- 0:12Speaker 2: Good morning. Welcome to the show and a very short
- 0:16Speaker 2: work and school week for you. This could be your
- 0:18Speaker 2: last day of the week.

- 0:21Speaker 1: you might win $6000 you never know. Oh
- 0:23Speaker 2: yeah, and plenty more experiences coming your way as we
- 0:26Speaker 2: usher in the weekend. Stay tuned. Singapore's number one hit
- 0:29Speaker 2: music station.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Now, in case you missed it, we just posted this
- 0:36Speaker 2: yesterday afternoon. Your chance to walk away with a his
- 0:39Speaker 2: or hers bundle from the Disney adventure, basically merch that
- 0:43Speaker 2: you cannot find on land.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Sonny and I were given a budget of $500 each
- 0:49Speaker 1: and obviously we can't count. We busted
- 0:51Speaker 2: it. In fact, I was, I wasn't counting though. I
- 0:53Speaker 2: just grabbed and put in the basket, grabbed and put,
- 0:55Speaker 2: and then I went to the cashier. I was like, oh, whoops.
- 0:57Speaker 1: So we went shopping on your behalf and please go
- 0:59Speaker 1: check out whatever.
- 1:00Speaker 1: We bought for you and hopefully it goes to you
- 1:02Speaker 1: as well. Yeah,
- 1:03Speaker 2: um, all the instructions are on social media already, so
- 1:05Speaker 2: please go check it out. 987 on Instagram and if
- 1:08Speaker 2: you want to see the process of us shopping for you,
- 1:10Speaker 2: it's also available on TikTok. So please check it out
- 1:13Speaker 2: that hopefully will soon play from her latest album on
- 1:16Speaker 2: our show. Waking up to a morning of good news,
- 1:19Speaker 2: even though yesterday was very interesting because whatever you saw
- 1:22Speaker 2: on social media, you're like checking twice, right? Yes. But
- 1:26Speaker 2: some
- 1:27Speaker 2: I would say some companies and brands did put up
- 1:30Speaker 2: pretty hilarious April Fool's jokes. Like you know, it's an
- 1:33Speaker 2: April Fool's joke, but you know, sometimes it's just in
- 1:36Speaker 2: such an endearing way that you actually still find it
- 1:38Speaker 2: kind of funny.
- 1:40Speaker 1: And sometimes you wish the announced,
- 1:42Speaker 2: right.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Yes. So, you know, Puma announced that they're gonna create
- 1:47Speaker 2: like a Puma stick-on nails with like all the logos
- 1:50Speaker 2: and like the really cool like motifs and stuff like that.
- 1:54Speaker 2: To be honest, I intentionally made a set before for
- 1:58Speaker 2: like a shoot, and then now they actually, you know,
- 2:01Speaker 2: said they're going to produce it, but the moment I
- 2:02Speaker 2: saw on April Fools, I was like, I know it's
- 2:04Speaker 2: a joke, but I wish it were real.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I'm sure other nail salons and nail parlors, if you
- 2:10Speaker 1: tell them
- 2:11Speaker 2: they will, yeah, but that was pretty cool. Anyway, um,
- 2:14Speaker 2: two pieces of good news. I'm gonna just tell you
- 2:16Speaker 2: one first. Let's go one for later.
- 2:18Speaker 2: The first half of April, here we go, gonna be
- 2:21Speaker 2: wetter with thundery showers almost every day.
- 2:26Speaker 1: And you are not playing an April Fool's prank
- 2:29Speaker 1: on?
- 2:29Speaker 2: I mean, I hope not, even though this was actually
- 2:31Speaker 2: released last night, which is April 1st, to be fair,
- 2:34Speaker 2: but um, according to our experts, first half of April
- 2:37Speaker 2: in Singapore is expected to be cooler, wetter, thundery showers
- 2:41Speaker 2: all pretty much on most days.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Means every afternoon and may extend to the evening as well.
- 2:46Speaker 2: So this is music to our ears. But speaking of music,
- 2:50Speaker 2: we've got a big concert announcement and that's coming up
- 2:53Speaker 2: right after this.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I
- 2:54Speaker 1: cannot wait for this one. I'm
- 2:56Speaker 2: so excited so pumped for it. Now, before we open
- 2:58Speaker 2: up the phone lines just for you, before you get
- 3:00Speaker 2: to school.
- 3:01Speaker 2: This one we have to make sure that we get
- 3:04Speaker 2: you there and we get ourselves there somehow, OK?
- 3:06Speaker 1: The last time this guy was here, it was the
- 3:09Speaker 1: year 2023.
- 3:11Speaker 2: But I wouldn't call that like a full concert. It
- 3:14Speaker 2: was part of a bigger event.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it was part of the Formula One Singapore Airlines
- 3:19Speaker 1: Singapore Grand
- 3:20Speaker 1: Prix.
- 3:20Speaker 2: So this was at the Padang. Please welcome back Post Malone.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I
- 3:26Speaker 2: cannot wait. He's gonna be over at the National Stadium,
- 3:29Speaker 2: 25th of September for a full-blown tour in Asia.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Now, take these dates down. Next Monday, April 6th. That's
- 3:38Speaker 1: the artist pre-sale. April 7th to 9th, it's the Mastercard pre-sale.
- 3:44Speaker 1: The Live Nation pre-sale happens April 9th, and then general sale.
- 3:50Speaker 1: April 10th. Yeah.
- 3:52Speaker 2: So it's interesting, right, because we've seen the evolution of
- 3:55Speaker 2: the way
- 3:55Speaker 2: Um, people sell concert tickets over the years. Now there's
- 3:59Speaker 2: like many different types of pre-sales. So I think half
- 4:01Speaker 2: the people who will be at the concert would have
- 4:04Speaker 2: somehow gotten their hands on a pre-sale ticket, which would
- 4:07Speaker 2: be good for you, good for you. So
- 4:08Speaker 1: of
- 4:08Speaker 1: course, all the albums that he has released I actually
- 4:11Speaker 1: on record. I'm very excited. Hopefully we get to meet
- 4:13Speaker 1: him and interview him as
- 4:14Speaker 1: well.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Would love to, my gosh, he's such a gem and
- 4:17Speaker 2: like you can really feel the sincerity when he's performing,
- 4:20Speaker 2: like the raw feelings and everything. He's going, he's stopping
- 4:23Speaker 2: by quite a lot of Asian cities, Hong Kong.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Kaohsiung in in Taiwan, I believe that's Taiwan, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Seoul, Tokyo.
- 4:31Speaker 2: So if you are such a big fan, I'm pretty
- 4:33Speaker 2: sure that some people may actually see him multiple times.
- 4:36Speaker 2: They'll go to different countries.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Just that
- 4:38Speaker 1: his tour name we cannot really say on air. Yeah,
- 4:44Speaker 2: it's OK. It's, it's all right. Yeah, there we go.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Some things are not safe for work. It's OK. But still,
- 4:48Speaker 2: we love you, Post Malone, and here's hoping to see
- 4:50Speaker 2: you in person. About to open up phone lines right now,
- 4:53Speaker 2: whether you're in primary, secondary school.
- 4:54Speaker 2: School, uni, poly, ITE, whichever, it doesn't matter what kind
- 4:59Speaker 2: of institution you're in, we would love to hear from
- 5:01Speaker 2: you and give a shout out to your
- 5:02Speaker 2: school.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Give your school a nice mention and maybe even your
- 5:05Speaker 1: CCA and tell us what's nice to eat over at
- 5:08Speaker 1: your canteen, or if you're part of the central kitchen system,
- 5:13Speaker 1: let us know whether the food now is better or not. Actually,
- 5:15Speaker 2: that conversation kind of fizzled down a bit, right? So
- 5:17Speaker 2: maybe they,
- 5:19Speaker 1: I was just
- 5:19Speaker 1: watching it, uh, CNA insiders talking point. Did they go,
- 5:23Speaker 2: go check?
- 5:26Speaker 1: Diana was actually going around a few schools trying the
- 5:28Speaker 1: central kitchen system love her, yeah. And the one thing
- 5:30Speaker 1: I love about her is in the show, it's honest.
- 5:33Speaker 1: She doesn't have to fake a reaction. She, if it's,
- 5:36Speaker 2: gives it to you as it is,
- 5:37Speaker 1: she'll tell you it's OK, OK.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Well, I, I, I think I need to watch that one,
- 5:41Speaker 2: that episode. But regardless, we would love to hear from you. 669-11987.
- 5:47Speaker 2: It would be lovely to hear from you. So we
- 5:49Speaker 2: are heading to the phone lines, 669-11987.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Clarence, what happened?
- 5:54Speaker 2: You hung up or rather we lost you midway through
- 5:57Speaker 1: our call. I'm not wrong, man. We heard you, but
- 6:01Speaker 1: we couldn't get the song in your message. I think she, he,
- 6:04Speaker 1: he was going through the tunnel.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Oh. OK. Well, um, call us back. If not, we
- 6:09Speaker 2: are open for phone lines again. 669-11987. Still open just
- 6:13Speaker 2: for you, a second chance at this to get your
- 6:16Speaker 2: voice heard. Give your school a shout out and get
- 6:18Speaker 2: a song request in. Phone lines are open.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Um, Megan. Megan, hello, Megan, which school are you from?
- 6:24Speaker 2: Per Secondary. I went to your aspiring presenters workshop. Oh,
- 6:29Speaker 2: you did from Per Secondary. Well, you're finally on air. Hello. Hi, Megan.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Megan, how's the monkey situation over at Per Secondary? The monkey?
- 6:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Alright, well, hopefully they're not disturbing you too much. What
- 6:43Speaker 2: song can we get you today?
- 6:44Speaker 2: And who is it going out to? Um, any BTS
- 6:47Speaker 2: song from 2013 to 2018. I want to hear one
- 6:51Speaker 2: of their throwback songs.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Throwback song.
- 6:54Speaker 2: BTS. OK, I'll try to get you one. And who
- 6:56Speaker 2: is it going out to? My, my school, my parents. Gotcha. OK, Megan,
- 7:02Speaker 2: you have a fantastic time, OK, and we hope to
- 7:04Speaker 2: see you soon at your school.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Take care, Megan.
- 7:06Speaker 1: OK, thank you.
- 7:09Speaker 2: number one hit music station. Sonia and Joakim here with you.
- 7:11Speaker 2: So a couple of weeks ago, uh, we definitely talked
- 7:14Speaker 2: about this and I think you might have seen it
- 7:16Speaker 2: across a lot of um news channels and social media
- 7:18Speaker 2: outlets as well.
- 7:19Speaker 2: It's actually a shop and a brand that we're quite
- 7:22Speaker 2: familiar with, 12 Cupcakes. You know, at one point you've
- 7:25Speaker 2: seen it everywhere, right? In every major mall, in the basement, um,
- 7:29Speaker 2: you see people taking away cupcakes for birthdays or whatever.
- 7:32Speaker 1: And whenever there's gathering that involves snacks, you'll see a
- 7:36Speaker 1: 12 cupcakes.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. But you know the unfortunate case of how
- 7:43Speaker 2: they shut down very suddenly and the employees were obviously
- 7:47Speaker 2: angry and very upset, right?
