- 0:00Speaker 1: Woo!
- 0:01Speaker 2: Stu Gatz.
- 0:01Speaker 1: Woo!
- 0:02Speaker 3: I gotta be honest with you, Bruce, there's a good
- 0:03Speaker 3: chance I'd be high anyway.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Woo!
- 0:05Speaker 4: And I'm wondering how the football weekend was. Were you
- 0:07Speaker 4: able to watch it? Wow, what happened?
- 0:09Speaker 3: Oh, I'm tired of him.
- 0:12Speaker 4: I'm serious. How about that? In company.
- 0:15Speaker 5: We are mother shuckers, baby.
- 0:17Speaker 6: Woo!
- 0:17Speaker 1: Bruce, does Faison Brandon's name sound like it's on backwards?
- 0:20Speaker 4: No doubt.
- 0:21Speaker 1: It's time to get your.
- 0:23Speaker 1: It's time to get your financials. To get the all boat.
- 0:28Speaker 4: You got nothing right there.
- 0:29Speaker 1: This is not going well.
- 0:31Speaker 2: This is Stu Gotts and Company.
- 0:34Speaker 4: Stu, back to you.
- 0:35Speaker 3: It is Stu Gotts and Company presented by FanDuel and
- 0:37Speaker 3: the FanDuel Sportsbook. Greg McElroy going to join us. Talk
- 0:42Speaker 3: some college football as we head into a big weekend.
- 0:44Speaker 3: I stressed the McElroy there. You noticed that, Mikey.
- 0:47Speaker 4: You gave me a nod of approval.
- 0:49Speaker 7: You haven't gotten it right in the entire time I've
- 0:51Speaker 7: known you, and it's frankly becoming like a thing for me.
- 0:54Speaker 5: It's like a pet peeve for me that you can't
- 0:56Speaker 5: say that name.
- 0:58Speaker 4: What do you want from me, man?
- 1:00Speaker 5: Say the name right like you just did.
- 1:02Speaker 3: I know, but it's hard. We all have words. I
- 1:08Speaker 3: just have a lot more words than others.
- 1:09Speaker 4: That's all.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Anyway, the Cowboys lose. We'll talk to Greg coming up
- 1:13Speaker 3: here in about five minutes. Cowboys lose Thursday night football.
- 1:16Speaker 3: I'm tired of talking about the Cowboys. We've been talking
- 1:18Speaker 3: about the Cowboys for 30 years. They're never good. Well,
- 1:22Speaker 3: here's the problem. They're not good, and they're always relevant.
- 1:25Speaker 3: And I don't know what to do with the Dallas Cowboys.
- 1:28Speaker 7: They're never bad. They're never bad, but they're always under expectations.
- 1:35Speaker 7: And I mean, you go into a game against a
- 1:38Speaker 7: reeling team. You were even saying that it's possible Todd
- 1:43Speaker 7: Bowles gets fired on Friday when.
- 1:45Speaker 4: They lose this game. Well, Bomani said that to us.
- 1:47Speaker 5: Bomani said that. That's right.
- 1:49Speaker 7: And I'm looking at that game and I go, all right,
- 1:51Speaker 7: if you're the Cowboys, the only things you can't do
- 1:55Speaker 7: is make stupid mistakes with penalties and let them run
- 1:58Speaker 7: the ball. And that's exactly what they let Tampa do.
- 2:01Speaker 7: They let Tampa do whatever they wanted. They held the ball.
- 2:05Speaker 7: almost the entire first quarter.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:08Speaker 5: I just don't understand.
- 2:09Speaker 7: This isn't a fire a coach after a game for
- 2:13Speaker 7: the Cowboys, but this is, I'm looking at a coach
- 2:16Speaker 7: side-eye because this is, this was a terrible performance.
- 2:20Speaker 3: It's the rare game where you went in thinking the
- 2:22Speaker 3: Bucks coach's job was on the line. And it turns
- 2:24Speaker 3: out the Cowboys coach is the one who might be
- 2:27Speaker 3: fired today.
- 2:28Speaker 4: Todd Bowles has nine lives and shoddy.
- 2:30Speaker 3: I'm telling you right now, Jerry Jones cares too much
- 2:33Speaker 3: about this organization and to watch his team at home
- 2:36Speaker 3: against a backup quarterback, undrafted quarterback, play that poorly, he's
- 2:40Speaker 3: not going to stand for it.
- 2:41Speaker 4: He's just not.
- 2:43Speaker 1: So I don't think you fire Schottenheimer today. At the
- 2:45Speaker 1: very least, Christian Parker, the defensive coordinator who they just
- 2:49Speaker 1: brought in this season, pack your bags.
- 2:51Speaker 5: It's over.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Once Jalen Daniels connects on that third and 21 where
- 2:55Speaker 1: you drop seven people back into coverage and he converts
- 2:59Speaker 1: it effortlessly– Like the Cowboys, the Cowboys lost the can't
- 3:04Speaker 1: lose game. This was as can't lose a game as
- 3:07Speaker 1: the Cowboys had.
- 3:08Speaker 4: You put a W next to it. Yes.
- 3:10Speaker 5: It feels like.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Every time the Cowboys lose embarrassingly, you're like, it possibly
- 3:17Speaker 1: can't get worse than this. Then it somehow always gets
- 3:22Speaker 1: worse than this because they're at home. They're against a
- 3:25Speaker 1: winless opponent. It's an undrafted rookie quarterback making his second
- 3:29Speaker 1: start ever on national TV.
- 3:31Speaker 4: He's good.
- 3:32Speaker 1: This Cowboys team is an absolute dumpster fire.
- 3:35Speaker 5: He's not even good. He was throwing the pass to McMillan.
- 3:40Speaker 5: McMillan did not have a guy.
- 3:42Speaker 7: In the same zip code near him wearing a Cowboys uniform.
- 3:46Speaker 7: And McMillan's still under throw. And Jalen, what's his name?
- 3:51Speaker 4: Jalen Daniels. Jalen Daniels.
- 3:53Speaker 7: Still under through him. And that's the only reason it
- 3:55Speaker 7: wasn't a touchdown. The Cowboys put on a clinic of
- 3:59Speaker 7: what you can't do against a undrafted rookie quarterback, making
- 4:04Speaker 7: his first road start ever.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Took them lightly. They did.
- 4:08Speaker 3: It seemed like they took the game very, and they
- 4:09Speaker 3: have no business taking anyone lightly that the Dallas Cowboys,
- 4:12Speaker 3: they came into that game one and two. Imagine if
- 4:14Speaker 3: you're Jerry Jones, Mikey, and you're sitting there and you're
- 4:17Speaker 3: watching John Harbaugh go three and one, right?
- 4:20Speaker 4: Coaching means a lot in the NFL. I believe it does.
- 4:23Speaker 3: John Harbaugh going 3-1 with Jameis Winston, who's not even
- 4:26Speaker 3: playing well. And his guy, he's got Dak Prescott and
- 4:30Speaker 3: two world-class wide receivers. I would say two top 20
- 4:34Speaker 3: wide receivers in the NFL, and his team's 1-3.
- 4:37Speaker 4: He has to be outraged today.
- 4:39Speaker 7: Not only that, they were able to run the ball
- 4:41Speaker 7: a little bit.
- 4:42Speaker 5: They just kind of gave up.
- 4:44Speaker 7: The Cowboys played that game like they were constantly waiting
- 4:47Speaker 7: for for the universe to write the ship like oh
- 4:50Speaker 7: no we'll we'll get there how cute they gotta they
- 4:53Speaker 7: got a touchdown on us they just kept waiting for
- 4:56Speaker 7: like the bucks to roll over and die to todd
- 4:58Speaker 7: balls's credit they did it to me cd lamb almost
- 5:02Speaker 7: looked disinterested after after dac couldn't hit him like he
- 5:07Speaker 7: was thrown at his feet he was sailing one over
- 5:10Speaker 7: his head And, I mean, Lamb coming off 17 catches
- 5:14Speaker 7: last week for 189 yards. He got five targets, two receptions,
- 5:20Speaker 7: 19 yards. That's the kind of stuff that makes Diva
- 5:23Speaker 7: wide receivers upset.
- 5:24Speaker 5: And I'm not calling CD a Diva yet.
