So stoked to be with you here this morning to get into the

word of God together. I'm always reminded As We Gather

like we gather together you know corporately but as we gather

together this morning corporately all throughout the

world. The church is gathering in

spirit and Truth getting into the word of God.

While God builds his church and builds his kingdom.

we've known you, we love your pastor, your team, your

fellowship deeply my wife, and I moved here in 2009, and I found

myself on staff at a church by 2011.

I didn't know what I was doing, so I frequently would come up

How do you do this thing? How do you do ministry?

And so, Ed and Marie, and Ian, and Katie, and just the whole

team have really been Role in our walk and our discipleship,

and learning the work of the ministry.

you this morning. I am the pastor of roots Church

in Monument Colorado, still crazy to think about there.

A lot of things I was willing to do for Jesus.

I didn't think it was going to include planting a church.

I've even met with Pastor Ed. Hoping he would talk me out of

it and he didn't he encouraged me said yes.

Planet last week, step out. Now, now is the time, but we do

covet your prayers. We feel your prayers.

We even my wife, and I were talking this morning on the way

over of just the prayers covering us in our team, it's

been an incredible. Were this is our 17th months

since planting the church and praise the Lord and incredible.

What we've seen. Our Sanctuary looks a little

different than this one. We meet in a Materia, and Louis
2:32
Palmer Middle School and but it's incredible, man.

Hundreds of people. People are receiving the Lord

Jesus by faith. Being baptized in the name of

the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We launched connect groups and bible studies and just
2:45
overwhelmed by God's faithfulness.

Oh, thank you for your prayers. And I do want to share a couple
2:50
things before we get into the word of God, we're going to be
2:52
in Philippians 2 and I'm going to be sharing a message called
2:56
all in, but I feel like it's important to share a little bit
2:59
before we start. In years ago, I wasn't even
3:02
saved. Wasn't even saved.
3:05
I was an outspoken unbeliever my entire life.
3:10
When I think about the things that I used to say about God.
3:13
And I used to say about the church, I am undone by God's
3:18
faithfulness and Grace in my life.
3:19
No one in my family was saved, I fell into drugs and alcohol at a
3:24
young age, 15 years of drug addiction and alcoholism.
3:27
I abandoned my wife, I abandon my children.
3:31
I was wretched. Oh my goodness.
3:34
And then I found myself in a motel room, on the west side of
3:36
Chicago, suicidal attempting to kill myself of an overdose.
3:42
And instead I survived all the drugs were gone.
3:45
All the booze was gone and I was standing there face to face in
3:47
the mirror and I didn't know who I was looking at.
3:50
But finally, in that moment, I came to the end of myself and I
3:53
cried out to a god that I didn't know, and he answered me and he
3:57
saved my soul. Oh my goodness. and I share this
4:05
with you this morning, I am not boasting that look, we did
4:08
everything in our life, to destroy our lives, but God, by
4:13
his grace God by his grace. He is so faithful.

And so whatever. You have walked in here with
4:20
this morning, I need you to know God is real.
4:24
He is alive. And He is building his church.
4:27
And if you don't know the Lord, Jesus Christ here this morning,
4:30
I am desperate for you to know him to know the truth, that God
4:36
knows you, and loves you. And came here for us to make a
4:41
way for us. In spite of us, it's incredible.

This is the Glorious gospel. Well.

All that to say, oh my goodness, I'm all in all in a life of
4:54
abandoned for Jesus, how could I not that he would save us that
4:58
he would make a way for us. And man, there's so many things
5:01
going on in our culture. So many things going on in our
5:04
lives, different life stages. But the reality is church, is we
5:08
believe what we say, we believe? How could we not be all in for
5:14
Christ and for his plan, and for his purpose.

This is for this world and for his church, the reality is is
5:23
all in is the only option. We are saved by grace through
5:27
faith saved by the grace of God. And when we place our faith and
5:31
trust in the Lord, Jesus, his finished work upon the cross.

Well we are all in Christ and he is all in US Christ in you
5:39
Christ. In me the hope of glory

Colossians 1:27. We are sealed with the Holy
5:45
Spirit of promise that. Baptized into the body of Christ
5:51
upon salvation adopted as Sons and Daughters of the one true
5:56
Living God over all of creation. We are all in Christ and he is

all in US. Make their let there be no

mistake here this morning. Second Corinthians 5:17 says,

therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation, thank you.

God old things have passed away. Behold all things.

