- 0:04Speaker 1: It's the Ft Live postgame show presented by the Fox
- 0:08Speaker 1: one app. It's brand new, check it out. Scottie Brown
- 0:11Speaker 1: along with Trevor May we are recapping Game four, the
- 0:16Speaker 1: Tigers took down the Mariners. We will have a Game
- 0:19Speaker 1: five winner take all back in Seattle Place. Is gonna
- 0:23Speaker 1: be nuts. But first we're going to talk about what
- 0:25Speaker 1: we just saw. Trevor, Good morning to the Detroit Tigers offense.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Yeah, we were just talking about it before the game,
- 0:34Speaker 2: that they needed to get it going. Hadn't scored more
- 0:36Speaker 2: than five runs more than once in the playoffs. This
- 0:39Speaker 2: counts nine unanswered after falling behind three nothing to the gate.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Was the bottom of the fifth this thing started. I
- 0:45Speaker 3: went downhill, downhill quick for the old Mariners.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Thiks Yeah, fifth and sixth thing. The Tigers just went nuts.
- 0:56Speaker 1: And I will give credit to a number of players
- 0:59Speaker 1: that I'll be Isley stepped up, but one that really
- 1:02Speaker 1: comes to mind was their best most productive bat this year.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Riley Green was feeling the heat. He's still a very
- 1:10Speaker 1: young player, not super battle tested yet left on left
- 1:15Speaker 1: crime against a guy who had been really good and
- 1:17Speaker 1: had been in for those kind of spots inspire right,
- 1:20Speaker 1: and gave Spire who hung a slider and that's the
- 1:23Speaker 1: first Detroit home run we had seen since Carry Carpenter
- 1:27Speaker 1: in Game one of this series. Over one hundred at bats.
- 1:30Speaker 1: That was the go ahead shot and ended up being
- 1:32Speaker 1: the difference maker. They scored a bunch more than in
- 1:35Speaker 1: need any more. Four hundred and fifty four feet from
- 1:39Speaker 1: Riley Green a big welcome back. And for me, Trevor,
- 1:42Speaker 1: this is a guy who's got the big uppercut swing.
- 1:44Speaker 1: He can be super streaky at times. But if he's
- 1:47Speaker 1: doing that for another couple weeks, the Tigers might all
- 1:51Speaker 1: of a sudden change everything. I mean, sure they might
- 1:53Speaker 1: lose in Game five in Seattle, but if not, if
- 1:56Speaker 1: Riley Green becomes a big power hitter again like he
- 1:59Speaker 1: was for most of this season, thirty some on homers,
- 2:02Speaker 1: this is much scarier Detroit lineup.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Yeah he was.
- 2:06Speaker 2: He was my you know, Detroit Tiger's MVP going into
- 2:09Speaker 2: this year. They needed him to be to take another
- 2:12Speaker 2: step forward and be the you know, big bat in
- 2:14Speaker 2: middle lineup for all intensive purposes.
- 2:15Speaker 1: He did.
- 2:15Speaker 2: You know, one hundred eleven RBIs on the ear. That's
- 2:18Speaker 2: not nothing, you know, and he's got the high strikeout right,
- 2:21Speaker 2: we know, you know, he was leading the league for
- 2:23Speaker 2: most of the year before unfortunately the young guy out
- 2:28Speaker 2: in the Nationals Park took his took his belt. But
- 2:33Speaker 2: I mean it kind of comes with the territory. He's
- 2:35Speaker 2: got a steep swing. He struggles a little bit with
- 2:37Speaker 2: the ball up at times, but he's making adjustments and
- 2:40Speaker 2: he's taking advantage of the balls he can't hit, especially
- 2:43Speaker 2: from a left east gates fire has trouble keeping the
- 2:46Speaker 2: ball out of the middle of the plate at all.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Today everything was kind of just leaking back over no
- 2:49Speaker 2: matter what he threw.
- 2:50Speaker 3: It's one of those days for him.
