- 0:04Speaker 2: Hester and Hester got it fine on a pod.
- 0:07Speaker 1: From carrying each other to and Natty to carrying each
- 0:10Speaker 1: other on the air live from the Raising Kine studio.
- 0:18Speaker 3: It's off the bench, all right, Welcome back off the Bench,

- 0:40Speaker 3: you tuning in. If you're just joining the show, welcome.
- 0:44Speaker 3: If you have been listening, we appreciate you. You're tuning
- 0:46Speaker 3: in all morning, say whether you're driving going to work,
- 0:49Speaker 3: driving to a workout, maybe maybe you're stop behind a train,
- 0:53Speaker 3: who really knows, whatever it is, we appreciate, We appreciate
- 0:56Speaker 3: the time, and we appreciate you joining the show. We
- 0:58Speaker 3: got the tripod rocking right now, the o G travel
- 1:02Speaker 3: at home.
- 1:02Speaker 2: This feels, this feels the last couple of weeks have
- 1:06Speaker 2: not been.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just like it's familiar. And we are very
- 1:11Speaker 3: thankful to all the people that have stepped in for Taylor,
- 1:14Speaker 3: stepped in for myself and I was gone, and thanks
- 1:16Speaker 3: you Chris for jumping in for Jake, and and we
- 1:20Speaker 3: uh into summer. People are traveling, people are doing different things.
- 1:24Speaker 3: People are having children, people are having babies everywhere. I
- 1:29Speaker 3: can't get those takes.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Looking back on it, pretty convenient time actually, sports wise.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it's not a lot going on. That's actually
- 1:37Speaker 3: pretty good time. Not really convenient for like me with
- 1:40Speaker 3: Jake being gone and you know, you know, you can
- 1:43Speaker 3: talk about anything for hours, like not a lot of
- 1:46Speaker 3: sports to talk about, you just missing.
- 1:48Speaker 5: So yeah, convenient time for you and not for us.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, pal, I mean relas.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Philibuster, like Taylor, nurses heard it, guys, it's fun.
- 2:01Speaker 3: I'm sure the nurses know what's going to be happening.
- 2:05Speaker 3: I didn't.
- 2:06Speaker 4: I didn't get to pop off to anybody, really, I
- 2:08Speaker 4: was I was depressed a little bit.
- 2:11Speaker 3: For those of you that are like, you know, listening
- 2:13Speaker 3: out there, like I can't believe that, you know, I
- 2:16Speaker 3: don't talk about like the hard hitting news and stuff
- 2:18Speaker 3: like that about what's going on we're on LSU. Like,
- 2:22Speaker 3: first of all, you don't listen a lot. But I
- 2:24Speaker 3: would do what I will mention because probably deserves to
- 2:27Speaker 3: be mentioned that there is a lot of like, yes,
- 2:29Speaker 3: we do understand that l s U and its donors
- 2:32Speaker 3: and the people that run LSU Athletics are in high
- 2:35Speaker 3: level discussions right now about something that is so out
- 2:38Speaker 3: of my league and that we aren't going to be
- 2:42Speaker 3: able to shine a lot of give you a lot
- 2:44Speaker 3: of color context to it. So we are as interested.
- 2:48Speaker 3: I'm as interested as anybody is on what the outcome
- 2:51Speaker 3: of all of that stuff is. And there are shows
- 2:53Speaker 3: on the station that are going to be way better
- 2:55Speaker 3: at explaining the minute details and the minutia of how
- 2:58Speaker 3: everything is. I will I'll just say this, and this
- 3:01Speaker 3: is just from outside looking in now. I know everybody
- 3:05Speaker 3: was up at arms. I was one of those people
- 3:06Speaker 3: when like you first saw the news of like going
- 3:09Speaker 3: private equity and all this whatever. Nobody knows until we
- 3:13Speaker 3: all know at the same time, when when they decide
- 3:15Speaker 3: to tell us exactly what's happening. I'm assuming because it's
- 3:19Speaker 3: a public institution, that information will all be public, all
- 3:22Speaker 3: that good stuff. But what I will say is you're
- 3:28Speaker 3: trying to do something innovative, and I applaud that you
- 3:31Speaker 3: have to. You have to be ever changing in this
- 3:32Speaker 3: ever changing world of college athletics. You got to be creative.
- 3:36Speaker 3: You got to find ways to gain a competitive advantage,
- 3:40Speaker 3: especially in this world where everything's murky, everything's muddy. There
- 3:43Speaker 3: is really no rules. People are setting the rules, so
- 3:46Speaker 3: you want to set them if you can. If you
- 3:48Speaker 3: can be strategic enough, if you can be forward thinking enough,
- 3:51Speaker 3: if you can be smart enough, you can create the
- 3:52Speaker 3: rules to give yourself an advantage. But you have to
- 3:58Speaker 3: be very careful, careful for what you wish were. You
- 4:01Speaker 3: got to be careful trying to be groundbreaking. You got
- 4:06Speaker 3: to be careful, like trying to be the first person
- 4:09Speaker 3: to do everything. We saw it. I'm not even gonna
- 4:12Speaker 3: say it's a backfire, but like with the Jersey Patch,
- 4:14Speaker 3: we were the first to do that, right, But Okay,
- 4:17Speaker 3: people got the game plan and they did it better.
- 4:20Speaker 3: They found ways to get more money. Always be careful
- 4:23Speaker 3: being the first. Anything you don't. Being the first isn't
- 4:26Speaker 3: always the best. It's about doing it the best. So
- 4:29Speaker 3: I don't know what it is, and I'm totally talking
- 4:33Speaker 3: like over my skis right now because I have no
- 4:35Speaker 3: clue about the details of what's going on. All I
- 4:38Speaker 3: can say is be careful of creating the game plan
- 4:41Speaker 3: and then letting other competitors of yours in the college
- 4:43Speaker 3: landscape see your game plan and do it better. Yeah,
- 4:46Speaker 3: And that's usually what happens with the people that come first.
- 4:49Speaker 2: So the good thing about this is that LSU wouldn't
- 4:52Speaker 2: be the first people that would be going quote unquote
- 4:55Speaker 2: private equity. But from what I understand is they're not
- 4:57Speaker 2: trying to do private equity. They're trying to become an
- 4:59Speaker 2: ll so instead of giving a yeah, that part of
- 5:04Speaker 2: it is new, but I think that that's what they
- 5:06Speaker 2: learned from, like Utah has a private equity partner, and
- 5:10Speaker 2: like instead of selling a piece of LSU ten percent
- 5:13Speaker 2: of LSU to somebody else, they just want to be
- 5:16Speaker 2: an LLC so that other people will invest into it
- 5:19Speaker 2: but will still be like the owner or like LSU
- 5:22Speaker 2: will still own LSU.
- 5:24Speaker 5: And I don't know, Like.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I feel like it's always been kind of headed in
- 5:29Speaker 2: this direction, especially after the ANIL stuff and pay for
- 5:33Speaker 2: play and everything. And I think that if you are,
- 5:37Speaker 2: I think it's something that you do have to adapt to,
- 5:40Speaker 2: Like this is fully NFL junior at this point, you know.
- 5:44Speaker 5: Like yeah, I always thought that.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I don't know, I just felt like this was always
- 5:50Speaker 2: the direction that I was gonna it was gonna head
- 5:52Speaker 2: in because it's not the current way that people are
- 5:56Speaker 2: doing an IL and pay for play is not sustainable
- 5:59Speaker 2: at all, especially have the rate that LSU is doing it,
- 6:02Speaker 2: Like just to be honest, like, yes, l s U
- 6:05Speaker 2: donor fatigues a real thing. Yes, l s U has
- 6:07Speaker 2: a lot of donors and a lot of money. But
- 6:09Speaker 2: at this rate that we are spending, it's not sustainable.
