- 0:12Speaker 1: six five. We are part of the Action Network. I
- 0:15Speaker 1: am Chadmillman, Chief Content Officer of the Action Network. We
- 0:21Speaker 1: are beginning our series of division previews for the next
- 0:27Speaker 1: eight episodes. Every Tuesday, every Thursday, we are going we
- 0:33Speaker 1: are all Football from now until the end of the
- 0:36Speaker 1: Super Bowl. Come the first Sunday of the NFL season,
- 0:41Speaker 1: we will be going Tuesday, Thursday Sunday. Me and my bff,
- 0:48Speaker 1: my companion, my Campodrey Professional Better, Simon Hunter Eado.
- 0:57Speaker 2: So, ii'mon Hello, hotcha? How are we doing? Brother? Dude?
- 1:03Speaker 1: You don't sound good.
- 1:07Speaker 2: I'm good. I'm in Hawaii. I'm living the dream man.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Well, did you have any nightmares last night?
- 1:16Speaker 2: Why do you want to talk about this? People don't
- 1:18Speaker 2: want to hear about my short.
- 1:19Speaker 1: They do because it's freaky and it's and because when
- 1:23Speaker 1: you said it, and you'll explain it, Matt Mitchell said,
- 1:27Speaker 1: what happens to him, and these things have never happened
- 1:29Speaker 1: to me.
- 1:32Speaker 2: You've you've never been abducted by aliens.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Chad, Well, that's different than what happened to you.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Apparently it's not. That's what I look up sleep paralysis,
- 1:40Speaker 2: and that's a lot of people recurring things. They get abducted. Luckily,
- 1:43Speaker 2: I've never been abducted. But yeah, Chad's referring to I
- 1:49Speaker 2: have this weird thing where I'll wake up. I'm still asleep,
- 1:53Speaker 2: but I think I'm awake and you see stuff, which
- 1:57Speaker 2: is what Chad's referring to. And I, unfortunately, I have
- 2:00Speaker 2: a fear of spiders. I know, it's probably the least
- 2:03Speaker 2: mainly thing. I'm actually getting better. I'll say this off
- 2:07Speaker 2: the top. I'm getting better at it. But I'm in Hawaii,
- 2:10Speaker 2: and if you don't know, there are just massive insects
- 2:15Speaker 2: here and it's weird. The number one thing I'm scared
- 2:18Speaker 2: of here is centi petees. I don't know if you've
- 2:20Speaker 2: ever read about the Hawaiian Senate Peachad, but it is
- 2:22Speaker 2: a little bastard. If it bites or stings you, it hurt.
- 2:25Speaker 2: It's like a mother. And they're about six to seven
- 2:28Speaker 2: inches long, so they're pretty damn big. But that's besides
- 2:31Speaker 2: the pointy. I basically rolled over and I saw a
- 2:34Speaker 2: giant spider on my wall. So in a true manly fashion,
- 2:38Speaker 2: sprinted out of the bedroom, closed the door, behind me,
- 2:41Speaker 2: and it took me about an hour to get the
- 2:43Speaker 2: courage to go back into said room with uh basically
- 2:47Speaker 2: like a spray to kill the spider. I couldn't find it,
- 2:49Speaker 2: and that's when I realized I probably just made it
- 2:51Speaker 2: up in my own dream. So I went to bed
- 2:53Speaker 2: at I would say, one am after the Women's World
- 2:57Speaker 2: Cup ended, and I woke up at five am, so
- 3:00Speaker 2: you know, and I saw four hours of sleep before
- 3:02Speaker 2: joining you on this lovely podcast.
- 3:04Speaker 3: You know what I love.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I love how you share your vulnerabilities on the show
- 3:12Speaker 1: because you are you are the opposite of someone. You
- 3:15Speaker 1: are like six ' three and you are strong, and
- 3:20Speaker 1: you're a professional better who like that is a hard
- 3:25Speaker 1: job and it can be a scary job, and yet
- 3:28Speaker 1: you're still willing to come on and talk about love one,
- 3:32Speaker 1: love lost, fear of spiders, your Pikachu cards.
- 3:37Speaker 2: That's beautiful, that's true. Yeah, I don't know. I told you.
- 3:42Speaker 2: I think the scariest part of my job will always
- 3:45Speaker 2: be handling a lot of cash, Like going with a
- 3:47Speaker 2: lot of cashwy sportsbook will always be the scariest. I'd
- 3:51Speaker 2: rather do that a million times over than you even
- 3:53Speaker 2: have to deal with one little Spider. So I'll let
- 3:55Speaker 2: you let's let you know, is hight I stand where
- 3:57Speaker 2: I'm at with Spider's ched.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Well, well, you know what's not scary thinking about talking
- 4:04Speaker 1: to our very good friend, friend of the show, former
- 4:08Speaker 1: Action Network colleague, new betting analyst for Matthew Berry's Fantasy Life.
- 4:14Speaker 1: I get the newsletter. It's really good. I'm excited that
- 4:17Speaker 1: Matthew Friedman is going to be coming on the show,
- 4:21Speaker 1: and we're going to preview the NFC West. It's going
- 4:24Speaker 1: to be the first division preview we're doing. As a reminder,

- 4:58Speaker 1: show before we could announce that you were officially joined
- 5:02Speaker 1: Fantasy Life. Now you have joined. Tell us how great
- 5:06Speaker 1: it is. Tell us everything you're going to be doing,
- 5:08Speaker 1: tell us how awesome Matthew Berry is as a boss.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Yeah, the best boss I've ever had, without question.
- 5:16Speaker 1: See I knew and will you.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Set me up?
- 5:19Speaker 3: It's like you wanted me to go there, Chad, Yeah,
- 5:22Speaker 3: you know we are longtime nemeses, you and I. And
- 5:26Speaker 3: so even though I would say that I don't really
- 5:30Speaker 3: carry that mantle anymore, whenever I come back on the show,
- 5:33Speaker 3: I feel the need to assume that role just to
- 5:38Speaker 3: just to make sure I don't disappoint you more than
- 5:40Speaker 3: more than anything else, I feel like you want me
- 5:42Speaker 3: to come on the show and still like maintain my
- 5:44Speaker 3: hatred edge.
- 5:46Speaker 1: You're underestimating my continued annoyance of you and disappointment and hatred.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Okay, well that's fine In some ways. I feel like
- 5:58Speaker 3: even that is still on brand and within keeping of
- 6:02Speaker 3: what you would expect. But yeah, everything is great at
- 6:05Speaker 3: Fantasy Life. I am working on a series long series
- 6:10Speaker 3: of articles, thirty two articles breaking down all the different
- 6:14Speaker 3: teams from a betting perspective entering the season, so ranking
- 6:18Speaker 3: all of their different units, the individual units power ratings
- 6:21Speaker 3: for all the team's projections for the teams win total projections,
- 6:26Speaker 3: projecting the fifty three man rosters for all of the teams,
- 6:29Speaker 3: with notes on literally every player players on the borderline
- 6:32Speaker 3: as well. So it is a beefy process. I feel
- 6:36Speaker 3: like I'm climbing up Everest doing it. But it is
- 6:39Speaker 3: the most fun I've had in years. So absolutely thrilled
- 6:42Speaker 3: to be in this position.
- 6:43Speaker 1: The most fun you've had, and say, exactly two years
- 6:46Speaker 1: since you left the Action Network, but that was the
- 6:49Speaker 1: most fun you had had until this time.
- 6:52Speaker 3: I don't know if we need to contextualize it within
- 6:55Speaker 3: that timeframe. You know, I would just say the most
- 6:57Speaker 3: fun I've had in years.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Okay, Well, I'm looking forward to getting a full debriefing
- 7:02Speaker 1: on the ways in which Matthew Berry is a better
- 7:05Speaker 1: boss than me. But until then, we got to break
- 7:08Speaker 1: down the NFC West, the Niners, the Seahawks, the Rams,
- 7:13Speaker 1: the Cardinals. There are question marks all over this freaking division.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Here's how we're going to start quarterback quarterback quarterback because
- 7:27Speaker 1: right now we don't know Kyler Murray's status, we don't
- 7:32Speaker 1: know Matthew Stafford's status. We're hoping Brock Purty is ready
- 7:39Speaker 1: to go, but like, other than that, it's only Geno Davis,
- 7:47Speaker 1: and I mean Geno Smith and the Seahawks, who we
- 7:52Speaker 1: know for a fact who their quarterback is. Friedman. How
- 7:56Speaker 1: are we handicapping this?
