- 1:04Thumb up his ass. Happy Thanksgiving for Mr. Thumb
- 1:07up his ass over there in Florida.
- 1:09Mr. Nathan. He he got us our our guest
- 1:13tonight. Unfortunately, we didn't we
- 1:15couldn't get Hoke on, but Hoke will join us at winter meetings.
- 1:19He's been very, very busy. It's a holidays his family.
- 1:22I know everybody couldn't couldn't wait until Brian came
- 1:25on the show, but he'll be on the show.
- 1:27We'll talk some baseball with him.
- 1:28I'm sure he has his own take on the Nimmo and Simeon trade.
- 1:33And I'm sure there'll be other trades, maybe one with the
- 1:36Detroit Tigers and the Mets very, very soon.
- 1:40We'll see. And I'm sure the Yankees are
- 1:42working on some contracts. Bellinger seems like is the
- 1:47number one guy the Dodgers are going after.
- 1:50I've been reading. So the Dodgers are interested,
- 1:53interested in bringing back Bellinger to the organization.
- 1:58So they're the team that drafted him and he won an MVP over there
- 2:01with the Dodgers, and now the Yankees might lose them to the
- 2:05Dodgers. More deferred money going to Mr.
- 2:08Cody Bellinger. So I don't know.
- 2:10We'll see what happens. That's just the story that I've
- 2:12heard. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 2:14we call this save your tears. Mom, what's one thing?
- 2:18That you can't talk to me about my sexual fantasies?
- 2:21No. No, say your sorry.
- 2:24It is not ideal. But if it's what means it is not
- 2:26ideal, but if it's just not ideal.
- 2:28But if it is, what means? Double stamp.
- 2:31You can't dribble stamp with double stamp.
- 2:33Lord, you can't dribble stamp with double stamp.
- 2:35But but you guys. Now it's time for Save your
- 2:40tears, Save. Your tears.
- 2:45All right, guys, welcome back to Save Your Tears.
- 2:48This is the Compliment Chorus Edition, where we announced the
- 2:52winner of Week 12 of the NFL contest.
- 2:55Here's the way it goes. Everyone that lost gives at
- 3:00least 51% genuine compliments to the winner.
- 3:05Get that music on. Have Nathan mute whatever Lisa
- 3:08Ann video he has in. The back.
- 3:10His home studio and we are going to reveal this week's and guys,
- 3:14we are also going to do next week.
- 3:17Save your tears later on in the show.
- 3:19After our guests. So here it is, the big reveal.
- 3:25Here is the board, the big reveal.
- 3:28Yes, it's me. I am the winner for Week 12.
- 3:34Dak Prescott leading the way for quarterbacks.
- 3:37Big games from Dak and Hertz this week.
- 3:40The big win for me came on the back of George Pickens 31.6
- 3:46points at the receiver position. In second place was the big Nith
- 3:51him Stealth with the silver medal.
- 3:54I mean, we got to get these standings at some point Speedy,
- 3:56but Nithin's got to be way up there I would think.
- 3:59And Speedy, you as well in 3rd place with 84.96 Jarrett, tough
- 4:07one for you. Looks like according to the
- 4:09standings, looks like you got doubled up by a whole bunch of
- 4:12us. After that, it looks like Tommy
- 4:14followed by Errol and Java. Guys, you know how this works.
- 4:21I'm going to post up right here in the corner.
- 4:25Doo Doo. And now it's time for the
- 4:29compliment chorus. Suck my indo.
- 4:32Starting with Jerry. Yeah, that was a bit shocking to
- 4:41see just how poorly I did. I knew it wasn't going to be
- 4:43good. So doubled, almost tripled up
- 4:47this week. Well done, fish.
- 4:49Big, big week. 90 points is huge.
- 4:54Yeah. I mean, I think it's the first
- 4:57your first win since I've been on.
- 4:59Congratulations. Big win.
- 5:01Kind of surprising considering you make the boards.
- 5:03But yeah dude, well done. You do great work on this show.
- 5:06You help me out a lot and thank you.
- 5:08And man, good job again. Thanks Jared, that was great.
- 5:13Who do we have next? It looks like me next is going
- 5:16to be Mr. Jabba Chamberlain. Face about time you've been
- 5:21getting close, I mean. Shoot, you do.
- 5:23You do enough work on producing this show, it's about damn time.
- 5:27It was only a matter of time. We all knew it was going to
- 5:30happen now. Now Errol's really going to
- 5:33follow all your leads on on your picks now since you've won.
- 5:36So he's got to follow the leader at some point and and that you
- 5:39are so you've done a great job. I have a feeling this won't be
- 5:44your last one. And hopefully I'm not 2nd to go.
- 5:47And when you win this thing again, because that means I'm
- 5:49going to get better because I'm going to listen to you it.
- 5:53Was very kind job very kind. I blowjob.
- 5:56I appreciate that. Let's see who's next on and this
- 6:01one, Oh, it looks like it's going to be Mr. Arrow Marks.
- 6:06First of all, just because somebody wins doesn't mean that
- 6:09I'm going to be following them and listening to what they say.
- 6:12That's one. Number two, hey, listen, this is
- 6:16all about luck. It's it's, it's how everything
- 6:18falls together. It's the way you picked.
- 6:20I'm waiting for a positive. For two all right, well, I'll go
- 6:24for three. You know, it's all about the
- 6:26luck of the draw and I guess Fish was the lucky 1 here, but
- 6:30nevertheless, I told you I was going over for three.
- 6:34You got to get to 51%. You owe me 3 1/2 compliments.
- 6:37Now, all right, I'll give you 3 1/2 compliments.
- 6:40You're, you've been very important to the show as far as
- 6:44the executive production in the background.
- 6:47You do a lot of the graphics, you put the show together and
- 6:50you always reach out to me and make sure that I'm on top of
- 6:54everything that's going on during the show and off the
- 6:56show. So that I appreciate, I mean,
- 6:59you have great conversations on and off, not only about sports,
- 7:03about life. So I appreciate you being a
- 7:05friend. And even though you're a pain in
- 7:08my rear end half the time, your, your fantasy team is a little
- 7:13bit ahead of mine, but not for long.
- 7:14And I hope that we meet each other one way or another in
- 7:20fantasy, in the fantasy final, so I can whip your ass.
- 7:22But I love you, Fish. You're a good person.
- 7:25Good kind soul. Congratulations on a win.
- 7:29That's you need it, that's for sure.
- 7:32So. I'm going to say that was like
- 7:35probably 51% on the nose. That's as close.
- 7:39I think anyone's ever gotten. You should have put, you should
- 7:42have put the meter up there, fish as as it was just pendulum
- 7:46back and forth. Yeah, that's a good point.
- 7:49All right. Next is.
- 7:50Tommy. Scoops.
- 7:52All right, man, Fish, you know, fellow Giants fan on the show,
- 7:57man, like Errol said, nobody does more hard work on the
- 8:00production and you know, you are the producing glue, you know, as
- 8:04I would like to say. Producing glue.
- 8:07Why not? Let's go with that.
- 8:08Too. You want my cream pie?
- 8:09Hey. Man, fish, this is, this is.
- 8:10I'm glad to give you your compliments for the first time
- 8:12in a while. Honestly can't remember the last
- 8:14time like Jared mentioned, but hey man, honestly.