- 5:27Speaker 1: This is a game that kind of just highlights that, like,
- 5:30Speaker 1: all interceptions aren't created equally. Because if you look at
- 5:33Speaker 1: Dak Prescott's box score, and just Dak Prescott's box score, 24-42,
- 5:37Speaker 1: 316 yards, one TD. two interceptions, your gut reaction is
- 5:43Speaker 1: to be like, oh, Dak has to be better. He
- 5:45Speaker 1: can't turn the ball over two times. Then you look
- 5:47Speaker 1: at his two turnovers, and it's like, that last one,
- 5:50Speaker 1: when Dak is driving them up the field down eight,
- 5:53Speaker 1: it hit Jake Ferguson square in the helmet. And Jake Ferguson,
- 5:57Speaker 1: I'm noticing something with Jake Ferguson, where it's like, Jake Ferguson...
- 6:01Speaker 1: You look at his stats and you're like, this guy, wow,
- 6:03Speaker 1: this guy's actually a productive tight end. And then you
- 6:06Speaker 1: watch Jake Ferguson play and you're like, oh, this guy
- 6:09Speaker 1: kind of stinks.
- 6:09Speaker 5: He's good in the end zone.
- 6:12Speaker 4: What are you saying? He gets garbage time stats?
- 6:17Speaker 1: I think the stats that Jake Ferguson puts up, they
- 6:22Speaker 1: never match the eye test in terms of watching him
- 6:25Speaker 1: play in big games.
- 6:27Speaker 4: I'm confused by that. I got to be honest with you.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Like, you look at him and you think he's a
- 6:31Speaker 3: great tight end, and then you look at the stats
- 6:34Speaker 3: and think to.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Yourself, what? Go ahead, Mikey.
- 6:36Speaker 7: Taylor, I got you. He's a perfect Dallas Cowboy. From afar,
- 6:40Speaker 7: from the box score, you're like, man, that guy's good.
- 6:43Speaker 7: And then you watch him, you're like.
- 6:45Speaker 5: No, he's really not.
- 6:46Speaker 1: He's not that good.
- 6:47Speaker 5: He is the Dallas Cowboys incarnate.
- 6:50Speaker 3: If the games were played in a box score, would
- 6:52Speaker 3: Jake Ferguson be the best tight end in football?
- 6:54Speaker 5: Top five tight end.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Yes.
- 6:55Speaker 5: Top five tight end in football.
- 6:57Speaker 1: That's... Stu, that's my point. His stats always seem good,
- 7:01Speaker 1: but then you watch him and it leaves so much
- 7:04Speaker 1: to be desired where you're like, where is he getting
- 7:06Speaker 1: all these stats? Because every time I watch him, it's
- 7:10Speaker 1: very unimpressive.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Yeah, he's putting up big numbers. What were Jake Ferguson's?
- 7:17Speaker 5: I don't understand.
- 7:18Speaker 4: I'm so confused. What were Jake Ferguson's numbers last year?
- 7:22Speaker 4: What were his stats?
- 7:24Speaker 1: He had 600 yards, 82 catches, 600 yards, eight touchdowns.
- 7:29Speaker 7: That's when, that's when he's good. You put him in
- 7:32Speaker 7: the end zone, he'll catch everything. You put him between
- 7:34Speaker 7: the twenties.
- 7:34Speaker 8: Nope.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:35Speaker 3: But he averages like five yards per catch. I mean,
- 7:37Speaker 3: he's just from inside the five, I bet he gets
- 7:41Speaker 3: 80 of.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Them a year.
- 7:44Speaker 1: So Stu, we mentioned, we mentioned that Schottenheimer seat might
- 7:47Speaker 1: be getting a little bit warmer.
- 7:49Speaker 4: It has to be.
- 7:49Speaker 3: I mean, just based on the expectations for the Cowboys
- 7:52Speaker 3: headed into the season and who that owner is, you know?
- 7:55Speaker 1: So we had a listener send in a suggestion for
- 7:58Speaker 1: a game. Yeah. The game is called, you say, The
- 8:02Speaker 1: Coach Out. So I'll phrase it like this. Schottenheimer out. Tomlin.
- 8:15Speaker 4: Tell that listener to go to hell.
- 8:17Speaker 1: I mean, Nick Sirianni out, Tom Lynn.
- 8:21Speaker 4: Oh, God. I understand the game Tom Lynn in. Yes. Okay.
- 8:30Speaker 3: It works because the last two letters of his name
- 8:33Speaker 3: are I-N.
- 8:34Speaker 4: I mean.
- 8:35Speaker 7: You act like if we got Mike Tomlin on, we
- 8:38Speaker 7: wouldn't play Tom Lynn or Tom Lout.
- 8:41Speaker 3: We would, but Nick Sirianni needs to be Nick Sirianu.
- 8:46Speaker 4: He's ended in OU. He's trying to do a word
- 8:49Speaker 4: play game. Is he not?
- 8:51Speaker 1: No, I think, I think the word play is just
- 8:53Speaker 1: the second half of the word.
- 8:53Speaker 5: You don't need to double up on the word play.
- 8:55Speaker 5: You don't need to double. By the way, Cowboys next
- 8:58Speaker 5: game at the Packers.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Right.
- 9:01Speaker 3: So it would be like, it would be like if
- 9:03Speaker 3: Mike Trout were a, were an NFL coach.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Yes.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Mike out. Mike, Tom Lynn, right?
- 9:14Speaker 1: Too much wordplay at that point.
- 9:15Speaker 5: You're doing too much.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Too much wordplay.
- 9:17Speaker 5: The brain can only handle so much.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Okay. If you're the New York Giants and you're watching
- 9:22Speaker 1: this game yesterday, it feels like people in the national
- 9:26Speaker 1: media have been dismissing the Giants because they're starting Jameis
- 9:29Speaker 1: Winston and Jackson Darts out for the season. But if
- 9:31Speaker 1: you're seeing the turmoil in Philadelphia and you're seeing Jaden
- 9:36Speaker 1: Daniels is still out in Washington, the Cowboys are a
- 9:40Speaker 1: joke right now.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 9:42Speaker 1: All of a sudden, when with John Harbaugh, are you
- 9:44Speaker 1: kind of talking yourself into this giant team might be
- 9:47Speaker 1: able to find a way to sneak their way into
- 9:49Speaker 1: a playoffs? And then we heard from John Harbaugh, like
- 9:52Speaker 1: if they make the playoffs, there's a chance that Jackson
- 9:54Speaker 1: Dart is back by then.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Yes, I think the Giants, I mean, they're three and one.
- 9:59Speaker 3: And yes, the rest of that division is not very good.
- 10:02Speaker 3: We'll see with Philadelphia. I still think ultimately Philadelphia wins
- 10:05Speaker 3: that division, not because they are so great. A combination
- 10:09Speaker 3: of them being good and a combination of the rest
- 10:12Speaker 3: of the division not being great. but I think the
- 10:15Speaker 3: Giants could sneak in as a wild card. I'm not
- 10:17Speaker 3: going to be surprised if they win that division. We
- 10:19Speaker 3: shouldn't be surprised. They're 3-1 right now, and the Cowboys
- 10:21Speaker 3: aren't a good football team.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I would be more surprised right now
- 10:26Speaker 1: if the Cowboys won the NFC East than if the
- 10:28Speaker 1: Giants won the NFC East, because I know Joey Porter Jr.
- 10:32Speaker 1: gets to the stadium last night, and he leaves the
- 10:34Speaker 1: stadium throwing up, I think. They said he was sick.
- 10:37Speaker 1: But it's like, how much does one player really change
- 10:40Speaker 1: things where you're making that big of an excuse for
- 10:43Speaker 1: the defense?
- 10:43Speaker 5: Right.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Mikey, who would you feel most comfortable about, most comfortable
- 10:48Speaker 3: saying is going to win the NFC East?
- 10:50Speaker 4: Which team? At this point, is it Giants? Is it Eagles?
- 10:53Speaker 4: Is it Commanders? Are we leaving out the Commanders? It's
- 10:56Speaker 4: not Dallas. It can't be Dallas after that.
- 10:58Speaker 5: Jaden Daniels does return this week. He's full go. He's
- 11:01Speaker 5: going to play this week.
- 11:02Speaker 4: And they're 1-2?
- 11:02Speaker 7: And they're... I mean, it's still not the Commanders, and
- 11:08Speaker 7: that's kind of disrespectful because the last time they had
- 11:10Speaker 7: a healthy Jaden Daniels, they were in the NFC Championship game.
- 11:13Speaker 4: Yes.
- 11:13Speaker 5: But, I mean, I still think it's the Eagles.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Same.
- 11:17Speaker 5: But I think we're looking at a really bad division. Right.
