- 2:27Speaker 1: And then today Tuesday, January seventh, the dramatic motorcade of
- 2:36Speaker 1: President Carter, who as we know, passed away at age
- 2:38Speaker 1: one hundred, going to the Capitol. This is quite a week,
- 2:45Speaker 1: and a better week, a more peaceful week, and a
- 2:50Speaker 1: week that is solemn because we are honoring the loss
- 2:53Speaker 1: of the thirty ninth president who passed away at age
- 2:56Speaker 1: one hundred. It's got to make you emotional. And maybe
- 3:01Speaker 1: at the end of the week for the one leg
- 3:02Speaker 1: Up on News feature, I will combine all that was
- 3:05Speaker 1: this week, whether it was Kamala Harris certifying the election
- 3:11Speaker 1: or the motorcade to the Capitol in such ceremonial, honorable fashion,
- 3:23Speaker 1: and then of course maybe some trump isms that he
- 3:26Speaker 1: did have a press conference above all this, he did
- 3:29Speaker 1: have a press conference. They maybe I'll include a bit
- 3:31Speaker 1: of what he had to say. Because he wants to
- 3:33Speaker 1: named the Gulf of Mexico Gulf of America.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Were going to be changing the name of the Gulf
- 3:39Speaker 3: of Mexico to the Gulf of America.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Maybe it'll be a part of my weekly recap of
- 3:46Speaker 1: the days that were in DC, as they right now
- 3:50Speaker 1: are bringing the former president, the thirty ninth president into
- 3:57Speaker 1: the Capitol rotunda. Saw over the weekend this touching story
- 4:03Speaker 1: by Chip Carter I'm referring to. He said this about
- 4:08Speaker 1: his father's dedication as a parent.
- 4:13Speaker 3: When I was in the eighth grade, I failed. I
- 4:15Speaker 3: brought home at Christmas f in Latin. I didn't see
- 4:20Speaker 3: any reason to learn Latin. Nobody I knew spoke it
- 4:22Speaker 3: very much. My father was not pleased, and so the
- 4:29Speaker 3: next morning he came into my room and said, we
- 4:31Speaker 3: were on Christmas vacation. He said, you have your Latin book.
- 4:34Speaker 3: I said yes, He said, let.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Me have it.
- 4:37Speaker 3: He went to work at Carters Warehouse, and when he
- 4:40Speaker 3: came home that night, we spent an hour and a
- 4:42Speaker 3: half him teaching me Latin that he had learned from
- 4:45Speaker 3: my book that day. He did that every day of
- 4:50Speaker 3: Christmas vacation and the first day of the school year.
- 4:54Speaker 3: After Christmas, I went to my teacher and asked if
- 4:59Speaker 3: she let me take the fi over again that she
- 5:01Speaker 3: had given us the midterm test and she said yes.
- 5:04Speaker 3: So after school that day I took that test and
- 5:07Speaker 3: I made a hundred. I owed it to my father,
- 5:12Speaker 3: who spent that kind of time with me. It was
- 5:16Speaker 3: an amazing man, and he was held up and propped
- 5:20Speaker 3: up and soozing man, and that was difficult for all
- 5:23Speaker 3: of us, but he was an amazing man, and he
- 5:29Speaker 3: was held up and propped up and soothed by an
- 5:31Speaker 3: amazing woman.
- 5:34Speaker 4: And the two of them together changed the world because
- 5:39Speaker 4: it was an amazing thing to watch from so close
- 5:42Speaker 4: and to be able to be involved him. I'll thank
- 5:46Speaker 4: you for your service.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Pretty moving, if you ask me.
- 5:50Speaker 2: So.
- 5:50Speaker 1: This whole week has been and then of course President
- 5:54Speaker 1: Biden with the Presidential Medal of Freedoms being awarded to
- 5:58Speaker 1: Michael J. Fox, Magic Johnson, I guess Hillary Clinton as
- 6:02Speaker 1: well as George Soros. It's been a whirlwind of a week,
- 6:06Speaker 1: hasn't it. And we're only at Tuesday. Along the Washington
- 6:10Speaker 1: streets they have literally blocked off today for the former president.
- 6:17Speaker 1: And I mean, if this doesn't get you choked up,
- 6:22Speaker 1: If this doesn't get you choked up, I don't know
- 6:24Speaker 1: what it will. I mean, this motorcade is really something special.
- 6:29Speaker 4: To watch.
- 6:29Speaker 1: I want to bring you a little coverage of it
- 6:31Speaker 1: as it has been quite a week in Washington and
- 6:33Speaker 1: it's only Tuesday. As the former president, the Thurday, ninth
- 6:37Speaker 1: President of the United States, lies in state this week
- 6:41Speaker 1: and then is honored on Thursday, January ninth, twenty five
- 6:48Speaker 1: in Washington, DC.
