- 0:26right, guys. for today's lead story.
- 0:28It's one that I wish that we didn't have
- 0:30to talk about, but we have to
- 0:31congratulate
- 0:33>> Carolina Hurricanes.
- 0:34>> Oh, okay.
- 0:35>> Yeah.
- 0:36>> Okay.
- 0:36>> They they were the better team, man.
- 0:38They were the better team.
- 0:39>> Uh they also had the refs,
- 0:42>> the team ref.
- 0:43>> Well,
- 0:44>> I'm a little bitter of that that
- 0:46interference. It's no goal thing. That
- 0:48was a goal.
- 0:49>> Turn into a power play. everyone
- 0:51everyone on the next
- 0:52>> switch momentum but at the end of the
- 0:54day they they were the better team
- 0:57way more shots on goal
- 0:59>> it it hurts you know you get that close
- 1:01they they rolled over
- 1:03>> Colorado and I'm like oh my gosh
- 1:05>> wow they're better than we thought they
- 1:06were
- 1:07>> yeah and uh and then they were they were
- 1:09hanging in there they went down two
- 1:10goals and nothing like right off the bat
- 1:11and came back and
- 1:12>> they just really showed a lot of heart
- 1:14but at the end of the day uh
- 1:15>> Carolina was good
- 1:16>> between the crossarss and the
- 1:18>> and the refs
- 1:19>> right they did did a lot of postback
- 1:21>> and and a better team. So, also
- 1:23congratulations to our Vegas Golden
- 1:25Knights for being the Western Conference
- 1:26champions this year.
- 1:27>> Yeah, just making it
- 1:28>> and uh and providing us a lot of uh
- 1:30entertainment.
- 1:31>> Definitely
- 1:31>> love them. So, guys,
- 1:34>> unhappy news. I like this story. I do.
- 1:36>> It seems like premise saved. I you know,
- 1:39I I did not want to be driving to
- 1:40California on the times that we do or
- 1:42coming back from California and just
- 1:44seeing a ghost town there. There's a
- 1:45couple other ghost towns out on the 15.
- 1:48Uh that other one that's like in halfway
- 1:50between Prim and Vegas. I forgot what
- 1:52that uh Sloan or something like that
- 1:55>> exit. Yeah.
- 1:56>> Um yeah, that thing's just just a a hunk
- 1:58of concrete out there in the desert kind
- 2:00of and there's a bunch of other ghost
- 2:01towns obviously in Vegas. You had the
- 2:03the old gold rush stuff and
- 2:05>> um sad like Prim was heading heading
- 2:07that direction.
- 2:08>> Yes. Yes.
- 2:09>> But officially now uh it was like well
- 2:12>> the bid is in the regulatory
- 2:15>> stuff hurdles and stuff like this. I
- 2:17can't imagine you pick about like Caesar
- 2:19just got bought out. MGM's being
- 2:20talking. These are $18 billion deals.
- 2:22This one's going to be significantly
- 2:24less. I don't think the number has been
- 2:25disclosed yet, but Terribles the gas
- 2:28station chain in in Vegas. I
- 2:31>> don't quite understand this name. I
- 2:33mean, I know it's his name, but like
- 2:35>> do you really want to go to a casino
- 2:37name? Terribles,
- 2:38>> right?
- 2:39>> So, maybe they're not going to use that
- 2:40name that use the that you still use
- 2:42while Bill.
- 2:42>> Those are all the gas station. So,
- 2:45>> and uh and his off-road race team. He's
- 2:48got the terrible race team.
- 2:50>> Yeah.
- 2:50>> But uh I don't know, man. I
- 2:54>> I don't do a lot out there. We don't
- 2:56have a lot of reason to go out there,
- 2:57but I definitely don't like driving by a
- 2:59a place that's just run down.
- 3:01>> There was there was a time when we lived
- 3:03in California, it was kind of a almost
- 3:06as a joke, we stop you stop and like we
- 3:08got to get our gamble on, right? But we
- 3:10really stop and get gas. is a little bit
- 3:12cheaper over over there over the over
- 3:14the in Nevada than it was in California
- 3:15where we were coming from at the time.
- 3:17Uh you know, stop and use the restroom.
- 3:19>> I do like that they're saving 300 jobs,
- 3:21300 plus jobs, 344. But
- 3:23>> people that were used to actually stay
- 3:24there, you know, it's like they rather
- 3:26stay there than go all the way into
- 3:27Vegas and deal with
- 3:27>> or they live out in Sloan or Sandy
- 3:30Valley and it's it's an easy commute
- 3:32instead of coming into Vegas. So, I mean
- 3:34there there are a lot of positives.
- 3:36There's a golf course out there. I've
- 3:37played it.
- 3:38>> The $800 or $800 people that live in
- 3:40Baker,
- 3:40>> that too. forget about them.
- 3:41>> Yeah, that too.
- 3:42>> So,
- 3:43>> so yeah, I'm glad they're
- 3:44>> This is like a last minute thing, man.
- 3:45They they announced in May that they
- 3:47were closing everything down.
