Transcript
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Hello everyone.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to another episode of Truth Be Told.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: I am Mickey.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, and joining me today is my co-host Bethany.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: And today we are going to dive right back into where we left off last week.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: We are on part five of Are You Thirsty?
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: And this has been a great series.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: We've been talking about salvation.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: We've been talking about some follow-through with what to do once you get saved, some of the expectations that God has on our lives for us, walking in obedience, walking in this truth, and walking in this love.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: And that's what truth be told is all about is us sharing the Bible and the Word of God with you.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: And hopefully you'll be able to gain a whole bunch of knowledge from it and wisdom.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: And we just want to encourage you, Bethany and I, to open up your Bible and get into the word.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: And don't you don't even have to take our word for it.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: Just listen to what we say, open up the Bible and see it, see, see what it does for you.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: I'm telling you, God does so many things in so many different ways.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: And sometimes God will even speak to you in ways He doesn't speak to Bethany or I.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: He might give you a completely different message or a different outlook on the scripture than what he gives to Bethany and I.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: But today we are going to dive in again.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: This is part five of Are You Thirsty?
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: And Bethany has a lot of great scripture, so I can't wait to have her come on and say hello and we can get going on this episode.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: So welcome in, Bethany.
- 1:23SPEAKER_02: Thank you so much.
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: Great to be here and um excited for this episode and what the Holy Spirit may do for you as you listen or watch this.
- 1:42SPEAKER_02: And so if Mickey wants me to, I can go ahead and pray and dive right into it.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that sounds good.
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: All right, let's pray.
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: Dear Lord, I thank you for this time.
- 2:02SPEAKER_02: Thank you for what you will do during this time as we continue with this series that we're on.
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: And I pray, Lord, that this episode would be an encouragement to those who listen or watch that they would feel your presence on their lives and that they would search the scripture for themselves.
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: Even as Mickey said, to not take our word for it, but to search for themselves.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: And so Lord, we thank you for what you will do during this time.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: In Jesus' name.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: Amen.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: So this episode continuing on in our series of Are You Thirsty is going to be slightly different than what we've talked about previously.
- 3:31SPEAKER_02: This episode is Are You Thirsty for a Restful Night's Sleep?
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: And in our last episode, Makey brought up a scripture, Ephesians four, verse twenty-six.
- 3:58SPEAKER_02: And I want to focus a little bit on the second half of that verse.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: And so let me read the verse to you.
- 4:14SPEAKER_02: Ephesians four, verse twenty-six says, Be ye angry and sin not.
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: Let not the sun go down upon your wrath.
- 4:35SPEAKER_03: No.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: Why shouldn't we let the sun go down upon our wrath?
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: What does that visually what does that do?
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: When the sun goes down, it means it's overnight, right?
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: Do you think that Satan takes the overnight off?
- 5:19SPEAKER_02: I can tell you personally for myself.
- 5:25SPEAKER_02: Um Satan does not take the overnight off.
- 5:31SPEAKER_02: And maybe you would even say that the overnight is even more challenging than during the day.
- 5:51SPEAKER_02: You're trying to get sleep and for whatever reason you're either awake or you get woken up suddenly by dreams, or and just doesn't just happen one night, but it happens continually.
- 6:22SPEAKER_02: And if that's where you're at right now, if you even dread the overnight because of that, let me encourage you that can change, and I will um explain more about that at the end of our episode.
- 6:57SPEAKER_02: But now I want to look at a few verses that talk about how God desires for our sleep to be.
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: And so before I go into those verses, let me ask Mickey, do you have thoughts on this verse as I um related it?
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: How I did.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I like I like that we're you know, because we're we're diving into this.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: Um you know, a part of being thirsty is and in and quenching our our our um thirst is replenishing us.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: And and rest is something that needs to be replenished.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: And we can't get replenished if we are harboring stuff that we can't let go of before we go to bed at night.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: And I, you know, in the the whole verse is good, like be be angry and sin not, let not the sun go down.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: But I also like the next part of the verse that says, because you brought up a great point about the enemy, he doesn't sleep, because the very next part, which is verse 27, says, neither give place to the devil.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: So it really does coincide with itself and with what we're trying to um discuss today.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: We don't want people to be just, we don't want God wants us to have a hunger and a thirst for him.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: But how can we hunger and thirst for him if we ourselves are not rested up in what we're supposed to be?
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: We're supposed to get plenty of rest and we're supposed to nourish ourselves and take care of ourselves.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: And we do that not just on in a physical realm sense, but in a spiritual realm sense, that's how we end up craving God more, is when we take care of ourselves the way we're supposed to, like that, and we don't let our anger and our sin um we don't take it to bed when we go to sleep.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: We just we give it to God.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: You pray and you give it to God, and He's He takes that from us, and then we He gives us and allows us that time for the rest that we need because He keeps the enemy at bay, even though the enemy is still there, he keeps the enemy at bay.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: So this is this is a great start.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: I'm glad that you brought this up, and I think it's it's great from for where we're going.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: So great scripture.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: And you said that other scripture was Psalms what?
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: Okay, I gotcha.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: I'm with you.
- 9:51SPEAKER_02: Psalm four and verse eight, and the setting for this psalm is when David is on the run from his own son.
- 10:17SPEAKER_02: I can't even imagine that having to be on the run from a family member.
- 10:32SPEAKER_02: I wow.
- 10:35SPEAKER_02: And so for David, being on the run meant that he was living in caves and living in the wilderness.
- 10:49SPEAKER_02: So he did not have the comforts of his house.
- 10:57SPEAKER_02: He did not have a regular bed to sleep in.
- 11:05SPEAKER_02: He was sleeping, like I say, in caves.
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: He had stones probably for pillows, if he had any.
- 11:19SPEAKER_02: So and let's see let's see how his sleep was.
- 11:28SPEAKER_02: So Psalm four and verse eight gives us one just one instance of how his sleep was.
- 11:51SPEAKER_02: And again, this is David writing this.
- 11:55SPEAKER_02: So verse eight.
- 11:59SPEAKER_02: Says, I will both lay me down in peace and sleep.
- 12:09SPEAKER_02: For thou Lord only make us be to dwell in safety.
- 12:23SPEAKER_02: I don't know about you, but that speaks volumes to me.
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: When we when we truly understand where David was at this time that he wrote that makes me wonder how would we do in a situation like that?
- 13:01SPEAKER_02: Would we be able to say what David said?
- 13:10SPEAKER_02: Would we be able to have that restful sleep?
- 13:16SPEAKER_02: Notice it.
- 13:18SPEAKER_02: He said, I will both lay me down in peace and sleep.
- 13:33SPEAKER_02: Maybe we need to take more time than we do when we read our Bibles.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: Maybe we did need to take more time in studying and not just burst through it.
- 14:01SPEAKER_02: I would encourage you.
- 14:03SPEAKER_02: If you're at a place right now where you're asleep isn't what you want it to be, or isn't what it used to be, or whatever the case.
- 14:26SPEAKER_02: Study David's life.