- 8:17Blow my back out. I don't know any other Giants
- 8:20fan that would be as bold as to rock their Giants gear in front
- 8:23of a bunch of Eagles fans in New Orleans, but you were the crazy
- 8:26bastard that decided to do it. You were the one that wore it
- 8:29proud. Group sits on the sitter.
- 8:31Anyways, anyways, man, yell, you rocked that giants gear very
- 8:36cool, like very astounding. So just like the way you got
- 8:40this, this win for save your tears.
- 8:42I'm happy. Poops.
- 8:43Yes. No coots.
- 8:43Absolutely, absolutely happy for you.
- 8:46And Arrow's over here at 5 year old.
- 8:47So I'm gonna, I'm gonna end it right there.
- 8:51I appreciate that Tommy, and honestly, why would I be afraid
- 8:54of a bunch of people who put like Nacho cheese whiz on top of
- 8:57beef? Anyway, moving on to the third
- 9:01place finisher. Fisherman and many talents.
- 9:05Congratulations on your first win.
- 9:07After all these times you prepped the game between
- 9:09football and basketball, I'm sure there's thousands of
- 9:11different combinations of teams you've had to put together and
- 9:14you've always been one of the most knowledgeable football
- 9:16guys. I remember when you first joined
- 9:18us and I was texting you all night about conversation about
- 9:20Josh's Adu and some of the other Giants struggling rookie
- 9:23offensive lineman or young offensive lineman and I'm like
- 9:26OK, this guy takes it to another level.
- 9:28Obviously fantastic job coach and the knowledge that you have
- 9:31is is immense. And now in addition to that,
- 9:34you're a teacher and you've took us, all of us to school.
- 9:37That's why congratulations on your first win.
- 9:39Anyone. I I think I've won basketball
- 9:44one time, but. I don't know.
- 9:45I meant for football. Yeah, I meant for football.
- 9:48The great myth, our silver medalist.
- 9:51What's up, Aaron, Congrats on the win.
- 9:53Finally, you did something right here.
- 9:59Congrats on the win. Talk's so tough because he's
- 10:02like. Remote one of the best.
- 10:04Producers. You keep everything organized
- 10:06for the show every every week, and you do a great job of
- 10:10keeping everybody intact. Nathan, is your phone like
- 10:13laying down? Is that the ceiling we're
- 10:15staring at? Horserad.
- 10:17Well, it's my laptop. I was like, why does it look
- 10:19like we're staring at the ceiling?
- 10:21Just like. You.
- 10:25Nathan camouflage tech tactics, we do know about that.
- 10:29Next week. You're a great producer.
- 10:30Don't want to think of the great work?
- 10:34Thank you, Nathan. I appreciate that.
- 10:37Sweet Tears will continue later on in tonight's show.
- 10:41I want to picture Nathan scuba diver freaking bareback you're
- 10:44going. To bring that one back, The
- 10:47Athletic reported on Saturday that the 49ers avoided their
- 10:51guaranteed money to Ayuk contract in July, which has
- 10:56likely contributed to him not playing yet this season.
- 11:00Iuke was due to make $27 million guaranteed money in 2026, but
- 11:07apparently Iuke violated the terms of the contract so badly
- 11:12that the 49ers front office led by Hall of Famer John Lynch that
- 11:17Iuke's contract was voided of its guarantees.
- 11:21The Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan, where I can't stand,
- 11:25called the situation unusual and the first time he's ever seen a
- 11:31contract get voided in his 20 years as an NFL coach.
- 11:36The 49ers organization said they would welcome Ayuk back, but
- 11:41that seems to be unlikely as Ayuk is due a base salary of
- 11:46$27.2 million and 29.15 million for the next two seasons which
- 11:55are now non guaranteed. The 49ers now take on dead cap a
- 12:02dead cap hip of almost $30 million in 2026 after voiding
- 12:07his guaranteed money. Ayuk has not played since week
- 12:11seven of the 2024 season after suffering A torn ACL.
- 12:16He signed a four year, $120 million deal before the 2024
- 12:23season after finish finishing second team All Pro in 2023.
- 12:33Well, it looks like Brandon Iuke will not be a 49er next year
- 12:39because I believe the 49ers will do whatever they can to move
- 12:42them. I do believe Brandon Iuke will
- 12:44be back sometime this year to play.
- 12:48I don't know what he's doing on and off the field.
- 12:51There is nothing that I have read on why they're they've
- 12:55taken away the guarantees. Again, I'm sure when more of the
- 13:01story comes out, we'll we'll hear about it.
- 13:03And I'm sure the 49ers are going to do whatever they can to keep
- 13:06it out of the tabloids, take it out of the papers or the
- 13:09magazines or whatever, whoever is going to try to get it from
- 13:12the media on why they're doing this.
- 13:15Now, Brandon Iuke hasn't played in a very long time.
- 13:18He is not 100% healthy and he won't be 100% healthy even if he
- 13:22comes back this year. Remember, when you you tear your
- 13:24ACL, it usually takes a full year after you come back to be
- 13:28at 100%. We've seen this many, many
- 13:31times. I was talking to the Beef last
- 13:34night about one of the young Cowboy players, the rookie that
- 13:38they drafted in the second round, who they drafted this
- 13:41past year, who tore his MCL, his ACL and PCL.
- 13:45He just came back and he hasn't looked good.
- 13:47And I told him it usually takes a year for them to be at 100%.
- 13:50So obviously we're not going to see, we're not going to see what
- 13:54he is as a player until probably next year or or the year after
- 13:58the fact. Here is Brandon Iuke is getting
- 14:01paid a lot of money. The 49ers invested a lot of
- 14:03money in him and not pay Debo Samuel.
- 14:06Debo Samuel has had a pretty good season in the first half of
- 14:10the season with the Commanders, but because of the injury to
- 14:13their quarterback and the situation with Terry Mclaurin
- 14:18not be not having their number one guy there.
- 14:21It's it's hurt Debo Samuels season to be I believe could
- 14:26have been all pro player this year.
- 14:27I I thought Debo started the the season very, very strong.
- 14:31But when Terry Mclaurin went out early this season and hasn't
- 14:35been healthy, it's definitely affected the offensive side of
- 14:37the ball for the commanders And you can see it that eventually
- 14:41their star quarterback Jayden Daniels went down.
- 14:43But the 49ers are a team that obviously didn't need IUK all
- 14:49season long because of their schedule.
- 14:50The schedule was really one of the easier schedules in the NFC.
- 14:54Now, what are they going to do in the offseason if they decide
- 14:57to move IUK? Are they willing to take this
- 15:01dead, this dead cap space that they're going to be dealing with
- 15:04that $30 million of burning Ayuk, which you're going to
- 15:08either have to pay him or move him?
- 15:10How is this going to work for this organization in this team?
- 15:13Do they draft another wide receiver?
- 15:15They, they drafted Ricky, Ricky Pearsall, what was it 2 years
- 15:19ago? Because he was going to fill in
- 15:21and take over for Debo Samuel. Now you pay Brandon Iuke, now
- 15:26you're stuck with the contract. If you decide John Lynch and
- 15:29Kyle Shanahan, if they both have jobs at the end of the season,
- 15:32if they decide to move him, who's going to take that
- 15:36contract on #1 #2 how are they going to fill in that spot?