- 7:49Speaker 2: So, after 5 months, 80 ex-12 Cupcakes staff will be
- 7:54Speaker 2: getting half of their unpaid salaries and MOM has issued
- 7:58Speaker 2: a very stern warning to the owners of 12 Cupcakes, OK? So, thankfully,
- 8:04Speaker 2: they're getting some sort of uh repayments, even though it's
- 8:07Speaker 2: Half of their unpaid salaries that's the thing. So right
- 8:21Speaker 2: now I think.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Seeing all this that's going on. But yeah, I think
- 8:25Speaker 2: MOM has made it clear that they are not happy.
- 8:28Speaker 2: They issued a very, very stern warning. But of course,
- 8:31Speaker 2: we all know FNB can be tough. They were definitely
- 8:35Speaker 2: in distress, but I think it was the way that
- 8:37Speaker 2: they handled it.
- 8:38Speaker 2: That could have been better, you know. I don't know,
- 8:40Speaker 1: but sometimes I really feel like
- 8:47Speaker 2: everyday people like us need to understand business sometimes
- 8:47Speaker 1: to see whether we take action and protect
- 8:49Speaker 1: ourselves better.
- 8:50Speaker 2: So it's good that there are companies looking out for
- 8:52Speaker 2: the employees and helping them.
- 8:54Speaker 2: But I think as someone who's owning a business, and
- 8:57Speaker 2: I've witnessed, you know, my dad owned a business in
- 8:59Speaker 2: the past, and we, we know friends who are business owners,
- 9:02Speaker 2: it's safe to say I, I would think that they
- 9:04Speaker 2: would have dealt with this kind of situation a lot better,
- 9:07Speaker 2: or with more empathy at least, you know, you can't
- 9:09Speaker 2: just like
- 9:10Speaker 2: Close shop and shut it out, right?
- 9:12Speaker 1: At
- 9:12Speaker 1: least communicate to your frontliners a bit
- 9:14Speaker 1: more,
- 9:14Speaker 2: right? Yeah. Anyway, some new tracks coming up and also $6000.
- 9:18Speaker 2: So nobody won, right, yesterday?
- 9:20Speaker 1: No, no, no. OK, not on track. If not,
- 9:22Speaker 2: our group chat will be like buzzing off.
- 9:24Speaker 1: That means if nobody wins tomorrow, on Monday, we'll snowball
- 9:28Speaker 1: to $7000. $7000. Really? We are snowballing already. Alright, I'm
- 9:32Speaker 1: ready for that.
- 9:34Speaker 1: I was gonna use the phrase a massive bombshell. Then
- 9:39Speaker 1: I realized that the current world's climate, maybe not use
- 9:42Speaker 1: it for this context, but yeah, if you saw the
- 9:44Speaker 1: news yesterday, wow, over at Terminal 5's construction site, a
- 9:50Speaker 1: 250 kg aerial bomb from World War II.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Terrifying.
- 9:56Speaker 1: It was discovered. It was unexploded, by the way, and look,
- 10:00Speaker 1: these things are scary. One wrong move.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Or if the drill enters the wrong angle, it could
- 10:06Speaker 1: have
- 10:06Speaker 2: exploded. But I'm so curious because they, they obviously this
- 10:09Speaker 2: is a good thing because they did the inspections before
- 10:12Speaker 2: they started and as they should, right? But how big
- 10:15Speaker 2: was it? Did they say roughly?
- 10:16Speaker 1: I mean, think about 250 kg. It's literally a bomb
- 10:21Speaker 1: dropped from a plane.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, sank into the, into the ground. Yeah,
- 10:27Speaker 1: yeah. So according to our friends over at the SAF,
- 10:30Speaker 1: if you heard some
- 10:32Speaker 1: Loud noises over at the Changi area from 2:30 to
- 10:36Speaker 1: 4:30 a.m. this morning. It was because they were conducting
- 10:40Speaker 1: a safe detonation of the aerial bomb.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Well, I don't think my parents would have heard it.
- 10:45Speaker 2: I mean, they live in Pasir Ris quite near, but not,
- 10:47Speaker 2: not near enough to hear it, I would say. But
- 10:50Speaker 2: let me, let me text them and ask.
- 10:51Speaker 1: I
- 10:51Speaker 1: think most of us agree in the comment section. Thank
- 10:53Speaker 1: goodness it was discovered at an area away from the
- 10:58Speaker 1: main Changi Airport.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh wow, I mean props.
- 11:01Speaker 2: To the entire team, you know, the, the SPF, um,
- 11:04Speaker 2: Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, all of them who are
- 11:07Speaker 2: working very hard to get T5 ready. Yeah,
- 11:09Speaker 1: most importantly, thank goodness.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, but this one, I think they'll be taking
- 11:15Speaker 2: tons of photos and documenting this for sure, right? Yeah, that,
- 11:18Speaker 2: that's part of history, which,
- 11:20Speaker 1: which now makes me wonder how many more unexploded bombs
- 11:24Speaker 1: do we have in Singapore from World War II. I'm
- 11:27Speaker 1: pretty sure like the former Ford factory area Bukit.
- 11:30Speaker 1: that could
- 11:31Speaker 2: be possible, but I think there would have been professionals
- 11:35Speaker 2: that went into various places that they suspect it would
- 11:38Speaker 2: have been to like try and detect these things already, right?
- 11:41Speaker 2: Perhaps you know
- 11:44Speaker 1: housing and that's,
- 11:45Speaker 2: I think it's safe
- 11:47Speaker 1: forested areas, I'm curious.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, and not just us, right? I think
- 11:51Speaker 2: other countries in the world, they have a lot of relics. Anyway,
- 11:54Speaker 2: stick around, $6000 could very well be yours in less
- 11:58Speaker 2: than 20 minutes.
- 11:59Speaker 2: OK, so if you follow us very closely, you would
- 12:01Speaker 2: know by now that just yesterday afternoon thereabouts, Joakim and
- 12:04Speaker 2: I collaborated on a post with 987 because when we
- 12:08Speaker 2: were on the Disney adventure, which is now like 3
- 12:10Speaker 2: weekends ago, we did some major shopping for you with
- 12:14Speaker 2: a budget of $1000 in total. And guess what, we
- 12:17Speaker 2: busted it anyway.
- 12:19Speaker 1: As it stands, Sonia, on that Instagram post, 307 comments already.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Less than 24 hours. Good luck to our team who
- 12:31Speaker 1: has to pick two winners.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, and we actually are gonna run it for
- 12:34Speaker 2: a week. Yeah. Now I'm thinking like, should we be
- 12:37Speaker 2: running it just for a couple of days, but no,
- 12:39Speaker 2: I wanted to give, we wanted to give you a
- 12:41Speaker 2: chance to get your comments in, you know, in case
- 12:43Speaker 2: you see it later on. I,
- 12:44Speaker 1: I
- 12:44Speaker 1: feel we should pin this post to the top so
- 12:46Speaker 1: people can find it easily. It's the one with Sonia
- 12:48Speaker 1: holding Stella Lou and Shelly May, is it? And for
- 12:52Speaker 1: me it's Spider Sheila May, Sheila May,
- 12:55Speaker 2: I think.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Shelly, OK, look, when it comes to Duffy and friends,
- 12:59Speaker 1: forgive Sonia and I. We
- 13:00Speaker 2: only just discovered
- 13:02Speaker 1: it.
- 13:02Speaker 2: We are, we
- 13:02Speaker 1: are newbies to it, but Sonia has fallen in love
- 13:05Speaker 1: with Duffy
- 13:05Speaker 1: and
- 13:06Speaker 2: Shelly May. I have Duffy.
- 13:08Speaker 1: OK,
- 13:09Speaker 2: it's, yeah, you're right, Shelly with an I
- 13:11Speaker 1: E. Shelly May, there you go, Sheila May. Sheila
- 13:14Speaker 2: la.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Sounds like some actress. Hey, can I,
- 13:17Speaker 1: can
- 13:18Speaker 2: I,
- 13:18Speaker 1: can I
- 13:18Speaker 1: pass my own comment here? I realized for your bundle, right,
- 13:22Speaker 1: the her bundle, people are leaving comments saying, I want
- 13:25Speaker 1: to win it for myself, OK? And then for my bundle,
- 13:29Speaker 1: which has Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Spider-Man, t-shirts and Avengers and
- 13:32Speaker 1: all that, I'm getting parents saying I want to win
- 13:35Speaker 1: for my 3 year old or 8-year-old. Hello.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Well, what does that say about Joakim it.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Hey, there's a Tony Stark arc reactor over there. Oh,
- 13:42Speaker 2: just one to save the whole.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Save your whole image. See, here's the thing, because mine
- 13:50Speaker 2: not just has like stuffed toys and like, you know,
- 13:52Speaker 2: plushies and all that. It's got like jewelry. It's got accessories.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Mine got t-shirts and duffel bag. It has a Baymax
- 13:58Speaker 2: claw clip. It's super cute and you know they're like
- 14:01Speaker 2: 3 colors these 3.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Looking things, right? They're actually reusable bags, shopping bags. It's
- 14:07Speaker 1: so cute.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Anyway, get your comments going in at 987 FM's Instagram. Again,
- 14:11Speaker 1: it's a picture of myself holding the Spider-Man plushie and
- 14:14Speaker 1: Sonia holding Shelly May and
- 14:15Speaker 2: Stella from the Duffy universe. There you go.
- 14:19Speaker 2: But yeah, uh, please comment away you've got a few
- 14:21Speaker 2: more days to do that. Keep sharing, keep reposting so
- 14:24Speaker 2: that more of your friends can participate as well. Joakim's
- 14:27Speaker 2: run off to the bathroom for a second. Like a
- 14:30Speaker 2: minute ago, he was like, Sosa.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Do I have time to, uh, you know, answer the
- 14:35Speaker 2: call of nature but I might need 5 minutes. I said,
- 14:37Speaker 2: just go ahead, just go ahead. Morning show things is
- 14:40Speaker 2: all I have to say, OK? $6000 though, which is
- 14:43Speaker 2: way more appetizing and palatable than what I just mentioned,
- 14:46Speaker 2: up for grabs in less than 10 minutes. Please stand
- 14:48Speaker 2: by for that. You already know what to do.
- 14:50Speaker 2: 987 Secret Sound has been going on for weeks now,
- 14:53Speaker 2: and so far we've got some commonly said answers that
- 14:56Speaker 2: we would love for you to avoid clicking of a pen, stapler.
- 15:00Speaker 2: I think, um, scissors is a very common one as well.
- 15:03Speaker 2: So please avoid saying that and wait for the cue
- 15:06Speaker 2: to call happening in less than 10 minutes.
- 15:09Speaker 1: 87 secret
- 15:14Speaker 1: What's that sound
- 15:16Speaker 2: Here we go for $6000. If no one wins this week,
- 15:20Speaker 2: we might just snowball again.
- 15:21Speaker 1: And
- 15:22Speaker 1: by the way, if you're thinking about the secret buzzer prize,
- 15:25Speaker 1: it has been won yesterday by one Edwin. Congratulations, $1000
- 15:30Speaker 1: to the Pala One over at Sentosa
- 15:32Speaker 2: awaits you. Yeah, it's a beautiful experience there, but don't worry,
- 15:36Speaker 2: the gifts don't end. Simply by calling through, you qualify
- 15:39Speaker 2: for the big grand draw. I think that's amazing already.
- 15:42Speaker 2: So, here's your chance. Listen very carefully. This is your
- 15:45Speaker 2: secret sound.
- 15:47Speaker 2: And I'm gonna play it one more time.
- 15:50Speaker 1: You know what not to say. Yes. Call us now.
- 15:57Speaker 1: What's that sound?
- 16:00Speaker 2: 87 secret.