- 7:59Speaker 3: I'm going to assume that Matthew Stafford is close to
- 8:04Speaker 3: the Matthew Stafford that we saw in twenty twenty one.
- 8:08Speaker 3: That you know, what we saw last year was a
- 8:10Speaker 3: guy who you know, had arm issues. He's rested. Now
- 8:13Speaker 3: he comes back. The question is can you stay healthy?
- 8:16Speaker 3: But I think at the beginning of the season he's
- 8:18Speaker 3: fairly close to twenty twenty one Matthew Stafford brock Perty.
- 8:22Speaker 3: I think, you know, the main question with him is
- 8:24Speaker 3: not so much the elbow stuff, because he's already returned
- 8:27Speaker 3: to action. You know, he's somewhat limited two days on,
- 8:31Speaker 3: one day off, but it's a very positive step that
- 8:33Speaker 3: he's already out on the field, taking snaps, going through
- 8:36Speaker 3: his reads, doing all of the stuff. Like the days
- 8:39Speaker 3: that he's on, he's fully on, so that is very
- 8:42Speaker 3: encouraging for him. I think the question isn't so much
- 8:44Speaker 3: is he going to be the Week one starter, but
- 8:47Speaker 3: is he going to be the guy that we saw
- 8:49Speaker 3: the first seven games? That he started last year when
- 8:52Speaker 3: he was healthy. Now, Like, on the one hand, he's
- 8:56Speaker 3: a seventh rounder, like mister irrelevant, you have to have
- 9:00Speaker 3: a pretty like low baseline. But he's in an offense
- 9:05Speaker 3: that has made other quarterbacks look like fantastic players. He's
- 9:10Speaker 3: got playmakers around him, and what he did last year
- 9:14Speaker 3: was super impressive. So we have to take that like
- 9:17Speaker 3: and balance it with the fact that he's a seventh rounder.
- 9:20Speaker 3: So Perty is really intriguing to me. Kyler Murray. I
- 9:23Speaker 3: wouldn't say like I'm riding off for the season, but
- 9:26Speaker 3: you know, there's a chance he doesn't play another snap
- 9:29Speaker 3: for the Cardinals. But Perty, if he's healthy, which it
- 9:33Speaker 3: looks like he's trending in that direction, I think he's
- 9:36Speaker 3: enough for the rest of that San Francisco team to
- 9:39Speaker 3: be a strong contender in the NFC.
- 9:43Speaker 1: All Right, I feel like you are, Simon. I want
- 9:47Speaker 1: your take on this. But Frieman just described Perty as
- 9:51Speaker 1: a mister irrelevant seventh rounder just enough. That is not
- 9:56Speaker 1: the party who we saw playing for the Niners last
- 9:59Speaker 1: year before or he was injured in that Eagles game.
- 10:02Speaker 1: The party we saw playing was making plays, was winning games.
- 10:06Speaker 1: He wasn't just managing games so square for me, your
- 10:10Speaker 1: opinion of Party right now versus what Friedman is describing,
- 10:13Speaker 1: which is essentially trentolf I.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Mean that's what he is. It feels like Party is
- 10:18Speaker 2: that ex girlfriend with all those red flags, but you're like,
- 10:20Speaker 2: well that one time she was really nice to me
- 10:23Speaker 2: and took care of me when I was sick. That
- 10:24Speaker 2: feels like what brock Purty is, where it's like, yeah,
- 10:27Speaker 2: he had that incredible run, but we kind of saw
- 10:30Speaker 2: who he was right when the defense is really prepared
- 10:32Speaker 2: for him in the playoffs, Like it's just there's a
- 10:35Speaker 2: reason he was a seventh round prick. And I love
- 10:38Speaker 2: what Shanahan's doing, which is he's given the guy his loyalty.
- 10:41Speaker 2: I being, well, we just what's Freeman just talked about.
- 10:43Speaker 2: It's like this guy got us to that point. He
- 10:45Speaker 2: deserves to be the starter. Man. That's a tough pill
- 10:49Speaker 2: to swallow when they've invested so much into Trey Lance, right,
- 10:52Speaker 2: They've get they gave a multiple first round picks, they
- 10:54Speaker 2: moved up in a draft to take this kid, and
- 10:56Speaker 2: now they're what showcasing him to trade them. It feels
- 10:59Speaker 2: like that's kind of what they're doing. Here right because
- 11:01Speaker 2: they're already saying Purdy is the guy. They're giving them
- 11:03Speaker 2: all first team reps right now. So to me, I
- 11:07Speaker 2: don't like the mojo, Chad. This is one of these
- 11:09Speaker 2: things I'm gonna knock on the forty nine ers right now.
- 11:11Speaker 2: I don't really like what I'm feeling or hearing out
- 11:14Speaker 2: of camp with this. But to me, he's Shanahan's in
- 11:18Speaker 2: a great position. He's got three quarterbacks that he likes.
- 11:20Speaker 2: So he likes Purty, he likes Trey Lance, he likes
- 11:23Speaker 2: Sam Darnold. That's a good spot to be in because
- 11:27Speaker 2: I don't know if this pretty thing is gonna work out.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Like he's coming back, so again, Chad just talked about
- 11:32Speaker 2: that he was a seventh round pick and he's coming
- 11:34Speaker 2: off a major injury surgery. Right he had Tommy John
- 11:37Speaker 2: surgery fixed his elbow. That's a big deal. Like, the
- 11:40Speaker 2: guy didn't have any offseason programs. Now he's getting thrown
- 11:43Speaker 2: right in with the first team offense, and you can
- 11:45Speaker 2: go through it. He's been terrible since he's been back.
- 11:48Speaker 2: He's had multiple fumbles, he's throwing multiple interceptions, he's been
- 11:51Speaker 2: sacked a bunch, and there's just This is just their practices, right,
- 11:54Speaker 2: This is Red Jersey practices. So I would say, not
- 11:59Speaker 2: a big deal. All right, it's August first, not that
- 12:02Speaker 2: big of a deal. If it keeps being this way
- 12:04Speaker 2: the next two weeks, I really do think they'll have
- 12:07Speaker 2: to make a Trey Lance or Sam Darnold move. Lloyda
- 12:10Speaker 2: Teak only goes so far. We have a team like
- 12:12Speaker 2: this with forty nine or so right now. Brock Pretty
- 12:15Speaker 2: is rusty, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt,
- 12:17Speaker 2: but I don't like it. I don't like that they're
- 12:20Speaker 2: committing so much of this kid that seems to me
- 12:23Speaker 2: like he was just a flash in the pan. I
- 12:24Speaker 2: don't know if he really as legit as he seemed
- 12:26Speaker 2: like he was last year.
- 12:28Speaker 3: I have two thoughts here, if I could, if I
- 12:30Speaker 3: could jump in, so they're kind of divergent in thoughts.
- 12:34Speaker 3: So the first has to do with Trey Lance and
- 12:36Speaker 3: that a year ago he was a hot, long shot
- 12:40Speaker 3: MVP ticket and it made sense. You think of Trey
- 12:43Speaker 3: Lance with all of the raw talent that he has
- 12:45Speaker 3: within that offense, what he was able to do in
- 12:48Speaker 3: college now, granted like it was going to be super raw,
- 12:51Speaker 3: but if things worked out. You could see how he's
- 12:54Speaker 3: the quarterback on a team that's the number one seed
- 12:58Speaker 3: in the NFC and he does enough to win the MVP.
