- 0:06Speaker 1: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:09Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. The World's
- 0:14Speaker 1: a virginal podcast. Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:24Speaker 2: There just was a lot of division, I think within
- 0:27Speaker 2: the ranks on those two staffs, and I think they
- 0:29Speaker 2: can really undermine what you're doing as a head coach.
- 0:32Speaker 3: When Barth's cheating on you with David andrews Now on
- 0:34Speaker 3: that his new podcast, you should ask him a lot.
- 0:36Speaker 2: That's a fair point.
- 0:37Speaker 4: I can just see Evan, he's watching the Super Bowl
- 0:39Speaker 4: and he's got his jersey mics and he's like half bights,
- 0:42Speaker 4: like they're running as six to one for the tills.
- 0:45Speaker 5: We all decided at some point that red meat was
- 0:48Speaker 5: the devil. So I don't know who you people are
- 0:51Speaker 5: eating a lot of red meat is.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Not eat anything that bleeds or blood at one time.
- 0:55Speaker 2: It's not the best for you. Can I go to
- 0:57Speaker 2: my dark negative side. Sure of course, that's why you
- 1:00Speaker 2: hear which people like you in front of it. I mean,
- 1:03Speaker 2: you know, they got nothing.
- 1:04Speaker 1: They got three hundred million dollars.
- 1:05Speaker 2: This makes the package they got from Mookie Betts look
- 1:07Speaker 2: like they got Jason bear attack in Derek Wall for Heathcliff, Salcombe.
- 1:11Speaker 5: That is the trade hit one by the way, July,
- 1:13Speaker 5: hand of July.
- 1:14Speaker 2: I just don't know why trading for a month and
- 1:16Speaker 2: a half. It's a month and a half from now.
- 1:18Speaker 2: You don't know how calendars work. It's less than a
- 1:20Speaker 2: month of west he said, end of July. Usually it's
- 1:23Speaker 2: the middle of July.
- 1:23Speaker 6: But but it's the end of June, now the seventh,
- 1:26Speaker 6: that's the middle of children, middle of June.
- 1:28Speaker 2: So it's less than a month away.
- 1:30Speaker 4: I said a month and a half because he said
- 1:32Speaker 4: it was the end of July.
- 1:34Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:38Speaker 1: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I'm just gonna apologize and advance everyone, no Fred Kurse. Today.
- 1:48Speaker 2: The wheels are going to be off early and often.
- 1:50Speaker 2: It's just yours, truly an easy e Evan Lazarre. It's
- 1:56Speaker 2: gonna be a uh bare bones show today on Patriots Unfielded.
- 2:01Speaker 2: But we'll get through, We'll we'll get by. We got
- 2:04Speaker 2: some stuff to talk about. Of course, you know, major
- 2:08Speaker 2: transaction for the Patriots right off the top. So I
- 2:10Speaker 2: don't really think we need to have any pleasantries, Evan,
- 2:13Speaker 2: we get Let's get right into the guys, all right,
- 2:16Speaker 2: let's get into yes, yes, yes, your news of the day. Yes,
- 2:22Speaker 2: big big move, big move.
- 2:25Speaker 5: The day in Boston Sports today. Well, it's a I'm
- 2:30Speaker 5: not going to make a huge deal about Yes here Durant,
- 2:33Speaker 5: who was with the DC Defenders of the UFL most
- 2:36Speaker 5: recently champions championship pedigree, championship pedigree is right, there's no
- 2:41Speaker 5: Patriot that's won a Super Bowl with the Patriots on
- 2:44Speaker 5: the rosters. Now we have the UFL champion, yes here Durant.
- 2:48Speaker 5: But he, uh, he had a really good season there,
- 2:51Speaker 5: you know, all all UFL team for whatever it's worth,
- 2:54Speaker 5: you know, all pro in that league. And uh, there
- 2:57Speaker 5: was definitely some murmurs about, you know, him on short
- 3:00Speaker 5: lists of guys from that league that might get NFL
- 3:03Speaker 5: contracts coming off the spring leagues and things like that.
- 3:06Speaker 5: So but bigger picture, I think it's more just a
- 3:09Speaker 5: conversation about that ongoing left guard competition and West Schweitzer retires,
- 3:15Speaker 5: they signed Yasir Durant kind of fills in for that
- 3:18Speaker 5: west Sweitzer role of that veteran that's been around a
- 3:21Speaker 5: little bit so that would be the way I would
- 3:24Speaker 5: read it would just be kind of just another West
- 3:27Speaker 5: Schweitzer replacement type of player of older in the back.
- 3:30Speaker 5: Throw him into the midd.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Throw him into the mix. He's you know, he was here.
- 3:34Speaker 2: What was the twenty one, twenty one one one start?
- 3:36Speaker 5: I think training camp at twenty two.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Okay, so you know, you throw him into the mix.
- 3:40Speaker 2: He's a guy with at least some familiarity with the organization,
- 3:44Speaker 2: you see, if he can cover out a role. I
- 3:45Speaker 2: do feel like the tackle spots. We talked about this
- 3:48Speaker 2: a little bit last week. I think the tackle spots
- 3:50Speaker 2: are a little bit bear beyond Morgan Moses and Will Campbell. Yeah,
- 3:55Speaker 2: you know, so, I think there's a lot of competition
- 3:56Speaker 2: with Cayden Wallace. There's been some talk of wall Us
- 4:00Speaker 2: maybe sliding inside to provide depth in the interior spots
- 4:03Speaker 2: as well. So if Durant is one of these guys
- 4:06Speaker 2: that can carve out a role as a swing tackle
- 4:08Speaker 2: or provide you some depth on the inside, you know
- 4:11Speaker 2: who knows. So that's the big big, that's the big
- 4:14Speaker 2: Patriots news, and that's really about all we got for
- 4:16Speaker 2: Patriots news. Yeah, and I'm not gonna lie. It's the
- 4:19Speaker 2: biggest news story probably of the day here in Foxborough
- 4:23Speaker 2: is the intense heat that we're uh, we're dealing with
- 4:28Speaker 2: knocking on the door of triple digits, which is not
- 4:30Speaker 2: not something happens every day in New England. We're in
- 4:34Speaker 2: the we're in the mid nineties, and uh, I for one,
- 4:37Speaker 2: I'm really happy for it because I like the heat
- 4:40Speaker 2: and it's been a miserable spring. Now that we're into summer,
- 4:43Speaker 2: at least we're getting some summer like weather. I know
- 4:46Speaker 2: that you know, you you millennials are probably melting over there, so.
- 4:50Speaker 5: You're a summer guy.
- 4:51Speaker 2: I love this because now I love now.
- 4:53Speaker 5: The hot take that's out there is to be that
- 4:56Speaker 5: summer is overrated.
- 4:58Speaker 2: But you you think some aer just talking overrated about summer.
- 5:02Speaker 5: It gets a little hot, So what it's a little hot.
- 5:05Speaker 2: It's a little hot.
- 5:05Speaker 5: It's a little hot.
- 5:06Speaker 2: On first of all, there are very few days like
- 5:08Speaker 2: today that's in this in this area. I want to
- 5:11Speaker 2: say I saw something, you know, this would be a
- 5:13Speaker 2: perfect fred ism. I wanted to say I was watching
- 5:16Speaker 2: the news, I think yesterday and something like in the twenties.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Of the amount of days that are over one hundred,
- 5:24Speaker 2: you know, like on record twenty nine. Yeah, like around
- 5:28Speaker 2: here obviously not in the you know, we're not talking
- 5:31Speaker 2: Phoenix where it's like one point fifteen on a regular basis.
- 5:35Speaker 2: But yeah, it's it's warm here. Not a lot going
- 5:38Speaker 2: on in and around the stadium. I've been struck the
- 5:40Speaker 2: last couple of days that I've been walking through the
- 5:42Speaker 2: parking lot looking over at the players area, have not
- 5:46Speaker 2: a lot of activity over there, which is what it
- 5:49Speaker 2: should be at this time of year. It's that sort
- 5:52Speaker 2: of key five or six week period between the end
- 5:54Speaker 2: of Mini camp and the start of training camp where
- 5:57Speaker 2: the coach loses his mind because you're constantly worried about
- 6:01Speaker 2: what his players are doing.
- 6:02Speaker 5: I'm sure, i mean, your hands off at this point
- 6:05Speaker 5: in terms of training and all that kind of stuff.
- 6:08Speaker 5: And I hate to go back to this well, but
- 6:11Speaker 5: we've talked about in the past to this schedule maybe
- 6:16Speaker 5: changing in terms of the NFL off season and how
- 6:19Speaker 5: they structure the NFL off season, because it makes no
- 6:22Speaker 5: sense to me that they have the spring program, they
- 6:26Speaker 5: have OTAs, they have Mini camp, and then everybody goes
- 6:29Speaker 5: on a five week break and then we come back again.
- 6:32Speaker 5: At the end of July, Like, I just why the
- 6:34Speaker 5: break in between. I still can't really wrap my head
- 6:37Speaker 5: around why that is. You know, obviously just talking about
- 6:41Speaker 5: it from a football standpoint. Got to stay in shape,
- 6:45Speaker 5: you gotta get ready for the season. That's a lot
- 6:47Speaker 5: of things I've abele talked about towards the end of
- 6:49Speaker 5: the spring. But unfortunately, just league wide, a lot of
- 6:53Speaker 5: guys get in trouble this time of year too, right,
- 6:55Speaker 5: So it's just all around this break is like it
- 7:00Speaker 5: just whether you're staying in shape, whether you're you know,
- 7:03Speaker 5: doing the right things in terms of off the field,
- 7:06Speaker 5: Like that's that's where we're at right now, and it's
- 7:09Speaker 5: tough every year we hear bad news this time of year.
- 7:11Speaker 5: It feels like league wide of course, and so you
- 7:14Speaker 5: just got to stay out of that, stay out of
- 7:16Speaker 5: the headlines. But I would I would understand totally if
- 7:20Speaker 5: they decided to push this around a little bit in
- 7:24Speaker 5: terms of the off season and go to more of
- 7:27Speaker 5: like a continuous ota mini camp, training camp type of schedule,
- 7:34Speaker 5: because this is you're right, like all thirty two coaches
- 7:37Speaker 5: are sweating it right now about their team.
- 7:39Speaker 2: So give you a real, real quick I'll give you
- 7:41Speaker 2: a story that the late great Will McDonald once told
- 7:44Speaker 2: Fred and I and Brian Morey when I first started here.
- 7:48Speaker 2: You know, Will's talking to us about some of some
- 7:51Speaker 2: of his early interactions with Bill Belichick. And this was
- 7:55Speaker 2: before I think Bill may have been the coach at
- 7:57Speaker 2: Cleveland at the time. And they Will golf. Will and Bill.
- 8:02Speaker 2: We're out, you know, I think, golfing on Nantucket and
- 8:07Speaker 2: Bill's standing over his ball, getting ready to take his drive,
- 8:10Speaker 2: and he's addressing the ball, and all of a sudden,
- 8:13Speaker 2: he just backs away and he starts mumbling some swears,
- 8:16Speaker 2: and Will's like, what's the matter Bill. He's like, you
- 8:19Speaker 2: just never know what they're doing. You never know what
- 8:21Speaker 2: they're doing, Like these a holes are getting in trouble
- 8:24Speaker 2: right now and you have no control over it. And
- 8:26Speaker 2: Bill hated that feeling of not having the control. So
- 8:31Speaker 2: I can understand what you're talking about. It's something that coaches,
- 8:34Speaker 2: you know, they think about it all the time. So
- 8:36Speaker 2: I mean, it just was one of those little anecdotes
- 8:38Speaker 2: that always stuck out to me. And it was something
- 8:40Speaker 2: that that McDonald's told told us. God's twenty five years ago,
- 8:45Speaker 2: maybe maybe longer. At this point.
- 8:46Speaker 5: It's too bad that, you know, towards the because you
- 8:49Speaker 5: hear a lot of stories like that of Bill with
- 8:53Speaker 5: people in the media once upon a time, you know,
- 8:55Speaker 5: hanging out, you know, golfing, you know, your guy Felger
- 8:59Speaker 5: is alway. Yeah, it's been talked about that in the past,
- 9:02Speaker 5: and having these and then like you know, post by
- 9:05Speaker 5: you that does like completely change and Bill became completely
- 9:09Speaker 5: closed off to anybody on the outside. But we've been
- 9:12Speaker 5: cool to golf with Bill, you know absolutely, that would
- 9:15Speaker 5: have been amazing.
- 9:16Speaker 2: So you can tell that it's going to be one
- 9:18Speaker 2: of those shows today where pretty much anything goes. Yeah,
- 9:21Speaker 2: so if you have anything on your mind at all,
- 9:24Speaker 2: there are no topics that are going to be dismissed today.
- 9:28Speaker 2: I'm not going to make that promise because you know
- 9:29Speaker 2: how I can get sometimes when I'm not in the mood.
- 9:31Speaker 2: But in all seriousness, let us know we can go
- 9:35Speaker 2: in a number of different directions today. Obviously there's not
- 9:38Speaker 2: a huge amount of breaking Patriots news. I believe we're
- 9:43Speaker 2: down to one draft pick remaining unsigned, trading on Anderson, right.
- 9:47Speaker 5: Yeah, well we can talk a little bit about that.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I mean, Craig Woodson did sign, so I think we're
- 9:52Speaker 2: down to one pick, you know, So if that's something
- 9:54Speaker 2: that's giving you some concern, let us know Patriots Unfiltered
- 9:58Speaker 2: Hotline obviously eight five five Pats five hundred, or you
- 10:02Speaker 2: could send us an email at podcasts at Patriots dot com.
- 10:06Speaker 2: So those are the two best ways to get in
- 10:08Speaker 2: touch and take part in our conversation today. But again,
- 10:12Speaker 2: not to go all Felgrinmas on you, but free form
- 10:15Speaker 2: Friday Tuesday Special Tuesday with one hundred degrees out edition.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Anything you guys want to talk about just looking ahead, Evan,
- 10:24Speaker 2: I wanted to get you a take, and I printed
- 10:26Speaker 2: out the lengthy lists the ESPN and PFF I believe
- 10:31Speaker 2: have combined to put together a quarter century NFL team,
- 10:38Speaker 2: so position by position, mostly pretty straightforward picks. But I
- 10:43Speaker 2: think that we can probably have some some conversation at
- 10:47Speaker 2: least about some of the omissions. I had one Patriot
- 10:50Speaker 2: omission that kind of rubbed me the wrong way that
- 10:51Speaker 2: I'll get to later, so we'll spend some time going
- 10:54Speaker 2: over that. But in the meantime, like I said, let
- 10:59Speaker 2: us know what you got want to talk about, get
- 11:01Speaker 2: you know, get on the on the phone. Patriots unfilled
- 11:04Speaker 2: their hotline again eight five five pats five hundred or
- 11:07Speaker 2: shoot us an email. We have a couple of emails
- 11:09Speaker 2: already coming in. I see one. Uh. You know, we
- 11:12Speaker 2: were talking about the tackle situation and and you know,
- 11:16Speaker 2: the the worries about the coaches leaving, the players leaving,
- 11:20Speaker 2: and the coach is worrying about it. Will Campbell looks
- 11:23Speaker 2: like he's going to be sticking around during this period.
- 11:26Speaker 2: So I'll get to that email later. But he was
- 11:29Speaker 2: doing some charity stuff, you know, the past week. I
- 11:32Speaker 2: think it was the Great Wolf Lodge.
- 11:33Speaker 5: Yeah, some water park or something like that. I think, uh,
- 11:37Speaker 5: I think when Alex Francisco might have something up about
- 11:40Speaker 5: some of the stuff.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Absolutely, absolutely, uh So get those emails in and uh,
- 11:47Speaker 2: this is a good time when you're outside it right,
- 11:50Speaker 2: because Evan melted by the way he said this summer
- 11:53Speaker 2: is overrated. He can't be outside. We know Evan doesn't
- 11:55Speaker 2: do any yard work anyway. I didn't say.
- 11:57Speaker 5: Summer was overrated.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Summer's overrated. It's too hot. He doesn't do hard work
- 12:01Speaker 2: in the first place. So for those of you that
- 12:05Speaker 2: aren't afraid to go outside and get maybe a little
- 12:07Speaker 2: bit sweaty, a little uncomfortable and get some work in.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Fred told me last week that you need work boots
- 12:13Speaker 2: to do yard work, which I had never really thought of.
- 12:16Speaker 2: And then I did some power washing over the weekend
- 12:19Speaker 2: and I wish I had my work boots on and
- 12:21Speaker 2: I agree, yeah, And I had my new work boots
- 12:25Speaker 2: from Brunt because that you know why, because they gave
- 12:29Speaker 2: him to us, which was great and we appreciated that.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Based right here annoying when Brent Workwear makes work boots
- 12:34Speaker 2: and apparel that are built for the job site. Their
- 12:37Speaker 2: gear is comfortable, durable, and named after the real workers
- 12:40Speaker 2: in the trades that helped design it. You can even
- 12:43Speaker 2: try brunts out on the job and if it doesn't
- 12:46Speaker 2: blow you away, they let you send it back. Save
- 12:49Speaker 2: ten dollars on your first order at brntworkerwear dot com,
- 12:53Speaker 2: forward slash pats or with coupon code PATS. So I
- 13:00Speaker 2: can tell you that I'm a big fan of this stuff.
- 13:03Speaker 2: I was not ofully familiar with it. I don't know
- 13:05Speaker 2: how much you had with it before they became a
- 13:11Speaker 2: great sponsor for us, but the people at Brunt were
- 13:13Speaker 2: kind enough to send us some apparel and I love it. Yeah,
- 13:18Speaker 2: And I'm picky, and I wish I had those work
- 13:19Speaker 2: boots on when I was powerwashing, because my feet got
- 13:22Speaker 2: soaked and wet, and I don't think that would have happened.
- 13:24Speaker 2: If I had the work boots on, which were right
- 13:25Speaker 2: in the house, I could have just put him on.
- 13:27Speaker 5: I'm a picky guy when it comes to clothes, which
- 13:30Speaker 5: I don't think is probably surprising, but.
- 13:33Speaker 2: A ricky guy when it comes to everything, right.
- 13:35Speaker 5: So I'm very picky when it comes to my clothes,
- 13:37Speaker 5: and so it honestly, it frustrates me because a lot
- 13:41Speaker 5: of the time if somebody gives me something for free,
- 13:44Speaker 5: which is not very often, but if it does happen,
- 13:47Speaker 5: a lot of the time, I don't like it, like
- 13:48Speaker 5: it just doesn't fit right or whatever. This the quarter
- 13:51Speaker 5: zip that they gave us was fantastic. I could definitely
- 13:55Speaker 5: see myself wearing it. I was very excited that it was.
- 13:59Speaker 5: It was very comfortab.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's I'll be looking forward to the
- 14:04Speaker 2: first snow small now, I won't let me just take that,
- 14:07Speaker 2: ye here, summer guy, I'm not looking forward to the
- 14:09Speaker 2: first snowstorm. But I had some issues last year with
- 14:13Speaker 2: my old boots. My old boots. I lost a whole
- 14:16Speaker 2: soul of one of the boots actually had a duct
- 14:19Speaker 2: taped on as I was doing the snowblower the last time.
- 14:22Speaker 2: So I'm very much happy, very much appreciative of the
- 14:26Speaker 2: fact that I have a new pair of work boots
- 14:28Speaker 2: that I will be doing that work with this time around.
- 14:32Speaker 2: But I was talking about Will Campbell a little bit
- 14:35Speaker 2: ye and Jesson Brooklyn is the one who sent the
- 14:37Speaker 2: email in I believe I heard on PU or elsewhere
- 14:41Speaker 2: that Will Campbell was playing to stick around Foxborough leading
- 14:44Speaker 2: up to camp, and I'm wondering what that means and
- 14:46Speaker 2: what are the rules in terms of contact between players
- 14:48Speaker 2: who stay in town in Patriots staff. Is Campbell allowed
- 14:51Speaker 2: to work out at the stadium under the guidance of
- 14:53Speaker 2: the Patriots strength and conditioning coaches or does he have
- 14:56Speaker 2: to use another facility in private trainers. Is he allowed
- 14:59Speaker 2: to go into the team's film archives and watch tape
- 15:01Speaker 2: or is that prohibited. Obviously, many young players want to
- 15:04Speaker 2: take steps to get a leg up, but the Players
- 15:07Speaker 2: Association doesn't want them feeling pressure to skip their time
- 15:09Speaker 2: off to grind at the facility. So in the time
- 15:12Speaker 2: between mini camp and training, camp Evan, the facilities and
- 15:15Speaker 2: some staff available to players or the doors locked.
