- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I, Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Welcome back to Almost Famous. Ben and Ashley with you today.
- 0:09Speaker 2: We're catching up with someone who's had a few moments
- 0:12Speaker 2: in Bachelor Nation, but has really made a splash over
- 0:15Speaker 2: on Bravo since she transferred over.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Ashley, you can relate with that.
- 0:19Speaker 4: You sure can.
- 0:20Speaker 5: I can't wait to ask her the differences, even though
- 0:22Speaker 5: she wasn't nearly as entrenched as I was on Bachelor Nation.
- 0:26Speaker 5: You guys know Sally Carson, mostly from Southern Charm, but
- 0:31Speaker 5: she was on Clayton's season for the first episode. She
- 0:35Speaker 5: didn't even make it to the limo night. She kind
- 0:37Speaker 5: of ran away. I totally had forgotten about that. It's
- 0:40Speaker 5: almost like cold feet for Bachelor, but she was also
- 0:44Speaker 5: supposed to get married right before The Bachelor.
- 0:45Speaker 4: We'll talk to her about that. How she likes being
- 0:47Speaker 4: over at Bravo.
- 0:49Speaker 5: And the fact that she has a new podcast with
- 0:51Speaker 5: Lala Kent called Sex Unlocked.
- 0:54Speaker 3: I didn't know sex was locked.
- 1:00Speaker 4: All right. Sally is on the line.
- 1:02Speaker 5: Hey, Sally, I am dying to ask you about the
- 1:06Speaker 5: transition from Bachelor Nation to Bravo. I said that your
- 1:10Speaker 5: experience over at the Bachelor side was not nearly as
- 1:14Speaker 5: extensive as mine. But what do you see the differences
- 1:18Speaker 5: and difference in fandom production?
- 1:20Speaker 1: Production for sure. Yeah. I had a terrible time.
- 1:26Speaker 4: You had a terrible time on Bachelor.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:28Speaker 4: I am always praising Bachelor production.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Really?
- 1:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:34Speaker 3: What made it a terrible time?
- 1:35Speaker 1: I mean, my terrible time was like, they just wouldn't
- 1:38Speaker 1: let me... do anything. Like I was like, I want
- 1:41Speaker 1: to leave. And they were like, you can't, you have
- 1:43Speaker 1: to break up with your boyfriend first. I was like,
- 1:44Speaker 1: I don't even know who the bachelor is right now.
- 1:47Speaker 4: Tell us a little bit about that.
- 1:48Speaker 5: So you guys signed up for Clayton season, not knowing
- 1:51Speaker 5: who the bachelor was going to be.
- 1:53Speaker 4: And you were in that hotel, not knowing who?
- 1:55Speaker 1: Yeah, we didn't know. And then we find out like
- 1:58Speaker 1: last minute and I was like, fine with it. Like I,
- 2:00Speaker 1: I think highly of Clayton, but I mean, I just,
- 2:04Speaker 1: we didn't know until we got there. And then they
- 2:06Speaker 1: were like, you have to break up with your boyfriend.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I was like, my boyfriend?
- 2:09Speaker 5: Why were you like with a boyfriend and in a
- 2:12Speaker 5: hotel waiting to meet The Bachelor?
- 2:14Speaker 1: No, like they were calling Clayton my boyfriend.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Oh, you have to go, even though you had never
- 2:19Speaker 4: met him.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Even though I had never met him. They were like,
- 2:22Speaker 1: if you want to leave, you have to go say
- 2:23Speaker 1: bye to Clayton. They just wanted it for camera.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Okay.
- 2:27Speaker 5: Even though you had, I get that, but you also
- 2:30Speaker 5: were there and you had recently broken off an engagement
- 2:34Speaker 5: and the day that the bachelor was supposed to start
- 2:37Speaker 5: filming was the day that you were supposed to get married.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Yes.
- 2:42Speaker 4: So that was emotional.
- 2:43Speaker 1: That was very emotional for me. So like, I kept
- 2:46Speaker 1: thinking about, okay, right now I'm supposed to be walking
- 2:48Speaker 1: down the aisle, but I'm like sitting in a hotel
- 2:50Speaker 1: room waiting to meet another guy that potentially could be
- 2:54Speaker 1: my fiance. I was like, what the fuck am I
- 2:56Speaker 1: doing here?
- 2:57Speaker 4: Wait, I guess like, why were you there?
- 2:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:00Speaker 4: What the fuck were you doing there?
- 3:01Speaker 1: It was like a you moment. Honestly, like it was like,
- 3:04Speaker 1: this guy just cheated on me so bad. 20 days
- 3:07Speaker 1: before my wedding. Like I have this opportunity, Kim, I'm
- 3:11Speaker 1: going to go do this to him. He just did
- 3:13Speaker 1: this to me. And it just was not the right
- 3:14Speaker 1: head space to be in.
- 3:16Speaker 5: How in the world did you get on the show
- 3:18Speaker 5: within 20 days of somebody cheating on you?
- 3:20Speaker 1: I honestly have no idea. They called me and they
- 3:24Speaker 1: were like, we heard your story. We want you. They
- 3:26Speaker 1: rushed the process and then flew me there. It was
- 3:30Speaker 1: like super quick and intense.
- 3:33Speaker 5: So why did you have a problem going up to
- 3:35Speaker 5: Clayton and just being like, hey, I was signed up
- 3:37Speaker 5: for this.
- 3:38Speaker 4: I signed up for this.
- 3:39Speaker 5: It seemed too good to be true, given my awful scenario.
- 3:42Speaker 5: But I don't think I'm ready. Like, why did you
- 3:44Speaker 5: feel like that was pressure that you just didn't like?