- 11:22Speaker 4: Well, speaking of bad divisions.
- 11:23Speaker 5: Which is saying something.
- 11:27Speaker 4: The NFC South.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 11:30Speaker 4: Well, the Bucs are back.
- 11:31Speaker 6: We.
- 11:32Speaker 1: We have to talk about the Todd Bowles decision. Todd Bowles.
- 11:40Speaker 1: It is amazing that Todd Bowles has been a head
- 11:42Speaker 1: coach now for almost a decade, and he still has
- 11:46Speaker 1: zero feel over a game where that decision in the
- 11:50Speaker 1: fourth quarter, the fact that the Bucs were able to
- 11:52Speaker 1: overcome it and still win the game, that was the
- 11:55Speaker 1: ultimate bailout where Tampa Bay leads 24-10, 836 remaining. It's
- 12:00Speaker 1: fourth and goal from the Cowboys' one-yard line. A field
- 12:02Speaker 1: goal makes it 27-10, a three possession game.
- 12:06Speaker 5: Bowles goes for it.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Sean Tucker gets stuffed. Dallas drives, of course, 99 yards
- 12:10Speaker 1: for the touchdown. They cut the lead to 24-16. They
- 12:13Speaker 1: eventually get the ball back with that chance to tie.
- 12:17Speaker 1: This for Tampa Bay felt like a win the battle
- 12:19Speaker 1: but lost the war game because he gets fired in
- 12:21Speaker 1: that locker room if the Cowboys come back and win
- 12:23Speaker 1: that game.
- 12:25Speaker 3: He probably does, yes. Would you like to guess Todd Bowles'
- 12:29Speaker 3: career record with the Bucs? How long has he been there?
- 12:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it's got to be as close to 500 as
- 12:37Speaker 1: you can get.
- 12:38Speaker 4: How long has he been there?
- 12:41Speaker 1: I don't want to look it up because then I'm
- 12:42Speaker 1: going to look up the record.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Hold on, I'll tell you.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Let me see if I can find it here.
- 12:50Speaker 4: 2022 is when he started with the Bucs.
- 12:52Speaker 1: And you have just the Bucs record.
- 12:54Speaker 4: Just the Bucs record, yes.
- 12:58Speaker 1: So 2022, that's what, four or five seasons?
- 13:00Speaker 4: Yes.
- 13:01Speaker 1: My guess is he's 34 and 30. Mikey. That sounds
- 13:07Speaker 1: about right.
- 13:07Speaker 4: I so badly want to tell you it's 36 and 36.
- 13:10Speaker 5: It's not.
- 13:10Speaker 4: It's 35 and 37. I did not expect him to
- 13:11Speaker 4: have a losing record. Wow.
- 13:12Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 13:24Speaker 1: He was in such shock when they won that game.
- 13:27Speaker 4: How could you tell? I mean, they cut to him.
- 13:31Speaker 1: On the sideline. I thought he was having a heart
- 13:33Speaker 1: attack on the sideline. He dropped to one knee. Now,
- 13:35Speaker 1: I think a player hit him in the stomach, and
- 13:38Speaker 1: he lost his wind during the celebration, and that's why
- 13:42Speaker 1: he was on a knee. But they just cut to
- 13:44Speaker 1: him on one knee, and Michaels and Kirk Herbstre are like,
- 13:49Speaker 1: Can we cut back to Todd Bowles? Because the last
- 13:51Speaker 1: time we saw him, it looked like he was about
- 13:53Speaker 1: to need a defibrillator on the field.
- 13:55Speaker 4: They were concerned.
- 13:56Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Well, the camera shot was so quick, and it was
- 14:00Speaker 1: just Todd Bowles on one knee looking down like, oh, no,
- 14:03Speaker 1: are we going to have a medical emergency on this situation?
- 14:07Speaker 1: And we never got clarification after that until after the game.
- 14:09Speaker 3: 35-37, Mikey, after going 24-40 with the Jets. You are
- 14:11Speaker 3: what you are. But he's back in that division. Gets
- 14:21Speaker 3: Baker back.
- 14:22Speaker 4: In two weeks. What do you do now? I mean,
- 14:24Speaker 4: Baker comes.
- 14:25Speaker 3: If Daniels continues to play like this and they win
- 14:27Speaker 3: football games, what do you do with the guy they gave.
- 14:30Speaker 4: Three years, $ 165 million to, huh?
- 14:33Speaker 1: You can't ask that to Mikey A because Mikey A,
- 14:35Speaker 1: nobody defends Baker. If Baker Mayfield had no supporters left,
- 14:41Speaker 1: that just means Mikey A was dead.
- 14:44Speaker 7: You guys are missing. You guys, see, you guys are
- 14:47Speaker 7: too focused. You got to brought out. You know what
- 14:49Speaker 7: you just did? You just put a chip right on
- 14:52Speaker 7: Baker's shoulder. That's what you did. You just put a.
- 14:55Speaker 5: Chip right on his shoulder. Oh, I'm sorry.
- 14:57Speaker 7: You think I should back up some undrafted rookie?
- 15:00Speaker 5: Chip on the shoulder. Baker MVP the rest of the way.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Six years, $ 155 million for Jalen Daniels to the Jets
- 15:07Speaker 3: next year. Stugatz here. You guys know me. I'm watching
- 15:13Speaker 3: sports all weekend anyway. And there's nothing better than having
- 15:16Speaker 3: a little something riding on a game you'd otherwise wouldn't
- 15:19Speaker 3: care about. And now FanDuel's available everywhere. Seriously, everywhere. Big
- 15:24Speaker 3: news for the first time. Sports fans across the country,
- 15:27Speaker 3: including California, Georgia, and Texas, can get in on the action.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Because there's more to sports than just the final score.
- 15:34Speaker 3: It's the players you follow, the matchups you circle, the
- 15:37Speaker 3: stats you know inside and out. the storylines you spend

- 15:44Speaker 3: to be part of all of it. Make your picks.

- 16:24Speaker 3: He is the host of OE's College Football. Greg McElroy
- 16:28Speaker 3: is with us. Did I say the last name right?
- 16:29Speaker 3: Did I get it right? Please, it's my nemesis. Greg,
- 16:31Speaker 3: did I get it right?
- 16:33Speaker 8: It's close enough.
- 16:34Speaker 6: The E and the L can occasionally be switched. At
- 16:38Speaker 6: this point, I've been called so many things, I could
- 16:40Speaker 6: care less.
- 16:41Speaker 8: It really doesn't even matter.
- 16:41Speaker 6: My own broadcast partner called me Craig in the open
- 16:44Speaker 6: last week.
- 16:45Speaker 8: So I just don't care. It's all good.
- 16:49Speaker 3: It's just that name has been, that last name has
- 16:52Speaker 3: been my nemesis. For my entire career. 20 years doing
- 16:55Speaker 3: this and I just can't say the last name. It's
- 16:57Speaker 3: tough for me.
- 16:57Speaker 4: I don't know why. Sorry.
- 16:59Speaker 8: It's close enough. Don't worry about it. We're golden.
- 17:01Speaker 4: What were you going to say, Mikey?
- 17:03Speaker 5: I said it's weird. It's weird that you can't say it.
- 17:05Speaker 4: McElroy. McElroy. No.
- 17:08Speaker 5: McElroy. McElroy.
- 17:11Speaker 6: McElroy.
- 17:12Speaker 8: It doesn't matter. Like I said, I don't care.
- 17:13Speaker 4: All right. Craig McElroy.
- 17:15Speaker 8: You know, McElroy, McElroy.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Yes.
- 17:18Speaker 8: McElroy.
- 17:19Speaker 4: Don't worry about it.
- 17:22Speaker 3: I've been laughing all week because The more things change
- 17:25Speaker 3: in college football, the more they stay the same because
- 17:28Speaker 3: we have Alabama, Georgia. If that game does indeed get played, Craig,
- 17:33Speaker 3: we do have Alabama and Georgia. And so the more
- 17:36Speaker 3: things change in college football where Indiana is now winning
- 17:39Speaker 3: national championships, you still at the center of the college
- 17:42Speaker 3: football universe have these two teams undefeated playing maybe the
- 17:46Speaker 3: biggest game of the season.
- 17:49Speaker 6: I think right now, if you look at how they've
- 17:51Speaker 6: played early on, they look like the two best teams
- 17:54Speaker 6: to me. I know that Texas is a worthy number one,
- 17:59Speaker 6: given who they've beaten with Ohio State win on their resumes.
