Nolan: As I alluded to earlier, a lot of things have dropped in the past three and a half weeks. ⁓ For the sake of time and for the sake of my sanity, I am not going to be covering everything that released in those past three weeks because that would be a day-long stream if you're, if we're being honest. So yeah. Yes. Yes. ⁓ And as fate would have it, Jesus: Yes. ⁓ Yes. We would be here for so many hours just trying to go through all the ups and downs of it. Yes. Nolan: This week was a nice little calm dive back into it for the News Nuggets. So there's not really going to be much of News Nuggets, just a couple box office things that we're going to cover. And we are going to cover a lot of trailer reviews as well as recapping Daredevil, Born Again Season 2 finale, as well as The Boys. Jalen's going to dive into Mall Shadowlord for us to let us know how he liked it, how it kind of compares to the other Star Wars things coming about right now. ⁓ And we're gonna, know, since we can do it, we're gonna, you know, some of the trailers, you know, we're just gonna play them. We're gonna play them while we're talking about them, let the people know, cause we got it like that. We can do it, you know, we're not gonna be talking about much else. So, ⁓ don't even have TikTok, but I should make Kiyoti do it and just make him, yeah. ⁓ yeah, definitely. That's what we're doing. ⁓ Jesus: We gotta make TikTok reels. That's why we're doing it, We're just gonna be honest, guys. We're gonna make TikTok reels. that's why we need the content. We're gonna do it that way. Nolan: But let's dive into it. Let's get this train rolling. ⁓ Let me see. First thing we're going to talk about, because I did a little bit of a refresher on my plane ⁓ ride. I watched the first Devil Wears Prada again just to kind of refresh. And it still holds up. It was a great movie. And number two has just recently released, ⁓ I believe two weeks ago. Jesus: Still an amazing movie. It's just so good. Nolan: No, no, sorry last weekend and It came out swinging. I mean, there's not much else you can really say about it It tallied up to 233 million in the first three days worldwide for a rom-com More comedy than a rom but rom-com Esque movie getting a sequel a near what 20 years after the first one released? and it swung in and got 233 million worldwide. ⁓ I think the world is healing, Jalen. Hollywood is healing. ⁓ That's the only way I can really describe this. We are getting ⁓ great numbers for this movie. From the reviews that I've seen, it seems like they've come out and done exactly what they were hoping they would for this sequel. What are your thoughts on this dynamic showing? Jesus: Yeah. Yes Nolan: for Devil Wears Prada 2. Jesus: I mean good for Dwares P. Everybody loves some Dwares P. Okay. Nobody's ever upset with that movie. It's a great movie. I don't care. You can miss me with the... That's right. That's right. ⁓ And like I just said, there's so many great people in the first one. Like Emily Blunt's just like sneakily in the first one that kind of got her like into the, right, into the zeitgeist of things and all that other stuff too. So I mean... Nolan: And Hathaway is the national treasure. Don't you forget it. Mm-hmm, before she blew up. Jesus: It was one of those things where if Anne Hathaway isn't gonna come back and do it and they got Meryl Streep to come back and do it, right, and then they got Emily Blunt to come back and do it, then you know they had to be cooking. So clearly the numbers are reflecting that they definitely cooked. Well done, congratulations. I will probably be taking my mom to go see it this weekend. Yes. Nolan: Right on, right on. ⁓ I don't know if I'll have time. We've got a lot of things going, club season starting back up again, so I'll see if I can get out there and go see it. But ⁓ another movie that has ⁓ graced the silver screen that we do have to talk about. Michael, this upcoming weekend, they are positioned to pass 500 million worldwide in its third weekend. ⁓ Jesus: Mm. Mm-hmm. That's right. Nolan: You know? Jesus: Anybody that thought this movie wasn't gonna make money is frankly dumb. Like, Michael, like, there's so many TikToks about how excited people are to go to the theater and just be ready to dance and have a good time and like enjoy the film and all those kinds of things. Reviews have been pretty, I mean, they've been pretty consistent. Like, it's just a good time. Like, that's from the DLDR for most things that I've seen. So, yeah, good for Michael. This is not a shock to me. I'm just wondering if maybe... Nolan: Yes. Yes. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah, yeah. Jesus: how much legs it has, maybe it gets maybe like Avengers 1 numbers maybe. Nolan: Yeah, yeah. I mean, let's let's let's, you know, let's ⁓ let's talk about the elephant in the room, though. Obviously, the the reviews have not been fantastic for the film. Obviously, if you're if you're a big fan of the music itself, ⁓ everyone says you're going to have a grand old time because it's all the bangers. Come on. Like, it's the bangers of Michael Jackson. ⁓ Jesus: Who's to say? Small wager. Not overly, no. Nolan: But they did say that, you know, there was a little empty on the story plot line of everything. seemed like he, Michael could do no wrong. It was framed as that kind of biopic where it didn't seem like there was any real travesties going on other than his upbringing with with Joseph Jackson. ⁓ But Jesus: Right, they didn't dive into the Neverland or the kids or... right. Which is like... Nolan: Yeah, and they said that this ends around 88, I believe is where they said that this first one because they're going to be doing the second one just got greenlit. So they're going to be starting filming on that probably end of year, maybe beginning of 2027. ⁓ But for everyone who has forgotten, they did dive into some of those allegations during the filming and during production. But the Jackson estate completely forgot they weren't allowed to legally ⁓ depict a certain person in any sort of film media thing and they had to cut and edit and rework everything for this film which may been why it resulted in such a slightly empty feeling ⁓ plotline for the film but nonetheless yeah there was like a huge NDA kind of thing where Jesus: Mm-hmm. I believe that was one of the settlement from like the Neverland things. like, yeah. Nolan: I'm not mentioned ever, ever, ever. So we'll see how this finishes out. I'm not going to be surprised if this one just eclipses a billion because of what it is. It's Michael Jackson and his greatest hits. ⁓ How the second one will turn out or how it will perform, that'll be up in the air because if we're being honest, if we're calling a spade a spade, second half Michael Jackson singles weren't necessarily the same bangers. Jesus: Right. Nolan: the first half of Michael Jackson's solo career was. Though there are amazing songs and hits in their own right, ⁓ he had a great longevity to his career as a performer. ⁓ But it is going to be a film that probably will be a little bit more eclipsed with the allegations, the things that he's had to overcome, things that he's had to face in that latter part of his life. ⁓ So it could be something that is a little bit more critic. Jesus: Mm-hmm. Nolan: friendly so that it does kind of give you something more meaty to chew on but we'll have to just kind of get and see how this one first turns out finishes Jesus: The second one definitely is gonna have to deal with like the 90s era Michael, which was always very much like he never He was never an artist that was gonna like progress with how music was sounding and then that's just kind of where like the 90s into the 2000s Michael Jackson kind of ended up like everything still sounded like they were trying to capture the lightning in the bottle that was his Thriller album, which like by all means still made fantastic music during this period. His 90s records are