- 3:48Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, when I first, like, my
- 3:50Speaker 1: plan was to get there and, like, go tell him, like, hey,
- 3:53Speaker 1: I made a mistake. I shouldn't have come. Like, and
- 3:56Speaker 1: then I met him. And then I actually genuinely got
- 3:58Speaker 1: confused because he was so nice. Like, we talked. You
- 4:00Speaker 1: only see, like, a clip from our hotel conversation. But
- 4:04Speaker 1: we talked for, like, two hours. And we were, like, vibing.
- 4:08Speaker 1: And then I was like, dang, this guy's really nice. Like,
- 4:12Speaker 1: and I'm dealing with an asshole at home.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Should I stay?
- 4:15Speaker 1: Okay.
- 4:15Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I just was like in my head. And then I
- 4:17Speaker 1: was like, no, I got to go.
- 4:19Speaker 4: I feel like you should have stayed.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I can't imagine what it would have been like to
- 4:25Speaker 2: be the bachelor. You're so nervous. And before it even starts,
- 4:30Speaker 2: somebody's like, yeah, I'm out.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Found out it was you.
- 4:34Speaker 2: That would be so brutal because you're already in your
- 4:40Speaker 2: own head. Like, Hey, nobody's going to want to stay
- 4:41Speaker 2: for this. Nobody wants to actually like, Once they hear
- 4:45Speaker 2: it's me or whatever, and then your worst nightmare comes true.
- 4:49Speaker 2: And this girl shows up and she's like, yeah, by
- 4:51Speaker 2: the way.
- 4:53Speaker 1: I gotta go.
- 4:54Speaker 3: I gotta go. Uh, nothing against you. Just not that
- 4:57Speaker 3: into it. Uh, it's not you. It's somebody else.
- 5:01Speaker 4: Sally, you have a tendency of doing this with bachelor.
- 5:04Speaker 5: So then fast forward, how many months, I guess, nine
- 5:09Speaker 5: months I was on this season of paradise that you
- 5:12Speaker 5: were supposed to be on. I arrived and then they
- 5:15Speaker 5: were like, Oh my gosh, there was so much drama.
- 5:17Speaker 5: Cause I was there with Jared, like do like a
- 5:19Speaker 5: second honeymoon type situation. <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> Yeah,
- 5:35Speaker 5: I'm a.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Pain in everyone's ass, I feel. I just really am
- 5:38Speaker 1: a chaotic person. But I was excited to go to Paradise.
- 5:43Speaker 3: And then?
- 5:43Speaker 1: I got there and it was just like, we had like...
- 5:49Speaker 1: So I think I had a very... not good producer
- 5:53Speaker 1: that was doing me. Like I, I met some great
- 5:56Speaker 1: production people at the bachelor that I loved and mine,
- 6:00Speaker 1: I think ended up getting fired cause she was just like,
- 6:02Speaker 1: not like there was a lot of negative things about her. And, um,
- 6:07Speaker 1: she lied to me and all this stuff. She took
- 6:09Speaker 1: my bag at the airport. She checked it under her name.
- 6:13Speaker 1: She knew what she was doing. So my bag actually
- 6:15Speaker 1: did go, but it wasn't the bag that they were
- 6:17Speaker 1: going through on the show. But so then when I
- 6:20Speaker 1: got there, I was like, my bag's been here, which
- 6:23Speaker 1: wasn't a lie. So then it made it look like
- 6:25Speaker 1: it was my bag even more. But I mean, I
- 6:28Speaker 1: wanted to stay. Even after I blew up on the beach,
- 6:31Speaker 1: I wanted to stay. And they told me I had
- 6:33Speaker 1: to leave. So I think that they wanted me to
- 6:36Speaker 1: just come down, blow up, and leave.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Initially, they probably didn't.
- 6:40Speaker 5: But once you were being chaotic, they were like, well,
- 6:43Speaker 5: let's just lean into the chaos.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Because I wanted to stay for Justin. Like, I liked Justin.
- 6:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:48Speaker 4: Is there a chance that you could rekindle with Justin
- 6:51Speaker 4: in real life? You guys are both.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I mean, we've definitely ran into each other recently, but no,
- 7:00Speaker 1: there's not going to be a future for us. We
- 7:03Speaker 1: ran into each other in the Hamptons.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Was sex unlocked? I don't know.
- 7:13Speaker 4: Maybe.
- 7:14Speaker 2: I have a lot of questions, Sally, that I need
- 7:17Speaker 2: to figure out because we are here to talk about, obviously.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Like you and getting to know you better.
- 7:23Speaker 2: But you do have a podcast with Lala Kent called
- 7:27Speaker 2: Sex Unlocked. That was why I referenced it. We're going
- 7:30Speaker 2: to get to that. I do have a lot of
- 7:33Speaker 2: questions there about the title, the content. maybe even more
- 7:37Speaker 2: about you and Justin, uh, that I didn't really plan
- 7:40Speaker 2: on talking about, but, uh, Sally, I do want to
- 7:44Speaker 2: help make sense of the transition over to Bravo. So
- 7:47Speaker 2: we've talked about your time on bachelor nation. You were
- 7:50Speaker 2: like a ghost. You, your name was thrown around. People
- 7:53Speaker 2: were making narratives about you like, Hey, you're going to
- 7:55Speaker 2: show up. You weren't going to show up, et cetera.
