- 0:00Salaam Alaikum and welcome back to the Aftermath podcast.
- 0:03We've now officially kick started off season three and
- 0:06I've truly missed our weekly conversations.
- 0:08I know you have and that's because you've subscribed and
- 0:10this is the first video you've seen on YouTube so far.
- 0:13Or maybe you're following us on Apple Podcast or Spotify and
- 0:16you've got a notification that we just released in the episode.
- 0:18Now before we begin today's episode, it's more of a recap.
- 0:22You know, looking forward, the things that we cherish from
- 0:25season one, season 2 and what is going to happen in the future
- 0:28when it comes to the podcast. Joining me as always, my amazing
- 0:32electric. I don't understand his driving
- 0:34was by the way. I'm just going to go straight
- 0:36in. I miss you, Salaam.
- 0:46Alaikum Salaam Allah, how you doing what?
- 0:52Did you say I don't know the response?
- 0:58You guys, I'm not. We miss you.
- 1:02We're back, honestly. We're back.
- 1:04We're back. We're back.
- 1:05Bron sister's so good to be back.
- 1:06I miss you guys so much. Well, La La Liam today,
- 1:12ironically, it's six days since we last recorded.
- 1:15Sorry, six, six weeks since we last recorded the podcast, which
- 1:19I think, if I'm not mistaken, is the longest break we've taken
- 1:22since we started in June 22. So I'm going to be cheeky.
- 1:27I'm going to say I needed that break.
- 1:28Yeah, I'm not going to lie. I needed it as well, man.
- 1:30It was. We know we've like for the last,
- 1:34like, we must have done 2530 like consistently back-to-back
- 1:39weeks in Season 2, which was intense.
- 1:42And there were days and nights where we finished at 2:00 AM or
- 1:453:00 AM where, you know, we had Guest Marshall Law come from
- 1:49around the world and a lot of hosting and even guests locally
- 1:53and obviously the beautiful conversations we had just.
- 1:56The two of us. But I think there was a lot to
- 1:58learn from last season and I think we grew.
- 2:01I know I definitely grew in in hopefully in Charlotte,
- 2:04knowledge and in just understanding of how our
- 2:08religion works, how our communities work and how we as
- 2:10like individuals work. So great experience, but I'm so
- 2:12excited to see what comes. Me too, me too and if I can just
- 2:15share as well. Also from season one and season
- 2:172 in particular, Season 2, you know we had numerous, I would
- 2:20say professional guests. I will call them professional
- 2:23guests because I learned so much from them.
- 2:25I found every conversation educational and it was something
- 2:27I, you know took back home with me.
- 2:29And most times I would say you know what I learned this from
- 2:32the podcast. So that was very nice to to to
- 2:35you know live what we what we say here.
- 2:37So we're not just talking, but when Charlotte, we're living
- 2:39examples of what we try to aim. 100% bro.
- 2:43You know when we started season 2 to now, Inshallah, when we
- 2:46start season three, a lot has changed for us.
- 2:50So when we started last year, sorry, when we started season 2
- 2:54we had a new logo which you can see behind us.
- 2:56Oh wait, you guys are seeing the set for the first time?
- 2:59Oh my days if you're on YouTube. Wow, last night we think in the
- 3:04comments below. And if you're not on YouTube, Go
- 3:06to YouTube. Go to check it out.
- 3:07It's worth it. Trust me, I love it.
- 3:09Yeah, it's been it's to be really honest guys, we've had
- 3:12like a lot of back and forth disagreements.
- 3:15And yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm still getting there.
- 3:19There's only one thing I like. I.
- 3:20I would say like it's 8 out of 10 for me.
- 3:22I love it. But there's one thing I don't
- 3:23like go on it's table. The table.
- 3:26Yeah, yeah, yeah. Always a pleasure to see you.
- 3:33Come and join us. I think there's no space.
- 3:37We'll make space. Have you ever said just Speaking
- 3:42of says Shahra Stanish, said Hussain.
- 3:44There's a lot of people who put in work for the set.
