- 0:00Speaker 1: Coming up on Relatables.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Recently, I snooped through his phone and found he still
- 0:03Speaker 2: has almost two hundred photos of her, including one nude.
- 0:06Speaker 1: She was dude. The Relatable podcast is hosted by myself,
- 0:20Speaker 1: Addie Clark ak Mummy, and my partner in crime, mister
- 0:23Speaker 1: Jake Craig ak Daddy. That's me. Can I take this?
- 0:27Speaker 1: Jake is daddy because he's like Sam Wise Gamsey. That's
- 0:31Speaker 1: that's an insult. You know, I don't like him. What
- 0:35Speaker 1: you told you. We have arguments about We've had arguments
- 0:38Speaker 1: about Samu Game. I think is so annoying. Oh he's
- 0:40Speaker 1: a great friend.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Like I understand, he's a great friend. I don't know,
- 0:43Speaker 2: he just like get some my nurvese bro.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Maybe it's a good depiction of you. He's from the
- 0:48Speaker 1: but you love Sam Wise. I was gonna I was
- 0:52Speaker 1: trying to give you a compliment, but then you took
- 0:54Speaker 1: it the wrong way. And I also saying I also
- 0:55Speaker 1: think Proto is mad annoying. I think they're both annoying.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Maybe maybe not us a couple of annoying dudes. Yeah,
- 1:04Speaker 1: I actually have a bone to pick with the baddies.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Oh shit, I thought it was gonna be me, be
- 1:09Speaker 1: me a lot later and all women out there, yeah,
- 1:14Speaker 1: bring me this man. It's with the Lord of the
- 1:18Speaker 1: Rings hate. I was listening to Sarah J. Mass's podcast
- 1:22Speaker 1: of Call Her Daddy, and to me, it seems like
- 1:26Speaker 1: she's based every single one of her books off lat
- 1:29Speaker 1: of the Rings. To be fair J J. J R. R.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Tolkien or J. R. R.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Tolkien, he's like, obviously one of the most famous fantasy
- 1:38Speaker 2: riders ever. Kind of I don't think he invented fantasy,
- 1:41Speaker 2: but like he made a bit.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I get. I think he did, at least I know.
- 1:47Speaker 1: I was listening to this and I was like everybody,
- 1:49Speaker 1: all the girls like I won't like my girlfriends, like
- 1:50Speaker 1: I want to watch a lot of the Rings. She's like, no, no,
- 1:53Speaker 1: I'll watch anything else. It's so good. Yeah.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Beth also hates I don't know what, she hates anything that.
- 2:00Speaker 2: So she loves an action movie, but like John Wick,
- 2:04Speaker 2: so it's like it's unrealistic, but it's like there's no
- 2:08Speaker 2: superpowers involved. Like she doesn't like superhero movies because like
- 2:12Speaker 2: it's just so utterly fake.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Yeah, and I love it. I get Akatar has some
- 2:17Speaker 1: sexy men. We love sexy men on this podcast re
- 2:21Speaker 1: sand Legoalless is in Lord of the Rings. He's a
- 2:24Speaker 1: sexy man. He's a great bloke, Orlando Blue. And then
- 2:27Speaker 1: what's the little Dwarf's name? Wait, you're talking about the
- 2:30Speaker 1: little redhead dwarf or some bad It's like shawt Kings.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Is that true? I don't think anybody likes I don't know.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I've been watching it a baddies, and I wanted to
- 2:40Speaker 1: get that off my chest because I was thinking about
- 2:41Speaker 1: the whole time.
- 2:42Speaker 2: And they're like they become heaps good friends, legaliss and freakin'
- 2:47Speaker 2: yeah yeah, because.
- 2:50Speaker 1: In the Hobbit, because Legalists is mad old. In the Hobbit,
- 2:53Speaker 1: this is so boring. In the Hobbit, Legalist meets this
- 2:57Speaker 1: guy's that's he's like, that's me. We lad he meets
- 3:00Speaker 1: the GHIMBLI. Yeah, Jake is daddy because he's Gimli what
- 3:06Speaker 1: And clearly I would be Legalless actually you know who
- 3:09Speaker 1: I am, mummy, because he finds absolutely anyone in Lord
- 3:13Speaker 1: of the Ring you are strata, You're not, you're anyway. Baddies,
- 3:21Speaker 1: I'm hoping you got that joke, baddies, But if you
- 3:23Speaker 1: didn't go watch a lot of the rings. I wanted
- 3:26Speaker 1: to last start the podcast with how much are they
- 3:29Speaker 1: pay you? By the way, lord of the Rings, how
- 3:32Speaker 1: chhould they pay you? I wish they were paying me
- 3:35Speaker 1: because you're not worth it. Yeah, I wanted to start
- 3:38Speaker 1: the podcast with on this podcast, the baddies know that
- 3:42Speaker 1: I struggle a little bit with the English language, and
- 3:44Speaker 1: usually you're there to help me, but recently you've been
- 3:48Speaker 1: fucking digging me a hole and then pushing me into it.
- 3:51Speaker 1: And a baddie has corrected us on a couple of
- 3:53Speaker 1: terminologies we have been saying wrong, or words we've been
- 3:56Speaker 1: saying wrong. I mean, okay, we need that, and I
- 3:58Speaker 1: wanted the correction, and both times I've been right, and
- 4:01Speaker 1: then you take me on this rigamarole and then confuse
- 4:04Speaker 1: the funk out of me, and then I think I'm wrong.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I'm pretty good at manipulating. So there we go.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Hey, I am listening to the most recent episode of
- 4:16Speaker 3: the podcast, and I wanted to put you both out
- 4:19Speaker 3: of your misery with how you say these words. And
- 4:24Speaker 3: the word is jeopardy. So Artie was right the first time,
- 4:29Speaker 3: but then he started saying it wrong.
- 4:31Speaker 4: But it's definitely Jeopardy if not Jeopardy Jake confused me and.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Not Jeff Pardy.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Definitely, it just felt like that was an idiot.
- 4:39Speaker 3: And also the word that Ottie said the other the
- 4:42Speaker 3: episode before that meant praise was commend, which definitely is right.
- 4:49Speaker 3: But then in this most recent episode, Jake was saying condemn,
- 4:52Speaker 3: which is not good. So if you condemn something, it's negative.
- 4:56Speaker 3: If you commend something, you're like clapping for them, praising them. Yeah,
- 5:01Speaker 3: I started breaking down. Yeah, so that's command and Jeff.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Thank you, Lucy. Jake's making me feel like absolutely idiot.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Usually you are to be fair. Hey, I'm trying to
- 5:14Speaker 1: uplift this podcast and bringing out.
- 5:17Speaker 2: So commend and condemned opposite meanings. Change them. Yeah, its different,
- 5:23Speaker 2: make the words much more different. And then the Jeopardy thing.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Like don't get me started.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Okay, the Jeopardy thing is like wigging me out, and
- 5:33Speaker 2: I'm like convinced it's a Mendela effect.
- 5:35Speaker 1: What's a Mandela effect?
- 5:36Speaker 2: So Mendela effect is the reason it's called a Mendela
- 5:39Speaker 2: effect at least is because a lot of people, so
- 5:42Speaker 2: Nelson Mendela is super famous and he was in prison
- 5:46Speaker 2: and a lot of people remember him dying in prison,
- 5:48Speaker 2: but then a lot of people also remember him coming
- 5:49Speaker 2: out and getting that out of prison and becoming like
- 5:52Speaker 2: the president or something like that of a country. Sorry,
- 5:56Speaker 2: not super versed in my Mendela South Africa, I believe,
- 6:00Speaker 2: Actually I'm not gonna say it with any confidence that
- 6:03Speaker 2: was anything. I gonna say that it could have been
- 6:04Speaker 2: one of them, because that's one of all the countries
- 6:06Speaker 2: in the world. And basically I'm pretty sure what ended
- 6:11Speaker 2: up happening was he actually did become president or he
- 6:15Speaker 2: actually did die in.
- 6:16Speaker 1: But they're like just the whole world's divided and I'm
- 6:18Speaker 1: remembering on. So it's called the Mandela effect. And like,
- 6:21Speaker 1: have you heard of a show called The Bandstein Bears.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Now it's an old cartoon and everyone thinks it's called
- 6:28Speaker 1: thinks it's called the Bandstein Bears.
- 6:29Speaker 2: It's actually called something different. It's a Mandela effect. Like
- 6:31Speaker 2: it's about waking up in different universes.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Or some shit. Tomato tomato pretty much. So this Nana banana,
- 6:39Speaker 1: this melpety milk, this Jeopardy thing is like I am
- 6:44Speaker 1: convinced that I have I must have woke up one
- 6:48Speaker 1: morning transported into a different universe where everything is the
- 6:51Speaker 1: same except for the fact that in my old universe,
- 6:54Speaker 1: Jeopardy was actually Jeep Ruddy and in my new universe
- 6:57Speaker 1: it's Jeopardy. I've been waiting for this moment. There's a
- 7:01Speaker 1: red pill man to my right. Why admit that you're wrong? This, yeah, man,
- 7:09Speaker 1: don't affect my old universe. Yeah.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Here's the thing, is like, so I am wrong, and like,
- 7:17Speaker 2: but I was like so shocked that I was, and
- 7:20Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm still like so confused.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I was like, it was like it's for some reason,
- 7:27Speaker 1: for something. I don't know why. I thought it was
- 7:28Speaker 1: Jeopardy and Jeopardy and then you just confuse me. So
- 7:31Speaker 1: moving forward, I think we should just assume that I'm
- 7:33Speaker 1: always right. Is that safe? Yeah? As safe as the
- 7:40Speaker 1: pull out method is. Okay?
- 7:48Speaker 2: Anyway, bad he is. We've got i g question of
- 7:50Speaker 2: the week. We're gonna rattle these ones off nice and quick.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Smart. It is key signs the date is over. Have
- 7:57Speaker 1: you ever been on a date quickly before you get
- 7:59Speaker 1: into it where you've wanted the date to be over? Yeah?
- 8:04Speaker 1: You went for ice cream, didn't you? No? What about
- 8:07Speaker 1: that girl? Come on? Even start? What do you mean,
- 8:14Speaker 1: what about that girl? Remersible? She was a woman. She
- 8:18Speaker 1: probably still is. I assume she's alive, So let's not
- 8:21Speaker 1: get it twisted. Okay, they're women, not girls on it.
- 8:26Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Do you know the one
- 8:28Speaker 1: I'm talking about? You went on one day we were
- 8:35Speaker 1: living together. She asked you out and you said yes,
- 8:40Speaker 1: and you respected it, but then you didn't connect. Oh
- 8:45Speaker 1: wait what Yeah, and you went and got as cream
- 8:48Speaker 1: and you came back and he said, no, I'm not
- 8:49Speaker 1: going on another one. Oh yes, I remember your I
- 8:55Speaker 1: remember that now, dang. I might have been on some
- 8:58Speaker 1: dates now I remember that. Yeah, Oh sorry, I remember.