- 6:13Speaker 5: So you have to find something.
- 6:14Speaker 3: To make it work.
- 6:16Speaker 2: And I just feel like they're adapting to what there's
- 6:20Speaker 2: the current lands.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Yeah, and they're trying to be And I think the
- 6:25Speaker 3: who was it that Matt interviewed yesterday, like like I
- 6:29Speaker 3: read some of the quotes and listen to it and
- 6:31Speaker 3: just said like they being innovative and they feel like
- 6:34Speaker 3: for the first time that Louisiana might be ahead of
- 6:37Speaker 3: the curve. The first do it. Yeah again, awesome, Right,
- 6:40Speaker 3: that's great, but you do always have to be careful
- 6:44Speaker 3: with being the first.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, I don't disagree with that. Yeah, but I
- 6:50Speaker 2: do kind of like being part of the pioneer.
- 6:55Speaker 3: I won't like it if we do it and some
- 6:57Speaker 3: year later the Texas Longhorns do it, and it's like
- 7:00Speaker 3: they have the game plan now.
- 7:02Speaker 4: They watched LSU, they worked out all the kinks. They're
- 7:05Speaker 4: finally tuned.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Yeah, LSU's got a lot of people with a lot
- 7:07Speaker 3: of money and a lot of smart people. Other colleges
- 7:10Speaker 3: have a lot of smart people and a lot of
- 7:12Speaker 3: people with a lot of money as well, so they
- 7:15Speaker 3: can take something to improve it. But we'll see. Obviously,
- 7:18Speaker 3: we want LSU to be the best at everything. Sadly
- 7:22Speaker 3: that we are in the state of college athletics to
- 7:26Speaker 3: where we're having to rewrite the rules in this business way,
- 7:30Speaker 3: that does feel. Honestly, it does feel slimy. I maybe
- 7:35Speaker 3: I'm in the minority on that it does. It doesn't
- 7:37Speaker 3: really matter. Like the product on the field is gonna
- 7:39Speaker 3: be awesome, I will I can't wait to watch college football,
- 7:43Speaker 3: but everything else, Like when you start talking about PE
- 7:46Speaker 3: getting involved and you start talking about investors and potential
- 7:48Speaker 3: like kind of owners and creating LLCs for college like
- 7:51Speaker 3: it all just like feels, yeah, it is, but it's
- 7:55Speaker 3: like it isn't slimy, but it just like.
- 7:57Speaker 5: Kind of feels that way because it's never been.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Like it's people, we all fear change, right, I fear
- 8:02Speaker 3: this the spirit in the heart of college athletics and
- 8:05Speaker 3: college sports going away which kind of already has. Yeah,
- 8:08Speaker 3: and every step that we take to further go down
- 8:11Speaker 3: that rabbit hole. It loses a little bit more and
- 8:13Speaker 3: more and more. But football fans like, the football's never
- 8:17Speaker 3: been better. Yeah, there's a there's a give and take here.
- 8:21Speaker 2: I guess I don't disagree that it feels slimy. But
- 8:24Speaker 2: what really felt slimy to me back in the day
- 8:27Speaker 2: was the NC DOUBLEA making a bunch of money off
- 8:30Speaker 2: of kids, and the kids seeing absolutely none of them. Yeah,
- 8:33Speaker 2: so like, which slime do you want?
- 8:35Speaker 3: Do you want?
- 8:36Speaker 2: Like these people that are sitting in a room making
- 8:38Speaker 2: all this these decisions for these kids, and the kids
- 8:41Speaker 2: are working their asses off for all, like the fans,
- 8:45Speaker 2: the school, the NC double A, and they don't see
- 8:48Speaker 2: a dime off the money that people are making off
- 8:50Speaker 2: of them.
- 8:51Speaker 5: Like, I can see both sides to it.
- 8:53Speaker 3: It's great, it's a great point. It's the it's the
- 8:56Speaker 3: one hundred percent the best argument out there. Yeah, right,
- 9:00Speaker 3: we over no one ever looked because no one like
- 9:02Speaker 3: dove into the amount that they were making without sharing
- 9:05Speaker 3: it with anybody. So I get all that, and uh,
- 9:08Speaker 3: it's just different. It's changed, and we all got to
- 9:10Speaker 3: get used to it. And hopefully LSU is on the
- 9:11Speaker 3: right side of history on this new deal. But it
- 9:14Speaker 3: sounds like everybody's positive enough. And you know, what's the
- 9:17Speaker 3: what was the quote?
- 9:18Speaker 4: Just shy of a great a genius plan to use
- 9:21Speaker 4: that a lot over use that, like, can we put
- 9:27Speaker 4: that on a shirt? The should just a genius plan?
- 9:31Speaker 4: A great quote?
- 9:33Speaker 3: Okay? Was that what she was offense last year? Just
- 9:39Speaker 3: shy have a decent plan? All right, we're gonna sho
- 9:44Speaker 3: We're gonna shift away from that because again, there are
- 9:48Speaker 3: losing a sports net, other shows in the station that
- 9:51Speaker 3: are really going to be tuned in. I'm sure more
- 9:53Speaker 3: information will come before this aftern like that are going
- 9:56Speaker 3: to give you way better like details if you want
- 9:58Speaker 3: to look at it in a magnifying glass a little
- 10:00Speaker 3: bit more. So we can just react. That's what this
- 10:02Speaker 3: show's about. Reacting. Give you are just like really kind
- 10:05Speaker 3: of thoughts off the cuff and what we think about
- 10:07Speaker 3: I'll just say, just always be careful being the first,
- 10:09Speaker 3: because that doesn't necessarily mean you're going to do it
- 10:11Speaker 3: the best. All right, let's shift over to the football
- 10:14Speaker 3: side of things, Tayite, while you were gone just having
- 10:16Speaker 3: babies and everything.
- 10:19Speaker 4: Just a launder, just one, just one, yeah, just one baby.
- 10:23Speaker 4: We know if I guess.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Elandia. Chris and I gave had a chance to talk
- 10:30Speaker 3: about kind of the sec going into the season. Different
- 10:33Speaker 3: teams with different expectations, tons of new coaches, tons of
- 10:36Speaker 3: new faces, a lot of question marks, a lot of
- 10:38Speaker 3: QB battles out there. Uh, teams that you know, might
- 10:42Speaker 3: know who their quarterback is kind of they have good
- 10:44Speaker 3: idea but don't necessarily know. There's a lot of teams
- 10:47Speaker 3: with a lot of expectations and some teams with zero expectations.
- 10:51Speaker 3: So I want to start with a team for you
- 10:53Speaker 3: that might not have enough enough people talking about them, somebody,
- 10:59Speaker 3: a team that you think might outplay the preseason expectation
- 11:05Speaker 3: that is being put on, at least by the national media.
- 11:08Speaker 3: So I always like to try to be different.
- 11:11Speaker 4: I don't like to take anybody, but I'm going to
- 11:13Speaker 4: because a Lauder told me during breaks she chose Auburn,
- 11:15Speaker 4: and I think that's the perfect choice. Big Byron Brown's
- 11:18Speaker 4: a hell of a quarterback. He was awesome at South Florida.
- 11:20Speaker 4: He follows his coach, alex A. Golosh and like, look
- 11:22Speaker 4: what Auburn's been and look at the misses they've had.
- 11:25Speaker 4: At head coach their last two coaching stints. Like, nobody
- 11:28Speaker 4: expects Auburn to do anything. I'm not saying they're gonna
- 11:31Speaker 4: go out there and win eight or nine games, but
- 11:33Speaker 4: that could be a scrappy group. That's a that's a
- 11:34Speaker 4: team that a lot of people are gonna overlook on
- 11:37Speaker 4: the schedule. It's a trap game for a lot of people.
