- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Can't I Am six forty, the Bill
- 0:03Speaker 1: Handles show on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Why if you want sand, I'm just sitting there. Just
- 0:15Speaker 2: if you sit there, you get sand in your butt?
- 0:17Speaker 1: I do not.
- 0:18Speaker 3: I guess you really button it.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Rubs the sand rubs it for you. It's there. It's
- 0:25Speaker 2: sand at the crack of your butt. When you go
- 0:28Speaker 2: to the beach. Will are you a beach goer?
- 0:30Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 0:30Speaker 2: But I'm not the sharks. They don't bother me.
- 0:33Speaker 4: Okay, So you sit out on the beach with a
- 0:36Speaker 4: towel under you, right? Do people come out and poke
- 0:38Speaker 4: you with sticks?
- 0:39Speaker 5: Wow?
- 0:40Speaker 2: And now handle on the news, ladies and gentlemen. Here's
- 0:45Speaker 2: Bill handle.
- 0:47Speaker 5: All right.
- 0:48Speaker 2: It is a Monday morning, July.
- 0:51Speaker 4: By good morning, everybody is back in the saddle again.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Amy, you were gone all week. Mom had surgery.
- 0:59Speaker 4: How she doing.
- 1:00Speaker 6: She's doing really really good, really good, up and around.
- 1:04Speaker 6: She had knee replacement surgery.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Okay, oh's and those are well today? Is the technology
- 1:11Speaker 2: is amazing? Yep.
- 1:12Speaker 4: You're up and walking in the same basically within an
- 1:14Speaker 4: hour or two of the surgery.
- 1:15Speaker 6: Yeah. And she didn't have to stay in the hospital
- 1:18Speaker 6: for a long time. She's back home and getting around,
- 1:21Speaker 6: and I mean it's a long it's a long road
- 1:23Speaker 6: your recovery.
- 1:24Speaker 2: But she's takes a long time.
- 1:26Speaker 6: But she's got a nasty scar. Took the bandage.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Yeah, the scars are great.
- 1:30Speaker 4: The other well, although you can do it arthroscopically, I
- 1:33Speaker 4: don't know about nice replacement. You can do that arthroscopically, yeah,
- 1:36Speaker 4: probably not, but what ends up happening. I mean you
- 1:40Speaker 4: can do it outpatient. I think these days where you're
- 1:42Speaker 4: doing you replacement, which means you're not even overnight at
- 1:45Speaker 4: the hospital. Just go right in, Will, Good morning, Good
- 1:49Speaker 4: morning Bill. So you put your thumb into a light
- 1:51Speaker 4: socket clearly because there's your hair just frizzed.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Up all over the place. What are you talking about.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Okay, anna Costco shirt? I might ask, yes, Hey, so
- 2:00Speaker 4: let me ask you. Do they even have four XL
- 2:02Speaker 4: shirts at Costco?
- 2:04Speaker 5: Good morning, Bill. You've been wearing Costco for a long time. Bill,
- 2:09Speaker 5: Do look like you don't know?
- 2:12Speaker 2: That's true? I have been, although they're disappearing.
- 2:14Speaker 4: I told you my Costco shirts are quickly disappearing from
- 2:16Speaker 4: my closet.
- 2:19Speaker 5: In the military, they stripped you down of your of
- 2:22Speaker 5: your own personality. And they do that in cults too,
- 2:26Speaker 5: They take away your choices.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm in the colt, I'm in the Lindsay cult.
- 2:34Speaker 4: Yeah exactly.
- 2:35Speaker 2: All right. So Neil Gorning, good morning, and Cono.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Is there usual baseball hat? And uh there is Anne?
- 2:45Speaker 4: Good morning, Anne, Good morning Bill. Everybody's perky, perky, perky,
- 2:49Speaker 4: and uh, we're gonna, oh, you know, we have to
- 2:51Speaker 4: talk about the soccer game yesterday or yesterday. Before we
- 2:55Speaker 4: do that, I want to ask who watched? All right, Uh, Cono,
- 2:58Speaker 4: you watched it? Did you watch the soccer game?
- 3:02Speaker 5: No?