- 15:18Speaker 5: No, yeah, they can. They can work out here for sure,
- 15:21Speaker 5: and a lot of players often do. And with the rookies.
- 15:26Speaker 5: The rookies are actually still in a developmental camp type
- 15:30Speaker 5: of phase right now with the team. So I'm pretty
- 15:33Speaker 5: sure all the rookies are still here, not not just
- 15:36Speaker 5: Will Campbell, and they will continue to do work. Now
- 15:40Speaker 5: they won't there's restrictions in terms of coaching, like they
- 15:43Speaker 5: can't be on the field with Mike Rabel right now.
- 15:46Speaker 5: I don't believe, but it's a very it's similar to
- 15:49Speaker 5: like the very beginning of the OTA Yeah circuit.
- 15:52Speaker 2: That's there's no on field work, right you had it? Absolutely? Yeah,
- 15:56Speaker 2: they can be here and it's time, you know, if
- 15:58Speaker 2: they and they're not pressured to be here. I think
- 16:01Speaker 2: this is probably an individual case by case basis, but
- 16:05Speaker 2: there's no on no matter what, there's no on field
- 16:08Speaker 2: work with the coaches. If they want to be out
- 16:09Speaker 2: there working out on their own, yeah, Will Campbell's like
- 16:12Speaker 2: banging a sled around or something like that, that's his prerogative,
- 16:15Speaker 2: I would imagine, But no actual practice time on the field,
- 16:21Speaker 2: no for any of the plays.
- 16:22Speaker 5: No, but film room, weight room, all that stuff is
- 16:27Speaker 5: open and in fair game, you often see veteran players
- 16:30Speaker 5: that are rehabbing injuries will either be here all the
- 16:33Speaker 5: time or check in or whatever the case may be
- 16:35Speaker 5: as well. So there's rules about that too that if
- 16:38Speaker 5: you're coming off an injury and you need you know,
- 16:41Speaker 5: treatment and that sort of thing, then obviously you're permitted
- 16:43Speaker 5: to come to the facility as well. So no, it's
- 16:46Speaker 5: not like they put a big dead bolt on the
- 16:48Speaker 5: door and say nobody allowed in.
- 16:50Speaker 2: So we're, you know, we're winding our way toward July.
- 16:54Speaker 2: So you know, once July starts, that means training camp
- 16:58Speaker 2: starts this month, you know, and we're just you know,
- 17:01Speaker 2: now what four and a half five weeks away, you know,
- 17:05Speaker 2: from the start of training camp. What give me your
- 17:10Speaker 2: the I'm gonna ask you two different questions. I want
- 17:13Speaker 2: to ask you what you feel the best about right now?
- 17:15Speaker 2: Position wise, position group, you know best best about the team,
- 17:20Speaker 2: And obviously the flip side of that, what do you
- 17:22Speaker 2: feel the worst.
- 17:23Speaker 5: About I would say best right now, it's probably close
- 17:28Speaker 5: between the cornerback room and the defensive line. I think
- 17:31Speaker 5: both those units at least in terms of the starters.
- 17:34Speaker 5: You know, the frontline guys on both those units I
- 17:37Speaker 5: think is going to be really good for this team.
- 17:41Speaker 5: The duo of Gonzales and Carl Davis is as good
- 17:45Speaker 5: as they've had probably since what you know, maybe Stefan
- 17:50Speaker 5: Gilmour and whoever was opposite of him, you know, at
- 17:54Speaker 5: different times, maybe going all the way back to like
- 17:57Speaker 5: Revis and Browner, right like that. That kind of group
- 18:00Speaker 5: like that that good. So I'm very optimistic about that.
- 18:04Speaker 5: And you just talk about all the schematic things that
- 18:07Speaker 5: you can do when you have two lockdown corners and
- 18:09Speaker 5: how that freeze guys up in the box to blitz
- 18:12Speaker 5: and do different things and things like that is intriguing.
- 18:15Speaker 5: The worst about or just the most concerned the offensive line,
- 18:19Speaker 5: I still think is a big question mark with this team.
- 18:22Speaker 5: It's better on paper than it was last year, and
- 18:26Speaker 5: they certainly they've rebuilt it. You know, they have two
- 18:29Speaker 5: new tackles, they have a new starting center. They're going
- 18:33Speaker 5: to have someone at left guard that maybe wasn't here
- 18:35Speaker 5: or didn't start last year. So it's not the only
- 18:38Speaker 5: guy that's coming back that is guaranteed that starting spot
- 18:41Speaker 5: is on winning so it's not like they haven't done
- 18:43Speaker 5: work there. Yep, it's just unknown right now. You know
- 18:45Speaker 5: how good is Will Cambill gonna be? Is Morgan Moses
- 18:48Speaker 5: going to continue to age like fine wine or is
- 18:50Speaker 5: that going to finally catch up to him? Garrett Bradbury
- 18:54Speaker 5: had some concerns and some questions. You know, Minnesota cut him,
- 18:57Speaker 5: moves on from him. So I still think think it's better,
- 19:01Speaker 5: but it's not where it needs to be.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I would totally agree with your concern.
- 19:07Speaker 2: I think it's got to be the offensive line. I
- 19:10Speaker 2: think if any real I agree with you. On paper,
- 19:13Speaker 2: they've improved it, but it's still a work in progress,
- 19:16Speaker 2: So that would be my number one concern. I like
- 19:18Speaker 2: the two that you chose for you, the things you
- 19:21Speaker 2: feel the best about. I'm going to go in a
- 19:23Speaker 2: little slightly different direction, and it's kind of a leap
- 19:26Speaker 2: of faith a little bit. But I really like the
- 19:30Speaker 2: idea because we didn't see it like actually play out.
- 19:34Speaker 2: But I like the idea of where Drake may looks
- 19:38Speaker 2: to be right now. Yeah, I think that there was
- 19:40Speaker 2: a comfort level that I didn't necessarily see really at
- 19:44Speaker 2: any time last year. Now that makes a lot of sense.
- 19:46Speaker 2: He was a rookie. Last year, he was behind an
- 19:49Speaker 2: established veteran in Jacoby Brisset, who was going to be
- 19:52Speaker 2: the starter. It's all different this time around. He still
- 19:55Speaker 2: has a veteran backup, but he's the clear cut starter,
- 20:00Speaker 2: and I think that he looks like that. Again, it's
- 20:03Speaker 2: not based on anything I saw from him physically. I
- 20:06Speaker 2: didn't see the offense look particularly good, really at all.
- 20:09Speaker 2: There was one day, I want to say, the first
- 20:13Speaker 2: day of mini camp that I actually wasn't there that
- 20:15Speaker 2: by all accounts you guys said the offense looked terrific.
- 20:19Speaker 2: There was one of the OTAs which I was at
- 20:22Speaker 2: all the OTAs, where he made a handful of really
- 20:25Speaker 2: really exceptional throws. But I wouldn't say necessarily the offense
- 20:28Speaker 2: was great on that particular day. He just was exceptional
- 20:32Speaker 2: three or four times. The one in particular that he
- 20:34Speaker 2: sort of slid around the pocket, moved up, climbed the
- 20:36Speaker 2: pocket and just threw an absolute dime. I think to
- 20:39Speaker 2: Booty was the one that really stood out to me.
- 20:42Speaker 2: I just feel like Drake May and Josh McDaniels looked
- 20:47Speaker 2: to be on the same page, and that's me has
- 20:51Speaker 2: me the most optimistic about what I've seen so far.
- 20:53Speaker 5: And it's encouraging too. From just a little bit that
- 20:56Speaker 5: we've seen, a lot of it is going to be
- 21:00Speaker 5: recognizable in terms of the scheme of what they're doing
- 21:02Speaker 5: with Josh McDaniels. But I have seen some different things
- 21:05Speaker 5: that in the spring that are clearly catered to the
- 21:11Speaker 5: fact that he has a quarterback with a different skill
- 21:13Speaker 5: set now in Drake May. And you see a lot
- 21:15Speaker 5: more moving pockets, for instance, Like you're not running bootlegs
- 21:19Speaker 5: with Mac Jones and Tom Brady, like that's just not
- 21:22Speaker 5: going to be a big part of your offense, but
- 21:25Speaker 5: it might be a bigger part of the offense with
- 21:27Speaker 5: Drake May. So you see some of the adaptations or
- 21:30Speaker 5: just the shifts that they're doing schematically to fit with
- 21:33Speaker 5: Drake May. And I think that that was a question
- 21:36Speaker 5: when they hired McDaniels, was he going to be stubborn
- 21:39Speaker 5: and was he going to put Drake May in the
- 21:41Speaker 5: Brady system and make him into Tom Brady and force
- 21:45Speaker 5: him into that kind of scheme that doesn't amplify his
- 21:48Speaker 5: athleticism and his traits and all that kind of stuff.
- 21:50Speaker 5: And so far, I don't. I think it will probably
- 21:53Speaker 5: be eighty five percent of it. But there's going to
- 21:56Speaker 5: be a Drake May seasoning to this that is going
- 22:00Speaker 5: to exist, and I think that's encouraging some of the
- 22:03Speaker 5: things that they were doing and the red zone work,
- 22:06Speaker 5: especially towards the end of the spring. We're really encouraging,
- 22:10Speaker 5: you know, some of the shotgun stuff and maybe some
- 22:13Speaker 5: quarterback run and things like that. I mean, that's that's
- 22:16Speaker 5: what you got to do. Like that, that's the type
- 22:18Speaker 5: of player you have now back there. So overall, I
- 22:23Speaker 5: don't know how you can't be optimistic about the climb,
- 22:26Speaker 5: Like it started out a little bit rocky, and then
- 22:28Speaker 5: at every practice it just kind of felt like Drake
- 22:31Speaker 5: May looked a little bit more comfortable with every checkpoint
- 22:34Speaker 5: that we had along the spring, and so hopefully you
- 22:36Speaker 5: get into it in the summertime and that just continues.
- 22:39Speaker 5: I mean, it's not gonna be every day, it is
- 22:40Speaker 5: not going to be great, but hopefully it's a it's
- 22:43Speaker 5: a steady climb.
- 22:44Speaker 2: And I was listening to one of our colleagues, Andrew
- 22:46Speaker 2: Callahan this morning locally here in Boston on the Sports Hub,
- 22:50Speaker 2: and you know, one of the things that he said
- 22:53Speaker 2: that I really agree with. In regards to Josh Is,
- 22:57Speaker 2: I think I have more confidence in him being able
- 23:01Speaker 2: to alleviate our biggest fear of the offensive line, because
- 23:05Speaker 2: he's not going to allow that to sort of derail
- 23:08Speaker 2: the whole offense. He's going to work around and scheme
- 23:10Speaker 2: around it quick, you know, quick throws, timing throws. Now,
- 23:13Speaker 2: it's going to be incumbent upon Drake May and the
- 23:15Speaker 2: receivers to make sure that they're able to operate like that,
- 23:19Speaker 2: because I do not have any illusions that it's going
- 23:22Speaker 2: to look like it did with Tom Brady, because I
- 23:24Speaker 2: think Tom Brady was exceptional at covering up for you know,
- 23:28Speaker 2: suspect offensive line play at times. I don't know if
- 23:31Speaker 2: Drake May will be able to do that, but I
- 23:33Speaker 2: do know that Josh McDaniels will read and recognize where
- 23:36Speaker 2: those issues are and work around them better, I think
- 23:40Speaker 2: than they did last year with Alex van Pelt, who
- 23:43Speaker 2: wanted to sort of be a little bit more deliberate
- 23:45Speaker 2: and take some shots, you know, some slower developing play action.
- 23:50Speaker 2: That's how they wanted to hit big plays last year.
- 23:53Speaker 2: They just didn't have the protection to do it.
- 23:55Speaker 5: Yeah, they have. You know, there's a lot of different
- 23:57Speaker 5: things that you can do to help an offensive line,
- 23:59Speaker 5: but I think the most important thing you can really
- 24:02Speaker 5: cover up one week spot on the offensive line, like
- 24:05Speaker 5: if you have if you know that, let's just say
- 24:08Speaker 5: left guard because that's sort of the position right now
- 24:10Speaker 5: we're all talking about. If you know that left guard
- 24:13Speaker 5: is gonna be a little bit of a target for
- 24:15Speaker 5: defenses and a little bit of a weak spot for you. Like,
- 24:18Speaker 5: there's obviously a million things that you can do to
- 24:20Speaker 5: help out the left guard, you know, like you know,
- 24:23Speaker 5: putting him in the slide side of the center is
- 24:25Speaker 5: helping him on every single player that whatever the case
- 24:28Speaker 5: may be. So like you can do those types of things,
- 24:30Speaker 5: And I just think McDaniels has shown a really good
- 24:34Speaker 5: grasp of that of understanding protections and understanding where threats
- 24:38Speaker 5: are and where their weak spots are and how to
- 24:41Speaker 5: cover those things up. It's one of his better traits
- 24:43Speaker 5: that goes unnoticed because it's kind of in the weeds,
- 24:45Speaker 5: but it's something that I think he's really good at.
- 24:48Speaker 5: And Doug Maron being here as well is not lost
- 24:51Speaker 5: on me. That's a guy that's been coaching offensive line
- 24:53Speaker 5: for twenty twenty five years as an experienced coach. It's
- 24:57Speaker 5: it's not a first time offensive line coach like Scott
- 25:00Speaker 5: Peters was last year running the room for the very
- 25:03Speaker 5: first time. So last year you had a first time
- 25:07Speaker 5: full time play caller in Augs Van Pelt and a
- 25:10Speaker 5: first time head offensive line coach in Scott Peters. This
- 25:13Speaker 5: is the opposite of that. This is as much experience
- 25:16Speaker 5: as you could have in those two roles as probably
- 25:19Speaker 5: any team in the league. So that's encouraging if they
- 25:22Speaker 5: do have to work around it. And I go back
- 25:24Speaker 5: to that twenty one season with McDaniels, it wasn't like
- 25:27Speaker 5: they had prime Randy mausin Goronk at the skill positions,
- 25:31Speaker 5: and they were still above average offense for most of
- 25:34Speaker 5: the season.
- 25:34Speaker 2: They worked around the limitations that they had. Yeah, and
- 25:37Speaker 2: there were limitations. Remember the rookie quarterback, obviously, and a
- 25:40Speaker 2: rookie quarterback who didn't have the athleticism that Drake May
- 25:44Speaker 2: has and certainly didn't have the arm strength that Drake
- 25:46Speaker 2: May has. So I'm excited. That's why, that's one of
- 25:49Speaker 2: the things that I think I'm most optimistic about. So
- 25:52Speaker 2: we gave you a couple of things on both sides
- 25:54Speaker 2: of the ledger. So I'm curious to what you guys think.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Give us a call again. H eight five five pats
- 26:02Speaker 2: five hundred. Uh, the emails are coming in a little bit,
- 26:05Speaker 2: Jackie and ann arbor Is. He's sad. He's sad that
- 26:08Speaker 2: there's no Fred. But don't worry about Evan. He's still
- 26:11Speaker 2: with us. I'm still gonna watch the show. Carry on.
- 26:14Speaker 2: So we do appreciate.
- 26:15Speaker 5: Carry on or carry on.
- 26:16Speaker 2: Oh that's a good point. Yeah, yeah, he might. He
- 26:19Speaker 2: might need to be a little bit more.
- 26:20Speaker 5: Uh is it a carry on? A little bit more
- 26:24Speaker 5: more carrying on with the show?
- 26:27Speaker 2: Uh? Yeah, I love the emails coming in. I'm gonna
- 26:30Speaker 2: have to have a I'm gonna pull a Fred here
- 26:32Speaker 2: and I'm gonna have to have a chance to read
- 26:34Speaker 2: him before I know, I get into all of them.
- 26:36Speaker 2: But yeah, it's nice. It's nice. The interaction on a
- 26:39Speaker 2: steamy Tuesday afternoon.
- 26:42Speaker 5: Do you love it though? You love that it's one
- 26:44Speaker 5: hundred degrees out? You're not?
- 26:45Speaker 2: Yeah, one hundred might be a little bit strong, But
- 26:48Speaker 2: I did you know last week we had the holiday
- 26:50Speaker 2: on Thursday and it was pretty hot that day. It
- 26:54Speaker 2: was in the nineties and we golfed. You know, I
- 26:56Speaker 2: played a quick eighteen. It was beautiful. I was not
- 26:59Speaker 2: complaining about it. Was the first time I golfed all
- 27:01Speaker 2: year with my nose wasn't running there you go, So
- 27:04Speaker 2: I took that as a plus. Now, what else wasn't
- 27:07Speaker 2: running was that the Birdie train was not running either.
- 27:10Speaker 2: I missed it, So that was that was tough.
- 27:13Speaker 5: Our building has a pool, and they finally opened the
- 27:16Speaker 5: pool for the season because your lovely city of Everett,
- 27:19Speaker 5: Paul has been dragging their feet on the permit for
- 27:24Speaker 5: the pool, approving the usage of the pool because you
- 27:28Speaker 5: know red Tape and your hometown.
- 27:30Speaker 2: There is a lot of hockey in that pool.
- 27:32Speaker 5: It's just crazy. So they they finally opened the pool.
- 27:37Speaker 5: And when you open a pool at a at a
- 27:40Speaker 5: big apartment complex like this, it's just I mean, the
- 27:43Speaker 5: amount of people at the pool last last weekend was
- 27:46Speaker 5: just insane. I mean, you couldn't you couldn't get a
- 27:49Speaker 5: spot by the pool at all. But last Thursday we
- 27:53Speaker 5: were off because of Juneteenth, which a lot of people
- 27:55Speaker 5: asking why we didn't have a show last week, and
- 27:57Speaker 5: that that was why it was a Federal Hall day.
- 28:00Speaker 5: But it was great. We sat by by the pool
- 28:02Speaker 5: for a little bit. It's very nice. I suck it,
- 28:05Speaker 5: sucked it up for Jess for like a couple hours
- 28:08Speaker 5: in the heat, and it was cool.
- 28:09Speaker 2: You got time for a game.
- 28:11Speaker 5: Yeah, let's do it.
- 28:12Speaker 2: We gotta, we gotta. Would you rather from Kyle in Pembroke,
- 28:17Speaker 2: Let's see, would you rather go tubing on a lake
- 28:21Speaker 2: or to a water park?
- 28:25Speaker 5: I'm a lake guy. I grew up on lakes, so
- 28:27Speaker 5: tubing on a lake.
- 28:29Speaker 2: I think I would go with the lake too. Yeah,
- 28:31Speaker 2: I can do whatever I want, Whereas the water park
- 28:34Speaker 2: you're stuck in lines. I like water parks. I like
- 28:36Speaker 2: water parks better than I like both of those. Yeah,
- 28:39Speaker 2: but I think I would go with the lake.
- 28:41Speaker 5: Winnipesaki Action.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Would you rather have burgers and hot dogs or sausages
- 28:45Speaker 2: in a pull pork sandwich? Had a cookout?
- 28:47Speaker 5: Burgers and hot dogs?
- 28:48Speaker 2: Me too.
- 28:48Speaker 5: I feel like sausage in a pull pork is it's
- 28:51Speaker 5: a lot for a cookout. Like if you're at a
- 28:53Speaker 5: barbecue spot, then obviously that's different. But that if you're
- 28:56Speaker 5: at a cookout, you're socializing, you're drinking, you know, and
- 28:59Speaker 5: you don't need all that.
- 29:00Speaker 2: So now, luckily, if you happen to be one of
- 29:03Speaker 2: the chosen fewd that's invited to TJ's graduation party over
- 29:06Speaker 2: the weekend, you get both because we will have both.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Watch Would you rather watch a movie on a projector
- 29:12Speaker 2: outside or have a fire.
- 29:15Speaker 5: Oh hmm, that's a tough one. I'm gonna go. I'm
- 29:21Speaker 5: gonna go with movie. I Like, we were both movie guys,
- 29:24Speaker 5: so I'm gonna go movie.
- 29:25Speaker 2: I would go, yeah, Jaws, but any other I'm not
- 29:28Speaker 2: like a huge like, Oh, let's let's get a fire,
- 29:30Speaker 2: go and sit outside the end, like, especially if it's
- 29:32Speaker 2: like a real fire, like I have a like one
- 29:34Speaker 2: of those fire pits that's gas. So you don't end
- 29:38Speaker 2: up stinking at the end of the night.