- 9:05Speaker 2: That on that date. So no, I think I asked
- 9:09Speaker 2: her on the date. Okay, okay, I'm pretty confident I
- 9:11Speaker 2: asked her on the date. I'm pretty so you got
- 9:13Speaker 2: these You've got the right woman.
- 9:15Speaker 1: We went on a date.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Yeah, basically went on a date anyway, Sorry, Beth, I've
- 9:18Speaker 2: never asked gonnother girl on a date.
- 9:22Speaker 1: She goes on a date with me, and I was like, cool, cool, cool,
- 9:25Speaker 1: took her on a classic crash room date.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Just stupid fucking guy back in the day didn't want
- 9:28Speaker 2: to just like have an actual date because I'm an idiot.
- 9:30Speaker 1: AnyWho.
- 9:31Speaker 2: She goes, yeah, I'm gonna go to Europe for two
- 9:34Speaker 2: months in like a month. As soon as she said that,
- 9:36Speaker 2: I was like, well, I was like, oh, I mean
- 9:40Speaker 2: mentally checked out, and I was just like oh, I
- 9:44Speaker 2: was like, that's obviously sick. But as soon as she
- 9:46Speaker 2: said that, I just looked at I was just like, Oh,
- 9:47Speaker 2: this is now. We're just like gonna hang out for
- 9:49Speaker 2: the evening, like I'm not going to fucking like. I
- 9:53Speaker 2: was in a mindset where I'm not going to lock
- 9:55Speaker 2: you down in any sort of relationship, and then you
- 9:58Speaker 2: go to Europe like you're open have fun.
- 10:01Speaker 1: I suppose that's actually a green flag mentality.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Maybe I don't know, but I was just like, yeah, well,
- 10:04Speaker 2: I was like, oh sick first of all, and this
- 10:08Speaker 2: day's over.
- 10:09Speaker 1: To be fair, key signs the date's over. She tells
- 10:12Speaker 1: you she's going to Europe for two months in a month,
- 10:14Speaker 1: she had fun, don't have fun? Yeah anyway, Key signs
- 10:19Speaker 1: the data is over. You resort to talking about the weather.
- 10:23Speaker 1: To be fair, I like to start there really a
- 10:27Speaker 1: little bit, so the date was over before it started. No,
- 10:29Speaker 1: Like just like, oh, maybe I don't. Maybe I do,
- 10:33Speaker 1: but I feel like it's a good place to start.
- 10:34Speaker 1: And then the conversation starts to flow. How do you start? Hey,
- 10:38Speaker 1: how's it going? What do you say? This weather? Though?
- 10:45Speaker 1: Good day? In that got lucky anymore? In key signs
- 10:52Speaker 1: the date is over when the silence is loud. Oh yeah,
- 10:56Speaker 1: I've never had that luckily.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I wouldn't say I have, Like, I don't think
- 11:01Speaker 2: I've experienced too much awkward silence neither. Key signs of
- 11:05Speaker 2: date is over you both finish, wink wink. It's a
- 11:09Speaker 2: good date if you went that far and both finish.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Do you both make each other finish?
- 11:12Speaker 2: That's a dumb Key signs of data is over when
- 11:15Speaker 2: they take a deep breath and say, well, I had
- 11:19Speaker 2: a great time.
- 11:23Speaker 1: What do you do then? Though? Oh yeah, that's a
- 11:26Speaker 1: good point. Just I mean, hey, yeah, me too much
- 11:29Speaker 1: of a muchness?
- 11:31Speaker 4: Yeah, let's do this again?
- 11:33Speaker 1: Yeah all right, this one's an action. Key signs of
- 11:39Speaker 1: data is over. Ah yeah, people do that? Have you
- 11:47Speaker 1: never been in kind of like a slow, awkward conversation
- 11:50Speaker 1: like yeah, I really I want to like exercise the
- 11:56Speaker 1: right just to like not on a date, but like
- 11:59Speaker 1: when you're in an conversation, just turn around and leave,
- 12:03Speaker 1: like mid conversation or something, well like, instead of doing that,
- 12:06Speaker 1: just oh, I don't want to be trying to think
- 12:09Speaker 1: of something to keep it going. You don't want to
- 12:10Speaker 1: be here. Let's just fucking turn around and go our
- 12:12Speaker 1: separate ways and never talk ever again.
- 12:14Speaker 2: I actually do something that maybe annoys me or is
- 12:18Speaker 2: more of a pet peeve or something I find is
- 12:21Speaker 2: interesting with humans and manners is when you cross paths
- 12:25Speaker 2: with someone that you know well enough that you should
- 12:27Speaker 2: stop and say hi, and maybe you haven't seen them
- 12:29Speaker 2: for a while. Both of you can tell via body language,
- 12:33Speaker 2: via the wet tone of voice, via where you're going
- 12:35Speaker 2: with conversation that all you wanted to do was say hi,
- 12:38Speaker 2: and you both want to get out of there, but
- 12:39Speaker 2: you're both trying to be polite and ask how the
- 12:42Speaker 2: other's doing and what they've been up to, and oh,
- 12:44Speaker 2: it's great to see you, blah blah blah blah blah,
- 12:46Speaker 2: Like why like just fucking say high and leave?
- 12:51Speaker 1: I was raised too, well, what because I feel like
- 12:56Speaker 1: I have to be polite? Fair, fair key signs of
- 12:59Speaker 1: data is over when he doesn't want dessert? Yeah, how
- 13:03Speaker 1: could you go on a date and not want dessert. Yeah,
- 13:06Speaker 1: it means you're not having fun. Yeah, true, Yeah, he
- 13:08Speaker 1: doesn't want to because he wants to leave. I remember
- 13:09Speaker 1: I was on a date once and it was late
- 13:11Speaker 1: and we went to like three different places to try
- 13:13Speaker 1: and find assert because they're all close. Yeah, you got
- 13:15Speaker 1: to keep. Yeah, it's part of the fun. And last
- 13:18Speaker 1: resort is like we're gonna have to get macas someday,
- 13:23Speaker 1: love results snacks in my fridge. Okay, last last one.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 13:31Speaker 2: I feel like I do this just in conversations, and
- 13:33Speaker 2: if you have to bring this out for a date,
- 13:34Speaker 2: then it's definitely over key signs the date is over.
- 13:38Speaker 1: You bring out the Wow, that's wild. I do that.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I've never done it on a date, but I do
- 13:45Speaker 1: do that in conversations. Really yeah, I hyperbolized. Yeah, shit,
- 13:54Speaker 1: I respect that. I respects him hyperbole. Yeah, I respect that.
- 13:58Speaker 1: I respect that. Have you ever what's the worst first
- 14:01Speaker 1: day you've been on? Actually we're the same brain. I
- 14:05Speaker 1: was going to bring this up after you finished. Let
- 14:07Speaker 1: me take you on a story day, you know it.
- 14:09Speaker 1: But this is the worst date of my life. Actually,
- 14:12Speaker 1: to be fair, like it wasn't her fault, but we
- 14:14Speaker 1: just didn't connect and the whole scene was a terrible idea.
- 14:19Speaker 1: I know what you're about to say, Is this a date?
- 14:21Speaker 1: Go on? Yeah, it was. It was considered a double date.
- 14:23Speaker 1: So our good friend was seeing this girl and her
- 14:29Speaker 1: friend fancied me and I thought she was cute and
- 14:34Speaker 1: asked if we wanted to do a double date, and
- 14:36Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, sure, let's do this. And the
- 14:39Speaker 1: plan was we both had full drives. I don't know
- 14:42Speaker 1: why this was the plan. I think our friend at
- 14:44Speaker 1: the time was really into it, because I know I
- 14:46Speaker 1: was never really into it, but to go pick up
- 14:49Speaker 1: edibles Brownie's and go to this little lookout on the
- 14:54Speaker 1: beach and then just eat the edibles and the chat.
- 14:59Speaker 1: I mean, he's a man. I think it were twenty.
- 15:01Speaker 1: He's a man. And I had a rooftop ten on
- 15:03Speaker 1: my kit at the time, so I drove on the
- 15:06Speaker 1: beach a little bit and we set my rooftop ten
- 15:09Speaker 1: up and it had a skylight and we all sat
- 15:12Speaker 1: in It was a big double rooftop ten. We all
- 15:13Speaker 1: sat in it and like talked and stuff, and we're
- 15:15Speaker 1: getting pretty high. I remember getting really really high and no,
- 15:18Speaker 1: this is what happened. We went to go do him,
- 15:20Speaker 1: and we all agreed to do him, and then me
- 15:22Speaker 1: and did him, and then the girls didn't want to
- 15:24Speaker 1: do him. Ah, so you and the friend did them. Yeah,
- 15:26Speaker 1: so we were high as fuck, and then these girls weren't.
- 15:30Speaker 1: And then, for some reason, I remember vividly, I was
- 15:33Speaker 1: getting punched a lot, like her way of flirting was
- 15:35Speaker 1: to punch me. And I was high, and I thought
- 15:38Speaker 1: I was on a date with Mike Tyson and my
- 15:40Speaker 1: arm was starting to hurt. I was like, oh my god.
- 15:43Speaker 1: And me and this friend went to go do a
- 15:45Speaker 1: debrief in the surf club toilets and he was high
- 15:49Speaker 1: as a kite. I remember looking at his eyes and
- 15:50Speaker 1: they were so red, and then he kept saying to
- 15:53Speaker 1: me it was wigging me out. He goes, we're on holiday,
- 15:56Speaker 1: We're on holiday. Holiday, We're on holiday. And I'm like,
- 15:58Speaker 1: we talking about this, We're on holiday, We're on holiday.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I was like, all right up. Anyway, the date wasn't
- 16:07Speaker 1: going anywhere. I was too high, this friend was too high,
- 16:10Speaker 1: and these girls, I assume we're having a terrible time. Yea, yeah,
- 16:14Speaker 1: but I couldn't really process. I don't know how to
- 16:18Speaker 1: quite phrase this, but the date was over and everyone
- 16:21Speaker 1: had to get home. We got home somehow, Yeah, and
- 16:25Speaker 1: the girl went to her house, and then I went
- 16:27Speaker 1: one of our friends. Our friends lived really nearby, and
- 16:30Speaker 1: I can't go home, like I'm too high. I got
- 16:32Speaker 1: to like chilli out for a little bit. Our friend
- 16:34Speaker 1: lived nearby, and anyway, I got to his front like garden,
- 16:38Speaker 1: and I was walking up there and I just feel
- 16:40Speaker 1: the urge to vomit. Oh and I literally like on
- 16:46Speaker 1: little council strip before you get into his lawn. He's
- 16:49Speaker 1: vomited everywhere. And I just sat there like depressed, like
- 16:53Speaker 1: I reckon, It's solid twenty minutes, half an hour. He's
- 16:56Speaker 1: contemplating my life. I'm like, what am I doing for
- 16:58Speaker 1: my life? That's the word state I've ever been. I
- 17:01Speaker 1: assume you haven't been on the second one. Well obviously not,
- 17:04Speaker 1: but you didn't go on so no, no, no, no no.