- 3:03Speaker 2: Okay, will did you watch it? Yeah? One of those
- 3:05Speaker 2: big outdoor watch parties in the street. Oh that's cool,
- 3:09Speaker 2: door to door. Amy, did you watch it? I did.
- 3:11Speaker 6: I watched in the airport and on the flight.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Ah, and then and did you watch it?
- 3:17Speaker 5: Yes?
- 3:17Speaker 2: I did.
- 3:18Speaker 4: I didn't miss I missed the the Uh they had won,
- 3:24Speaker 4: Spain had won. And then I, okay, I'm done watching.
- 3:27Speaker 4: And I understand the last part of it. As Anne
- 3:30Speaker 4: was saying, it was actually kind of neat too, with
- 3:32Speaker 4: messy crying, and I mean he was he was just
- 3:36Speaker 4: a messy when it was all over. That's so clever.
- 3:40Speaker 4: Oh okay, we started with mister clever at work. Also,
- 3:44Speaker 4: that halftime show, which they have never done before, was tremendous.
- 3:49Speaker 6: I thought, yeah, I thought it was great too.
- 3:51Speaker 4: That is a halftime show and that and for the
- 3:55Speaker 4: first time taking a well, first of all, they took
- 3:58Speaker 4: a page out of the Super Bowl with the halftime show.
- 4:01Speaker 4: They also took a page out of the US super
- 4:04Speaker 4: Bowl with rings. They now have created a championship ring,
- 4:08Speaker 4: which never happened before. But they actually hit you know,
- 4:11Speaker 4: that little tiny trophy that the World Cup Cup winner gets,
- 4:19Speaker 4: It doesn't seem very impressive. Now, the Stanley Cup. That
- 4:24Speaker 4: is an impressive piece of trophy. That's that what the
- 4:28Speaker 4: Stanley Cup. It's like it's given to the team keeps it. Yeah, yeah,
- 4:33Speaker 4: and they turn out and then they every team member
- 4:35Speaker 4: gets to take it home and they do things like,
- 4:36Speaker 4: you know, bathe their kids in it and use it
- 4:39Speaker 4: as a urinalal and serve it as a pipe.
- 4:43Speaker 5: I've had imis or out of the.
- 4:48Speaker 3: The Stanley Cup at a private party.
- 4:50Speaker 4: All right, let's let's do it, guys. It is a
- 4:53Speaker 4: Monday morning, July twentieth. Lot's going on. The war continues,
- 4:58Speaker 4: but uh, I would say relatively good news that happened yesterday,
- 5:02Speaker 4: especially from Ispana. You are happy campers. Time for handle
- 5:08Speaker 4: on the news, Amy Neil and me lead story. Well,
- 5:17Speaker 4: Spain did it over Argentina and it wasn't even close.
- 5:22Speaker 4: It was one zero, It should have been ten zero.
- 5:25Speaker 5: Didn't you say Argentina was gonna win?
- 5:27Speaker 4: Yep, Argentina was favored. Actually to wait, I think no,
- 5:30Speaker 4: Spain favored. I think Spain was favored as a stronger team.
- 5:33Speaker 4: But Argentina didn't even come to the table. I mean
- 5:36Speaker 4: they might as well have not shown up. How many
- 5:39Speaker 4: shots on goal? I think it turned out to be
- 5:42Speaker 4: what twelve thirteen?
- 5:43Speaker 2: Good? Two? No, that's for Argentina.
- 5:45Speaker 6: Argentina onl had two.
- 5:46Speaker 4: Right, and then when it was Spain had what thirteen
- 5:50Speaker 4: fourteen shots on goal? It was not even close and
- 5:54Speaker 4: they had totally Spain totally dominated the game. Messi basically
- 6:00Speaker 4: was on the field, but in the stands for the
- 6:02Speaker 4: most of the game he might as well have been,
- 6:05Speaker 4: I mean, completely irrelevant. I got I think he got
- 6:07Speaker 4: what two touches on the ball?
- 6:09Speaker 2: Nothing? And so it was I thought it was a
- 6:13Speaker 2: pretty exciting game.
- 6:15Speaker 5: Do you watch the.
- 6:16Speaker 6: Game on Saturday, the third place game between.