- 3:49>> Uh and and July 4th was going to be
- 3:50their last day. And so this is
- 3:52>> they should be getting this for pennies
- 3:54on the dollar. I can't imagine whoever
- 3:55owns it is going to take a a 100% loss.
- 3:58Why not
- 3:59>> sell it for just whatever they'll give
- 4:01you?
- 4:01>> I'm assuming they're getting a good deal
- 4:02on it. Now,
- 4:04>> is that going to turn out ultimately be
- 4:05a good deal? There's a reason why Prim
- 4:06is struggling,
- 4:07>> right? What's going to actually fix Prim
- 4:09at this point is hard to say. There is a
- 4:11lot of commuter traffic that comes in
- 4:12from California that goes right by there
- 4:14all the time. So, another cool news for
- 4:16Vegas specifically, the NBA summer
- 4:19league is now locked into Vegas through
- 4:212028. And I I'm of the opinion that
- 4:24sports are really the only thing that
- 4:25can save Vegas at this point and
- 4:27entertainment because here we are in
- 4:29Atlantic City and now I mean when I was
- 4:31a kid it was this or Vegas,
- 4:33>> right?
- 4:34>> That was it. I mean, if you want to go
- 4:36to a casino in the United States, brick
- 4:38and mortar, it was this
- 4:39>> or Vegas. You know, obviously Atlantic
- 4:42City is struggling now because
- 4:44>> New York City has a casino. Philadelphia
- 4:46has a casino
- 4:48casinos. I mean,
- 4:49>> they're everywhere.
- 4:50>> There's only three sides here to
- 4:51surround New Jersey because the other
- 4:53side's the ocean. I'm surprised that
- 4:54there isn't a barge out there with a
- 4:56casino on it, but north, west, and south
- 4:58are casinos. And so like, you know,
- 4:59obviously Atlantic City struggles trying
- 5:02to pull people in here because there's
- 5:03other surrounding things. Vegas has the
- 5:05same problem, right? There's there's
- 5:07casinos in 30 states. You have a value
- 5:09proposition. Why would you fly to Vegas
- 5:12>> for hundreds of dollars, stay there, and
- 5:14feel like you're getting ripped off?
- 5:15>> Well, I mean, you can drive 20 minutes
- 5:17down the street,
- 5:18>> right? Sports and entertainment. You got
- 5:20to
- 5:21>> the sports and entertainment. I think
- 5:22it's the sports and entertainment
- 5:23capital of the world.
- 5:25>> It's becoming the food capital also. You
- 5:27know that, right?
- 5:27>> 100%. 100%. You have things like the
- 5:30summer league. You want to go see a
- 5:31special experience that you can't see
- 5:32anywhere else,
- 5:33>> you got to come to Vegas. You want to
- 5:34see a lot of USC fights, you come to
- 5:36Vegas. You want to see
- 5:37>> the sphere or you know, you can go see a
- 5:39UFC fight on the lawn at the White
- 5:41House.
- 5:41>> That's true. I think that actually
- 5:42>> it happened.
- 5:43>> It just happened yesterday. We were so
- 5:45busy. We're actually here in Atlantic
- 5:47City filming this uh that we didn't even
- 5:49see it. We were watching the the Vegas
- 5:50Golden Knights game last night. I saw a
- 5:52little clip of it and it was the first
- 5:53time that I've ever seen the president
- 5:58of the United States do a walk out like
- 6:01a UFC fighter to music and everything.
- 6:04>> I actually think he did that once
- 6:06before. Did he do that? I think so. I'm
- 6:08not
- 6:08>> I I didn't see it, but it was pretty
- 6:11They were all talking about it.
- 6:12>> Here's the sad thing. Just talking about
- 6:14this just talking about the fact that
- 6:15this even happened. Someone's mad.
- 6:16>> Yeah. Don't be mad about it. We're just
- 6:19want this to happen. I
- 6:21>> and it and it's just one of those things
- 6:22that just makes us laugh. You know our
- 6:24personalities by now. Makes us laugh.
- 6:27>> Anyway, NBA summer league uh through
- 6:30through 2028. So, it's it's not a huge
- 6:32extension, but
- 6:34>> they are there. And I and I do believe
- 6:35that Vegas is going to get enough.
- 6:38They'll keep on. You know, the players
- 6:40love to come. They love it. So, they
- 6:43they want it. They're gonna they're
- 6:45gonna read,
- 6:45>> you know, the old Dennis Robin Vegas
- 6:47story.
- 6:47>> Oh, baby. Yes. Michael Jordan. Michael
- 6:50Jordan showed up and Carmel Electra
- 6:52opened the door and Michael Jordan was
- 6:54standing there coming to get
- 6:55>> I love this story. I just saw a clip of
- 6:57it again. I don't know why that just
- 6:59came up.
- 6:59>> If you're you're on the internet just
- 7:01looking around.
- 7:02>> Oh my god.
- 7:02>> Look up Rodman goes to Vegas for 3 days.
- 7:05Jordan has to find him.
- 7:06>> Yeah, it's it's it's really good.
- 7:08>> Pretty funny.
- 7:08>> Uh normally a fast food chain opening up
- 7:12>> wouldn't location is not is not
- 7:14headlined.