- 2:51Speaker 2: So but Roley Green is he's going to be the
- 2:55Speaker 2: game changer when he's hitting well, when he strings a
- 2:58Speaker 2: couple of hits together or has a big hit somewhere
- 3:00Speaker 2: in the game. That is what has happened to get
- 3:02Speaker 2: them their wins. So it was going to turn on
- 3:06Speaker 2: his bat and no difference today, you know, And you know,
- 3:12Speaker 2: I think Zach McKinstry kind of just jumped right on
- 3:16Speaker 2: the badwagon and swung it pretty well too.
- 3:17Speaker 3: If everyone did. I mean, the floodgates kind of opened
- 3:20Speaker 3: after that point.
- 3:22Speaker 1: It's a good little nugget from Jason Stark, who's always
- 3:25Speaker 1: full of them. One home run against lefties this year
- 3:28Speaker 1: to give the Tigers a lead for Riley Green July thirteenth,
- 3:33Speaker 1: off Gabe Spire.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Wow. Yeah, so it's like he hadn't been in that
- 3:38Speaker 3: spot before.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Oh wait, he had that exact spot, not in this
- 3:42Speaker 1: kind of environment, but just a few months ago, I think.
- 3:48Speaker 2: And I don't want to insert myself in here in
- 3:50Speaker 2: any meaningful way, but gave Spire only gave up like
- 3:54Speaker 2: for five or six home runs of the year, and
- 3:56Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure I was either watching a TV or
- 3:58Speaker 2: watching live or four of them.
- 4:00Speaker 3: So I'm sorry, Gabe.
- 4:03Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure I saw the Riley Green one, and
- 4:05Speaker 2: I believe it was in Seattle, and I might have been.
- 4:08Speaker 3: There for that too.
- 4:09Speaker 2: So that's you know, I won't watch anymore. I'll turn
- 4:14Speaker 2: it off when you come in the game, and let's
- 4:16Speaker 2: make sure that that's not part of it.
- 4:18Speaker 3: How about that? Yeah?
- 4:20Speaker 2: And you know what, as a reliever man, giving up
- 4:23Speaker 2: a homer to the same guy twice in a year,
- 4:25Speaker 2: it's like not, it's rare, it's pretty like, especially if
- 4:28Speaker 2: you're not in their division.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Right, So yeah, this is right.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Every time that guy comes into the plate. Now, for
- 4:35Speaker 2: the rest of his spier's career, gonna just remember this
- 4:39Speaker 2: a little bit more.
- 4:41Speaker 1: And broadcasters will bring it up almost every time. It'll
- 4:44Speaker 1: be the note right. If you ever see that matchup,
- 4:46Speaker 1: they'll go. Let me take you back to October eighth
- 4:49Speaker 1: of twenty twenty five.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Other notable parts of the Tigers offense. First off, here
- 4:55Speaker 1: Jami Jones. His job is to hit left handed pitching.
- 4:58Speaker 1: His ops is star level against left handed pitching. First
- 5:03Speaker 1: pitch rips an RBI double offspire that made this a
- 5:06Speaker 1: three to two contest. Javier Bayaz needs to be talked
- 5:09Speaker 1: about for the season that he had right many Tigers fans,
- 5:13Speaker 1: I would say even most Tigers fans did not want
- 5:16Speaker 1: him on the twenty twenty five team. They were like,
- 5:18Speaker 1: we're done, let's just cut bait. Starts the season off
- 5:22Speaker 1: smoking hot right makes the all star roster. Helped the
- 5:26Speaker 1: Tigers win a ton of games, which is when they
- 5:28Speaker 1: were at their best in the first half of the season.
- 5:31Speaker 1: He slumped the Tigers slumped. He's been in the postseason before.
- 5:35Speaker 1: He had his first home run in eight years in
- 5:37Speaker 1: a postseason game in this one and came through with
- 5:40Speaker 1: the tying RBI single earlier. So Javier Baiaz needs some
- 5:44Speaker 1: love as well, Trevor. I mean, he's changed himself a
- 5:47Speaker 1: little bit this year, and we've seen the best of him.
