- 0:00Speaker 1: And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:07Speaker 2: What's up everybody? Welcome to move the stacks, DJ, Bucky
- 0:10Speaker 2: Rhett with you. As we look back at a I
- 0:13Speaker 2: would say, interesting slate of week ten games. Buck, How
- 0:16Speaker 2: are you doing today?
- 0:16Speaker 1: Man? Man, I'm great, I am great. Just getting back
- 0:20Speaker 1: from Jacksonville. It was a fun field football festival on
- 0:24Speaker 1: Sunday watching them all to the vikings. So I can't
- 0:27Speaker 1: wait to comment all about it.
- 0:28Speaker 2: No, Indiana have forret today.
- 0:30Speaker 3: By the way, We're on a byeway next week, so
- 0:33Speaker 3: start on a bye week. So yeah, ten and zero.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Just feeling feeling good and we'll bring that. We'll bring
- 0:38Speaker 3: that back ahead of Ohio State week, don't you worry.
- 0:41Speaker 4: I will say this the if we you know, the
- 0:44Speaker 4: the late Windows slate needs to take a page out
- 0:47Speaker 4: of the Early Windows Slate's book. I mean, because well
- 0:50Speaker 4: it was kind of a snoozer there with those late
- 0:52Speaker 4: afternoon games, but the early window we had five of
- 0:55Speaker 4: seven games decided by one score and then six if
- 0:59Speaker 4: you go back to the ot thriller in Munich, right
- 1:03Speaker 4: with the Giants and Panthers and all of a sudden,
- 1:06Speaker 4: Bryce Young's a winner and back to back weeks like
- 1:08Speaker 4: let's go.
- 1:09Speaker 3: We've got a week here.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Boy.
- 1:10Speaker 2: By the way, great incentive for folks to stick around
- 1:13Speaker 2: for the end of the show because that'll be the
- 1:14Speaker 2: last game we talked about Giants Panthers. Let's start off
- 1:17Speaker 2: at the first game we're gonna get into, which is
- 1:19Speaker 2: Detroit Houston the Sunday Night or the Turnover Fest.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Buck.
- 1:23Speaker 2: I got a chance to the second half of this one.
- 1:25Speaker 2: I was actually called me when I was driving home
- 1:28Speaker 2: and we were talking about all the turnovers that were
- 1:30Speaker 2: taking place in this game. I mean, I think we
- 1:31Speaker 2: start there. It's a gritty, gutty win for the Lions.
- 1:35Speaker 2: But just your take on all the mishaps in this one.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, I'm glad that during my Misseason Awards I
- 1:42Speaker 1: didn't go too hard for Jered Goff being MVP because
- 1:45Speaker 1: the five interception turnover Fests just kind of crushed that.
- 1:48Speaker 1: The visual the optics of seeing him turn the ball
- 1:50Speaker 1: over time and time again certainly won't help him when
- 1:53Speaker 1: it comes to that, but I think what it does
- 1:55Speaker 1: for us is it allows us to see how good
- 1:58Speaker 1: the Lions are. You talk about interceptions from your franchise quarterback.
- 2:01Speaker 1: And even though one of those was a hail mary,
- 2:03Speaker 1: most teams can't overcome that. The fact that they were
- 2:06Speaker 1: able to do it and really do it in resounding
- 2:08Speaker 1: fashion in the second half. That only speaks about the
- 2:11Speaker 1: grit and the resiliency and all the toughness that we
- 2:13Speaker 1: talked about with the Lions, but their ability to bounce back,
- 2:16Speaker 1: find different ways on offense to create scoring opportunities, and
- 2:21Speaker 1: then their defense being able to step it, step up,
- 2:23Speaker 1: and step it up. Man, this team has all the
- 2:26Speaker 1: makings of being the best team in the league.
- 2:28Speaker 4: Yeah, and again, major credit to them for holding on, right,
- 2:32Speaker 4: for just holding on every time felt like you know
- 2:34Speaker 4: you might find something. Bang, another turnover happened, and look,
- 2:37Speaker 4: two of them were tips, right, and one was a
- 2:39Speaker 4: hail mary. But still seeing that number is shocking, right,
- 2:43Speaker 4: It's shocking to see a quarterback that had been the
- 2:46Speaker 4: most efficient quarterback in football all of a sudden start
- 2:49Speaker 4: turning it over that way. I mean, I think the
- 2:52Speaker 4: last one was probably the worst one that he was
- 2:54Speaker 4: trying to throw to Jamison Williams that ends up getting
- 2:56Speaker 4: caught way downfield.
- 2:58Speaker 3: But the thing that I'm I'm moost.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Curious about is is where this this Texans offense has gone.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Where the consistency has gone there? And I get it.
- 3:06Speaker 4: They've had receivers kind of shuffling in and out of
- 3:08Speaker 4: the lineup. Thought maybe Nico Collins was going to be
- 3:10Speaker 4: back this week. I couldn't quite get activated with the
- 3:13Speaker 4: hamstring injury. You know, Stephan Diggs now out for the year.
- 3:16Speaker 4: But I think the one thing that's kind of interesting
- 3:19Speaker 4: to me is just how much this Texans team needs
- 3:21Speaker 4: the run game to find success this year, which wasn't
- 3:25Speaker 4: necessarily the case. I mean, like they got a good
- 3:27Speaker 4: year at a Devin Singletary year ago. Man Joe Mixon
- 3:30Speaker 4: was bottled up in this game. Alee McNeil was fantastic
- 3:33Speaker 4: on the interior, he was in the backfield all day long,
- 3:36Speaker 4: but they couldn't get Joe Mixon going, and so then
- 3:38Speaker 4: it just felt like the whole thing was out of sync.
- 3:41Speaker 3: And CJ.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Straw was under pressure a bunch as he has been
- 3:43Speaker 4: this season. So they got to figure some things out
- 3:45Speaker 4: here on offense for the Houston Texans team.
- 3:49Speaker 2: This one's for Rhett Buck because Rhett loves it when
- 3:52Speaker 2: I take lyrics of songs and adapt them to the NFL,
- 3:58Speaker 2: and I'm watching watch and the cutups from that, and
- 4:01Speaker 2: all I could think of was, Laremie missed and pass
- 4:05Speaker 2: pro today.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Oh yeah, J yeah, I gotcha.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Oh my god, I mean, thank you, thank you. I
- 4:14Speaker 2: just needed the curus left. You were in high school? Uh?
- 4:22Speaker 2: What happened to Laramie Tunsel? Right? This is your team
- 4:25Speaker 2: that you follow, You've got this is the family affair?
- 4:27Speaker 2: What the heck happened to him? He was one of
- 4:29Speaker 2: the best tackles in the NFL.
- 4:32Speaker 4: So he's definitely been nicked up this year. I don't
- 4:35Speaker 4: know how bad it's been. I don't know how much
- 4:37Speaker 4: of it is is a product of what we're seeing
- 4:39Speaker 4: out on the field right now. But when your best
- 4:41Speaker 4: guy is having struggles the way that that Tunsil is,
- 4:46Speaker 4: it certainly filters through. And they made some changes along
- 4:49Speaker 4: the offensive line, moved Juice Scrugs over the left guard.
- 4:52Speaker 3: And then it made a change at center there.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Too, So they've had trouble across the board, it's felt
- 4:58Speaker 4: like at different times throughout this season, along the offensive line.
- 5:02Speaker 4: But that is a that is a that is probably
- 5:05Speaker 4: the most alarming thing, is right when a player like
- 5:08Speaker 4: that is a big piece of the struggles a mirror
- 5:11Speaker 4: when CJ. Stroud can't just can't you know, can't count
- 5:14Speaker 4: on it, right, that's trouble.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not good. But again, Gutsy went I. I
- 5:19Speaker 2: was glad you guys mentioned the makeup of those interceptions
- 5:22Speaker 2: as someone who I'm quite certain still holds the San
- 5:24Speaker 2: Diego County record for interceptions in one ball game. Six.
- 5:28Speaker 2: By the way, if you're if you're counting at home,
- 5:30Speaker 2: how do you have five or six interception games? Here's
- 5:33Speaker 2: how you have them. You have them as I did,
- 5:34Speaker 2: which was like an interception on a Hailmary at the
- 5:37Speaker 2: end of the half, a fourth and fourth and goal
- 5:39Speaker 2: interception at the end of the game, a couple tips
- 5:42Speaker 2: like they start adding up when all that weird stuff
- 5:44Speaker 2: starts happening. It wasn't quite as bad when I watch
- 5:46Speaker 2: the golf cutups as I thought it might be, just
- 5:48Speaker 2: looking at the stat line. And then he made the
- 5:50Speaker 2: throws at the end of the game when they needed
- 5:51Speaker 2: so a big win for the Detroit Lions. Uh, let's
- 5:54Speaker 2: stay you know, I think about Detroit in the NFC,
- 5:56Speaker 2: A team that's that's not far behind them on their
- 5:59Speaker 2: heels is Philly, who's playing really good ball right now
- 6:02Speaker 2: against the Dallas Cowboys team that I don't know that
- 6:03Speaker 2: we need to spend enough time. I think we already
- 6:05Speaker 2: had a funeral for them. I don't really care to
- 6:08Speaker 2: even Yeah.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Some cowboys on there, misery loves company.
- 6:12Speaker 2: It's over, So we don't need to talk much on
- 6:15Speaker 2: that side of it. But I do want to talk
- 6:16Speaker 2: on the on the Philly side of it, and Buck,
- 6:19Speaker 2: I'll get over to you on this one. Hurts seven carries,
- 6:23Speaker 2: fifty six yards, two touchdowns.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:25Speaker 2: I just think this is like an underappreciated thing in
- 6:28Speaker 2: the NFL right now. Derrick Henry is the only runner
- 6:31Speaker 2: in the NFL with more touchdowns this year than Jalen Hurts.