- 7:57Speaker 2: But then now you're, you have shown up to Southern charm.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Like you, you are a part of Southern charm. Uh,
- 8:05Speaker 2: This is a friend group I think you've had for
- 8:06Speaker 2: a while, right? Like, this show is comfortable to you.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Yes, very comfortable to me. I only knew a couple
- 8:12Speaker 1: of the cast members before actually getting on the show.
- 8:16Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's what you and I relate to, too.
- 8:18Speaker 5: Because we both went into groups that we didn't really
- 8:22Speaker 5: have a.
- 8:22Speaker 4: Lot of people that we knew.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Yes. I mean, how was your experience?
- 8:27Speaker 4: I mean, a crazy time. Crazy, crazy time.
- 8:31Speaker 1: It's fun. But yeah, I mean, Madison LaCroix on my show,
- 8:39Speaker 1: we knew each other through mutual friends. And I just
- 8:42Speaker 1: remember getting a DM from her like three years ago.
- 8:44Speaker 1: And it was like, don't kill me. I was like,
- 8:46Speaker 1: what did you do? And she was like, I pitched
- 8:48Speaker 1: you for my friend for Second Charm.
- 8:50Speaker 5: Oh, perfect.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Because she knew that I was like done with reality TV.
- 8:53Speaker 1: And then she did that. And I was like, whatever,
- 8:56Speaker 1: I'm just going to interview. And then I got it.
- 8:57Speaker 1: So that's how I got into it.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Were you hesitant?
- 9:02Speaker 2: I mean, obviously with The Bachelor background, you probably had
- 9:06Speaker 2: some preconceived ideas of what this show was going to be.
- 9:09Speaker 3: Yeah. You know the.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Fan backlash at large extents and small extents for not,
- 9:18Speaker 2: you know, for just within The Bachelor world. And so
- 9:21Speaker 2: I'm assuming when you sign up for Southern Charm, there
- 9:24Speaker 2: was a little bit of hesitancy to say, hey, I'm
- 9:26Speaker 2: going to.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Go do this.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, not much because honestly, I was like, look,
- 9:32Speaker 1: I get to live my own life. I get to
- 9:34Speaker 1: be in my own home. I get to have my phone.
- 9:36Speaker 1: I get to have my friends, my family. I'm not
- 9:39Speaker 1: like losing contact with any of my real life.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:43Speaker 4: So I think that's what sold.
- 9:44Speaker 1: It for me because The Bachelor just like had so
- 9:47Speaker 1: much anxiety because I couldn't talk to anyone in my
- 9:49Speaker 1: real circle.
- 9:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:52Speaker 3: And it happens fast. I will say that.
- 9:54Speaker 2: And that is, I think, something we can share with
- 9:56Speaker 2: The Bachelor That does happen fast. You literally fly into
- 10:00Speaker 2: the airport and as soon as you walk through, like,
- 10:04Speaker 2: to baggage claim, everything's gone from your life within seconds.
- 10:08Speaker 3: And it's kind of shocking.
- 10:09Speaker 2: I think, when you don't expect it or you don't
- 10:12Speaker 2: realize how little you're going to have contact with the
- 10:15Speaker 2: outside world.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 10:18Speaker 2: But Southern charm you're saying is different. Like you can
- 10:20Speaker 2: live your life and it's just functioning as normal ish
- 10:24Speaker 2: with cameras.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Normal ish. Yeah. I mean, like I have a problem where,
- 10:28Speaker 1: I mean, I forget cameras are there, which is an
- 10:30Speaker 1: issue for me because I'm just, I truly feel like
- 10:33Speaker 1: I am living my authentic self in life on camera,
- 10:37Speaker 1: which is chaotic.
- 10:38Speaker 4: This is so funny to me because I feel the opposite.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Really?
- 10:43Speaker 5: I felt 100% myself on Bachelor in front of those
- 10:48Speaker 5: Bachelor cameras.
- 10:49Speaker 4: And I also didn't give a crap that they were there.
- 10:52Speaker 5: And then on Housewives, I'm so, I'm just, I feel them.
- 11:01Speaker 4: And I feel more.
- 11:02Speaker 1: You feel the cameras.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:04Speaker 5: But it also might be my place in life because now, like,
- 11:07Speaker 5: they have me, like, married with kids.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:10Speaker 4: Versus, like, that, I was just caring about me.
- 11:12Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 11:13Speaker 4: And now I have a family to protect. Yeah.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Oh, well, that's true. See, I don't have that. Yeah.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I mean, I have my parents and my sisters, which
- 11:22Speaker 1: they're not... totally happy with me having like a sex
- 11:26Speaker 1: podcast and crazy on TV, but.
- 11:29Speaker 4: It is what it is. Do you talk about sex
- 11:32Speaker 4: a lot?
- 11:32Speaker 1: No, not on the show really, but I mean, everyone
- 11:35Speaker 1: just calls me thirsty and then I'm like male centered
- 11:38Speaker 1: and stuff, but I'm working on it.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Can we dig into this?
- 11:52Speaker 2: This is our podcast and Maybe one day we can
- 11:54Speaker 2: go on Sex Unlocked and you can ask us questions.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Be super uncomfortable.
- 11:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Your family, I mean, you've mentioned how hard it was
- 12:04Speaker 2: for you to leave your family to be on The Bachelor.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Yes. To be away from them. Go on Southern Charm.
- 12:12Speaker 3: I'll be honest.
- 12:12Speaker 2: I don't know the storylines of Southern Charm. But you're
- 12:15Speaker 2: saying that people call you thirsty or male sinners is
- 12:18Speaker 2: what you're saying people might say about you. but you
- 12:22Speaker 2: also then follow up with saying you're working on it.
