- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up
- 0:05Speaker 1: Up next.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Good morning. Welcome to
- 0:13Speaker 1: the show, and I'm wondering if you feel lost in
- 0:16Speaker 1: life now that World Cup season is over. It's OK.
- 0:18Speaker 1: It's my last day as a 37-year-old. 0 yeah, that's true.
- 0:22Speaker 1: So I'm not too sure how to feel today. Uh,
- 0:25Speaker 1: it's I think you'll feel good. You'll be fine. Singapore's
- 0:27Speaker 1: number one hit music station.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Joakim's run off to get some breakfast from the vending
- 0:34Speaker 1: machine as usual. Not sure what he's gonna come back with,
- 0:37Speaker 1: but giving a big shout out to Lisa and lots
- 0:40Speaker 1: of love. Um, I think there's been a lot of
- 0:42Speaker 1: scrutiny on her open inverted commas, new nose recently. Like
- 0:47Speaker 1: a lot of people have been drawing attention to it
- 0:48Speaker 1: on social media and um there were even speculations that
- 0:52Speaker 1: she's been getting quite insecure about it. I honestly, I
- 0:56Speaker 1: could not tell. Like I could not tell that she
- 0:59Speaker 1: did anything to her nose.
- 1:01Speaker 1: I mean, I thought her initial nose was already nice
- 1:04Speaker 1: and um I know a lot of her fans are
- 1:06Speaker 1: also coming to her defense towards people who have been
- 1:10Speaker 1: slamming her new nose, saying like, hey, you know what,
- 1:13Speaker 1: this is, this is just part of her life, like,
- 1:16Speaker 1: like tons of people who are, you know, in this
- 1:18Speaker 1: line of work, they get plastic surgery done and she
- 1:21Speaker 1: looks great. So I'm like, OK, I'm, I'm glad that
- 1:24Speaker 1: people are standing up for her, but at the same time,
- 1:26Speaker 1: I'm not sure how she might feel about it because
- 1:29Speaker 1: when your face is out there for scrutiny up for
- 1:31Speaker 1: scrutiny like this all the time, right? Like, it could be,
- 1:34Speaker 1: it could be tough on her. So sending her some love, um,
- 1:37Speaker 1: we still love her here on 987 regardless of whatever
- 1:41Speaker 1: you choose to do as long as you feel good
- 1:42Speaker 1: about it, you know. We've got some Harvey, you know
- 1:45Speaker 1: why very limited.
- 1:47Speaker 1: That's why, as always, I mean for Sonia and I,
- 1:51Speaker 1: when we go to the same vending machine, we'll always pray,
- 1:54Speaker 1: let there be something new. Yeah, sometimes, sometimes I just,
- 1:59Speaker 1: I don't even think about it that way. I just
- 2:01Speaker 1: go up and be like there is something new.
- 2:04Speaker 1: But guess what, it's always doesn't work. It's some weird
- 2:07Speaker 1: flavor or something we don't really want, or rather we
- 2:11Speaker 1: try it and then we go back to what we
- 2:13Speaker 1: used to order, right? The sandwich company being experimental with
- 2:16Speaker 1: their flavoring. So if you're tuning in now, maybe this
- 2:19Speaker 1: is some food for thought for you. Are you the
- 2:21Speaker 1: kind of person that orders the same breakfast every morning
- 2:24Speaker 1: or the same, you can eat the same breakfast and
- 2:26Speaker 1: have the same thing, or are you adventurous?
- 2:29Speaker 1: I mean if I like my turkey, ham and cheese,
- 2:31Speaker 1: keep it there. Don't give me some potato salad with
- 2:34Speaker 1: chicken breast. I mean they don't flavor. They don't replace it,
- 2:36Speaker 1: they just add on because you see people like us
- 2:39Speaker 1: no options. I know. Then when they give us options,
- 2:41Speaker 1: we're like, but the option is not nice. It's the
- 2:43Speaker 1: bears can't be choosers. I know, I know, and, and
- 2:46Speaker 1: it's also the kind of thing where like if you're
- 2:48Speaker 1: a creature of habit, which I think you are, and
- 2:51Speaker 1: to some extent I can be a creature of habit.
- 2:53Speaker 1: with certain orders, um, you know that your, your day
- 2:57Speaker 1: doesn't doesn't feel right when you eat something that's not
- 3:00Speaker 1: to your liking. Yeah. Do you feel that way because
- 3:02Speaker 1: I feel that way. I, I agree. I totally feel
- 3:05Speaker 1: that way. You, you and I are almost the same person,
- 3:07Speaker 1: very few differences. Strap yourselves in though, because when we
- 3:11Speaker 1: come back, some amazing things await you. How about winning
- 3:14Speaker 1: for yourself NDP preview two tickets and let's break down.
- 3:19Speaker 1: The Marvel Avengers Doomsday trailer that was released yesterday, you know,
- 3:24Speaker 1: I haven't even watched it. OK, I'll watch it now.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Watch it. I'll watch it now before we talk about it.
- 3:28Speaker 1: There is one part where you go, Oh, really? Yes, yeah,
- 3:31Speaker 1: I kid you not. It's a bit early for that,
- 3:32Speaker 1: but you still do that. Thank you. It doesn't sound
- 3:39Speaker 1: as cool when you do it, Joe. I mean.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I'm trying to figure out what she's saying. It doesn't matter.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I think, you know, when it comes to good music,
- 3:47Speaker 1: she's counting down to her 20th anniversary of B-Day, if
- 3:52Speaker 1: I'm not wrong, and she's gonna release like a special
- 3:55Speaker 1: reissued version.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Of that since the year 2006, as most artists do
- 4:02Speaker 1: when they hit 1020 or even 50th anniversary she's had
- 4:06Speaker 1: a great run. She's had a fantastic career her whole life.
- 4:09Speaker 1: So congratulations to Beyonce again whenever we play this song,
- 4:12Speaker 1: I say this, if Beyonce is back with new music, Rihanna,
- 4:17Speaker 1: she announced that she's back in the studio. OK, if
- 4:19Speaker 1: I'm not wrong, I saw a post and so everyone's like, OK,
- 4:22Speaker 1: we are waiting, we are waiting.
- 4:24Speaker 1: In a very Singaporean way, after donkey years, she's back
- 4:27Speaker 1: in the studio. I know, but you know what, for Rihanna, right,
- 4:30Speaker 1: she's unapologetic about it. She's like, OK guys, you know what, yeah,
- 4:33Speaker 1: over the past, what, how many years has it been 10? No,
- 4:36Speaker 1: almost 10 since, uh, since her previous album, Was it?
- 4:41Speaker 1: Could be 10 years, right? Her last single, if I'm
- 4:45Speaker 1: not wrong, Black Panther 2, Lift Me Up. Uh, yes,
- 4:52Speaker 1: I think so. I think so, but that was just
- 4:53Speaker 1: a standalone, right, if I'm not wrong. But anyway, um,
- 4:56Speaker 1: she did announce that she's back in the studio and look,
- 4:58Speaker 1: she's been busy building how many businesses over the past
- 5:01Speaker 1: few years aside from Fenty and the collab with Puma.