- 16:05Speaker 1: that sound.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Good morning, Sonia Joakim. This is Issa. Morning, Isa. Sounding
- 16:11Speaker 2: so beautiful today. What's your week looking like? Uh, good,
- 16:15Speaker 2: but not so good. Going to work. Going to work, OK.
- 16:17Speaker 2: You know
- 16:17Speaker 1: what? Let's improve it. Let's make it better. Firstly, Issa, congratulations.
- 16:22Speaker 1: You are qualified for the big grand draw already.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Your name is in there. So pretty much you increase
- 16:29Speaker 2: your chances of winning something at the big grand draw. Yeah.
- 16:32Speaker 1: But
- 16:32Speaker 1: for now, let's have you start your Good Friday weekend
- 16:37Speaker 1: with 6000
- 16:39Speaker 2: dollars. OK, you probably already know what not to say,
- 16:43Speaker 2: especially if you tune in in the mornings. So listen
- 16:45Speaker 2: very carefully.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Isa, for $6000 what is the 987 secret sound? OK,
- 16:54Speaker 2: I'll
- 16:54Speaker 1: try.
- 16:55Speaker 2: It's a clapper, like, you know, the NDP clapper or
- 16:58Speaker 2: birthday parties clapper. Yeah, at concerts, yeah, big events. OK,
- 17:03Speaker 2: a clapper is your final answer. Let's find out.
- 17:08Speaker 2: You are incorrect.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Your chance to play
- 17:11Speaker 2: 987's
- 17:12Speaker 1: secret sound continues.
- 17:15Speaker 1: That.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Sonia, only because Isa said NDP clapper, right? Yeah, I
- 17:21Speaker 1: can verify that it has a thicker sound to
- 17:23Speaker 1: it.
- 17:23Speaker 2: It doesn't sound like this. Yeah,
- 17:25Speaker 1: it is not the answer we're looking for, but boss
- 17:27Speaker 1: Jenny said a very good guess. Let me try for
- 17:30Speaker 1: next time.
- 17:31Speaker 2: We,
- 17:32Speaker 1: we'll
- 17:32Speaker 2: credit Issa for that. Anyway, Issa, thank you so much
- 17:35Speaker 2: for trying. Don't give up and we'll see you at
- 17:37Speaker 2: the big grand draw, OK? All right. Thank you.
- 17:40Speaker 1: So one guess win big.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Good news is the prices don't stop. Aside from our
- 17:51Speaker 2: Disney adventure gifts, the total was over $1000 and also
- 17:55Speaker 2: $6000 that almost could have gone to ISA. OK. We
- 17:59Speaker 2: also have one more treat coming up after 8:00 a.m.
- 18:01Speaker 1: I want to get a quick check on your mentality, OK,
- 18:03Speaker 1: and your thinking. Given how tomorrow is Good Friday and
- 18:07Speaker 1: it's Friday, the last day of the week, do you
- 18:09Speaker 1: want someone to win Secret Sound tomorrow and keep it
- 18:12Speaker 1: at $6000 or no?
- 18:13Speaker 1: Everybody wins and then Monday $7000 somebody
- 18:16Speaker 1: wins.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Look, I don't know. There are two ways of seeing it, right? Like, um,
- 18:20Speaker 2: if I win $60 I'm also happy, you know. And
- 18:23Speaker 2: if you, you rack it up to $700 or even more,
- 18:26Speaker 2: if really no one wins, chances are there's going to
- 18:29Speaker 2: be more people trying for it. So it might make
- 18:31Speaker 2: it harder for our listeners to win, you know what
- 18:34Speaker 2: I mean?
- 18:35Speaker 1: My personal hope is that we snowball
- 18:37Speaker 1: to 10,000
- 18:38Speaker 2: dollars. Yeah, I know that's a very nice number, right.
- 18:41Speaker 2: But where's the extra money coming from, ah?
- 18:42Speaker 1: Boss Jenny.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Can you text your bestie Diplo?
- 18:47Speaker 2: Why?
- 18:47Speaker 1: Ask him to come back to Singapore for a concert
- 18:49Speaker 1: or something like that, a small
- 18:50Speaker 1: one.
- 18:51Speaker 2: I think, you know what, um, this is just some
- 18:55Speaker 2: what I call it insider information. I don't know. Tell us. Um, he,
- 18:58Speaker 2: he did mention that he finds Singapore not as interesting
- 19:02Speaker 2: as some places, but not in a bad way because
- 19:05Speaker 2: I think it was the venue, honestly.
- 19:07Speaker 2: I think it was the venue. We need to give
- 19:08Speaker 2: him a better venue with a better crowd, and I think,
- 19:11Speaker 2: you know, he will love
- 19:12Speaker 1: it. He is not
- 19:13Speaker 1: the only DJ that Singaporeans.
- 19:16Speaker 2: So he didn't say that on the mic, but in
- 19:18Speaker 2: a private conversation back and he, he mentioned it. He
- 19:20Speaker 2: was like, oh yeah, I'm just flying out immediately like tomorrow, tonight, sorry.
- 19:24Speaker 2: And
- 19:24Speaker 1: by the way, Diplo is part of Maser just in
- 19:27Speaker 1: case you're wondering why we're talking about
- 19:28Speaker 2: Diplo. Yeah. Anyway, um, here's the thing. So yesterday, I
- 19:32Speaker 2: had a bit of a situation with my tooth.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Initially I was worried it was a toothache. OK, you know,
- 19:40Speaker 1: in the last 3 or 4 years, right, I realized
- 19:42Speaker 1: our show has become like a health show.
- 19:44Speaker 2: No, not really. OK,
- 19:45Speaker 1: let me explain about my colonoscopy live on air, which
- 19:48Speaker 1: no
- 19:49Speaker 2: one wants to know about, OK,
- 19:52Speaker 1: gastric scope and all that. Now we're talking about your teeth.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Yeah, no, but let me explain why. OK. So, um,
- 19:57Speaker 2: years ago I did a wisdom teeth surgery, as you remember, right?
- 20:00Speaker 2: And I think you laughed at me looking like a
- 20:01Speaker 2: chipmunk for like a week.
- 20:03Speaker 1: The closest to.
- 20:04Speaker 1: I've ever seen.
- 20:05Speaker 2: It was, it was pretty bad, the swelling, but I
- 20:07Speaker 2: had to do it because it was bugging me for years,
- 20:10Speaker 2: you know, causing migraines and all that. But because of
- 20:13Speaker 2: the way that my teeth and gums are, because I
- 20:16Speaker 2: have a very narrow, uh, I have a very narrow jaw,
- 20:20Speaker 2: according to the dentist. So that's why they had to
- 20:22Speaker 2: remove urgently remove the wisdom teeth at the back. For
- 20:25Speaker 2: the
- 20:25Speaker 1: past 10 seconds. I'm trying to see where the narrow
- 20:27Speaker 1: jaw is, but OK, yeah,
- 20:28Speaker 2: it's,
- 20:29Speaker 2: you can't see it. It's too narrow.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Thanks for the compliment. So, so basically, right at the end,
- 20:39Speaker 2: if you've done a wisdom teeth surgery before or you
- 20:41Speaker 2: are a dentist, you understand, um, there's a bit of
- 20:44Speaker 2: a flap that has been left behind by the gum.
- 20:47Speaker 2: So the gum is flapping over the back molar. OK,
- 20:51Speaker 2: that's the best I can explain on air. That's the
- 20:54Speaker 2: best I can explain. So there was always a concern
- 20:57Speaker 2: that food might get trapped in that little pocket, as
- 21:00Speaker 2: we call it.
- 21:01Speaker 2: And uh my dent yeah save for a rainy day.
- 21:06Speaker 2: And my dentist did say like, oh, you know, you
- 21:07Speaker 2: just got to keep up your proper dental hygiene. I'm like, yeah, OK,
- 21:10Speaker 2: so I floss every day, you know, I rinse, all that.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Somehow or rather, I think I might have bitten into something.
- 21:16Speaker 2: I might have eaten really fast or something and caused
- 21:19Speaker 2: an abrasion at the back with the, the gum area,
- 21:22Speaker 2: at the gum area.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Sony Chew eating fast is unheard of. That's me. That's
- 21:26Speaker 1: my job.
- 21:27Speaker 2: When I'm rushing, I maybe I'm eating fast. So then,
- 21:30Speaker 2: you know, something must have gotten stuck in there and
- 21:33Speaker 2: uh it started swelling. So over the past two days, right,
- 21:35Speaker 2: I've been living with like a swollen gum at the
- 21:38Speaker 2: back of my left cheek area.
- 21:41Speaker 2: So then I decided, you know what, I think I
- 21:42Speaker 2: need to go see a dentist because I was rinsing it,
- 21:46Speaker 2: it wasn't really working, it wasn't helping. I was worried
- 21:48Speaker 2: that like my teeth will start rotting and fall off. OK,
- 21:51Speaker 2: that's escalation and very extreme, probably unheard of, but yeah.
- 21:55Speaker 2: So I decided, you know what, I, I got to go.
- 21:57Speaker 2: But the only thing was that I had no time
- 21:59Speaker 2: to make an appointment with my usual dentist, which was
- 22:01Speaker 2: kind of out of the way because I was going
- 22:03Speaker 2: to be around town for work yesterday.
- 22:06Speaker 2: So I called up this random dentist that I saw
- 22:09Speaker 2: in the CBD area before because I was going to
- 22:11Speaker 2: be there. And they said, oh yeah, we could slot
- 22:13Speaker 2: you in at, you know, 4 p.m. or something towards
- 22:15Speaker 2: the end of the day. I said, OK, sure, I'll go.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Keeping in mind that I've never been to this dentist
- 22:20Speaker 2: in my life. OK. I literally just remembered it. I
- 22:22Speaker 2: went to Google the number, I found it and I
- 22:25Speaker 2: called them. Yeah, so I decided, you know what, CBD
- 22:28Speaker 2: area dentists should be able to trust la, right? I mean,
- 22:33Speaker 2: central area, they've been there for a long time.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Must be reliable, you know, I don't know, just my thoughts,
- 22:39Speaker 2: my thoughts. So I went there and everything thinking that
- 22:41Speaker 2: she would just do a quick check and um give
- 22:44Speaker 2: me some meds for the inflammation and send me on
- 22:46Speaker 2: my way. But no, when I got into the dental chair,
- 22:50Speaker 2: she said, I think we need to do an X-ray
- 22:52Speaker 2: because I can't see what's going on like underneath the tooth,
- 22:55Speaker 2: and she's worried that it was like um a cavity
- 22:57Speaker 2: or bacteria buildup that I didn't know of for a
- 22:59Speaker 2: very long time because of the gum pocket, and she
- 23:02Speaker 2: was worried. So she's like, let me just do a quick,
- 23:04Speaker 2: you know, X-ray.
- 23:06Speaker 2: And I was also fingers crossed, I was like, um,
- 23:08Speaker 2: they're not trying to knock me off or anything, right? No,
- 23:10Speaker 2: I don't think so. I don't think I don't think so. Yeah.
- 23:13Speaker 2: So anyway, they're, you know, claimable and everything, so it was, yeah,
- 23:17Speaker 2: it was fine and it was reasonably, reasonably priced.