- 14:32SPEAKER_02: There's some great verses in the book of Psalms.
- 14:40SPEAKER_02: David wrote seventy-five chapters in the book of Psalms.
- 14:48SPEAKER_02: Seventy-five.
- 14:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 14:52SPEAKER_02: Um restful, peaceful sleep is possible.
- 15:05SPEAKER_02: And so, Mickey, do you have thoughts on this first?
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the only thought I have is that this this verse is a a psalm that brings comfort.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: So if we're if we're thinking and talking about, you know, um not being angry and not going to going to bed um or let the sun go down on our wrath, this verse is where we find that comfort because he says, For thou Lord only makest me dwell in safety.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: He's he's being comforted through the Lord, not by anything else, not by his worry, not by his anger or his sin.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: And I love that because it's it literally refers to it and it brings um such a comfort in expressing that God provides ultimate security and peace no matter what the circumstance.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: As long as we lean lean in on the Lord and we just lay that lay that burden down, that wrath, that worry, that whatever it is, that bad day at work or um the financial struggle or or or whatever, you know, the disagreement you have with your kid, you know, I can relate to some of these things, you know, but things that are you know that we all worry and and we think about every day and we try to um when we go to bed, we sometimes sit and think about all those things that are going on in our lives.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: But if we just give it to God and we just lay it down at his feet, basically, he will bring you not just peace, but it says peace and sleep, like it says.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: And he will make you make you safe.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: He's gonna be your c he's gonna be your safety protector.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: He's uh he is our protector.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: And that that's comforting for me just to know that, you know, and sometimes I think we like you said, we rush into the scripture and then we we don't we don't get from the word of God what God wants us to get from the word of God, which is that security blanket that He's offer He's offering you a little literal security blanket in your comfort, in your in your in your resting time that you should be getting to keep yourself healthy.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: And we sometimes forget to do that because we're instead of leaning in on God, we're leaning in on everything else but it's the but that we're leaning in on, and we shouldn't be.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: It should be God that we should be seeking our refuge in, our comfort in, our everything in.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: And when we start doing that, um, I guarantee you, again, as a challenge, I like to challenge.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: We've been doing a lot of challenges lately with these, is as you're seeking God, just think and pay attention to where you start and where where where you end up as you're seeking Him.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: And take take a measurement of your peace level.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: Where are you at?
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: Are you sleeping better?
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: Do you have peace of mind?
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: Are you finding more joy in the day?
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: And there's times, you know, when there's days where you know it can be an all-day thing where it's just a frustrating thing all day long.
- 18:13SPEAKER_00: And you just gotta give it to the Lord, you know, you just gotta give it to the Lord and and sometimes just let Him take take the will, you know, like they say, Jesus take the will, you know.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: And kind of like the little Jesus, you know, I don't know if you know about the little Jesuses that are all over, you know, we found one in the park, and it was wonderful because um it was right after my grandmother passed away, and we went for our very first walk for the first time we could leave the house without having to worry about my grandma.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: We went and got lunch and we went to the park and we were standing on the bridge and there was this little Jesus, you know, and my daughter found it and she said, Here, um, you need a little Jesus in your life, you know.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: I need a lot of Jesus in my life, but you know, it was just a cute gesture.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: And again, the other day I went with my aunt.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: I took my aunt's on Sunday.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: I took her for a walk and we found another little Jesus, you know, on our little nature walk.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: And um it's it's a reminder sometimes as we're, you know, even though we went to church, as we're as soon as church is over, we hit we our our thought process went right into okay, we gotta go home.
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: What are we gonna make for dinner?
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: And what are we doing on Monday?
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: And then what are we doing on Tuesday?
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: And what are we doing the rest of the week?
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: And that's a really good question.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: What are we doing the rest of the week?
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: What are we doing from Sunday on?
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: Is is church only on Sunday?
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: Pretty sure God doesn't want it that way.
- 19:32SPEAKER_00: If we want the security and the comfort that God wants us to have, every single day the sun goes down, does it not?
- 19:41SPEAKER_00: Every single day we need to give it to God and lay that wrath at his feet and let him be our comforter.
- 19:47SPEAKER_00: He wants to be our comforter.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: And if we allow him to comfort us, he will comfort us.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: We are the ones that don't allow it.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: We block that comfort.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: It's like when you when you're kicking off the blankets, we're we're blocking that comfort instead of wrapping up in it.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: And we should be wrapping up in it every single night, nightly.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: It's a calling, I believe, that God wants us to um really, really, like you said, Bethany, slow down a little bit and sit at the feet of Jesus, spend that time with him, because we are missing it.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: We are missing it.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: And right now, Jesus is waiting for the bridegroom to get ready.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: And if we are not letting getting rid of our wrath before the sun goes down, taking care of it, letting it go, it's gonna, it's it's gonna be a while.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: But I know that the bride, you know, we as the bride, we are supposed to be getting ready, and we need to be thinking about that.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: And we have to let our anger go.
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: We have to um let go of our sin.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: Sometimes when we walk in sin, and we haven't really dove into this yet, and I know that we probably will go into this more, but as we think about sin, as we're in our sin, the reason why we can't get over our sin is because we don't let go of our sin.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: Whatever it is that we keep running back to, we made that our security blanket instead of making Jesus our security blanket.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: And it's not that we're horrible or bad because we're sinners.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: God knows we're sinning, we're sinning and that we're sinners.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: But sometimes we we run back to that sin because we found a comfort in it.
- 21:29SPEAKER_00: The comforter should be Jesus Christ.
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: And the more we run to him, the less the sin will be as appetizing and desirable.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: I really firmly believe that if we really lean in on God and um, you know, make him the Lord of Lord, the King of Kings, and you know, you know, the Almighty, He is our safety blanket.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: If we do that, then we will definitely um find refuge.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: We will find the refuge that he wants us to find in him.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: So this is a really good scripture.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: And um I I like it because.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: You know, like what you said with David, you know, he's not in a comfortable place, but he's sleeping very comfortably because he has the maker with him.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: He has Jesus, you know, and he knows where his comfort lies.
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: It's not necessarily in or on the place that he's at, but he knows where his actual comfort lies.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: And that's what I love about this verse and why it's so comforting to me.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: So this is a great verse.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 22:33SPEAKER_02: It says so much in just a short verse there.
- 22:41SPEAKER_02: And so much to think about and to just sit with.
- 22:55SPEAKER_02: We have both said in this episode, it you know to not rush, but to sit and well abide in Jesus and allow him to refresh us.
- 23:22SPEAKER_02: And so another verse in Psalms, Psalm one twenty-seven, verse two.
- 23:36SPEAKER_02: The end of that verse specifically.
- 23:43SPEAKER_02: Let me read the whole verse.
- 24:03SPEAKER_02: For so he giveth his beloved sleep.
- 24:17SPEAKER_02: But for this episode, I'm focusing on the last part of the verse.
- 24:28SPEAKER_02: So he gave us his beloved slave.
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: And I do believe that every Christian is part of that beloved.
