- 0:10What does the nanny do? OK, so we're done.
- 0:13Goodbye. You shut it off.
- 0:17Do not twist my words. Do not make me a victim.
- 0:20Sweetie. Just look at the mountain.
- 0:22That's what you. Saw that day just the knife in
- 0:26the kidneys over all these years
- 0:31to love you. She's back.
- 0:52Kollene with AKA resident fashion expert, beauty expert,
- 0:58model extraordinaire. Girl with an opinion.
- 1:02Girl with amazing eyeshadow. Girl with an experience girl
- 1:08that you have said may or may not have looked like you, may or
- 1:11may have not looked at a time or
- 1:13For sure, I keep getting flashbacks to my yesteryear.
- 1:18It's not hard for me to connect those dots.
- 1:20I can see it. I can see it.
- 1:21Short blonde hair that was out
- 1:24Looks a little ridiculous. I wasn't as good as her at
- 1:29eyeshadow, but you know, I wish I would have been.
- 1:33She's definitely made some statements with her mouth and
- 1:36with her appearance, and we've
- 1:39statements and now we're going
- 1:42She has returned in Season 6 episode 9 of Sister Wives called
- 1:47Sister Wives on the ropes. Oh, La La.
- 1:52Now we'll get into why these sister wives are on the ropes,
- 1:54but I think Kimber, you might want to talk about some
- 1:57previously on. You've been feeling the
- 1:59previously on and the coming up on vibes recently.
- 2:02We had a flashback of previously
- 2:08Kollene where they were doing charity work for Holding Out
- 2:12Hope. Reminder to you guys, they were
- 2:16helping families that were escaping polygamy basically from
- 2:25obviously. So they're going to remind us
- 2:28who Kollene is in this flashback and then we get the next on.
- 2:33A collection of clips from the upcoming panel of which the
- 2:38Browns are going to do pro polygamy.
- 2:41Anti polygamy is how they're teeing it up.
- 2:44And I guess that is where we end up landing.
- 2:46But well, we'll get you all there.
- 2:49We're going to go on a journey. Then we just all of a sudden
- 2:54hear ominous music. I don't know if it was ominous
- 3:06And we get something that I don't think we've seen on this
- 3:15Yeah. They don't say at UNLV.
- 3:18That's revealed later, but I'm letting you guys all know now.
- 3:25I feel like it is our first episode where it's probably more
- 3:32with something and then it's two days earlier.
- 3:34Like we get back to the beginning.
- 3:36Now. We don't get any real dirt in
- 3:38this opening with the clips from the upcoming panel.
- 3:40They're just showing us a few things that we've pretty much
- 3:43already seen last week. What's telling us about what's
- 3:50there's going to be drama. Leading up to the drama two days
- 4:01Truly's heading over to Robyn's to play with the other children
- 4:06and the family. Yes.
- 4:08And I don't know if this is a setup or if it's an honest thing
- 4:20they thought they would. I do feel like one of the
- 4:23parents, whoever was in the shot, probably Christine, I
- 4:25guess, was saying like call Robyn and let her know that
- 4:27she's on the way. And it's like, well, that
- 4:28doesn't really fit with the vibes of just going door to
- 4:31door, although truly is a little scrumptious.
- 4:32She's just a little scrumptious. Scrumptious.
- 4:34So, you know, safety first, safety first.
- 4:37Kody tells us that this week their family is participating in
- 4:45Fundamentally very interesting, Kody.
- 4:49We're on the couch and everybody's talking about their
- 4:51nerves and we find out that there are going to be 4
- 4:56panelists on the anti side and then Christine says there's one
- 5:01of them. Yeah, one versus 4.
- 5:04Meaning the whole of the family as a one.
- 5:08Yeah, yeah. The together polygamists versus
- 5:11the four anti polygamists. And some of the wives take issue
- 5:18Yeah, it's pointed out to her that they're actually 5 because
- 5:21there's four wives and a husband.
- 5:23So there's actually five of them versus 4:00 on the other side,
- 5:29I kind of understand where Christine is coming from here
- 5:33because she means four people. Five people with the same story
- 5:38versus 4 with different stories.
- 5:40Yeah, so she probably means here.
- 5:43It would be nice to have some other support from an external
- 5:48family. Well that makes sense.
- 5:50Also, I just assumed that Christine was always really bad
- 5:52at math. I mean, wow, jumping to
- 5:54conclusions here. Jumping to conclusions.
- 5:57Christine shares that she told
- 6:00wants to go because Christine is
- 6:04be there to support her mother.
- 6:05And this is where Christine kind of lets it slip that it's at
- 6:08UNLV. So at the beginning we didn't
- 6:10know that, but then it is just casually mentioned and it's
- 6:13like, oh, you're just in town at the university.
- 6:15I think that they were trying to make it seem like a bigger deal
- 6:19than it is at the beginning. Yeah.
- 6:21And then we find out it's at UNLV.
- 6:23And Aspen is pretty cute here because Aspen's like, I want to
- 6:29find out more from the other side.
- 6:32Aspen was with when they did their initial Holding Out Hope
- 6:38And so Aspen is probably a little excited to see Kollene
- 6:43again. Yeah.
- 6:44Maybe. And also why not go with Aspen's
- 7:00together. She does.
- 7:01There might just be some potential drama to witness.
- 7:04So as a teenager, I would have been like, Oh yes, I want to
- 7:07support you, mother dearest. And I know there's going to be
- 7:10I love how Christine's kids are always so supportive of her and
- 7:14they show it repeatedly. We had maybe even just a couple
- 7:19episodes ago with the Q&A where the little girls were talking
- 7:23about how great she was at cooking and then how bad she was
- 7:30And I feel like her kids just seem like they love her so much.
- 7:36and it's good to see it. Well, Christine thinks that this
- 7:40panel is going to end up being
- 7:43Janelle thinks it'll be a personal experience versus
- 7:46personal experience, which is of
- 7:49says, she says these. Things.
- 7:52And that their experiences may
- 7:54experiences. It's like, OK, so are we just
- 7:57literally describing what a panel discussion would be at
- 7:59this point between oppositions?
- 8:01This is very Robyn coated. The explaining of what's about
- 8:10Oh God.
- 8:12Now Christine gives us an update
- 8:15and she references this panel member as my mother's sister,
- 8:19which I thought was interesting because your mom's sister
- 8:23would be your aunt if you were going to just refer to them in
- 8:27the layman's terms. But her mother's sister, named
- 8:31Kristen Decker, will be there.
- 8:35It was an odd choice of words.
- 8:38call her her aunt, which she has
- 8:41She's talked about an aunt that is against polygamy, but now
- 8:44she's saying one of my mom's sisters, right?
- 8:47She's trying to distance herself.
- 8:49Absolutely. That's totally the vibe.
- 8:51And Christine says her aunt will
- 8:54horrible experience in polygamy.
- 8:56Well, OK, and I guess she probably would.
- 9:00Christine says that her aunt Kristen is completely against
- 9:06polygamy. She doesn't even think that
- 9:08people should be able to choose whether they want to be part of
- 9:12polygamy or not, and she doesn't know how she's going to
- 9:15feel when she sees her. She's very nervous about seeing
- 9:18her. Robyn, you know, Robyn,
- 9:21sometimes she feels the role of Barbara Walters for this family,
- 9:31Christine, well, do you love her because she's family or do you
- 9:37It's like that is what Christine has been pointing out to us for
- 9:42the last minute. So thank you for asking the
- 9:45question of what Christine was trying to tell us.
- 9:48She is ridiculous, yeah. God, she always is.
- 9:52They all look really nice here. Yeah, OK.
- 9:56Surprisingly, yeah, normal. They all look very put together,
- 10:04No, Meri's hair looked like a normal person's haircut.
- 10:07It was bizarre. It was bizarre.