Things have become new. First Corinthians 1 verse 30

says M because of him you are in Christ.

Jesus who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and

sanctification and Redemption. So that as it is written, let

the one who boasts boast in the Lord, my boast is in the Lord

and the Lord alone. Paul would say in Galatians

2:20, I have been crucified with Christ.

It is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me and the

life, which I now live in the flesh by faith.

Miss Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me all in

church. How can we not be all in?

As you can see I'm still a little broken up about it.

Oh, I'll I love it. There's nowhere I would rather

be than utterly broken at the foot of the cross, undone by the

grace of God, in our lives church, this morning, I need you

to know Jesus invites, you to experience New Life in a
7:29
relationship with him. And this invitation is for
7:35
everyone, whether you've grown up in the church, or you didn't
7:40
like me, it's an invitation for people who may not feel like
7:45
they fit in in a setting like this.

Look, I'm the pastor that preaches with a Chicago hat and

he's covered with tattoos. I know what it feels like to
7:54
feel like you don't fit you fit in man Christ came and died for
7:59
all. It's an invitation for people

who maybe feel far from God, because of your past or maybe
8:07
even your present, it's an invitation for people who may
8:10
have felt close to God, as Point in your life.

But that was a long time ago, and so much has happened.

It seemed to Tatian from Jesus open to everyone.

Everyone here, this this morning, it doesn't matter your
8:24
past, your present, your personality, your politics, it
8:29
doesn't matter your age, or your ethnicity.

This invitation is for you today.

From God himself. For you to experience life,
8:40
life, more abundant life, eternal In Christ Alone by
8:45
either beginning or renewing a relationship with him.

Here this morning, 1st Corinthians 15 1 through 4 says,

moreover Brethren. I declare unto you, the gospel,

which I preached to you, which also you received and in, which

you stand by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that

word, which I preached to you, unless Yes, you believed in
9:08
vain, for, I delivered to you first of all, that, which I also
9:12
received that Christ died for our sins.

According to the scriptures that he was buried and that he rose

again the third day, according to the scriptures, this is the
9:22
gospel. This is the only gospel that
9:26
saves. And so if you're here this
9:28
morning and you have yet to place your faith and trust in
9:31
Christ Jesus, his finished work upon the cross on your behalf.

First man, I am so Stoked, that you're here this morning.

But I want you to know, it is not an accident and I pray that
9:44
you would choose for yourself today.

To do just that to place your faith and trust in Christ alone,

you'll never regret it. Never regret it but I need you

to know this as well. If you have not placed your

faith and trust in the Lord Jesus, you're not just lost your
10:04
not just searching, you're not just trying to figure things out
10:07
in your own time, and in your own way, the scriptures reveal
10:11
that we are actually dead in our sin and trespass eternally
10:15
separated from God. But God in his grace yet while
10:23
we were still sinners, Christ would die for our sins.

And he's through faith alone and his grace alone that we are
10:33
saved. The Bible says that all have
10:36
sinned and fallen short of the glory of God Romans 3:23.

And if you look up that word all in the original language of the
10:44
Bible, do you know what that word means?

All it's why they translated it that way.

All have sinned but there's something beautiful about this.

This puts us all on the same playing field.

Does it matter if you grew up in the church, your whole life?

Doesn't matter if your family was so dysfunctional, so broken.

So Twisted by sin, that you're sitting here this morning,

you're trying to process all the hurt and all the pain and all
11:17
the Death and All the destruction.

It puts us all on a Level Playing Field.

At the foot of the cross, which is why the gospel of the Lord.

Jesus Christ is such incredible news Jesus, Paid the full price
11:35
for sin, your sin, my sin, all sin and in a room full of
11:41
Sinners. This is really good news.

Every breath is an opportunity to be made, right with God.
11:50
Every breath is an opportunity for salvation.
11:53
Why would we put it off? Why put it off for 30 years?

Thirty years and it almost killed me.

And yet in the twinkling of an eye.

I cried out to the Lord and he met me and pulled me out of the

Miry clay, and put my feet on a firm foundation, his heart for
12:13
all of us. Romans 10, verse 8 through 10

says, the word is near you in your mouth and in your heart

that is the word of faith. Which we preach that if you
12:23
confess with your mouth, the Lord Jesus.

And you believe in your heart, that God raised him from the
12:29
dead. You will be saved.