- 6:19Speaker 4: Yes, that was a riffic. That was a game. You
- 6:24Speaker 4: wish that was the final, but so I watched and
- 6:28Speaker 4: a lot of people. Then we'll do a story a
- 6:30Speaker 4: little bit later on about what the World Cup did
- 6:33Speaker 4: for the United States. It turned the US into a
- 6:37Speaker 4: soccer loving country. It was all upside, all upside for
- 6:42Speaker 4: soccer foot the ball in the US. Oh yes, one
- 6:47Speaker 4: zero in extra time and I don't even know how
- 6:51Speaker 4: Argentina could stay stave off Spain. The miracle is they
- 6:56Speaker 4: did it that long and it was only one zero.
- 7:03Speaker 6: New ceasfire possibility. The US and Iran are moving closer
- 7:07Speaker 6: to an all out conflict as they exchange attacks and
- 7:11Speaker 6: civilian and military structures. The attacks are escalating. At least three,
- 7:16Speaker 6: possibly four US service members have been killed since the
- 7:19Speaker 6: combat resumed a week ago. Last night, they carried out
- 7:23Speaker 6: another round of strikes in and then Iran fired back there,
- 7:26Speaker 6: firing at like Bahrain and Kuwait. This morning, we talked
- 7:30Speaker 6: to Jordana Miller in Jerusalem and they said that she's
- 7:33Speaker 6: said that mediators have put out a plan for a
- 7:36Speaker 6: ten day ceasefire, which could potentially calm things down a
- 7:40Speaker 6: little bit.
- 7:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't understand what's happening. There shouldn't be a
- 7:46Speaker 4: war at all here because Iran has been their military
- 7:52Speaker 4: has been decimated completely, where there's nothing left of their military.
- 7:56Speaker 4: There's nothing left of their drone capability or their missile capability.
- 8:00Speaker 4: The Strait of horror moves is open pursuant to the administration. Uh,
- 8:05Speaker 4: and let's not forget that we control everything, and so therefore,
- 8:13Speaker 4: you know, why do we even report on a war
- 8:15Speaker 4: that doesn't exist. There's nothing happening. Oh and let's not
- 8:21Speaker 4: forget regime change. That happened too, as the president has announced,
- 8:25Speaker 4: we have regime change, and they didn't take back any
- 8:27Speaker 4: of it. They did not take back any of it.
- 8:31Speaker 4: We still control the strait. The strait is still open.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Iran has no military capabilities. Regime change has been in effect.
- 8:41Speaker 4: Are they talking about the same thing?
- 8:44Speaker 5: They might know someone named regime Yeah, who has moved? Yeah,
- 8:50Speaker 5: you don't know. Yeah, all right, La was known for
- 8:54Speaker 5: its crack pipes. Cracked pipes.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Oh not strong, not bad, not bad. I pretty.
- 9:00Speaker 5: I do what I can for you. So not only
- 9:03Speaker 5: you've got a section of Sunset Boulevard remain closed Sunday,
- 9:06Speaker 5: and I know they've got at ton of people out
- 9:09Speaker 5: there working very hard to get that back up. And
- 9:12Speaker 5: this was all because of last Thursday, that big destructive
- 9:15Speaker 5: water main brink put a bunch one hundred and ten
- 9:18Speaker 5: year old pipe, put a bunch of water on the street,
- 9:21Speaker 5: in people's houses. And there's even you know, not only homes,
- 9:27Speaker 5: but there's restaurants and businesses that are closed indefinitely. It's
- 9:31Speaker 5: it's pretty horrible. But not only that, we had a
- 9:34Speaker 5: couple more, had a couple more not only West Hollywood
- 9:38Speaker 5: with those issues, but Venice and another in Hollywood. Some
- 9:43Speaker 5: have been repaired. There's one on Lincoln Boulevard that I
- 9:46Speaker 5: think happened Sunday morning. Crews are still working on. So
- 9:50Speaker 5: this is what happens when you have, you know, old
- 9:55Speaker 5: ass pipes that nobody has looked at. And it's way
- 9:58Speaker 5: more expensive for us to go back and try and
- 10:01Speaker 5: cram water back in the old ones instead of fixing
- 10:04Speaker 5: them the first time.
