- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to Mediumship Sparks, a place for people who want
- 0:02Speaker 1: to create the spiritual life they actually want to live in. Together,
- 0:06Speaker 1: we're going to explore the many ways we're invited into
- 0:08Speaker 1: greater awareness, deeper healing, and self-trust. The insights, ideas, experiences
- 0:13Speaker 1: shared here are offered to spark curiosity and invite a
- 0:17Speaker 1: deeper exploration of what's unfolding within and around you. May
- 0:21Speaker 1: these conversations help you discover what feels deeply, quietly true
- 0:25Speaker 1: for you. I'm Noelle Dean, intuitive medium and licensed marriage
- 0:29Speaker 1: and family therapist. Quick note before we begin, the podcast
- 0:32Speaker 1: is for educational purposes only and provides general information. It's
- 0:36Speaker 1: not medical or psychological advice and not a substitute for
- 0:39Speaker 1: care from a licensed health professional. Now let's dive in. Well,
- 0:45Speaker 1: as my Aunt Ruth would say, I hope the deep
- 0:48Speaker 1: in you recognizes the deep in me. And in that way,
- 0:52Speaker 1: we actually are communicating. As I'm sitting in this reflection
- 0:58Speaker 1: of the inner and outer work that I've been doing
- 1:02Speaker 1: for the last year or two. I'm finding myself talking
- 1:09Speaker 1: about it more and more with other people and not
- 1:12Speaker 1: just keeping it inside and camouflaging it. Part of the
- 1:18Speaker 1: crux is looking to find a greater sense of connection
- 1:24Speaker 1: and peace So I need less of that from outside.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Being okay with who I am has given me freedom
- 1:34Speaker 1: to look at my relationships that I have created to
- 1:40Speaker 1: be lopsided. Some a long time ago, some not that
- 1:46Speaker 1: long ago, but I've been perpetuating it. And lopsided being
- 1:51Speaker 1: that if you and I were going to have a
- 1:53Speaker 1: phone call, We would get on the phone and say, oh,
- 1:56Speaker 1: how are you? Oh, how are you? And I would say,
- 1:58Speaker 1: I'm fine. Things are good. Something like that. And I
- 2:01Speaker 1: would say, how are you? There are some people that
- 2:05Speaker 1: I just tend to do that. Even if there isn't
- 2:08Speaker 1: something big going on with them, that's not a reflection
- 2:11Speaker 1: of them. That's what I've created. I think of my
- 2:14Speaker 1: life as maybe boring to other people. And I don't
- 2:18Speaker 1: want to talk too much about it because sometimes people
- 2:21Speaker 1: are terrible listeners. I... can feel when their attention moves
- 2:26Speaker 1: away from being on the call. And I hate that feeling.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I've had way too much of that. No, thank you.
- 2:34Speaker 1: But the downside of my no thank you is that
- 2:38Speaker 1: I perpetuate the lopsidedness of, no, how are you? I
- 2:43Speaker 1: don't really count. I'm fine. I'm good. No, but let's
- 2:46Speaker 1: both focus on you. And I don't mean just when
- 2:49Speaker 1: somebody's having an issue, because that's a given. If you
- 2:51Speaker 1: have a friend who's struggling, hopefully we have friends. that
- 2:54Speaker 1: reach out or were comfortable enough, that has been quite
- 2:58Speaker 1: a hard thing for me at times, to reach out
- 3:00Speaker 1: and ask for support. I know a lot of beautiful people,
- 3:05Speaker 1: but who I feel like I can go to for
- 3:08Speaker 1: actual support when I'm really feeling lost, kind of drowning,
- 3:13Speaker 1: I can count them on one hand. And that's not
- 3:15Speaker 1: a measure of anybody's character or care for me, really.
- 3:19Speaker 1: That's who I'm comfortable with talking to, what they can...