- 17:06Speaker 1: I think I dug myself my own hole. But also
- 17:09Speaker 1: the punching wasn't helping. No, that makes a lot of sense.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I'm not sure if I've been on a.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Double date and that wasn't Like I had a girlfriend
- 17:18Speaker 2: and the friend I went with was also like, it's
- 17:20Speaker 2: like their girl.
- 17:21Speaker 1: I've been on another one with the same friend.
- 17:24Speaker 2: You just loved double dates, mate, No, you love so much,
- 17:27Speaker 2: Like why don't we have two dates in one?
- 17:30Speaker 1: I'm the ultimate wingman, mate, geez, I remember I went
- 17:35Speaker 1: bowling with the same friend, different women, and you did
- 17:43Speaker 1: it for the friend again, he really fancied the girl
- 17:47Speaker 1: and he didn't have a chance.
- 17:49Speaker 2: The common denominator in this is that you just don't
- 17:51Speaker 2: fancy women.
- 17:52Speaker 1: It sounds like you just don't fancy anyom. No, this
- 17:55Speaker 1: girl was really really nice. I couldn't fault her by
- 17:59Speaker 1: any means. But this friend didn't have a chance with
- 18:01Speaker 1: this girl. But the friend I was talking to was
- 18:04Speaker 1: friends with her, and I was like, oh, can you
- 18:05Speaker 1: please organize this? And our friend like, maybe isn't the
- 18:07Speaker 1: greatest look up, but he's got a great person out.
- 18:10Speaker 1: I was like, I just got to get him in
- 18:11Speaker 1: front of her. She'll fall in love. That's my that's
- 18:15Speaker 1: what that's my role as a friend. So it's like,
- 18:19Speaker 1: and to my credit, it worked. Oh yeah, he got
- 18:24Speaker 1: it done. Let's go. Yeah. So double dates. Yeah, I've
- 18:29Speaker 1: never been on a double date. I'm so sure of
- 18:31Speaker 1: it you me, Beth and Cassie. We no wrong, I've
- 18:33Speaker 1: been to the movies. So I'm at double date like
- 18:37Speaker 1: where it was like my first time I went on
- 18:39Speaker 1: a double date with a friend of ours who it
- 18:41Speaker 1: was him his girlfriend, and then it was me and
- 18:44Speaker 1: the girl I wanted to date with. It was like
- 18:47Speaker 1: her and I's first time meeting, and it was like
- 18:50Speaker 1: a date, but it was also kind of like I think.
- 18:53Speaker 2: I just remember getting a phone call from our friend
- 18:55Speaker 2: being like, hey, do you want to come to the movies.
- 18:57Speaker 2: It's like me, his girlfriend and then other girl, and
- 19:00Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, I like fancy, Yeah, and I
- 19:04Speaker 2: end up dating. Oh was it that one?
- 19:08Speaker 1: Yeah, that's how we met. I never remember. Yeah, what
- 19:12Speaker 1: I was going to say, though, all jokes aside, a
- 19:14Speaker 1: double date is actually a really good thing. Yeah. Well safety, safety, safety,
- 19:18Speaker 1: and then also you're kind of just comfortable because you
- 19:21Speaker 1: have a little bit of like home with you your best
- 19:23Speaker 1: friend exactly.
- 19:23Speaker 2: That's not about it. It's actually a good point double data.
- 19:26Speaker 2: They should be maybe a bit more curious. I feel
- 19:28Speaker 2: like they're so.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Giddy and you have your little debriefs, you go off
- 19:31Speaker 1: and like you say, I said that the funny thing
- 19:34Speaker 1: about it is like you know, it's like maybe you're
- 19:37Speaker 1: out of double date and you're doing an activity or
- 19:39Speaker 1: you're at dinner or whatever, and so it's the the
- 19:42Speaker 1: two women. They're like, oh, we need to go to
- 19:44Speaker 1: twell you want to come? And they go. They debrief
- 19:46Speaker 1: and they're like, Okay, what about how we said this?
- 19:47Speaker 1: What about? Like they get to debrief in the freaking moments,
- 19:51Speaker 1: so good. And then and when they go to tay,
- 19:53Speaker 1: you guys literally, okay, how am I doing? Like you're like,
- 19:55Speaker 1: this is ship. I'm so nervous. It's so fun too,
- 19:59Speaker 1: because you've never seen your best mate like in this
- 20:02Speaker 1: scenario and how he acts and they're.
- 20:06Speaker 4: So different and you also it's so funny you just
- 20:10Speaker 4: get to see each other act in this different way. Yeah,
- 20:13Speaker 4: and like because like you're kind of trying to impress them,
- 20:15Speaker 4: but you're trying to be yourself. And then this one
- 20:18Speaker 4: friend I've been on two double dates with goes down
- 20:20Speaker 4: like the funny avenue and I'm there.
- 20:21Speaker 1: He tries to be like the monny guy. Yeah, this
- 20:23Speaker 1: guy's not that fun. He's not like, oh hate you
- 20:30Speaker 1: write this. So I was listening to a podcast and
- 20:34Speaker 1: they were saying. They were talking about how.
- 20:41Speaker 2: She said in like her early twenties, she wouldn't have
- 20:45Speaker 2: cared about this, but now she's in her early thirties,
- 20:47Speaker 2: it's something she cares about. When you get asked on
- 20:52Speaker 2: a date as a woman, and you know you live
- 20:57Speaker 2: like in a city, so it doesn't it's just really
- 21:00Speaker 2: is not it does not make any sense for him
- 21:02Speaker 2: to pick you up. Or it's also a safety thing
- 21:05Speaker 2: of like you have to tell them where you live
- 21:06Speaker 2: then type of thing. So he's like, so you plan
- 21:10Speaker 2: to meet at the restaurant. Do you still go if
- 21:14Speaker 2: he doesn't order you an uber to get there?
- 21:17Speaker 1: Yeah? I think so.
- 21:18Speaker 2: And so what she was saying is like in her
- 21:20Speaker 2: early twenties to mid twenties, like she would have just
- 21:22Speaker 2: gone still, but she's like in my early thirties, like
- 21:24Speaker 2: if he's not organizing how I'm getting there, I'm not going.
- 21:27Speaker 2: And I was like, kind of fucking, that's kind of sick.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I kind of disagree that. I was like, that's kind
- 21:33Speaker 1: of sick because it's your life, Like you chose to
- 21:36Speaker 1: live in a city, yeah, and like it's your but
- 21:40Speaker 1: he's asked you on the date. Yeah, Like he's asked you.
- 21:44Speaker 2: To take time out of your evening to go on
- 21:47Speaker 2: a date with him, so it's like, why shouldn't he
- 21:51Speaker 2: get you there?
- 21:51Speaker 1: I gesture, I see it. I kind of like, okay.
- 21:56Speaker 1: I was kind of like, that's kind of like I
- 21:59Speaker 1: don't like it too because you don't know him anything,
- 22:01Speaker 1: but you feel like you would if you're having a
- 22:03Speaker 1: bad date and he's just spent fifty dollars on a bar,
- 22:05Speaker 1: You're like, oh, he's bought this for me. I'm as
- 22:06Speaker 1: well stay. I mean yeah, that's like maybe, but I
- 22:11Speaker 1: guess the same you would feel the same way if
- 22:13Speaker 1: you spent fifty dollars on an uber and the date's
- 22:16Speaker 1: going shit, and you're like, oh, but I spent fifty
- 22:17Speaker 1: dollars on the uber, so I may as well just stay,
- 22:19Speaker 1: have dinner, yeah, and then go. You could feel I know,
- 22:22Speaker 1: I feel about it. I don't know. I kind of
- 22:24Speaker 1: fucking like it. Like I think if you got if
- 22:26Speaker 1: you live in a city and a man asks you
- 22:28Speaker 1: on a date and like actually is like, I want
- 22:29Speaker 1: to take you here, I've booked the restaurant blah blah blah,
- 22:31Speaker 1: and he doesn't like he expects you to get yourself
- 22:36Speaker 1: bore being ah him. Would you say, playing Devil's advocate,
- 22:41Speaker 1: if a girl asked you on a date, would you
- 22:43Speaker 1: expect her to buy you and uber? No? Probably not. No,
- 22:47Speaker 1: I would tell you.
- 22:48Speaker 2: I would tell her like if she asked me on
- 22:50Speaker 2: a date, I think I would probably either say I'll
- 22:52Speaker 2: pick you up.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Yeah. No, Yeah, but like that exact reason that you
- 22:55Speaker 1: don't want to find out where you live.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that the only reason that a different
- 23:01Speaker 2: the Devil's advocate in that is because as a man,
- 23:05Speaker 2: not once I ever questioned my safety when it comes
- 23:07Speaker 2: to a woman or even another man. And so it's
- 23:11Speaker 2: like the reason that like that question just isn't really
- 23:17Speaker 2: a question, the same way you can't be racist towards
- 23:19Speaker 2: white people, or you can't be misogynistic towards men or
- 23:22Speaker 2: whatever it's called it.
- 23:23Speaker 1: There's like a word for it. So I think that
- 23:25Speaker 1: that doesn't it's like, that's not a valid question in
- 23:27Speaker 1: that scenario. I don't think. I don't think that you
- 23:30Speaker 1: can play Devil's advocate in that way in my opinion. Yeah,
- 23:32Speaker 1: I'm thinking more of a sense of like I can't
- 23:36Speaker 1: get into words what I'm thinking. The safety thing is
- 23:38Speaker 1: obviously not the right question. But there's like a I
- 23:43Speaker 1: don't know, it's like a hierarchy thing that you shouldn't
- 23:47Speaker 1: expect that, you should go on the date anyway, and
- 23:49Speaker 1: it's nice if he does it, but you shouldn't expect it,
- 23:51Speaker 1: and if he does it, it's really really good. Yeah maybe, yeah, yeah,
- 23:54Speaker 1: I mean I was just when she said it, I
- 23:56Speaker 1: was just kind of like, that's like kind of fucking boss.
- 23:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:59Speaker 1: I think if you expect it, that's what's wrong. You
- 24:02Speaker 1: think expecting it's wrong. Yeah, you shouldn't expect that. I
- 24:04Speaker 1: don't think, because you are an independent person and you
- 24:07Speaker 1: want him to be an independent person, expecting it's wrong.
- 24:11Speaker 1: I don't think you should expecting it wrong. I know
- 24:13Speaker 1: I wouldn't. It might be a hot take. I wouldn't
- 24:15Speaker 1: want a woman to expect me if she said I'm
- 24:18Speaker 1: in the city, I'll meet you there, and she expected
- 24:20Speaker 1: me to say that. I don't think I would want
- 24:22Speaker 1: to go on a date with her. Really, I don't
- 24:24Speaker 1: think so. No, she's already I don't think so. He
- 24:27Speaker 1: is playing his hierarchy role in the relationship already, which
- 24:29Speaker 1: I don't really like. I like two independent people coming
- 24:31Speaker 1: together and you show me about your life and I
- 24:33Speaker 1: get to experience that with you. Not you already expected
- 24:35Speaker 1: me to do something from you, if that makes sense,
- 24:38Speaker 1: from you or do something for you for you, well,
- 24:40Speaker 1: you know you are expecting something from me straight away.