- 5:05Speaker 1: She has, right? Yeah, no, she, she also has a
- 5:07Speaker 1: lingerie brand. Oh wow, yeah, she has a lingerie brand.
- 5:10Speaker 1: What's it called again? Was it Robin? Uh, no, I
- 5:13Speaker 1: actually think it's just, it's Fenty something as well. Savage
- 5:16Speaker 1: Savage by Fenty. There we go, if I'm not wrong. OK.
- 5:20Speaker 1: And by the way, speaking of brand launches and all
- 5:23Speaker 1: that with celebrities, ah, somebody's Instagram teasing, is it a
- 5:26Speaker 1: makeup collection, so seductive.
- 5:30Speaker 1: What are you talking about? I saw this yesterday. It's
- 5:32Speaker 1: not a collab. I'm just doing something for a brand.
- 5:35Speaker 1: What are you talking about? I launch something we can
- 5:37Speaker 1: all celebrate. Why you need some new foundation. Why not?
- 5:42Speaker 2: Hi, good morning. This is
- 5:44Speaker 1: Grace. Hello, Grace. Good morning. Who are you with right
- 5:47Speaker 1: now and where are you off to?
- 5:49Speaker 2: I'm
- 5:49Speaker 2: I'm alone and I'm going to work. I'm actually a teacher.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Oh
- 5:53Speaker 2: nice.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Which school would that be?
- 5:55Speaker 2: I'm at Ping
- 5:56Speaker 1: Ching School. And what do you teach, Grace?
- 5:57Speaker 2: I teach PE.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Nice. OK, well, the one subject that I was always
- 6:02Speaker 1: dreading back in school. It's my favorite. So Grace, hey, look,
- 6:06Speaker 1: I'm on your side. I'm on your side, Miss Grace. OK, well,
- 6:09Speaker 1: tell me, tell us, who would you bring with you
- 6:12Speaker 1: for NDP?
- 6:13Speaker 1: You too and, and why are you looking forward to
- 6:16Speaker 1: it so much? Actually,
- 6:17Speaker 2: I've been there
- 6:18Speaker 2: like just a few weeks ago with my students, but
- 6:20Speaker 2: my daughter really, really, really wants to go and I
- 6:23Speaker 2: think it's gonna be really memorable for her. So I
- 6:26Speaker 2: would love to bring her and my family and my husband. Yeah,
- 6:28Speaker 2: actually
- 6:29Speaker 2: it's just one ticket,
- 6:30Speaker 1: right? It's it's a pair, it's a pair. Yes,
- 6:32Speaker 2: so me and my daughter, yes.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Great. OK, well, we hope to see you there and
- 6:38Speaker 1: uh I guess there's nothing left to say aside from congratulations.
- 6:44Speaker 1: So given how she was there for NE1, now she's
- 6:47Speaker 1: going for preview two. Grace, see if you can spot
- 6:50Speaker 1: the differences, OK.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Yes, I will. Thank you very much. Have a fantastic day. OK,
- 6:56Speaker 1: I think inspired by whatever happened in Canada, Mexico, and
- 7:01Speaker 1: USA the last 5 weeks or so, also known as
- 7:03Speaker 1: the World Cup, the World Cup done and dusted in
- 7:05Speaker 1: the US, Canada, and Mexico. Congratulations to all three countries
- 7:09Speaker 1: for what I think was a successfully staged World Cup.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Was it really true?
- 7:13Speaker 1: that some teams like uh like the Norwegian team actually
- 7:17Speaker 1: flew in their own food. Yeah, it's true, is it?
- 7:20Speaker 1: It's not just an AI post that I saw. I mean,
- 7:23Speaker 1: if your country and the Football Association can afford it,
- 7:26Speaker 1: you definitely want to make sure you keep your players
- 7:28Speaker 1: used to the kind of diet, OK, OK, you know,
- 7:32Speaker 1: as compared to what processed food that they might find left,
- 7:34Speaker 1: right and center.
- 7:36Speaker 1: And then of course there's some controversy about the Iran
- 7:39Speaker 1: national team and all that which I won't touch, but
- 7:41Speaker 1: this has inspired some countries to think, hey, maybe we
- 7:44Speaker 1: should host the World Cup one day. And this is
- 7:47Speaker 1: what exactly the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia has said.
- 7:51Speaker 1: He hopes to see Malaysia host the World Cup one day,
- 7:54Speaker 1: and you know what, you might chuckle.
- 7:56Speaker 1: go really, man. By the way, can I just share
- 7:58Speaker 1: with you, Malaysia, they have a lot of stadiums in
- 8:02Speaker 1: different states and massive ones, right? Can I name you
- 8:05Speaker 1: a few? The National stadium over at Kuala Lumpur can
- 8:08Speaker 1: fit 87,000+ people. The Shah Alamm Stadium at Selego can
- 8:13Speaker 1: fit about 80,000+. The
- 8:16Speaker 1: Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Tanganu can fit about
- 8:20Speaker 1: 50,000 and the Perak Stadium can fit about 47,000 people.
- 8:25Speaker 1: So many options. Yeah, exactly. Actually, has the World Cup
- 8:28Speaker 1: ever been staged in Southeast Asia? Not Southeast Asia, but Asia. OK, Asia,
- 8:33Speaker 1: but Korea, Japan, not specifically closer to us.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Wow, how cool would it be? I mean, if, let's
- 8:39Speaker 1: say we did like a, you know, since the recent
- 8:42Speaker 1: World Cup, they split it across several countries, right? Then
- 8:45Speaker 1: they do Malaysia, Singapore, and I don't know, like Thailand
- 8:48Speaker 1: or something, like in this region in Southeast Asia. That
- 8:52Speaker 1: would be quite cool, right? I mean, Thailand is, is
- 8:55Speaker 1: playing host to a lot of huge.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Music festivals, Tomorrowland being one of them at the end
- 8:59Speaker 1: of the year. So I'm sure they have some sort of,
- 9:01Speaker 1: I don't know, stadium or capability. Yeah, so for Thailand
- 9:05Speaker 1: they have the gala Stadium in Bangkok, which can fit
- 9:09Speaker 1: about 50,000 people. So if Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand or maybe
- 9:14Speaker 1: Indonesia combine to host it.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Depends on who the main country is. I, I don't
- 9:19Speaker 1: think it'll be Singapore because we only have that one
- 9:22Speaker 1: national stadium. So, so maybe for Singapore we can host
- 9:25Speaker 1: one of the games or two, the group stages, the
- 9:28Speaker 1: knockout rounds, and at least maybe say the third place final. OK, yeah,
- 9:32Speaker 1: and then Malaysia can host the rest and Indonesia and Thailand. But, uh,
- 9:37Speaker 1: one thing's for sure, I am quite certain that the
- 9:40Speaker 1: players will not be a fan of the humidity here.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Like how, how will they?
- 9:45Speaker 1: Train for this level of humidity. I mean, in the hydration, right? Yeah,
- 9:51Speaker 1: but it's heat that is dry heat, you know, so
- 9:54Speaker 1: the humid type of heat, I don't know whether that's
- 9:56Speaker 1: better or worse. Maybe here in Singapore and Malaysia, they
- 9:58Speaker 1: will stop every 15 minutes, but I'm gonna say this,
- 10:01Speaker 1: I want to see Malaysia do it. I support them,
- 10:04Speaker 1: but you have to improve the road infrastructure and make
- 10:06Speaker 1: sure that fans won't find it difficult to get from
- 10:09Speaker 1: one place to another. Anyway, if that is their goal.