- 3:25Speaker 1: offer and do I find it helpful or not? Having
- 3:29Speaker 1: more self-esteem, confidence, self-connection helps us recognize that the relationships
- 3:38Speaker 1: in our lives, if they are living, breathing relationships that
- 3:43Speaker 1: we're creating together and supports both people involved, that's the ideal.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Maybe not all of them do. And part of that
- 3:54Speaker 1: is There are roles that we play in our lives
- 3:59Speaker 1: that dictates how we operate with people. And we develop
- 4:03Speaker 1: relationships along that path. And then that's our identity in
- 4:09Speaker 1: this relationship. When I talk to this person, they're the
- 4:11Speaker 1: ones with the bigger problem. So I keep my mouth
- 4:13Speaker 1: shut and I listen and I try to be loving
- 4:15Speaker 1: and remind them of how great they are. Whatever it is,
- 4:18Speaker 1: it's like these old patterns that we can be stuck
- 4:21Speaker 1: in when we know people for a long time. We
- 4:24Speaker 1: can also create new relationships with those same patterns. Now
- 4:29Speaker 1: we could look at it like a pattern because a
- 4:30Speaker 1: pattern is the what we do, but try on the
- 4:34Speaker 1: idea of an architecture or a structure for how we
- 4:39Speaker 1: learn to feel safe. A lot of this comes from
- 4:41Speaker 1: our adaptive mechanisms from when we're very young. What was
- 4:47Speaker 1: happening or not happening in our families of origin dictate
- 4:52Speaker 1: how we try to survive or feel okay, or try
- 4:57Speaker 1: to feel safe with people. We don't create rational, adaptive mechanisms.
- 5:03Speaker 1: It might be during a situation, over-functioning, doing everything around
- 5:08Speaker 1: the house when you're a child, because you have an
- 5:10Speaker 1: ailing parent or somebody has an episode of being sick,
- 5:14Speaker 1: or maybe one of your parents leaves and you don't
- 5:17Speaker 1: want to feel the gap or for people to be sad.
- 5:19Speaker 1: So you try to fill in these gaps with your behaviors.
- 5:23Speaker 1: And then you don't know how to turn them off
- 5:25Speaker 1: because it feels like that's who you are. And when
- 5:28Speaker 1: you're not doing those things, it feels weird, uncomfortable, unfamiliar.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Maybe you're going to disappoint somebody. Maybe they think you're
- 5:38Speaker 1: an asshole for not doing this thing you normally do.
- 5:44Speaker 1: All that to say that we actually train people about
- 5:47Speaker 1: who we are and how we operate and what we
- 5:51Speaker 1: do and what we don't do. If we meet somebody
- 5:56Speaker 1: and our pattern is to be the dedicated listener, every
- 6:00Speaker 1: conversation is more or less about them, then we're going
- 6:05Speaker 1: to create that pretty much everywhere we go. The thing is,
- 6:10Speaker 1: as we strive to be a more authentic version of
- 6:13Speaker 1: ourselves and we make changes in our lives, in how
- 6:18Speaker 1: we think, which at some point will change also how
- 6:22Speaker 1: we feel about things, what we're okay with, what we're
- 6:24Speaker 1: not okay with, setting up different agreements with people, like
- 6:29Speaker 1: taking away the agreement of I'm the dedicated listener, sticking
- 6:32Speaker 1: with that example, and actually sharing more about our own
- 6:36Speaker 1: life or backing away from that relationship because maybe we've
- 6:39Speaker 1: tried to change it and it's not changing. We risk
- 6:42Speaker 1: making people unhappy with us, which is part of why
- 6:45Speaker 1: we started adapting in the first place. That can be
- 6:49Speaker 1: scary because there was perceived safety in maintaining what we
- 6:54Speaker 1: were doing. That's why we started doing it in the
- 6:57Speaker 1: first place. Having compassion, real compassion for ourselves, which can
- 7:04Speaker 1: be the hardest thing to do sometimes, can help you
- 7:07Speaker 1: not feel bad or ashamed of living that way, of
- 7:13Speaker 1: creating those things. That's been one of the hardest things
- 7:16Speaker 1: for me. I've been a little bit addicted to feeling
- 7:18Speaker 1: bad about myself. That's a part of my adaptive pattern.
- 7:22Speaker 1: If I felt too good about myself, then my confidence
- 7:26Speaker 1: would potentially make me a target for a parent's anger.