- 13:00Speaker 3: You could see that. I don't know why we would
- 13:03Speaker 3: assume that because he didn't play all that well in
- 13:06Speaker 3: a monsoon in Chicago in Week one and then was
- 13:10Speaker 3: injured in Week two, that all of a sudden, all
- 13:12Speaker 3: of the potential he had just a year ago, is
- 13:15Speaker 3: all of a sudden gone. Now. It's not encouraging that
- 13:18Speaker 3: Shanahan doesn't seem to be as invested in Lance as
- 13:22Speaker 3: he was a year ago, and so that I think
- 13:24Speaker 3: carries some signal, But there is still great potential in
- 13:27Speaker 3: Trey Lance.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Now.
- 13:28Speaker 3: The other thing, and this sort of goes against what
- 13:31Speaker 3: I just said, is that Rock Purty, like one of
- 13:34Speaker 3: the most intriguing bets to me that I've made this
- 13:37Speaker 3: offseason was brock Purty seventy five to one to win MVP,
- 13:41Speaker 3: because it's basically the same thesis as what we had
- 13:44Speaker 3: with Trey Lance last year, minus like the draft capital.
- 13:48Speaker 3: But when brock Party was on the field last year,
- 13:51Speaker 3: he was number one in a number of efficiency metrics.
- 13:54Speaker 3: So if he returns and he's healthy and he's the
- 13:58Speaker 3: starter all year, and you have a forty team with
- 14:01Speaker 3: a great defense that ends up getting the number one
- 14:03Speaker 3: seed in the NFC. He's got the narrative to be
- 14:06Speaker 3: able to carry him from mister irrelevant to MVP. So like,
- 14:10Speaker 3: I don't think Lance is totally dead. And if he
- 14:13Speaker 3: ended up becoming the starter, I think he would outperform expectations.
- 14:16Speaker 3: But if perty's the Week one starter and he keeps
- 14:19Speaker 3: that job, like there could be a lot of steam
- 14:21Speaker 3: that carries him.
- 14:23Speaker 1: The forty nine Ers right now are minus one seventy
- 14:26Speaker 1: five to win the division. Their season win total is
- 14:33Speaker 1: at eleven and a half. Simon start with the season
- 14:37Speaker 1: win total. Are you over or under the eleven and
- 14:41Speaker 1: a half wins for the Niners with a dominant defense
- 14:46Speaker 1: and a potentially serviceable quarterback and really good offensive weapons
- 14:52Speaker 1: to win twelve of seventeen games?
- 14:55Speaker 2: Regression just another team that's an easy bet for regression,
- 14:59Speaker 2: Like across the board, do you really think McCaffrey's gonna
- 15:02Speaker 2: stay fully healthy again for the full season. Probably not.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Do you really think their defense is gonna be as
- 15:06Speaker 2: healthy as they were for the full season? Probably not.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Do you think they're having a cupcaps. They had a
- 15:11Speaker 2: really easy schedule last year. You think that's gonna happen again.
- 15:13Speaker 2: I don't think so. I've gone through their schedule. It's
- 15:16Speaker 2: gonna be tougher. Yes, Arizona will be layups, but I
- 15:18Speaker 2: think Stafford and that Rams team is gonna be better.
- 15:21Speaker 2: I think the Seahawks they played them tough last year.
- 15:22Speaker 2: I think the same thing where that division, it's just
- 15:25Speaker 2: not gonna be a cake walk that it was last year.
- 15:27Speaker 2: I think both times they played the Seahawks, they absolutely
- 15:29Speaker 2: blew them, noun dominated them. I just don't see it
- 15:31Speaker 2: being that way, especially now they lost their defensive coordinator.
- 15:35Speaker 2: He's now the head coach down in Houston. So you know,
- 15:38Speaker 2: I wish I'd come here and just say it's all
- 15:39Speaker 2: roses for this fortynin Ers team. I got them at
- 15:42Speaker 2: ten point four wins, so I have them, you know,
- 15:46Speaker 2: just take away the four that's at ten wins, that's
- 15:48Speaker 2: where I'm an average. I'm at, that's under a one
- 15:50Speaker 2: point five wins for their their win total where they're at,
- 15:53Speaker 2: So to me, it's not shocking that they're a plus
- 15:56Speaker 2: number right now to the over right, I think on
- 15:59Speaker 2: bet three, six five. It is plus one thirty five
- 16:01Speaker 2: to take the over eleven and a half. That's that's
- 16:05Speaker 2: a trap. That really stinks. That just shows you all
- 16:08Speaker 2: the professional money's coming on the under, just because we're
- 16:10Speaker 2: playing the history of the league, the league the same thing.
- 16:13Speaker 2: We're gonna talk about egos going way down in the future.
- 16:15Speaker 2: It's just teams that have a lot of success of
- 16:17Speaker 2: the previous year. A lot is built into a lot
- 16:20Speaker 2: of that is health. A lot of it depends on health.
- 16:22Speaker 2: And we've seen it with Shannon's teams. He's a he
- 16:25Speaker 2: saw kind of a coach, like they'll make it to
- 16:26Speaker 2: the super Bowl next year they go fourth in the
- 16:29Speaker 2: division or third in the division. It's just the way
- 16:31Speaker 2: the four and a Arrows have been, I mean the
- 16:32Speaker 2: last decade. So looking at this team, I still think
- 16:37Speaker 2: they're probably the number two team in the NFC right.
- 16:39Speaker 2: They have so much talent across the board. If they
- 16:42Speaker 2: can stay healthy and if Brock can come in and
- 16:44Speaker 2: be what he was last year, I have no doubt
- 16:47Speaker 2: they'll cross this eleven and a half number. But if
- 16:49Speaker 2: you're betting off a model, no model is gonna tell
- 16:52Speaker 2: you to take this over. It's just a bad number.
- 16:54Speaker 2: It's just a public number two like the books. I'm
- 16:57Speaker 2: shocked them and dropped to eleven. I guess they know
- 17:00Speaker 2: there's not enough people. I bet that plus number eleven
- 17:02Speaker 2: a half to take the over. So to me, it's
- 17:04Speaker 2: it's a good number. Ten and seven, eleven and six.
- 17:07Speaker 2: That's right where the forty nine ers are probably gonna
- 17:09Speaker 2: fish this year. So I'm happy to take that under Chad.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Well, that's what's interesting about quick hold on Free Minutes
- 17:15Speaker 1: my podcast.
- 17:17Speaker 3: I'll stop continue continue.
- 17:21Speaker 1: What I was going to say about the Niners before
- 17:22Speaker 1: Freeman went off. You know, I got Matthew Berry as
- 17:25Speaker 1: a boss, so I can interrupt anybody on me is
- 17:29Speaker 1: that they normally do regress because they go through these
- 17:32Speaker 1: years of terrible injuries and then last year Trey Lance,
- 17:37Speaker 1: Jimmy g Purty both I think was hurt for parts
- 17:40Speaker 1: of the year like they Samuel was hurt for parts
- 17:44Speaker 1: of the year. They were certainly imperfect with their biggest
- 17:47Speaker 1: with their biggest players, and still outperformed at every level,
- 17:51Speaker 1: which is why, by the way, Shanahan gets grouped with
- 17:55Speaker 1: every other coach in the NFL as like at the top,
- 17:59Speaker 1: top tier, it's because he's such a wizard with what
- 18:02Speaker 1: he does with his players and his lineups and his rosters.
- 18:06Speaker 1: So it's hard to bet against the Niners at eleven
- 18:12Speaker 1: and a half. I know what you're saying, but if
- 18:16Speaker 1: you're going to be the second best team in the East,
- 18:20Speaker 1: you're getting the twelve wins.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Freeman, go ahead, i'ven projected for ten point seven. So
- 18:26Speaker 3: I'm right there with Simon in that ballpark of where
- 18:28Speaker 3: they're going to finish.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Is that what you're going to say?
- 18:32Speaker 3: Yes, that's exactly what I was going to say.
- 18:36Speaker 1: All right, I do want to talk about the Rams.