- 5:50Speaker 3: Right.
- 5:50Speaker 1: He's hitting, he's giving you at bats for average clutch abs,
- 5:54Speaker 1: and he's taken some pitches here and there in the postseason.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Yeah, Chase is down, he's he's definitely i think, taking
- 6:02Speaker 2: some of that feedback he's always played, you know.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Just.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Whatever is in front of him, he's going to go
- 6:08Speaker 2: right at it. He's going to play as hard as
- 6:10Speaker 2: he can and just deal with whatever comes his way.
- 6:14Speaker 2: And he mistakes to happen, it's just part of how
- 6:15Speaker 2: he plays. And I think he's started to rain some
- 6:18Speaker 2: of that back and try to pick and choose his
- 6:21Speaker 2: spots a little bit more. And that's you know, that's
- 6:22Speaker 2: what happens. Is he a little older in this game,
- 6:25Speaker 2: and it's great to see. I mean, he's just incredibly talented.
- 6:28Speaker 2: The guy is a always been a great athlete and
- 6:30Speaker 2: always things come easier to him than other people, and
- 6:34Speaker 2: so to see these adjustments is always good thing. He's
- 6:37Speaker 2: kept a little bit of the free swinger because he
- 6:39Speaker 2: knows that makes it is part of who he is.
- 6:42Speaker 2: But you know, it's not just ball comes out of
- 6:44Speaker 2: the hand, it's his swing anymore. And he's always, you know,
- 6:48Speaker 2: leave it over the plate. You're always in danger of
- 6:50Speaker 2: giving up the one way back.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Three forty six, three seventy five, hundred two strikeouts in
- 6:58Speaker 1: twenty six at bats in the postseason. It's really good
- 7:02Speaker 1: for Hobby Buys. All right, enough offense, Let's get to pitching,
- 7:04Speaker 1: shall we. First off, shout out Troy Melton. Three scoreless
- 7:08Speaker 1: innings for the Tigers. He's a dude, he's very young,
- 7:12Speaker 1: he's special, and aj Hinch has himself a weapon here,
- 7:15Speaker 1: especially if this team advances. I mean, this is the
- 7:17Speaker 1: guy who can pick up big outs for you and
- 7:19Speaker 1: multiple innings, doing so out of the bullpen or in
- 7:22Speaker 1: a starting role.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Yeah, they're gonna need him. He's a bold guy. He
- 7:26Speaker 2: can take the ball for multiple innings. That's very important
- 7:29Speaker 2: to leave have at least at one of those guys
- 7:31Speaker 2: just in case, you know, it hits the fan for
- 7:34Speaker 2: their starter. But I mean, a guy can throw up
- 7:36Speaker 2: two hundred miles out. The only thing's really hurt him
- 7:38Speaker 2: is a couple of solo home runs. You know, he
- 7:39Speaker 2: gave one up to Okio, he gave one up to
- 7:40Speaker 2: Roriguez in the first game. But outside of that, he's
- 7:44Speaker 2: been pretty nails and tough too tough to really get
- 7:48Speaker 2: get string a lot of hits against.
- 7:49Speaker 3: And that's kind of the name of the game. In
- 7:50Speaker 3: the playoffs.
- 7:51Speaker 2: You got that guy, uh, and you need him to
- 7:53Speaker 2: go go take care of business. I mean, he did
- 7:56Speaker 2: exactly what he needed to do in this situation, and
- 7:58Speaker 2: he locked.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Him down when they had the beginning.
- 8:00Speaker 2: He made sure he went up and threw some zeros
- 8:02Speaker 2: and kept that momentum on the home side dugout. And
- 8:07Speaker 2: that's why it's kind of so scary that the momentum
- 8:10Speaker 2: has swung back and forth.
- 8:11Speaker 3: It's a pendulum in this in this series.
