- 0:00Speaker 1: We got one more minute quarter they gonna make. Let's
- 0:01Speaker 1: get off the track.
- 0:02Speaker 2: So I'm gonna crank it up just a little bit, all.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Right on over here and I'll get in. It's Carne'm
- 0:10Speaker 1: gonna work come last, all right. Man. Everybody says you're
- 0:23Speaker 1: a dangerous man. I know it too.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Man.
- 0:25Speaker 2: The Commander's played the Giants in Week two maybe last year,
- 0:29Speaker 2: and right out of the gate, we had a lot
- 0:32Speaker 2: of trouble covering you. Everybody talks about coming out of
- 0:37Speaker 2: college and going into the NFL. You're going up against
- 0:39Speaker 2: the best corner every week. Talk about the difference and
- 0:42Speaker 2: the speed on the field and just getting you know,
- 0:44Speaker 2: getting yourself acclimated to.
- 0:47Speaker 3: The speed of the game was fast.
- 0:48Speaker 4: So when I got from high school to college and
- 0:51Speaker 4: the speed from college to the NFL was finally like
- 0:54Speaker 4: way fash both of those is because like you have
- 0:58Speaker 4: to build your pis and qs more. The NFL and
- 1:00Speaker 4: college like they okay with you making mistakes, like in
- 1:03Speaker 4: the league it'll get you fired. So I never really
- 1:07Speaker 4: watched film in college because I was always outside and
- 1:10Speaker 4: I was going in the slot. So I really ain't
- 1:13Speaker 4: have to watch film because I felt like I was
- 1:15Speaker 4: never going to see the same DV most times in
- 1:17Speaker 4: the game, especially, it depended on right that we wanted
- 1:20Speaker 4: to pick on the slot guys, pick on one of
- 1:23Speaker 4: the corners. It was always about getting matchups. Yeah, But
- 1:25Speaker 4: in the NFL, like, everybody's good, and so it's kind
- 1:29Speaker 4: of like you gotta pick one that might have something
- 1:33Speaker 4: wrong wrong with his game and then you.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Try to attack that.
- 1:35Speaker 4: But nine times out of ten, everybody's good in the NFL. Yeah,
- 1:39Speaker 4: So that's what makes it a little bit more hard.
- 1:42Speaker 2: One of the things we always say about young fast
- 1:46Speaker 2: race car drivers, We'll see how they act after they
- 1:49Speaker 2: hit something hard, right, you know, the guys come in
- 1:51Speaker 2: with real raw speed. Everybody's talking them up, but we
- 1:55Speaker 2: haven't seen them hit the wall yet, right, They change
- 1:57Speaker 2: some of them.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Kind of start thinking differently after that. What was your
- 2:00Speaker 3: welcome to the NFL moment? Actually? That Washington, that Washington
- 2:04Speaker 3: get that you were talking about.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Really you seen like when I did I ran like
- 2:07Speaker 4: a shallow It was like third and four, I think
- 2:11Speaker 4: thirty five.
- 2:12Speaker 3: I ran the shallow. I caught the ball and I
- 2:14Speaker 3: was going on the field.
- 2:15Speaker 4: On the right sideline, and one of the linebackers he
- 2:20Speaker 4: can't hit me really like I've seen him. I've seen
- 2:23Speaker 4: him in my I seen him in my perifial. But
- 2:25Speaker 4: it's like I thought he was farther than what I expected.
- 2:29Speaker 3: So I'm cutting up.
- 2:29Speaker 4: I'm telling the d on like locked the locked the corner,
- 2:32Speaker 4: that's right there. I'm gonna try to cut backside because
- 2:34Speaker 4: I'm like, the dude's not gonna catch me. So it's
- 2:37Speaker 4: like I see him a little bit, I'm like, okay, block.
- 2:40Speaker 4: So when I cut off the deal, it's like he
- 2:42Speaker 4: just magically just like disappeared just right there.