- 18:38Speaker 1: I want to skip over the Seahawks for a second
- 18:40Speaker 1: because Freeman, you just talked about Matthew Stafford being healthy
- 18:47Speaker 1: and play into twenty twenty one levels if he's able
- 18:51Speaker 1: to maintain his health. Simon has been beating the drama
- 18:55Speaker 1: on the Rams. Their season win total is six and
- 18:57Speaker 1: a half. They're plus nine hundred rid to win the
- 19:01Speaker 1: division right now, Like you're not going to bet the
- 19:06Speaker 1: Niners at minus one seventy five, you're not going to
- 19:09Speaker 1: bet the Niners to go over eleven and a half.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Or shouldn't we be going all in on the Rams? Simon,
- 19:17Speaker 1: you first at plus nine hundred and over six and
- 19:19Speaker 1: a half.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't want to stop you, Chet because I
- 19:22Speaker 2: respect you that much. When you said Stafford, you're unsure
- 19:25Speaker 2: about him, what's there to be unsure about the man?
- 19:28Speaker 2: His man has been in camp, he did the off
- 19:29Speaker 2: season program. He took one rest day yesterday and that
- 19:32Speaker 2: was apparently a scheduled rest day, that's what McVeigh said,
- 19:36Speaker 2: and he won't be taking any more days off the
- 19:37Speaker 2: rest of preseason. So to me, Stafford, again, guys can
- 19:41Speaker 2: lie and they can bs, but he looks healthy. He's
- 19:44Speaker 2: been talking to meet. He said, this is the best
- 19:47Speaker 2: he's felt since that Super Bowl preseason run, where his
- 19:50Speaker 2: body's right. He got this, he got everything taking care
- 19:52Speaker 2: of him in the off season. I know people ask
- 19:55Speaker 2: about this stuff, guys. I don't have a model that
- 19:57Speaker 2: can talk about what a guy's off season is and
- 20:00Speaker 2: a model that can predict the drama going in his
- 20:02Speaker 2: own life. I know his wife's cancer came back. That's
- 20:05Speaker 2: a big deal, and I feel terrible for Matthew Stafford,
- 20:07Speaker 2: his family. I don't know how that factors into what
- 20:10Speaker 2: I'm doing here. So when people ask about that stuff,
- 20:12Speaker 2: like don't you feel weird back in the rams and
- 20:13Speaker 2: he's all this stuff gone off the field, He's dealt
- 20:15Speaker 2: with this and and his wife have been through a
- 20:17Speaker 2: lot of turmoil in their life. So to me, I
- 20:20Speaker 2: don't really put any weight into that when I look
- 20:21Speaker 2: at this team just on paper, all the red flags,
- 20:24Speaker 2: all the question mark is going to be on the defense.
- 20:27Speaker 2: They have a lot of young talent on the defense.
- 20:29Speaker 2: They've given up all these draft picks to mortgage their
- 20:32Speaker 2: future to win that one super Bowl. So I get
- 20:36Speaker 2: all the questions. There's a reason they're ten to nine
- 20:38Speaker 2: to one to win this division, But the biggest one
- 20:41Speaker 2: is they're just left for dead by the general public.
- 20:42Speaker 2: The public loves the Seahawks, they love the forty nine ers.
- 20:46Speaker 2: I mean, hell, chaed we talked about it. I might
- 20:49Speaker 2: be the only guy in America that had Stafford in
- 20:51Speaker 2: their top ten of quarterback rankings. Like people just have
- 20:53Speaker 2: left him for dead. He won a super Bowl not
- 20:56Speaker 2: even two years ago. It's it is bizarre that just
- 21:00Speaker 2: the way it isn't football. It just people move on
- 21:01Speaker 2: really quick. And they always liked the new toy. This
- 21:05Speaker 2: is where I love love taking the old guard, Like
- 21:07Speaker 2: I love the old quarterback that's kind of left for
- 21:09Speaker 2: dead that he is so far above talent wise. It's
- 21:13Speaker 2: you know, to me, I look at this team and
- 21:15Speaker 2: it's just all offensively driven, Like they have Cooper Cup
- 21:18Speaker 2: and then a bunch of wide receivers that people don't
- 21:20Speaker 2: know about, but they're really talented wide receiver group. And
- 21:23Speaker 2: then you have mcveigh's running scheme, which is one of
- 21:24Speaker 2: the best run blocking schemes in all football. I love
- 21:27Speaker 2: that on the offensive side. The big question mark is
- 21:29Speaker 2: the defensive side, but we're not paying for that. Like literally,
- 21:33Speaker 2: I can't stop betting the over six and a half
- 21:35Speaker 2: and I can't stop betting the divisional future. It's just
- 21:38Speaker 2: really good value on a team that they had six
- 21:41Speaker 2: wins last year, Chad. This team had six wins last
- 21:45Speaker 2: year with Baker Mayfield coming off a Super Bowl hangover
- 21:48Speaker 2: all that bs, they still somehow got the six wins
- 21:51Speaker 2: last year. So to me, this is classic dumb public
- 21:54Speaker 2: We'll bet this under. They'll be all in on the Seahawks.
- 21:56Speaker 2: I'll be in on the forty nine ers, and I'll
- 21:59Speaker 2: just take this number in the same that we already
- 22:00Speaker 2: talked about, Chad. They start the season at Seattle and
- 22:04Speaker 2: then at home against the forty nine Ers. Guarantee you
- 22:08Speaker 2: if they go to and oh the Rams, they will
- 22:10Speaker 2: go from ten to one, nine to one Divisional odds
- 22:13Speaker 2: to maybe three hundred to one to four to one.
- 22:16Speaker 2: It's just that's a big, big drop. So that's just
- 22:19Speaker 2: to me, it's an easy value play. Like there's rare,
- 22:23Speaker 2: there's rare opportunities where you got a really easy value
- 22:26Speaker 2: play and a veteran quarterback, and this is one of them.
- 22:28Speaker 2: This is one of these where the money has dictated
- 22:30Speaker 2: this number. Again, I'll talk to plenty of book makers.
- 22:33Speaker 2: It's just all Seahawks money in this division and then
- 22:37Speaker 2: it's all forty nine Ers money. Right, So to me,
- 22:41Speaker 2: you know, feels gross. Chad doesn't feel good betting on
- 22:44Speaker 2: this Rams team, just because I think Freeman alluded to
- 22:46Speaker 2: it a little bit of you know, he could be
- 22:49Speaker 2: traded Stafford that like that, that is a real thing.
- 22:51Speaker 2: They tried to move him in the offseason. Apparently he
- 22:55Speaker 2: stepped in and said he didn't want to be traded,
- 22:57Speaker 2: and like he said, that's good to be one of
- 22:59Speaker 2: by Velly's other teams. But it's just gone too far.
- 23:01Speaker 2: The other way this Rams hate, right, they still have
- 23:03Speaker 2: Aaron Donald as the anchor of that defense. They still
- 23:06Speaker 2: have Stafford Cooper Cup on that offense. I just I
- 23:10Speaker 2: think there's too much doubt with McVeigh right now with
- 23:12Speaker 2: this team. It's just it just doesn't make sense to
- 23:15Speaker 2: be chat six and a half on a team that
- 23:16Speaker 2: got six wins last year. It's too low. But then
- 23:19Speaker 2: you look at the numbers and the public are betting
- 23:20Speaker 2: this under. They're taking this under just because they think
- 23:23Speaker 2: this team isn't that good. So I'm gonna take the over.
- 23:26Speaker 2: I'm gonna take the divisional odds, and it's an easy,
- 23:28Speaker 2: easy position that if they do go to and OW
- 23:30Speaker 2: to start the year, then I come back in the
- 23:32Speaker 2: other side. I'll take the forty nine ers because the
- 23:34Speaker 2: four Niners right now, would you say they were chat
- 23:36Speaker 2: minus won seventy five for this division.
- 23:37Speaker 1: I don't minus won seventy five.