- 23:21Speaker 2: And then she goes, OK, So, I'm so sorry, but
- 23:23Speaker 2: I'm gonna have to put a local anesthesia on you,
- 23:25Speaker 2: like injection, like, that's local, right? Yeah. So she has
- 23:30Speaker 2: to inject the anesthetic and do a a small procedure
- 23:33Speaker 2: to like do a deep clean behind to prevent any
- 23:35Speaker 2: cavity from happening because it's very difficult to reach. So she, um,
- 23:41Speaker 2: so she said it's not like.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Gross or anything. I think it's just like a buildup
- 23:44Speaker 2: of bacteria which you can't really see, like it doesn't
- 23:47Speaker 2: come out as anything nasty. Bit of bleeding, but she
- 23:50Speaker 2: managed to clear it up. Feels a bit better today,
- 23:52Speaker 2: but I don't want to jinx it. I may have
- 23:55Speaker 2: to go back for another, um, procedure soon to laser
- 23:58Speaker 2: off that gum
- 23:59Speaker 2: pocket.
- 23:59Speaker 1: It's all the avocados and the eggs and the hai
- 24:02Speaker 1: tilaos you had lah. What has
- 24:04Speaker 2: that got to do with the gums?
- 24:06Speaker 1: Any stuck there.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Give us a call 669-11987. I would consider myself to
- 24:14Speaker 2: be quite brave to go and try a random dentist.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Oh, so you're the dentist that I
- 24:20Speaker 2: usually go, I usually do that, but in the event
- 24:23Speaker 2: of like an emergency where I may not be anywhere
- 24:26Speaker 2: near that dentist or that doctor, I may, I may
- 24:28Speaker 2: take a chance, you know. But with my GP, right,
- 24:31Speaker 2: I will still go back to the same GP.
- 24:32Speaker 1: But aren't most people like that?
- 24:35Speaker 1: You think so? I, I, I stick to the same hairdresser, yeah,
- 24:38Speaker 1: the same, uh, facial doctor for like random face treatments
- 24:42Speaker 1: and all that, yeah, hairdresser. When my hairdresser is overseas,
- 24:46Speaker 1: I won't cut my hair.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Really? Yes.
- 24:48Speaker 2: What if he's on a sabbatical for like 3 months?
- 24:50Speaker 1: Then I'll come out looking like John Wick.
- 24:53Speaker 2: No, but I, I don't mind taking a chance, you see. So,
- 24:56Speaker 2: that's why I.
- 24:57Speaker 2: I booked a, you know, a random appointment with a
- 24:59Speaker 2: doctor I've never seen before. Um, hair styling once or
- 25:03Speaker 2: twice I may have tried some others, you know, but
- 25:06Speaker 2: that was just because it was very urgent. So give
- 25:07Speaker 2: us a call or a WhatsApp message 90050987. Let us know.
- 25:12Speaker 2: Are you the kind of person that you would definitely
- 25:15Speaker 2: have to lock in the same doctor, the same dentist,
- 25:18Speaker 2: same hairdresser, you have to go to the
- 25:19Speaker 2: Same people for these services, manicures maybe even, or are
- 25:23Speaker 2: you the kind that doesn't mind trying a new therapist
- 25:26Speaker 2: or a new shop, a new service,
- 25:28Speaker 1: a new place? I'm more of the same hairdresser,
- 25:32Speaker 2: I did try other manicurists before lah, but yeah, I
- 25:36Speaker 2: did betray, yes, I did.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Where was it? Can you not say? Why do you
- 25:40Speaker 2: keep saying it?
- 25:42Speaker 1: If you're tuned in, don't worry,
- 25:44Speaker 1: I'll scold her for you.
- 25:45Speaker 2: No, all of them, it's OK. I don't think they're
- 25:47Speaker 2: tuning in. Stop it, stop it. Call us 669-11987. Let
- 25:52Speaker 2: us know, are you the kind of person that will
- 25:54Speaker 2: have to go back to the same services, the same clinic,
- 25:57Speaker 2: the same manicurist, same hairdresser, or
- 26:00Speaker 2: Are you slightly more adventurous? Let us know.
- 26:03Speaker 1: If we do
- 26:04Speaker 1: like your answer, what's coming your way, a very nice
- 26:06Speaker 1: dining experience brought to you by Dream Weave at Sentosa.
- 26:11Speaker 2: This one, if you've never tried before, please go do it.
- 26:14Speaker 2: This is like the premium version and Korean food. Call
- 26:17Speaker 2: us right now. So based on my story that you
- 26:20Speaker 2: just heard 2-3 minutes ago, are you the kind of
- 26:23Speaker 2: person that will have to go back to the same services,
- 26:26Speaker 2: like the same hairdresser, same manicurist, same doctor?
- 26:29Speaker 2: Dental place, whatever, or do you not mind trying somewhere
- 26:32Speaker 2: new once in a while?
- 26:33Speaker 1: OK, I want to say good morning to Kim on WhatsApp.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Hey Sonia and Joakim, I've gone to the same TCM
- 26:38Speaker 1: for over 10 years. A bad TCM can even make
- 26:41Speaker 1: things worse, so I'm holding on to mine forever. I,
- 26:46Speaker 1: let me know if you need the name of this one.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Sumpa Best. Really? So I replied saying, tell us where.
- 26:52Speaker 1: She hasn't replied yet, but we'll wait for her reply.
- 26:53Speaker 1: I'll let you know where. One coming in from Jay. Hey, Sojo,
- 26:56Speaker 1: I'm like joking. I'll stick to the same GP, dentist,
- 27:00Speaker 1: same hairstylist. I've tried going to others, but it turned
- 27:02Speaker 1: out to damage my hair, so I no longer trust anyone.
- 27:05Speaker 1: I've tried other manicurists other than my standard one in JB.
- 27:09Speaker 1: They cut my flesh instead of my dead skin. So
- 27:12Speaker 1: it's a big no no to me. I'll get.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Anxiety if I have to go to a new place.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Oh
- 27:16Speaker 2: my God. OK, so just a quick story here for
- 27:19Speaker 2: me as well, OK. There was one time, like this
- 27:21Speaker 2: was years and years ago, um, this very kind lady
- 27:27Speaker 2: reached out saying that, you know, um, she's a friend
- 27:29Speaker 2: of a friend and she just opened up like a,
- 27:31Speaker 2: a lash and nail place, OK, and she asked me
- 27:33Speaker 2: to go try. So I said, OK, I'll just support since,
- 27:35Speaker 2: you know, it's a friend of a friend, right? And yeah,
- 27:38Speaker 2: I don't think she's doing, it's years ago already.
- 27:40Speaker 2: And um they wanted to do lashes and nails at
- 27:42Speaker 2: the same time. And you know, I don't usually do lashes.
- 27:45Speaker 2: You see me every day. I don't have extensions or whatever. Yeah,
- 27:48Speaker 2: but um at that point, it was quite trendy to
- 27:51Speaker 2: try like lash perming, so they curl up your lashes.
- 27:54Speaker 2: So I closed my eyes and did it while they
- 27:56Speaker 2: did my nails, OK? And I selected a color already.
- 27:59Speaker 2: But I think the lady got it wrong lah. The,
- 28:02Speaker 2: the problem was my eyes were closed throughout the entire
- 28:04Speaker 2: time that she was doing my nails, and this is
- 28:06Speaker 2: my first time ever going to this shop, right?
- 28:09Speaker 2: When I opened my eyes, the nails were pink. It
- 28:12Speaker 2: was like a completely different. I chose a beige nude.
- 28:15Speaker 2: She gave me pink, and I wanted to pass out
- 28:19Speaker 2: because I don't like pink. Like I'm not a pink girly.
- 28:22Speaker 2: I don't like pink. I can't look at it every day.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Guess what I did, Joe.
- 28:27Speaker 2: That very same day, despite the fact that I was
- 28:30Speaker 2: lying there for 2 hours doing this, I went to
- 28:33Speaker 2: another manicurist to remove it, and that took another 1 hour, OK.
- 28:39Speaker 2: So that was the one time I was like I'm
- 28:40Speaker 2: never trying this like new some new places again.
- 28:45Speaker 1: It's like I do not envy you ladies of being
- 28:49Speaker 1: beautiful and maintaining beauty standard.
- 28:53Speaker 2: I don't do anything to my lashes.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Keep the texts coming in at 669-11987 to us at 90050987.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Again, if you do like your answer, a nice dining
- 29:07Speaker 1: experience to dream gold over at Weave at Resorts World Sentosa.
- 29:11Speaker 1: So we heard a dream over at Mandarin Gallery, but
- 29:14Speaker 1: the one over at Resorts World Sentosa, that's like the premium,
- 29:18Speaker 1: premium version cave dining.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Wow, I love it. We'd love for you to have it.
- 29:22Speaker 2: So call us and let us know. Are you the
- 29:24Speaker 2: kind of person that has to stick to the same
- 29:26Speaker 2: service providers, you know, your manicurists, your hairdress.
- 29:29Speaker 2: your clinics and all that, or do you not mind
- 29:32Speaker 2: trying somewhere new? We're on the topic of loyalty to
- 29:36Speaker 2: the place that you go to for maybe your nails, your,
- 29:38Speaker 2: your dentist, your GP, your wherever, because yesterday, I found
- 29:43Speaker 2: myself in a situation where I did not have the
- 29:45Speaker 2: time to travel down to my usual dentist and I
- 29:47Speaker 2: have had a gum problem for like 2 days.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Before I get to Sue's message on WhatsApp, can I
- 29:52Speaker 1: tell you a story of myself as a 10-year-old kid.
- 29:55Speaker 1: And I remember this because my mom scolded me, OK,
- 29:57Speaker 1: go ahead. So I used to go to the Malaypachi
- 29:59Speaker 1: to cut my hair, the Malay barber, you know,
- 30:01Speaker 2: I'm assuming
- 30:02Speaker 1: $7 uncle number 2, and this one guy does it
- 30:06Speaker 1: very well. No, no, no, as in the hairstyle number 2.
- 30:12Speaker 1: There's 1 and number 2.
- 30:13Speaker 2: I thought you said uncle #2. No,
- 30:15Speaker 1: no, no. So I told Uncle #2, cut my hair
- 30:18Speaker 1: down $7 student cut down. OK. So there was one Sunday,
- 30:23Speaker 1: my hair was a little bit long and bushy and
- 30:25Speaker 1: my mom said, cut hair. So, OK, I went back.
- 30:26Speaker 1: I went to the barber. He wasn't there. Then I
- 30:29Speaker 1: went home.
- 30:31Speaker 2: So what was the explanation to your mom?
- 30:33Speaker 1: No, not them so messy.
- 30:36Speaker 2: So you went back, yeah,
- 30:37Speaker 1: and the uncle that did it that
- 30:39Speaker 1: day
- 30:39Speaker 2: was a terrible job. No, no. I was
- 30:43Speaker 1: 10. I was going through puberty. That's where you found
- 30:46Speaker 1: out like fashion and how you look matters.
- 30:48Speaker 2: You
- 30:48Speaker 1: found out
- 30:48Speaker 2: about fashion,
- 30:49Speaker 1: not how you look hairstyles.
- 30:51Speaker 2: I
- 30:51Speaker 2: thought you were still finding out.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Hello. Why are you laughing? The producers in our studio
- 30:57Speaker 1: laughing also. OK, anyway,
- 30:59Speaker 2: we've got Jeremy on the line right now. Jeremy, go ahead,
- 31:01Speaker 2: tell us, are you that loyal kind of person or
- 31:04Speaker 2: do you not mind trying somewhere new? Yeah,
- 31:06Speaker 1: I will try to go back, you know, usually when
- 31:08Speaker 1: you go to another person of convenience, when you go
- 31:12Speaker 1: back to your original hairdresser, you.