- 24:43SPEAKER_02: And so that tells me that that is one of God's greatest desires to give each Christian sleep, genuine sleep, refreshing sleep.
- 25:06SPEAKER_02: And so a question I have.
- 26:11SPEAKER_02: So that your overnights are instead of restful, they're chaotic, they're seemingly never ending.
- 26:28SPEAKER_02: So what are you doing?
- 26:33SPEAKER_02: And what are you focusing on before you go to sleep each night?
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: And personally, I struggled for years with dreading the overnight because I was restless overnight.
- 27:14SPEAKER_02: I if I got to sleep I wasn't sleeping peacefully, or I would wake up and not be able to get back to sleep, or and I honestly don't know what to do to remedy that.
- 28:25SPEAKER_02: The most positive shift I've ever experienced.
- 28:36SPEAKER_02: Psalm one twenty-seven at the end of verse two I think it's a guarantee.
- 28:53SPEAKER_02: God wants it to be a guarantee.
- 29:03SPEAKER_02: That's not a guarantee to me.
- 29:12SPEAKER_02: How about you, Mickey?
- 29:15SPEAKER_02: What do you what are your thoughts on this?
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: Well, I know we're focusing on the more of the last of this verse, but um the whole verse is a good verse, but it's it's interesting when it says, you know, it is vain for you to to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrow.
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: I don't know how many times I've I myself have, instead of going and getting the rest that I knew I needed, stayed up and you know, watched two more hours of TV and ate a bowl of popcorn and not get alive, or munched on a bag of chips, or knowing that, even knowing, you know, and then having a schedule of having to get up early, you know, because we again, um, when we're talking about replenishing um that thirst, rest is part of that replenishment, and we deprive ourselves, you know.
- 30:10SPEAKER_00: So he he really talks a lot about sleep in the Bible, and it's amazing that we don't we don't adhere to it.
- 30:18SPEAKER_00: We we kind of just ignore it.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: It it's it's it's a very valuable principle that we need to we need to learn the concept of that rest is very important.
- 30:29SPEAKER_00: We're supposed to rest.
- 30:31SPEAKER_00: Like when you think of Mary and Martha, how how busy, busy, busy Martha was, and Mary just rested at Jesus' feet, and and Jesus said he's doing exactly what she should be doing, which is what Martha should have been doing.
- 30:45SPEAKER_00: But but you know, we are, you know, and and I found most of my life I was Martha.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: And I remember when I started to desire, I actually desired to be more like Mary because I felt exhausted and consumed and overwhelmed with so much weight of the world, and we're not supposed to be carrying around the weight of the world.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: And so as I, you know, in my own walk with the Lord and my own experiences, as I've um found myself struggling, I literally found myself desiring to be more like Mary.
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: And I know that we will get to this the story of Martha and Mary, you know, in another um series because it's a really good series to dive into.
- 31:30SPEAKER_00: But um, when we think about when I think of the word rest, I literally just envision Mary sitting at Jesus' feet, just resting in his presence.
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: And could you imagine being able to do that?
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: What a privilege it would be just to sit at Jesus' feet.
- 31:45SPEAKER_00: We we have no idea.
- 31:47SPEAKER_00: And I know he's not physically here now, physically in front of us, but he's here always.
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: He's always here.
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: So, you know, turning off the TV 10 minutes earlier than you would, you know, it it doesn't even have to be a lot of time.
- 32:05SPEAKER_00: But trying to take the worry from the day and the weight of the day and just and and just you know, get laying it at Jesus' feet and handing it over is something that we need to be doing.
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: Um excuse me personally, I don't I know that I don't do it enough.
- 32:23SPEAKER_00: And so this this message is like really convicted me today because I feel like really should be you know leaning more into what um what I already know to do, but I just I'm I haven't I'm not I'm I'm being absent-minded to it.
- 32:39SPEAKER_00: And we can get that way.
- 32:40SPEAKER_00: The the enemy can be distractive on so many levels.
- 32:44SPEAKER_00: And he he can use it, he can use people, he can use things, he can use money, he can use so many, he has so many tool ideas to get it twisted.
- 32:53SPEAKER_00: We just have to be very mindful and have to be careful.
- 32:55SPEAKER_00: And we have to go back and we have to get into the word.
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: And the word is what's gonna take us to where we belong, and that is in rest and in peace.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: And he wants to be that security blanket, like we said a little bit earlier.
- 33:08SPEAKER_00: So again, another great scripture.
- 33:10SPEAKER_00: I think that um I'm not gonna sit here and beat myself up for the nights that I sat on the couch for an extra two hours and watched a movie when I probably should have gone to bed, but at least I'm mindful of it now.
- 33:22SPEAKER_00: And it's a reminder, you know, what can I focus on?
- 33:25SPEAKER_00: What can I do?
- 33:25SPEAKER_00: And it's a and it's a great challenge to throw throw out that we even if it's just 10 minutes, 10 minutes earlier, get 10 more minutes of rest instead of pushing that, you know.
- 33:38SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we push, push, push because we want to have it all.
- 33:41SPEAKER_00: We want to get up early and we want to stay up and enjoy the nights and watch the movies and hang out with our friends or whatever we're doing.
- 33:47SPEAKER_00: And um sometimes we we we don't we don't need it all.
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: God knows we need the rest.
- 33:54SPEAKER_00: So we need to give ourselves that rest so that we can continue to thirst for for for God.
- 34:00SPEAKER_00: We need to be thirsty for God and not so many other things.
- 34:03SPEAKER_00: So great scripture.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: This scripture is really, really good.
- 34:09SPEAKER_02: Yes, and just three more passages that we'll be looking at for this episode.
- 34:21SPEAKER_02: But this next verse ties in somewhat into the benefits of that sleep.
- 34:39SPEAKER_02: And so in Proverbs chapter three and verse twenty-fours when thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid.
- 35:05SPEAKER_03: Thou shalt lie down and thy sleep shall be sweet first in that says thou shalt not be afraid.
- 35:32SPEAKER_02: So let me ask.
- 35:34SPEAKER_02: How many times are you afraid?
- 35:45SPEAKER_02: Maybe not initially when you lay down and try to get to sleep.
- 35:56SPEAKER_02: But when you can't hour after hour after hour, or you can get to sleep, but something wakes you up.
- 36:17SPEAKER_02: Something that makes you maybe afraid.
- 36:21SPEAKER_02: What do you do then?
- 36:25SPEAKER_02: I know there have been times previous years there have been times where I've been fearful and I didn't know what to do.
- 36:58SPEAKER_02: It is a very real thing that fear.
- 37:04SPEAKER_02: But where does fear come from?
- 37:08SPEAKER_02: Fear does not come from God.
- 37:14SPEAKER_02: Remember, Satan doesn't take time off.
- 37:22SPEAKER_02: That's why we need to make it a habit of verbally asking or thanking God for restraining Satan.
- 37:42SPEAKER_02: I do believe there's so much power in there.
- 37:47SPEAKER_02: Now maybe you say, well, doesn't God do that already?
- 37:55SPEAKER_02: Yes, good to a degree, and yet how often do we forget that?
