- 0:10Speaker 1: My name is Jennifer Lawrence and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:15Speaker 2: It's showtime. The following feature has been rated R by
- 0:18Speaker 2: the Motion Picture Association of America. It is intended for
- 0:22Speaker 2: mature audiences and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:11Speaker 4: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I'm Brian and this week we are coming to you
- 1:15Speaker 1: live via digital recording from the Connection Theater here in Louisville.
- 1:18Speaker 1: And we are joined this week by the legendary comedian
- 1:20Speaker 1: Miss Judy Tenuta. Of course, you know Judy from her
- 1:23Speaker 1: years of working stand-up and her countless TV appearances, and
- 1:26Speaker 1: she's actually turned up in quite a few movies over
- 1:28Speaker 1: the years as well. So I thought we'd sit down
- 1:30Speaker 1: with her and sort of get a feel for her
- 1:31Speaker 1: growing up and how she got into the comedy scene
- 1:34Speaker 1: and her stories about making movies over the years and
- 1:37Speaker 1: just sort of get to know her. And as it
- 1:39Speaker 1: turns out, she's not only quite entertaining, but she's also
- 1:42Speaker 1: a wonderful lady who brought me a gift, so I
- 1:45Speaker 1: can't complain. She's a giver, that Judy. First up, I
- 1:49Speaker 1: did want to say a big thank you to Ed
- 1:50Speaker 1: at The Connection for kind of working with us on
- 1:53Speaker 1: this one and mostly for just letting us loiter around
- 1:55Speaker 1: the theater, which is a lovely theater, by the way.
- 1:57Speaker 1: So if you'd like to check out more about them
- 1:59Speaker 1: and see what they've got going on there, go to theconnection.net.
- 2:03Speaker 1: So let's just go ahead and get into it with Judy.
- 2:05Speaker 1: I'll go ahead and do the introductions. How should I
- 2:07Speaker 1: introduce her? Hopefully I don't mess it up. She'll probably
- 2:09Speaker 1: yell at me. Oh, well. Ladies and gentlemen, Miss Judy Tenuta.
- 2:23Speaker 1: It is Brian. I can address you as Judy if
- 2:26Speaker 1: you'd like.
- 2:27Speaker 5: No, Love Goddess.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Love Goddess?
- 2:29Speaker 6: Yes.
- 2:31Speaker 1: All right. Miss Love Goddess.
- 2:34Speaker 6: Yes.
- 2:35Speaker 5: Did we start yet?
- 2:36Speaker 1: We are starting right now.
- 2:38Speaker 6: Yay!
- 2:39Speaker 1: We are here with the Love Goddess herself.
- 2:41Speaker 5: Judy Tanuta. It's the whole thing. You got to say
- 2:46Speaker 5: the whole thing.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Oh, man.
- 2:48Speaker 3: What?
- 2:48Speaker 6: You're not very worshipful, Brian.
- 2:51Speaker 1: What's going on? Well, you have to convert me. This
- 2:53Speaker 1: is a hardcore religious situation here. It takes years.
- 2:57Speaker 5: No, I'm Judy, the goddess of Judy-ism. In my religion,
- 3:02Speaker 5: only I get to whine.
- 3:03Speaker 1: We spell... No.
- 3:05Speaker 5: It's J-U-D-Y-I-S-M, Judaism. Judaism, Judaism.
- 3:13Speaker 1: What if I start my own religion and then we're
- 3:15Speaker 1: battling religion?
- 3:16Speaker 5: I don't think that's going to work because I don't
- 3:20Speaker 5: think they know you, okay? I don't know. It doesn't
- 3:23Speaker 5: quite have the same ring. Brianism, Judaism. It's a little awkward,
- 3:28Speaker 5: but that's my usual situation.
- 3:30Speaker 6: It's not working.
- 3:32Speaker 5: Okay?
- 3:34Speaker 6: Oh, okay.
- 3:36Speaker 1: All right, well, let's start from the beginning. I usually
- 3:38Speaker 1: like to get in early with people. How would you
- 3:41Speaker 1: describe the goddess as a child?
- 3:45Speaker 5: Oh, well, I was a delicate flower. I was a petite,
- 3:49Speaker 5: delicate flower. And, you know, I am the love goddess,
- 3:54Speaker 5: princess of panty shields, empress of Elvis impersonators, Aphrodite of
- 3:59Speaker 5: the accordion. So many people want to know about the accordion. Well, actually,
- 4:04Speaker 5: it was my mother's IUD. I popped out wearing it.
- 4:08Speaker 5: It could happen, Brian. Now, the thing is, it didn't
- 4:12Speaker 5: work too well because my mom had nine children, my
- 4:15Speaker 5: mom and dad.
- 4:15Speaker 1: That was back when families used to do that.
- 4:17Speaker 5: Well, also, Catholic, deal with it.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I know several people now that have like six kids,
- 4:23Speaker 1: but it's all that generation. Everybody I know now has
- 4:26Speaker 1: like one, maybe two. Yeah, they have one and a
- 4:29Speaker 1: half now. Yeah, everybody else I know from like years back,
- 4:32Speaker 1: they were like six kids, eight kids.
- 4:35Speaker 5: Yes, well, but my mom and dad had nine children.
- 4:39Speaker 5: And I was, well, I really didn't hear myself talk
- 4:46Speaker 5: until I was like maybe 17. Because I had seven
- 4:49Speaker 5: brothers and a sister, and we were raised Catholic at St.
- 4:53Speaker 5: Obnoxious in Bondage School and Church. And, you know, my
- 4:57Speaker 5: mom said we were not allowed to laugh in the
- 4:59Speaker 5: living room. We had to wait until Sunday Mass when
- 5:02Speaker 5: the priest asked for money.
- 5:03Speaker 6: Well, of course. That's a big laugh. Excuse me, Pop.
- 5:07Speaker 5: How much money do you need to spend on that dress?
- 5:10Speaker 5: I don't think that much. So, anyway, you know, I
- 5:14Speaker 5: grew up in kind of a strict Catholic... We lived
- 5:18Speaker 5: across the street.
- 5:19Speaker 6: From the church.
- 5:24Speaker 5: Oh, and the accordion was a big thing because, as
- 5:27Speaker 5: I say, it was my mom's IUD. Now, my older brothers,
- 5:30Speaker 5: my parents tried to get them to play, but right
- 5:33Speaker 5: away they said, oh, no, we've got to go play baseball.
- 5:36Speaker 5: But then I, like a bozo, said.
- 5:38Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, this is fun. This is a nice toy.
- 5:40Speaker 5: You know, I was only seven. I just thought it
- 5:42Speaker 5: was a toy. And no, my mom locked me in
- 5:45Speaker 5: the closet until I could play Lady of Spain in
- 5:48Speaker 5: the Dark. I'm wearing the small accordion now.
- 5:57Speaker 1: The travel size.
- 5:58Speaker 5: Right, the big accordion they would keep breaking on an
- 6:01Speaker 5: airline that is now named after a baby, Northwest.
- 6:05Speaker 6: Like, we have time for that.
- 6:07Speaker 5: Why do you name your kid after a defunct airline?
- 6:10Speaker 6: Really nice.
- 6:13Speaker 5: And it would be even worse if the kid is
- 6:16Speaker 5: directionally challenged. Can you imagine? She's named Northwest, and she
- 6:21Speaker 5: doesn't know North or West, but not like she has to. Anyway,
- 6:27Speaker 5: so that's what went on.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Did you have formal training, or you were locked in
- 6:33Speaker 1: the room and had to learn it by yourself?
- 6:36Speaker 5: Yes, well, I went to a few lessons, but I
- 6:40Speaker 5: didn't like to listen to.
- 6:42Speaker 6: What they were telling me.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I have that problem myself.
- 6:45Speaker 6: Now, in retrospect, you know, it's like, you know, I'll
- 6:49Speaker 6: tell you what.
- 6:49Speaker 5: The first few lessons were really fun. Then they try
- 6:52Speaker 5: to get you to play the bumblebee boogie.
- 6:54Speaker 6: Yeah, think about it. Excuse me.
- 6:58Speaker 5: That was kind of, yeah, I was not... As devoted
- 7:03Speaker 5: as a, you know, I was definitely not a Beethoven-esque
- 7:08Speaker 5: squeeze box engineer. I was not that.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Studying the classics.
- 7:13Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:14Speaker 5: Well, now, in retrospect, I kind of wished I had
- 7:17Speaker 5: worked harder.
- 7:18Speaker 6: But, you know, it's too late.
- 7:20Speaker 1: It's never too late.
- 7:21Speaker 6: It's never too late.
- 7:22Speaker 5: Well, I'm working harder now.
- 7:23Speaker 6: I'm working hard for my money.
- 7:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:28Speaker 1: So in that household, did you have comedy influences seeping in? Oh,
- 7:31Speaker 1: my God.
- 7:32Speaker 5: It was so hilarious. In a way, it was strict,
- 7:36Speaker 5: but it was funny. You know, my mom was always,
- 7:40Speaker 5: she was very strict, but she was always humorous to
- 7:43Speaker 5: me because, you know, just to get away from all
- 7:46Speaker 5: the kids. They had nine kids.
- 7:50Speaker 6: She'd play cards.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I think she'd tunnel and get out of that place.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Nine kids.
- 7:54Speaker 6: Hello? I would. I would bail.
- 7:57Speaker 5: No, she was playing pinochle all day long, and my dad,
- 8:01Speaker 5: not all day long, I take that back, some afternoons
- 8:04Speaker 5: with her friends, just to let off some steam. But, yeah,
- 8:11Speaker 5: we had a lot of fun. We had fun.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Did you have outside influences? Were you watching comedy on TV?
- 8:19Speaker 6: Well, you know, a big.
- 8:21Speaker 5: Thing in my family was we watched And this is
- 8:24Speaker 5: before your time.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Not necessarily.
- 8:26Speaker 5: Jackie Gleason.
- 8:28Speaker 6: You don't know who that is?
- 8:29Speaker 1: Reruns, reruns, yeah.
- 8:29Speaker 5: Yeah. Jackie Gleason. And, oh, yeah. I think that was
- 8:36Speaker 5: every Saturday. Our parents would watch the Jackie Gleason show.
- 8:41Speaker 5: And I liked watching... The Smothers Brothers.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I really like the Smothers Brothers.
- 8:49Speaker 6: They were great.