- 31:14Speaker 1: you, where do you cut your hair? How come it's
- 31:16Speaker 1: like that?
- 31:17Speaker 2: They know,
- 31:19Speaker 1: they know. Yeah, so I'm very thankful I've never ever
- 31:21Speaker 1: had that question asked to me.
- 31:23Speaker 2: You never betrayed your hairdresser,
- 31:25Speaker 1: Sonia Chow.
- 31:26Speaker 2: No way, I've never betrayed my hairdresser. Like if I,
- 31:29Speaker 2: I'm talking about like styling, not like haircutting, yeah,
- 31:32Speaker 1: for your manicure.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Can
- 31:34Speaker 1: you stop?
- 31:36Speaker 2: Bad. I'm trying to sweep it under the carpet, OK?
- 31:40Speaker 2: Stop it. OK, more messages coming through right now. The
- 31:43Speaker 2: question for you today is, are you the kind of
- 31:45Speaker 2: person that's very loyal or rather maybe creature of habit? OK.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Between the two of us, I think we know who's
- 31:50Speaker 2: the creature of habit.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Me la. I was waiting for this category to hit
- 31:56Speaker 1: our topic today, Sonia. I want to say good morning
- 31:58Speaker 1: to Daphne. Morning, Sonia and Joakim. I'm definitely sticking to
- 32:03Speaker 1: the same person.
- 32:04Speaker 1: So there was once I had the most painful experience.
- 32:07Speaker 1: I usually do waxing.
- 32:12Speaker 1: OK. Regularly at the big regular chain.
- 32:15Speaker 2: OK, I think I know which one.
- 32:16Speaker 1: And as usual, it can be very difficult to get
- 32:18Speaker 1: an appointment as there was this one I tried to
- 32:20Speaker 1: get at the uh Jurong Point, sorry, get this big
- 32:24Speaker 1: outlet but I couldn't. So I ended up at this
- 32:26Speaker 1: random shop at Jurong Point. So I walked in and
- 32:29Speaker 1: I asked, Do you all do Brazilian waxing? They said, yes.
- 32:31Speaker 1: So I said, OK. They brought me.
- 32:33Speaker 1: In the therapy room and soon a lady walks in
- 32:35Speaker 1: with a roller. It's like a linen roller, and I asked,
- 32:38Speaker 1: Are you waxing me with this? She replies, Yes. I
- 32:41Speaker 1: was quite skeptical, but I still went on. So she
- 32:44Speaker 1: used the machine which rolls out hot hot wax and
- 32:47Speaker 1: started rolling on me to apply the hot wax. Right
- 32:50Speaker 1: after the first application, I told her, it is too hot.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Replied Aya, it's like this one.
- 32:58Speaker 2: That's a typical auntie and
- 32:59Speaker 1: she carried on. Second application, it was hotter.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Oh no, it's like burning.
- 33:04Speaker 1: And this time I raised my voice telling her it
- 33:05Speaker 1: is hot again. She replied, it needs to be hot.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Oh
- 33:09Speaker 1: my
- 33:09Speaker 2: gosh,
- 33:10Speaker 1: yeah, and today the blister scar is still on me.
- 33:13Speaker 1: She had
- 33:13Speaker 2: blisters.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Ouch.
- 33:16Speaker 2: I'm like clenching my butt as we speak, OK, because
- 33:20Speaker 2: that hurts. That sounds like it hurts. I
- 33:22Speaker 1: can only imagine. Ouch. Oh my God, definitely.
- 33:25Speaker 2: I hope you have
- 33:25Speaker 1: fair compensation or whatsoever. This is a bit,
- 33:27Speaker 2: that's the thing, it doesn't sound like she did. She escalated.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Please tell us, continue the story.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Text us.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Definitely, yeah, more of your stories coming up once again.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Again, we still have time for our last few and
- 33:38Speaker 2: the question is, are you the kind of person that
- 33:40Speaker 2: will stick to your standard hairdresser, doctor, um, manicurist, whatever,
- 33:45Speaker 2: or you don't mind trying someone new? Let us know.
- 33:47Speaker 2: This is based off my experience at the dentist yesterday. OK,
- 33:50Speaker 2: we got last time for last few messages and stories
- 33:53Speaker 2: coming through.
- 33:54Speaker 2: The question is, are you the kind of person that
- 33:56Speaker 2: stays very loyal to your service providers, you know, like manicures, hairdressers, clinics, whatever,
- 34:02Speaker 2: or would you try somewhere new in the event that
- 34:04Speaker 2: you really need to?
- 34:05Speaker 1: Wanna say good morning to, once again, my throat.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Please go ahead. OK,
- 34:09Speaker 1: good, good. Wanna say good morning to Andrea. Andrea says, hey,
- 34:13Speaker 1: Sonia and Joakim, hearing this literally made me burst out laughing. No,
- 34:17Speaker 1: I'm someone who
- 34:18Speaker 1: It's quite adventurous, but after a bad salon experience, I
- 34:21Speaker 1: might just stick to my usual. So my usual salon
- 34:24Speaker 1: is very expensive. Many factors that affect the cost, hair length,
- 34:28Speaker 1: hair treatment, or hair dye. Usually I pay around $200
- 34:32Speaker 1: to 550
- 34:34Speaker 1: dollars.
- 34:34Speaker 2: And
- 34:35Speaker 1: this
- 34:35Speaker 2: happens like what, once a month or once every 2 months,
- 34:37Speaker 2: I'm sure, yeah.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Now that my hair is short, I pay lesser. The
- 34:41Speaker 1: bad experience.
- 34:42Speaker 1: in JB. Many friends told me, Hey, JB is very
- 34:45Speaker 1: cheap and very good, but I beg to differ. The
- 34:47Speaker 1: hairstylist made me sit on the chair for 6 hours,
- 34:51Speaker 1: and in the end I had to go back again
- 34:52Speaker 1: because he totally destroyed my
- 34:54Speaker 1: hair.
- 34:54Speaker 2: So she had to fix it basically. So
- 34:56Speaker 1: I
- 34:57Speaker 1: think she sent us a picture of the haircut. So
- 34:59Speaker 1: this is the badly done one, and this is
- 35:02Speaker 1: the one where she does it with the hairstylist.
- 35:03Speaker 2: I see the difference. I see the difference.
- 35:05Speaker 2: It's really a skill, you know, like to be able
- 35:08Speaker 2: to cut a nice shape and everything, especially when it
- 35:10Speaker 2: comes to a bob or pinky cut, yeah. OK, Sue
- 35:13Speaker 2: is on the line. You're the final caller of the day. Sue,
- 35:15Speaker 2: what happens? Uh, so it was just, uh, I would
- 35:18Speaker 2: say slightly less than a week before my wedding, and
- 35:21Speaker 2: I didn't have time to go to my usual hairdressers.
- 35:24Speaker 2: So all I wanted to do was touch up my
- 35:25Speaker 2: roots and I was like, oh, you know, easy job.
- 35:27Speaker 2: I'll just go to somewhere nearby.
- 35:30Speaker 2: Um, I actually picked quite a reputable one, so I
- 35:32Speaker 2: went there and then I was just using my phone.
- 35:35Speaker 2: I didn't really monitor. And right at the end, I
- 35:38Speaker 2: realized that instead of the dark brown color that I wanted,
- 35:41Speaker 2: it turned out orange and they actually had done it
- 35:44Speaker 2: like three-quarters of my head instead of just the roots. What?
- 35:47Speaker 2: How did they make that mistake? I don't know. So
- 35:50Speaker 2: after that they apologized, um, and they said that the
- 35:53Speaker 2: girl was under training.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Oh, that's
- 35:56Speaker 1: the worst.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Did you tell them that it was your wedding in
- 35:59Speaker 2: a week? I mean, I, I did at the start,
- 36:02Speaker 2: but I didn't like fuss over who was going to
- 36:04Speaker 2: do it, and I didn't know who was, you know,
- 36:06Speaker 2: and it shouldn't, it shouldn't make a difference like whether
- 36:08Speaker 2: or not it's a special occasion, they should be giving
- 36:10Speaker 2: you the best care. OK,
- 36:12Speaker 1: so, I'm all for a newbie getting knowledge, right? I
- 36:15Speaker 1: think the salon and any other organizations.
- 36:18Speaker 1: To also understand the situation before they assign a trainee
- 36:21Speaker 1: to
- 36:22Speaker 1: you.
- 36:22Speaker 2: Not just that, I think they have to be responsible.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Like someone more senior has to go step by step
- 36:26Speaker 2: and see if she did the right job, the whole thing.
- 36:29Speaker 2: So then how did you resolve this? A week away
- 36:32Speaker 2: from your wedding? I mean, how do you fix hair
- 36:34Speaker 2: color like that? Well, to give it to them, I mean,
- 36:36Speaker 2: the people who did it wrongly, they did offer to
- 36:38Speaker 2: change it, but I was so horrified.
- 36:40Speaker 2: I wasn't sure they're gonna be able to change it
- 36:42Speaker 2: to the color that I wanted and they couldn't do
- 36:45Speaker 2: it on the spot because I had just, exactly. So
- 36:48Speaker 2: I waited for about 2-3 days, um,
- 36:50Speaker 1: and then
- 36:51Speaker 2: I
- 36:51Speaker 1: did make a trip
- 36:52Speaker 2: down to my regular hairdresser. So lesson learned. Wait, hold on.
- 36:55Speaker 2: So two questions here. One, did that new salon charge
- 36:58Speaker 2: you or they just, you know, they didn't?
- 37:01Speaker 1: They actually
- 37:01Speaker 2: charged me.
- 37:02Speaker 1: They did. They shouldn't
- 37:04Speaker 1: have charged me. Did they refund you at least?
- 37:06Speaker 2: They didn't. They didn't refund. They charged her. Yeah, they
- 37:09Speaker 2: charged me for. And OK. And the second question is,
- 37:11Speaker 2: what did your hairdresser say when you went back?
- 37:15Speaker 1: Your typical
- 37:15Speaker 2: auntie, you know,
- 37:16Speaker 1: yo,
- 37:17Speaker 2: why you
- 37:18Speaker 1: try somewhere new?
- 37:19Speaker 2: Yeah,
- 37:19Speaker 1: exactly. You betray me, betray me.
- 37:23Speaker 1: No, no, no,
- 37:23Speaker 2: that, that's in her group chat with the other auntie friends,
- 37:26Speaker 2: not directly to her. Thank you so much for sharing
- 37:29Speaker 2: because my wedding's coming up soon and that sounds like
- 37:31Speaker 2: a
- 37:31Speaker 2: A bit of a nightmare. Please,
- 37:33Speaker 1: you better be careful.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Yes, you're talking to me, right? I have it under control.
- 37:39Speaker 2: I have it under control. Don't worry, don't worries. Thank
- 37:41Speaker 2: you so much for all your calls and your messages.
- 37:43Speaker 2: It was so very entertaining here this morning. And if
- 37:45Speaker 2: you want to catch up with all of it, it'll
- 37:47Speaker 2: be available on me listen and Spotify after the show.
- 37:50Speaker 2: But only one person can walk away with this beautiful
- 37:53Speaker 2: treat thanks to Dream
- 37:54Speaker 1: Gold. Before we give
- 37:55Speaker 1: it to.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Winner, can I please describe to you the kind of
- 37:58Speaker 1: things you'll be having over there? Premium Korean ingredients like
- 38:03Speaker 1: rare hanwoo beef that's raved about,
- 38:05Speaker 2: by the way.