- 6:34Speaker 2: He's got ten touchdowns. He's going to put up fifteen
- 6:37Speaker 2: rushing touchdowns every single year. And if we're gonna you know,
- 6:41Speaker 2: you go and look at him. There's third and two
- 6:42Speaker 2: scramble first down in this game. You know, I just
- 6:45Speaker 2: get the push push, you get a scramble with Lane
- 6:48Speaker 2: being able to clear some space for him and gets
- 6:50Speaker 2: a nice run. They run QB power in the red
- 6:52Speaker 2: zone like it is a major asset to have a
- 6:55Speaker 2: quarterback that you can do this with. It feels like
- 6:58Speaker 2: as a high school coach and when I wanted to
- 6:59Speaker 2: actually this buck they can kind of play a high
- 7:01Speaker 2: school brand of football with Jalen Hurts.
- 7:05Speaker 1: They absolutely can. And I give them credit because Kellen
- 7:08Speaker 1: Moore has I would say, evolved Jalen hurts game even
- 7:11Speaker 1: more when you think about when he first kind of
- 7:13Speaker 1: rose to prominence, it was really in the collegiate system.
- 7:16Speaker 1: They're running quarterback powers and counters and those things. We're
- 7:19Speaker 1: seeing less of that and more of the traditional pro
- 7:23Speaker 1: style offense with a smattering of Jalen Hurst's special plays
- 7:27Speaker 1: mixed in there. But this offense has so many weapons.
- 7:30Speaker 1: They have so much firepower. You think about Barkley, the
- 7:33Speaker 1: two wide receivers on the outside, AJ Brown and Devonte Smith.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Dallas gotta get to control of the middle offensive line.
- 7:39Speaker 1: They really can win in a variety of ways. And
- 7:41Speaker 1: I know we've kind of penciled in the Detroit Lions
- 7:44Speaker 1: as the class of the NFC, but as this team
- 7:47Speaker 1: is trending, by season's in, we might be talking about
- 7:50Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Eagles being the best team in the NFC
- 7:53Speaker 1: and the team that's most likely to challenge in the
- 7:56Speaker 1: Super Bowl because they have all the piece of theopozzals,
- 8:00Speaker 1: particularly on offense.
- 8:02Speaker 4: This is how they did it right, This is this
- 8:04Speaker 4: was their blueprint two years ago. Right, they were a
- 8:08Speaker 4: grinded out, I mean, not so grinding. They could still make,
- 8:11Speaker 4: you know, make their head in the pass game, but
- 8:13Speaker 4: like they were definitely you know, finding production on the
- 8:17Speaker 4: ground one hundred and eighty seven yards in this game.
- 8:19Speaker 3: You know, hert said fifty six of them, as you mentioned, DJ,
- 8:21Speaker 3: but Saquon.
- 8:21Speaker 4: Barkley still does his part with sixty six and I
- 8:24Speaker 4: just feel like that gives them so much more.
- 8:27Speaker 3: A wider pathway right to victory.
- 8:30Speaker 4: And it just feels like it with these Nick Sirianni
- 8:32Speaker 4: teams when they found success early in his tenure there
- 8:34Speaker 4: in Philly, they were a force to be reckoned with
- 8:37Speaker 4: on the ground. Saquon Barkley has brought that back. And
- 8:40Speaker 4: then Jalen Hurts with that piece. I mean, the fact
- 8:43Speaker 4: that he's got ten touchdowns this year to count on,
- 8:46Speaker 4: you know, sixty points from your quarterback on the ground
- 8:49Speaker 4: over the course of the first ten games is a
- 8:50Speaker 4: pretty good deal right there. And obviously still a lot
- 8:53Speaker 4: left to go here, So that piece of it I
- 8:55Speaker 4: think is big. I think on the flip side, you know,
- 8:58Speaker 4: also coming back to you on this DJ with the Cowboys,
- 9:02Speaker 4: you know, Michael Parsons, you know you had the Ceedee
- 9:05Speaker 4: Lambs Sunshine issue with the windows. You had Michael Parsons
- 9:08Speaker 4: kind of saying, you know, I played for Zach Martin,
- 9:10Speaker 4: not necessarily for Mike McCarthy. I know, we're not gonna
- 9:12Speaker 4: spend a lot of time on the Cowboys.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Man.
- 9:14Speaker 4: It is like everywhere you look, there's a problem, quarterback, problem,
- 9:21Speaker 4: head coach, problem, star players, you know, with comments that way.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Yeah, problem, Yeah. I don't know how you come back
- 9:29Speaker 3: from that.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Well.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I was just brought back to a conversation I had
- 9:34Speaker 2: just kind of milling around the team out there at
- 9:36Speaker 2: training camp and talking to some folks, you know, some
- 9:41Speaker 2: inside the organization and others just that are dialed in
- 9:45Speaker 2: with the team out of training camp, and a theme
- 9:48Speaker 2: kind of emerged because if you remember, at that time,
- 9:50Speaker 2: we have no Dak Prescott deal, Ceedee Lamb's not there,
- 9:53Speaker 2: and then there's the Mica contract that's kind of looming,
- 9:57Speaker 2: and it came up in conversation with everyone. It was
- 10:00Speaker 2: pretty consistent they'll get Dack done. That'll happen. They're not
- 10:04Speaker 2: going to let Dak leave. He'll get that done. Ceedee lamb.
- 10:07Speaker 2: That's that's just a matter of time. They'll figure that out.
- 10:09Speaker 2: And Micah Parsons I got a lot of that's interesting.
- 10:13Speaker 2: I will see. We'll see on that one, you know.
- 10:16Speaker 2: And I was just kind of like, I mean, this
- 10:17Speaker 2: is a darn good player, but I don't know, you know,
- 10:22Speaker 2: it's it's it's getting to the point now where where
- 10:25Speaker 2: this team is this year, they have to make the
- 10:27Speaker 2: decision and and Buck, you can put a bow on
- 10:29Speaker 2: this for us, and I think that we would all
- 10:32Speaker 2: agree it's probably going to be it for Mike McCarthy
- 10:34Speaker 2: after this year's over. That's why I don't really want
- 10:36Speaker 2: to spend much time on what you know, players and
- 10:38Speaker 2: Mike or wherever. Think of Mike McCarthy. I think that's over.
- 10:41Speaker 2: But what is going to be the next step for
- 10:43Speaker 2: them is what's the real Cowboys? Is it the team
- 10:47Speaker 2: that's that's had these twelve win seasons or did they
- 10:50Speaker 2: fall off the cliff? And this is where they are
- 10:52Speaker 2: in reality right now? This team, So are we going
- 10:56Speaker 2: to sell off some assets and maybe try and go
- 10:58Speaker 2: to the bottom to get back up to the time.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Are we just are we going to be arrogant and
- 11:02Speaker 2: say we're the Dallas Cowboys. We don't ever do that,
- 11:04Speaker 2: and we're just gonna pretend everything's fine. We get right
- 11:07Speaker 2: back up to being a double digit winning team next
- 11:09Speaker 2: year with a different coach. I mean, that's the decision
- 11:11Speaker 2: they've got to make. Buck.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Yeah, the decision they have to make is not only
- 11:16Speaker 1: like personnel wise, I think before you even do that,
- 11:18Speaker 1: I think you got to figure out what is the
- 11:20Speaker 1: culture of this team. And I know that's the buzzword
- 11:22Speaker 1: that people get tired of. It is thrown out there.
- 11:24Speaker 1: But honestly, Michael Parsons gave exhibit A on bad culture
- 11:30Speaker 1: because some of those comments they should be internal. They
- 11:33Speaker 1: should never hit our ears when you're talking about what
- 11:36Speaker 1: you think about your coach, what you think about winning
- 11:39Speaker 1: for your teammates, and those things. Because what he did
- 11:42Speaker 1: is he basically just smudged all the things that Mike
- 11:46Speaker 1: McCarthy has accomplished throughout his career. In his time in Dallas.
- 11:49Speaker 1: You talked about three twelve wins seasons DJ last year.
- 11:53Speaker 1: We can go back and look, they probably overachieved to
- 11:55Speaker 1: get the twelve wins and we can talk about the
- 11:57Speaker 1: debacle that was the playoffs. I don't know how good
- 12:00Speaker 1: this team is, but for Micah Parsons, the big thing
- 12:03Speaker 1: is when the next coach or the next whoever's in
- 12:05Speaker 1: charge comes in, they gotta determine is the juice worth
- 12:10Speaker 1: the squeeze. He's a phenomenal player, but he's also, in
- 12:14Speaker 1: my mind, a distracted player when you think about the
- 12:16Speaker 1: podcast and all the other stuff that's kind of around him.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Everybody loves the personality. Everybody can respect outspokenness, but when
- 12:24Speaker 1: it comes at the expense of the team, it's problematic.
- 12:27Speaker 1: The Cowboys have to decide who they are and they
- 12:29Speaker 1: have to build it from inside out. When it comes
- 12:31Speaker 1: to the culture, then find the players that fit that.
- 12:34Speaker 1: We'll see if number eleven is a big fit. I
- 12:38Speaker 1: love the production. I just don't know if it's some
- 12:41Speaker 1: stuff you can build around.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna get to I'm gonna tease the conversation
- 12:46Speaker 2: we're gonna have coming up a little bit later on,
- 12:48Speaker 2: because I do. We're gonna look at one team that's
- 12:51Speaker 2: got a collective pass rush, and it got me thinking,
- 12:54Speaker 2: and it's an interesting conversation, talk about these elite, elite,
- 12:57Speaker 2: elite guys, these elite individual players. A lot of teams
- 13:00Speaker 2: in this league are winning with a collection of good
- 13:02Speaker 2: and not an individual great. I want to have that
- 13:05Speaker 2: conversation later, which you know, we'll kind of pick up
- 13:07Speaker 2: where we left off here. All right, let's flush this conversation.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Let's get to another game here with them, since and
- 13:13Speaker 2: the new coach.