- 12:24Speaker 2: I would like to know what you mean by you're
- 12:26Speaker 2: working on it. Why is this something that you feel
- 12:30Speaker 2: is a problem?
- 12:32Speaker 1: Okay, so I actually think reality TV is good in
- 12:35Speaker 1: a sense of watching it back and realizing some stuff
- 12:38Speaker 1: about yourself that you maybe didn't see clearly until you
- 12:42Speaker 1: took a step back and you're actually watching yourself and
- 12:44Speaker 1: your actions on television. And people were calling me... you know,
- 12:49Speaker 1: male centered or like that I had to get validation
- 12:52Speaker 1: in myself and self like through attention from men. And honestly,
- 12:58Speaker 1: like now looking at it, I do see that and
- 13:00Speaker 1: I feel that. And I'm like, I do feel best
- 13:03Speaker 1: when I'm getting attention from a guy. And I don't
- 13:07Speaker 1: like that. You know, I want to feel my best
- 13:09Speaker 1: when I'm with my family and my friends and like
- 13:11Speaker 1: not getting male attention. And so I have recently and
- 13:15Speaker 1: I put myself into therapy actually halfway through the season.
- 13:18Speaker 1: which people will get to.
- 13:20Speaker 4: See, hopefully.
- 13:22Speaker 1: And so, I mean, I'm just trying to work on
- 13:25Speaker 1: my self-respect and how I view myself without a man
- 13:30Speaker 1: in the picture, if that makes sense.
- 13:33Speaker 4: Is there a man in the picture right now?
- 13:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:36Speaker 4: That's all we need to know.
- 13:38Speaker 5: Okay.
- 13:38Speaker 4: The pause and the look is all we need to know.
- 13:41Speaker 1: There's always a man in the picture, and that's what
- 13:43Speaker 1: I'm trying to work on. Like even if like I
- 13:46Speaker 1: have a man and then the man gets out of
- 13:48Speaker 1: my life, there's always someone on the back burner that
- 13:50Speaker 1: I'm thinking about that I can reach out to. And
- 13:51Speaker 1: it's like, I just need to be alone with myself.
- 13:57Speaker 2: The interesting thing with what you're talking about, and I
- 14:01Speaker 2: think this will transition us into Sex Unlocked and why
- 14:03Speaker 2: you feel like this was a show you should host is,
- 14:07Speaker 2: you know, obviously you're working on yourself, but what happens, Sally,
- 14:12Speaker 2: if a man comes into your life, That is a
- 14:15Speaker 2: good man. You know, like one that you're like, hey,
- 14:18Speaker 2: I don't want to mess this up or I don't
- 14:21Speaker 2: want to, I want to feel great about myself while
- 14:24Speaker 2: at the same time dating somebody who is a good
- 14:27Speaker 2: man that maybe there is a future with. How do
- 14:30Speaker 2: you balance that?
- 14:31Speaker 1: I'm trying to right now. And it's just not, like
- 14:35Speaker 1: I am someone that will sabotage a good thing pretty
- 14:39Speaker 1: immediately just because it's happened to me so much in
- 14:42Speaker 1: the past that I'm already fearful that like, this good
- 14:45Speaker 1: guy is not going to stick around for me because
- 14:48Speaker 1: I've had good guys leave me. And I've had good
- 14:51Speaker 1: guys cheat on, or I guess they weren't good guys
- 14:53Speaker 1: because they cheated on me. But like, I thought that
- 14:55Speaker 1: they were good guys. And so I find myself sabotaging
- 14:59Speaker 1: relationships that could potentially lead to like, might be my
- 15:03Speaker 1: husband because I'm scared that they're going to let go first.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Or I'm going to get hurt first.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Have you been following the Taylor Frankie Paul drama with Bachelor? Um, yes.
- 15:14Speaker 4: I only ask because she has man issues too.
- 15:17Speaker 1: No, I seriously was watching this the other day with
- 15:20Speaker 1: my roommate and I was like, oh my God, I'm
- 15:23Speaker 1: like viewing it. I'm like, oh my God, she needs therapy.
- 15:25Speaker 1: And I'm looking at her like, and I'm relating to
- 15:28Speaker 1: her so much. And I hate that. Like she will be,
- 15:33Speaker 1: you know, I'm in love with this guy. I'm in
- 15:35Speaker 1: love with this guy. I'm in love with this guy.
- 15:36Speaker 1: And I'm like, ah, am I watching myself on TV
- 15:39Speaker 1: right now? And then it's making me you know, freak.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Out a little bit, but what advice would you have?
- 15:44Speaker 2: I mean, I think that's one of the things that
- 15:46Speaker 2: so many fans have had a hard time with because
- 15:49Speaker 2: they knew a lot of this about Taylor, Frankie, Paul,
- 15:51Speaker 2: this wasn't a shock to them that, you know, this
- 15:54Speaker 2: was kind of, it went into the bachelor world. But
- 15:59Speaker 2: now as we sit with the things that have happened
- 16:01Speaker 2: and the show not airing, I think a lot of
- 16:04Speaker 2: fans are just saying, we want Taylor, Frankie, Paul to,
- 16:08Speaker 2: get better, whatever that means. And so if you're sitting
- 16:11Speaker 2: there saying, Hey, you're doing the work, you can relate
- 16:14Speaker 2: with her. What advice would you have for her at
- 16:16Speaker 2: this season of life?