still bangers to me. ⁓ Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Jesus: But they're not even in comparison to the Thriller album with Billie Jean and know, Smooth Criminal, like all that good stuff. But like if you're a fan of Michael Jackson, I would highly encourage you to go look up that album they did shortly after he passed away where all these producers that did modernize his sound finished that album ⁓ right after that tour was announced and everything and then he ended up passing away before it was finished. So if you go find that album on iTunes, it's worth a listen because I think like, Nolan: Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Jesus: I would love to have lived in a world where he did kind of just bring his voice into what modern production could have sounded like. And you do get to see that with those songs. ⁓ Timberland produces on it. I think there's a bunch of great music producers that took his music and just filled it out for him and all that kind of stuff. It's a great album if you've never listened to it. Nolan: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So we'll see where this one finishes out in its box office run, fantastic showing for the Michael film. I mean, most biopics don't even get remotely close to what it's currently doing ⁓ after its third week. And so fantastic stuff. And fingers crossed, I'm ready for this second installment to come out. ⁓ That'll do it for our news nuggets guys. told you we only had a couple things that I wanted to touch on box office wise because they were the two most prevalent things that we needed to talk about when it came to what's going on, what's been released recently. ⁓ We're gonna get into some trailers now. I want you guys to get ready for the rad. First one we got, Tony. Now this one doesn't seem like it's anything important just based off the thumbnail, but it's about the life of Anthony Bourdain who was kind of this journalist, food chef guy who traveled and did a lot of things in the culinary world, I'll put it that way. And I think it was someone who unfortunately succumbed to mental health and you know, we've harked on it in plenty of times that you know, mental health is very important, especially in young men who don't know how to express or feel that they have a safe space to express themselves. But we're gonna dive into it really quick because it does have this young actor ⁓ as well. I believe his name is Dominic Cessa ⁓ and Antonio Banderas is also in this. So I'm gonna get this. really quick. Jesus: I loved that Antonio Banderas was in this. I like that kind of role for him now. Like you sexy grizzled son of a bitch. You know what I mean? Like what a great like vibe it would be to have Antonio Banderas, you know? Nolan: Yeah, yeah, right? Really though. see okay let me get this going let me get that going You Yes, had anger issues, clearly. Jesus: A24, you see that, you know it's gonna be a banger. Nolan: Yeah. Tonio Banderas. every person ever. I'm not a cook, I can cook. They taste like the ocean, but I get it. It's for the film. Anyone who says they eat oysters for the taste, you know, let's have a talk, man. Let's have a talk. Jesus: Not a big oyster's guy. You're lying. You're lying. Check their basement right now. Nolan: Fantastic. He looks like a young Anthony Bourdain. I mean, I don't know. I to... Jesus: The trailer is actually just a really good trailer. Like it's just a well put together trailer. You know what saying? Just from an editing standpoint. Like it gets you into whatever this is supposed to be. So kudos to whoever the person is that did all that for, you know, this first little official trailer thing. They did their job extremely well. It was nice and tight. We understand what's happening. It's very cut and dry. They probably showed most of the movie in the trailer because it's a biopic, but hey, whatever. Nolan: It really is, yes. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Jesus: ⁓ but no, I thought it was just a really good trailer for, for this thing. How invested am I in seeing a biopic about Tony Anthony Bourdain? Nah. You know what mean? Definitely more of a couch watch. You know what mean? Nolan: Yeah, yeah, let's be clear. It's probably not gonna be a box office banger. It's gonna be something a little bit more niche. ⁓ Jesus: But could catch that kind of, like everyone's into the bear right now, you know, it could kind of catch that wave of that type of, you know, entertainment in the pit, you know. Nolan: Yeah. Yeah. I gotta assume the budget was not very high on this film, so I mean, it's got some room to make its money back. Yeah. Yeah. And 10 of it went to Antonio Banderas. Jesus: That had to be like 12 million, surely. nothing crazy. Actually, it's probably higher if they're doing like period piece. These budgets can surprise you when it's supposed to be like in the 80s or something, because you gotta do all the cars and the outfits and the design sets. So you could be looking at like a 75 million to 80 million dollar movie, easy. Nolan: Yeah. Mm-hmm. That's true. That is true. Yeah, but you know, 824, Anthony Bourdain biopic called Tony. I think it looks awesome. I'll probably give it a couch watch, but it definitely looks like something that's gonna make me wanna like start going to my kitchen and start cooking whatever I have in the fridge. So, you know. Jesus: Even better, I will just go on DoorDash and order something really expensive. Bang. Nolan: Mmm, you know, why but yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean, you're right. You're right. You're right. Jesus: You know? Like, can just order the lobster. We don't have to go and catch it and clean it and do all the thing. We have technology, you know. Nolan: It doesn't have to be. ⁓ But let me get this settled. But yeah, let us know down in the comments below what you guys thought about the trailer for Tony. Next one we got. is not moving ⁓ there we go boom motor city it's because we have our boy alan richston the yoked reacher himself anything he's in i'm going to give it a watch because he one is hilarious and i love him as an actor so let's ⁓ yeah surely of course we can Jesus: Definitely can't play Batman by the way. Surely not. Surely he couldn't pull off Bruce Wayne and the Batman. Nolan: He couldn't match the physicality either apparently. Anyways. Motor City. Jesus: Yeah, definitely could match the physicality or anything. Nolan: is Shailene Woodley, haven't seen her in a minute, great to see her on screen. Jesus: Shailene Woodley. I'm out of the woodwork. Nolan: Ben Foster. Love him too. Jesus: Yes. Nolan: There he is. Batman. Jesus: There he is. That's Reacher. Nolan: That's a cool shot though. Jesus: That's a very cool shot. Nolan: See, okay, so like my biggest question, ⁓ my biggest question with this film is they clearly have framed it as a, it looks like he was framed for something or someone ratted on him for something that he did. He went and did his time. He was being teased by whoever it was that ratted on him that he now has his girl. ⁓ Like how are we supposed to feel, like is Shailene Woodley, villain in this too because like she clearly is like I Mean it feels like Ben Foster was the one who framed him But it just seems like how are we supposed are we supposed to forgive her because she seems to be having the time of her life with Ben Foster's Character like is this gonna be kind of empty but at the end she's like ⁓ I loved you the whole time like no you didn't you're you're dancing in the club probably Yeah Jesus: I think old girl sent him to jail. I think we're supposed to be against Shailene Woodley. Like this is supposed to be like, I'm gonna get mines. Nah, nuke ⁓ all bro. Nuke ⁓ all. You were complicit, you knew what was going on. You didn't have to go skip on to him. You didn't have to do all that. Respectfully. If you really love me, so you go. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mm. If you really love, if you wanted to be Mrs. Wayne, you know what I mean? Jesus: That's what I'm saying, like you gone bro. I'm sorry Shailene Woodley, you gonna get the axe. You gonna get that shotty to the face bro. That's just how that's going down. Nolan: Okay. ⁓ clearly this is not going to be one that is a huge box office hit. This is an IFC movie, so definitely independent film in a sense, ⁓ which fits it. You know, I'm, this is going to be a couch watch. I'm not going to go out to the theaters to see this one, but I do like who's in the film. I do like a little action flick, especially with Alan Richardson. ⁓ I'm assuming you're also a couch watch, Jalen? Jesus: That's definitely a couch watch for me. I don't even- is this even going to- is this going to theaters? It said theaters at the end, right? Am I crazy? Okay, this is- yeah, so. Definitely, this is one that could have went on like, you know, Amazon, Paramount, you know? Because like, the- also in comparison, this trailer kinda sucked. Like, I- I- like, I saw the things in it, but like, d- right. I don't- Nolan: Yes, it did. Yeah, July 24th. Yeah, this ain't it, chief, you know? You know? Yeah. Yeah, it was just quick edit action boom, doosh, doosh, doosh. Jesus: Like, what's even happening? I don't know what's happening in the movie. There's just Alan Richardson with shotguns, and that's what it's supposed to sell me on. Which is like, fair enough, like kudos to you, but like, give me some context here! Like, give me some- give me some shit that's going on! Right! Can we just get the- just give me the why. We don't mean to feel like that might be spoiling it, but, you know, we can at least know why he went to jail. I think that's a bare minimum in a trailer, like, hey, this guy will go to jail and- Nolan: All sorts of guns. Yeah. Like, why did you go to jail? Why did you get released from jail? Like, what is the content? Yes. Jesus: Then he's on a quest for revenge. Okay, cool. Jump on. Nolan: This is also a period piece, clearly. It looks like the 70s, right? Jesus: Yeah, late 70s or early sorry early 70s ish somewhere in there cuz he's got the like faded glasses and yeah Sideburns are in there. We got bell bottoms going. Yeah for sure Nolan: Yeah. The little swoop, the little collared, open chest. Yeah, yeah. ⁓ But yeah, let us know down in the comments below what you guys think of Motor City. The next one, ooh, this one's the one that I wanted to really get your take on. I thought this trailer when it released, I was truly impressed with it. Yeah. Let me see. Jesus: Joe? I felt like you would love this one when I saw it. Nolan: Set. Boom. Bam. This is haunting. Like this was impressive stuff. This is a good put together trailer for those who are listening in. Like this is a good trailer. Jesus: Yes. Nolan: ⁓ yeah, clay face. The theater's October 23rd. ⁓ Jesus: Right around Halloween. What a great drop. Looks great. You know. Nolan: right? ⁓ In the world of the DCU, clearly a body horror film. ⁓ Diving into this looks good, right? Is it fair to say that James Gunn maybe you did okay with this one? Jesus: This looks good. Yes. The only way I'll be okay with it is if it's linked to Robert Pattinson's Batman. Nolan: I don't know if it is. I think this might be... Jesus: Exactly, and that's the problem, because he's too stupid to think about it. There you go. There you go! You thought he was gonna get away scott-free because it's a good trailer, didn't you? No! You idiot! Nolan: We're back, baby. You stoop! Also... Jesus: But seriously, this is like, this is that thing of like when we were thinking about like who's gonna really like fill out Robert Pattinson's like, rogues gallery in that universe that makes sense, like in a Matt Reeves universe, like the way this is shot and done totally looks good. Like that, that is a more approachable clay face than the blob monster that we remember from Batman the Animated Series. Like this, this is a version of clay face that you could say, While yes, it's on that superhero spectrum, like it would fit in the world with the Penguin and Robert Pattinson and all the other stuff they've got going on in that universe. And like that would be suitable for him to face off against. ⁓ But they, yeah, they're dropping the ball. It's not even gonna be... Nolan: Hmm. Well, back to the task at hand. Jesus: Like he just tried to really copy pasta the red font and the tonality of Penguin to bring into his own DCU. Like, bro, just saw it off and just give Matt Reeves some toys and just take the credit that you didn't work for. You take the easy wins. He just refuses to take the easy wins. But this trailer looks immaculate. Yes, it's an immaculate trailer. Nolan: ⁓ Well this will be a win in some sort, you know. This was a great trailer. ⁓ It's going to be interesting to see how they kind of tie this one in to the DCU or Batman's universe or whatever Batman it's going to be. know, Alan Richen. Hint, hint. ⁓ I this was really cool trailer. It really kind of teased where he was. He was like an actor, probably known for his looks and his ability on screen. Clearly he's going through some, some, some body dysmorphia for, for Cullen and anything. ⁓ but Jalen overall, did you enjoy this trailer? Jesus: Yes, I love the trailer. It's it's very clearly hitting you. I mean, it's it's Nolan's the audience. OK, guys, let's be real clear. OK, the horror, the horror people, the guys that love all the spooky gookies things or whatever like that's who they went for. October 23rd is a fantastic release date. It's going to make a ton of money. ⁓ And it's got a little bit of a time. If they're smart, they'll tease the new Batman that's supposed to be in the DCU. If they don't do it in this movie. Nolan: Let's be clear, I like horror. Mm-hmm. If they're smart. Jesus: then they're stupid. This is like the easiest layup ever to make your A, make people get more on track with DCU, and B, get people more invested in going to see this movie because they'll be like, hey, they teased the new Batman in Clayface. What? I'm gonna go watch Clayface. Okay, more money for you. You know what mean? So if they're smart about it, they could leave that in there and then word of mouth gets around and then they'll give it some legs and it'll make some real money. ⁓ Yeah, like that is definitely a route to go, for sure. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Absolutely. Everyone keep your eyes peeled. ⁓ October 23rd is when this will be releasing. This one's gonna be a little bit more horroristic or horror horrific. I don't know what the right word for is that, but you know, ⁓ definitely a lot of body horrors. Let's let's let's take a look. Foreshadowing, leaving the dishwasher open with a ton of sharp objects. Of course, of course. old boy from Wednesday, right? think. I don't know why you would open the door if you were panicking for what was outside, right? Like, that just seems like a clear... Jesus: Yeah. Seems like a foolish decision. And now, look at- now your carpet's ruined, so you gotta deal with that. Nolan: Now you go to dead ice. She got no fingers. Come on. Jesus: ⁓ my god. Nolan: And she got a head resting. Jesus: I don't know if that's where your head's supposed to go in the- headrest, Right. Nolan: on the head rest, you know. It's resting in your head. Jesus: Hello? Nolan: Paul Williams. Not anything, you know? the book of the dead she finds it and decides let me just read through it That was a cool cinematography shot right there. ⁓ all right, that's some hot wax. ⁓ See this is why I close the dishwasher. This is why you don't just leave it open. in theaters July 10th. ⁓ Interesting that this one is coming out for a summer blockbuster movie instead of ⁓ closer to Halloween. ⁓ But Jalen, thoughts? Obviously you are not the target demographic. I am the target demographic. ⁓ But what did you think? Obviously the Evil Dead ⁓ franchise ⁓ has a way about it with how it's perceived. Jesus: ⁓ right, that's right. That's right, you are correct. Well, ⁓ you know, ⁓ it's... This looks good. This is a good trailer. This movie looks excellent, if that is your... kinda thing. I will say, whoever the director is... knows how to do action, because those sequences in the trailer looked really good. From a choreography, like, they're very intense, like, very well done, so... Keep that guy around, you know? He might have to... Nolan: Hehehe Yes. Yes. Keep him hired, you know? Jesus: He- he- they- whoever it is, they need to- they need to keep an eye on that guy. He knows how to direct some action pretty well. So. But ⁓ but no, I liked the trailer a lot. ⁓ again, not my cup of tea, but damn, like that could- that could get me to go, maybe. You know, I would consider it. I would see- I would see about it. You know, now would I need to bring a priest with me? Yes, but- Nolan: But yeah. Definitely do it. You would probably need a safety blanket, like a comfort blankie, ⁓ something to just keep you safe. ⁓ But yeah, there's a reason that this film, this franchise is continuing to... Jesus: just to make sure. Safety blankie. Nolan: to make movies is because they have had a nice little resurgence since the days of Bruce Campbell's Evil Dead movies. They had a little bit of a rebooting that they tried in think 2013 or 2016. Didn't really pan out the way they thought it would. They continued forward, made a couple more films after that and it's been catching some steam. So let us know down in the comments below what you thought about this Evil Dead Burn trailer that is releasing in July. I lied guys. There's one more horror film that we're gonna review. I lied. ⁓ Resident Evil. This one is... This one? Yes. Jesus: Yeah question because this is your okay so what what what Resident Evil are we doing now because there's no there's no Alice and there's no like how does this work where are we at Nolan: No, so let's preface it. Let's preface it because that is a fair question. So Zach Craigor, who directed Weapons, he directed Barbarian, two fantastic indie horror films ⁓ that got a lot of critics' acclaim. He was penned to do this one and direct the new Resident Evil movie. From my understanding, said that this is going to be in the world of Resident Evil Raccoon City, which is the main city for the film. ⁓ But it is not going to be following any of the game characters. It was gonna happen Right, so I'm definitely intrigued but but he is not necessarily Jesus: Okay, that's cool, man. That's cool. They did that in the Halo show and I was like, that's, that's what's up. You know what mean? Okay. All right. Nolan: This person here, I think his name is Austin Abrams. He is not actually from the games. Are we gonna see people from the games? Maybe. Jesus: So they are kind of like winging in thing like the the what's the ⁓ umbrella thing? Of when it was like, those movies in Underworld were just back and forth for like the whole early 2000s. Like, who's got the best action female hero? Nolan: Hmm, yeah, yeah. ⁓ I'll bring... Yes, they were. They were trying to battle out who's got the most CGI. ⁓ I do want to bring it up though. I want to get your take though because the film is very divisive online because there are the true to heart Resident Evil game playing fans who are a little upset that this isn't going to be specifically tied to characters and or storylines from the games where Jesus: Mmm. Yeah... Nolan: he has the director has harked that he's going to keep this very loyal to game fans just with a little bit more of originality. ⁓ How do you feel about that? Because you know we we've talked about how game adaptations don't also don't always get the the best rap Jesus: see that. Nolan: Especially because sometimes people do it too devoted to the games and then it just doesn't work on screen Some people venture too far from the games and it doesn't work on screen. It seems like he has something He's a great director So this is a film that probably will do well on its own But people are asking why even put the Resident Evil name on it when you could just make it like a post-apocalyptic zombie movie Jesus: Right. I think that would be my argument as well. Cause like, I understand the director's logic, right? Like in his brain and what he's thinking, but like at that point, just put the characters they know in the movie, bro. Right? Like you're doing all this work to bring in like the first person shots or like this and that, and then this element and that element. Just dude, just fucking put the characters they know already in the movie. Nolan: Okay. Mm-hmm. Yeah, yeah. You know, and you know, we could be there, maybe he'll run into a Leon Kennedy or an Alice or Jill Valentine. You know, we don't know. We don't know. Yeah. Jesus: Right! But like, just tell us so we're excited, you know? Couldn't we just... You know? Like, I feel like it's a layup if you just give the fans the thing they want and the thing they're excited about and the characters they love. You know? Nolan: Yeah, that's fair. That is fair. I will definitely be seeing this movie, but thoughts on the trailer itself, Jalen? Jesus: ⁓ spectacular trailer. Very spooky, very, you know, it gets you in the world of Resident Evil, makes you understand what's going on, at least. There's a very clear storyline of... in this new indie project, if you will, this random character is gonna go into this land of horrors and abandon town and figure out that that's probably where the Umbrella Academy is, or the company thing. I don't fucking know, yeah, you know what saying? Nolan: Abandon time. Umbrella Academy. No, I know what you Jesus: And that's what's going on. yeah, wouldn't it be cool to do, like, a trilogy with Leon instead? Because we did a whole thing with Alice last time, right? Like, couldn't we do... that? Nolan: It would. would. You know, if this maybe this is a jumpstart to a franchise where maybe each film will kind of dive into a new character that he just wanted to kind of get the ball rolling. Who knows? Who knows? I was like you didn't have to add that in in the fit and like in the theater it probably will it'll hit but ⁓ Jalen your thoughts this will be a Christopher Nolan film for IMAX It will be under three hours from what I've read in reports, but it's a star-studded cast Jesus: Right. think we keep the tone of what it was and just let it other. Right. Nolan: This is a much more fleshed out trailer. What did you think? Jesus: I love the trailer, I love the idea of this film. This cast is unbelievable. I mean, even the smallest characters are played by Academy caliber actors. mean, Charlize Theron is just casually a smaller role. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, Elliot Page is in there now, which is wonderful. Nolan: Mm-hmm. at page is in there. Lupita Nwongo wasn't really in the trailer but she's also in there. Jesus: She's also in it. Like this cast list is simply outrageous. And that had to have eaten just like 94 % of the budget, I would guarantee you. But other than that, I mean, the movie is gonna be good. It's just a good adventure film. Good, you know, story plot. If you just like kind of those Greek god wartime movies, you know, if you liked, you know, Achilles or like the story of Troy, you know what mean? I feel like this is gonna hit for you. Nolan: Mm-hmm. This is it. ⁓ from also I will say there is some there is some division online because Elliot Page is apparently playing Achilles. Jesus: Spartacus, that kind of thing. So ⁓ Yeah, no this show was What happens when you let the fans? Nolan: There is going to be a season two everyone, so you have time to get this one under your belt. Jesus: into the writing room and let them contribute in meaningful capacities. That's what Sam Witwer is, that's what Dave Filoni is. ⁓ And I've been pretty critical on Dave Filoni on how he's treated the live action properties as of late and all those kinds of things. think some of us other Star Wars fans have also felt the same way. ⁓ But ⁓ at the end of the day, ⁓ this show is exactly what it was supposed to do. It gave us a really good look into Maul in between that period. I think this is right after Rebels and not too early before the Han Solo movie where he's literally running Crimson Dawn. So it's like right in that kind of time period where he's rediscovering himself. He doesn't know who he is as a person still. He's still dealing with a lot of stuff that happened to him prior in Rebels and in the Clone Wars stuff. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: ⁓ or sorry, not rebels, in the Clone Wars. ⁓ So this is a Maul that's very, you know, emotionally, I don't wanna say like unstable, but he's definitely like got, he's got a lot more range than most people because he was under the impression that he was the next guy to go lead the Empire with Sidious. He was trained to go do all the things that Sidious wanted him to do and just kill people over and over and over again. And then that's immediately stripped away whenever Dooku arrives. Nolan: Oop. Jesus: that stuff and Anakin shows up. So this Maul is very fun to watch. Sam Witwer is simply amazing. I mean, he is Darth Maul forever. it's one of those generational castings. Like Ray Park, I'm not gonna lie, if Sam Witwer just gets in shape again and just decides to go be Darth Maul and paint his face and learn some choreo, you're kinda cooked bud, I'm sorry. I know you gave us some amazing stuff in the Phantom Menace, but dude, I could... Nolan: Mm-hmm. Sorry Ray Park, you've been replaced. Jesus: Take a hike, get out. Because the way he carries the character is just so impactful. to get through the series. ⁓ There are several theories of mine that I think semi got confirmed. I did have one question canon wise and that's in the finale so I won't ruin it for everybody. But it is a long time rumored question in the Star Wars community about this character and another character. But you do get to see that pay off in the series. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: There's also payoff to the origins and stuff. We do get to look at his relationship with Sidious. We do get to look at his relationship and how he's dealt with the death of Sage Vengeus or whatever the hell that his brother's name was. ⁓ Savajo Press, excuse me. And then his dealings with the Nightsisters and you still see the remnants of him having to co and deal with the mental ⁓ repairing that had to happen for him to be alive in this current state that we know him in now. Nolan: trauma. Jesus: Yeah, because he was cut in half and if you've seen Clone Wars, he's literally this crazy mutant gross spider thing in a cave for years after the Phantom Menace. And until his brother finds him and takes him to his mother, who is a knight sister on Dathomir, ⁓ he doesn't get repaired with any of that stuff until then. ⁓ Yeah, it's just a really good show. The characters are all fascinating. I think the Lawsons are gonna hit home for a lot of people. It's kind of that entry character that keeps the audience that maybe hasn't seen Star Wars kind of grounded into what's happening. ⁓ That set of characters is amazing. We do get some Jedi in there. That is not a light spoiler. It's a mall show. Obviously, it's post Order 66. It's bound to happen. So ⁓ the two that are in there are very cool. ⁓ Devon is one of the characters that I think people are gonna Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: really really loved because she goes through a lot of different hoops and things and emotions and character decisions and all that kind of stuff. ⁓ And this is probably the best animated series they've made. ⁓ I will say that. It's definitely in my top two next to Clone Wars. ⁓ if you're also like an art person, this is visually I think the best animation Lucasfilm has ever done. I don't know how they pulled it off. I don't know what they've done, but like Bad Batch was like a level up from Nolan: ⁓ right on. ⁓ Jesus: from all that stuff and then they somehow found like another tier that this looks, I would argue, better than Bad Batch and Bad Batch is one of the best looking animations they've done in a long time. So yeah, this show is just phenomenal. If you're a Star Wars fan, obviously go watch it. If you're a mall fan, how have you not watched it? You have to have watched it already, clearly. But no, it's phenomenal. It's just a great show. So you're in for a treat. Season two got greenlit I think after like the third episode dropped because everyone just loved it so much. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: ⁓ The fans ate it up. But Dave Filoni and Sam Witt were cooked. ⁓ He was executive. I think he helped produce and did some writing, obviously, because this is kind of his character, his baby, with Dave Filoni and the other writers that were in this room. So yeah, they did a really good job. Well done. Well done, sis. Nolan: Right on. Once things kind of settle down, I'll definitely dive into it because one, Maul is one of those characters that you just kind of want to watch all the time. And then I'm a big fan of Sam Witworth. Whew. Hell yeah, brother. Amen. Good lord. FLOX, dude! Yeah, bro, it got real right there. I was like, ⁓ and she didn't, and now it's like, right? Nolan: and then he went full on kingpin ⁓ a lot of things a lot of things ⁓ we'll kind of We'll say some things that I did not like with how the finale- and we're gonna go spoiler because it- the sh- No, no, no, no, that's- that's that's a tall order. ⁓ one, things I did not like. I didn't like Karen still. I don't know what it is. Karen just seemed kind of like an impulsive little brat. She- Jesus: But you want to go like episode by episode and okay. Okay. All right. Let's start there. Yeah. Heron kinda sucks, dude. Nolan: she seemed like Mrs Punisher and I didn't like it. And I was like, well, you're with probably the most patient vigilante there is because yeah, Catholic, he's logical. He's a lawyer. mean, ⁓ it just didn't fit for me. ⁓ I wanted a little bit more from Matthew Lillard's character because I thought he was a great dynamic piece. feel like he Jesus: Hmm. He's a Catholic, so that attracts. Nolan: He was just kind of plopped in there in pieces. Maybe he'll have a bigger role in season two. Yeah, yeah. And I didn't like, and this is more into the finale. I didn't like the white tiger niece. It just all of a sudden she just. Jesus: You might. I'm just gonna shut my door real quick. Yes! ⁓ wait, no! Wait, what? ⁓ that's on your dislikes? Okay. Okay. Nolan: I mean, I didn't like how they set it up. Like they made it clear in the earlier episodes that she found the stuff. But like, it just in the finale, it was just like, don't worry, I know what I'm doing. And she just comes out of nowhere and starts rabidly tearing guys apart. Like it just, didn't sit well with me. was like, I needed to see, I just needed to see like a precursor. I needed to see a precursor to get her there. You know what I mean? There needs to be. Jesus: Right. We are in disagreement because I audibly screamed. ⁓ there's no precursor. It's superhero logic. It's superhero logic. I found the medallion and now I know how to do stuff. That's the logic. Nolan: There needs to- SHUT YOUR FACE! ⁓ I'm not saying the fight sequence wasn't cool, I just thought for me, story-wise, I needed just a little bit to kinda... a stepping stone, just to know, okay? Jesus: Did your nerd juices not start bubbling and getting ready to flow when you saw that it was gonna be another hallway? Nolan: It did, but it's not the nerd juice, but the know, the critic in me was just like, ⁓ I thought it was pretty dope the way the courtroom scene went. I wish we had more courtroom scenes this whole season because I don't know what it is. Everyone there's just a there's just a subconscious feeling in every person who watches Law and Order that you just love