- 13:14Speaker 1: I know where you're going.
- 13:16Speaker 2: I decide what we're talking about. I don't want to
- 13:18Speaker 2: talk about that. I had too. Twenty to seventeen the
- 13:23Speaker 2: Saints team that I had seen in person, that will
- 13:25Speaker 2: look terrible. I mean, I've seen some bad teams this
- 13:27Speaker 2: year in person, and I'm sure Bucky has as well.
- 13:30Speaker 2: But uh man, that's that's a good win for them
- 13:34Speaker 2: against the Atlanta Falcons twenty to seventeen. Derek Carr as
- 13:37Speaker 2: an efficient day, plays well, they get Darren Rizzio wins,
- 13:41Speaker 2: so good, good story for him, good for for that team,
- 13:44Speaker 2: that organization. After you know, kind of what's been a
- 13:47Speaker 2: tumultuous a few weeks here as they've been playing some
- 13:50Speaker 2: some rough ball RTT. I want to get to you
- 13:52Speaker 2: on the Saints side of things. But before we do that,
- 13:54Speaker 2: I'm gonna I'm gonna give you my first saucy now
- 13:57Speaker 2: a right, ready, we're ready for a saucy no, yeah yeah.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Atlanta Falcons, guys, what is the same conversation we have
- 14:02Speaker 2: with this team every single spring we do draft shows together.
- 14:06Speaker 2: We've been doing them together for us forever. We have
- 14:09Speaker 2: passh okay, okas, I'm just curious, curious and this one
- 14:12Speaker 2: buck They had zero sacks in this game. Oh okay, interesting,
- 14:15Speaker 2: how are you out this year? Nine? Oh, they've got
- 14:17Speaker 2: nine sacks and we're in week ten of the season.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Grady Jarrett Rhett is leading them with two and a
- 14:22Speaker 2: half sacks. Matt Judon has one and a half. It
- 14:24Speaker 2: is amazing to me. This might be the I don't
- 14:28Speaker 2: know if a team that's had a specific issue non
- 14:30Speaker 2: quarterback related, that they have been unable to solve, like
- 14:33Speaker 2: the Atlanta Falcons in this past rush. It is bizarre
- 14:36Speaker 2: to me that they can't figure that out.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Rhet that's right. What was it two years ago?
- 14:41Speaker 4: Went and got Arnold Wakatie out of Penn State in
- 14:44Speaker 4: the second round. Man, you gotta go back to Vic Beasley.
- 14:47Speaker 4: You know who has a one year wonder out of
- 14:49Speaker 4: Clenson as a first round pick. Was that almost ten
- 14:52Speaker 4: years ago now, and it's been a problem ever since.
- 14:56Speaker 4: And I mean, look, give the credit for going trying
- 14:58Speaker 4: to go get met Judon and make happened. I mean,
- 15:00Speaker 4: they clearly understand the problem. But there needs to be
- 15:03Speaker 4: a you know, a bigger fixed there, right. I mean
- 15:06Speaker 4: I think you know, you could obviously look at this
- 15:08Speaker 4: year's draft and say, yeah, sure Jared Verse would have helped,
- 15:11Speaker 4: or sure Dallas Turner might have helped, or maybe lay
- 15:13Speaker 4: out to a lot too, but you know, on yeah,
- 15:17Speaker 4: but keep.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Moving on on that one.
- 15:20Speaker 4: But they decided to go, you know, for the future
- 15:22Speaker 4: a quarterback, and certainly understand that that line.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Of thinking as well.
- 15:26Speaker 4: But for the present day Atlanta Falcons, pass rush is
- 15:30Speaker 4: vital to them staying in the tournament, getting into the
- 15:34Speaker 4: tournament and staying there and having a run Like it's
- 15:36Speaker 4: just not gonna have it. If you can allow you know,
- 15:38Speaker 4: Derek Carr to sit back there and find Mark Weisvaldez
- 15:40Speaker 4: canting twice for touchdowns relatively unfettered, that that's just I
- 15:45Speaker 4: don't know, I mean, you can't find it now, right,
- 15:47Speaker 4: I mean we're gonna have to be talking about this
- 15:48Speaker 4: again this spring.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it's one thing that we can count on. Like
- 15:53Speaker 1: the first in the fifteenth we go ahead to talk
- 15:55Speaker 1: about that Falcons searching for a pass rush because this
- 15:59Speaker 1: is what they're able to do, and it really doesn't
- 16:02Speaker 1: matter how they try and fix it, reagency, the draft, trade,
- 16:06Speaker 1: whatever it is, they haven't been able to get it done.
- 16:09Speaker 1: But man, it's the most important part. When we talk
- 16:12Speaker 1: about team building, we talk about quarterback, do we talk
- 16:14Speaker 1: about pass rush, and you got to be able to
- 16:16Speaker 1: throw it. You got to be able to close games out.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Their inability to close games out with the pass rush
- 16:21Speaker 1: has kept them from achieving what many would say is
- 16:24Speaker 1: like a high sealing potential. I don't know where they
- 16:27Speaker 1: go because Matt Juni can do so much, but nine
- 16:30Speaker 1: sacks ten games that that's not good enough to get
- 16:34Speaker 1: it done. And it'll never be good enough to get
- 16:36Speaker 1: it done if you can't get back again.
- 16:38Speaker 4: We You know, it's interesting too when you look at
- 16:39Speaker 4: that because they also drafted Zach Harrison right out of
- 16:42Speaker 4: Ohio State, who was a very highly recruited kid up
- 16:46Speaker 4: at Ohio State. Never quite lived up to the billing
- 16:49Speaker 4: as one of like the next edge rusher, Bucky. You
- 16:51Speaker 4: talk about this a lot like sack production in college
- 16:54Speaker 4: generally translates. Well, when you don't have sack production in college,
- 16:59Speaker 4: you wonder does that also then translate. I mean, because
- 17:02Speaker 4: I don't know that we've seen it there from that
- 17:04Speaker 4: side either. That That's just one of those things to
- 17:08Speaker 4: think about when we continue to evaluate players going into
- 17:10Speaker 4: the draft this year.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's I mean, death tax is in
- 17:14Speaker 2: a spring talking about the Atlanta Falcons looking for a.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Draft though it makes it easy.
- 17:25Speaker 2: They're not going to take one. They're not going to
- 17:27Speaker 2: take one, but put one in there and look at comments.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Look at the comments in that mock draft aren't either
- 17:33Speaker 2: like they're not taking it. They'll never they won't do anyways. Anyways,
- 17:36Speaker 2: we're getting I just need to get the first one.
- 17:39Speaker 2: The spring is the spring is a little bit off.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Let's not get too carried away, all right, We've got
- 17:43Speaker 2: plenty more to get to here. Let's be patient, let's
- 17:45Speaker 2: pace ourselves. And that seems to be the theme for
- 17:52Speaker 2: the Kansas City Chiefs. I don't know how, I just
- 17:56Speaker 2: they find a way, They find a way to make
- 17:58Speaker 2: a play the other team finds a way to not
- 17:59Speaker 2: make play, but it is. It's pretty remarkable the way
- 18:03Speaker 2: they were able to get to the finish line in
- 18:04Speaker 2: this game sixteen to fourteen, A game that almost felt like,
- 18:08Speaker 2: you know, keeping an eye on it. I was at
- 18:10Speaker 2: the Charger game, put an eye on that game. I
- 18:14Speaker 2: felt like, gosh, it looks like the whole game was
- 18:15Speaker 2: being played on the chief side of the field. Like
- 18:17Speaker 2: the Broncos were kind of dominating the game, but you
- 18:20Speaker 2: got to kick to win it, and they can't protect,
- 18:24Speaker 2: and the Chiefs make a play block to kick and
- 18:25Speaker 2: they go on to win the football game. But Buck,
- 18:29Speaker 2: I don't know. I guess the simplest way is winners win,
- 18:31Speaker 2: losers lose. I mean, that's I don't know how else
- 18:33Speaker 2: to describe that one.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Look at you sounded like fifty I love it. Yeah.
- 18:40Speaker 1: It Ultimately, winners do find ways to win. And the
- 18:44Speaker 1: Cansita Chiefs have been in voted by the fact that
- 18:46Speaker 1: they've gone back to back, they've won three out of four.
- 18:49Speaker 1: They know that if they play to the end, typically
- 18:52Speaker 1: the other team implows and to me is very reminiscent
- 18:55Speaker 1: of the pages and how the Patriots dominated for twenty years.
- 18:58Speaker 1: It wasn't so much today made these exceptional plays is
- 19:02Speaker 1: they were able to be consistent, and their consistent performance
- 19:05Speaker 1: eventually translates to success. Great play at the end, though,
- 19:09Speaker 1: I mean when you look at this play and the
- 19:10Speaker 1: way it was broken down and how they created a
- 19:13Speaker 1: two on one opportunity on the end, not the wing,
- 19:16Speaker 1: but to go through there. It's the execution of things
- 19:20Speaker 1: that they've probably been working on since training camp, but
- 19:23Speaker 1: just doing them when it mattered the most. Just great resiliency,
- 19:27Speaker 1: great belief, great confidence. And here's the crazy thing, the
- 19:31Speaker 1: more that they pulled this off, the more that the
- 19:34Speaker 1: rest of the team is looking over their shoulder at
- 19:36Speaker 1: the end of the games waiting for them to make
- 19:39Speaker 1: a play. There's something mystical and magical about what the
- 19:43Speaker 1: Kansas City Chiefs are doing, and other teams only feed
- 19:45Speaker 1: into it because they can't believe that this team is
- 19:48Speaker 1: always right there.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Yeah, and you know, finding ways to win I think
- 19:52Speaker 4: is obviously the key phrase here for the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 19:55Speaker 4: I mean, they're down right, they're down fourteen to three
- 19:59Speaker 4: in the second quarter, are going into the half, or rather,
- 20:02Speaker 4: you know, as they come out of the second quarter there,
- 20:06Speaker 4: and so like when you look at it, you look
- 20:09Speaker 4: at the way in which they're finding, you know, ways
- 20:12Speaker 4: to win it. Yes, Patrick Mahomes connected with Travis Kelce
- 20:15Speaker 4: seventy six touchdown ties Tony Gonzalez most all time franchise distrue,
- 20:19Speaker 4: but then missed, you know, on a chance to go
- 20:21Speaker 4: up by a touchdown at the end of the game,
- 20:23Speaker 4: in which allowed the Broncos the opportunity to come down
- 20:26Speaker 4: and kickwoo would have been a game winning field goal.