- 29:39Speaker 5: Well, you get eaten by the mesquite but.
- 29:41Speaker 2: You get a good fire. You know that someone starts
- 29:44Speaker 2: and then it's great to sit around, and then the
- 29:46Speaker 2: next day you're weak, you know. So that's used to do.
- 29:49Speaker 5: That a lot in in high school, and we'd all
- 29:52Speaker 5: come out. My clothes would come home wreaking of the
- 29:54Speaker 5: of the fire, not of anything else, just to the fire. Yeah, sure,
- 29:58Speaker 5: And it was it was always a good cover up though,
- 30:00Speaker 5: for for what else?
- 30:01Speaker 2: Kyle's got a couple more here travel Cape questions.
- 30:05Speaker 7: These are some softball would you rather is?
- 30:06Speaker 2: Oh my god, I like it? You know what? You
- 30:10Speaker 2: don't want them? No? No, no, go for it. I
- 30:11Speaker 2: mean they just travel to Cape Cod or to Maine. Yeah,
- 30:14Speaker 2: he's giving your things that he wants to do, not
- 30:16Speaker 2: you know, like would you rather?
- 30:18Speaker 5: You know, I would say, I mean, you know, I'm
- 30:23Speaker 5: a vineyard guy, so I would probably guess I'd lean.
- 30:27Speaker 5: I lean towards the cave because it's it's the closest thing.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I would go Cape. I would go Cape as well.
- 30:33Speaker 5: I'm not a huge Cape guy though.
- 30:36Speaker 8: Uh.
- 30:36Speaker 2: And the last one is the age old question beach
- 30:39Speaker 2: or pool, So I'd probably say pool because I'm not.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Pool is definitely the answer.
- 30:47Speaker 5: Sand is just not my best friend. But I would
- 30:50Speaker 5: love to be at a pool by a beach, so
- 30:53Speaker 5: that if I wanted to go down to the beach
- 30:55Speaker 5: for a little bit, you can. But I can't. I
- 30:58Speaker 5: can't sit on a beach for a long time, like
- 31:00Speaker 5: I just it does not for me too much.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Sand. Yeah, I mean I I don't mind the beach
- 31:06Speaker 2: that much, but it's it's it's a lot. Yeah, it's
- 31:10Speaker 2: like you drag everything to the beach. You know, you
- 31:13Speaker 2: you get all the sand, you're dirty. You gotta get
- 31:15Speaker 2: a shower when you don't like the pool. Just like
- 31:18Speaker 2: you walk out, You're right there. You got everything you need,
- 31:20Speaker 2: you got your music, you got your food, you got
- 31:22Speaker 2: everything you need is right at the pool. And as
- 31:26Speaker 2: you know, fiftieth anniversary, you have no fear of get
- 31:31Speaker 2: eaten by a shark in my pool.
- 31:33Speaker 5: Well we can surprise Deuce. I was gonna surprise both
- 31:36Speaker 5: of you. But apparently in Oak Bluff's right now, there
- 31:40Speaker 5: is a replica Orca at the dock that's sitting there
- 31:43Speaker 5: in for the fiftieth anniversary.
- 31:46Speaker 2: So like, well, you know, Richard Dreyfs was at the
- 31:48Speaker 2: harbor of you yesterday right over the weekend. Maybe yeah, yeah,
- 31:52Speaker 2: So I'm gonna go big time.
- 31:53Speaker 5: I take a picture on the orca for you guys.
- 31:57Speaker 5: And you know, I know I'm the biggest Jaws fan
- 32:00Speaker 5: in here, so that makes sense that it would be me.
- 32:01Speaker 2: So I'm going to try to sort of weave in
- 32:03Speaker 2: and out of the nonsense. And Kyle, thanks for the
- 32:07Speaker 2: despite Alex's protest, that was good. That was good nonsense,
- 32:11Speaker 2: good summer fodder, you know, not like would you rather
- 32:15Speaker 2: you know, you know, eat a goat or you know whatever,
- 32:19Speaker 2: like good things. We want ice cream or fruit, you know,
- 32:22Speaker 2: like watermelon. You know that's good stuff. Good choices, No,
- 32:27Speaker 2: no wrong answers.
- 32:28Speaker 5: There's a wrong answer to that.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Well, we'll have some. We'll have some football as well.
- 32:32Speaker 2: And let's see it's Curtison, Curtis and Saint Louis. If
- 32:36Speaker 2: you were making the I'll direct this right at you,
- 32:38Speaker 2: even though he doesn't. Okay, if you were making the calls, Evan, Yes,
- 32:42Speaker 2: are there any free agents out there that or possible
- 32:46Speaker 2: trade that would make you that you would want to
- 32:48Speaker 2: make heading into training camp?
- 32:50Speaker 5: That's a good question.
- 32:53Speaker 2: He throws some names out there that I don't think
- 32:55Speaker 2: you'd be interested in at this point. Jude on Gilmour Clowney.
- 32:58Speaker 5: No, I'm not too interested in the free age market.
- 33:01Speaker 5: Like I don't think anybody that really catches my eye
- 33:04Speaker 5: that's left that's going to move the needle. Terry Mccaorran
- 33:08Speaker 5: would be awesome. I think that one is maybe even
- 33:12Speaker 5: more far fetched. But like Terry Mccaorran, I would obviously
- 33:17Speaker 5: offer what you got to offer to get a player
- 33:19Speaker 5: like that. I do like the idea of somebody like
- 33:21Speaker 5: Trey Hendrickson, you know, but I think that it had
- 33:23Speaker 5: it have to you'd have to line up like a
- 33:27Speaker 5: two year deal with him and like a.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Lot of moving parts. But yeah, I would definitely be
- 33:32Speaker 2: interested in something like.
- 33:33Speaker 5: That, right because I do think that that's the one
- 33:35Speaker 5: spot on the edge that they could really use a
- 33:39Speaker 5: dude there, Like, they could really use a guy that
- 33:41Speaker 5: can draw some attention and they can win a one
- 33:44Speaker 5: on one and consistently, and he's a great player. So
- 33:47Speaker 5: I would probably say other than McLaurin, I probably say
- 33:51Speaker 5: Trey Hendrickson. But I don't know how that lines up,
- 33:54Speaker 5: Like I don't know how that lines up for both parties.
- 33:56Speaker 5: That he wants to be here, he's signing a contract here,
- 33:59Speaker 5: I don't know how that lies.
- 34:01Speaker 2: He throws Zion Johnson out there as a potential trade guy.
- 34:04Speaker 2: I think he's going into the last year of his deal. Again,
- 34:08Speaker 2: a lot of moving parts with some of those things.
- 34:11Speaker 2: His second question, if you could add any ex Patriot
- 34:16Speaker 2: and insert them on this current roster, who would you add.
- 34:18Speaker 2: The only rule is it can't be Brady.
- 34:20Speaker 5: Can't be Brady. We've answered this question before, and I
- 34:24Speaker 5: feel like my answer is the same. I would still
- 34:26Speaker 5: say Randy Moss, like I still feel.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Like Moss is. It's a good answer to that question.
- 34:31Speaker 5: I think it's between Gronk or Moss. And obviously Gronk
- 34:34Speaker 5: is Gronk and he's unreal, but you at least have
- 34:38Speaker 5: an NFL caliber tight end and Hunter Henry. Like Hunter
- 34:40Speaker 5: Henry is a good player. He's not Gronk, but he's
- 34:43Speaker 5: a good player. You don't have anything on this team
- 34:47Speaker 5: close to Randy Moss, So I would say Randy Moss
- 34:51Speaker 5: for that reason. It just balances everything out a little
- 34:55Speaker 5: bit nicely. Whereas with Gronk and Henry, now you're probably
- 34:59Speaker 5: your two most consistent pass catchers are both tight ends.
- 35:02Speaker 8: You know.
- 35:03Speaker 2: So Justin in New Hampshire is soft like you, Evan,
- 35:06Speaker 2: He says, maybe it's the New England or to me,
- 35:07Speaker 2: but I'd much rather be sitting in forty three degree
- 35:09Speaker 2: weather right now than this ninety degree heat. Yeah, I
- 35:13Speaker 2: disagree with you.
- 35:14Speaker 5: Soft now. I'm soft like sixty five and sunny is
- 35:17Speaker 5: the sweet spot. That's the best weather right there, not
- 35:20Speaker 5: too hot, not too cold. That's ideal weather, but this
- 35:24Speaker 5: I don't mind summer when I just don't mind. I
- 35:28Speaker 5: mind extreme heat like today today is too much.
- 35:32Speaker 2: So I guess this is something you brought up. This
- 35:34Speaker 2: is from Chad in La maybe something you and Alex
- 35:38Speaker 2: talked about on a recent edition of Catch twenty two. Yes,
- 35:43Speaker 2: because he directs it mostly to you, but hopefully it
- 35:45Speaker 2: invokes a longer discussion. On Catch twenty two, Evan't talked
- 35:48Speaker 2: about the right side of the offensive line being about
- 35:50Speaker 2: nine hundred pounds of human meat, which that can only
- 35:53Speaker 2: be a phrase that you would say.
- 35:54Speaker 5: Yes, I mean it's just a bunch of hog.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Or as the left side being both undetermined in lighter. Yeah,
- 36:01Speaker 2: My question is is the lights left side lighter for
- 36:04Speaker 2: mobility purposes and preparation for May's running ability? Will he
- 36:07Speaker 2: most likely run to the left? Any further reasoning and
- 36:09Speaker 2: discussion would be appreciated. I just off the top of
- 36:14Speaker 2: my head, I would say no, I don't necessarily think
- 36:16Speaker 2: that's anything that is intentional.
- 36:18Speaker 5: Yeah, I would agree. I think that it's just the
- 36:20Speaker 5: way it kind of worked out. The players that are
- 36:22Speaker 5: available and the players that you get you can't It
- 36:25Speaker 5: would have been great if we could have stretched out
- 36:27Speaker 5: Will Campbell to have thirty four inch arms in an
- 36:30Speaker 5: eighty inch wing span, but he doesn't have that. So
- 36:33Speaker 5: this is the players that you're dealt with. But it
- 36:35Speaker 5: was just something that we were talking about on catch
- 36:37Speaker 5: because it's a combination of you know, Cam who's ever
- 36:42Speaker 5: next to Campbell, but also who's ever next to Bradbury
- 36:44Speaker 5: at left guard too, Bradbury being a smaller center as well,
- 36:48Speaker 5: and if you just look at measurables and things like that,
- 36:52Speaker 5: Cole Strange has always been a little bit more on
- 36:54Speaker 5: the lighter side for an interior player. He's a little
- 36:57Speaker 5: bit higher cut too, is not exactly a a cinder blocker,
- 37:01Speaker 5: like a low center gravity kind of guy. So if
- 37:03Speaker 5: you're gonna put him next to Campbell, I just watching
- 37:06Speaker 5: it out at training camera out at a spring practices,
- 37:09Speaker 5: like you could see the difference in like girth, like
- 37:14Speaker 5: with of the line on the right side versus the
- 37:16Speaker 5: left side. It was pretty obvious actually to the just
- 37:19Speaker 5: to the you know, the naked eye just seeing it,
- 37:22Speaker 5: and so I just wonder if that comes into play.
- 37:25Speaker 5: I'm not saying it's the end all be all, but
- 37:28Speaker 5: you know, Caden Walls is a little bit bigger of
- 37:30Speaker 5: a guy. You know, he's a little wider, he's a
- 37:31Speaker 5: little stockier. Jared Wilson's a little bit bigger, stockier as well.
- 37:35Speaker 5: You know, City So is certainly bigger. He's like six
- 37:38Speaker 5: four three twenty bigger guy. You know, Does that come
- 37:40Speaker 5: into play at all? That next to a guy that
- 37:43Speaker 5: has arm length, wingspan, question marks and a smaller center
- 37:46Speaker 5: in Bradbury? Do you want like a wide bodied left
- 37:50Speaker 5: guard that can take up some point?
- 37:52Speaker 2: Make an argument both ways and I think you just did. Yeah,
- 37:55Speaker 2: what you know, the pros and cons. Again, I don't
- 37:58Speaker 2: necessarily think that. I mean, maybe I'm wrong, but I
- 38:01Speaker 2: don't think teams necessarily go about putting their lines together
- 38:07Speaker 2: with a size. I mean they might have a style
- 38:10Speaker 2: that they want. Yeah, And you know, like Bill Parcells.
- 38:15Speaker 2: When Bill Parcells first came to New England, they had
- 38:17Speaker 2: a former first round pick left tackle in Pat Harlow.
- 38:22Speaker 2: I think he played right tackle at the time, because
- 38:24Speaker 2: I think Armstrong was still here. He wasn't He was
- 38:28Speaker 2: a pretty good player. Pat Harlow was a pretty good
- 38:30Speaker 2: player for the Patriots. Wasn't Parcells kind of tackle a
- 38:34Speaker 2: little bit angular and not as broad. I think Bill
- 38:38Speaker 2: liked big road graders.
- 38:41Speaker 8: You know.
- 38:41Speaker 2: But yeah, and it wasn't his kind of guy that
- 38:45Speaker 2: I could understand. You know, if the coach has a
- 38:47Speaker 2: specific style, it wouldn't make any sense to me, like
- 38:50Speaker 2: he wants a specific style a big guy on one
- 38:52Speaker 2: side and a more athletic, smaller build on the other side.
- 38:56Speaker 2: That to me, I don't think would be by design.
- 38:58Speaker 2: It just kind of working out that way.
- 39:00Speaker 5: Yeah, Like I don't know if it was by design,
- 39:02Speaker 5: but you know when they were humming in the heyday
- 39:04Speaker 5: that this the line was Jack Mason and Marcus Cannon
- 39:08Speaker 5: on one side and big guys Tuney and Soldier on
- 39:11Speaker 5: the other side who are more athletic, more you know,
- 39:14Speaker 5: of the slimmer type. So it's not something that's that
- 39:17Speaker 5: different from that sort of thing, I suppose, But Moses
- 39:21Speaker 5: on and on whenu are monsters like those, you know,
- 39:24Speaker 5: especially in terms of height Moses, but like both of
- 39:27Speaker 5: them are just a lot of weight and a lot
- 39:29Speaker 5: of sand on that right side, whereas the left side
- 39:32Speaker 5: just was smaller, noticeably smaller. So we'll see if that
- 39:35Speaker 5: as a factor, But it might help, especially on the inside,
- 39:39Speaker 5: if you had somebody next to Bradberry, like if you
- 39:41Speaker 5: had on Wenu and let's just say he earns it
- 39:43Speaker 5: in like city. So or your two starting guards on
- 39:46Speaker 5: either side of of Bradbury, like you have an anchor there,
- 39:50Speaker 5: Like you have some two guys that have some play
- 39:52Speaker 5: strength and some girth to them which might help.
- 39:56Speaker 2: So I asked a little while ago for people to
- 39:58Speaker 2: start sending in. But they are excited about and what
- 40:02Speaker 2: they're concerned about, and this isn't necessarily related to that.
- 40:05Speaker 2: We have some emails coming in which I will read
- 40:08Speaker 2: in a little bit, but Pete and Seattle a little
- 40:11Speaker 2: bit of a different take on something that might be concerning.
- 40:14Speaker 2: He says, it's been a bit since we've talked about
- 40:16Speaker 2: win loss predictions. In May. I think it was natural
- 40:19Speaker 2: that most of the Boston media was hyper focused on
- 40:22Speaker 2: just the Patriots and their high off season grades when
- 40:24Speaker 2: those kinds of things were evaluated. Two thoughts come to mind.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Many other teams that the Patriots will play also received
- 40:32Speaker 2: very high off season grades, and he gives an example
- 40:34Speaker 2: of the Raiders. He also says that other teams faced
- 40:37Speaker 2: a slew of injuries last year that they may not
- 40:40Speaker 2: face this year, and one of the examples for that
- 40:42Speaker 2: is the Dolphins. So with that in mind, which of
- 40:45Speaker 2: the twenty twenty five MATCHUPSV do you think most fans
- 40:48Speaker 2: are underestimating due to the opponent's' results from last year
- 40:52Speaker 2: and or how good their off season was. Love the
- 40:55Speaker 2: work you guys do. Thanks for your dedication and the
- 40:57Speaker 2: passion you bring day to day.
- 40:59Speaker 5: Thank you. That's a good question. I would agree with
- 41:03Speaker 5: him though, and in the broader picture as I think
- 41:06Speaker 5: about that that question, because this is what I've been saying,
- 41:09Speaker 5: Like the schedule looks what the schedule looks on paper today,
- 41:13Speaker 5: but who knows what the schedule is going to look
- 41:16Speaker 5: like in four or five months when the season starts.
- 41:18Speaker 5: Like some of these teams might end up being good
- 41:20Speaker 5: that we aren't expecting to be good. I don't know, Like,
- 41:23Speaker 5: is it possible that Aaron Rodgers finds a found of
- 41:26Speaker 5: youth in Pittsburgh and all of a sudden that September
- 41:29Speaker 5: game against Pittsburgh is a tough game, that's a really
- 41:32Speaker 5: good defense, it's a great pick. You know, Aaron Rodgers
- 41:35Speaker 5: is a player that night, I mean they was looked
- 41:39Speaker 5: like an MVP. Yeah, And if he has that kind
- 41:41Speaker 5: of game, then you're gonna look.
- 41:42Speaker 2: If you had told me after that game, that Thursday
- 41:44Speaker 2: night game, that he was going to have the season
- 41:46Speaker 2: that he had, I wouldn't have bought it. No, And
- 41:47Speaker 2: he because he looked good that night when he was
- 41:50Speaker 2: on his spot.
- 41:52Speaker 5: He can still throw it. He just doesn't move the
- 41:54Speaker 5: way that he used to move anymore. And he's I
- 41:57Speaker 5: would also say, a little bit a frame to get
- 42:00Speaker 5: hit at times in the pocket too, more than just
- 42:04Speaker 5: and that those two things stood out to me. But
- 42:06Speaker 5: watching him and when he sees man to man coverage
- 42:09Speaker 5: and he has a bucket to throw the you know,
- 42:11Speaker 5: to drop a ball into a bucket and a window,
- 42:14Speaker 5: like he can still do that at a very high level.
- 42:17Speaker 5: He just wasn't as mobile, and he wasn't as you know,
- 42:19Speaker 5: playmakery and gun slingery like we've seen in his MVP years,
- 42:23Speaker 5: But especially that early on in the season, before the
- 42:26Speaker 5: wear and tear starts to catch up to him. Like
- 42:28Speaker 5: there's a very good chance you might see a pretty
- 42:31Speaker 5: good version of Aaron Rodgers against you know, Pittsburgh that
- 42:33Speaker 5: early in the year.
- 42:34Speaker 2: All right, so you know what's going to happen. Now,
- 42:36Speaker 2: it's been a while since I've had to man the phone.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Our buddy Nate and Connecticut, who's been a very regular
- 42:43Speaker 2: caller as of late, is going to be first up
- 42:46Speaker 2: on the Patriots unfilter hotline. What's up Nate?
- 42:49Speaker 9: Hey, guys, can you guys hear me?
- 42:51Speaker 10: Well today?
- 42:51Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 42:52Speaker 5: Got it all right?
- 42:54Speaker 9: So my first thoughts I have store of a prediction
- 42:57Speaker 9: slash hot stake. So I believe this offseason we are
- 43:02Speaker 9: going to be trading Kendrick Bourne the forty nine ers
- 43:05Speaker 9: for like a late round draft pick. I'm thinking fourth
- 43:08Speaker 9: or fifth, you know, coming off that ACL last year,
- 43:13Speaker 9: he hasn't really been himself and I'm really thinking that
- 43:16Speaker 9: we can get we can get something off of him.
- 43:18Speaker 9: And and I know, you guys in like the past shows,
- 43:22Speaker 9: I think I touched twenty two have listed born In
- 43:24Speaker 9: Booty as a trade candidate, and I would rather trade
- 43:28Speaker 9: Bourne over Booty because I know Booty has more potential
- 43:32Speaker 9: and Bourne is sort of like his career is maybe
- 43:34Speaker 9: fading off. I know he had plus on the McDaniel's
- 43:38Speaker 9: side of things, but I don't. I don't think he's
- 43:41Speaker 9: going to be a Patriot this year.
- 43:43Speaker 5: Thank you guys, Thanks Sam.
- 43:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with I agree I think he could go.
- 43:47Speaker 2: I don't think he's getting a fourth or a fifth
- 43:48Speaker 2: round pick, no, no, but I agree with the premise
- 43:50Speaker 2: of me too. He's probably the.