- 15:41If they're they're going to have Dead Space, dead, dead cap space
- 15:44of $30 million. You're not going to be able to
- 15:46bring in a veteran wide receiver unless he's a washed up veteran
- 15:50wide receiver, not one of these guys.
- 15:52Yeah, will you, Will you explain to the listeners too, like what
- 15:55dead cap space means as far as the salary?
- 15:57Yes. Well, OK, so dead cap space is
- 16:00pretty, it's pretty easy to understand.
- 16:01So they owe him next year $30 million.
- 16:05So in 2026, they owe him $30 million.
- 16:08Even if if they trade him, they are still owed $30 million to
- 16:13the dead cap. So they still owe $30 million.
- 16:16So that $30 million that they were going to invest into
- 16:20Brandon Iuke is still on their cap.
- 16:23So now if they wanted to fill in or bring somebody in and give
- 16:28him the $30 million, they can't. So that puts them in a bad
- 16:33situation where they can't bring in a veteran guy.
- 16:35If like, let's say if Calvin Ridley is available next year or
- 16:40any of these guys that become available that might want, let's
- 16:43say eighteen, $19,000,000 to come and fill in as their number
- 16:47one guy, they're not going to be able to pay him that money.
- 16:50So now the, the only way they go is is the to the draft.
- 16:55Are they willing to to to draft a guy in the first round like
- 16:58they did with Ricky Pierce? All, and I'm not saying Ricky
- 17:01Piersol is a bust, but Ricky Piersol was the guy that got
- 17:04shot at the bank. Remember that?
- 17:06And and Ricky Piersol, I would say he's look good in certain
- 17:10games, but he's been a shell of what they thought he was going
- 17:13to be as a first round talent. They were comparing his skill to
- 17:16a Debo Samuel. When Debo Samuel was drafted, he
- 17:19was a second round draft pick by the 49ers.
- 17:21When they brought him in, he was a dual threat.
- 17:23Ricky Piersol is not a dual threat.
- 17:25They have not used Ricky Piersol as a running back style of wide
- 17:29receiver. This is what they used with with
- 17:33a guy like Debo Samuel and now I think has hurt them this year.
- 17:37Not having Debo Samuel has absolutely hurt him because not
- 17:40the fact that Christian Caffrey isn't a star player.
- 17:43He is a sensational player. There's no question he's one of
- 17:46the best running backs in the league.
- 17:47You're putting more pressure on a guy like Christian McCaffrey
- 17:52where they don't they can't spread the offense, they can't
- 17:55use the other guys out in the the football field because 1.
- 17:59Brandon Yuk is out and then there's George Kittle.
- 18:03George Kittle started the season up and down because he wasn't
- 18:05healthy. So now George Kittle is healthy,
- 18:08but he George Kittle recently said he was not 100%.
- 18:11He won't be 100% for the rest of the season.
- 18:13He he says he's more like 7580% and now you're wondering where
- 18:18are they going to get that, that second tier or even third tier
- 18:20offense from if Brandon now you comes back, he's not going to be
- 18:25100%. And now you're overloading a
- 18:27significant amount of money, $26 million of your cap to this man,
- 18:32which is not guaranteed anymore. Not at all because it's
- 18:35something that he did or probably said and I, I remember,
- 18:39but after he got that contract, he wanted to be traded.
- 18:43So he's been forcing his way out.
- 18:46He never wanted to stay with the 49ers.
- 18:48The 49ers were the 1, the ones that gave him that $120 million
- 18:52contract. So I, I, there's a lot of
- 18:55questions with the 49ers. They're getting older.
- 18:57They're kind of like a lot of these teams in the NFL right
- 19:00now, teams that like the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 19:03Now. It's so funny because the Kansas
- 19:05City Chiefs and the 49ers have been two of the best teams in
- 19:09the NFL for the last 10 seasons. And both teams will have great
- 19:14coaches as as you guys call Kyle Shanahan one of the elite
- 19:18coaches in the league. I don't.
- 19:20But that's on all that's a whole on a whole nother grid.
- 19:23My, my thought here is if you look at the 49ers right now,
- 19:27they just lost Nick Bosa for the year.
- 19:29He tore, I think. Did he tear his Achilles or his
- 19:31ACL? ACL for him, I think Achilles
- 19:34for Fred Warner. So they lost both those guys
- 19:37you're talking about Fred Warner, who might not be back
- 19:40next year because in Achilles is a significant tear, especially
- 19:44as a linebacker in a, in a star defensive lineman.
- 19:47And then Nick Boso, who tore his ACL, he might not be back until
- 19:50the middle of next year. So your two best defensive
- 19:53players could be at a significant amount of time and
- 19:55they're probably the the one of the younger guys on your line,
- 20:01Fred Warner, who's what, 2829 years old.
- 20:03Yeah, and he's probably the best man coverage middle linebacker
- 20:06we've. Seen so who's 28?
- 20:08So these guys are your your elite players and you're not
- 20:10going to have it till the middle of the season next year might
- 20:13not have them at all. And now you have money invested
- 20:16in Warner, you have money invested in Bosa, you have money
- 20:19invested in an Iuke. What where do you go next year?
- 20:24Where does Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch go?
- 20:26And if I was John Lynch, I would just walk away and and take an
- 20:30analyst job because to me they're going to fall flat on
- 20:33their face. The only reason why they have it
- 20:35this year is because their schedule has been really that
- 20:39easy. But next year is only going to
- 20:42get worse and they might make the playoffs, but making the
- 20:45playoffs is not what the 49ers are all about.
- 20:48It's going to a Super Bowl and trying to contend for a Super
- 20:51Bowl. The same thing with the Kansas
- 20:53City Chiefs. The Kansas City Chiefs, yeah,
- 20:55they've got Mcduffie, he's a young guy.
- 20:57Rice, he's a young guy. But then they have Travis
- 21:00Kelsey, they have Jones. They're getting.
- 21:04There's a lot of guys that are not a lot of guys, but they have
- 21:08important pieces to their puzzle that are getting up there in
- 21:11age. How many years do they they have
- 21:13left and where do the where do the Kansas City Chiefs go when
- 21:16those guys fall out and they need to find somebody to replace
- 21:19those guys. And that's why it's been a
- 21:21problem for Kansas City and why we talked about what Rice does
- 21:25to their offense. If Rice is a number one, that
- 21:27changes their offense completely.
- 21:29If IU comes back and he's 100%, how much does that change their
- 21:32offense significantly? Because they really don't have a
- 21:37number one wide receiver. Who's their number one guy right
- 21:40now? They don't have one.
- 21:42They don't have 1. Jennings was like a #4 guy two
- 21:46years ago because you had George Kittle, Debo Samuel and Brandon
- 21:51Ayuk. So you, you're, you're betting
- 21:54on Christian McCaffrey. And remember, Christian
- 21:56McCaffrey is getting up there in age.
- 21:57What is he 3031 as a running back?
- 22:00He's at the the tail end of his career as a running back, even
- 22:04though he's an elite guy, he's how many years does he have left
- 22:08as an elite player? So that worries you.
- 22:11If I was Kyle Shanahan, they don't and they haven't drafted
- 22:14very well over the last couple of years.
- 22:15If you look at their pics, they're they're not a lot of
- 22:18these guys. I don't know what fish is
- 22:20saying. He's 29.
- 22:21I don't know who's 29, but CMC, he's 30 years old.
