- 0:02Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Hello, Big Blue Nation. Welcome to Just the Cats. My
- 0:13Speaker 2: name is Michael Bennett on this Thursday, September 10th. I
- 0:16Speaker 2: hope everybody's safe driving around in this rainy, rainy, rainy
- 0:21Speaker 2: day in Louisville, Kentucky. Got Justin Kalen with me today, Justin.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Good morning, my friend.
- 0:26Speaker 1: How are you doing? Good morning. I'm good. I'm trying
- 0:28Speaker 1: to get the YouTube up and going. Are you? And
- 0:30Speaker 1: I'll be settled in. Well, the light just turned on. Yeah,
- 0:33Speaker 1: it's on now. It is. That is weird. Although it's backwards. What?
- 0:38Speaker 1: It's the wrong direction than it normally is. So it
- 0:42Speaker 1: looks really strange. How's it backwards? I don't know. Okay, well.
- 0:47Speaker 1: It looks crazy. It does? Yeah, we're on. Okay. Which
- 0:52Speaker 1: camera is it showing from me? The one that I
- 0:55Speaker 1: couldn't get to come on. Okay. It's showing me, and
- 0:58Speaker 1: I don't understand. What do you mean it's backwards? So
- 1:01Speaker 1: it's like inverse of what it normally is. Is it really? Oh,
- 1:05Speaker 1: that's weird. Looks crazy. It doesn't really? Okay. So it
- 1:09Speaker 1: looks like I'm left-handed.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Okay. Exactly. Oh, wow. Okay.
- 1:13Speaker 2: That's going to irritate me because, you know, you see
- 1:16Speaker 2: those videos of people that are doing something on social
- 1:20Speaker 2: media and it shows them being backwards, which I always found.
- 1:25Speaker 2: I think the funniest thing, though, have you seen those
- 1:27Speaker 2: videos where there's the person supposed to appear in court?
- 1:33Speaker 2: And it's like either a Google Meet or it's a
- 1:36Speaker 2: Zoom or something like that. And it was this one
- 1:39Speaker 2: guy that was supposed to be at court regarding his license.
- 1:45Speaker 2: So he wasn't supposed to be driving, yet he was
- 1:49Speaker 2: driving as he was in the court in front of
- 1:52Speaker 2: the judge. I have seen that.
- 1:53Speaker 1: He's like, what are you thinking? It's pretty hilarious. He's like, dude.
- 1:58Speaker 1: He's like, I'm headed to the doctor. It's like, okay.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Sounds like you need another kind of doctor than probably
- 2:05Speaker 2: the one you're going to. I mean, my gosh, just
- 2:07Speaker 2: how dumb can you be?
- 2:09Speaker 1: People make some wild decisions.
- 2:11Speaker 2: They really do. I mean, and I enjoy those things.
- 2:14Speaker 2: The other ones that I've gotten.
- 2:16Speaker 1: So my new TikTok addiction is the street fights. I
- 2:20Speaker 1: can't do it. Why? I just can't do it. Oh,
- 2:23Speaker 1: my gosh.
- 2:24Speaker 2: There was this guy at a Raiders game. It's like,
- 2:27Speaker 2: what are you doing? And he gets into this gigantic fight.
- 2:31Speaker 2: It's just they're entertaining to me.
- 2:34Speaker 1: And most fights you see on the internet are like
- 2:37Speaker 1: the street fights. Yeah. I feel like it's just drunk people. Exactly.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I'm not trying to watch two drunks just beat the
- 2:45Speaker 1: hell out of each other. Oh, no. I love it.
- 2:48Speaker 2: The ones that they had at a football stadium where
- 2:51Speaker 2: they're in the upper level and the guy goes down
- 2:53Speaker 2: like five or six rows over the seat.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I don't like that. Oh, that doesn't make you uncomfortable. Oh,
- 2:59Speaker 1: of course it does. It gets me all worked up.
- 3:02Speaker 1: My anxiety goes up. My blood pressure goes up. But
- 3:04Speaker 1: I got to watch more. I'm addicted to him. No,
- 3:06Speaker 1: I just I instantly feel bad. I'm like, well, do you?
- 3:10Speaker 1: He could have been seriously injured or maybe is.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Well, why do you feel bad from there? The ones
- 3:14Speaker 2: getting drunk and getting into a fight? Yeah, I mean,
- 3:17Speaker 2: I don't feel bad for him.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. I can't really explain it. I
- 3:21Speaker 1: find myself rooting for one of them, too. Like I've
- 3:23Speaker 1: said in the past, I'm a big UFC fan, but
- 3:25Speaker 1: they're getting paid to do that. These guys aren't.
- 3:29Speaker 2: We need to come up with our own website, kind
- 3:31Speaker 2: of like historic racing. We take historic street fights, and
- 3:36Speaker 2: everybody can gamble them. Who's going to win the fight? Yeah,
- 3:40Speaker 2: but you couldn't do it live.
- 3:42Speaker 1: No. I mean, there is a website for fights. It's
- 3:44Speaker 1: called Worldstar. Yeah, but it's not street fights. You can't
- 3:47Speaker 1: gamble on it. You need street fights. Oh, you got
- 3:49Speaker 1: to gamble on it. Oh, come on.
- 3:51Speaker 2: If you gamble everything else today, you should be able
- 3:54Speaker 2: to gamble street fights and do historic street fights.
- 3:56Speaker 1: What do you want more? Let me ask you this.
- 3:58Speaker 1: All right, I'm ready. Do you want a website that
- 4:02Speaker 1: has just all these cameras from around the world, and
- 4:04Speaker 1: any time there's a street fight, we can put money
- 4:07Speaker 1: on it?
- 4:08Speaker 2: Kind of like the car chase channel. Whenever there's a
- 4:13Speaker 2: car chase, they go straight to the car chase.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. Or what's my other choice? Or would you
- 4:19Speaker 1: rather have it be the norm at golf course bars
- 4:23Speaker 1: to have four screens up on the wall with all
- 4:26Speaker 1: the par threes? No, I want street fights.
- 4:29Speaker 3: What?
- 4:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I want street fights. They're fun. You know how
- 4:33Speaker 1: much time I would spend at a golf course bar
- 4:36Speaker 1: if they had a TV dedicated to every par three? Yeah,
- 4:41Speaker 1: but I'd be there from dusk till dawn. I would
- 4:44Speaker 1: get bored of the party. It's like, okay, here comes
- 4:46Speaker 1: another guy. No, yeah. Just like there's a restaurant over
- 4:50Speaker 1: in Indiana. What's it? Bubba something. Bubba. 33.
- 4:54Speaker 3: 33.
- 4:54Speaker 1: It's for the prohibition. Okay. Oh, is that what that
- 4:57Speaker 1: stands for? I didn't know that. December 5th, 1933. Wow.
- 5:02Speaker 1: You know the date and everything. My sister's birthday. Oh,
- 5:05Speaker 1: that's why. Okay. It makes it easy that way. All right.
- 5:08Speaker 2: And they show funny videos. And it's like, okay, they're
- 5:12Speaker 2: funny for about four or five minutes.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Yeah, like the Chive TV. Correct.
- 5:17Speaker 2: I find myself watching, it's like 30 minutes have gone by.
- 5:22Speaker 2: It's like, what are you doing, Bennett? Turn this off
- 5:24Speaker 2: right now.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I am into the fights. It's really funny when that
- 5:28Speaker 1: channel's on and there's a kid around. Yeah. Because you'll
- 5:31Speaker 1: just look over at the kid and they'll just be enamored,
- 5:34Speaker 1: mouth agape, just staring at the TV. Like, what am
- 5:37Speaker 1: I watching? This is awesome.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Well, I just, I have to say, I enjoy that
- 5:42Speaker 2: kind of stuff, and it would be a problem with me.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Social media, you can see, I can see.
- 5:48Speaker 1: How addicting it becomes. I mean, completely. Oh, yeah.
- 5:52Speaker 2: So, and I got to figure a way to stop it.
- 5:55Speaker 1: I was thinking the exact same thing earlier this week.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I even told the roommate, I was like, man, I
- 5:59Speaker 1: wish I could just set my phone down and not
- 6:02Speaker 1: worry about it for like six hours. Yeah. But then
- 6:05Speaker 1: I'll get back to it and I'll be so stressed
- 6:07Speaker 1: out because there'll be like two missed calls and five
- 6:10Speaker 1: texts I got to respond to. No. I hate the
- 6:13Speaker 1: way the world is now with technology. You're right.
- 6:16Speaker 2: And my problem is as soon as I get a text,
- 6:19Speaker 2: it doesn't matter what I'm doing. I got to go
- 6:20Speaker 2: look at it. As soon as the call's coming in,
- 6:22Speaker 2: I got to go look at it. We are addicted
- 6:25Speaker 2: to our phones.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Well, you saw where Apple released their new
- 6:28Speaker 1: phones that are coming out. They have a folding one now. Oh,
- 6:32Speaker 1: hell yeah. So we're going backwards? What do you mean backwards? Like,
- 6:36Speaker 1: is it going to be like a flip phone? No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Not a flip phone. In other words, you take half
- 6:44Speaker 2: the screen you have now and then you double it
- 6:49Speaker 2: and then you can close it and it looks like
- 6:52Speaker 2: half the screen again.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I think that's a, I think Android has done something. Correct. Yes.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I believe it's Samsung that has one right now. Yeah.
- 7:01Speaker 1: It's a folding phone. I loved it. I'm going to
- 7:06Speaker 1: have to get one. I did. I liked my flip
- 7:09Speaker 1: phone back in the day. Oh, did you really? Yeah.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I mean, it took forever to send a text, but
- 7:14Speaker 1: I liked it. Yeah. It was too much down. I
- 7:16Speaker 1: never had a BlackBerry. Me neither.
- 7:18Speaker 2: I had a bag phone. So, in other words, remember
- 7:21Speaker 2: the old car phones that you had that you had
- 7:24Speaker 2: mounted in the car? Well, I had one that was actually,
- 7:27Speaker 2: it looked like a briefcase. And I carried it around.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 7:32Speaker 2: And so as soon as I would go out and
- 7:35Speaker 2: take a doctor or a customer out in the golf course,
- 7:37Speaker 2: I'd take my bag phone.
- 7:39Speaker 1: We'd have a phone. Oh, my page is going off.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Got to make a phone call.
- 7:42Speaker 2: And we would make phone calls on this ridiculous, gigantic
- 7:45Speaker 2: phone out in the golf course.
- 7:46Speaker 1: My dad used to have, you remember the net? I
- 7:50Speaker 1: was going to say Netflix. What's the next tale? You
- 7:52Speaker 1: remember those huge ones they had that were like walkie-talkies?
- 7:55Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Loved them. You could just push the button and talk. Oh, yeah.
- 7:59Speaker 1: That's what my dad had.
- 7:59Speaker 3: It was fun.
- 7:59Speaker 1: I think that was a Nokia. It might have been. Yeah. No,
- 8:03Speaker 1: it was definitely Next. It was Next. Okay. But, yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I mean, technology. We thought we were so advanced on technology. Ooh.
- 8:12Speaker 2: I can take my phone from my car mounted and
- 8:14Speaker 2: then take it with me and open it up and
- 8:16Speaker 2: I can make phone calls.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Pretty cool. Oh, yeah. Now you can connect it to
- 8:22Speaker 1: your phone.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Car yeah absolutely i do love carplay yeah carplay is
- 8:28Speaker 2: my favorite.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I literally could not talk on the phone while i'm
- 8:33Speaker 1: driving if my car was not hooked up to my
- 8:36Speaker 1: phone that makes it so freaking easy.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Well think about we've got everything connected to it our
- 8:42Speaker 2: music our maps our I.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Don't really use music from my phone, though. Oh, you don't?
- 8:48Speaker 1: More times than not, I don't. What are you listening to?