- 43:53Speaker 5: Preferred one to go, and it's no offense to Kendrick Bourne,
- 43:55Speaker 5: but he's on the other side of thirty at this point,
- 43:58Speaker 5: he's had the major injury. He's the more expensive player
- 44:02Speaker 5: just contractually do about seven and a half eight million
- 44:05Speaker 5: dollars of a cap hit this year compared to Booty
- 44:07Speaker 5: on a rookie contract sixth round pick. So in all ways,
- 44:11Speaker 5: it kind of feels like Booty's arrow is pointing this
- 44:14Speaker 5: way potentially, and Bourne's arrows point in the other direction.
- 44:18Speaker 5: But everybody else knows that too, So why why are
- 44:21Speaker 5: they get I don't know if you're getting a fourth
- 44:22Speaker 5: or fifth. I think maybe you get a sixth maybe.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I would say even that's optimistic. I would say
- 44:28Speaker 2: probably a seventh, but maybe a pick swap six seventh
- 44:31Speaker 2: kind of deal. Next TEAMO. It doesn't say he doesn't
- 44:36Speaker 2: leave his name, but wants to know about some udfas
- 44:39Speaker 2: anyone standing out to you. Ev He wants to know
- 44:42Speaker 2: specifically if we've seen anything from Josh Minkins he says
- 44:45Speaker 2: he's fourth on the depth chart. There is really no
- 44:48Speaker 2: depth chart yet, so I wouldn't necessarily.
- 44:50Speaker 5: Yeah, so Mankins, I believe they're going to try him
- 44:54Speaker 5: out at corner. They're like, there's some rumors of him
- 44:57Speaker 5: maybe playing some more safety than corner in the NFL.
- 45:00Speaker 5: But I think that they're gonna keep him at corner
- 45:02Speaker 5: for the time being, just based off the spring. Maybe
- 45:05Speaker 5: maybe some slot, maybe some nickel corner in his future
- 45:08Speaker 5: as well. I didn't see him get a ton of
- 45:11Speaker 5: run with meaningful people around him, Like you know, there's
- 45:15Speaker 5: a lot more opportunity stuff during the spring, So I
- 45:18Speaker 5: don't know if he's necessarily in the cards yet. Obviously
- 45:22Speaker 5: we've talked a ton about e Fton Chisholm and lend Larrison,
- 45:25Speaker 5: like those are the two guys that are making the
- 45:27Speaker 5: most noise. But I would also say, like I still
- 45:29Speaker 5: feel like CJ. Dupree will have his say before we're
- 45:32Speaker 5: done here. He's a in line blocking tight end. That's
- 45:36Speaker 5: not going to be his time to shine in the spring,
- 45:39Speaker 5: like when we're in shorts and T shirts, it's not
- 45:41Speaker 5: gonna really be his his you know, setting to thrive
- 45:47Speaker 5: in So let's see when the pads come on if
- 45:50Speaker 5: Dupree can block his way onto the roster, which is
- 45:53Speaker 5: probably his best path. Other than that, I think the
- 45:56Speaker 5: only other guy that really is notable at this point
- 45:59Speaker 5: is Jack on the offensive lineman from Boston College who
- 46:02Speaker 5: can basically play anywhere on the line besides maybe center.
- 46:06Speaker 5: But he's a big Dude's like six seven three to forty.
- 46:09Speaker 5: Can play guard, can play tackle, can play muscle tight end,
- 46:12Speaker 5: jumbo tight end. So he's got a lot of versatility.
- 46:15Speaker 5: So he's an interesting player.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it's going to be interesting once the pads come on.
- 46:19Speaker 2: We'll see if you know, the Chisholms and the Larsons
- 46:21Speaker 2: can build off of whatever momentum they may or may
- 46:25Speaker 2: not have started to generate, you know, during the spring camps.
- 46:29Speaker 2: But yeah, there there, I mean there's a lot of them.
- 46:31Speaker 2: This I want to say, sixteen Is this sixteen udfas. Yeah,
- 46:36Speaker 2: I mean, like I was going to say, there's there's
- 46:38Speaker 2: more than two dozen when you combine the first year
- 46:40Speaker 2: of players, you know, guys like John Giles, my left
- 46:42Speaker 2: Battle those kinds of guys. Oh yeah, with the udfas.
- 46:45Speaker 8: So.
- 46:47Speaker 2: Long way of me saying they are going to be
- 46:49Speaker 2: one or two at least that make the roster, because
- 46:51Speaker 2: there's just sheer numbers. It would be hard not to.
- 46:55Speaker 2: I wanted this.
- 46:55Speaker 5: There's a chance not to cut off. But there's a
- 46:58Speaker 5: chance that there's more twenty twenty five udfas on the
- 47:02Speaker 5: Patriots roster than twenty twenty four draft picks that that
- 47:06Speaker 5: there's a chance. I'm not saying it's no, I don't
- 47:08Speaker 5: and I don't think it's ridiculous, but like Drake May
- 47:10Speaker 5: is pretty much the only twenty twenty four draft pick
- 47:13Speaker 5: that's like one hundred percent going to be here, and.
- 47:16Speaker 2: So you can make an argument for or against you know,
- 47:19Speaker 2: the Bakers and the Polks of the world, right for sure. Yeah.
- 47:23Speaker 2: I wanted to stick with the PU hotline though, and
- 47:26Speaker 2: go back to Connecticut to Colin. Colin, what do you
- 47:30Speaker 2: got today? Colin? See Colin? First one, the first one worked,
- 47:38Speaker 2: second one didn't. I'll go to Emory in Virginia, and
- 47:41Speaker 2: then if not, we we push away from the black.
- 47:45Speaker 2: There we go Emory. Thank you, my friend.
- 47:47Speaker 5: Always rely on memory.
- 47:49Speaker 8: I've got good out to me in gentlemen, Hey, is
- 47:51Speaker 8: this conversation. I'll just restricted to the OTAs and the
- 47:55Speaker 8: upcoming training camp.
- 47:58Speaker 2: No, you could, We could go any direct you want.
- 48:01Speaker 8: Okay, thank you, Hey, listen, I got a question at
- 48:06Speaker 8: least a comment about a guy, a foreign player here
- 48:11Speaker 8: and I've been on this thing here for for a
- 48:14Speaker 8: couple of months, A Sante Samuel.
- 48:16Speaker 2: Yep.
- 48:18Speaker 8: When I look at his overall numbers, they're very compatible
- 48:22Speaker 8: to Tie Law. I'm not saying he was better than
- 48:25Speaker 8: Tie Law, but I think he's in that conversation. When
- 48:28Speaker 8: I look eleven season, one hundred and fifty seven games,
- 48:31Speaker 8: fifty one interceptions, seven of them returned for touchdowns. During
- 48:35Speaker 8: the record season, he has the postseason record for four
- 48:39Speaker 8: touchdowns interception term for touchdowns and any Paul everything, you
- 48:46Speaker 8: guys ever, try to reach out to him and see
- 48:49Speaker 8: what's up, Any chance in him maybe coming back to
- 48:52Speaker 8: the New England area, because I enjoyed watching that guy.
- 48:55Speaker 8: And my last statement, I never I never heard anything
- 49:00Speaker 8: negative about him as far as getting arrested or anything
- 49:03Speaker 8: like that.
- 49:04Speaker 2: No, but I don't think he was ever in any
- 49:06Speaker 2: trouble off the field.
- 49:08Speaker 5: It just doesn't like Bill.
- 49:09Speaker 2: Yeah. It was not a huge fan of Belichick, and
- 49:12Speaker 2: it stemmed from what I think he felt was maybe
- 49:17Speaker 2: some dishonesty from the coach to the player. I think
- 49:20Speaker 2: when his contract was up, and I think that you know,
- 49:24Speaker 2: it was I think as Santa Samuel felt like the
- 49:27Speaker 2: team was very much in favor of resigning him, and
- 49:30Speaker 2: it turned out that the coach was not necessarily in
- 49:32Speaker 2: favor of resigning him, and he ended up going elsewhere.
- 49:36Speaker 2: And you're right, he had a terrific career when he
- 49:38Speaker 2: left here. You know, he had some good years in Philly.
- 49:42Speaker 2: Good player. I mean, I think that ty Law was
- 49:45Speaker 2: a better player. But when you started talking to Emory,
- 49:48Speaker 2: I was thinking, you know, we never really even bring
- 49:52Speaker 2: him up for a possibility of Patriots Hall of Fame,
- 49:55Speaker 2: and maybe we should. Maybe he's a guy that we
- 49:58Speaker 2: should be discussing in those me you know, I for
- 50:02Speaker 2: obvious reasons we've talked about in many shows. He's got
- 50:04Speaker 2: no shot right now to get past the process. But yeah,
- 50:08Speaker 2: he's very good player for a lot of years, big
- 50:12Speaker 2: big time plays too in big games.
- 50:14Speaker 5: Yeah, and a real turnover machine, like a guy that
- 50:18Speaker 5: picked off a lot of passes, like Emory said. And
- 50:20Speaker 5: I think the biggest thing, just from the relationship with
- 50:23Speaker 5: the organization is he's been very vocally anti Bill Belichick.
- 50:27Speaker 5: Oh yeah, on social media, you know. And I'm not
- 50:30Speaker 5: saying he's saying things that are like not any like
- 50:33Speaker 5: rocket shots at Bill are necessarily in terms of personal stuff,
- 50:36Speaker 5: but like just the coaching and like taking credit. I
- 50:39Speaker 5: remember he took credit for like changing how corners in
- 50:43Speaker 5: New England play to play off coverage more and the
- 50:46Speaker 5: different steps that they take to get more interceptions on
- 50:49Speaker 5: you know, just little things like that that he was
- 50:52Speaker 5: He's been very critical of Bill about in general, and
- 50:55Speaker 5: so it just that I don't know if that bridge
- 50:59Speaker 5: will be meant Now. We talked a little bit because
- 51:01Speaker 5: Emory called into Catch twenty two and asked about it too.
- 51:04Speaker 5: With Samuel, he did overlap with Rabel for quite a bit.
- 51:08Speaker 5: So maybe if they had any sort of relationship and
- 51:12Speaker 5: if that door were ever to be open again, maybe
- 51:14Speaker 5: it's it's Rabel bringing him back into sort of the family,
- 51:17Speaker 5: so to speak here in New England. But a really
- 51:21Speaker 5: good player. Now correct me if I'm wrong. But the
- 51:23Speaker 5: ball went through his hands in Super Bowl so forty nine, yeah,
- 51:28Speaker 5: or Super.
- 51:29Speaker 2: Bowl No, the big super Bowl, yeah, forty two. It
- 51:33Speaker 2: was the big one, and I always felt like he
- 51:38Speaker 2: was given more blame for not making up the play
- 51:44Speaker 2: than he than he deserved. I don't think it was
- 51:46Speaker 2: a drop. I think the ball was high. Yeah, I
- 51:49Speaker 2: think he kind of missed time to jump a little
- 51:51Speaker 2: bit and was sort of on the way down when
- 51:53Speaker 2: the ball was coming through. But it wasn't like a
- 51:55Speaker 2: flat out drop. There's a that same drive. There's a
- 51:59Speaker 2: ball that hit Brandon mary Weather in the chest that
- 52:01Speaker 2: he didn't catch that no one ever brings up, but
- 52:04Speaker 2: on the scale does he doesn't go on Twitter and
- 52:07Speaker 2: make fun of Bill Belichick.
- 52:08Speaker 5: So we know why on the scale of one to
- 52:11Speaker 5: Wes Welker's drop in the next Super Bowl, where it is.
- 52:14Speaker 2: Where more I think, well, is more of an egregious
- 52:18Speaker 2: drop then then, And you know I've been very defensive
- 52:22Speaker 2: of Welker too. I didn't. I just never really saw
- 52:25Speaker 2: that play as well. That's a play that the defensive
- 52:27Speaker 2: back has got to make. I didn't feel like it
- 52:29Speaker 2: was that way. Now, maybe Christian Gonzales, with his you know,
- 52:33Speaker 2: child elite athleticism, Ty Lowell, I don't think. I don't
- 52:37Speaker 2: think you would have been able to get up that high. Yeah,
- 52:39Speaker 2: Christian Gonzalez has a size and the athleticism. I think
- 52:43Speaker 2: maybe to make the play. I just didn't look at
- 52:46Speaker 2: it as like this blown play by Sante Samuel like
- 52:48Speaker 2: everybody else did. But of course he left in free
- 52:50Speaker 2: agency shortly thereafter, and it becomes he cost us an
- 52:54Speaker 2: undefeated season. Yeah, you know, you know, you know me
- 52:59Speaker 2: well enough. Those those little things sort of annoy me
- 53:01Speaker 2: a little bit.
- 53:02Speaker 5: So remind remind me again though, of like when in
- 53:04Speaker 5: the game, exactly was that?
- 53:07Speaker 11: So?
- 53:07Speaker 5: It was the it was right before the burst touchdown?
- 53:10Speaker 12: Yeah?
- 53:10Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it was on the sideline. You know, you know,
- 53:13Speaker 2: he picks the pass off. The game's over, right, I mean,
- 53:16Speaker 2: it's simple as that. Yeah, Andrew is in Maine. He's
- 53:20Speaker 2: happy that we're holding down the Ford, but bummed that
- 53:22Speaker 2: we would choose the Cape over Maine. Both are great,
- 53:24Speaker 2: but if you guys are more Pool guys, then I
- 53:27Speaker 2: guess I get it. But he says he was torn
- 53:31Speaker 2: when the Patriots picked Henderson in the draft, thinking that
- 53:34Speaker 2: the talent of Burden was more of a need. Whoever,
- 53:37Speaker 2: I've come full circle on it and I am now
- 53:39Speaker 2: loving it. The guy seems to do everything well. On
- 53:41Speaker 2: that note, we are suddenly very deep at the position
- 53:43Speaker 2: with Stevenson, Henderson, Gibson, and Larison throwing Laryson onto the
- 53:49Speaker 2: depth chart. Now, while I love it, I'm wondering your
- 53:52Speaker 2: thoughts on us possibly trading Stevenson next season for solid value.
- 53:55Speaker 2: No disrespect to the guy at all. I love him,
- 53:57Speaker 2: but I believe he is one of our higher one
- 53:59Speaker 2: of the higher paid backs in the league now, and
- 54:02Speaker 2: he did have seven fumbles last year. Maybe give Henderson
- 54:04Speaker 2: this year to acclimate, but I'm seeing massive upside potential
- 54:07Speaker 2: for him, and while he's fresh and on a rookie deal,
- 54:10Speaker 2: we should consider it. I suspect of the four, Gibson
- 54:13Speaker 2: and Larison is more likely to Gibson or Larison is
- 54:16Speaker 2: more likely to go, but wanted to hear your thoughts.
- 54:18Speaker 5: So I would be two things. One, I'd be wary
- 54:23Speaker 5: of expecting to get much back from Stevenson. He is
- 54:26Speaker 5: a running back that's now been paid well that typically
- 54:31Speaker 5: you just don't see less it's Christian McCaffrey, like, you're
- 54:36Speaker 5: not seeing teams giving up a ton of capital for
- 54:39Speaker 5: a player that's at that position that has been paid right,
- 54:42Speaker 5: I don't see that coming back. The other thing, Trayvon
- 54:46Speaker 5: Henderson at his best is not a full time lead
- 54:50Speaker 5: running back. He is a in a platoon, he's a spellback,
- 54:54Speaker 5: he's a sub package back, pass, game back, whatever you
- 54:57Speaker 5: want to call it. But I don't think that he's
- 54:59Speaker 5: really destined to be a guy that is Derrick Henry
- 55:03Speaker 5: where it's like all on his shoulders and he's out
- 55:05Speaker 5: there seventy eighty percent of the time. I think you're
- 55:07Speaker 5: going to run him into the ground doing that.
- 55:09Speaker 2: He's not.
- 55:10Speaker 5: He doesn't have the size, doesn't.
- 55:11Speaker 2: I totally agree. I would say that I agree with
- 55:15Speaker 2: Andrew's premise that Stevenson could be, you know, sort of
- 55:20Speaker 2: nearing the end here, but not for the reasons that
- 55:22Speaker 2: he says, because I don't do I agree with you.
- 55:24Speaker 2: I don't think Henderson projects to be a bell cow.
- 55:29Speaker 8: No.
- 55:29Speaker 2: I did get a chance Humble Bragg to talk to
- 55:32Speaker 2: Mike Vrabel a couple of weeks ago, and I asked him,
- 55:35Speaker 2: you know, a question about the style preferred style of play.
- 55:40Speaker 2: You know, it's kind of a generic, open ended question,
- 55:43Speaker 2: but in my mind, I was thinking the way he
- 55:45Speaker 2: played in Tennessee, and he fed right into He goes, well,
- 55:49Speaker 2: we don't have a two hundred and fifty five pound
- 55:51Speaker 2: running back. It was his way of saying, like, no,
- 55:55Speaker 2: I had Dereck Henry, I had a special player at
- 55:57Speaker 2: that position, and we obviously leaned on him. We would have,
- 56:00Speaker 2: and silly not to. And He's right, I don't necessarily
- 56:05Speaker 2: expect them to just sit there and say, well, we're
- 56:07Speaker 2: gonna lean on mermondre Stevenson and we're gonna run the ball,
- 56:10Speaker 2: you know, forty times a game and try to win
- 56:12Speaker 2: that way. I would be surprised if they went about
- 56:14Speaker 2: it that way.
- 56:15Speaker 5: Yeah, I wonder, you know, I'd be surprised if they
- 56:19Speaker 5: did that too. I don't think that's the plan that
- 56:21Speaker 5: I don't think it should be. But when it comes
- 56:24Speaker 5: to that other group of if we put Henderson in
- 56:27Speaker 5: there and Learson get gets a shout in there too,
- 56:30Speaker 5: you get Larson, Gibson, Henderson, to me, there's a lot
- 56:33Speaker 5: of overlap in terms of what those guys are bringing
- 56:36Speaker 5: to the table in terms of skill set. Do you
- 56:39Speaker 5: need all three of those guys on the roster? Like
- 56:41Speaker 5: even Henderson and Gibson to me feel a little bit redundant,
- 56:44Speaker 5: Like they're both really sub package pass game type of players,
- 56:49Speaker 5: you know, space players, speedbacks. I just I wonder how
- 56:54Speaker 5: that all sorts itself out, Because there's a world, in
- 56:58Speaker 5: my opinion, where it's not gonna be Henderson. You just
- 57:01Speaker 5: drafted him in the second round. He's gonna play. So
- 57:04Speaker 5: is Antonio Gibson. What's his role where his snap's available
- 57:08Speaker 5: to him? Is he here just in case of an emergency?
- 57:11Speaker 5: If one of those guys get hurt, then he gets
- 57:13Speaker 5: his opportunity right, and then he's just kind of sitting
- 57:15Speaker 5: around the rest of the time on the sideline, Like,
- 57:17Speaker 5: I just I don't know if Larison continues to do
- 57:21Speaker 5: what he did in the spring when the pads come
- 57:23Speaker 5: on in the summertime, and Antonio Gibson's a pretty expensive
- 57:28Speaker 5: emergency back, Like, I don't know if you need to
- 57:31Speaker 5: keep all of that here. So maybe it ends up
- 57:33Speaker 5: being Gibson. That's the odd man now, because if Henderson's
- 57:36Speaker 5: as good as we think he's going to be, then
- 57:38Speaker 5: he's gonna be better at pretty much everything than Gibson.
- 57:40Speaker 5: So like, where's Gibson? That's the factoring in. That's the hope.
- 57:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the hope is that you know, I keep
- 57:47Speaker 2: saying the same way, the players you're bringing in are
- 57:49Speaker 2: better than the players they're replacing, and that's how you rebuild.
- 57:53Speaker 2: That's the only way really to do it. Dan is
- 57:56Speaker 2: in Virginia via Michigan. He's I'm trying to come out
- 58:00Speaker 2: he's using his creative juices, because you know how when
- 58:03Speaker 2: Mike and I do our shows together, it's Pp and
- 58:05Speaker 2: the Deuce, of course, So it's time to come up
- 58:08Speaker 2: with a name for Paul and Evan's show. With Evan's
- 58:11Speaker 2: laser light focus on game details and Paul's rep for
- 58:15Speaker 2: pointing out virtually anything negative that could possibly come up
- 58:18Speaker 2: in any situation, could you, guys be the light in
- 58:20Speaker 2: the dark or with the occasionally snarky nature of both
- 58:23Speaker 2: of you, not to mention your respective hair colors, Paul's
- 58:26Speaker 2: love of music, Could Salt and Pepper be a better fit?