- 11:40Speaker 2: You said it was a trap game a couple of
- 11:42Speaker 2: weeks or whenever we were talking about it.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Yeah, yea, yeah, it's I think that first game is
- 11:45Speaker 3: going to be a big one. And I do like
- 11:48Speaker 3: I do like a cocky. He is the coach. I
- 11:52Speaker 3: love the post game, giving them the business of the
- 11:56Speaker 3: old head coach. I would say, I always forget his name.
- 11:58Speaker 3: I blank on his name the other head Sure the coach,
- 12:00Speaker 3: he was the coach he was uh that he went
- 12:03Speaker 3: after after the game?
- 12:05Speaker 5: Goalis went after someone.
- 12:07Speaker 4: I don't know, but I like Alex. To your point,
- 12:09Speaker 4: I like Alex. I mean I think he's I think
- 12:12Speaker 4: he's gonna be good. Auburn's Alburns had a lot of
- 12:14Speaker 4: missus a head coach. I think there's a chance they
- 12:16Speaker 4: hit with this one.
- 12:17Speaker 3: I just remember last year watching Hugh Freeze give US
- 12:20Speaker 3: press conference SEC media days. He had the reddest space.
- 12:25Speaker 5: Red mega energy.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Though I don't really understand what Auburn was thinking with
- 12:30Speaker 2: that higher just.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Looking at the past too much.
- 12:33Speaker 5: I guess that's just what would have made me not
- 12:37Speaker 5: hire him.
- 12:38Speaker 3: I think I think it was strictly offense.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Their offense was so bad under Brian Harson for so
- 12:42Speaker 4: long and even even towards the end of the Malason era.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Like think about people thought bow Knicks was a bad.
- 12:47Speaker 4: Quarterback for two and a half years. Both Knicks is
- 12:49Speaker 4: a really good quarterback. It'll organ in the NFL. Your
- 12:52Speaker 4: offense was that bad, they probably hired him saying hey,
- 12:55Speaker 4: he's won in the SEC before. I wouldn't have made
- 12:57Speaker 4: the higher, but they probably nick.
- 13:00Speaker 3: It was a very popular take, especially like in the
- 13:02Speaker 3: LSU world. He was always good. He maybe he had
- 13:07Speaker 3: some bad games, bad game plans. But I don't think
- 13:09Speaker 3: anybody's arguing if Bonix is a good quarterback or not.
- 13:12Speaker 3: But you're right. It had people arguing then when he.
- 13:15Speaker 4: Was well, it had people arguing, oh, man, Dan Lennon
- 13:18Speaker 4: in Organ, they're geniuses. They're making bow Nicks look good. Yeah,
- 13:20Speaker 4: like no, no, no, no, no, no, no no no. Alburn
- 13:22Speaker 4: made anybody look bad. Look at the quarterbacks after bo Nicks.
- 13:25Speaker 4: They weren't doing nothing either. He hitched his wagon to
- 13:27Speaker 4: Peyton thorn of Hole.
- 13:29Speaker 3: I feel like like he was playing ten years ago
- 13:32Speaker 3: at Auburn. Was he playing against Max Johnson?
- 13:35Speaker 4: Uh, he was a He was a He was a
- 13:36Speaker 4: freshman in nineteen so yeah, he would have been playing
- 13:40Speaker 4: with Max Johnson. Max Johnson. By the way, Georgia Southern
- 13:43Speaker 4: year seven, yeah or get it, yeah, year seven. At
- 13:46Speaker 4: least I saw that picture of him.
- 13:48Speaker 3: The Georgia Southern picture has individual picture looked like looked
- 13:53Speaker 3: like a man, looked looks like a man. Okay, I
- 13:57Speaker 3: want to get what team you think is a little
- 13:59Speaker 3: bit over it, But before we do, I'm want to
- 14:01Speaker 3: tell you about our partners and friends over at Austri
- 14:04Speaker 3: it's time for the kids to go back to school.
- 14:06Speaker 3: As the kids head back to school, Austin Your Health
- 14:08Speaker 3: wants to remind families that a successful school year starts
- 14:11Speaker 3: with good health. That means paying attention to more than
- 14:15Speaker 3: just the grades. Check in with your child's mental health,
- 14:17Speaker 3: Encourage open conversations, make time to connect as they adjust
- 14:20Speaker 3: to a new school year. A few extra minutes talking
- 14:23Speaker 3: each day with your child might make a big difference.
- 14:26Speaker 3: So healthy habits matter as well. Pack of balance, lunch
- 14:29Speaker 3: with protein, fruits, veggies, whole grains. Let your kids help
- 14:32Speaker 3: plan the meals so they're more excited to make smart choices.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Good nutrition helps support learning, energy and focus throughout the
- 14:39Speaker 3: school day. And if your child is playing sports this fall,
- 14:41Speaker 3: don't forget an annual sports physical along with proper hydration, stretching,
- 14:45Speaker 3: plenty arrests, and the right protective equipment to help keep
- 14:48Speaker 3: them healthy and performing their best all season long. Mini
- 14:51Speaker 3: Austure Health locations offer both primary care and pediatric services
- 14:55Speaker 3: in one convenient place, making it easier to care for
- 14:57Speaker 3: the entire families. To go check them out for more
- 14:59Speaker 3: back to health deeps or to schedule an employment today,
- 15:02Speaker 3: visit Austin dot org. Slash b R all Right, Tay
- 15:07Speaker 3: most overrated team going into the twenty twenty sixth season.
- 15:13Speaker 4: I mean, obviously earlier I said A and M, and
- 15:16Speaker 4: that's my answer. Every year, I'll go a little bit different.
- 15:19Speaker 4: There's a lot of people out there that like them.
- 15:22Speaker 4: From Tennessee into Oklahoma.
- 15:23Speaker 3: This year, I'm.
- 15:24Speaker 5: Confused about the Tennessee High.
- 15:26Speaker 4: The thing about Tennessee two really good receivers coming back,
- 15:30Speaker 4: Mike Matthews eight hundred yards a year ago, Braylan Staley
- 15:34Speaker 4: eight thirty seven. And then you have Deshaun Bishop coming
- 15:37Speaker 4: back who ran for a thousand yards and sixteen touchdowns.
- 15:40Speaker 4: That's great. Josh Iipel's a good offensive play caller. They
- 15:45Speaker 4: don't know who their quarterback's going to be right now.
- 15:47Speaker 4: I think it's George McIntyre, the red shirt freshman. He
- 15:50Speaker 4: was highly recruited out of high school. That you got
- 15:52Speaker 4: true freshman Faison Branton. That's kind of your two. You
- 15:55Speaker 4: didn't bring in a big time established quarterback from the portal,
- 15:58Speaker 4: like you brought in Ryan Stall, who's probably gonna be
- 16:00Speaker 4: a third team guy. Their biggest hit in the transfer
- 16:03Speaker 4: portal was Chas Coleman, the Penn State ed.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Rusher everybody wanted.
- 16:07Speaker 4: He left the team before the season even started. He's
- 16:09Speaker 4: not even on the rouster anymore.
- 16:10Speaker 5: Like he was like posting pictures of money spread.
- 16:13Speaker 4: Right, like he wanted to do anything but play football
- 16:16Speaker 4: at Tennessee. And you know they spent top dollar to
- 16:18Speaker 4: get him because everybody wanted him. I like josh I
- 16:22Speaker 4: boy that he's a really good coach. It's all going
- 16:24Speaker 4: to depend on the quarterback position. The weapons are there offensively.