- 8:51Speaker 1: I'm a big radio guy, but if I'm not listening
- 8:54Speaker 1: to the radio, it's typically a podcast of some sort. Okay. Well,
- 9:00Speaker 1: how are you getting your podcast, though? Like last night,
- 9:02Speaker 1: for instance, when I was coming home, I was like, well,
- 9:04Speaker 1: let me fire up the beginning of the Rutherford podcast,
- 9:07Speaker 1: see what they talked about. Right. So I just fired
- 9:10Speaker 1: it up on Twitter. Yeah, but you were using your phone,
- 9:13Speaker 1: weren't you? I was. Okay, so you used your phone
- 9:15Speaker 1: for that. But I never use my phone for music.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I do. Rarely. And now if I go on like a,
- 9:20Speaker 1: if I'm on a long road trip, then yeah, I'll
- 9:23Speaker 1: fire it up. I'll start one of my playlists or something.
- 9:26Speaker 1: But yeah, other than that, no. Now, how do I
- 9:28Speaker 1: get new music? There's a little thing on my phone.
- 9:32Speaker 1: That has Michael Bennett's radio station and music that they
- 9:36Speaker 1: come up with that they think I'll like.
- 9:37Speaker 2: And it's a good portion. It's like, why does it
- 9:40Speaker 2: keep coming up? There's a song.
- 9:42Speaker 1: It's a country music song. It's a singer.
- 9:44Speaker 2: I don't remember the guy's name. But they keep trying
- 9:47Speaker 2: to push him on me. And I don't get it
- 9:50Speaker 2: because I don't like any of his music.
- 9:52Speaker 1: You can't think of who it is? um um church
- 9:58Speaker 1: oh you what how do you not like any of
- 10:00Speaker 1: his music eric church.
- 10:02Speaker 2: That's it yes i don't like any of it how
- 10:05Speaker 2: eric church is awesome is he really yeah yeah he's
- 10:08Speaker 2: the only thing i remember is he's wearing sunglasses it's
- 10:10Speaker 2: like can't you take a picture without sunglasses.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Because he's cool well okay.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Wearing sunglasses inside or anything like that. Instantly makes you cool.
- 10:20Speaker 1: No, it doesn't.
- 10:21Speaker 2: It makes you look ridiculous. That's an irritant to me.
- 10:24Speaker 2: You talk about things that really bug me. Wearing sunglasses
- 10:27Speaker 2: and wearing a hat indoors irritates me.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Oh, sorry. Yeah. Just telling you. I'm doing one of
- 10:32Speaker 1: two right now. I know you are. You're wearing a hat.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Let's go get my sunglasses and you can wear the sunglasses, okay?
- 10:36Speaker 1: I'll grab mine out of my car during the break.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Go ahead and do it.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Wear your sunglasses. Thank goodness I can't see you, but
- 10:40Speaker 2: everybody else on YouTube can. So 502-384-1450, you want to
- 10:45Speaker 2: call in. 502-414-1450, you want to text in on the
- 10:49Speaker 2: Whiskey Thief text line, or you can tweet me at JustCatRadio. Plus,
- 10:52Speaker 2: you can watch us on YouTube. Justin is watching me backwards.
- 10:56Speaker 2: You can look at Big X Sports Radio. I wish
- 10:59Speaker 2: I could see it. Big X Sports Radio Louisville, and
- 11:02Speaker 2: you'll see our ridiculous faces here. But anyway, yesterday, or
- 11:08Speaker 2: I should say last night, Will Stein had his first
- 11:10Speaker 2: radio show.
- 11:11Speaker 1: First one? He didn't do one last week?
- 11:13Speaker 2: No, he'd do it. No, it was last night. Last
- 11:16Speaker 2: night was the first one. And Wednesday night is the
- 11:19Speaker 2: night they're going to do it. You know, I'm so
- 11:20Speaker 2: accustomed to the radio shows being on a Monday night,
- 11:23Speaker 2: unless there's basketball or something else is in the way.
- 11:26Speaker 2: And it's just like, okay, Wednesday night's kind of a
- 11:29Speaker 2: weird night.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Agreed.
- 11:31Speaker 2: But maybe it's just because I'm accustomed to habit and
- 11:36Speaker 2: I don't like change. majority of the time i don't
- 11:39Speaker 2: like change i would say probably 80 of the time
- 11:42Speaker 2: i do not like change i'm with you are you
- 11:45Speaker 2: really okay but i will just have to get used
- 11:47Speaker 2: to this one of the things he did talk about
- 11:49Speaker 2: though uh oklahoma running back transfer giovante barnes is set
- 11:54Speaker 2: to play on saturday.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I love exactly it's exactly i mean i don't know
- 11:59Speaker 1: that you need him but that's good news Why wouldn't
- 12:02Speaker 1: we need him? Of course we need him. I mean,
- 12:04Speaker 1: with the way C.J. Baxter looked. Well, C.J.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Baxter looked great, but this is supposed to be the
- 12:08Speaker 2: starting running back for a U.K., Javante Barnes.
- 12:12Speaker 1: So you all got a transfer portal running back from
- 12:15Speaker 1: Oklahoma and Texas? Yeah. Isn't that crazy? That's insane.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Isn't that crazy? And you look at this like, wow,
- 12:22Speaker 2: how did that happen? And Will Stein did it. I mean,
- 12:26Speaker 2: not just Will Stein, and I think he would give
- 12:28Speaker 2: credit to his assistant coaches, but you're right. I mean,
- 12:31Speaker 2: I still, it's mind-boggling to me when somebody says that,
- 12:37Speaker 2: even more so, because I've been thinking it. Now that
- 12:40Speaker 2: you just said it, it does kind of blow your mind,
- 12:42Speaker 2: doesn't it? It's like they came to Kentucky from Oklahoma
- 12:46Speaker 2: and Texas. And, of course, you look at Kenny Minchey,
- 12:49Speaker 2: came from Notre Dame.
- 12:50Speaker 1: This is like.
- 12:52Speaker 2: You look at Colton Price, Baylor. It's just like, where.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Does it stop?
- 12:57Speaker 2: I mean, I wish we could have Colton another year.
- 13:01Speaker 2: That's the only part I hate.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Have you watched the story about him and his brother yet?
- 13:08Speaker 1: I haven't. Did you watch it? No, I can't bring
- 13:11Speaker 1: myself to do it. Why? Because I just... You think
- 13:14Speaker 1: it's going to be really sad? I know how sad
- 13:16Speaker 1: it's going to be. Yeah, but I'm sure Tyler did
- 13:18Speaker 1: a great job with it. I'm sure it's well done.
- 13:21Speaker 1: I think Peek is probably the one that produced it. Oh, really?
- 13:23Speaker 1: Steven Peek did? Yeah, he does a good majority of
- 13:26Speaker 1: their video stuff. So I imagine he's the one that
- 13:28Speaker 1: put it together. So I know it's going to be
- 13:30Speaker 1: well done. But yeah, I haven't been able to prepare
- 13:33Speaker 1: myself to cry for it. You got to get prepared
- 13:37Speaker 1: to cry, is what you're telling me. Well, you know
- 13:39Speaker 1: Steven Peake is coming on tomorrow with us. That's what
- 13:41Speaker 1: you said.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:42Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to it. The whole two hours? I
- 13:44Speaker 1: hope so. Honestly, I hope.
- 13:46Speaker 2: You know, it's funny. Nick Roush, it's derby time. He
- 13:50Speaker 2: came on last time with us. He said, Michael, I
- 13:52Speaker 2: don't know how long I can last, but I'm going
- 13:54Speaker 2: to come for a little bit.
- 13:54Speaker 1: I'll be here for one second. Exactly. That's what he said. Exactly.
- 13:57Speaker 1: He said, I'm coming on for one second. Then he
- 13:58Speaker 1: stays the entire show. That's Roush on the backside for you.
- 14:02Speaker 2: TJ Walker. said, I can come over for a little bit.
- 14:05Speaker 2: And then he stays the entire show. I think they
- 14:08Speaker 2: find out they kind of like hanging out with me
- 14:10Speaker 2: a little bit. Is that me bragging a little too much?
- 14:13Speaker 1: Maybe a little too much. Yeah, yeah.
- 14:15Speaker 2: But I love having them on. I'm hoping the same
- 14:19Speaker 2: thing's going to happen with Steven Peek. So he goes
- 14:23Speaker 2: by Steve or Steven?
- 14:24Speaker 1: Steven. Steven.
- 14:25Speaker 2: I like that because, you know, Michael, Steven, and Justin,
- 14:29Speaker 2: we're all going by our formal names.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Can you shorten Justin? Just? Sure you can. Just. Yeah,
- 14:36Speaker 1: you can say just. I ain't never heard anybody with
- 14:38Speaker 1: the name Justin called Just. Many times.
- 14:40Speaker 2: I've got a really close friend that lives far away.
- 14:43Speaker 1: His name is Just. Yeah, right. I don't. But I'll
- 14:47Speaker 1: call you Just if you want me to. I did
- 14:49Speaker 1: have a friend in college. A lady friend. She wasn't
- 14:52Speaker 1: a girl friend. Oh, a lady friend. You cannot be
- 14:55Speaker 1: friends with a lady, but go ahead. Yeah, right. I've
- 14:57Speaker 1: been friends with girls my whole life. Yeah. But she
- 14:59Speaker 1: would call me Justy. Really? I guess that's a way
- 15:02Speaker 1: to shorten it. That's kind of a... But there is
- 15:05Speaker 1: no short name for Justin. No, there's not. There really isn't.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Where does Dusty come from? Dustin. Oh, yeah. So, Justy. Dusty.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Is that... Yeah. I'm just curious because, you know, with Mike... Michael,
- 15:19Speaker 1: you got Mike, Mikey... Is that it? I think so. Steven,
- 15:24Speaker 1: you got Steve. I don't know. Justin, you don't. There
- 15:27Speaker 1: aren't many first names out there that don't have. A
- 15:30Speaker 1: way to shorten. A nickname.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Yeah. You're right. Christian is Chris or Christopher is Chris. Christy.
- 15:38Speaker 1: I mean, you're right. There's any name you think. Richard.
- 15:41Speaker 1: I guess like a John. Yeah. You can't shorten John. Although,
- 15:45Speaker 1: unless your name is. It's probably Jonathan. That's a good
- 15:47Speaker 1: way to say it. Unless you're Jonathan. So there goes that. Yeah.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Never mind. Brayden, is there one for Brayden? Brady? Bray? Bray? Yeah,
- 15:57Speaker 1: Bray Bray. I don't know. This is ridiculous. It is
- 16:01Speaker 1: weird that I have a name that is one of
- 16:03Speaker 1: the very few it feels like you could shorten. To me,
- 16:06Speaker 1: the shortened version of it would be Scoots. So there
- 16:08Speaker 1: you go. I don't know.
- 16:10Speaker 2: I'll take it. No offense to you. I know you
- 16:13Speaker 2: don't care either way. I've never liked the name Scoots.
- 16:16Speaker 2: I like calling you Justin.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Here's the deal with Scoots. You would appreciate the name
- 16:22Speaker 1: more if you were around when all that happened. Really?
- 16:26Speaker 1: Because you know what my nickname was before Scoots? I
- 16:29Speaker 1: have no idea. So it was Hoosier Dingus because I
- 16:33Speaker 1: was a producer for Kentucky Roll Call at the time.
- 16:36Speaker 2: So that's where Scooter Dingus comes from.