- 10:10It was sleeked down, probably with a bunch of product,
- 10:15probably a lot of oil put in those ends to make them behave
- 10:26She looked good. They all look good.
- 10:29Yeah, my only problem was Janelle's bright purple shirt.
- 10:42The purple coming from this family.
- 10:44At least it wasn't shiny. It was a matte purple.
- 10:46Oh good it. Was a matte purple.
- 10:49Showing off every opportunity to show off is what Janelle usually
- 10:57respectable. Christine says that we're giving
- 11:00her all the platforms she needs to talk about how much she
- 11:02hates our family when discussing her aunt.
- 11:06Continuing to discuss her aunt.
- 11:08And then we go to her aunt's house.
- 11:12We get to Kristen Decker's house and it's interesting because we
- 11:17see somebody walking up the driveway and this is when we see
- 11:24Yeah, and as these clips are playing of people arriving at
- 11:28Kristen's house, there's this voice over from Christine where
- 11:30she's going to talk us through who these people are or we get
- 11:35Yeah, we see Kollene with her very of the time sweatshirt.
- 11:40It's a white sweatshirt with a fuzzy collar, faux fur collar
- 11:44all the way around, very of the time, very Hollister, whatever.
- 11:50And she's got her fried short,
- 11:53short blonde hair, purple feather earrings.
- 11:57And I am totally behind this. Totally behind this.
- 12:03Do you support these choices? She takes that jacket off and
- 12:07she is wearing a chartreuse shirt.
- 12:12And I saw myself for a moment and I saw that shirt, and I have
- 12:17the same shirt, except for when she turned around, it didn't
- 12:20say. Frankie says relax, don't do it.
- 12:23And that's what mine would have said.
- 12:25Relax, don't do it. Yes, I remember that shirt
- 12:29vividly. I'm sure people that are
- 12:30listening are going to be able
- 12:34letters. It's very iconic.
- 12:35Yeah, I'm almost like astral projecting into Kollene's body
- 12:39sometimes during this, and I'm
- 12:43more. She might not be able to
- 12:45articulate herself and get across her points because she's
- 12:48still learning after being away from her cult, but I feel I
- 12:54feel the vibes. Yeah, there's a lot of astral
- 12:56projection happening with you.
- 13:00tell you it's because I am such a psychic at heart and I also
- 13:07am an empath. Capital EME, Absolutely.
- 13:12We've heard that before, right?
- 13:15Absolutely. The next person that has a
- 13:17little bit of a moment during this introduction scene at
- 13:20Kristen Decker's house is Kristen Decker herself.
- 13:22She has a little bit of a moment where they give her a bottom 3rd
- 13:28I didn't really note anything of significance that we don't
- 13:31already know. She's Christine's aunt and she
- 13:38when we heard his name announced, Willie Steed, I was
- 13:48We've got Willie Steed here and he has an interesting haircut,
- 13:57on top of his head. He's got a coconut haircut and
- 14:04When we're being introduced to these three, we are reminded
- 14:07that Kollene Snow is from the Kingston Group of Kingston,
- 14:11Arizona. They don't tell us where Kristen
- 14:16But Willie Steed, Willie WILL i.e., good old Willie is from
- 14:22the FLDS cult. So we're just being reminded
- 14:25that these people aren't all from like the same neck of the
- 14:29their, I guess the volunteering opportunities with helping
- 14:32people probably from escaping the cults.
- 14:34I'm guessing that they all escaped and got help from the
- 14:38same place or a similar organizations.
- 14:41Willie Steed has an interesting quote.
- 14:45He says not every polygamist family is like a wonderful rose
- 14:50Bush. Out in the motto.
- 14:54Out in the motto. A Willie to English translation
- 15:00is not just a wonderful rose Bush out in a Meadow, in case
- 15:04you were wondering what that was Willie.
- 15:08So to accompany this half a coconut haircut, which looks
- 15:11like a Lego piece, like you could just take it off.
- 15:13It does it's. Like a coconut head.
- 15:16Yeah, he also has that kind of a Willie.
- 15:20Bless your heart, bless your heart, love Willie, but that
- 15:23look where it's like he's looking through you a little.
- 15:26Vacant. Stare, yes, just a little like
- 15:38someone who missed a few years in life really.
- 15:42He's scared to make eye contact. It's very apparent every single
- 15:46time that Willie is talking about his story or talking to
- 15:50the camera, it's a vacant, distant look.
- 15:53And we saw that before in the episode where Kollene was first
- 15:59introduced with the boy that was introduced there, the man
- 16:02that was introduced there. And I just cannot even imagine
- 16:16developed human and coming into this world that is our fucking
- 16:22The reason I think I hesitate in even describing it sometimes is
- 16:27'cause I don't want to put too much shame on it.
- 16:30I I don't want to imply that it's well more than an
- 16:35implication. I don't want to say it's just
- 16:37like straight up inbreeding. I don't want to say that they.
- 16:42I know. And so this is The thing is
- 16:43like, I don't want to put him down, but it's a combination of
- 16:47something to do with the genetics and then something to
- 16:54just being thrust into this world that is nothing like their
- 16:58It's very much like Phoebe from Friends.
- 17:01Smelly cat, smelly cat. It's not your fault.
- 17:04It's not your fault, Willie. It's not your fault, Willie.
- 17:08I mean, Willie overall is a good guy.
- 17:10You guys are going to like Willie by the end of this.
- 17:13I love Willie. I can tell already.
- 17:14I love Willie. Yeah, what's not to love about
- 17:19eyebrows and they they match the color of his hair perfectly.
- 17:23Designer eyebrows. It looks like if you had a Lego
- 17:29character legitimately like what you said.
- 17:31You said that it clicked for me. He looks like he has a Lego hair
- 17:38I love him already. I can tell he has a long way to
- 17:43go in growth, but I can feel for this guy.
- 17:47After he talks about this wonderful rose Bush out in the
- 18:00himself into here. The polygamists are all a rose
- 18:03Bush out in the Meadow about their choices to be polygamists.
- 18:06But that's not how it really is.
- 18:08He's alluding to the fact that the show and the fact that the
- 18:18wonderful is problematic. Yeah, we hear from Kristen
- 18:22Decker, and she gives us a little bit of her back story.
- 18:27She says that her father had 13 wives, her mother was the first
- 18:32of 13, and her mom had eight kids of her own.
- 18:38Her father had 23 biological children, and one of those
- 18:44children was Christine's mom. She doesn't say that, but
- 18:48obviously we can infer that. As Kristen with AY, very
- 18:52important to our sister wives, our fellow sister wives
- 18:55followers because everybody just throws AY in there for some
- 18:58reason. It's Kristen with AY and it's
- 19:00not the first I it's KRISTYN as in Christine, but Kristen.
- 19:05I told Chris while writing my notes.
- 19:08I said I'm going to have to spell this incorrectly.
- 19:10I'm going to have to spell this how I would spell Kristen or I'm
- 19:18are so close that I would have just ferked this up.
- 19:23And we get introduced to another Christine.
- 19:25So there's 2 Christine's and then Kristen with AY the end so.
- 19:32Not even at the beginning. I know, I know these people and
- 19:35their spellings. I.
- 19:36Think it's because they're reusing so many of the same
- 19:38names that they have to make them unique.
- 19:41I don't know what the uniqueness
- 19:42I feel like I've read online jokes about why they do the
- 19:44wise, but I really don't know.
- 19:47Please let us know if you know
- 19:50I want to know why with the wise.
- 19:52Absolutely. Why with the wise?
- 19:54As we're getting the back story on Kollene, Kristen and Willie,
- 19:58Kristen is welcoming them into
- 20:02taking out the spread and putting it on the counter,
- 20:05preparing some food for them. And it was the whitest shit I
- 20:09have ever seen in my fucking life.