- 24:43Speaker 1: But is she Yeah, she expects that. She has an expectation.
- 24:47Speaker 2: I suppose where it's like if I'm asked on a
- 24:48Speaker 2: date and I expect him to get me there.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I disagree. I don't like it. You don't like it, Dang,
- 24:56Speaker 1: I think that's a I don't think that's it. I
- 24:58Speaker 1: think that's a valid expectation agreed to do. Yeah, baddies,
- 25:01Speaker 1: what are your thoughts? That's an interesting is an interesting one,
- 25:05Speaker 1: and I do see two point of views, and I
- 25:07Speaker 1: understand why you would want it, but also I don't
- 25:09Speaker 1: think I would personally want that fair and I can
- 25:12Speaker 1: see it being a hot take. It's time for dilemmas.
- 25:21Speaker 1: If you want to get a dilemma read by us, firstly,
- 25:23Speaker 1: get yourself into a situation with a man, and then
- 25:26Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure you will have a dilemma, but no
- 25:29Speaker 1: bad his fingers crossed. You will have a good relationship
- 25:33Speaker 1: in your life. But otherwise dilemmas is pinned in the
- 25:36Speaker 1: comments and they're all anonymous. All right, this one is crazy. Okay.
- 25:42Speaker 1: I've been dating my boyfriend for nine months, nine and
- 25:46Speaker 1: he still hasn't told me he loves me. That's a
- 25:50Speaker 1: long time. It is. Now before everybody jumps through conclusions.
- 25:56Speaker 1: The confusing part is that he actually treats me incredibly well,
- 26:00Speaker 1: like I feel very loved by him. He cares about me,
- 26:03Speaker 1: supports me, shows up for me, does all the right things.
- 26:06Speaker 1: His actions scream I love you. The words just never
- 26:11Speaker 1: seem to leave his mouth. Okay. Meanwhile, I said I
- 26:15Speaker 1: love you first about five months in his response, I know,
- 26:23Speaker 1: not I know, I love you too, just I know.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Then about a month later, we're in bed saying good
- 26:28Speaker 1: night and I said it again. Instead of saying it back,
- 26:31Speaker 1: he just gave me a massive hug and started absolutely
- 26:34Speaker 1: smothering me with kisses like an aggressive amount of affection.
- 26:38Speaker 1: It honestly felt like he was overcompensating for not saying
- 26:41Speaker 1: the words. Then another month later, I said it again
- 26:44Speaker 1: and he literally said thank you. Thank You's freezy gosh,
- 26:49Speaker 1: she said it again, thank you. Anyways, fast forward another
- 26:52Speaker 1: month and things have seemed to escalate because it was
- 26:55Speaker 1: Australia Day and all of my four brothers decided it
- 26:58Speaker 1: was their civic duty to interrogate him about why he
- 27:00Speaker 1: hasn't told me he loves me yet. And when I
- 27:02Speaker 1: say interrogate, I mean they absolutely tore him to shreds
- 27:06Speaker 1: in front of everyone. Oh that's not great. So now
- 27:10Speaker 1: it's turned into this whole thing like an actual war
- 27:13Speaker 1: has happened between my family and him, and somehow I
- 27:15Speaker 1: ended up stuck in the middle of it, even though
- 27:17Speaker 1: I didn't ask for any of that to happen, which
- 27:20Speaker 1: now makes the whole topic super super sensitive because I
- 27:23Speaker 1: can't even bring it up with him without feeling like
- 27:25Speaker 1: there's pressure on the situation. And the last thing I
- 27:28Speaker 1: want for him to say is I love you, just
- 27:30Speaker 1: because he feels pressured or because he knows it's what
- 27:33Speaker 1: I want to hear. But also, it has been nine
- 27:36Speaker 1: months and at this point I feel like I'm living
- 27:38Speaker 1: some sort of weird psychological experiment. I know he cares
- 27:42Speaker 1: about me, but the words are just permanently stuck in
- 27:45Speaker 1: his throat. Funny, Well, no, sorry, not funny. That is
- 27:50Speaker 1: a very hard dilemma. Yeah, that is very very why
- 27:55Speaker 1: hasn't he said it? That is like do we let's actually,
- 28:02Speaker 1: before we get into the dilemma, do we like what
- 28:05Speaker 1: the brothers did or not? I don't know.
- 28:10Speaker 2: I don't like what the brothers did because it puts
- 28:14Speaker 2: their sister in a weird situation. Yeah, it's very they're
- 28:18Speaker 2: getting into their relationship then like.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Brotherly the is Yeah, it's injecting them in the situation.
- 28:25Speaker 1: I don't think that I would hate that. Yeah, Like
- 28:29Speaker 1: I think that our relationship is ours. Like you can't
- 28:34Speaker 1: be talking to people that have bias towards one party, yeah,
- 28:37Speaker 1: and then having at it, Yeah, start questioning the party
- 28:40Speaker 1: they don't have bias towards. So I just feel bad
- 28:43Speaker 1: for the sister really so so the girlfriend for what
- 28:46Speaker 1: the brothers did, like the question question the boyfriend, Yeah,
- 28:50Speaker 1: I did. That didn't need to happen. That was a
- 28:52Speaker 1: bit that's a bit immature on their part. Do you
- 28:54Speaker 1: think it's a case of he does actually love her
- 28:57Speaker 1: or he doesn't. That's why he hasn't said it, honestly,
- 29:01Speaker 1: Like if he in my opinion, like if he loved her,
- 29:08Speaker 1: would he not say it? Yeah? And it comes back
- 29:12Speaker 1: to men have this weird ideology that if they say
- 29:17Speaker 1: I love you or will you be my girlfriend, they
- 29:20Speaker 1: have this weird commitment issue where like they're locked in
- 29:24Speaker 1: and they can't get out. I don't know why.
- 29:27Speaker 2: Where was it such a nice gesture, very very very
- 29:33Speaker 2: hard one. So in Beth and myself's relationship. So I like,
- 29:40Speaker 2: I knew at a point from I knew I loved
- 29:44Speaker 2: her at one point, and then I actually didn't say.
- 29:47Speaker 1: It straight away. Yeah, I didn't say it straight away.
- 29:51Speaker 2: I can't really like, I no excuse or no no valid,
- 29:54Speaker 2: real valid reason. I just I knew it and I
- 29:56Speaker 2: didn't say it, and I knew I was going to
- 29:58Speaker 2: say it very soon, but she ended up saying it first,
- 30:02Speaker 2: and I said it back straight away because I knew.
- 30:05Speaker 1: So I'm not saying what I did was right or
- 30:06Speaker 1: what I did was wrong.
- 30:07Speaker 2: But all I am saying is that when she said it,
- 30:10Speaker 2: I said it back because I knew. But I'm trying
- 30:15Speaker 2: to think about how I would feel. Is if I
- 30:17Speaker 2: was to tell my girlfriend I love her five months
- 30:21Speaker 2: in and she says I know, and then doesn't say
- 30:28Speaker 2: it back. Hmm, Yeah, I wouldn't like that at all.
- 30:32Speaker 2: I think honestly, I think I would like, I'd be pissed.
- 30:37Speaker 2: I think i'd but I think i'd break up with
- 30:39Speaker 2: someone if they didn't love me, do you I think, like,
- 30:42Speaker 2: thinking about it from this perspective, I don't know how
- 30:45Speaker 2: I would really feel in the moment, but I kind.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Of would just feel stupid. I agree, like do you
- 30:50Speaker 1: love me or not? But it's so hard too because
- 30:52Speaker 1: actions speak loud in words and he's such a perfect boyfriend.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Actions do speak louder than words, but also words fucking
- 31:01Speaker 2: sometimes matter a lot.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Like nine months is a long time. If she said
- 31:06Speaker 1: like three or six, i'd be chilling, But nine is
- 31:08Speaker 1: almost a year obviously. But yeah, but okay, so.
- 31:12Speaker 2: The nine months of not saying it, it's a long time.
- 31:16Speaker 2: But if neither one of them had said it, I
- 31:18Speaker 2: would be thinking, okay, like maybe this is a little better.
- 31:21Speaker 2: But the fact that you've said it multiple times he goes.
- 31:23Speaker 2: One of the times he says I know, the next
- 31:25Speaker 2: time he says thank you, like he's deflecting.
- 31:30Speaker 1: I think I'm actually gonna agree with you. I think
- 31:35Speaker 1: this is one hard conversation to have. Ask him, why
- 31:40Speaker 1: you haven't said I love you yet? If he doesn't
- 31:43Speaker 1: have a very very valid reason I would break up
- 31:46Speaker 1: with him, say, I don't see what would be a
- 31:49Speaker 1: valid reason if he said, oh, I'm still not sure,
- 31:50Speaker 1: but what it's been nine months, I'm breaking up with you. Yeah.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Also, here's the thing is, I don't want to jump
- 31:55Speaker 2: to any conclusions here, but I am gonna. I'm assuming
- 31:59Speaker 2: that the reason your brother pepping him with the question
- 32:00Speaker 2: is because you've told your brothers that you've said I
- 32:02Speaker 2: love you and he hasn't.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Obviously.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Yeah, So I think that what you should just one
- 32:07Speaker 2: thing you should take from that is like the fact
- 32:09Speaker 2: that although you should talk to someone, it shouldn't be
- 32:12Speaker 2: someone with that it shouldn't be a direct family member.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Maybe it shouldn't, you know what I mean, Like in
- 32:18Speaker 2: them getting involved, if it did make it more complicated.
- 32:21Speaker 1: I agree, But it's also it's not a fault because
- 32:23Speaker 1: like you probably were just venting and then they took
- 32:26Speaker 1: it to the next step. So valid, And also I
- 32:30Speaker 1: don't know, they've kind of shot you in the foot
- 32:31Speaker 1: there because now when you bring it up, he's just
- 32:33Speaker 1: going to be like, oh, that was so fucking annoying,
- 32:36Speaker 1: be like, oh I was so painful. Look three times too,
- 32:40Speaker 1: three strikes and you're out fucking I just can't. I
- 32:44Speaker 1: don't know the guy, I don't know. You put me
- 32:46Speaker 1: on the spot, ask me why I haven't let me
- 32:49Speaker 1: see what I say. Why haven't you said I love
- 32:52Speaker 1: you back? Because my last relationship I said it and
- 32:59Speaker 1: really call so much damage And I just don't know
- 33:01Speaker 1: if I'm ready to say it again. Yeah. First thing
- 33:03Speaker 1: that came to mind. If that is what someone said
- 33:07Speaker 1: to me, I would break up with them. I'd be like, well, okay,
- 33:10Speaker 1: well then why you like, why do you waste my time? Exactly? Yeah?
- 33:14Speaker 1: And then I guess actually, and every individual is different.
- 33:19Speaker 1: So the BADDI listening right now? We nine months is
- 33:23Speaker 1: too long for us. Set a boundary of yourself. Might
- 33:26Speaker 1: be nine months, might be yeah, it might be a
- 33:28Speaker 1: year and a half. But there should be a set
- 33:30Speaker 1: period of time. I think with this motherfucker should say it.