- 10:13Speaker 1: It won't happen like the next round, obviously. I'm sure
- 10:15Speaker 1: they already secured the next location. They have, did they
- 10:18Speaker 1: announce it yet or not yet? So for the next
- 10:20Speaker 1: World Cup, it will be staged in Spain, Morocco and Portugal. Yeah,
- 10:24Speaker 1: which is why we were saying some of the players
- 10:26Speaker 1: might want to actually extend and go back to play
- 10:29Speaker 1: in their home ground, right? Maybe Ronaldo, we'll see. But yeah,
- 10:32Speaker 1: clearly it's not going to be so soon. Maybe it
- 10:34Speaker 1: could be like a 20 year plan or something for Malaysia.
- 10:37Speaker 1: It's not gonna be overnight. I want to see it
- 10:39Speaker 1: happen in my lifetime.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Yes, I hope so. Singapore make it to the World Cup, right?
- 10:45Speaker 1: I know, I know we've been waiting. OK, got a
- 10:48Speaker 1: question for you, Joel. In an alternate universe, OK, alternate universe,
- 10:52Speaker 1: you're a criminal. OK.
- 10:55Speaker 1: You're a bad guy. You're a villain, you're a villain, OK. No, no,
- 10:59Speaker 1: I say in a in another dimension, another universe. Why
- 11:02Speaker 1: can't I be a billionaire? another dimension. Could we get
- 11:06Speaker 1: billionaire technically, you know, yeah, yeah. Exactly. So if you
- 11:13Speaker 1: were and you had to steal a diamond that is
- 11:18Speaker 1: worth 200,000 Singapore dollars, how would you do it?
- 11:23Speaker 1: How would you do it? Ocean's the whole thing. OK, Ocean, OK,
- 11:27Speaker 1: that's very complex. Just in a brief sentence, explain how
- 11:30Speaker 1: you would do it. You got to hire.
- 11:32Speaker 1: The conman, the driver, someone to fence it. How would
- 11:37Speaker 1: you hide it? How would you remove it from the scene? Exactly.
- 11:40Speaker 1: So we must have that ocean's 11 meeting, the diamond,
- 11:45Speaker 1: the fake one, and then whoever sells it we are
- 11:47Speaker 1: going to find someone to split the proceeds and.
- 11:50Speaker 1: OK, OK. Well, coming up in just a few minutes,
- 11:53Speaker 1: I'll tell you about how this pair of people attempted
- 11:58Speaker 1: to steal a $200,000 diamond in Singapore, in our country,
- 12:02Speaker 1: in Singapore. Why, why even bother? That's my point. Why
- 12:07Speaker 1: even bother?
- 12:08Speaker 1: But when you find out how they tried to do it,
- 12:10Speaker 1: you're gonna facepalm. There was no Ocean's 11 sting operation
- 12:15Speaker 1: going on. OK, right here joining us. We played it
- 12:18Speaker 1: here on the show about time. Yeah, no, following the
- 12:21Speaker 1: journey on this has been super fun. I, I really
- 12:23Speaker 1: enjoy watching her content. And look, by the way, and
- 12:26Speaker 1: I are doing our.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Best to bring in Jasmine Soko and maybe even Drew
- 12:29Speaker 1: Chen and Gareth Fernandez to give us a very special
- 12:32Speaker 1: acoustic performance of their respective songs. You'll Be OK and Sparkle. Yeah,
- 12:37Speaker 1: so all the OGs coming to the studio. Why not? Anyway,
- 12:44Speaker 1: it's time for Crime Crime Crime.
- 12:46Speaker 1: So this took place here in Singapore involving a diamond where, um, Chinatown. OK. Yeah.
- 12:51Speaker 1: What's the cheeky streets of Chinatown. Scared me for a while,
- 12:55Speaker 1: by the way, when you say che cheeky, cheeky cheeky.
- 12:59Speaker 1: I mean, OK, here's why, OK, and you're just going
- 13:01Speaker 1: to face palm and laugh when you hear this and
- 13:04Speaker 1: why I I called it cheeky, OK. OK, let's go.
- 13:07Speaker 1: So early on I asked you in an alternate universe
- 13:10Speaker 1: and in another life, if you were a criminal, how
- 13:12Speaker 1: would you, um, Ocean's E1leven your way out?
- 13:15Speaker 1: Of, uh, maybe a highly secure place where you're trying
- 13:19Speaker 1: to steal a $200,000 diamond. I mean, you got to
- 13:23Speaker 1: do what they do, get the blueprint of the place,
- 13:26Speaker 1: the layouts, monitor the guards. Yeah, but if you do that,
- 13:29Speaker 1: I don't think a $200,000 diamond is worth it. I mean,
- 13:33Speaker 1: the Ocean's 11 movie or Ocean's or whatever the heist movies,
- 13:36Speaker 1: they do it for the millions, right? Not, not for
- 13:38Speaker 1: $200,000 not worth it. I'll do it for $2 million. Oh, OK, OK.
- 13:43Speaker 1: You say now on national radio, you said it.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Anyway, this tourist, um, who's in his 40s, I believe,
- 13:51Speaker 1: a tourist, yeah, was walking around Chinatown area, OK? And
- 13:55Speaker 1: they're walking around, you know, there's quite a lot of
- 13:57Speaker 1: those jewelry stores and gem and jewel related stores in Chinatown.
- 14:02Speaker 1: But are they the legit ones? Legit. Apparently some are legit.
- 14:05Speaker 1: I think some may be a bit more like costume
- 14:07Speaker 1: jewelry stuff, but I don't know. I haven't really explored,
- 14:10Speaker 1: but what I do know is that in the Chinatown area,
- 14:13Speaker 1: you can get a lot of precious stones, gems, crystals,
- 14:17Speaker 1: things like that. They do sell it at the wholesalers and,
- 14:19Speaker 1: you know, the, the official retailers, right? So perhaps that's
- 14:24Speaker 1: where some people may go as well.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Um, for this pair of tourists who arrived in Singapore
- 14:28Speaker 1: on the 19th of June, they visited this store and
- 14:31Speaker 1: they had planned to steal this diamond. So allegedly they
- 14:35Speaker 1: knew about it, but um, it hasn't been revealed how
- 14:38Speaker 1: they even got to know about this diamond. I didn't
- 14:40Speaker 1: even know that.
- 14:41Speaker 1: You walk into a random Chinatown store, you can find
- 14:43Speaker 1: a $200,000 diamond. I didn't know that. Just sitting there
- 14:47Speaker 1: doing nothing. So I think it's still being investigated about
- 14:49Speaker 1: how they knew about the diamond. My gut feeling is
- 14:52Speaker 1: that perhaps someone gave some insider information. That or someone
- 14:57Speaker 1: did their research.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Maybe they're monitoring this store for quite a while already.
- 15:01Speaker 1: So just like what you said earlier, right, um, what
- 15:03Speaker 1: you would do, you said, is to scan the whole place,
- 15:06Speaker 1: do the research, and then have counterfeit diamond all that.
