- 0:00Speaker 1: NASA's Artemis two not just a mission and inspiration, a
- 0:04Speaker 1: spark in a country that could use one, But it
- 0:07Speaker 1: ought to be something else too, a wake up call, because,
- 0:10Speaker 1: whether we want to admit it or not, we are
- 0:13Speaker 1: in another space race, and this one is with China. Now,
- 0:18Speaker 1: if that sounds familiar, it should. We've been here before.
- 0:21Speaker 1: The Soviets beat us first, first satellite, first man in space,
- 0:25Speaker 1: and those losses they stung. They forced us to get serious.
- 0:29Speaker 1: No American wanted to look up at the Moon and
- 0:32Speaker 1: see a red flag flying overhead. And yet here we
- 0:35Speaker 1: are again, because in many ways China is ahead. They've
- 0:40Speaker 1: already landed robotically on the far side of the Moon,
- 0:43Speaker 1: retrieved samples, and returned them to Earth. China says they'll
- 0:47Speaker 1: put astronauts on the Moon by twenty thirty. NASA says
- 0:50Speaker 1: we'll get there by twenty twenty eight. But even NASA's
- 0:53Speaker 1: own leadership is sounding the alarm. They may be early,
- 0:57Speaker 1: we may be late, and history suggest that matters. That
- 1:01Speaker 1: from NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman. And it's not just about
- 1:05Speaker 1: getting there first, it's about staying. And the nation that
- 1:08Speaker 1: stays sets the rules, writes the future controls the frontier,
- 1:12Speaker 1: So yes, it matters. It matters if China wins. Space
- 1:17Speaker 1: is not just about exploration. It's about power, about resources,
- 1:21Speaker 1: about technology, about who leads and who follows. And if
- 1:25Speaker 1: we lose that edge, it won't just show up on
- 1:28Speaker 1: the moon. It'll show up here at home, in our economy,
- 1:31Speaker 1: in our influence, even in the strength of the dollar.
- 1:35Speaker 1: You can see how it builds. So the next time
- 1:38Speaker 1: someone says, why does it matter, you'll know the answer.
- 1:41Speaker 1: It mattered then, it matters now, and it always will.
- 1:45Speaker 1: The only acceptable outcome victory, godspeed,