- 7:30Speaker 1: I had that experience. So that's how I learned not
- 7:32Speaker 1: to do that anymore. It's funny, the little and big,
- 7:37Speaker 1: even nuanced things that we do and don't do because no,
- 7:40Speaker 1: I don't, I'm not asking for trouble. And we don't
- 7:43Speaker 1: realize it until we reflect and dig in to see
- 7:47Speaker 1: what it is that's like the air we've been breathing
- 7:50Speaker 1: this whole time. Taking the time and bringing the awareness
- 7:54Speaker 1: to our behaviors, our grooves. When you're busy working and
- 8:02Speaker 1: taking care of yourself and others, and you've got a
- 8:05Speaker 1: busy life, it's not easy to do that. Time passes
- 8:10Speaker 1: so quickly. If becoming more yourself feels unfamiliar, it doesn't
- 8:16Speaker 1: necessarily mean you're becoming the wrong person. It may simply
- 8:19Speaker 1: mean you're becoming someone you've never had the chance to
- 8:22Speaker 1: be before and you don't yet know what being her
- 8:28Speaker 1: feels like. I've had to work on guilt and the
- 8:32Speaker 1: reflex impulse because I'm not people pleasing and it's weird
- 8:38Speaker 1: not to. And that turn and run back urge has
- 8:45Speaker 1: come up quite a few times. And I feel like
- 8:50Speaker 1: I need to connect even deeper to myself to resist
- 8:52Speaker 1: that because I know in my heart of hearts what
- 8:55Speaker 1: I'm doing is the right thing for me. And how
- 8:59Speaker 1: I behave, the choices that I made were based in
- 9:02Speaker 1: so much fear and insecurity. And I can't feel negatively
- 9:09Speaker 1: about myself from that time because I can have compassion.
- 9:13Speaker 1: I don't blame me for being that way. That was
- 9:16Speaker 1: like all I knew and I couldn't have imagined anything
- 9:19Speaker 1: different or more true and real for me. I wasn't
- 9:24Speaker 1: in touch with me in that kind of way. I
- 9:26Speaker 1: didn't know who I was, except I found myself very
- 9:30Speaker 1: fucking annoying. I didn't like being me, all the negative
- 9:35Speaker 1: thoughts I had about myself or life or it was
- 9:38Speaker 1: exhausting and ugly. But apparently I needed cancer to help
- 9:45Speaker 1: turn me upside down and to shake some things loose.
- 9:50Speaker 1: And since then, I've had the time, like the luxury
- 9:54Speaker 1: of time to really sit with this and keep walking
- 9:58Speaker 1: down this path of recreating myself and my life, partly
- 10:03Speaker 1: because cancer treatment made it so I couldn't go back
- 10:06Speaker 1: to what I was doing professionally, which took up a
- 10:08Speaker 1: lot of time, energy, and space. There are times I
- 10:12Speaker 1: think to myself, I hope I don't need cancer again.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I hope I don't need something again to come in.
- 10:19Speaker 1: to make me shake myself up, change what I'm doing,
- 10:23Speaker 1: become aware and conscious of how I'm living. I don't
- 10:29Speaker 1: think this is bypassing. I'm hoping as a favor to myself,
- 10:34Speaker 1: not so much out of fear, that I can be
- 10:37Speaker 1: aware enough to keep doing that without needing something like
- 10:41Speaker 1: that to force me into that kind of situation. When
- 10:45Speaker 1: I was preparing for for this episode, I was calling
- 10:48Speaker 1: in my spiritual team and it felt right to call
- 10:52Speaker 1: in the energy of authenticity. I immediately got a sentence
- 10:57Speaker 1: or two. It said, it's a high price to pay
- 11:00Speaker 1: to feel good and at home and to bring and
- 11:04Speaker 1: provide peace to that soulful, to contrast the soulless part
- 11:09Speaker 1: of you. It's a high price to pay authenticity, to
- 11:14Speaker 1: feel good and at home within yourself. And to bring
- 11:19Speaker 1: and provide peace to that soulful version of you, to
- 11:23Speaker 1: contrast with the soulless part of you. And soulless, how
- 11:30Speaker 1: it occurred to me when this came through was when
- 11:35Speaker 1: we're living a life of routine and we're not being
- 11:39Speaker 1: conscious or connected or open or present. to what we're doing.
