- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up.
- 0:00Speaker 2: I'm Britain from wage War.
- 0:02Speaker 3: I'm Cody from wage War and yeah we're we're coming
- 0:05Speaker 3: to Australia.
- 0:06Speaker 4: Fantastic guys, thanks for joining us, Thanks for us No
- 0:11Speaker 4: all right, So as you say, guys, wage War returned
- 0:13Speaker 4: to Australia very soon for a run of dates, starting
- 0:16Speaker 4: in Perth on July the thirtieth, then hitting Adelaide, Melbourne
- 0:19Speaker 4: and Brisbane for finishing in Sydney on August the seventh.
- 0:22Speaker 4: Not long now he's packed and ready to go.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I haven't blacked my bags yet, but that's close.
- 0:29Speaker 3: We still got about two weeks.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Yeah, you guys right out of here. Not only but
- 0:36Speaker 4: he's around here last week, not fest in twenty twenty fourth.
- 0:38Speaker 4: So what's changed with the bands since then?
- 0:44Speaker 3: Wept and a record. Yeah, we only had like one
- 0:48Speaker 3: song out from the last record last time we were
- 0:50Speaker 3: in Australia, so we've got about it'll be about fifteen
- 0:54Speaker 3: sixteen new songs that we've never played over there.
- 0:57Speaker 2: So yeah, we got a lot of got a lot
- 0:59Speaker 2: of round the makeup.
- 1:01Speaker 4: Yeah nice and the trolls selling really well guys. With
- 1:04Speaker 4: the Melbourne venue having to be upgraded to the floor
- 1:06Speaker 4: and duty demand. So what do you think it is
- 1:09Speaker 4: about the connection between wage war and Australian metal heads
- 1:12Speaker 4: that keeps the bond just growing and growing. I don't know.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Maybe it's maybe it's the Florida in US where we
- 1:20Speaker 2: got alligators and snakes and stuff. I mean, maybe that's
- 1:24Speaker 2: the connection.
- 1:28Speaker 4: I've noticed too that the Adelaide and Sydney shows were
- 1:30Speaker 4: all ages guys, which was indorp them, Like, you don't
- 1:33Speaker 4: see enough of them these days, do you.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I don't know, is that not a thing over there? Not?
- 1:40Speaker 4: It used to be huge over here, but recently, like
- 1:42Speaker 4: the last probably ten years, has been stuff all of them,
- 1:45Speaker 4: which sucks.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Oh really Yeah, I mean we're trying to do all
- 1:49Speaker 3: ages as much as possible. M Yeah, that would be uh,
- 1:53Speaker 3: that would be important to us for sure. But yeah,
- 1:55Speaker 3: we definitely wage wars for the whole family. Nice your
- 1:59Speaker 3: own at your own risk.
- 2:01Speaker 4: I'm gonna say, do you have to change change your
- 2:04Speaker 4: chine or you set list at all well the all
- 2:06Speaker 4: ages or they just get what what the adults get? Yeah?
- 2:10Speaker 3: Pretty straightforward?
- 2:11Speaker 4: So nice? And are you going to be bringing your
- 2:15Speaker 4: full North American stage production over for the dates? So
- 2:18Speaker 4: you're gonna have to bring a scale down version. Uh.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Yeah, we're not gonna be able to bring the bait
- 2:25Speaker 3: Shack over the season. Fortunately. I don't even think it
- 2:29Speaker 3: would fit in a lot of these venues, but we'll
- 2:31Speaker 3: have something, for sure. We're making the best do with
- 2:33Speaker 3: what we got. But yeah, well we're bringing the best
- 2:36Speaker 3: show we can. Yeah.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Nice, nice, And you're also bringing Orthodox in Heaven's Gate
- 2:41Speaker 4: on this run. Mate. So for the heavy readers who
- 2:43Speaker 4: were hitting the floor early, like, what do you think
- 2:45Speaker 4: these two bands bring to the table to set the change.
- 2:48Speaker 3: For the night.
- 2:49Speaker 2: I mean, they're definitely gonna wake people up and put
- 2:52Speaker 2: some energy in the building for sure. Both those bands
- 2:54Speaker 2: are very high energy and heavy, and I think it's
- 2:57Speaker 2: gonna be very fun playing with those two bands.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Yeah, you guys released to a light of DP it
- 3:03Speaker 4: called Me by Name only a couple of months ago,
- 3:05Speaker 4: so that was the early reception for that.
- 3:09Speaker 3: It's been great. Yeah, it's been what maybe one maybe
- 3:13Speaker 3: one of our most positive releases in years. Honestly, it's
- 3:16Speaker 3: nice to see everyone kind of aligned on on the
- 3:19Speaker 3: music and loving the songs and streaming it. So yeah,
- 3:23Speaker 3: it feels good.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Yes, sweet, and you gonna have to help me out
- 3:29Speaker 4: of videogo as because what the press release called the
- 3:31Speaker 4: EP a collection of song shape by Florida, the Swamp
- 3:35Speaker 4: and the Relentless Aggression of Nature. But that sounds beautiful.
- 3:38Speaker 4: What the fuck does it mean?
- 3:44Speaker 3: I mean, I think for us, like you know, when
- 3:46Speaker 3: it came time to do you know, new music, like
- 3:49Speaker 3: it didn't start out as an album. It just kind
- 3:51Speaker 3: of started out as working on songs and you know,
- 3:55Speaker 3: we just kind of wanted to get something out sooner
- 3:56Speaker 3: than later. And if you know, those five songs that
- 3:59Speaker 3: we picked all just kind of raised their hand, is
- 4:02Speaker 3: feeling true to like where we're at in the current
- 4:04Speaker 3: state of wage war. Like Sonically, you know, it's a
- 4:07Speaker 3: good mix of heavy, melodic and you know kind of
- 4:10Speaker 3: all the things that we do.