- 20:28Speaker 3: But again, like they held the Broncos scoreless.
- 20:31Speaker 4: In the second half, this team just plays complimentary football
- 20:34Speaker 4: and like we talk about that a lot offense. Defense,
- 20:36Speaker 4: you throw special teams in there when you're blocking kicks
- 20:39Speaker 4: that way, man, especially chip shots.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Like that thirty five yarders glorified extra point.
- 20:44Speaker 4: So I just think, you know, yeah, you do understand
- 20:47Speaker 4: what it takes to win football games. This team knows
- 20:50Speaker 4: that better than anybody, and they keep showing up and
- 20:54Speaker 4: showing you know that there are numerous ways that they
- 20:56Speaker 4: can do it, and credit to them, and you know
- 21:00Speaker 4: they'll keep it rolling, you know, until somebody could find
- 21:03Speaker 4: a way.
- 21:03Speaker 3: But right now, man, the Chiefs team is pretty dam impressive.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Now We've made those comps with the early Patriots Super
- 21:09Speaker 2: Bowl teams with this version of the Chiefs like a bunch.
- 21:13Speaker 2: So you have twenty eight completions for Mahomes in this game,
- 21:15Speaker 2: twenty to running backs and tight ends, twenty at the
- 21:18Speaker 2: twenty eight the tight ends and running backs like it
- 21:20Speaker 2: is a check down fest. It is a you know
- 21:23Speaker 2: play it for you know field position, and it is
- 21:27Speaker 2: bizarre how this team is doing it. I mean, I
- 21:30Speaker 2: give Andy Reid all the credit in the world. He's
- 21:32Speaker 2: not chasing stats, he's chasing wins, and they're figuring out
- 21:36Speaker 2: a formula to get it done. I do want to
- 21:38Speaker 2: give bo Nick some love on the other side of it.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Went through and watched him this morning and on the
- 21:43Speaker 2: heels and we'll get to the Chicago mess in a
- 21:45Speaker 2: little bit. But you know, watching that back to back
- 21:48Speaker 2: with with Caleb Williams, there's a confidence in trusting what
- 21:53Speaker 2: he's seeing with Bonix, and I think he's in a
- 21:55Speaker 2: good place With Sean Payton, He's attacking when he can attack.
- 21:59Speaker 2: There's his feeder in the ground. He doesn't look as
- 22:01Speaker 2: jittery as when I saw him in person a month ago.
- 22:05Speaker 2: He's getting more confident and more comfortable, and the ball's
- 22:07Speaker 2: coming out well and he's making plays, so I'd be encouraged.
- 22:11Speaker 2: I know they're five and five and disappointed they didn't
- 22:13Speaker 2: get that kick to win this game, But on a
- 22:16Speaker 2: big picture scale, I think you're seeing Bonnix just get
- 22:19Speaker 2: better and better, which is a great sign for Denver
- 22:21Speaker 2: and it's a great sign for their future. So some
- 22:23Speaker 2: good news there for the Denver Broncos. Let's keep going
- 22:27Speaker 2: through the AFC. If we're going to have the Chiefs
- 22:29Speaker 2: is the favorite right now, I think Buffalo's right behind them. Guys.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Buffalo gets a win over Indy Buckets thirty to twenty.
- 22:37Speaker 2: It's the best start to season since nineteen ninety three.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Were you on that team? You weren't on that team,
- 22:42Speaker 2: buck What year were you there?
- 22:44Speaker 1: It was you before he got the ninety four four.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Yes, I knew I was right around your time. I
- 22:49Speaker 2: know that I was right around your time. But this
- 22:51Speaker 2: is where I want to have this discussion. We can
- 22:52Speaker 2: get into this game if you want to, but I
- 22:54Speaker 2: thought this was a more fascinating discussion. I was going
- 22:56Speaker 2: through and watching all their pressures this morning. Von Miller
- 22:59Speaker 2: is doing his thing you've got Oliver on the inside.
- 23:02Speaker 2: He's getting pressure. Greg Orusso is playing his butt off.
- 23:04Speaker 2: I mean, I think he's got maybe five and a
- 23:06Speaker 2: half sacks or some of his pressure reel every week.
- 23:09Speaker 2: He's just getting all kinds of pressure. Epanessa has been
- 23:12Speaker 2: really good. Da Kwan Jones was getting some pressure inside.
- 23:16Speaker 2: And that's where what I was alluding to earlier, Buck,
- 23:18Speaker 2: which is, you know, I see Max Crosby's unbelievable, but
- 23:21Speaker 2: their team's not very good right now. Miles Garrett is
- 23:24Speaker 2: a freak. Their team's not very good right now. But
- 23:26Speaker 2: when I look at teams like Kansas City and not,
- 23:28Speaker 2: Chris Jones is great, but that is a still they
- 23:30Speaker 2: all kind of do their part in that front with
- 23:33Speaker 2: those guys you think about here with the Buffalo Bills,
- 23:35Speaker 2: all those names that I just mentioned Detroit now, especially
- 23:38Speaker 2: without Aiden Hutchinson there, that's going to be a collective
- 23:42Speaker 2: group effort. You can look around at a lot of
- 23:44Speaker 2: these top teams. The Philadelphia Eagles have just a bunch
- 23:47Speaker 2: of different guys that can kind of win inside and outside.
- 23:50Speaker 2: There's no like central focal point is what I'm getting at,
- 23:53Speaker 2: And I just wonder if it's like we used to
- 23:55Speaker 2: say with the offensive line, you're as strong as your
- 23:57Speaker 2: weakest link. You'd rather have five goods than you know,
- 24:00Speaker 2: one great, a couple of averages in a bad I
- 24:02Speaker 2: think we could almost almost have that same conversation on
- 24:05Speaker 2: the defensive front right now.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Yeah, So it sounds like you would rather have a
- 24:10Speaker 1: bunch of b's and B pluses than one A or
- 24:13Speaker 1: A plus on that front line. And what the Buffalo
- 24:16Speaker 1: Bills are doing is they are wearing you down in waves.
- 24:19Speaker 1: And it's funny because it's not only them you talked
- 24:22Speaker 1: about some of the other teams. I think it was
- 24:24Speaker 1: also probably some of the motivation for the Pittsburgh still
- 24:26Speaker 1: is to go and get Preston Smith to complete a
- 24:29Speaker 1: rotation that they had. I mean, and that's not like
- 24:32Speaker 1: that like TJ.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Watt's unbelievable, But that's Cam Hayward, that's TJ. Watt, that's
- 24:36Speaker 2: high Smith. Now you throw it like yeah, like these
- 24:38Speaker 2: teams that are good have more than one guy that
- 24:40Speaker 2: can do it.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Yeah, so they have more than one pitch of the thing.
- 24:44Speaker 1: And so the Buffalo Bills are interesting because I think
- 24:47Speaker 1: they've leaned all the way into the blue collar mentality
- 24:50Speaker 1: of the city. This is a blue collar team. Sean
- 24:52Speaker 1: McDermott back against the wall, people were talking about, hey, man,
- 24:55Speaker 1: if they don't get this done, like, hey, how much
- 24:57Speaker 1: longer on this McDermott thing. And I think they've just
- 24:59Speaker 1: put the nose to the grindstone, found a way to
- 25:03Speaker 1: just outwork and wear people down. And here you are
- 25:05Speaker 1: talking about the Buffalo Bills, putting them their best record
- 25:08Speaker 1: since ninety three. Nobody had this on the BEINGO card
- 25:12Speaker 1: that the Bills would be this good. But pass off
- 25:14Speaker 1: to them, and you're right, this black Commedy situation with
- 25:18Speaker 1: their pass rush has certainly helped him become one the
- 25:21Speaker 1: dominant teams in the AFC.
- 25:24Speaker 3: And then just taking a quick look at what the
- 25:25Speaker 3: Colts are doing.
- 25:27Speaker 4: You know, the Texans keep are keeping the teams in
- 25:30Speaker 4: it right there, and the keeping the Colts in it
- 25:31Speaker 4: in the AFC South. You know, the Colts are sitting
- 25:33Speaker 4: there four and six, they're only two games back. But
- 25:36Speaker 4: at what point are you going to look at this
- 25:38Speaker 4: thing and say, Okay, you know, Joe Flacco is not
- 25:43Speaker 4: giving us what we thought he was going to give us,
- 25:45Speaker 4: and how long can we stick with that? And now
- 25:47Speaker 4: we're YoY going back and forth quarterbacks here and in
- 25:51Speaker 4: a way in which we have a chance to be
- 25:53Speaker 4: competitive and find ourselves in a playoff spot.
- 25:55Speaker 3: But we're kind of going back and forth on the quarterback.
- 25:58Speaker 4: Look there, there's team commit at least until Shane Stiken
- 26:01Speaker 4: says so that Joe Flacco is going to be the quarterback.
- 26:04Speaker 4: I mean, are you confident that they can get it
- 26:06Speaker 4: turned around? You know, helping Michael Pittman's back out there.