- 22:24Next year he's 30. And you usually say when you hit
- 22:27that 30 year old mark, you're running back years or old over.
- 22:31So how long do they have Christian McCaffrey for?
- 22:35OK. And there And they paid
- 22:36Christian McCaffrey a lot of money in the offseason.
- 22:39So they have a lot of money invested in Christian McCaffrey.
- 22:43They just paid George Kittle A2 year extension.
- 22:46They just paid Williams, who looks old, Trent Williams.
- 22:49They have Brandon Iuke $30 million in dead cap space.
- 22:52If you even if you don't keep them next year, you still have
- 22:56to, you still have $30 million on your cap.
- 22:59You have Nick Bosa, who's probably not going to play into
- 23:02the middle of the year next year, and then Fred Warner, who
- 23:04might not play at all next year. You have all this money invested
- 23:08into your star players and, and if I was Kyle Shanahan, I would
- 23:11want out. Honestly, what do I have?
- 23:14What do I have to look forward to next year?
- 23:18This team and you have Robert Sala.
- 23:20You're going to look forward to Robert Sala as your defensive
- 23:22coordinator for a second year. I, I mean, honestly, and that
- 23:26division is getting better. The Rams are the best team right
- 23:28now in the league. Seattle might be the best, the
- 23:31second best team in all of the NFC.
- 23:34So what do you have look to? What do you have to look forward
- 23:37to? I mean, Arizona, because they're
- 23:39that bad. I I mean, the 49ers are in
- 23:42trouble. And in this Iuke story, it only
- 23:45starts to if you're a 49er fan. I know one who's a friend of
- 23:49Dabos, friend of the show, Mr. Owen, who by the way, told me
- 23:53yesterday I'll take a picture of me in a dress.
- 23:55I said that's not the deal, Owen.
- 23:57You said you were going to come on the show with a wig on,
- 24:00lipstick and a dress on during the show, not take a picture and
- 24:05you're going to send it to me. That wasn't the deal, Owen.
- 24:07And I know you're listening to the show, and I don't want to
- 24:09hear your take on the 49ers because there's nothing you can
- 24:12tell me to tell me that this 49er team is any good.
- 24:15And by the way, you know how we started talking the Shador
- 24:18Sanders, he says, he says, what do you think about Shador today?
- 24:21I said he sucked anywhere you slice it and you dice it, he
- 24:26sucked. Oh, he says he was 11 for 20 at
- 24:28209 yards. I said, dude, go look at the go
- 24:31look at the league statistics. They're not good.
- 24:34He was not good. Stop trying to sell me Shador
- 24:36Sanders. You want him as your star
- 24:38quarterback. Perdy's been pretty damn good
- 24:40when he's in the game. You're going to take Shadora
- 24:43over Brock Purdy? I mean, the only likely good
- 24:47position they're in right now is Brock Purdy might be for real.
- 24:51That's about it. I mean, seriously, Brock Purdy
- 24:55has nobody to throw to and he's still putting up numbers.
- 24:58So I mean, if there's anything that you as a 49er fan, you
- 25:02should be looking, there's more ups and downs as your
- 25:06quarterback. That's it.
- 25:08Christian McCaffrey is hitting the 30 mark and all those other
- 25:11guys might not be the same players.
- 25:13I don't know how this works out with Ayu.
- 25:16The Ayuk story. Ayuku is what?
- 25:18When he got that catch, he was 26, right?
- 25:20And he coming off flight, he was the 7th or 8th best receiver.
- 25:22How? Old is he now?
- 25:2427 He's going to. Be 2828 next year.
- 25:27How long does it how long does it take for you to lose your
- 25:31elite speed as a star wide receiver?
- 25:34Probably to the age of 2930. You're not the same player as
- 25:38Calvin Johnson. He retired AT30I.
- 25:40I I mean, you usually lose a lot when you hit that 30 mark.
- 25:44So I I don't know what is it? What is?
- 25:46What is he saying? He's saying like after a torn
- 25:48ACL is going to be even harder. Yeah.
- 25:50I, I think, I think Brandon Iuke especially, he's one of the best
- 25:53route runners in the league. I I don't know if yes, you need
- 25:57speed, but I don't know if you need that much speed to run
- 26:01around. I mean, you can run a route and
- 26:03still be pretty efficient. So I'm not going to say it's a
- 26:06speed. I think it's off the field
- 26:08stuff. I think it's all the off the
- 26:10field stuff that nobody can nail.
- 26:12Nobody can tell us what's going on with Brandon Iuke.
- 26:15The only thing I did here is Brandon Iuke never wanted to
- 26:19sign that contract with the 49ers.
- 26:21As a matter of fact, he wanted to go to the commanders.
- 26:23Remember that that's. Where I thought I was going to
- 26:25go at the time. He wanted to go to the
- 26:26Commanders, wanted to play with Jamie Daniels.
- 26:28Him and Jamie Daniels are friends.
- 26:29They train in the offseason. That was the place he wanted to
- 26:32go. He was shocked that the 49ers
- 26:34extended him and now he's a 49er.
- 26:37And obviously him and Kyle Shanahan don't like each other.
- 26:41But we've heard this many, many years for a lot of wide
- 26:44receivers that have been there. I, I, I remember Debo Samuel
- 26:48over the last two seasons has had problems with Kyle Shanahan.
- 26:52I don't know if anybody's watched the Netflix.
- 26:56What is that thing called Hard Knocks?
- 26:58No, no, no. Netflix has the wide receiver
- 27:01thing and and Debo Samuel was on it last year and there were
- 27:04problems going on with him and Kyle Shanahan.
- 27:07I mean, obviously they didn't show that on the documentary,
- 27:10but you can tell that Debo Samuel was not happy that
- 27:13Brandon Ayuk was getting more of the snaps than he was when he
- 27:15came back. He was not very happy about it.
- 27:17So I my thought here is Brandon Ayuk was never happy over here
- 27:23and he never wanted to be a 49. Yeah, it's a bad process because
- 27:26I think Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch tried to go back to what
- 27:29they were successful with when they first got to the Super Bowl
- 27:32against the Chiefs in 2019. They made it work with a lot of,
- 27:35outside of Debo Samuel, a lot of really old wide receivers.
- 27:37They traded for Emmanuel Sanders.
- 27:39They had Mohamed Sanu because he played with Kyle Shanahan in
- 27:41Atlanta and tried to make that kind of thing work.
- 27:43So they were like, OK, we could trust this process again and
- 27:46when our other receivers deteriorate, we could just make
- 27:48that kind of thing work. Then you mentioned Debo Samuel
- 27:50was complaining about a lack of target last year, and his value
- 27:53was already shot as it was, so they had to trade him for a
- 27:55fifth round take this offseason. And yes, while they do draft
- 27:58well with day three draft picks, that's still not the ideal value
- 28:00that you want. So you have to make Brandon IU
- 28:02Co work in some facet. And yes, we knew he was going to
- 28:05miss time, but this much time because of a contract dispute
- 28:08and you're going to rearrange all the guaranteed money?
- 28:10Yeah. If I was a player, I would be
- 28:12upset with that, too. You did it before the season
- 28:14started for 3030 million, 27 million in guaranteed money.