- 16:18Speaker 1: I mean, I honestly am still working on it. So like,
- 16:22Speaker 1: but I mean, I don't know if she's in therapy
- 16:24Speaker 1: or not, but it really is helping. I feel like
- 16:27Speaker 1: it's helping, but I also think that you need to
- 16:29Speaker 1: put in the work and I haven't, like, I'm still
- 16:33Speaker 1: doing things that I shouldn't be doing. And I know
- 16:37Speaker 1: that and I'm aware and I feel like she's the same.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Like I do have someone similar in my life, like
- 16:41Speaker 1: a Dakota to her. I have someone similar, an ex
- 16:46Speaker 1: that is very toxic and abusive. And like, and I
- 16:50Speaker 1: find myself wanting to reach out when something fails with
- 16:53Speaker 1: another guy, I want to text him or I want
- 16:56Speaker 1: to reach out to him. And it's just a cycle
- 17:00Speaker 1: that people don't talk about enough because it really is.
- 17:02Speaker 1: And I'm, I'm, I talk about it in therapy every day.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Like she is, Like, if I could watch your brain chemicals,
- 17:08Speaker 1: she was like, you are addicted to this. Like, it
- 17:12Speaker 1: is hard to get out of, just like it is
- 17:14Speaker 1: hard for someone to.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Get out of doing drugs.
- 17:18Speaker 4: Well, that's really interesting.
- 17:20Speaker 5: My sister had a similar history with men. Um, she
- 17:24Speaker 5: just was like, kind of like addicted to the attention
- 17:26Speaker 5: from guys. And she always had to have like a
- 17:28Speaker 5: roster where it was like, she was seeing one, but
- 17:30Speaker 5: then like, she'd have to have backups so that if
- 17:33Speaker 5: it didn't work out with that one, that she had
- 17:35Speaker 5: like somebody in the lineup and that like, she was
- 17:37Speaker 5: still kind of like keeping them on a string. Yeah.
- 17:40Speaker 5: And it was because a lot of it has to
- 17:42Speaker 5: do with like, she has like an ADD wired brain and,
- 17:45Speaker 5: where like you just tend to need an addiction and
- 17:51Speaker 5: then she like moved on to like men being her drug.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Yeah I mean and that's just it's I mean it's
- 17:59Speaker 1: sad when I look at it I'm like why am
- 18:01Speaker 1: I even doing this like and I'll tell my therapy
- 18:04Speaker 1: I'm like my ex-boyfriend like my ex that's the toxic
- 18:08Speaker 1: one like he will move on or like he'll have
- 18:10Speaker 1: a girl and then that's what brings me back in
- 18:13Speaker 1: and I'm like And then I'll blow his phone up.
- 18:16Speaker 1: And I'm like reading and I'm honest with my therapist.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I'm like, look at my phone. Why did I act
- 18:20Speaker 1: like that?
- 18:21Speaker 2: I will say, I think I've done a lot of
- 18:24Speaker 2: therapy in my life. The awareness of it is the start.
- 18:28Speaker 2: And so I think you should celebrate the fact that
- 18:29Speaker 2: you're even aware of it at this point that, hey,
- 18:31Speaker 2: like I'm doing things that probably. aren't going to benefit
- 18:36Speaker 2: me long-term or aren't healthy or behaviors.
- 18:38Speaker 3: I need to stop.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Like once you start becoming aware, then you can start
- 18:41Speaker 2: working on it. It's when you're denying it or you're
- 18:45Speaker 2: not seeing it, that that's when things can get really bad.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:50Speaker 3: I want to take this conversation into sex unlocked.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Obviously the title of it is, is wild.
- 18:56Speaker 3: I don't know what it means.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Um, I joked with Ashley before you got on. I said,
- 19:00Speaker 2: I didn't know sex was locked. Um, But Lala Kent
- 19:05Speaker 2: is your co-host. She is a big part of our
- 19:09Speaker 2: family here at iHeart and our network. Tell us about
- 19:14Speaker 2: the title. Tell us about the podcast. And then let's
- 19:16Speaker 2: dig in a little bit to all the other details
- 19:20Speaker 2: around it.
- 19:21Speaker 1: You know, I think that the title is Sex Unlocked
- 19:26Speaker 1: because I do feel like a lot of people are
- 19:29Speaker 1: shy speaking on sex or They don't talk about it
- 19:33Speaker 1: a lot or they just like don't want to, which
- 19:37Speaker 1: I can understand not wanting to talk about sex. Like
- 19:39Speaker 1: it is a very personal thing. But I also feel like,
- 19:43Speaker 1: you know, there's not many outlets that you can go
- 19:45Speaker 1: to to hear other women and their experiences. And like,
- 19:51Speaker 1: I feel a lot of women can benefit from like
- 19:54Speaker 1: me and Lala's experiences or like stories that we have
- 19:56Speaker 1: to tell. And some of them are kind of crazy
- 19:59Speaker 1: and raunchy. And then some of them are like helpful,
- 20:01Speaker 1: you know? So, I mean, it's just a fun girly
- 20:05Speaker 1: pop podcast that like you can listen to and, Like
- 20:09Speaker 1: a lot of people are in my DMs like we
- 20:10Speaker 1: have to go on an hour walk to listen to
- 20:12Speaker 1: this because I have to be away from my family.
- 20:14Speaker 1: But people are loving it.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Speaking of family, how are your parents dealing with this?
- 20:31Speaker 1: They don't listen. My dad, I mean, my dad is,
- 20:35Speaker 1: my dad's like, where can I find this? And I'm like, dad, no, no,
- 20:39Speaker 1: I'm not even telling you. My mom's like, why are
- 20:43Speaker 1: you doing this? Don't you like, she's worried about my
- 20:45Speaker 1: future kids and my, like my future husband and stuff.
- 20:50Speaker 1: And I'm like, I don't, I don't even have a boyfriend, mom.