- 26:10Speaker 4: You know they can get some guys healthy there too.
- 26:11Speaker 4: But man, you can't keep turning and over and expect
- 26:14Speaker 4: to stay competitive as you go down the stretch here.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I haven't they been swept by Houston?
- 26:20Speaker 1: And I make that up.
- 26:23Speaker 2: The Colts. Have they played them twice already or just
- 26:25Speaker 2: once already? Yeah, they were, they were swept. They got
- 26:28Speaker 2: swept by them. So that's a three game lead, So
- 26:30Speaker 2: it's they still got a long way to a long
- 26:32Speaker 2: way to guns with that. To put it to kind
- 26:34Speaker 2: of put a bow though, I'll give you a little
- 26:36Speaker 2: saucy nug to wrap up a buffalo INDI here we
- 26:39Speaker 2: talked about earlier. The Falcons have nine sacks this season.
- 26:43Speaker 2: The Bills have twelve players with at least a sack.
- 26:46Speaker 2: I mean, that's that's uh, that's pretty nuts. They are
- 26:49Speaker 2: getting home with a lot of different players, so they're
- 26:52Speaker 2: doing a great job as a collective pass. Rush Buck.
- 26:55Speaker 2: You you mentioned there with Pittsburgh Washington, uh, talking about
- 26:59Speaker 2: the Steelers things, Rhett, is there anything you would add
- 27:02Speaker 2: on this game that, you know, look, the Steelers end
- 27:05Speaker 2: up getting a twenty eight twenty seven win, anything else
- 27:10Speaker 2: besides obviously what we're talking about.
- 27:12Speaker 4: Right, Tomlin cooking, like Tomlin cooking, I mean, like just
- 27:15Speaker 4: you know, obviously the decision to put Russell Wilson in
- 27:19Speaker 4: while your team was winning, you know, obviously still looms large.
- 27:22Speaker 4: He's undefeated as a starting quarterback. The one thing that
- 27:25Speaker 4: we talked about here on the move the sticks pod,
- 27:27Speaker 4: right was you know, the moon ball from Russell to
- 27:30Speaker 4: Mike Williams. And sure enough his first catches a Steelers
- 27:32Speaker 4: exactly in Morner in.
- 27:34Speaker 3: A big in a big spot for Pittsburgh. I mean,
- 27:36Speaker 3: take your victory lap on that one. But there it is.
- 27:38Speaker 4: Bang, you know, got that done. And then you know,
- 27:42Speaker 4: like I loved his response to to all right, were
- 27:45Speaker 4: you really going to go for it on fourth? And
- 27:46Speaker 4: one at the end of the game. I guess we'll
- 27:48Speaker 4: never know.
- 27:49Speaker 2: But I don't know.
- 27:50Speaker 4: I mean, that was you know, that was a you know,
- 27:53Speaker 4: a head coach saying, hey, let's give it a shot. Man,
- 27:55Speaker 4: let's just go try to draw them off sides. If
- 27:57Speaker 4: it doesn't work, fine, we'll punt it away whatever. But
- 28:00Speaker 4: then it does work. And Neil vegga genius and poor
- 28:03Speaker 4: rookie Jerson Newton, you know, that's a tough one. That's
- 28:07Speaker 4: a tough spot. He knew right away, obviously everybody did.
- 28:10Speaker 4: They're all laughing the Steelers like.
- 28:12Speaker 1: We got it.
- 28:14Speaker 3: I think they might have gone for it. I don't know.
- 28:16Speaker 4: I just this Steelers team feels like, you know, they're
- 28:20Speaker 4: they're almost like they're a little bit less explosive, but
- 28:23Speaker 4: they're kind of like the AFC version of the Lions.
- 28:26Speaker 4: You know, They've got some of that grit to it,
- 28:28Speaker 4: some of that toughness. They find ways to win there
- 28:31Speaker 4: and they're getting it done. So credit to Mike Tomlin.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Yeah, credit to Mike Tomlin. But let's credit him for
- 28:37Speaker 1: the quarterback decision that all of us were like, man,
- 28:40Speaker 1: why change it was such a good thing. Going with
- 28:43Speaker 1: Justin Fields but Russell Wilson has already and I saw
- 28:46Speaker 1: this like I mean, it won't be a saucy nug,
- 28:48Speaker 1: but I put it out there. They're already saying that
- 28:50Speaker 1: Russell Wilson has more touchdown passes than any quarterback it
- 28:54Speaker 1: has been Roethlisberger retired in three games, he has more
- 28:58Speaker 1: than every other quarterback that is played a position. But
- 29:00Speaker 1: the stillers is big Ben retired. That's bananas in three
- 29:04Speaker 1: games that he's already done that. And when you look
- 29:07Speaker 1: at the Stellers offense with him at quarterback, the deep
- 29:10Speaker 1: ball has come back. I see a happier George Pickens,
- 29:13Speaker 1: I see Mike Williams making dramatic catches, and it's opened
- 29:17Speaker 1: up this offense in a way that it wasn't wide
- 29:19Speaker 1: open with Justin Fields. Credit to Mike Tomlin for being
- 29:23Speaker 1: a coach who was not afraid to step into I
- 29:25Speaker 1: would say a controversial decision, but it appears that has
- 29:29Speaker 1: made his team a team that went from being a
- 29:31Speaker 1: playoff contender. Maybe they're able to push and go a
- 29:34Speaker 1: little deeper into postseason because they got a quarterback they
- 29:36Speaker 1: can close games out in the fourth quarter.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Somebody that has that has more time can go through
- 29:42Speaker 2: this whole thing. But it would be fun to compare
- 29:46Speaker 2: this iteration of the Steelers to the old one, because
- 29:49Speaker 2: I'm already thinking, off the top of my head, you've
- 29:51Speaker 2: got big Ben, little Russ, so we can start right there.
- 29:55Speaker 2: You can also that come with You've got you've got
- 29:58Speaker 2: angry Harrison, happy Watt. Like there's there's a there's like
- 30:01Speaker 2: a lot of guys at these same positions that might
- 30:04Speaker 2: come in different shape, sizes, personalities, but they're all like
- 30:08Speaker 2: the DNA is still the same. It was what we
- 30:11Speaker 2: said about was what we said about with Russ when
- 30:14Speaker 2: he went to Pittsburgh, was like, yeah, this is this
- 30:16Speaker 2: is when they're good. It's it's it's a defense, it's
- 30:19Speaker 2: controlling the game and then when Ben needs to make
- 30:21Speaker 2: two or three Ben plays, he makes those plays, but
- 30:23Speaker 2: win the game. This is what's exactly what Russ is doing.
- 30:25Speaker 2: It's the exact same formula for those great Steeler teams.
- 30:29Speaker 2: And I don't think anybody I mean, I know people
- 30:31Speaker 2: have talked about the quarterback thing, but I just feel
- 30:33Speaker 2: like we're talking about Super Bowl contenders and who are
- 30:35Speaker 2: the top teams? Like I don't even think people even
- 30:38Speaker 2: mention this team, and I know when I've saw him,
- 30:40Speaker 2: I saw him up close in seeing them in person
- 30:43Speaker 2: this year. I buck have the Jags played the Steelers
- 30:45Speaker 2: this year?
- 30:47Speaker 1: Uh No, thank good? Okay.
- 30:49Speaker 2: I mean, I'm just telling you when you go out
- 30:50Speaker 2: there and then you look onto the field and you
- 30:52Speaker 2: see high Smith, and then you see T. J. Watt,
- 30:55Speaker 2: and then you see Cam Hayward and then they've got
- 30:56Speaker 2: her big like they're they're a count of bent. Was
- 31:00Speaker 2: their nightmare to block man?
- 31:01Speaker 1: Like?
- 31:02Speaker 2: They are really good up front.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Yeah. I think the thing about the still is they
- 31:06Speaker 1: know who they are now, and I think and knowing
- 31:09Speaker 1: who they are, they understand how to play to their identity.
- 31:11Speaker 1: And it's that pretty. It's not sexy, it doesn't get
- 31:15Speaker 1: a lot of clicks, but it's one of the ways
- 31:17Speaker 1: that they are able to consistently win. They play to
- 31:20Speaker 1: their strengths and they don't worry about what it looks
- 31:22Speaker 1: like on the outside.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Yeah. No, it's one hundred percent of who they are.
- 31:27Speaker 2: All right, Let's let's swing back over to the NFC
- 31:30Speaker 2: San Francisco Tampa Bay A good game, right was referencing
- 31:32Speaker 2: all these good games earlier in that early early window
- 31:36Speaker 2: here twenty three to twenty the Niners end up getting
- 31:38Speaker 2: a win. Now, look, I think you can find a
- 31:41Speaker 2: lot to be encouraged about both sides of this thing.
- 31:44Speaker 2: But I would think we buck don't. We have to
- 31:45Speaker 2: give brock Purty some love first and foremost with the
- 31:49Speaker 2: way he played in this ball game.
- 31:52Speaker 1: Absolutely, you have to give him love because even though
- 31:54Speaker 1: you know the return of CMC is going to be celebrated,
- 31:57Speaker 1: and some other things that you talked about in the game,
- 32:00Speaker 1: rock Purdy being able to kind of shake off some
- 32:02Speaker 1: questionable performances of Lady to be able to play the
- 32:04Speaker 1: way that he played. You talk about this guy being
- 32:07Speaker 1: able to do it because everyone always thinks it's the
- 32:09Speaker 1: supporting cast. It really makes him. But I think we
- 32:11Speaker 1: have to acknowledge that Brock Pardy has some special stuff
- 32:13Speaker 1: that worked within this offense, and when he plays the
- 32:17Speaker 1: way that he played, this team can hang with anybody. Now,
- 32:20Speaker 1: they got to fix the kicking situation because they can't
- 32:23Speaker 1: keep missing multiple field goals and think that they're gonna
- 32:25Speaker 1: win games. We also don't wanted to keep missing so
- 32:28Speaker 1: Debo isn't throat playing long snapper. But if they can
- 32:33Speaker 1: get that part together, the San Francisco forty nine and
- 32:36Speaker 1: certainly our formidable foe if you have to face him
- 32:38Speaker 1: in the early rounds of the playoffs.