- 3:46You know we've. For those who don't know, we've
- 3:48we've recently really located to a new studio and a lot's come
- 3:51with it, a lot of furniture. So like this table, which means
- 3:54here they've had a lot of discussion about I'm still not,
- 3:57I'm not there yet. But there's people who have been
- 3:59critical, obviously our our producer and and the guy who.
- 4:02Managing everything behind the scenes, say Mustaba, shout out
- 4:05to you. We call him Mustaba Khan that
- 4:08says his name. His name on the.
- 4:11Street, you know. Yeah, his name on the street.
- 4:13Where's Khan come from? Because he looks, he told me one
- 4:16day he thinks he looks Afghani. So anyway he came up with his
- 4:20name and said, Shahstan, you just walked in and said Hassan
- 4:23Kazuini said Mossin, you know the whole team.
- 4:27Yes, yes, you asked of course, who's everyone knows.
- 4:29Part of the team has been like so critical in this.
- 4:31So it's. Been a lot of work, and you've
- 4:34been traveling, said. And you've been abroad.
- 4:37Why don't you tell us about that?
- 4:38I have. I've traveled.
- 4:40Not alone. I know it's not with you.
- 4:42I really wish you were there. I went with, said Mushtaba, the
- 4:45man behind the the after Maghrib.
- 4:48Everyone was asking like, who came up with this idea, said
- 4:51Mushtaba. Somehow I always tell him, you
- 4:53know, put your Instagram somewhere, you know, so people
- 4:55can know who you, who you are, have a have an image, a vision
- 4:58of how you look like that's maybe I'll tag him in the
- 5:01comments somewhere on one of these posts.
- 5:03But we really had a great time. You know, we met a brand new
- 5:06community that I've never seen before.
- 5:08And I the interest I saw that people have with their faith was
- 5:12something beyond belief. Yeah.
- 5:14And he it was exciting for me to know that we have Muslims, young
- 5:18Muslims. They can be busy in their
- 5:20studies, busy in their career paths, whoever it is.
- 5:23Yet they make time for their faith.
- 5:24And the most beautiful thing about our opportunity when we
- 5:26got to Vancouver, I'm gonna mention space conference in a
- 5:28second. When we got there, I realized we
- 5:31have an audience. Yeah, there's an actual
- 5:33community that listens to us, that engage with us and was an
- 5:36opportunity for me to have a conversation with them directly
- 5:39in person, face to face, that made the extra special.
- 5:41Yeah, yeah, absolutely. And you know shout out to Space
- 5:44Conference, I really wish I could have been there.
- 5:46I was at the same time off which I was abroad as on Ziada and of
- 5:49course you remember everyone in the holy cities of Mushel and
- 5:53Kong. And at the same time when
- 5:54sisters we we've been working on a lot here.
- 5:57So we've launched the Instagram channel and if you're not on
- 6:00there ready, check it out. We've got just under 700 people
- 6:03on that Channel and we want to try and get it to 1000 as soon
- 6:05as possible behind the scenes footage.
- 6:08Polls so you guys can decide titles or podcast.
- 6:11How can they find this channel? So head to Instagram, you'll see
- 6:14the after market family, I think it's called and you can click it
- 6:18and subscribe. Obviously there's no like.
- 6:20Formal process, you just join the channel and you get direct
- 6:23messages from us behind the scenes, Yeah, free.
- 6:26There's nothing attached to that as well and a lot going on as
- 6:29well in terms of events. So Handler we've been at
- 6:32community events here with with AB socks in the Midlands at
- 6:35Warwick to the Muslim convention as well and we are going to be
- 6:40doing more here and there I think in shallow and time
- 6:42permit. So stay tuned and yeah, we'll
- 6:44we'll keep you guys posted. Stay.
- 6:46Let's move on, obviously, because there's so much to talk
- 6:48about. For those who don't know the
- 6:50inspiration with the set. Can you kind of give us
- 6:53inspiration? It is, yeah.
- 6:55What happened. My, my, my, my.
- 6:58My idea of how this came to life is that said Mushaba went to
- 7:01sleep. He had a dream.
- 7:02Woke up. Woke up and I was like I I saw
- 7:05them averse, like he lived and he read and here it is.
- 7:08You tell us more. I'm not really sure.