- 20:53Speaker 1: I think that's, you know, I'm not worried. I'm not
- 20:56Speaker 1: worried about that. And I'm also not saying anything on
- 20:59Speaker 1: there that I regret, you know, like I'm in control
- 21:04Speaker 1: of my words and I'm just like, I like to
- 21:07Speaker 1: be a very open person. But there is probably some
- 21:11Speaker 1: things that, I mean, like I've had a couple of
- 21:14Speaker 1: guys be like, Sally, I can't talk to you anymore because,
- 21:19Speaker 1: and I have nicknames for them, but like one of
- 21:22Speaker 1: them I brought up and he was like, I can't
- 21:26Speaker 1: do this if our stuff is like public like that.
- 21:28Speaker 4: So it's kind of like Carrie Bradshaw.
- 21:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:31Speaker 4: So what are you going to do about dating and
- 21:33Speaker 4: having this podcast?
- 21:35Speaker 1: Well, I mean, the guy that I'm like talking to
- 21:37Speaker 1: right now loves it. Like there's some people that don't care.
- 21:39Speaker 1: They're like, you're being yourself. Like it's fine. So I
- 21:42Speaker 1: think it just comes down to like finding the right guy.
- 21:45Speaker 1: That's okay with all of my extracurricular activities.
- 21:49Speaker 2: The, uh, there's some, uh, Ashley knows this and the
- 21:53Speaker 2: fans are almost famous. No, this, I originally went to
- 21:55Speaker 2: college become, um, like a sex therapist or teaching about
- 22:00Speaker 2: sex in churches.
- 22:02Speaker 3: That was kind of my idea is.
- 22:03Speaker 2: I want to talk with people within the like kind
- 22:06Speaker 2: of church base about sex in a way that wasn't,
- 22:09Speaker 2: cause I was kind of grew up in that, like
- 22:11Speaker 2: in the era of the purity rings and purity culture.
- 22:14Speaker 2: And I was like, Hey, I don't think this is
- 22:16Speaker 2: actually approaching the things that will be helpful for healthy
- 22:21Speaker 2: sex life. Whenever, you know, that happens, um, So I was,
- 22:25Speaker 2: you know, this isn't a topic I shy away from,
- 22:28Speaker 2: but I do think there are parts of sex that
- 22:32Speaker 2: would be very, that could be very weird to talk about.
- 22:36Speaker 2: I mean, our producer and this is crazy. You have
- 22:38Speaker 2: to have that on the podcast.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 1: You do need to get on.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, goodness, I'm married for many years now.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:47Speaker 4: But like to do your teaching.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:50Speaker 2: We're just like pumping out kids. So goodness, she, We're
- 22:54Speaker 2: into each other. It's pretty great.
- 22:56Speaker 3: But you had some things that you talked about.
- 22:58Speaker 2: I mean, our producer just sent us a message that
- 22:59Speaker 2: on the last show you talked about what the kids
- 23:02Speaker 2: these days are calling it fisting.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Is that true?
- 23:06Speaker 1: My eyes. I think Lala brought that up on the podcast,
- 23:10Speaker 1: but I have never had anyone try to do that
- 23:14Speaker 1: to me. I don't even know my friends. I'm like,
- 23:18Speaker 1: don't bring your fist anywhere near me. Or like, what?
- 23:21Speaker 1: I don't know what that is.
- 23:23Speaker 2: This is, this is where I'm going with this. So like,
- 23:25Speaker 2: these are, that's when we're talking, when you say some
- 23:28Speaker 2: things are raunchy, like that will make everybody that's.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Listening going, what, huh?
- 23:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:33Speaker 3: So you're going everywhere. Like, Oh yeah.
- 23:36Speaker 2: You're talking about everything. This is not, this is not
- 23:40Speaker 2: one that your dad should ever listen to. In fact,
- 23:43Speaker 2: I wish he never knew it was even existing. I
- 23:45Speaker 2: have a daughter and I'd be like, this would be
- 23:48Speaker 2: the hardest listen of my life.
- 23:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:50Speaker 3: I would, I would never, I could never.
- 23:53Speaker 1: And it's not like I'm in there being like, yeah, like,
- 23:55Speaker 1: you know, I mean, we're talking about it like real.
- 24:00Speaker 4: Life.
- 24:00Speaker 1: And I'm like, Lala, that's crazy to me. That's like
- 24:04Speaker 1: a baby's head. And Lala thinks it's crazy too. So
- 24:08Speaker 1: we do talk about, and then there's stuff that we
- 24:09Speaker 1: talk about that we like, you know? And then there's
- 24:12Speaker 1: just crazy stuff that, you know, I have friends and
- 24:15Speaker 1: they'll come home and tell me a story and then
- 24:17Speaker 1: we'll talk about that. So it like leads us down
- 24:19Speaker 1: so many paths.
- 24:21Speaker 5: Yeah, my.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Like, what I see as healthy and right is not
- 24:25Speaker 2: important here. But I think I'm always a proponent. So,
- 24:30Speaker 2: you know, obviously we could discuss what is, like, healthy, right,
- 24:33Speaker 2: what's good and bad, what hurts and helps. We could
- 24:35Speaker 2: do all that all day and, like, I'm not convincing
- 24:38Speaker 2: you of anything and you're not convincing me.
- 24:39Speaker 3: We're just going to, like, go back and forth.
- 24:41Speaker 2: But what I see in this and where I think
- 24:44Speaker 2: this could go where, like, your mom, if she does listen,
- 24:47Speaker 2: could like get behind it is you are providing a
- 24:50Speaker 2: space to have conversations that people are having privately or
- 24:55Speaker 2: even within themselves, uh, to help people feel less alone.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Is that what you hope to do through this?
