  obviously here in Arizona. So all of our Arizona people, we

  all go out there, we go down to Newport Beach and they rent like
• 1:57
  one of those tiered yachts. So there's like 3 stories, first

  stories like a bar lounge area, middle stories like where they
• 2:07
  set up tables and you have dinner and then there's like
• 2:09
  that upper deck, right? So before this party they
• 2:16
  announced like, hey, we have like, we're going to do raffles,
• 2:19
  we're going to do prizes, right? And we don't know no one, no
• 2:27
  one's told like what the prizes are.
• 2:29
  We don't like hear anything, right?

  So we show up to the boat and they make it like a casino
• 2:36
  night. So that's why we're all kind of

  like fancy dressed, right? And I was actually under
• 2:39
  dressed. Everyone else is like wearing a
• 2:41
  tie. And I was like Yikes.

  But anyway, we show up, it's casino night.

  So it's like fake play money. And they had, they like hired
• 2:50
  dealers and they have like tables set up.

  So you play blackjack. I learned how to play craps,
• 2:54
  which is like super fun. Like when you figure out the
• 2:58
  rules of crafts, it's fun. You just like everyone's like on
• 3:02
  the same team. You kind of just root for the
• 3:03
  whole table. Whoever's rolling the dice like
• 3:05
  you're rooting for them, right? Anyway, but the way to win the
• 3:11
  raffle is you, you, you walked in, they give you like a $500.00
• 3:16
  bill and you buy your chips with it.
• 3:18
  And then you, you know, play games and like try to build up
• 3:22
  and then they'll pay you out where you get 1 raffle ticket
• 3:25
  per 100 bucks. So I ended up doing pretty well.
• 3:30
  I think I had like like 11 tickets.
• 3:34
  So I turned the 500. New 1100 Paige also did well.
• 3:40
  I think she did. I think she had 900, something
• 3:43
  like that. So between the two of us, we had
• 3:46
  20 tickets and there's four prizes.

  OK, so I'll tell you what the prizes were after, but we're
• 3:56
  like sprinkling the tickets in and kind of like giving it up.

  We're like one of the last people to put them in

  containers, like shaking or whatever.

  So they go through, we're having dinner, they announce like all

  the stuff, right and read off the ticket.

  And dude, we won. What did you win?

  Did you win a new house? A5 day cruise.

  But when they announced it, everyone was like I'm going to

  we had everyone had their significant others.

  we're just all rooting and dude, we put our tickets in and sure

  punches go in the league coming into this year, it was like

  punch, that's insane. Gallon down here and Burns, man,

  like this is tough news. This is hard to take and they

  put themselves in a hole early in the first third of the

  season. I think we're about it's not

  good, man. I don't know how to spin this in

  a positive way. I know their offense is always

  going to be there, but like, well.

  To that point, to that, to that point, top still a top five

  offense in baseball at this moment in time and bottom third,

  I guess you could say in terms of what you're getting out of

  your staff across all of baseball.

  So I don't, I don't know, with the way the Padres are playing

  this year, it seems as though they're building off of the the

  momentum that they, well, aside from the year not ending the way

  they wanted it to, all things considered, building off the

  momentum from last year. I know it's, I know, hey, I know

  But when do we start? It's June.

  But like we also said, June can mean it's early, but also June

  is the point where we start having real hard, sometimes

  difficult conversations about players and teams, about, OK, is

  things up. But for the Diamondbacks, when

  do we start having the conversation that maybe they're

  like hovering around being an A, being a 500 team, which is not

  the National League look in the way that it does, it's not going

  to happen. You're not going to be able to

  make anything happen. You really can't.

  central just all kind of hovering around that same, you

  say the central is as good as the West, but the central is

  just as deep as far as middle of the road 500.

  team in the central, I feel like that team has a better chance of

  of getting in then the Diamondbacks do right now,

  Well, that kind of brings up a question, and I hate to be this

  been known to float a conspiracy or two.

  Always down. To do we do we think that there

  was a little, let's just call it awareness on the part of the

  Baltimore Orioles that maybe wasn't made fully public or made

  aware to the rest of the baseball?

  World, I'm not in the position to give the Orioles any credit.

  I refuse. I'm not in that camp.

  Maybe there is someone in that camp, but I doubt it.

  I I just want to say I don't, I don't believe that to be the

  case, but I have seen that floated around.