- 16:39Speaker 1: So I was Hoosier Dingus. Went up to Indy with
- 16:42Speaker 1: some of my buddies for a getaway. One of my
- 16:47Speaker 1: buddies was getting ready to have his first kid. So
- 16:48Speaker 1: we went up there and just had a weekend. And
- 16:50Speaker 1: I was hammered and wrecked one of those scooters, one
- 16:52Speaker 1: of those lime scooters. Yeah. And so when I came back,
- 16:55Speaker 1: I couldn't use my arm. And they changed from Hoosier
- 16:58Speaker 1: Dingus to Scooter Dingus. That evolved to Scooter, Scoots. So, yeah,
- 17:02Speaker 1: that's where all that came from. Where does Dingus come from, though?
- 17:06Speaker 1: I don't know. That's just something that was thrown in there.
- 17:08Speaker 1: That just doesn't sound real complimentary. Well, I mean, because
- 17:10Speaker 1: I had some wild takes back when I first started
- 17:13Speaker 1: on Kentucky Roll Call. I would say some pretty ridiculous
- 17:15Speaker 1: things from time to time. And I guess nothing's changed, really.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:20Speaker 1: I can tell you right now, somebody had some strong
- 17:22Speaker 1: cologne yesterday. Really? Man, this microphone smells so strong. It's
- 17:27Speaker 1: almost giving me a headache. Normally, that's you. No, this
- 17:31Speaker 1: is not my cologne. Yeah, I don't have cologne on today.
- 17:35Speaker 1: That's rare.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Yeah, it is, but I do wear it. I don't
- 17:39Speaker 2: wear cologne all the time, though. Is that a thing
- 17:42Speaker 2: going into the past, by the way, cologne?
- 17:44Speaker 1: No. You don't think so? Not for me. Yeah, I
- 17:47Speaker 1: like it. It may be overall, but I will... Always
- 17:49Speaker 1: work alone. You do? Yeah. Okay, good. All right, we
- 17:52Speaker 1: got to take our first break. How do you like that? 502-384-1450.
- 17:54Speaker 2: You want to call in? We're going to talk more
- 17:59Speaker 2: about Will Stein and his first radio show from last
- 18:04Speaker 2: night because he said a few things that I really,
- 18:07Speaker 2: I don't know if I like or dislike, but it's him,
- 18:10Speaker 2: and I like that. So you can text me at
- 18:13Speaker 2: 502-414-1450 on the Whiskey Thief text line, which we got
- 18:17Speaker 2: a few already, and I look forward to talking about
- 18:19Speaker 2: those as well. So lots to talk about today. That's
- 18:22Speaker 2: one thing you can't stand that I say.
- 18:24Speaker 1: There you go. Because I say that too much. That's true. Okay.
- 18:27Speaker 1: With this juncture. But anyway, we'll be right back. Just
- 18:31Speaker 1: a cat.
- 18:37Speaker 4: The Queen of Rock and Roll Where did my little
- 18:41Speaker 4: party and wild cat go?
- 18:44Speaker 1: She's laying on the.
- 18:46Speaker 4: Couch watching Netflix at night She just keeps saying, honey,
- 18:52Speaker 4: ain't it nice? Lately, baby's been talking about babies.
- 18:58Speaker 3: Ain't no ifs, no buts, no.
- 19:16Speaker 3: I grew up in the 90s those classic country songs
- 19:24Speaker 3: from the dance of chattahoochee man you can't go.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Wrong they played on daddy's kenwood and mama's kitchen radio.
- 19:38Speaker 1: You know, it's good that you're playing J.D.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Today.
- 19:40Speaker 1: You know why? I do know. I just told you.
- 19:43Speaker 1: I know you know why. It's his birthday.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Happy birthday, JD exactly happy birthday JD Shelburne so yeah
- 19:50Speaker 2: I I'm glad this is perfect I'm glad we're celebrating
- 19:53Speaker 2: JD uh because the fact that that's the case I
- 19:56Speaker 2: have no idea how old he is I would.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Say 41 maybe really.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Yeah, you might be right. Yeah, I would say he's
- 20:09Speaker 2: in his 40s. I don't know.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Definitely early 40s. Really?
- 20:14Speaker 2: I was trying to see if I could look it
- 20:17Speaker 2: up real quick, but it's taking way too long. So
- 20:20Speaker 2: I won't be able to look at that. But let's see.
- 20:23Speaker 2: All right, standby.
- 20:25Speaker 1: He is 44. Oh, my gosh. Is he really? He's
- 20:29Speaker 1: older than I thought. Same. Wow. Doesn't look a day
- 20:32Speaker 1: over 30. He really doesn't. And, you know. He's evolved
- 20:37Speaker 1: as far as with the hair. Oh, yeah. Absolutely.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Some of the pictures you've shown me, and then I
- 20:44Speaker 2: look at the albums like, wow, that's quite some hair
- 20:47Speaker 2: that he's had in the past.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Yeah, JD now definitely much better hair than JD when
- 20:52Speaker 1: he first started. Yes, yeah. Not that it was bad hair.
- 20:57Speaker 1: I'm just not a fan of the long hair. No.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Some people look really good with long hair. Some people
- 21:05Speaker 2: do not. I think I would look absolutely ridiculous.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Have you ever grown it out? Me? No. Never? Never.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Not even like back when you were younger? Nope. Nope. Never.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Not even. No.
- 21:18Speaker 2: And, you know, I told my mom I wanted to
- 21:20Speaker 2: grow my hair like Rod Stewart and have these spikes
- 21:22Speaker 2: and all. She's like, no, we're not doing that, Michael
- 21:24Speaker 2: Todd Bennett. And as soon as she said the Todd,
- 21:27Speaker 2: it's like, okay, yeah, I know that's not happening. But no,
- 21:30Speaker 2: did you grow your hair out? My senior year of
- 21:32Speaker 2: high school, I did.
- 21:33Speaker 1: How far? It was, it wasn't too long. I'll have
- 21:38Speaker 1: to show you a picture, but it was probably to the,
- 21:42Speaker 1: I don't know, not even my shoulders. It wasn't even
- 21:45Speaker 1: that long. I just, my thing was all the good
- 21:47Speaker 1: cross country runners had long hair. Oh, you felt the
- 21:51Speaker 1: pressure of cross country pressure. My thinking was, well, if
- 21:54Speaker 1: I grow my hair out, maybe it'll make me faster.
- 21:56Speaker 1: And then lo and behold, ran my fastest time ever.
- 21:59Speaker 1: My senior year. Did you really? With long hair? My
- 22:01Speaker 1: last race ever. I broke 20 minutes. Did you put
- 22:05Speaker 1: it back in a ponytail? No, it wasn't that long. Actually,
- 22:08Speaker 1: you know what? It was that long because I remember
- 22:11Speaker 1: our first football game. Yeah. I had my hair and
- 22:14Speaker 1: all these little purple and gold ponytails on top of
- 22:17Speaker 1: my head. Oh, my gosh. Okay. It worked. Really? Remember
- 22:23Speaker 1: that show that they did on LKY, the Friday Night Blitz? Yeah,
- 22:26Speaker 1: oh yeah. I was the one that introduced it that Friday. Really?
- 22:31Speaker 1: The WLKY person came up to me and they were like, hey,
- 22:33Speaker 1: you want to introduce Friday Night Blitz? And I was like,
- 22:36Speaker 1: hell yeah, I want to introduce Friday Night Blitz.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Who was the sportscaster, the anchor sportscaster back then?
- 22:43Speaker 1: I guess it. Maybe it was Fred Calgill. See, I
- 22:46Speaker 1: loved him, but I don't think he was the one
- 22:48Speaker 1: actually there. Yeah. Filming though.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Uh, by the way, uh, somebody posted a picture. I, uh,
- 22:55Speaker 2: I don't remember who it might've been for Fred Calgill
- 22:57Speaker 2: or somebody else, uh, a former sportscaster here in town
- 23:01Speaker 2: for wave three named Bob Domini. Do you remember Bob
- 23:04Speaker 2: Domini at all? I don't remember Bob. He evidently just
- 23:08Speaker 2: had a stroke recently. He's eating rehab. And, uh, Made
- 23:11Speaker 2: me sad. I always loved Bob Domini. Fred Calgill was
- 23:15Speaker 2: probably one of my favorites.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Because, you know, he always did the little special wave
- 23:19Speaker 2: to his little girl. And I don't know.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Fred is literally the reason I'm in sports today. Really?
- 23:25Speaker 3: 100%.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Okay. I loved that. John Wong has long hair. Or
- 23:30Speaker 1: he did. John Wong long? Exactly.
- 23:33Speaker 2: It was John Wong Long. And he put it back
- 23:35Speaker 2: in a ponytail. Then he cut it off and I
- 23:37Speaker 2: didn't like it.
- 23:38Speaker 1: I could actually see him with long hair and a ponytail.
- 23:42Speaker 2: People, some people, Don Henley of the Eagles, he can
- 23:46Speaker 2: rock long hair and looks really good with long hair.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Back in the, what was it, 80s, 90s, he had
- 23:51Speaker 2: a ponytail. Some guys just look okay with it.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I agree.
- 23:55Speaker 2: So I think I would look the dumbest ever with
- 23:57Speaker 2: long hair. One person, let's see here, 48 Hanley texted in,
- 24:01Speaker 2: John Fitzgerald Kennedy was called Jack. See, I don't understand.
- 24:08Speaker 2: So President Kennedy, his name is John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Where the hell's Jack come from? Where does Jack come from? Exactly.
- 24:16Speaker 1: I do not understand that one. I don't get that either.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Where does Dusty come from? Is that the formal name?
- 24:24Speaker 1: It is Dustin. That's right. Yeah. So you should be Justy.
- 24:28Speaker 1: I was in college. Yeah. You should be called Justy.
- 24:32Speaker 1: I kind of like that. Steve. Let me see if
- 24:37Speaker 1: I can say this name. Steve Prefontaine. Nailed it. Just about.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Did I really? Prefontaine, yeah. Sported that long hair look.
- 24:44Speaker 1: He was fast. He was fast. Who is he? He
- 24:47Speaker 1: was a runner. Okay.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Well, there's a number of football players that have long hair,
- 24:54Speaker 2: especially running backs.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:55Speaker 2: There's a couple out there. One played for the Rams.
- 24:58Speaker 2: I can't think of his name. Then there was another
- 25:00Speaker 2: one played for the Patriots. And they look good with it.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Anyway. Nobody looked better in terms of football players with
- 25:09Speaker 1: long hair than Larry Fitzgerald. See, I agree with you.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Larry Fitzgerald looked good with long hair. He rocked it. Yeah.
- 25:17Speaker 1: But it always looks so heavy. It does. And how
- 25:20Speaker 1: do you wear a helmet? I don't know if their
- 25:23Speaker 1: insides of their helmets have to be bigger or not.
- 25:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah.
- 25:27Speaker 2: One person said, most people don't know my given first name.
- 25:31Speaker 2: My wife made sure we could say Buzz in our
- 25:35Speaker 2: wedding ceremony. I still had no sign the marriage certificate
- 25:40Speaker 2: with my given name.
- 25:41Speaker 4: Buzz?
- 25:42Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh. Can I just say, Buzz, how much
- 25:45Speaker 1: I appreciate you not actually using your real name in
- 25:49Speaker 1: this text. Do you know his real name? I don't,
- 25:52Speaker 1: and I don't want to.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Why?
- 25:53Speaker 1: Because that ruins him for me. Does it really? Like, so,
- 25:57Speaker 1: for instance, John and Tony, they got all these buddies,
- 26:00Speaker 1: and they all have nicknames. Chopper, Slugger, they all have
- 26:04Speaker 1: a nickname. When I learn their buddies' actual names, it
- 26:09Speaker 1: ruins it for me. Oh, does it really? And same thing.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Are you familiar with Wildcat's Tongue on Twitter?
- 26:14Speaker 3: No.
- 26:14Speaker 1: So he's part of the Repton No Good clan. Okay.
- 26:18Speaker 1: What's Repton No Good? It's a Kentucky podcast.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 26:21Speaker 1: They put a show out like once every week, every
- 26:23Speaker 1: two weeks, whatever it is. Right. But he came in.