- 7:14>> It wouldn't excite you. Well,
- 7:16>> this one will
- 7:17>> now burger opening up a location anyway
- 7:19excites me,
- 7:19>> right? That's what I'm saying.
- 7:20>> We try to we try to pick and choose for
- 7:22our audience because they probably don't
- 7:24care as much as I do. But this is and I
- 7:27don't understand how this isn't the
- 7:28largest, but it's the second largest
- 7:29In-N-Out burger location,
- 7:31>> but that's indoor seating,
- 7:33>> right?
- 7:34>> I think it's the largest with the huge
- 7:36patio.
- 7:37>> Yes,
- 7:37>> it's massive.
- 7:38>> It's This is amazing.
- 7:40>> It's uh the Boulevard Mall, BLVD, brand
- 7:43new mall. It's up on like a second
- 7:45level. It has one of the best views of
- 7:47Las Vegas
- 7:49>> of the strip. Yeah.
- 7:50>> Yeah. Right across the street.
- 7:52>> Have a view of the fountains. I would
- 7:54imagine it's going to have
- 7:55>> Well, it's not quite close enough to the
- 7:57fountain.
- 7:58>> I think it was cuz it's straight there.
- 7:59I don't think that it goes around.
- 8:01>> I don't know that you can really It's
- 8:02It'd be really close. It'd be kind of a
- 8:04weird view of the kind.
- 8:05>> It's over by Park MGM more than it is.
- 8:09You've got a few spots in between.
- 8:11>> Here's what I'm going to do. I have a
- 8:12plan. Let's go up there for sure.
- 8:14>> My plan is to go there
- 8:16>> when we film at Parking GM one day.
- 8:18Let's do that. I'm already there.
- 8:20>> I have You got to wait.
- 8:21>> You got a better plan? I do. I do. I'm
- 8:23going to go up there.
- 8:24>> I'm going to order probably about 114
- 8:28double doubles.
- 8:29>> 114
- 8:30>> during the Formula 1 race and just sit
- 8:32on the rail.
- 8:33>> Sit there and eat and hand them out.
- 8:34>> No, just watch the race.
- 8:35>> You're going to need 114.
- 8:37>> Well, it's cheaper than buying a Formula
- 8:381 ticket.
- 8:39>> That's true. Just sit there. But Formula
- 8:411 brings a lot of money to the town and
- 8:42a lot of jobs and a lot of good things,
- 8:44too.
- 8:44>> Yeah, but I want to watch it for free.
- 8:46So, I'm going to sit there at the
- 8:46In-N-Out Burger
- 8:47>> and watch the Formula 1 right by there.
- 8:50>> I think if you just get 10, you'd be
- 8:51good.
- 8:52>> So, the Formula 1 doesn't actually zoom
- 8:54by there, Mike. I'm sorry to tell you.
- 8:55>> It's on the other side of the street.
- 8:56You can still see it.
- 8:57>> It's uh it turns at Harmon.
- 8:59>> Oh, is it
- 9:01>> Oh, you're right.
- 9:02>> Yeah, it's it's close. I mean, you can
- 9:04hear them
- 9:05>> and you can possibly see them.
- 9:06>> I'm going to go down there and listen to
- 9:08the Formula One. You're right. turn.
- 9:09>> Kind of like uh like when you're in in a
- 9:12big city with an ocean view and you look
- 9:14out over the balcony,
- 9:16>> you'd be able to see them that way.
- 9:18>> It's kind of like it says ocean view.
- 9:20You open up the curtains and it's a
- 9:21painting of the ocean, too.
- 9:23>> It' be kind of like that. Okay. I knew
- 9:24that.
- 9:25>> Uh yeah, you're not you're not too far
- 9:28off.
- 9:28>> You definitely hear it. It's definitely
- 9:29in the I can hear it zone.
- 9:32>> We're heading to taking a break.
- 9:33>> Yeah. Watch.
- 9:35>> Yeah. Yeah. Here's our badges.
- 9:36>> All right. Cool.
- 9:38Nice. All right. Cool, man.
- 9:40>> All right. Thanks, brother. Thanks for
- 9:41checking on us.
- 9:41>> Everything good?
- 9:42>> Yeah. Have my gun.
- 9:43>> All right. Thanks, brother.
- 9:44>> Thank you.
- 9:46>> Cut that out.
- 9:47>> No problem.
- 9:52>> All right. Pen and Teller.
- 9:53>> Sorry to make you do an edit, Lynon.
- 9:55We're trying to make this as easy as
- 9:56possible for you. The security was
- 9:57>> We got badges everywhere.
- 10:01>> I actually think he might not have said
- 10:02anything to us cuz he saw the badge, but
- 10:04Oh,
- 10:04>> he kind of leaned in.
- 10:05>> We wanted to be respectful and polite.
- 10:08All right, guys. Pen and Teller.
- 10:09>> Pen and Teller. We love Pen and Teller.
- 10:11>> Really, really good show.
- 10:12>> And the Rio, you know, we love the Rio.
- 10:13>> Yeah. Three more years. Another
- 10:14three-year contract. I don't think they
- 10:16can sign them for 10 more years as
- 10:17they're starting to get old.