- 38:05SPEAKER_02: Um that's why I personally strongly believe that verbally thanking God for his protection and for restraining Satan, either during the day or overnight, is fatal because that is part, at least, of what can make our sleep sweet when we are resting in the knowledge that yes, God is protecting us and yes, he is restraining Satan over us.
- 39:09SPEAKER_02: So much.
- 39:11SPEAKER_02: So much in this verse.
- 39:16SPEAKER_02: Not being afraid, and having sleep that is sweet.
- 39:26SPEAKER_02: I don't know about you, but for me that is one of the greatest comforts that there is.
- 39:41SPEAKER_02: And that comes from God.
- 39:44SPEAKER_02: And so, Mikey, do you have thoughts on this?
- 39:50SPEAKER_00: This is a proverb that that reminds us that trusting God's wisdom, if we trust in God's wisdom, he's gonna bring us the courage and the peaceful so that we have untroubled rest.
- 40:03SPEAKER_00: Our rest will not be troubled if we if we um seek out God's wisdom and courage.
- 40:08SPEAKER_00: And that's what what the Bible is all about, you know.
- 40:12SPEAKER_00: All throughout the Word of God, through the Proverbs, through Romans, through all of these scriptures, from start to finish, God's wisdom will bring the courage and the peace, so we don't have to be afraid.
- 40:25SPEAKER_00: I don't I don't um specifically have a lot of fear when I go to sleep, but I do have I do when I remember being, you know, especially when I was younger, um being scared of the dark, and you know, when I was younger and stuff, and and realizing I didn't I didn't need to be afraid.
- 40:42SPEAKER_00: And I went to a camp one year and they made us do a night hike in the dark, and it was in a and it was dark.
- 40:48SPEAKER_00: It was like very dark in the mountains, you know, there was no city lights or anything.
- 40:53SPEAKER_00: And we all had flashlights lights, but we weren't allowed to use them, and they would, they would, they would have one person walk way down this path on this dark path with no light on, and then one at a time we would have to go to that person in the dark.
- 41:10SPEAKER_00: And I remember I heard more noises in that little stretch of log than I heard the entire trip, I think.
- 41:17SPEAKER_00: Like every little cricket, every little croak of a frog, every little drop of water was right by the lake.
- 41:22SPEAKER_00: Like I swear like it, I thought I heard the fish coming up, you know.
- 41:25SPEAKER_00: I heard so much noise because I was so in tuned to the darkness.
- 41:31SPEAKER_00: I intuned my ears because I was trying to get my eyes to focus, but I couldn't because it was dark.
- 41:37SPEAKER_00: So I intuned my ears into listening, and I remember listening to that person stepping all the way out there, and I was trying to count how many steps they took.
- 41:47SPEAKER_00: So that way if I got scared, I would just count my steps and how many steps it would take for me to get to that person.
- 41:52SPEAKER_00: Like I had so many things going through my mind, but I didn't want anybody else around me to know how scared I was because I was afraid, and I didn't know if they how how afraid or unafraid they weren't because we were all acting like we were tough, you know, as kids.
- 42:04SPEAKER_00: We're just we're just we're tough.
- 42:05SPEAKER_00: We we're not afraid.
- 42:07SPEAKER_00: But I know that a lot of us, some of us were terrified, but I just remember thinking in that short distance at nighttime, being afraid, trying to pay attention to all of the things around me.
- 42:22SPEAKER_00: Even though it was just one, it was just a stretch of of steps that that person was waiting for me on the other side.
- 42:30SPEAKER_00: Just knowing that was a comfort for me.
- 42:32SPEAKER_00: Just knowing that there is somebody on the other side.
- 42:35SPEAKER_00: Now, if they were to try to, you know, play jokes and go hide in the bushes and not be there when we got there, then that would have been a different story, I think.
- 42:43SPEAKER_00: But God's waiting, He's there.
- 42:46SPEAKER_00: There's no re there's nothing to be afraid of throughout all of the noises and any distractions or whatever.
- 42:53SPEAKER_00: God is still waiting right there for us.
- 42:55SPEAKER_00: You know, and I thought I think about that.
- 42:57SPEAKER_00: And I remember ever since that night hike, I was never afraid of the dark ever again.
- 43:02SPEAKER_00: I wasn't ever afraid again, you know, because I seem a different different, I see the darkness in a different perspective.
- 43:09SPEAKER_00: And so I don't really have a lot of fear when I go to sleep, but um, unless I'm worried about someone or you know, maybe something that might be happening um sometimes.
- 43:18SPEAKER_00: But I try not to go to go to sleep afraid.
- 43:24SPEAKER_00: But wanting to have that sweet sleep is is always so nice, you know, just to feel really rested.
- 43:31SPEAKER_00: And when I wake up three, four, five times in the middle of the night, and then I have to get up the next morning and I'm just not rested, you know.
- 43:38SPEAKER_00: I feel like um if I go to bed with too much on my mind, it wakes me up.
- 43:43SPEAKER_00: You know, it it comes into my consciousness.
- 43:46SPEAKER_00: And we need to just trust God that his wisdom and and the courage that he gives us and the peace that he pours upon us, if we just allow him to let us be at rest.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: our rest won't be so troubled.
- 44:02SPEAKER_00: It'll be so much better.
- 44:03SPEAKER_00: We need to be reminded constantly that trusting God's wisdom wisdom is going to bring that courage.
- 44:09SPEAKER_00: We do not have to be afraid.
- 44:11SPEAKER_00: And we can just we can just get some really good sleep.
- 44:14SPEAKER_00: And then we're going to wake up and we're going to we will think it's really sweet.
- 44:17SPEAKER_00: You know, when you get that really good night's sleep, that's how we feel like man, that was great, you know?
- 44:23SPEAKER_00: So as we're looking at these scriptures on um resting, I think that it's important that we remember that even if sometimes we forget, like if you wake up in the middle of the night and you have forgotten to to lay your burdens down before you go to bed, just remember he's still waiting there.
- 44:42SPEAKER_00: He's still there.
- 44:43SPEAKER_00: You can do it anytime.
- 44:44SPEAKER_00: If you forget to do it right when you go to bed, do it when you wake up in the middle of the night and see if that starts changing things for you.
- 44:51SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I've had to pray to God at two, three o'clock in the morning, you know, because I'm awake.
- 44:56SPEAKER_00: So um sometimes I think if God wakes me up there must be a reason you know that I'm waking up.
- 45:01SPEAKER_00: So maybe there's a reason.
- 45:02SPEAKER_00: So I just, you know, I'll pray to God but um if it's sleep that I'm really needing then I'm praying to God he lets me go right back to sleep.
- 45:09SPEAKER_00: I will pray that too.
- 45:10SPEAKER_00: So um it's good and it's important to get rest and to have peaceful rest.
- 45:15SPEAKER_00: He doesn't want us to be troubled.
- 45:17SPEAKER_00: That's why we need to lay our our our you know lay lay our burdens down it says in the scripture lay your burdens down so that we have untroubled rest.