- 10:05Speaker 4: But what do you mean, Yeah, but the cost, the
- 10:07Speaker 4: cost of replacing those old pipes are just completely astronomical.
- 10:12Speaker 5: Yeah, but you know what's more expensive.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Doing that's happening now?
- 10:15Speaker 4: They should combine everything that what they should do is
- 10:19Speaker 4: re route those pipes, keep those pipes open, no water
- 10:22Speaker 4: going through, put homeless people into those pipes, use them
- 10:25Speaker 4: for housing, and you've got to just the triple threat
- 10:29Speaker 4: is done.
- 10:31Speaker 5: Plug them with the homeless. Yes, yeah, Bill handle for mayor,
- 10:37Speaker 5: ladies and gentlemen.
- 10:38Speaker 6: Maybe background checks need to be beefed up. An ICE
- 10:43Speaker 6: agent connected to the fatal shooting of that man in
- 10:47Speaker 6: Maine once told a court that he had lingering cognitive
- 10:51Speaker 6: issues after he got a serious head injury. David Bruyette
- 10:56Speaker 6: said that the head injury results of from a steel
- 11:01Speaker 6: eyebeam falling on his head, and it was so debilitating
- 11:05Speaker 6: he couldn't get through a firefighting training course. He was
- 11:07Speaker 6: still feeling the effects years later. This information came out
- 11:11Speaker 6: when he filed a lawsuit in twenty twenty three against
- 11:15Speaker 6: the main community college system, saying he was significantly impaired
- 11:19Speaker 6: in his activities and is daily living. And then two
- 11:21Speaker 6: years later he's working as an ICE officer and he
- 11:26Speaker 6: was among the officers on scene in Biddeford, Maine after
- 11:29Speaker 6: that fatal ICE shooting on Monday. Not clear if he's
- 11:32Speaker 6: the guy who did the shooting, but he was there.
- 11:34Speaker 4: Well, you would think that being hired by a federal agency,
- 11:38Speaker 4: they would do a just a minor background check, cursory
- 11:42Speaker 4: background check. In this case, it was a lawsuit filed
- 11:46Speaker 4: and there was my brain is fried.
- 11:50Speaker 2: And he also was.
- 11:52Speaker 4: When he went into interview in him taking a page
- 11:54Speaker 4: out of the Wizard of Oz. If I only had
- 11:57Speaker 4: a brain, that it would have been a problem he
- 11:59Speaker 4: should have.
- 12:02Speaker 5: And then they said that ham a gun and a badge.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Yeah, that's it's only had a brain in Maine and
- 12:07Speaker 4: it rained on.
- 12:08Speaker 5: On the plane.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, it's nice.
- 12:12Speaker 5: You know, it helps things when you just don't investigate
- 12:16Speaker 5: them and you don't deal with all those clumsy facts.
- 12:20Speaker 5: Federal agents around the country were told, apparently in some
- 12:24Speaker 5: sort of memo, that the FBI would no longer investigate
- 12:29Speaker 5: confrontations with immigration agents, so cases that sometimes yield evidence
- 12:35Speaker 5: that could be used to prosecute Department of Homeland Security
- 12:39Speaker 5: agents implicated and violent encounters. This is according to people
- 12:44Speaker 5: briefed on the decision. So FBI managers around the country
- 12:49Speaker 5: received this written notice informing them of the change on Thursday,
- 12:54Speaker 5: and the people that kind of leaked this information did
- 12:59Speaker 5: it under the condition of anonymity, and some the same day,
- 13:05Speaker 5: ice agents around the country were notified.
- 13:08Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean, I think what's happening is the.
- 13:12Speaker 4: Investigation of federal agents is going to be limited. Let's
- 13:16Speaker 4: investigate them less during the course of these shootings or
- 13:20Speaker 4: any other kind of altercation like this. Yeah, well that's
- 13:25Speaker 4: the way we're going right now. At least some good news.
- 13:29Speaker 4: Diarrhea lettuce, well it's really not so.