- 26:26Speaker 1: I've always known him as Wildcat's Tongue. Always talked to
- 26:28Speaker 1: him as Wildcat's Tongue. But he came into the studio
- 26:31Speaker 1: earlier this year. And he comes in and he shakes
- 26:34Speaker 1: my hand and he tells me his real name. And
- 26:36Speaker 1: I'm like, no. Oh, really? I was like, you ruined it.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I don't want to know your real name. I want
- 26:41Speaker 1: to know you as Wildcat Tom. Oh, my gosh. Yeah.
- 26:44Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't think I.
- 26:46Speaker 2: See, I know when people either have known me all
- 26:50Speaker 2: my life or they don't know who I am by saying, hey, Mike.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Because one of my closest friends is Walter Hurd. And
- 27:01Speaker 2: we don't have nicknames. Although Walter, when he was a kid,
- 27:04Speaker 2: he was called Wally. But I always called him Walter.
- 27:08Speaker 2: My other best friend was Randy Yaw. And I would
- 27:11Speaker 2: call him Randy. Well, it was Randy because he goes by...
- 27:16Speaker 2: Randall is his given name. So I guess.
- 27:19Speaker 1: But we didn't really have nicknames growing up. Just.
- 27:23Speaker 2: One guy, his last name was Sexton, Jeff Sexton. And
- 27:27Speaker 2: I still to this day call him Sex. People look
- 27:30Speaker 2: at me when I start yelling his name. It's like,
- 27:33Speaker 2: I got to watch where I yell that. Because I know.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Come here, Sex. Exactly.
- 27:40Speaker 2: You got to be careful with that one. And, uh, but, uh,
- 27:45Speaker 2: you know, cause you know, mine was Battleship Bennett when
- 27:47Speaker 2: I was.
- 27:47Speaker 1: A little kid. That's right. Yeah. Now it's Butter Bennett.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Butter Bennett. No, it's not.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Well, don't get me started on that butter over there
- 27:53Speaker 2: at that restaurant, man. I tell you what, that's, you're
- 27:57Speaker 2: just going to get kill me with that one. Um,
- 27:59Speaker 2: Michelle texted out, um, let me see. Let me get
- 28:04Speaker 2: the right one.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Where are we here? Oh my goodness. Uh, no sound
- 28:08Speaker 1: on YouTube. And then got sound back. And then got
- 28:11Speaker 1: sound back. Okay. That's weird. It's been on the whole time.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Did you fix it? Yeah, no, it wasn't ever on.
- 28:15Speaker 1: You didn't do anything. No.
- 28:17Speaker 2: One person said, what's the post time for your baby tomorrow, Michael?
- 28:21Speaker 2: Seventh race, 350. Three, five, zero. Are you excited? Yeah,
- 28:26Speaker 2: I'm getting real excited. That's what kind of reason I
- 28:28Speaker 2: went out to the Churchill Downs this morning at five o'clock.
- 28:31Speaker 1: So I got up at four. It's like, do I
- 28:33Speaker 1: really want to get up? And it's like, yeah, I do.
- 28:35Speaker 1: And I am.
- 28:37Speaker 2: I'm excited. I actually did a race recap. Not a recap,
- 28:43Speaker 2: but a race description. And I went through every single horse.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Who has the best chance? Who doesn't? Would you like
- 28:52Speaker 1: me to share it with you? Yeah. For your specific race? Yeah.
- 28:56Speaker 2: For race seven with my Cosmic Creed. Her name is
- 28:59Speaker 2: Cosmic Creed. She's by Jimmy Creed. And out of Moon
- 29:04Speaker 2: and Stars. But, yeah, she's a two-year-old going for $ 120, 000 tomorrow.
- 29:10Speaker 2: There's actually 16 horses in it, but there's only going
- 29:14Speaker 2: to be 12. So if somebody scratches, then those backups
- 29:18Speaker 2: will come into the race. So it's a 12-horse race
- 29:20Speaker 2: for $ 120, 000. Two-year-old maiden. And so it's the seventh race tomorrow.
- 29:25Speaker 2: As soon as the show's over, I'm running out to
- 29:27Speaker 2: Churchill Downs because I'm going to video her getting schooled.
- 29:31Speaker 1: In the paddock. Driving might be faster. Okay, yeah.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Well, I mean, Jamie, if you'll come over to the
- 29:36Speaker 2: radio station and escort me, that'll be safer.
- 29:39Speaker 1: I'd appreciate that.
- 29:41Speaker 2: But yeah, I'm going to go over there and video it.
- 29:43Speaker 2: I don't know how much you want to see, but
- 29:45Speaker 2: I might tweet it out or something and let everybody
- 29:47Speaker 2: see that. If you want to see my race description,
- 29:50Speaker 2: I'll be glad to share it on Twitter.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Can I do that? I think so.
- 29:54Speaker 2: How can I do it? Just take a picture of it?
- 29:56Speaker 2: Because it's a.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Few pages long. Yeah.
- 30:01Speaker 2: I mean, you could put the link up. I worked
- 30:04Speaker 2: hard on it, by the way. Yeah, it's a PDF.
- 30:07Speaker 2: So I don't know how do you share. Can you
- 30:09Speaker 2: share a PDF on Twitter or not?
- 30:11Speaker 1: Great question. I've never done that before. So she walked
- 30:16Speaker 1: the shed this morning. I don't know.
- 30:18Speaker 2: I have no idea what she did this morning. But anyway,
- 30:22Speaker 2: Adele Romans is taking care of it, and he's the
- 30:25Speaker 2: number one guy in charge. So I'm looking forward to that.
- 30:28Speaker 2: One person said, just head to Hikes and Bardstown Road
- 30:31Speaker 2: and you all can see the action you want.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Can you really?
- 30:35Speaker 2: If you go to Hikes Lane and Bardstown Road, there'll
- 30:38Speaker 2: be lots of street fights there.
- 30:40Speaker 1: I didn't know that. I mean, did that come from Jamie? Yeah.
- 30:44Speaker 1: I'm assuming it did. Yeah. He would know. Exactly.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Is that your post right over there, Jamie? That's what
- 30:51Speaker 2: I'd like to know. The bag mobile phones were crazy.
- 30:54Speaker 2: That and the Zack Morris big brick phone.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Yeah. We used to joke we had the general here
- 31:02Speaker 1: calling in the airstrikes. Zach Morris prick phone. That's a
- 31:06Speaker 1: good callback. What's that? Who's Zach Morris? From Saved by
- 31:09Speaker 1: the Bell. Oh, yes. Okay. Preppy.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Every time Michael says juncture, I just picture Dana Carvey
- 31:16Speaker 2: doing the.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Hold on. Doing the Bush impression. Not going to do it.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Wouldn't be prudent at this juncture. That is true.
- 31:27Speaker 2: And here's one of the funniest things. I don't know
- 31:30Speaker 2: if you ever saw it. This is the part of
- 31:31Speaker 2: when I loved politics. when you can actually laugh at
- 31:36Speaker 2: yourself and president Bush, Bush 41, who, you know, I
- 31:39Speaker 2: was talking about Randy y'all, my buddy, I grew up with, uh,
- 31:43Speaker 2: he was the, uh, head secret service man in charge
- 31:47Speaker 2: of president Bush 41.
- 31:49Speaker 1: For many years.
- 31:51Speaker 2: He became very close with the bushes and, uh, He
- 31:55Speaker 2: had a great sense of humor. President Bush did. And
- 31:58Speaker 2: I love if you can go back and watch it.
- 32:00Speaker 2: He he thought Dana Carvey was so funny before he
- 32:05Speaker 2: ended his presidency. He invited Dana Carvey to come spend
- 32:08Speaker 2: the night at the White House. Isn't that the coolest thing?
- 32:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:12Speaker 2: So you invite somebody that's been making fun of you
- 32:15Speaker 2: to the White House and you have fun with it.
- 32:18Speaker 2: And then, of course, I don't know if you've ever
- 32:19Speaker 2: seen the video of President Bush on SNL, and he
- 32:23Speaker 2: starts saying everything that Dana Carvey, all the, it wouldn't
- 32:27Speaker 2: be prudent, not at this juncture. And it's just like, oh, man,
- 32:31Speaker 2: that was so funny to see the president actually making
- 32:34Speaker 2: fun of himself.
- 32:35Speaker 1: And I love that. I miss those.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Bush 43 did the same thing. So they used to
- 32:42Speaker 2: have those foreign press dinners and they would show it on,
- 32:48Speaker 2: I think it was PBS or something. And Bush 43
- 32:52Speaker 2: invited this guy that impersonated him to do the speech
- 32:56Speaker 2: alongside of him. And it was hilarious to watch that.
- 33:01Speaker 2: And the guy next to him would make fun of
- 33:04Speaker 2: him as soon as President Bush would make a statement.
- 33:06Speaker 2: The other President Bush, the impersonator. would just completely make
- 33:11Speaker 2: fun of him the entire time. And I thought that
- 33:13Speaker 2: was funny. I love that kind of stuff.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Pretty good. Yeah.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Michael, just hop in the back, and I'll drive you over. Sadly,
- 33:20Speaker 2: my Uber reviews aren't that great for some reason. That's
- 33:24Speaker 2: coming from Jamie talking about his police car. So, yeah,
- 33:27Speaker 2: there you go.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Yeah. George Herbert Walker. Yes, that is his name.
- 33:35Speaker 4: Who?
- 33:36Speaker 1: President Bush.
- 33:37Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 33:38Speaker 1: George Herbert Walker.
- 33:39Speaker 3: Oh.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:40Speaker 2: And you know the Walker Cup in golf? That's named
- 33:46Speaker 2: after his family. George Herbert Walker.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Didn't know that. Bush. Yeah. He's got four names. No
- 33:52Speaker 1: big deal. Do many people have four names? We got
- 33:56Speaker 1: to talk sports. I'm just getting crazy here. I'm so sorry.
- 34:02Speaker 1: I'm getting so mad over here. All I'm trying to
- 34:04Speaker 1: do is find freaking Churchill Downs odds for tomorrow. 12
- 34:08Speaker 1: to 1. That's what it is? Yeah. I want to
- 34:11Speaker 1: see the rest of it. I'll share it with you.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Just come over here during break, and I'll give you
- 34:16Speaker 1: a whole review. I don't know why I can't find it. Yeah, yeah.
- 34:18Speaker 1: All right. Saratoga makes it so easy. All right.
- 34:21Speaker 2: When we come back, the Big Ten has made a change.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Did you talk about this all.
- 34:26Speaker 1: On your show? I didn't. Okay.
- 34:28Speaker 2: We're going to talk about it. They've made a real change.
- 34:30Speaker 2: and to me it's too little too late, and I
- 34:33Speaker 2: think it's kind of goofy. We'll talk about that as
- 34:34Speaker 2: soon as we get back.
- 34:35Speaker 1: 502-414-1450.
- 34:35Speaker 2: You want to text in on the Whiskey Thief text line,
- 34:39Speaker 2: or you can tweet me at JustTheCatRadio.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Stay there. We're coming back with more Just The Cats.
- 35:18Speaker 3: I liked you in a tractor cab Ponytail hanging out
- 35:21Speaker 3: from the back Tapping them boots to some back and
- 35:24Speaker 3: black Hanging out the window I liked you in that
- 35:29Speaker 3: don't lie dress High heels are rocking that downtown red
- 35:33Speaker 3: If you wonder what side I like the best I'd
- 35:36Speaker 3: have to say I don't know Sunday best to party
- 35:40Speaker 3: jeans Out of bed to Maybelline You're everything in between
- 35:46Speaker 3: Everything in between.
- 35:49Speaker 1: 502-384-1450. You want to call 502-414-1450.