- 10:18>> Yeah, they are getting a little old and
- 10:19they probably want to retire at some
- 10:21point.
- 10:21>> I would think so. We just saw this.
- 10:24>> I don't know if it was when I say this
- 10:26year, I'm thinking 2026. Literally,
- 10:29>> certainly within the last 12 months, you
- 10:30know, we have seen them. Uh,
- 10:35>> I can't believe how good that show is.
- 10:36>> Very good.
- 10:37>> It's been a long time since I've seen
- 10:38it. I had forgotten how good it was. I,
- 10:40you know, it's funny. I actually saw
- 10:41them
- 10:41>> as a very young child, like in
- 10:44elementary school in Washington DC,
- 10:46National Theater. And I remember that
- 10:48cuz I like I always love magic. Like I I
- 10:50still even as an adult, I still watch a
- 10:52lot of these like hard trick magic
- 10:53things. I I love Shenlim uh and a couple
- 10:56of the other magic shows in town.
- 10:58Whenever we're watching America's Got
- 10:59Talent and one of these magicians come
- 11:01on, I just I I love magic. I don't know
- 11:02what it is. I just I think that I don't
- 11:05believe in magic. I just I believe in
- 11:06the talent of people.
- 11:08>> Well, they also have that TV show where
- 11:10they they uh
- 11:11>> fool us.
- 11:12>> Yeah, they have fool us where they Yeah.
- 11:14people come and try and
- 11:15>> and trick use a trick to see whether or
- 11:19not they can solve what the trick was.
- 11:21>> Full. It's a lot of It's a lot of fun to
- 11:23watch, too. But this show at the Rio is
- 11:26right there in front of you. Amazing
- 11:28show. Got to go check that out. It's one
- 11:30of the longest running shows in Vegas.
- 11:32It's probably about to be the longest
- 11:34show in Vegas. I think you David
- 11:35Copperfield's out.
- 11:37>> Yeah.
- 11:37>> Keratop probably would be the other one
- 11:39that's been there for
- 11:41>> residency wise though. I don't know. Pen
- 11:42and Teller is probably longer
- 11:44>> cuz uh Keratop was actually over at MGM
- 11:47first,
- 11:48>> right? But he went on tour around the
- 11:50country also.
- 11:52>> I don't know if he look up the the
- 11:55>> Well, I know he was in Reno when I was
- 11:57living in Reno. I drove Carrot Top in
- 11:59the limo when I was a limo driver.
- 12:00>> It's good news to see cuz Rio just uh
- 12:02changed hands again. We're obviously uh
- 12:05very tight with the Rio. I like seeing
- 12:07these types of things happen cuz I'm
- 12:08hoping that they continue to improve
- 12:10their property and uh this is just a
- 12:12great draw for them. So, uh congrats to
- 12:14the Rio for for doing that.
- 12:15>> Another uh big performer. Uh one that
- 12:18you like, right? This
- 12:20I've seen him one time. I like him.
- 12:22Don't get me wrong. I like him. Another
- 12:24magic show.
- 12:25>> Yeah, I think he does a great job. I
- 12:26just don't remember any of his tricks so
- 12:29well that I was like, "Wow, like I have
- 12:31to come back to see this guy." So, I
- 12:33would probably need to go see him again.
- 12:35I know he was the America's Got Talent
- 12:37guy.
- 12:37>> Um, I probably would need to see him
- 12:39again because any magic for me is fun. I
- 12:41would I would highly recommend this
- 12:42show. Yeah. Uh if you guys get a chance
- 12:44to see this in Vegas and you don't want
- 12:46to go over to the Rio, I think that Matt
- 12:48Franco,
- 12:49>> one of the best
- 12:50>> is now when you're talking about the
- 12:53person, the the personality.
- 12:55>> He is so charismatic.
- 12:57>> Gotcha.
- 12:57>> I mean,
- 12:58>> that's what I feel like I remember.
- 12:59>> God, the guy is just got I mean like I
- 13:01wish
- 13:02>> that I had like his talent from that.
- 13:04>> He just smiles like constantly and just
- 13:06and just, you know, he he draws you in.
- 13:09He just has a special talent for that.
- 13:11And he's good with, you know, with cards
- 13:12and all the things, but
- 13:13>> yeah, I think he did something where he
- 13:15like threw stuff out into the crowd.
- 13:16>> Yeah, he did that. Yeah. A beach ball or
- 13:19something was out there and you that
- 13:21that's like a picks a random person and
- 13:22then like the whole thing comes. You're
- 13:23like, "How the hell did he do that?"
- 13:24>> Yeah. Yes. Yes. Yes. That's the part I
- 13:26remember and it was I I don't I have no
- 13:28idea.
- 13:28>> He does. You do a search on on YouTube.
- 13:31There's these shorts out there cuz I see
- 13:32him do all the time. There's one
- 13:33particular trick. I don't want to give
- 13:34it away, but he sits at a table kind of
- 13:36similar to where we're filming this
- 13:37right now. just a small little table and
- 13:40does this card trick closeup
- 13:42>> and you're like, "How does he possibly
- 13:44do that?" He makes the cards disappear.