those courtrooms where it's just like this man did and it's just Jesus: Thank you. Thank you. Nolan: It just gets your blood boiling in the right ways. ⁓ Objection sustained! I loved that scene. I thought it was a ballsy reveal of him saying who he was to the world. ⁓ Kingpin. Jesus: exception Better than Robert Downey or no? It's been a hot debate. Mmm. Nolan: Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. You know. I'll say no. I'll say no, because I feel like the Iron Man one, it's set up perfectly at the end of the movie where you didn't get to see the following things and that you dive into movie two with him just being like, this one, it was like, I'm daredevil quick, let me save this courtroom, but you can arrest me right after it just didn't. I was like, that's the reason why I'm kind of like in a disagreement with it being better. But I did like the reveal. ⁓ Jesus: Okay, okay. I say yes. I personally thought it was better because the stakes involved with him revealing that in Daredevil versus when Tony just decides to do it and Iron Man felt very just like, it's an emotional and reactive thing and it's an ego thing versus like... Nolan: I'll you that. No, that's a great point. That's a great point. In order to... It was the... He put the people before himself. I dig that. You know what? I'll give that... Exactly. The prodigal son. ⁓ I wanted to ask also, because I wasn't sure if this is like a specific ⁓ source material thing. Jessica Jones. Is it... Jesus: Like, it was more Catholic and sacrificial or whatever you want to call it with the religion aspect to Matt's character. Yeah, that's why I think it's better than the Iron Man reveal. Mm-hmm. Yes. Nolan: normal that her powers are like kind of iffy Jesus: You didn't like how they nerfed her, did you? I didn't either. I didn't think that was a ⁓ thing. I don't remember it ever being a thing, to be honest with you. I don't know if that's like a superhero thing ever. Like superheroes have kids and it's never like affected their powers. I think they just found that as a narrative way to kind of nerf her so she's not like just solving a writing issue that would happen with all the things that are gonna happen. Cause if she's just normal Jessica Jones, she's kind of OP for everything that she's gonna run into with Matt in this current structure. So it's like... Nolan: Well, I was curious- Was that a- Was that a thing? here. Jesus: Like, well, why would we even need Daredevil when she can just be basically half a Supergirl and run through anything and everything? So I think that that was more of a writing choice. Is it the best solution you could have done to nerf her or like make it less about Jessica? No, I think it's one of those things where like, choose your battles, bro. Like the fans want her to come back, let her be full power, let her be OP, who cares? ⁓ And then some people will argue, well, it's a Daredevil show, blah, blah, but like. Nolan: Gotcha. Jesus: My thing has always been when you're doing cameos of other characters, if you're nerfing them to service the main character of the show that they're cameo in, then don't bring them in. You know what saying? Nolan: Maybe, you know, I'm sure they're gonna put it up to like in season three. It was just maybe like a like a mental block. Yeah, maybe it was just a mental block. She was missing Mike Holter's Luke Cage and it just kind of like Jesus: Well, very clearly the defenders are returning and iron fit like. Finn Wolfheart is in training, so they're gonna redo Iron Fist and redeem that character, like it's all happening. Like it's, you know what mean, like it's all, that was very clearly laid out in the finale, so. ⁓ Nolan: Okay Yeah, for those who are unaware, they officially announced it that they are returning so the defenders are back. They are back guys. ⁓ But yeah, also I would say the finale, I think it could have been done in two episodes. I think they should have split into two. I think the first one should have been kind of that breakdown in the courtroom, the reveal. Jesus: The defenders will be back, yes. Hmm. Nolan: and then them barricading themselves in the courtroom and then you could flush out the riots and the mobs in the final episode leading into that final showdown. It felt a little rushed. know Keoni talked about it in the group chat. ⁓ I liked the pacing, but I do feel like they tried to squeeze a lot into this final episode that I almost forgot the courtroom scene happened because then we got these crazy riots which were very... ⁓ allegorical if we're you know for calling this yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah but it was kind of it was a cool thing but it just didn't it just seemed a little wonky to me to squeeze it all in but okay let me hear it let me hear it Jesus: Very on the nose with what they were recreating, but for the other side of the equation, for actual justice, yes. That's so crazy, because I violently disagree. So here, so like just in total, this was everything we thought season two was going to be because the show renders and all that stuff. It was so much more concise. The narrative was very much, you know, it wasn't duct taped together. was very clear where we were going and what was happening and all that kind of stuff. from that standpoint, this is miles and eons above season one. And I still love season one. Nolan: Yes, yes. clear. Jesus: which most people do not, that it's very divisive. But I personally loved season one ⁓ and all that kind of stuff. So I think this is a big step up. Performances were amazing all the way through and all that kind of stuff. So it's overall, for me, I loved the second season of Daredevil season of Born Again. So just to start there, those are, you know, all the good things. Yes, loved it. Nolan: Mm-hmm. I liked season one too. Yeah, it was great. Jesus: But to go into my own nitpicks, I will agree that I was not a fan of Karen Page. I felt like if she's gonna do all this stuff, why isn't this just Frank Castle? ⁓ That's exactly- you nailed it right on the head. I was like, she's so erratic and violent and all these things all of a sudden. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Also, you know, really quick, while we're on the topic of this, are you telling me, not that I didn't appreciate it, are you telling me an ATVF trained, trained officer gets the, Karen gets the drop on you and is able to dis disarm you and knock you out? Jesus: Right. Why is that scene there? You could just cut the scene! It doesn't need to happen! Nolan: Like, yeah, like, let's be clear. Karen is not that great at fighting. But continue, continue, sorry, continue. Jesus: that was crazy, bro was like, ⁓ hell no, that's cringe as fuck, bro. ⁓ But yeah, so I was also not the biggest fan of Karen throughout most of the season. ⁓ I just felt like it's one of those things we've beaten the dead horse with it already. I think having Matt get back to Elektra is really my end goal. ⁓ And Elodie Young has been doing a lot of fitness training for something on her Instagram. I don't know what that could be. Nolan: Probably because she's gonna show up in Spider-Man first. I'm sk- Jesus: in New York. Maybe I will get to that in a fucking moment because like I'd man anyway ⁓ Yeah, didn't really like that part ⁓ also here's here's where there I think they're listening to the wrong section of people because in my in my honesty full hearts of hearts I've said a hundred times in the show the thing the Netflix show fundamentally did not understand about Daredevil is that he's not Batman He is he is Matt Murdock and he is Daredevil Matt Murdock is a lawyer. Like, the start of anything that he does as Daredevil starts in the courtroom. That's how it always has been. And so I felt like in season one, they got that part so correct. We saw him as Matt Murdock, the lawyer in a lot of that show, and I wanted more of that in season two, but instead we went back to the Netflix style where he's just basically Batman. And I'm like, this is not. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Jesus: how Matt Murdock operates. Like his identity is not Daredevil. He doesn't have the whole Bruce Wayne is the Mask thing. That's not who his character is. He loves the law. He loves working for the justice system. He believes in democracy and all these things that hold our country up by itself. It's one of those things that's core to Matt Murdock as a character. And so I feel like... Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jesus: as much as like I loved seeing him finally have an official, like he's got the double D's on the chest now and he looks like he's doing the black suit thing. It was so cool. At the end of the day, I'm sitting there like, I still want more Matt Murdock in the courtroom because the finale was perfect. was like he defeated Wilson Fisk in the most Matt Murdock way possible, which was getting them in the courtroom, getting them down, getting the evidence in there. Nolan: Talking. Jesus: And I thought that was just a masterfully done scene. Right. I thought that scene was masterfully done. I loved it. I loved it. I loved it. I loved it more than the action scenes we got in the finale ⁓ and all that kind of stuff. that's I mean, I I also loved the action scenes. I thought the finale was amazing. There's a few nitpicks I have, but I think all the build up to it. And now we can get to kind of where I'm thinking this is going to go right ⁓ in the finale specifically, since we're spoiling everything. Nolan: Do really want to do this, Mr. Murdock? Mm-hmm. Jesus: I think personally the hallway scene is an immaculate action piece. I love that White Tiger gets in there. Nolan: ⁓ yes, where it's like they're or I was gonna say I liked what I loved about the the the hallway scene is that they made it very cinematic in the sense where they are fighting to get to each other like it was like this side is doing this this side is doing this I loved that parallel that they did for that Jesus: Yes, you're so cool. It was so cool and they got like the lighting was right and like the sound design sounded like I was in a theater with my little earphones and stuff like how the punches were landing. was like, damn bro, we're out here. Nolan: Mm-hmm. Also, in a sense, it was really campy, but I loved it where Vincent D'Onofrio opens the courtroom door, BOOM! And just punches the guy into the wall. I was like that, that was dope. That was dope. Jesus: Correct. I was like, ⁓ shit. So we saw full power Kingpin, we saw full power Jessica Jones, we did get to see White Tiger, which again, I don't have a problem with. I was hyped as shit when she came in there and started like throwing bodies around. I was like, okay, let's go. ⁓ And all that kind of stuff. And I think the way that it went down, the way it ended is exactly how it should have ended. And also, confirming without a shadow of a doubt that this man is in brand new day. There is no fucking way that Spider-Man is just coincidentally gonna fight the hand in a prison without running into Daredevil. There's no way. 100 % confirmed. 100 % confirmed. If I'm wrong, I don't know what I'll do, but... Nolan: The timeline is too perfect, ladies and gentlemen. Like, Daredevil goes to jail. Jesus: that we're just coincidentally gonna have a movie where the hand daredevil villain is involved and Peter's in a prison which we can clearly see in the trailer they didn't CGI any of that and all of a sudden you know he's not in the movie come on Charlie I may have bought it you know before this finale I may have bought it before this finale Nolan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. And it kinda makes sense because the hand is gonna wanna get to Matt Murdock because now they are clear in a way, know that he is Daredevil, so why wouldn't you, if you're locked in a cage, why wouldn't you go visit the cage, right? Jesus: Right? Right? Right? Yeah. And like, I know that they did the memory wipe thing, but like, he remembers Matt Murdock. He remembers who that guy is. Hello? Hello? Hello? What's going on? Also, I'm not gonna lie, like when the riot stuff kept like bubbling over in the streets and like everything's filling, I'm sitting there just like. Nolan: Yeah? Yeah? Hello? Hello? Objection. Jesus: So does Peter just not give a shit about Hell's Kitchen? Like does this not even pop up on his radar? Cause like some shit is going down in New York and like where is Spider-Man? You know what I mean? I do wonder how much crossover they'll do because like I feel like it should be on a newsreel or something in brand new day. Like they should at least acknowledge like it's happening and maybe Peter has something going on. You know what I mean? Nolan: Clearly not. Clearly not. He's studying for his finals. Let's- Come on. Mm-hmm. Jesus: But that's my end theory thing or whatever about all that. Nolan: And let's also talk about it, Charlie Cox has adamantly said he is not in Spider-Man Brand New Day. I don't believe you for a second because of how that finale ended. And that was theorized for a while with people online and of course, you know, take that with a grain of salt. But the finale was the finale and that's where he's ended up. Nolan: Yep. Jesus: Matt, you're- it's a hard sell, my guy. Mr. Murdock, Mr. Guy. It's a hard sell because that last shot in Brand New Day was very much no way homie. You know what mean? Seems like they're hiding, cutting somebody out there. It's probably you. It's probably you. Okay? It's probably you. Nolan: Ipso facto. No way, homie. Why they decided to it again? I don't know. Because you know that the keyboard warrior is gonna be like, there was someone there. Jesus: because it creates buzz and excitement and I love that choice. Exactly, that's exactly why they did it. It's brilliant marketing on Sony and Marvel's part. I think they should do it in every fucking trailer. I don't care, I love it. I was a nerd, you just get to be having fun and coming up with theories the whole time. ⁓ But yeah, again, absolutely fantastic follow-up season two, season one. I think it fixed all those mistakes that season one had and added to some of the things. Nolan: true true you Jesus: Some of the characters I feel like were not as developed as I would have liked. uh, what was it? I mean, Kingpin Jr. was basically a throwaway character by the end of the season, which was kind of a shame because I was really, like I was really kind of getting into like what he was doing there. Yeah. I liked, I liked how his, how Daniel was developing there and what he was doing. Um, and also like, Bibi is kind of a bitch, bro. Like she literally just got this man killed for like no reason. Nolan: ⁓ Michael Gandolfini. Shout out to I liked his character. Yeah, yeah. All because you're more important? It was his birthday for god's sake! Jesus: Like, what an asshole. And now we're supposed to, like, celebrate her character? Right? I guess? I mean, god damn, man, like... Come on! Nolan: Also, Dr. Glenn, what the fuck is wrong with you? Jesus: Dr. Glenn, the lady Muse. I was hoping that wasn't how we were gonna bring the Muse character back, but it makes sense and it's in... It's definitely a thing that's happened in comics, so mean, it's something they can pull in and do, but I was kind of hoping they wouldn't go that route, but they are, so here we are. But at the end of the day, I'm not gonna lie, I like it, because she... That actress can do crazy, because she got them eyes on her, and I mean, like... Nolan: Yeah. Yeah, she has the like, I know I'm wrong, but I'm gonna do it anyway. She has no regrets. Like when she was beating up Karen, I was kinda on her side. I was like, you know what? You should be smacking Karen. ⁓ yeah. Jesus: Like she... she be lookin' crazy, bro. Respectfully. When she just straight up throat punched that other lawyer, bro, I was like, ⁓ my days. That's