- 13:34Speaker 6: You know that cyclospora that's made like sixteen hundred people
- 13:37Speaker 6: sick and they're having cases of explosive diarrhea. Well they
- 13:44Speaker 6: did a test on Taylor Farms lettuce and it turned
- 13:50Speaker 6: up positive for cyclospora. So we got the source right. Well,
- 13:53Speaker 6: not so quick because subsequent testing has found no evidence
- 13:57Speaker 6: of cyclospora. Still, Taylor Farms has recalled Iceberg lettuce source
- 14:04Speaker 6: from Central Mexico and removed all lettuce from US markets,
- 14:08Speaker 6: including apparently Taco Bell.
- 14:10Speaker 2: It's surprising or not surprising.
- 14:12Speaker 4: Neil will tell you how much of our produce comes
- 14:15Speaker 4: from Mexico, and it is a lot.
- 14:20Speaker 5: Yeah, considering that here in California we have some we
- 14:24Speaker 5: have pretty much more fertile land than most when it
- 14:29Speaker 5: comes to being able to grow crops right here. You'd
- 14:32Speaker 5: think we'd be our own supplier, but part of the system.
- 14:37Speaker 5: I suppose, all right, California passes. I love this. This
- 14:41Speaker 5: shows you the keen stupidity of politicians. So got high
- 14:47Speaker 5: temperatures going everywhere, right, some parts of California being baked
- 14:51Speaker 5: by those triple digits. Well, last week Gov. Gav knew
- 14:55Speaker 5: Some signed a law that will require very hard stance.
- 14:58Speaker 5: Here the State Board Education to consider teaching students about
- 15:02Speaker 5: the symptoms of heat illness in school. Now he signed
- 15:09Speaker 5: another one with a key deadline for this month, requires
- 15:12Speaker 5: school to come up with rules for outdoor activities when
- 15:16Speaker 5: there are extreme weather events like heat wave. All great,
- 15:20Speaker 5: these are low costs, don't cost anything really. However, experts
- 15:26Speaker 5: are going, hey, you know, if you really want to
- 15:29Speaker 5: make them safer, why don't you get them AC update
- 15:34Speaker 5: the AC that there's that they have shade structure and
- 15:40Speaker 5: funded health curriculum. Yeah, so I'm just to cast a
- 15:44Speaker 5: law that says you've got to teach them that heat
- 15:47Speaker 5: is hot.
- 15:48Speaker 4: Right now, there is one aspect of this that I
- 15:52Speaker 4: don't know if you have to teach kids because you've
- 15:55Speaker 4: got you know, teachers, I assume in adults around. But
- 15:58Speaker 4: one of the things about eat stroke, for example, is
- 16:01Speaker 4: that you stop sweating, and when it is though, I
- 16:07Speaker 4: mean you, that can lead very quickly to some very
- 16:10Speaker 4: serious consequences. But you're right. The bottom line is during
- 16:14Speaker 4: heat spells, it is hot outside. And so you know,
- 16:18Speaker 4: there you go.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Thank you. Oh an Amy story.
- 16:23Speaker 6: Yeah, So we have a Big Bear bald eagle update. Uh.
- 16:27Speaker 6: Social media has been buzzing because there is an eagle
- 16:32Speaker 6: in Big Bear that has been rescued by a wildlife
- 16:35Speaker 6: rescue group and everybody who's wondering who it is, they
- 16:39Speaker 6: do think it's Jackie. If Jackie and Shadow, the Big
- 16:42Speaker 6: Bear bald eagles that we've been following for a couple
- 16:44Speaker 6: of years and they have got their kids, Sandy and Luna.
- 16:47Speaker 6: They say that they don't know definitively that it's Jackie,
- 16:50Speaker 6: but they think it's probably her. They say that she
- 16:54Speaker 6: was seen on the ground near Dana Point Park. There's
- 16:56Speaker 6: lots of pictures on social media Thursday and Friday, and
- 16:59Speaker 6: then while on the ground, she was seen in a
- 17:02Speaker 6: fight with two subadult eagles. Because there's lots of eagles
- 17:06Speaker 6: flying around and Jackie in Shadow protect the nest area
- 17:09Speaker 6: so that Luna and Sandy can learn how to fish
- 17:12Speaker 6: and hunt all that kind of thing. So she apparently
- 17:16Speaker 6: was able to fight them off, but then she couldn't
- 17:20Speaker 6: fly away. So now again we don't know for sure
- 17:23Speaker 6: that it's Jackie, but they think it's Jackie. And she's
- 17:26Speaker 6: been taken in by la Keunty Parks and Recreation. Sandymus
- 17:30Speaker 6: wrapped her rescue and it's being cared for.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Oh, she's at a rehab center.