- 7:10Yes. So when we were speaking, I know
- 7:12we had this concept in mind. Mushaba had this idea of like a.
- 7:17Like a very natural look on in the middle and then obviously
- 7:19like the mahogany, oak look on the sides, which is cool.
- 7:23Some of the props are the same and we're going to keep adding
- 7:25and removing props, which you'll see behind Sate Ali.
- 7:29Behind me we have a verse from Surdal Bakhara where alas,
- 7:32Bantala talks about Al Mashaki. Well, Maharabi.
- 7:37Talks about the East and the West and talks about Las
- 7:39Dominion over the whole world, which obviously it's nice
- 7:41because you know, we are falling in the Magnum.
- 7:44Literally speaking. Is that permanent, by the way,
- 7:46or is it like changeable? Do you mean like let's say every
- 7:49few weeks with a change the canvas?
- 7:51Yes. Depends if we get some new
- 7:53canvases sent on, yeah, yeah. You guys are welcome to send us
- 7:55some. We'll feature you on the on the
- 7:58props, but yeah, that's cool. There is obviously a lot which
- 8:03has changed obviously in the last few weeks, but there are
- 8:05some things which haven't changed.
- 8:06When we last sat down and said we were talking about the
- 8:09situation in Philistine, OK, that was the last episode in
- 8:11season 2. Six weeks on, it's like
- 8:16completely disheartening to see that not only the situation is
- 8:19the same, but in many ways it's worsened.
- 8:22So the time, if I'm not mistaken, maybe there were one
- 8:26or 2000 people who had been martyred and philistine, and now
- 8:30we're talking about over 15,000 people have lost their lives.
- 8:34They're complete. Egregious and abhorrent response
- 8:37from the international community to support a population of 50%
- 8:41children, 70% people who are out of work, majority of people who
- 8:46weren't born or even eligible to vote at the last elections in in
- 8:50the Gaza and who are being unfortunately subjected to
- 8:54international human rights violations.
- 8:58Aid is not reaching the Palestinians.
- 9:01Fuel, water, food supplies are not reaching them.
- 9:04So our part is, is there's so many things, multitude of things
- 9:08we can do. We talked about in the last
- 9:10podcast and I think it's even evolved since then.
- 9:12But I just want to get your thoughts because obviously a lot
- 9:14has happened since we lost that down.
- 9:16How do you feel? Is there like any, anything
- 9:20which has really struck you in the last few weeks or any
- 9:22message you want to show the people at home?
- 9:24Sure. The current events that's
- 9:27happening here in Palestine that we all see.
- 9:28And you know, what's sad is that we see a live stream.
- 9:32Yeah, to a certain extent, as if it's happening now before, you
- 9:35know, you have to wait for the news report, they film editor,
- 9:38release it in the headlines and then we see a few days later or
- 9:41falling hours. But no actually are seeing
- 9:42images of what's happening on the ground.
- 9:44Yeah, it's really shocking. I've had a lot of sleepless
- 9:47nights. I can't like this.
- 9:49I've had a lot of tears that's come down my eyes on the
- 9:51situation that I see, the oppression that's continuing to
- 9:54happen in Palestine, especially in Gaza.
- 9:56It's very. I just pray that Imam returns
- 10:00and he brings, you know, not not just joy to their faces, but
- 10:03inshallah joy to the entire world where there is no
- 10:06oppression anywhere, not even in Gaza, not even in Palestine, not
- 10:09even, you know, persecution, everyone.
- 10:10You don't even have to be Muslim.
- 10:12We just want peace for humanity and inshallah, we see that day.
- 10:15But there is something that we are doing half after Macrib for
- 10:20the people, Yeah. And it's called.
- 10:22I don't. I don't know if you want to
- 10:23speak about it more because you're more involved in it, but
- 10:26it's an opportunity where our viewers can get involved and our
- 10:29listeners and be part of something big.
- 10:31I. Don't know if it's, I don't know
- 10:32by the time, if it comes out, if it will be public, but we we are
- 10:35going to be partnering with an organization who are helping
- 10:38deliver aid into Gaza. I won't share the name just yet,
- 10:42but I want everyone in Charlotte to to check us out on Instagram
- 10:45and keep your eyes peeled because we are determined to do
- 10:49our small part. It's it's not even a drop in the
- 10:52ocean of what needs to be done. This is persecution which has
- 10:55gone on for decades, you know, and even delivering aid.