- 45:26SPEAKER_00: So this is another really good scripture on that too.
- 45:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:33SPEAKER_02: So now we are going to look at two examples both examples are from the Lord using dreams to encourage to motivate people toward himself and yet let's notice just the descriptions that these two people one is Nebuchadnezzar and the other one is Job and so let's look at Daniel chapter one I'm sorry Daniel chapter two Daniel chapter two verse number one says and in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams wherewith his spirit was troubled and his sleep and then um notice right now as well um Daniel chapter four and verse number five is giving a um another description of his dreams and so Daniel four and verse number five this is Nebuchadnezzar speaking verse five I saw a dream which made me afraid and the thoughts upon my bed and the visions of my head troubled me and those two verses I know circumstances are different from what he experienced to what we experience but let me ask have you ever been in a situation or situations where your dreams troubled you or um made you afraid or how did you handle those were you able to get back to sleep or did those make you cause you to be awake all night because of just how intense they were now like I say these dreams and visions that Nebuchadnezzar had I believe they were from God meant to help Nebuchadnezzar see his need for God.
- 50:26SPEAKER_00: God wasn't doing this to drive Nebuchadnezzar away I believe he was doing it to draw him closer Nebuchadnezzar closer to himself This is just one example of someone whose dreams and visions overnight troubled him made him afraid probably terrified him so be encouraged because the same God who who helped Nebuchadnezzar and who helped Job is the same God today that can help any of us all we have to do is pray and I don't want that to sound like that's too simple because it's not God desires for us to come to him remember what Jesus said in Matthew eleven twenty eight come unto me and how many times is come referenced in the Bible that tells me it's important that tells me that God is truly deservous of us to come to him no matter when no matter where he's ready he's listening are we calling to him and so Mickey do you have thoughts on these verses I know that for myself personally um when I was younger I had a dream that I had repetitiously it was a continue a dream it was the same dream but there was one small detail that would change and it was an interesting dream because I wasn't sure if I'd if it was actually a dream or if that if it actually happened because it was so vivid in my mind right and it was a dream that my mom and I and my brother we went to look at an apartment with a friend of hers that was telling us about this apartment that we were going to go look at.
- 53:50SPEAKER_00: And me and my brother were little kids we were running around we pulled up in the garage went in the garage door into the apartment and in the corner of the apartment the apartment was empty but in the corner of the apartment was a macrame plant hanger my mom used to do macrame.
- 54:06SPEAKER_00: But every time I had the dream it was a different color it was weird.
- 54:10SPEAKER_00: It could be black or yellow or red or green or whatever right always the same size always the same exact hanger but just a different color and I remember thinking to myself this is a strange thing to have this dream over and over and over and over again you know but have one detail change.
- 54:26SPEAKER_00: But the rest of it was the same me and my brother would run around we'd play hide and seek we'd get in the closets in the cupboards we'd go up and down the stairs while my mom was checking out the apartment because we were we were young.
- 54:36SPEAKER_00: I was probably five five years old maybe four or five and I was young and I and I I still to this day can remember the exact dream exactly to the T because I had up until I was about 12 the same dream.
- 54:50SPEAKER_00: Finally I I thought well I wonder if if if this event in my in my life happened like this really did happen.
- 54:57SPEAKER_00: I'm thinking was it a dream or did it wasn't was it an actual event and so I finally asked my mom about it.
- 55:06SPEAKER_00: And I said do you remember a time did we ever go look at an apartment with her friend and I I even know the name of her friend.
- 55:12SPEAKER_00: I mean I know every single detail and like I said I was only like four years old um maybe five and she said yeah we actually did do that and I said well it's kind of weird because I keep having this dream about it but the only thing different is the plant hanger is a different color.
- 55:29SPEAKER_00: She's like well there wasn't a plant hanger in there it was empty I mean it was just something that my mind added to the dream.
- 55:35SPEAKER_00: It was kind of weird.
- 55:36SPEAKER_00: But here's the strange thing once I talked to my mom about it and it was just a there was nothing nothing bad happened.
- 55:45SPEAKER_00: It wasn't like a you know there was nothing scary there's no trauma not nothing you know I mean like I said my brother and I were playing we were just looking at a new apartment that we were going to move into and and I don't know why I had the dream for so many years over and over again.
- 55:59SPEAKER_00: But the moment I told my mom about it I never had it again.
- 56:03SPEAKER_00: Not once and it was it was weird.
- 56:07SPEAKER_00: It was almost like a conversation that needed to take place with me and my mom at that age for me because I was 12.
- 56:14SPEAKER_00: And she said she was surprised I re I I remember doing that and going there because of how young I was and I said yeah I remember we were having fun and she said yeah you and your brother were playing hide and seek you know and uh it's just kind of a funny story because that's the name of my book is hide and seek the one that I'm writing about.
- 56:31SPEAKER_00: And so it made me think about you know the you know these dreams and these prophecies and stuff and it's like what was you know what was the point to the dream wasn't really a point to it um other than the fact that my mom um was kind of impressed that I could remember a memory first from such a young age.
- 56:53SPEAKER_00: You know she's like that you were really young when that happened.
- 56:56SPEAKER_00: And I I don't know how you remember such in such great detail.
- 56:59SPEAKER_00: I remembered everything the color of the apartment the color of the car we I mean every single detail.
- 57:05SPEAKER_00: And um so sometimes you know when we get dreams they're not always they're not always bad or terrifying but they make you go hmm wonder what that's all about.
- 57:17SPEAKER_00: And it wasn't like I like I said until I asked my mom about it that did the dream stop coming to my mind.
- 57:22SPEAKER_00: And I always wondered why about that.
- 57:25SPEAKER_00: I don't know the answer to that honestly because God allows us to have dreams you know and allows us to uh see things and have um prophetic thoughts and you can even have prophetic thoughts um without being asleep by the way for those of you that don't know that um dreams you can you there are such things as daydreams you know they are true you can have daydreams you can have a prophetic dream in the middle of the day and um I have not had too many prophetic dreams in my my lifetime but I have had a few and when they come to you I will tell you this when it when God is speaking to you prophetically it it is clear as day it is clear as clear can be there is no confusion no chaos and it's very straight to the point.
- 58:12SPEAKER_00: If you are listening to someone who's given you a prophetic dream and they can't keep their own story straight then it's not prophetic.
- 58:19SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna tell you that right now it's probably hogwash not not to try to call or you know you know dismantle anybody but in all honesty God doesn't play around like that he he is very direct and he's very straightforward he has no reason to to um to do any of that so your dreams when you if you have these dreams they are they can't they are very real.
- 58:41SPEAKER_00: Now the enemy also can provoke us with dreams we have to be very careful.
- 58:46SPEAKER_00: If you have you you're having dreams that are very disturbing and distressing um it would be a really good idea to pray about that that dream and and and seek out God's wisdom on it to find out what it is especially if you're thinking that it's a prophecy you might want to pray about it.
- 59:04SPEAKER_00: If you're unsure about it being prophetic more than likely if you have doubt in it being a prophetic dream then it probably is not prophetic.
