- 0:00Speaker 1: Here we are, guys, our last break of the day.
- 0:03Speaker 1: It's been a good day. We've had fun today. Well
- 0:08Speaker 1: that's gonna be remark too, That's gonna be my clothes remark.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Because I want to share with people the difference between
- 0:17Speaker 1: fun and joy. Okay, because there is a difference. And
- 0:23Speaker 1: I had to learn this, oh me too, So here
- 0:28Speaker 1: we go. You know, as I was growing up, just
- 0:31Speaker 1: like most of us, we had a daily quest when
- 0:36Speaker 1: we were young. As children, we only had one mission
- 0:40Speaker 1: in life. After school. We wanted to go play on
- 0:46Speaker 1: Saturdays and Sundays, I want to go play. I could
- 0:52Speaker 1: not wait to go outside. I wanted to go out
- 0:55Speaker 1: in the snow. That I wanted to play because it
- 0:58Speaker 1: was fun. Now, what I didn't know was there should
- 1:03Speaker 1: be a cutoff point for having fun in your life.
- 1:06Speaker 1: But oh no, not me. I took it too far.
- 1:10Speaker 1: I took fun to college. Now I know everybody that
- 1:14Speaker 1: went to college, whoa, we had a blast. I had
- 1:16Speaker 1: too much of a blast. And then after college kept
- 1:21Speaker 1: on trying to have fun. There's a cutoff point to fun.
- 1:26Speaker 1: And the thing I learned about it was, see fun,
- 1:30Speaker 1: you have to go do something, or go somewhere or
- 1:33Speaker 1: be around a certain people in order to have it.
- 1:39Speaker 1: To go have fun, you have to manufacture it. You
- 1:44Speaker 1: have to buy a ticket, you have to be at
- 1:47Speaker 1: a certain place, you have to drink a certain amount.
- 1:51Speaker 1: You gotta be around the people that are smoking this.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Now you can have fun if you make it to
- 1:57Speaker 1: this party right here, we gonna have so much fun.
- 2:00Speaker 1: And you keep looking for fun, But if you think
- 2:03Speaker 1: about fun, man, it's always manufactured. It's something you gotta
- 2:09Speaker 1: be doing, seen doing. You gotta be somewhere or thought
- 2:13Speaker 1: of somewhere. It's always the case in having fun and
- 2:18Speaker 1: fun is always short lived. You know. Fun never lasts
- 2:21Speaker 1: a long time. You never hear anybody say, well, I
- 2:26Speaker 1: just had fun, fun, fun, fun, fun for fun don't
- 2:30Speaker 1: last a long time. It's a very fleeting thing. And
- 2:33Speaker 1: I was teaching my sons about fun one day because
- 2:36Speaker 1: we were in Vegas and they were going out and
- 2:38Speaker 1: I told him, I said, be careful out there, man,
- 2:39Speaker 1: I'm going to the room. Dad, y'all come on, man,
- 2:42Speaker 1: we're gonna have some fun. I said, listen to me.
- 2:44Speaker 1: We've had a full night, went to see the fight,
- 2:46Speaker 1: everything was good, and now you're gonna go out here, man,
- 2:50Speaker 1: I'm gonna just tell you right now, it's dangerous out there.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Be careful, Oh dad, we're gonna have some fun. I've
- 2:57Speaker 1: discovered something about fun. If you stay, if you keep
- 3:00Speaker 1: having fun, there's a time limit to fun. If you
- 3:04Speaker 1: stay at the club till it closed, it ain't finna
- 3:07Speaker 1: be fun no more. If you drinking and you fell
- 3:12Speaker 1: a buzz, but you keep on drinking, it ain't finn
- 3:15Speaker 1: to be fun no more. If you at a sporting
- 3:20Speaker 1: event and everybody going out the parking lot, but you
- 3:23Speaker 1: y'all still try to have fun. State is not finna
- 3:27Speaker 1: be fun no more. Because fun I discovered. I taught
- 3:30Speaker 1: my children that night. Fun is an acronym. F you
- 3:34Speaker 1: in is an acronym, and I taught it to him.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I said, son, if you keep having fun too long,
- 3:41Speaker 1: it's effed up now. That's what fun stands for. Too
- 3:45Speaker 1: much fun and it's effed up now. Boy. They laughed,
- 3:50Speaker 1: They laughed. They went out that night in Vegas. The
- 3:53Speaker 1: next morning I saw them. They looked dishovel. They're in
- 3:57Speaker 1: bad shape. Say what happened? Man Dad? At the club?
- 4:00Speaker 1: Man dude got shot and killed. Then the police surround
- 4:05Speaker 1: the building. We stayed in there. Man, we ain't get
- 4:06Speaker 1: home in five thirty. You know why because they was
- 4:11Speaker 1: having fun and too much fun. It got fed up.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Now fu in it's efed up now, and that's what
- 4:18Speaker 1: fun is. They said, Dad, what about you? I said,
- 4:21Speaker 1: I like to have joy and said, what's the difference
- 4:24Speaker 1: between joy and fun? I said, joy is a feeling
- 4:28Speaker 1: that I have on the inside that resides in me
- 4:31Speaker 1: most of the time, and when I'm with myself, within
- 4:36Speaker 1: myself or by myself. I found that I have a
- 4:40Speaker 1: residing peace in me that gives me a certain joy
- 4:45Speaker 1: that I enjoy being alone. I just enjoy just being
- 4:48Speaker 1: with my girl. That's joy to me. That I can
- 4:51Speaker 1: sit up and watch my grandchildren play, That I can
- 4:55Speaker 1: take my family on vacation and watch them enjoy theyself.
- 4:57Speaker 1: That puts a joy in me. That joy that I
- 5:00Speaker 1: have is not manufactured or superficial. The joy that I have,
- 5:06Speaker 1: that residing peace is because I have a relationship with God.
- 5:11Speaker 1: God has given me the peace that I have in
- 5:14Speaker 1: my life today. I wish I had discovered this years ago.
- 5:17Speaker 1: I could have saved myself a world of trouble, but
- 5:20Speaker 1: I didn't because I was like a lot of people.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I was pursuing fun, trying to have it as many
- 5:28Speaker 1: times as I could, going to have fun. If I
- 5:33Speaker 1: could have understood about this residing peace, that it's okay
- 5:38Speaker 1: to be with me, that I don't need a bunch
- 5:41Speaker 1: of outside stimulation to feel good anymore. That I can
- 5:45Speaker 1: sit back, close my eyes and be grateful and find joy.
- 5:50Speaker 1: That I can sit up and just watch TV and
- 5:52Speaker 1: be in perfect peace and joy. That I can walk
- 5:55Speaker 1: around and ride my bike or walk down to the
- 6:00Speaker 1: river and just have joy. I could put my headsets
- 6:04Speaker 1: on and listen to some music and just have joy.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Joy to me, is better than having fun. That's the difference, though,
- 6:14Speaker 1: between fun and joy. One is manufactured and one is
- 6:19Speaker 1: provided with an everlasting peace and relationship with God. If
- 6:23Speaker 1: I wish you, I'd look for some of that joy
- 6:25Speaker 1: you feel me. Those are my closing remarks today. I
- 6:29Speaker 1: hope you got something out of it. If not, don't worry.
- 6:31Speaker 1: We'll be back to moll you like that one day
- 6:35Speaker 1: in the meantime. Y'all. This is something favorite here talk