- 25:02Speaker 4: I mean, yeah.
- 25:02Speaker 1: I mean, in some episodes for sure. Cause I mean,
- 25:06Speaker 1: there's people, I mean, and I'm not married, so I
- 25:09Speaker 1: can't relate, but, um, you know, there's people in my
- 25:12Speaker 1: life right now that are struggling in their sex lives because, and, and,
- 25:15Speaker 1: you know, there's some people that haven't had sex after
- 25:19Speaker 1: a year of having a child and they find their
- 25:22Speaker 1: husband watching porn or something like that. And they feel
- 25:25Speaker 1: like it's them. And, you know, and like, I don't know.
- 25:30Speaker 1: I want it to be a safe place also for
- 25:32Speaker 1: people to come to like that and, and like hear
- 25:35Speaker 1: ways of like, I'm sure Lala has advice. She has
- 25:37Speaker 1: two kids, but, um, Just things like that, too. I
- 25:41Speaker 1: think it could be helpful for women. And we get
- 25:43Speaker 1: a lot of DMs asking us questions, too, and we
- 25:45Speaker 1: love to answer those.
- 25:48Speaker 4: How did you guys get paired together? Obviously, the Bravo connection,
- 25:52Speaker 4: but besides that.
- 25:52Speaker 1: They asked me. I think Lala picked me, and she
- 25:56Speaker 1: asked if I would be interested, and I said yes.
- 25:59Speaker 1: But she knew that I was kind of, I mean, everyone,
- 26:01Speaker 1: if you watch Southern Charm, you just know that I'm
- 26:03Speaker 1: just very open. I just say whatever comes to my mind.
- 26:08Speaker 4: Can we talk about Clayton for a second? So yeah.
- 26:12Speaker 4: Tell us what comes to your mind when you see
- 26:14Speaker 4: his cameos.
- 26:15Speaker 1: His dances.
- 26:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Honestly, they're so entertaining to me. My friend group, my
- 26:20Speaker 1: college friend group, my girls will send it in like
- 26:24Speaker 1: our Instagram DMs every day.
- 26:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Check out this dance.
- 26:29Speaker 5: I think this guy is going to make, he said
- 26:31Speaker 5: he made a hundred thousand last year on it.
- 26:33Speaker 4: I think he's going to make, I mean, at least
- 26:35Speaker 4: 300,000 this year on it. It's insane. It's really entertaining
- 26:41Speaker 4: and absolutely bizarre, but go for it.
- 26:44Speaker 1: It's so entertaining. It is so entertaining. I'm like, what
- 26:47Speaker 1: are you doing?
- 26:49Speaker 4: He's got to be on next season of Dancing with
- 26:51Speaker 4: the Stars. We're really missing out. Oh my God, could
- 26:53Speaker 4: you imagine? Yeah.
- 26:55Speaker 1: I'm so sad that Whitney's husband went home last night.
- 26:58Speaker 4: Oh he did yeah that is so sad i.
- 27:01Speaker 5: Know i love him he's so cute he's such a
- 27:04Speaker 5: nice guy someone.
- 27:05Speaker 1: That's open because like he had a porn addiction and
- 27:08Speaker 1: i loved that they were open about it and it
- 27:10Speaker 1: was like a really tough time for their marriage and
- 27:12Speaker 1: now like they've just i think it helped a lot
- 27:15Speaker 1: of people everyone.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Loves them sally this is um This is obviously a
- 27:21Speaker 2: big deal. The Sex Unlocked is within our podcast network here.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Yes.
- 27:27Speaker 2: So you're joining the family, whatever– the family that is
- 27:33Speaker 2: spread out across the country and gets together every once
- 27:37Speaker 2: in a while. But you are under the same podcast
- 27:39Speaker 2: network as us now. If you look five years into
- 27:43Speaker 2: the future or maybe just your next steps, Sally, what
- 27:48Speaker 2: do you hope happens with the podcast, but also with
- 27:51Speaker 2: yourself personally?
- 27:53Speaker 1: Honestly, like I hope, I mean, I just want it
- 27:56Speaker 1: to follow our lives and also continue to give advice
- 28:00Speaker 1: to people. Cause you know, once I get into a relationship,
- 28:03Speaker 1: which I have been seeing this guy, it's not just about,
- 28:06Speaker 1: you know, me going out, sleeping with new guys, experiencing things.
- 28:11Speaker 1: It's also about like, you know, keeping your sex life
- 28:14Speaker 1: alive when you're in a relationship and when you're not,
- 28:16Speaker 1: you know, I don't know. I think that hopefully in
- 28:20Speaker 1: the next five years I'm married and then it can
- 28:23Speaker 1: go down that path. But, you know, who knows? I
- 28:27Speaker 1: thought I'd be married now with three kids.
- 28:29Speaker 4: Could you be married to Clayton? Like, could you date
- 28:33Speaker 4: him now?
- 28:33Speaker 1: No.
- 28:34Speaker 5: No.
- 28:37Speaker 4: And why is that? You said that he charmed you
- 28:41Speaker 4: that first night. He did.
- 28:43Speaker 1: But now I just, no, I can't. I cringe too
- 28:45Speaker 1: much when I watch his videos, which I feel bad about,
- 28:47Speaker 1: but like they're entertaining. I'm loving them, but I'm cringing
- 28:50Speaker 1: at the same time.
- 28:51Speaker 4: Did you follow his story, the paternity drama? No.
