- 0:47Speaker 1: Welcome to today's edition of Reflection on the Word with
- 0:50Speaker 1: Richard K. I'm Chuck Christie, and today we are asking
- 0:54Speaker 1: you to spend a few moments of your time with
- 0:56Speaker 1: us each day as Richard shares from God's work with notes, quotes,
- 0:59Speaker 1: and story along with some of his own personal experiences,
- 1:02Speaker 1: to confirm for you God's great love for us, that
- 1:05Speaker 1: his compassion for us never fails, and that He has
- 1:08Speaker 1: a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. Now, if
- 1:11Speaker 1: you miss a portion of today's broadcast or would like
- 1:13Speaker 1: to recommend it to a friend, you can hear this
- 1:16Speaker 1: program anytime online at Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now
- 1:21Speaker 1: here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar and
- 1:27Speaker 2: there remember that your brother has something against you. Leave
- 1:31Speaker 2: your gift there before the altar and go your way.
- 1:35Speaker 2: First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and
- 1:39Speaker 2: offer your gift. Matthew five, twenty three and twenty four
- 1:45Speaker 2: from the New King James Version of the Bible. How
- 1:49Speaker 2: do we clear obstacles to unity? Imagine looking out your
- 1:54Speaker 2: window and seeing your neighbor back his car into yours,
- 1:58Speaker 2: leaving a sizeable den. He sees you watching, but drives away.
- 2:03Speaker 2: How do you feel? You see each other in the
- 2:06Speaker 2: neighborhood and at church, but he never mentions the incident.
- 2:11Speaker 2: For weeks, you carry on an internal debate about confronting him. Finally,
- 2:17Speaker 2: as he's getting into his dent free car, you approach
- 2:21Speaker 2: him and say, you hit my car last month. Your
- 2:25Speaker 2: neighbor responds, yes, I did, to which you say, why
- 2:30Speaker 2: haven't you talked to me? He answers, because I talked
- 2:34Speaker 2: to God about it. I confessed what I did at
- 2:37Speaker 2: the altar and even gave an extra offering to pay
- 2:41Speaker 2: for it. So God has forgiven me and everything is okay.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Now this may sound crazy, but what does this do
- 2:50Speaker 2: to our unity in the faith. Jesus said that we
- 2:54Speaker 2: are to reconcile with our brother before worshiping, and he
- 3:00Speaker 2: is referring to a similar scenario. God forgives us of
- 3:05Speaker 2: our sins, but before we praise him, we are to
- 3:09Speaker 2: do everything possible to remove obstacles such as guilt, unresolved conflict,
- 3:15Speaker 2: or bitter attitudes. Jesus emphasizes relationships over rituals, and people
- 3:23Speaker 2: are more important than processes. As we follow Jesus, we
- 3:29Speaker 2: are to do whatever it takes to remove the obstacles
- 3:33Speaker 2: that keep us from oneness with God and unity with
- 3:38Speaker 2: our brother.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to rep up.
- 3:43Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us, you've been listening to
- 3:45Speaker 1: Reflections on the Word with Richard K. You can hear
- 3:48Speaker 1: this message in its entirety again online as well as

- 3:59Speaker 1: Faithness from the America's twenty five Favorite Hymns album and
- 4:03Speaker 1: let's otherwise Express scriptures are read from the Holman Christian
- 4:07Speaker 1: Standard Bible, which is published by Homan Bible Publishers from Nashville, Tennessee.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Additional resources used for Reflections on the Word with Richard
- 4:16Speaker 1: K include Great Is Thy Faithfulness by Our Daily Bread
- 4:20Speaker 1: and printed by Discovery House Publishers. Again, here is Richard
- 4:24Speaker 1: to wrap up today's message.
- 4:28Speaker 2: What should we do in just this kind of situation?
- 4:33Speaker 2: We can't justify waiting until we clear the obstacle. We
- 4:38Speaker 2: must act as soon as we realize its existence. It
- 4:43Speaker 2: doesn't matter who may have been wrong, It only matters
- 4:48Speaker 2: that we make it right. Therefore, if you bring your
- 4:53Speaker 2: gift to the altar and there remember that your brother
- 4:57Speaker 2: has something against you. Leave your gift there before the
- 5:03Speaker 2: altar and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother,
- 5:09Speaker 2: and then come and offer your gift. Matthew five, twenty
- 5:16Speaker 2: three and twenty four. And that is today's reflection on
- 5:24Speaker 2: the word.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Richard.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Join us again tomorrow when we continue with the next
- 5:29Speaker 1: edition of Reflections on the Work with Richard k or
- 5:32Speaker 1: Richard the entire team. This is Chuck Christy saying thanks