- 20:12We're talking containers of potato salad, like the ones that
- 20:15go into the grocery store pre made, not from the deli, the,
- 20:18you know, Mrs. Myers or the grandma, whatever good shit.
- 20:22But like. Welcome to my home.
- 20:24I'm taking out the potato salad,
- 20:28the million crackers. Just like a million crackers on
- 20:33a tray. Just like how many crackers can
- 20:35one person? Well, three people eat.
- 20:37It's like a 4th of July buffet
- 20:42Totally rough. I was like.
- 20:43Minus what you going to. Do with this and then it turns
- 20:45out they're just going to munch on it, sitting in the living
- 20:47room, continuing to chat. They're not going on a picnic,
- 20:50they're not celebrating the 4th of July, None of that.
- 20:52Just. Eating this very, very, very
- 20:55white food. You pointed out, you go, Oh my
- 20:58God, the white spread and I'm like pointing at myself.
- 21:04You mean what I do every time I have company over?
- 21:09There was just, this is what's
- 21:11I love me some potato salad. I love myself some crackers and
- 21:14some veggies, all of that. But it was just like Walmart
- 21:17special, and I don't know, it was very strict.
- 21:19Everything is coming in plastic containers.
- 21:22There was probably plastic silverware and plastic napkins
- 21:24and plastic everything, like, oh, my God.
- 21:28Kristen also tells us that she
- 21:33After she got married, her husband was flirting immediately
- 21:36to get another wife. Because that's what you do when
- 21:38you're a polygamous man and you want to, you know, use your
- 21:40tool of God to spread the word of God.
- 21:43And she left this man after 33
- 21:47She was 50 years old. So it's a little weird for me
- 21:50sometimes to hear about people
- 21:54She's 50. This is a long time you.
- 21:57Gave it a college try. You gave it a longer than a
- 22:02college try, Kristen. She gave it.
- 22:05A She gave it her best. Listen, Kristen does not quit
- 22:07quickly and that quick is spelled with AY.
- 22:11I have mixed feelings about people that are with people for
- 22:13like Robyn with her ex for a decade.
- 22:15This woman was with a man for 33
- 22:17Doesn't mean that it was pleasant.
- 22:19It's just like God, that's a long time to stick it out.
- 22:22Think about how long it would take to break your mind to the
- 22:25fact that you're going to go to hell though if you divorce this
- 22:28POS. Yeah, yeah.
- 22:31You know, I will say my parents were married 25 years and got
- 22:36divorced, and they should have
- 22:40Sure, both of them would have been happier.
- 22:43I would have been happier. And I love my parents, you know,
- 22:47they just didn't belong together.
- 22:49And not everything is a failure.
- 22:52I've said this before. Divorce doesn't have to mean
- 22:55failure. It just means you're, you
- 22:57learned enough from that person. You're growing in opposite
- 23:01directions. And that can be OK for both of
- 23:07failure. 33 years is a very long time.
- 23:11And she seems very proud of the fact that she was 50 when she
- 23:16left. She even says that she gets very
- 23:25older years or upper years. And I can see that because they
- 23:31have been in this their entire life and they're obviously
- 23:35willing to continue learning. And she is very articulate.
- 23:40You can tell she's very, very smart.
- 23:43So it doesn't strike me as odd that she continued to learn
- 23:49throughout her thirty or three years of marriage as to why this
- 23:55because I can't be with someone for more than two weeks before
- 24:01have the patience for any of this.
- 24:02But you know, it's just. Because you're too good for
- 24:05everybody else. And I know that, you know that.
- 24:07When are the men going to figure
- 24:09that out? You know you're.
- 24:10Amount to God's ears, honey. We hear more about Kollene's
- 24:14story. We find out a little bit more
- 24:16than we found out previously. And of course she was from the
- 24:20Kingston community. She says she doesn't call it a
- 24:23cult. In her interview, she says the
- 24:25Kingston community, which was interesting to me.
- 24:30She says that her mom came from a big family of 12 kids and her
- 24:34mom was the 7th of 14 wives. And it has been three years now
- 24:41since Kollene left. Kollene is so pretty, by the
- 24:45way. She is very pretty.
- 24:47She has very nice skin. She overdoes the makeup.
- 24:50She overdoes the entire look always.
- 24:53But I think that's part of rebelling, as Christine pointed
- 24:56out when we met her before. But she is gorgeous.
- 25:00She's gorgeous. I'm not sure if it's an
- 25:02important detail or not, but I
- 25:06mom had 12 kids so that Kollene would have been one of the 12
- 25:10kids either way. You know either her mom was from
- 25:13a family of 12 or she was just
- 25:17is a constant in the cults, which we knew but a lot of kids.
- 25:22Her mom being the 7th of 14 wives.
- 25:25Like Oh my God it's so creepy.
- 25:30Oh, even if you just evened it
- 25:33with each wife, which, you know,
- 25:36my God. It's interesting they are
- 25:39pointing out the producers are
- 25:44large these families are. Kollene reviews with us about
- 25:47how she met the Browns previously.
- 25:49You know, we kind of already discussed that, but it was
- 25:52through this effort where the kids went up north back to Utah
- 25:55to help with getting people into
- 25:57And she came back and met Kody
- 26:01I remember correctly in the episode, kind of acknowledged
- 26:03that he seemed to be a better dad and husband and guy than
- 26:08what she was familiar with with her own father.
- 26:10That might be a bit generous in the way I'm saying it, but that
- 26:13was kind of my take away. Yeah, she made a point of asking
- 26:16him previously if he was a good father and if he was able to be
- 26:19there for all of them. And they had a moment of
- 26:22connection when they were doing their campground thing up in
- 26:25the woods. That's right where the girls
- 26:28came dressed up like polygamous girls.
- 26:30Oh, that was so. Creepy, awkward with Susan or
- 26:33Suzanne, the other girl, she went and dressed them up.
- 26:37Yes. Yeah, that disturbing moment
- 26:40that happened, she did have a moment of connection with the
- 26:44family, and I'm sure she feels a
- 26:48She points out that the Browns
- 26:51She makes a point of saying that
- 26:56from Kristen here. She says that she met Kody back
- 27:00when she believed in polygamy.
- 27:05first met, she could tell Christine was giddy and excited
- 27:10and happy. But she says now when she thinks
- 27:13of Christine, she wants to go and kidnap her and tell her she
- 27:18doesn't need to do this. And she is using words like
- 27:25kidnap to either elicit emotion from all of us or because she's
- 27:33being very dramatic. I think these words would
- 27:37isolate people even further. Agreed, I felt it was an extreme
- 27:42word to use. Such an extreme word.
- 27:44Particularly because she's talking about her own niece.
- 27:47And so when the second-half of
- 27:49saying you don't have to do this, you just think like you
- 27:52do. Like we were all told, it's like
- 27:55those are the rational things behind what you would say to
- 27:57someone to try to coerce. You know, once again, that's
- 28:00kind of a dramatic word. But, you know, talk some sense
- 28:03into them about the situation.
- 28:06them? Yikes, that's dramatic.
- 28:10It's kind of no wonder why Christine's so nervous to see
- 28:13her if she's been hearing behind
- 28:16that this wording has been used or she's wanting to take your
- 28:20children or whatever. Christine might be hearing from
- 28:24extended family. She's very nervous to see her
- 28:29aunt again. And she says, I love her.
- 28:30She was family, but I'm scared
- 28:35And then you got her aunt saying, oh, I would love to go
- 28:38and kidnap her. It's just, it's a dumb thing to
- 28:42say. And I feel like it's honestly
- 28:45the only dumb thing that her aunt says this entire time
- 28:48because her aunt is very articulate.
- 28:51That wording was just very unfortunate.