- 15:08Speaker 1: They also did the same thing. They commissioned a counterfeit
- 15:11Speaker 1: diamond in India that matched the specifications and even the
- 15:14Speaker 1: serial number.
- 15:16Speaker 1: So this just goes to show confirm got some insider
- 15:18Speaker 1: information somewhere. Ocean's Wait, wait, wait till you hear how
- 15:22Speaker 1: they tried to escape. OK. OK. So what happened was, um,
- 15:26Speaker 1: they actually hid the fake diamond while the other guy
- 15:29Speaker 1: tried to like, oh, let's view another diamond, you know, like,
- 15:32Speaker 1: you know, distraction technique, right? Oh, let me view it
- 15:34Speaker 1: kind of thing.
- 15:35Speaker 1: So I think the sales manager had to leave his
- 15:37Speaker 1: seat multiple times because of their constant requests to view
- 15:41Speaker 1: other gems and diamonds. So then what happened was they
- 15:45Speaker 1: immediately took out the fake diamond and hid the real
- 15:48Speaker 1: one in his mouth. So he put the real diamond
- 15:50Speaker 1: in his mouth and tried to leave, OK.
- 15:54Speaker 1: They left the store after his partner in crime said, oh, yeah,
- 15:58Speaker 1: we'll consider this diamond. Little did they know all their
- 16:01Speaker 1: actions were caught on CCTV lah. Every single one of
- 16:04Speaker 1: their actions. So the manager examined the replacement fake diamond
- 16:09Speaker 1: with an optical gemstone identification machine and confirmed it's a fake.
- 16:14Speaker 1: So guess what? They immediately got apprehended at Changi Airport.
- 16:18Speaker 1: This happened on the 19th of July 21st, they've been arrested. So,
- 16:22Speaker 1: don't try guys, do not even try. Within 3 hours,
- 16:27Speaker 1: the police found them and caught them at Changi Airport.
- 16:29Speaker 1: As somebody who's a big fan of the Ocean's 11 movie, yeah,
- 16:33Speaker 1: I want to say I wish this were to be
- 16:35Speaker 1: made into a Netflix documentary, but I don't think there's
- 16:37Speaker 1: enough content here. Ocean's Zero.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I, I, I feel very let down by how it ended.
- 16:42Speaker 1: I said a cheeky. It's like, yes, you studied the store,
- 16:47Speaker 1: you have the confidence plan in place already and you
- 16:49Speaker 1: went through the effort of getting a counterfeit diamond. They
- 16:52Speaker 1: went through the effort. But how do you bring it
- 16:55Speaker 1: out through your mouth.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Yeah, it's crime. It is. I told you it's, yeah.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Coming up right after 8 a.m., uh, Joe was just
- 17:04Speaker 1: filling me in on your catch up you had with
- 17:06Speaker 1: your friends yesterday. You guys had an early birthday celebration. Yeah,
- 17:10Speaker 1: the birthday dinners have started, to which I don't know why,
- 17:13Speaker 1: but I'm telling all my friends no need cake. Don't, don't,
- 17:17Speaker 1: don't buy cake. If you're gonna buy cake, just get
- 17:20Speaker 1: us one small slice. Yes, yes, yes. I get you.
- 17:23Speaker 1: I get you. I mean, it, it always is the case,
- 17:25Speaker 1: but
- 17:25Speaker 1: At the end of the day, you still need to
- 17:27Speaker 1: cut one. Yeah, but you know, I feel very bad. Why?
- 17:31Speaker 1: Because all of us will, OK, they'll get me a
- 17:33Speaker 1: nice cake. Then what happens to 4 slices and the
- 17:37Speaker 1: other 3 quarters of the cake just leave there. At least,
- 17:39Speaker 1: at least in the office or yeah, office situation we
- 17:44Speaker 1: can we have tons of people, yeah, exactly who can help,
- 17:47Speaker 1: but anyway, you were filling us in on filling.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Yeah, so interesting. We were all catching up on life,
- 17:53Speaker 1: you know, Iggy's a dad, other, other friends are dating
- 17:56Speaker 1: here and there and all that. But when it comes
- 17:59Speaker 1: to dating stories, right, I actually have a bit of
- 18:02Speaker 1: an interesting one to share. OK, about yourself? No, OK, sorry,
- 18:06Speaker 1: I had my hopes up again. I'm gonna say this. Yes, yes, yes.
- 18:10Speaker 1: If I have anything official you like.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Girlfriend, girlfriend, I will tell you. OK, got it. I promise. OK. Yeah,
- 18:18Speaker 1: but somehow the convo, right, it felt like I was
- 18:20Speaker 1: watching a TikTok rant video. Yes, and it's not related
- 18:24Speaker 1: to you, it's related to one of your friends, and
- 18:27Speaker 1: it's something that you don't wish to happen to anyone
- 18:30Speaker 1: else it's just the Singaporean dating scene in Singaporean men. OK,
- 18:34Speaker 1: I'm interested. Yeah, 1987. This was her.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I guess her initial phase, right before she became Dua
- 18:41Speaker 1: Lipa of today. This was really like her original phase.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Love it still. Anyway, about to open up the phone lines, 669-11987.
- 18:50Speaker 1: So Joe was in the midst of telling me about
- 18:53Speaker 1: your friend who went on a dating app, and went
- 18:56Speaker 1: on a date, and then what happened? Had dinner with
- 18:58Speaker 1: my inner circle yesterday for a birthday celebration. We're all
- 19:01Speaker 1: catching up with life, right? And they were all sharing,
- 19:04Speaker 1: you know, Iggy was sharing fatherhood stories. The rest were
- 19:06Speaker 1: sharing about their dating stories on the dating app.jo faster.
- 19:12Speaker 1: I was like, no need.
- 19:15Speaker 1: No need because got game ready, that's why.
- 19:20Speaker 1: You don't need the help. You give me too much credit.
- 19:22Speaker 1: But OK, um, this one, when I was hearing my
- 19:25Speaker 1: friend speak about this, it felt like I was watching
- 19:28Speaker 1: any other TikTok video, but set by a millennial, because TikTok,
- 19:33Speaker 1: you get all your Gen Zs and even now your
- 19:35Speaker 1: Gen alphas complaining about the men here in Singapore. I
- 19:38Speaker 1: would have to say I think the Gen Z and
- 19:40Speaker 1: Gen alphas are in an era of hating on men.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I don't want to generalize it, but I'm seeing, I
- 19:46Speaker 1: don't know whether it's just my algorithm right now, but
- 19:48Speaker 1: why is there so much hate on men right now?
- 19:50Speaker 1: So basically, to summarize the entire convo, you know, went
- 19:55Speaker 1: on a date, on a first meeting with this guy,
- 19:57Speaker 1: and all the guy talked about was himself. Oh no,
- 20:01Speaker 1: and how much of himself he does, you know, how
- 20:04Speaker 1: well to do he is, no, where he lives, and
- 20:08Speaker 1: then apparently this guy plays a very expensive heavy instrument
- 20:12Speaker 1: which turned out to be the sex.
