- 0:01Exodus chapter 4, let us pray. King Jesus High, lifted up above
- 0:10every other entity, above all principalities.
- 0:13God, you are moving and orchestrating everything exactly
- 0:17according to your plan. God, we get out of our own
- 0:20intellect. We get out of our own
- 0:21understanding. God, we worship you in spirit
- 0:24and truth today. Help us, Lord, to know that
- 0:27you're fighting our battles. God that you are, you are
- 0:30pulling and pushing us into greater measures of who you are.
- 0:34God, be here with us. God, in every single thing that
- 0:38we do, All of our thoughts, Lord, all of our emotions, God,
- 0:41all of our feelings. Father, I pray that you'll put
- 0:44them at rest. Lord, help us to take a hold of
- 0:48the peace that you have for us that surpasses all
- 0:51understanding. God help us to experience the
- 0:55joy inexpressible. God, help us to know, Lord, that
- 0:58you're here in the room, that you are well pleased with this
- 1:02Father. We only want you.
- 1:03We only want more of you. God, teach us your eternal past.
- 1:07Help us to live on purpose. God, help us to live sold out
- 1:11lives unto you, Yahweh everlasting.
- 1:14I decrease as you increase. It's all about you, King Jesus,
- 1:18teach us your ways. Show us the past.
- 1:20Light them up. Father God, we pray for the
- 1:24peace of Jerusalem today. God, we thank you that you're
- 1:29the same God yesterday, today, and forever and ever.
- 1:35We love you, King Jesus, saying your holy and precious and
- 1:41powerful name that I pray, Amen. Well, let's start in verse one.
- 1:50And Moses answered and said, but behold, they will not believe me
- 1:55or listen to my voice, for they will say, the Lord has not
- 1:59appeared to you. So here Moses is objecting.
- 2:03He is saying that the people will not believe him, that God
- 2:07had sent him. He'd already asked when I go,
- 2:10who should I tell him sent me? And now he's saying that when I
- 2:13go, they will not listen to me. It is perhaps as if Moses was
- 2:18just trying to make a bunch of excuses.
- 2:21Verse 2 And the Lord said to him, What is it in your hand?
- 2:27And he said, a rod. 3 And he said, cast it on the ground, and
- 2:31he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent, and Moses fled
- 2:36from before it. So God says, what is that that
- 2:39you have in your hand? He says, I have my staff.
- 2:41He says, throw your staff on the ground.
- 2:43And it became a snake, and it scared Moses, and he fled away
- 2:48from the snake that was on the ground that used to be his
- 2:51staff. Four.
- 2:56And the Lord said to Moses, put forth your hand and take it by
- 3:00the tail. And he put forth his hand, and
- 3:02he caught it, and it became a rod in his hand.
- 3:05So God gave him a miraculous sign that he could turn his
- 3:09staff into a snake. And he says, pick it up.
- 3:12And as soon as he touched it, it turned back into his staff.
- 3:18That they may believe that the Lord God of their fathers, the
- 3:21God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob has
- 3:25appeared to you. He is the only one true living
- 3:28God. And every other God is a idol
- 3:31who cannot see, who cannot hear. It's far be it from us to
- 3:36worship all of these idols that our hearts perpetually pump out.
- 3:41Friends, we've got to take our eyes off of.
- 3:44Mammon, we've got to take our eyes off of self, we've got to
- 3:48take our eyes off of vanity, We need to take our eyes off of all
- 3:52the riches and the promises of this life, and turn them towards
- 3:56the God of Israel. 6 And the Lord said furthermore unto him,
- 4:01Put now your hand into your bosom, And he put his hand into
- 4:05his bosom, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was
- 4:08leprous as snow. So here you can see that God
- 4:12says, Put your hand inside of your coat.
- 4:14And when he did, he pulled it back out and it was a leprous
- 4:19hand diseased 7 And he said, put your hand into your bosom again.
- 4:24And he put his hand into his bosom again and plucked it out
- 4:28of his bosom. And behold, it was turned again
- 4:31as his other flesh. So you can see here that God has
- 4:34given him two miraculous signs that he can throw his staff on
- 4:38the ground and it'll be turned into a snake.
- 4:41And when he picks it up, it's turned back into a staff.
- 4:44When he puts his hand into his coat and he pulls it out, it's
- 4:47leprous. But when he sticks it back in
- 4:49and pulls it out, it's made clean again.
- 4:54A and it shall come to pass. If they will not believe you,
- 4:57neither listen to the voice of the first sign, then they will
- 5:01believe the voice of the latter sign.