- 16:29Speaker 4: I just I don't know right now. This could be
- 16:31Speaker 4: one of those where at the end of the season
- 16:33Speaker 4: I could have a completely different opinion if one of
- 16:35Speaker 4: these quarterbacks develops. Just going into the year, there's a
- 16:38Speaker 4: lot of people riding that hypel train and there's a
- 16:41Speaker 4: complete unknown a quarterback.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm looking at to that point. Tennessee ranked eighteen,
- 16:48Speaker 3: LSU ranked thirteen. That game is a pick them on
- 16:53Speaker 3: LSU Tennessee. It's pick him right now, and it's at Tennessee.
- 16:56Speaker 4: And my first response was you're gonna beat LSU with
- 17:00Speaker 4: what quarterback? But again that game is later in the season,
- 17:03Speaker 4: which is which is what concerns me the most, because again,
- 17:06Speaker 4: if if back at tire Brandon figure it out, they
- 17:09Speaker 4: have weapons on offense. I just it's tough to be
- 17:12Speaker 4: a starter in the SEC is a freshman and you
- 17:14Speaker 4: got a red shirt freshman and a true freshman battleader
- 17:16Speaker 4: for that spot.
- 17:17Speaker 3: I think their offense is still gonna be good.
- 17:19Speaker 4: I don't know if it's quite as explosive as years past.
- 17:23Speaker 3: All right there. He is Tennessee overrated, Auburn underrated. Who
- 17:29Speaker 3: wins a game? Auburn durst Tennessee. Who's winning that one?
- 17:31Speaker 3: Neutral sight? Tennessee is more talented. It's up the bottom.
- 17:36Speaker 3: What quarterback they beaten him with? Though? But I trust
- 17:38Speaker 3: Byron Brown. Byron Brown's a gamer. That's that's a good game.
- 17:41Speaker 3: That's a good game. You wore eagle this year. Both
- 17:44Speaker 3: are kind of worried.
- 17:47Speaker 5: It's more eagle to Chris was more eagling too.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Can't tell his friends family, Well, she went to Auburn.
- 17:57Speaker 3: That's one of his five schools. Matt, that's true. He's
- 17:59Speaker 3: a fan of every ready.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Yeah, wait, so I was telling you that I said
- 18:02Speaker 2: Arkansas was set out for failure. I just remembered that
- 18:04Speaker 2: we did say an overrated one, and I said, all miss.
- 18:07Speaker 4: Yeah, yes, I don't disagree. I think that they may
- 18:12Speaker 4: have the best duo in college football. Yeah in Trinidad,
- 18:15Speaker 4: Shambliss and Kawan Lacy. Great, you replacing both your tackles
- 18:18Speaker 4: from a year ago and the Devin Harper who was
- 18:20Speaker 4: going to compete for a job. So two and a
- 18:22Speaker 4: half starters if you will, on that o line. You
- 18:25Speaker 4: lost five. Those six receivers I mentioned that all had
- 18:28Speaker 4: four hundred yards or more. You lost five of them.
- 18:30Speaker 4: One of them was a freshman a year ago. He's
- 18:32Speaker 4: coming back. I think those two guys are great. I
- 18:35Speaker 4: worry about the weapons around him. And John David Baker,
- 18:38Speaker 4: good play caller at East Carolina, struggled a little bit
- 18:41Speaker 4: against some of the better defenses they played, and everybody's
- 18:44Speaker 4: going to say, well, people said that about Charlie Wise junior.
- 18:47Speaker 4: John David Baker doesn't have Lane Kiffin in that matters.
- 18:49Speaker 4: So I like and the Coaches Bowl, they're ranked number ten,
- 18:53Speaker 4: and I think that is absolutely fair.
- 18:55Speaker 5: That feels reasonable.
- 18:56Speaker 3: Don't kick them out of the top ten because they
- 18:58Speaker 3: are returning the best quarterback and because of the success
- 19:00Speaker 3: that they had. But they're but again, ten is also
- 19:03Speaker 3: telling you there's a lot of question marks and they
- 19:05Speaker 3: are going to have to answer those, and they got
- 19:07Speaker 3: to answer good.
- 19:08Speaker 4: Defense, great quarterback, weapons around them on the offense is
- 19:11Speaker 4: my concern.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Yep.
- 19:12Speaker 3: And there's a there's a real chance that they start
- 19:15Speaker 3: this season with a couple you know, so like they
- 19:19Speaker 3: got a sneaky one on a neutral site versus Louisville
- 19:21Speaker 3: Week one, so don't look ahead the issue.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Are we gonna dismiss the fact that their offensive coordner
- 19:26Speaker 2: us three first names, John David Baker.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Well, and so here's the thing about say that. What
- 19:34Speaker 3: we say about guys with three names? They're all smart?
- 19:37Speaker 2: No, they're all good because we were like Jonathan.
- 19:41Speaker 3: He's surfaced. I saw a picture of him yesterday, really yes, him?
- 19:46Speaker 3: And what was this? What was the younger brother? The
- 19:49Speaker 3: character is young Mark Mark? Was a picture Randy Mark? Yeah,
- 19:54Speaker 3: so it was. It was Randy Mark and the mom
- 19:58Speaker 3: Jill took a picture of some little I saw it
- 20:01Speaker 3: and doing okay, it's doing okay. Good for him? Three names,
- 20:06Speaker 3: so the office porter, it must be a good looking fellow.
- 20:08Speaker 3: All right, Well, stick of this. We got a lot
- 20:11Speaker 3: more to get to. We're gonna turn our focus to
- 20:13Speaker 3: the NFL. We come back right here, off the.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Bench, Off the bench.
- 20:18Speaker 3: I go to trash rangers dot com. Trash rangers dot com.
- 20:23Speaker 3: What I yelled at Ton't I? I was excited?
- 20:26Speaker 5: No, I looked him up.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Not bad. Well, don't throw him in the trash trash
- 20:34Speaker 3: rangers dot com. Trash Rangers the most reliable trash removal
- 20:37Speaker 3: service in all of Louisiana. We're talking residential trash pickup.
- 20:41Speaker 3: We're talking commercial trash pickup. We're talking roll left dumpsters
- 20:44Speaker 3: for those special projects. Maybe you're cleaning out the garage,
- 20:47Speaker 3: maybe you're cleaning out an attic, maybe you're tearing something down,
- 20:50Speaker 3: maybe you're cleaning out a warehouse at your place of business.
- 20:52Speaker 3: They got three sizes of roll up dumpsters to choose from.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Let me tell you something about them. I've worked with
- 20:58Speaker 3: tons of companies around the country. I'll roll up dumpsters
- 21:01Speaker 3: because I have moved a lot. They are the best
- 21:04Speaker 3: in the business. The only company I've ever worked with
- 21:05Speaker 3: the flat rate price. And usually it's like they give
- 21:07Speaker 3: you a price on the front end and then you
- 21:08Speaker 3: got to pay like a fuel search arge, a tonnage fee,
- 21:13Speaker 3: what all these different things. They're gonna quote you price
- 21:15Speaker 3: and you're gonna pay that price. Right over there at
- 21:17Speaker 3: trash rangers dot com.
- 21:25Speaker 1: It's from the locker room to the airwaves. Gets off
- 21:27Speaker 1: the bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 21:46Speaker 3: All right, welcome back here off the bench Wednesday morning,
- 21:49Speaker 3: twenty four a m. We appreciate you tuning and joining
- 21:51Speaker 3: the show with us today. Stoctorable SEC. I want to
- 21:56Speaker 3: change our sites to the NFL, the National Football League.