- 35:52Speaker 2: You want to text in or you can tweet me
- 35:56Speaker 2: at justacatradio. One person said, John here.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Hey, Michael.
- 36:00Speaker 2: On the website lineups, you can see their Heisman watch list.
- 36:04Speaker 1: And guess what? Kenny Chesney. I almost said Chesney.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Kenny Minchie is on the bubble list at number 48,
- 36:14Speaker 2: or no, number 46. That website moved him up 23
- 36:20Speaker 2: spots after week one. Also, Kenny Minchie's current odds to
- 36:23Speaker 2: win the 2026 Heisman Trophy range widely from plus 12,500
- 36:27Speaker 2: to 25,000, roughly 125 to one to 250 to one,
- 36:28Speaker 2: depending on the sports book. So go take your $ 5
- 36:37Speaker 2: and turn it into a big stack of cash before
- 36:39Speaker 2: it's too late because by week four, he will be
- 36:42Speaker 2: within the top 10 players and will only keep climbing
- 36:46Speaker 2: after that. Oh, man, he's so high on this quarterback
- 36:50Speaker 2: and this football team.
- 36:51Speaker 1: Here's the deal, John. Yeah. I don't hate this, but
- 36:58Speaker 1: so many times the Heisman Award is dependent on team success.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Which is right or wrong? I think it's right. You do?
- 37:08Speaker 1: I do. I mean, if we're talking about the best
- 37:10Speaker 1: player in the country, you also have to look at
- 37:12Speaker 1: a team that's had a lot of success because of that.
- 37:15Speaker 1: But it's an individual award, though. It is. It's not
- 37:19Speaker 1: a team award. It is. But I just think with Kentucky,
- 37:24Speaker 1: in my opinion, going six and six at best, I
- 37:27Speaker 1: just don't see it happening. So it feels like, to me,
- 37:30Speaker 1: you're just throwing away $ 5. What if he's putting up
- 37:33Speaker 1: crazy numbers? I mean, they have to be real crazy.
- 37:38Speaker 1: I mean, he had a great game on Saturday. 301 yards,
- 37:42Speaker 1: four touchdown passes. But if you want to win Heisman
- 37:46Speaker 1: on a team that is not expected to be a
- 37:49Speaker 1: playoff team, I mean, you've got to average at least 400.
- 37:52Speaker 2: All right, so if Kentucky wins.
- 37:55Speaker 1: which I think it's going to be a fun game.
- 37:57Speaker 1: I really do.
- 37:59Speaker 2: I think it's going to be a lot closer than
- 38:01Speaker 2: a lot of people care for. Now, granted, I know
- 38:04Speaker 2: the spread is 10 and a half, but if Kentucky wins,
- 38:09Speaker 2: is this a tear down the goalpost kind of a game?
- 38:14Speaker 1: I would say so, yeah. Would you really? Yeah, probably, right?
- 38:20Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm asking you. Why wouldn't it be?
- 38:24Speaker 1: I guess would be my question. Why wouldn't it be?
- 38:27Speaker 2: I mean, we've got to get to a point where
- 38:30Speaker 2: we don't tear down goalposts anymore.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Well, yeah, but this is year one under Will Stein.
- 38:34Speaker 1: And if you get that win, that is a massive
- 38:37Speaker 1: win to put you up to 2-0. And that gives
- 38:40Speaker 1: the fans a lot of hope moving forward. Yeah, I
- 38:42Speaker 1: would think it would be. But it's not the same Alabama.
- 38:45Speaker 1: It's not the Nick Saban Alabama. That shouldn't. It should not? Okay.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Because they're not ranked as high as they would have
- 38:51Speaker 2: been with Nick Saban. I mean, they're number 12 in
- 38:53Speaker 2: the country.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Yeah, it's number 12 team in the country. To me.
- 38:57Speaker 1: So think about it like this. As the number 12
- 38:59Speaker 1: team in the country right now, they'd be in the playoffs.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Kentucky beats them. You're keeping them out of the playoffs.
- 39:05Speaker 1: That's fair. All right.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Because I look at it and think, okay, who are
- 39:09Speaker 2: the teams left that UK, if they were able to beat,
- 39:14Speaker 2: are worthy of tearing down the goalpost? It's clearly not
- 39:19Speaker 2: Florida anymore, South Carolina, Missouri, any of those teams. It's
- 39:26Speaker 2: not Tennessee. It's not Vanderbilt.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Georgia.
- 39:30Speaker 2: That's exactly where I was headed. I think the number
- 39:33Speaker 2: one team where clearly it is a tear down the goalposts.
- 39:38Speaker 2: And I would say tear down every goal. I'd tear
- 39:40Speaker 2: down both at Commonwealth Stadium.
- 39:42Speaker 1: And guess what?
- 39:43Speaker 2: I'm taking a mosh crowd all the way over to
- 39:45Speaker 2: the practice facilities and tearing all those down because that
- 39:48Speaker 2: would be a celebration. I think Georgia's the one. And
- 39:53Speaker 2: you're probably right, because Alabama's 12th in the country. And
- 39:58Speaker 2: I like your point that, yeah, they're a playoff team.
- 40:03Speaker 2: So I get it, but they're just not the Alabama old.
- 40:07Speaker 2: So I would probably agree with you. It is a
- 40:10Speaker 2: definite candidate for tearing down the goalposts. Also, I would
- 40:14Speaker 2: throw LSU in on that as well.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Ah, yes, another good one. I mean, they're top ten
- 40:19Speaker 1: right now. Yeah. They're number eight. They're going to win
- 40:22Speaker 1: this week. Then they're at Ole Miss. First Texas A
- 40:25Speaker 1: & M, number nine and number ten in the country.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Then they take on McNeese. So, if they come in 5-0,
- 40:31Speaker 1: they'll be a top five team in the country, I'd imagine. So,
- 40:35Speaker 1: that would definitely be worth tearing them down. Yeah.
- 40:37Speaker 2: And I think the entire country outside of Louisiana would
- 40:41Speaker 2: be rooting for Kentucky.
- 40:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:43Speaker 1: At that point. I think that's going to be the
- 40:44Speaker 1: case all year. See, I agree.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Whoever LSU is playing, the entire country is going to
- 40:50Speaker 2: be rooting for the other team.
- 40:52Speaker 1: I mean, it's the exact same, honestly, probably with Michigan.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Now, Alabama's nose tackle, Terrence Green, is a former Oregon
- 41:02Speaker 2: player who practiced against Will Stein's offense and says to
- 41:08Speaker 2: expect trick plays and a heavy run game. Are you
- 41:14Speaker 2: surprised he would say something like that?
- 41:18Speaker 1: A little bit because now that's, I mean, that's screaming
- 41:21Speaker 1: to Will Stein what not to do. Right. But maybe
- 41:23Speaker 1: that's what his goal is. Maybe he's trying to scare
- 41:25Speaker 1: Will out of doing those things because he knows how
- 41:27Speaker 1: effective they can be. I don't know. I mean, it's
- 41:32Speaker 1: all word warfare. Yeah. I just say nothing. That's why
- 41:35Speaker 1: sports are great. I say nothing.
- 41:38Speaker 2: I don't say we're ready for the trick plays. We're
- 41:41Speaker 2: ready for a heavy run game.
- 41:43Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 41:45Speaker 2: But do you think Will Stein should open the playbook
- 41:49Speaker 2: for this ballgame?
- 41:50Speaker 1: He will. I don't think he should. He will. Yeah.
- 41:54Speaker 2: But do you give everything away in only the second
- 41:56Speaker 2: game of the season, though? That shouldn't matter.
- 42:00Speaker 1: I mean, if it's a good play and you can
- 42:02Speaker 1: execute it, then it doesn't matter if you show it.
- 42:06Speaker 1: All right.
- 42:06Speaker 2: So, Alabama beat East Carolina 48-10 last weekend with their
- 42:11Speaker 2: sophomore quarterback, Keelan Russell.
- 42:14Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 42:15Speaker 2: And the only thing that really worries me is two things.
- 42:21Speaker 2: It's not anything on the offense. I'm really not worried
- 42:24Speaker 2: about anything on the offense. It's can UK secondary handle
- 42:29Speaker 2: Alabama's offense and can the front line at least penetrate
- 42:34Speaker 2: and put a little pressure on this sophomore quarterback, Keelan Russell?
- 42:39Speaker 1: I mean, that's a great question. Defense definitely at this
- 42:42Speaker 1: point in the season, is the main concern at this
- 42:45Speaker 1: juncture but stop it i can't get it out of
- 42:50Speaker 1: my system but now i don't even know what i
- 42:53Speaker 1: was it's okay oh don't do that come on you
- 43:02Speaker 1: can't call me out and just bring it up every
- 43:05Speaker 1: freaking second all.
- 43:07Speaker 2: Right uh will sign did say uh ball security is
- 43:11Speaker 2: going to be the main focus on the offense So,
- 43:14Speaker 2: all right, I'm sorry I messed you up. We were
- 43:17Speaker 2: talking about UK's secondary and UK's defensive line.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Are those two starters coming back? Yeah. The entire team
- 43:25Speaker 1: is healthy and ready to play Alabama. That's good news.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Who are you betting on? Because it doesn't matter if
- 43:32Speaker 2: you're betting on Kentucky or Alabama to win. Who do
- 43:35Speaker 2: you think is the team to bet on to actually
- 43:38Speaker 2: win some money? Because, you know, obviously you can bet
- 43:42Speaker 2: on this team. Uh, even if they lose, will they
- 43:44Speaker 2: cover the spread Alabama?
- 43:47Speaker 1: Me personally, if I was going to attack this game
- 43:50Speaker 1: from a betting angle, I would take that spread down
- 43:54Speaker 1: from 10 and a half to six and a half. Okay.
- 43:58Speaker 1: And I would take that. Oh, you would still with
- 44:00Speaker 1: six and a half. Okay. All right. Fair enough. 10
- 44:03Speaker 1: and a half. Doesn't make me all that comfortable. I do.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Right now, on this Thursday, I think probably Alabama covers
- 44:09Speaker 1: that ten and a half. Do you really? Just to
- 44:11Speaker 1: be safe, I would tease down to six. I don't know.
- 44:13Speaker 1: I think it's going to be a closer game than
- 44:15Speaker 1: everybody's expecting. I mean, it might be. The crowd's going
- 44:18Speaker 1: to be insane. Oh, exactly.
- 44:20Speaker 2: And the fact that, you know, we talked about it yesterday.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Will Stein asking for this to be a historical moment
- 44:26Speaker 2: for it to be the loudest Commonwealth stadium they've ever experienced.
- 44:31Speaker 2: I think the crowd can do it just as long
- 44:33Speaker 2: as UK stays in the game.
- 44:34Speaker 1: Now, I mean, look what Alabama did last time. They
- 44:37Speaker 1: had to face a loud crowd 38 to three. Might
- 44:40Speaker 1: I remind you? Yeah. You're right. I mean, it can
- 44:43Speaker 1: get in their head. No doubt. Yeah. Especially a sophomore quarterback.
- 44:46Speaker 1: Don't you think? And only the second game of his career.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Yep.
- 44:49Speaker 2: So, uh, UK football is expected to host a whole load, uh, uh, of, uh, visiting, uh,
- 44:56Speaker 2: This week, including two big-time four-star Braden Bedford and Cartay Ligon. So,
- 45:07Speaker 2: I mean, big games sell, don't they? That's when you
- 45:10Speaker 2: bring in your big-time recruits. Well, because you want them
- 45:14Speaker 2: to see the best atmosphere possible.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:16Speaker 2: And people don't give the UK enough credit that it
- 45:19Speaker 2: can have a really nice big-time football atmosphere.
- 45:23Speaker 1: So, yeah. Yeah.