- 8:50Speaker 1: We had an album back when vinyl wasn't so hip.
- 8:53Speaker 1: It was just the only option you had. We had
- 8:54Speaker 1: like the second volume of their golden hits, and I
- 8:57Speaker 1: played that thing to death as a kid.
- 9:00Speaker 5: I love that. I love them. Love the show. And then,
- 9:05Speaker 5: of course, as I got older, well, I wanted to–
- 9:13Speaker 5: I went to college, yeah, good move, and I majored
- 9:17Speaker 5: in nursing, but I had to drop it because I
- 9:19Speaker 5: ran out of milk. But, you know, then I realized, oh, oh,
- 9:27Speaker 5: I was taking art, and then a friend of mine
- 9:31Speaker 5: brought me to a play, and then she said, you
- 9:34Speaker 5: need to be doing this because you're driving me nuts,
- 9:37Speaker 5: because I would imitate all the teachers, like all the teachers,
- 9:40Speaker 5: even in high school, I would Be imitating all that, not, okay,
- 9:45Speaker 5: get up to the board and diagram this sentence, which
- 9:48Speaker 5: they don't do nowadays, right? They don't have diagrams.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Is there an app for diagramming? Yes.
- 9:52Speaker 5: Thank you. My nieces, I have tween nieces, It's the best.
- 10:00Speaker 6: I don't have kids.
- 10:01Speaker 5: That was one kind of regret. I did not have kids.
- 10:06Speaker 5: I kind of wished I had been tied to the
- 10:08Speaker 5: stove to make pancakes or some pipe fitter and take
- 10:11Speaker 5: fertility drugs, lay on the kitchen table, and pump out
- 10:14Speaker 5: youngins like y'all do here in Louisville.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Yeah! Occasionally.
- 10:19Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, right.
- 10:19Speaker 1: I haven't gone down that road.
- 10:21Speaker 5: You haven't, but to go down the Kentucky Derby, you
- 10:24Speaker 5: got to get your jockeys ready. So, anyway, yeah, and
- 10:30Speaker 5: my brother Tom said, oh, well, I got to go
- 10:34Speaker 5: on a trip, so could you watch? you know, my daughters,
- 10:38Speaker 5: which were my nieces. And I thought, oh, it's a
- 10:41Speaker 5: piece of cake.
- 10:42Speaker 6: Oh, thank you.
- 10:43Speaker 5: I had to bring them to school. They're like, I go, okay,
- 10:46Speaker 5: come on, girls. Let's go to school. They go, no,
- 10:49Speaker 5: Aunt Judy, we have an app for that. I go,
- 10:51Speaker 5: you have an app for school?
- 10:53Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 10:54Speaker 5: See, look, history. We have history.
- 10:57Speaker 6: I go, history?
- 10:58Speaker 5: No, no, no. You have to go to class for that. No, no. Look,
- 11:01Speaker 5: we go to Google Earth. Abraham Lincoln, vampire slayer.
- 11:04Speaker 6: No. That's history. Abraham Lincoln. That's factual history.
- 11:08Speaker 5: No. Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery, 1863. Yeah.
- 11:11Speaker 6: I'm killing vampires. What?
- 11:15Speaker 5: And they go, yeah, but what has he done lately? Okay.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:20Speaker 5: So totally they know nothing. They know nothing.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:24Speaker 5: And then they convinced me, Aunt Jada, we're going to
- 11:29Speaker 5: have social studies today at Forever 21. I, no, you're not.
- 11:35Speaker 6: That's where you go shopping.
- 11:36Speaker 5: No, Aunt Jada, no, really, they're having a big sale. Hey, listen,
- 11:39Speaker 5: I said, do you know why they call it Forever 21?
- 11:42Speaker 5: Because if you skip school and go there, your IQ
- 11:46Speaker 5: will be forever 21.
- 11:48Speaker 1: You'll be forever registered, Jackie, at the age of 21.
- 11:52Speaker 5: Forever 21 is the good punchline. Okay.
- 11:56Speaker 6: So, anyway.
- 11:58Speaker 5: Then, yeah, so that kind of taught me how tough
- 12:04Speaker 5: it was to raise kids, even if they're not your own.
- 12:08Speaker 1: But then you can be the crazy aunt that poisons
- 12:10Speaker 1: their mind. I'm that uncle right now.
- 12:12Speaker 5: Oh, poisons their mind.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I'm messing with my nieces and nephews, and yeah.
- 12:17Speaker 5: Well, anyway, but they were already tweens, so they already
- 12:21Speaker 5: have their... You know what I mean? They already think
- 12:23Speaker 5: they can control the universe.
- 12:24Speaker 1: They're setting their ways already.
- 12:26Speaker 5: They're already micromanaging everything. So, yeah, there was that. Now, wait,
- 12:33Speaker 5: let's get back to the original.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Yeah, we went off track. I guess when you started
- 12:36Speaker 1: getting into comedy, so at what point you were, I guess,
- 12:40Speaker 1: getting roped into the theater department? Is that what it was?
- 12:42Speaker 5: Yes, yes. And then I said, oh, you know, I
- 12:46Speaker 5: don't want to. Yeah, I want to be doing this
- 12:49Speaker 5: because it's kind of instant gratification.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Some sort of show kicked in in your head and
- 12:55Speaker 1: you're like, I do need to be in the middle
- 12:57Speaker 1: of this.
- 12:58Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, it's kind of fun. And then, oh, here's
- 13:01Speaker 5: the best part. Then I leave home and I thought, oh, well,
- 13:04Speaker 5: it's not cool to have the squeeze box. My mom said, Judy,
- 13:09Speaker 5: you're taking that accordion with you.
- 13:11Speaker 6: I go, Mom, it's not cool. I don't care.
- 13:13Speaker 5: You're taking it. Well, then my roommate from college said.
- 13:19Speaker 6: You know what?
- 13:20Speaker 5: You need to go on stage with your squeeze box.
- 13:23Speaker 5: Why don't you just go on stage with it? So
- 13:25Speaker 5: then I thought, well, why not? So I go on
- 13:28Speaker 5: and do that. And then, you know, it kind of
- 13:31Speaker 5: went from there.
- 13:33Speaker 1: So at what point did you start taking it somewhat seriously,
- 13:36Speaker 1: like as a profession?
- 13:37Speaker 4: Right away.
- 13:39Speaker 5: Right away. As soon as I– well, you know, luckily
- 13:44Speaker 5: I grew up in Chicago at the time of the
- 13:47Speaker 5: big comedy boom. Oh, yeah. And they had all these
- 13:50Speaker 5: new comedy clubs. One of the first places I worked–
- 13:53Speaker 5: it's no longer there. It's called the Pickle Barrel. And
- 13:56Speaker 5: then I worked at Zany's, which you probably heard of.
- 13:59Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 14:00Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah. And there was, oh, the Maroon Raccoon, the
- 14:05Speaker 5: Comedy Womb, all these weird, yeah.
- 14:07Speaker 1: The names of these places.
- 14:09Speaker 6: No, but it was great.
- 14:10Speaker 5: It was all, you know, me and a couple friends
- 14:13Speaker 5: would drive. I didn't drive. That's one thing I don't.
- 14:16Speaker 5: I really don't like to drive. It's all about driving
- 14:18Speaker 5: Miss Judy.
- 14:19Speaker 1: You can get around in Chicago, though. You can get around.
- 14:22Speaker 5: No.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Here, you'd be in trouble. No.
- 14:25Speaker 5: Anybody who is a friend to Judy must be willing
- 14:28Speaker 5: to drive Miss Judy. That's what it is. I don't
- 14:31Speaker 5: like to drive, okay? So, yeah, my friends... I had
- 14:37Speaker 5: friends that we would drive to the comedy clubs. Well,
- 14:39Speaker 5: they would drive. I would just be there telling them
- 14:41Speaker 5: where to go.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Show for me now.
- 14:45Speaker 5: But here's another great thing. I lived right on Lincoln
- 14:48Speaker 5: Avenue in Chicago. And at that time, there were two
- 14:51Speaker 5: clubs within walking distance.
- 14:54Speaker 1: You're all set.
- 14:55Speaker 5: How awesome is that? But then I eventually acquiesced and realized, well,
- 15:01Speaker 5: maybe I need to learn to drive again.
- 15:04Speaker 1: How did that go?
- 15:05Speaker 6: Oh, it went great.
- 15:07Speaker 5: My first car was a Ford.
- 15:10Speaker 4: Nice.
- 15:11Speaker 5: And I want to tell you, it was reliable. I
- 15:17Speaker 5: went from the comedy, it was called, what was it called?
- 15:23Speaker 5: I think it was called the Comedy College. It was
- 15:26Speaker 5: a church converted to a comedy stage. It was really nice.
- 15:29Speaker 5: It was fun. Walking distance. So I went there. There
- 15:33Speaker 5: was this other place called Sylvester's, and then a little
- 15:35Speaker 5: further was Zaney's. And then about three miles from there
- 15:41Speaker 5: was this place called Byfield's, which was a special, really
- 15:44Speaker 5: cool room in the Ambassador West Hotel where John Belushi
- 15:49Speaker 5: and all these guys used to stay. Anyway, so a
- 15:52Speaker 5: lot of places, a lot of places to, you know,
- 15:55Speaker 5: try out your stuff. And so that was great.
- 15:59Speaker 1: That was the boom, probably bigger than it's ever been.
- 16:02Speaker 1: So was it hard defining? Yourself from everyone else, separating.
- 16:07Speaker 1: I'm assuming the squeeze box helps.
- 16:10Speaker 5: Well, and I, you know, and hello, I'm the love goddess.
- 16:13Speaker 5: I'm the petite flower. I'm the princess of panty shields. Yeah,
- 16:16Speaker 5: I was kind of different from anyone going, hey, did
- 16:19Speaker 5: you ever notice when you go to McDonald's, oh, you
- 16:21Speaker 5: got to have a big gulp? No. I don't do that.
- 16:24Speaker 6: Not that there's anything wrong with it.
- 16:26Speaker 1: There's plenty of people.
- 16:28Speaker 5: You need your peeps to do that.
- 16:30Speaker 1: You can't separate yourself from them if you don't have
- 16:32Speaker 1: the rest.