- 38:06Speaker 1: Jeju black pork. We're talking eel, handcrafted noodles over at
- 38:12Speaker 1: Weave Resorts World Sentosa. It's dream goal.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Yeah, we would love for you to have it. So congratulations, Sue,
- 38:19Speaker 2: you're the winner for today.
- 38:20Speaker 2: A very entertaining story, very relatable as well. We hope
- 38:24Speaker 2: that you enjoy it over there and please take tons
- 38:26Speaker 2: of pictures and tell us whether it's good. I'm sure
- 38:29Speaker 2: it's fantastic.
- 38:29Speaker 1: I just realized the han and how you say dream, it's.
- 38:36Speaker 1: One more time again. No, no,
- 38:40Speaker 2: Can you stop it?
- 38:41Speaker 1: for a trim. I'm going for a trim
- 38:42Speaker 2: my hair.
- 38:43Speaker 2: 2nd of April, um, that's it for your work week actually.
- 38:46Speaker 2: It's a long weekend.
- 38:47Speaker 1: I mean, today
- 38:48Speaker 2: is
- 38:48Speaker 2: a full day, yeah,
- 38:50Speaker 1: not, not, not exactly like a half day for anyone, but,
- 38:52Speaker 1: but
- 38:52Speaker 2: that's about it, yeah, 4 day work week, fantastic. So
- 38:55Speaker 1: yesterday being April Fools, right, I think people were very
- 38:58Speaker 1: careful as to what they consumed on social media, but
- 39:01Speaker 1: what I'm gonna say is this, because I think our
- 39:05Speaker 1: Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
- 39:06Speaker 1: I,
- 39:07Speaker 2: I
- 39:07Speaker 1: saw that.
- 39:08Speaker 2: Yeah,
- 39:09Speaker 1: he, he posted something on his Instagram to which it's
- 39:13Speaker 1: actually legit,
- 39:14Speaker 2: but people thought it was a
- 39:15Speaker 2: joke,
- 39:15Speaker 1: right? Yeah, so it considers our national space.
- 39:20Speaker 2: I don't know what the official name
- 39:21Speaker 2: is.
- 39:22Speaker 1: Hang on, I'm gonna go to his Instagram account right
- 39:23Speaker 1: now and, and, and say congratulations to our National Space Agency.
- 39:30Speaker 2: So he didn't reveal whether it was a joke, right?
- 39:32Speaker 2: It's real. It's real. It
- 39:33Speaker 1: was in
- 39:33Speaker 1: the news last month.
- 39:35Speaker 2: It was, it was a builder. So he's just confirming it.
- 39:37Speaker 2: So again, why did they choose to release
- 39:39Speaker 1: on 1st
- 39:40Speaker 2: April
- 39:41Speaker 1: to
- 39:41Speaker 1: the National Space Agency? Why you pick April 1st is
- 39:44Speaker 1: the reveal, P April 2nd
- 39:45Speaker 2: lah. Maybe they did it for, you know, so that
- 39:47Speaker 2: people will talk more eyeballs.
- 39:49Speaker 1: That's
- 39:49Speaker 2: a good strategy, to be honest.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Yeah. So in his caption, he says the global space
- 39:55Speaker 1: industry is growing rapidly. Singapore may not have launched sites
- 39:58Speaker 1: of vast land, but we have real strengths in specialized areas.
- 40:02Speaker 1: We can be a high value.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Innovation-driven space hub. Focused on satellites, data, high-end manufacturing and services.
- 40:10Speaker 1: That's
- 40:10Speaker 2: really cool. I mean, I saw the picture that he
- 40:12Speaker 1: posted
- 40:13Speaker 2: as well. It looks very out of
- 40:15Speaker 1: this world,
- 40:16Speaker 2: quite literally.
- 40:17Speaker 1: We have our very own project Hail
- 40:18Speaker 2: Mary. Yeah. Hey, I haven't watched it. I'm trying to
- 40:21Speaker 2: watch it this weekend.
- 40:22Speaker 1: I will watch it in IMAX.
- 40:23Speaker 2: I know, I'm gonna try my best. Um, minus 5
- 40:26Speaker 2: minutes before Thomas joins us in the studio. We're gonna
- 40:29Speaker 2: give you some context to why he's here.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Yes, Sonia.
- 40:33Speaker 1: I'm sorry. We just received a text from Thomas
- 40:37Speaker 2: that he's not coming. What?
- 40:40Speaker 2: Is this a prank April Fool's over.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Can I, can I read to you Thomas's message? Yeah,
- 40:46Speaker 1: hi Sonia and Joakim. I'm so, and this came in
- 40:48Speaker 1: about maybe 2 a.m. in the morning yesterday. Hi Sonia
- 40:52Speaker 1: and Joakim, I'm so sorry. I totally forgot I had
- 40:54Speaker 1: a flight this morning. No, yeah, so in, in that notion, I, I, I,
- 41:00Speaker 1: I have, I have actually prepared a special guest to
- 41:03Speaker 1: join us in the studio. We will swap.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Sites in a while, but you must promise me. I
- 41:07Speaker 2: just saw Thomas yesterday. Why could he have forgotten?
- 41:10Speaker 1: Wait, we are live on TikTok, so join us on
- 41:13Speaker 1: TikTok now for the special reveal.
- 41:14Speaker 2: I,
- 41:15Speaker 1: I knew it.
- 41:16Speaker 2: You must just now I already said Jo was acting
- 41:17Speaker 2: suspicious all morning.
- 41:20Speaker 1: You
- 41:20Speaker 1: must promise me that when you see our guest in
- 41:22Speaker 1: the studio, you keep it clean, do not swear. Are
- 41:25Speaker 1: you ready? Can you please bring our retirement replacement guest in?
- 41:29Speaker 2: Who's the
- 41:30Speaker 1: Oh my God, what? Ladies and gentlemen, we have Jeremy Sung,
- 41:34Speaker 1: Sonia's fiance, joining us on the short circuit. Aren't you
- 41:39Speaker 1: at work? When we come back, we're gonna grill Jeremy
- 41:43Speaker 1: and Sonia as a couple live on the short circuit
- 41:47Speaker 1: as a belated April Fool's prank. Full explanation coming our
- 41:51Speaker 1: way in just a while. Sonia, you can press the
- 41:53Speaker 1: button now. I don't press.
- 41:55Speaker 2: You come and impressed you impressed?
- 41:57Speaker 1: OK.
- 41:57Speaker 1: You come and press. I'm kidding. And yes, in a
- 42:02Speaker 1: very interesting turn of events, I'm on the panel side.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Sonia's on the other side, and joining us live on
- 42:09Speaker 1: the show, his very first time on 987 as a
- 42:14Speaker 1: belated April Fool's prank. Say hello to Sonia's fiance, Jeremy Simon.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Hi, hi, everyone. It's nice to be on. First time here. Very,
- 42:26Speaker 1: very interesting, and I'm so happy I got to prank you.
- 42:29Speaker 2: Can you
- 42:30Speaker 2: tell that he's like a finance person? He's the way
- 42:32Speaker 2: he speaks, like hello, hello, everyone, hello.
- 42:35Speaker 1: You can put this man on the stage and I'm
- 42:36Speaker 1: pretty sure he'll deliver a very, very good. Oh my God,
- 42:39Speaker 1: help me. OK, Sonia, first question to you. How are
- 42:41Speaker 1: you feeling right now? Were you expecting this?
- 42:43Speaker 2: No, I
- 42:43Speaker 2: wasn't. I said both of you very good liars, but no, joking,
- 42:47Speaker 2: I could tell something was up.
- 42:49Speaker 2: Like, she was acting really sketchy and suspicious.
- 42:52Speaker 1: OK, firstly, I was a little bit worried whether our
- 42:55Speaker 1: system work, was our TikTok live audio and all that
- 42:58Speaker 1: because I'm, I'm very particular when it comes to things working.
- 43:01Speaker 1: But in terms of the guests, you know, you saw
- 43:03Speaker 1: all along you thought it was Thomas, who's part of
- 43:05Speaker 1: the prank, by
- 43:06Speaker 1: the
- 43:06Speaker 2: way. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, OK, context. We know
- 43:09Speaker 2: Thomas pretty well as well, OK, and uh we just
- 43:12Speaker 2: wanted to have him on. That's
- 43:13Speaker 1: it. OK, so I'm gonna try my best to summarize.
- 43:16Speaker 1: There's loads of questions for Jeremy. This is where you're
- 43:19Speaker 1: going to be very silent on the show. we've heard
- 43:23Speaker 1: so many points of view stories from your side and,
- 43:27Speaker 1: and I think here on 987, give him a, is it? No, no,
- 43:30Speaker 1: given how when you posted the engagement, they were like what,
- 43:33Speaker 1: close to 300, 40K likes in the picture, people are
- 43:35Speaker 1: very invested. Loads of things are being covered in the press.
- 43:38Speaker 1: I thought let's bring it here on 987 as well. Jeremy, firstly,
- 43:41Speaker 1: thank you so much for joining us in the studio.
- 43:44Speaker 2: Today you don't need to work.
- 43:45Speaker 1: No, I am going back to work.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Do people know that you're on TikTok live and live
- 43:49Speaker 2: on air?
- 43:50Speaker 1: You have to leave by 9:45. OK, can. So yeah.
- 43:53Speaker 1: So Jeremy, my, my very first question to you, we've
- 43:56Speaker 1: heard Sonia's POV. Let's throw you back to 8 years
- 43:59Speaker 1: ago on board that cruise. OK, OK, OK. What was
- 44:04Speaker 1: it about our darling Sonia Chuw that caught your eye
- 44:06Speaker 1: and went, hey, let's go talk to her this one.
- 44:11Speaker 1: OK. Keep it, keep it PG.
- 44:13Speaker 2: You know what to do?
- 44:14Speaker 1: You know what to do. I mean, first of all,
- 44:16Speaker 1: when I first saw her, she was standing in front
- 44:18Speaker 1: of me and she was dressed, ah, very attractively, let's
- 44:22Speaker 1: just say. So, I naturally, naturally just had to look, um.
- 44:30Speaker 1: But I guess it was her personality that shone, right? Uh, I,
- 44:36Speaker 1: I just started chatting. I mean, it was I I
- 44:38Speaker 1: didn't expect anything, but I think it was over that weekend, ah,
- 44:42Speaker 1: that I got to know her a bit better where
- 44:44Speaker 1: Um, I was really attracted by her personality, her, her humor,
- 44:48Speaker 1: my
- 44:48Speaker 2: humor, right?
- 44:49Speaker 1: Your
- 44:49Speaker 1: humor. So funny. Both of you all are birds of
- 44:52Speaker 1: a feather. No, but I was gonna say, did, did
- 44:54Speaker 1: you know what she did for a living back then
- 44:56Speaker 1: as like a 987 DJ and a media personality? Oh,
- 44:58Speaker 1: very good question. Just before I got on the cruise,
- 45:02Speaker 1: I actually googled.
- 45:05Speaker 2: Yeah,
- 45:05Speaker 1: I
- 45:05Speaker 1: searched. So, so I had no idea before that.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Hm. But before I I I jumped on a cruise, ah,
- 45:11Speaker 1: I did a quick Google and I had a sense. Yeah. So, I,
- 45:14Speaker 1: I saw her media, ah, social media footprint and presence, right?