- 28:55Speaker 5: Oh, you didn't follow the crazy journey about like him
- 28:58Speaker 5: being accused of getting a girl pregnant without having sex?
- 29:01Speaker 1: Actually, I do think I followed, like I didn't follow
- 29:03Speaker 1: it intensely, but I feel like I know about it.
- 29:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:06Speaker 4: That's crazy. It's a big deal right now. We have
- 29:07Speaker 4: another podcast.
- 29:08Speaker 1: People are insane.
- 29:09Speaker 4: There's a hit podcast out there. People are insane.
- 29:12Speaker 1: People are insane.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Sally?
- 29:14Speaker 1: No, I would never rekindle things with him, I don't think.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I think the only guy from Bachelor Nation that I
- 29:21Speaker 1: would even be interested in is Justin.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Can we go back to that for a second?
- 29:25Speaker 4: Yeah. It sounds like there's hope there.
- 29:28Speaker 1: I mean, no, no, no.
- 29:31Speaker 4: I don't know. Did you guys ever kiss? Yeah. Oh, okay. Yeah,
- 29:36Speaker 4: we like.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Hung out for a while. Oh, okay. After Bachelor in Paradise.
- 29:42Speaker 4: And then... He met Susie?
- 29:44Speaker 1: We were talking every day. And then he started talking
- 29:47Speaker 1: to Susie. And I started talking to my best guy
- 29:49Speaker 1: friend in Charleston. And so we stopped talking. And we dated.
- 29:52Speaker 1: We dated. He dated Susie. I dated Andrew. And then
- 29:56Speaker 1: those ended. And then we got, we rekindled a little bit.
- 30:00Speaker 4: Well, let's get Justin on Southern Charm now. Just do
- 30:03Speaker 4: a whole bunch of crossovers.
- 30:04Speaker 1: No, I was telling him that.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Sally, this is, obviously life is busy for you right
- 30:10Speaker 2: now with Southern Charm, the dating world, and now this
- 30:14Speaker 2: new podcast, Sex Unlocked with Lala Kent.
- 30:17Speaker 3: We appreciate you coming on.
- 30:18Speaker 2: And I will say, out of everything, your openness and
- 30:24Speaker 2: honesty is appreciated. And people can learn a lot from that.
- 30:30Speaker 2: But we also here at the Almost Famous Podcast are
- 30:35Speaker 2: excited to see you continue to teach, learn, and grow.
- 30:40Speaker 2: I don't want anybody in this world, especially somebody as
- 30:45Speaker 2: cool as you, to ever feel like you need validation
- 30:49Speaker 2: from anybody else. And I can't wait for the day
- 30:54Speaker 2: that it hits. Like, hey, I just got to be
- 30:57Speaker 2: in the moment, be where my feet are, and grow within.
- 31:01Speaker 1: We're going to get there.
- 31:03Speaker 3: We're going to get there. I have full confidence in it.
- 31:05Speaker 3: It might just be like you saying it. Like, just
- 31:08Speaker 3: do it. Just do it. You're doing great. Hey, you
- 31:11Speaker 3: can go out and listen to Sex Unlocked right now.
- 31:13Speaker 3: I just pulled it up.
- 31:14Speaker 2: A couple episodes are out there. The journey is just beginning. Again,
- 31:18Speaker 2: it's Sex Unlocked with Lala Kent and Sally Carson. Thanks
- 31:22Speaker 2: for joining us today.
- 31:22Speaker 4: Thanks, Sally.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Thanks guys.
- 31:25Speaker 4: Well, that was Sally Carson. That was fun. She's, she's
- 31:29Speaker 4: a character.
- 31:30Speaker 5: She's our runaway bride of the bachelor franchise. Yeah.
- 31:33Speaker 2: I mean, I always, I mean it like when you
- 31:35Speaker 2: have somebody, uh, you know, I, I don't want to
- 31:39Speaker 2: be somebody actually who, uh, when somebody is telling you, Hey,
- 31:42Speaker 2: I'm hurting or I'm not doing great. Or I recognize
- 31:46Speaker 2: this behavior. Like you don't want to be somebody who's like, ah,
- 31:48Speaker 2: screw it. Just keep doing it. Like that's not healthy.
- 31:50Speaker 2: That's not good. You want to make sure like they
- 31:52Speaker 2: have the support to, grow in whatever they want to grow.
- 31:55Speaker 2: But at the same time, uh, I always appreciate somebody
- 31:59Speaker 2: who is willing to go against the fray to, you know,
- 32:03Speaker 2: talk about things that other people aren't talking about. Uh,
- 32:07Speaker 2: and especially as somebody who's kind of learning through it themselves,
- 32:11Speaker 2: I think like picking us along for that ride is, uh,
- 32:16Speaker 2: is always beneficial because you know, so many people are
- 32:19Speaker 2: trying to do it alone or they feel alone within it. So,
- 32:22Speaker 2: Sally is, uh, Sally and Lala are obviously doing something
- 32:26Speaker 2: that yes, is wild. Some of these titles of these
- 32:28Speaker 2: podcasts that I just looked up for sex and locked
- 32:30Speaker 2: are shocking. Um, but, um, they're doing it and, you
- 32:36Speaker 2: can go listen to it if it's, if you're curious.
- 32:38Speaker 3: About it right now.
- 32:39Speaker 4: I'm a little curious now. Yeah.
- 32:41Speaker 3: You're going to listen to it.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Um, Hey, uh, we'll be back, uh, with more content
- 32:47Speaker 2: this week, headlines, interviews, um, breakdowns of all the craziness
- 32:52Speaker 2: that's happening in bachelor nation and surrounding it.