- 22:02Speaker 3: We got two guys yesterday in the NFL getting paid paid,
- 22:08Speaker 3: serious contract negotiations happening. Let's start over in Baltimore. Zay Flowers,
- 22:15Speaker 3: wide receiver, guy in his going into his fourth year,
- 22:19Speaker 3: signs a four year, one hundred and forty million dollars contract,
- 22:24Speaker 3: one hundred and eight million guaranteed, and that ties him
- 22:28Speaker 3: with Justin Jefferson as the fourth highest paid wide receiver
- 22:31Speaker 3: annually in the NFL. I don't know if he's a
- 22:34Speaker 3: top four wide receiver, but he is now being paid
- 22:38Speaker 3: like that, and it's following the trend. It certainly this
- 22:41Speaker 3: comes on the heels of Chris Olave getting paid, so
- 22:44Speaker 3: we'll examine kind of a comparison between those two. But
- 22:48Speaker 3: also another contract being signed yesterday, rightfully, so, Jon Robinson.
- 22:52Speaker 3: John Robinson's becomes the highest paid running back in the
- 22:56Speaker 3: history of the NFL with a three year, seventy five
- 22:59Speaker 3: million dollar contract. Fifty one of that is going to
- 23:04Speaker 3: be completely guaranteed, and he gets thirty seven million just
- 23:07Speaker 3: for signing his name. That's a pretty nice little signature.
- 23:11Speaker 3: I was I was always every single time, every time
- 23:14Speaker 3: someone gets paid paid, always look at what state they're
- 23:16Speaker 3: in and how much they're gonna pay in taxes. Zay
- 23:19Speaker 3: Flowers in paying sixty five point five million to the
- 23:24Speaker 3: US government in taxas d Jon Robinson thirty five point
- 23:28Speaker 3: two million straight to the tax to the tax man.
- 23:31Speaker 3: So it's better to live in Georgia than Maryland. Uh yeah,
- 23:35Speaker 3: I had that pulled up. What was there state tax? Right, Yeah,
- 23:38Speaker 3: it's a little bit. It's like the difference swaying five
- 23:40Speaker 3: and six. Maryland actually wasn't as bad as I thought.
- 23:42Speaker 3: I thought Maryland was gonna be like eight or nine percent,
- 23:46Speaker 3: and it was around six. Georgia is a flat tax.
- 23:49Speaker 3: I was flat great state income tax, which I was,
- 23:53Speaker 3: which I was a little surprised at. But anyway, a
- 23:55Speaker 3: lot of taxes there. But certainly this comes on the
- 23:58Speaker 3: hills Zay Flowers sign comes on the hills of Chris
- 24:01Speaker 3: Alave getting signed. Now similar I would say, very similar
- 24:04Speaker 3: player play styles now because of Chris A. Lave's injuries
- 24:07Speaker 3: and he hasn't had the average annual production that Zey
- 24:12Speaker 3: has had over his over Jay's first three years, but
- 24:17Speaker 3: certainly a similar type of player and they're not too
- 24:21Speaker 3: far off of Nick on Our Hills on the show yesterday,
- 24:23Speaker 3: and I think the original reports from the agent was
- 24:26Speaker 3: something like thirty three million per year for a Lave.
- 24:30Speaker 3: Now Nick kind of said that, well, that's what the
- 24:32Speaker 3: incentives kicked in and the escalator, so it's really more
- 24:34Speaker 3: like thirty one from a base salary with a chance
- 24:38Speaker 3: to get up to thirty three. And Zay Flowers is
- 24:42Speaker 3: right ahead thirty five million, so it's probably agent talk too.
- 24:45Speaker 3: It's probably a little bit similar where some of those
- 24:47Speaker 3: are incentive based to get to that thirty five, but
- 24:50Speaker 3: certainly similar contracts. Anybody have any thoughts, like when you
- 24:52Speaker 3: saw that news come over yesterday, like a day or
- 24:54Speaker 3: two after, well a week after Chris Lave signs his contract,
- 24:58Speaker 3: was there any this shocking to you all that he's.
- 25:00Speaker 4: Getting a little bit more than in a lot of
- 25:02Speaker 4: I think Saints fans should feel better about the Alave contract,
- 25:05Speaker 4: like they're wasn't what numbers wise, Like, yeah, Lave's got
- 25:09Speaker 4: the injury history, like I like to always point out, look,
- 25:12Speaker 4: he missed eight games in twenty twenty four, he only
- 25:15Speaker 4: played half the season. Since then, Chris Olave's missed four
- 25:19Speaker 4: games in three years, So like take Away twenty twenty four,
- 25:22Speaker 4: I understand it happened, But outside of that, he's he's
- 25:25Speaker 4: been relatively healthy. He's say Flowers one game in three
- 25:27Speaker 4: years he hasn't played, so say Flowers has been healthy
- 25:31Speaker 4: a little bit smaller, but I mean, dude, their numbers
- 25:33Speaker 4: kind of went what save Flowers a thousand yards twice
- 25:36Speaker 4: in three years, a lave three times in four years,
- 25:39Speaker 4: and again the only time he didn't have it was
- 25:41Speaker 4: the eight games. Flowers' yards have gone up every single year,
- 25:46Speaker 4: eight fifty one thousand, last year twelve hundred. They're kind
- 25:50Speaker 4: of and what it's it's what we talked about. Why
- 25:53Speaker 4: this thing's waited so long to pay a loave was
- 25:55Speaker 4: my concern. Whoever pays last pays most in the NFL.
- 25:59Speaker 4: So if you would paid him a little bit early, you'd
- 26:01Speaker 4: feel even better. But I mean, if you're thinking, I
- 26:04Speaker 4: can get a lave for this, or I can get
- 26:06Speaker 4: Zave Flowers for a little bit more, you're probably taking
- 26:08Speaker 4: a lave because there kind of what.
- 26:09Speaker 2: What I so I was telling you, I don't remember when.
- 26:14Speaker 2: It was, probably last week after after a lave got
- 26:17Speaker 2: re signed. Is that as somebody that has been very
- 26:21Speaker 2: vocal about like I don't think that we should pay
- 26:23Speaker 2: him that much or whatever, and I don't think that
- 26:26Speaker 2: he's like a true.
- 26:28Speaker 3: Like wide receiver. One.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Yeah, and I told you that Ross kind of changed
- 26:33Speaker 2: how I thought about it. And this actually kind of
- 26:36Speaker 2: goes with what Ross said where Drake London completely reset
- 26:40Speaker 2: the market. So what Crystal Lave is gonna end up
- 26:43Speaker 2: being paid isn't going to be like top six. It's
- 26:46Speaker 2: going to be like lower than that once everybody else
- 26:48Speaker 2: starts getting paid more too.
- 26:50Speaker 5: So I'm okay with it. I don't I don't think
- 26:53Speaker 5: anything about like.
- 26:53Speaker 2: The zay Flowers thing. It doesn't make me feel no,
- 26:57Speaker 2: it really doesn't. It just confirms what Ross said to me.
- 27:00Speaker 3: It does kind of confirm that. And that's that's the
- 27:01Speaker 3: market right now now. I said it when Chris Olave
- 27:04Speaker 3: did get signed that, like, do I think it's an
- 27:06Speaker 3: overpayment for kind of like you said, like what you
- 27:11Speaker 3: would traditionally look at on paper and say that's a
- 27:15Speaker 3: traditional number. One. Do I think that's an overpayment? Yeah?
- 27:18Speaker 3: I mean yeah, I do, But I also agree with
- 27:20Speaker 3: them signing. I like it's a good signing it. You
- 27:24Speaker 3: had to do it. Like you could be the Bucks
- 27:26Speaker 3: and not sign anybody. It's really the dumbest statement ever
- 27:28Speaker 3: for me to say that. Do I think he's ever paid?
- 27:30Speaker 3: But I also agree, like.
- 27:31Speaker 5: I think in this situation two things could be true.