- 2:46Speaker 3: He smacked me. I ain't gonna lie.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Like it looked better than it looked harder than what
- 2:52Speaker 4: it scene like he hit me, but it's like I
- 2:54Speaker 4: popped right up and I was like, okay, already hung
- 2:57Speaker 4: in the lead, like all right, but I know for
- 2:59Speaker 4: like for sure, like in the league, like they're gonna
- 3:01Speaker 4: try to they're gonna try to hit you, like trying
- 3:03Speaker 4: to like they trying to knock you out.
- 3:06Speaker 2: I imagine Game one, a lot of nerves, a lot
- 3:08Speaker 2: of anxiety. But you've trained, you practice, you're ready, and
- 3:11Speaker 2: you were able to produce right out of the gate.
- 3:13Speaker 2: But how did the season how did things kind of.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Get more comfortable as the business you went on.
- 3:18Speaker 4: You know, when I first got in the NFL, it
- 3:19Speaker 4: was like, you know, I was kind of nerves a
- 3:21Speaker 4: little bit.
- 3:22Speaker 3: I'm a younger guy going in after three years, first round.
- 3:25Speaker 3: You know, it's gonna be a lot of expectations on
- 3:27Speaker 3: my on my shoulders.
- 3:28Speaker 4: So I was kind of like trying to figure out,
- 3:31Speaker 4: you know, what best suits me when I get to
- 3:33Speaker 4: the NFL, because your game is gonna change probably.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Every year that you played. Really, what do you mean
- 3:38Speaker 3: my game?
- 3:39Speaker 4: Like when I was in high school, you know they
- 3:41Speaker 4: always throw the ball deep, goballs post. I just catch
- 3:44Speaker 4: those people's head. So I kind of was like a
- 3:47Speaker 4: deep third guy. When I got to college, it was like,
- 3:50Speaker 4: I'm more of a slid guy, more of a shifty guy,
- 3:52Speaker 4: more of a speed guy. When I got to my
- 3:55Speaker 4: junior year, I was kind of like outside the other slid.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Guy could go either way.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Now when I got to the league, I have to
- 4:02Speaker 4: be that mainly that rob receiver, one guy against the manager,
- 4:06Speaker 4: going against that number one DV every game. Yeah, so
- 4:08Speaker 4: I'm outside, closer by the quarterback and more times you're
- 4:13Speaker 4: gonna get the ball other than more more than usual
- 4:16Speaker 4: because you right about a quarterback and you're you're like
- 4:19Speaker 4: the X receiver.
- 4:19Speaker 3: You're the most target every signing.
- 4:21Speaker 4: So now it's switched to like, I'm just the main
- 4:25Speaker 4: guy that gotta win one on one battles every time
- 4:27Speaker 4: I'm you know, outside WI really helped me slow it
- 4:30Speaker 4: down is being able to play different positions. With me
- 4:33Speaker 4: playing the slide, with me playing the the Z and
- 4:36Speaker 4: the X, I'm able to get the concept faster just
- 4:40Speaker 4: because they'll throw me at a tight end position. They'll
- 4:42Speaker 4: throw me at a slide, and I gotta know what
- 4:45Speaker 4: he got. When you're playing receiver, you have to know
- 4:48Speaker 4: what everybody has. Otherwise you never gonna know how you
- 4:51Speaker 4: can get yourself open or how you can get your
- 4:54Speaker 4: teammate open.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Everybody knows that you and Daniels are great friends. You
- 4:59Speaker 2: play together at LSU, as we saw Jayden have a
- 5:04Speaker 2: great year and have the opportunity.
- 5:05Speaker 3: To go into the postseason.
- 5:07Speaker 2: One of the things that I thought was so incredible
- 5:09Speaker 2: is how supportive to that you were, even though your
- 5:13Speaker 2: division rivals. I can appreciate that, being a Commander's fan
- 5:16Speaker 2: since the early eighties. I love the fact that y'all still,
- 5:19Speaker 2: you know, look out for each other, right. You know,
- 5:21Speaker 2: when I was a rookie in the in the NASCAR.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Series, I had a friend that was also another rookie.
- 5:26Speaker 3: We leaned on each other.
- 5:27Speaker 2: We traded stories about how we handled different things. So
- 5:30Speaker 2: speak to that relationship and how that's helped.