- 10:59Will not resolve issues. You know, we're talking about
- 11:02the fact that, you know, I mentioned, I mentioned that to
- 11:06someone recently. I was like the the trauma that
- 11:08these children will have for generations to come is just
- 11:12horrifying, you know? Kids who, if they hear like I
- 11:16saw a clip, A kid was like standing in a hospital or
- 11:19something and there was just like someone must have dropped
- 11:21their phone on the floor so there was like a noise in the
- 11:23background. The kid, like, jumped and
- 11:25shuddered and he like, kind of put his hands.
- 11:28Over his head like this in fright, purely because of the
- 11:33the PTSD that a child will suffer at that age and the
- 11:35trauma that's then ingrained in them, like, you know, for the
- 11:39rest of their lives. That that stuff is intangible.
- 11:41It's immeasurable. So anyway, by the way, it's not
- 11:43just mentally. There's actual physical life
- 11:46changing injuries a lot of these people have and you know they've
- 11:49been displaced from your home, not being able to have the
- 11:52nutrition and water and all the intakes you need to live a
- 11:55healthy lifestyle. This has a detrimental effect
- 11:58and the entire remaining of their lives.
- 12:00And imagine a child is going to grow up not like a normal human
- 12:04being. That is not right.
- 12:05That shouldn't be happening in the 21st century and it
- 12:07shouldn't be happening when every country surrounding
- 12:10Palestine are Muslim. That is a sad that's the most
- 12:13saddening thing about all of us. Yeah, OK, we need to move on.
- 12:16So more change is coming in. Inshallah.
- 12:19Season three, we want to start something new.
- 12:20Said. Yes, we do.
- 12:21That is a we're going to start a game.
- 12:23OK, So for every guest who comes on the podcast, inshallah.
- 12:28We want to start the after market ranking game.
- 12:32AM rankings. OK, AM rankings is going to be
- 12:35specifically, specifically, specifically, specifically for
- 12:40for guests who are like international or you know, who
- 12:43in a more lighthearted environment.
- 12:44So not for Shahad Art and of course, but for guests to rank
- 12:49their favorite items from one to five.
- 12:52OK, so let me give an example, Sid, let's do it.
- 12:55I'm going to give you the topic of food Lima.
- 12:58You already guessed 1. I'm going to give you, you
- 13:01already guessed one of them. I'm going to give you 55 foods.
- 13:05I want you to rank them one to five in terms of your favorite.
- 13:07OK, OK. For.
- 13:08People to get to know you better.
- 13:09Is there a timer for this by the way?
- 13:10No, but OK, we'll try to make it as good as possible can.
- 13:14I pick some. Say that again.
- 13:15Can I pick some? Yeah, of course, Of course.
- 13:17Go. On go on.
- 13:17So you start now. You start.
- 13:19OK. Number one, you said Tim or
- 13:20Clema, so we'll put that as one go on.
- 13:24But a chicken? But a chicken biryani?
- 13:30Smash burger. Oh, I've never had that, so I
- 13:33can't really judge it. Just a burger.
- 13:35A gourmet burger. Gourmet burger.
- 13:37OK, and pizza. So you've got Tim Nokima Biryani
- 13:42Smash Burger. What was the rest?
- 13:45Chicken, but a chicken and pizza, so I have to rank them
- 13:47you. Have to rank them so one is the
- 13:49least and five is the most. One is your favorite. 5 is your
- 13:52least favorite. OK, they're all good, but let's
- 13:57rank them. Yeah.
- 13:58So number one, I would say, Hey man, Why?
- 14:02Why? Because it's the one.
- 14:05It's the one food that can never go wrong.
- 14:07I don't know about Kabbalah, by the way.
- 14:08It's the one, you know, staple. I'll call it Shia.
- 14:11Staple every veggie, she'll have it.
- 14:13Every veggie is wherever it is. You're used to it and you can't
- 14:16go wrong. Everyone cooks it the same.