- 18:02Speaker 6: I'm fine with them being ranked number one. But right now,
- 18:05Speaker 6: if I were just going power ratings across the board
- 18:07Speaker 6: and I had to pick teams against the spread and
- 18:09Speaker 6: or pick teams on a neutral field against another team,
- 18:13Speaker 6: I think these would probably be the first two teams
- 18:14Speaker 6: I'd start with just with how they've played. And the
- 18:16Speaker 6: one thing I'd say about Georgia is they haven't really
- 18:20Speaker 6: been tested yet, but they're a pretty safe bet. I
- 18:23Speaker 6: feel like for a long time, we kind of know
- 18:25Speaker 6: what to expect with the dogs. I think their offensive
- 18:28Speaker 6: identity is cut and dry. You know exactly who they
- 18:31Speaker 6: are defensively. They're always going to be super sound. They're
- 18:33Speaker 6: always going to be super physical. So I think when
- 18:36Speaker 6: you look at these two teams, the bigger surprise is
- 18:38Speaker 6: certainly Alabama, which is how much they've progressed to you
- 18:41Speaker 6: over a year. And again, Guys, we've called three of
- 18:43Speaker 6: their games, and I'm just telling you, man, they are
- 18:46Speaker 6: really impressive. When they're clicking, and look, it's a young team,
- 18:51Speaker 6: and they certainly are not flawless, but when they're clicking
- 18:54Speaker 6: and all of a sudden they get dialed in, they're
- 18:56Speaker 6: going to be a hard team to beat going forward
- 18:58Speaker 6: as they continue to mature and get better.
- 19:00Speaker 4: What has surprised you the most about the Alabama football team?
- 19:04Speaker 8: I think just the commitment to running the football.
- 19:06Speaker 6: That was significant. A huge offseason effort. Point of emphasis
- 19:12Speaker 6: last year, they ran for like one hundred and five
- 19:14Speaker 6: yards a game.
- 19:15Speaker 4: Right.
- 19:15Speaker 8: You know, it's I mean, it was in the hundred
- 19:17Speaker 8: and twenties.
- 19:18Speaker 6: They averaged less than three and a half yards a carrier,
- 19:21Speaker 6: three point six yards a carry.
- 19:23Speaker 8: On the season. And that was what the first round
- 19:26Speaker 8: NFL left tackled.
- 19:27Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 19:30Speaker 6: Whether that guy should have been drafted where he got
- 19:32Speaker 6: drafted or not is a different conversation based on production,
- 19:37Speaker 6: but certainly on the hoof, the size, the versatility, there
- 19:40Speaker 6: was talent on that offensive line.
- 19:42Speaker 8: They couldn't move anybody.
- 19:44Speaker 5: I don't know why that was.
- 19:46Speaker 6: All those things taken into account, they went to the portal,
- 19:49Speaker 6: they sent a bunch of guys and, and went and
- 19:51Speaker 6: signed a bunch of guys. And they had a bunch
- 19:54Speaker 6: of young guys that were coming up that they liked,
- 19:55Speaker 6: but they were still pretty young and boom, fast forward
- 19:59Speaker 6: to this year. And I would say that the run
- 20:00Speaker 6: game is, is the identity of, of which they're kind
- 20:04Speaker 6: of hanging their hat on right now. And with the
- 20:07Speaker 6: run game comes the play action game and the quarterback
- 20:09Speaker 6: Keelan Russell's incredible. I mean, he's just so much better
- 20:12Speaker 6: than any one of us could have imagined through five
- 20:14Speaker 6: games of his career. So I think just the way
- 20:17Speaker 6: they've totally revamped their offensive style, they're now going with
- 20:21Speaker 6: a ton of multiple tight end personnels. They're pushing people around.
- 20:24Speaker 6: They're kind of a bully, frankly. I mean, they're a bully.
- 20:27Speaker 6: And last year they were a pass first operation. So
- 20:30Speaker 6: it's just crazy to see how much has changed. And it's,
- 20:34Speaker 6: It's pretty amazing to know it changed with pretty much
- 20:36Speaker 6: all new personnel. Only one starter was returning on offense
- 20:39Speaker 6: from last year. And they're the number one team as
- 20:41Speaker 6: far as offensive efficiency in the country through the first
- 20:44Speaker 6: five weeks. Greg, Ryan Coleman Williams burst onto the scene
- 20:47Speaker 6: two years ago in this game against Georgia. And at
- 20:50Speaker 6: the time, it felt like everybody was mentioning him and
- 20:52Speaker 6: Jeremiah Smith in the same sentence. And ever since that point,
- 20:56Speaker 6: Jeremiah Smith has just kept ascending and ascending. What's a
- 20:59Speaker 6: fair evaluation of Ryan Coleman Williams at this point in
- 21:02Speaker 6: his Alabama career?
- 21:04Speaker 8: Well, he's super dynamic.
- 21:06Speaker 6: I mean, people will look back at last year and
- 21:08Speaker 6: there were some inconsistencies with drops.
- 21:11Speaker 8: There's no doubt about that.
- 21:12Speaker 6: I think he had 10 last year in a 15-game
- 21:14Speaker 6: season or a 14-game season. So it wasn't flawless by
- 21:18Speaker 6: any stretch. It was actually quite unspectacular. But if you
- 21:22Speaker 6: watch him and there's parts of his game that are
- 21:25Speaker 6: going to be lethal as he continues to get bigger
- 21:28Speaker 6: and stronger. And there's no one in college football that
- 21:32Speaker 6: accelerates faster than him. When he's at 100 percent now,
- 21:36Speaker 6: right now, he's not at 100 percent. He's got he's
- 21:38Speaker 6: got a knee brace that he's been wearing on his
- 21:41Speaker 6: right leg.
- 21:41Speaker 8: We don't know what it.
- 21:42Speaker 6: What it is necessarily, but he doesn't look like he's
- 21:45Speaker 6: at 100 percent. The burst is not where it's.
- 21:47Speaker 8: Been in the past.
- 21:48Speaker 6: But when this guy accelerates, he's zero to 60 in
- 21:52Speaker 6: three steps. I think he's probably the fastest and most
- 21:56Speaker 6: explosive receiver in college football.
- 21:58Speaker 8: It's just the drop issues.
- 22:00Speaker 6: Were kind of what over overwhelmed everybody with their evaluation
- 22:04Speaker 6: last year. He's dropped one pass this year and it
- 22:06Speaker 6: was in the first game. So he's gotten a lot better.
- 22:09Speaker 6: He's made some really good catches as well. So I
- 22:12Speaker 6: think here in time, I think he'll probably come back
- 22:15Speaker 6: next year, I would imagine, with Keelan Russell coming back
- 22:17Speaker 6: and everyone else coming back.
- 22:18Speaker 8: I imagine he'd come back.
- 22:20Speaker 6: And then, boom, if he can put together not one
- 22:22Speaker 6: but two consecutive years, which drops are not an issue,
- 22:25Speaker 6: he's going to test out of his mind of the combine.
- 22:27Speaker 6: It's just where will he come off the board? But
- 22:30Speaker 6: I think in time, he's going to make a lot
- 22:31Speaker 6: of money playing the position. It's because there's very few
- 22:33Speaker 6: in the world that can accelerate.
- 22:35Speaker 8: Quite like him.
- 22:36Speaker 3: Greg, weather is going to be a factor. If indeed
- 22:38Speaker 3: this game is played, it will be a factor. If
- 22:40Speaker 3: weather is a factor, if it's bad, if it's raining,
- 22:43Speaker 3: who does that favor?
- 22:45Speaker 6: Well, I've been told that everyone has all these internet...
- 22:49Speaker 6: My wife.
- 22:50Speaker 8: Is asking me.
- 22:51Speaker 4: Everyone's a weather person, yes.
- 22:54Speaker 6: I am not a weather person, but I have absolutely
- 22:59Speaker 6: nothing to show me that the game won't be played.
- 23:02Speaker 5: To me, they.
- 23:03Speaker 8: As long as there's no electricity in the forecast, which
- 23:05Speaker 8: there's not, they're going.
- 23:07Speaker 6: And it'll be windy and miserable and the field will
- 23:09Speaker 6: be soaked, but it'll be an interesting.
- 23:12Speaker 5: Watch for sure.
- 23:15Speaker 6: As far as who it favors, I think it would
- 23:18Speaker 6: definitely be Georgia. It has a slight advantage in those conditions.
- 23:22Speaker 6: They're a ground-and-pound outfit. They want to run the football.