- 33:33Speaker 1: And that is a very individualized preference, but for us,
- 33:37Speaker 1: nine months is enough. For most people, I think nine
- 33:40Speaker 1: months is enough. But you make that how, don't you know? Yeah?
- 33:45Speaker 1: I reckon, you need six weeks, break up with him,
- 33:48Speaker 1: don't have sex with him anymore. Yeah, there you go,
- 33:51Speaker 1: hold out? Yeah, see if he says that then, and
- 33:53Speaker 1: he's like, I really want to fuck you, and you're like, thanks,
- 33:58Speaker 1: I know, I know you do.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Fuck off fucker all right. Anyway, I've got to preface
- 34:04Speaker 2: the people, or sorry, not the people. The this battie
- 34:09Speaker 2: is from Hawaii because, like she says.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Something about mainland and stuff, wakiki is that in Hawaii?
- 34:14Speaker 1: Is in Hawaii?
- 34:17Speaker 2: She says at the end of it, Aloha from Hawaii.
- 34:19Speaker 2: As also said, it's not Hawaii like you do say
- 34:21Speaker 2: it differently. It's like I don't want to butcher it anyway, okay.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Oh. Also, she says at the end, you guys are
- 34:28Speaker 1: funny for Australians or Australians. How sorry.
- 34:35Speaker 2: I've been with my boyfriend for two years and he's amazing,
- 34:38Speaker 2: but I recently discovered he still has nearly two hundred
- 34:41Speaker 2: photos of his ex two hundred they dated for six years.
- 34:46Speaker 2: This bothers me for a few reasons. It should girl,
- 34:48Speaker 2: I've told him I feeling secure about her. She's a model, student, pilot, wealthy, tall, blonde,
- 34:55Speaker 2: very different from me. A couple months into the relationship,
- 34:57Speaker 2: I saw a photo of him and her on his
- 35:00Speaker 2: homescreen widget. I said, I understood the breakup was fresh
- 35:04Speaker 2: and I wasn't asking him to delete everything right now,
- 35:06Speaker 2: but seeing them later would really hurt me. After a
- 35:09Speaker 2: year and a half together, I see another photo on
- 35:13Speaker 2: his home screen widget. I told him how it made
- 35:15Speaker 2: me feel, and he said he'd delete them. He's generally
- 35:18Speaker 2: been honest early on, so he's generally been honest early on.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Before we officially started dating, he told me he had
- 35:25Speaker 2: just broken up with her. She doesn't live with him anymore,
- 35:28Speaker 2: but she will be coming back to finish moving her
- 35:30Speaker 2: things back to the mainland or as you Ossis call it,
- 35:33Speaker 2: the States. He even told me that when she came
- 35:37Speaker 2: back to pack her things, they were sleeping in the
- 35:39Speaker 2: same bed temporarily, but insisted nothing happened. I chose to
- 35:43Speaker 2: trust him because I'm thinking he didn't have to tell
- 35:45Speaker 2: me this and could have just lied. Maybe I'm just
- 35:48Speaker 2: being naive. Recently I snooped through his phone and found
- 35:51Speaker 2: he still has almost two hundred photos of her, including
- 35:54Speaker 2: one nude she was food. She was fully naked, but
- 35:57Speaker 2: just covering her private parts with her hands. The tricky
- 36:00Speaker 2: part is he did delete the photos that showed up
- 36:03Speaker 2: on the widget, and he has well over a thousand photos,
- 36:05Speaker 2: mostly of cars, so he may not realize these are
- 36:08Speaker 2: still there.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Now.
- 36:10Speaker 2: I'm torn between admitting I snooped and bringing it up
- 36:12Speaker 2: or saying nothing and dealing with it myself. By the way, Hello,
- 36:16Speaker 2: helloa from White Love the podcast. You guys are fine,
- 36:18Speaker 2: frustratas two years risky. You got to break up with
- 36:21Speaker 2: this guy, not brokey so bad? You got to break
- 36:25Speaker 2: up with this ah.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Hell not that is so breakup worthy one hundred percent.
- 36:30Speaker 1: I think you should break up him right now, but
- 36:32Speaker 1: not that it matters. How did the widgets work? I
- 36:36Speaker 1: don't give a fuck. Yeah, I don't give a but
- 36:40Speaker 1: I think that answers her question because it seems to
- 36:43Speaker 1: me that he's gone onto her. The widgets are selected,
- 36:46Speaker 1: and man, sure pictures of the X doesn't come up anymore,
- 36:49Speaker 1: and he's kept him and gone off and wanked to him.
- 36:53Speaker 2: She said she noticed that in the photos the widgets,
- 36:55Speaker 2: the photos she saw of the widgets were deleted, so
- 36:57Speaker 2: he deleted those ones.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Oh, but he hasn't deleted the other two hundred he's got,
- 37:02Speaker 1: and like having.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Over a thousand photos in my opinion, also not that many, like.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Literally photos, I have seven thousand, a thousand photos is
- 37:12Speaker 1: not has like thirty thousand.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Yeah, bethany same thing. I have sixteen eight hundred and
- 37:17Speaker 2: seven item K in my library, sixteen k items that's videos.
- 37:21Speaker 1: And photos, still so many one thousand. I just it's
- 37:25Speaker 1: been too long. I don't like it. And then also
- 37:29Speaker 1: just we made a clip actually and we said you
- 37:33Speaker 1: should delete everything from your previous partners, and some people
- 37:36Speaker 1: really don't agree with us. I fully, wholeheartedly believe that
- 37:43Speaker 1: you should delete everything. I agree, And then some people
- 37:46Speaker 1: that justification is oh, but I've had such good memories
- 37:49Speaker 1: with them. I don't care why.
- 37:51Speaker 2: And his thing is like thinking right now, God forbid
- 37:54Speaker 2: Beth and I were ever to break up, Like, I
- 37:59Speaker 2: obviously love Henry like nearly as much as I love Beth.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Yeah you know your dog, yeah yeah, yeah, And but Henry, if.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Beth and I broke up, he is beth dog. He
- 38:12Speaker 2: would go with Beth and Darcy would stay with me. Yeah,
- 38:14Speaker 2: And I'm sure she would love to keep photos of Darcy,
- 38:16Speaker 2: and I would love to keep photos of Henry. I
- 38:18Speaker 2: would love to keep seeing Henry. But I'm also not
- 38:20Speaker 2: the type to do that, like.
- 38:22Speaker 1: I it sounds so harsh right now, but like if
- 38:26Speaker 1: Beth and I were to break up, there would be
- 38:28Speaker 1: a point in time before I was like once I knew,
- 38:31Speaker 1: I was ready like moved on and ready to start
- 38:33Speaker 1: dating again, Like I would delete everything. Yeah. To me,
- 38:38Speaker 1: it shows you've healed, and this guy's never really healed. Yeah.
- 38:42Speaker 2: But again, I guess like people being like I had,
- 38:46Speaker 2: you know that was so it was a very happy
- 38:48Speaker 2: time of my life, Like, that's lots. I have lots
- 38:50Speaker 2: of great memories with that person. I think I can
- 38:55Speaker 2: also see that now.
- 38:57Speaker 1: I think I can.
- 38:57Speaker 2: I think I have a you all, like a non
- 39:01Speaker 2: binary mindset what non binary means multiple correct, Like I
- 39:05Speaker 2: don't have a binary mindset?
- 39:07Speaker 1: Yeah, pretty much, I have.
- 39:08Speaker 2: I have a Yeah, I don't have a binary mindset
- 39:10Speaker 2: on this because I wouldn't probably want to be with
- 39:15Speaker 2: someone that keeps photos, but there.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Is people that wouldn't care. I agree.
- 39:19Speaker 2: So I'm just not the right person for the type
- 39:23Speaker 2: of person that wants to keep photos.
- 39:25Speaker 1: And I don't know if it's an insecurity thing or not.
- 39:27Speaker 1: I don't, I really don't. I guess it's the way
- 39:29Speaker 1: you show love and receive love. To me, it's black
- 39:32Speaker 1: and white that you're still in love with your ex.
- 39:36Speaker 1: I recognize what it mal whoa hard say you used
- 39:41Speaker 1: to love this person at one point, you had sex
- 39:43Speaker 1: of him, you had the best time of your life
- 39:44Speaker 1: with him, and keeping photos of him that means something.
- 39:47Speaker 1: It's not because all I just want to look back
- 39:48Speaker 1: and think of such a good time. But now I
- 39:50Speaker 1: love you fuck off.
- 39:51Speaker 2: It's hardest, isn't it, Because it's like, well, I understand
- 39:54Speaker 2: you had a great time with them, but you're not
- 39:56Speaker 2: with them.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Anymore, exactly like, and you're not with them for a reason.
- 39:59Speaker 1: They friend, they aren't your friends, they're not family. You're
- 40:02Speaker 1: not with them for a reason because you guys didn't
- 40:04Speaker 1: work out, So why do you need to keep all
- 40:07Speaker 1: that like that? Like I am more on that side
- 40:10Speaker 1: of the fence. Yeah, yeah, piece of people straight up,
- 40:12Speaker 1: Like I keep photos, keep photos the only reason I
- 40:15Speaker 1: could like But also, you broke up for a reason.
- 40:18Speaker 1: Obviously it didn't work out. Why didn't work out? Because
- 40:22Speaker 1: he was a bad person, she was a bad person.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Don't keep photos of them? Different mindsets? Was wrong person,
- 40:27Speaker 1: right time, right wrong time, right person. I didn't really
- 40:32Speaker 1: like it. Break up with him two years too long too,
- 40:33Speaker 1: I would understand like, how long was the period of
- 40:37Speaker 1: time between these two relationships?
- 40:40Speaker 2: Oh, I don't think it was too long. He dated
- 40:42Speaker 2: his ex girlfriend for six years and then I think
- 40:45Speaker 2: it wasn't very I think I'm going to say it
- 40:47Speaker 2: was half a year, maybe a time a bit longer,
- 40:49Speaker 2: maybe a little bit.
- 40:50Speaker 1: I'm going to give it six months. That's my max.
- 40:53Speaker 1: I'm keeping photos and stuff if it's after six months. Yeah,
- 40:56Speaker 1: like look my I because here's my thinking as well
- 41:01Speaker 1: as like, Okay, but you were with someone for six years, Okay,
- 41:06Speaker 1: you've had a great time, like.
- 41:09Speaker 2: You you you you were broken hearted?
- 41:12Speaker 1: You want to keep the photos cool.
- 41:13Speaker 2: It's like, what are you going to do when you
- 41:18Speaker 2: meet someone new? Who is now? This person's the perfect person, right,
- 41:23Speaker 2: this person you you're fully healed, You meet them, you
- 41:26Speaker 2: fall in love. It's the deepest STFF you've ever been in. Yeah, Okay,
- 41:30Speaker 2: you get married.
- 41:32Speaker 1: What are you keeping all these old photos of your
- 41:33Speaker 1: past six year relationship for? Because you still in love
- 41:36Speaker 1: of them? But that's exactly that's what I'm saying. It's like,
- 41:38Speaker 1: unless you've got like children with them, Yeah, what are
- 41:42Speaker 1: you keeping them for? Is it also the same as
- 41:45Speaker 1: imagine like, so your partner hasn't kept any photos of them.