- 4:12Speaker 1: And then when we were looking around at how we wanted,
- 4:14Speaker 1: what we wanted to call it, how we wanted to
- 4:16Speaker 1: brand it, like all of those things, we just decided
- 4:19Speaker 1: to I know this sounds lame, but like kind of
- 4:21Speaker 1: look within ourselves and just be who we are, you
- 4:23Speaker 1: know what I mean.
- 4:24Speaker 3: We didn't want to do anything insincere. We're not a
- 4:27Speaker 3: gimmick band, you know what I mean, Like we just
- 4:29Speaker 3: wanted to do our thing, and you know our thing
- 4:32Speaker 3: is we're a metal band from Florida. So we said,
- 4:35Speaker 3: all right, cool, let's make it the most metal and
- 4:37Speaker 3: the most band from Florida we possibly can. And that's
- 4:39Speaker 3: how we got the ephes.
- 4:42Speaker 4: But there are any songs about because you would have
- 4:43Speaker 4: been playing them live? Hy noways are any songs that
- 4:46Speaker 4: went down better than you thought they would live or
- 4:48Speaker 4: any that sort of maybe didn't go down as well
- 4:50Speaker 4: as you thought they would.
- 4:54Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, I'll do pretty great.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Karma does really good live.
- 4:57Speaker 3: I feel like, yeah, but yeah, I mean really they
- 5:00Speaker 3: I'll do great.
- 5:02Speaker 4: Yeah, And so bringing your vocals and stay consistently punishment
- 5:08Speaker 4: over the years, Cody your clatan's chorus to give the
- 5:11Speaker 4: songs matthive breathing room. So when you're writing, like how
- 5:14Speaker 4: do you decide where the brutality ends and the melody
- 5:17Speaker 4: takes over?
- 5:21Speaker 2: I think, go ahead, Cody, Yeah, go ahead, Bret Oh.
- 5:25Speaker 2: I mean we just try to like feel like what
- 5:28Speaker 2: the mood of the song and like what the song
- 5:30Speaker 2: structure kind of brings to the table. I mean, obviously
- 5:32Speaker 2: I'm not going to be screaming over like a more
- 5:35Speaker 2: chorus for progression things like that. So you just kind
- 5:39Speaker 2: of like bring what the song absolutely needs into certain parts.
- 5:44Speaker 2: And Cody's very good at like figuring that out.
- 5:48Speaker 4: Is it easy to do because like someone from outside
- 5:51Speaker 4: of a musical background, you listen to about and it
- 5:53Speaker 4: sounds like it's got to be so prethised.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I think you know the songs can
- 6:00Speaker 1: you can kind of tell where songs are.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Going off, you know, first inklings. You know, sometimes it's like,
- 6:05Speaker 3: I'm not going to try to force myself into a song.
- 6:08Speaker 3: You know, that's an ass beater. And you know, I'm
- 6:11Speaker 3: also not going to try to force a breakdown into
- 6:14Speaker 3: a song that just doesn't need it, you know what
- 6:16Speaker 3: I mean. And not that I haven't made those mistakes
- 6:18Speaker 3: before in the past of forcing things in a song,
- 6:20Speaker 3: but I think I'm more I think I'm more aware
- 6:24Speaker 3: than ever of just letting the song lead, you know
- 6:27Speaker 3: what I mean. And I think that's how you get
- 6:28Speaker 3: the most natural you know, whether it's a Britain part
- 6:31Speaker 3: or a Me part. You know, did those things just
- 6:34Speaker 3: kind of fall together?
- 6:35Speaker 4: And now die is remember the first time you heard
- 6:38Speaker 4: about of the songs played on the radio, what song
- 6:41Speaker 4: was it? And way way.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Uh, the first time I heard Circle of the Drain.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Right, yeah, I heard I heard Prison on odd serious
- 6:54Speaker 3: XM Octane was the first time I remember hearing our
- 6:56Speaker 3: band on the radio.
- 6:57Speaker 2: And that was I I.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Remember pulling up to my drive in my driveway here
- 7:03Speaker 3: in Tennessee and like sitting in my car and just
- 7:05Speaker 3: freaking out and videoing it. And then for like f
- 7:08Speaker 3: M radio. Yeah, Circle with Dream of Him first, and
- 7:12Speaker 3: I think I heard that. I don't remember hearing that
- 7:17Speaker 3: on the radio. I think Magnetic was the first one
- 7:19Speaker 3: I ever heard on the radio. Right cool.
- 7:24Speaker 4: You guys, got any messages for Australian fans before you
- 7:26Speaker 4: come out? Yeah?
- 7:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, tickets are getting low. If you're thinking about
- 7:30Speaker 2: coming out, you should. We're going to be playing a
- 7:31Speaker 2: longer set list and probably everything off the EP, so
- 7:35Speaker 2: get your tickets.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Get there.
- 7:36Speaker 2: We'll have fun, I mean orthodox and having having skates
- 7:39Speaker 2: playing with us, so it's gonna be a good time.
- 7:42Speaker 4: Manchas it. Guys, all right, we'll take care cho and
- 7:44Speaker 4: I made it. Enjoy yourself with your Ebria.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Thank you, thank you so much.