- 11:43Speaker 1: We're just going through the motions. That occurs to me
- 11:46Speaker 1: like there's no real soul of ourselves invested in what
- 11:50Speaker 1: we're doing. We're just doing it because. And what they
- 11:54Speaker 1: also shared was living that soulless kind of life, how
- 12:00Speaker 1: we sometimes end up living that when we leave our
- 12:04Speaker 1: bodies or they said, go upstairs, we have this like
- 12:07Speaker 1: V8 moment. Ah, uh, head slap with the palm of
- 12:12Speaker 1: our hand. Like I missed it. Damn it. It didn't
- 12:17Speaker 1: even occur to me. Or I missed that opportunity or
- 12:19Speaker 1: I kind of knew, but I let it go or
- 12:22Speaker 1: whatever that is. It's not bad. None of it's bad,
- 12:26Speaker 1: but just maybe we can enjoy ourselves more. Have this
- 12:32Speaker 1: life be a better of who we actually are on
- 12:36Speaker 1: the inside. And I believe you already know who that is.
- 12:41Speaker 1: I did. I just really didn't want to do the
- 12:42Speaker 1: work to uncover her. I was scared. I felt less
- 12:46Speaker 1: than way too often to be willing to dig down
- 12:52Speaker 1: and find her, excavate her, whoever that was going to be,
- 12:56Speaker 1: whoever I really was at the heart of who I was.
- 13:00Speaker 1: And I probably from a place of insecurity and fear
- 13:03Speaker 1: was afraid I'd always be alone, which I already thought
- 13:06Speaker 1: was my destiny. Now, part of why I talk about
- 13:09Speaker 1: myself on here is it's my one frame of reference
- 13:12Speaker 1: that I know is reflective as I can be. So
- 13:16Speaker 1: I can share it with you because it's only through
- 13:18Speaker 1: hearing other people share about their lives that I can
- 13:21Speaker 1: see things about my own. I'm just willing to lay
- 13:23Speaker 1: it on the line at this point. I have nothing
- 13:26Speaker 1: to lose because maybe you'll hear something that sparks that
- 13:32Speaker 1: knowing in you and you'll be like, F this. I
- 13:36Speaker 1: need to stop acquiescing to this person and that person
- 13:39Speaker 1: and this very dominating family member in my life that
- 13:44Speaker 1: kind of makes me miserable or whatever it is. And maybe,
- 13:48Speaker 1: maybe it's everywhere in your life. It's been everywhere in mine, everywhere.
- 13:53Speaker 1: And it is what it is. For good reason, you
- 13:58Speaker 1: created that identity of who you are to other people
- 14:01Speaker 1: and who you are or aren't to yourself. And the
- 14:06Speaker 1: cost of authenticity is losing stuff, potentially, outside stuff, not
- 14:14Speaker 1: inside stuff. Inside stuff gets richer, stronger, bigger, more compassionate
- 14:21Speaker 1: towards yourself. But you risk losing relationships, maybe jobs even,
- 14:27Speaker 1: maybe other situations and commitments that you've kept around for
- 14:33Speaker 1: a lot longer than they actually provided something good. It's
- 14:40Speaker 1: a pivot point to start changing your life in a
- 14:44Speaker 1: deep and profound way to actually suit you more. Like
- 14:50Speaker 1: who you really are, not the fear, not the insecurity,
- 14:53Speaker 1: not the adaptive crap that you've been carrying, but like
- 14:56Speaker 1: the real you, whoever he or she is underneath. And
- 15:04Speaker 1: how do you even get there. Like how can you
- 15:08Speaker 1: possibly get a sense of who that person is if
- 15:11Speaker 1: you don't just get quiet and sit with them even
- 15:16Speaker 1: for just a moment and tune in and see what
- 15:20Speaker 1: feels real, like right within you. I've talked about the
- 15:25Speaker 1: check-in method I've been using for a long time. It's
- 15:28Speaker 1: more using yourself as the barometer, not asking the universe
- 15:31Speaker 1: to help you make decisions, but it brings a level
- 15:35Speaker 1: of clarity. Maybe an hour ago, I was deciding if
- 15:39Speaker 1: I should take a shower. I wouldn't shower beforehand unless
- 15:42Speaker 1: I was going to record something. And so I checked
- 15:45Speaker 1: in if it was right for me to take a
- 15:47Speaker 1: shower and I got a no. And I sat with
- 15:49Speaker 1: it because there was something in me that wanted to
- 15:53Speaker 1: make this recording. Actually, I wouldn't have always paid attention.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I would have been satisfied with the, oh, okay, I
- 15:58Speaker 1: won't record anything now. I'll just do blah, blah, blah.