- 41:49Speaker 1: But one day you walk in the living room and
- 41:51Speaker 1: your partners on the couch scroll having a coffee with them. No,
- 41:55Speaker 1: imagine that scroll. Yeah that's even worse. But they're on
- 41:58Speaker 1: their Instagram and just have a scroll and you're like,
- 42:01Speaker 1: what are you doing?
- 42:02Speaker 3: Oh?
- 42:02Speaker 1: I was just checking. There's such good memories. Sure that
- 42:05Speaker 1: is the best question.
- 42:07Speaker 4: You'd be like, fuck, what fuck are you doing?
- 42:10Speaker 1: It? A the fucking out? I had such good memories
- 42:14Speaker 1: with him for fucking six years. Fuck, that's the best question.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Leave me alone a nude one too? Do you subscribe
- 42:24Speaker 1: to our only fancis?
- 42:26Speaker 3: Hyeah?
- 42:26Speaker 1: Fuck god, that's better a comment. It might have even
- 42:37Speaker 1: been an Instagram DM, and we get it quite frequently,
- 42:40Speaker 1: and it was how do we start the podcast? Why
- 42:43Speaker 1: did we start it? How do you get into it?
- 42:45Speaker 1: And we thought it's been a while, or about three
- 42:48Speaker 1: and a half.
- 42:49Speaker 2: Years, nearly four four shit, during like twenty second or something.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Four is four years of us doing the Relatables podcast together.
- 42:57Speaker 1: So a lot of you are probably new don't know
- 43:00Speaker 1: how we started where we started, unless he went back
- 43:02Speaker 1: to the very very start. But we're also awkward, little
- 43:04Speaker 1: losers back then. Yeah, I couldn't go back then, so
- 43:08Speaker 1: I reckon we could just give a little rundown debrief
- 43:11Speaker 1: of how Relatables came to be what it is to
- 43:14Speaker 1: this day.
- 43:16Speaker 2: Well, it's kind of funny, I guess, like I personally didn't.
- 43:22Speaker 2: I don't think it ever crossed my mind to start
- 43:24Speaker 2: a podcast. And but at the time we started the podcast,
- 43:27Speaker 2: I would say podcasts had blown up, like big time.
- 43:32Speaker 2: They had blown up, and it was arguably like a
- 43:36Speaker 2: saturated market, you know something. And I just remember so
- 43:43Speaker 2: basically Audie and I, okay, we met in year seven,
- 43:47Speaker 2: in grade seven or whatever, when I moved from my
- 43:50Speaker 2: school to his school, and then he actually moved from
- 43:52Speaker 2: a class like I got moved into this class, and
- 43:54Speaker 2: then you know, stars aligned, and aud he moves into
- 43:57Speaker 2: same He moved from one class to another class. He
- 43:59Speaker 2: was already that school. And then you'd think, where I'm
- 44:02Speaker 2: about to go with this is.
- 44:04Speaker 1: We hit it off straight away, just like class hands,
- 44:08Speaker 1: like you and I are going to be fucking friends. Yeah,
- 44:11Speaker 1: best buddies. And I mean, like I'm sure we got
- 44:13Speaker 1: introduced to each other and then just literally lived separate
- 44:16Speaker 1: lives like I came to school having friends from primary
- 44:21Speaker 1: school that went to that school, and obviously I went
- 44:23Speaker 1: hang out in them, same as addis like primary school
- 44:26Speaker 1: went to the same school because like different primary schools,
- 44:28Speaker 1: feeding in the high schools and just lived separate lives
- 44:33Speaker 1: with like acquainted friend groups or whatever. Literally throughout all
- 44:38Speaker 1: of school. Yeah, year seven and twelve, we weren't even
- 44:41Speaker 1: made throughout all school.
- 44:43Speaker 2: Like someone could have said, what do you think Audio
- 44:44Speaker 2: would have been like, oh, yeah, like nice guy, I
- 44:45Speaker 2: got a few classes with.
- 44:46Speaker 1: Any and then I assume he would have said the
- 44:49Speaker 1: same thing, or he would have been like, yeah, nice
- 44:50Speaker 1: guy's got big cars or something. That's what I would
- 44:52Speaker 1: have said. Again, that's like I wouldn't have said a
- 44:55Speaker 1: bad thing. No neither, no, and yeah exactly. And then
- 44:59Speaker 1: I think, like what happened, in my opinion was so
- 45:02Speaker 1: I actually I did.
- 45:03Speaker 2: I completed year ten, but then left. I didn't finish school.
- 45:05Speaker 2: I went and did a carpentry apprenticeship. And then throughout
- 45:09Speaker 2: like I think that that year, when everyone was doing
- 45:13Speaker 2: year eleven, more people were leaving slowly. Yeah, it didn't
- 45:16Speaker 2: like it's not as common as it used to be,
- 45:17Speaker 2: but more people believing and I have a feeling that
- 45:20Speaker 2: was like friend groups sort of once everyone left school
- 45:24Speaker 2: and smaller, and then some morphed.
- 45:26Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot of friend groups morphed together.
- 45:28Speaker 2: And so a really really good friend of mine, JJ,
- 45:31Speaker 2: he like must have just morphed his way into your
- 45:35Speaker 2: friend group.
- 45:35Speaker 1: JJ was a friend of everyone. He became the biggest
- 45:39Speaker 1: friend of ours. But he was friends with everyone. Yet
- 45:41Speaker 1: I've never met someone that knows so many people. And
- 45:43Speaker 1: if you catch JJ on a night out, he'll tell
- 45:45Speaker 1: everyone that he's the reason.
- 45:46Speaker 2: If you met JJ on a night out when we
- 45:48Speaker 2: were like anywhere from nineteen to like twenty three, he
- 45:52Speaker 2: would have added you to our friend group.
- 45:54Speaker 1: He would have added you to the group chat I
- 45:56Speaker 1: was going. He would have added you to the group
- 45:57Speaker 1: chat if you met him on a night out. Now
- 46:00Speaker 1: you meet him on a night out, and he would say,
- 46:01Speaker 1: I'm the reason relatables And so JJ is kind of
- 46:08Speaker 1: like so school ends, and then I think I can't
- 46:13Speaker 1: remember how it happened, but so I me and JJ
- 46:17Speaker 1: might have had We just like got a lot closer
- 46:19Speaker 1: via girlfriends, I believe, and then we were alway pretty close,
- 46:23Speaker 1: but we got a lot closer that way. And then
- 46:24Speaker 1: at the same time, ODDI and JJ were also becoming
- 46:28Speaker 1: really good friends, just like separately. And then I think
- 46:32Speaker 1: just over time, I started just like going out with JJ,
- 46:35Speaker 1: and JJ was part of this friend group where it
- 46:39Speaker 1: was JJ Otdie and then like four or five other
- 46:42Speaker 1: of our friends, and I was like friends with some
- 46:45Speaker 1: of them from primary school and then also from high school,
- 46:48Speaker 1: so we all knew each other.
- 46:49Speaker 2: And then I think JJ just started bringing me along
- 46:50Speaker 2: to like nights out, and then I got brought into
- 46:53Speaker 2: this like friend group called shit Cunts.
- 46:55Speaker 1: Yeah, the most Australian name, so it's called Shitcunts. And
- 46:59Speaker 1: then I was the last member to be added and
- 47:02Speaker 1: I was like, wow, I'm on it, and no one
- 47:05Speaker 1: got added everywhere. You were the last and then yeah.
- 47:10Speaker 1: So then basically just through like proximity, yeah, proximity. And
- 47:14Speaker 1: then this was probably when we were about nineteen, and
- 47:18Speaker 1: our friendship started to flourish a bit, I think because
- 47:21Speaker 1: we had a lot of i'm going to say morals
- 47:24Speaker 1: that were the same and we connected on that. We
- 47:26Speaker 1: had a lot of outlooks about life were very very similar.
- 47:29Speaker 1: And then we started there's a thing in Australia called
- 47:33Speaker 1: surf boat rowing, and we started rowing boats together. So
- 47:37Speaker 1: the proximity thing again, we're hanging out three four times
- 47:40Speaker 1: a week. Like I said, the morals were very similar,
- 47:42Speaker 1: and we were both kind of like in a bit
- 47:44Speaker 1: of lostness. Jacob finished his carpentry apprenticeship. I'd tried Gunner
- 47:48Speaker 1: Uni like twice, maybe three times. At that point, I
- 47:51Speaker 1: was like, I'm just fucking lost, and I think we're
- 47:52Speaker 1: both just a little bit lost. And we weren't even
- 47:55Speaker 1: like that good mates at the time. No, but we
- 47:58Speaker 1: somehow came to the conclude to travel up the East
- 48:00Speaker 1: Coast of Australia. Maybe it was because we both had
- 48:02Speaker 1: full drives. Maybe we all started going camping as a
- 48:06Speaker 1: group a lot.
- 48:07Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe just like over maybe just like hanging out
- 48:09Speaker 2: a bunch of going camping and then just going out
- 48:11Speaker 2: on weekends and stuff. Maybe we just started hanging out
- 48:13Speaker 2: a lot more, and then a kind of feeling like,
- 48:16Speaker 2: because neither one of us would have just gone on
- 48:18Speaker 2: a fucking three month trip that we weren't like good friends.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Yeah. True, So we must have just been good friends
- 48:22Speaker 1: at that point. I can't we remember, Yeah, never can I.
- 48:24Speaker 1: But we went on a three month hiatus camping up
- 48:29Speaker 1: the East coast of Australia out a jeep wrangler. Jake
- 48:32Speaker 1: had a towyter troopy. What year nineteen eighty six? Yeah,
- 48:35Speaker 1: I think with a B we moved in slow motion
- 48:41Speaker 1: fucking wherever. We didn't go that far. We got as
- 48:44Speaker 1: far as Early Beach. But what ended up happening was
- 48:48Speaker 1: the friendship flourished even more. Yeah, and we did become
- 48:52Speaker 1: like clearly best mates. And the conversations they started off
- 48:55Speaker 1: very surface level as guys to fucking chicks, feeling yeah, surfing,
- 49:00Speaker 1: drinking a bit of beer. At that time we both
- 49:01Speaker 1: were still drinking a fair bit. It was fun then though,
- 49:04Speaker 1: because we didn't get hungover, and then we like going
- 49:06Speaker 1: to breweries. Yeah, it's cool. Yeah, and then we came
- 49:10Speaker 1: back ready here. One one thing I want to say
- 49:12Speaker 1: is literally, I think like the first week we were away,
- 49:18Speaker 1: because like you just spent so much time with someone,
- 49:19Speaker 1: we just started being like I think one night we
- 49:22Speaker 1: were having dinner somewhere and we were just like, all right,
- 49:24Speaker 1: business plan, We're opening a bar, a bar when we
- 49:28Speaker 1: get home, right, it's going to have arcade games. Were
- 49:33Speaker 1: like table but we're going to have this. We're like,
- 49:36Speaker 1: we're doing it we had a note in our like
- 49:39Speaker 1: a shared note apple like things we needed for our bar,
- 49:41Speaker 1: and when we started just like thinking business. I yeah,
- 49:47Speaker 1: I forgot about that. And we had heaps of business
- 49:49Speaker 1: ideas along the way, so many random ones. Podcasting wasn't one.