- 58:29Speaker 2: I kind of like that.
- 58:30Speaker 5: I do like that.
- 58:31Speaker 2: I like salt and pepper. I do that. Oh, he
- 58:33Speaker 2: writes pepper, so he doesn't know it's pepper.
- 58:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 58:36Speaker 2: In terms of things that we're excited or concerned about,
- 58:39Speaker 2: one question I have is regarding the coach's perspective for
- 58:42Speaker 2: this season. Do you think they're taking a bottom line
- 58:44Speaker 2: approach and only looking at wins and losses or are
- 58:46Speaker 2: they taking a more nuanced approach like the PU Crew,
- 58:50Speaker 2: where it's more of a matter of whether they're seeing improvement.
- 58:52Speaker 2: If it's the latter, what criteria do you think they're
- 58:55Speaker 2: looking at. Aside from vabel statement about being good enough
- 58:58Speaker 2: to take advantage of bad football.
- 59:01Speaker 5: Well, I think that is the bottom line. I think
- 59:03Speaker 5: that's where he's at right now. I don't think that
- 59:07Speaker 5: they're ever going to put wins lost totals out there,
- 59:09Speaker 5: and I don't think Mike rabl is gonna come out
- 59:11Speaker 5: ever and say I expect us to win ten games
- 59:14Speaker 5: this year like that. There's just no reason to do that.
- 59:17Speaker 5: But in terms of where the baseline is, yeah, I
- 59:20Speaker 5: think that they feel like every year in this league
- 59:25Speaker 5: there's a million coin flip games every single week where
- 59:29Speaker 5: a team that just makes a couple of less mistakes
- 59:32Speaker 5: than the other team is the one that ends up
- 59:33Speaker 5: winning the game. If you can do that more often
- 59:36Speaker 5: this year, and you don't have losses like you did
- 59:38Speaker 5: last year, like I always to me, the one that
- 59:41Speaker 5: always stands out is the one in Tennessee, Like that
- 59:44Speaker 5: was such a winnable game in Tennessee that you just
- 59:47Speaker 5: really cost yourself a win down there. If you can
- 59:51Speaker 5: win that type of game this year, and that's progress.
- 59:54Speaker 5: And if you don't just do it once, you got
- 59:56Speaker 5: to do it multiple times. But if you are winning
- 59:58Speaker 5: those types of games, that's going to get you to
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: seven or eight wins and then we'll see where the
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: cards lie in terms of the other games. But that
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: to me is the baseline. Like, if you can beat
- 1:00:07Speaker 5: those types of teams and you can come out of
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: playing mistake free football and better, you know, cleaner football
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: than these other teams that are worse than you, then
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: you're in good shape.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: So in order to do that, they're going to obviously
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: have to play better defense. You know, I'm thinking of
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: that Tennessee game that you bring up, And do you
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: remember how the overtime, the first first possession in overtime,
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: Tennessee got the ball and they you know, no one
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: talks about that that drive the way they do the
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: Jacksonville drive that happened in London, But it was virtually
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: the same thing. And there's find up and ran the
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: ball like a hundred times in a row.
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: The opening drive of the game too, they did the
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: same thing right down the field.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: Jeremy is a little concerned you know, with all the
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: improvement they made on defense, he's a little worried about
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: Terrell Williams, you know, and his his presence. Do you
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: think that they've missed him and what will they you know,
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: what will they do if he's not able to come
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: back as has they have they been handicapped at all
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: by his absence?
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: I don't know if they've been handicapped in in May
- 1:01:03Speaker 5: and June. I think that would be a little strong
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: to say that this is starting to affect them already.
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: But I definitely feel as though they have enough continuity
- 1:01:12Speaker 5: with the staff, meaning guys that were with Rabel and
- 1:01:15Speaker 5: Tennessee and understand how he wants to run the defense
- 1:01:17Speaker 5: and how Terrell Williams wants to run the defense that
- 1:01:20Speaker 5: you can install a defense because they have enough guys
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: that have already been in the defense. But in terms
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: of the other stuff, yeah, it's obviously concern once we
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: get in season. You know, play calling is a big one.
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: It would be probably Zach Kerr that would be the
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: true de facto defensive coordinator calling plays. It was their
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: game planning good enough? Is there really with a guy
- 1:01:42Speaker 5: like Terrell Williams? Is their motivation factor good enough. I
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: think that's what he's been most known for, is like
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: a rally the troops, raw rock kind of coach. Do
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: they still have that kind of energy and do they
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: still play with that kind of fire in that buzz
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: on game day. That's what he's been known for, is
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: getting that out of players.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: Hopefully they'll be able to have all of that in play.
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: But I agree with you. I think it's it's Zach
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: Core and he's the guy that's been sort of the
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: interim in Terrell Williams. They've made a big deal out
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: of this, the players, the coaches, and Williams himself has
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: been very actively involved from a communications standpoint. They've been
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: in communication every day. I don't think it has handicapped
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: anything as of yet. Not an ideal situation if it
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: lasts into the season, for sure, I totally understand where
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: the concern would be there. Speaking of concerns, Patrick in
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: Ottawa is right along our lines, the offensive line, you know,
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: is this really what we're gonna go with? I usually
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: worry about injury and whatnot, but I think if we
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: get one or two guys goes down, we're in a
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: lot of trouble. Any additions that they might be able
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: to make. Yeah, talked a little bit about that earlier.
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: It's obviously fair. I mean you went into the off
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: season with major holes at really both tackle spots and
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: then obviously the hole that was created at center with
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: David Andrews being released and then retiring. So we've talked
- 1:03:07Speaker 5: about this. It's gonna take a couple of years to
- 1:03:10Speaker 5: build out the depth of the entire roster. Like right now,
- 1:03:12Speaker 5: I feel much better about where they're all twenty two
- 1:03:16Speaker 5: is on. You know, if they're starting eleven on both
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: sides of the ball, I feel like has improved. But
- 1:03:22Speaker 5: they've sunk all their resources into getting the starters improved.
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: So that doesn't necessarily mean that the second, the second
- 1:03:28Speaker 5: stringers and the third stringers are going to be improved
- 1:03:31Speaker 5: because all your top resources are going to Will Campbell
- 1:03:34Speaker 5: and you know, just to Fawon Diggs and to Milton
- 1:03:37Speaker 5: Williams and those that top of the roster type of guys.
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: So it's gonna be tough, Like if they if Will
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: Campbell knock on Wood, If Will Campbell gets hurt, it's
- 1:03:46Speaker 5: Vederian Lowe is probably back into the starting lineup. If
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: Morgan Moses gets hurt, then it's cut Caden Wallace or
- 1:03:52Speaker 5: Trey Jacobs or whatever. So you're probably right back to
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: where you were.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: Absolutely last year. That's why it's our biggest concern. What
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: about halfway? We're moving all right here.
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: Right, thanks Salt and Pepper.
- 1:04:03Speaker 8: Is that right?
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: We're going Fred? Who is just Mike? What?
- 1:04:07Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: You know, Mike's a defense guy.
- 1:04:09Speaker 5: You know, I don't know if he only likes hockey.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: And in defense. And it's ironic because he played no defense.
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: When he played defenseman in hockey, he was more of
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: an offensive special. What I hear is like it was
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: like a Mason Lori minus forty three.
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, that sounds right.
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: So we h. I want to get to that quarter

- 1:06:54Speaker 1: the podcast at Patriots dot com. And we're reading right here,
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: So Chris, let's get into it. Got some Christian La
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: love and hate. I don't know, I haven't clicked in yet,
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: but Christian in La. Bill from Norfolk what's worse than
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: listening to Christian try and talk about football, to try
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: and talk about his personal life. I try to tuote
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: him out because I started, I started to cringe at
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: the sound of his voice. My theory as to why
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: you guys keep it allying him on is because he
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: fills that Eric's size void in your heart. Someone who
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: sounds pretentious that we all love to hate. Go Pat's
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: undefeated season covered with chishom winning Rookie of the Year.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: Oh listen, well there's a lot of takecare.
- 1:07:27Speaker 7: Yeah, what a subtle little plunge of Chisholm.
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: Christian from LA. We don't hate you here because we
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: don't know. Yeah, listen occasionally, but not enough.
- 1:07:36Speaker 7: This is definitely a safe space. People need to stop
- 1:07:38Speaker 7: stop with the Christian from LA.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: Christians, send your rebuttal here and we'll read it live.
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: But Chris, all right, so we got that Christian LA.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: I think we'll get back to him.
- 1:07:48Speaker 14: We do.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: We do, miss scal by the way scowls before your time.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: But we'll talk about I mean, guys, he's got that juice.
- 1:07:55Speaker 7: He's sounded pretty good camp so far, I mean, I think.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: But remember it's June.
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: It is June.
- 1:08:00Speaker 7: Yeah, it's early. I mean mini camps just wrapped up.
- 1:08:02Speaker 10: Obviously, he was here all OTAs Between him and Lan Larson,
- 1:08:06Speaker 10: I've really been truly like the main guys who's had
- 1:08:09Speaker 10: a lot of focus from from coaches and you know,
- 1:08:12Speaker 10: I think, I mean, from my point of view, I
- 1:08:15Speaker 10: think they've shown a lot of improvement over their time
- 1:08:19Speaker 10: being here so far as on drafted free agents. But uh,
- 1:08:22Speaker 10: you know, I think Chismus has some some promise.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: You know, New England we love our underdog story wide
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: receiver and he is He's showing all those trades right now,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: so people are keep grasping at things from the past.
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: But I mean, we'll hopefully he can work out for
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: the next six weeks and carry this over to July.
- 1:08:40Speaker 10: What's cool about these guys too, is like I mean,
- 1:08:43Speaker 10: they know what's on the line, you know what I mean.
- 1:08:45Speaker 10: It's like you kind of get brought of the situation. Okay,
- 1:08:48Speaker 10: I wasn't drafted, but I'm being put in this premier
- 1:08:51Speaker 10: organization and I have to showcase, like you know, they're
- 1:08:55Speaker 10: trying to make it, make a stance and we kind
- 1:08:57Speaker 10: of come up a little bit here in the division.
- 1:08:59Speaker 10: The league you know, you gotta show that you can
- 1:09:01Speaker 10: do it as well.
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: And I want to play for I will say we
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: went out to some of the practices at night and
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: day difference at least just for it looks just more
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: controlled and organized. Everybody kind of knows what they're doing.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: So I'm excited for this, this training.
- 1:09:16Speaker 7: Camp coming, It'll be cool, It'll be cool.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: All Right. We got some over unders from spiing Fresno
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: ready games with the same starting O line five and
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: a half.
- 1:09:25Speaker 7: I'm gonna go over.
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so too.
- 1:09:27Speaker 7: I'm gonna go over this year.
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: Yeah, barring barring, I think I.
- 1:09:31Speaker 10: Think center is the number one area that could have movement,
- 1:09:36Speaker 10: not not guard left guard.
- 1:09:38Speaker 7: I do. I do believe center will be the focus
- 1:09:41Speaker 7: this year.
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: All Right, Drake May passing touchdowns nineteen and a half,
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna go I'm gonna go over. I like I'm
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: being optimistic. I think you need to go over.
- 1:09:50Speaker 7: I'm gonna say over, But like nineteen kind of sounds.
- 1:09:53Speaker 14: Like a pushya Okay, I don't know why, but it's
- 1:09:57Speaker 14: a pretty good number passing league. I'm gonna say I
- 1:10:00Speaker 14: think he'll get twenty two, you know, at this one
- 1:10:03Speaker 14: Patriots rushing touchdowns fifteen and a half.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: I think the passing is gonna be higher because I
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: think fifteen and a half is it's gonna be. I
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: think it might be under.
- 1:10:10Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: I think it's gonna be a lot of rollouts with
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: little like five yard yeah, screen touchdowns.
- 1:10:14Speaker 7: Yeah, you can also.
- 1:10:15Speaker 10: I mean, I say I'm curious in corporation of Drake
- 1:10:17Speaker 10: runs because they take that in the factor, especially inside
- 1:10:20Speaker 10: the five for the zone fake or bootleg or something
- 1:10:23Speaker 10: like kind of you have the ability with drip options now, yeah,
- 1:10:27Speaker 10: you have options now yeah, and again if you if
- 1:10:29Speaker 10: you keep speed on that running back.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: I'm saying I'm saying under because the passing attacks so good.
- 1:10:35Speaker 7: I agree.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: Yeah, all right. Secondary secondary is league wide ranking seven
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: and seventh.
- 1:10:41Speaker 7: League wide ranking seventh. I'm gonna go I'm gonna go
- 1:10:45Speaker 7: over this.
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: Year over so being they're gonna be ranked higher.
- 1:10:48Speaker 7: I think they're gonna be ranked higher. Yeah, I think
- 1:10:50Speaker 7: they could be top five this year.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: No fly zone yeah, yeah, Okay, we're on that feather
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: ruffling postgame pressers by Rabel one and a half. I hope,
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: I hope it's undertaking. I hope it's under because that
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: means we've we've had a good season.
- 1:11:03Speaker 10: Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna just safely say under on
- 1:11:06Speaker 10: that one.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: Number of moderate or worse scandal to hit the program
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: this year one and a half under under Yeah, and
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: scandal start start week one.
- 1:11:16Speaker 7: It's always gonna be good.
- 1:11:17Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: Eric Scalvino incognito appearances at home games zero point five
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: obviously because he hates football. I'm under the mindset like
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: love scal. Shout out scal if you still listen. I
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: don't think he's watched a single snap of Patriots football
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: willingly since he left. So yeah, I wish I got
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: to know him. No, he was these great him, one
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: of a kind. All right, let's wrap it up with
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: one more real quick more Christian from La Logan from
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: Myrtle Beach. Christian from La gets so much hate it's wild. Yeah,
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: he said a d bag comment once in a while,
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: But if he got it like that, I'm more interested
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: to know what he does for a living and how
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: he could get it. On question for the crew, who
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: do y'all think will be the sleeper defensive player to
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: make the team have an actual role on defense. I
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: feel like we're pretty deep across the board accept at linebacker.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: I could see a dB or pass rusher stepping up
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: having an unexpected impact for the team this year.
- 1:12:08Speaker 10: I'm gonna go with from the D line from North Carolina.
- 1:12:12Speaker 10: I think he's a big body, you kind of fill
- 1:12:15Speaker 10: the inside. He's an animal. I like Javari Ritzy a lot.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: I think one of the dB sneaks in. Yeah, and like,
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: you know, more special team stuff like that, because like
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: we the starters are elite, but one of the defensive
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: backs I think.
- 1:12:26Speaker 10: I mean Javari Ritzy being a un drafted rook Yeah,
- 1:12:28Speaker 10: I think, you know, I think he's a lot.
- 1:12:30Speaker 7: I think he's a really big chance of meeting the team.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, Chris, that was a good one, right there, Guys,
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: once again, send you emails a podcast at Patriots dot com.
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: If it doesn't get around the show, we'll read it here.
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: Let's get back to it, and now great moments in history.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: I'm going to push back here on everybody. What does
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: everybody have against Robbie Anderson.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: He's never made an important catch in his.
- 1:12:53Speaker 6: Career, like against us, he's done well. When oh I
- 1:12:57Speaker 6: remember a game and a bellow, don't maybe go on
- 1:13:00Speaker 6: my phone. Go deuce, you have a computer there. You
- 1:13:04Speaker 6: want to know the answer that he's a thoroughly average player.
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: Who, yeah, is he's.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: Like a David Gibbons type, isn't he?
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: Yeah? I have no interest in David Gibbons right now?
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: Okay, all right, right now. But they need a number
- 1:13:17Speaker 6: one receiver. David Gibbons isn't there, and I don't think
- 1:13:19Speaker 6: Robbie Anderson is either. No.
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: No, But that's why I'm not interested.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: They had though he's not going to get number one money.
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: Of course it is, you think, so that's what he makes.
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: Why do you think he's on the block. Okay, so
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: you guys want to hear about a thanks for the sign?
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: Oh oh yeah, please do? Because I have the prolific career.
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: There was one reasonably good game.
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: There was one reasonly the game where he was targeted
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: twelve times and had four catches for seventies.
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: That is the apex.
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: Right here we go, two for thirty four, none for none,
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: one for two, three for twenty four, three for eleven,
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: one for ten, and one for two.
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: He is zero to nine career against the Patriots. Man
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: he's had.
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: Maybe I'm thinking of Wayne Krebet. That's another great moment.
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: See Alex took care of me. Have you noticed lately,
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: like the the great moments in PU history of really
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: not allowed me to necessarily shine. Some of my more
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: ridiculous arguments have been focused on lately.
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: That was a good one.
- 1:14:21Speaker 7: That was one.
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: I was like Robbie Anderson, Fred, why are you in
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: love with Robbie Anderson? He's had big games against the Patriots,
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: went two for twelve one zero, And I like Mike
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: reason zero fiz zero none for none.
- 1:14:33Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:14:33Speaker 5: I definitely remember we were talking about Stefan Gilmour earlier.
- 1:14:38Speaker 5: I definitely remember Stefan gilmore someone asked him before a
- 1:14:42Speaker 5: Jets game. I believe it was about Robbie Anderson and
- 1:14:46Speaker 5: he did not have too many concerns about going up
- 1:14:49Speaker 5: against Robbie Anderson. Is like, well, he's fast. He was
- 1:14:54Speaker 5: trying to find something to say nice about him, and
- 1:14:57Speaker 5: he just couldn't.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: I remember, similar to that, I used to do like
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: a little matchup of the week, and I would try
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: to get you know, like the defensive backs against the
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: good receiver or whatever. And I remember it was the
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: year after Antonio Brown left Pittsburgh and it was Juju
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: was like the.
- 1:15:15Speaker 5: Guy, Oh, it's jac Jackson, right, And it.
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: Wasn't just him. It was even guys like Devin mccordy,
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: who were normally like pretty you know, conservative in their comments.
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: They didn't necessarily say anything bad. It was more what
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: they didn't say. It was Gilmore and mccordy and I
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: was writing this matchup up and I was like, you know,
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: and they're like, you know, Antonio Brown's a different animal.
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: You know, it was all about Antonio Brown and how
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: great he was. But by omission they were telling you
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: this ain't Antonio Brown, this is nothing to worry And
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: like Gilmore, you know, very quietly as you can remember
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: the way he used to just whisper it like yeah,
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: he won't do anything against me, like something like that.
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: And I was like, oh, I guess I'll leave that party.
- 1:16:01Speaker 5: Yeah, they remember.
- 1:16:03Speaker 12: J C.
- 1:16:04Speaker 5: Jackson similarly, was talking about Juju and somebody at the
- 1:16:08Speaker 5: time Juju was having a really good year. Is that
- 1:16:10Speaker 5: second season where he had that big production production season,
- 1:16:14Speaker 5: And someone asked J. C. Jackson if he thought Juju
- 1:16:18Speaker 5: was a top ten receiver in the NFL. And I
- 1:16:21Speaker 5: just remember j C. Jackson like looking bewildered and being
- 1:16:24Speaker 5: like top Juju, like in the top ten. Yeah, they
- 1:16:28Speaker 5: did not think very highly of Juju, which maybe we
- 1:16:31Speaker 5: should have known that that signing wasn't going to work out,
- 1:16:35Speaker 5: but yeah it was. It was funny whenever.
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: I got a couple of quick you know, would you
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: rather games? And I think these guys now are starting
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: to take it a little bit more of the way
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: Alex likes. So, Alex, I'm just looking for juice. Alic
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: took his ball and went home, you know. So let's
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: see who is this? This is from David. Would you
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: rather put a toothpick under your toenail and kick a wall? What?
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: Or be a beat writer for the Cleveland Browns until
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: the day you die?
- 1:17:01Speaker 5: A beat writer for the Cleveland Browns?
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: Out?
- 1:17:03Speaker 5: Why would I want to hurt myself?
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: I would largely agree with that. The next one is
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: be addicted to heroin Jesus awfully harsh. We'll live the
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: rest of your life without being able to see, all right,
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: I'd lose my sight?
- 1:17:17Speaker 5: Yeah, add hero.
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: Let's see chug chug a full glass of water the
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: players soak in after a game was stared directly into
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: the sun for one whole minute.
- 1:17:32Speaker 5: I'm probably staring into the sun. I'll be fine, me too, Yeah,
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: it'll be fine.