- 16:33Speaker 5: So, um. Anyway, yeah, so, and then I got an agent. Well,
- 16:43Speaker 5: you know, there was a boom all over the country, too,
- 16:45Speaker 5: but more like in New York and L.A. and Chicago.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Chicago, yeah.
- 16:50Speaker 5: So then I got, one of the first main jobs
- 16:53Speaker 5: I got was to open for Jay Leno in Atlanta,
- 16:57Speaker 5: which was awesome. And the most fun with that was
- 17:01Speaker 5: going grocery shopping with him. That was hysterical. I go, Jay,
- 17:09Speaker 5: let's get some vegetables. I don't need that crap. He's like, whatever.
- 17:14Speaker 6: I like pizza.
- 17:15Speaker 5: All he wanted to eat was pizza. And here's one
- 17:19Speaker 5: thing amazing. You know how he's joke, joke, joke, joke, joke, joke, joke.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Always joke.
- 17:25Speaker 5: Well, before he would go on stage, he could eat
- 17:28Speaker 5: like a whole fried chicken. Now, I'm one of these people.
- 17:32Speaker 5: I can't have anything in my stomach. I can't be
- 17:34Speaker 5: digesting food.
- 17:35Speaker 6: Not him.
- 17:35Speaker 5: I go, Jay, doesn't, I mean, isn't it bothering you?
- 17:39Speaker 6: Eh, whatever.
- 17:40Speaker 5: It'll be great. Don't worry.
- 17:42Speaker 6: And he was right. He was great.
- 17:44Speaker 5: He could just digest a whole chicken and do his show.
- 17:49Speaker 5: It was great.
- 17:50Speaker 1: He seems like he would be okay with driving, Miss Judy.
- 17:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 17:53Speaker 1: He loves his cars.
- 17:54Speaker 6: He did drive.
- 17:55Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 17:56Speaker 6: He was awesome.
- 17:58Speaker 5: I just wish I got to drive in his Bugatti
- 18:01Speaker 5: with him. I didn't get to do that because those
- 18:03Speaker 5: were the salad days. You know, that was in Atlanta.
- 18:05Speaker 5: We were in Atlanta. Yeah. And working together. And then
- 18:11Speaker 5: back in, at the time, I was, he was in
- 18:14Speaker 5: Hollywood and I was living in, between Chicago and working
- 18:18Speaker 5: in New York because I had a new manager agent
- 18:22Speaker 5: in New York. So it was really pretty cool.
- 18:25Speaker 1: We, I don't know, we kind of spiral off into
- 18:28Speaker 1: Hollywood stories anyway. I guess what happened once you got
- 18:32Speaker 1: to Hollywood, and I'm assuming it was kind of an
- 18:35Speaker 1: adjustment for you coming there.
- 18:37Speaker 5: No, first, before I did that, a big step was
- 18:42Speaker 5: going to New York, because that's really where I got noticed.
- 18:47Speaker 5: Because I went to Caroline's Comedy Club, and that's where...
- 18:52Speaker 5: My agent got me, well, we did my first album
- 18:56Speaker 5: there called Buy This Pigs. It came out in 1987.
- 19:00Speaker 5: Then my manager was really cool and got me, well,
- 19:06Speaker 5: I got to be on this special with three other
- 19:09Speaker 5: female comics. You know, Rita Rudner, Paula Poundstone, and you
- 19:14Speaker 5: might have heard of her, Ellen DeGeneres. Oh, I mean DeGeneres.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Those comedy specials were so key. Everybody that wrote, like
- 19:22Speaker 1: Rodney was doing those. If you look back at them,
- 19:25Speaker 1: everybody wrote through.
- 19:26Speaker 5: Well, this is the interesting thing.
- 19:27Speaker 1: No, no.
- 19:28Speaker 5: Prior to that, you had to be on The Tonight Show.
- 19:31Speaker 5: I was never on The Tonight Show. But these HBO
- 19:34Speaker 5: specials were an awesome stepping stone short of being on
- 19:40Speaker 5: The Tonight Show.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, The Tonight Show was the key at
- 19:43Speaker 1: that point.
- 19:44Speaker 6: Although, there are some.
- 19:45Speaker 5: People who've been on The Tonight Show for 40 times
- 19:47Speaker 5: and you don't remember them. I will name and and
- 19:49Speaker 5: you won't know who this person is but so i'm
- 19:51Speaker 5: not even going to say it but you know it's
- 19:53Speaker 5: true and then it's it's so it just goes to
- 19:56Speaker 5: show that you know you have to kind of be
- 19:59Speaker 5: something different and um yeah so i did that and
- 20:03Speaker 5: then i got the diet dr pepper commercials which was awesome.
- 20:08Speaker 5: You can't get a body like mine in a bottle
- 20:10Speaker 5: unless you push real hard. And then I got another
- 20:17Speaker 5: HBO special. Anyway, I did a special for Showtime. I
- 20:25Speaker 5: did some special Lifetime specials with, oh, my God, this
- 20:28Speaker 5: was fun, Dr. Ruth and George Hamilton. It was supposed
- 20:32Speaker 5: to be.
- 20:32Speaker 1: There's a pair of them.
- 20:33Speaker 5: It was supposed to be like a sort of a
- 20:35Speaker 5: love Valentine special. Oh, my God.
- 20:38Speaker 7: Dr.
- 20:38Speaker 4: Will.
- 20:39Speaker 6: Listen to me now.
- 20:40Speaker 5: You know, okay. And then George Hamilton is so suave.
- 20:43Speaker 5: He's just.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Suave, leathery George Hamilton.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:47Speaker 5: He was the precursor to Leather Mom.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 20:51Speaker 5: Yeah. You know Leather Mom?
- 20:52Speaker 1: Yeah. But at least he pulled it off. He was smooth. No, no,
- 20:56Speaker 1: but at.
- 20:57Speaker 5: Least he was suave and sophisticated and cool.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:01Speaker 5: So... Yeah, that's kind of what happened.
- 21:04Speaker 1: So what led you to L.A.
- 21:05Speaker 4: Then?
- 21:06Speaker 1: Just getting more TV work?
- 21:08Speaker 5: Well, yeah. Then I was like, well, you know, I
- 21:12Speaker 5: really need to be doing this TV thing more. And also,
- 21:18Speaker 5: I need to have less snow. They have crippling, as
- 21:24Speaker 5: you know, winters between Chicago and New York, where I'm from.
- 21:28Speaker 1: I question that every winter. And it applies to Chicago, too.
- 21:31Speaker 5: You guys have bad weather here, too. So once I
- 21:34Speaker 5: got to L.A., I was like, okay, this is really cool.
- 21:38Speaker 5: Even though everyone here is really remedial. You know, they're
- 21:44Speaker 5: all like, hey, yeah, Judy, do you want to come
- 21:47Speaker 5: to my party? It's really cool. Yeah, come to my party. And,
- 21:51Speaker 5: you know, it's like all these stars and you get
- 21:54Speaker 5: to be there. And then you go there and they go,
- 21:57Speaker 5: who are you? Yeah. Yeah, so it's not.
- 22:01Speaker 1: It's a town built around an industry. It's not just
- 22:04Speaker 1: a city. It is the business.
- 22:06Speaker 6: Well, anyway, no, no, no.
- 22:07Speaker 5: But everybody, this is a cool thing. I think it
- 22:11Speaker 5: was a little easier for me because people already knew
- 22:13Speaker 5: who I was. So that was cool. But then breaking
- 22:17Speaker 5: the barrier of, well, I want to be on a
- 22:20Speaker 5: TV show. It's like, well, you need to be a
- 22:23Speaker 5: fat housewife. Why don't you do that?
- 22:27Speaker 1: The impact of Roseanne.
- 22:29Speaker 5: Yeah, no, no, but it's, you know, it's a great show.
- 22:31Speaker 1: That was a great show. It lost its way, but
- 22:35Speaker 1: where's the Judy show?
- 22:36Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, we need, you know, there's room for everything. So, anyway, but,
- 22:42Speaker 5: you know, I did all these specials and, you know.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Well, did you, at that point, start entertaining the idea
- 22:49Speaker 1: of getting into movies?
- 22:50Speaker 5: Yes.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Because you definitely cross over there.
- 22:53Speaker 5: Yeah, I did, I did, I did do movies. Yeah,
- 22:57Speaker 5: oh yeah, you've heard of, Big movies. No, it was fun.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Circuitry Man 2? Come on.
- 23:05Speaker 5: What is it?
- 23:06Speaker 1: Circuitry Man 2.
- 23:07Speaker 5: Was I in that? Oh, my God. He has to
- 23:10Speaker 5: tell me my own movies.
- 23:13Speaker 1: I'm like, those are amazing and crazy.
- 23:16Speaker 6: I didn't even know I was in that.
- 23:21Speaker 5: Oh, I do remember filming that now.
- 23:23Speaker 6: I do remember that. It was so weird.
- 23:25Speaker 1: It's a weird post-apocalyptic kind of thing.
- 23:28Speaker 6: Isn't it? It wasn't weird? Yeah.
- 23:30Speaker 5: But it was so, I was like, okay, yeah. Yeah,
- 23:34Speaker 5: I started doing that kind of stuff. And this vampire
- 23:37Speaker 5: thing called, wasn't there a vampire? Oh, there was something
- 23:40Speaker 5: called White Heat.
- 23:41Speaker 4: White Heat.
- 23:41Speaker 1: That was Robbie Bent?
- 23:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:43Speaker 1: He's directing that one.
- 23:44Speaker 5: By the way, a sweetheart.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:46Speaker 5: He was a doll. Yeah, I love that. That was
- 23:49Speaker 5: a lot of fun. And then, yeah, there was a
- 23:52Speaker 5: vampire movie. It was called, and I got to play
- 23:55Speaker 5: a security guard. That was a lot of fun.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:58Speaker 5: What do you do? Oh, and that was with, I
- 24:01Speaker 5: didn't get to do scenes with him, but oh my God.
- 24:05Speaker 5: And they play it every Halloween. It comes back. They
- 24:07Speaker 5: play it. They play these.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Trying to think what you're doing. But yeah, that.
- 24:11Speaker 5: I can't think. First Bite, was it called?
- 24:13Speaker 6: Was it something?
- 24:14Speaker 1: Once Bitten?
- 24:15Speaker 5: Yeah, something like that.
- 24:16Speaker 1: That's like Lauren Hutton, I think, was in. No, no, no.
- 24:20Speaker 1: So maybe not that one.