- 5:03So God saying, I've given you two different things to show
- 5:07them that I am with you, and that I am actually speaking
- 5:10through you. 9 And it shall come to pass if they will not believe
- 5:15also these two sons, neither listen to your voice, that you
- 5:19shall take of the water of the river and pour it upon the dry
- 5:23land, And the water which you take out of the river shall
- 5:27become blood upon the dry land. So here are a bunch of little
- 5:31precursors of the plagues that are coming upon Egypt, friends.
- 5:35And God has unlimited power. He can literally do anything
- 5:40that he wants friends, but if he leaves you in that desperate
- 5:45place, just know that it is for a purpose and it is going to
- 5:48bring him an immense amount of glory.
- 5:51When you pray the pain off the walls and nothing happens, it
- 5:54does not take anything away from a holy God who can literally do
- 5:59anything. These things are not just for
- 6:01previous times friends. They for.
- 6:04They are for our time, for today, friends, they are still
- 6:08available this very day. It is US who have hardened our
- 6:12hearts. It is US who have seared our
- 6:14consciences. We refuse to see the miraculous
- 6:17happening all around us today. 10 And Moses said unto the Lord,
- 6:24O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, neither
- 6:30since nor since you have spoken unto your servant.
- 6:35But I'm slow of speech and slow of tongue.
- 6:38So here Moses is objecting a second time.
- 6:42He's saying that he is lacking eloquence, which probably was
- 6:47not an accurate statement. He's just trying to make up
- 6:51another excuse. 11 In the Lord said to him, Who has made man's
- 6:57mouth, and who makes the dumb, or deaf, or the sing, or the
- 7:03blind, have not I the Lord? So God can reverse blindness, He
- 7:10can reverse deafness, friends, he can cause the mute to speak.
- 7:1712 Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you
- 7:22what you shall say. And that is what Jesus tells us
- 7:26in the New Testament, that when we're handed over, don't be
- 7:29afraid of what to say, but the Holy Spirit will speak through
- 7:33us. And here God is promising Moses
- 7:36that he will be the one who speaks through him not to worry
- 7:39about what to say. 13 And he said, Oh my Lord, send, I pray
- 7:45you, by the hand of him who you will send.
- 7:50So here Moses is trying to get out of it.
- 7:55He's trying to say, no, not me, send anybody else. 14 And the
- 8:00anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses, and he said, it's
- 8:07not Aaron to Levite your brother.
- 8:09I know that he can speak well. And also behold, he comes forth
- 8:14to meet you, and when he sees you, he will be glad in his
- 8:18heart. So here you can see that Moses
- 8:21is trying to come up with every excuse and every time that he
- 8:24does, God tries to encourage him.
- 8:27But here at the last, finally God hits his breaking point and
- 8:32his anger is kindled against Moses.
- 8:34He was not angry when he said that he wasn't eloquent.
- 8:37He was not angry when he said oh send someone else friends.
- 8:41But he was angry whenever Moses continuously kept on and on and
- 8:47on, and wanted him to just send anyone, one besides himself. 15
- 8:54And you shall speak unto him, and put words in his mouth, and
- 8:57I will be with your mouth and with his mouth, and will teach
- 9:02you what you shall do. So you can see here that God is
- 9:07going to be the voice. He's going to be the mouthpiece
- 9:11for both Aaron and Moses in Pharaoh's court. 16 And he shall
- 9:15be your spokesman to the people, and he shall be even.
- 9:20He shall be to you instead of a mouth, and you shall be to him
- 9:25instead of God. So he was going to use this tag
- 9:29team to go in and to dismantle all of the opposition from
- 9:37Pharaoh. 17 And you shall take this rod in your hand wherever
- 9:44you shall do signs, so you can see.
- 9:46Moses's staff had a very special miraculous power that God had
- 9:52put into it. 18 And Moses went and returned to Jethro, his
- 9:58father-in-law, And he said to him, Let me go, I pray, and
- 10:02return to my brothers which are in Egypt, and see whether yet
- 10:07they be alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in
- 10:10peace, he let him go out of his profession of keeping intending
- 10:15Jethro's flocks. And Moses was 80 years old, and
- 10:19he was asking to be relieved of this profession.
- 10:23And he said, Go in peace. 19 And the Lord said to Moses and
- 10:27Midian, go return to Egypt, and all the men are dead which
- 10:32sought your life. So you can see Moses outlasted
- 10:35them all, the ones who were trying to take his life.
- 10:38When he slew the Egyptian friends, they were all dead.