the muse. We're getting active. My question is, how quickly is she going to be able to like throw hands? You know what I mean? Because like the other muse, for whatever reason, was like actually going going for blows with with like Matt Murdock randomly, which is weird to me. So like, is that like if you put the mask on and you're full crazy mode, do you just get like, you know? Nolan: Yeah. ⁓ Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Soldier Boy, kind of in this weird kind of emotional phase of his life where he kind of loves his son now. I don't... It was weird, but he's still Soldier Boy. ⁓ As you can see... Jesus: ⁓ my god, I did see episode six. What an episode. What an episode. bombsight. Very cool guy. Yeah It was very weird. Also, this episode really made me like, like I'm so ready for the Soldier Boy show with Jason, with Tencent and Ackles. Like I'm, like I'm so ready, bro. Nolan: ⁓ yeah, ⁓ yeah. Especially, especially I need to know who ⁓ who Geisha was when she was younger. We're going to see obviously bombsites going to be in this in that season. ⁓ They're going to get Stormfront back and ⁓ the other blonde actresses name is either way. ⁓ As you can see, the virus is no longer on the table. Jesus: Yeah. Nolan: V1 has now been injected into Homelander's blood. you know, this episode built up where they're both in a race to try to get to the V1, which bombsight had. They're figuring out who they can kidnap and who they can, you know, figure out. is somehow still jumping back. She's a triple agent at this point, quadruple agent going back and forth because she's just that intellectual. And then you get to it. Jesus: Yeah, that's... cooked. Yeah, bro, unreal. Nolan: Soldier Boy of course takes away bombsite's powers, the V1, gives it to Homelander, Homelander injects it into his bloodstream, and as you can see in this thumbnail, is now immortal? ⁓ But let's also be very clear about what they've just set up. Soldier Boy can take away the powers of Sun One with V1 in their blood. Jesus: The more... Correct. Nolan: Now that the virus is off the table, arrows are now pointing to one of two things. One, Soldier Boy in a daring save in the last episode takes away Homelander's powers and they kill him. Or they make him just live as a human, which he probably would resent even more because he sees himself as a god. ⁓ Or they'll finally bring Marie into the freaking season when they just… like what? You just did a whole season of Gen V positioning her to be OP to kill Homelander and it's been six episodes. I haven't seen one fucking Gen V person ever. Let me know when she's coming in. We have two episodes left and we haven't seen one trace of her. It doesn't make sense. I don't think she's going to be the killing blow because it would be kind of... ⁓ It'd be kind of plot armor for them to just kind of drop her in the last two episodes or last episode and then all of a sudden she's just the one that can kill a Homelander in a swoop. It would be so random and unearned, you know what mean? But Jaylen, what did you think of this episode? What do you think is gonna happen in seven and eight? Jesus: It'd be so random. Just so random. Yes. Here's where I'm at with the boys right now. feels like... It kind of feels like we're losing the plot a little bit on what the main objective is, because the main characters that we've watched for last five years, right? ⁓ It feels like they're just kind of being shoved aside in some of these episodes and some of these plot lines for the sake of whatever. ⁓ And we're spending so much time with Homelander ⁓ and Soldier Boy and all these other characters that I like... You know, Mother's Milk is going through, think, biggest dynamic change in his character that we've ever seen. We're barely seeing right. And it's like, what the hell is going on? So ⁓ so, yeah, I just I feel like we're like it feels like they're just trying to get us ready for the Soldier Boy solo show because he's getting I mean, no offense to Jetson Ackles, like good for you, bro. But like, this is not your schtick. Like, this is not the show that like you made. ⁓ Nolan: Yeah, he used to be OCD and now he's just, now he's drinking out of a toilet, you know what mean? Jesus: But like kudos to him, he's doing a great job and I love it. ⁓ but for me as a fan of the boys, what we've been growing up watching the last five years, it just feels like my main character's like, want some more love. Like I wanna get, you know, where's, like any more Huey, any more Starlight, any more this and that and Butcher and like those dynamics, like the things that made the boys the boys. Like I needed, I need more of that in their final season on the air. It just feels like I'm not getting a ton of that. And this episode kind of just magnified most of it because now, like you said, they're basically just showing, setting up a showdown between Soldier, and Homelander, like that's gonna be the finale. It's not gonna, like Butcher can't do anything, it doesn't matter to him. Huey can't do anything, because he doesn't have power. Starlight doesn't have any, can't do anything, because she's too weak with her powers, and neither can, you know, Frenchie and Kimiko, so it just feels like they've kind of lost the plot of where The Boys was so successful in... No, it just doesn't feel like it's about The Boys, and it's weird that Gen V is now canceled, because it felt like maybe that... Nolan: Mm-hmm. It doesn't feel like it's about the boys anymore. You know what mean? Jesus: route of like what these other characters was going really well I felt like in my opinion and now that's canceled for some reason. ⁓ Yeah, it just feels like we're going down a really weird path even though like they're definitely trying to wrap up storylines as cleanly as they can it seems like. ⁓ Yeah, I'm not saying it's my favorite season by all means but for a series finale season right like the final season Nolan: I'm enjoying the season. I'm not going to say that. Yeah, like it's. Jesus: of a show you want to walk away from every episode being, you know, super hyped and I've walked away from, I think majority of them just kind of being like, yeah, all right, good episode. Instead of being like, damn, like what, what, what, whoa, you know what mean? Like I wanted that, I wanted to be visceral, right? Like I want to be invested. You know, that kind of stuff. So that's at least where I'm at with it. It was still a good episode for me, I think. I think like seeing the Elle be taken when Homelander just, you know, when she has that, she didn't. Nolan: Whoa! Jesus: account for him randomly having more empathy for loving somebody else in comparison to hating Homelander. I think that was a good plot choice, you know. Unless maybe she did know she's a liar, you know. That could happen with Sage. Nolan: she knew. But yeah. We'll find out next episode. Also shout out to episode five where there was the reunion of the Supernatural trio plus Seth Rogen and it was like that was that was dope. I really thought that was really fun. Jesus: Also that! What a wonderful time! Come on! back on screen together. know everybody loved that episode for that little scene alone, for sure. Yeah. Nolan: ⁓ yeah, ⁓ yeah. It was hilarious. But yeah, you know, we'll see where episode 7 takes us. I thought that this was really an interesting plot twist. I do agree though, it did seem like the season has been losing its steam in certain parts where it kind of loses the plot. Hopefully the last two seasons finish, or episodes finish strong for the series finale and we get the boys being the boys again because I think there's going to be the, you know, the trailer did that kind of whole one last ride for the boys, like that's going to be in one of these two episodes. So it's going to be more centralized to them, but nonetheless, fantastic episode. ⁓ Jalen, I think that'll do it. We done did the dang thing. Jesus: Alright, rock and roll.