- 28:55Very very unfortunate to use and
- 29:00Yeah, it does make her seem more
- 29:03rest of the episode. It does.
- 29:04It really does. And now we're moving forward
- 29:08through time to one day before
- 29:12Dun Dun. Cue the dramatic music.
- 29:17It's. One day before the debate,
- 29:19they're going to meet the moderator.
- 29:21He's a professor at UNLV. And of course, they're running
- 29:24late. Kody is running around trying to
- 29:27get all the wives together. And we get them all packing into
- 29:30the van. And it's like kind of moment
- 29:33where they're taking off in the van and the front of the van,
- 29:36it is all scratched up. It is ferked up.
- 29:41And I thought to myself, Leon.
- 29:49driving, Leon? I want to know who did this.
- 29:54Oh my gosh, I was dying. You and I were laughing and.
- 29:57I thought that maybe you were laughing because while they were
- 29:59backing out of the driveway, they went over the curb and the
- 30:01van kind of bounced, but I missed the body damage.
- 30:05Body damage hitting the curb. They're running late.
- 30:09Now we get to learn a little bit
- 30:13Willie is a nervous Nelly, but
- 30:16He wants to let people know about his story.
- 30:19And Willie is from the FLDS. And Willie says that people
- 30:26normally think of it as Warren
- 30:30Willie comes from a family of 42
- 30:35My God. Yeah, my God, my Lord.
- 30:40His mom was the third wife and
- 30:45Fourteen of those 42 kids from
- 30:49He says that his experience was difficult and he left one year
- 30:54ago with some of his family, including his mom and six of his
- 30:58sisters. Yeah, and they left with
- 31:00nothing, he clarifies. They had nothing when they.
- 31:03Left nada and he has dodgy eyes.
- 31:06What does dodgy eyes mean? Like dodgy eyes, he can't look
- 31:13Every time we see him we're getting no eye contact.
- 31:19Dodgy and it is exactly like what we saw from the first guy
- 31:29And it breaks my heart for these guys, it really does because
- 31:34they are the forgotten. Like they literally are the Lost
- 31:40Skittish is something I take away from it as well.
- 31:42Just kind of almost like a dog that's anxious like.
- 31:44It's I agree. I don't know.
- 31:46Very much like my Italian greyhound goose.
- 31:49And my yes and my my boy. And when Willie has this moment
- 31:53where he's catching us up, it's interjected while we're at
- 31:56Kristen's house. And she says they're all feeling
- 32:01They talk about wanting to expose the truth about polygamy.
- 32:07there. And Kristen also tells us she's
- 32:09excited to see Christine and to give her a big hug.
- 32:14The niece of her she wants to kidnap, she wants to give her a
- 32:17big old hug. Hasn't seen her for years
- 32:19either. Right.
- 32:22You know, hard to navigate that.
- 32:23I don't really know. I mean, I guess you would miss
- 32:28The Browns finally make it to UNLV.
- 32:32The slide view mirrors hanging off No just.
- 32:36The bumper is dragging and it's sparking on the ground.
- 32:40Robyn can't figure out where to park, as per usual, running
- 32:45late. Oh, that Robyn reasoning.
- 32:47Everybody's plans. The Browns are going to be
- 32:52meeting with a professor who's orchestrating this panel between
- 32:58I believe he is a professor of anthropology and he is quite the
- 33:06looking at this boy. I was like oh man, alive.
- 33:09I need a daddy and I needed to be professor.
- 33:11But then I couldn't say his name.
- 33:14The problem is is his name was just messing with me and I was
- 33:20Darling. William Jankowayak, Jakeowak
- 33:24and. They do say it and it doesn't
- 33:28even sound like I would spelt like chuckowak or something I
- 33:32don't even know. William Jakeowak.
- 33:34Jakeowak. Let's go with Jakeowak, and I'm
- 33:36going to refer to him as Professor Creepo because that's
- 33:39the vibes I got from this professor.
- 33:42Definitely Creeper. Such a creep.
- 33:46He has very odd looking hair. It almost looks like he might
- 33:50have hair plugs, like a doll's hair individually plugged in and
- 33:56And he colors his hair, but he has a band of demarcation which
- 34:01means it's grown out. And he colors his beard, but
- 34:05there are some Grays showing and there's a line around his face
- 34:15obviously care about how you look, but you have roots showing
- 34:24And the beard is significantly darker than the hair on the head
- 34:30It is. It is.
- 34:31So strange. It screams of just for men.
- 34:34I don't know what I'm doing. I perhaps wanted to look younger
- 34:42Fool, I look like an idiot. Well he looks like a Teemu doll
- 34:46like you said, with the like little hair he does.
- 34:48He does. Going on here.
- 34:50Robyn Team Uzzadi. Yes, Robyn would throw that doll
- 34:56Professor Creepo says he wanted to do this discussion out of
- 35:02curiosity. When discussing polygamy with
- 35:04both men and women, he heard the vitality of families were
- 35:08dependent on the man primarily. And I'm going, OK, so are we
- 35:13really going to get into the roots of your curiosity here?
- 35:17It's hard for me to understand what his motivation is.
- 35:21It's just weird. It is weird, Kody says.
- 35:24It seems like you have something at stake here, right?
- 35:28As if he's studying them and his answer is, it's curiosity,
- 35:34really. Right.
- 35:36He's just curious about the relationships.
- 35:38It's so weird. It's so creepy.
- 35:41This guy's so creepy. He's just creepy all around.
- 35:43Janelle says that it's weird to be analyzed as a cultural group
- 35:47is feeling like a specimen in this situation.
- 35:51Now, do I want to give Kody any credit ever?
- 35:54No, but it also does seem like they are being analyzed as
- 35:57cultural groups. I guess they truly are specimen.
- 36:02step too far. He might as well be.
- 36:04In a Petri dish along with his
- 36:07We get clips throughout this of Mr. Professor Creeper and he's
- 36:15speaking directly to the camera and one of these clips he says,
- 36:22I find that it's dependent on the man whether the family
- 36:27succeeds or not and many men haven't been able to do it.
- 36:35He says weird quotes throughout when they're doing these
- 36:40interview moments that are just dumb and based on his own
- 36:44opinion, not on fact and not on research.
- 36:48So where the fuck is the research?
- 36:50He throws out these weird numbers the entire episode and
- 36:53and it is so bizarre. Where are they coming from?
- 36:59Where are they coming from? My overall take away of.
- 37:01Professor Creepo is that he's very much layering his opinions
- 37:06and his perspectives on everything.
- 37:08Even his curiosity about this seems morbid and almost perverse
- 37:11in the way he discusses it. It's like, what is going on with
- 37:14you and how is this part? Is this part of your curriculum?
- 37:17Is this being funded by somebody?
- 37:19Like, I don't know, I think it's
- 37:22This whole thing is weird. I'm just, I don't know, it's
- 37:25creepy. He's creepy.
- 37:27The family is sharing their. Concerns with him.
- 37:30Kody's wearing too small of a shirt, as Chris has pointed out
- 37:34before in his vest with the open
- 37:39They talk about being worried about the criticism and how the
- 37:44people who have left are the loudest and they're
- 37:46antagonistic. And it's like, of course, people
- 37:50that have left polygamy are the people who are the loudest.
- 37:54Duh. No, I'm choosing to stay here
- 37:57and I'm repressed. I'm going to be really loud
- 37:58about it. I mean, it's just bizarre.
- 38:00I don't even know where he comes
- 38:01I'm abused and. I needed to leave, and so I am
- 38:06strong enough to leave. Not that you're not strong if
- 38:08you don't leave, but I'm one of the people that was able to get
- 38:12the courage to leave and I'm going to keep my mouth shut.