- 17:33Speaker 6: She is at a rehab center, so hopefully they'll get
- 17:36Speaker 6: her back and she'll be okay. We don't know yet.
- 17:40Speaker 6: We don't know how bad she may have been injured,
- 17:42Speaker 6: but they've got her.
- 17:43Speaker 3: That park is not far from the nest.
- 17:47Speaker 6: No, it's in fawn skin and that's where the nest is.
- 17:50Speaker 4: And look at the irony here you go to the
- 17:53Speaker 4: eagles go to rehab and are no longer flying. People
- 17:57Speaker 4: like me went into rehab because.
- 17:59Speaker 3: We were flying, all right.
- 18:02Speaker 5: For the first time to a sitting vice president more
- 18:06Speaker 5: than one hundred and fifty years. A baby is born, JD.
- 18:11Speaker 5: Vance And how do you say his wife's names? Usha?
- 18:16Speaker 5: Usha Usha, pretty lady. They welcome to baby boy born
- 18:22Speaker 5: Sunday Alec Neil vance to ease, and that Neil, by
- 18:26Speaker 5: the way, joins the other siblings. You've got Ewan, Ewan nine,
- 18:32Speaker 5: Vivic six, and Marabelle four.
- 18:38Speaker 4: I wonder I think they're being raised a Catholic. What's
- 18:41Speaker 4: interesting is she is Muslim, I believe, and he is
- 18:46Speaker 4: of course, has converted to Catholicism. And he had said
- 18:50Speaker 4: that she is going to be Catholic, although she never
- 18:53Speaker 4: said a word about that. So that is I think
- 18:56Speaker 4: that's disappeared. She's in She's Hindu, right, I think she
- 19:01Speaker 4: is Hindu. You're right, I think she is Hindu.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:04Speaker 4: And so he has a picture of Jesus. She has
- 19:06Speaker 4: a picture of an elephant with eight arms right next
- 19:09Speaker 4: to I am and at all. It's a very interesting
- 19:11Speaker 4: religious concept when you go to their house.
- 19:15Speaker 6: Homer's a hit. The Odyssey is off to an epic
- 19:19Speaker 6: start at the box office. It brought in one hundred
- 19:22Speaker 6: and twenty four point five million dollars domestically and globally.
- 19:26Speaker 6: The total is two hundred and sixty four point one
- 19:28Speaker 6: million in its opening weekend, which is a big deal
- 19:32Speaker 6: because it's more than or. It's almost three hours long
- 19:34Speaker 6: and it's not part of a major franchise.
- 19:37Speaker 4: Yeah, it's gonna be pretty terrific. I mean the no,
- 19:40Speaker 4: we can't get tickets. I want to go and watch
- 19:42Speaker 4: it in imax. And if you read about or watch
- 19:46Speaker 4: videos about this film Christopher Nolan, who is a director,
- 19:50Speaker 4: it's the first film that has been filmed entirely in
- 19:53Speaker 4: seventy milimeter and it is even the backstory is fascinating.
- 19:58Speaker 4: In the meantime, it's supposed to be absolute incredible.
- 20:02Speaker 5: You heard what those seventy millimeter cameras sound like. They
- 20:07Speaker 5: can't use the audio.
- 20:09Speaker 2: They're neither. They're loud.
- 20:10Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, they are loud. It's really really weird.
- 20:15Speaker 5: I don't know. I'm an iliad guy. I you know,
- 20:18Speaker 5: I thought they should have put the iliad out first.
- 20:20Speaker 5: But that's me.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Hello, Yeah, i know I'm wrong.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Just listening, Okay, all right, Disneyland.