- 20:14Speaker 1: I think you're saying too much right now, Joe. No,
- 20:16Speaker 1: I'm not saying where, yeah, but she was just face
- 20:19Speaker 1: palming and she had to do the pretend to take
- 20:22Speaker 1: a phone call and leave the scenario. Maybe he was
- 20:24Speaker 1: hoping that the saxophone story will blow her away.
- 20:32Speaker 1: No, to which, right, to which I'm just thinking based
- 20:37Speaker 1: off a very good friend story from yesterday and watching
- 20:40Speaker 1: all these TikTok rant videos about Singaporean men not knowing
- 20:44Speaker 1: how to hold a convoy. Is this true? Like, is
- 20:48Speaker 1: the Singaporean men bad? No.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Well, I, I think Singaporean men have their upsides. OK,
- 20:55Speaker 1: justice for Singaporean men, um, but I will say that
- 20:58Speaker 1: when it comes to wavelength, I don't think it's just, um,
- 21:03Speaker 1: it wouldn't just be related to only Singaporean men are
- 21:06Speaker 1: bad at conversations. I think I've been traveled, I've traveled
- 21:09Speaker 1: overseas before and had conversations with dudes.
- 21:12Speaker 1: or like went on dates overseas last time where we
- 21:14Speaker 1: just couldn't click, but that doesn't mean that they don't
- 21:17Speaker 1: have personality. It just means we're not a match. OK,
- 21:19Speaker 1: can I ask, and if you want to share, please
- 21:21Speaker 1: feel free. What was the first convo between you and Jeremy? Like,
- 21:24Speaker 1: did he win you over with his charm and not
- 21:27Speaker 1: the first one, the first conversation, that's for sure. He, uh.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Wait, I, I think you know the story. Like when
- 21:34Speaker 1: he first spoke to me, it was because I was
- 21:37Speaker 1: on a work engagement on a cruise. You already know this, right?
- 21:40Speaker 1: on the first date. Oh, first, we had good conversation.
- 21:46Speaker 1: That's for sure. We had a good conversation. Did he
- 21:47Speaker 1: talk about himself a lot? Um, no, he listened a lot,
- 21:51Speaker 1: like he did, you know, he now in our current life,
- 21:54Speaker 1: he always says, I'm the one that talk, I will
- 21:56Speaker 1: talk more for sure. But during the first date,
- 21:59Speaker 1: Um, here's a tactic for you, OK. So he told
- 22:01Speaker 1: me later that he thought about this. He booked a restaurant,
- 22:05Speaker 1: a casual one, so it's not like something too stuffy
- 22:08Speaker 1: or you're taking notes, right? Yeah. So he didn't book
- 22:11Speaker 1: anything too stuffy. In fact, it was like those tapas
- 22:13Speaker 1: restaurant kind of places. So it's um vibey, there's music,
- 22:17Speaker 1: you know, and he intentionally, he told me this after,
- 22:21Speaker 1: he intentionally picked the bar seat, like the counter seat,
- 22:24Speaker 1: so that we can sit next to each other.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Instead of sitting opposite each other. So he said that
- 22:31Speaker 1: in that way, Joe is actually taking notes. I'm not
- 22:35Speaker 1: lying right now. He's saying that it feels more comfortable
- 22:39Speaker 1: and you don't have to shout across, you know, the
- 22:41Speaker 1: table if it's noisy and you get into like more, um,
- 22:45Speaker 1: you get more connected in the conversation. That's what he said.
- 22:48Speaker 1: I don't need to take notes because that's what I
- 22:51Speaker 1: do as well. I prefer to sit next to someone
- 22:55Speaker 1: as compared to opposite because.
- 22:57Speaker 1: The tables are very, yeah, and it's awkward if you
- 23:00Speaker 1: just met the person you just keep staring at the person, OK, right? Yeah.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Here's the next question I want to ask you. Did
- 23:07Speaker 1: he ask you questions about yourself and and all that,
- 23:11Speaker 1: for sure, for sure. He asked me a lot about,
- 23:12Speaker 1: I think it also helps because we are in two
- 23:15Speaker 1: very different types of industries. I realized when I do
- 23:18Speaker 1: that with the people that I go out with, given
- 23:21Speaker 1: what I do for a living, I always get this, joking,
- 23:25Speaker 1: I feel like I'm being interviewed by you.
- 23:28Speaker 1: I mean it happens sometimes when I meet new people
- 23:30Speaker 1: as well, but um, I don't, I actually find it
- 23:35Speaker 1: nice if the person is interested to get to know
- 23:38Speaker 1: you a bit more, right? Based off my good friend's
- 23:42Speaker 1: story yesterday and all these TikTok rants on social media,
- 23:44Speaker 1: 669-11987 or WhatsApp us at 90050987. And the question is,
- 23:51Speaker 1: do you know someone around you that is very full
- 23:54Speaker 1: of themselves? And it doesn't mean it's only limited to dating.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Stories, OK. It could, you can send in anonymous messages
- 24:01Speaker 1: to tell us about your colleague or someone that you know,
- 24:03Speaker 1: maybe an acquaintance or a friend or, or an auntie
- 24:07Speaker 1: or a family member or a cousin. Every single convo
- 24:10Speaker 1: you have, right, must be about that person. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 24:13Speaker 1: and they're always flexing or trying to show off something.
- 24:15Speaker 1: They will make it about him or her. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Let us know 669-11987. In exchange, we got a lovely
- 24:22Speaker 1: treat coming your way.
- 24:23Speaker 1: So if you haven't already checked out Racine's, it is
- 24:27Speaker 1: the ultimate buffet brunch at Sofitel Singapore City Center.
- 24:31Speaker 1: And this is worth over $300 because it is a
- 24:35Speaker 1: dining experience for two. How about this, the creme brulee?
- 24:40Speaker 1: I love that. Or the cake cake. We've got a
- 24:43Speaker 1: question for you here. Do you know of someone who
- 24:45Speaker 1: just cannot stop talking about themselves? Like they're just so
- 24:48Speaker 1: full of themselves, they want to flex everything all the time.
- 24:51Speaker 1: It could be a project mate, a work colleague, or
- 24:54Speaker 1: even your worst first date story. Let us know, or
- 24:57Speaker 1: maybe even a relative.
- 24:58Speaker 1: I say good morning to anonymous texter number one. Hey, Sojo,
- 25:02Speaker 1: please keep me anonymous. This involves my colleague. Whenever we
- 25:06Speaker 1: have work lunches or work dinner with our managers and
- 25:09Speaker 1: maybe even our other colleagues, she has this problem where
- 25:13Speaker 1: she loves to say, yeah, me also, and she will
- 25:16Speaker 1: tell her stories and make it all about herself. Oh no. OK,
- 25:20Speaker 1: we have one coming in here. You didn't leave your
- 25:22Speaker 1: name but initials RD. You said, Good morning, Sonia and Joakim.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I'm talking about my auntie. Now, my auntie constantly wants
- 25:30Speaker 1: to flex about how her son is doing and how
- 25:33Speaker 1: well they're doing, and it almost feels like a competition
- 25:35Speaker 1: in a way that my parents start to want to
- 25:38Speaker 1: flex about us, but it doesn't feel so great because
- 25:41Speaker 1: we're not doing that great in our lives right now.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Oh no, Artie, I mean, hey, look, I, I honestly
- 25:48Speaker 1: feel like when you get together for Chinese New Year or,
- 25:53Speaker 1: you know, any, any sort of family gatherings and all that.