- 23:39Speaker 2: I wouldn't take it that price. So to me, it's
- 23:42Speaker 2: a nice playback of Okay, say the forty nine ers,
- 23:45Speaker 2: do you start one on one, they lose that second
- 23:47Speaker 2: game to the Rams, You'll be able to get a
- 23:49Speaker 2: nice buyback on this forty nine Ers team. If that's
- 23:51Speaker 2: what you want to do. So yeah, I'm just like
- 23:53Speaker 2: the Jaguars last year. Chat. I definitely think the Rams
- 23:55Speaker 2: are one of these teams. I'm all in on this
- 23:57Speaker 2: upcoming season.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Rams plus one five over six and a half at
- 24:02Speaker 1: bet three sixty five. Right now, Simon, if Friedman doesn't
- 24:06Speaker 1: speak specifically to a question I have, I'm gonna come
- 24:11Speaker 1: back to you, Freedman, in the spirit of Jack Jerman
- 24:22Speaker 1: Los Angeles Rams, We'll say you.
- 24:26Speaker 3: I will agree with basically everything Simon said except one thing.
- 24:32Speaker 3: I don't think he's taking it far enough. Wow. If
- 24:38Speaker 3: the Rams are actually good enough to win the division
- 24:42Speaker 3: at nine to one odds, and I'll say I haven't
- 24:46Speaker 3: projected for six point nine, So I do like the
- 24:48Speaker 3: over a little bit, even though I'm a pessimist. I
- 24:51Speaker 3: would never actually bet the over on almost any win total.
- 24:54Speaker 3: But if we're thinking about the wide range of outcomes
- 24:57Speaker 3: that this team has, if they are good enough to
- 24:59Speaker 3: win the division, that means that Matthew Stafford is healthy,
- 25:04Speaker 3: Cooper Cup is healthy, Sean McVeigh is locked in and
- 25:09Speaker 3: living life, and you probably have a defense that is
- 25:13Speaker 3: anchored by Aaron Donald playing at near peak form with
- 25:17Speaker 3: a lot of young guys who have stepped up, and
- 25:20Speaker 3: you have a defense that right now, I'm ranking them
- 25:23Speaker 3: number thirty two in the league. Right but that's like
- 25:25Speaker 3: the base case, worst case scenario. If they're better, even
- 25:29Speaker 3: if they're just a little bit better and they get
- 25:31Speaker 3: some youth enthusiasm here, they could be middle of the
- 25:34Speaker 3: road and at that point you have a super Bowl
- 25:38Speaker 3: type of offense with a good enough defense. What's stopping
- 25:43Speaker 3: them from getting to the super Bowl? At that point,
- 25:45Speaker 3: if they are good enough to win the division, what
- 25:48Speaker 3: is stopping them from reaching the super Bowl? So I
- 25:50Speaker 3: would just say, bet them to win the NFC and honestly,
- 25:54Speaker 3: bet them to win the Super Bowl sixty six to
- 25:56Speaker 3: one at bet three s five, I would bet that.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Working for fantasy life, living in a fantasy that's Matthew
- 26:05Speaker 1: Friedman in a nutshell. What I wanted to ask Simon
- 26:08Speaker 1: about was what do we think about the offensive line
- 26:11Speaker 1: for the Rams, which was atrocious last year? Is that
- 26:16Speaker 1: is there been enough of an improvement that we think
- 26:18Speaker 1: it can help the Rams do what we need to do.
- 26:20Speaker 1: We're talking all about the offense, but we're talking all
- 26:22Speaker 1: about skill positions. And you have said many many times
- 26:25Speaker 1: on this show what you grade highest when it comes
- 26:29Speaker 1: to thinking about teams and their value offensive line, defensive line.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely not the strongest suit of this team. I
- 26:37Speaker 2: think i'd have to go through. I'm pretty sure I
- 26:39Speaker 2: had them anywhere from twenty two to eighteen. So they're
- 26:41Speaker 2: in that range of they're not as terrible as people
- 26:44Speaker 2: think they were last year, but they're definitely not as
- 26:46Speaker 2: good as I would hope they would be. So definitely
- 26:49Speaker 2: an issue when you got a guy like Stafford back
- 26:51Speaker 2: there that you know was taking a lot of hits
- 26:53Speaker 2: last year. That's obviously what help break him down before
- 26:57Speaker 2: he said off in the sunset last year. So I'm
- 26:59Speaker 2: ready there with you each other. That's definitely a big, big,
- 27:01Speaker 2: big negative towards me. But it's the McVeigh factor, Like
- 27:05Speaker 2: if they do have a week offensive line, McVeigh will
- 27:08Speaker 2: design his offense around that. That's what makes him so special.
- 27:10Speaker 2: So a lot a lot of stuff that you know,
- 27:14Speaker 2: I'm going to go through here in preseason and learn
- 27:16Speaker 2: more about their offensive line, But as we stand here
- 27:18Speaker 2: right now, that is a big question work to me,
- 27:20Speaker 2: is their offensive line. How they're going to perform this year?
- 27:23Speaker 2: All right.
- 27:24Speaker 1: You guys have heard us talk about game Time on

- 28:25Speaker 1: has mentioned a couple of times now. Matthew Stafford one
- 28:32Speaker 1: rest day scheduled. He took it practicing every day We've
- 28:36Speaker 1: talked about Rock Purty and his routine so far during
- 28:41Speaker 1: training camp. We're I don't know, a week into most
- 28:46Speaker 1: training camps, what is your routine and when you're prepping
- 28:50Speaker 1: for the season. When it comes to keeping track of
- 28:53Speaker 1: the news in training camps.
- 28:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I guess the routine is keeping up
- 29:00Speaker 3: like a Twitter list. I guess, not a Twitter list anymore,
- 29:03Speaker 3: an X list that sounds really weird, but an X
- 29:07Speaker 3: list of different beat reporters.
- 29:09Speaker 1: And I've got an X list.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I will just monitor throughout the day. But I
- 29:15Speaker 3: mean there's so much aggregation that happens now that it's
- 29:19Speaker 3: not hard to keep track of the news. For the
- 29:22Speaker 3: big players, it's more about I mean, like Simon said,
- 29:26Speaker 3: like think about the offensive lineman, the defensive lineman, thinking
- 29:28Speaker 3: about the depth on some of these teams, and so
- 29:31Speaker 3: for that, you know, they're just specific beat reporters who
- 29:34Speaker 3: tend to be very good at highlighting different camp battles,
- 29:37Speaker 3: like the more obscure ones. And so I'll just be
- 29:39Speaker 3: sure to read whatever reports that they have.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Stammon, what about you.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the same. It's just honestly, that's the weirdest
- 29:48Speaker 2: part about being out in Hawaii is like the whole
- 29:50Speaker 2: world goes to bed by three pm Hawaii time, which
- 29:53Speaker 2: is like nine pm East Coast. It's it's a bit
- 29:56Speaker 2: weird where it's like I'm catching up on everything from
- 29:58Speaker 2: the day. You know, we joke, Chad. This is the
- 30:02Speaker 2: time of year where it's like like DJ Moore today
- 30:05Speaker 2: called a slam route, took it for a touchdown. It's like,
- 30:07Speaker 2: holy shit, like any Bears fans going absolutely crazy. One
- 30:10Speaker 2: is less than you guys had a wide receiver that
- 30:11Speaker 2: could take a slant route to the end zone, Brandon Marshall.
- 30:14Speaker 2: So it's I think any any fan base is going crazy,
- 30:18Speaker 2: Like I can't stop reading about these Georgia Bulldog rookies
- 30:21Speaker 2: that the Eagles drafted, Like I'm obsessed. So it's one
- 30:24Speaker 2: of those where we're stars. Yeah exactly. It's like everyone's
- 30:29Speaker 2: drinking their own kool aid, and I think, as a
- 30:31Speaker 2: better our job is to sift through all the bullshit.