- 49:54Speaker 1: Here's what.
- 49:55Speaker 2: No, here's one of the reasons why I think that
- 49:57Speaker 2: we actually have good business ideas. It depends I don't
- 50:00Speaker 2: that bar would have been cool, but we both stopped drinking.
- 50:04Speaker 1: Now.
- 50:04Speaker 2: Second one, we were like, we need to get gummy
- 50:10Speaker 2: bears or something that have either creatine in them.
- 50:13Speaker 1: Yeah, we came up. Or we need to make it
- 50:16Speaker 1: so you can have gummy bears that have like pre
- 50:18Speaker 1: workout in them. This is in like what year was this?
- 50:20Speaker 1: Twenty twenty, this is twenty this is where we're on
- 50:22Speaker 1: our trip. Yeah nine, this is twenty. No, it would
- 50:24Speaker 1: be twenty twenty one, twenty twenty one or another idea.
- 50:28Speaker 1: Caffeine gum. Guess what exists? Now? Yeah, that was I'll
- 50:32Speaker 1: give Jake. That was his. I think it may have
- 50:34Speaker 1: always existed, but it just wasn't that big. Ye caffeine gum.
- 50:37Speaker 1: AnyWho we've got we have some pieces you guys would
- 50:39Speaker 1: be famous otherwise, but okay, So we went home COVID
- 50:46Speaker 1: and then both got like really into the gym and
- 50:47Speaker 1: just hanging out.
- 50:48Speaker 2: And then I just remember Audi coming to the gym
- 50:51Speaker 2: one day being like because I think everyone was in
- 50:55Speaker 2: like a stagnant position in life because of COVID or
- 50:58Speaker 2: do you. I remember him saying like, we should fucking
- 51:00Speaker 2: try a podcast, and it initially I was just thinking
- 51:02Speaker 2: like that is like I can't put myself out.
- 51:05Speaker 1: There, Like I know why I came to you too,
- 51:07Speaker 1: obviously our friendship, but you were trying a bit of
- 51:10Speaker 1: videography and you're posting years prior. Yeah, you're you're posting
- 51:13Speaker 1: some fashion shit on Instagram a little bit. Yeah, And
- 51:16Speaker 1: I remember, oh yeah at that point is yeah, because
- 51:18Speaker 1: you were very open minded where I had a lot
- 51:20Speaker 1: of other friends too, and no one was as open
- 51:23Speaker 1: minded as you were, like understanding and like most people
- 51:26Speaker 1: have said start a podcast firstly wouldn't have the dog
- 51:28Speaker 1: in him to do it, but they'd be like, oh,
- 51:29Speaker 1: it's such a fucking dumbo. Yeah, but I was like, yeah,
- 51:32Speaker 1: let's fucking do it. I remember initially being like that's scary,
- 51:36Speaker 1: that's scary, but being like okay, okay. And I think
- 51:38Speaker 1: initially I thought like, yeah, I said I'll do it,
- 51:42Speaker 1: and then I was thinking, yeah, but it's not gonna happen.
- 51:45Speaker 1: And then one maybe a couple of weeks later, like
- 51:48Speaker 1: I think it was mentioned a few more times, and
- 51:50Speaker 1: audio goes yeah, Like we could think about it as
- 51:53Speaker 1: people do a four year degree and come out of
- 51:55Speaker 1: it in debt and don't go and then they make
- 51:57Speaker 1: no money because no one has them because they need experience,
- 51:59Speaker 1: Like we could try doing a podcast for four years
- 52:01Speaker 1: while we're just working and making money, but we're also
- 52:04Speaker 1: doing this podcast and if in four years it doesn't work,
- 52:06Speaker 1: then we just like cut our losses and fucking get
- 52:08Speaker 1: out of it. And so we just thought, shit, yeah,
- 52:10Speaker 1: we'll go into the mindset of four years. And god,
- 52:14Speaker 1: well I think I think I had that mindset too
- 52:15Speaker 1: because I was trying to do union. I was like,
- 52:17Speaker 1: this feels like the dumbest thing. We're giving up four
- 52:19Speaker 1: years of their life. Yeah, sorry if anyone's doing.
- 52:21Speaker 2: It also, And we also I remember we both thought
- 52:24Speaker 2: we both just hated working for a person.
- 52:26Speaker 1: I remember that, Yeah, And then same likewise of you
- 52:28Speaker 1: like you did four years of being a carpenter. Yeah,
- 52:31Speaker 1: and then you were like, well, I don't want to
- 52:32Speaker 1: do that anymore. It planned to see a subconscious seed
- 52:35Speaker 1: in my mind and there. Yeah, one day I said
- 52:38Speaker 1: to Jake, let's do it. We bought We initially started
- 52:41Speaker 1: with these shitty little microphone from JB High five and
- 52:44Speaker 1: they were like one hundred fifty bucks. Yeah, and they
- 52:46Speaker 1: didn't work. And we tried to do like two episodes
- 52:49Speaker 1: and no one will over here and we'll se walk
- 52:51Speaker 1: and they're gone. Yeah, they're gone. We couldn't make it work.
- 52:54Speaker 1: I still have the laptop we did them on. Really. Yeah,
- 52:57Speaker 1: you never know. And then one day bad is you
- 52:59Speaker 1: won't for leave this. So one day I messaged Jake
- 53:03Speaker 1: and I was like how much was it?
- 53:04Speaker 2: Odi just messages me and goes like, you owe me
- 53:06Speaker 2: three hundred and fifty bucks.
- 53:08Speaker 1: I was like okay, And I on Facebook Marketplace bought
- 53:13Speaker 1: if anyone that wants to know the tech a road
- 53:15Speaker 1: Caster pro and three microphones for what seven hundred dollars. Headphones, yeah,
- 53:21Speaker 1: and some headphones and baddies. We are still using the
- 53:27Speaker 1: same headphones, yeah, and the same road caster, which is
- 53:31Speaker 1: all your audio you heard for the last three and
- 53:34Speaker 1: a half years, four years. Yeah, we have new mics,
- 53:36Speaker 1: we have new cameras, but like, yeah, we fucking it's
- 53:39Speaker 1: never failed us. Yeah, ever, but that's where it started.
- 53:42Speaker 1: And I do remember being super nervous, but also I
- 53:46Speaker 1: felt it's weird because I feel like social media is
- 53:50Speaker 1: a lot more normal these days for people to be
- 53:53Speaker 1: in the public eye a little bit bit, especially from
- 53:55Speaker 1: where we are from and putting ourselves out there. I
- 53:58Speaker 1: felt like an idiot. Same, I felt like an idiot.
- 54:00Speaker 1: Bro and my dad walking in this.
- 54:01Speaker 2: One day, being like, what are you doing and we
- 54:03Speaker 2: were like, we're recording a podcast and he goes cool,
- 54:07Speaker 2: It's like cool.
- 54:09Speaker 1: Like yeah, I clearly remember feeling like an idiot, and
- 54:13Speaker 1: I felt like an idiot for a long time. It
- 54:16Speaker 1: was honestly, I won't lie that it was kind of
- 54:17Speaker 1: like a fakeacy make a situation. I was like, no,
- 54:19Speaker 1: this is fine, cool, like, and I felt like an idiot,
- 54:22Speaker 1: and we couldn't do it about each other. I couldn't
- 54:24Speaker 1: do it about you. Now, well, we both would stop. I
- 54:25Speaker 1: would stop stopped in it.
- 54:28Speaker 2: And proof that it would have stopped is that we
- 54:29Speaker 2: both Proof that we both would have stopped is that
- 54:31Speaker 2: we both tried just like small little personal endeavors that
- 54:34Speaker 2: like benefit the podcast and benefit our own personal brand
- 54:38Speaker 2: didn't last.
- 54:39Speaker 1: I think it holds each other accountable, even though there
- 54:41Speaker 1: is an underlying bit of like I've got to do
- 54:43Speaker 1: this for Jake or you've got to do this. Yeah,
- 54:45Speaker 1: we just feel like we do. It's become a business.
- 54:47Speaker 1: But there's also no like there was no magic moment
- 54:51Speaker 1: where like three episodes in we start to blow up.
- 54:54Speaker 1: I think we went was it a year and a half?
- 54:57Speaker 2: So yeah, but I will say, okay, I remember already
- 54:59Speaker 2: being like the call what I want the concept to
- 55:01Speaker 2: be here? Remember had been so do you really like
- 55:04Speaker 2: the Inspirted on Employed podcasts at the time? And I
- 55:06Speaker 2: also really I actually really like Shits and Gigs, And
- 55:08Speaker 2: I think I introduced audio to Shits and Gigs a
- 55:10Speaker 2: little bit then as well. And so those two podcasts
- 55:13Speaker 2: were massive, massive what's it called inspirations. It's just like
- 55:19Speaker 2: where like ideas came from. And so we really liked
- 55:22Speaker 2: how like the Inspired Unemployed had like segments, how it
- 55:25Speaker 2: was like broken up and it just kept people listening.
- 55:28Speaker 2: And so we always wanted we thought, like we want
- 55:30Speaker 2: to talk about like memories how things. We really like
- 55:33Speaker 2: camping with our friends at that point in time. We
- 55:34Speaker 2: loved hanging out with friends, just like stories of our
- 55:37Speaker 2: life up until that point. And then we also wanted
- 55:40Speaker 2: to like have it be. We wanted to have moments
- 55:43Speaker 2: if you guys have been around for a long time,
- 55:45Speaker 2: we would have a thing where we'd be like, okay,
- 55:46Speaker 2: we've got a deep segment, and we would just think
- 55:48Speaker 2: of a topic, maybe like right before we started recording,
- 55:51Speaker 2: or we'd have one for a week in mind of
- 55:53Speaker 2: like how does it make you feel when this happens,
- 55:55Speaker 2: and then we would intentionally try and get deep about
- 55:57Speaker 2: a subject and talk about how it made us feel.
- 56:00Speaker 2: And we wanted to do that because we wanted to
- 56:02Speaker 2: have a bit of a takeaway from each episode. We
- 56:03Speaker 2: actually also wanted it to be geared towards men talking
- 56:06Speaker 2: about their feelings, and that didn't happen.
- 56:09Speaker 1: No, it was good.
- 56:11Speaker 2: It is evidently geared towards women, which we love, which
- 56:15Speaker 2: is actually like a way better outcome for us, and
- 56:16Speaker 2: honestly we like you guys way better. But yeah, so
- 56:20Speaker 2: that's where it started. But yeah, yeah, again, where already
- 56:23Speaker 2: was going was fuck, we just would post for we
- 56:29Speaker 2: didn't really miss any episodes ever, and I think just
- 56:32Speaker 2: for the longest time we were getting maybe.
- 56:34Speaker 1: We got up to like three hundred listens per episode. Yeah,
- 56:36Speaker 1: it was like three hundred listens for the longest time.