- 32:40Speaker 4: I think that throw is my favorite that we just
- 32:42Speaker 4: saw down to Christian McCaffrey on the right sideline. There
- 32:45Speaker 4: was just kind of rusher in his face, a little
- 32:48Speaker 4: bit off balance. That's what those are, the kind of
- 32:52Speaker 4: throws that make you go with Brock Purdy like, Okay, yeah, no,
- 32:55Speaker 4: this is not just you know, wind him up in
- 32:57Speaker 4: this offense and let him go like he is he
- 33:00Speaker 4: is autonomous or you know, he not autonomous. He's able
- 33:03Speaker 4: to kind of make some of these decisions, make these throws,
- 33:06Speaker 4: these big.
- 33:06Speaker 3: Time plays on his own. He got to give him
- 33:08Speaker 3: credit for that.
- 33:08Speaker 4: But the kicking thing was interesting to me, right, you know,
- 33:11Speaker 4: none of these kicks were gimmis or not none of them,
- 33:14Speaker 4: but most of them were, you know, deeper kicks in
- 33:16Speaker 4: the forties fifty missed three of them. He was two
- 33:19Speaker 4: for five when they sent him back out for the
- 33:20Speaker 4: game winner, which was Jake Moody's.
- 33:23Speaker 3: Sixth field goal of the day.
- 33:25Speaker 4: And right before that, it was Debo there it is
- 33:29Speaker 4: gonna yelling, hey, what are we doing? Here, like let's
- 33:31Speaker 4: stop missing field goals and Taper Pepper the long snappers
- 33:35Speaker 4: like you get talking to us that way like we're
- 33:37Speaker 4: all due, we can here, we're trying to make it
- 33:40Speaker 4: and maybe inadvertently that ended up refocusing the specialist outfie.
- 33:47Speaker 3: Look at Debot take it two for one right there.
- 33:49Speaker 4: Moody kind of caught the shrapnel off Pepper Pepper's chin,
- 33:53Speaker 4: but you look it ended o moregon.
- 33:54Speaker 3: I think they're no worse for the wear with it.
- 33:56Speaker 4: And as Kyle Shanahan said, we'll go back to loving
- 33:58Speaker 4: each other, you know when we get when we land,
- 34:00Speaker 4: and if it's not already fixed, you know, now I'll
- 34:03Speaker 4: go fix it on the plane. So I think this
- 34:06Speaker 4: is kind of an interesting, you know, moment of reckoning
- 34:08Speaker 4: for for the forty nine ers. They get McCaffrey back,
- 34:11Speaker 4: they overcome some adversity, Purdy has a really nice game,
- 34:15Speaker 4: and now let's see where this thing takes them in
- 34:18Speaker 4: a very wild NFC West right Buck.
- 34:22Speaker 2: I don't know if you know this, but Antoine Randall
- 34:24Speaker 2: l which took a swipe at htt for him not
- 34:26Speaker 2: having a perfect hold, you know, like that was that
- 34:29Speaker 2: was one of the more one of more legendary plays
- 34:31Speaker 2: in Indiana history before they want to this pain run
- 34:33Speaker 2: right now?
- 34:34Speaker 3: No, no, no, not not quite, not your area. It
- 34:39Speaker 3: was I was, I was. I was red shirting at
- 34:43Speaker 3: that point.
- 34:44Speaker 4: So I was on the sideline watching Antoine Randall l
- 34:48Speaker 4: juke everybody out of their socks.
- 34:51Speaker 2: H They don't put up with that stuff with the
- 34:52Speaker 2: specialist man. They don't know. You guys are not that
- 34:55Speaker 2: practice the whole time. I mean, it's just, you know,
- 34:57Speaker 2: it drives people nuts a little bit with that stuff.
- 35:00Speaker 2: All right, well, there you go. That's a big win
- 35:02Speaker 2: there for Jake Moody and the forty nine ers. All right, guys,
- 35:11Speaker 2: New England Chicago. Two rookie quarterbacks, two quarterbacks headed in
- 35:15Speaker 2: the opposite direction. Drake May was excellent in this game.
- 35:19Speaker 2: The numbers don't blow you away. Fifteen to twenty five
- 35:21Speaker 2: a buck eighty four with touchdown a pick, but really
- 35:24Speaker 2: really made some big plays, showed poise, showed command. I
- 35:29Speaker 2: just thought he looked like he's, you know, just continue
- 35:31Speaker 2: to get better and better. Kayleb Williams sixteen for thirty
- 35:33Speaker 2: a buck twenty and I want to start. Let's start
- 35:36Speaker 2: on the Caleb side of things and we'll turn around
- 35:38Speaker 2: and we'll give Drake his his love. I tweeted this
- 35:41Speaker 2: out and Buck, I'll get your thoughts on it, but
- 35:44Speaker 2: this was my This was my tweet that I fired
- 35:46Speaker 2: off after I watched this stuff this morning. Biggest issue
- 35:50Speaker 2: for Caleb Williams right now. He's playing tentative, he's not
- 35:53Speaker 2: cutting it loose, he's trying too hard to avoid mistakes,
- 35:56Speaker 2: and he's guiding the football. It's almost like it's been
- 35:58Speaker 2: beat into him. Don't screw up. This ol isn't good.
- 36:01Speaker 2: But that's a bigger problem right now.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, DJ, It's one of the things that
- 36:07Speaker 1: I think too offense happens. We draft players and then
- 36:10Speaker 1: we're trying to change them from who they are. Hyley
- 36:14Speaker 1: Williams was always going to be a high risk player
- 36:17Speaker 1: based on how you played at USC and the success
- 36:19Speaker 1: that he's had. What you try to get him to
- 36:21Speaker 1: do is to play with that same mindset, but just
- 36:24Speaker 1: to make smarter decisions where you just don't make the
- 36:26Speaker 1: egregious errors. But if you try to take someone who
- 36:30Speaker 1: was a gunslinger like that and make him a game manager,
- 36:33Speaker 1: you take away all of the special qualities that made
- 36:35Speaker 1: them the number one overall pick. Now, some people will say, man,
- 36:38Speaker 1: that's what happens when you have a defensive minded head
- 36:41Speaker 1: coach that is in charge of a number one overall pick.
- 36:43Speaker 1: But I don't think it's that. I think it's a
- 36:45Speaker 1: conversation within the building. At some point, he has to
- 36:49Speaker 1: understand where the boundaries are and you have to live
- 36:51Speaker 1: through some of those mistakes to get to the other side.
- 36:55Speaker 1: And for Kayleb Williams, you hope today able to do
- 36:57Speaker 1: it with this regime, but it may be someone else
- 36:59Speaker 1: who comes in there who teaches him how to toe
- 37:02Speaker 1: the line without going to over the line and when
- 37:05Speaker 1: he can risk it and when he needs a dollar back.
- 37:07Speaker 1: Because that's especially Kayleb Williams that everyone fell in love
- 37:10Speaker 1: with during a predive process.
- 37:13Speaker 4: I mean, I think the you know, the way you
- 37:14Speaker 4: see what you're talking about, DJ is just holding onto
- 37:18Speaker 4: the football like trying to find the perfect throw right,
- 37:22Speaker 4: You're trying to find just riggershot. And I was sitting
- 37:27Speaker 4: next to you know, David Carr on an NFL game
- 37:30Speaker 4: Day final last night. I feel like you're sitting there
- 37:33Speaker 4: like itching his arm, like every time we showed the highlights,
- 37:35Speaker 4: you know, just get sacked, sacked.
- 37:39Speaker 3: Nine sacks in this game. Like that's not all on
- 37:41Speaker 3: the offensive line.
- 37:42Speaker 2: I get it.
- 37:42Speaker 4: The only finish with six healthy offensive lineman Tevin Jenkins,
- 37:45Speaker 4: you know, unfortunately seemingly goes down in every game and
- 37:50Speaker 4: they're forced to shuffle the deck and there's no continuity
- 37:53Speaker 4: up there, and there's no continuity in the way that
- 37:56Speaker 4: the Caleb's playing.
- 37:57Speaker 3: Like they we had that three.
- 37:58Speaker 4: Week you know spell where we all right, maybe starting
- 38:01Speaker 4: to kind of figure things out here, and then all
- 38:03Speaker 4: of a sudden, we've just completely gone off the rails
- 38:06Speaker 4: old in the football taking sacks and then when he
- 38:09Speaker 4: does get it out, I mean, like you know, one
- 38:10Speaker 4: hops the one to DJ Moore out on the side.
- 38:13Speaker 4: It's just it's all contributing, right, They're all factors.
- 38:16Speaker 2: DJ, Yeah, you can see it. I charted it. I mean,
- 38:19Speaker 2: I thought there were three clear beats up front. So
- 38:22Speaker 2: of all those sacks, they were clear. You got a
- 38:24Speaker 2: personnel issue, you got beat up front, you take the sack.
- 38:27Speaker 2: The others either there was a hot that was missed
- 38:30Speaker 2: where they've got clearly they're sending more than you can block.
- 38:33Speaker 2: You've got to get the ball to your hands. You
- 38:34Speaker 2: have to have that awareness they're coming, and other ones
- 38:37Speaker 2: are just him not letting it rip. You've got one
- 38:39Speaker 2: on ones. You've got to let that thing go. And
- 38:42Speaker 2: then when you talk about like some of the misses
- 38:45Speaker 2: he has throws in this game, you can see him.