- 45:19Speaker 1: Hmm and I had some idea, yeah. So, did, did
- 45:21Speaker 1: that like kind of intimidate you or go like, oh, OK,
- 45:24Speaker 1: very public and, and given how our careers are so different,
- 45:27Speaker 1: very different. Yeah. How how how did you navigate this?
- 45:30Speaker 1: Throughout the last 8 years, because I'm
- 45:32Speaker 2: pretty sure anybody wants my opinion.
- 45:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna offer you very noisy be sing. OK, I
- 45:38Speaker 1: was gonna say because you know in the finance world,
- 45:40Speaker 1: in the corporate world where you come from, and for
- 45:42Speaker 1: us in the media world, it's very different. And do
- 45:45Speaker 1: your clients now like, hey, you're Sonia's fiance, is it?
- 45:49Speaker 1: Does it happen? It does happen. It does happen, I
- 45:52Speaker 1: guess at the start.
- 45:53Speaker 1: Um, I was just going with the flow, you know,
- 45:56Speaker 1: whatever happens happens. Yeah. And then towards the middle, I
- 45:59Speaker 1: realized like, oh, actually, we are pretty serious as a
- 46:03Speaker 1: couple and I had to get used to, used to it. um,
- 46:07Speaker 1: but it was quite easy. Ah, after a while, um.
- 46:12Speaker 1: I'm kind of used to people coming out and saying, hey,
- 46:14Speaker 1: you know, you're Sonny Chow's partner and stuff like that. Uh,
- 46:18Speaker 1: I think it's actually pretty, pretty fun. I get some
- 46:20Speaker 1: free stuff at times.
- 46:25Speaker 2: This guy, this guy happy.
- 46:27Speaker 1: Anything you want to add to the class, Sonia
- 46:28Speaker 2: Chew? He, he actually gets engaged for some of my, uh,
- 46:33Speaker 2: campaigns sometimes, like as a talent. So he's like, wow,
- 46:36Speaker 2: not bad, ah, like, some perks over
- 46:38Speaker 1: here. So in the last 8 years, being Sonny Chew's partner,
- 46:44Speaker 1: how do you survive? Oh, very good. What do you
- 46:47Speaker 1: mean by that?
- 46:48Speaker 1: How do you survive? How are you alive? I told
- 46:52Speaker 1: her recently that as we date, as day by day
- 46:55Speaker 1: goes by, I find like she gets crazier 1% each day.
- 47:00Speaker 2: Germs, this is my show, OK.
- 47:02Speaker 1: I mean noisy. Let the man talk.
- 47:04Speaker 1: Aiyo,
- 47:05Speaker 2: who gave you permission
- 47:06Speaker 2: to
- 47:07Speaker 1: carry on, carry on, Jeremy, but she's very endearing, uh,
- 47:11Speaker 1: and I think we are very similar in values and principles,
- 47:15Speaker 1: so it's actually quite easy to get along.
- 47:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Well,
- 47:18Speaker 1: she, she laughs at my jokes, so, you know, that's
- 47:20Speaker 1: a good thing really.
- 47:22Speaker 1: This
- 47:24Speaker 1: is why,
- 47:25Speaker 1: this is why
- 47:25Speaker 1: we're together. You know what? We're gonna go for a
- 47:28Speaker 1: very quick music break. When we come back, let's grill
- 47:30Speaker 1: Jeremy and Sonia a little bit more here on 987.
- 47:33Speaker 2: Do I finally get to speak after that? No, no,
- 47:35Speaker 1: no, you don't. So for all the time to turn
- 47:37Speaker 1: off my microphone, it feels good doing it to you
- 47:39Speaker 1: here in this context, and yes, I could use some
- 47:42Speaker 1: whiskey right now in front of my
- 47:45Speaker 1: Special guest and my radio co-host. Say hello to Sonia
- 47:49Speaker 1: Chew and we have her fiance, Jeremy Sung in the
- 47:52Speaker 1: studio again.
- 47:55Speaker 2: Hi everyone. I can't believe it's actually his first time
- 47:57Speaker 2: in the studio ever.
- 47:58Speaker 1: It
- 47:59Speaker 1: only took you 8 years to get him on our show.
- 48:01Speaker 2: We're professionals. We don't bring our own personal things into
- 48:03Speaker 2: the
- 48:04Speaker 2: studio.
- 48:04Speaker 1: I think, I think once in a while we are
- 48:06Speaker 1: allowed to, but Jeremy, I must say you are like
- 48:08Speaker 1: an omnipresent presence in our studio. Your name is mentioned
- 48:12Speaker 1: every day.
- 48:13Speaker 2: I think it's because a lot of what
- 48:15Speaker 2: We talk about is inspired by our real lives, right?
- 48:18Speaker 2: So as a result, sometimes he's brought up.
- 48:20Speaker 1: So, Jeremy, we're gonna get to some juicy questions about
- 48:24Speaker 1: both you and Sonia and, and we've heard Sonia answer
- 48:27Speaker 1: these many times, but many times, but I want to
- 48:30Speaker 1: hear it from you. Like, Sonia, keep quiet, your mic
- 48:32Speaker 1: is I'm not saying
- 48:33Speaker 1: anything.
- 48:33Speaker 2: OK. OK.
- 48:36Speaker 1: First thing is, in the in the last 8 years,
- 48:39Speaker 1: what has been your favorite thing about Sonia?
- 48:43Speaker 1: And the thing that maybe you feel needs to improve
- 48:45Speaker 1: a bit. Oh yeah, very good. OK. Favorite thing about Sonia,
- 48:51Speaker 1: she is she has a really good heart. Super caring,
- 48:56Speaker 1: really takes care of people that she, ah, her friends,
- 49:00Speaker 1: her her family, pets, yeah, me.
- 49:04Speaker 1: So, super caring. But on the flip side as well,
- 49:08Speaker 1: the one thing that I cannot wait for this, I
- 49:11Speaker 1: cannot wait. Let's go. That can be improved is also
- 49:15Speaker 1: that caring heart. She goes
- 49:18Speaker 1: Like over and beyond. For example, let's say if we're
- 49:21Speaker 1: eating and then some dude comes to sell her like
- 49:26Speaker 1: key chains.
- 49:27Speaker 1: Uh, $200 waxing car wash promotion package package, right? Yes.
- 49:35Speaker 1: I love how we both agree.
- 49:37Speaker 2: Yes,
- 49:37Speaker 2: you're not wrong.
- 49:39Speaker 1: Vitamins and stuff like she would just buy it all.
- 49:45Speaker 2: Because they told me their story. True,
- 49:48Speaker 1: I understand. And then
- 49:51Speaker 1: I've never seen Sonia so red in my life until
- 49:55Speaker 1: April 2nd, 2026. Now, I think for the next question,
- 49:59Speaker 1: I think Sonia, you're allowed to
- 50:00Speaker 1: answer.
- 50:00Speaker 2: I'm allowed to answer. I'm allowed to speak, OK.
- 50:02Speaker 1: For, for the both of you in the last eight years,
- 50:04Speaker 1: and I think people are also curious to know, so
- 50:06Speaker 1: maybe share as much as you want to share and
- 50:09Speaker 1: whatever private stuff you want to keep private, keep it private.
- 50:12Speaker 1: What has been the most difficult part about navigating this
- 50:16Speaker 1: relationship together?
- 50:17Speaker 2: if you don't mind me saying social media comments can
- 50:18Speaker 2: be wild. Oh yeah,
- 50:18Speaker 2: 100%.
- 50:26Speaker 1: Sonia and I are used to it, but, but for you, Jeremy,
- 50:30Speaker 1: as a person from a different, OK, in terms of
- 50:32Speaker 1: the media industry, like your life was
- 50:35Speaker 1: A bit private back then and now that
- 50:37Speaker 2: his life was peaceful before he met me.
- 50:39Speaker 1: And then now that for someone like you to get
- 50:41Speaker 1: into the spotlight, you know, people are leaving all sorts
- 50:43Speaker 1: of interesting comments on social media, would you say that
- 50:46Speaker 1: was the hardest thing to navigate as a couple or
- 50:48Speaker 1: there were, there were more things that the both of
- 50:51Speaker 1: you needed to talk about first before deciding, OK, I'm
- 50:55Speaker 1: gonna propose to
- 50:56Speaker 1: her very soon.
- 50:57Speaker 2: OK, then he needs to answer that proposal, I guess. Yeah,
- 51:00Speaker 1: well.
- 51:02Speaker 1: Sorry, what was the question again? What was the hardest
- 51:05Speaker 1: thing to navigate as a thing.
- 51:08Speaker 2: OK, to kick it off, I think it's safe to say,
- 51:11Speaker 2: it is definitely a massive difference in lifestyle. Like, you know,
- 51:15Speaker 2: he's super healthy, he's super fit, he exercises all the time.
- 51:19Speaker 2: He likes to sleep early, wake up early, um, whereas
- 51:22Speaker 2: I was quite the opposite when we first met, also
- 51:24Speaker 2: because we were not on the morning show.
- 51:25Speaker 2: At that time. So our schedules were a little bit different, right? Tended,
- 51:28Speaker 2: we tend to stay up late a lot more, and
- 51:31Speaker 2: then it kind of like rolled over into the weekends
- 51:32Speaker 2: where like, I will also go out a lot more.
- 51:34Speaker 2: So I think he was trying to get used to
- 51:37Speaker 2: that and we needed to find a middle ground because
- 51:40Speaker 2: we're both Capricorns, um, but, but
- 51:44Speaker 2: But I'm a chaotic Capricorn, and he's a calm Capricorn.
- 51:47Speaker 2: So we're, you know, we balance each other out, but
- 51:49Speaker 2: we also need to meet in the middle a lot.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Not really. Thank God. OK. Yeah, please give us your answer.
- 51:58Speaker 1: But that's true. I think the lifestyles and the habits, right?
- 52:01Speaker 1: I mean, uh, before this, I think.
- 52:04Speaker 1: Ah, Sonia had more of a late-night lifestyle. Um, she
- 52:08Speaker 1: did go out quite a lot at night. Ah, for me,
- 52:10Speaker 1: I tried to keep up, but I think age caught up.
- 52:14Speaker 1: I've seen those sessions a couple of times, yes. Yeah. So,
- 52:17Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, we've been out a couple of times together, right?
- 52:19Speaker 1: And it's fun, but I can't do that consistently.
- 52:23Speaker 2: So in my life I've got you and then I've
- 52:24Speaker 2: got like, you go back?
- 52:29Speaker 2: You'll be like, OK, I'm ready to go, and it's
- 52:32Speaker 2: like 12 p.m.
- 52:39Speaker 1: you think to yourself, OK, you know what, it's been
- 52:42Speaker 1: Because you you proposed in 2024. So that was maybe
- 52:48Speaker 1: say sort of two years ago. Within that six years
- 52:51Speaker 1: from 2018, 2024, at which point did you go, OK,
- 52:53Speaker 1: you know what, I think we are both ready to
- 52:55Speaker 1: take the next step. Oh no, that's a good question
- 52:59Speaker 1: because
- 53:00Speaker 1: Over the six years, I think no relationship uh is
- 53:03Speaker 1: just purely happy, right? Hmm I mean, there are ups
- 53:06Speaker 1: and downs and I think during the six years, we
- 53:08Speaker 1: managed to find a way to work through a lot
- 53:11Speaker 1: of ah challenges, such as the different lifestyle. So, we
- 53:14Speaker 1: we had several conversations about this, but along the way,
- 53:17Speaker 1: I felt like we both made effort to ah bridge
- 53:22Speaker 1: the gap, on her part, myself as well, try to
- 53:26Speaker 1: be a bit more understanding and I could see this
- 53:28Speaker 1: change over the course of time.