- 8:13Speaker 2: So Kerric Scouble, Game five not what you're looking for
- 8:19Speaker 2: if you are a Mariners fan, not at all.
- 8:23Speaker 1: No, Well, I got one more and then I want
- 8:25Speaker 1: to get to the pitching matchup going forward here, Casey
- 8:30Speaker 1: my six strikeouts, three innings, one run. Aj Hinch let
- 8:35Speaker 1: him go three innings last time around. He looked pretty sharp.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Did give up a run. It's an elimination game. And
- 8:42Speaker 1: this is the style that Detroit puts out to the
- 8:45Speaker 1: world in the postseason. This is nothing new, So I
- 8:48Speaker 1: wasn't surprised when he was pulled. But did you feel
- 8:51Speaker 1: like Casey my should have been left in the game.
- 8:53Speaker 1: It doesn't matter now because the Tigers won, But if
- 8:56Speaker 1: the Tigers had lost, right, if the offense didn't light up,
- 8:59Speaker 1: then that have been the storyline here. Hey, you took
- 9:01Speaker 1: him out, Troy or Tyler Holton didn't do well, right,
- 9:05Speaker 1: and you're relying on so many people to be perfect
- 9:07Speaker 1: in the bullpen in this time around, it ends up
- 9:10Speaker 1: working out for them. You know, the bullpen's able to
- 9:12Speaker 1: hold off Seattle after Holton to give them enough time
- 9:16Speaker 1: to come back.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it felt like a foregone conclusion before the game
- 9:20Speaker 2: started that he was gonna not be out there past
- 9:23Speaker 2: that point. When he guy strikes out six of gets
- 9:26Speaker 2: six to nine ounce via strikeout, and gives up the
- 9:28Speaker 2: one run, But he pitches another inning after giving up
- 9:31Speaker 2: that run. I don't know, like that's not a leash,
- 9:34Speaker 2: that's that's when he was scheduled to come out. So
- 9:38Speaker 2: I don't necessarily like that doesn't feel as purposeful enough
- 9:43Speaker 2: for me.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Or read on anything.
- 9:47Speaker 2: It feels like it was just fore gone, and sometimes
- 9:49Speaker 2: you can I feel like that backfiring.
- 9:52Speaker 3: I would rather.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I would rather an in game decision, maybe, like if
- 9:59Speaker 2: you pull him and then and the Wholton thing happens
- 10:01Speaker 2: after a single or whatever, like and then another run scores.
- 10:05Speaker 3: I can live with that.
- 10:06Speaker 2: I would live with that situation more like you gave
- 10:08Speaker 2: him a chance. Even though the leash was about this long.
- 10:10Speaker 2: At least there was a leash, you know, it felt
- 10:12Speaker 2: like it was just didn't matter how good he could
- 10:15Speaker 2: have been. Nine up, nine down, nine strikeouts. Maybe he
- 10:18Speaker 2: stays in, but they still probably go batter, but batter
- 10:20Speaker 2: at that point, so it's like, how good does he
- 10:22Speaker 2: have to be? I think giving up zeros is the
- 10:25Speaker 2: way we've talked about this a lot earlier on foul Territory.
- 10:29Speaker 3: I mean, the same thing's gonna happen with Noah.
- 10:32Speaker 2: He's gonna have to he can't even remotely give a
- 10:34Speaker 2: whiff that a run is going to be scored or
- 10:36Speaker 2: he's going to be out of the game. So like
- 10:38Speaker 2: that's just kind of what happened. Maybe if my didn't
- 10:40Speaker 2: give up the run, but like, yeah, it just felt
- 10:42Speaker 2: very like all right, thank you for your three. And
- 10:46Speaker 2: if I'm a starting pitcher and it didn't look like
- 10:48Speaker 2: he was, like, well, okay, I.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Could have given you more.