- 14:17It should taste the same and there's like you know,
- 14:20consistency in the texture and the taste and the flavour.
- 14:23So that's number one, 100%. Number two, probably the gourmet
- 14:30burger, the smash burger, because you can't go wrong with
- 14:33burgers as well. You know, growing up in the West
- 14:35is something we're very used to, #3.
- 14:37I would say bar chicken doesn't hurt.
- 14:39OK, OK, I like that. You know, sometimes you want to
- 14:41be a bit more exotic with your food.
- 14:43You'll go for that. You go out somewhere fancy,
- 14:45you'll have that to eat #4. What was what?
- 14:47Was the other two biryani and pizza OK?
- 14:51Biryani don't do it. You put biryani 4?
- 14:53Yeah, Biryani. Do not put that number 5
- 14:56biryani. Should have been afraid.
- 14:58To be honest, Biryani's number one biryani, but can't be spicy
- 15:01like that. I have to make that absolutely
- 15:03clear. Habibi Iraqi has to be my mum's
- 15:05spicy. The brown views.
- 15:08Right now, angry. Rip the cables on the TV and #5
- 15:12pizza, but I have to have pineapple if you don't like
- 15:14pineapple. Good.
- 15:15We're not friends. We're not friends.
- 15:17Say do you you season your biryani?
- 15:20With what I don't. I just eat it.
- 15:26Salt and pepper. Salt and pepper.
- 15:27All right. Cool.
- 15:27That's cool. So we'll try and do that.
- 15:28I think in in the in the for for guests.
- 15:30Maybe we'll do it next week because I know we've got a guest
- 15:32coming on just one or two very quick.
- 15:35Last things, I want to quickly talk to everyone at home about
- 15:38changes that are happening wider obviously after marketing for
- 15:41those who are new and if you've come across us in the last few
- 15:43weeks, this is your first podcast.
- 15:45We obviously a brand with two shows at the moment.
- 15:47That's the podcast which you're listening to, and Jomar Nights,
- 15:50which will restart AS. Well, tomorrow, so stay tuned
- 15:53and we'll see next week, next week, Charles, you'll see
- 15:56Mohammed Ali next week. So check that out.
- 16:00Part of that, we're also obviously part of the Azul Bay
- 16:02TV team. Azul Bay TV in the last few
- 16:05weeks has gone through a change and an evolution in in in the
- 16:09way it's broadcasting to viewership around the world.
- 16:12So obviously it's been a staple in our households for 1314 years
- 16:16on our TV's. But now is the time, I think, to
- 16:18evolve out of of the world of TV broadcasting and to take things
- 16:22more digitally. So a little bit TV in Charlotte
- 16:25in the coming years, you will see it more on apps, you'll see
- 16:29it more on on your smartphones and on your smart TV's and
- 16:32whatnot. So it's so important.
- 16:34Firstly, if you are a viewer of a little bit TV, you can now
- 16:37watch the channel on your Fire Stick.
- 16:40And you can get your Fire Stick if you don't have one.
- 16:43I got a Fire Stick said. It changed my experience of
- 16:45watching TV entirely because you can watch anything and
- 16:48everything and it's obviously voice control and all of that.
- 16:51You can download the app. There are I believe 4 channels.
- 16:56On the app, so you've got the normal channel for Adelbate TV,
- 16:59Quran channels, 24/7 Quran around the clock documentaries
- 17:03and inshallah I think a kids channel coming soon as well.
- 17:06So you can download that. If you don't have a Fire Stick,
- 17:08you can head over to the Adelbate TV website and get a
- 17:11fire Stick. All you have to do is become a
- 17:13subscriber and support adelbate TV and they will give you and
- 17:16gift you a free Fire Stick. So check that out.
- 17:19They are doing incredible work and we're really proud to
- 17:22support that and Charlie might even see some exclusive content
- 17:25from after market exclusive. To the Fire Stick viewers, so
- 17:27stay tuned for that as well, but it's part of a an ongoing
- 17:31process. The goal is to make a little bit
- 17:33TV to develop a Netflix style app which you'll see in the
- 17:38years or months even to come. So this is like a digital
- 17:40revolution for the shower. Evolution, evolution, revolution
- 17:44and evolution. You know, we're moving away.
