And that's in Isaiah and
- 35:39it says I will set your feet on a spacious place. Now you're reading
- 35:44that from a room that's about two by four and a spacious You're gonna get
- 35:50me a spacious place. And so I believe that if we really leaned into
- 35:53what the word says for what it says, and not oh that's that was
- 35:58written for them people back in the day. No, exactly what part of
- 36:06this do you want me to use so that people can see that. I
- 36:09believe there's a tomorrow because we tolerate today on our way till tomorrow. It's
- 36:15tomorrow promise absolutely not. However, if I prepare myself for tomorrow, I
- 36:21don't have to have anxiety about today. I know he holds my hand.
- 36:24I know I've cried a whole river and still have it go off exactly.
- 36:30This part of life go ahead exactly. I mean, that's just what we've
- 36:37gone through in life. Like I know for myself, my childhood was not
- 36:44not the greatest, and I just recently lost my mom in June and I
- 36:49wrote Overcoming Childhood Trauma. My journey to healing was one of the things that
- 36:57it took me back and being able to look at and connect with all of
- 37:02the things that I was still currently doing that I was able to start breaking
- 37:07those cycles. I was even able to apologize to my own children for the
- 37:12things that I had learned throughout that time. And so that's why I definitely
- 37:19believe that God will show you visions like I never envisioned myself, you know,
- 37:24writing a book at all. That was not something I ever thought about
- 37:29doing. But he showed me that vision. He showed me a vision of
- 37:31me speaking in front of people, and I was like, God, I
- 37:34think that message went to somebody else that's not supposed to be for me and
- 37:38look at what I do now. And so that's why it's like I get
- 37:45every single thing that you're saying, because when God is speaking to you,
- 37:51he is really and truly speaking to you. And if you silence your mind
- 37:55and not become the victim of your circumstances, You're gunna be victorious because of
- 38:01it, because He's put everything into you that he needs for you to be
- 38:07who he's created you to be, who's everything that he wants you to see,
- 38:13fulfill have, and everything and the lives of the people that you are
- 38:17intended to touch. He brings those people to you. Right, You're just
- 38:22gonna be open to receiving what He's He's putting out there for you. You
- 38:28do and and one of the things that I try to drive home to people
- 38:31is it's gonna make you uncomfortable. Yes. I think there's an old saying
- 38:37that says, I, if your dreams don't scare you, they're not big
- 38:40enough. Exactly. It don't even have to be big. It could just
- 38:44be something you don't want to do. The people send you on a wild
- 38:50goose chase and you're like, do I have to do this? And he's
- 38:52like, yes, because we only we we do because we're off theres will
- 38:58use this analogy. We judge books from the first page, and when we
- 39:01start going through something, we're like, oh, this is horrible. Oh
- 39:06I'm never gonna make it out and you ain't been in it for two hours.
- 39:08And I talk about that in the book. I talk about how well
- 39:12you know if you're playing cards and you have a group of people you're playing
- 39:15with, you'll hear people say like, this is a bad hand. This
- 39:20ain't got no good cards. You ain't even played the cards yet. You're
- 39:24taking an assumption off of the last hands you played. And God, let
- 39:30me let me tell you what to do with the cards, because I'm the
- 39:34one that gave them to you. And I think what happens is we look
- 39:38at I look at what Trevida got a podcast and I don't, and I
- 39:43should have one because I'm better than her, or I'll just qualified as her.
- 39:46And God is like, this is not your own show, this is
- 39:49my show. And I called her for such a time as this, And
- 39:53yes, Jeremiah twenty nine to eleven, he has performed us in our mother's
- 39:58womb, so he knows our ups, our downs are less our rights.