- 24:21Speaker 5: No, no, I was in the one with Ant.
- 24:24Speaker 6: No, no, not Ant.
- 24:26Speaker 1: I think what that was.
- 24:27Speaker 5: I don't know, but he was a pop star. Adam Ant?
- 24:32Speaker 6: That's it. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:33Speaker 5: Adam Ant.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Adam Ant.
- 24:34Speaker 5: And yeah, it was great. Yeah, it was fun. It
- 24:37Speaker 5: was so campy. Here's my favorite thing. I was always campy.
- 24:44Speaker 5: I was always into these campy, brought into, I mean, circuitry, whatever.
- 24:49Speaker 5: What the hell is that?
- 24:50Speaker 2: Circuitry man, too.
- 24:52Speaker 6: What was secretary man one that's what i want.
- 24:55Speaker 1: To know sort of similar okay he has plugs in
- 24:58Speaker 1: his head secretary man two was new and.
- 25:01Speaker 5: Improved and then i got you know it's burning well
- 25:04Speaker 5: i got white uh what is it white heat.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Uh the one that you robbie benson.
- 25:09Speaker 5: Yeah okay it's my ride.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Let's go they're gonna be hauling you away What else?
- 25:16Speaker 5: Oh, a lot of, and then a bigger movie. I
- 25:21Speaker 5: got to do, one of the favorite TV things was
- 25:23Speaker 5: I did General Hospital. Yeah. That was a lot of fun.
- 25:29Speaker 5: And then, and they, I remember it was a scene,
- 25:32Speaker 5: they had a big birthday cake and I ate half
- 25:34Speaker 5: of it and got sick. Of course.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Still didn't learn your lesson. No, no. After Jay Leno. Oh, no.
- 25:40Speaker 5: I don't, yeah, yeah.
- 25:42Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 25:42Speaker 5: Pizza and cake.
- 25:43Speaker 6: That's it.
- 25:44Speaker 1: That's all you need. Pizza and cake.
- 25:46Speaker 5: Yeah. And, you know, he's still healthy. But, and then I,
- 25:53Speaker 5: in 19, wait, I'm sorry. No. I did a lot more.
- 25:58Speaker 5: little movies like that you know real real like you
- 26:01Speaker 5: say uh artsy kind.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Of weird indie films is what they call them now.
- 26:06Speaker 5: Films i yes what was the one i i played
- 26:10Speaker 5: kind of a uh oh i know i was i
- 26:15Speaker 5: was uh a motel clerk from the south i can't
- 26:20Speaker 5: think of the name of that one that was good
- 26:22Speaker 5: some some uh Bible Belt. I don't know. They were
- 26:26Speaker 5: trying to be religious. I can't remember.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Let's try to get one of the bigger Desperation Boulevard.
- 26:32Speaker 5: Oh, that's right.
- 26:33Speaker 1: You're kind of centered around it.
- 26:35Speaker 5: I got to do Desperation Boulevard, which I produced. And
- 26:40Speaker 5: that was really fun. And we had Michael, you know,
- 26:44Speaker 5: Academy Award nominee Michael Lernon played my agent manager.
- 26:49Speaker 1: He's a big name.
- 26:50Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, he was great.
- 26:51Speaker 1: And we had a lot of cameos.
- 26:53Speaker 5: Weird Al, who is the greatest, as you know.
- 26:56Speaker 1: You still work with him now.
- 26:57Speaker 5: I love Weird Al. I got to do my favorite thing, though,
- 27:01Speaker 5: was getting to do his TV show with him. the
- 27:04Speaker 5: word al show in which i was madam judy oh
- 27:07Speaker 5: hello i'm madam judy oh i can predict the present
- 27:11Speaker 5: and you know he would come to me for advice
- 27:13Speaker 5: and i was just trying to get money from him
- 27:16Speaker 5: you know pretty.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Cool you two just hang out and talk accordion.
- 27:19Speaker 5: Oh but see he's a real master accordionist he's awesome yeah.
- 27:24Speaker 1: He probably did study the classics i'm sure he did.
- 27:26Speaker 5: He was he was uh Well, you know, he was
- 27:29Speaker 5: valedictorian of his class.
- 27:31Speaker 1: He's ridiculously smart anyway. And I guess that's why he's
- 27:35Speaker 1: made it work so many years now.
- 27:37Speaker 5: And so that was a blast. That was so much
- 27:41Speaker 5: fun getting to do that. And also, then I was
- 27:45Speaker 5: in a few of his videos, too. I was in, oh,
- 27:48Speaker 5: one of them. I got to play Headline News. All
- 27:53Speaker 5: the headlines. It was great because he did all these scandals.
- 28:01Speaker 5: Do you remember the Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan? That
- 28:05Speaker 5: was a big part of it. And then I was
- 28:08Speaker 5: Lorena Bobbitt. I was Lorena Bobbitt. Yeah, it was great.
- 28:13Speaker 5: That was a great one.
- 28:14Speaker 3: And then there was this guy Who made his wife
- 28:20Speaker 3: so mad one night That she cut off his wiener
- 28:24Speaker 3: And when he finally came to He found that Mr.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Happy was missing He couldn't quite explain it. It had
- 28:41Speaker 3: always just been there.

- 30:44Speaker 6: Oh, we're good.
- 30:46Speaker 5: We could do like 10 IMs a minute. Okay.

- 30:51Speaker 5: Doris, do you have any Motrin? Out of style. I
- 30:53Speaker 5: have no clothes. I still have the hand-me-downs you gave me.
- 30:58Speaker 6: I feel so last year.
- 30:59Speaker 5: Calm down.
- 31:00Speaker 6: Retro's really in right now.
- 31:01Speaker 5: And completely out of place.
- 31:04Speaker 6: This is ridiculous.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Friends don't let friends take public transportation.
- 31:08Speaker 7: Baby.
- 31:10Speaker 6: What?
- 31:10Speaker 1: It's $ 1.
- 31:10Speaker 5: 35.
- 31:10Speaker 9: I'm not tipping you until I know how your service is.
- 31:13Speaker 5: This summer, Fabiella is going to make an offer.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Girls, I want your company.
- 31:18Speaker 5: Fabiella.
- 31:19Speaker 2: Our worst enemy do girls even want to run this
- 31:22Speaker 2: place i feel like.

- 31:26Speaker 5: You and i are taking care of ourselves from now on.
- 31:29Speaker 10: We'll rebuild this company hillary duff and hayley duff in
- 31:35Speaker 10: a comedy about what happens when material girls.
- 31:40Speaker 4: I was a debate team.
- 31:41Speaker 5: Nerd in high school that's cute nerds are like really in.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Right now Get real.
- 31:46Speaker 4: You girls, you're everything to me.
- 31:48Speaker 6: Give it up for Ava and Tansy Marchetta.
- 31:51Speaker 4: Material Girls.
- 31:53Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 31:53Speaker 1: No problem, Miss Marchetta.
- 31:56Speaker 5: I've got to come to the office more often.
- 31:58Speaker 8: A Martha Coolidge film.
- 32:12Speaker 7: He was the wizard of a thousand kings. And I
- 32:20Speaker 7: chanced to meet him one night wandering.
- 32:24Speaker 1: So as I said, we've been to the Chicago Wizard
- 32:28Speaker 1: World before, so they've got quite a few. Since we're
- 32:31Speaker 1: hanging out here.
- 32:32Speaker 6: They've got a lot.
- 32:32Speaker 5: They're all over the country.
- 32:33Speaker 1: That's what I was going to say. Since they're inviting
- 32:36Speaker 1: us to hang around here, I thought we would go
- 32:38Speaker 1: ahead and give the rundown. That's the difference with this
- 32:41Speaker 1: one is it's not just in one city. It's something
- 32:43Speaker 1: they've done kind of everywhere now. They've sort of taken over.
- 32:47Speaker 1: You can go to wizardworld.com and find out where they
- 32:50Speaker 1: are in the near future. The rundown of the upcoming ones,
- 32:53Speaker 1: end of May into June, is Atlanta. You've got Philadelphia
- 32:57Speaker 1: after that, San Antonio, back to Chicago, Richmond. So it's
- 33:00Speaker 1: like anywhere in this general part of the country, you know,
- 33:04Speaker 1: the United States.
- 33:04Speaker 5: Are you stopping at Richmond because we've got more to go?
- 33:06Speaker 6: Oh, there's plenty.
- 33:08Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
- 33:09Speaker 5: Nashville, Austin, Ohio. I thought Ohio was just generalized.
- 33:13Speaker 1: You know, that state. But anyway, yes, you can go
- 33:15Speaker 1: to wizardworld.com and find out where the next show will
- 33:18Speaker 1: be near you.
- 33:19Speaker 5: You should definitely go.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Come hang out. That's what we're doing.
- 33:23Speaker 5: Definitely check out wizardworld.com for all of your wizard world
- 33:27Speaker 5: type needs.
- 33:47Speaker 8: Hi, this is Verdon Wells, and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 33:50Speaker 8: And I have one thing to say. I know where
- 33:53Speaker 8: you live, you little fuckers. So listen, or I will
- 33:56Speaker 8: come and get you, I will rip off your head,
- 33:59Speaker 8: and I will piss down your neck. So remember that.
- 34:12Speaker 4: It's part of your problem, you know. You haven't seen
- 34:14Speaker 4: enough movies. All of life's riddles are answered in the movies.
- 34:18Speaker 2: And now, on with the show.
- 34:34Speaker 5: I know they're all thinking I'm so white and nerdy.
- 34:36Speaker 4: Think I'm just too white and nerdy.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Think I'm just too white and nerdy.
- 34:40Speaker 6: Can't you see.
- 34:40Speaker 5: I'm white and nerdy?
- 34:41Speaker 3: Look at me, I'm white and nerdy.
- 34:43Speaker 1: I wanna roll with it.
- 34:46Speaker 4: And then, of course, I was in another one.
- 34:50Speaker 1: But the other really fun one was White and Nerdy.
- 34:53Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I got to play his girlfriend that he brings me. Yeah,
- 35:13Speaker 1: it was great. It was another big resurgence for him. Yeah,
- 35:16Speaker 1: every few years he has like another big hit.
- 35:19Speaker 5: Oh, every year.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it keeps coming. Yeah, yeah.
- 35:23Speaker 5: And so anyway, but I did, yeah, his show, that, that.