- 23:25Speaker 6: They're a run-first football team. They average well over 200
- 23:28Speaker 6: yards a game on the ground. They average six and
- 23:30Speaker 6: a half yards of carry on the ground. That's one
- 23:33Speaker 6: of the top marks in college football. And their passing
- 23:36Speaker 6: attack with Gunnar Stockton is very, very efficient. And they
- 23:39Speaker 6: have been better this year than they were a year
- 23:43Speaker 6: ago on the downfield throws. But a lot of their
- 23:46Speaker 6: passes are kind of at or around the line of scrimmage.
- 23:48Speaker 6: They utilize a lot of wide receiver screens, a lot
- 23:52Speaker 6: of throws that are no more than five yards downfield.
- 23:56Speaker 6: So the wind won't have as much of an effect
- 23:59Speaker 6: on some of the throws that they make.
- 24:02Speaker 8: Whereas with Alabama, their quarterback is more.
- 24:04Speaker 6: Talented than the two. And the weather won't have a
- 24:08Speaker 6: huge impact because he throws with such velocity.
- 24:10Speaker 8: He throws such a tight spiral.
- 24:12Speaker 6: But the reality is the last two games, they've averaged
- 24:13Speaker 6: more than 13 yards in attempt. Like they want to
- 24:15Speaker 6: push the ball down the field. Like they are a downfield,
- 24:18Speaker 6: heavy play action, deep shot style team. And it doesn't
- 24:22Speaker 6: mean you can't complete deep shots in wind. It just
- 24:25Speaker 6: means that those throws that are on the money, like
- 24:28Speaker 6: they've been in each of the last three weeks, that
- 24:30Speaker 6: are perfectly thrown and are going to be easy walk-in touchdowns,
- 24:33Speaker 6: those throws now might force the receivers to adjust slightly
- 24:38Speaker 6: and to maybe make a contested catch when, if it
- 24:41Speaker 6: were perfect conditions, it'd be an obvious touchdown.
- 24:43Speaker 8: So it's definitely advanced.
- 24:45Speaker 6: Georgia, I think, but I don't think it's so significant
- 24:48Speaker 6: to the point where the passing attack is going to
- 24:51Speaker 6: be completely useless for the Tide. Their quarterback's good enough
- 24:54Speaker 6: to be able to negotiate it.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Greg, Oregon's quarterback Dante Moore was ruled out for the
- 24:58Speaker 1: UCLA game. Dylan Rayola is going to start. We saw
- 25:01Speaker 1: Dylan Rayola come on in relief against USC. A similar
- 25:04Speaker 1: situation last year, Austin Simmons at Ole Miss gets hurt
- 25:08Speaker 1: and Trinidad Chambliss steps up. Is there a world where
- 25:11Speaker 1: Oregon doesn't go back to Dante Moore this season and
- 25:14Speaker 1: Dylan Rayola takes over as QB1 for the rest of
- 25:17Speaker 1: the year?
- 25:18Speaker 4: That sounds crazy.
- 25:20Speaker 8: I don't think so. Uh, I mean, I've watched Rayola
- 25:22Speaker 8: now for three years.
- 25:23Speaker 6: Uh, I've watched Dante Moore for two Dante Moore's the
- 25:26Speaker 6: better player.
- 25:27Speaker 8: Uh, I mean, it's just, yeah, he is.
- 25:30Speaker 6: And it doesn't mean that it's not really a knock
- 25:32Speaker 6: on Rayola. We're talking about like one of the top
- 25:33Speaker 6: guys in America.
- 25:34Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 25:35Speaker 8: Like he's the real deal.
- 25:37Speaker 6: So I, I think it's still Dante Moore show when
- 25:39Speaker 6: he can and hopefully he will get healthy here very soon. Um,
- 25:44Speaker 6: there's some challenges right now in evaluating Oregon and, and
- 25:47Speaker 6: most of it kind of relies around the offensive line
- 25:50Speaker 6: and they've been a bit inconsistent. We haven't seen the
- 25:53Speaker 6: same level of home run hitting in the run game
- 25:55Speaker 6: that we've seen in the past. They've had a couple
- 25:57Speaker 6: of guys that have been in and out of the lineup,
- 25:58Speaker 6: but I think they're getting healthier now. So I'm cautiously
- 26:01Speaker 6: optimistic that their best football's in front of them, but
- 26:04Speaker 6: Dante Moore is still one of the best guys in
- 26:06Speaker 6: America when he's going. So, uh, Rayola played great against SC.
- 26:10Speaker 6: SC is a, is a bottom-tier power-four passing defense. So
- 26:17Speaker 6: you've got to take it with a slight grain of salt.
- 26:19Speaker 6: Whereas with Dante Moore, he has seen the likes of
- 26:22Speaker 6: some of the best teams in the sport. He's played
- 26:24Speaker 6: against the Indianas. He's played against some others. And I
- 26:27Speaker 6: think he'll be perfectly equipped to handle the offense the
- 26:32Speaker 6: way they need him to handle it if and when
- 26:33Speaker 6: he can get back on the field. So, no, I
- 26:35Speaker 6: don't think this is a Wally-Pipps situation at all. The
- 26:40Speaker 6: ironic thing about it is... If you look at who
- 26:44Speaker 6: Austin Simmons has now become for Missouri, it's like they
- 26:48Speaker 6: really couldn't go wrong in the decision. I mean, Austin
- 26:50Speaker 6: Simmons is a baller. It's just Trinidad was the hot hand.
- 26:54Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying? I don't think that's the
- 26:56Speaker 6: same case for Raiola and Dante Moore. I think there's
- 26:59Speaker 6: a significant gap between the two. But it doesn't mean
- 27:03Speaker 6: that Raiola can't come in and play well in spot
- 27:06Speaker 6: duty and be a great player next year for him.
- 27:09Speaker 7: Greg, Michigan tight end Zach Marshall had kind of put
- 27:13Speaker 7: his foot in his mouth when some text messages in
- 27:16Speaker 7: a group chat was criticizing one of his coaches. Greg McIlroy,
- 27:21Speaker 7: the player, how do you deal with something like that
- 27:23Speaker 7: in the locker room? Is that something that you have to,
- 27:25Speaker 7: as a leader, step in and say something to him,
- 27:27Speaker 7: or is that something where you're.
- 27:29Speaker 3: Like, yeah I agree I'm more interested in what the
- 27:32Speaker 3: worst thing Greg has said behind Nick Saban's back I
- 27:34Speaker 3: mean no I mean I.
- 27:36Speaker 6: Would like to know what the worst thing is Nick
- 27:39Speaker 6: Saban said behind my back that's.
- 27:40Speaker 8: What I want to know honestly.
- 27:42Speaker 7: I feel like I feel like Saban said it to
- 27:43Speaker 7: your face I feel like he's one of those guys yeah.
- 27:46Speaker 6: Probably I bet that was a far more scathing remark
- 27:50Speaker 6: no you know this is one of those situations and
- 27:53Speaker 6: like it gets made in the locker room there of
- 27:56Speaker 6: course is like a kangaroo court from time to time
- 27:58Speaker 6: yeah like dude, what happens in the locker room stays
- 28:01Speaker 6: in the locker room.
- 28:02Speaker 8: Like if you have issues, you take it up with us, you.
- 28:05Speaker 6: Have challenges, or if you have groans about what the
- 28:08Speaker 6: offense is doing or whatnot, like let's, let's talk about
- 28:11Speaker 6: it in here. Don't voice it to the world, right?
- 28:14Speaker 6: Don't voice it to the world because that's not going
- 28:15Speaker 6: to help us. And now it's become a story when
- 28:19Speaker 6: a reality like, yeah, if you watch Michigan's offense in
- 28:23Speaker 6: the first handful of weeks, uh, Are some of the
- 28:26Speaker 6: things he said justified?
- 28:27Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 28:28Speaker 8: I'm not in the room.
- 28:29Speaker 6: But I saw Utah's offense under Coach Beck, and I
- 28:34Speaker 6: saw the motions and the variations and the amount of
- 28:36Speaker 6: challenging ways that they forced a defense to be wrong.
- 28:41Speaker 6: I'm not seeing as much of that right now. I
- 28:43Speaker 6: don't know why that is necessarily. Is it a comfort level?