- 30:33Speaker 2: So right now I'm just drinking all in, like this
- 30:36Speaker 2: is the time here. I'll just take it all in
- 30:38Speaker 2: and the next couple of weeks I'll start forming and really,
- 30:40Speaker 2: really really start forming opinions on stuff where some of
- 30:43Speaker 2: this is just pure smoke screen. Some of it is
- 30:46Speaker 2: you know a lot of these teams work with these
- 30:49Speaker 2: media members. And again I'm talking about Trey Lance, but
- 30:53Speaker 2: there's no doubt in my mind the forty nine ers
- 30:55Speaker 2: are going to try to move Trey Lance like they
- 30:57Speaker 2: clearly believe in rock purity. So to me, every time
- 31:01Speaker 2: I see a hype tweet about Trey Lance or him
- 31:03Speaker 2: doing really well, it's like, Okay, is this foreignine ers
- 31:05Speaker 2: pr trying to move this guy and put his name
- 31:07Speaker 2: out there. So it is tough chat trying to stift
- 31:10Speaker 2: through all of it, but it's the best just because
- 31:12Speaker 2: we already talked about It's like there's so much information
- 31:16Speaker 2: we put out there that if you can find good sources,
- 31:19Speaker 2: you really could take advantage for the upcoming season. I
- 31:21Speaker 2: feel at this point last year, you know, we were
- 31:23Speaker 2: really ahead of it with the Chiefs team. The Chiefs
- 31:25Speaker 2: were getting so much doubt by so many people just
- 31:27Speaker 2: because they lost Tyry Kill, and we talked about all
- 31:29Speaker 2: the time it's like this team is going to be
- 31:31Speaker 2: better now they're in two tight end sets, Like that's
- 31:33Speaker 2: going to be an improvement for them this upcoming season.
- 31:35Speaker 2: And we saw that it was. So that's one of
- 31:37Speaker 2: those where, yes, I'm forming an opinions here in this preseason,
- 31:41Speaker 2: but it's one of those where it's like I'm just
- 31:43Speaker 2: trying to sift through all the bullshit. Yeah, there's just
- 31:45Speaker 2: so much bs. Everyone thinks our team's going seventeen and
- 31:49Speaker 2: h going to super Bowl at this point. So that's
- 31:51Speaker 2: my job is kind of temper expectations not throughout last year,
- 31:55Speaker 2: but mold last year this year where it's like, Okay,
- 31:59Speaker 2: just it's because the Eagles went whatever it was, thirteen
- 32:02Speaker 2: and three, thirteen or four last year is totally irrelevant
- 32:05Speaker 2: to this upcoming season. But it's nice to see those
- 32:07Speaker 2: games for a certain team. So a team we're about
- 32:10Speaker 2: to talk about, the Seahawks, is one of those teams
- 32:11Speaker 2: that just jumps out of a team with a tony
- 32:13Speaker 2: success last year. Chad, Now what are they going to
- 32:16Speaker 2: do this year?
- 32:18Speaker 1: My favorite note so far this year in reading about
- 32:22Speaker 1: the Bears during the training camp is Number one pick
- 32:27Speaker 1: Darnell right, offensive lineman from Tennessee, came into camp sixteen
- 32:32Speaker 1: pounds later in the best shape he's ever been in
- 32:35Speaker 1: because he spent the offseason doing the training program for
- 32:39Speaker 1: wide receivers. Yeah, by accident. So I'm thinking to myself,
- 32:46Speaker 1: Wait a second, am I thrilled that our top pick
- 32:51Speaker 1: and an offensive lineman is in great shape? Or on
- 32:56Speaker 1: my upset that he didn't realize he was doing the
- 32:59Speaker 1: wrong training program for an entire offseason. If you do
- 33:03Speaker 1: not communicate with anybody like what happened here. I'm gonna
- 33:06Speaker 1: take it in a positive way, because you know what
- 33:09Speaker 1: optimism season. No one's doing bad. Even the rooky corners
- 33:13Speaker 1: getting burned are still moving their hips in the just
- 33:17Speaker 1: the right way that if they can adjust their angle,
- 33:20Speaker 1: they'll be perfect. We're really encouraged by the way we're
- 33:23Speaker 1: seeing a move all right. I don't know what the
- 33:27Speaker 1: Seahawks have done in the offseason to make us think
- 33:30Speaker 1: that they are a contender in any way. This team
- 33:35Speaker 1: right now, they're at plus two twenty.
- 33:37Speaker 2: They had a great draft, plus two twenty.
- 33:40Speaker 1: One in the Division eight and a half season win total.
- 33:44Speaker 1: It has regression written all over it to me. And
- 33:51Speaker 1: they did have a great draft last year too, right,
- 33:53Speaker 1: great great draft the defensive back. They drafted the running back.
- 34:00Speaker 1: But come on, Gino's not going to be the same
- 34:03Speaker 1: Geno Friedman back me up.
- 34:08Speaker 3: Are we sure that he's not going to be close
- 34:11Speaker 3: to the same geno. I mean, I would say like
- 34:14Speaker 3: he's in a pretty large tier of NFL quarterbacks where
- 34:18Speaker 3: he could be like the number twenty quarterback in the
- 34:22Speaker 3: league or the number ten quarterback in the league, and
- 34:24Speaker 3: there really wouldn't be much separating a.
- 34:27Speaker 2: Lot of those guys.
- 34:29Speaker 3: But what he did last year was fairly close on
- 34:33Speaker 3: like a per attent basis efficiency basis to what he
- 34:36Speaker 3: did the year before when he was a backup quarterback.
- 34:39Speaker 3: He's been there a long time, so he knows the system.
- 34:42Speaker 3: Shane Waldron I think is a pretty impressive offensive coordinator.
- 34:46Speaker 3: Their offensive line should be better than it was last year,
- 34:50Speaker 3: both because they've added to it and because they had
- 34:52Speaker 3: two rookie tackles last year who were good and are
- 34:55Speaker 3: now entering into their second season. They could take another
- 34:57Speaker 3: step forward. They've increased the strength of their wide receiver
- 35:03Speaker 3: unit with drafting Jackson Smith and Jig, but now they
- 35:06Speaker 3: might have if not like it's not the best wide
- 35:10Speaker 3: receiver group in the league, but one of the best
- 35:13Speaker 3: wide receiver groups in the league. And then on top
- 35:16Speaker 3: of that, the running games should still be pretty good.
- 35:19Speaker 3: I think the offense will be good this year.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Arguably the three best receivers in the history of the NFL. Chat.
- 35:25Speaker 2: I know it's a little early to say that, but
- 35:27Speaker 2: oh my god, I'm I'm I can't believe how good
- 35:30Speaker 2: their receiving corps is. So it's scary because I want
- 35:34Speaker 2: to be right on the Seahawks team. The only people
- 35:37Speaker 2: that are really all in on them are their diehard fans,
- 35:39Speaker 2: like they're they're the Seahawks fans. They were allowed chat.
- 35:42Speaker 2: We talked at them, maybe it was a month ago
- 35:43Speaker 2: or whenever we had a freeman on just about the
- 35:45Speaker 2: regression we saw Kamlin Gino and all their fans are
- 35:48Speaker 2: just coming back saying, well, how they're going to regress
- 35:51Speaker 2: when he has another weapon too, this receiving corps, And
- 35:53Speaker 2: that is fair, you know, It's it's a rare position
- 35:59Speaker 2: of a team. Team really did dominate the draft chat
- 36:02Speaker 2: it is. We saw it last year of the Jets. Right,
- 36:05Speaker 2: we expected a lot of not bad play from the Jets,
- 36:09Speaker 2: but we just had no faith in Zach Wilson, and
- 36:10Speaker 2: we were like, we don't want to take too much
- 36:12Speaker 2: from that draft class. Right Sauce came out, became an
- 36:15Speaker 2: All Pro and that really changed that whole dynamic on
- 36:17Speaker 2: that defense. And I have no idea how good to
- 36:20Speaker 2: this how State kid is right, he could be a
- 36:21Speaker 2: total flop. And maybe I'm overblowing this, but from all
- 36:25Speaker 2: the scouts I talked to, all these guys close in
- 36:28Speaker 2: the NFL, they were on this kid for years, like
- 36:31Speaker 2: talking about how good of a talent this kid is.