- 35:27Speaker 5: And yeah, my movie, Desperation Boulevard. And then I did,
- 35:33Speaker 5: I got an actual movie, a movie that is, you know,
- 35:39Speaker 5: they play it all the time. It's called Material girls.
- 35:43Speaker 1: I was going to ask about it. With the Duff girls.
- 35:46Speaker 5: The Duff girls who were just... Hillary was only 17.
- 35:52Speaker 5: It was so much fun, though. They were so sweet.
- 35:54Speaker 5: And their mom, really nice. Very nice girls. This is
- 35:57Speaker 5: the best part, though. Hillary was underage. She was 17.
- 36:01Speaker 5: They have child labor laws. So when it came to
- 36:03Speaker 5: my scene, my scene was later. I had a couple scenes.
- 36:07Speaker 5: My scene with them... Was later in the day, well,
- 36:10Speaker 5: Hillary's only 17. She's been shooting all day. So this
- 36:13Speaker 5: is the best. They go, okay. I shot some of
- 36:17Speaker 5: the scene with them, but the really important part... Hillary
- 36:22Speaker 5: had to go home because she's only 17.
- 36:23Speaker 1: She has to go do homework somewhere on the set.
- 36:27Speaker 5: Yeah, so I do the scene with the director. The
- 36:31Speaker 5: director's reading the Hillary part, and I'm just reacting to that, but.
- 36:35Speaker 1: They cut it. See, at least have a blonde wig
- 36:37Speaker 1: on or something.
- 36:38Speaker 6: No, hell to the no.
- 36:40Speaker 5: I really had to act.
- 36:42Speaker 6: I really had to act.
- 36:44Speaker 5: Let me tell you what. It was great. And then, boy,
- 36:48Speaker 5: but editing. This is what editing can make a movie.
- 36:52Speaker 5: I'm telling you what. It was great.
- 36:54Speaker 1: You don't notice now that scene? It flows together?
- 36:57Speaker 5: No, it's just great. It's just, yeah, cool. Nobody knows that.
- 37:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, yeah, I mean, for all the other young
- 37:06Speaker 1: actresses of that era, like, she seemed like she kind
- 37:10Speaker 1: of had it together and hasn't gone down the road
- 37:12Speaker 1: that many, many others have.
- 37:14Speaker 5: Can you imagine if I had to work with Lick
- 37:16Speaker 5: Me Blow Hands? Lindsay Lohan, who's just like, that girl
- 37:20Speaker 5: has not been vertical for eight years.
- 37:22Speaker 1: She's been out of control her entire life. Yeah.
- 37:25Speaker 5: But, hey, it seems to work.
- 37:27Speaker 6: Even Oprah.
- 37:28Speaker 5: What's up with Oprah giving Lindsay a show?
- 37:32Speaker 4: Oprah!
- 37:33Speaker 6: Get off the meds! What are you doing?
- 37:35Speaker 1: It's a general question I have. What's up with Oprah?
- 37:37Speaker 5: Well, and interviewing Chris Brown, who now his career is
- 37:42Speaker 5: a felon. Yeah, thank you.
- 37:44Speaker 1: What's up with Oprah? The question of the day.
- 37:46Speaker 5: Yeah. No, we don't need that. Anyway, yeah, that was
- 37:51Speaker 5: pretty fun. And I keep... I'm doing... I was in
- 37:55Speaker 5: other movies that, like Sister Mary.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:59Speaker 5: These are more recent. Oh, my favorite that I was
- 38:02Speaker 5: in recently was, it's called Going Down in La La Land.
- 38:07Speaker 1: I've actually seen that one.
- 38:08Speaker 5: I've got to be a bitch. I loved it.
- 38:11Speaker 1: It's pretty dark there, that scene.
- 38:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:13Speaker 1: And I'm like, you can see potential there. Are you
- 38:16Speaker 1: interested in doing.
- 38:17Speaker 5: More serious acting?
- 38:18Speaker 1: I would love to be Maleficent.
- 38:19Speaker 5: There you go. With those fake cheekbones, I love it.
- 38:23Speaker 1: But, yeah, that played really well.
- 38:26Speaker 4: You were good.
- 38:27Speaker 5: Oh, thank you. I really enjoyed doing that. Yeah, we
- 38:31Speaker 5: filmed that. I remember filming that. That was another one
- 38:34Speaker 5: that we filmed until like 3 in the morning. And
- 38:38Speaker 5: I was, you know, lots of Red Bull. You know,
- 38:42Speaker 5: that was great, though.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Got to keep my anger and intensity up.
- 38:45Speaker 6: Oh, it was.
- 38:46Speaker 5: And you know what? In that one, I swear to God,
- 38:49Speaker 5: we were laughing so hard because I had this scene
- 38:52Speaker 5: in the limo. And they said, and then I had
- 38:55Speaker 5: to go out of a limo with the lead actor
- 38:58Speaker 5: and do the red carpet. Well, because I was like
- 39:01Speaker 5: his beard.
- 39:01Speaker 1: They're doing like a fake red carpet.
- 39:03Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:04Speaker 5: So here's the best part is I'm so flipping tired.
- 39:08Speaker 5: And then I realized, oh, shoot. I said, I'm really tired.
- 39:12Speaker 5: So I take my shoes off and they go, oh, yeah,
- 39:16Speaker 5: we have a lot of time. Don't worry. And we're laughing,
- 39:20Speaker 5: me and the lead actor. We're just laughing. Then they go,
- 39:23Speaker 5: your scene is up. And I'm like, shoot, I took
- 39:26Speaker 5: my pantyhose off. And the gay guy goes, well, you
- 39:31Speaker 5: can put him back on. I don't care. I'm not
- 39:33Speaker 5: going to... I don't... I go, you've.
- 39:35Speaker 6: Got to turn your head.
- 39:36Speaker 5: He goes, well, I don't care. It doesn't turn me on.
- 39:38Speaker 6: I go, thank you.
- 39:39Speaker 1: You're not helping my esteem, right?
- 39:42Speaker 6: Yeah. Thanks a lot.
- 39:44Speaker 5: But he turned his head. And anyway, we were laughing
- 39:47Speaker 5: so much.
- 39:47Speaker 1: It was really.
- 39:48Speaker 5: It's behind the scenes, really. It's so much fun.
- 39:51Speaker 6: That's what.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Yeah, those are usually the stories I like hearing more. Yeah, yeah.
- 39:54Speaker 5: You know, now you hear about these people who don't
- 39:57Speaker 5: get along. I... Always had a great time.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:04Speaker 5: I remember in the Robbie Benson movie, I was doing
- 40:07Speaker 5: the scene with the actor that played Madonna's father in
- 40:13Speaker 5: Papa Don't Push.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Danny Aiello.
- 40:15Speaker 5: That's it.
- 40:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:16Speaker 5: Danny Aiello. Couldn't be nice. Yeah, Jude, you got your
- 40:22Speaker 5: squeeze bucks, you know.
- 40:25Speaker 6: He was just like that.
- 40:26Speaker 5: Yeah, it was good. And Robbie Benson. A sweetheart.
- 40:31Speaker 1: And his wife, too. And acting in that one.
- 40:34Speaker 5: Yeah, he's terrific.
- 40:37Speaker 8: And.
- 40:39Speaker 6: But I will tell you.
- 40:41Speaker 5: Should I tell you who did not keep their promise? Well,
- 40:44Speaker 5: I don't know if I should.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Or at least make up a code name and tell
- 40:47Speaker 1: the story.
- 40:48Speaker 5: No, I'll tell it. His initials are Dr. Phil!
- 40:51Speaker 1: I'm already not thrilled with that guy. So feel free.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Crash him all you want.
- 40:55Speaker 5: No, I was at this big benefit back in... I
- 40:59Speaker 5: want to say 2008 or 9. And he came up
- 41:02Speaker 5: to me. I wasn't even in the same room.
- 41:05Speaker 6: Judy, you are so funny.
- 41:08Speaker 5: I need to have you on my show. Now give
- 41:11Speaker 5: me your number and here's my PR guy. He is
- 41:14Speaker 5: going to call you.
- 41:15Speaker 10: Never.
- 41:16Speaker 5: They love doing that.
- 41:17Speaker 1: That's for the best. Nobody wants to be on Dr.
- 41:19Speaker 4: Phil, right?
- 41:20Speaker 6: I want to be on. I want to slam dunk
- 41:23Speaker 6: that fake doctor.
- 41:24Speaker 1: As long as you can call him out the entire time.
- 41:26Speaker 5: Oh, that would have been fun. Oh, yeah. Like yesterday,
- 41:30Speaker 5: he's talking about Jimmy Kimmel. Ask him, why is it
- 41:35Speaker 5: that there's more crime in the summer? Do you think
- 41:37Speaker 5: people get a little crazier? It's because you're outside and,
- 41:45Speaker 5: you know. criminals want to be they don't want to
- 41:48Speaker 5: commit crime in snow it's a lot it's very easy
- 41:52Speaker 5: it's hot out everybody's out you can grab women.
- 41:55Speaker 6: You know it's pretty damn easy Dr. Phil says this.
- 42:03Speaker 5: Well, you know, these people are just as crazy in
- 42:06Speaker 5: their own homes. Yeah, except they're not murdering themselves, which
- 42:10Speaker 5: would help. It would help if they would murder themselves in.
- 42:14Speaker 6: The winter in their homes. No, they wait until.
- 42:17Speaker 5: It's summer and go out and grab women and rape
- 42:20Speaker 5: and murder them.
- 42:21Speaker 6: Yeah, thank you.
- 42:22Speaker 1: If you sit around the house, if you attack mom,
- 42:24Speaker 1: she won't make you dinner. So you got to go out.
- 42:25Speaker 1: You got to wait till it warms up and attack
- 42:27Speaker 1: other people.
- 42:28Speaker 6: I know.
- 42:29Speaker 5: And he's trying to make it.
- 42:30Speaker 4: Oh, no.
- 42:31Speaker 5: They're just as violent in their... No!
- 42:35Speaker 6: Check the statistics, bozo.
- 42:37Speaker 1: When they're home, they're stoned. They don't do anything active.
- 42:40Speaker 6: Thank you. That's it.
- 42:42Speaker 5: They're stoned and they're watching cops.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Yeah, they're drunk watching cops. They don't do anything at home.