- 38:15It takes a certain kind of person to leave, and they're
- 38:17probably the type of person that's going to say something,
- 38:20you know, And Mr. Professor says
- 38:24He says you won't convince those
- 38:28convince those that are neutral in the public, which is true,
- 38:36Professor Creepo. Tells us that polygamy is
- 38:38intrinsically interesting because it's an alternative to
- 38:41monogamy, which is a fundamental
- 38:46and people are curious about how
- 38:50Now, once again, I'm like, are
- 38:53America? Are you talking about yourself
- 38:54here? I don't know how many people are
- 38:57really, like dying of curiosity to know about how polygamy
- 39:00works. I don't know.
- 39:01I have to tell you something. Interesting about myself right
- 39:04now. Is it intrinsically?
- 39:05Interesting. It is OK when I was.
- 39:09In college studying psychology, my senior thesis was on
- 39:15monogamy versus consensual non monogamy versus infidelity.
- 39:23Oh, OK. It was interesting to me.
- 39:25Because I was studying sexual psychology and how these
- 39:30scenarios can impact people, and
- 39:36interested in it if it is truly from a perspective of studying
- 39:42mental health, but I don't think
- 39:45He's a sociology professor, anthropology professor, not even
- 39:52sociology. Well, I don't know the
- 39:54difference but. It.
- 39:57It's it's different, it's different, it's different.
- 40:01But you know what isn't different?
- 40:04Your connection to Professor Creepo here.
- 40:06I'm seeing that maybe you should
- 40:10ATA. Who knows what kind of research
- 40:12you could have found through your own sexual explorations
- 40:15with Doctor Creepo. I mean, excuse me, Professor
- 40:17Creepo. I would have been.
- 40:19Interested. Not with this guy, but with my
- 40:26Oh my God, that's amazing. When I met my.
- 40:31Husband. I wasn't sure if I believed in
- 40:37so interesting. Not because I would want to have
- 40:45idea of multiple partners. And I believe that we all have
- 40:53So yes, I was interested in this.
- 40:55So I can see. He says that he is interested in
- 41:02culture of our world, and he wants to know if this is a
- 41:08viable alternative or not. Oh, and he's talking about it as
- 41:19No, this isn't the same thing. The way he's speaking about it
- 41:27monogamy? It's weird and I'm just a slut,
- 41:32so there's that. No, let me correct that I.
- 41:35Just wish I was a slut, you know?
- 41:37I used to be a slut. I used to have fun, now I'm
- 41:40known you in slutty stage now. I can't even get professor.
- 41:43Creepo to look at me twice. God, I doubt that.
- 41:47Christine asks Professor Creepo about when the other panelists
- 41:54feel safe about doing this with her aunt.
- 41:57And, you know, she hasn't seen her in 15 years.
- 42:00Having opposition from her family is hard and challenging,
- 42:04and so she doesn't really want to share a space with her aunt
- 42:10I find that to be understandable.
- 42:11Christine lets us know. That she's worried about her
- 42:15aunt trying to fight her on her beliefs and she says that it's
- 42:23all of these things against polygamy in the sense that she's
- 42:31I can see that you grow up with this person that perhaps you've
- 42:36looked up to and all of a sudden their beliefs are
- 42:40complete 180 from what you know that they were, and it
- 42:45would be really weird to see from that perspective.
- 42:48If she still is in contact with her uncle and the other wives,
- 42:56Shares some concerns. You know, she's concerned about
- 43:00being ambushed. Oh God, Robyn, she's so dramatic
- 43:04dramatic in ways that we can? Like, you know, we get ambushed
- 43:08by anti polygamists all the time as she's referencing former
- 43:14She's so dramatic in these stupid ways.
- 43:17Like I'm just imagining her walking down the aisle at
- 43:19whatever store she's going to go collect more things for her
- 43:21horde and everyone's like, you're a polygamist.
- 43:23It's just like, no, this can't be true.
- 43:26It's understandable. I mean, they did live in fear
- 43:29and in shame for many years. She talks about having to lie.
- 43:33But really, like she's being bombarded with this anti
- 43:36polygamy rhetoric every day. It's like the bitch probably
- 43:39doesn't even leave her home. She can't drive, she can't park,
- 43:42I just don't get it. I'm picturing her walking down.
- 43:45The cereal aisle and somebody
- 43:47from another side just clearing out with their arm all the
- 43:50cereal and poking their head out
- 43:52You shouldn't be a bug on a strumming brown, just popping
- 43:57their head out through the cereal I can specifically see.
- 44:01You doing that? Absolutely shutting your head
- 44:05out, scaring the shit out of her.
- 44:06We know that. I do like a scare.
- 44:08You do like a scare. I like.
- 44:09To frighten people. I would love to see you
- 44:11frighten. Robyn that would be good.
- 44:14I would get charged with. Something I'd probably get
- 44:17pepper sprayed and charged with assault for real.
- 44:20Well, and how slow she is. These days you'd probably yell
- 44:22at her in 20 minutes later she'd
- 44:27her person. A little slow on the uptake
- 44:29there, Robyn. Oh boy.
- 44:32Now what I love about as. The Browns are leaving their
- 44:35meeting with Professor Creepo.
- 44:38from the building. Were the cameras outside?
- 44:40We're getting this exterior shot.
- 44:42And they're they're zoomed in.
- 44:45And then all of a sudden the camera trails and it focuses off
- 44:48on Kristen Decker in the background outside walking.
- 44:52And she's just on the she's on
- 44:56it's just kind of casually observing with a little look on
- 44:59her face. And I'm like, oh, it's good that
- 45:02they didn't see each other. Something bad could have
- 45:04happened. They're teeing it up.
- 45:06The rivalry. We hear from Robyn.
- 45:09Again and she says it makes me
- 45:14doing well and not speaking up.
- 45:17It makes me angry at these anti polygamists for being so closed
- 45:23minded, so close minded. And I can understand why.
- 45:27She'd be a little upset with the polygamists that are having good
- 45:35their own way. So given Robyn props here, I can
- 45:45I had a. Flashback, A non drug induced
- 45:49flashback where I remember her saying, I think it was in the
- 45:53first season, maybe it's the second.
- 45:54But when they're moving to Vegas and they're packing up the the
- 46:00you know, she's probably telling someone to move a box
- 46:02while she's doing nothing. And she's like, this isn't the
- 46:09And, you know, they do this stuff where it's hard to not
- 46:14have a empathy or an understanding for, you know, an
- 46:18element of what they're talking about.
- 46:20I don't think it's good to be persecuting people.
- 46:22And I don't think polygamous should be persecuted just on the
- 46:30that. Like, I certainly don't want to
- 46:32be backing up Robyn, No. We can understand where she's
- 46:36coming from. We don't have to like her.
- 46:41He can understand where she's coming from, that's what.
- 46:46Empathetic. People, we're empaths,
- 46:49Christopher, I need to start saying that.
- 46:53More I'm so I'm an empath. That's the worst person ever,
- 46:59Yeah. Like, Oh my God, Kristen Decker
- 47:02says. If they say they're OK, I'd have
- 47:09is not the norm for polygamy. Obviously the Browns are not the
- 47:16I shouldn't say obviously as if it's obvious, but that is her
- 47:19default in many of these discussions and conversations.
- 47:27Christine. And she says that she feels
- 47:29betrayed by how she's going against it so hard, this aunt of
- 47:38I can understand that as well. This person you grew up with
- 47:43your entire life all of a sudden complete 18033 years in this
- 47:49with your aunt. Yeah.
- 47:52And record scratch. I saw the sign.
- 47:58Yeah. Well, Kristen?
- 48:00Decker did see that sign. Don't, don't.
- 48:03It's the day of the debate. Meri thinks that everyone is
- 48:08being so silly, getting this riled up.
- 48:12Meri's not nervous at all. No.
- 48:15Well, Christina? 'S nervous, but Meri?