- 28:19Yeah, I don't blame Brandon IU for wanting to not wanting to do
- 28:21that. Then all of a sudden, worst case
- 28:23scenario comes, Pearsall gets hurt, Kittle gets hurt,
- 28:26offensive lineman injured, and then you have two defensive
- 28:29defensive stars hurt, which are already getting Warner's getting
- 28:32the highest paid in his position, which he's the best
- 28:34man of linebacker football. He deserves.
- 28:35Nick Bosa until these recent contracts is one of the most
- 28:38highest. So then all of a sudden you're
- 28:39stuck and you want to because you want to rearrange cap space
- 28:42when this offseason you had like going into the offseason the
- 28:44fifth most money and you can't make your players happy like
- 28:46that. It's a really bad process.
- 28:48I'd agree with you, Errol. It's not going to make a lot of
- 28:50good players want to. Trust and they're older.
- 28:52They're they're an older team, they're a much older team.
- 28:56And who says these newer players that these guys that they are
- 28:59going to want to replace them with are going to want to stay
- 29:00there? They don't have a left tackle.
- 29:02When Williams decides to part well ways with them, they don't
- 29:05have a left tackle. And that's a very important
- 29:07position in football. You can ask Fish.
- 29:09It's probably one of the most important positions in football.
- 29:12Their quarterback, they lost their star safety.
- 29:15He goes to the Broncos in the offseason because they couldn't
- 29:17afford him because they overpaid.
- 29:19They overpaid for a uke. So they've made a lot of
- 29:22mistakes that it's affected their defense and affected their
- 29:25offensive side of the offensive, offensive side of the ball.
- 29:29Debo Samuel is playing for the Commanders.
- 29:31I know his numbers don't stick out to you, but it had a lot to
- 29:34do with Terry Mclaurin going down to Jane Daniels.
- 29:37I honest to God, if if Mclaurin was healthy this year and Jaden
- 29:41Daniels was playing, I think this is a different offense.
- 29:43I think Debo Samuel has twelve 1300 yards thrown to him and
- 29:47probably running in about 300, three, 150 and he's been
- 29:50healthy, fairly healthy all year.
- 29:52Yeah, it. Was a big point of when he was
- 29:54the feature guy in that offense for a while, for probably the
- 29:57first five years of Shanahan's coaching there.
- 29:59And now all of a sudden they couldn't really find that kind
- 30:01of feature. They thought they had an IU in
- 30:0223 because he played great in 2023 and then all of a sudden he
- 30:05gets hurt and they had just had to make that kind of thing work
- 30:07because he's really good route runner.
- 30:08They don't really have it. Even Devo Samuel, he's really
- 30:10quick off the line of scrimmage. He's not a really amazing route
- 30:13runner either. And same kind of thing with
- 30:14Pearsall like you were saying. It's just interesting how
- 30:17they're going to shape it up or, and how it's kind of played
- 30:20itself out because I'd like to know really like what happened
- 30:24for it to be voided. And like, was it something that,
- 30:27you know, in the contract language?
- 30:29Like I I know there's different clauses as far as like certain
- 30:33things you can can't do. Well, it's 12 games, so it is
- 30:35the maximum that you could you could do, but apparently they
- 30:38voided at the beginning of the season.
- 30:39That's where I think it makes it look bad.
- 30:40Does it really make sense or what?
- 30:42Was there more to it or are they just trying to get rid of them?
- 30:45It's, it's interesting timing to say the least, but I mean, it's
- 30:49been obvious that he he wanted to go somewhere else too.
- 30:51So they're kind of in a tough predicament because even the
- 30:53guys that they spent money on aren't going to be back and not
- 30:56getting any younger and father Time never loses.
- 30:58So and then who knows? I mean, CMC to stay healthy as
- 31:01long as he has, it's usually just a matter of time before
- 31:03something happens. So it's, it's kind of a weird
- 31:07dynamic as far as what they're going to do and, and what
- 31:10they're going to rely on. And if Fish is right when he
- 31:13says that, you know, they got to go online in the draft next
- 31:15year, they should have. For like 3 years in.
- 31:18A row, right? I think the 49ers are in a lot
- 31:20of trouble and again, their coaches on the hot seat maybe
- 31:24obviously this year if they sneak into the playoffs, he will
- 31:26probably live to see another year.
- 31:29But next year he will be on the hot seat.
- 31:31And this is a team again that's older and John Lynch over the
- 31:35last two seasons was looking to walk away.
- 31:37How many times have we heard that John Lynch might retire as
- 31:40the GM wine want to go back to broadcasting and media work.
- 31:44I why? Because there's more stress and
- 31:46more pressure on him. And if you look at their draft
- 31:49over drafts over the last couple of years, they haven't been
- 31:51good. They haven't been like, wow,
- 31:53this player is going to be a star.
- 31:55As a matter of fact, they've lost young players, young
- 31:58talented players. They lost their star safety to
- 32:01the Broncos in you all season because they couldn't afford
- 32:03them. So, I mean, it's just to me, I
- 32:06just think the 49ers are in a bad situation.
- 32:09And, and, and if you look at the most important positions right
- 32:12now, they they have this kid Ward, right?
- 32:15He's still there if I'm not. Mistaken Ward.
- 32:17'S gone, so. He's with the Colts now.
- 32:19That's right, that's right. So if you think about it, they
- 32:21lost their star corner in the offseason, their star safety,
- 32:24and now you have all your star players.
- 32:27Williams is getting old. Nick Bose is hitting 29, going
- 32:30to be 30. Fred Warner is this is another,
- 32:34this is another serious injury to their defense.
- 32:37He could be, he might not be the same player if we go up and down
- 32:40their roster. The only guy that you really
- 32:42look like look at that's still fairly young and still has a lot
- 32:46of upsides, it's Ayuk and Ayuk runs.
- 32:49He doesn't want to be there anymore and they don't and they
- 32:51don't want him there anymore. So it's a bad situation.
- 32:55The only thing that I could say that they have in place right
- 32:57now is Brock Purdy. I think I, by the way, Owen
- 33:00needs to apologize for the whole Brock Purdy thing, because Brock
- 33:04Purdy, since he's come back, he's looked pretty damn good.
- 33:06So I, I, I don't know. And he has, he doesn't have Debo
- 33:10Samuel to throw to. He doesn't have Ayuk to throw to
- 33:14and he's still been pretty. Damn.
- 33:16They made those two random tight ends out of nowhere look really
- 33:18good to the next to Kittle. He looks pretty damn good.
- 33:21I I'll take back what anybody says.
- 33:23He's a secondary quarterback in this league.
- 33:25He's a top ten quarterback. There's no question.
- 33:27And you see what he's doing right now and he's going to win.
- 33:30I think he's they're going to put up some big numbers against
- 33:32the Carolina Panthers, even though it's his second quarter
- 33:35and still 00. I you could see that the team
- 33:38trust him and the organization trust Brock Birdie and that's
- 33:42why they paid him the 50 million a year which he got in.
- 33:45The welcome now. Yeah, Oh, there you go.
- 33:47So there you go. All right, MLB networks John
- 33:52Heyman reports that the New York Mets have traded Mr. Brandon
- 33:56Nimmo to the Rangers for Gold Glove winning second baseman
- 33:59Marcus Simeon. Stearns said early Monday that
- 34:03he was intrigued by Simeon's defense at second base as being
- 34:08one of the best in baseball, even if his bat isn't what it
- 34:13used to be. Simeon had his worst offensive
- 34:17season of his career last year with only fifteen home runs and
- 34:2262 RBI, but has six seasons of over 20 home runs in his career,
- 34:28including a 45 home run season in 2021.
