- 0:00Welcome to Dubai Insights. Today we're exploring
- 0:03a remarkable achievement in water infrastructure
- 0:06management. Dubai Electricity and Water Authority,
- 0:09or DIWA, has just announced a major expansion
- 0:13of their water network monitoring capabilities.
- 0:16They've added 205 fully monitored flow measurement
- 0:20devices and an equal number of pressure monitoring
- 0:23units, while increasing automated remote control
- 0:26valves across the distribution network to 198
- 0:29in 2025. This technological leap strengthens
- 0:34Diwa's position as one of the world's most efficient
- 0:37utilities in limiting water losses. The results
- 0:40speak for themselves. Dubai now achieves the
- 0:43world's lowest water transmission and distribution
- 0:46losses at just 4 .5%. His Excellency Saeed Mohamed
- 0:52Altair, MD and CEO of Diwa, explained the strategic
- 0:56vision behind this initiative. Let me quote him
- 1:00exactly. In line with the wise vision of His
- 1:03Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum,
- 1:07Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE
- 1:10and Ruler of Dubai, and the UAE Water Security
- 1:14Strategy 2036, we employ technology and innovation
- 1:19to enhance resource sustainability and ensure
- 1:22current and future water security. Effective
- 1:26water and asset management, as well as improved
- 1:29automation and process efficiency, have resulted
- 1:32in Dubai achieving the world's lowest water transmission
- 1:36and distribution losses at 4 .5 % and increased
- 1:41water flow to meet growing demand in line with
- 1:44the highest standards of quality, availability,
- 1:48reliability and efficiency. The technology behind
- 1:52this success is equally impressive. Altair detailed
- 1:56the WaterSmart distribution management system's
- 2:00capabilities. Here's his exact explanation. The
- 2:04WaterSmart distribution management system has
- 2:07a centralized round -the -clock system for remote
- 2:10control and monitoring, as well as innovative
- 2:13smart equipment and systems. The system also
- 2:16uses remote terminal units, or RTUs, installed
- 2:20at interconnections between the transmission
- 2:23and distribution pipelines. In addition, it is
- 2:27linked with advanced water supervisory control
- 2:29and data acquisition, known as SCADA, and hydraulic
- 2:33management systems. This comprehensive approach
- 2:37enables faster fault detection and isolation
- 2:40while using advanced hydraulic analysis to cut
- 2:43costs and improve water movement modeling for
- 2:46more accurate decision making. D -Well plans
- 2:49to further expand this digital network to boost
- 2:52reliability of remote isolation along with enhanced
- 2:56flow and pressure management, ultimately improving
- 2:59customer satisfaction. It's a perfect example
- 3:02of how smart technology can transform essential
- 3:06infrastructure in one of the world's most water
- 3:09-conscious cities.