- 10:43And now he says, go back, do not fear. 20 And Moses took his
- 10:46wife, his sons, and he set them upon a donkey, and he returned
- 10:51to the land of Egypt. And Moses took the rod of God in
- 10:55his hand. So you can see that Moses takes
- 10:58his family, and he takes the staff, and he goes into Egypt.
- 11:0321 And the Lord said to Moses, When you go to return into
- 11:08Egypt, see that you do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I
- 11:13have put in your hand, and I will harden his heart, that he
- 11:17shall not let the people go. So God doesn't 'cause these
- 11:23things, but he uses these things.
- 11:27Never get it twisted, friends, when it says that God hardened
- 11:31Pharaoh's hearts, He just used the hardness that is in
- 11:34Pharaoh's heart. 22 And you shall say unto Pharaoh, Thus
- 11:40says the Lord Israel is my son, even my first born.
- 11:45So he's giving him at the very outset.
- 11:48He's giving him the opportunity to understand what first born
- 11:53love looks like. And so here God is saying that
- 11:57Israel is like his first born. 23 And I say unto you, Let my
- 12:03son go, that he may serve me. And if you refuse to let him go,
- 12:08behold, I will slay your son, even your first born.
- 12:12So we're going to get to see as the story unfolds that God makes
- 12:16good on his promises. Pharaoh should have let them go
- 12:19right here and right now. But because he had hardened his
- 12:23heart, Pharaoh is going to have to learn a very grievous lesson
- 12:29as the time goes on. 24 And it came to pass, by the way, in the
- 12:34end, that the Lord met him and sought to kill him.
- 12:39So we're going to see a very valuable lesson that Moses was
- 12:43about to miss. And Moses was about to go in and
- 12:49do the work of the Lord, and he had refused to circumcise his
- 12:54son. 25 Vin Zipporah took a sharp stone and cut off the
- 12:59foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a
- 13:03bloody husband are you to me? So perhaps she was not buying in
- 13:09to the whole Jewish culture of cutting off the foreskin and
- 13:14circumcision, which we know is a sign unto God of who his people
- 13:19are. And we are called to circumcise
- 13:24our hearts, friends, and we can be accounted as God's people. 26
- 13:29So he let him go. And then she said, a bloody
- 13:32husband, you are because of the circumcision.
- 13:35So perhaps old Zipporah, she was not wanting to do this, but God
- 13:42had forced her hand. And you can see here that Moses
- 13:46was about to die in the way. 27 And the Lord said to Aaron, go
- 13:51into the wilderness to meet Moses, And he went, and he went
- 13:55and met him in the mount of God, and kissed him.
- 13:58So you can see here that Aaron is so excited to see his brother
- 14:04coming back into the land. 28 And Moses told Aaron all the
- 14:08words of the Lord who had sent him, and all the signs which he
- 14:12had commanded him. 29 And Moses and Aaron went and gathered
- 14:18together all the elders of the children of Israel. 30 And Aaron
- 14:23spoke all the words which the Lord had spoken to Moses, and
- 14:27did the signs in the sight of the people.
- 14:31So can you even imagine, friends, Moses throwing the rod
- 14:34down and becoming a snake and picking it up and it's going
- 14:38back to his staff. Moses putting his hand into his
- 14:41coat and pulling it back out, and it's leprous and putting it
- 14:45back in and pulling it out and it's clean.
- 14:48Moses taking water and pouring it on the ground and it becoming
- 14:52blood. Can you even imagine the people?
- 14:55What did they say? We'll end on 31.
- 14:59And the people believed, and when they heard that the Lord
- 15:03had visited the children of Israel and that he had looked
- 15:07upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and
- 15:12worshipped. You need to know it's going to
- 15:15get a whole lot worse before it gets better.
- 15:18And don't be surprised if that's the case in your own life.
- 15:23Following after God takes faith. It's impossible to please God
- 15:27without faith. And he told Thomas, blessed are
- 15:30you because you see and believe. But how much more blessed are
- 15:34they who don't see and believe? And that is you and that is me,
- 15:39who are the greatest in the Kingdom of God.
- 15:42Friends, you need to know that God is going to help us make it
- 15:48to the end, no matter how hard that it gets.
- 15:51We put our full trust and our full faith in Him and watch how
- 15:55He brings you home. I hope you've been blessed by
- 15:58this amazing chapter, God's Word.
- 16:00I know I sure have. I'm praying for every single one
- 16:03of you. I love you.
- 16:04We'll see you back here tomorrow.
- 16:06God bless you.