- 53:30Speaker 1: And because I saw that, I was like, wow, this
- 53:32Speaker 1: girl actually really put in effort, right? She she valued
- 53:36Speaker 1: what I what I say. Yeah and and um as
- 53:40Speaker 1: a result, naturally over the course of time, I felt like, wow,
- 53:45Speaker 1: she she's really ah taking care of me, taking care
- 53:48Speaker 1: of the relationship. As a result, it was quite easy
- 53:52Speaker 1: along the way to to realize that, you know, she's
- 53:54Speaker 1: someone that
- 53:55Speaker 1: I want to spend the rest of my life.
- 53:58Speaker 1: Oh, OK. Thank you. I understand you're pressed for time,
- 54:01Speaker 1: so I've got two more questions before I let you
- 54:03Speaker 1: go back to the working world,
- 54:04Speaker 2: right before I get back to my job. Yes, yes,
- 54:06Speaker 1: yeah, OK, you relax for a while. My next question, and,
- 54:10Speaker 1: and I kind of know the answer to this already,
- 54:12Speaker 1: but I want to hear it from you because I
- 54:14Speaker 1: hear it from Sonia a lot. OK, OK.
- 54:17Speaker 1: Was there any point in time in your relationship where
- 54:21Speaker 1: the friendship that I have with Sonia became an issue?
- 54:25Speaker 1: Because we we've had, we've had ex-boyfriends. I have
- 54:28Speaker 2: to be here for this awkward.
- 54:30Speaker 1: We've had ex-boyfriends of Sonia who was really unhappy that
- 54:34Speaker 1: we were close friends, and I had to always say,
- 54:36Speaker 1: but there's really nothing going on between us. Yes, we
- 54:40Speaker 1: had that one outing that's been made fun of so
- 54:43Speaker 1: long ago in 2010, which we now laugh about it.
- 54:46Speaker 1: We joke about it too. So I can only hope
- 54:48Speaker 1: for the honest uncut honest Jeremy answer from you. Was
- 54:52Speaker 1: it ever an issue, the friendship that Sonia and I had?
- 54:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, to be honest, when I first started
- 54:58Speaker 1: dating Sonia, I had to get used to a lot
- 55:00Speaker 1: of things. Yeah, um, the media attention that she got, um,
- 55:05Speaker 1: all the good-looking people surrounding her all the time. Jeremy,
- 55:11Speaker 1: your glasses to improve the degree lah, you know, getting, uh,
- 55:16Speaker 1: hosted at, you know, very luxurious media events, um.
- 55:22Speaker 1: A close relation, working relationship with you. So, all, all
- 55:26Speaker 1: these things all came with her and I actually had
- 55:30Speaker 1: a conversation with some of my ah buddies about it.
- 55:33Speaker 1: I said, hey, you know, this, some of these things
- 55:35Speaker 1: make me feel uncomfortable.
- 55:37Speaker 1: And they said that, look, if you like her for
- 55:41Speaker 1: who she is, she comes with the pack, she's the package,
- 55:45Speaker 1: she comes with this, right? Yeah. So, then you have
- 55:47Speaker 1: to ah accept, you have to understand, and I think
- 55:50Speaker 1: we've had several conversations early on in the relationship. Um,
- 55:54Speaker 1: I did ask questions just so that I could feel
- 55:56Speaker 1: comfortable and I think on Sonia's part, she made, ah,
- 55:59Speaker 1: she did a lot of reassurance and I think that
- 56:02Speaker 1: really helped. That form an understanding.
- 56:06Speaker 1: And a good level of trust. Did it also help
- 56:09Speaker 1: that I met you very early on in the relationship
- 56:11Speaker 1: and we we had we had this connection because can
- 56:14Speaker 1: I be honest with you, and I think you know
- 56:16Speaker 1: the very first time I met Jeremy when Sonia introduced
- 56:18Speaker 1: me to her when
- 56:19Speaker 2: you remember? 2018. Like in what setting did we meet?
- 56:23Speaker 1: He came to
- 56:23Speaker 1: pick you up in the office, and I remember filming
- 56:26Speaker 1: a very bad joke with you.
- 56:28Speaker 2: Like a dad joke vibe and then he arrived he arrived.
- 56:31Speaker 1: So we, we had a small interaction, right? And the
- 56:33Speaker 1: very next thing I texted her was, Yo, this guy's
- 56:35Speaker 1: for you, lah. How would you know that by the, no,
- 56:38Speaker 1: by the, by the persona, by the, by the charisma,
- 56:40Speaker 1: by the energy and I kind of just know that
- 56:44Speaker 1: this guy is for you, he can kind of grasp.
- 56:47Speaker 1: in a very good way. True, true,
- 56:48Speaker 2: true. In fact, I just want to give a big
- 56:50Speaker 2: shout out to everyone leaving really nice comments. In fact,
- 56:53Speaker 2: there are more nice comments for Germ than for either
- 56:56Speaker 2: one of us. So I think there's a fan club
- 56:57Speaker 2: for him right now.
- 56:58Speaker 1: Yeah,
- 57:00Speaker 2: some people say we're so handsome, so poised, so confident. Hey,
- 57:04Speaker 2: you look like Donnie Yen.
- 57:06Speaker 1: OK. Uh, my, my last question, if you could share.
- 57:09Speaker 1: Tell us more on what's gonna happen on wedding day
- 57:11Speaker 1: slash wedding night, if you can.
- 57:13Speaker 2: Wedding night cannot share what's gonna happen. OK,
- 57:15Speaker 1: fine, fine,
- 57:16Speaker 1: fine.
- 57:17Speaker 1: 00.
- 57:20Speaker 2: Dinner, dinner, dinner, dinner, dinner lah. What else is happening?
- 57:23Speaker 2: Wedding
- 57:28Speaker 1: party after party. I realized that for the wedding wedding.
- 57:29Speaker 2: No, actually it's gonna be a really chill intimate one.
- 57:32Speaker 2: So for dinner it's gonna be mainly family and very
- 57:34Speaker 2: close friends which you are hosting, so you better block
- 57:36Speaker 2: your calendar.
- 57:37Speaker 2: It's done done already OK. He blocked it before I
- 57:40Speaker 2: even told him that he was hosting. And, and we
- 57:43Speaker 2: will have a church ceremony as well. So then, you know,
- 57:45Speaker 2: plenty of lovely people are invited for that too. Um,
- 57:48Speaker 2: I am very excited for the lunch buffet and the,
- 57:52Speaker 2: the supper live station.
- 57:54Speaker 2: Which we are getting by the way, just FYI I
- 57:57Speaker 2: decided I.
- 57:58Speaker 1: Jeremy, is this news to you or did you know
- 57:59Speaker 1: about this already? Yeah, we spoke about it. OK.
- 58:01Speaker 2: I had to convince him to allow me to have
- 58:03Speaker 2: the I at the end of the night. And to
- 58:04Speaker 2: wrap
- 58:06Speaker 1: up this, I want to make it official here on 987.
- 58:08Speaker 1: Should the both of y'all have
- 58:10Speaker 1: a kid?
- 58:11Speaker 2: Oh my God, here we go. Let me, let me guess,
- 58:13Speaker 2: you wanna be the godfather. Yeah,
- 58:15Speaker 1: I, I knew it. Can I have it on video
- 58:18Speaker 1: that there's an agreement that I'll be the godfather?
- 58:21Speaker 2: In written agreement,
- 58:23Speaker 1: no agreement, which is, you know, verbal
- 58:25Speaker 2: and can always delete the footage.
- 58:29Speaker 1: No, you, you might say I need Jeremy's approval.
- 58:33Speaker 1: Wow, that's putting me right now. If you say you'll
- 58:38Speaker 1: think about it, I'll accept it because it's of course
- 58:40Speaker 1: a mutual thing for the both of you. I don't
- 58:43Speaker 1: even know if we will have kids, that's something to
- 58:46Speaker 1: think about. OK,
- 58:48Speaker 2: we go. So even if it's a dog, which we
- 58:50Speaker 2: consider to be a kid, you can be the father.
- 58:52Speaker 1: I'll be the
- 58:53Speaker 2: godparent dog father. Yes, OK.
- 58:56Speaker 1: You know what, Jeremy, thank you so much for joining
- 58:58Speaker 1: us here on 987. It's so great to finally have
- 59:00Speaker 1: you on the show. That was fun. That was fun.
- 59:02Speaker 1: And to everyone on TikTok and people who are tuned in,
- 59:04Speaker 1: listening and smiling along, hopefully we gave you something to
- 59:07Speaker 1: smile about this long weekend holiday. Big
- 59:09Speaker 2: shout out to the Grab driver who stopped his car
- 59:11Speaker 2: to watch the live.
- 59:14Speaker 1: So cute. Anyway, we'll come back 987. Stay with us.
- 59:17Speaker 1: Just
- 59:18Speaker 2: coming off.
- 59:19Speaker 2: A hilarious past what? 20 minutes? No,
- 59:21Speaker 1: I would say maybe 40 minutes or so. 40 minutes,
- 59:25Speaker 2: my God. We we even given permission for this podcast?
- 59:27Speaker 1: Yes, I mean, I did, I did ask boss Janice
- 59:29Speaker 1: and she approved it.
- 59:30Speaker 2: Who's here in the studio
- 59:31Speaker 1: now? Everybody you see in the studio except for Thomas,
- 59:35Speaker 1: who's overseas right now. So he's
- 59:36Speaker 2: legit not even in Singapore. Yeah, so I,
- 59:38Speaker 1: I kept the surprise very small. I didn't want.
- 59:41Speaker 1: The whole world to
- 59:42Speaker 2: know. So only a couple of them knew about it. OK, OK.
- 59:45Speaker 2: So I,
- 59:45Speaker 1: I picked those that I, that I feel that can
- 59:47Speaker 1: shut up and not anything. Uh-huh. Well, nobody purchase anything. Good.
- 59:53Speaker 2: And clearly germs didn't tell me anything as well. He
- 59:55Speaker 2: didn't say something stupid like see you tomorrow morning or
- 59:58Speaker 2: didn't say anything.
- 59:59Speaker 1: So this is the second secret that Jeremy has kept
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: with me. What was the first?
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: What was the first one that
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: I was seeing someone like trying to dating someone. 00,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: yeah,
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: how can you not tell me that.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: How dare he, right? He's supposed to tell me everything.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: So, so when I was celebrating their engagement two years
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: ago at Sushi Samba, you told me when you went
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: to the restroom, then Jeremy was like, So Jokim, how's
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: your love life? I said, actually don't tell Sonia, but
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: I'm kind of seeing someone, but I'm sick and tired
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: of telling Sonia that I have so many failed prospects. No, don't.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: I want this to work, then I'll tell her.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: So he said, you dabbed on it and you said
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: don't tell her, and he really didn't tell me. I'm
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: actually offended.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: But in the end didn't work, nothing changed. It's all gone.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: No, don't say that. Who knows? Maybe at my wedding
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: you'll find someone. Like, you know how
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: people
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: meet at weddings. I've met, I've met all your friends. OK,
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: that's true.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: If anything were to have happened, it would
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: have happened already. But have
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: you met my aunties?
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: Oh wow.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Wow, we went there. Wow, just kidding. Catholic boy, I'm here.