- 42:48Speaker 5: Love it. Yeah. They don't have air conditioning either. A
- 42:52Speaker 5: lot of these guys, so they're out, they're heated up,
- 42:56Speaker 5: they're angry, they're frustrated, they're loners.
- 43:00Speaker 1: That's the key to civilization, I think, air conditioning.
- 43:03Speaker 5: Yeah, I think so. And refrigeration.
- 43:07Speaker 1: You go back in time before that, they were just
- 43:09Speaker 1: murdering each other right now.
- 43:11Speaker 6: Yeah, for their skin.
- 43:13Speaker 5: It's wrong. Anyway, I need a drink. Let's have a drink.
- 43:17Speaker 6: Now, wait a minute. Brian, I'm here in Louisville. It's
- 43:20Speaker 6: gift time. No, you must.
- 43:22Speaker 5: I brought you a bagel.
- 43:24Speaker 4: All right.
- 43:25Speaker 5: Now, these are from. Now, as you know, I'm working
- 43:28Speaker 5: here at The Connection. They have been such givers. Look
- 43:31Speaker 5: at what they gave the goddess. The drag queen here, Hurricane.
- 43:35Speaker 5: Isn't that beautiful?
- 43:36Speaker 4: Sparkly.
- 43:37Speaker 5: I love sparkle.
- 43:38Speaker 1: She has sparkles on people.
- 43:39Speaker 5: Look at that. They gave the goddess rhinestone bracelets.
- 43:43Speaker 6: And look at.
- 43:44Speaker 5: They're lightweight. They're not heavy.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Nice.
- 43:47Speaker 5: I will not touch this with my fingers because I
- 43:50Speaker 5: do not want you to.
- 43:51Speaker 6: But here, wait.
- 43:52Speaker 5: Let's see if there's a napkin. No. But I wanted
- 43:55Speaker 5: to gift you with one of their bagels from, what's the.
- 43:58Speaker 1: Name of that restaurant? I can take a loud guess.
- 43:59Speaker 1: Is it Nancy's Bagel Grounds?
- 44:00Speaker 6: No, it's the name.
- 44:02Speaker 5: Ed Lewis and his partner, George, they have this wonderful restaurant.
- 44:06Speaker 5: I think it's at the center.
- 44:08Speaker 1: The Bagel Box?
- 44:09Speaker 8: No.
- 44:11Speaker 5: No, they sell them with wine. What's the name of
- 44:13Speaker 5: this place? Anyway, it's really.
- 44:16Speaker 1: I think that's what it is.
- 44:18Speaker 5: Now, I want you to put that heated up first.
- 44:21Speaker 1: I believe this is tomato herb.
- 44:24Speaker 6: How did you know that? Oh, my God. He did
- 44:27Speaker 6: not even taste it. And he knows.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Assessing the situation here. I believe it's tomato herb.
- 44:33Speaker 5: I gave you a special one because there's no more
- 44:36Speaker 5: tomato herb in there.
- 44:37Speaker 1: That one's rosemary parmesan.
- 44:40Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 44:40Speaker 1: How do you.
- 44:43Speaker 6: Okay, you are a bagel master.
- 44:46Speaker 5: Brian, that's... Okay, we need a poker now. he's faster
- 44:55Speaker 5: and faster every time you see him you give him
- 44:59Speaker 5: a bagel he's the bagel master polka brian the bagel
- 45:07Speaker 5: the bagel master he's got the.
- 45:10Speaker 6: Bagel polka.
- 45:15Speaker 1: I knew the theme song.
- 45:16Speaker 5: I like this yeah yeah yeah it's good for you
- 45:19Speaker 5: And you got the tomato... What is that one?
- 45:21Speaker 1: Tomato herb. Oh, my God.
- 45:23Speaker 5: He knows.
- 45:23Speaker 6: I didn't even know that.
- 45:25Speaker 1: A little oregano.
- 45:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 45:26Speaker 1: Oh, my.
- 45:27Speaker 6: So you.
- 45:27Speaker 5: You see? I brought you the right gift.
- 45:29Speaker 1: I know what I'm doing.
- 45:30Speaker 5: Yeah. No, I brought other... Oh, they took away the chips. Well,
- 45:34Speaker 5: I think you were into bagel more so.
- 45:36Speaker 1: I'm definitely down with the bagel here.
- 45:38Speaker 5: Yeah, you're down with the bagel.
- 45:40Speaker 6: Wait, let me get a napkin.
- 45:46Speaker 1: I can hang on to it.
- 45:47Speaker 5: Okay, you're okay like that?
- 45:48Speaker 1: It's covered. I've got it covered.
- 45:49Speaker 5: You've got it covered. All right, good, good, good. Oh, Brian,
- 45:53Speaker 5: I forgot. Now, you know, I have a book now.
- 45:56Speaker 5: My first book was called The Power of Judaism, you know,
- 46:00Speaker 5: which is named after my religion. And by the way,
- 46:03Speaker 5: in my show and also online, you know, I'm a
- 46:07Speaker 5: minister of my own religion. I'm an ordained minister. And
- 46:10Speaker 5: I performed a marriage last night.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Nice.
- 46:12Speaker 5: And I want to tell you, the couple, I always ask,
- 46:17Speaker 5: is there any couple who's been dating for a long time?
- 46:21Speaker 5: And the woman hasn't been proposed to. Oh, my God.
- 46:23Speaker 5: This girl's right here.
- 46:25Speaker 6: Right here. Right here.
- 46:27Speaker 5: Damn it.
- 46:27Speaker 1: She's been waiting for this moment.
- 46:29Speaker 6: Oh, my God.
- 46:29Speaker 5: And he was like hiding under the table. It was awesome.
- 46:33Speaker 5: So I brought them up and I converted them to Judaism.
- 46:37Speaker 5: And they did their vows. And so I wanted to
- 46:42Speaker 5: perform a gay marriage because, you know.
- 46:44Speaker 1: They would certainly be okay with that here.
- 46:46Speaker 5: Yeah. They want. Because I do believe it's time that
- 46:49Speaker 5: John Travolta. Got to go on a Tom Cruise. It's
- 46:52Speaker 5: time for the gay marriage to be part of society. Anyway,
- 46:58Speaker 5: so I have this book now, Full Frontal to Nudity.
- 47:00Speaker 6: Clever.
- 47:02Speaker 5: Yeah. And you know how people, you know because you're
- 47:07Speaker 5: in the entertainment business.
- 47:10Speaker 1: I'm attempting to.
- 47:11Speaker 5: You know when people speak a lot. They say things,
- 47:16Speaker 5: a lot of promises, no follow-up. Do you get that yet?
- 47:20Speaker 4: Dr.
- 47:20Speaker 1: Phil.
- 47:21Speaker 6: Oh, hello. Thank you.
- 47:22Speaker 5: We will not mention names. Dr.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Phil. What a jerk.
- 47:27Speaker 5: And also, well, just in general, the way people speak
- 47:32Speaker 5: to you. You don't have to be. I call it
- 47:34Speaker 5: the Hollywood to English dictionary. No, really, things that people say.
- 47:38Speaker 1: There's a very different system out there, yeah.
- 47:40Speaker 5: No, but no, even around here they would say, oh,
- 47:44Speaker 5: you know, like here, I have this picture that says
- 47:46Speaker 5: I'm under 40, which is code for hooray for Photoshop.
- 47:49Speaker 5: Because now, you know, you would be 500 pounds and
- 47:54Speaker 5: then your picture, it's all Photoshopped.
- 47:57Speaker 1: Those magazines, I don't think there's any untouched photos going
- 48:00Speaker 1: out there anymore.
- 48:01Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 48:03Speaker 5: I'm a successful screenwriter means I'm in AA. Everybody in Hollywood,
- 48:09Speaker 5: they all.
- 48:10Speaker 6: Go to AA meetings.
- 48:10Speaker 1: That's the meeting.
- 48:11Speaker 5: I only drink to unwind means I'm married to Jack Daniels.
- 48:16Speaker 1: It means I'm drunk right now.
- 48:17Speaker 5: Yeah, all the time. All the time. Oh, and this
- 48:24Speaker 5: is a good one, too. What is it? Oh, my
- 48:27Speaker 5: divorce is almost final. When a man says to a woman,
- 48:31Speaker 5: That means he's married and broke.
- 48:34Speaker 1: That means I've almost told her I'm cheating on her. Almost.
- 48:39Speaker 1: I'm thinking about it.
- 48:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:41Speaker 6: Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 48:43Speaker 5: It's really great. And then, oh, well, anyway, so it's
- 48:49Speaker 5: the Hollywood to English Dictionary.
- 48:51Speaker 1: What's the best way to find?
- 48:52Speaker 5: Oh, well, Amazon. Amazon. Amazon. And, of course, you know,
- 48:58Speaker 5: I have my website.
- 48:59Speaker 1: Stop by your site.
- 49:00Speaker 5: Mm-hmm. Yeah. JudyTenuta.com. Awesome. And I'm also on Twitter at
- 49:08Speaker 5: Judy Tenuta.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Are you embracing the social media?
- 49:11Speaker 5: Oh, you know what?
- 49:12Speaker 1: It's a different world.
- 49:14Speaker 5: I know. My gay man does that for me.
- 49:16Speaker 6: That's terrible. But I am.
- 49:18Speaker 5: I'm getting better at it. i'm getting better at twittering Yeah,
- 49:23Speaker 5: so I'm getting.
- 49:25Speaker 6: But I know that you must... I'm not thrilled with Twitter.
- 49:28Speaker 1: I know, because it's... 140 characters is annoying.
- 49:30Speaker 5: But I don't need to know about people's physical functions
- 49:34Speaker 5: all day long.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Just your food. I'm going to take a picture of
- 49:38Speaker 1: my bagel and post it on Twitter.
- 49:39Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 49:40Speaker 5: But that... No, but that's cruel. Because they will have
- 49:44Speaker 5: bagel envy.
- 49:45Speaker 1: They should.
- 49:45Speaker 5: They will have bagel.
- 49:46Speaker 1: They've got awesome bagels and they don't.
- 49:48Speaker 5: Okay. That one is just great. Bagel envy. And so anyway, yeah,
- 49:56Speaker 5: that's what's going on.
- 49:58Speaker 1: Definitely. Well, what I was going to ask, again, you
- 50:01Speaker 1: talked about coming up in the middle of that comedy boom. Yeah.