Praise God. For, with the heart, One
12:36
Believes unto righteousness. And with the mouth confession is
12:40
made unto salvation. If you're here this morning, if
12:44
you're here, and you have doubts, if you here this morning

and you're struggling, if you're here this morning and you're
12:51
carrying a bunch of extra baggage, if you're here this
12:55
morning and you have questions, if you're here this morning and
12:59
you have addictions, if you're here this morning and you have

been hurt by the church, come to Bring it to, Jesus his
13:08
invitation to you and to me and to all his come to me, all you
13:12
who labor and are heavy laden. And I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for.

I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your
13:25
souls. For my yoke is easy, and my
13:29
burden is light. If that's you this morning and

you haven't placed your faith in, Trust in Christ.

I pray that this morning you would believe and receive Jesus
13:45
by faith. With that, as I promise, we're
13:49
going to be in Philippians 2. The Apostle Paul wrote this
13:54
letter to his close friends. The Christians in Philippi, he's
13:59
on house arrest. You can read about this in Acts
14:02
28. He's awaiting a court appearance
14:05
before, Caesar the church in Philippi.

I founded by the Apostle Paul 11 years.

Before he writes this letter on his second missionary journey,
14:15
in chapter 1 of this book. Paul is encouraging the church
14:21
in Philippi. While he's sitting in prison,
14:23
he's a assuring them of this incredible reality that
14:26
everything in his life that has happened.

Even his imprisonment, his actually turned out for the
14:32
furtherance of the Gospel, not a hindrance.

As he wraps up chapter 1, he's exhorting us that our conduct
14:42
would be worthy of the Gospel that we would stand fast in one
14:47
spirit with one mind striving together for the faith of the
14:52
Gospel. Telling the church that it has
14:55
been granted to us on behalf of Christ.

Not only to believe in him but to suffer for his sake, telling
15:02
the Philippians, how to stand strong for the Lord against
15:05
external. Colonel, Khan conflicts,
15:09
reminding them in us that this, you know, his suffering has
15:12
worked out for the furtherance of the gospel and he now is
15:16
going to explain how to act against internal conflicts
15:20
within the body of Christ. And so Paul opens in Philippians
15:24
2 verse 1. Therefore if there is any
15:28
consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love if any
15:32
Fellowship of the spirit if any affection That Mercy, fulfill my
15:37
Joy by being like-minded. Having the same love being of
15:42
one, Accord of one mind, let nothing be done through selfish
15:48
ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of Mind, Let each
15:52
esteem others better than himself.
15:54
Let each of you look out not only for his own interest but
15:58
also for the interests Of others.

We know church, as followers of Jesus were always going to have
16:06
external conflicts, external pressure, external persecution.

Jesus himself telling us in John 15 Verse 18, through 20.

If the world hates you, you know that it hated me before it hated
16:20
you, if you were of the world, the world would love its own yet
16:25
because you are not of the world but I chose you out of the
16:28
world, therefore the world. He hates you.

Remember the word that I said to you a servant is not greater
16:35
than his master. If they persecuted me they will
16:39
also persecute you. Mark my words church.

If we live a life all in for Jesus, the world is going to
16:49
hate us. Pastor Edge is shared a couple

weeks ago if you are in Christ. The world is always going to be
16:56
against you don't discourage Yourself by trying to believe
16:58
otherwise instead. Courage yourself in the Lord and

his faithfulness for her singing about this morning, the goodness

of God, no matter where we find ourselves this morning.

As Ian said, the cross alone, the goodness, the grace, the

love of Christ for us. But I'll be honest.

Sadly. I think it tends to be the

internal conflicts within the church that frequently caused
17:27
the most issues especially for us the church in the west.

I mean we're divided over everything denominations
17:36
politics too many preaching politics instead of the Gospel.
17:40
Every four years it's either the second coming of Christ or the
17:44
Antichrist who shows up on the scene and to be honest it's
17:48
pretty embarrassing but that's a whole nother teaching.

We're guided over vaccinations home school or public school.
17:56
Do you remember the mask thing that was fun?

We were we're divided over worship.

What songs we sing? What songs we do?

Not sing. It's amazing what we can be
18:06
divided over. Heck were harder on contemporary
18:09
worship and Haze machines than we are on Church abuse.

Sadly, our own Calvary Chapel family has become divided.

Recently, honestly, the list goes on where divided over these
18:21
things. And again my wife and I driving,
18:24
we're talking it tends to be, it's not biblical things.
18:27
Were divided over truth that we must stand upon it.
18:32
Tends to be personal convictions and preference.
18:37
But we're allowing it to bring division.
18:40
Paul would ask us is Christ divided the answer's.

