- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, guys, we're going to get into the numbers
- 0:02Speaker 1: of this one and then the five things I need
- 0:04Speaker 1: to see. Okay, so listen, not a good week last
- 0:07Speaker 1: week against Missouri. It is time for a bounce back.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Florida obviously sitting at 4-1, South Carolina at 2-3, but
- 0:14Speaker 1: they are 0-3 in conference play. They did lose last
- 0:18Speaker 1: week 35-34 in overtime to Kentucky. Kentucky had to score
- 0:21Speaker 1: that two-point conversion at the end to win. You know, this...
- 0:26Speaker 1: This Missouri game, it doesn't concern me that Florida lost.
- 0:30Speaker 1: It concerns me how thoroughly Missouri dominated both lines of scrimmage.
- 0:35Speaker 1: That can't happen against South Carolina. And that is what
- 0:39Speaker 1: I'm looking to see if Florida can rebound from. In
- 0:43Speaker 1: the series, Florida holds a 31-10 advantage. Um, there have
- 0:51Speaker 1: been three ties all time in this one. And obviously
- 0:54Speaker 1: the most famous one, we were supposed to have them
- 0:56Speaker 1: on this morning. We're hoping it'll happen again tomorrow. It'll
- 0:58Speaker 1: happen tomorrow morning. Jarvis Moss, the most famous one when
- 1:02Speaker 1: Florida blocked that, uh, he actually blocked multiple kicks in
- 1:06Speaker 1: that game, but the last one to send Florida to
- 1:09Speaker 1: the SEC championship, they beat South Carolina, 17, 16. It
- 1:13Speaker 1: was Steve Spurrier's return to the swamp as South Carolina's
- 1:17Speaker 1: head coach. That was a 48-yard field goal with eight
- 1:20Speaker 1: seconds left that Jarvis blocked. He did have two blocked
- 1:23Speaker 1: in that game, and obviously Florida would go on to
- 1:26Speaker 1: win the national title. I feel like we can't talk
- 1:28Speaker 1: about Florida-South Carolina without at least mentioning that I think sometimes,
- 1:34Speaker 1: you know, a season, if you had to describe it
- 1:36Speaker 1: in one play, you would describe that play. And if you're,
- 1:39Speaker 1: if you're watching this, I saw somebody comment, they were
- 1:41Speaker 1: at that game. I was too. I'll tell you something
- 1:43Speaker 1: absolutely absurd. Jarvis Moss was my husband, Eric Wilber's roommate
- 1:46Speaker 1: that year, and he was suspended the week before that game.
- 1:49Speaker 1: And he was pretty upset about it. And the day
- 1:52Speaker 1: before the game, he told me, I am going to
- 1:54Speaker 1: win that game. I, you watch Allie, I will win
- 1:57Speaker 1: that game. And so then, you know, He did. He
- 2:01Speaker 1: won that game. He actually had a broken finger on
- 2:05Speaker 1: that hand too, so the way that it was wrapped up,
- 2:09Speaker 1: it all played out perfectly. All right, guys, we're going
- 2:12Speaker 1: to get into the five things I need to see,
- 2:14Speaker 1: but first we're going to give a little love to
- 2:16Speaker 1: prize picks, and I'm going to show you guys how
- 2:18Speaker 1: to set up a lineup. So first of all, I
- 2:21Speaker 1: want you to download the app. If you are a
- 2:23Speaker 1: new user, play a $ 5 lineup. Use our code. It's HMA.
- 2:26Speaker 1: If you win, you'll get $ 150 in lineups instantly. Aaron
- 2:30Speaker 1: Filo is at 221.5 passing yards. It's going to be wet.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I think I'm going to go less on that one.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Dallas Wilson at 44.5 receiving yards. I'm going to go
- 2:42Speaker 1: more there. Now, this one burned me last week, but
- 2:46Speaker 1: I'm a glutton for punishment. I'm coming back around. It's
- 2:50Speaker 1: Jaden Baugh 0.5 anytime touchdowns. I'm going to go the
- 2:54Speaker 1: more on that. I'm also going to go the more
- 2:57Speaker 1: on Jaden Baugh 119.5 rushing yards. I do think this
- 3:01Speaker 1: is a get right game for him. Lenora Sellers at 0.5
- 3:04Speaker 1: passing touchdowns. I also like the more on that. And
- 3:08Speaker 1: then Sellers is at 221.5 passing yards. I like the
- 3:11Speaker 1: less on that. I do think this is going to
- 3:13Speaker 1: be really wet. I think that both teams are going
- 3:16Speaker 1: to want to run the ball a lot. So I
- 3:18Speaker 1: don't foresee. a ton of passing yards. But all you
- 3:22Speaker 1: got to do is put a couple of things like
- 3:23Speaker 1: that together in a lineup. You hit submit. It's that simple.