- 34:33Stearns then thanked Brennan Nimmo for his service to the
- 34:38organization after being there since being drafted in the first
- 34:43round 14 years ago in 2011 and said he accepted a trade to the
- 34:48Rangers after speaking with degrom, who helped convince
- 34:53Nimmo to waive his no trade clause to make the deal.
- 34:56Nimmo had 25 home runs in 90 two RBI last season but had his
- 35:02worst defensive season since 2020.
- 35:06Nimmo Nimos contract has five years left on it making making
- 35:1119.25 million per year, while Marcus Simeon's contract has
- 35:17three years left on it making 26,000,000 each of the next two
- 35:21years and 20 million in 2028. I think this is a great deal for
- 35:26both teams. I really do.
- 35:28I believe when you look at a guy like Simeon, he is one of the
- 35:33best defensive players in the infield in the league.
- 35:35He's been that he's a Gold Glove winner and you have him and
- 35:39Lindor, Lindor is a shortstop and him as your second baseman.
- 35:42I mean, you have two elite players in the middle of your
- 35:46field. And, and, and I believe with the
- 35:48Mets, the Mets and I think baseball needs to go back to old
- 35:52school baseball. You need that that defensive
- 35:55side of the game. And I think what the Mets are
- 35:57looking at is they were, they had problems at second base last
- 36:01year with McNeil. McNeil was a shell of what he
- 36:04was over the, you know, over the years where he was an elite
- 36:07defender and he and he was great at what he did when they moved
- 36:10him around the field, the infield.
- 36:12I I just think Brandon IMO, he's been a great man 14 years, Great
- 36:17personalities, very good to the fans.
- 36:19He goes to all the autographed signings for the Mets
- 36:22organization. Every year you hear that they're
- 36:25doing autographed signings or going to go into hospitals.
- 36:27Brandon IMO is one of the guys that show up there out of all
- 36:29the Mets. He has been a good defender out
- 36:33in the outfield this past year. He wasn't as good as he was for
- 36:37the two years and he I think he was a Gold Glove winner one of
- 36:39those one of those years as well.
- 36:42I, I think that Stearns is trying to shake things up.
- 36:45I, I obviously they fell short last year.
- 36:48This is a team that is expected to be a contender, especially
- 36:53with the the moves they want to make in the offseason.
- 36:55I do believe they're going to do whatever they can to bring in
- 36:58when Diaz back. I believe Pete Alonso is
- 37:02definitely the next guy that they're going to try to sign.
- 37:04And I wouldn't be so surprised if they make a run for Tarek
- 37:08School. I think he's the guy.
- 37:10He's the missing piece. He's the missing puzzle piece
- 37:12for the Mets to be considered an elite team with the Dodgers.
- 37:17I do believe that what the the Mets are trying to do and
- 37:20Stearns are trying to do is she's trying to turn this team
- 37:23into his team. This is still guys from Brody
- 37:26Van Wagonen. OK, Brody Van Wagonen didn't
- 37:29draft Brandon Nimmo, but he was he was a part of the
- 37:32organization all the way through through Brody Van Wagonen and
- 37:36and, and again, Beatty is another guy.
- 37:38He was the first guy that Brody Van Wagonen drafted.
- 37:40Now what? When are they going to decide to
- 37:42move away from a guy like Brady, who really has not been the
- 37:46player they thought he was going to be?
- 37:48I think that the Mets are still going to be one of those teams
- 37:51this offseason, are going to make the most moves or one of
- 37:54the most moves in the National League.
- 37:56They've got a tremendous amount of young talent.
- 37:59They have a bunch of pitchers right now in a farm system.
- 38:01Two guys, well, three guys that they have up there.
- 38:04I believe McLean is the only untouchable one.
- 38:06I could see tongue going. I could see a lot of these young
- 38:09players that they have no room for in the future.
- 38:12And I'm not saying tongue, they have no room room for, but if
- 38:15they tongue, if they could get a Tarek Scubal and, and, and maybe
- 38:20move some of the young pieces that they have right now in
- 38:22their farm system, they're top prospects for a Tarek Scubal.
- 38:25Why wouldn't the Mets do that? You know, Steve Cohen has the
- 38:28most money. You know he's going to spend it.
- 38:30You look what he did with Juan Soda in the offseason.
- 38:33I, I, and I think Devin Williams is another guy I could see the
- 38:36Mets bringing in, not just Edwin, Edwin Diaz.
- 38:38I, I think the Mets are going to make the most moves.
- 38:41Is this a surprise that they were going to trade Brandon
- 38:43Nemo? No.
- 38:44Is it a surprise that it's the Texas Rangers?
- 38:46No, because it seems like one of their one of the teams that they
- 38:49they've been working with over the last couple of years on
- 38:52moving players and trading players and and letting players
- 38:54go to them is the Texas Rangers. And and Marcus Simeon, he is not
- 38:59a bad player. He is still an elite defender,
- 39:01like I just said. And I don't think I and I, I
- 39:05know city fields is a big city. It's a big stadium.
- 39:09It's hard to hit home runs. Texas is a stadium where there's
- 39:13more home runs and, and, and obviously Nimmo could hit thirty
- 39:17home runs next year. He could, he could over at 35
- 39:19home runs next year. He did it in city field and he
- 39:22did it with the New York Mets. So I, I think it works out for
- 39:25both of them. I just think there's a lot more
- 39:28pieces going to be added to the puzzle for the Mets.
- 39:31I don't know how many more moves the Texas Rangers are going to
- 39:34make. They're not a team that likes to
- 39:35go out there and spend money over the years they did, but I
- 39:39don't think they're A-Team. I think they're going to move
- 39:41players. I think, I think Seekers going
- 39:44to get traded this offseason. I do.
- 39:45I think Corey Seeker is going to get traded.
- 39:48I don't know where he's going to go.
- 39:49I know Fish wants to see him go to the Yankees, but I I think
- 39:53Corey could be traded. I think there's a there.
- 39:56I think they're trying to go younger.
- 39:57They've got a young farm system. They want to bring their guys
- 39:59up. Nimmo was a guy that's a lot
- 40:02younger than Simeons. He's like 3 or 4 years younger
- 40:05than Simeons is. And and again, Simeons is what,
- 40:0836 years old? Yeah, he's 35 guys.
- 40:10I think he'll be 36 in season. And and, and Nimmo's 32, so you
- 40:14you'll get more out of a guy like Brandon Nimmo and they
- 40:17needed help out in the outfield. And I think both teams will, you
- 40:20know, it works out for both teams.
- 40:22But I think this is a home run for the Mets.
- 40:25I think the Mets are looking to win a World Series this year.
- 40:27And I think they're they're out to and I think they're out to
- 40:30spend money and move pieces and move players where I believe
- 40:34Stearns believes that they're going to be a contender.
- 40:37The peak year, that's the peak years that Simeon's Simeon have
- 40:40had near MVP year. In 2019, he was the third guy.