- 16:02Speaker 1: And maybe I'll do that later. The truth is I
- 16:04Speaker 1: know I'm not going to have time later today. It
- 16:07Speaker 1: was so interesting to generate the energy from that place of, actually,
- 16:14Speaker 1: I would really like to do that. And then all
- 16:18Speaker 1: of a sudden, the energy within me rallied. So suddenly
- 16:22Speaker 1: it was like a yes. That second part was a
- 16:27Speaker 1: little bit of a revelation. Holy crap, I can generate
- 16:30Speaker 1: that just by making up my mind to do X.
- 16:33Speaker 1: This was a very deliberate conscious moment. And it went
- 16:37Speaker 1: in a different direction. I feel empowered, not just empowered, strong,
- 16:45Speaker 1: experiencing more conviction. And I like that. It just feels
- 16:50Speaker 1: nice to be able to give it to myself. There's
- 16:52Speaker 1: an awareness and a self-love and a connection to the
- 16:56Speaker 1: universe and to you that makes me want to do
- 16:59Speaker 1: all kinds of good stuff. And staying who I was
- 17:03Speaker 1: and who I've been for a very long time prevented that.
- 17:07Speaker 1: I wasn't okay with making decisions. These are my wounds
- 17:11Speaker 1: and likely not yours. These are examples of the kind
- 17:14Speaker 1: of thing that stops us. And I know you've got yours.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I feel for you as I can actually feel compassion
- 17:21Speaker 1: for myself also, that we're doing the best that we
- 17:25Speaker 1: can and making change isn't easy because you become unfamiliar
- 17:32Speaker 1: to yourself. When you're doing things that make you uncomfortable
- 17:37Speaker 1: because you know it's right, but you're freaking scared because
- 17:42Speaker 1: you never say no to this person or you never
- 17:44Speaker 1: not do this thing. Or you're always home by eight
- 17:48Speaker 1: because you can't stand the idea of being out past
- 17:51Speaker 1: a time when it might be dark and then it's
- 17:52Speaker 1: scary stuff is happening. And then it's 9.30 and you
- 17:55Speaker 1: find yourself outside. You're going to be freaking scared. What
- 17:59Speaker 1: the hell? I haven't done this. I had all my
- 18:01Speaker 1: reasons for not. But here I am, I'm feeling the
- 18:05Speaker 1: energy in this moment, what feels real to me, not familiar,
- 18:11Speaker 1: but real. And then you recognize, oh my gosh, I'm okay. Wow. Now,
- 18:18Speaker 1: if you're like me, you could go right to, holy crap,
- 18:22Speaker 1: what is wrong with me that all these years I've
- 18:24Speaker 1: been doing that? Please don't do that to yourself. I've
- 18:26Speaker 1: done enough of that probably for the two of us
- 18:29Speaker 1: and a whole lot more. You are are an ever-evolving,
- 18:33Speaker 1: soul-filled human being. And you're meant to evolve. Not that
- 18:39Speaker 1: you should have already, but that you keep going. You
- 18:43Speaker 1: keep doing it. Just maybe internal growth, maybe nothing in
- 18:46Speaker 1: your environment physically changes, but the who you are becomes freer.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Hopefully that however we choose to live our lives, whatever
- 18:56Speaker 1: feels real and true and sacred to us. To the
- 19:03Speaker 1: best of our ability is how we live more relaxation
- 19:08Speaker 1: and relief from who we were and that we're excited
- 19:15Speaker 1: for the unfolding of who we're continuing to become, this
- 19:19Speaker 1: more truer version of ourselves. It's like a circle in
- 19:23Speaker 1: a way, an unfamiliar circle until you start feeling at
- 19:29Speaker 1: home in that. version of you, whatever it is for you,
- 19:34Speaker 1: to be that, the real you, that takes so much courage.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Making change can be uncomfortable for everybody around you. And
- 19:44Speaker 1: I don't mean abandoning commitments, but having integrity with them.