- 10:51Speaker 2: I as a starter, you want to go out there
- 10:53Speaker 2: and your dream is to be the one that's like,
- 10:55Speaker 2: come on, give me the ball, privee, this ball out
- 10:57Speaker 2: of my cold dead fingers situation. And I don't know,
- 11:01Speaker 2: it's it feels very like anticlimactic and not not. It
- 11:07Speaker 2: didn't feel like he did your job, and I could
- 11:09Speaker 2: see that kind of on's face, even though I think
- 11:11Speaker 2: he did do his job.
- 11:11Speaker 3: It's just I don't know.
- 11:13Speaker 2: It's it's a little bit of a the story is
- 11:16Speaker 2: not as fun if that's how pitching is always done.
- 11:20Speaker 2: So it's just there's a lot of way things you
- 11:22Speaker 2: can say about it. But yeah, fortunately they did win
- 11:25Speaker 2: the game and it isn't part of the part of
- 11:27Speaker 2: the big greater equation.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Yeah, and this stuff was sharp.
- 11:30Speaker 1: So if he does get another turn, and it's not
- 11:34Speaker 1: a do or die game for the Tigers, right, an
- 11:37Speaker 1: elimination scenario for them, maybe he does get a longer leash.
- 11:41Speaker 3: We'll see.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Okay, let's spind it forward. What do you have for
- 11:44Speaker 1: me Trevor Game five, Trek Scoogle regular rest against maybe
- 11:49Speaker 1: a George Kirby Luis gas Stillo combination. You have to
- 11:54Speaker 1: feel at least a little bit dejected about parts of
- 11:56Speaker 1: your bullpen from today's game that Detroit was able to crack.
- 12:00Speaker 1: But in other ways, of course, you'll be able to
- 12:02Speaker 1: use munos, probably for six outs. How would you craft
- 12:07Speaker 1: this game if you're Seattle, Because for Detroit it's hey, Trek,
- 12:11Speaker 1: can you give me seven and change or eight so
- 12:14Speaker 1: we can have you and vest in goodnight.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:19Speaker 2: For Seattle, it's just a question of which one of
- 12:21Speaker 2: those two guys you start and how quickly you go
- 12:24Speaker 2: to the other one. My guest would be probably you
- 12:28Speaker 2: start Castillo because he's has historically had good, good success
- 12:32Speaker 2: against Detroit and he's matched up had to head with
- 12:34Speaker 2: Trek Scoogle, which the Mariners.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Won both times. I don't know if he factored in
- 12:38Speaker 3: the decision, but like.
- 12:38Speaker 2: He goes had to head, he goes toe to toe.
- 12:41Speaker 2: That is very much his style. And I think maybe
- 12:44Speaker 2: Kirby may may be a little bit more a tougher
- 12:48Speaker 2: to get a like a handle on as a reliever.
- 12:51Speaker 2: You know, throws lots of pitches, you know, really nasty stuff,
- 12:54Speaker 2: pitches moving all over the place. And Castillo is more
- 12:56Speaker 2: of a three pitch guy. You know what you're gonna get.
- 12:59Speaker 2: It's just gonna be about commanding it. And he's gonna
- 13:01Speaker 2: go right after you. So I would assume that'll be
- 13:04Speaker 2: the way they go, and they'll play it first sign
- 13:07Speaker 2: of first sign of danger, put in another guy, and
- 13:12Speaker 2: then on the hitting side against Sarah Scooble.
- 13:15Speaker 3: You did just see him.
- 13:16Speaker 2: There is no matter how good a guy is, you know,
- 13:19Speaker 2: school scoops throws four pitches most of the time. He's
- 13:22Speaker 2: not out there throwing an arsenal. He's not seth logo.
- 13:25Speaker 2: So like he can't just completely be a different pitcher.