No First Corinthians 1. Verse 11 says for it has been
18:47
declared to me concerning you my brethren.

By those of Chloe's house household that there are

contentions among you. Now, I say this, that each of
18:56
you says, I am of Paul or I am of Apollo's or I am of cephas,

or I am of Christ is Christ. Divided was Paul crucified for
19:06
you. You or were you baptized in the

name of Paul? And so we see Church.

Like this isn't anything new? And am I of Paul or am I of
19:15
Apollo's or him? I have cephas or am I have
19:18
Luther? Mm, I have Calvin.

But this is not of God 1st Corinthians 1:10.

Now, I plead with you Brethren by the name of our Lord, Jesus

Christ that you all speak the same thing and that there be no
19:33
divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together
19:36
in the same mind and in the same judgment when we see throughout
19:40
Paul's letters, I love it. This beautiful thread of unity,
19:45
the unity of the church, the unity of the body of Christ this
19:50
singular. Focus again and again through
19:53
Paul's letters Jesus and the Glorious gospel.

Christ came for died, for is living in and building his

church, his body. His bride, God is reconciling
20:09
everything in the world to himself one day bringing
20:13
everything together in Christ. I know that it can seem like
20:17
that's not the case, right? We look around and we see what's
20:20
happening. People are devouring themselves,
20:26
things are getting crazier and crazier but church I pray that
20:31
we are not distracted from the truth of what is happening.

Jesus is absolutely building his church.

It's happening right before our very eyes and as the scriptures
20:41
reveal nothing, not even the Gates of Hell will prevail.

Nothing is going to stop him. So I pray even as we are getting
20:50
into this study and we're allowing God, I pray that we've
20:53
Come with expectation, we've come expecting to hear from God,
20:58
through his word and by his spirit and Lord that you would
21:01
just bring this Clarity. That we so desperately need of
21:05
the reality of who you are of what you're actually doing that.

We're not distracted. That were not bringing division
21:12
within the body, but we are pressing into you and bringing
21:16
this message to a lost and perishing world.

Ephesians 1, verse 9 and 10, says, having made known to us
21:26
the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure,
21:30
which he purposed in himself that, in the dispensation of the
21:34
fullness of the times. He might gather together in one
21:38
all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on
21:43
earth. Second Corinthians, 5:18, and 19
21:46
says, now all things are of God who has reconciled us to himself
21:52
through Jesus, Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of
21:56
reconciliation. Incredible.

We don't have the ministry of condemnation.
21:59
We have the ministry of reconciliation.

That is that God was in Christ. Reconciling the world to
22:06
himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has
22:11
committed to us the word of reconciliation, the gospel, the
22:16
word of reconciliation, the atoning work of Christ, unifies,
22:21
the church We're his, this is his story and it's an incredible
22:27
story and we've been invited into his story.

His plans, his purposes. Paul says the answer the
22:37
solution to internal conflict, the answer the solution to
22:43
internal division in the church is unity and that that Unity
22:47
comes through it, flows from humility.

Verse 3, let nothing be done through selfish ambition or
22:56
conceit, but in all lowliness of Mind, Let each esteem others
23:01
better than himself. Let each of you look out, not
23:04
only for his own interest but also for the interests of other,
23:08
Paul asked some rhetorical questions here, we could read
23:12
these verses since there is consolation in Christ, since
23:18
there is comfort of Love, since there is fellowship of the
23:21
spirit since there is Affection, and mercy, fulfill my Joy, by
23:25
being like-minded. Having the same love being of
23:30
one Accord, and of one mind, Paul mentions these things in a
23:34
manner that suggests to you. And I, that these should be
23:38
obvious, of course, there is consolation in Christchurch.

Of course, there is comfort of love the the God of All Comfort,
23:46
who comforts us? Of course, there's Fellowship
23:49
this wonderful word Koinonia of the spirit sharing the Even
23:53
fellowship with God's very Spirit, the Holy Spirit, fills
23:58
and guides, and moves in our lives, in a personal, and
24:02
Powerful way and every one of us.

Those of us in Christ know, the affection and mercy of God in
24:09
our lives. And Paul says, in light of these
24:12
realities the constellation in Christ that we have the comfort
24:17
of love that we have the Fellowship of the spirit that we
24:23
Have God's affection and mercy that we have been bestowed,
24:29
fulfill my Joy by being like-minded.