- 13:46>> Yeah.
- 13:46>> Right in front of your face.
- 13:47>> Slide a hand in front of your face.
- 13:48>> Just like But there's no
- 13:49>> And they're gone. Yes. I don't I don't
- 13:51get it.
- 13:51>> Yeah. Uh 30,000 3,000th
- 13:54>> show. Yeah.
- 13:56>> Yeah.
- 13:58>> 3,000th performance at the link. That's
- 14:00a long
- 14:01>> Pretty awesome. It's pretty awesome.
- 14:02>> I think that they do He does more shows
- 14:05per year than Penantella does.
- 14:06>> Oh yeah. He's probably getting close to
- 14:08the number of shows as Pen and Teller. I
- 14:09don't know what their show count is.
- 14:11>> I feel like we actually saw him on house
- 14:12seats also.
- 14:13>> Yeah, he does come up on house seats
- 14:14almost all the time. It's I think for
- 14:16Wals we get to go for free.
- 14:17>> Pretty cool,
- 14:18>> guys. The Sigma Derby. Ryan, I know
- 14:21this. We have played this. We did on the
- 14:23channel.
- 14:23>> We've done it headtohead
- 14:24>> and I think I won 100 bucks from you
- 14:26that day.
- 14:27>> Yeah, we bet bigger than normal cuz I I
- 14:29didn't think I could possibly lose.
- 14:31>> Oh, he thought I I've been betting the
- 14:32horses my whole life.
- 14:33>> The Sigma Derby is this little derby.
- 14:35Not little. It's a gigantic horse
- 14:38>> arcade game that you can bet on. You put
- 14:39quarters in, like actual quarters.
- 14:41>> The oldest one, now they have tickets
- 14:43>> or dollars.
- 14:44>> Yeah. But the old one's like this.
- 14:44>> But the old one
- 14:45>> Oh, man. It's It's so bad that it's
- 14:48funny.
- 14:48>> It's fun. It's a lot of fun.
- 14:50>> It I mean, it's like it's it's a time
- 14:52warp.
- 14:52>> It's not like five horses, six horses,
- 14:54whatever. They run around the track.
- 14:55>> Yeah. Come on, baby. Come on. It's a lot
- 14:57of fun.
- 14:57>> Let's go. Six. Let's go six. Wait. And
- 14:59you can bet Wait, where the four come
- 15:00from? No. Six. Six.
- 15:02>> You can bet such a minimal amount of
- 15:03money. Hang out. have drinks
- 15:05>> and and it's a lot of fun.
- 15:07>> It's uh it's moving
- 15:08>> and they give you odds. Always take the
- 15:11long shot,
- 15:11>> right? It's moving from the D.
- 15:13>> Always take the seventh horse.
- 15:14>> I don't quite know why. Down to the
- 15:15Golden Gate. I think maybe because the
- 15:17Golden Gate went to all
- 15:18>> went all digital digital and Derek
- 15:20Stevens is is an insanely good marketer.
- 15:23Uh and he he knows what he's doing. They
- 15:26also have the circa down there and they
- 15:28have the D and it's Yeah, he's he knows
- 15:31what he's doing. He made the Golden Gate
- 15:32all digital. Yeah.
- 15:34>> Which I loved their party pit they had
- 15:35there for blackjack. I had one of my
- 15:38biggest nights in Vegas at their uh high
- 15:40limit blackjack room. Started with $25
- 15:43and ran it up to like 2 or 3,000 on 25
- 15:46bucks. It was it was insane. But now
- 15:48they're all digital.
- 15:49>> That's a cool story, bro. Guess what we
- 15:51did.
- 15:51>> We do go play bubble craps there every
- 15:53once in a while.
- 15:54>> Yeah. We turned $100 into 4,000 in
- 15:57Atlantic City. That video is gonna be
- 15:58coming out shortly.
- 15:59>> Yeah. You're gonna want to see that.
- 16:00>> Be amazing. Make sure you look out for
- 16:02that. It's probably going to be the
- 16:02title of the video, I'm guessing. So,
- 16:04you won't be able to miss it. So,
- 16:05>> right.
- 16:06>> Anyway, uh go check out Golden Gate down
- 16:08there for that.
- 16:10>> I kind of alluded to this earlier and I
- 16:13forgot that this was even in here, quite
- 16:14frankly, cuz it's been a couple days
- 16:16since I wrote this script.
- 16:17>> Oh, man.
- 16:18>> The Vegas is too expensive theme
- 16:20starting to kind of get louder and
- 16:22louder and louder. And this story
- 16:24>> disturbs me a lot because I'm a big like
- 16:27macro guy, right? and you look at at
- 16:30trends and like a lot of things will
- 16:33show themselves before other things like
- 16:35really show themselves. So you make it
- 16:37like
- 16:38>> you know this type of a thing where
- 16:40people are cancelling their trip at at a
- 16:42higher higher percentage higher higher
- 16:43frequency that might not show up in the
- 16:46quarterly profit margins yet or the
- 16:48annual reports of Vegas, right?
- 16:51>> But the most cancelled trip
- 16:54>> in 2026,
- 16:56>> oh my,
- 16:57>> is Las Vegas.