- 28:46Speaker 6: Is it you're one in the system? Is it a
- 28:48Speaker 6: trust with the quarterback? I don't know really what that
- 28:51Speaker 6: answer is. but I do think there's more layers to
- 28:54Speaker 6: this playbook than what we've seen so far. And I
- 28:56Speaker 6: think probably they're sitting there thinking like, we're going to
- 28:58Speaker 6: win on defense. Let's just not make mistakes offensively. And
- 29:01Speaker 6: let's not try to do too much offensively because our
- 29:03Speaker 6: defense will be able to pitch shutouts and we'll be
- 29:05Speaker 6: in good shape. And now I think they're starting to
- 29:07Speaker 6: realize like, all right, we might need to do a
- 29:09Speaker 6: little more on offense. We might need to roll the
- 29:10Speaker 6: dice a little more on offense. If we're going to
- 29:12Speaker 6: beat some of the teams in the big 10 that
- 29:14Speaker 6: we want to beat. So yeah, it was an unfortunate
- 29:17Speaker 6: thing that those things get out, but they do. And yeah,
- 29:20Speaker 6: The reality is, I mean, after you lose, everyone's ticked off.
- 29:24Speaker 6: I'm pissed after I lose. And I don't expect cooler
- 29:28Speaker 6: heads to prevail. I'd want personally to see guys take
- 29:31Speaker 6: individual ownership and not deflect blame.
- 29:34Speaker 8: But at the.
- 29:35Speaker 6: End of the day, like I'm sure there's a million
- 29:38Speaker 6: people that are ticked off with how Michigan's played offensively
- 29:40Speaker 6: the last four weeks, no more than the offensive coordinator
- 29:43Speaker 6: Beck himself. So I, those are things that I'd love
- 29:46Speaker 6: to keep internally. And yeah, I'm sure there'll be some
- 29:48Speaker 6: repercussions in the locker room from that, but Nothing that
- 29:51Speaker 6: can't be overcome with a win this upcoming week and
- 29:54Speaker 6: some good performances in the future.
- 29:55Speaker 3: Right, it cures everything. But he did commit a cardinal
- 29:58Speaker 3: sin of a group text. If you have to announce
- 29:59Speaker 3: to everyone in the group, hey, this stays in the
- 30:02Speaker 3: group text, you're in a group text with the wrong people.
- 30:04Speaker 4: Is that fair? I mean.
- 30:07Speaker 5: I suppose. I don't know.
- 30:08Speaker 6: I do have group texts that are going bananas right now.
- 30:11Speaker 6: They're like, you're with Stugatz?
- 30:12Speaker 8: Tell them I'd say what's up.
- 30:14Speaker 6: You know? So, yeah, it's... The group texts are interesting.
- 30:19Speaker 6: The funny thing is, back in our day... Like, I
- 30:22Speaker 6: guess we, we just grew up in a different era.
- 30:24Speaker 6: Like we never voiced, like you kept your mouth shut.
- 30:27Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 30:28Speaker 6: Like we were the age old, like if you've got
- 30:31Speaker 6: a problem, like you zip, like you, you will, you will,
- 30:34Speaker 6: your feelings mean nothing.
- 30:35Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 30:36Speaker 8: Like that was our generation player. Like the modern player,
- 30:39Speaker 8: there is some entitlement. There is some, like, there is
- 30:42Speaker 8: a willingness to like be a little more outspoken, a
- 30:44Speaker 8: little more personality.
- 30:45Speaker 6: Whereas we were like robots. Like you don't say a word,
- 30:48Speaker 6: like unless you're perfect, you say nothing. And none of
- 30:50Speaker 6: us were ever perfect.
- 30:51Speaker 5: So we never said anything. It was just a different era,
- 30:54Speaker 5: wasn't it?
- 30:55Speaker 4: Yes, totally different.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Greg, if you were an athletic director and say at
- 31:10Speaker 1: your school all things were equal in terms of NIL
- 31:13Speaker 1: or like geographical location, and your two options were hiring
- 31:18Speaker 1: Bob Chesney, the UCLA coach, or John Summerall, the Florida coach,
- 31:22Speaker 1: who would you pick?
- 31:24Speaker 6: I think, honestly, as funny as it might sound, I
- 31:26Speaker 6: think it's absolutely location dependent. I think at UCLA, Summerall
- 31:33Speaker 6: would not be as effective because as Bob Chesney is interesting.
- 31:37Speaker 6: And Bob Chesney would not be as effective at Florida
- 31:40Speaker 6: as what I think John Summerall is going to be.
- 31:42Speaker 8: Does that make sense? It's, it's very much a fit.
- 31:45Speaker 6: And, and I think some of those places, some of
- 31:49Speaker 6: those places demand their coach to operate a certain way.
- 31:53Speaker 6: And I think in the Southeastern comments, for example, coaching
- 31:57Speaker 6: a player that is from the South, like I'm from Texas.
- 32:00Speaker 6: So like I grew up with hard coaching, like, you know, like,
- 32:04Speaker 6: Every throw I made that wasn't complete was the worst.
- 32:07Speaker 6: And when I was in peewee football, just like when
- 32:10Speaker 6: we watched Friday Night Lights and John Boyd is like
- 32:14Speaker 6: hitting the helmet with the whistle like that was me.
- 32:17Speaker 6: You know, like I was Johnny Moxon. You know, that
- 32:20Speaker 6: was my lifestyle. So like I expected hard coaching. I'm
- 32:25Speaker 6: from the South. That's the way it was. Hard coaching
- 32:27Speaker 6: is not going to be received as well at other
- 32:30Speaker 6: places as it would be at some at some other places. Chesty,
- 32:34Speaker 6: I think coach is hard for sure.
- 32:35Speaker 8: I don't know. I don't know him that well. But
- 32:37Speaker 8: I think Summerall is.
- 32:38Speaker 6: Like the ideal fit for what Florida needs, like an energetic,
- 32:43Speaker 6: a little bit unapologetic.
- 32:45Speaker 8: Think about Spurrier. Spurrier was like unapologetically himself and like
- 32:49Speaker 8: he didn't care. That's Summerall. It's perfect. Whereas with Chesney,
- 32:54Speaker 8: I think he's very buttoned up, you know, very presidential.
- 32:58Speaker 6: And I think he has done a tremendous job at UCLA.
- 33:01Speaker 8: So I think it just depends on, on where, where
- 33:04Speaker 8: I would be the athletic director at.
- 33:07Speaker 6: And I think John Summerall in LA would have been
- 33:10Speaker 6: an unusual fit. Whereas I think Chesney's perfect and Chesney
- 33:15Speaker 6: in Gainesville, Florida would be on the usual fit, but
- 33:17Speaker 6: I think Summerall's perfect.
- 33:18Speaker 8: Does that make sense?
- 33:19Speaker 1: Yes.
- 33:20Speaker 3: Makes perfect sense. We're going to get you out of
- 33:22Speaker 3: here in just a second. We have a game for you.
- 33:24Speaker 3: But before I get to that, Alabama, Georgia, who wins
- 33:27Speaker 3: the game this weekend?
- 33:28Speaker 8: I think Bama wins. I think Bama's the best team
- 33:31Speaker 8: I've seen this year, guys.
- 33:32Speaker 3: Wow.
- 33:32Speaker 8: I really believe it. I think they are. Wait till
- 33:35Speaker 8: y'all see this. Have y'all watched this quarterback?
- 33:37Speaker 4: Yes.
- 33:37Speaker 8: Keelan Russell's tight. I mean, he's ridiculous.
- 33:40Speaker 4: Yes.
- 33:40Speaker 6: Some of the things he does, it's like they had
- 33:43Speaker 6: a play last week against Mississippi State where he literally
- 33:46Speaker 6: faked the wrong direction.
- 33:48Speaker 8: The entire team was totally screwed up. It was a disaster.
- 33:51Speaker 6: Like 85% of quarterbacks in that situation, take a sack
- 33:56Speaker 6: and or a fumble and or turn it over. The
- 34:00Speaker 6: other 14% throw it away. He fit it between two
- 34:03Speaker 6: defenders for like a 17 yard game. It was like,
- 34:06Speaker 6: I mean, it's like, this guy's insane. I mean, so
- 34:08Speaker 6: I think Bama just has a higher ceiling with what
- 34:11Speaker 6: they bring to the quarterback spot.
- 34:12Speaker 8: And I think they're a little more dynamic wide receiver.
- 34:14Speaker 6: And I actually think Bama's defense is, is fully equipped
- 34:17Speaker 6: to stop the run, which is what George is going
- 34:19Speaker 6: to try to do.
- 34:20Speaker 8: Bama's defense is a lot better against the run than
- 34:21Speaker 8: I think people realize.