- 13:27Speaker 2: He's gonna do He's gonna try to do the same
- 13:29Speaker 2: things he did to you last time. And it's gonna
- 13:32Speaker 2: be about putting a lot of pressure on him and
- 13:33Speaker 2: running his pitch count up. And this is do or die,
- 13:36Speaker 2: Like you got to find a way to get on base,
- 13:38Speaker 2: and I think that the Marriers lineup is up for
- 13:40Speaker 2: that task. I don't anticipate this. I don't anticipate either
- 13:44Speaker 2: start or factoring.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Into this decision. Let's just put it that way. I
- 13:47Speaker 3: think it's I think we.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Got another extra inning game to come on our hands.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Okay, So, if you're scoobl and you look back at
- 13:56Speaker 1: your last start, there was one major issue. His name
- 14:00Speaker 1: is Jorge Polanco. He hit two home runs off of you.
- 14:04Speaker 1: How carefully do you pitch against him? And I remember
- 14:07Speaker 1: there was a lot of discussion about how the Mariners
- 14:10Speaker 1: handle change ups. Well, do you change your approach at
- 14:13Speaker 1: all and chuck the changeup more frequently than you did
- 14:16Speaker 1: last time. I don't have the percentages in front of me,
- 14:19Speaker 1: because maybe your best changeup is still better than a
- 14:23Speaker 1: strength for a team, since it's Trek's Scouble's change up. Right,
- 14:26Speaker 1: when we look at numbers for the year on how
- 14:28Speaker 1: teams do against pitches, we're talking about all humans that pitch,
- 14:33Speaker 1: not Terrek's Scouble like humans.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I think he might lean on it a little
- 14:39Speaker 2: bit more, especially Polanco. Historically, Blanco I struggled with change
- 14:44Speaker 2: ups a little bit more than raking balls. But for
- 14:47Speaker 2: whatever reason, they are very intent on taking that thing
- 14:49Speaker 2: away from him, and they've done a good job of
- 14:51Speaker 2: that all three times he pitched against them. So I
- 14:54Speaker 2: think he has a point if he's trying to not
- 14:57Speaker 2: necessarily just get rid of it, obviously you can't just
- 14:59Speaker 2: get rid of your best pitch, but trying to find
- 15:02Speaker 2: other ways to get to get these guys out. But
- 15:04Speaker 2: without that change up, if that change up is battled
- 15:07Speaker 2: and taken away, the strikeout numbers go way down because
- 15:09Speaker 2: he's it's the push and pull, the fastball and the
- 15:11Speaker 2: change up.
- 15:12Speaker 3: So when that happens, a lot more contact, a lot
- 15:15Speaker 3: more hits.
- 15:15Speaker 2: So do I anticipate him going to that strength more
- 15:19Speaker 2: and just really trusting it and just being like, you
- 15:21Speaker 2: know what it is, what it is, let's go right
- 15:23Speaker 2: after him. That's very much He's a go right after
- 15:25Speaker 2: you guy. And there might be a switch tickets flipped
- 15:29Speaker 2: at some point where he's like, I don't care what
- 15:30Speaker 2: you guys think is coming.
- 15:31Speaker 3: I'm gonna throw this thing.
- 15:33Speaker 2: And the best manners probably can do against it is
- 15:36Speaker 2: keep it from we keep them swinging and missing, try
- 15:39Speaker 2: to foul it off, trial it off, get another pitch.
- 15:42Speaker 3: And see you see what you can do.
- 15:44Speaker 2: But I don't think they're under any illusions that they're like,
- 15:46Speaker 2: we're not going to go put up eight runs on
- 15:47Speaker 2: Terry Scougle, Like probably not, but what we gotta do
- 15:51Speaker 2: is jump on and jump on them early. If we're
- 15:52Speaker 2: going to score plus's some runs, we got to get
- 15:54Speaker 2: it early in the game. And if not, we need
- 15:57Speaker 2: him to throw as many pitches as humanly possible because
- 16:00Speaker 2: Troy's outside of as Detroit's bullpen's been a little leaky too,
- 16:03Speaker 2: So get him off the mound will be their number
- 16:06Speaker 2: one priority.