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: Uh, this is out there, Yeah, this is this is
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: this is what happens when you go up to Maine.
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: What are we doing? Live in antarctica for the rest
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: of your life. We'll go to the rest of your
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: life eating only pickles.
- 1:17:53Speaker 5: In Antarctica. I can eat whatever I want in antarctica.
- 1:17:55Speaker 5: There's no restrictions.
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I would take Antarctica. Yeah, not ideal,
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: but you know, pickles. I mean, I like pickles, but
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: I'm not a pickles I get awfully sick of them
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: in a in a hurry.
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: No, I think those were trying too hard. Those are
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: trying a bit too hard.
- 1:18:09Speaker 5: Yeah, the drug one, here's one.
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: Let's see if this one can get it just right then,
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: because this is oh yeah, this is this is Kyle,
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: I think with a response to Alex, who thought he
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: was he was given us softballs, So he says, Gonza
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: may get injured for the year in camp. What would
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: you rather?
- 1:18:32Speaker 5: I mean, why come on, I guess I got to say,
- 1:18:37Speaker 5: because doctor Korak, like, what are we doing?
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: Oh, here's an interesting one for you. The Patriots only
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: win two games or the Celtics only win thirty games.
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: I would take the Celtics only winn thirty because Jason
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: Tatum's hurt. I would say, you get your you built
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: an excuse. Oh man, I'm gonna say the Patriots only
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: winning too, because this is my.
- 1:19:04Speaker 5: Job, Like I'm covering here anyway. Yeah, I'm covering them
- 1:19:07Speaker 5: whether they win two games or twelve games. That the
- 1:19:09Speaker 5: Celtics is like what gives me life? So I would
- 1:19:13Speaker 5: say that I need the Celtics to be good more right, And.
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: He says the Bruins, Bruins or Patriots never make it
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: back to the playoffs for the rest of the decade.
- 1:19:24Speaker 5: I'm bruined. Sorry to my fiance.
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: But me too. And obviously Alex says, thanks for reading.
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: It's all in jest. Yes, So Alex gets his way.
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: He gets a couple of disgusting Would you rather.
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: Like the disgusting ones? That's trying way too hard? Those
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: are the sports ones. Those are pretty good.
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: So let's go back to the PU hotline and checking
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: out with our good buddy Sean and Vancouver Sean. What's up.
- 1:19:53Speaker 11: Congratulations to Drake and and Michael May on their recent
- 1:19:58Speaker 11: marriage at Honeyboot. I like this because it shows.
- 1:20:03Speaker 5: Should should that it's okay, but.
- 1:20:06Speaker 11: You know, it's it's It's just what I like about
- 1:20:08Speaker 11: it is it's it's between camps, right, so you're not
- 1:20:12Speaker 11: inter interrupting the any kind of uh Patriots stuff with life,
- 1:20:18Speaker 11: big life moments like you you're like you're planning that.
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know about that though.
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: A prior regime cost Jared Stone an opportunity to compete
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: for a job, and I think he just went to
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: a wedding. I don't even think it was his wedding.
- 1:20:32Speaker 5: No, I think I guess it.
- 1:20:34Speaker 11: Was like when they were off what like now it's
- 1:20:39Speaker 11: it's it's between camps like you.
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: Yeah, statement did it in the off season too.
- 1:20:44Speaker 11: Oh my gosh, that's crazy. Yeah, it's built tough, so so.
- 1:20:50Speaker 11: But I also wanted to say, like here in Northwest,
- 1:20:53Speaker 11: you might like it in the summer because like the
- 1:20:55Speaker 11: high today is seventy two, very nice, so it might
- 1:20:58Speaker 11: be nice to weather for you to come to the
- 1:21:00Speaker 11: next year.
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: Is it just is it just right, Sean, It's just perfect.
- 1:21:04Speaker 5: I've heard I've heard a lot of great things about Vancouver.
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: Moderate, not too hot, not too cold, Oh that's good.
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: I'm happy for you. I'm happy for you.
- 1:21:14Speaker 5: I would I would like to visit Vancouver, not even kidding,
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: but it's it's so far. But like, I've heard great
- 1:21:19Speaker 5: things about Vancous.
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: I've never been there, and I have heard people talk
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: about how nice it is. You know, Seattle's beautiful.
- 1:21:26Speaker 11: It's like a six hour flight.
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: I always think it's you know, Seattle's got to be
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: pretty close, right, I mean not close proximity, but like weatherwise,
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: climate and all that, and yeah in Seattle. Seattle's beautiful.
- 1:21:37Speaker 5: And Seattle's still I keep track of all the because
- 1:21:41Speaker 5: I'm I'm spoiled and I get to go to a
- 1:21:43Speaker 5: lot of NFL stadiums. Seattle's still not still never been.
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: You haven't checked that one out. It's a good place.
- 1:21:48Speaker 5: I went to San Francisco for the first time last year,
- 1:21:51Speaker 5: but not Seattle.
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: Sean, what worries you most about the Patriots heading into camp?
- 1:21:56Speaker 11: Like most people that it's the offensive line.
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: Yeah, but I think that's the answer.
- 1:22:00Speaker 11: That was the biggest problem last year. So they have improved,
- 1:22:04Speaker 11: but it's very uh kind of temperamental.
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, no, I think that's the answer. Thanks Sean.
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: You know, make sure stay stay comfortable, stay comfortable out there.
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: I don't want you to get overheated or anything. Uh,
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: Noah in Toronto. I bet you. Noah likes it when
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: he gets warm. He's he's in Toronto, so it's hockey
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: season the whole year. Noah, what's up?
- 1:22:27Speaker 12: Hey?
- 1:22:27Speaker 15: Uh? I think it's I don't know, something that bothers me,
- 1:22:31Speaker 15: but it's probably not a big a deal. But I
- 1:22:33Speaker 15: just am frustrated that they haven't addressed left guard better.
- 1:22:37Speaker 15: I feel like they hit so much gap space in
- 1:22:39Speaker 15: the offseason and they still have like about forty million
- 1:22:42Speaker 15: ax effective gap space, and like Steven now, they're still
- 1:22:46Speaker 15: guys that are like grated for adult vers there, and
- 1:22:49Speaker 15: I just I'm kind of tired of going into the
- 1:22:52Speaker 15: season with like a glaring hole at one of the
- 1:22:55Speaker 15: offensive line spots. And I don't get by eight.
- 1:22:59Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:23:00Speaker 15: I guess they're comfortable with Spree and you know, whoever
- 1:23:03Speaker 15: else is battling it out, but I don't really that's
- 1:23:05Speaker 15: comfortable with them anyways. That's just what they want to
- 1:23:09Speaker 15: get off my chest. And then the other thing, I
- 1:23:11Speaker 15: was wondering if I've been really watching the two thousand
- 1:23:15Speaker 15: and three season, and I'm wondering if you guys had
- 1:23:18Speaker 15: sort of Matrio it's unfiltered or whatever a fish club
- 1:23:21Speaker 15: then available for they scanned and yeah, I'll take it
- 1:23:27Speaker 15: off the air.
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I had some issues with the phone then.
- 1:23:32Speaker 5: Yes, I think he asked it was asking if we
- 1:23:34Speaker 5: have he rewatched trying to rewatch the games. I mean
- 1:23:39Speaker 5: a lot of them are on YouTube, just like obviously
- 1:23:42Speaker 5: does we have them, But I don't think that that's
- 1:23:44Speaker 5: for public consumption.
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: But Deuce like just goes on YouTube to watch the
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: whole eighty five season.
- 1:23:49Speaker 5: Yeah, a lot of it's on YouTube, if that's what
- 1:23:51Speaker 5: you're looking for. But yeah, that was the thing about
- 1:23:54Speaker 5: Left Guard, Like I I'm with him, but I also
- 1:24:00Speaker 5: just to just to be fair, I see what they
- 1:24:05Speaker 5: might have been thinking too, which is, hey, we we've
- 1:24:08Speaker 5: drafted a lot of guards in the last couple of years,
- 1:24:13Speaker 5: Laden Robinson City, sow Cole Strange. Maybe you think Kiden
- 1:24:18Speaker 5: Wallace is really naturally a guard with relatively high jaking
- 1:24:23Speaker 5: and mix, Like you would think that one of those
- 1:24:27Speaker 5: four or five guys is going to work out and
- 1:24:31Speaker 5: so to then go out and pay another offensive lineman
- 1:24:35Speaker 5: a veteran salary. I agree it was a spot that
- 1:24:38Speaker 5: they probably could have gotten a Morgan Moses of left
- 1:24:41Speaker 5: guards and just set it and forget it type of player.
- 1:24:45Speaker 5: But I also understand, Hey, we we feel pretty high
- 1:24:48Speaker 5: about Laden Robinson.
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: What's the guy's name. I want to say he went
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: to maybe I'm thinking of a center. He went from
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: Indie to Minnesota, which made Berry Ryan Kelly center. Okay,
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: that's not the guy I was thinking of. I think
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: I think there was with the Patriots really interested in him.
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: I don't think I thought there was a guard that's
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: highly regarded, that got good money and free agency the
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: Patriots were interested in. Oh now I can't remember it.
- 1:25:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean so that So that was the other
- 1:25:19Speaker 5: thing about the guard spot too, is that and not
- 1:25:21Speaker 5: that this is the Ben end All be all, But
- 1:25:23Speaker 5: a lot of the free agents were right guards, career
- 1:25:27Speaker 5: right guards, So like you could have signed Brandon Sheriff
- 1:25:32Speaker 5: and moved him from right guard to left guard, and
- 1:25:34Speaker 5: he's a good NFL player, so he probably would have
- 1:25:36Speaker 5: survived and it probably would have been fine. But other
- 1:25:39Speaker 5: than Tony, there really wasn't a guy that was like, Okay,
- 1:25:42Speaker 5: this is a true left guard. That's a really good
- 1:25:46Speaker 5: player that's available.
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: That's a second guest. Wasn't a huge uh you know
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: package for the trade that Chicago they wanted to pay,
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: you know, they agreed to pay.
- 1:25:57Speaker 5: Yeah, that's just that's the one.
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: You had the money. As Sean point it out.
- 1:26:00Speaker 5: Yeah, James Daniels moved from Pittsburgh to Miami free agency.
- 1:26:05Speaker 5: He's a you know, guy that's played a little center,
- 1:26:07Speaker 5: a little bit of guard, that probably could have played
- 1:26:09Speaker 5: left guard, but he's coming off an injury. I get it.
- 1:26:12Speaker 5: I think that that's if we look back on the
- 1:26:14Speaker 5: off season, there's probably gonna be two second guesses. One
- 1:26:17Speaker 5: is going to be that receiver trade like a DK
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: Metcalf deal that they didn't do, and the other is
- 1:26:22Speaker 5: probably going to be not again the more who is
- 1:26:25Speaker 5: the Morgan Moses of left guards? Just a veteran that
- 1:26:28Speaker 5: for one year is going to come in and make
- 1:26:30Speaker 5: sure that spot is taken care of and as you
- 1:26:32Speaker 5: develop some of these other guys behind them, Yeah.
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: I mean absolutely fair. Second guess is we'll see Cole Strange.
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: I think this is a crossroads year obviously, and we'll
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: see if his athleticism wins out or if he just
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: doesn't have it. Yeah, you know from a health standpoint,
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: Especially Nick in New York is the next to chime
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: in with his his worries a little bit of a
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: different concern here. He's wondering if any of us has
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: any problems about Milton Williams run defense.
- 1:27:03Speaker 5: So I can't lie and I don't want to change
- 1:27:08Speaker 5: now that he's a Patriot and they made the move.
- 1:27:10Speaker 5: I had pointed out when they made the move right
- 1:27:13Speaker 5: around there that he has never been the guy on
- 1:27:18Speaker 5: the defensive line. You know, he's played on a stacked
- 1:27:20Speaker 5: defensive line in Philadelphia. He's been a i'd say part
- 1:27:24Speaker 5: time is probably a little strong. He's been a rotational
- 1:27:27Speaker 5: player on that defensive line. He's certainly favored more playing
- 1:27:31Speaker 5: the pass and being in on obvious pass like third
- 1:27:34Speaker 5: downs and things like that. So when he plays more,
- 1:27:39Speaker 5: does his production follow, like does the efficiency continue when
- 1:27:44Speaker 5: he plays more snaps? So that now he's just even
- 1:27:47Speaker 5: more productive than he was in Philadelphia in a bigger
- 1:27:50Speaker 5: role or was he that type of guy that was
- 1:27:52Speaker 5: really built to be in a bigger rotation and playing
- 1:27:57Speaker 5: maybe being Robin to Jalen Carter's batman. I mean, that's
- 1:28:00Speaker 5: my concern that that's a legitimate concern. It is, and
- 1:28:04Speaker 5: we'll see if he ends up playing that. Now for
- 1:28:07Speaker 5: the Patriots, maybe they think that even if they have
- 1:28:10Speaker 5: two Robins and Christian Barmore and Milton Williams, two Robins
- 1:28:14Speaker 5: equals a batman, so like they'll play off of each
- 1:28:16Speaker 5: other and they'll be okay, just you know, having each
- 1:28:19Speaker 5: other there. But it's a fair point. Milton Williams. In general,
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: I think there's there's not zero risk with that signing.
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: So you know that fourth of July is right around
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: the corner, right, you know who else knows?
- 1:28:31Speaker 5: Bob, Bob our big friend.

- 1:29:01Speaker 2: band and get holiday weekend ready. At Bob's Discount Furniture,
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: the official furniture store of the New England Patriots. If
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: I wanted to talk a little bit about I want
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: to transition a little bit and get to the quarter
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: century team. Very controversial right at the right at the top.
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: And this is something I think was a it was
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: a combo platter here from ESPN and PFF. Correct guys, right,
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: all your guys, the Aaron shatz is of the world.
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: Well he is, he is in here, Okay, So then
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: that's yeah, Shats has some of these right. Oh geez,
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: looks like Shats wrote a lot of these.
- 1:29:40Speaker 14: Right.
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: Well, he's Seth Walder.
- 1:29:43Speaker 5: Seth is an analytics guy.
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: Yeah, so a lot of different guys like that that
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: are involved.
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: Seth very excited about the Patriots rebuilding their analytics department. Oh,
- 1:29:53Speaker 5: very excited about it.
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: Absolutely they should be. Yeah, they should be. So a
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: couple of stipulations they had for this team, and this
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: is just what it sounds like. It's a quarter century.
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: We're twenty twenty five, so it's the best players in
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: the league. He says. Players are still eligible if they
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: began their careers in the nineties, but only production beginning
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: with the two thousand season was considered. Decisions were made
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: mostly on statistical outputs, so this is perfect for Evan
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: focusing on peak seasons while still rewarding longevity. We relied
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: heavily on ftns d Y, a ar metric defense adjusted
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: yards above replacement. This is right up your round. So
- 1:30:35Speaker 2: this is right now you're saying, oh, just keep it coming.
- 1:30:39Speaker 5: This is This is basically if you're a baseball fan,
- 1:30:41Speaker 5: this is war but football.
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: Style even less relevant, which calculates a player's value over
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: the course of the season compared to a replacement level baseline.
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: Other advanced statistics were also taken into account. This team
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: includes twenty five offensive players, twenty three defensive players, and
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: five special teams play with. For another wrinkle, we filled
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: out a full practice squad with the players who just
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: missed the cut and listed them in their respected position groups.
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: Blah blah blah blah blah. Okay, So, without further ado,
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: I'm gonna get right to it. I'm gonna go position
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: by position. I'll read you the guys. You tell me
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: if you have you know any any thoughts or problems.
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: Quarterback really controversial Tom Brady. I don't see it. I
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: don't see it. Dog, Peyton Manning, Patrick Mahomes. Those are
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: your three quarterbacks.
- 1:31:30Speaker 5: Sounds about right.
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: Okay, practice squad, Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees.
- 1:31:36Speaker 5: Pretty good practice squad.
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: I don't have any issues with that. That would have
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: been the way I did it too. I would have
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: given him Mahomes the nod over Aaron Rodgers were winning.
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I probably agree with that. Here's where it gets
- 1:31:52Speaker 5: me too, But I respect the numbers. I mean you,
- 1:31:55Speaker 5: of all people, he's a.
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: I think you know, well, I don't have to trash
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: a guy after his career, but I think he never
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: won an important game like he really they lost so
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: many home playoff games and games that they were like, yeah,
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: substantial favorite the probably. I think they were very lucky
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: to get to the super Bowl the year they won it.
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: The guys that are Brett far he Brett farved him
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: to the super.
- 1:32:21Speaker 5: Bowl atte Farv or like Big Ben. Like you can
- 1:32:23Speaker 5: say the same thing about those Steelers teams as the
- 1:32:25Speaker 5: Saints that they were kind of underperformers in a lot
- 1:32:27Speaker 5: of ways too, So I get it.
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: So running backs, they also picked three. I didn't like
- 1:32:32Speaker 2: these priest Holmes. Yeah, I thought was a controversial pick,
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: although a terrific player.
- 1:32:38Speaker 5: Great, great peak.
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: Yeah, Christian McCaffrey and Derrick Henry.
- 1:32:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I didn't care for this list.
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: Okay, the practice squad is Ladanian Tomlinson.
- 1:32:49Speaker 5: I don't know how he's on the practice squad.
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: I'd have Ladanian Tomlinson over any of these three. Yeah,
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: not just one of them, any of the three.
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't get that.
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: I'm going to leave the glasses on definitely.
- 1:33:00Speaker 9: Uh So.
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: What do you think I mean? I don't I'm not
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: reading all of the explanations, but basically, the all all
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: of the rundowns are all just about the stats. Yeah,
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: like it's telling you King Henry gives the team Paula
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: Rusher stats, a style aside as production earns him the spot.
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: It's all about yards per carry. And you know he
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: was four point nine, Adrian Peterson's four to six and
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: LT was four to three. Like, so that's what you're
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: you're basing this on, is like, you know, a half
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: a yard per carry. So like I thought, out of
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: a I did take a quick glance at the list
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: and a little bit prepared here. This was the running
- 1:33:37Speaker 2: backs was the one that I had the most issues
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: with Priest Holmes. Good player, really good player. La Danian
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: Thomas and and Adrian Peterson are the two best running
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: backs I've ever seen. I agree. I told you I
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: would have had Tomlinson over any of these three guys.
- 1:33:51Speaker 5: Yeah, so I think LT was the more well rounded player, obviously,
- 1:33:55Speaker 5: but just in terms of pure ball carrying, I don't
- 1:34:00Speaker 5: think there's anybody better than Adrian Peterson in my generation,
- 1:34:04Speaker 5: you know, like my you know, post two thousand, let's
- 1:34:06Speaker 5: call it. Adrian Peterson was in the league of his
- 1:34:08Speaker 5: own in terms of just purely tote in the rock,
- 1:34:11Speaker 5: and I don't know how you could have anybody ahead
- 1:34:13Speaker 5: of him.
- 1:34:14Speaker 2: They basically punted on the fullback spots. It's Kylie Houstitch
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: And they didn't even have a practice squad. Oh, they
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: just they said that his nine Pro Bowl selections are
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: four more than Patrick Ricard and five more than Lorenzo O'Neil. Okay, well,
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: Lorenzo neil was a great player, But that's all I needed,
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: was like the amount of Pro Bowls, No, no one else.
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: I assume Mike Alstott was like two problem much ninety
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: probably to nineties centric yep, wide receivers.
- 1:34:40Speaker 5: They didn't like this one either.
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: How to argue with the first two though, Randy Moss,
- 1:34:46Speaker 2: Calvin Johnson, yep, Julio Jones, Terrell Owens I have a
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: little bit of a problem.
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: With it's a lot of that's a lot of nineteen
- 1:34:54Speaker 5: nineties doing some work.
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: Marvin Harrison also a little bit nineties heavy, justin Jeff Everson,
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: no issue there. Uh, Antonio Brown and Andre Johnson the
- 1:35:04Speaker 2: practice squad guys.
- 1:35:05Speaker 5: So I think Antonio Brown's got to be higher on
- 1:35:10Speaker 5: this list. Personally, I would have him over Marvin Harrison.
- 1:35:14Speaker 5: I'd probably have him at least over Marvin Harrison. But
- 1:35:19Speaker 5: Antonio Brown to me, because if you're if you're weighing
- 1:35:22Speaker 5: peak as a big part of this, that Antonio Brown
- 1:35:26Speaker 5: was the twenty ten's run by Antonio Brown is insane.