- 40:44He was the 2022. He was a finalist that year as
- 40:47well. Even his year in Toronto was
- 40:48very good. So the one year he spent there
- 40:50when Oakland traded him in the offseason and Nimmo's never had
- 40:54a year like that. Nimmo's been always a steady
- 40:55guys and All Star friends, All Star type player consistently
- 40:59and always has been a good leader.
- 41:00With the Mets, I thought they could.
- 41:02There's a shot they were going to move on.
- 41:03I am surprised it was for this. I was thinking maybe he might be
- 41:05included in a potential pitcher deal if that was the case.
- 41:08If. He's a good lead off it.
- 41:09Yes, Simeon I do like though for this reason defense like you
- 41:12mentioned, also the durability like besides last year like he's
- 41:15played almost 162 games pretty much every year of his career.
- 41:19I think besides. He didn't miss a game. 4, Three
- 41:21years, yeah. And like that kind of thing, you
- 41:23don't get overnight. And is he going to be as bad
- 41:25offensively as he was last year with 15 home runs and a a 700
- 41:29OPS? Not in that line I.
- 41:30I can't see that kind of thing. So I think it's a potential good
- 41:34bounce back candidate. What's interesting is where the
- 41:36a lot of their young prospects are, are in the infield right
- 41:39now. So you're going to have to do a
- 41:40lot of shuffling or like you mentioned, arrow A.
- 41:42Lot they're going to move. I'm trading as a possibility.
- 41:45They did this because I believe they're in play for Tarek
- 41:48school. I absolutely believe it.
- 41:51I think the Mets believe it. And I like like Nick Cody came
- 41:54on this show, he said it, that Detroit is not resigning him.
- 41:59They're moving him and and right now they have control of him
- 42:02this year. They're moving him this
- 42:04offseason. So the Mets are one of the top
- 42:06two teams that I can name right now that are in play for him.
- 42:10And I think this makes a lot of sense on why they made this
- 42:12move. And also you look at the
- 42:14defensive upgrade to that. Beatty now could play third if
- 42:18he's still there. If they don't bring back people.
- 42:20Alonso then Vientos goes to first because Vientos third was
- 42:24a liability. I think so too.
- 42:25I'm just saying it prevent it prepares them for all these
- 42:27different scenarios. Ronnie Mauricio probably is the
- 42:29one that doesn't have a spot. I think he might be 1 included
- 42:31into trades. And then Acuna he hasn't really
- 42:33hit it all. So he's really just more of a
- 42:34defensive replacement and speed type at this point.
- 42:37Carson Benj is a prospect that's good for the that could play
- 42:39both center field and second base.
- 42:40So that's where it maybe it's a little puzzling that maybe they
- 42:43would have traded Nimo. Do they think Benj will be ready
- 42:45this year? Will be another question.
- 42:46But Nemo, from a leadership standpoint, one of those
- 42:49original Nets like you're talking about when you talk
- 42:51about Pete Alonzo being the captain of the team.
- 42:53So so you wonder how that could affect that kind of thing?
- 42:55But you could tell that Stearns was not a fan of his.
- 42:58You could tell that he wasn't a fan of his.
- 43:01They were trying to move him at the trade deadline.
- 43:03They were trying to move him at the trade deadline, but it
- 43:07obviously they couldn't find it. Yeah.
- 43:08Am I going to shuffle them? Yeah.
- 43:10Because I think if they were going to package somebody like
- 43:12him in there or another one of their veteran hitters, it
- 43:15probably would have been for a bigger swing on a pitch or two
- 43:18at the time. So maybe that's where I would
- 43:20have thought Nimmo would have been traded.
- 43:21I thought McNeil was probably the more likely one to be traded
- 43:23because like you're saying, they're Nick.
- 43:24Neil is gone. They're going to move him, I
- 43:25think. I think now, I think now maybe
- 43:28he has more of a role as a corner outfielder than he does
- 43:31as an infielder because his defense actually was good there
- 43:34the last few years more than it was a.
- 43:35Second, the story is, is the Mets are looking for a veteran
- 43:38center fielder that they can move out there and and I expect
- 43:41them to make a move like that. Dude, they have so many
- 43:43prospects. They've got like if you look at
- 43:46their prospect, you know, the list of prospects they have in
- 43:49the top 100, I think they have like 11.
- 43:52I mean, they're going to move these guys if they don't, if
- 43:55Stern doesn't believe they're going to be a part of a
- 43:57contending champion contending for a championship, you know,
- 44:01Steve Cohen is looking to win like soon.
- 44:04Especially when they told the fans when he took over this team
- 44:07that it's a five year, A5 year plan.
- 44:09Really. It's been over five years.
- 44:11We're going in what, 6 years now?
- 44:13He expects to win like now. So he is going to pull all the
- 44:18stops, Stern is going to pull all the stops to get the players
- 44:21he thinks or he feels fit that are going to be able to contend
- 44:24for a champion. And I wonder too if they're
- 44:26going to maybe make it a leeway where they don't have to trade 2
- 44:28pitchers in a particular deal to get like a school ball or maybe
- 44:32to a second tier they're. Going to have to give up a lot
- 44:34more than two. Pitchers, No, no, I know that
- 44:36I'm saying. But they it gives them leeway
- 44:37where they could trade maybe 2 infielders, maybe they go Benj
- 44:39and Jet Williams. They're going to have to give
- 44:41away at least 6 prospects and a player to get Tarik Scubal and
- 44:46they're going to have to pay him so.
- 44:48I'm just saying most of their prospects are in the infield, so
- 44:50now training for Simeon, they have more.
- 44:52How much do you think Tarik Scubals gets Jabba?
- 44:57Like AV or like years in total? Years in total.
- 45:03Oh boy, it's saying he signs this year.
- 45:07Like coming off the year he had, now he's.
- 45:10Going to get traded somebody he's going to.
- 45:12Probably. Well, I mean it's got to be, I
- 45:16mean he's going to be up there for most AV.
- 45:20So I would say probably at least 7 and I mean, I don't.
- 45:30Do you think he gets to 500? Yes, yes.
- 45:32Yeah. Definitely.
- 45:34I don't, I don't I, I think it's probably he's the closest one.
- 45:38If it's going to happen, it's going to be him, but I think
- 45:43it'll at least, I think it's at least six years, if not 7, maybe
- 45:47even more. I.
- 45:48Think it's gonna be 8 at this point.
- 45:49I think the Boris camp wants 10 but I don't think that's as
- 45:52realistic. But I think 8 maybe with the
- 45:54extra he's back loaded. He's 28, right?
- 45:5629 but you've seen a lot of these pictures too.
- 45:59They're not getting 10 year deals anymore.
- 46:01I know that and that's why, that's why I think it's
- 46:03unrealistic for the Boris camp. Right.
- 46:06Well, Scott will try anything I know.
- 46:09It doesn't make it realistic. I, I, my dad kicked Scott Boris
- 46:12out of our meeting. Nice.
- 46:14I believe it. I believe.
- 46:16It my, my dad was literally like this, this is enough.
- 46:19Like we've sat there for 4 1/2 hours and I'm, I'm still in
- 46:22college and I'm like falling asleep.
- 46:25My dad goes, all right, enough's enough.
- 46:26We're done here and literally kicked him out.
- 46:28He's like, we got to go. I will say this, Tarek deserves
- 46:34whatever he gets offered and I and if there's anybody that's
- 46:37going to pay him what he wants, it's Steve Cohen.