- 34:23Speaker 3: You just came back from a quick golf trip. I've
- 34:26Speaker 3: been on several golf trips. We both love golf. I
- 34:28Speaker 3: am wondering how you feel about tricked-out golf courts.
- 34:33Speaker 8: Yeah, totally out on that.
- 34:34Speaker 6: I'm a traditionalist when it comes to golf. It's like
- 34:38Speaker 6: the one place on earth where I can like find
- 34:41Speaker 6: solace and quiet.
- 34:42Speaker 8: And like, I have three kids under seven, dude.
- 34:45Speaker 6: Like when I'm on the golf course, I don't want
- 34:47Speaker 6: to even think about anything other than just being present
- 34:50Speaker 6: in the moment and like quietly whispering as we're meandering.
- 34:54Speaker 5: Through the fairways. Right.
- 34:55Speaker 8: So like, no, I'm totally anti-tricked out golf cart.
- 34:57Speaker 4: All right.
- 34:57Speaker 8: But I want one.
- 34:58Speaker 4: I still want one.
- 34:59Speaker 5: Of course you do.
- 35:00Speaker 4: And the kids will love it. I promise you. The
- 35:02Speaker 4: kids would love it. I'm never going to use it.
- 35:04Speaker 8: I just want to look at it just because it
- 35:05Speaker 8: makes me feel manly.
- 35:06Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 35:07Speaker 6: It makes you feel like I got that there and
- 35:09Speaker 6: out in their garage.
- 35:11Speaker 4: The resume doesn't make you feel manly enough. I mean,
- 35:14Speaker 4: come on.
- 35:15Speaker 2: No, I am.
- 35:17Speaker 8: I'm number six in my family's power rankings right now.
- 35:20Speaker 6: Behind three kids, my.
- 35:24Speaker 8: Wife, my dog, and then me.
- 35:26Speaker 6: So I'm running number six right now in the McElroy household.
- 35:30Speaker 4: McElroy. All right, let's get to our game here. It's
- 35:32Speaker 4: called One Table. I'll explain it in a second.
- 35:37Speaker 2: There's one table left at the hottest spot in town,
- 35:40Speaker 2: and everybody wants it. Who's getting it, and who's getting
- 35:45Speaker 2: left outside? Greatness gets seated. Everyone else waits. This is
- 35:52Speaker 2: One Table.
- 35:54Speaker 4: All right, it's McElroy Steakhouse, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. You're the owner.
- 35:59Speaker 3: Two people walk in. You have one table, and there's
- 36:01Speaker 3: only one seat at that table. We're going to ask
- 36:04Speaker 3: you some scenarios here. You tell us who gets that table. Taylor,
- 36:06Speaker 3: go ahead.
- 36:07Speaker 1: So, Greg, Bryce Young walks in. Joe Namath walks in.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Who gets the table?
- 36:13Speaker 4: Wow.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Namath.
- 36:16Speaker 8: I mean, come on. Like, I mean, I love Bryce
- 36:19Speaker 8: to death. I love Bryce. And, gosh, he's playing great.
- 36:21Speaker 8: I'm so proud of him. But, like, it's Joe Willie Namath.
- 36:25Speaker 5: Right.
- 36:26Speaker 6: Taking a backseat to Joe Willie is, like, there's no
- 36:29Speaker 6: shame in that.
- 36:30Speaker 4: All right. Is there any quarterbacks?
- 36:31Speaker 8: Have you ever heard Joe Namath tell a story?
- 36:34Speaker 6: No.
- 36:35Speaker 4: No.
- 36:36Speaker 5: Oh, my God. They are amazing.
- 36:39Speaker 4: Really?
- 36:40Speaker 6: I mean, just if you got 20 minutes sitting with
- 36:43Speaker 6: Joe talking about some of– his antics at their bar
- 36:48Speaker 6: in New York, like he's getting that seat.
- 36:51Speaker 8: He can actually have two extra seats if he needs it.
- 36:53Speaker 8: We'll kick people out. I want it to be very,
- 36:55Speaker 8: very quiet. I want to be able to listen intently
- 36:57Speaker 8: to what he's saying.
- 36:58Speaker 4: All right. You're cleaning house for Namath. I love that.
- 37:00Speaker 4: Tua walks in. AJ McCarron walks in. Who gets the table?
- 37:06Speaker 6: I would go Tua. Not really because of anything in
- 37:10Speaker 6: one direction or the other. Like, I just never see Tua,
- 37:13Speaker 6: so I'd like to catch up with him.
- 37:14Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 37:15Speaker 6: Like, I very seldom see Tua. The last time I
- 37:18Speaker 6: saw him, we had played some golf, and he needs
- 37:20Speaker 6: some work in his golf game. But, yeah, I see
- 37:24Speaker 6: AJ quite a bit. So, like, randomly seeing him, like,
- 37:26Speaker 6: it wouldn't be catching up for me. Whereas with Tua,
- 37:29Speaker 6: I never see him, so I'd love to catch up.
- 37:31Speaker 3: All right.
- 37:32Speaker 4: I like that answer.
- 37:32Speaker 5: Go ahead, Taylor.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Sean Alexander walks in. Derek Henry walks in. Who gets
- 37:39Speaker 1: the table?
- 37:39Speaker 3: Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh.
- 37:41Speaker 8: Oh, that's a good question.
- 37:43Speaker 4: He's thinking about this one. Yeah.
- 37:46Speaker 8: This is the hardest one so far.
- 37:48Speaker 6: Cause Sean's like the world's greatest guy, like the greatest,
- 37:52Speaker 6: but it's gotta be Derek Henry, right? Like he's first
- 37:55Speaker 6: ballot hall of famer. I mean, you could make the
- 37:57Speaker 6: case that he is the best running back of his generation.
- 38:01Speaker 6: If not in the mix, like certainly at or near
- 38:03Speaker 6: the top of the list. And, you know, he would
- 38:05Speaker 6: get just a slight, a slight heads up plus Heisman,
- 38:08Speaker 6: you know, Heisman that, that gives you a little bit.
- 38:10Speaker 8: Of a bonus.
- 38:12Speaker 3: Board op Ricardo is up here. He went to the
- 38:14Speaker 3: University of Alabama. He's a Marlins fan who turned into
- 38:17Speaker 3: a Yankee fan in the postseason. We call him Ricky Mantle.
- 38:21Speaker 8: He's going for the Brewers now. Like, where's he? Where's
- 38:26Speaker 8: he at now?
- 38:27Speaker 4: Yeah, the Dodgers are next. Are you a Dodger fan?
- 38:30Speaker 8: I'm a Dodger fan.
- 38:31Speaker 3: You want to laugh at these two guys? Taylor and
- 38:33Speaker 3: Mikey are Yankee fans. They have been unhinged and depressed
- 38:36Speaker 3: the entire day.
- 38:38Speaker 4: I can't wrangle them in. I'm trying to do shows
- 38:41Speaker 4: and laugh and they don't want to laugh.
- 38:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:44Speaker 8: It's a 24 hour rule, dude.
- 38:45Speaker 6: Like you got to know that you're expecting all my
- 38:48Speaker 6: friends that are Braves fans, all those quote unquote diehard
- 38:51Speaker 6: Braves fans that, you know, watch three games a year.
- 38:55Speaker 8: And two of those three are in the postseason.
- 38:58Speaker 6: It's amazing how they come out of the woodwork and
- 39:00Speaker 6: now they're all of a sudden depressed as if they
- 39:01Speaker 6: didn't know what the.
- 39:02Speaker 8: Result was going to be when they had to take
- 39:05Speaker 8: on the kings of the sport right now.
- 39:07Speaker 6: And yes, as a guy that was born and raised
- 39:09Speaker 6: in in Los Angeles, California, but spent his adolescent years
- 39:11Speaker 6: in Texas where I've refused to acknowledge the Rangers as
- 39:14Speaker 6: the hometown team.
- 39:15Speaker 8: I am a Dodger. I am a Dodger fan.
- 39:18Speaker 5: Alabama football, Dodgers baseball. You excited for Duke basketball?
- 39:22Speaker 4: He played for the Jets.
- 39:23Speaker 8: First of all, I'm a Jets fan.
- 39:26Speaker 5: All right.
- 39:27Speaker 6: So I'm like, I am, I have, taken enough heat
- 39:31Speaker 6: in my life as a Jets fan to be able
- 39:35Speaker 6: to pick and choose the other sporting teams I want
- 39:37Speaker 6: to support.
- 39:39Speaker 4: I second that.