- 20:27Speaker 5: Everybody talks about them raising prices on tickets. Well, now
- 20:32Speaker 5: it is as it normally is. In July is usually
- 20:35Speaker 5: when they raise the prices of food. But they've got
- 20:37Speaker 5: a per item increase range anywhere between one point five
- 20:41Speaker 5: and twenty three percent, and a lot of these are yes,
- 20:46Speaker 5: there's like eight hundred items across one hundred and seventy
- 20:49Speaker 5: eight dining locations there Disneyland at Disney California Adventure. The
- 20:54Speaker 5: price achs hikes are really going to hit on some
- 20:57Speaker 5: of the most popular things churros, foodles, popcorn, caramel popcorn,
- 21:05Speaker 5: even seventy cent increase on vanilla soft served, so you're
- 21:09Speaker 5: getting fifty cent increases on some things here. Some things
- 21:12Speaker 5: get a buck, like pizza slices and a three pack
- 21:15Speaker 5: of beignets or what I like to call them begnet.
- 21:20Speaker 4: No bignets are. They do a fabulous job with bignets.
- 21:22Speaker 4: I mean, some of the best out there are best
- 21:24Speaker 4: out of Old Orleans. But it's sent Yeah, I mean
- 21:27Speaker 4: the one point five is a percent isn't bad, but
- 21:30Speaker 4: twenty three percent it's expensive. You know, Disneyland has become
- 21:33Speaker 4: an explosive, expensive place to eat. Although the food is
- 21:37Speaker 4: certainly better than it was twenty years ago, wasn't a
- 21:40Speaker 4: huge phenomenal.
- 21:41Speaker 5: Very very good. They've tuned it up big time.
- 21:45Speaker 6: Got a whale of a rescue going on twenty eight.
- 21:48Speaker 6: Beluga whales are going to be relocated from a theme
- 21:53Speaker 6: park in Canada that's shut down in twenty twenty four.
- 21:57Speaker 6: They're being sent to aquariums across the US and might
- 22:01Speaker 6: even go to Spain for a couple of them. So
- 22:05Speaker 6: the Marine land closed down but held on to the whales,
- 22:10Speaker 6: and now it says it can't continue to care for them,
- 22:12Speaker 6: and he even was talking about euthanizing them. But some
- 22:17Speaker 6: other places have stepped up and stepped forward and they're
- 22:20Speaker 6: going to take them. So SeaWorld, San Antonio and San
- 22:22Speaker 6: Diego are getting some of them. The Georgia Aquarium, the
- 22:25Speaker 6: Shed Aquarium in Chicago are all getting some of them.
- 22:28Speaker 6: So twenty eight beluga whales are getting a new home
- 22:31Speaker 6: and have a new lease on life.
- 22:33Speaker 4: Yeah, Belugas are just great. They have that great smile
- 22:37Speaker 4: and they are.
- 22:39Speaker 5: Very neat whales wonderful conversationalist, good dancers.
- 22:43Speaker 4: Good dancers, very tasty when barbecued correctly. I have had whale,
- 22:49Speaker 4: and it is you have to. It's very hard to
- 22:51Speaker 4: cook whale well. I will do a whale to eat.
- 22:56Speaker 4: It's like fat. There's no fat well outside. You don't
- 23:01Speaker 4: eat the blubber. That's the whole point. The blubber is
- 23:04Speaker 4: all on the outside, so the meat itself has virtually
- 23:08Speaker 4: no fat, which is why it's so difficult to cook,
- 23:11Speaker 4: because in one millisecond you overcook it.
- 23:15Speaker 2: It's like ostrich meat, very difficult to cook. Well, I
- 23:17Speaker 2: mean it's whale.
- 23:19Speaker 4: You eat whale in Norway. You eat whale at my
- 23:22Speaker 4: house when we can sneak some in. There's ue whale
- 23:26Speaker 4: in Japan. You eat whale in Norway because they never
- 23:29Speaker 4: sign on the International Whaling Agreement. You know, every country
- 23:33Speaker 4: in the world is sign on to whaling agreements, even Uruguay,
- 23:37Speaker 4: which is completely landlocked, but certainly not Norway or Japan. Anyway,
- 23:43Speaker 4: Moving on.