- 48:18Easy as pie, she's got nothing to worry about.
- 48:22Meri's been in all sorts of confrontations and combative
- 48:25situations. She creates them every day so
- 48:28she doesn't ever care. In the world, she's had to clean
- 48:34confrontations. She knows how it goes.
- 48:38Robyn's stomach. Is in knots.
- 48:40She's just so worked up now when we're getting these moments from
- 48:46We cut to Janelle doing her hair in her bathroom and there's no
- 48:52We do hear from her in like a minute, but I was just laughing
- 48:55to myself and my mind going, of course we hear from the three
- 48:58wives and then Janelle gets an opportunity and we get nothing.
- 49:01But I was jumping to
- 49:03conclusions. How unfair of me.
- 49:05We see Janelle and. Kody in her giant ass new
- 49:08bathroom. It's so huge.
- 49:11It's huge. They could have used some of
- 49:13that for closet space but that's
- 49:16hoarder. Kody is getting dressed at
- 49:20Janelle's and he is so worried
- 49:25Janelle says that she is not the
- 49:29that he needs to go and ask Robyn about that.
- 49:31And we see Kody buttoning and unbuttoning and buttoning over
- 49:36his belly, the shirt again and
- 49:41not understanding what looks best on him.
- 49:43And Janelle's like would you please just go to Robyn's?
- 49:46Bitch? I'm trying to curl my hair.
- 49:49Get out of here. I feel like he even said to her.
- 49:51Something like you look at my face and then the shirt and the
- 49:55jacket like as if to direct her like does this look good or
- 49:58not? And she's already volunteered
- 49:59that she does not know and she's not the wife to ask.
- 50:03Then he walks off and says. Something about needing his hair
- 50:13He does leave while he was. Leaving, I noticed that his hair
- 50:21trying not to pick on him for the balding apparently, but I'm
- 50:25sliding into depravity and just going to say that hair is a
- 50:28mess. This entire episode was a mess,
- 50:30but now I guess maybe it's that his length is getting long
- 50:33enough or maybe it clumps together a bit or something.
- 50:35It looked a little greasy. We get a shot of him from the
- 50:41top front area. We see the clumping to the sides
- 50:48It reminds me of the 90s hairstyle girls used to wear
- 50:52where they would pull out two thin strands on the front of
- 50:55their ponytail or something. It looks weird and it's bald
- 51:00behind the two strands hanging
- 51:04So he's fighting the good fight,
- 51:08here, and we're seeing that fight.
- 51:10More and more and more. I mean, this is the first point,
- 51:14I think, in the show where I have maybe even found myself
- 51:17distracted by it. It was a lot.
- 51:19This episode, it was. I haven't.
- 51:21Noticed it that much, which is
- 51:24Kennedy in the hair episode. I think it's rude to point out
- 51:29to your client repeatedly during
- 51:33asking for it. Obviously that was teed up for
- 51:36the show. However, this clip is awkward of
- 51:42the hair. Yeah.
- 51:44Kody tells us in a voiceover while he's leaving that his
- 51:46wives are making their choices
- 51:50So he's basically teeing up. You know, I don't have anything
- 51:53to be worried about with this discussion, this panel, because
- 51:57my wives are making their choices and my kids are happy.
- 52:00So what's there to do? And Janelle references how Kody
- 52:03gets the most heat in these situations because people think
- 52:07he's manipulating the women. And so she kind of, I don't
- 52:12remember if she was saying, you know, I default to him because
- 52:15he doesn't seem to be nervous.
- 52:17She's feeling it. She said that she doesn't think.
- 52:20That Kody is nervous because he's used to getting the heat
- 52:23because the man in the situation
- 52:27blamed and called the misogynist and gets called out and has to
- 52:31deflect. So she doesn't think that Kody's
- 52:33nervous. Fair enough.
- 52:36After we get these updates. From the wives and Kody about
- 52:38how they're feeling feelings, we
- 52:44plague group, the people that are here to shame and shun the
- 52:48Brown family publicly. And we're introduced to someone
- 52:51that you were talking about at
- 52:54because they were showing her in
- 52:58who may or may not have been in everyone's lives recently.
- 53:01We're going to hear from Christine.
- 53:03Marie, I think a lot of you might have seen her recent
- 53:07documentary on Netflix called Trust Me, the False Prophet, and
- 53:13she's going to tell us a bit of her story.
- 53:16This is recorded before she even
- 53:22Prophet. So she has been fighting the
- 53:25good fight for a long time here,
- 53:33Mormon church. But she was led astray by a man
- 53:38who was a self-proclaimed prophet.
- 53:42I can identify. I've tried to proclaim myself as
- 53:45a prophet on this very show. Well.
- 53:47This proclaimed. Prophet convinced her that
- 53:52polygamy was a lifestyle that was necessary for her based on
- 53:56the religion and nine months into it a fellow believer
- 54:01confessed to her that the guy was a false prophet.
- 54:05Her sister wife was a fake non
- 54:12in the group were believers. Yes, this fellow believer.
- 54:16Confessed to her that the prophet was a con artist she
- 54:19said con artist and I really was
- 54:23be quite traumatic to hear about
- 54:26that they're a con artist oops the sad part about.
- 54:29This is that he convinced her to
- 54:38She wasn't even a part of this.
- 54:41She was LED astray as she says. And she is the sweetest woman.
- 54:55blonde ponytail, pink eyeshadow,
- 54:59She takes the other anti polygamists into her home and
- 55:03she's letting him try on her clothes and her place looks very
- 55:08eclectic and awe God she has the
- 55:13I would say yes, I we don't. Like to use the word sweet but
- 55:17in this case I would say she has
- 55:20She seems she is soft spoken as you said and just the aura.
- 55:26Her aura comes across as very well, meaning you can tell she's
- 55:29very. Well meaning.
- 55:32After Christine Marie gives us
- 55:35herself, we cut to Willie and Kollene sitting on the couch at
- 55:40her place. Do you think we're still at her
- 55:41place? Not sure it matters, but they're
- 55:44sitting on the couch talking about what their experiences
- 55:47have led them to. And Willie says that he's found
- 55:52himself breaking himself into more than one person to
- 55:55basically compartmentalize his
- 55:59And while he's saying this, Kollene says that she has four
- 56:03people inside of her, and he volunteers that he also has four
- 56:08people. And of course, I'm going well,
- 56:11holy trauma response disassociating it's.
- 56:15It's crazy. I mean, it shouldn't say crazy
- 56:17in a negative way, but to jump
- 56:21one person. I try to, you know, whatever.
- 56:22And then she says I have 4:00 and he says I have 4:00.
- 56:25It's like 4 people. I mean, how literal do you take
- 56:29this as a personality divide? Do you think they really feel
- 56:32like they're four ways of coping
- 56:36I think Kollene. Truly means that she has four
- 56:40personalities where she dissociates.
- 56:42I think the first personality is
- 56:48The second one is the complete
- 56:52fighting against the man and everyone else.
- 56:55The third one is the one that's trying to blend in that we met
- 57:00when she met the Browns where she kind of placated to them.
- 57:03She came in a little rough and
- 57:07And I don't know who the 4th 1
- 57:09But I I have seen in watching this at least three of those
- 57:14personalities. Yeah, that makes sense.
- 57:18It's a self preservation. Tactic and I can completely
- 57:23understand why and how that happened to them.
- 57:26It was a little. Jarring to me to hear that they
- 57:29both identified with having four
- 57:32personas they were joking about.
- 57:34It being a little nonchalant about it.
- 57:37And then Kollene leads into the next thing she's going to say,
- 57:58Somebody asked a question or there was a conversation already
- 58:07saying that the whole point of marriage is splitting up the
- 58:12girls. They split up the girls for
- 58:14marriage so that they can move the bloodlines around.