- 27:33Speaker 3: The market got reset, yes, and I think it's fair,
- 27:36Speaker 3: and I think Saint Fans should feel really good about
- 27:38Speaker 3: the contract now seeing another one fall after him, that
- 27:42Speaker 3: is a little bit more for pretty like basically the
- 27:44Speaker 3: same type.
- 27:47Speaker 4: You want to talk about Drake London reset in the market. Look,
- 27:50Speaker 4: I understand Drake Leonard's big, he's a physical presence. You
- 27:52Speaker 4: look at raw numbers, a lot of pretty favorably.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Pretty favorably about that whenever we were doing the tierless.
- 28:00Speaker 3: Right, And that's so like you got a lave.
- 28:02Speaker 4: Like if you throw all these guys numbers up there
- 28:05Speaker 4: with no names, nobody's gonna be able to tell the difference.
- 28:07Speaker 4: And a lave is the least paid of the three.
- 28:10Speaker 4: So like, yeah, overpaid, matter of opinion. But like, if
- 28:14Speaker 4: you look at these three guys, you do got to
- 28:16Speaker 4: kind of feel good because you're like, we got similar
- 28:19Speaker 4: players for a little bit less, right.
- 28:20Speaker 3: It's the it's the it's the wow factor. I think
- 28:26Speaker 3: with with the Lave and also like Zay Flowers as well,
- 28:29Speaker 3: like kind of the similar type of player, similar body style,
- 28:31Speaker 3: movement like five nine yeah, a lot smaller, right, So
- 28:36Speaker 3: when you it's been hard to put our finger on
- 28:37Speaker 3: like why we don't think like the traditional number one,
- 28:40Speaker 3: like put your finger on that kind of like why
- 28:42Speaker 3: doesn't Brian Kelly fit it? Elis you try to put
- 28:44Speaker 3: your finger on that, like and try to explain that,
- 28:46Speaker 3: you know what I mean.
- 28:47Speaker 2: I get he was better at it last year, but
- 28:49Speaker 2: for me, it's the contested catches.
- 28:51Speaker 3: Yeah, it's the Yeah, it's and that those with like
- 28:53Speaker 3: the wow play the difference making plays. And my best
- 28:56Speaker 3: way to explain it was the defensive coordinator is he
- 29:00Speaker 3: is he a Monday morning guy? So is the defensive
- 29:03Speaker 3: coordinator coming in and talking about him first, like we
- 29:05Speaker 3: got to stop that guy. Maybe they are, maybe they're not.
- 29:08Speaker 3: It's just it's just on the coff. But it makes
- 29:10Speaker 3: no difference. Like the stats are the stats, like he
- 29:12Speaker 3: has outplayed, like he has played so well and he
- 29:16Speaker 3: is your number one and he got paid like it
- 29:20Speaker 3: well deserved and I'm excited about that. I'm excited about
- 29:23Speaker 3: the receiver room and excited to see him work and
- 29:25Speaker 3: he's done everything the right way. So Kudo's hats off
- 29:28Speaker 3: to a lave And I think for Saints fans as well,
- 29:30Speaker 3: they should feel really good after seeing the ze Flowers
- 29:32Speaker 3: contract about what they got and what they have in
- 29:34Speaker 3: Chris Lava and somebody else that should feel really good
- 29:37Speaker 3: about themselves. Jamier Gibbs, Yeah, Jamiir Gibbs, this was kind
- 29:42Speaker 3: of like a waiting game. Who's gonna go first? Which
- 29:45Speaker 3: Jon or Jamiir like, can't really argue with it? Well,
- 29:51Speaker 3: I guess you everybody can argue best two running backs
- 29:54Speaker 3: in the NFL Jamiir Gibbs, Jean Robinson. And I think
- 29:57Speaker 3: that's pretty consistent when you ask other players in the
- 29:59Speaker 3: NFL and other coach in the NFL, they say that,
- 30:01Speaker 3: now there's some other awesome running backs. I got that,
- 30:03Speaker 3: But these are two guys that are a little bit different.
- 30:06Speaker 3: They do different things, they have a different skill set,
- 30:07Speaker 3: they present different problems, uh, just outside of just running
- 30:11Speaker 3: in the A and B gap. That's so it's they
- 30:15Speaker 3: JAMRIGI is about to get paid, and I'm assuming he's
- 30:17Speaker 3: gonna want just a touch over a million more. He's
- 30:21Speaker 3: gonna want just a touch over seventy five million over
- 30:24Speaker 3: three years. Jake's not here.
- 30:26Speaker 4: I know you like to piss them off with these conversations,
- 30:29Speaker 4: but what are your thoughts on them paying bijon that deal.
- 30:34Speaker 4: I'm normally good with it. In this case, I'm actually
- 30:36Speaker 4: not twenty five million. I would rather pay Bjon twenty
- 30:41Speaker 4: five million a year than say, Flowers thirty five. Sure,
- 30:44Speaker 4: but I just look at it. They've paid Drake London
- 30:47Speaker 4: top five receiver money. You just made Bjeon Robinson your
- 30:50Speaker 4: highest the highest paid running back. Great, but you don't
- 30:54Speaker 4: have a quarterback. And the fact that you don't have
- 30:57Speaker 4: a ton of cash as much as other people like
- 31:00Speaker 4: I feel like it's almost easier to find a quarterback
- 31:02Speaker 4: when you're bad, right, you gotta hire your draft pick.
- 31:05Speaker 4: You got a lot of cash left over. You just
- 31:07Speaker 4: paid a receiver and a running back top to your
- 31:09Speaker 4: money with your lead with no one, no, with no
- 31:12Speaker 4: one to get them the ball. Like I'm always of
- 31:15Speaker 4: the opinion, pay the running back absolutely if the quarterback's
- 31:18Speaker 4: already in place Jamiir Gibbs with Jared goff yep, pay him.
- 31:21Speaker 3: It's not be Jon's fault.
- 31:22Speaker 4: But I just I don't know the strategy for Atlanta
- 31:25Speaker 4: to don't to pay the QB last as well.
- 31:27Speaker 3: Always jack the quarterback.
- 31:30Speaker 5: Did I just have to google that?
- 31:32Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, maybe maybe so. But he is you can't
- 31:37Speaker 3: judge him like other runner and I'm always on your side.
- 31:39Speaker 3: I said about Jordan Love and the drafts overdrafted, like
- 31:43Speaker 3: just don't don't take him that early. And I always
- 31:45Speaker 3: think that about the running backs. But him and Jamiir
- 31:47Speaker 3: are a different They are running back slash just playmaker right.
- 31:52Speaker 3: They they're they're different again, They're out there more than
- 31:55Speaker 3: just running the A gap and running zone right, zone left.
- 31:57Speaker 3: They are more than that. And and twenty five million
- 32:01Speaker 3: for potentially the best offensive player in the NFL is
- 32:05Speaker 3: a discount.
- 32:06Speaker 4: Well remember Le'Veon Belled a couple of years ago said
- 32:08Speaker 4: I want to be paid like a number one running
- 32:09Speaker 4: back and a number two receiver because that's what I am.
- 32:11Speaker 3: I'm the number two option.
- 32:13Speaker 4: That's kind of accurate when you look at a Bijon Robinson,
- 32:16Speaker 4: like they don't have a ton outside of Drake London
- 32:19Speaker 4: as far as out why. I think it's some weapons,
- 32:21Speaker 4: but no big name guys Like Yeah, my complaint with
- 32:25Speaker 4: Atlanta's I don't think they used Bijon. I thought Zach
- 32:27Speaker 4: Robinson did, which I think the loss of him is
- 32:30Speaker 4: oc is bigger than a lot of people realize.