- 59:12SPEAKER_00: I would just be careful um with that and I've always um I've talked to some people because the um in the end times they say there's a lot of um false prophecies and we have to be really careful because we can have dreams that I think the enemy can detour us into and they can corrupt us.
- 59:31SPEAKER_00: So that's why we need to be really reading the word of God and that's why I like that you're talking about this dream of Nebuchadnezzar and what what he did.
- 59:39SPEAKER_00: He went and he got interpretation just like when we speak in tongues you're supposed to have interpretation and it's a really good idea if you think you have a prophetic dream go get interpretation from your pastor or someone who you know who is biblically sound within the word of God because they can help you if you are not 100% sure if it's prophetic or not.
- 59:59SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I think God is going to clearly tell you this is a prophetic dream and this is what you need to go do.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_00: And there won't be another question about it.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_00: You'll just go do it.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_00: I think God will give you that direction as well.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_00: But if you're you are doubting any type of dreams that I think it is really a good idea to to get interpretation because um it talks a lot about interpretation in the Bible making sure that you're you're getting things um um like it's like seeking out wise counsel basically when you when you think about it so and also like when you're having these dreams um it's important that in order to get fully rested if these are the dream if you're having dreams like this constantly um you might be harboring something that um my alarm I thought I was turned off um there you might be harboring something that you may not even know that you're harboring that God wants you to get wants you to release.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_00: So sometimes when you have dreams it's something that you need to be getting rid of like you said in the very first scripture don't let the sun go down.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_00: And um if you think about it sometimes they keep resurfacing because we haven't you haven't been able to let something go.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_00: So just pray about it.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_00: I mean the the best counsel I can give you the best interpretation I could give you the best anything I could give you is to take it to the Word of God and and pray about it.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_00: And I know Bethany's going to share with you what she has done for herself um over the last eight months that has really helped her and we have um we had an episode on it actually you can go back and and and um watch that episode on it and it's really important that um just test it for yourself.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_00: Challenge yourself see if it works for yourself.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_00: Seek God out and um pray and Bethany I'll let you finish sharing that's that story so they understand kind of like what you did and how you did it and how it like you said how it's been working for you.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_02: Yes yes before I do that um let's look at Job Job chapter seven and verses fourteen and fifteen and these these two verses are within a group of verses where Job is talking and if you are familiar with um the experience of Job then you will I believe better understand why he is saying what he is in these two verses.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_02: And so let's look at them verse fourteen again this is Joe speaking and now scares me with dreams and terrify terrifies terrifies me through visit visions.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_02: My apologies it's hard for me to say some of these words fifteen so that my soul chooses strangling and death rather than my life well those those two verses right there are pretty descriptive of what Job experience again that causes me to ask can you relate obviously not with the same circumstances with your own circumstances can you relate to what Joe is talking about when he said that he would choose strangling and that causes me to think about people who have taken their life not to get off on that, but Job's situation and that time sounded very similar.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_02: I do think it's wise to remember Job chapter two when Satan came to God.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_02: No, we I don't think we should speculate on why.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_02: God gave Satan the permission that he did.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_02: But nevertheless, God did give Satan permission to do what he did.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_02: But we also see in chapter two, God also gave Satan a stop when he said to save his life to not take his life.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_02: And so getting back to um our verses Job seven, fourteen and fifteen, when Job is talking about his dreams and visions.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_02: Be completely honest with God.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_02: He wants you to be honest with him.
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_02: Before I go to sleep each night.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_02: One for his protection overnight and for restraining Satan overnight.
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_02: Not just over myself either.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_02: But also over the house I live in.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_02: Putting shields, divine shields around myself and the house, and I do that each morning too.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_02: Verbally thanking God for his protection during the day and for restraining Satan during the day.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_02: Yes, I do believe those are two things that God automatically does.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_02: He gives us his protection and he restrains Satan.
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_02: Yet, like I mentioned, how often do we forget?
- 1:11:37SPEAKER_02: And how quickly do we forget?
- 1:11:48SPEAKER_02: Remember?
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_02: Satan He seems to know.
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_02: I do believe that when we don't do things that God wants us to do to help our mind.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_02: Remember.
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_02: And you know, maybe Satan sees that and says, Oh good.
- 1:12:28SPEAKER_02: They didn't thank God for restraining me, so here I go.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_02: I'm not saying it's what Satan always does.
- 1:12:46SPEAKER_02: But you know, maybe maybe he does.
- 1:12:51SPEAKER_02: Maybe he is that watchful.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_02: I mean Satan is not omnipresent.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_02: We see that recorded in Job one.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_02: Satan has has to go to and fro.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_02: So he's he's not omnipresent.
- 1:13:24SPEAKER_02: Isn't it interesting?
- 1:13:28SPEAKER_02: He seems to know when to attack and what to attack us with.
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_02: And so that's what I do.
- 1:13:43SPEAKER_02: And like I said, it's helped so much.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_02: I get to sleep faster than I did before.
- 1:14:07SPEAKER_02: I get back to sleep faster than I did before.
- 1:14:13SPEAKER_02: Before I started dreamless.
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_02: And so I encourage you, before you go to sleep tonight, thank God for his protection.
- 1:14:26SPEAKER_02: Verbally and verbally thank him for restraining Satan.
- 1:14:34SPEAKER_02: And also thank God for the sleep he will allow you to have overnight.
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_02: And then as time goes on, see if that makes a difference.
- 1:15:00SPEAKER_02: If you're struggling right now with sleep.
- 1:15:06SPEAKER_02: Start that.
- 1:15:08SPEAKER_02: See if that makes a difference.
- 1:15:14SPEAKER_02: Like I say it.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_02: It was almost immediate for me that I started seeing a difference.
- 1:15:24SPEAKER_02: And so having a thirst for sleep.
- 1:15:50SPEAKER_02: Because Satan doesn't take time, like we've said.
- 1:15:58SPEAKER_02: And so I trust that this has been beneficial.
- 1:16:11SPEAKER_02: I trust that the Holy Spirit has spoken to you as your individual situation, your individual life.
- 1:16:29SPEAKER_02: Does need do you have final thoughts?
- 1:16:41SPEAKER_00: No, I'm just as we wrap up today.
- 1:16:43SPEAKER_00: I was thinking back to Ephesians 4.26 that you that we started with today.
- 1:16:48SPEAKER_00: And I was thinking about how as humans we're we're going to experience, it's it's normal for us to experience anger and and human emotions.
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_00: Um but I I I know that Ephesians warns us against letting it fester and turn into bitterness.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_00: And and and because that bitterness is what takes us into sin when we get to that stretch.
- 1:17:13SPEAKER_00: Now I know for Job, Job was a great story.
- 1:17:16SPEAKER_00: Um when I read it, I was in shock, honestly, because of just how much pain and agony he was in.
- 1:17:28SPEAKER_00: He he that scripture you you shared was him describing the depth of his physical and emotional agony that he was actually going through, that he would prefer suffering, um, you know, he'd rather die than to suffer any more of that pain.