- 19:49Speaker 1: It's really... different. Maybe we're going to use this, I'm
- 19:54Speaker 1: getting the name Sarah, this example for Sarah. Maybe Sarah decides,
- 19:57Speaker 1: you know what? She has a conversation with her mother.
- 20:01Speaker 1: You call while I'm working and it's so disruptive, I
- 20:03Speaker 1: can't focus. So I'm going to ask for us to
- 20:06Speaker 1: talk every day as I'm driving home. I will call
- 20:08Speaker 1: you between 5 and 5.15 and then you can tell
- 20:11Speaker 1: me about your day and anything you need my help
- 20:13Speaker 1: or support with, I will gladly give it. But that's
- 20:16Speaker 1: when I'm going to be available. And I can't imagine
- 20:21Speaker 1: how liberating Sarah would feel. that she's not absorbing her
- 20:25Speaker 1: mother's panicky energy all day, that she actually set a boundary.
- 20:29Speaker 1: She's going to be able to emotionally and energetically prepare
- 20:32Speaker 1: herself for that phone call to be able to listen
- 20:36Speaker 1: and not be kind of guarding herself against her mother's anxious,
- 20:40Speaker 1: panicky energy. And I bet by the time she gets
- 20:43Speaker 1: home and she gets off the phone, if there's something
- 20:45Speaker 1: to do to support her mom, that's going to be
- 20:47Speaker 1: really clear. Then she won't know what to do with
- 20:51Speaker 1: her evening because she's not problem solving. her mom's life.
- 20:55Speaker 1: And then she's going to have to look at herself
- 20:57Speaker 1: and say, oh crap, what do I do now? What
- 21:02Speaker 1: do I even want to do? I haven't had this
- 21:04Speaker 1: much time in years. I don't know what I enjoy anymore. Sarah,
- 21:10Speaker 1: if you're listening, begin with yourself. You deserve your attention too.
- 21:17Speaker 1: You deserve your support too. It's hard to live in
- 21:22Speaker 1: the unfamiliar and the unknown. It's scary. Sometimes we'd much
- 21:27Speaker 1: rather choose even terrible partners for us because they remind
- 21:32Speaker 1: us of a parent and that feels familiar. And therefore,
- 21:37Speaker 1: even if it feels terrible, it might feel safe. We
- 21:41Speaker 1: confuse familiar and safe. They're not the same thing at all.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Familiar is known. Safe is safe. How can you? be
- 21:50Speaker 1: okay with weird, be okay with different. Why not do
- 21:54Speaker 1: the work to feel even better from the inside out?
- 21:59Speaker 1: This is an unexpected thing for me in my life.
- 22:03Speaker 1: And maybe had my life gone in the normal trajectory
- 22:07Speaker 1: of people without, let's say, having an experience with cancer,
- 22:10Speaker 1: maybe by the time I'm 60 or 65 and have retired,
- 22:14Speaker 1: then I might've started this process. I'm grateful to have
- 22:17Speaker 1: not waited that long I want to see it now.
- 22:21Speaker 1: I want to be ever evolving now in a way
- 22:25Speaker 1: I didn't have the wherewithal to do before. And I've
- 22:31Speaker 1: also recognized that I have to be less attached to
- 22:34Speaker 1: my relationships and what is familiar to be able to
- 22:38Speaker 1: do that. Bravely, unapologetically do that. I'm willing to let
- 22:46Speaker 1: go and change because I value myself enough. finally, to
- 22:52Speaker 1: actually do that. And that's what I want for you too,
- 22:57Speaker 1: wherever you're at in your journey. Maybe you're already at
- 23:00Speaker 1: step 16 and I'm still huffing and puffing on the
- 23:04Speaker 1: stairs at step eight, but these are my steps and
- 23:08Speaker 1: that's where I'm at and I'm not comparing. This is
- 23:12Speaker 1: the best I've ever been in this life so far.