  Like, is that why he asked the Diamondbacks to to pitch in so

  he could be at home whenever the inevitable happened?

  I I'm just playing. Obviously it sucks not laughing

  matter of of somebody don't do that.

  But it's it's just the way our game is, man.

  It's kind of inevitable. It's just it's it sucks that big

  names, it's happening to big names.

  It sucks that it's happening to names in their prime and it

  sucks that like you, we, we don't know.

  I think we take for granted sometimes we're like, we see

  this surgery so much that we're like, I'll just get it done,

  like we don't know that. We don't know that every guy is

  poised to be better when they come back.

  You just, you hear those stories and you kind of hope so it's

  tough that this is the beginning of the contract.

  It's tough that there doesn't seem to be any reinforcements.

  No one's like filling that gap. And you know, if I use that same

  1-2 punch as an analogy, obviously with Garrett Cole

  going down with the Yankees, like Max Freed has stepped up

  into that. I we don't know if Zach Gallon

  is going to flip that switch and be able to become that because

  so far it doesn't seem like he's that guy this year.

  No, Zach Gallon's been a shell of himself.

  But it's a it's a bigger conversation than just the 2025

  Going to ask for how much do we? I mean, at this point, he's

  won't see Corbin Burns until 2027 because I saw that the

  initial thought is that it's going to be longer than a 1212

  month timetable for him and his specific case.

  maybe they maybe they try to milk it, just make sure he's

  fresh for 2027 rather than try to expedite the process for

  Major League pitchers had undergone Tommy John surgery.

  There were more Tommy John surgeries in Major League

  Baseball in 2024 than in the entire decade of the 1990s.

  Something's got to give, man. In twenty, 2335.3% of Major

  League pitchers that undergone surgery, a 29% increase from

  2016. Something's got to give, all

  right? But we hear everyone wants to

  call mold heads, but we hear guys in the booth like a John

  Smoltz and David Cone. We hear these guys that say it

  like you, you can't just throw like we got it.

  Got to get back to pitching. Also, I'm not saying I was for

  spider attack, but like if we don't come up with a solution to

  help these guys get a grip on a baseball, this may be what's

  going to continue to happen. And Tyler Glass now has come out

  Like I'm having to hold this and grip it harder because I don't

  have that grip and who knows what that's doing.

  On top of that, we have a pitch clock.

  system and rarely go over 100 pitches.

  We have guys that are at innings limits with like.

  There has to be some type of adjustment in the mentality and

  adjustment in philosophy. It's that that's what it is.

  Stop chucking it as hard as you can.

  arbitrary benchmarks like got to reach 100 or else why bother

  taking the ball? You got to be able to hit the

  about it all the time. Fundamentals still matter,

  folks. What good, what good does it do

  to chase Velo if you're going to be on the shelf for 16 months

  because you can't lift your arm? Like 100%.

  And and that's why I don't I don't mean to always bring it

  back to the Yankees. It's just it kind of yeah, you

  do it comes to mind. But like, they, they were

  thing he came up when he did, because if he was pitching in

  youth baseball now as in high school or college, like he's

  not, his career is done. And that that philosophy has to

  change like it has. I don't know how, I don't know

  who it's done by. I don't think we need to tailor

  the rules to sway their way. I don't think we need to talk
• 22:16
  about raising the mound or anything.

  I don't think we need to talk about broadening the strike

  zone. I think we need an actual

  philosophy on how we can attack hitters, how we can get hitters

  out. And it doesn't have to because

  like at a certain point, hitters are, are freaks too, man.

  Like it doesn't matter if you're throwing one or two.

  I'm going to turn that around. I'm going to time that up

  eventually, find a different way, find the old way of doing

  things because God forbid we tried something that worked for

  decades. The reason our game is what it

  is now. We can't just sit here and say,

  oh, old head, like baseball sucked back then.

  mindsets, all of those pitches invented, all of those grips and

  movement and all of those things.

  It's the whole point. It's it's trying to get hitters

  out. It's not about having as many

  strikeouts as humanly possible, as many swings and misses as

  humanly possible. And This is why like you can, if

  we lose you as a fan, if we lose you as a listener, like I'm

  sorry, but there's a reason why you and I talk baseball IQ.

  We talk fundamentals, we talk things that make our game what

  it is and when you just sit back and rear back as hard as you can

  over and over again, that to me isn't impressive.

  and try to do what he did. Manipulate pitches, paint the

  black, get guys out of a real creative way.