- 36:33Speaker 2: And now we've seen it now in the limited time
- 36:35Speaker 2: I've seen it in preseason, this kid's route running chat
- 36:38Speaker 2: is incredible. Like again, I have tons of respect for
- 36:42Speaker 2: Dk Metcalf. DK Metcalf runs shit at routes. When he
- 36:46Speaker 2: came out of college, he was just known as a
- 36:48Speaker 2: straight ahead runner. Now he's improved, he's gotten much better.
- 36:51Speaker 2: That's not really a strong suit. Lockett, on the other hand,
- 36:53Speaker 2: the other wide receiver in that group that is we're
- 36:55Speaker 2: usually strong. He's incredible running route. So you know, I
- 36:59Speaker 2: want to I want to take this under. I having
- 37:01Speaker 2: an eight point nine wins, so that rounded up to
- 37:03Speaker 2: nine wins, so I do have them at the over
- 37:05Speaker 2: slightly nine to eight. Not that far of a stretch
- 37:07Speaker 2: for this team, right, just because last year I think
- 37:09Speaker 2: they overachieved, right, they were better earlier than most of us,
- 37:13Speaker 2: predicting I'll be the first two amit. Last year I
- 37:15Speaker 2: took their under. I did not see Gino Smith turn
- 37:19Speaker 2: around his career like he did. I really did think
- 37:21Speaker 2: last year was going to be a band aid year.
- 37:23Speaker 2: He'd be okay, but they would eventually draft a quarterback
- 37:26Speaker 2: in the drop upcoming draft. They still talk about drafting
- 37:29Speaker 2: of the quarterback. Remember that Chad. They said if Anthony
- 37:31Speaker 2: Richardson fell the five, they probably would have taken him.
- 37:33Speaker 2: So to me, this is a really obviously a smart
- 37:36Speaker 2: front office to say a coach in Pete Carroll that
- 37:42Speaker 2: I just can't get over how good of a coach
- 37:44Speaker 2: he has been through all these years. Like when he
- 37:46Speaker 2: came from USC, I was one of those people that
- 37:48Speaker 2: was like, okay, he's just running away from a school
- 37:50Speaker 2: that he tarnished, right, Remember he had all that drama.
- 37:52Speaker 2: That's why he left there. They were going to lose
- 37:53Speaker 2: the Heisman and Reggie Bush. They had a lot of
- 37:55Speaker 2: stuff going on, manas he been a great coach there.
- 37:58Speaker 2: So that's the wh artist part for me is I
- 38:01Speaker 2: do want to take this under, but my model has
- 38:03Speaker 2: them in and over and in factor in the Pete
- 38:05Speaker 2: Carroll factor of this where it's like the top tom
- 38:08Speaker 2: you know, Tomlin and this Pittsburgh team. No one saw
- 38:11Speaker 2: them in that over last year, and he did it.
- 38:12Speaker 2: He got there, metcha. I believed in it, but we
- 38:14Speaker 2: were kind of island with that Pittsburgh tam last year.
- 38:16Speaker 2: It feels same as the Seahawks this year, where I
- 38:19Speaker 2: do think Geno's gonna have a regression, but I think
- 38:21Speaker 2: that wide receiving core is so good that even if
- 38:24Speaker 2: he goes from his incredible seventy percent completion percentage to
- 38:28Speaker 2: sixty four sixty five percent, I think that's enough for
- 38:31Speaker 2: him to get this seemed to nine wins. So not
- 38:34Speaker 2: putting anyone in them. Divisionally, I do not like the
- 38:37Speaker 2: value at all. I think this is way too inflated.
- 38:39Speaker 2: To me, they're close to a plus three hundred. They're
- 38:42Speaker 2: down to I think plus one eighty plus one ninety
- 38:45Speaker 2: on bet three sixty five for this division. That's way
- 38:48Speaker 2: too low for this team. So to me, all the
- 38:51Speaker 2: value division wises on the Rams win total wise, I
- 38:55Speaker 2: will throw a very small bet on this over eight
- 38:57Speaker 2: and a half.
- 39:01Speaker 1: You said something that it's a little bit shocking.
- 39:05Speaker 2: It pained you.
- 39:08Speaker 1: The greatest receiving corps in history.
- 39:13Speaker 2: The three of them. Yeah, I honestly believe that, dude.
- 39:16Speaker 1: The Raiders had Tim Brown and Jerry Rice at the
- 39:20Speaker 1: same time.
- 39:22Speaker 2: There was white cornerbacks when there playing. Chad, that shit
- 39:24Speaker 2: don't matter. Oh my god, get out of your time capsule.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Like that is just a hugely bold statement. I feel
- 39:35Speaker 1: like we should be able to think of three receivers
- 39:38Speaker 1: on the same team, like the Chargers with Mike Williams
- 39:43Speaker 1: and Keenan Allen as two thirds of a receiving corps
- 39:48Speaker 1: are already better than what the Seahawks have. You're saying
- 39:53Speaker 1: they could go down as that.
- 39:55Speaker 2: I just I can't get how good this kid is. Man,
- 39:58Speaker 2: There's just I already knew how good lock it where
- 40:00Speaker 2: in DK metcalf forward. They literally made Gino Smith get
- 40:03Speaker 2: paid like Gino Smith was left for dead. This man
- 40:06Speaker 2: got three years what is a seventy million something crazy
- 40:11Speaker 2: like that. So I'm with you, Chad. I hate to
- 40:13Speaker 2: say shit like this, but I'm watching this kid run
- 40:17Speaker 2: routes and practice and his body control in his hands.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Holy shit, man, Like they just they nailed this draft.
- 40:24Speaker 2: And again I think they just signed the cornerback that could.
- 40:27Speaker 2: They took the fifth overall. Yeah, if he can be
- 40:31Speaker 2: what we think he should be, right, is a lockdown
- 40:34Speaker 2: corner that reshaped your whole defense. So you know, they
- 40:38Speaker 2: already have arguably a top five, top four safety in
- 40:43Speaker 2: this league. Now you're adding a hopefully to them, a
- 40:46Speaker 2: top five corner. That's that's a big deal to this
- 40:48Speaker 2: defense that you know, they struggled in a lot of
- 40:51Speaker 2: ways last year. Now they didn't really correct which is
- 40:54Speaker 2: their biggest issue, which is they couldn't stop the run
- 40:56Speaker 2: last year. I don't know if you remember this, but
- 40:58Speaker 2: they could not stop the run like that was the
- 41:00Speaker 2: biggest issue for this team. I know they've added pieces
- 41:03Speaker 2: to that d line and you know, maybe their detack
- 41:05Speaker 2: will make a big difference. But yeah, just on paper, chat,
- 41:08Speaker 2: I'm in love with this wide receiver corp. Now, I
- 41:10Speaker 2: get where you're coming from. I hate saying shit like this,
- 41:12Speaker 2: but man, it doesn't get more talented than this kind
- 41:16Speaker 2: of group.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Simon said that he thinks the Seahawks wide receiving corps
- 41:22Speaker 1: could go down, if not already as the greatest three
- 41:27Speaker 1: receivers on the same roster in NFL history.
- 41:33Speaker 3: Get the enthusiasm. I would just say it's probably a
- 41:36Speaker 3: little too soon to think that Jackson Smith and Jigba
- 41:40Speaker 3: is going to change the face of the NFL. He
- 41:43Speaker 3: is super talented. I think he's going to be a
- 41:44Speaker 3: great slot receiver. One question is how often are the
- 41:48Speaker 3: Seahawks going to go into three wide receiver sets because
- 41:52Speaker 3: they still rely on two tight ends quite a bit and.
- 41:55Speaker 2: They don't have a running back. Both their running backs
- 41:57Speaker 2: are dead.