- 32:32Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean I totally see your point. Is
- 32:34Speaker 3: just side a quarterback, who's the best offensive player in
- 32:36Speaker 3: the NFL, it's probably Gibbs. A Robinson probably gives a
- 32:41Speaker 3: Robinson and get them for ten million less than Za
- 32:46Speaker 3: Flowers just got paid. Is a discount whatever, however you
- 32:51Speaker 3: look at now, I'm not going to say that about
- 32:52Speaker 3: any other running back outside of those two, because they're different,
- 32:55Speaker 3: they're different playmakers. So kudos to him, and kudos to
- 32:58Speaker 3: Jamiir Gibbs, who was about to get pai paid as well.
- 33:00Speaker 5: So did you see the video of Bijon's hair calling
- 33:04Speaker 5: for the ball?

- 34:59Speaker 3: Welcome back here Off the Bench Wednesday morning, laughing the
- 35:03Speaker 3: Raisin Canes Studio. It's really funny Himmy. We're at the
- 35:08Speaker 3: house sometimes and like a song will come on and
- 35:10Speaker 3: it's like like a rocket's got heavy guitar, and she
- 35:13Speaker 3: always looks at me and she goes rocking. If you're
- 35:20Speaker 3: listening to radio, that wasn't great radio, but she basically
- 35:23Speaker 3: gives a rock and roll fingers as such of tongue out.
- 35:25Speaker 3: That's her and eyes. Song right now is come Away.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Can we play come say the Way? Because she gets
- 35:36Speaker 3: on my shoulders and use her legs as an air guitar.
- 35:39Speaker 3: She loves it. We tried after the show. Yeah sick
- 35:44Speaker 3: when family dance parties love it. We are. So we're
- 35:48Speaker 3: gonna do a short segment here on this one so

- 36:17Speaker 3: Or you can. You can go to your desktop, pull

- 37:00Speaker 3: and it's fixed. It's back, baby blowing cold air. We're
- 37:05Speaker 3: crushing it, excited about it, and just easy people to
- 37:08Speaker 3: work with. So go check him out and right over
- 37:10Speaker 3: there by you Automotive dot Com. All right, we got
- 37:15Speaker 3: a little we got a little well video.
- 37:18Speaker 5: Yeah, this is Jon Robinson's hair. So this is Jon
- 37:24Speaker 5: and this is his hair calling for the ball. Okay,
- 37:28Speaker 5: like if you see and they slow it down at.
- 37:30Speaker 3: Some point too, Oh why God?
- 37:34Speaker 5: And then he gets the ball right after.
- 37:36Speaker 3: It really is questionable hair do.
- 37:39Speaker 2: The hair stands straight up and it does look like
- 37:42Speaker 2: it's a little hand at the end.
- 37:43Speaker 3: Okay, No, not only does it stand up, it defies
- 37:45Speaker 3: gravity there.
- 37:49Speaker 5: And it really did look like it was calling for
- 37:50Speaker 5: the ball because he catches it.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Almost two seconds. Oh crazy, Well that guy's name, so imagine, like, look,
- 38:01Speaker 3: twenty five million a year is so much money, so
- 38:04Speaker 3: much Okay, it's so like we're talking. We're talking, like
- 38:08Speaker 3: we start getting to these numbers. It's just like you
- 38:11Speaker 3: lose consciousness when you start talking about these types of
- 38:13Speaker 3: numbers and comparing them and complaining in and celebrating and
- 38:17Speaker 3: all this stuff. Right, But I was thinking about what
- 38:22Speaker 3: we were talking about, less, segment, more and more at
- 38:24Speaker 3: the break. He is so he is so good in
- 38:29Speaker 3: that running back position. He's different. He needs to be
- 38:33Speaker 3: valued differently. It is unfair to him. The status of
- 38:37Speaker 3: player that he is to get paid that much less
- 38:41Speaker 3: than top wide receivers in the NFL, because I promise
- 38:45Speaker 3: you when the Saints play the Falcons, you worried about
- 38:50Speaker 3: the number two. They are going to come in Monday
- 38:52Speaker 3: morning before the game and the defensive coordinator is going
- 38:55Speaker 3: to be like, hey, guys, b Jeon Robinson, Jeon Robinson.
- 38:59Speaker 3: They're not going to say then, and then they'll talk
- 39:01Speaker 3: about Drake. They're not gonna say Drake London before Bijon
- 39:05Speaker 3: when they're talking about their prep. We cannot let this guy.
- 39:08Speaker 3: We have to contain this guy. And you know what
- 39:10Speaker 3: defensive coordinator is also going to say, He's like, he's
- 39:13Speaker 3: gonna make his plays. He's gonna make him, so go
- 39:17Speaker 3: on to the next play. He just can't make too many.
- 39:19Speaker 3: He can't make the big one. He can't make the
- 39:21Speaker 3: game changeing why. And that's how you know you are
- 39:24Speaker 3: a game a playmaker, a game changer in the NFL.
- 39:27Speaker 3: When a defensive coordinator is conceding to you in a
- 39:31Speaker 3: meeting to his own team where you're supposed to talk
- 39:34Speaker 3: him up and hype him up and give him over confidence,
- 39:36Speaker 3: he concedes to you that you're a great player, and
- 39:38Speaker 3: you're gonna make your plays. He just can't make like
- 39:41Speaker 3: the play that counts, and so that's how you know.
- 39:43Speaker 3: And so to be able to get him for twenty
- 39:45Speaker 3: five million, which is what eleven million dollars less than
- 39:49Speaker 3: what Drake London is getting paid out as crazy to me,
- 39:53Speaker 3: valuable should be paid forty million a year, Like are we.
- 39:56Speaker 5: Just paying Drake London that much because he's a wide receiver?
- 39:59Speaker 3: Because it's the market, because and it is unfair, and
- 40:02Speaker 3: I hate to give Jake this credit for the running back,
- 40:05Speaker 3: but that's why Jamiir and Bijeon are different animals. And
- 40:09Speaker 3: I would put McCaffrey in that as well. He's a
- 40:11Speaker 3: little bit of different animal as well. So it's just
- 40:14Speaker 3: it's a weird market for them. They've created a different
- 40:18Speaker 3: type of position, different type of market, and to be
- 40:21Speaker 3: kind of pigeonholed into that running back market is certainly
- 40:24Speaker 3: he becomes the highest paid running back obviously, but like
- 40:26Speaker 3: it's still a discount.
- 40:28Speaker 4: I'll say this, I'm normally good with paying running backs.
- 40:32Speaker 4: The only reason I brought it up is because like
- 40:34Speaker 4: they're gonna have to pay a QB at some point,
- 40:36Speaker 4: But everybody always says if you pay a running back,
- 40:39Speaker 4: you can't win.
- 40:41Speaker 3: You go back and look at the teams that have
- 40:42Speaker 3: won the Super Bowl. It's kind of the receiver position.
- 40:46Speaker 3: You have a high paid wide receiver.
- 40:48Speaker 4: Like look at the two teams that were in the
- 40:49Speaker 4: Super Bowl this year, Patriots had nobody Jackson Smith and
- 40:53Speaker 4: Jigba hadn't gotten his big deal yet. Cooper Cup hadn't
- 40:56Speaker 4: gotten his a big deal yet. When the Rams won,
- 40:57Speaker 4: Jamar was still in his rookie salary when they got that, Like,
- 41:00Speaker 4: you pay your receiver big time money.
- 41:03Speaker 3: That's kind of when the winning is not quite as frequent.
- 41:06Speaker 4: Look at Tom Brady, you never had a top light
- 41:09Speaker 4: wide receivers for a contracts.
- 41:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean we would have to examine the list
- 41:15Speaker 3: for sure, But the off the cuff, I don't really
- 41:19Speaker 3: have off the top of my head, I don't really
- 41:21Speaker 3: have a great argument for you. But let's do that.