- 16:59Hate to hear that. I hate to hear that.
- 17:02>> The most canceled trip. It's not good.
- 17:05People are citing, you know, the the the
- 17:07high cost. People complain about
- 17:08parking, check-in fees, resort fees,
- 17:11$26.
- 17:13>> There's an old saying, it's nickel and
- 17:15dimming. People, you just
- 17:17>> it's out of control. It really is out of
- 17:18control.
- 17:19>> It's not good.
- 17:19>> They need to figure that out.
- 17:21>> Death by a,000 paper cuts.
- 17:22>> If they if all the casinos would get
- 17:24together and say, "We're not going to
- 17:25charge your parking. We're not going to
- 17:26charge resort fees, but we're all going
- 17:28to make our room $20 more.
- 17:30>> Then the people wouldn't complain so
- 17:32much about it because it would just be
- 17:34built into the cost of all. So when you
- 17:35went and looked at the Lux store and the
- 17:37room was $100 and you went to the next
- 17:39casino and it was $110 and the next one
- 17:41was $115, then you could pick based on
- 17:43which one you want to stay at and it
- 17:46would all work out. But instead they
- 17:47want to charge you $50 for the room, 20
- 17:50for parking, 20 for 40 for this, 60 for
- 17:52that. It it it adds up in people's
- 17:54minds. They fill nickel and dime. I
- 17:56don't like it.
- 17:57>> Yeah, I don't like it at all. Uh 65%
- 17:59people cancelling say it just comes down
- 18:01the cost that the the prices have gotten
- 18:03too expensive that for them to afford
- 18:04it. They had let's say budgeted $2,000.
- 18:06Now they feel like it's going to cost
- 18:07them 2500,
- 18:08>> right?
- 18:09>> Uh or they just feel like they're being
- 18:10ripped off.
- 18:12>> They're taking their gambling budget cuz
- 18:13it's really comes down to a gambling
- 18:14budget. They came budget and they can
- 18:16drive down to Atlantic City. Exactly.
- 18:18>> Instead of flying across the country.
- 18:20So, uh, and the people who cancel, 24%
- 18:24of them just switch their trip away from
- 18:26Vegas.
- 18:26>> It's brutal.
- 18:27>> It's like they're not just canceling the
- 18:28trip alltogether. They're like, I'm just
- 18:29going to move fly down to Florida or
- 18:31come down to Vegas or whatever. Maybe
- 18:32not gamble at all.
- 18:33>> Yeah. So, I really hope that Vegas
- 18:35figures this out that the challenge that
- 18:37I see, and we've talked about this more
- 18:38than once, is these CEOs who get
- 18:41inserted into these large casino
- 18:43conglomerates are
- 18:45>> graded, evaluated, whatever word you
- 18:47want to use,
- 18:48>> on a quarterly basis cuz they're public
- 18:51companies based on income.
- 18:52>> It's it's how much is the net profit for
- 18:54the casino, for the brand
- 18:56>> for January through March.
- 18:58>> Yes. April, if it doesn't go up, it's
- 19:01like, what are you doing wrong?
- 19:02>> Right. And it's hard to make a number
- 19:05like that that big of a number. We're
- 19:07we're in the millions and tens of
- 19:08millions, hundreds of millions. Well,
- 19:10per property.
- 19:11>> I mean, I worked at a well, no, I worked
- 19:13at a property years and years and years
- 19:15ago and I remember them cancelling
- 19:19bonuses because their profit was $22
- 19:23million out the door, everything paid
- 19:26for. That was their profit. But someone
- 19:29came and told them, "You're supposed to
- 19:31make $23 million this quarter or year,
- 19:35whatever it was, and they missed it by a
- 19:38million." They still made $22 million in
- 19:40their pocket.
- 19:42>> They cut all the bonuses. So, I mean,
- 19:44>> the challenge
- 19:44>> they So, maybe the person who gave them
- 19:46that number was wrong, but don't know,
- 19:48that's not possible that that guy could
- 19:49be wrong. We're just going to cut all
- 19:51bonuses. So, I mean, these corporations
- 19:53like this, it it's it's frustrating to
- 19:56see this happen for all those people
- 19:58that rely on that and they still pay
- 20:01these CEOs and huge millions of dollars.
- 20:05It's It's pretty crazy to me. It's
- 20:08frustrating. I don't know if you can
- 20:09hear the frustration in my voice.
- 20:10>> It's going to be okay, Ryan. I'll give
- 20:11you your bonus.
- 20:12>> I like it. I like it. Well, we get to
- 20:14bonus ourselves. So, you and I, we'll
- 20:17just bonus each other and then and then
- 20:19everyone will be happy in this business.
- 20:20We need to start getting paid first, but
- 20:22we're working on that.
- 20:23>> We're working on we'll be there soon.
- 20:24>> Yeah. Uh Boomer Sports Book keeps
- 20:26expanding. This is kind of crazy how
- 20:28quickly this has happened.
- 20:29>> Uh but I want to throw this in here
- 20:31because they they adding another
- 20:32location, 13 location, Silver
- 20:35>> Sevens. You know where that is?