Having the same love being of one Accord, and of one mind
24:35
these together, all speak of the same idea, a deep and abiding
24:40
internal Unity within the body of Christ.

And how do we experience this kind of unity humility?
24:46
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit but

in lowliness of Mind, Let each esteem other Others better than
24:53
himself. Let each of you look out, not
24:55
only for his own interest but also for the interests of others

churches, we put away selfish Ambitions, as we put away our

concede, as we put away our own personal agendas or personal
25:09
convictions. I have my own personal
25:12
convictions, I get it. As we put away our Tendencies to
25:16
be high-minded and so self-centered, and so
25:20
self-absorbed. We will naturally have a greater
25:23
concern for the interests and needs of others.

It's incredible. Will naturally have a proper
25:28
perspective in light of who we are in Christ?

And Christ is our ultimate example, is we see in verses 5
25:36
through 11, let this mind be in you which was also in Christ.

Jesus, who being In the form of God.
25:45
Did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made
25:50
himself of no reputation taking on the form of a bondservant and
25:55
coming in the likeness of men and being found in appearance.

As a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of
26:02
death, even the death of the Cross verse 9.

Therefore God has also has highly exalted him and given him
26:10
the name, which is above every name that at the name of Jesus,
26:14
every knee should bow of those in heaven and of those on Earth
26:18
and of those under the Earth and that every tongue should
26:22
confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God, the
26:28
Father. Even as I read these verses, I
26:30
pray that we don't ever miss the gravity of this, incredible
26:35
reality, maybe even just reminded of fresh this morning.

God came to us. We don't have to try to make our
26:44
way to God. We don't have to try to earn our
26:47
way to God. We don't have to pray that maybe
26:49
somehow our good will outweigh the bad.

That's not how any of it works. God came to us, Jesus God, the
26:58
son. And when we place our faith and

trust in Christ and his finished work, the debts been paid.

We owe the debt, but it's been paid on our behalf.

This is the incredible news of the Gospel.

God wants you. And I to be awed by this undone
27:18
by this, but also we see that it's something we should enter
27:22
into and imitate this humility. Let this mind be in, you means
27:29
that it's something that we have a choice about, but let this
27:33
mind shows us that it's something.

We must choose to walk in, Jesus made himself of no reputation.

Jesus Took on the form of a bondservant, humbling himself
27:47
obedient to the point of death, even the death of the Cross.

All of this, by the way, is not a display of weakness.

All of this is a display of the power of Christ.

We see in these verses, the extent of Jesus, his humility

and his obedience and what we see church is that there is no
28:06
limit to what God will do to demonstrate his love and saving
28:11
power to us. And let us not forget the Paul

isn't sharing this with the Philippians for their
28:17
theological education. He shares it with them to remind
28:21
them of our ultimate example of humility in Christ's example,
28:26
reminding them in reminding us that God Delights to show his
28:31
power through humility. God loves to show his power
28:37
through humble actions, Our ultimate example is Christ and
28:43
it's to provoke the same mind. The same humility in each of us.

It's to provoke and encourage humble christ-like, unity in the
28:52
midst of hard times. And I know we're in the midst of
28:57
hard times. The world distracted devouring
29:02
itself, divided over everything but not the church.

We are singularly focused upon Christ like-minded.

Walking In The Same Love experiencing the same.

Loved one mind of one Accord the mind of Christ.

Humbled. And in all we have Clarity and

perspective. This picture Christ example to

show you. And I to show us the church how

to follow Jesus this wonderful pattern of patient and humble

obedience. And what's incredible is this is

the work of the spirit in US. This is the the words work
29:45
inside of us. God not only calling us to this
29:49
but then accomplishing this in you and II can't do this on my
29:53
own. I'm a selfish jerk frequently.

My attitude is like hey nice to meet you.

What can you do for me? All right, but that's not.

That's not who I desire to be in the work of Christ.

In me, is for me to esteem you above myself.

That we do this in our marriages.

We do this in our families and this is the work of God in us

Christ in US. And us in Christ, all in.

And in light of Christ's example, we see verse 12 and
30:30
verse 13. Therefore my beloved as you have

always obeyed, not as in my presence only but now much more

in my absence work out your own salvation with fear and

trembling for it is God who works in you both to Will and to

do for his good pleasure. Paul Express the humility and

Obedience of Jesus. Jesus in verses 5 through 11 and

now, he shares our responsibility.

These verses are uniquely to those of us in Christ addressed