- 45:24Speaker 2: You can go look up those two players, Braden Bedford
- 45:27Speaker 2: and Karte. I hope I say his first name correctly, Ligon. But,
- 45:32Speaker 2: I mean, I hope it is a goalpost kind of game.
- 45:38Speaker 1: I do. You say it is. I hope it is.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Got to win first. Yeah.
- 45:44Speaker 2: And it's just like, okay, how much of this game
- 45:47Speaker 2: can I watch? I'm worried about it. I'm worried that
- 45:50Speaker 2: I won't be able to watch 30 seconds because I'll
- 45:52Speaker 2: be too scared. It's like, okay, got to turn it off,
- 45:55Speaker 2: got to walk away. But anyway, all right, stay right there.
- 45:57Speaker 2: Hour two coming right up. We're going to talk a
- 45:59Speaker 2: little bit about the Big Ten as soon as we
- 46:01Speaker 2: get back.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 46:26Speaker 2: So Tom Leach was asking Will Stein last night about
- 46:31Speaker 2: is he going to have a pregame speech. And he
- 46:35Speaker 2: said he's not that kind of a guy before the game.
- 46:38Speaker 2: And I was kind of surprised by that.
- 46:42Speaker 1: What? Yeah.
- 46:44Speaker 2: No big-time pregame speech or anything. How can you not
- 46:47Speaker 2: be a speech guy as a head coach? Yeah, he
- 46:49Speaker 2: just wants to be– Get everybody in focus. Let's stay
- 46:53Speaker 2: in focus. Isn't that doing a speech?
- 46:56Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 46:57Speaker 2: I mean, I guess not staying in– being in focus,
- 47:01Speaker 2: you can– if you said a speech, you'd get out
- 47:04Speaker 2: of focus.
- 47:05Speaker 1: I didn't understand that. I don't get it either.
- 47:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 47:08Speaker 2: I thought, well, isn't that what every coach does is
- 47:11Speaker 2: give a big-time speech before you go out there and play?
- 47:13Speaker 1: You're at least saying something to your team. I'm sure
- 47:16Speaker 1: he's saying something. If you're saying something, that would classify
- 47:19Speaker 1: as a speech, no?
- 47:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:22Speaker 1: I guess. I don't know. But that's just what he said.
- 47:26Speaker 2: So Big Ten will now feature live audio during its
- 47:31Speaker 2: broadcast between game and replay officials, review video, and a
- 47:37Speaker 2: look inside the replay center. Now we can watch and
- 47:42Speaker 2: listen live when they blow it again. I'm just telling
- 47:45Speaker 2: you right now. I saw this and I thought, It's
- 47:50Speaker 2: too little too late. I mean, to me, when you
- 47:52Speaker 2: come out with something like this, you're admitting guilt.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Boy, yeah. I mean, I think they would know that, right?
- 48:00Speaker 1: I mean, this is almost like their response to Western
- 48:05Speaker 1: Michigan in the MAAC. Like, sorry, the game didn't get overturned,
- 48:09Speaker 1: but we're going to implement this moving forward. Yeah. Sorry
- 48:12Speaker 1: that it screwed you.
- 48:13Speaker 2: Yeah, it definitely screwed him. And just I still look at,
- 48:17Speaker 2: you know, I said it yesterday. It's just what a
- 48:18Speaker 2: wild way to start a season. You got one team
- 48:21Speaker 2: that's getting threatened to be kicked out of their own
- 48:23Speaker 2: conference because they're playing supposed NFL players. Don't get me
- 48:27Speaker 2: started on that again.
- 48:28Speaker 1: I'm not.
- 48:29Speaker 2: Uh justy i don't have the energy okay good and
- 48:32Speaker 2: then you got this whole thing where a school steals
- 48:35Speaker 2: a win away from another school it's like oh my
- 48:38Speaker 2: gosh all right i'm with you now i think it's
- 48:41Speaker 2: going to come to a point where uh the committee
- 48:45Speaker 2: that picks the playoff teams will not allow michigan to
- 48:50Speaker 2: come in unless they go undefeated the rest of the
- 48:52Speaker 2: season which is not going to happen no yeah if
- 48:55Speaker 2: they have If they have one or two more losses,
- 48:57Speaker 2: they're not going to be allowed in. They may, may
- 49:00Speaker 2: have a case if they go 10-2, but I doubt it. No,
- 49:03Speaker 2: I think that would be three. They would consider it
- 49:05Speaker 2: three losses.
- 49:06Speaker 1: They should, yeah.
- 49:08Speaker 2: But no, Big Ten, it's too little too late. And
- 49:11Speaker 2: the fact that you're doing this, you keep doing different things,
- 49:15Speaker 2: it's admitting that that's a one of your teams should
- 49:18Speaker 2: have not won so just go ahead and say Michigan
- 49:22Speaker 2: we really need to correct this and in order to
- 49:24Speaker 2: correct this you need to admit that it's a loss
- 49:27Speaker 2: is there anything that would fix it in your mind.
- 49:31Speaker 1: I mean here's what's going to happen I and the
- 49:33Speaker 1: one thing I don't really understand I saw this on
- 49:35Speaker 1: Twitter I guess this was yesterday but how can the
- 49:39Speaker 1: NCAA come out and say basically that we can't reverse
- 49:43Speaker 1: a outcome of a game, but yet six miles from
- 49:48Speaker 1: here at the Yum Center, there's no banner hanging. So
- 49:52Speaker 1: you can take away a win at the end of
- 49:55Speaker 1: the season or in future years, but you can't take
- 49:59Speaker 1: away a win now? Yeah.
- 50:01Speaker 2: That doesn't really make sense. None of it makes any sense. Yeah,
- 50:04Speaker 2: they're not in charge of the clock. When the clock
- 50:06Speaker 2: strikes zero... The game is officially over. We can't overturn
- 50:10Speaker 2: a win or a loss.
- 50:12Speaker 1: Well, guess what? The clock did strike zero, and now
- 50:15Speaker 1: Michigan is one second and 0. Yeah. Oh, my gosh.
- 50:19Speaker 1: One second and a go.
- 50:20Speaker 2: All right, so you watched the game last night between
- 50:24Speaker 2: the Patriots and the Seahawks.
- 50:25Speaker 1: Yep, whole thing, unfortunately. God, I can't believe you did that. Really?
- 50:30Speaker 1: Wasn't a good game.
- 50:32Speaker 2: Well, I mean, the only bad part is the starting quarterback,
- 50:35Speaker 2: Sam Darnold, for the Patriots. I mean, that was really bad.
- 50:38Speaker 2: First series, and he's done. Now, the good news is
- 50:40Speaker 2: they did report that he does not have a fractured hip,
- 50:44Speaker 2: which they thought he might have. He's got to get
- 50:47Speaker 2: an MRI today. So, Seattle won the game 13-10. But
- 50:51Speaker 2: to me, it was a boring game.
- 50:53Speaker 1: Now. Must you like defense? Yeah. And see, I'm an
- 50:57Speaker 1: offense guy. But it wasn't really that great of defense.
- 51:00Speaker 1: It was more like bad offense.
- 51:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it seemed like a first game, but it didn't
- 51:05Speaker 2: seem like the two Super Bowl teams, without a doubt.
- 51:08Speaker 2: How do you think Mike Tomlin is doing, the former
- 51:11Speaker 2: Pittsburgh Steelers head coach?
- 51:13Speaker 1: He's a little too soft-spoken for me. Really? But I
- 51:16Speaker 1: think all in all, I think he's doing a great job.
- 51:18Speaker 1: I mean, he knows what he's talking about.
- 51:20Speaker 2: Yeah, because you're a big Steelers fan, and I never
- 51:24Speaker 2: liked the Steelers, but I always liked Mike Tomlin. And listen,
- 51:28Speaker 2: having him there and his nice smile, I enjoy him.
- 51:32Speaker 2: And I think he's doing a great job. And I'm
- 51:34Speaker 2: happy to see that. Now, during the game, what did
- 51:37Speaker 2: you think about Mike Tirico, who is my favorite announcer?
- 51:42Speaker 2: Reminding everyone watching that Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel in
- 51:47Speaker 2: year two with the Patriots had lots of off-season, off-the-field headlines.
- 51:55Speaker 2: Did you like him saying that? Was it fair that
- 51:58Speaker 2: people continue to remind everybody about Mike Vrabel and his,
- 52:04Speaker 2: you know, little off-the-field escapade with another reporter?
- 52:09Speaker 1: I mean, that's his bed. He's got a lay in it.
- 52:11Speaker 1: That's who? Mike Tirico or Mike Vrabel? Mike Vrabel. Yeah.
- 52:16Speaker 1: So I don't have an issue with that.
- 52:16Speaker 2: Are we all going to continue to remind Mike Vrabel
- 52:20Speaker 2: that he.
- 52:21Speaker 1: Yes. Yeah. I mean, it's like, You still hear comments about,
- 52:28Speaker 1: what's the Patriots guy? Kraft. Oh, Robert Kraft. Yeah, I mean,
- 52:33Speaker 1: you still hear jokes about him. You still hear jokes
- 52:35Speaker 1: about Deshaun Watson. Yeah, once somebody's got something nefarious in
- 52:39Speaker 1: their past, it's going to consistently be brought up.
- 52:41Speaker 2: The ghosts are always going to be living in those
- 52:44Speaker 2: people's lives, which is really sad. When you have a
- 52:46Speaker 2: public life like that, you just have to realize, I
- 52:50Speaker 2: can't screw it up. You can't do stuff like that.
- 52:55Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 52:57Speaker 2: I listen to it because, like I said, I'm a
- 52:59Speaker 2: big fan of Mike Tirico. And then he said that.
- 53:01Speaker 1: It's like, ooh. That was my first reaction. I will
- 53:05Speaker 1: never have a complaint about anything Mike Tirico says. Really?
- 53:09Speaker 1: He can say whatever he wants.
- 53:10Speaker 2: Even if he said, Kirk Cignetti is overrated and now
- 53:13Speaker 2: you shouldn't have a championship? What if he said something
- 53:15Speaker 2: like that? You'd still like him.
- 53:16Speaker 1: I'm fine with him saying that. Really? I would think
- 53:19Speaker 1: he's a little moronic for that statement.
- 53:21Speaker 3: But.
- 53:22Speaker 1: I'm with you.
- 53:23Speaker 2: Listen, I think Mike Tirico does just an unbelievable. I
- 53:27Speaker 2: just miss John Gruden with him because I think that
- 53:32Speaker 2: was the best crew.
- 53:34Speaker 1: Those two.
- 53:35Speaker 2: Chris Collinsworth is nice. I'm not going to say I
- 53:37Speaker 2: dislike Chris Collinsworth. I like Chris Collinsworth. I just think
- 53:41Speaker 2: John Gruden did a better job. And those two together
- 53:44Speaker 2: with Mike Tirico and John Gruden were phenomenal. That was
- 53:46Speaker 2: the best Monday night football I would watch every time.
- 53:50Speaker 2: And I'd watch it every time. Gruden's definitely more entertaining.
- 53:52Speaker 1: Oh, absolutely.
- 53:54Speaker 2: I mean, the way he's always, man. I love the
- 53:57Speaker 2: way he talks. And you could tell he knows football.
- 54:03Speaker 1: He's not an idiot.
- 54:05Speaker 2: But the way he describes it, you swear he's from California,
- 54:09Speaker 2: even though he's not. But I could listen to him
- 54:12Speaker 2: all day and all night. Let's get back to the
- 54:14Speaker 2: Whiskey Thief text line, 502-414-1450. Josh texted out and said,
- 54:19Speaker 2: with everybody so litigation happy these days, Western Michigan needs
- 54:25Speaker 2: to sue.
- 54:26Speaker 1: Laugh out loud. They're not going to. I mean, they're
- 54:32Speaker 1: going to end up spending all their money that they
- 54:33Speaker 1: got from that game to play it. And is it
- 54:36Speaker 1: worth it?