- 20:36>> I actually don't.
- 20:38>> Right. Yeah. Right down the street from
- 20:39uh Hard Virgin, the old Hard Rock.
- 20:42>> Right on that next corner
- 20:44>> of Flamingo.
- 20:45>> Yeah. uh on the right as you're going
- 20:48north.
- 20:49>> Um it is uh where
- 20:52>> Davey used to take Mama. Mama loved
- 20:54gambling there.
- 20:55>> Yeah, Mama Jean.
- 20:56>> Yeah, Mama.
- 20:56>> Shout out Mama Jeene.
- 20:57>> Y
- 20:58>> uh yeah. So 13th location. That's pretty
- 21:00huge. I mean they're they're they're
- 21:01grassroots movement. They're getting
- 21:02into some of these smaller operations.
- 21:04>> Also Club Fortune. Okay.
- 21:06>> Yeah. Yeah. They're they're
- 21:09>> so if you guys hear are boomers, throw
- 21:11it down in the comments. I'm kind of
- 21:12curious if they're they're making a big
- 21:13enough wave that you've heard of I don't
- 21:15know if you know this, but uh Poker
- 21:17Palace, I think I've told you about this
- 21:19before, has an incredible prime rib that
- 21:22I've only heard about.
- 21:24>> We might have to go up there and check
- 21:25that out for one of the
- 21:26>> It's almost in Utah.
- 21:28>> No, it's not that far. It's just past
- 21:30downtown. It's not It's not like
- 21:31Speedway.
- 21:33>> It's just past Bonanza.
- 21:34>> When we lived in San Diego, we live 30
- 21:36minutes outside the city, which doesn't
- 21:37seem like that much.
- 21:39>> And every time I'm like, you know, ask
- 21:40someone to come visit, they're like,
- 21:41"You live way too far away. You live in
- 21:43Vegas." This is exactly how I failed out
- 21:44cuz like we we live in a spot in Vegas
- 21:46where we're 12 minutes from everything
- 21:47>> and if if I got to drive 14 minutes I'm
- 21:49like that is
- 21:50>> that is so far
- 21:50>> way too far.
- 21:52>> Not me. I'll drive across town for
- 21:54dinner. I love food. Come on. Let's go.
- 21:55>> I'll come over to your place,
- 21:56>> right? And then we'll drive
- 21:57>> park my car.
- 21:58>> Yeah. Yeah.
- 21:59>> And then you can drive.
- 22:00>> Sounds perfect.
- 22:00>> Okay.
- 22:01>> Nevada this is actually really really
- 22:03big news. This is this is important.
- 22:05Well, it is scary. But Nevada sign a
- 22:07tri-state water deal to help protect
- 22:09Lake Blake me. And so the centerpiece
- 22:12around this whole thing is getting
- 22:14>> SoCal to stop taking all of our freaking
- 22:17water. So it's been this constant
- 22:19struggle and it's way more than I can
- 22:21get into here. I've been kind of
- 22:22following this for for quite a while.
- 22:24But what ended up happening was when
- 22:26they built the dam and they assigned
- 22:28that this during the original tri-state
- 22:30water pack,
- 22:31>> they assigned the percentages and the
- 22:32amount of it was it wasn't really
- 22:34percentages. was assigned as a I forgot
- 22:36that there's like a term like acre feet
- 22:38or whatever the heck it is of water that
- 22:40they could take out of the dam per year.
- 22:42>> Well, it's actually adds up to be more
- 22:43than 100%. And now that the there isn't
- 22:47100% even a water
- 22:48>> who did that math
- 22:49>> is somebody that there wasn't even
- 22:50computers back then. This is back, you
- 22:51know, 120 years ago when they built the
- 22:53dam years ago
- 22:54>> scribbling on a sheet
- 22:56>> 100 years ago,
- 22:57>> right? So at any rate, it it's overs
- 23:00subscribed and California uh has
- 23:05>> deeded into land uh for agricultural
- 23:09purposes
- 23:10>> an amount of water. And so there just
- 23:12isn't there there you add up all the
- 23:14water that's being used for agriculture
- 23:15in California, for all the humans in
- 23:17California, for all the humans in
- 23:18Nevada, all the humans in in the in
- 23:20agricultural purposes also in Arizona,
- 23:22which is also crazy. In the middle of a
- 23:24desert, like I mean just dirt. Yeah,
- 23:26>> there's like fields of green.
- 23:28>> It's crazy.
- 23:28>> This water's all coming out of the
- 23:29Colorado, which comes out of Lake Me,
- 23:32>> which comes out of the Rockies.
- 23:34>> Which comes out of the Rockies, which is
- 23:34not getting any snow anymore.
- 23:37>> So, anyway, uh
- 23:39>> Vegas needs this water. We also need to
- 23:41produce the power which
- 23:43>> benefits the surrounding states as well
- 23:45cuz Vegas doesn't actually use that much
- 23:47of the power because when that was a
- 23:50sign back when the dam was first open
- 23:51Vegas had you know 10 50,000 whatever
- 23:55people I don't know exactly what it was
- 23:56back then but it was a very small town
- 23:58uh when lake when the lake was or when
- 24:00the dam was being built.