- 25:55Speaker 1: This tends to happen, you know, once one person starts
- 25:58Speaker 1: flexing about their son or daughter or whatever, the other
- 26:01Speaker 1: one also wanna, yeah, hey, my daughter also, I did this,
- 26:04Speaker 1: you know. Keep the calls and texts coming in over
- 26:06Speaker 1: at 669-11987 or WhatsApp us at 90050987. In exchange, a
- 26:12Speaker 1: dining experience for two over at Sofitel Singapore City Center
- 26:16Speaker 1: worth over $300. I really wonder how the sales are.
- 26:21Speaker 1: On, you know, the things that people were picking up
- 26:24Speaker 1: outside of a wedding venue, things like, uh, wedding favors
- 26:27Speaker 1: or gifts or even the ring pops and part of
- 26:30Speaker 1: the invitation or something. I saw that people were picking
- 26:32Speaker 1: up and reselling it. Basically it's trash, but they're reselling. Oh,
- 26:37Speaker 1: they're trash like they're open. So, so people have been
- 26:41Speaker 1: picking it up outside the venue in an attempt to
- 26:44Speaker 1: resell it. Please have some self-respect. That's quite crazy anyway.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Back to the topic here today. Um, in exchange, we
- 26:51Speaker 1: want to give you a dining experience worth over $300
- 26:55Speaker 1: for you and a loved one. And the, the question
- 26:59Speaker 1: for you here today is, do you know someone around
- 27:01Speaker 1: you that cannot stop talking about themselves and they're constantly
- 27:04Speaker 1: flexing about what they're doing or what they're up to?
- 27:07Speaker 1: Want to say good morning to Brandon. Hey, Sojo, you
- 27:11Speaker 1: can call me Brandon. I'm the younger of two siblings.
- 27:15Speaker 1: I think 3 in total. And the thing about it
- 27:17Speaker 1: is sometimes at the dinner table, my siblings will be
- 27:20Speaker 1: talking about themselves more. They boast about their achievements. They
- 27:24Speaker 1: boast about their results and grades. When it comes to me,
- 27:27Speaker 1: I just keep very quiet. I do feel intimidated. I
- 27:30Speaker 1: do feel as if I'm not good enough to fit
- 27:32Speaker 1: in the table, but I'm trying to work on that
- 27:35Speaker 1: and hopefully it improves in time. Yeah, I mean, look,
- 27:38Speaker 1: I think it comes from a place of um.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Perhaps I can relate also because when I was a kid, right,
- 27:44Speaker 1: I was super duper duper quiet, and you know, when
- 27:47Speaker 1: it comes to sharing about your achievements with maybe your
- 27:50Speaker 1: relatives or your cousins and all that, I find that,
- 27:53Speaker 1: or rather I found that my mom would do that more.
- 27:57Speaker 1: She'd be like, oh, do you know that she won
- 27:58Speaker 1: this award, but I'll never be the one to say it,
- 28:00Speaker 1: you know what I mean? And even to this day
- 28:03Speaker 1: as an adult, right?
- 28:05Speaker 1: And this is a question for you as well, Joe.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Since we've been in the half corporate world for some
- 28:11Speaker 1: time because we still work for a company, do you
- 28:13Speaker 1: find sometimes that your friends may ask you, do you
- 28:15Speaker 1: write a lot for your appraisal or your, you know, your,
- 28:18Speaker 1: your goal setting and all that, like, do you write enough?
- 28:21Speaker 1: Because I was told before, right, that I'm not writing enough,
- 28:24Speaker 1: you know.
- 28:24Speaker 1: For my appraisals and my goal settings, I'm gonna write
- 28:28Speaker 1: every single thing that I do in black and white.
- 28:32Speaker 1: So I, I think that's my weakness. Yeah, I don't
- 28:34Speaker 1: do that. No, for goals and appraisals in the office, yes,
- 28:37Speaker 1: because it's very important, but in terms of saying it
- 28:40Speaker 1: to someone else like, Hey, today I achieved this and that,
- 28:42Speaker 1: no need.
- 28:44Speaker 1: No need. I, I, I, I am a really paisy person. I,
- 28:46Speaker 1: I wouldn't say me too, me too. There are people
- 28:49Speaker 1: who say they're pace, but they, ah, no lah, no lah.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Then they will start talking about it. That's humble bragging,
- 28:54Speaker 1: humble bragging, yeah. OK. When we come back, we've got
- 28:56Speaker 1: some callers hanging on the line, and once again, the
- 28:59Speaker 1: question to you today is, do you know someone around
- 29:01Speaker 1: you that just really is really full of themselves, constantly
- 29:05Speaker 1: flexing about what they're up to and what they're doing
- 29:07Speaker 1: and all their achievements, um, your calls coming up.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Next, in exchange, uh, dining experience for two worth over
- 29:13Speaker 1: $300 at Sofitel Singapore City. We're talking about whether or
- 29:18Speaker 1: not you have someone around you or you know someone
- 29:20Speaker 1: that cannot stop talking about themselves, and they really just
- 29:23Speaker 1: keep flexing and diverting the attention to themselves. Before Jeremy,
- 29:28Speaker 1: when you were still going out and you know, exploring
- 29:30Speaker 1: the field of men that we have here in Singapore.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Have you met anyone like that?
- 29:36Speaker 1: One person before, but I will not say this person's name. Um,
- 29:41Speaker 1: this person used to be a public figure. Used to,
- 29:47Speaker 1: used to, not anymore. Yeah, and the whole premise, it
- 29:51Speaker 1: all started with he asked me out at, uh, at
- 29:54Speaker 1: a club, OK, and I, I know. I thought he
- 29:58Speaker 1: looked familiar, and then, um, but I didn't say anything.
- 30:02Speaker 1: I was just like, oh, maybe I've seen him here
- 30:03Speaker 1: quite often, right?
- 30:05Speaker 1: After which, uh, he asked for my number, we chatted,
- 30:07Speaker 1: we went out, we went out, and then he asked,
- 30:10Speaker 1: so do you know who I am? And he started
- 30:14Speaker 1: talking and telling me about his whole
- 30:17Speaker 1: Um, career, life story and everything, and a sales pitch. Yeah, I,
- 30:22Speaker 1: I feel like I couldn't really get a word in.
- 30:24Speaker 1: It was pleasant and he was nice to look at,
- 30:27Speaker 1: I will say, but I just, I don't think we're
- 30:29Speaker 1: on the same wavelength. OK, there we go. I'll tell
- 30:32Speaker 1: you who it is later. I'm not gonna say on air.
- 30:33Speaker 1: I feel like I know this story. You know this story,
- 30:36Speaker 1: I forgot who it was, but. It's OK. I won't
- 30:38Speaker 1: say it on air. Long time ago quite a lot
- 30:40Speaker 1: of people may still remember this person.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Anyway, anyway, uh, we're going to more of your messages
- 30:46Speaker 1: and your calls. Uh-huh. We actually do have, do we
- 30:49Speaker 1: have any messages you want to read out first before
- 30:51Speaker 1: I get to Bob online? OK, we got one coming
- 30:55Speaker 1: in from anonymous texter. OK. Hey guys, very timely topic.