- 58:17Her group is based off of incest and I read a book from an FLDS
- 58:44I don't want to have any ableist talk.
- 58:48This is a problem. It's really sad, it's
- 58:54disturbing, and they gloss over it.
- 58:58I'm a little perturbed by the fact that the show doesn't have
- 59:02the hotline number at the bottom.
- 59:05Oh, at the end of the episode. Usually they do.
- 59:08Something the other shows would. They didn't even insert it
- 59:12after. The fact this is years after
- 59:14this is aired, yeah, We're watching it on Discovery Plus
- 59:18and they haven't added that. Yeah, that's odd to me.
- 59:22We'll put it in the show notes. Yeah.
- 59:26Because. This is super.
- 59:29Disturbing, and if anyone in your life, a family member or
- 59:33anybody is grooming you, you wouldn't know.
- 59:38But just know that nobody should ever, ever tell you that you
- 59:44have to do something. If you feel icky at any time in
- 59:49your life about anything, anybody that you're with, try to
- 59:54Fuck politeness. You come first, that's all that
- 59:58matters. They gloss over this.
- 1:00:00They talk about the splitting of their personalities, they're
- 1:00:04obviously traumatized, and now they're talking about incest and
- 1:00:13That was a strange juxtaposition, The.
- 1:00:15Subject matter and then how it was just kind of bullet point,
- 1:00:24second cousin. And they said it was OK to her
- 1:00:31So of course, it's all right. He's your second cousin.
- 1:00:34It's not your first cousin. We're breaking up those
- 1:00:36bloodlines here, avoiding the incest as much as we can.
- 1:00:40She even shares an example about how one of her sisters married a
- 1:00:48Yeah, so. Basically one of her.
- 1:00:51Sisters married 1/2 Brother right?
- 1:00:53Same dad. Oh God.
- 1:00:56And this. Leads to them wrapping it up by
- 1:00:59saying how they hope that speaking out that they're doing
- 1:01:02it in hopes of helping others in the situation.
- 1:01:05But overall, this little segment, this little bit is
- 1:01:09rather quick and moved over. It's almost like we're getting
- 1:01:16this many sisters. We try to avoid incest issues by
- 1:01:22brother. I was married to my second
- 1:01:24cousin. And then it's like, OK, moving
- 1:01:27I read. Because it was so insightful, I
- 1:01:30listened to the audio book after you suggested.
- 1:01:33It and it is absolutely worth the listening.
- 1:01:35It's really good. It's called Church of.
- 1:01:37Lies by Flora Jessup and Paul T Brown and read it if you're
- 1:01:44interested. Listen to the audio book.
- 1:01:46The audio book is so good. That's actually what I did.
- 1:01:49I love to read. I'm a big reader but I listen to
- 1:01:55especially when we're watching this show that's so light
- 1:01:59hearted about really heavy topics.
- 1:02:02Yeah, because. We are, obviously.
- 1:02:05A comedy podcast, you know, we like to keep it light, but some
- 1:02:11of these topics are honestly disturbing.
- 1:02:15So we have to point out when they are, we can't just graze
- 1:02:19over it like they do in the fucking TV show.
- 1:02:22So Kollene married her second cousin.
- 1:02:25One of her sisters married a brother from a different mother
- 1:02:29recently and they are coming out to speak about it because
- 1:02:33obviously they want to help other people.
- 1:02:36And then we're going to go back to the Brown family cul-de-sac
- 1:02:52And as the Browns are leaving for the panel, Kody acknowledges
- 1:02:59culture and they just want to share their experience of the
- 1:03:03good. The Brown family's opposition in
- 1:03:09experiences or the other good experiences from their culture.
- 1:03:14Culture, right?
- 1:03:16And when I say. Culture.
- 1:03:17I mean to emphasize the cult in culture.
- 1:03:20Hot off the heels of hearing these terrible examples, right
- 1:03:25now, it's like, you know, Kody's
- 1:03:27little bit about it because their family's great, their
- 1:03:30family's fine. They think that the stereotypes.
- 1:03:33That are being spewed by the FLDS.
- 1:03:37Thing that happened. The thing that happened.
- 1:03:40Let's gloss over all of that Warren Jeffs shit and the
- 1:03:45culture is being affected by that and other people have had
- 1:03:48good experiences and why can't
- 1:03:55well, the stereotypes of polygamy, you know the.
- 1:03:57Controlling men, the weak wives,
- 1:04:01are just stereotypes and that's not what the Brown family
- 1:04:05experiences. Robyn looks at Kody.
- 1:04:08They're in the foyer at this point of one of the homes in the
- 1:04:11cul-de-sac. They're in the foyer and Robyn
- 1:04:15looks like she's reading off of her phone, which is weird.
- 1:04:18She has her phone up and she goes, What if they say you're a
- 1:04:22misogynist pig, Kody? Kody says.
- 1:04:27I could agree with them, and although otherwise they're like,
- 1:04:31laughing or saying, oh, don't do
- 1:04:36it. But how many times have we heard
- 1:04:43show? Yeah, yeah, Robyn says.
- 1:04:46Whatever, as Janelle is chuckling at the entire thing.
- 1:04:51OK, once again, the splicing is a little weird.
- 1:04:53I, I don't really blame them for
- 1:04:57conversation as they're getting ready to leave, you know, I'm
- 1:05:00sure they're trying to, you know, keep their spirits up and
- 1:05:02be like, hey, we're not nervous,
- 1:05:04It's just that the subject matter is so cringe in
- 1:05:08comparison to what we were just talking about.
- 1:05:11It's gross. Christine gives us.
- 1:05:13Another blurb that's. Serious, Christine says most of
- 1:05:18what you see talked about makes people angry.
- 1:05:22And it makes me angry. The media shows abuse and the
- 1:05:25rape of young girls. That's not polygamy.
- 1:05:29But people will lump it all together because they just don't
- 1:05:32know. Yeah, because the majority of
- 1:05:37the situations that we have found out about and seen are
- 1:05:40that and we have only seen you
- 1:05:47forward at this point, right? So, yeah, that's what people
- 1:05:52have seen. Yeah.
- 1:05:53Other people just don't know about what happens.
- 1:05:55In families like the Browns, like their family?
- 1:05:58Yeah, absolutely. We don't.
- 1:06:00Where are they? And you know, Robyn did
- 1:06:02reference earlier some frustration with other people
- 1:06:04not coming forward. Are these people real?
- 1:06:07Are they imaginary? I'm not sure we'll hear a little
- 1:06:11bit more about that from Professor Creepo about how what
- 1:06:15makes a successful polygamist family, which love to hear this
- 1:06:18backed by data information from the professor he made-up based
- 1:06:22on his. Observations the professor.
- 1:06:27Don't don't one. Hour before the debate.
- 1:06:34Everyone's arriving at the panel
- 1:06:38if they could be kept in separate spaces before the panel
- 1:06:40starts. It's like, yes, we know that you
- 1:06:42want to be in separate spaces.
- 1:06:44Christine does not feel safe being in A room.
- 1:06:47With them. And she's not ready to see her
- 1:06:49aunt yet. Her mom's sister.
- 1:06:51Mama's. Sister I.
- 1:06:53Don't want to see my mama's sister.
- 1:06:54I'm just not ready yet. I don't know how I'm going to
- 1:06:56talk to her. Oh, Lord.
- 1:06:59And Robyn. Oh God.
- 1:07:02And Robyn has to. Drop that, Habsburg.
- 1:07:04Jaw down and say we've been dealing with the anti polygamist
- 1:07:08hate our whole lives and then she reconnects the Habsburg.
- 1:07:13Jaw shoves it, backs it. Up off the floor, Oh my God.