- 24:01>> Right. Right. Right. So,
- 24:04I don't know, guys. I mean, hopefully,
- 24:05you know, they need to figure it out.
- 24:07Dealization in San Diego
- 24:10>> indirectly takes the pressure off the
- 24:12dam because it just keeps on dropping.
- 24:15>> They need about 50 more plants
- 24:18>> for the desolinization that if if they
- 24:21don't do it's it's such a small
- 24:23percentage of water that they actually
- 24:25make and then they have to get rid of
- 24:27the salt. That's the other problem. It's
- 24:28it's and then that changes the oceans.
- 24:30It's It's a big revolving mess is what
- 24:32it is.
- 24:33>> No, it is definitely a big revolving
- 24:34mess.
- 24:34>> So, we'll keep an eye on that obviously
- 24:36>> and hopefully this makes it a revolving
- 24:38mess instead of a straight down mess
- 24:40because right now the lake is straight
- 24:41down.
- 24:41>> Yeah, we definitely need to figure that
- 24:43out.
- 24:43>> I am concerned legitimately at some
- 24:45point turn on the the tap and nothing
- 24:46comes out.
- 24:47>> We could always move to Florida, but
- 24:49then we but then we might be we might be
- 24:51uh sinking into the ocean over there.
- 24:54>> So, they have too much water. It's like
- 24:56the sea's rising, right? the hurricanes
- 24:58come and we don't have enough water.
- 25:00>> At any rate, uh, local news, guys, the
- 25:04Palms and the South Point,
- 25:06>> this is pretty cool.
- 25:06>> Have cracked the top 10 of the entire
- 25:09countries.
- 25:09>> Yeah.
- 25:10>> Luckiest casinos.
- 25:11>> And I worked at one of them.
- 25:12>> Yeah.
- 25:12>> Shout out South Point.
- 25:13>> South Point number three. We've heard
- 25:15for years that South Point's really
- 25:16good. We also know that
- 25:18>> uh Palms is incredibly good. Return to
- 25:20player. So luckiest basically means that
- 25:23they treat their players the best in
- 25:25terms of return to player and all that.
- 25:28>> I can't argue about the South Point
- 25:29because I it is it was a great place to
- 25:31work. Everyone I know that goes there
- 25:33and plays loves it. Um the restaurants,
- 25:36they love everything about it. It's got
- 25:37movie theaters, bowling alleys, uh bingo
- 25:39p. It's got everything. It's really
- 25:41really a great property. Um the only
- 25:44downfall I've ever heard about anyone
- 25:45say is that they felt it was too
- 25:47warehousy. Like this property
- 25:50>> has a bunch of angles and rooms and
- 25:52different
- 25:52>> walls that just split things up. South
- 25:55Point is like a massive corridor.
- 25:57>> Yeah.
- 25:58>> Uh and some people just don't like that.
- 25:59Some don't care for it.
- 26:00>> But you're paying for it.
- 26:02>> What's it matter? You're sitting at a
- 26:03slot machine anyway.
- 26:04>> What's it matter? I love it. I love
- 26:06South Point. I love the poker room and
- 26:07all the people out there that I used to
- 26:09work with.
- 26:10>> So, um I'm glad they cracked that.
- 26:12Number three. That's insane.
- 26:13>> Guess who's number one?
- 26:15>> Uh I didn't see.
- 26:16>> It's a It's a Hard Rock property. Is it
- 26:18Hard Rock Property?
- 26:19>> Yeah. Hard Rock Seminal in Tampa.
- 26:21>> I did not see that they were number one.
- 26:22>> Right down there. Yeah.
- 26:23>> Well, oh, okay. I didn't see that they
- 26:25were number one. We have We have not
- 26:27been there, myself and Mrs. DJ.
- 26:29>> But we're at a Hard Rock property right
- 26:31now. It's exciting new partnership for
- 26:33us. Hard Rock Atlantic City and Hard
- 26:35Rock uh sponsored us to fly out here and
- 26:38do a bunch of content for them. And
- 26:39we're hoping that this is a start of
- 26:41something new and big for us. We're
- 26:42going to be hopefully going to Florida
- 26:45uh towards the end of this year. Uh
- 26:46maybe we can squeeze Tampa. We could fly
- 26:48in Tampa and then drive over to
- 26:50>> be awesome. See how lucky it really
- 26:53>> Tampa. Reach out. Let's go.
- 26:54>> Yeah. Anyway, that's going to wrap it up
- 26:56for this week, guys. We really
- 26:57appreciate you hanging out, supporting
- 26:58the Desert DJs and our podcast. Don't
- 27:00forget to hit like and subscribe on that
- 27:02and tell a friend about the podcast.
- 27:03Even if they aren't in the playing slots
- 27:05and watch our antics over there,
- 27:07subscribing and watching the podcast
- 27:08helps us out a ton as well. So,
- 27:10>> yeah. Give as much information as we
- 27:12can.
- 27:12>> We're going to go uh film a video now
- 27:14about Hard Rock B. Super breaking cold.
- 27:16>> Let's do it.
- 27:16>> All right, guys.