- 16:08Speaker 1: And if you're a Mariners fan and you somehow made
- 16:11Speaker 1: it through this whole conversation here, three times you've beaten
- 16:16Speaker 1: Trek Scoobel this year, twice in the regular season and
- 16:18Speaker 1: once in the postseason talking about games that he has started,
- 16:21Speaker 1: and the result has been a Mariners win. That's a
- 16:24Speaker 1: good sign for Seattle. So I've got two things left
- 16:27Speaker 1: on my agenda. One is Seattle wins the game if what,
- 16:33Speaker 1: And maybe we factor in the offense a little bit
- 16:35Speaker 1: here because there are a lot of superstars.
- 16:38Speaker 3: It's not like they had a terrible game.
- 16:40Speaker 1: They put up three runs, but they had really been
- 16:42Speaker 1: showing us something different this season. And you know, early
- 16:45Speaker 1: on in the postseason here, with the offense being able
- 16:48Speaker 1: to provide contact, timely hits and pop.
- 16:54Speaker 2: I'm going to go very hyper specific. Okay, I think
- 16:59Speaker 2: if the game ends with Randy Rosarina with two extra
- 17:04Speaker 2: base hits, if he gets two.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Or more, maris why Okay, so Randy's I.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Think Randy's max factor. He has been quiet. He is
- 17:13Speaker 2: notoriously a big game. He is not afraid of anybody,
- 17:17Speaker 2: and I could see him leading, like clipping him in
- 17:20Speaker 2: the first like first batter of the game, or you know,
- 17:24Speaker 2: getting starting off an inning. I'm putting some pressure on
- 17:27Speaker 2: him for the for the guys who who have been
- 17:30Speaker 2: really getting the job done the whole series.
- 17:32Speaker 3: That is the way that this would.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Happen, I think, and Randy Rosania might be the key.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I think that if he does that, other guys will
- 17:39Speaker 2: have their opportunities to drive him in and that will
- 17:41Speaker 2: equate to more rocks.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Okay, I like it.
- 17:44Speaker 1: And lastly, thoughts on Josh Naylor's super obvious fun at
- 17:51Speaker 1: second base to try and tell his teammates what he
- 17:53Speaker 1: was seeing, whether there was deception or not. I mean,
- 17:56Speaker 1: I don't know if you picked up exactly what he
- 17:58Speaker 1: was doing on a pitch by pitchs We didn't have
- 18:00Speaker 1: the nailor camp for every pitch, but they did a
- 18:03Speaker 1: really good job on Fox of documenting what was going on.
- 18:07Speaker 1: So this has become a hot topic. Which did you
- 18:09Speaker 1: think of the way Naylor was doing it?
- 18:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it was I was listening to AJ on the
- 18:15Speaker 2: broadcast and WNO and they were like is he doing anything?
- 18:19Speaker 3: Is this real? Is this for show? And why would
- 18:21Speaker 3: you do it for show?
- 18:22Speaker 2: And then also what I know about Josh Naylor is
- 18:25Speaker 2: he would do this for show just to be annoying,
- 18:28Speaker 2: like that's it, that's the only really reason, just to
- 18:31Speaker 2: get in the guy's head.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Which if that.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Were the case, mission accomplished because it was O two
- 18:36Speaker 2: and then he walked him. There was a couple like this,
- 18:39Speaker 2: the flicks here this is change up. Usually right like
- 18:43Speaker 2: this this like flick means change up. A couple of
- 18:45Speaker 2: times he did that, a change up was thrown and
- 18:47Speaker 2: Mitch took swings like he was new and change up
- 18:50Speaker 2: was going. But then there's other times where he was
- 18:52Speaker 2: like like just going up and down. One time he
- 18:55Speaker 2: flapped his arms, the other time he went out. Sometimes
- 18:57Speaker 2: he went in like it's almost as if he was
- 18:58Speaker 2: giving the He's like, i'll give you the location if
- 19:00Speaker 2: I can't see the pitch, but if I can't see
- 19:02Speaker 2: the pitch.
- 19:02Speaker 3: I'll give you the pitch.