- 41:23Speaker 3: Let's let's go through the list tomorrow. We'll do that
- 41:25Speaker 3: for tomorrow's show. We'll kind of go through the list
- 41:27Speaker 3: of the past. Let's you know, ten, fifteen, twenty Super
- 41:30Speaker 3: Bowls and see what the highest paid receiver was. So
- 41:32Speaker 3: we'll line that up that'll be a good segment for
- 41:34Speaker 3: us to go over tomorrow. But as promise, we are
- 41:36Speaker 3: going to have a try to get out of here
- 41:38Speaker 3: a little bit on time. Now it's gone a little
- 41:39Speaker 3: bit late. Whatever we're gonna do. Ask the bench brought
- 41:42Speaker 3: to you by ice cold, delicious dose Sekies right when
- 41:45Speaker 3: we come back. Right here, enough bench, off the bench.
- 41:48Speaker 3: I go to Russellpools dot com Russell sol Pool Company,
- 41:51Speaker 3: the best pool company in all of Louisiana, and I
- 41:56Speaker 3: can tell you about what they can do. I can
- 41:57Speaker 3: tell you about how beautiful they can make your pool,
- 41:59Speaker 3: about how many cool lights and water features and shapes
- 42:02Speaker 3: and all these different colors and all the beautiful design
- 42:04Speaker 3: they can do. Or you can just go to Russellpools
- 42:07Speaker 3: dot com and see their gallery of work. They can
- 42:09Speaker 3: literally do anything. They can do a resort, stop pool,
- 42:12Speaker 3: They can do a lazy river, they can do it, gratto.
- 42:13Speaker 3: Can I get a hot tub somebody? They can do
- 42:16Speaker 3: water features. You want a waterfall, yeah, whatever, they got it.
- 42:19Speaker 3: If you want a square pool or kidney bean shape
- 42:21Speaker 3: like what like the most simple, the most basic. They
- 42:24Speaker 3: can do everything. They got two landscape architects on staff.
- 42:27Speaker 3: They got an expert crew. They've been doing it a
- 42:30Speaker 3: long time. Chris Anderson in the gang over there, and
- 42:33Speaker 3: they do business the right way. And also renovations, pool renovations.
- 42:38Speaker 3: Not a lot of companies would be you can trust
- 42:41Speaker 3: them with that job because it's not just as easy
- 42:43Speaker 3: as digging a hole and putting a pool, and it
- 42:45Speaker 3: is renovating as taking a space and created and making
- 42:47Speaker 3: it modern. They are the best at Russellpools dot com.
- 42:50Speaker 1: Are you locked in on LSU football twenty four to seven?
- 43:03Speaker 1: You're listening to Off the Bench?
- 43:12Speaker 3: All right, welcome back here off the Bench closing out
- 43:15Speaker 3: the show man. It's been quick today, that's it. I
- 43:19Speaker 3: feel like it has.
- 43:20Speaker 2: I felt like the first hour went by and then
- 43:22Speaker 2: the second hour was kind of slow.
- 43:24Speaker 3: This this order is pretty quick. That's the tripy, not
- 43:27Speaker 3: a big deal, just crushing it. Yeah, I think Chris
- 43:30Speaker 3: is behind the train probably probably. All right, let's get
- 43:34Speaker 3: to ask the bench brought to you about cold delicious
- 43:36Speaker 3: dose secies go for those people. Yeah, I'm not doing that.
- 43:45Speaker 5: How's a girl? I cannot give people that, ammo.
- 43:48Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true. That's that's fair fair point, fair point,
- 43:51Speaker 3: and we excuse you from the gliglugs. No cluck clucks
- 43:56Speaker 3: for you clug clugs, but I want to Gliglow has to. Yes,
- 44:00Speaker 3: I betch did Marlar die? No, he did not die.
- 44:04Speaker 3: He's at LSU football practice. So he was here for
- 44:06Speaker 3: two hours and went and he went to the first
- 44:08Speaker 3: day of LSU football practice. Hassak asked, the bitch broub
- 44:11Speaker 3: you got cold? Do skis? Is the auto shut off
- 44:15Speaker 3: in newer vehicles the worst thing ever invented.
- 44:17Speaker 4: Almost did not buy my new truck because that had it.
- 44:20Speaker 4: But then I was like, they all got it, so
- 44:21Speaker 4: I gotta.
- 44:23Speaker 3: Yeah, mine doesn't auto shut off because I got a Diesel. Yeah,
- 44:26Speaker 3: I got a Diesel truck, so my but my older
- 44:29Speaker 3: truck did. It's so annoying, but it does. You do
- 44:32Speaker 3: have that big, like that button that you can push.
- 44:35Speaker 1: Hit it.
- 44:35Speaker 2: The first thing that I do when I get in
- 44:37Speaker 2: my cars, push that button.
- 44:39Speaker 4: Sometimes I'll forget, though, and I'll be in a red light.
- 44:41Speaker 4: I'm like, what that will happened? I'm like, oh, no,
- 44:43Speaker 4: Auto show, give me the stats.
- 44:45Speaker 3: I know, how is that? What's that? Is that? Really?
- 44:47Speaker 4: I just feel like turning on and off, Like the
- 44:50Speaker 4: more you turn on and off, the engine.
- 44:52Speaker 3: I feel like that a little bit worse more. That's
- 44:55Speaker 3: what I would say.
- 44:55Speaker 2: No, you know what happened to me one time is
- 44:57Speaker 2: I forgot to turn it off. My cars shut off
- 45:00Speaker 2: off or I guess the engine whatever it does. I
- 45:02Speaker 2: still don't even really know what it does. But like
- 45:04Speaker 2: my engine shut off out of light. But as soon
- 45:07Speaker 2: as it shut off, I was like, oh, and I
- 45:09Speaker 2: pushed the button and then it turned it back on.
- 45:12Speaker 2: But then it shut my car off and I had
- 45:14Speaker 2: to like restart my whole car.
- 45:17Speaker 5: I had to like put it in park and restart
- 45:19Speaker 5: my whole car.
- 45:20Speaker 3: I know, any good? Yeah, I feel like I'm with it,
- 45:22Speaker 3: like starting to side of the engine. That can't be
- 45:24Speaker 3: better for me. Sitting idol for two minutes isn't bad?
- 45:29Speaker 3: Has asked the bench about seconds. Did you know you
- 45:31Speaker 3: can get a d W I on a lawnmower? Friend's
- 45:35Speaker 3: grandfather got one going to the pool pool hall many
- 45:39Speaker 3: years ago. I think riding the pool hole made you
- 45:44Speaker 3: a target. And I finished. When I finished that question,
- 45:47Speaker 3: I was like, oh, yeah, obviously.
- 45:49Speaker 4: They knew before they pulled your ride a lawnmower on
- 45:52Speaker 4: the road.
- 45:53Speaker 3: Can you get a d W high mowing your lawn. No,
- 45:56Speaker 3: I can't write your property. It's like drinking a beer
- 45:59Speaker 3: in your bag yard. Fair enough, Hey Tae, Yes, I'm
- 46:04Speaker 3: just gonna give you my own question. Does has Jerry
- 46:06Speaker 3: Jones lost his media fastball? Well you've heard nothing Jerry
- 46:09Speaker 3: Jones's little every festival. Well this is disappointing. I don't
- 46:13Speaker 3: hear any like big claims. I mean, I don't hate it.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Why you don't care about them? Yeah, so what's the
- 46:20Speaker 3: big deal? No, that's that's why I don't have to
- 46:21Speaker 3: hear anything. Hey, stick with us tomorrow, Join us tomorrow.
- 46:25Speaker 3: I think Richard Dixon is gonna come back and hang
- 46:27Speaker 3: out with us all morning long. So it'll be the