- 1:07:20As the Browns are getting settled into their little
- 1:07:23holding space, their office behind this auditorium where
- 1:07:26they're eventually going to end up, we see Kollene and Kristen
- 1:07:30walking on by. Oh, there they are, these evil
- 1:07:33anti polygamist and they're on
- 1:07:36end of the hallway. And you know, I was a little
- 1:07:39distracted by what Kollene was
- 1:07:41So honey, you're going to have
- 1:07:43outfit. But before we do that, it's
- 1:07:46important to know that Christine
- 1:07:50the end of the hallway. So while Kollene and Kristen are
- 1:07:54just meandering down the hall as
- 1:07:57down to use the restroom, they
- 1:08:00Dun, Dun. Christine Brown is in the
- 1:08:03bathroom. And this is when you said
- 1:08:05something about, oh, Kollene. And I said, did she wave at
- 1:08:09them? Did she make a face?
- 1:08:10And you were like, no, look at
- 1:08:12Oh. Yeah, I died and went to emo
- 1:08:17heaven and then the emo hell. Kollene is wearing black
- 1:08:22jeggings, a hot pink cold shoulder top, a big poof on the
- 1:08:29top of her head. I do not believe that she was
- 1:08:32wearing a bump it because I think her hair is fried enough
- 1:08:35that she could tease it enough
- 1:08:37Yes, and. Yes, she has.
- 1:08:42Thick black eyeliner, huge pink eyeshadow like 2010 style.
- 1:08:48Makeup artist from the YouTube
- 1:08:51how to do this. But the kicker?
- 1:08:55Black fingerless gloves. Oh, and those black fingerless
- 1:08:59gloves. Tie in really great to the giant
- 1:09:02crucifix hanging around her neck
- 1:09:06wannabes. I was so excited about the
- 1:09:08Madonna vibes, but it was tied
- 1:09:12I don't give a fuck to 1 E 10 vibes.
- 1:09:16It was very bright. It was very dramatic.
- 1:09:20Kollene did look like she was going on set to a music video.
- 1:09:23She did not look like she was going to a panel to discuss
- 1:09:26polygamy. Bless her.
- 1:09:28Bless her. You know she should express
- 1:09:30herself however she wants. Express your whole self hey.
- 1:09:34Hey, but it really. Was a dramatic look and I don't
- 1:09:39know, I didn't hate it. I mean, I did hate it.
- 1:09:41I don't know. It was.
- 1:09:42It was something. To be honest, I hated it for the
- 1:09:44scenario. Yeah, it was more going out
- 1:09:48having a good time vibe if she
- 1:09:53Yeah, at this time, unfortunately, people are
- 1:09:59predisposed to look at that and not take you seriously.
- 1:10:03So I wish that she would have dressed differently.
- 1:10:06I wish that Kristen or Christine
- 1:10:12honey, we love you so much. We love that you're an
- 1:10:15individual. But let's tone it down a bit,
- 1:10:18because Christine Marie has a really weird sense of style
- 1:10:21herself, but it still reads as
- 1:10:25Yeah, because at the panel I noted she was even wearing.
- 1:10:28Pearl earrings. She tightened up a bit for the
- 1:10:31panel and that could have served
- 1:10:34It could have and I am starting.
- 1:10:36To really like Kollene at this point, and not that I didn't
- 1:10:40before, but I have an appreciation for her and I do
- 1:10:45think she's gorgeous. She really is, and she's an
- 1:10:49amazing makeup artist for herself.
- 1:10:51I'm very curious if she ever did anything with that
- 1:10:55professionally because she was good at it.
- 1:10:58We get a clip now of Christine talking, and Christine says that
- 1:11:08the hall. Not that she was laughing at
- 1:11:11her. She was obviously laughing with
- 1:11:13somebody, but she was scared to leave the stall.
- 1:11:16Yeah. And I'm wondering if she texted
- 1:11:20or called one of her sister wives, because all of a sudden
- 1:11:44the. Bathroom and went to save her.
- 1:11:53Kristen after they usher Christine out of the bathroom,
- 1:11:59And it just felt like middle school vibes.
- 1:12:02It felt very oh, did she? She said it feels.
- 1:12:05Very high school. This is weird because they were
- 1:12:08literally just waiting for her to leave the bathroom to give
- 1:12:11her space and respect. It wasn't a good look for
- 1:12:13Christine, I don't think. I don't think so either.
- 1:12:16Yeah, hard to say. What I do in that situation?
- 1:12:18Oh, I'd probably just walk into the bathroom with my head held
- 1:12:22Maybe wave on your way out? I think that Kristen and Kollene
- 1:12:31her space. Kristen could have gone in and
- 1:12:37Christine didn't want to see her yet.
- 1:12:39So they waited out there, but it wasn't that they were being
- 1:12:42silent to ambush her that way. Can you imagine if Christine
- 1:12:45would have walked out and they'd have been quiet the whole time
- 1:12:50Kollene in the corner, standing there.
- 1:12:52That would have been worse. It would have been startling.
- 1:12:54Yeah, I think either way. There was no winning.
- 1:12:57And maybe production set it up that way.
- 1:13:01Maybe production told Kristen, Oh yeah, the bathroom's empty,
- 1:13:09sort of setup here and it wasn't played out well in any scenario
- 1:13:14when Christine returns to the holding.
- 1:13:17Office with Robyn and Meri. She turns to Kody and starts
- 1:13:22crying in his shoulder. And holding him for your life,
- 1:13:27If the worst thing has ever happened to her and I don't, I
- 1:13:39After this moment, the family makes a prayer circle and they
- 1:13:42start praying as they show us footage of everyone entering for
- 1:13:46the forum. So we're going to be walking
- 1:13:49into where this panel is happening and as they're showing
- 1:13:52the anti polygamous and the Brown family walking in, we get
- 1:13:55this prayer happening as audio
- 1:14:00make it out because it was muffled because they were in
- 1:14:02this prayer circle. So I feel like they were going
- 1:14:05for a dramatic effect and it didn't really land.
- 1:14:07They muffled half of it. They let.
- 1:14:09Us hear some of it. It was background noise to the
- 1:14:14scene that we were being shown
- 1:14:19two cameras at the back of the
- 1:14:22It's not even an auditorium, it's a tiny lecture hall.
- 1:14:29To be fair, I felt a bit dramatic.
- 1:14:31Calling it an auditorium. It's a lecture hall.
- 1:14:34It's a lecture hall. OK.
- 1:14:34Yeah, like a big. Classroom.
- 1:14:35Almost. Like this professor told his.
- 1:14:39Students, they would get extra
- 1:14:42motherfucking thing. Oh well, don't you think?
- 1:14:46Well, it wasn't even full, so I don't know.
- 1:14:48Right, That's why I think that.
- 1:14:51Professor Creepo said. I'll give you extra credit if
- 1:14:55you come to see the IT was weird.
- 1:14:59Not a packed house and not a big house.
- 1:15:01So yeah, it was a bit underwhelming as they're walking
- 1:15:09tiny auditorium as if they're at the school of models for the
- 1:15:14tiny people. And how do you fit into the
- 1:15:16building? Janelle talks about feeling like
- 1:15:23Don't, don't. Very dramatic.
- 1:15:26So now this feels. Like a good place for us to
- 1:15:28take. A break because we've already
- 1:15:30been talking about this for a hot minute and maybe this is an
- 1:15:34opportunity for us to drop a special Part 2 on a Thursday.
- 1:15:38I feel like people like it. I feel like I like it.
- 1:15:40I feel like I get some tingles
- 1:15:44drops on a Thursday. Special notification.
- 1:15:48Ding Ding. We're going to take a brief one
- 1:15:50day bathroom. Break and then we'll be back to
- 1:15:52see you on Thursday. I hope that you dream about this
- 1:15:56panel. Discussion and maybe it'll be a
- 1:15:58nightmare.