- 3:27Speaker 1: We want to give a big thank you to Price
- 3:29Speaker 1: Picks for all their support. Don't forget, if you haven't already,
- 3:32Speaker 1: download it, play a $ 5 lineup, use our code. It's HMA.
- 3:35Speaker 1: You win, you'll get $ 150 in lineups instantly. Okay. So
- 3:40Speaker 1: this is one of my favorite subjects we do every week.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Five things that I need to see. Number one, a
- 3:47Speaker 1: completely different offensive line. Um, this is number one and
- 3:51Speaker 1: it's not particularly close. Florida surrendered three sacks and 11
- 3:54Speaker 1: tackles for a loss against Missouri. The Gators only had
- 3:56Speaker 1: 42 rushing yards. Ball was never able to get anything
- 4:01Speaker 1: going at all. This offense can't function if the offensive
- 4:04Speaker 1: line consistently loses at the point of attack. This was,
- 4:08Speaker 1: I think the worst case scenario of what we were
- 4:11Speaker 1: expecting this summer. We kept saying this, this team has
- 4:13Speaker 1: so many talented skill players. If the offensive line can
- 4:16Speaker 1: be serviceable, they're going to be able to score a
- 4:19Speaker 1: lot of points. And then the first four games, I
- 4:20Speaker 1: think the offensive line was better than we had maybe
- 4:23Speaker 1: hoped it could be. It was worse last Saturday than
- 4:26Speaker 1: we ever thought possible. And South Carolina will have watched
- 4:31Speaker 1: every snap of Missouri's defensive performance. So I need to
- 4:34Speaker 1: see better communication, more physicality, cleaner protection, and a rushing
- 4:38Speaker 1: attack that doesn't constantly leave Florida behind the chains. I
- 4:43Speaker 1: need to know, was Missouri just a terrible matchup, which
- 4:46Speaker 1: is what I think it was, or is Florida's offensive
- 4:48Speaker 1: line not nearly as good as we thought? Number two,
- 4:51Speaker 1: I need Jaden Baugh to look like Jaden Baugh again,
- 4:53Speaker 1: and that is obviously linked to number one. I want
- 4:56Speaker 1: to see Florida reestablish its offensive identity. Again, against Ole Miss,
- 5:00Speaker 1: 142 yards, three touchdowns on 29 carries. Then he has
- 5:04Speaker 1: 13 yards on 12 carries against Missouri. Florida can't let
- 5:09Speaker 1: opposing defenses dictate whether Jaden Baugh is involved in this
- 5:12Speaker 1: offense or not. Buster must find ways to get Baugh
- 5:16Speaker 1: into space if the interior run game isn't working. I
- 5:19Speaker 1: need Baugh to get meaningful touches early, run with confidence,
- 5:23Speaker 1: and force South Carolina to respect the ground game. I
- 5:27Speaker 1: want to know if South Carolina stacks the box. Is
- 5:30Speaker 1: Florida willing and able, that's probably the most important part,
- 5:34Speaker 1: to punish them for it? Number three, I need to
- 5:37Speaker 1: see a defense that can contain Lenora Sellers. I think
- 5:40Speaker 1: this might be the most important individual matchup of the game.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Sellers ran for 147 yards against Kentucky. His 74-yard run
- 5:48Speaker 1: shows how quickly he can change a game. Florida struggled
- 5:51Speaker 1: with tackling and gap integrity and explosive plays and, I mean,
- 5:56Speaker 1: I guess everything on Saturday. Did they fix it? Can
- 6:00Speaker 1: they fix it? Because Lenora Sellers is incredibly dangerous. I
- 6:04Speaker 1: need to see disciplined rushing lanes. I need to see
- 6:06Speaker 1: linebackers filling their gaps and defenders tackling Sellers without allowing
- 6:10Speaker 1: him to escape outside. After what Jamal Roberts did to
- 6:14Speaker 1: this defense, how confident are we in Florida's ability to
- 6:17Speaker 1: contain one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the SEC?
- 6:21Speaker 1: My number four is better defensive adjustments. I think that
- 6:24Speaker 1: was one of the biggest frustrations about Missouri. It didn't
- 6:28Speaker 1: feel like Florida had the ability to change the direction
- 6:33Speaker 1: of the game after halftime. Missouri scored on its opening
- 6:37Speaker 1: possession of the third quarter. Florida's offense went scoreless in
- 6:40Speaker 1: the third. Explosive plays continued well into the fourth quarter.