- 40:00I think the main problem is social media and life itself. So even before
- 40:06social media got here, we still have and stuff like that. But now
- 40:08I'm seeing your face, opportunity to start in your face, and you really
- 40:13got to ask God, is this opportunity for me? Or is this to
- 40:15take her away from my purpose? Because if it's gonna it can look good,
- 40:20it tastes good, it smell good, it can do everything you wanted
- 40:23to do, have all the bells and whistles, and God be like wasting
- 40:29your time because it was great my path for you. But because he's a
- 40:34great God, He's like, I knew you was gonna do it. Did
- 40:37you get the lesson? Or do you want to go back around? And
- 40:42I remember him asking me, do you want to go back around this again?
- 40:45I'm like, no, let me make a different decision, whatever decision
- 40:49it is that you need me to make. Let me go down the scale
- 40:52of decisions that I've already made regarding this, and let me make another one.
- 40:55Because the children of Israel did not have to go around that now mountain
- 41:00for forty years that was supposed to be an eleven day trip, and because
- 41:05of their disobedience to their leader. They didn't want to listen to Moses.
- 41:08They write, they complained while they were out of Egypt, they were not
- 41:13yet into the promised land. And that's what happens to us. God some
- 41:16promise, and when it's not here on Wednesday, when he told us on
- 41:21Monday, were like, I knew you weren't coming through. Ye make it
- 41:25happen myself. And God's like, you really just get in the way all
- 41:28the time, and so circling the same mountain, and that's why we date
- 41:34the same people or we have the same experiences and they look similar because God's
- 41:38really try to say, are you really for a new level? Are you
- 41:43ready to you keep we screaming in church all the time read for a new
- 41:47level. I'm going to a new level. In a new level coming we'd
- 41:52be like, well, wait a minute, this is a little harder than
- 41:53I thought it was gonna be. But it says he can said there's an
- 42:00open door before me. It's in Revelations says there's an open door before me,
- 42:05and and in front of it there are many adversaries, or inside of
- 42:08it, there are many adversaries. When as you go through the door,
- 42:12the attacks are coming that's what it. Don't you know. They don't throw
- 42:15me for a loop the way they used to. So that parence that we
- 42:19build over time when we keep going through these different things, is God's way
- 42:23of saying, there's there's really a bigger enemy because you have a favorite,
- 42:30but let me give you some small stuff. Yep, I'm saying, how
- 42:32bad do you want it? Is a thing that I always say, God
- 42:37is gonna when you ask him to bless you with something, He's gonna take
- 42:40you through those things just to see how bad you really want it. But
- 42:45I also believe that God, he accounts for our mistakes, He accounts for
- 42:51our stupidity, so to speak, and so he knows that we're gonna go
- 42:55out trying to do it all by ourselves. And He's just like, Okay,
- 43:00I knew you was gonna get burnt, but you know, I let
- 43:02you go on over there because you thought you was ground, so I let
- 43:06you be ground, but not here you came. So let's do it the
- 43:07way that I told you to do it right. And I know it's part
- 43:12of the humility process when it comes to God, because there's only so much
- 43:15you can tell me. You can tell me about humility or when I walk
- 43:20through it and I've experienced it and I felt it, and I've been the
- 43:23one that had to lay in the floor and cry, and I've been the
- 43:27one that had to come back and be like God, I'm sorry. I
- 43:30do believe it creates a deeper passion and respect for God because we really believe,
- 43:37and like if God was sitting next to us, we wouldn't do half
- 43:40the stuff that we do. But it's God is sovereign and he is merciful
- 43:45that we go. Well, just maybe your hand because he didn't do nothing
- 43:52last time. But let me tell you something about grace. It does run
- 43:55out. It does grace runs out. You will feel his wrap, but
- 44:01will feel his love. So that's what I love about God, because that
- 44:06people not like that. People might only give me their rap. And what
- 44:08I love about God is that he know he's sending you into the fire,
- 44:13just like on the cross. He knew Jesus was going to be crucified.