- 54:37Speaker 3: No.
- 54:38Speaker 2: And see, that's what I feel like. I mean, I
- 54:41Speaker 2: think the fans are wanting it more than the actual
- 54:43Speaker 2: school does. And I think the players would probably want it.
- 54:47Speaker 2: And the coaching staff. But it's just really sad. But anyway.
- 54:53Speaker 2: One person said, Lord, it's time to pump the brakes.
- 54:56Speaker 2: It could be optimistic, but let's not be delusional. Beating
- 55:02Speaker 2: Bama is still big and on a higher tier than UK.
- 55:07Speaker 2: Why hold anything back if you have a chance for
- 55:09Speaker 2: a signature win in your first season?
- 55:11Speaker 1: Go for it.
- 55:12Speaker 2: I couldn't have said any better. So let's just see.
- 55:16Speaker 2: You're probably right. Sometimes I feel like, well, week two,
- 55:19Speaker 2: do you want to give everything out? But I bet
- 55:22Speaker 2: there's still a few things he could hold back and
- 55:25Speaker 2: still keep for other games and still use a lot
- 55:28Speaker 2: of his playbook.
- 55:33Speaker 1: I know last.
- 55:35Speaker 2: Weekend UK played Youngstown State, but that's still a good
- 55:40Speaker 2: FCF school. And it's fun to see a different offensive scheme,
- 55:47Speaker 2: no matter who the opponent is, and watch it succeed.
- 55:51Speaker 2: And that offense, I said it Tuesday, that offense for
- 55:55Speaker 2: UK was a lot of fun to watch.
- 55:58Speaker 1: That's the part I love.
- 56:00Speaker 2: One person said, NCAA is scared to overturn an outcome
- 56:03Speaker 2: to a game because then you have all the gamblers complaining,
- 56:08Speaker 2: and then the sportsbooks will get upset. A real Pandora's
- 56:11Speaker 2: box game. Just because they let Michigan cheat again.
- 56:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 56:15Speaker 1: Could you imagine the headache for those sports books if
- 56:19Speaker 1: they reversed that? Huh? Yeah. Because nobody's going to give
- 56:23Speaker 1: the money that they want back. And they're going to
- 56:25Speaker 1: have to be forced to pay all the Western Michigan tickets. Yeah,
- 56:31Speaker 1: you're right. But that's not my issue. I mean, that's true.
- 56:34Speaker 1: But that would be a nightmare. It would be. I mean,
- 56:38Speaker 1: I don't know. Wasn't there.
- 56:41Speaker 2: A former Patriots wide receiver. Who was the little guy
- 56:45Speaker 2: that played with Tom Brady?
- 56:47Speaker 1: Wes Welker. Wes Welker.
- 56:48Speaker 2: Didn't he come to the Derby like a few years back?
- 56:54Speaker 2: Churchill Downs gave him more money than he was supposed
- 56:57Speaker 2: to get.
- 56:57Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 56:58Speaker 2: And then Churchill Downs reached out to him, said, hey,
- 57:01Speaker 2: you got to give this money back.
- 57:02Speaker 1: He's like, dude, you gave me the money. I'm keeping it.
- 57:05Speaker 2: Now, in that instance, do you think Wes Welker should
- 57:07Speaker 2: have kept the money or do you think he should
- 57:10Speaker 2: have given it back to Churchill Downs?
- 57:11Speaker 1: So it's funny. I actually typed in Wes Welker Derby. Yeah.
- 57:15Speaker 1: And this is the first thing that popped up. Yes.
- 57:17Speaker 1: So he won over $ 57, 000.
- 57:19Speaker 3: Wow.
- 57:22Speaker 1: Wow. $ 57, 000. So he celebrated by giving $ 100 bills to strangers.
- 57:31Speaker 1: I love that. He was just going around giving out
- 57:33Speaker 1: $ 100 bills. Well, turns out he was overpaid by $ 15, 000.
- 57:38Speaker 1: So they sent a letter asking for that extra money back. Yeah.
- 57:46Speaker 1: And he didn't do it, did he? He said, get
- 57:49Speaker 1: in line. That's hilarious. See, I love Wells Welker. I mean,
- 57:56Speaker 1: I just.
- 57:57Speaker 2: So do you think he should have given it back?
- 58:00Speaker 2: Does Churchill Downs... Did Churchill Downs have a case against him?
- 58:04Speaker 1: Listen, it's your fault. Yeah, no, it's really... I'm keeping
- 58:08Speaker 1: the money. That's a fine line one for me. Is
- 58:10Speaker 1: it really? Okay, how so? Because it is Churchill Downs'
- 58:15Speaker 1: fault that they overpaid, but to be a good human...
- 58:21Speaker 1: oh okay you should you should give it back okay
- 58:23Speaker 1: so that's what yeah it's a you think that he
- 58:25Speaker 1: should have given it back probably so okay i mean
- 58:28Speaker 1: it's like when people get overpaid with their jobs i
- 58:31Speaker 1: mean that that's never freaking happened to me but like
- 58:34Speaker 1: you see those stories online all the time where people
- 58:37Speaker 1: look at their account and it's like i got five
- 58:39Speaker 1: hundred thousand dollars oh that's because my job paid me
- 58:41Speaker 1: way too much cool and then they'll go out and spend.
- 58:44Speaker 2: It yeah okay uh i have a podcast random thoughts
- 58:48Speaker 2: guy can you read that when i still have a
- 58:50Speaker 2: problem with his uh text what is it podcast random
- 58:53Speaker 2: thoughts guy yeah can you read that one for me why.
- 58:56Speaker 1: Does his not show up for you uh it says
- 58:59Speaker 1: michael you realize that the lions and the ravens aren't
- 59:02Speaker 1: rivals right one is in the nfc and one is
- 59:04Speaker 1: in the afc lamar going to the ravens worked out
- 59:07Speaker 1: well for me as a fan if he played for
- 59:09Speaker 1: the packers no way in hell I'd root for his team,
- 59:11Speaker 1: but I would root for him as a player. Also,
- 59:13Speaker 1: Louisville has a lot of people without a pro sports identity.
- 59:17Speaker 1: My dad is from Detroit, so the decision was made
- 59:19Speaker 1: for me. So when a generational player like Lamar comes through,
- 59:22Speaker 1: it makes sense for football fans without a diehard team
- 59:25Speaker 1: to pull for would gravitate towards the Ravens. Is that
- 59:28Speaker 1: talking about my comment from yesterday? Yes. Okay. Which I
- 59:32Speaker 1: agree with. Do you really? Yeah.
- 59:35Speaker 2: Here's my problem is that I grew up a Bengals fan.
- 59:40Speaker 2: And so the fact that they show the Ravens cuts
- 59:42Speaker 2: out my Bengals.
- 59:44Speaker 1: So I don't get to watch the Bengals play.
- 59:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 59:47Speaker 2: And that's the part I don't like. And that's the
- 59:48Speaker 2: closest team to Louisville. We're watching a team that is
- 59:52Speaker 2: 10 hours away by car. because the the the networks
- 59:57Speaker 2: feel like well it's you it's it's louisville and majority
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: of the fans are probably uofl fans it's like no
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: that's not the case half of the city is kentucky
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: fans we don't care about lamar jackson we want to
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: see the bingles play and that frustrates me i get
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: it yeah so no offense podcast random thoughts i just
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: disagree with you so uh 48 Handley said Welker gave
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: a lot of money away, and you just talked about that.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: I think that's a great story. I want to know, though.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: But I'd like to know how much he gave to
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: just random people then. Did he give the $ 15, 000 back
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: to random people? And Churchill Downs just needs to be
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: okay with that.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: It just said he was handing out $ 100 bills to strangers.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Here's what I want to know, though. All right. Where
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: on the track was he doing this? Because if he
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: was up in Millionaire's Row– Those people don't need an
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: extra $ 100. Go down to the common folk down low.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: Hand it out to them. No, listen.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Well, he wasn't a millionaire as well. He was sitting
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: in the turf club. So I bet he went downstairs
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: around the paddock and just started getting money out there.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: Because they were walking around everywhere.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: Gotcha.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Which I thought was kind of fun. UK Volleyball. Let's
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: talk about them for a minute. You know, just fresh
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: off of playing in front of 40,000. What was it? 45,000
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: people at Wrigley Field. They had to play last night
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: at Historic Memorial Coliseum against the 18th ranked University of
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: North Carolina Tar Heels.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: Are you ready? Fourth sweep of the season. Yep.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: Fourth sweep of the season. That's the 18th ranked team
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: in the country right there. So UK just keeps going.
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: Now.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Hang on. They've had one, two, three, four. Fifth. That
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: was the fifth. Oh, it was the fifth one. Okay.
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: That was the fifth one. I stand corrected. Uh, next
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: up is, uh, they're headed to the Bahamas to play.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: How you like that? They're going from Chicago played in
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: Ricky field. Now they're going to the Bahamas to play SMU.
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: Make sure to use sunscreen coach Skinner.
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: Don't want to get that head. Yeah. He is pale.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: Isn't he? He needs some sun. He does. I mean,
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: I love– He's a busy coach in an award-winning volleyball team.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: Yeah, we don't need him kind of having flake on
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: the top of his head and all of a sudden
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: all that skin is going to get too much sun.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: Yeah. SMU, by the way, is number eight in the country. Yep.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: Another fun game. Yeah, another fun game.
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: Then they have– then they place a couple other schools
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: down there if they win that game. And then– It
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: would be either Purdue or Houston. That's right, Purdue or Houston.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: Purdue is usually pretty good, aren't they?
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: They are, yeah. And then after that, I think they
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: got UofL is coming up. That's correct. So before they
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: get into the SEC. So anyway. SEC, by the way. Yeah,
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: I know. Is a joke. It's a joke. I mean,
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: I don't see one ranked team on their schedule in
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: conference play. They don't play Texas? They do not. Really? Oh,
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: they do play. No, okay. Okay. Maybe they don't have
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: the rankings on the SEC. Yeah, I was going to say,
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: wait a minute now. There's some ranked teams in the SEC,
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: and generally it's pretty tough. But that's the reason I
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: like how he scheduled this offseason. are at a conference play.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: The non-conference schedule has just been brutal, and they're doing
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: really well with it.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: And I'm glad about it. Are you surprised about Live Golf?
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: No.
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: If you don't know, Live Golf files for bankruptcy. And
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: I'm not surprised by it. I just wish it would
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: go by the wayside. Are you ready for the liabilities
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: they have right now?
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: They're estimating it between $ 500 million and.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: $ 1 billion. A lot of cheddar. Yep. And they're not
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: even paying some of the players now. I mean, they're
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: going to have to, though, right? Not if they're in bankruptcy.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: They're protected. That's so sad. It is stupid.
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: So it's going to be interesting to see. Why don't
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: they just do away with it? All right, let's just
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: get back to the PGA and be done.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: What's the word I'm looking for? Stubborn. I mean, they're
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: going to give it one more go. Guaranteed.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: It's stupid stubborn is what it is. If I was
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: one of the players that say, you know what? You're
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: not paying me.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: I'm done.
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: We're out of contract now. So therefore, you can't enforce
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: your contract if you can't pay me. So therefore, I'm
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: going back to PGA.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: Well you still got things that you have to do
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: to get back on the pga like what so there's
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: like a tournament you got to go back and get
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: your card i think it's like 25 000 fine that
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: you got to pay towards charity you're obviously not going
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: to get invited to all the major events like you've
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: got to play your way into those you've got to
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: basically just come out and And say how great the
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: PGA is versus the lib. There's just a long list
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: of things you've got to do to get that.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: I know, but PGA needs to just turn their back
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: and say, okay, I'll overlook this. Let's move on. Let's
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: get back to the way it used to be. Because
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: that would make all the golf fans happy.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: Don't you think? Yeah. It would make me happy.