- 39:40Speaker 8: I am not Duke basketball.
- 39:42Speaker 6: I am a Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Stars, Los Angeles Dodgers,
- 39:47Speaker 6: New York Jets, Alabama Crimson Tide, And that's pretty much it. And,
- 39:52Speaker 6: you know, I don't really have any other teams that
- 39:56Speaker 6: I care very passionately.
- 39:57Speaker 4: About, to be honest with you. You're fine. You have
- 40:00Speaker 4: earned the right. Yes, you have earned the right. Playing
- 40:02Speaker 4: for the Jets and being a Jet fan, you've earned
- 40:04Speaker 4: the right to root.
- 40:04Speaker 5: For whoever you are.
- 40:05Speaker 8: Yes, I can pick a couple winners.
- 40:07Speaker 5: Let me be a frontrunner in a couple places, okay?
- 40:09Speaker 4: I'm paying my penance.
- 40:09Speaker 3: All right, let's go back to Ricky Mantle, who again graduated.
- 40:14Speaker 3: From the University of Alabama.
- 40:15Speaker 4: Went to Alabama. Dropped out. He dropped out of Alabama.
- 40:20Speaker 4: Even better. And now he's a board op in radio.
- 40:24Speaker 4: Go ahead, Ricky Mantle. Take it away.
- 40:26Speaker 1: All right, so Julio Jones walks in and Mark Ingram
- 40:30Speaker 1: walks in.
- 40:30Speaker 4: Who's getting the table? Wow.
- 40:33Speaker 8: That's a great question.
- 40:36Speaker 6: First of all, you're the only person I ever know
- 40:37Speaker 6: to drop out of Alabama.
- 40:41Speaker 5: It happens.
- 40:41Speaker 8: Usually when you get there, it's like, all right, this
- 40:43Speaker 8: is pretty good setup.
- 40:44Speaker 6: Like I think I'll stick around and I don't think
- 40:47Speaker 6: you got weeded out by grades.
- 40:48Speaker 8: That's hard.
- 40:50Speaker 6: But looking at, looking at that one, I think I'd
- 40:55Speaker 6: have to go with Julio. Not because I don't love Mark.
- 41:00Speaker 6: Mark's like one of my very, very favorite people on
- 41:02Speaker 6: planet earth. But like, Kind of what we said a
- 41:04Speaker 6: little while ago. Like, I see Mark. He's in the profession. So,
- 41:08Speaker 6: I'm around him a lot. Plus, he thinks he's got
- 41:11Speaker 6: a great golf game. I don't want to hear about
- 41:13Speaker 6: his most recent round at Seminole.
- 41:15Speaker 8: I don't care. Like, I don't want to hear about it. Like,
- 41:17Speaker 8: I played the Muni down the street.
- 41:18Speaker 6: Like, I don't want to hear about you rubbing elbows,
- 41:23Speaker 6: you know, at Calusa Pines.
- 41:25Speaker 8: Like, I'm over that.
- 41:26Speaker 6: Like, he plays some high– he plays golf in the
- 41:29Speaker 6: high-rent district, whereas we just– I'm just trying to find
- 41:32Speaker 6: a game somewhere.
- 41:33Speaker 8: So I'd go Julio. Also, I haven't seen him in
- 41:35Speaker 8: like 10 years.
- 41:36Speaker 3: All right.
- 41:36Speaker 8: So I'd probably go with Jones in that case.
- 41:38Speaker 4: Me and you, Seminole one day? What do you think?
- 41:39Speaker 4: I mean, I'll get us on there. I got it.
- 41:41Speaker 4: I got it.
- 41:43Speaker 6: Don't offer that up publicly and not be able to
- 41:45Speaker 6: pay that off. Because, yes, I would be very... Like
- 41:47Speaker 6: I've said to friends in the past, that is not
- 41:49Speaker 6: an invitation I would ignore. So if you would like
- 41:51Speaker 6: to make that happen, I'd like to join you.
- 41:53Speaker 5: Don't worry, he'll ignore it for you.
- 41:55Speaker 4: No, no, no.
- 41:56Speaker 3: Listen, has Jimmy Dunn been a guest on this radio
- 41:58Speaker 3: show or not? He told us great stories that day.
- 42:01Speaker 3: All right, Bordoff Ricardo, who dropped out of Alabama, has
- 42:04Speaker 3: one more, and then we'll get you out of here.
- 42:05Speaker 4: All right, last one.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Les Miles or Urban Meyer walk into the restaurant in T-Town?
- 42:10Speaker 4: Who are you going with? Neither.
- 42:14Speaker 1: Oh, goodness.
- 42:16Speaker 5: Well.
- 42:17Speaker 8: As a starter, I was undefeated against Urban. I went
- 42:22Speaker 8: 1-1 against Les.
- 42:24Speaker 5: Right.
- 42:24Speaker 6: So I'll take Urban because I want to remind him
- 42:26Speaker 6: about those two outcomes in 9 and 10. So I'll
- 42:30Speaker 6: take Urban because Les did get us in 2010, and
- 42:33Speaker 6: that one's a tough one for me to stomach.
- 42:36Speaker 4: All right, Taylor, we good?
- 42:36Speaker 1: You have one more?
- 42:37Speaker 4: I have one more. If you guys are done, I
- 42:39Speaker 4: just have one more. I have one more. Okay, we
- 42:40Speaker 4: all wait.
- 42:40Speaker 5: Sorry.
- 42:41Speaker 4: I know, but he's busy. He's got to go. It's
- 42:42Speaker 4: a busy time of year. He's so busy.
- 42:44Speaker 8: I'm hanging out.
- 42:46Speaker 6: I'm just preparing for football today, so I'm just relaxing.
- 42:50Speaker 5: Whatever y'all got.
- 42:51Speaker 4: I love you, man.
- 42:52Speaker 2: All right.
- 42:52Speaker 3: I would not have put that invitation out there unless
- 42:55Speaker 3: I knew I could get it done.
- 42:56Speaker 4: Anyway, go ahead, Mikey.
- 42:58Speaker 5: I believe you can get it done.
- 43:00Speaker 4: I just don't believe you will.
- 43:02Speaker 5: Joe Namath walks in. He's back. He enjoyed it the
- 43:05Speaker 5: first time, so he comes back. But at the same time,
- 43:07Speaker 5: Nick Saban walks in.
- 43:08Speaker 4: Perfect. That was mine. Yes.
- 43:13Speaker 6: For all the same reasons, it's Joe Willie, man. And
- 43:16Speaker 6: it's not that about coach. It's not even about him.
- 43:19Speaker 6: It's just Joe Willie is kind of in.
- 43:20Speaker 8: An era of his own.
- 43:21Speaker 6: For me, the end-all, be-all of Alabama football players is
- 43:27Speaker 6: forever always and forever will be kenny stabler and joe
- 43:29Speaker 6: navel like that's those are the two those are my
- 43:31Speaker 6: guys all right and snake rest in peace like you
- 43:34Speaker 6: want to talk about a good time oh my god
- 43:37Speaker 6: sit around the table and you're gonna need uh you're
- 43:42Speaker 6: gonna need to make sure that that everybody all the
- 43:44Speaker 6: the waitress and everybody is totally buttoned up because we're
- 43:46Speaker 6: gonna the drinks are gonna be coming and they're gonna
- 43:48Speaker 6: be going fast right so we're gonna need snake to
- 43:50Speaker 6: get to get dialed in he's gonna tell some great
- 43:52Speaker 6: stories he had unbelievable stories too like Those two guys
- 43:56Speaker 6: at a dinner table, the best experience you'll have in
- 43:59Speaker 6: your entire life. So rest in peace, Snake, because he
- 44:01Speaker 6: was the best. But in that scenario, it's still Joe
- 44:04Speaker 6: Willie all day.
- 44:05Speaker 4: All right, Greg, we appreciate it. I should have said Craig.
- 44:08Speaker 4: I messed up there.
- 44:09Speaker 3: But anyway, we always college football with Greg McElroy. We
- 44:13Speaker 3: appreciate it, man. Hopefully we'll get Seminole done. I would
- 44:16Speaker 3: not offer that invitation unless I knew I could play
- 44:18Speaker 3: there with you. So hopefully we'll get it done.
- 44:20Speaker 8: I love where we're heading then. We're trending and I
- 44:22Speaker 8: won't say a word about it. Don't worry. No pictures,
- 44:23Speaker 8: no nothing.
- 44:24Speaker 6: I'm going to live presently in the moment with no