- 1:17:42SPEAKER_00: So Satan literally took him to the very, very last stretch that he had left for him to feel that much agony on himself.
- 1:17:52SPEAKER_00: It was so intense, especially that, you know, during the night.
- 1:17:56SPEAKER_00: And I remember the story where where I think it was three, the three friends, they kept asking him, Well, you must have done something wrong for this to be happening.
- 1:18:06SPEAKER_00: Remember that they asked him.
- 1:18:09SPEAKER_00: And he said, I didn't, I didn't do anything to deserve this.
- 1:18:12SPEAKER_00: I don't understand.
- 1:18:13SPEAKER_00: And I remember Job getting mad at God and saying, I do not understand why you're doing this to me.
- 1:18:18SPEAKER_00: You know, I don't get it.
- 1:18:19SPEAKER_00: And it made me feel um better because there were times where I had those same thoughts and conversations with God where I questioned God what he's doing in my life, you know.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_00: But again, back to Ephesians, we are we are human.
- 1:18:37SPEAKER_00: We are not we are not um supernaturally mortal.
- 1:18:41SPEAKER_00: We're not mortal yet.
- 1:18:42SPEAKER_00: You know, we're not going to be either because of Adam and Eve, we're not going to be mortal.
- 1:18:46SPEAKER_00: We are going to die.
- 1:18:48SPEAKER_00: Everyone will die on this earth and go to heaven, hopefully, and um then we get an up, then we'll have the opportunity to be mortal for the rest of our for etern, excuse me, eternity.
- 1:19:00SPEAKER_00: But I I I like Ephesians when it it lets us know that um people do get angry and people do sin, but God tells us what to do with that anger and that sin.
- 1:19:13SPEAKER_00: Just like Job had to do that with his anger and hit, you know, he didn't sin, but he was ain't he was angry for how much pain he was in.
- 1:19:20SPEAKER_00: He didn't think it was fair to be in that much pain and still be alive to live through it.
- 1:19:25SPEAKER_00: And um, I don't know if anybody's ever dealt with that kind of pain where you've been in so much pain that you just wish God would just come and take you.
- 1:19:33SPEAKER_00: You know, just let me be done.
- 1:19:34SPEAKER_00: I'm done.
- 1:19:35SPEAKER_00: I just I that's enough, I'm done.
- 1:19:38SPEAKER_00: Um it makes me think of Judas when he sent.
- 1:19:43SPEAKER_00: He fell so deep into sin, you know, the greed and and and whatnot that he he fell into.
- 1:19:48SPEAKER_00: And he walked side by side with Jesus with the master.
- 1:19:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, I just I couldn't imagine the betrayal, you know, I couldn't imagine it.
- 1:19:57SPEAKER_00: But again, he's a human being.
- 1:19:59SPEAKER_00: We are made um inhuman, you know, to have air in our lives.
- 1:20:04SPEAKER_00: And I think about this scripture and how we need to be, we need to be more thirsty for God more than ever than we ever have been before.
- 1:20:15SPEAKER_00: And because we are human, I think we really should have more desire to want to be really thirsty for God, you know, because he is going to, like I, like, like was mentioned earlier in Psalms um um 4-8, um, he is our comforter.
- 1:20:36SPEAKER_00: He wants to comfort us, even when we're angry, even when we're sinning, even when we're in pain, even if we're discouraged or afraid.
- 1:20:44SPEAKER_00: All of the things that we talked about today, God wants to help you through all of it.
- 1:20:49SPEAKER_00: He doesn't want you to feel like any of it you can't take to him.
- 1:20:53SPEAKER_00: You could take every single bit of it to him.
- 1:20:56SPEAKER_00: And I know for myself, um, you know, as I as I shared with Bethany before we started recording, you know, there's some things in life that can get frustrating and can get you down.
- 1:21:07SPEAKER_00: And it's hard to fathom how do you how do you get over certain circumstances sometimes.
- 1:21:12SPEAKER_00: And it's it's great to have you know a person to talk to, but the one person that we always can always talk to 100% is God.
- 1:21:20SPEAKER_00: And he's never he's never gonna let us down.
- 1:21:23SPEAKER_00: He's he's always there to listen to us.
- 1:21:25SPEAKER_00: Now, the thing I want to mention about that is a lot of times we are really good at giving God the conversation, but we're not really good at listening to God respond.
- 1:21:37SPEAKER_00: And I dropped the ball so many times on this, I just I would throw down my words to God and be like, God, what are you doing?
- 1:21:43SPEAKER_00: You know?
- 1:21:45SPEAKER_00: Or, you know, God, I'm praying for this or I'm praying for that or whatever.
- 1:21:50SPEAKER_00: Sometimes God wants us to be quiet and listen.
- 1:21:53SPEAKER_00: Wants us just to be quiet and listen.
- 1:21:55SPEAKER_00: Pray about it and then sit at his feet for a little bit and just just meditate on it, meditate on his word and listen.
- 1:22:02SPEAKER_00: Let him speak to you through the word.
- 1:22:04SPEAKER_00: He will, he will and has spoken to me through the word of God.
- 1:22:08SPEAKER_00: He has shown me so much in the Bible that um I'm not a scholar.
- 1:22:13SPEAKER_00: Yes, I went to school, you know, I went into the ministry a couple of times.
- 1:22:17SPEAKER_00: I, you know, um bachelor's, you know, masters like Bethany and I are doing, but um, associates, um, other degrees that I've gotten, certificates.
- 1:22:26SPEAKER_00: I'm not a scholar in the Bible.
- 1:22:29SPEAKER_00: Um, I have a really hard time remembering addresses, verses, chapters.
- 1:22:33SPEAKER_00: I could tell you probably what book it's probably in, but I couldn't tell you exactly where.
- 1:22:37SPEAKER_00: Um, but God has shown me so much through his word that it's it's it would be impossible to ever doubt him for me.
- 1:22:49SPEAKER_00: And and I know Bethany, and and my hope for everyone listening and watching is that you have that same desire that you would never ever ever waver on doubting who God is in your life because that there's so much power.
- 1:23:04SPEAKER_00: He he just he won't and he wants so much for us.
- 1:23:07SPEAKER_00: And the word of God is full of so many promises that he wants us to have, but he can't give us those promises if we're not mature enough to handle them.
- 1:23:17SPEAKER_00: And the way that we get mature is we start thirsting for who God is.
- 1:23:22SPEAKER_00: When you start getting thirsty for God, God's gonna start pouring out his promises.
- 1:23:27SPEAKER_00: I guarantee you and I challenge you again, try it.
- 1:23:31SPEAKER_00: When you go to bed tonight, lay it all down, give it to God, say, God, whatever it is, you can have it.
- 1:23:36SPEAKER_00: It's all even if you don't know what it is, you don't even have to know.
- 1:23:40SPEAKER_00: God knows.
- 1:23:41SPEAKER_00: And the enemy, I love that you're talking about the enemy because God gave the enemy reign over the world, over the earth.