- 23:15Speaker 1: If you do have an awareness of something that just
- 23:18Speaker 1: feels like it's missing, Look for it. Feel it out.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Let it come in. Whatever that process is for you,
- 23:28Speaker 1: you're worth it. It is more interesting than watching the
- 23:31Speaker 1: next effing Netflix series and spending your evening that way
- 23:36Speaker 1: and then the next and then five years later and
- 23:39Speaker 1: your friend's kid is now going into high school and
- 23:42Speaker 1: you're like, what in the eff happened to the last
- 23:44Speaker 1: 15 years of my life? Screw that. Have more fun
- 23:49Speaker 1: than that. this kind of fun. Yeah. I'm just getting
- 23:56Speaker 1: this visual of my spiritual team because I asked them
- 24:00Speaker 1: to be here and support me to give a message
- 24:02Speaker 1: that would be meaningful to you. And I just now
- 24:06Speaker 1: got this visual as I zoned out a little bit
- 24:10Speaker 1: of they're all kind of dancing around a little bit.
- 24:13Speaker 1: It reminds me of that Grateful Dead t-shirt where it
- 24:16Speaker 1: has those different colored figures dancing around. They're celebrating because
- 24:21Speaker 1: there's an important point underneath. And it's not my point.
- 24:25Speaker 1: This is what I've been given. And I'm just passing
- 24:30Speaker 1: it along. I'm saying it because even if we've never met,
- 24:35Speaker 1: it can be a really painful process to be here
- 24:38Speaker 1: in a body, in life, in 26, with all the
- 24:45Speaker 1: craziness going on around us and sometimes inside of us.
- 24:50Speaker 1: It's an effort to try to find a sense of
- 24:55Speaker 1: peace and wholeness and then to bring more of that
- 24:58Speaker 1: energy down so that more and more people can feel
- 25:01Speaker 1: and experience that. We can be portals of that stuff,
- 25:05Speaker 1: but we have to unclog our own drains to be
- 25:08Speaker 1: able to be that portal of that good energy. And
- 25:13Speaker 1: we can do that. It's not that it's hard, but man,
- 25:18Speaker 1: it can be long. It can feel like a long process,
- 25:23Speaker 1: but man, it's so worth it. With real honesty, if
- 25:28Speaker 1: I passed away soon after this uncovering of the bullshit
- 25:34Speaker 1: of my own life and my own thinking and had
- 25:37Speaker 1: whatever amount of time I had living more authentically, expressing
- 25:41Speaker 1: myself more authentically, gushing way more with love for other
- 25:46Speaker 1: people and life than I ever have before. Because that's
- 25:50Speaker 1: part of the outcome of doing this kind of work
- 25:53Speaker 1: is being that more soul-filled person. There's a contentment and
- 26:00Speaker 1: fulfillment that comes that is priceless and irreplaceable. Man, I
- 26:06Speaker 1: would so much rather live shorter that way than longer
- 26:11Speaker 1: the other. What does authenticity actually cost? A whole lot.
- 26:19Speaker 1: It's very expensive. You stand to lose all kinds of stuff.
- 26:25Speaker 1: But carving out that path back to yourself, you'll have
- 26:29Speaker 1: moments where you'll be aware that every speck of dirt
- 26:32Speaker 1: that you had to move to uncover her or him
- 26:36Speaker 1: was worth it. And that's a hill I'm willing to
- 26:38Speaker 1: die on. I hope you resonated with some of what
- 26:42Speaker 1: came through today. The song that was coming to my
- 26:46Speaker 1: mind is from an Imagine Dragons song called It's Time.
- 26:51Speaker 1: And it was the chorus of it. Don't you understand?
- 26:54Speaker 1: I'm never changing who I am. And you could take
- 26:58Speaker 1: that a lot of ways. It could be at the
- 27:00Speaker 1: beginning of our conversation, like I'm not changing who I am.
- 27:04Speaker 1: These are the things I do. And these are the
- 27:07Speaker 1: positions I've acquired. And that's that. But it actually felt
- 27:11Speaker 1: like who you really are. what you really know to
- 27:16Speaker 1: be true. We're just looking to live way more from
- 27:20Speaker 1: that person and from what's in integrity with them. I'm
- 27:26Speaker 1: leaving you with that with love. If there's anything you