- 23:44Speaker 5: Well, everybody screams for ice cream, especially now, and it's
- 23:47Speaker 5: the one thing that is falling in price. Butterfat is
- 23:51Speaker 5: actually bringing the relief that we are seeing now monetarily,
- 23:55Speaker 5: so summer heats going up. The average price of a
- 23:59Speaker 5: half gallon of ice cream in the container in the
- 24:02Speaker 5: US is below six dollars last month, same time last year,
- 24:09Speaker 5: averaged around the past two years, actually averaged around six
- 24:13Speaker 5: twenty six per container.
- 24:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I've always a confused butter and butter fat because
- 24:19Speaker 4: when you look at a cube of butter, it's one
- 24:22Speaker 4: hundred percent butterfat. And I always thought that butter and
- 24:25Speaker 4: butterfat were one and the same thing. I guess they're not,
- 24:28Speaker 4: are they?
- 24:28Speaker 5: Oh you can separate them. Yeah, that's what like if
- 24:32Speaker 5: you have gh that's removed, it's clarified butter, and you're
- 24:36Speaker 5: removing the butterfat from the butter. Got it.
- 24:39Speaker 3: You're a gee? I am no, I was talking to cono.
- 24:43Speaker 6: Oh, dummy, A penny for your thoughts, maybe all it's worth.
- 24:52Speaker 6: Eight months ago, the US minted its last penny. The
- 24:57Speaker 6: Common Sense Act formally ends the reduction of the penny,
- 25:01Speaker 6: and it also is supposed to address how retailers are
- 25:05Speaker 6: going to give you change because they can't give you
- 25:08Speaker 6: pennies back or they won't be able to once the
- 25:10Speaker 6: pennies get out of circulation. And a lot of retailers
- 25:13Speaker 6: are having problems with it because if they round up
- 25:16Speaker 6: then people might sue them, and so they're trying to figure.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Out how to pay me I was supposed to get.
- 25:23Speaker 2: I paid for something.
- 25:24Speaker 4: I was supposed to get eighteen dollars and two cents change,
- 25:28Speaker 4: and I got eighteen dollars and a nickel back. Oh
- 25:32Speaker 4: yeah that was that was a windfall and going, hmmm,
- 25:36Speaker 4: penny issue. So you're right, it's going to be a
- 25:39Speaker 4: big problem. And the easiest way of doing it is
- 25:42Speaker 4: you figure out at tax and tell me.
- 25:44Speaker 2: There's no algorithms to do this. You have a.
- 25:46Speaker 4: Product for sale, it is priced at exactly where it
- 25:51Speaker 4: would turn out to be with no pennies.
- 25:55Speaker 2: So that works. That's an easy way of doing it.
- 26:00Speaker 5: All right, Do you want to finish with this?
- 26:02Speaker 4: No?
- 26:02Speaker 5: No, go, Yeah, let's finish with it, all right, So
- 26:05Speaker 5: let's brew it in the United States, so says the teamsters.
- 26:08Speaker 5: They're targeting Mexican beers like Modello, which is a fantastic
- 26:12Speaker 5: beer by the way, Corona, but they are pushing to
- 26:18Speaker 5: get these Mexican made beers here in the United States.
- 26:22Speaker 5: So not only does Trump want these tariffs, but now teamsters.
- 26:29Speaker 4: Oh yeah, they want labor. Why is it in Mexico
- 26:32Speaker 4: because of the Mexican beer. I guess you can have
- 26:35Speaker 4: Mexican beer in the United States. I think has a
- 26:38Speaker 4: plant in the US.
- 26:40Speaker 5: Well, yeah, you're you're just doing the recipe, yeah, pretty much.
- 26:46Speaker 2: All right, I think we're done. Guys, Do we have
- 26:48Speaker 2: one more left?
- 26:48Speaker 4: Nah?
- 26:50Speaker 2: We don't. Yeah.
- 26:51Speaker 4: Real quickly, California forest service workers were taking hostage. They
- 26:54Speaker 4: were held they were released, so CA camping was over. Okay,
- 26:58Speaker 4: so much for the news, lesip one coming up, the
- 27:03Speaker 4: economic boost of the World Cup Games. At first it
- 27:10Speaker 4: was now we're not doing so well. Boy, what a comeback.
- 27:13Speaker 4: We'll be back with that KFI AM six point forty.