- 17:47A lot of people don't have time to watch TV now.
- 17:48Yeah, yeah, yeah. You.
- 17:49Know, so I mean. Look at us, we we don't.
- 17:52The content we produce is not based for TV, It's based for for
- 17:56an audience which is busy and multitasking well.
- 17:58Why should they partner up with their liberty?
- 18:00TVI think that's the most critical bit here.
- 18:02I think for two reasons. One is because it's the right
- 18:05thing to do morally and #2 is the right thing to do logically.
- 18:09So when I say morally, I think it's because you're you're
- 18:11you're you're looking at a channel which is supporting the
- 18:15Shia community. Thousands of people have
- 18:16reverted towards Shiism for it and at the same time.
- 18:21The the role that Hadid Bait TV has in I believe in the under
- 18:25the rule of the holy Imam inshallah when he returns.
- 18:27It's critical so to portray the message of the Aimalim Salaam
- 18:30and of course alia qaran to a western audience when you in a
- 18:33world where we don't have many, many western Shia platforms.
- 18:36So morally it's the right thing logically speaking there's a
- 18:38track record for it bro. Hundreds of documentaries 10s of
- 18:42thousands of hours worth of content.
- 18:44Since 2009, has has visited probably 25 countries around the
- 18:48world to film content. And now the channels at a stage
- 18:52where it's investing heavily into the next digital phase.
- 18:56So you'll see more shows like After Magalip and more more
- 18:59shows of different styles. You'll see a high quality of
- 19:02guest and so on. So yeah, it's definitely the
- 19:04right thing to do guys. So check it out, visit a little
- 19:06bit TV on their website, check out their Instagram page.
- 19:09There's a lot happening. Really excited to be a part of
- 19:11it as well. Yeah, sometimes.
- 19:14Now Also a little news about after Muggle as well.
- 19:16There's like a website, there's like, you know, some merch
- 19:19coming on the way as well. Can you speak about that a bit?
- 19:21Why don't you speak about it? Because I'm not really.
- 19:23I can't articulate it as well as.
- 19:25You. No, I definitely can't.
- 19:27Also because like our. Website is up and running after
- 19:30mugle.com although it's still blank but I think there were two
- 19:34main focuses is the going to be the blogs page and the merch.
- 19:39So those are two things to look forward to.
- 19:42Blogs are articles that the viewers can write in and have
- 19:46published for them, and then merch is just a way for you guys
- 19:49to get involved. Yeah, you can support us by by
- 19:52buying merch and being part of the brand.
- 19:55You've seen us wear some of the merch, some of the hoodies and
- 19:58stuff like that, but we're going to be adding a lot more lines to
- 20:00it and not just AM branding we're going to be doing.
- 20:03The designs of all sorts of branding that you can wear for
- 20:05majalis, you can wear to the gym, you can wear to uni,
- 20:08lectures wherever you are and obviously it goes back towards
- 20:11the work we do. It means we can get a higher
- 20:13quality guest and we can in Charlotte invest more into the
- 20:17work we do. And with the blogs like like you
- 20:20said say, super, super important and it allows you guys hopefully
- 20:24to to get involved and to write content.
- 20:26Not happening, not a lot of time.
- 20:28So we need your support guys. Anything to add to it?
- 20:31No, I just want to say that I, I if, look, if you are subscribed
- 20:35or not subscribed, if you're a subscriber ready, you'll handle
- 20:37it. But if not, tell your friends,
- 20:39tell your families and let everyone know about this
- 20:41platform. Let everyone know about
- 20:42Aftermath. Because it's not for me and it's
- 20:44not for Ahmed and it's not for saying much about grand scenes.
- 20:46It's for you and people like you.
- 20:48And we want to give you a sense of belonging, a sense of
- 20:50identity, and a place where you can inshallah benefit and find
- 20:54educational programming and content that comes for the
- 20:57entire Muslim world. Not just for hardcore Shia, but
- 21:00for Muslims in general, absolutely, absolutely.

- 21:06week. Ishala don't go anywhere.