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: Because I've watched probably a cumulative of 30 seconds of
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: lib golf. And that was all I needed to know
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: that I'm not really interested.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: I said $ 25, 000. $ 5 million donation. Per player? Per player. So, like,
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: when Brooks Koepka came back, he had to pay $ 5
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: million towards a charity donation. That's ridiculous. But that was
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: only that returning member program was only active for this season. So,
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: who knows what it looks like moving forward. Might have
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: to go just to the DP tour. I was going
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: to say. $ 25, 000 is realistic. $ 5 million, that's ridiculous. Well,
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: I mean, they should have to pay that much. No, why? Yes,
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: because they went over and they left the PGA for
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: $ 300 million. Well, not per player. Basically, I mean, the
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: lowest I heard was $ 150 million.
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: Oh, really?
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: What's $ 5 million worth of that? Nothing.
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: Well, but by the time you pay taxes, by the
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: time you pay your agent and all that crap, it's
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: not as much as you think.
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: Speaking of taxes, did you see the Matt Stafford contract
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: for tonight? No, how much? Oh my gosh. So he
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: is scheduled to make, I want to say 2.2 million tonight,
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: but they're in Australia. And when it's all said and done,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: Australia takes a ton of taxes out. So when it's
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: all said and done, I think he makes like $ 900, 000 tonight.
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: Are you serious?
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: I'll take $ 900, 000, but yeah, that's ridiculous.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay. They're taking a majority of his money. That's crazy.
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: Wait, they're just there to visit. Just because they're playing
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: a game, they get to keep that much money?
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: I guess because he's working. Really? In their country. I
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: don't know. That would keep me from wanting to go
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: and play there then. Yeah.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: Listen, you're not going to tax me. Go tax the NFL.
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: They forced me to come here and play. So, yeah, 2.2 million,
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: and they're taking 1.25. By the way, you're still blowing
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: my mind away when Corey Price is here talking about
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: ESPN and the NFL owns 10% of ESPN.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: That is crazy. I am still blown away by that,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: by the way. So, anyway. All right. I want to
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: talk about some basketball as soon as we get back. Basketball? Yeah.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: We're three weeks out. We'll talk about it as soon
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: as we get back. Holy moly, we are. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: That's crazy. Stay right there.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: We got more Just the Cats coming right up.
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: A man sure can be a whole lot of things.
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: I just want to.
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: Be a good one.
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: That makes you smile like you always should want.
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: It gives you everything that you can dream of. Kids
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: are building castles in the sand. Everybody's getting a suntan.
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: There's a tropical breeze and water that's crystal clear. On
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: this dot on the map, we're at summertime all year.
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: They're throwing a Frisbee back and forth, running and riding
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: them buggy boats. There's a white sailboat sitting out past
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: the pier.
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: And we're kicking it back. We're at summertime all year. 502-384-1450.
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: 502-414-1450 on the Whiskey Thief text line. One person texted,
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: or Freddie Hanley texted, and Bill Bailey was the best.
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: Oh, Bill Bailey. I remember him.
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: Wasn't he on 48 Hanley Wacky, W-A-K-Y? I believe he
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: was on Wacky, which that's... was the first radio station, Justin,
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: that I listened to. And then after that, I think
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: the first FM one was LRS or something like that.
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: And I didn't even know what FM was at that time.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure at one point, this transmission was Wacky. Really? Like, seriously. Yeah, no,
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: I'm not making a joke. Sounds like you are. I'm
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: pretty sure in like the history at one point. Really?
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: XVW was. Oh, really? I didn't know that. If I'm
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: not mistaken.
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: We are now on wacky radio, a station I listened
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: to as a kid.
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: That's crazy. I'm pretty sure. Oh, my gosh. I don't
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: know when that was, but I'm pretty sure back in
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: the day at one point we were one.
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: You just blew my mind with that right there. One
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: person texted in, Scoots is probably pointing two thanks to
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: game day's pen health. You have a problem with the ad, Michael?
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: Really? Is your wife sitting beside you? Blink twice. No,
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: she's not.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: I can't read Podcast Random Thoughts Guy. If you'll pull
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: that up, I can't. For some reason, it won't let
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: me scroll.
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: By the way, Jay, after watching that ad, I don't
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: need Game Day Mens. Oh, my God. I can't believe
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: you said that. Podcast Random Thoughts Guy says, no vig
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: is no juice. Is no juice the vigorous? I don't
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: know what that means.
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: What?
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: He also says, trust me, as a Lions fan, I
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: understand the frustration when you think your team should be
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: on TV and they aren't. There were many times when
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: you would think they'd be on TV playing the Browns
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: and they aren't, Titans and they aren't. Now that they're
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: good and they're fun, they're on TV more. Yeah. I
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: would be pissed, too, as a Bengals fan if Baltimore
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: took precedent. But what are we going to do? NFL
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: loves money. Yeah. Oh, exactly.
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: Podcasts run with that guy. It's the best text you
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: sent in. And I couldn't agree more. And it is
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: about the money. And it's just frustrating me because I
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: want to watch the Bengals. Also, Zach texted me personally.
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: Oh, he did? He said, is the reason you hate
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: Lamar so much because there's no relevant players from the
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: UK in the NFL? I don't think that's necessarily true.
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: It's not. For many years, you had Randall Cobb. Josh Allen.
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: Now he's gone. Josh Allen is there. Exactly.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: There's a number of them. Wesley Woodyard was always my
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: favorite to watch, and I would sit there and hold
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: my breath and watch the Colts because he was playing
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: for the Colts. But Jacob Tammy played for the Colts.
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: I mean, no, no, no. That's smart, Alec. You're smart, brother.
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: 48 Hanley said he was at Wacky but came back
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: for a second stint, I believe, at– WKLO.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: I don't know that station, but good for him. That
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: is in Washington County. Oh, it is? Cool.
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: Now, everybody's talking about this whole AI thing. A former
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: AI researcher named Jacob Coxon, who resigned from his job
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: with an AI company, says that AI will cause mankind
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: to go extinct within the decade. Which means it's 2026
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: right now. We're three and a half years away from
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: losing all of mankind.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: You said. No, no, no, no, no. I think he
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: said meant within the next decade. Oh, you think it's
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: within the. I don't. When they say with decade. I
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: don't think it means by 2030.
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: So we're 14 years or 13 and a half years away.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: Live it up. pull out the Novig commercial.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: And then there's another guy that still works in another
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: lead researcher agreed and said he believes there's a 10%
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: chance by 2036.
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: Greater than 10% chance. What do you think? I mean,
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: I don't know how that would be possible, but it is.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: I mean, the evolution of AI is certainly a scary thing.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: I mean, I was, I have always thought about it
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: from the perspective of what's it doing to people's brains and,
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: What are kids going to be like in future generations? But, yeah,
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: I mean, it could certainly get to the point where
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: it could damage us as humans, yeah.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: But do you think it'll make mankind will go extinct
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: because of AI?
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: I don't. I don't believe it. Right now, no. But,
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: I mean, with this quickly as it's evolving, who knows?
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: It is scary. See, I don't think it's scary at all.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: What's to be scared about? I mean, I don't really
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: know if I want to delve into all that because
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: I don't know if I have an opinion on that
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: quite yet. Okay, well, then just say that. You don't
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: have an opinion. That's okay. The future and the way
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: it's transpiring does really freak me out. It does. It's
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: just change.
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: I think that's what we're all uncomfortable with. But it's
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: not good change. I think AI can be utilized and
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: can be helpful. Now, when you turn to a point
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: where you're totally using AI for everything... That's where the
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: problem lies.
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: Uh, cause I, I, I like, for instance, I wrote
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: that whole thing yesterday on the horse race.
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: That's tomorrow. Seventh.
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: But to answer your questions, uh, Jamie, it is the
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: seventh race tomorrow. Churchill downs, uh, post time is three 50.
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: We'll talk more about tomorrow, but, uh, uh, that's when
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: you can queue it up on Churchill downs and watch
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: the race. But I wrote that whole thing. I didn't
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: use AI and it, it, it takes a long time. It,
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: it keeps, it keeps me fresh in my brain working
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: when I do stuff like that. And I think when,
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: when young people start using, like for instance, didn't we
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: talk about it a year or so ago about cursive students,
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: young students do not know how to write in cursive anymore.
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: Yeah. And I'm like, that's amazing to me.
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: And the fact that you have to, uh, uh, check
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: students for not using AI to write papers for them,
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: term papers, take tests, all kinds of stuff. It's like,
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: where are we going with all this stuff? Have we
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: become such a society that we're completely lazy? It's just,
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: that's the part that scares.
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: Me the most. Did you ever see the story, I
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: guess this was a few weeks ago, where the college
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: professor duped all of his students? Yes, I saw that.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: By putting an invisible line in it that AI picked
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: up on and nobody else caught it? Yeah, I loved that.
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: So, Jamie said, we all need to go to Game
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: Day Men's Health so we can be in our best
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: shape to fight the Terminators. Jamie, I predict that you're
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: probably in phenomenal shape.
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: You've seen him. That's right. He's in okay shape. Okay shape?
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: I wouldn't say he's in phenomenal shape. No offense, Jamie.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: All right. I mean, he'd catch some bad guys. I
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: don't know if he'd catch me, but.
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: Yeah, he'd definitely catch me. Can you believe here? I
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: like this segue. We are three weeks away from basketball.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: I love that. from a big blue madness. I don't
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: know that I'm ready for it yet. Cause I'm still
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: just knee deep in football, but yeah, we're just getting
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: knee deep into football. It's not like it's, it's been
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: a couple, two or three weeks. I mean, we're just
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: now only one game into the season.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: We're three weeks away from a big blue madness. So
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: Mark Pope said that his roster is long, fast and skilled,
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: but bet against the sports trend towards size and physicality.
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: Is that potentially a fatal flaw in the sec?
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: Say it one more time.
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: Mark Pope said that his roster is long, fast, and skilled,
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: but bet against the sports trend towards size and physicality.
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: That's the trend for basketball today is size and physicality.
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: But I think the other things you named are required
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: as well, right? Yeah. I don't get what you're asking. Okay, well,
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: never mind. It's amazing.
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: I'm trying to ask whether or not you think that
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: having a long, fast, and skilled team is better than
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: having a size and physicality team.
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: I would say so. Really? Yes. Because that's the difference between... Well,
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: the game's not as physical as it used to be. No,
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: not at all. It's become more of a finesse game, right? Yeah.
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: Which is interesting to me. I mean, I never dreamed
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: it would be that way. So, all right, Saturday, UK
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: is going to wear blue helmet, blue jersey, white pants,
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: which is kind of their classic look. Do you think
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: it makes a difference whatever uniform they wear?
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: No. Not one bit. Does it not? I mean, the
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: fans care about that sort of thing, but it doesn't
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: matter to those guys, no. I couldn't imagine. I think
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: it does. You do?
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: I really do. When they see a special helmet that
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: they're going to wear. Like, for instance, the UK chrome helmets.
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: I think the players really like wearing those things. I
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: think it means a little something more to them when
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: they're going to wear a special uniform like that.
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: Do you think they think that because you like the
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: chrome domes?
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: It's probably me. And you're probably right. But I think
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: there are uniforms. If you go ask former players. If
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: they liked wearing a particular uniform more than another, I
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: bet they would agree with that and say that they
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: like that uniform better than another one.
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: Maybe so. I don't know. We'll see.
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: But Steven Peake's going to be with us tomorrow. I'm
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: looking forward to that. That'll be his first stint on
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: Just the Cats. So I appreciate you listening. Everybody have
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: a great day. We'll see you tomorrow on Just the Cats.
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: The moon shines and.
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: It's two for one.
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: Girls, you got it.