- 30:59Speaker 1: My manager, oh no, can't stop talking about himself and
- 31:02Speaker 1: his achievements. Always telling the team, the way I did it.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Hey man, I think every office there will always be
- 31:11Speaker 1: this one person. For sure, for sure. OK, Bob, what
- 31:14Speaker 1: about you?
- 31:15Speaker 2: So, um, you know, when we are out on a
- 31:17Speaker 2: meal and then this person will ask you questions about
- 31:20Speaker 2: you and when you start talking about anything in the office,
- 31:23Speaker 2: she'll just interrupt whatever you're talking and sometimes on the
- 31:26Speaker 2: different topics. She'll ask questions and then she will interrupt
- 31:30Speaker 2: halfway and you never get to finish a story that
- 31:33Speaker 2: you wanted to tell
- 31:34Speaker 2: her.
- 31:34Speaker 1: And it kind of diverts back to being.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Is it or she doesn't drive the convo forward. Yeah,
- 31:40Speaker 1: and she does she even, does she realize this, you reckon?
- 31:43Speaker 2: No, I
- 31:43Speaker 2: didn't tell her about it, but sometimes I just keep
- 31:47Speaker 2: quiet.
- 31:47Speaker 1: It must be exhausting though to have someone like that
- 31:49Speaker 1: in the office. Yeah, we do have time for more
- 31:52Speaker 1: calls and texts, by the way, 669-119-87 or 90050987. In exchange,
- 31:59Speaker 1: the ultimate rest scenes buffet brunch, Sofitel Singapore City Center
- 32:03Speaker 1: is a super fresh.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Menu celebrating the Straits heritage cuisine. So you think a
- 32:08Speaker 1: Singaporean chili prawns, Nonya Assam fish, roasted suckling pig, you
- 32:12Speaker 1: even have premium oysters, sashimi, all just for you, and
- 32:16Speaker 1: this is worth over $300 a dining experience for two.
- 32:19Speaker 1: You know, you just have to contribute a story. That's it.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Thank you for making all of us hungry. I know
- 32:23Speaker 1: I'm starving as well. OK, and we're back with the
- 32:26Speaker 1: topic here of the day, a question just for you,
- 32:28Speaker 1: inspired by Joakim's conversation with his friends just yesterday and um.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Bit of a disastrous date for your one of your
- 32:34Speaker 1: close friends. Yeah. Do you know of someone who just
- 32:37Speaker 1: cannot stop talking about themselves and they're just so full
- 32:39Speaker 1: of themselves they want to flex everything? Say good morning
- 32:42Speaker 1: to CK. Morning, Sojo, my brother-in-law, all he can talk
- 32:47Speaker 1: about at the dinner table is about how great he is.
- 32:49Speaker 1: Oh no, how his customers always request for him by name,
- 32:52Speaker 1: and that no one else can do what he does
- 32:54Speaker 1: as well as him. Not only that, he perpetually will
- 32:57Speaker 1: boast about how busy he is, and if I respond
- 33:00Speaker 1: and say I'm busy too,
- 33:01Speaker 1: You'd be so surprised. Like, really, what are you busy with?
- 33:05Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, it's a bit of a competition situation, right?
- 33:08Speaker 1: Coming and stuff. Oh, that's that bad energy, right? Any
- 33:13Speaker 1: other messages you want to read up? We got one
- 33:15Speaker 1: more coming in and this one involves a Chinese New
- 33:18Speaker 1: Year auntie.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Hey guys, keep me anonymous. I have an aunt that
- 33:22Speaker 1: we meet during Chinese New Year every year, and she
- 33:24Speaker 1: never fails to mention that her two sons are respectively
- 33:27Speaker 1: a lawyer and a consultant and flies overseas with them often.
- 33:32Speaker 1: She used to do it subtly when they just graduated,
- 33:34Speaker 1: but in recent years it has become blatant. Oh, my
- 33:38Speaker 1: son flew me first class last week. I was at
- 33:40Speaker 1: the first-class check-in area, first class lounge where a la
- 33:44Speaker 1: carte dining was offered.
- 33:45Speaker 1: And the first class service received on board where they
- 33:47Speaker 1: offered 3 starters, 3 main courses, 3 desserts. She will
- 33:51Speaker 1: go on and on and on and on. There you go.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Don't let my mom hear this. I don't think I've,
- 33:56Speaker 1: I have not brought her first class ever before. I
- 33:59Speaker 1: haven't sat first class before, so yeah, don't let her
- 34:03Speaker 1: hear it. There we go. Anonymous is on the line.
- 34:05Speaker 1: What about you? A
- 34:07Speaker 2: very good old friend.
- 34:08Speaker 2: from secondary school. Yeah, so she's, she's in the public
- 34:13Speaker 2: sector in a sub-unit, head of department, and she drives,
- 34:18Speaker 2: she has a condo, you know, um, for passive income
- 34:21Speaker 2: and all these things. But then her dating life sucks lah. So,
- 34:27Speaker 2: so actually, obviously because she drives, she loves to drive
- 34:29Speaker 2: us around and everything and then
- 34:31Speaker 2: She will start to tell us about how she meet
- 34:33Speaker 2: people offline, right, but it never goes on to a
- 34:36Speaker 2: second date. And, and she shares with us that she
- 34:39Speaker 2: was CSI this person all the way to secondary school records,
- 34:42Speaker 2: you know, very scary man. Yeah, like, like they, that
- 34:47Speaker 2: she will know which CCA this person go and everything.
- 34:49Speaker 2: I'm like, hey, this is a bit stalker, no, you
- 34:51Speaker 2: cannot do this. But anyway, she has her way, so.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Um, she, because she really wants to find a compatible
- 34:57Speaker 2: match like income and all these things, you see, that's
- 35:00Speaker 2: why she goes to details. Yeah, then anyway, so she,
- 35:03Speaker 2: she will be driving and I still remember one very
- 35:06Speaker 2: epic time, you know, she was driving in the expressway
- 35:08Speaker 2: and she was telling me, what's wrong with me? Why
- 35:11Speaker 2: am I not getting a second date with all these
- 35:13Speaker 2: people and everything, and I'm, I'm thinking, OK, you focus
- 35:16Speaker 2: on driving, OK, this is not a topic for driving.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Well, you know, it sounds to me like she definitely
- 35:23Speaker 1: is looking for that special person in her life and
- 35:26Speaker 1: perhaps maybe she overcompensates because she's unhappy in that area
- 35:30Speaker 1: of her life. You think so?
- 35:31Speaker 2: I think so. So right now, you know, she's with
- 35:34Speaker 2: somebody that we don't even know whether this person is
- 35:37Speaker 2: real because she says this person is stationed overseas. And
- 35:41Speaker 2: apparently she flies there to see him once in a
- 35:44Speaker 2: while and uh but he's never back in Singapore.
- 35:48Speaker 2: It's AI robot, we also don't know.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Oh no, I hope it's not a scam.