- 56:38Speaker 1: We went through different sets, and then it all changed
- 56:41Speaker 1: for us. Was it Jack Conroy? Who it was he
- 56:43Speaker 1: told you to start bothing video names? This sucks? I
- 56:50Speaker 1: know him Concrete? Yeah, what the hell? I feel really bad.
- 56:54Speaker 1: I don't remember his name. Just someone that I'm friends with. Jordan, Yeah, Jordan, No, Jason, Jayden, Jordan,
- 57:03Speaker 1: Joseph anyway, just a random dude. Yeah, really nice guy. Yeah,
- 57:08Speaker 1: not very good friends at all.
- 57:09Speaker 2: But he just like messaged me on Instagram one day
- 57:12Speaker 2: and goes, oh, I've noticed that you started the pod.
- 57:14Speaker 1: I love it. He goes.
- 57:15Speaker 2: I tried doing TikTok for a bit, and one of
- 57:17Speaker 2: the best bist advice that anyone ever gave me was
- 57:19Speaker 2: post every day. And so he goes, I noticed that
- 57:22Speaker 2: like your TikTok clips, you girls will get maybe like
- 57:24Speaker 2: one or two from the episodes and post them just
- 57:27Speaker 2: maybe once or twice a week. You might see a
- 57:29Speaker 2: lot more growth if you try and post on every
- 57:31Speaker 2: single day. From that moment, I took it as gospel.
- 57:34Speaker 2: And now the only bit of advice that I have
- 57:37Speaker 2: for anyone starting a podcast or doing anything social media
- 57:40Speaker 2: is to post every day.
- 57:41Speaker 1: And I have no other advice because I've learned nothing.
- 57:44Speaker 1: And honestly, though, at that point in time, TikTok was
- 57:47Speaker 1: just done to blow up a lot, yeah, quite a
- 57:49Speaker 1: bit more yeah, And there wasn't all these like you
- 57:51Speaker 1: can go on TikTok now and everyone's saying like all
- 57:53Speaker 1: these different shit. There wasn't that kind of like system there,
- 57:57Speaker 1: and it was just like trial and error. And we
- 57:59Speaker 1: are everything to TikTok and social media because it blew
- 58:02Speaker 1: up and showed people who we were and that like
- 58:05Speaker 1: our product is actually decent. There's no other way that
- 58:07Speaker 1: can compare the exposure. And then we learn about gear
- 58:10Speaker 1: we've gone on. We upgraded our sets the more money
- 58:13Speaker 1: we made. We started with iPhones for cameras, those microphones
- 58:16Speaker 1: lasted like fucking two years, went to one camera. Now
- 58:20Speaker 1: we've got three cameras. Saying with like just learning about
- 58:23Speaker 1: there's so much different things in the industry. And I
- 58:25Speaker 1: think another reason we both love podcasting. Slash Whites worked
- 58:30Speaker 1: is a lot of podcasters. Famous people will come in talk,
- 58:34Speaker 1: leave and they don't have a single hand in the
- 58:37Speaker 1: production side of things. Yea and I both fell in
- 58:39Speaker 1: love with the production side of stuff. How cameras work,
- 58:42Speaker 1: how to record and make it sound good, how to edit.
- 58:44Speaker 1: We do all post productions. Yeah, we do everything. And
- 58:46Speaker 1: like we've gone to places before where like if we
- 58:49Speaker 1: were to hire a studio for when we luckily got
- 58:51Speaker 1: that was a a pinchby moment. When we did a
- 58:54Speaker 1: podcast with shits and gigs, shoots and gigs, and we
- 58:56Speaker 1: go in there and we talk and we know about
- 58:57Speaker 1: and everyone's like, oh shit, like how many people fucking
- 58:59Speaker 1: know this? We've we've we've recorded podcasts where someone's sitting
- 59:04Speaker 1: there as the producer and we'll just do a podcast
- 59:06Speaker 1: as we would normally do, and then they're like, that's
- 59:08Speaker 1: the first time I've ever sat in on a podcast
- 59:10Speaker 1: where someone hasn't looked over and said, what do we
- 59:12Speaker 1: talk about now? Yeah? And we're like yeah, And that's
- 59:15Speaker 1: one of the reasons as well. I guess too, like
- 59:17Speaker 1: we've kept the podcast duo us because like, you love
- 59:21Speaker 1: talking to each other. I see also like.
- 59:24Speaker 2: I find that I want to put out what I
- 59:28Speaker 2: would listen to, And I personally only listen to podcasts
- 59:31Speaker 2: where it's a duo and they never have guests, like
- 59:34Speaker 2: I like camaraderie. Yeah, like when She's and gigs have
- 59:35Speaker 2: guest episodes, I don't listen to them. Yeah, you know
- 59:37Speaker 2: what I mean, Like I only like that's just that's
- 59:40Speaker 2: just me And I don't know if that's right or wrong,
- 59:41Speaker 2: but I can't. Yeah, no one can tell us to
- 59:43Speaker 2: do and we can't tell them us what to do.
- 59:45Speaker 1: Yeah, so bad is I reckon? A lot of people
- 59:48Speaker 1: like to think, Oh, I would love to do social media.
- 59:50Speaker 1: I'd love to start a podcast whatever it is. It
- 59:52Speaker 1: doesn't even have to be on social media. But like,
- 59:54Speaker 1: it's this trial and error. There was no magic pill,
- 59:56Speaker 1: there was nothing, no moment where it was just like
- 59:58Speaker 1: we made it, sticking at it day after day, turning
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: up for each other and trialing. I think that's where
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: we've worked. We trial so many different things.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think, like being nearly four years in
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: it just still I gotta say I still wouldn't say I.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Feel like.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: Fully I may Maybe the word is like secure, is
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: that like a good word to use? Like I feel
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: lucky I would say there is lots of great arguments
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: that we are successful in our field, but like I
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: still feel like.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: I'm not fully secure and I don't know if I
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: ever will imposter syndrome. Well, we'll live it on. The
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: reason we signed with Nova was hopefully by the end
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: of this year or next year, we will feel secure. Yeah, hopefully,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: and like, yeah, fingers crossed. It's kind of funny. It's like,
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know, it's very.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: I mean I was flying when I was flying here
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: to record, I remember just thinking, like, it's fucking pretty cool.
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: I was just like looking at all these people in
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: suits flying to Sydney for obviously going to work and stuff,
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: and I was like, it's pretty cool.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: Like what we do it is, it's very cool. Yeah,
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: so we think all the baddis listening. We'll hopefully going
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: to the moon. That's how old saying. Yeah, and you're
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: coming with us, and we wouldn't be here without you guys,
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: And yeah, I mean, look, tell a friend to tell
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: a friend about the pod do Yeah, it would it
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: would obviously help out so much. We want to.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: Well, we're like stretching into the time on the episode
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: a bit. I may as well say if you're still here, obviously,
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: thank you for listening this far. And we've got Patreon,
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: go sign up, use the link of the description. And
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: then one more thing was we want to do events
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: this year. We did one for the Housemaid, the premiere
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: of the Housemaid or like the advanced screening of the Housemaid,
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: but I want to I want to do like fun events. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: So I just wanted to kind of put that out
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: there and just see what everyone thinks, like, get the
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: community built.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: I like it. I love it. Time for comments, batties.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: If you want to get a comment read, simply comment
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: on the episode you are listening to. I haven't up
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: eight Steph Price Update boys in Bracket's Ocean Alley Dilemma.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: I ended it and told him I'll transfer him the
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: money for the ticket. He transferred it to me straight away.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: I blocked him immediately and brought a and brought a
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: friend FYI. Then new album Slaps, Oh Let's go.
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: That was the advice we gave listen to us.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, I got it from A Dilemma's episode. Dilemas
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: episode It's called Toxic Scarlet priv six eight seventy one
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: on YouTube. Set I was being in my in quotes
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: being honest era, and I was too honest and basically
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: told my ex that I wasn't sexually attracted him during
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: attracted to him during our weekend away. He still wanted
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: to stay together. Bless him. He was a good guy
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: and didn't deserve that. Bless him. I could never hear that. Blessing.
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: I am like all for honesty, right, but I also
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: think like if the truth is gonna hurt someone where
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: it's like, let's say.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: I don't know anything, Like I don't know you think
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: I have a big forehead.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: Yeah, that's obviously gonna hurt my feelings, Like I would
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: assume that I know I have a big forehead.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: Yeah, you're not going to fucking be like you have
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: a huge forehead. And I'm like, what the hell that's mean?
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: Like I'm being honest to be honest, Like you're not
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: gonna like I think honestly has the time of the play.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: So I should just like hand you a headband instead
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: of saying anything, so you need this. Yeah, and then
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: she should just break up of him without saying any
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: reason why.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: Yeah, Like if she's not attraction, should just be like
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: I don't want to be with you anymore.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I like that. I don't know bad is It's
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: time for one of you to sign off the episode.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: The link will be in the description Jake, Yes, who
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: are we gonna call? Maddie?
- 1:03:35Speaker 5: Hello, Maddie speaking.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: Hi Maddie. This is Jake and not from the relatables.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: How are you?
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: Oh good?
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: How are you? Very good? Very good?
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: Oh my god, I was not expressing this call all good.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: All good. We thought we here up on a Saturday.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: Keep the baddies on their finished. The stars have aligne
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: it was meant to be.
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: Well, yes, we would like to ask you if you
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: could sign off the episode for us.
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: Yes, I love to do that. I would like to
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: say that something that has always stuck with me is
- 1:04:13Speaker 5: that some people are in your life for a few weeks,
- 1:04:17Speaker 5: some people are in your life for a few months.
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: Some people are in your life for a few years
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: or forever. But it's always for a reason. So if
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: a friendship ends, or if a relationship ends, you always
- 1:04:28Speaker 5: learn something from it, and it's always for a reason.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: I like that. I like that, And Mattie, can I
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: ask you one final question? Yes, if you break up
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: with someone, should you keep photos of them.
- 1:04:42Speaker 5: I mean, I'm guilty of doing it.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Okay, that's okay. Do you have a reason for it?
- 1:04:49Speaker 5: I just I think the reason why I only keep
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: the really special ones because it's the relationship ends. Like again,
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: they were there for a reason. You know, there's no
- 1:05:02Speaker 5: reason why you should be deleting them out of your
- 1:05:04Speaker 5: life completely, like you know they have a special place
- 1:05:08Speaker 5: in your heart and another what.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: Okay, we'll take that as an answer.
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: When this episode comes out, you will see how we
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: feel about keeping photos before we call you.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: You're listening to.
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: I'm so excited. I'm not to go.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: I'm waiting for it. I think in like two weeks
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: you'll be able to hear it's coming out.
- 1:05:27Speaker 5: Early on the Patreol.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: Said it to you personally.
- 1:05:33Speaker 5: You know, well, thank you so much for the call.

- 1:05:49Speaker 1: to be? Are you busy? You said you're done work,
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: you don't have time for us. Always loves to have
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: the final say you do. I just like to be
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: the one to be like, well, we called you so
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: We'll end it like you're your dad's son, the center
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: of attention. She was good. I put on the spot too. Yeah,