- 1:35:29Speaker 5: Six years. I think it was six straight. Yeah, like
- 1:35:32Speaker 5: just like led the league one hundred ten seasons, yeah,
- 1:35:34Speaker 5: one thousand, you know, like everything. It's not like one
- 1:35:36Speaker 5: hundred catches for like, you know, eleven hundred yards. He
- 1:35:39Speaker 5: was like, you know, one hundred catches for like fifteen hundred.
- 1:35:42Speaker 5: He had one of the most productive runs of anybody
- 1:35:44Speaker 5: in that that four or five year period in Pittsburgh.
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: So we'll move on to tight ends. Gronk obviously is
- 1:35:53Speaker 2: the number one guy, Travis Kelcey and Tony Gonzalez or
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: the other two in the practice squad is Antonio Gates. Yeah,
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: that's a pretty good practice squad.
- 1:36:03Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a pretty good practice squad. That's a pretty
- 1:36:05Speaker 5: good list. I think those three, those four really I am.
- 1:36:08Speaker 2: A little bit partial to the Gates, but I have
- 1:36:10Speaker 2: no problem with the way that they did this. And
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: we'll I'm going to close out the offense and then
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: we'll take a little bit of a break. The left
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: tackles Joe Thomas and Trent Williams. No arguments with Walter Jones,
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: and we use the Jordan Mylotta because it's the international
- 1:36:30Speaker 2: player pathway and that gives you seventeen guys in your
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: practice such they cheated, Yeah, so I'd have to go
- 1:36:37Speaker 2: back and look. But like Jonathan Ogden, like was all
- 1:36:40Speaker 2: his damage done in the nineties, because Walter Jones was
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: you know kind of yeah, like it looks at that
- 1:36:47Speaker 2: way in Orlando pace, right, Like Jordan Mylotta was better
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: than those two guys.
- 1:36:52Speaker 5: Jormat has had a nice run here, but I don't
- 1:36:55Speaker 5: think that there's enough, Like I feel like there's probably better.
- 1:36:58Speaker 5: Now I agree with the top like Joe Joe Thomas
- 1:37:01Speaker 5: and Trent Williams are the two best left tackles of
- 1:37:03Speaker 5: the last.
- 1:37:04Speaker 2: Williams is maybe the best offensive lineman. Yeah, I would
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: probably have period, I'd probably have Tyron Smith ahead of Peak,
- 1:37:13Speaker 2: you know, like Peak Tyron Smith, you know, had trouble
- 1:37:16Speaker 2: staying healthy. Man like Fred Fred's like all excited love
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: that guy.
- 1:37:20Speaker 8: Uh.
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: The guards were Alan Fanica and Steve Hutchinson again no
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: no practice squad. In the center is Jason Kelsey.
- 1:37:30Speaker 5: Yeah that's probably fair, you know guard. I mean obviously
- 1:37:35Speaker 5: I think Zach Martin's on there for left guard or
- 1:37:37Speaker 5: right guard right.
- 1:37:38Speaker 2: Guard Zach Zach Martin and Marshall Yonda with Jarry Evans.
- 1:37:43Speaker 2: So the only guy that I.
- 1:37:43Speaker 5: Would say that maybe is missing from the guards is
- 1:37:46Speaker 5: Quentin Nelson, who has been day Quinton freaking awesome for
- 1:37:50Speaker 5: like ten years. Like, you know, he's a really good player.
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: But a lot of Fanica fans.
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: The right tackles were Lange Johnson and Willie Anderson. Again
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: no more so nowhere practice squad.
- 1:38:06Speaker 5: They're at right tackle in my opinion, if you're gonna
- 1:38:10Speaker 5: have my Lotta as an honorable mention at left tackle,
- 1:38:14Speaker 5: how is Penny Sewell not in the conversation at right tackle?
- 1:38:17Speaker 5: Like Penny Sewell has been doing it for just as
- 1:38:19Speaker 5: long at this point as my Lotta has and is
- 1:38:24Speaker 5: easily the best right tackle in football at this point.
- 1:38:26Speaker 5: So I would have put Penny Sewell on that list
- 1:38:29Speaker 5: at right tackle, But I Lane Johnson's been the best.
- 1:38:32Speaker 2: So that's the offense. I'm gonna go back to some
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: emails because I want to, unlike Fred, I like to
- 1:38:38Speaker 2: reward the people who take the time, especially when they
- 1:38:41Speaker 2: suck up to us, which is what George is doing.
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: George and Pennsylvania just wanted to send out an email
- 1:38:46Speaker 2: saying I love watching the show. Fred and Paul are hilarious.
- 1:38:49Speaker 2: I love watching Catch twenty two with Evan and Alex.
- 1:38:51Speaker 2: Thank you keep up the great work and love the content. Guys.
- 1:38:55Speaker 2: I have two questions. The first one is he's from Pennsylvania.
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: He will be visiting jill At State next month for
- 1:39:01Speaker 2: training camp. Wondering if players are going to visit fans
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: to maybe meet and greet and sign some merch that's
- 1:39:08Speaker 2: a guarantee. Every day of training camp. It's after practice
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: you can get emails from it's kind of catches catch
- 1:39:15Speaker 2: can every day, but there's usually one position group that
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: will sign specifically for fans also, so that can change
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: varies from day to day, but you will be able
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: to get autographs. I would say any training camp practice day.
- 1:39:31Speaker 5: So actually a few weeks ago was that with my
- 1:39:35Speaker 5: parents and my mom or my dad and know who
- 1:39:38Speaker 5: found it, pulled out a photo of me as a
- 1:39:42Speaker 5: child at Patriots training camp and when the players are signing.
- 1:39:47Speaker 5: And the one that I remember because my sister got
- 1:39:51Speaker 5: an autograph from Brady at one of the training camps
- 1:39:54Speaker 5: and I think she fainted like she was legitimately fainting.
- 1:39:58Speaker 5: But the one, the picture that they took that they
- 1:40:02Speaker 5: showed me happened to be one head coach Mike Rabel
- 1:40:06Speaker 5: in his playing days and little me just like with
- 1:40:09Speaker 5: a big smile on his face.
- 1:40:10Speaker 2: You have a picture of that, Yeah, you should. You
- 1:40:13Speaker 2: should print that out and you should show that.
- 1:40:15Speaker 5: To him and he we still have the his autograph
- 1:40:18Speaker 5: too when when he signed and everything, I have totally
- 1:40:21Speaker 5: forgot about it. I knew we had the Jersey sign.
- 1:40:23Speaker 2: But I to I know there was a there was
- 1:40:24Speaker 2: pictures we used to have, you know, a day they
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: would have a practice, you know, specifically for the employees, right,
- 1:40:32Speaker 2: you know, it's kind of like the employee day that
- 1:40:33Speaker 2: they have now, but the practice would sort of be
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: more geared in the stadium as part of the program.
- 1:40:38Speaker 2: And we were sitting in the front row, and you know,
- 1:40:41Speaker 2: I got my My boys were really young then, and uh,
- 1:40:44Speaker 2: Matt light grabbed my son out of my arms and
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: just had him like on the fields, just holding on
- 1:40:50Speaker 2: to him, and like that was one of those kind
- 1:40:52Speaker 2: of deals. Now he's a junior in college. Yeah, because I'm.
- 1:40:56Speaker 5: Old, don't cry. It's okay.
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: So let's see his second question. This is the other
- 1:41:02Speaker 2: part of the reason why I read this of it's
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: because it's for us. It's more of a grab bag.
- 1:41:06Speaker 2: Sure Celtics related question. Hope this is a short answer,
- 1:41:10Speaker 2: so you guys don't get drilled for taking the Celtics
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: for too long. How do you guys feel about the
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: Drew Holiday trade. I'm a little sad to see him go,
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: but I am excited for the future with Simons and
- 1:41:20Speaker 2: whoever the Celtics get in draft picks thoughts.
- 1:41:23Speaker 5: I was very excited about the trade. Now, maybe my
- 1:41:27Speaker 5: no preconceived notion of what they were going to be
- 1:41:30Speaker 5: able to get was skewed by a lot of the
- 1:41:32Speaker 5: coverage of the Celtics offseason, but I trust people that
- 1:41:35Speaker 5: know more about it than me, and all the conversation
- 1:41:38Speaker 5: about it was Paul that they were gonna basically have
- 1:41:42Speaker 5: to salary dumb Christaph Porzingis and Drew Holidays. So the
- 1:41:45Speaker 5: fact that they got Anthony Simon's back for him, and
- 1:41:48Speaker 5: they actually got an asset and somebody that's averaged twenty
- 1:41:51Speaker 5: points a game and clearly can create his own shot
- 1:41:54Speaker 5: and is a really good offensive player and got to
- 1:41:56Speaker 5: work on his defense, but someone that can get buckets.
- 1:42:00Speaker 5: It's like that guy is a really good offensive player.
- 1:42:02Speaker 5: The fact that they got that in return for Drew
- 1:42:04Speaker 5: Holiday actually was last night. I saw that right before
- 1:42:07Speaker 5: we went to bed, and I was pumped. I was like, yes, like,
- 1:42:09Speaker 5: this is much better than just we just had to
- 1:42:12Speaker 5: get rid of this guy and we're salary dumping Drew Holiday.
- 1:42:15Speaker 5: So I was extremely excited that they were able to
- 1:42:17Speaker 5: get Simon's back in return, and I would like to
- 1:42:20Speaker 5: see him stay. I just think for what they're going
- 1:42:22Speaker 5: to be next year, like, just let that guy go,
- 1:42:26Speaker 5: go get his like, go average twenty a game and
- 1:42:28Speaker 5: go take a bunch of shots. Like they need the offense,
- 1:42:31Speaker 5: they need the firepower without Tatum.
- 1:42:32Speaker 2: So I thought it was a good return for an
- 1:42:37Speaker 2: aging player. You got ninety years of experience. He's only
- 1:42:40Speaker 2: twenty six and Drew was thirty five, so clearly nearing
- 1:42:44Speaker 2: the end. I thought it was a great return. I
- 1:42:46Speaker 2: don't know what the plan is, but I think it
- 1:42:48Speaker 2: was a good, good value asset. And you know what,
- 1:42:53Speaker 2: if you're going to include him in part of the
- 1:42:55Speaker 2: next trade, that's going to enhance that package that you're
- 1:42:58Speaker 2: going to be able to get back. So I like
- 1:43:00Speaker 2: the move in as much as I like Holiday. We
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: all know what the situation is.
- 1:43:05Speaker 5: Significantly better player than I thought they would get back.
- 1:43:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree. One of the things we were talking
- 1:43:09Speaker 2: about earlier of regrets, you know, things that we're worried
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: about the offensive line. Might there have been a guard
- 1:43:18Speaker 2: that they could have got Patrick McCarry that brought up,
- 1:43:23Speaker 2: and uh, yeah, I do think that he has some
- 1:43:25Speaker 2: versatility to play a number of different spots on the line.
- 1:43:29Speaker 2: Hasn't really been, in my view, sort of a front
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: line starting guy, but he's always been capable of starting
- 1:43:36Speaker 2: for the Ravens, and I think he's a guy would
- 1:43:39Speaker 2: have made some sense. Yeah, sixth Man, you brought that
- 1:43:41Speaker 2: into that thanks to you.
- 1:43:43Speaker 5: Yeah, he's got it, the sixth man. That was what
- 1:43:45Speaker 5: he's been, you know, fill in a little bit at tackle,
- 1:43:47Speaker 5: fill in a little bit at guard when he's needed to.
- 1:43:49Speaker 5: But is there a chance that he's a starting caliber
- 1:43:53Speaker 5: player and another team? Yeah, I mean that was that
- 1:43:55Speaker 5: was definitely one of those guys that that was who
- 1:43:57Speaker 5: you were thinking of. I think when you said that
- 1:43:59Speaker 5: earlier the shows.
- 1:44:00Speaker 2: Yeah, you notice that Justin in Virginia. I want to
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: make sure, unlike Fred, I don't want to wait till
- 1:44:05Speaker 2: one fifty eight to get back to the hotline. So
- 1:44:09Speaker 2: Justin in Virginia is next?
- 1:44:11Speaker 16: What's going on? Fellas? I was kind of listening to
- 1:44:14Speaker 16: you guys while I was old, speaking of the thing
- 1:44:17Speaker 16: you said where like you like put your son or
- 1:44:20Speaker 16: Matt like like your.
- 1:44:22Speaker 2: Son out of his arms.
- 1:44:24Speaker 16: The first time I ever called in it was you, Andy,
- 1:44:28Speaker 16: Eric and Fred when I was thirteen years old. I
- 1:44:31Speaker 16: am twenty eight now, and I'm about to be twenty
- 1:44:34Speaker 16: nine in September.
- 1:44:36Speaker 2: Yeah, well I'm fifty seven, So what are you gonna do?
- 1:44:38Speaker 16: Yeah, you're still Yeah. The question I have, young guys
- 1:44:42Speaker 16: is like when it comes to Shamar's Stewart on the Bengals, Like,
- 1:44:47Speaker 16: is it any more complex than just like the Bengals
- 1:44:51Speaker 16: are just kind of like cheap like this historically been,
- 1:44:53Speaker 16: and like the Cardinals are cheap like that.
- 1:44:55Speaker 11: Like what's kind.
- 1:44:57Speaker 8: Of going on there?
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: You know, because it's like, I think it can be
- 1:45:01Speaker 2: as simple as that.
- 1:45:02Speaker 5: Yeah, they're trying to uh break precedent from what I
- 1:45:06Speaker 5: understand of the guaranteed money that every first round picks
- 1:45:11Speaker 5: contract is fully guaranteed per the CBA, and they're trying
- 1:45:15Speaker 5: to break precedent with that.
- 1:45:16Speaker 2: And well I think it's when they get the guarantee
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: and then you know, the injuries and all that stuff. Yeah,
- 1:45:20Speaker 2: I think it's kind I think Justin's got it. I
- 1:45:22Speaker 2: think I think the Bengals are just being.
- 1:45:24Speaker 16: Cheap, all right, you got to take care.
- 1:45:28Speaker 2: Yeah, that's justin the whole.
- 1:45:30Speaker 5: Draft pick wage skill thing is is interesting.
- 1:45:33Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:45:33Speaker 5: Travon Henderson, like you mentioned at the top of the show,
- 1:45:36Speaker 5: is the one pick that's unsigned, and all this this
- 1:45:39Speaker 5: stuff is is UH is historical precedent. And the Texans
- 1:45:43Speaker 5: gave Jayden Higgins a fully guaranteed contract as a second
- 1:45:46Speaker 5: round pick. He was the thirty fourth overall pick.
- 1:45:49Speaker 2: UH.
- 1:45:49Speaker 5: And now there's thirty second round picks that still haven't
- 1:45:54Speaker 5: signed their contracts across the league. So it's not just
- 1:45:57Speaker 5: Travon Henderson because of that, it's because of Jaden Higgins.
- 1:46:00Speaker 5: It's not his fault, but because the Texans gave him
- 1:46:03Speaker 5: a fully guaranteed contracts. So now all the second round
- 1:46:05Speaker 5: picks want a fully guaranteed contract, and so the Texans
- 1:46:10Speaker 5: in a lot of ways kind of.
- 1:46:11Speaker 2: Screw the rest. How do you feel about that? Just
- 1:46:14Speaker 2: you know, from the outside, Like, I.
- 1:46:18Speaker 5: I don't know, I always am I'm typically pro player
- 1:46:22Speaker 5: with these.
- 1:46:22Speaker 2: I'm almost always pro player, but this one I can
- 1:46:24Speaker 2: understand the team side.
- 1:46:26Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean these draft picks are really especially outside
- 1:46:30Speaker 5: the first round or it's kind of a lottery ticket
- 1:46:32Speaker 5: whether or not you really work out. And so to
- 1:46:35Speaker 5: be stuck on you know, with four years of team control.
- 1:46:38Speaker 2: It's not a tremendous amount of money, but like, how
- 1:46:41Speaker 2: would you feel right now? If you were the Patriots
- 1:46:43Speaker 2: with Jalen Polk right right, you know the guarantee. I know,
- 1:46:49Speaker 2: again it's not going to make or break your cap situation,
- 1:46:52Speaker 2: but I understand if they don't want to. I don't
- 1:46:55Speaker 2: think there's sure things. And then even second rounders aren't
- 1:46:57Speaker 2: sure things.
- 1:46:58Speaker 5: No, And it's a sliding scale. So if everybody that
- 1:47:02Speaker 5: was drafted in the thirties gets a guaranteed contract, like
- 1:47:04Speaker 5: when does that stop? Like at what number draft slot
- 1:47:08Speaker 5: does it stop? And now we go to partially and
- 1:47:10Speaker 5: then it just can is a can to pick.
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: The entire draft. If you get drafted, you're guaranteed a
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: you know, guaranteed contract, right. I mean, I don't know,
- 1:47:19Speaker 2: it's tough. I do think that the wage scale has
- 1:47:22Speaker 2: been highly successful in eliminating what was really a problem
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: agreed in terms of a the astronomical salaries that the
- 1:47:31Speaker 2: rookies were getting and b the amount of holdouts and
- 1:47:35Speaker 2: problems that you had and you know, lost time that
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: you can never get back on. Benjamin Watson, Yeah, was
- 1:47:40Speaker 2: part of that, you know, once upon a time. Uh here, Mark,
- 1:47:44Speaker 2: and Connecticut is next up on the PU hotline.
- 1:47:48Speaker 17: Mark, Hey, Paul, good to hear you running.
- 1:47:51Speaker 2: The show, brother, Yeah, I'm doing my best.
- 1:47:55Speaker 8: Evan.
- 1:47:55Speaker 17: You actually took the question right out of my mouth.
- 1:47:58Speaker 17: What I was wondering is what is the deal with
- 1:48:00Speaker 17: Trayvon Henderson?
- 1:48:02Speaker 16: Why he's the only one that is not signed?
- 1:48:05Speaker 4: Now?
- 1:48:05Speaker 17: I know first round picks are guaranteed, but is that
- 1:48:09Speaker 17: really the only hold up now with the second rounders?
- 1:48:12Speaker 17: Now is that you can get guaranteed money?
- 1:48:15Speaker 5: Yeah, So it's it's a combination of guaranteed money and
- 1:48:19Speaker 5: then as Paul said, like payout right scheduling of when
- 1:48:22Speaker 5: the money you actually are going to get the money.
- 1:48:24Speaker 5: You're going to get the money upfront or is it
- 1:48:26Speaker 5: going to get paid out over the course of the
- 1:48:28Speaker 5: season in like a pro rated amount. So like you
- 1:48:30Speaker 5: have to decide those types of things. Those are the
- 1:48:32Speaker 5: negotiation powers you have. But I will say, even though.
- 1:48:36Speaker 17: Anyone where you picked though, Evan, is that like the
- 1:48:39Speaker 17: amount that like is allocated for is what I would say,
- 1:48:42Speaker 17: am I you know?
- 1:48:44Speaker 5: So what I would say is the total value of
- 1:48:46Speaker 5: the contract is set right, That's that's a sign based
- 1:48:50Speaker 5: off your draft slot type of thing. But yep, the
- 1:48:54Speaker 5: structure of the contract and of the payment schedule is
- 1:48:58Speaker 5: a negotiated element. You can negotiate those types of things.
- 1:49:03Speaker 5: So obviously the player is going to want as much
- 1:49:06Speaker 5: guaranteed money up front and the team is going to
- 1:49:10Speaker 5: want to pay it for their security over the life
- 1:49:13Speaker 5: of the contract. And so when exactly that player gets
- 1:49:16Speaker 5: those checks is what gets negotiated this time of year. Now,
- 1:49:21Speaker 5: like I said, just now, thirty out of the thirty
- 1:49:24Speaker 5: two second round picks still have not signed a contract.
- 1:49:27Speaker 5: So this is not just Traveon Henderson. This is a
- 1:49:30Speaker 5: league wide hold up right now on second round picks. Absolutely,
- 1:49:33Speaker 5: So it is not in that sense like it's not
- 1:49:36Speaker 5: Trayvon Henderson's playing hardball, it's all of them are playing hardball.
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: Thanks Mark, Let's see dear pp Laser. Oh, so evidently
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: that is the name of the show. He's a little behind.