- 38:47Speaker 2: There are instances where he lets it rip and you
- 38:50Speaker 2: can watch it, and they'll be quarterback coaches that you
- 38:54Speaker 2: know are going to be far more advanced than me
- 38:56Speaker 2: on this stuff. And I know they all put out
- 38:58Speaker 2: videos and you can watch them all, and I'm sure
- 39:00Speaker 2: there's a lot of value there. I can tell you
- 39:01Speaker 2: a simple thing just from scouting side of things. Fuck,
- 39:05Speaker 2: his arm speed changes when you when you when you
- 39:08Speaker 2: see somebody who's trying to be too fine, who doesn't
- 39:11Speaker 2: want to make a mistake, they guide the ball and
- 39:14Speaker 2: their arm speed slows down. He is a he's a whippy,
- 39:17Speaker 2: explosive thrower. And there's there's a couple in this game
- 39:20Speaker 2: where you'll see him. You'll see the ball come out
- 39:22Speaker 2: and it's it's firm and it's on target. And then
- 39:25Speaker 2: there's other times you see him just guide the ball.
- 39:27Speaker 2: He's just slowing it down, trying to guide the ball,
- 39:29Speaker 2: and he has no earthly idea where it's going when
- 39:31Speaker 2: he does that. And it's sad to see a guy
- 39:33Speaker 2: who's a natural thrower be so inside his head as
- 39:37Speaker 2: he is right now, because that the way he's throwing
- 39:40Speaker 2: the ball is not natural. That's not how he's always
- 39:42Speaker 2: throwing the football. And instead of saying, you know, because
- 39:45Speaker 2: we can look at the defensive coach side of things, well,
- 39:48Speaker 2: the number two overall pick is with a defensive coach,
- 39:50Speaker 2: he's doing great. The guy he played against in this game.
- 39:53Speaker 2: The number three or overall picks are the defensive coach,
- 39:55Speaker 2: and he's doing quite well. So you can't just say
- 39:58Speaker 2: it's just a defensive coach. Now, I will see there's
- 40:00Speaker 2: a difference between being a defensive coach and being a
- 40:03Speaker 2: defensive dominant team, like we wouldn't think of New England
- 40:06Speaker 2: right now personnel wise, and Washington is having great defenses,
- 40:10Speaker 2: whereas in Chicago, I could see saying, hey, we have
- 40:13Speaker 2: this unbelievable defense. Just don't screw it up, don't turn
- 40:16Speaker 2: the ball over, take sacks, drives it ins and punts
- 40:18Speaker 2: and kicks are good. We'll win games. Versus you know, hey,
- 40:22Speaker 2: look we got to score points to win games. We're
- 40:23Speaker 2: gonna live with whatever mistakes you make, but like, hey,
- 40:26Speaker 2: we're not holding people to, you know, to ten points
- 40:28Speaker 2: a game, So you go out there and do it.
- 40:30Speaker 2: And I almost wish that, And I don't know this
- 40:32Speaker 2: was the case, but I almost wish that if you're
- 40:35Speaker 2: an eber Flus's shoes buck, if the mindset isn't hey,
- 40:39Speaker 2: we got a great defense, you know what that means. Hey,
- 40:42Speaker 2: if you see it rip, it takes some time. Yay,
- 40:44Speaker 2: we'll turn the ball over our defense, we're gonna get
- 40:46Speaker 2: a stop, we'll get off the field, we'll get you
- 40:47Speaker 2: back out there. But like, we're going to live with
- 40:49Speaker 2: some of that stuff because that's what makes you you.
- 40:52Speaker 2: But be aggressive, be that type of guy. And I
- 40:54Speaker 2: say that as someone who I've seen in Jim Harbaugh
- 40:58Speaker 2: being around the Chargers Quinton Johnston. I've seen a player
- 41:01Speaker 2: whose confidence was was very low last year, and I've
- 41:04Speaker 2: seen a coach just speak confidence into this kid, and
- 41:07Speaker 2: I've seen him get so much better and now it's
- 41:10Speaker 2: it's like a totally different football player. And so I
- 41:12Speaker 2: just I don't I'm anti don't screw up coaching. And
- 41:14Speaker 2: I don't know if that's the case, but that's what
- 41:16Speaker 2: it looks like from the outside.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Okay, here's the case where subconsciously that message that subconstantly,
- 41:22Speaker 1: that message maybe getting to Kaya Williams because you have
- 41:24Speaker 1: Matt Eberflus is basically coaching for his job. If you
- 41:27Speaker 1: have security, you know that you're gonna be around, you're
- 41:30Speaker 1: more likely to encourage the young players to play through
- 41:33Speaker 1: those mistakes. But when you are on the last year
- 41:36Speaker 1: of your deal and the results are everything, it's hard
- 41:39Speaker 1: to be process oriented, even though you may want to
- 41:42Speaker 1: be that for your young quarterback. And when the results matter,
- 41:46Speaker 1: like they matter for Matt Eberflus because he's going to
- 41:49Speaker 1: be evaluated at the end of the season, he probably
- 41:52Speaker 1: is not encouraging Kayla Williams to a go let it go,
- 41:55Speaker 1: we'll get figured out or whatever. But by not doing that,
- 41:59Speaker 1: he's not getting the best version of Caleb Williams because
- 42:02Speaker 1: the one thing that you can't do, you can't play
- 42:04Speaker 1: the game afraid to be great, and right now, Kayla
- 42:07Speaker 1: Williams is afraid to be great because he doesn't want
- 42:10Speaker 1: to mess it up.
- 42:11Speaker 4: I think you guys nailed it on that. I just
- 42:12Speaker 4: it just doesn't feel like they are in sync. Really offense, defense,
- 42:18Speaker 4: like along the coaching staff and all of that is
- 42:20Speaker 4: getting to the quarterback here.
- 42:23Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it is, and I've seen it. I've just
- 42:25Speaker 2: seen it with other young quarterbacks.
- 42:26Speaker 1: It's a look.
- 42:28Speaker 2: Hopefully they have time, they can get it corrected and
- 42:30Speaker 2: he can play more free, play it more loose, and
- 42:32Speaker 2: kind of get back to being who he was coming out,
- 42:35Speaker 2: because it's a rough watch at this point in time.
- 42:37Speaker 2: Speaking of rough watches, the Jets have just they've they're
- 42:40Speaker 2: circling the drain man and it's been terrible. The Arizona Cardinals,
- 42:43Speaker 2: on the other hand, I want to give them some flowers.
- 42:46Speaker 2: I remember the Chargers going in there and losing that
- 42:47Speaker 2: game and thinking, oh gosh, they blew one against the Cardinals.
- 42:50Speaker 2: All of a sudden, you look up and the Cardinals now
- 42:52Speaker 2: they're playing really well and they've they've got some good
- 42:55Speaker 2: wins too. When you go through and look at what
- 42:58Speaker 2: they've been able to accomplish this year. Beat some good teams.
- 43:01Speaker 2: They've beaten the Rams, they've beaten the Chargers, they've beaten
- 43:03Speaker 2: the Niners. And Kyler is ultra ultra efficient with the
- 43:08Speaker 2: way he's playing Buck. I mean, this is this is
- 43:10Speaker 2: a winning formula that they've found there. They play really
- 43:12Speaker 2: hard on defense. James Connor can run it in this game.
- 43:15Speaker 2: You saw he can make some plays the past game
- 43:17Speaker 2: as well. McBride's a stud. They're figuring out Harrison how
- 43:21Speaker 2: to use him. It's it's a team that's getting better.
- 43:25Speaker 2: I think this is one of the best coach teams
- 43:27Speaker 2: that I've seen this year. I think they do a
- 43:28Speaker 2: great job with that staff.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Yeah, give Jonathan Gannon a lot of credit for those
- 43:34Speaker 1: guys being able to figure out Drew Pelsick and those
- 43:37Speaker 1: guys on the offense certainly helping Kyler Murray, I would say,
- 43:40Speaker 1: be maybe the best version that we've seen of himself
- 43:44Speaker 1: in this game at the position, because what you eventually
- 43:46Speaker 1: want to see from your dual threat quarterback, you want
- 43:49Speaker 1: to see them mature and evolve and it becomes less
- 43:52Speaker 1: about their overreliance on their legs and more about selectively
- 43:56Speaker 1: using the athleticism to create big plays when those plays
- 43:59Speaker 1: are there or when they're needed. Kyler Murray is doing
- 44:01Speaker 1: that very efficient in the pocket as a passer, but
- 44:04Speaker 1: every now and then he gets on the edges and
- 44:06Speaker 1: he's able to give you things on either design runs
- 44:09Speaker 1: or scrambles, and as this defense is beginning to play well,
- 44:13Speaker 1: they're learning how to play complimentary football. I can't say
- 44:16Speaker 1: enough good things about the Arizona car and the way
- 44:18Speaker 1: that they're getting it done. Underrated, flying under the radar,
- 44:22Speaker 1: But this is a team that is going to kind
- 44:24Speaker 1: of backdoor into the playoffs and potentially do some damage
- 44:27Speaker 1: when they get there because the quarterback is that good
- 44:29Speaker 1: and the defensive playing really well.
- 44:32Speaker 3: It's a couple of rookies, you know. Here in this game.