- 19:03Speaker 2: That's what it felt like because Holton like gets his
- 19:06Speaker 2: grip and then turns his glove a little bit sometimes
- 19:10Speaker 2: and then change up. It's a bigger grip, so like
- 19:12Speaker 2: you see more hand usually and and I saw it
- 19:15Speaker 2: a little bit like when he comes sack kind of slowly.
- 19:17Speaker 2: So the interesting thing was he kept looking back at
- 19:21Speaker 2: him and knew what he was doing. And this reminds
- 19:23Speaker 2: me of when Judge was doing it to Lozardo and
- 19:27Speaker 2: like Lazard's like or no, not Judge, it was the
- 19:30Speaker 2: it was sorry, it was story and the it was
- 19:32Speaker 2: the Red Sox, but they were doing it too, and
- 19:35Speaker 2: he was just looking. He knew, but like there's nothing
- 19:37Speaker 2: he could do because it was something to do with
- 19:39Speaker 2: how he's gripping the ball, not signs related. There's nothing
- 19:42Speaker 2: really to change. I have to change your mechanics in
- 19:43Speaker 2: the middle of the outing, and it's really hard to do.
- 19:45Speaker 2: So sometimes you can go out there and you can say, hey,
- 19:49Speaker 2: something's happening.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Something's happening.
- 19:51Speaker 2: You could be throwing in fake signs where a hitter
- 19:53Speaker 2: is like, I know those things don't mean anything, but
- 19:55Speaker 2: I know a couple of them do, and that's maybe
- 19:58Speaker 2: enough to get a guy thinking, like, am I might
- 20:00Speaker 2: mechanically showing anything? And as soon as the guy's thinking
- 20:02Speaker 2: about mechanics, it is very hard to compete.
- 20:05Speaker 3: And that might be what's some of it is. I
- 20:09Speaker 3: might be.
- 20:10Speaker 2: I know it would drive me insane. I would not
- 20:12Speaker 2: be sure they didn't have anything. But I don't have
- 20:15Speaker 2: time to think about what that might be because I
- 20:17Speaker 2: have to pitch like that's clever. It's pretty clever, and
- 20:22Speaker 2: there's not a lot of stepping off you can do now,
- 20:24Speaker 2: so I can't really fix it in real time. This
- 20:27Speaker 2: might be something needs to be dressed in the future.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Yeah, and if you're a J.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Hinch, you might not press that button again, at least
- 20:33Speaker 1: for game five. I mean, you hope that you aren't
- 20:36Speaker 1: only using maybe two or three pitchers anyway, But I
- 20:39Speaker 1: would make a pretty but big bet that unless this
- 20:42Speaker 1: thing goes eighteen innings or something like you're saying, then
- 20:46Speaker 1: he might not appear in this next game, or he's
- 20:48Speaker 1: got to fix it really quickly if there is something
- 20:50Speaker 1: that they've got on him. Anyway, any thoughts that anyone
- 20:53Speaker 1: has from watching this drop him in the comments let
- 20:55Speaker 1: us know. Trevor's in the Seattle area, so it's going
- 20:58Speaker 1: to be super cool for Game five out there. Hey,
- 21:01Speaker 1: they waited a long time for postseason baseball. Part of
- 21:04Speaker 1: postseason baseball is stress, thinking that you have a game
- 21:08Speaker 1: or a series one and then you don't. You had
- 21:11Speaker 1: a three to nothing lead. There's booing going on in Detroit.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Everyone thinks it's done, and then the game flips and
- 21:18Speaker 1: here we go. So we're going to a game five.
- 21:20Speaker 3: No one said it was gonna be easy.
- 21:23Speaker 1: No, not at all dream season for Mariners fans, but
- 21:27Speaker 1: that could change if they're bounced from the Alds. Anyway,
- 21:29Speaker 1: we'll have plenty more word on that series when it
- 21:32Speaker 1: comes up, or that Game five when it comes up.
- 21:34Speaker 1: We'll have a lot more on foul Territory when we
- 21:37Speaker 1: do Thursday show at one o'clock Eastern time, and stay tuned.