- 6:43Speaker 1: The defense looked increasingly overwhelmed. I need to see a
- 6:47Speaker 1: defense that adjusts when something isn't working. Get off the
- 6:50Speaker 1: field on third down. Don't allow a bad series to
- 6:54Speaker 1: become a bad quarter. We talk about that a lot
- 6:56Speaker 1: in this game. And on this show, one thing can't
- 7:00Speaker 1: lead to another. One bad play can't turn into two
- 7:03Speaker 1: and let things snowball. That's what Florida needs to be
- 7:06Speaker 1: able to nip in the bud. We talk about player execution,
- 7:09Speaker 1: but how much responsibility does the coaching staff bear when
- 7:12Speaker 1: opponents keep exploiting the same weaknesses? And we listened to
- 7:15Speaker 1: this coaching staff this weekend talk about like, if it
- 7:18Speaker 1: was one thing, we would change that one thing. But
- 7:20Speaker 1: there are multiple players involved in a lot of these
- 7:22Speaker 1: broken plays. There are multiple schemes involved in these broken plays.
- 7:26Speaker 1: So there is a lot to work on and it
- 7:28Speaker 1: needed to happen quickly. And then number five is leadership discipline.
- 7:33Speaker 1: And I need to see a response worthy of a
- 7:36Speaker 1: ranked team. And, you know, this is where I want
- 7:39Speaker 1: to focus on Summerall's culture. How does this football team
- 7:42Speaker 1: respond after getting embarrassed? Who are the leaders when things
- 7:46Speaker 1: get uncomfortable? Will Florida commit the same undisciplined penalties? Does
- 7:51Speaker 1: this team play with urgency from the opening kickoff? I
- 7:54Speaker 1: want to see energy. I want to see composure, accountability,
- 7:58Speaker 1: players taking ownership of what happened against Missouri. John Summerall
- 8:02Speaker 1: has repeatedly talked about the difference between good teams and
- 8:05Speaker 1: great teams, and he always says that great teams are player-led.
- 8:10Speaker 1: They need player leadership. Well, this is exactly when you
- 8:13Speaker 1: find out what kind of leadership you have. All right, guys,
- 8:18Speaker 1: so then the three keys to victory, and then we're
- 8:21Speaker 1: going to give a prediction. I'll see if there's any
- 8:23Speaker 1: questions on the side, and then we'll go ahead and
- 8:25Speaker 1: get out of here. I really think Florida, number one,
- 8:28Speaker 1: this is my number one key to victory. Establish Jaden
- 8:33Speaker 1: Baugh and the running game. Win the line of scrimmage.
- 8:38Speaker 1: If you win the line of scrimmage, that keeps Aaron
- 8:40Speaker 1: Filo clean, that avoids negative plays and second-long situations. It
- 8:43Speaker 1: gives the offense manageable third downs. You can do all
- 8:48Speaker 1: of those things. And if you win the line of
- 8:50Speaker 1: scrimmage defensively, you get pressure without losing containment. You control
- 8:54Speaker 1: the interior running lanes. You make South Carolina earn its
- 8:57Speaker 1: yards instead of surrendering explosives. Florida doesn't have to dominate
- 9:02Speaker 1: every snap, but it absolutely cannot get pushed around the
- 9:05Speaker 1: way it did against Missouri. Key number two to winning
- 9:08Speaker 1: this game is to make Lenora Sellers beat you from
- 9:11Speaker 1: the pocket. South Carolina has a quarterback capable of taking
- 9:14Speaker 1: over a football game with his legs. Keep him contained.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Make him work through his progressions. You just listened to
- 9:21Speaker 1: Jamie talk about how he doesn't necessarily see the field well.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Force third and long situations. Don't let broken plays become
- 9:28Speaker 1: 30- or 40-yard games. And tackle in space. Sellers is
- 9:32Speaker 1: dangerous enough throwing the football. The last thing Florida needs
- 9:36Speaker 1: is to let him become the leading rusher for South
- 9:38Speaker 1: Carolina as well. Key number three, start fast and make
- 9:43Speaker 1: South Carolina uncomfortable. The Gamecocks are actually very good at
- 9:47Speaker 1: starting fast. You just have to look back to last
- 9:49Speaker 1: week to see that they started 17-0 against Kentucky. Obviously,
- 9:52Speaker 1: they lost that league and they lost the game, but
- 9:55Speaker 1: they generally come out fast. They're coming off of an
- 9:58Speaker 1: emotionally crushing defense. defeat. Florida needs to take advantage of that.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Score on an early possession. Get the home crowd involved.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Force South Carolina to play from behind. Avoid turnovers that
- 10:08Speaker 1: provide short fields. Put together a complete four-quarter performance. South
- 10:13Speaker 1: Carolina is a dangerous team. When you have nothing to lose,
- 10:16Speaker 1: when you feel like your back is up against the wall,
- 10:19Speaker 1: you are dangerous. It's a team searching for confidence, though.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Florida cannot give them that confidence back.