- 1:23:48SPEAKER_00: I mean, not the you know, and so the enemy has just been having a filled day out there, you know, and he knows and and is is so practiced up on what to do and how to do it and when to show up.
- 1:24:03SPEAKER_00: And all we have to do is act or say a certain thing out loud, and the enemy knows.
- 1:24:10SPEAKER_00: He can't hear our thoughts, but he hears what we say out loud.
- 1:24:13SPEAKER_00: So he can't get into our minds like God can, but he does know what he's doing, and he's way, way, way, way more experienced than we could ever even understand because God gave him that ability.
- 1:24:26SPEAKER_00: God actually gave him that ability, and that's where he gave us free will to decide what we want to choose and how we want to behave and how we want to be obedient or whatever in our life.
- 1:24:35SPEAKER_00: And and it's a walk, you have to walk it out.
- 1:24:38SPEAKER_00: No one's gonna do it perfectly.
- 1:24:40SPEAKER_00: But God wants to help you, he wants to help you all the way, and he wants to have that relationship with you.
- 1:24:44SPEAKER_00: It's a personal relationship that you have with Christ.
- 1:24:47SPEAKER_00: And one time I heard someone say the only sin that there ever will be above any other sin is not to believe in Jesus Christ as your savior.
- 1:24:59SPEAKER_00: Because without that, you have nothing.
- 1:25:02SPEAKER_00: You have nothing at all.
- 1:25:04SPEAKER_00: And a lot of people will pick pick people apart based off from other people's what people do in their lives and their sin.
- 1:25:12SPEAKER_00: The one sin I I hope that you you focus on is who's your savior.
- 1:25:19SPEAKER_00: You should thirst after your savor, after your savior.
- 1:25:23SPEAKER_00: He's he's gonna help you so you're not you're not so dehydrated, you know, that you're just parched.
- 1:25:30SPEAKER_00: He he wants you to be, he wants you to be quenched, and he wants you to be rested, and he wants you to be nourished.
- 1:25:36SPEAKER_00: And he wants you to do that, and he helps you do that, not on a physical level, but on a spiritual level.
- 1:25:42SPEAKER_00: And it's so much higher than you'll ever imagine.
- 1:25:46SPEAKER_00: But sometimes you have to work on some of the physical aspects in your life before you can get to the spiritual because we have to mature.
- 1:25:53SPEAKER_00: We have to be at a mature level in our life in order to get to that spiritualness.
- 1:25:58SPEAKER_00: So great scripture today.
- 1:26:00SPEAKER_00: Everything was wonderful, lots of um, lots of stuff to talk about, but it's a good idea to practice what Bethany said tonight.
- 1:26:09SPEAKER_00: Try it.
- 1:26:09SPEAKER_00: Try it tonight, try it in the morning.
- 1:26:11SPEAKER_00: Um, pray and ask God for his his ultimate protection over us.
- 1:26:17SPEAKER_00: He he is the security blanket.
- 1:26:20SPEAKER_00: And he wants to he wants to cover us with that protection.
- 1:26:23SPEAKER_00: Ask him for it.
- 1:26:24SPEAKER_00: Ask him to help the enemy stay at bay.
- 1:26:27SPEAKER_00: And um, so with that, I just want to close this out in prayer and again say thank you to Bethany because she's brought some great scripture.
- 1:26:34SPEAKER_00: And hopefully, for those of you that are listening, that um um, like we've said numerous times, you don't have to take our word for it.
- 1:26:43SPEAKER_00: The word, we're gonna share the word for what it is, we're gonna say what it is.
- 1:26:47SPEAKER_00: Just go in and just meditate on it and read it for yourself and see what, see, see what God can do with you through it.
- 1:26:54SPEAKER_00: He may have a different um outlook for you than what he may have for me, you know.
- 1:27:00SPEAKER_00: Um, he created us individually, he did not create us to be the same.
- 1:27:04SPEAKER_00: And like I always say, you know, be you because you know I'm already taken.
- 1:27:09SPEAKER_00: You can't be me.
- 1:27:10SPEAKER_00: So so be who God created you to be.
- 1:27:13SPEAKER_00: But anyway, let's pray and um just let's be thankful for for what God has given us.
- 1:27:18SPEAKER_00: Father God, Lord, we thank you for this episode, um, part five of helping us to just have the desire to thirst for you, God.
- 1:27:27SPEAKER_00: And we just ask you just be within reach of everyone that's listening, Lord, and help this message to go out to those that are that are in need of it, Lord.
- 1:27:35SPEAKER_00: And Lord, I just pray that your scripture just reaches hearts and our minds and our souls, Lord, that that we could just glorify you and everything that you have given us.
- 1:27:43SPEAKER_00: You've given us everything that we need.
- 1:27:45SPEAKER_00: And Lord, forgive us for not always um remembering that all we have to do is is think on you and and uh and just trust you, God, and and just come boldly to you, as your word says.
- 1:27:55SPEAKER_00: Lord, we thank you for the scripture.
- 1:27:57SPEAKER_00: I thank you for Bethany and and all of her due diligence in um seeking you out in this message today, God.
- 1:28:03SPEAKER_00: And Lord, I just pray that you just watch over everyone, keep everyone safe, um, help everyone um stay safe in whatever inclement weather that everyone is facing, whether hot or rainy or cold or what where whatever and wherever.
- 1:28:18SPEAKER_00: Um there's a lot going on in the world today, Lord.
- 1:28:20SPEAKER_00: We just ask for your protection and your guidance.
- 1:28:22SPEAKER_00: And we just thank you and we love you, and we just want to give you all the glory.
- 1:28:25SPEAKER_00: In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
- 1:28:28SPEAKER_00: So great, great message today.
- 1:28:31SPEAKER_00: Um, if you have any questions, make sure you just hit hit us up.
- 1:28:34SPEAKER_00: Um, our information is in the show notes.
- 1:28:37SPEAKER_00: Make sure you also like, follow, and share.
- 1:28:39SPEAKER_00: Um share the message with somebody else.
- 1:28:41SPEAKER_00: It's it's always if if you don't know how to share the gospel, all you have to do is share the link.
- 1:28:46SPEAKER_00: We'll do it for you.
- 1:28:47SPEAKER_00: We will share the gospel for you.
- 1:28:49SPEAKER_00: So just send them the link.
- 1:28:50SPEAKER_00: If you're if you're uncomfortable with just telling somebody how to how to how to get to the word, just send them our our link and we'll we'll share the word with them.
- 1:28:58SPEAKER_00: So uh don't be afraid to do that.
- 1:29:00SPEAKER_00: And Bethany, thank you again for all of the great scripture you brought.
- 1:29:03SPEAKER_00: Um, do you have any last words you want to say before we close out?
- 1:29:07SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:29:08SPEAKER_00: Okay, everyone.
- 1:29:09SPEAKER_00: I hope you you have a great evening and y'all take care and be safe out there, whatever the whatever weather weather increments you're going through right now, just be really be safe and be careful.
- 1:29:18SPEAKER_00: We love you guys and God bless you.