- 44:34Speaker 4: Obviously, Marvin Harrison comes up with the touchdown reception. He's
- 44:37Speaker 4: now at six to lead all rookies after you know,
- 44:39Speaker 4: it's kind of a slower start, and there have been
- 44:41Speaker 4: lulls the course of these ten weeks right for Marvin Harrison,
- 44:45Speaker 4: but he's becoming that player that you thought he was
- 44:47Speaker 4: going to be. Don't look now, but Trey Benson is
- 44:49Speaker 4: showing up right, and look, James Connor is still kind
- 44:52Speaker 4: of the guy in that run game. But Trey Benson
- 44:55Speaker 4: six yards of pop and has showcasing some explosiveness which
- 44:58Speaker 4: is kind of fun to want. Which now along with
- 45:01Speaker 4: Kyler Murray who seems like he could take it whenever
- 45:02Speaker 4: he wants it on the ground. And then just another
- 45:05Speaker 4: shout out to a guy that you and I Bucky
- 45:07Speaker 4: saw in Frisco, Texas at the Shrine Bowl, Rabbit taylored Emerson,
- 45:12Speaker 4: the Texas tech dB comes in in a big spot
- 45:15Speaker 4: and has a big time game, gets his hands on
- 45:17Speaker 4: a couple of balls, and is one of their better
- 45:20Speaker 4: dvs on the day. So that I thought, you know,
- 45:22Speaker 4: it's all kind of coming together really with some of
- 45:24Speaker 4: these young players mixing with a nice group of vets.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I've done a nice job there, a really nice
- 45:29Speaker 2: job there. So MANI doing a good jobs GM there
- 45:32Speaker 2: money awesome for it. Good dude, and who's brought in
- 45:34Speaker 2: a lot of talented players. All about your game? Jaggs
- 45:37Speaker 2: hung in there with the Vikings. Not a pretty game
- 45:40Speaker 2: from the Vikings standpoint. What'd you see on the Jag
- 45:41Speaker 2: side of things?
- 45:45Speaker 1: Well, look, I mean the jack side of thing. I
- 45:47Speaker 1: think it's tough when you're a team is struggling. You
- 45:49Speaker 1: got your backup quarterback in in mac Jones, and mac
- 45:51Speaker 1: Jones certainly couldn't perform at the level that maybe they
- 45:54Speaker 1: expected you would get when you had Trevor Lawrence in there.
- 45:57Speaker 1: And I think the familiar theme remains the same. When
- 46:00Speaker 1: you're dealing with the Minnesota Vikings. The relentless pressure forces
- 46:05Speaker 1: most quarterbacks and play callers to wilt. It's the barrage
- 46:09Speaker 1: of overload pressures and simulated pressures and just trying to
- 46:14Speaker 1: figure out all the stuff. It's not only physically taxing
- 46:18Speaker 1: to take those hits, but mentally taxing to figure out
- 46:21Speaker 1: what they're doing. And because there's such an experienced crew
- 46:24Speaker 1: in the back end, in particularly because you have Stefan
- 46:26Speaker 1: Gilmore playing, Arison Smith playing, you have Shag Griffin jumping
- 46:29Speaker 1: in and some of the sub packages, they're able to
- 46:32Speaker 1: do some advanced stuff when it comes to pre snap
- 46:34Speaker 1: disguises and post snap movement just to really put together defense.
- 46:39Speaker 1: And I can talk about the Jag playing hard and
- 46:41Speaker 1: doing all that, but the Vikings are going to be
- 46:43Speaker 1: one of those teams that's a thorn on your side,
- 46:46Speaker 1: not because of their offense, but because their defenses that could.
- 46:50Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's not a great day from Sam in
- 46:53Speaker 2: company offensively, but the defense carried them on that one.
- 46:56Speaker 2: The Vikings end up getting a big win. Let's get
- 46:59Speaker 2: to the game. I was at Chargeargers Titans Chargers kind
- 47:02Speaker 2: of did what you're supposed to do when you're playing
- 47:04Speaker 2: a two win team. They just kind of handled them.
- 47:06Speaker 2: They see the score there, twenty seven to seventeen. It
- 47:08Speaker 2: wasn't really that close. The Titans got a garbage touchdown
- 47:10Speaker 2: late in this ballgame after going right down the field
- 47:13Speaker 2: in their first drive in scoring. Then the Chargers defense
- 47:15Speaker 2: just kind of stiffened up. They didn't give up anything,
- 47:18Speaker 2: you know, after that great saucy nug by, the way
- 47:20Speaker 2: seven straight starts, no interceptions for Justin Herbert, he's protecting
- 47:25Speaker 2: the football. I was talking to somebody about this, you know,
- 47:28Speaker 2: they're talking about the offensive line with the Chargers, and
- 47:29Speaker 2: I said, look, they've invested in those two offensive tackles,
- 47:32Speaker 2: two first rounders, two top you know, top tier guys
- 47:35Speaker 2: with Slater and then with Joe Walt playing the way
- 47:37Speaker 2: he's playing. But I'm like even the interior, you know,
- 47:40Speaker 2: you look at some guys. There's Zion Johnson was a
- 47:42Speaker 2: high pick, but Bozman didn't cost much as a free agent.
- 47:45Speaker 2: You had as you see in this tape here, Jamari
- 47:48Speaker 2: saw your filling Infra trait Pipkins at guard. I mean,
- 47:50Speaker 2: it's not like this is like five all pros all
- 47:52Speaker 2: the way across the line. But when you look at it,
- 47:54Speaker 2: I mean the way they throw the ball like eighteen
- 47:56Speaker 2: times in this game. So you throw it eighteen times,
- 48:00Speaker 2: let's say, let's say six of those are off play
- 48:03Speaker 2: action where you've got an extra blocker, you've got another
- 48:05Speaker 2: three or four screens baked in, you move the pocket
- 48:08Speaker 2: on boots for another two or like. He's not asking
- 48:11Speaker 2: these guys to sit there and hold up and pass
- 48:14Speaker 2: pro for forty five fifty snaps. And that's what the
- 48:17Speaker 2: Chargers offense has been since Herbert got there. So you
- 48:21Speaker 2: saw it with the way he was running in this game.
- 48:23Speaker 2: He's going to be fresh coming down the stretch in
- 48:26Speaker 2: the second half. And now when you find yourself in
- 48:29Speaker 2: this portion of the schedule where they have coming in
- 48:31Speaker 2: Cincinnati on Sunday night followed by the Ravens on a
- 48:33Speaker 2: Monday night, they're gonna, you know, they're gonna have to
- 48:36Speaker 2: They're gonna have to ask more of justin Herbert. But
- 48:38Speaker 2: I think you know able to preserve him in games
- 48:40Speaker 2: like this. They haven't been able to do that in
- 48:42Speaker 2: the past. So a good win there for the Chargers,
- 48:45Speaker 2: all right. Rhtt we this is a game I knew
- 48:48Speaker 2: you were super excited about. It's the last one we
- 48:50Speaker 2: have here. Giants Panthers.
- 48:51Speaker 4: Your thoughts, Man, it's just a tough watch with the
- 48:56Speaker 4: Giants offense, you know, and it does make me wonder,
- 48:59Speaker 4: like where where did things go?
- 49:01Speaker 3: You know?
- 49:02Speaker 4: Two years ago we're talking about this Giants team making
- 49:04Speaker 4: a playoff push and winning a playoff game with you know,
- 49:08Speaker 4: a lot of the same faces and and some that
- 49:11Speaker 4: that aren't there that are you know, like Milik Neighbors,
- 49:13Speaker 4: who's you know, probably better than who was there at
- 49:15Speaker 4: the time. You know, Tyrone Tracy has fallen into a
- 49:18Speaker 4: nice role here, but you know, unfortunately there's one you know,
- 49:21Speaker 4: kind of turnover he's directly involved with, and the other
- 49:23Speaker 4: one was just, man, you just feel for it, you know,
- 49:27Speaker 4: the first play of overtime and they just cough it up.
- 49:30Speaker 4: I mean, that's kind of been the story of the
- 49:31Speaker 4: Giant season. It just makes you wonder, like they have
- 49:34Speaker 4: been preaching patients there in New York, especially with Daniel
- 49:38Speaker 4: Jones and now Brian Dabole is saying when directly asked,
- 49:42Speaker 4: we're evaluating everything and that's a hard place to be
- 49:45Speaker 4: for a Giants team that was in the postseason two
- 49:47Speaker 4: years ago.
- 49:49Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's also it's also buck a little bit
- 49:52Speaker 2: of a you know, a warning sign for some of
- 49:55Speaker 2: these some of these contracts. I was, I was at
- 49:57Speaker 2: a wedding this last weekend, and so you're at a wedding,
- 49:59Speaker 2: You're talking to a lot of people, and you get
- 50:00Speaker 2: into a lot of stories about how you met your spouse,
- 50:02Speaker 2: and you know, all this kind of stuff, and the
- 50:04Speaker 2: topic came up of like, yeah, yeah, we just knew,
- 50:06Speaker 2: like when we were together, we just knew this was
- 50:08Speaker 2: your person, you know. And I thought, you know, it's
- 50:10Speaker 2: kind of like a quarterback, like if you have to
- 50:12Speaker 2: ask yourself is he worth? Is he worth the second contract?
- 50:15Speaker 2: If you have to debate that you probably shouldn't marry
- 50:18Speaker 2: that person. Yeah, you probably shouldn't marry that person. And
- 50:21Speaker 2: I think of, you know, that's that's one of those
- 50:24Speaker 2: conversations that took place. So we'll see. I think it
- 50:28Speaker 2: makes a lot of sense for them to maybe look
- 50:31Speaker 2: at somebody else also because of the injury guarantee with
- 50:34Speaker 2: the contracts. So we'll see what they do when they
- 50:37Speaker 2: get a chance to reevaluate. But I have yet to
- 50:39Speaker 2: hear a coach say, we're going to reevaluate everything and
- 50:41Speaker 2: then decide, know what actually better than we thought. We're
- 50:43Speaker 2: gonna stay the course. We're gonna stay the course.
- 50:46Speaker 1: There.
- 50:46Speaker 2: Don't recall that ever happening. All right, we got through
- 50:49Speaker 2: all the games boys. Nice work. This was a fun
- 50:51Speaker 2: one week ten. Appreciate you guys hanging with us. We
- 50:54Speaker 2: will see you next time. Right here on move the.