- 50:04Speaker 1: Then you hit that weird drought of like 15 years
- 50:08Speaker 1: of like comedy really shifted. And now there's this new resurgence,
- 50:12Speaker 1: but it's very different than it used to be. So
- 50:14Speaker 1: I wonder what your thoughts were on the comedy scene now.
- 50:17Speaker 5: Because of Comedy Central and they would have all these
- 50:19Speaker 5: comedy contests, the funniest comic in, you know, Bloland USA.
- 50:24Speaker 5: But they would televise it. And so then, yeah, so,
- 50:29Speaker 5: which is kind of cool. You know, you got comics
- 50:32Speaker 5: from all over. And I'm enjoying watching these.
- 50:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 50:39Speaker 5: Some of these new comics it feels.
- 50:42Speaker 1: It feels like there's a lot more of a a
- 50:44Speaker 1: system at work now and like a network going on
- 50:47Speaker 1: and definitely like and.
- 50:48Speaker 5: It's because of the social media.
- 50:50Speaker 1: Yeah well and and i think the new media like
- 50:53Speaker 1: there's a lot of like i hardly know of any
- 50:56Speaker 1: la-based comics that don't already have their own show going
- 51:00Speaker 1: usually a podcast So it's like there's such a network
- 51:04Speaker 1: of podcasting comics.
- 51:06Speaker 5: The goddess needs to have a podcast. I think so.
- 51:09Speaker 5: You know, I got to get it together. I got
- 51:12Speaker 5: to do the podcast.
- 51:14Speaker 1: We can work it out. We can put you on
- 51:15Speaker 1: the Meltdown Network here and get your show going.
- 51:18Speaker 5: Yeah, I would love to do that. And then I
- 51:22Speaker 5: interview you? Is that what happens?
- 51:25Speaker 1: We'll reverse it. You have to bring me out to L.A. then.
- 51:27Speaker 1: And then we'll look at all the weird people wandering by.
- 51:30Speaker 5: Oh, that is so fun.
- 51:32Speaker 1: And I'll bring you some bagels.
- 51:33Speaker 6: Oh, well.
- 51:34Speaker 1: I'm sure they have bagels, but these are special bagels.
- 51:37Speaker 5: These are special bagels, but yeah, well, from Louisville.
- 51:41Speaker 6: Louisville.
- 51:43Speaker 5: Why don't you bring me a bat from Slugger?
- 51:45Speaker 1: It's right down the street. Did you see the giant bat?
- 51:48Speaker 5: I can't miss it. Of course, I stopped at the
- 51:50Speaker 5: Muhammad Ali Museum.
- 51:52Speaker 1: That's a nice place.
- 51:53Speaker 5: The greatest. But here's what I most love.
- 51:56Speaker 4: Uh-oh.
- 51:57Speaker 5: The colonel is from here.
- 52:00Speaker 6: KFC. The Colonel.
- 52:02Speaker 5: Isn't that terrible?
- 52:04Speaker 1: I grew up on KFC.
- 52:04Speaker 5: I've seen the Colonel. Is that bad?
- 52:07Speaker 1: I saw the Colonel.
- 52:08Speaker 6: You saw the Colonel?
- 52:09Speaker 1: Before he passed on.
- 52:11Speaker 5: Because you're from here?
- 52:12Speaker 1: As a little kid.
- 52:13Speaker 6: You didn't.
- 52:13Speaker 5: It's like seeing Santa Claus.
- 52:15Speaker 1: I was just like, who's this little guy in a
- 52:17Speaker 1: white suit? He always was that. It wasn't just the promotional.
- 52:21Speaker 1: He would be out in the world wearing that suit.
- 52:23Speaker 1: That was his thing.
- 52:24Speaker 5: I love that story.
- 52:25Speaker 6: And was he a little guy?
- 52:27Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 52:28Speaker 6: Well, you were a little kid, so he looked big
- 52:30Speaker 6: to you.
- 52:31Speaker 1: I was just like, who's that old weird white-haired guy?
- 52:33Speaker 5: Yeah. Colonel Sanders. KFC.
- 52:36Speaker 1: He's also very nearby. He's buried. If you need to
- 52:39Speaker 1: make a trip over to the... Oh, my God. You
- 52:41Speaker 1: can go visit the grave of the colonel.
- 52:43Speaker 5: His chicken's done, honey. It is done.
- 52:47Speaker 1: I know, but I love... I've been to his resting place.
- 52:49Speaker 5: Oh, that's nice. I love that.
- 52:52Speaker 6: It came full circle.
- 52:52Speaker 5: I love that.
- 52:53Speaker 6: And then, of course... church hill down.
- 52:56Speaker 5: Church hill down church hill down i'm gonna saddle up
- 52:59Speaker 5: i'm gonna saddle.
- 53:01Speaker 9: Up and ride ride ride around church hill down love
- 53:06Speaker 9: it nice i've never been to the fun tucky derby
- 53:09Speaker 9: i call it fun tucky here.
- 53:11Speaker 1: Fun tucky depends on which side you're on if you're
- 53:15Speaker 1: up in the stands in the in the nice seats
- 53:17Speaker 1: but you go down with the scary people in the middle.
- 53:19Speaker 6: Oh they're scary people I don't know.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Well, they're just drunken idiots.
- 53:23Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
- 53:23Speaker 1: No offense if you're a drunken idiot at home.
- 53:26Speaker 6: Oh, I wouldn't be that.
- 53:27Speaker 5: I'd be in like a seven-foot-tall hat.
- 53:29Speaker 1: You need to be up in the goddess seats up top.
- 53:31Speaker 6: I need the goddess seats. Yeah, I like.
- 53:33Speaker 5: Yeah, we're Anna Nicole Smith and... Well, of course.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Not so much these days.
- 53:36Speaker 5: No, not so much these days. Yeah, you don't want
- 53:38Speaker 5: to be there. But, oh, I don't know all of
- 53:42Speaker 5: your upper-class people here.
- 53:44Speaker 1: Yeah. If we have any. I don't get to go there.
- 53:47Speaker 5: But I don't know. You know it's famous for that.
- 53:50Speaker 5: And then, of course... Well, of course, I did have
- 53:52Speaker 5: to stop by the Jennifer Lawrence house.
- 53:55Speaker 1: Was she there?
- 53:56Speaker 5: Which I don't know where it is.
- 53:58Speaker 6: No, but her parents.
- 54:00Speaker 5: We love it.
- 54:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:02Speaker 6: Hunger.
- 54:03Speaker 5: I'm hungering for the Hunger Games.
- 54:05Speaker 1: I'm sure they are now. Keep making those, Jennifer.
- 54:08Speaker 5: Yeah. Could there be more blockbusters in her pants? I
- 54:12Speaker 5: don't think so.
- 54:12Speaker 1: I have someone I know who's kind of, and it's funny,
- 54:17Speaker 1: it's not, people would assume that I would be doing this. No,
- 54:19Speaker 1: this is like a woman and she like lives sort
- 54:21Speaker 1: of in the neighborhood where her parents live.
- 54:23Speaker 5: Oh, wow.
- 54:23Speaker 1: So she's constantly like, I just, once or twice a week,
- 54:26Speaker 1: I'll be like, you know, you're kind of stalking him, right?
- 54:30Speaker 1: She'll be like, well, I drove by and the shades
- 54:32Speaker 1: were open and I looked in. I'm like, that's just
- 54:34Speaker 1: creepy is what that is. And then she'll be like,
- 54:37Speaker 1: I think it was her car that was there. I
- 54:38Speaker 1: think she's back home this weekend. I'm like, you really
- 54:41Speaker 1: are spending a little too much time watching the Lawrence house, okay?
- 54:45Speaker 5: Anyway, I don't know where it is. Don't worry, I'm.
- 54:48Speaker 1: Not stalking you. That's okay. I'm just looking out for Jennifer.
- 54:52Speaker 5: I got homemade potato chips.
- 54:53Speaker 1: Uh-oh.
- 54:54Speaker 5: But I gotta have one now.
- 54:55Speaker 1: Okay, go for it. Listen to the crunch.
- 54:59Speaker 4: Mmm.
- 54:59Speaker 5: Nice. Here's one thing while I'm on the road. My
- 55:03Speaker 5: addiction is potato chips. After I'm done on stage, you know,
- 55:08Speaker 5: people say, can we get you a sandwich? No, I
- 55:10Speaker 5: need real homemade potato chips.
- 55:12Speaker 1: Real potato chips. Not even mass marketed bagged ones. You
- 55:17Speaker 1: can't get by with those.
- 55:18Speaker 5: They make them fresh. All right. But I got to
- 55:23Speaker 5: stop eating them. But I can't. I can't help it.
- 55:27Speaker 1: You can't fight it.
- 55:28Speaker 5: I can't. Okay, I'm sorry I'm crunching on my chips now.
- 55:32Speaker 1: It's atmosphere.
- 55:34Speaker 6: A bagel would.
- 55:35Speaker 5: Be less noise, but I got to have my chips.
- 55:37Speaker 5: The bagels are for you.
- 55:39Speaker 1: I will make you some. But no, I was just
- 55:44Speaker 1: on the comedy scene thing. I don't know. Are you
- 55:47Speaker 1: fitting in with the current setup now? Because it is
- 55:50Speaker 1: very different. It seems like there's a very different way
- 55:53Speaker 1: that's going on there.
- 55:54Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm doing the Judy, the goddess podcast.
- 55:57Speaker 1: It's kicking in now. But it seems like everybody has
- 56:00Speaker 1: a show and they all cross over on each other's shows.
- 56:02Speaker 5: Well, you call it a show, but it's a podcast.
- 56:04Speaker 5: You know, everybody has a show now, even the homeless
- 56:07Speaker 5: guy in his shopping cart.
- 56:08Speaker 1: It's true.
- 56:09Speaker 5: So what difference does.
- 56:10Speaker 6: It, you know?
- 56:11Speaker 1: That's what I wonder. And being, you know, again, I
- 56:14Speaker 1: was doing it before there were this many. I could
- 56:16Speaker 1: name all the shows when I started doing it. And now, like,
- 56:19Speaker 1: everybody has one. So I'm like, at what point do
- 56:21Speaker 1: we hit that breaking point where, We're not getting out
- 56:23Speaker 1: to anybody because everybody's already recording their own show, so
- 56:27Speaker 1: they're not listening to your show. So it's like we're
- 56:29Speaker 1: all just sitting there talking to ourselves all day long. Like,
- 56:33Speaker 1: at what point are we oversaturated?