- 5:32Speaker 4: With I've only seen mainly the relationship is like a
- 5:35Speaker 4: brotherly love.
- 5:36Speaker 3: I mean, like you gotta say, like, y'all see us
- 5:38Speaker 3: supporting each other.
- 5:39Speaker 4: I think like the support is.
- 5:43Speaker 3: What drives us to try to keep on going.
- 5:45Speaker 4: I mean, when we was at LSU, we always wanted
- 5:48Speaker 4: to make it to where we're at now. So it's like,
- 5:51Speaker 4: just because we're at where we're at now, doesn't mean
- 5:53Speaker 4: we changed that change our relationships. And even since we're
- 5:56Speaker 4: going against each other, it's not it's not mainly just
- 5:58Speaker 4: to like but with each other.
- 6:00Speaker 3: We're gonna you know, we're gonna talk charge to each other.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's also it's like it's a it's a
- 6:04Speaker 4: family talk charge. Like you understand the assignment, Like between
- 6:08Speaker 4: those lines, it's a different it's a different week. We
- 6:10Speaker 4: act like I don't want anybody that everythink like just
- 6:13Speaker 4: because we're in the same division. Robb was like, it's
- 6:15Speaker 4: ever gonna change the fact that that's my brother. He got,
- 6:19Speaker 4: he got my best interest, I got his best answers.
- 6:21Speaker 4: So with that connection that me and him have, it's
- 6:24Speaker 4: it's it's amazing, it's amazing. But it's amazing that happened
- 6:28Speaker 4: in my foreigner. You know, he's older than me, so
- 6:32Speaker 4: I lean on him for a couple more things. He
- 6:34Speaker 4: might tell me something just down the line where it
- 6:36Speaker 4: might actually like when I when I get to that
- 6:39Speaker 4: point in life, I'm already have been taught it, you know,
- 6:42Speaker 4: from from football, perceptive from change, because he's been through
- 6:45Speaker 4: a lot. So you know I can heasy just walk
- 6:47Speaker 4: over that hum and easily just keep on ball, because
- 6:50Speaker 4: you know he didn't already told me how to how
- 6:52Speaker 4: to handle vision handles.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that's awesomn.
- 6:56Speaker 2: We've been going along in about eighty mile hour, eighty
- 6:58Speaker 2: five mile hour. We got one more minute for they
- 7:01Speaker 2: gonna make us get off the track, So I'm gonna
- 7:03Speaker 2: crank it up just a little bit, all right, we might.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Be able to go a little faster.
- 7:10Speaker 2: I'll wow, you bit, John, for I've been racing. So
- 7:13Speaker 2: my dad raised his whole career my grandfather.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I grew up in racing.
- 7:18Speaker 2: And I started driving as a little kid, and I
- 7:21Speaker 2: raced into NASCAR Series for about twenty five years.
- 7:26Speaker 3: I retired from full.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Time in twenty seventeen and I got into broadcasting. I
- 7:30Speaker 2: grew up in all this stuff and can't imagine not
- 7:33Speaker 2: ever going to the racetrack.
- 7:37Speaker 1: We're doing about one hundred and twenty.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Let's see if we can do one hundred and thirty. Damn.
- 7:55Speaker 3: And how fast they Loumber, they go.
- 7:57Speaker 2: They go about fifty miles an hour.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Faster than that.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Yeah, in the race tomorrow, they're gonna go around one
- 8:04Speaker 2: hundred and eighty hundred, ninety miles an hour, and they'll
- 8:07Speaker 2: be three wide. There'll be a car on the bottom,
- 8:09Speaker 2: middle top, eaches apart. It's insane, man, it's a lot
- 8:13Speaker 2: of fun. I appreciate you coming out here.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Today and talking to me.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Man, think about it, and I'll.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Be I'll be pulling for you, man, to have a
- 8:22Speaker 1: great year. It's gonna be fun to watch your career.
- 8:24Speaker 2: I'm gonna get to see a lot of them and
- 8:26Speaker 2: say that you're gonna be playing this a couple of
- 8:27Speaker 2: times a year.
- 8:28Speaker 3: But I'll be with you for the best man for sure,
- 8:33Speaker 3: all right,
