- 0:16Speaker 2: First, we'll start with oil and gas. There are two
- 0:18Speaker 2: ways you can look at today's announcement. I reckon. This
- 0:21Speaker 2: is the Aussie outfit n Z. They're called Enz Energy.
- 0:24Speaker 2: They've been given the nod to go have it a
- 0:25Speaker 2: look see off the coast of Tartanaki. It's important because well,
- 0:30Speaker 2: they're the first company to be given this right since
- 0:32Speaker 2: the Adourned band. But there's already talk online about the
- 0:36Speaker 2: fact that this was the only application for this particular permit.
- 0:41Speaker 2: There was nobody else applying for this permit one and
- 0:43Speaker 2: it's a startup out of Australia. Now, you could say,
- 0:48Speaker 2: and some are saying, this proves the point that there's
- 0:50Speaker 2: not much interest in therefore, why bother anybody Anyway, What
- 0:53Speaker 2: I actually think it tells you is that people are
- 0:56Speaker 2: bloody scared of the band coming back, and with good reason.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Labor in the green say that they will bring it back.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I asked someone in the sector about this and they said,
- 1:06Speaker 2: when that bullshit goes quite, when that bullshit goes away,
- 1:10Speaker 2: will get more interest. There's apparently another handful of permits
- 1:14Speaker 2: that have been applied for though not granted yet. But
- 1:17Speaker 2: this Aussie startup is the first and they're basically the
- 1:20Speaker 2: guinea pig. They are the test run. It's a small
- 1:23Speaker 2: step on what will be a very long road to
- 1:25Speaker 2: rebuilding an industry that's basically in pieces on the chopping
- 1:29Speaker 2: room floor. The fact is labor doesn't need to be
- 1:32Speaker 2: sitting on the treasury benches to have power over industry.
- 1:36Speaker 2: They have it now though what corporates call a regulatory risk,
- 1:41Speaker 2: and they don't like those very much. My question to
- 1:44Speaker 2: Hipkins and Co. Is pretty simple. This afternoon, New South
- 1:48Speaker 2: Wales has just gone to market on two tenders for
- 1:52Speaker 2: offshore gas exploration. Why should they get the jobs and
- 1:57Speaker 2: not us? Why should they get the royalties and not us?
- 2:01Speaker 2: Why should they get the company tax and not us?
- 2:04Speaker 2: What is the point in being cool on the climate
- 2:07Speaker 2: when even our nextdoor neighbors are doing the exact opposite.