- 35:52Speaker 2: She said she chose him because of his income. Oh
- 35:56Speaker 1: man, this is, you should see Joakim's expressions right now,
- 35:59Speaker 1: by the way. This is why dating is so hard
- 36:01Speaker 1: sometimes blank. Totally blank, Joakim. I mean, hey, yo, if
- 36:06Speaker 1: you ever have any interesting dating stories, you must tell me, OK?
- 36:09Speaker 1: Especially if you come across a girl who cannot stop
- 36:11Speaker 1: talking about herself. You're the only person I can tell.
- 36:14Speaker 1: That's true. Anyway, only one person.
- 36:18Speaker 1: can walk away with this beautiful experience here today. The
- 36:21Speaker 1: ultimate rest scenes buffet brunch at Sofitel Singapore City Center. OK,
- 36:26Speaker 1: I have finally watched the trailer. Goosebumps. Goosebumps for sure.
- 36:31Speaker 1: The entire world, we're all counting down to 18th of
- 36:34Speaker 1: December 2020.
- 36:35Speaker 1: 26 where finally Avengers Doomsday will be out in cinemas. Now,
- 36:39Speaker 1: we know Robert Downey Jr. is back in the MCU,
- 36:43Speaker 1: but as Doctor Doom. Is he a variant? Is it
- 36:46Speaker 1: a new role? I cannot wait to see what happens.
- 36:49Speaker 1: In this latest trailer they released.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Some of the OGs came back. We're talking Patrick Stewart
- 36:55Speaker 1: as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto. We have Tom
- 36:59Speaker 1: Hiddleston as Loki, and the new newer hero is Fantastic Four.
- 37:04Speaker 1: We got uh Shuri as the Black Panther. We have
- 37:07Speaker 1: who else is in the trailer. So many. Mystique is
- 37:10Speaker 1: in the trailer. Yelena as well, and we got Gambit
- 37:13Speaker 1: against Shang-Chi.
- 37:15Speaker 1: I'm saying, like how much was this budget on this film? Yeah,
- 37:19Speaker 1: because all the icons and the heavyweights came back. It's incredible.
- 37:23Speaker 1: And then we saw this previous trailer that said Steve
- 37:26Speaker 1: Rogers will be back in Avengers Doomsday, which initially we
- 37:30Speaker 1: thought was maybe just a speculation or like I think
- 37:33Speaker 1: everyone was waiting to see if it was true, right?
- 37:35Speaker 1: And then this happens.
- 37:39Speaker 1: We're going to need a miracle.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Hey pal, it's not possible.
- 37:48Speaker 1: If you know, you know. That's what I'm saying. From
- 37:50Speaker 1: the audio itself, I don't know if you can figure
- 37:52Speaker 1: out what's going on there. I'm getting goosebumps. So that
- 37:55Speaker 1: 2 minutes and 17 seconds in.
- 37:58Speaker 1: You see Chris Evans as Steve Rogers saying, hey pal,
- 38:04Speaker 1: and then Thor holds up Morn because if you watch
- 38:05Speaker 1: Avengers Endgame, he was able to wield it and the
- 38:09Speaker 1: hammer actually flew into Steve Rogers' hands. Exactly. Well, I mean,
- 38:14Speaker 1: I certainly got chills watching it. It's been a while
- 38:16Speaker 1: since we've seen a trailer of epic proportions like that,
- 38:19Speaker 1: and I think I saw the most elite joke about
- 38:21Speaker 1: this trailer so far. Look at Thor using 2 FA
- 38:25Speaker 1: to make sure that Steve Rogers is real.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Just to be sure, like, you never know. Got a
- 38:29Speaker 1: lot of scams nowadays. So if the store has to check,
- 38:32Speaker 1: please make sure you're checking people as well, yeah, yeah,
- 38:35Speaker 1: role model first. You know what? I've been trying my
- 38:37Speaker 1: best to buy or book at least one ticket for Odyssey,
- 38:42Speaker 1: but all the good seats are taken in IMAX IMAX
- 38:45Speaker 1: and even the 35mm screening. It's all full. Oh man.
- 38:49Speaker 1: So I think this is the kind of movie where
- 38:51Speaker 1: you must wait either 2 more weeks.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Or you have to be really on standby online to
- 38:56Speaker 1: get your tickets. Yeah, completely. I mean, there's been so
- 38:59Speaker 1: much hype about it and although there were some, I
- 39:01Speaker 1: would say mixed reviews before the movie even came out
- 39:04Speaker 1: due to the casting situation, all that, I think now
- 39:07Speaker 1: that people have gone to the cinema to watch it,
- 39:08Speaker 1: they've changed their mind. They say it's an absolute cinema,
- 39:11Speaker 1: and some even said Travis Scott, not too bad as
- 39:13Speaker 1: an actor. OK, yeah, that's only one way to find
- 39:16Speaker 1: out is to watch it ourselves, but let's see whether.
- 39:18Speaker 1: We can get our hands on those tickets. I do
- 39:20Speaker 1: want to watch it twice, one in IMAX and one
- 39:22Speaker 1: on the 35M film screening. Ah, if only it was
- 39:26Speaker 1: available on the plane, then I can watch it on,
- 39:27Speaker 1: but I wouldn't want to watch it on the plane. Yeah,
- 39:29Speaker 1: you gotta watch it the way it was shot. It's true,
- 39:31Speaker 1: it's true, it's true. Yeah, a small screen. I know
- 39:34Speaker 1: that one I can watch, you know, some other trashy
- 39:36Speaker 1: comedy or, yeah, yeah, all those rom-com stuff it for that. Yes.
- 39:41Speaker 1: How's it like gonna be 38 soon.
- 39:45Speaker 1: I don't know. What do you want me to say?
- 39:47Speaker 1: I mean, just wondering lah. Like suddenly my knees will
- 39:50Speaker 1: start cracking and all that, is it already, right? That's true.
- 39:54Speaker 1: That is quite true, but I mean, you know, you,
- 39:56Speaker 1: you've celebrated with your very close friends yesterday, and then
- 39:59Speaker 1: when I come back from my trip, we're going for
- 40:01Speaker 1: dinner as well. So what else are you?
- 40:04Speaker 1: do in between while I'm away? I mean, celebration party
- 40:08Speaker 1: or something. Tomorrow is gonna be the traditional Jack's place
- 40:11Speaker 1: with my mom. We've been doing that for so many
- 40:14Speaker 1: years since I was what, 7 or 8 years old.
- 40:16Speaker 1: No lah, no partying, partying, no need lah. Why? I honestly,
- 40:21Speaker 1: I'm done binge drinking. I said.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Uh, your wedding will be the last time I binge drink, OK,
- 40:26Speaker 1: and have fun. Definitely the last time. I do not
- 40:29Speaker 1: recommend it at all anymore. I'm done. I've retired. He
- 40:32Speaker 1: speaks from experience because he doesn't remember anything. I'd rather
- 40:35Speaker 1: just have a nice bottle of wine and finish it. OK,
- 40:38Speaker 1: I'm down for that. When I'm back, I'm back, we'll
- 40:40Speaker 1: do that. OK. On that note, handing it over to Nick,
- 40:43Speaker 1: and we'll catch you tomorrow at 6 a.m.