- 44:16He knew it was going to be painful, but he also knew there was
- 44:20gonna be a resurrection. So although I can imagine that was painful all by
- 44:25itself, to watch your son who you sent, but you knew my love
- 44:30is going to come for him to endure, dure, and that's all I
- 44:36That's what I remind myself not to quit when things get hard or they get
- 44:40where they're unexplainable. You know, people leaving this world left them right,
- 44:46and you're like, Okay, God, how do I deal with the grief
- 44:50and keep going? Because it to me, it was like a day where
- 44:53you could just sit back and you could heal and you can go through things.
- 44:57But then when God put you on platforms like the ones we have,
- 45:01your grief goes along with your work, which allows that reminds me of me
- 45:06and Mayah. Me and Maya had to build and pray at the same time.
- 45:08And so I think we have seasons where where we're like who wrote salm
- 45:14David? David wrote Psalms from prison. You know, jo Pick, there
- 45:19was times that God will stick you in a room. You ain't got nothing
- 45:22going on, It's just you and him, Yeah, praise and worship every
- 45:24day. And then there's times that He says heal and move yeah at the
- 45:30same time. And I believe that both of them are true. And you
- 45:34just have to figure out where where you are in the process, because if
- 45:37God wants you to keep going and feel the pain as you go along,
- 45:43it's not being fake. It's literally saying, one, I believe that God
- 45:47is healing my heart, but I also know I have work to do,
- 45:52and if I don't heal, I won't be able to shine a light.
- 45:54And when i'm when I know I'm in a grieving season. But yet I'll
- 46:00put me on the platform to speak to the masses. That's still part of
- 46:04your healing. Your healing is being able to declare the word of the Lord
- 46:08over your situation and circumstances, but beyond your pain. That's the blessing.
- 46:15Because some people can't do that. They're like they unravel and then they go
- 46:20hide for four or five days, and then we see it again. They
- 46:22were like, oh, I was crying the river. I'm better now,
- 46:24and you're like, you lost four days of your life, right, something
- 46:30that we don't have any control over exact And so I've just learned to cry
- 46:36and drive at the same time. Hallelujah. I've learned how to process it
- 46:43fully, not just like pretend like it's not there, but I actually allow
- 46:47myself to feel the pain. I allow myself to the anxiety that comes.
- 46:52I've learned how to breathe through it. I'm taking myself. I go to
- 46:55many, many, many classes, not just conferences, but like act with
- 47:00technique, classes that talk about how to overcome you know, anxiety and fear
- 47:05and things like that, you know, physical therapy, massage therapy. So
- 47:09I believe that, like the new wave we're on about self care, God
- 47:15always had me on it. I just didn't know that's what it was called.
- 47:19But I believe that self care is part of our healing process because we
- 47:22went through things that people told us we didn't matter. You don't matter,
- 47:28you God don't matter. Nothing you do matters or say matters. You're ugly,
- 47:31you're fat. You know, we got all of these stigmas on top
- 47:35of us. Well, who's gonna speak kindly to you? Exactly if you're
- 47:38not doing it yourself, if you're not doing it yourself, and if if
- 47:43you are doing it yourself, when their words come, you have a pack,
- 47:46yeah, because the words I already know what to say, and you
- 47:50already knew how to block that out. And that's one of the things that
- 47:53I can say for me right now, Like I said, I just lost
- 47:57my mom in June and to continue on with this and like we had her
- 48:05service on June twenty first, I have my show the very next night,
- 48:12and it was a tough thing to do. However, I managed to pull
- 48:16myself together to still show up for myself in the midst of all of that,
- 48:21because number one, my mama loved my podcast. That was something that
- 48:24she got to see, mate you, and so it was like, Okay,
- 48:29either I can sit here and cry and now, mind you, I
- 48:30did cry a little bit through it. However, I was able to get
- 48:35through it. And I believe that God put me in this position and in
- 48:40this space to be able to show people that regardless of all of the hardships
- 48:46that I've been through, and I have people tell me, well, you