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: Heard us talking about cookout versus barbecue. Interesting fact, when
- 1:49:53Speaker 2: he moved to Savannah from New Hampshire, he had a
- 1:49:57Speaker 2: barbecue at his place and people were really disappointed, but
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: because it was just hot dogs and birders. If you
- 1:50:03Speaker 2: say you're having a barbecue in the South, it implies
- 1:50:05Speaker 2: that there's going to be porks such as ribs and
- 1:50:07Speaker 2: so on. And then then they say, if you don't
- 1:50:10Speaker 2: have that, it's just a cookout. And I learned that
- 1:50:13Speaker 2: the hard way.
- 1:50:14Speaker 5: That that's I love that distinction. I think that is
- 1:50:17Speaker 5: a great way of putting it. Now, we don't really
- 1:50:19Speaker 5: do that as much up here, I would say, but
- 1:50:22Speaker 5: there's a difference between like a traditional Fourth of July
- 1:50:25Speaker 5: cookout and like we're smoking. We got the smoker out
- 1:50:28Speaker 5: and we got the ribs going and all that kind
- 1:50:30Speaker 5: of stuff. It's two very different types of food. So
- 1:50:33Speaker 5: I'm with the people in the South.
- 1:50:34Speaker 7: On this one.
- 1:50:35Speaker 5: I like the distinction cookout barbecue.
- 1:50:38Speaker 2: Austin in Oklahoma has been hearing me, in particular, talk
- 1:50:41Speaker 2: about just how athletic Gonzales is and how ridiculously easy
- 1:50:45Speaker 2: he makes catching the ball look he wants kind of
- 1:50:50Speaker 2: not seriously, you know, making him the x.
- 1:50:56Speaker 16: I.
- 1:50:57Speaker 2: He's not really being serious and no, now defense I brought.
- 1:51:01Speaker 5: This up before and people are like, it's not the same.
- 1:51:03Speaker 5: Obviously it's not the same. I've seen him do it
- 1:51:05Speaker 5: in practice, just like when the dbs are like kind
- 1:51:09Speaker 5: of going through the motions with they'll have like the
- 1:51:12Speaker 5: defensive back be the receiver for his teammate and it's
- 1:51:15Speaker 5: not serious it's not a receiver drill. No one's saying that.
- 1:51:19Speaker 5: But I've seen Gonzo do some do some fun things
- 1:51:22Speaker 5: with one handed catches and stuff like that, and those
- 1:51:24Speaker 5: types of drills, and he definitely has a natural ability
- 1:51:27Speaker 5: to catch a football. There's no doubt about that. I
- 1:51:30Speaker 5: don't know if you can run routes, but you can
- 1:51:31Speaker 5: definitely do that.
- 1:51:34Speaker 2: Let's see John's concern. John in Georgia, he's concerned about
- 1:51:39Speaker 2: Drake May's jump from year one. Have you seen him
- 1:51:42Speaker 2: nearly devoting himself? Have you seen him devoting himself to
- 1:51:47Speaker 2: get ready for year two, working out more, adding muscle,
- 1:51:50Speaker 2: hangout with teammates outside of Foxborough. My memory says other
- 1:51:54Speaker 2: quarterbacks in the league have done that, and it gets
- 1:51:56Speaker 2: talked about, but evidence so far doesn't really support that.
- 1:52:00Speaker 2: Should I be worried?
- 1:52:01Speaker 5: Oh no, I mean Drake May has been here the
- 1:52:04Speaker 5: entire spring.
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: He was really here.
- 1:52:08Speaker 5: I I you know, we had heard that he was
- 1:52:10Speaker 5: here even in like going all the way back to February,
- 1:52:14Speaker 5: you know, right after the his his season ended, and
- 1:52:17Speaker 5: then you know, took a little bit of a break,
- 1:52:18Speaker 5: but then came right back. So I think Drake May's
- 1:52:21Speaker 5: doing what Drake May is supposed to be doing, and
- 1:52:23Speaker 5: like Seana Vancouver, say congratulations to him on getting married.
- 1:52:26Speaker 5: It's a very smart time to get married. Shohn's right
- 1:52:28Speaker 5: about that, because then like even your anniversary falls, you know,
- 1:52:32Speaker 5: in a dead time of the NFL calendar, you might know. Yeah,
- 1:52:35Speaker 5: I might know a thing or two about that, So
- 1:52:37Speaker 5: that that's smart. Not unlike you, though, Paul, because you
- 1:52:39Speaker 5: got married.
- 1:52:41Speaker 2: I got married in the middle of the playoffs. Yeah,
- 1:52:43Speaker 2: Frits still watching the games. Yeah, Patriots were not in
- 1:52:46Speaker 2: said playoffs. However, it was two thousand and two. The
- 1:52:49Speaker 2: Patriots did not make.
- 1:52:50Speaker 5: The play Okay, all right, we got lucky there.
- 1:52:52Speaker 2: It's two thousand and two season. I got married in
- 1:52:54Speaker 2: January of two thousand and three. Yeah, let's see. Oh,
- 1:52:59Speaker 2: that's not night Boston cream. That's not nice. Let's be honest.
- 1:53:04Speaker 2: Is Fred not there today because he's finally getting gastric
- 1:53:07Speaker 2: bypass surgery. That's that's just that's just poor to me.
- 1:53:13Speaker 2: Dang shots fire, let's see. Oh Claire, Hello Claire chimes
- 1:53:21Speaker 2: in from high to Ppe and easy and hello marine.
- 1:53:25Speaker 13: Hello Claire.
- 1:53:27Speaker 2: Let me make you grown and ask about the tight ends.
- 1:53:31Speaker 2: What's your super early guess on how many tight ends
- 1:53:33Speaker 2: they go with including the practice squad. Yeah, it's a
- 1:53:37Speaker 2: good question.
- 1:53:37Speaker 5: It's an interesting one. We talked a little bit about
- 1:53:40Speaker 5: it on Catch twenty two last week about do they
- 1:53:43Speaker 5: carry three traditional tight ends on the roster? Do they
- 1:53:47Speaker 5: carry two in a full back? Do they carry three
- 1:53:49Speaker 5: in a full back? Do they need to carry that
- 1:53:52Speaker 5: third tight end if they're going to carry brock Lampy
- 1:53:54Speaker 5: or carry a full back. I'm right now at two
- 1:53:57Speaker 5: in a full back because I don't feel though Bell
- 1:54:01Speaker 5: west Over the pre g Scott, I don't know if
- 1:54:04Speaker 5: those guys have earned it yet to I think they're
- 1:54:07Speaker 5: gonna have to really, like outright earn a roster spot
- 1:54:10Speaker 5: to be carried as a third tight end, and then
- 1:54:12Speaker 5: you have that practice squad flexibility. So my guess is,
- 1:54:15Speaker 5: right now, you have two tight ends on the fifty
- 1:54:17Speaker 5: three plus the full back, and then you have two
- 1:54:20Speaker 5: of those guys signed back with the practice squad, And
- 1:54:22Speaker 5: if there's injuries or there's game plans that you want
- 1:54:25Speaker 5: to have two tights and you call guys up and
- 1:54:27Speaker 5: things like that.
- 1:54:27Speaker 2: So I'm gonna let Joe and Vermont have the last
- 1:54:29Speaker 2: word for the emails because I do want to get
- 1:54:31Speaker 2: to the defense. Oh yeah, real quick before we wrap
- 1:54:34Speaker 2: it up. He thinks the intro to Joker in the
- 1:54:37Speaker 2: Thief would be an awesome walkout song.
- 1:54:39Speaker 5: It's a good song.
- 1:54:40Speaker 2: And he was at the game against the Ravens when
- 1:54:43Speaker 2: Edelman threw the TD pass. Sure, so he wants to
- 1:54:46Speaker 2: know who in the team not named Drake May would
- 1:54:48Speaker 2: be most expected to throw a touchdown pass.
- 1:54:50Speaker 5: Oh, that's a good question. I've seen Kendrick Burn do it.
- 1:54:54Speaker 5: So maybe Kendrick Bourne. I believe you threw a pass
- 1:54:56Speaker 5: in twenty twenty one, if I'm not mistaken. So maybe
- 1:54:59Speaker 5: Kendrick Borne.
- 1:55:00Speaker 2: I think you're right about that. Yeah, Hunter, Henry, Hunter, Henry.
- 1:55:05Speaker 2: That's outside the box, sneaky athletic.
- 1:55:08Speaker 5: Yeah, there you go.
- 1:55:09Speaker 15: Uh.
- 1:55:10Speaker 2: Okay, So defensively on this ESPN PFF quarter century team,
- 1:55:16Speaker 2: DeMarcus Ware and Jared Allen along with Miles Garrett and
- 1:55:21Speaker 2: Julius Peppers.
- 1:55:23Speaker 5: Okay, so those are ends, like do they have no?
- 1:55:26Speaker 2: These are edge these are edge rushers?
- 1:55:28Speaker 5: Okay, So like no, Von Miller didn't get a no.
- 1:55:30Speaker 2: So the practice squad is t J. Watt and Michael Strahan. Huh,
- 1:55:35Speaker 2: I would make the argument absolutely for von Miller, that
- 1:55:39Speaker 2: von Miller belongs.
- 1:55:40Speaker 5: Yeah here.
- 1:55:41Speaker 2: Now, I think Jared Allen would be the first one
- 1:55:44Speaker 2: that I would look at because I think Pepper's, Garrett
- 1:55:47Speaker 2: and Ware. Yeah, they're all better players than von Miller,
- 1:55:50Speaker 2: better career.
- 1:55:51Speaker 5: I wasn't a big Maybe I just didn't see enough
- 1:55:53Speaker 5: of him where he played. But I wasn't a big
- 1:55:55Speaker 5: Jared Allen guy.
- 1:55:56Speaker 2: And I know he's been. He's in the Hall of Fame,
- 1:55:58Speaker 2: I know, and I'm not either. Maybe maybe we both
- 1:56:00Speaker 2: missed the boat on that.
- 1:56:01Speaker 5: Yeah, but like von Miller, to me, like twenty fifteen
- 1:56:04Speaker 5: playoff run for von Miller, he was like basically had
- 1:56:07Speaker 5: like a quarterback like impact on the game.
- 1:56:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:56:10Speaker 5: With the Broncos.
- 1:56:11Speaker 2: Yeah, and I you know they have TJ. Watt and
- 1:56:13Speaker 2: Michael Strahan as the practice squad. Again, von Miller to
- 1:56:16Speaker 2: me better than both.
- 1:56:19Speaker 5: But Dwight Freeneye, no love Dwight Freanie, Yeah, good player.
- 1:56:24Speaker 2: Defensive tackles Aaron Donald, Kaleis Campbell, Chris Jones, hard to argue.
- 1:56:31Speaker 2: I don't think. I don't think any of us has
- 1:56:32Speaker 2: any argument there. Practice squad is Kevin Williams and Cameron Hayward.
- 1:56:37Speaker 2: Here's where I have an issue.
- 1:56:38Speaker 5: Cam Hayward fan.
- 1:56:41Speaker 2: Better than Richard Seymour.
- 1:56:44Speaker 5: That's fair, that's fair.
- 1:56:46Speaker 2: I don't want to go all you know, happy Homer
- 1:56:49Speaker 2: on you, but Richard Seymour is in the Hall of Fame.
- 1:56:51Speaker 5: No, yeah, yeah, Williams probably probably better than Williams.
- 1:56:56Speaker 2: So I had an issue with that one nose tackle
- 1:57:00Speaker 2: Vince will Ford, big Vince. So I think that he definitely,
- 1:57:05Speaker 2: you know, the only one they have listed. They don't
- 1:57:07Speaker 2: even have a practice squad. It's Casey Hampton. I think
- 1:57:10Speaker 2: he benefits. Like to me, Kevin Williams is more of that. Yeah,
- 1:57:15Speaker 2: they had Pat Williams and Kevin Williams there for those years.
- 1:57:17Speaker 2: Is the two defensive tackles in Minnesota. This is kind
- 1:57:22Speaker 2: of interesting. This is one of those it's cheap, way
- 1:57:24Speaker 2: out versatile defensive lineman JJ Watt and I heard by
- 1:57:29Speaker 2: Buddy Andy talking about this yesterday.
- 1:57:30Speaker 5: It's an edge guy.
- 1:57:33Speaker 2: I have no problem with that because he belongs on
- 1:57:35Speaker 2: the team somewhere. But couldn't you just put him on
- 1:57:37Speaker 2: a position.
- 1:57:38Speaker 5: Like did we really need to have Jared Allen? I'm sorry,
- 1:57:41Speaker 5: I don't need to be keep picking on Jared Allen.
- 1:57:42Speaker 2: Maybe we missed it. I don't know.
- 1:57:44Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe I gotta go to NFL Films and watch it.
- 1:57:46Speaker 2: So I have some problems with the linebackers too. They
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: picked five starts off. Okay, ray Lewis, have no issue there.
- 1:57:56Speaker 2: Bobby Wagner, I'm probably okay with that one too. Needs
- 1:58:00Speaker 2: to do a little more research. Brian or Lacker Levante,
- 1:58:04Speaker 2: David Luke Keikley. So Luke Keikley I have is better
- 1:58:08Speaker 2: than both those guys, David and I don't think David
- 1:58:12Speaker 2: is as good as another buck. Derek Brooks, who was
- 1:58:16Speaker 2: listed as a practice squad guy. Now I'd have to
- 1:58:18Speaker 2: go back and look specifically the years, but I mean
- 1:58:22Speaker 2: he was a huge part of the O two Super
- 1:58:24Speaker 2: Bowl team, so he had to have a lot of
- 1:58:26Speaker 2: success in the Yeah, I would think maybe too much
- 1:58:28Speaker 2: of his.
- 1:58:29Speaker 5: In THETS late nineties. Derek Brooks to me, good player,
- 1:58:34Speaker 5: really good.
- 1:58:36Speaker 2: He's the second best player on this list behind ray Lewis.
- 1:58:38Speaker 5: I know he didn't have the full Keikley retired pretty early,
- 1:58:44Speaker 5: but I would say Keithley's probably up there for me
- 1:58:47Speaker 5: other than ray Lewis.
- 1:58:48Speaker 2: Cornerbacks Drell Reeves and champ Bailey along with Rondez Barber
- 1:58:53Speaker 2: and Richard Sherman.
- 1:58:55Speaker 5: So I have an issue with Sherman.
- 1:58:56Speaker 2: Oh, I'm sorry, and Patrick Peterson, I'm not.
- 1:58:59Speaker 5: I'm not a in the Sherman. You know, dude, do
- 1:59:01Speaker 5: your Seattle three corner on your own time, you know, Like,
- 1:59:04Speaker 5: I give me somebody that that actually shadowed guys. And
- 1:59:07Speaker 5: I'm not a big Richard Sherman guy, but fine. I
- 1:59:10Speaker 5: mean champ Bailey to.
- 1:59:12Speaker 2: Me, is who's our buddy in in Virginia? Emery Emory
- 1:59:18Speaker 2: Emory in Virginia. I think he had This is where
- 1:59:20Speaker 2: you have a beef. Where's the Sante Samuel? Like the
- 1:59:23Speaker 2: practice squad is Jalen Ramsey. Yeah, okay, so these are
- 1:59:26Speaker 2: all good players, yep. Okay, Santa Samuel is as good
- 1:59:29Speaker 2: as these guys.
- 1:59:30Speaker 5: Tylaw is as good as these guys.
- 1:59:32Speaker 2: So I'm gonna say that high Law too much nineties.
- 1:59:35Speaker 2: Sure Santa Samuel doesn't have that, you don't have that
- 1:59:38Speaker 2: fallback for him?
- 1:59:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I I understand. Uh, you know obviously Revas and
- 1:59:43Speaker 5: uh champ Bailey, I I've had like with all this,
- 1:59:48Speaker 5: like he got a lot of comps with Travis Hunter
- 1:59:50Speaker 5: and stuff. I and I you know, you do a
- 1:59:52Speaker 5: little bit more digging on how good Champ Bailey really was.
- 1:59:55Speaker 5: I mean, Champ Bailey was the hell of a player.
- 1:59:57Speaker 5: So I can't argue with those two. But the other
- 1:59:58Speaker 5: ones I think are debatable.
- 2:00:00Speaker 2: Yeah, so I would say Samuel deserves to be in
- 2:00:05Speaker 2: that conversation. At the very least, safety's Ed Reid, who's
- 2:00:09Speaker 2: one of the greatest safety who's ever played, Troy Polamalu,
- 2:00:12Speaker 2: Brian Dawkins, Earl Thomas.
- 2:00:14Speaker 5: So here's another one like Brian Dawkins, a little overrated
- 2:00:18Speaker 5: to me, Hall of Famer, good player. I'm not a
- 2:00:21Speaker 5: big Brian Dawkins guy.
- 2:00:22Speaker 2: I don't remember Brian Dawkins spending a couple of years
- 2:00:25Speaker 2: with Denver at the end of his career.
- 2:00:27Speaker 5: He's a really good player, like I'm not. But all
- 2:00:31Speaker 5: Century teams, all Century team, I don't know if I
- 2:00:33Speaker 5: had had Brian Dawkins on that.
- 2:00:34Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know, five years in the nineties, ninety six, seven, eight,
- 2:00:37Speaker 2: well four years in the nineties, Yeah, I don't know.
- 2:00:42Speaker 2: And I think Cam Chancellor sort of gets some short
- 2:00:45Speaker 2: shift here. Charles Woodson is the practice squad player, so
- 2:00:49Speaker 2: that that sort of does it for the defense. Just
- 2:00:52Speaker 2: wrapping it up here. The kicker is Justin Tucker. The
- 2:00:55Speaker 2: punter is Shane Leckler, The return guy is Devin Hester.
- 2:00:59Speaker 2: The cover guy, no surprise, is our buddy Matthew Slater.
- 2:01:03Speaker 2: The long snapper is Morgan Cox.
- 2:01:06Speaker 5: Joe Cardona snubbed.
- 2:01:07Speaker 2: Okay, what do you think for? Do you already see
- 2:01:09Speaker 2: all this? So you know the coaching staff now, obviously
- 2:01:11Speaker 2: Belichick is the coach. The head coach, I think that's
- 2:01:14Speaker 2: a no brainer. Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, such a loser.
- 2:01:19Speaker 2: Defensive coordinator is Wade Phillips. Special teams guy Dave Tobb,
- 2:01:22Speaker 2: the longtime Kansas City chiefs.
- 2:01:24Speaker 5: I didn't actually see that, but it should be Kyle Shannon.
- 2:01:27Speaker 5: So I'm glad it's Kyle Shanner.
- 2:01:29Speaker 2: You kind of probably knew that. But by the way
- 2:01:31Speaker 2: I was setting it up too, that one went really fast,
- 2:01:34Speaker 2: And I got to be honest with you, I did
- 2:01:36Speaker 2: not expect it to go fast because I thought that
- 2:01:38Speaker 2: Evan and I would be dragging with not a lot
- 2:01:40Speaker 2: of news to talk about. The weather is beautiful. I
- 2:01:44Speaker 2: didn't really feel like there'd be a lot of people online,
- 2:01:47Speaker 2: you know, taking part. But I want to thank everyone
- 2:01:50Speaker 2: who spent some time with us, and that will not
- 2:01:53Speaker 2: be the last time you hear from us this week.
- 2:01:55Speaker 2: We'll be back on Thursday. I think Deuce will be back,
- 2:01:58Speaker 2: I believe, So I don't think Fred will be back
- 2:02:00Speaker 2: when we have a Catch twenty two Extravaganta.
- 2:02:02Speaker 5: Yes, catching too tomorrow and then Pp and the duston
- 2:02:06Speaker 5: Lazaar on Thursday.
- 2:02:07Speaker 2: All right, so we'll make my host on Thursday so
- 2:02:10Speaker 2: I can get back to my tom foolery, which is
- 2:02:12Speaker 2: what I do best. I want to again thank everyone
- 2:02:15Speaker 2: for helping out today, because it's not easy to do
- 2:02:17Speaker 2: a show when you're not used to hosting, and you
- 2:02:20Speaker 2: guys made it easy. So we'll talk to you on Thursday.
- 2:02:25Speaker 1: Hey, this is Deuce.
- 2:02:26Speaker 2: Thanks for tuning into the show.
- 2:02:27Speaker 3: If you really want to help us, make sure you
- 2:02:29Speaker 3: like us wherever you get your podcasts, like Apple Podcasts
- 2:02:32Speaker 3: or Spotify.
- 2:02:32Speaker 1: Also make sure you follow.
- 2:02:34Speaker 3: Us on the New England Patriots YouTube channel to see
- 2:02:35Speaker 3: this show and everything else that we do here at
- 2:02:37Speaker 3: the Patriots.
- 2:02:38Speaker 2: Thanks a lot,