- 46:40And that's why I think it's, to me, it's a great marriage for,
- 46:43for the Mets to make this move and for Tarek, Tarek school ball
- 46:47and his camp to make that move. Because if there's anybody
- 46:50that's going to pay him the exact total that he wants, it's
- 46:54it's the Mets. And I could see the Mets making
- 46:55the trade and then giving him the contract.
- 46:57The only way they make the trade is if the contract is is pretty
- 47:00much set in stone when when the trade goes through, because the
- 47:03Mets are going to have to give up.
- 47:05You're talking about two starting young pitchers.
- 47:08They're probably going to have to probably trade two of their
- 47:11best elite young prospect hitters and maybe one or two
- 47:15players that are on their roster right now.
- 47:18It's going to, they're going to have to like unload the farm,
- 47:20but they're going to want like big league ready guys right now.
- 47:24I'm not saying superstar big league ready, but guys that
- 47:27either have a significant amount of time or like already like big
- 47:32league now, like they're they're because it's if, if they're
- 47:35going to do what they are going to get and then strike obviously
- 47:39and and take it for exactly, you know, as much as they've got it,
- 47:43they've got to ask for everything because at this point
- 47:45you get you want to take him right where he's at.
- 47:48You have that leveraged. Ask me like I want AB shit, I
- 47:52want all the way to Z like and give me everything in between.
- 47:54So. It's going to be very, very
- 47:56interesting. I'm I'm excited because as.
- 48:00I'm excited for him in his family.
- 48:03I like Tarek school ball and I want him to get as much as much
- 48:06as he possibly can. And what I've heard by Nick
- 48:09Goody, because Nick Goody's seen him throw like, you know, you
- 48:12know, practice and stuff like that.
- 48:13He says this guy is elite from elite.
- 48:16You, you've not, you haven't seen a guy pitch like this.
- 48:20There's one one out of every generation to see a pitcher that
- 48:23can pitch like this guy. So and he says not only does he
- 48:26deserve the money, he's as good as any pitcher he's ever seen.
- 48:29So that's that's high praise for one of the elite, one of the
- 48:33guys that you know, Jabba Nick was a professional professional
- 48:37baseball player and you too. You've seen the elite of the
- 48:40elite. You've seen Andy Pettitte pitch
- 48:41Mariano Rivera pitch live. And you were you were there
- 48:45watching them pitch, pitching practice.
- 48:47So I, I just, it's unbelievable what I've heard about this guy
- 48:51and I've never even actually got a chance to see him live.
- 48:54So, and the movement of the pitches I've seen, he throws A
- 48:58curveball like you're talking about 12:00 to 6:00 or whatever
- 49:01the hell they say the guy's curveball is ridiculous.
- 49:03So and. He.
- 49:05Yeah, and dude, he throws 100 and 506.
- 49:09It's ridiculous. And he did it.
- 49:11He did it in the 9th inning. He pitched a.
- 49:13Yeah, his last pitch was 103. It's ridiculous.
- 49:17That's, like, nasty. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 49:21Jabba rules history in the making.
- 49:23You. Ready Jabba Rules Rules.
- 49:28Rules. All right, let's go for it,
- 49:29Jabba. What are we going to get it to
- 49:31today? Today's going to be a short and
- 49:33sweet 1 and why this rules is because when when we talk about
- 49:37sports, we always talk about, you know, Terry school, for
- 49:40example, the most talented this that another thing, but why this
- 49:45story is absolutely awesome is I don't know if you guys have seen
- 49:48it. It kind of went viral.
- 49:50Elijah Blake is on special undrafted gear going after he's
- 49:56the gunner. He literally gets knocked down
- 49:59twice, gets back up off of his feet, goes and makes an
- 50:04unbelievable play, causing a fumble to hold them on and and
- 50:08do this. No expectation of a guy that
- 50:10hasn't been drafted, but seeing what it is and there's all these
- 50:14stats and all these metrics that people want to do.
- 50:16You can't measure that. There is nothing that any sports
- 50:20psychologist whatever you cannot teach that.
- 50:24There's no metric and I don't give a damn what you say that
- 50:27can measure the heart that that play takes.
- 50:29Why sports are great is because people like that and that's what
- 50:32makes it great for all these kids.
- 50:34You don't have to be drafted, that Brock Purdy, you could be
- 50:37mystery relevant. You can do all these things, but
- 50:40what you can't teach and what no number is ever going to tell you
- 50:43is effort and drive. And that right there is just the
- 50:46epitome of of what rules about sports and why you don't have to
- 50:49be the best, but you can't ever never take away heart and drive
- 50:54of of what that young man did right there.
- 50:56So that was really, really cool. And I will say this, everybody
- 50:59forgets how important special teams are and, and, and that's
- 51:02why you need 50, what, 54 players on a team, 53 players on
- 51:06a team. It's not just one player.
- 51:08Yes, you need a star quarterback.
- 51:10Yes, you need a good coach. Yes, you need a defensive and
- 51:12offensive coordinator. But there are positions and
- 51:15important positions that can cause or create opportunities
- 51:19for certain parts of a game and special teams, especially in the
- 51:22playoffs, if you don't win in special teams, there's a very
- 51:25good chance you don't win that game.
- 51:27That's why they talk about defense, they talk about offense
- 51:30and special teams. Why it's so important why the
- 51:33NFL can't take away special teams where the I've I've been
- 51:37one of those guys that have been pushing.
- 51:39Maybe you should just take away special teams, kick offs and
- 51:42punt returns because I think it'll keep, you know,
- 51:45concussions and CTE and and honestly, you can't take away
- 51:49from what has been a part of the game for over for 70 years.
- 51:54And I think that's what makes the game so special.
- 51:56And, and and like you said, Jabba, you don't have to be
- 51:59drafted. You don't have to be a first
- 52:00round draft pick. Tom Brady was a sixth round
- 52:03draft pick. You just said it.
- 52:04Brock Purdy was a seventh round draft pick.
- 52:06We've heard Russell Wilson was a third round draft pick.
- 52:09Just because you're not a first round draft pick does not mean
- 52:12you can't be an elite player and do something or be have the
- 52:15heart to be an elite player. You got to go out there, you got
- 52:17to work and you got to earn, you know, earn your spot on a team
- 52:21And and again, that's that's what's great about what Blake
- 52:25did and that's what's what's great about professional sports
- 52:27and sports as a whole. Watching these players really
- 52:31develop into the stars that they become so great drama rule.
- 52:35It was a great show. I want to.
- 52:36Wish everybody happy Thanksgiving.
- 52:39It's it's a holiday to spend with their families.
- 52:42I, I mean, the holidays really just, it's just for food and
- 52:46getting, getting hungry and filling your bellies up.

- 55:27conversation as the winter meetings are here.
- 55:31So I'm sure Charlie has a lot of information that we don't have.
- 55:37So it'll be fun getting Charlie on.
- 55:39We'll we'll get some. Well, he's a he's a big
- 55:42Nationals guy, but he grew up a Yankee fan.
- 55:45So I'm sure he has his own takes to the Yankees and and maybe the
- 55:49Mets. So it'll be fun.
- 55:51Charlie will be joining us. So it'll be cool.
- 55:53Anyways, that's it. Good night, farewell.
- 55:55Have a happy Thanksgiving. It's the worldwide sports radio
- 55:59network.