- 56:37Speaker 5: I can do a podcast at the airport and just
- 56:39Speaker 5: talk to myself because that's what everybody does.
- 56:41Speaker 1: I kind of, yeah. I've heard some that aren't that
- 56:43Speaker 1: far removed from that. So you might as well at
- 56:45Speaker 1: this point.
- 56:47Speaker 5: Is it wrong that I'm crunching on my chips?
- 56:49Speaker 1: You need your chips.
- 56:50Speaker 6: I need my chips. Chips.
- 56:55Speaker 5: Okay, you can hear me crunching. Sorry. Sorry. I gotta
- 57:01Speaker 5: have it. Okay, I'm almost done with it.
- 57:03Speaker 1: Okay, get your chip fix in.
- 57:06Speaker 5: Okay. I did it. That's the one thing about me.
- 57:11Speaker 5: I only eat a little bit at a time. 70
- 57:14Speaker 5: times a day.
- 57:16Speaker 1: I've heard that's a better strategy, actually.
- 57:18Speaker 5: People say, how do you stay petite? I eat 70
- 57:20Speaker 5: times a day.
- 57:21Speaker 1: It's small meals. That's how you do it. Not meals.
- 57:24Speaker 7: Why?
- 57:25Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. It's throughout the day.
- 57:26Speaker 5: It's like I have three bites 70 times a day.
- 57:30Speaker 5: That's the best way. It's a system.
- 57:33Speaker 1: I might have to look into this. Well, we touched
- 57:36Speaker 1: on the movie thing. I was going to ask, I
- 57:38Speaker 1: do like kind of getting people's taste in stuff. What
- 57:40Speaker 1: is it that you... like to watch that's that's not
- 57:43Speaker 1: necessarily related to you just when you're home watching stuff
- 57:46Speaker 1: what are your kind of movies.
- 57:47Speaker 5: Oh well my two favorite that i i love okay
- 57:51Speaker 5: i do love some jennifer lawrence i love i love
- 57:56Speaker 5: uh silver linings playbook and i love american hustle definitely
- 58:01Speaker 5: but then there are some older movies that oh okay
- 58:05Speaker 5: i love uh watching um uh oh i just saw
- 58:09Speaker 5: it too what is it it's the uh wedding crashers.
- 58:13Speaker 1: Okay do you remember that yeah yeah i love they
- 58:16Speaker 1: they keep trying to remake that it seems yeah they
- 58:18Speaker 1: just did that google movie that seemed like hey let's
- 58:21Speaker 1: get it.
- 58:22Speaker 5: Back no no no no they can't do that but.
- 58:25Speaker 1: The wedding crashers wedding crashers they did kind of hit
- 58:27Speaker 1: the right oh yeah.
- 58:30Speaker 5: Uh uh 40 year old virgin.
- 58:33Speaker 1: They have the towel run i love.
- 58:35Speaker 5: That um then i um There's some movies that I
- 58:41Speaker 5: have to give it a rest because I've seen it
- 58:43Speaker 5: so many times, like Big.
- 58:45Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 58:45Speaker 5: So I give that a rest, and then I'll see it. And, oh,
- 58:49Speaker 5: I love. Now, some movies, they get too sad at
- 58:54Speaker 5: the end, but I love the beginning, like Terms of Endearment. No,
- 58:57Speaker 5: I'm sorry, Terms of Endearment. I can watch that until
- 59:01Speaker 5: a certain point, then I'm not watching it.
- 59:02Speaker 1: It's not an upbeat movie.
- 59:05Speaker 6: You what?
- 59:06Speaker 1: It's not an upbeat movie.
- 59:07Speaker 5: No, no, no. But I love Shirley. MacLaine and Deborah
- 59:11Speaker 5: Winger fighting in it. That's good. And what else? What else? Oh, okay.
- 59:18Speaker 5: I like, can I name some?
- 59:21Speaker 4: Go for it.
- 59:22Speaker 5: This is bad that I, I got to watch Modern Family.
- 59:27Speaker 1: Okay. It's funny. It's one of those, yeah, I remember
- 59:31Speaker 1: hearing that first season, it was getting all this good buzz,
- 59:33Speaker 1: and I was like, all right. Because I'd given up
- 59:36Speaker 1: on most TV at this point, and I started watching,
- 59:38Speaker 1: and I'm like, they weren't kidding. It's well-written. It is funny.
- 59:42Speaker 1: It's well-shot. It's funny. It's a good show.
- 59:45Speaker 5: When you can laugh out loud, that's good. It's clever.
- 59:47Speaker 5: It is. And not that it's fun. It's just a
- 59:50Speaker 5: well-written The Good Wife. I like that.
- 59:54Speaker 1: Actually, one of the cast is from here now.
- 59:56Speaker 4: Really?
- 59:57Speaker 1: The blonde that started this last season. Oh, yeah.
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: But Will shouldn't have left. What is that? I'm mad
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: at that.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: I don't know what that, right? That was just to
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: catch everybody off guard.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: But, and then, oh, okay. But let's go back to movies.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: And.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: Action movies. You love action movies.
- 1:00:19Speaker 6: No, wait.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: I do, actually.
- 1:00:21Speaker 5: I just saw. Okay, don't... I meant Captain America. Love
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: Captain America.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Both of them are good, but that new one... Gotta
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: get some Chris Evans. That new one's good.
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: Gotta get that going on.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: That new one's good. Gotta get that.
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Do you like the entire Marvel Universe? This weird web
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: they're weaving now?
- 1:00:37Speaker 6: I do.
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: It's wrong, but I gotta see it. Yeah.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: I love... But I love Captain America.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: That was good.
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: And... Oh, okay. When it first came out, that Robert
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: Downey Jr.
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: In.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: Which, the Iron Man stuff?
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, but before that, he played all the... He was... Oh, God.
- 1:01:04Speaker 5: They were filming Going to War, but.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: Oh, Tropic Thunder.
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: Oh, God! I laughed so hard. I love that.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: It's one of those, I've said, of like, the only
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: person working today who could get away with that is
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: Robert Downey Jr.
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: He really is overdue for his Oscar. He's overdue.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: He was pushing for it in the early days, and
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: then he fell down the hole.
- 1:01:26Speaker 5: Oh, and then there's some other romantic comedies that I
- 1:01:29Speaker 5: really love, and one of them is.
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: What's the one where Tom Cruise plays the baseball agent?
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Oh, Jerry Maguire.
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: Jerry Maguire. I like that.
- 1:01:40Speaker 7: Jerry Maguire.
- 1:01:41Speaker 5: Jerry Maguire. Got me some Cuba Gooding Jr. Yeah, that's good.
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: And I don't know. And then I go to movies
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: all the time. I love movies.
- 1:01:53Speaker 6: I love them, love them, love them.
- 1:01:54Speaker 5: Can't help it. Can't help it. What did I just see, too? Oh, Maleficent.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: Those are her real cheekbones. Yeah. You don't mess with Angelina.
- 1:02:03Speaker 5: No, but by the way, she was great. It was great.
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: And what else did I just see? I saw the
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: other blockbuster. What was last week? I don't know.
- 1:02:16Speaker 6: Whatever it was.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: X-Men.
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: Yeah, that was. I didn't like that as much as
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: the other one.
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: I like X-Men. Godzilla had some issues with.
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: Oh, Godzilla. Yeah, Godzilla.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: Godzilla.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: I like the end of Godzilla.
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I liked it when it was over. Godzilla, yeah.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: I like the big battle at the end, but the
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: middle part, I'm like, why are we watching these people?
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I didn't. Yeah, I was not into that one. Yeah, no.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: Definitely.
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: Yeah, so anyway, I don't know if that.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: Definitely. Yeah, I just kind of like to hear what
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: other people think. Enjoy and what your taste in movies is.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: You've got a good run.
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: I have a good kind of eclectic. I like some
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: action films and some funny films.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: Right? Classic old stuff? How far back do you go
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: with your classic Hollywood stuff?
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: Oh, you mean like if I watch, well, when I
- 1:03:12Speaker 5: was a little girl, and you know how my parents
- 1:03:16Speaker 5: would go out for New Year's Eve, they'd have us,
- 1:03:19Speaker 5: me and my brothers and sister watch Well, you know,
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: on New Year's Eve, they play all the old, like,
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire and W.C. Fields and the
- 1:03:29Speaker 5: Marx Brothers. So all of that I would see, of course.
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: But I remember coming home. My brothers. Oh, that's what
- 1:03:36Speaker 5: it was. Yeah, coming home. Three Stooges all the time.
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: And I love the three. I'm the only girl I
- 1:03:42Speaker 5: know that loves the Three Stooges.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: There's the comedy seeping in that early on. I love.
- 1:03:46Speaker 5: But I loved the movie they made of it. They
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: made a great Three Stooges movie.
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:03:51Speaker 6: Those guys were awesome.
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: It was really. I didn't know that was Sean Hayes. Yeah.
- 1:03:55Speaker 6: Oh, he was great.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: It was kind of underrated because, yeah, nobody. It got
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: so switched around. Like they had those big stars that
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: were supposed to star on it, and then that got scrapped,
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: and they brought in those.
- 1:04:06Speaker 6: Oh, what happened?
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Who was supposed to? It was like Sean Penn and
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: like George Clooney or something. I'm like, you can't.
- 1:04:13Speaker 5: No, no, no. They can't do those voices.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: Not that serious. Like you're taking it the wrong direction.
- 1:04:18Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they learned their lesson.
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: The guy who played Curly, oh, he was awesome.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Will Sasso, I think. Oh, he was awesome.
- 1:04:28Speaker 5: Yeah, he nailed it. And all of them, all of
- 1:04:31Speaker 5: them were great, fantastic. Yeah, I loved that movie. They
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: were terrific. Yeah.
- 1:04:39Speaker 6: Yeah, so I watched all that.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: Very cool.
- 1:04:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: Well, do you have other stuff you want to tell
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: people about? You mentioned the book.
- 1:04:47Speaker 5: I plan on going to prison and having my reality
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: show from there because, come on.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: Orange is the new black.
- 1:04:55Speaker 5: Yeah. Goddess is the new orange. That'll be it. Yeah,
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: that'll be it. Oh, my God. I'll be on Netflix.