- 41:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I know then will be healthy by the time
- 42:01Speaker 3: the season starts. But it's an offense, I know. So
- 42:05Speaker 3: you know, on the one hand, Simon is saying like regression, regression,
- 42:08Speaker 3: and then he makes the case for like why this
- 42:10Speaker 3: offense should be good and the defense you know, he
- 42:13Speaker 3: hit it there too. The defense could be pretty good,
- 42:15Speaker 3: not against the run, but maybe a little bit better
- 42:18Speaker 3: against the run, just good enough against the run, and
- 42:21Speaker 3: then super dynamic against the pass. Because Sarreik Wollan was
- 42:25Speaker 3: a legit, like long armed, super athletic, shut down cornerback
- 42:31Speaker 3: last year, and then they drafted a cornerback at number five,
- 42:34Speaker 3: like they could have one of the top corner tandums
- 42:37Speaker 3: in the league. And then they're also really strong at safety.
- 42:40Speaker 3: Now with three legit starters back there, like they might
- 42:43Speaker 3: just roll with three safeties in their nickel package or
- 42:47Speaker 3: maybe play a little bit more of a dime package.
- 42:49Speaker 3: So their defense could be significantly better than it was
- 42:52Speaker 3: last year. Their offense, I think could take a little
- 42:54Speaker 3: step forward. I'm not gonna say like they're Super Bowl contenders,
- 42:58Speaker 3: but like they feel like a team that, like, if
- 43:00Speaker 3: they get feisty, could end up playing like the forty
- 43:04Speaker 3: nine ers in the conference championship game, you know what
- 43:07Speaker 3: I mean, Like they they could have some feistiness to
- 43:10Speaker 3: them that propels them in the playoffs.
- 43:13Speaker 1: Well, look, I think I think though, for purposes of
- 43:16Speaker 1: this conversation, we don't think there's value on the Seahawks
- 43:20Speaker 1: to win the division. Simon has them at plus three
- 43:22Speaker 1: hundred and they're at bet three sixty five. Simon, you
- 43:25Speaker 1: said it was one to eighty one to ninety. I
- 43:27Speaker 1: saw it at plus two twenty, So maybe it's different
- 43:31Speaker 1: in different places, but plus two twenty and their season
- 43:34Speaker 1: win total at eight and a half. Simon has them
- 43:36Speaker 1: at eight nine, so slightly over but not something he's
- 43:41Speaker 1: gonna bet. Friedman, what was your win total on the Seahawks.
- 43:46Speaker 3: I'm close to market. I didn't really see anything bettable
- 43:50Speaker 3: for them in the futures market. It would I saw
- 43:52Speaker 3: usuff in the season one player prop market that I
- 43:55Speaker 3: thought was bettable, but really nothing on their their team
- 43:59Speaker 3: futures market.
- 44:01Speaker 1: I will look, we've left the worst team for last,
- 44:06Speaker 1: the Arizona Cardinals Kyler Murray. We don't know what's happening
- 44:10Speaker 1: with him. That is a legit question. He came out
- 44:13Speaker 1: yesterday and said he's just going maybe two days ago
- 44:15Speaker 1: and said he's, you know, making his way back, but
- 44:18Speaker 1: he's not setting a timetable to it. Their season win
- 44:23Speaker 1: total was four and a half. Their odds to win
- 44:26Speaker 1: the division their plus twenty five hundred twenty five to one.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Not much to say about this team, is there, Friedman?
- 44:39Speaker 1: If there's nothing to say, Yeah, they.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Burn it down, you know, And I will say that
- 44:45Speaker 3: I think they at least intelligently started the process of
- 44:49Speaker 3: rebuilding the entire team this past offseason. So say whatever
- 44:53Speaker 3: you want about you know, Jonathan Gannon is your head coach.
- 44:56Speaker 3: I would prefer more of an offensive minding coach defensive,
- 44:59Speaker 3: But whatever you brought in a new coach, he brought
- 45:01Speaker 3: in a new staff and then you traded away some
- 45:04Speaker 3: pieces there you have a shot at having two picks
- 45:08Speaker 3: in the top five next year. And like, to me,
- 45:10Speaker 3: that actually feels like the best case scenario for this team.
- 45:14Speaker 3: Like the worst case scenario is somehow overperforming bringing Kyler
- 45:19Speaker 3: Murray back to early and you have a record of
- 45:22Speaker 3: like five and twelve, you know, to where like you
- 45:25Speaker 3: didn't really do anything to help yourself this season or
- 45:29Speaker 3: for the future. So I will be curious to see
- 45:32Speaker 3: how it is that they implement the rebuilding during the season.
- 45:38Speaker 3: But even with an incredibly low win total, there's no
- 45:43Speaker 3: way I would want to take the over because they
- 45:46Speaker 3: could just make a series of moves during the year
- 45:49Speaker 3: that make this team perpetually underperform and end up with
- 45:54Speaker 3: the worst record in the league.
- 45:57Speaker 1: So let's take the under, Simon, Let's take the under
- 45:59Speaker 1: four and a half.
- 46:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it's definitely these teams where you know, I know
- 46:05Speaker 2: people he upset people got when I talked about Kyler
- 46:07Speaker 2: Murray was on the trading block during the draft and
- 46:09Speaker 2: they were trying to move him, and they were willing
- 46:11Speaker 2: to eat up a lot of his salary because they
- 46:12Speaker 2: basically made a deal with the devil like they gave
- 46:14Speaker 2: him a deal where if they traded him this offseason,
- 46:16Speaker 2: I think they'd start to pay him like one hundred
- 46:18Speaker 2: million on a dead cap. It's something crazy like that
- 46:20Speaker 2: where their last gym was a real idiot. I don't
- 46:23Speaker 2: know if you've heard him talking now on multiple different shows. Wow,
- 46:27Speaker 2: how do I get a job as a GM in
- 46:28Speaker 2: the NFL just to be a total buffoon? That's what
- 46:31Speaker 2: that guy feels like. So to me, it's just a
- 46:33Speaker 2: situation of they have a lot of demons of exile, right,
- 46:37Speaker 2: they have a lot of mistakes on this team. I mean,
- 46:40Speaker 2: I'm shocked Buddha Baker doesn't want to get the fuck
- 46:42Speaker 2: out of there, Like, this guy is way too good
- 46:44Speaker 2: to be stuck on a sinking ship like this. You know,
- 46:48Speaker 2: it's just it sucks if you're an Arizona fan, right,
- 46:51Speaker 2: I mean just a year ago, I think me and
- 46:53Speaker 2: chat both at Kyler Murray are top ten quarterbacks. And
- 46:56Speaker 2: then it comes out that this kid doesn't study his playbooks.
- 46:58Speaker 2: He likes to play video game right when he gets home.
- 47:01Speaker 2: He is the last one into the facility, is the
- 47:04Speaker 2: first one out. Those are all the biggest redflexan chad
- 47:07Speaker 2: you have your own quarterback right now? Justin Field's are
- 47:09Speaker 2: paying This kid lives in your facility, Like literally stays
- 47:13Speaker 2: in there twenty four to seven, sometimes just all week
- 47:16Speaker 2: he's at the facility, sleeps there, wakes up, trains, watches film.
- 47:20Speaker 2: That's what you need to be great in the NFL.
- 47:22Speaker 2: Everyone has the same level of talent, right, we talk
- 47:24Speaker 2: all the time. The talent level from the number one
- 47:26Speaker 2: quarterback to the thirty second isn't that different. It's all
- 47:29Speaker 2: about how hard you're willing to work and how smart
- 47:32Speaker 2: you are. So to me, Kyler we all know is
- 47:34Speaker 2: god given ability. But on a sinking ship like this, Chad,
- 47:37Speaker 2: I think Freeman talked about where it's like, if they
- 47:40Speaker 2: start the year zero to five, why would they rush
- 47:43Speaker 2: Kyler back? Like there is no reason to rush him back.
- 47:46Speaker 2: I can guarantee if people listening to the show, me
- 47:48Speaker 2: and Chatter are going to be on that week one
- 47:49Speaker 2: Cole McCoy plus six against Washington, give it to me
- 47:53Speaker 2: all day, Like mean, Chat are gonna love that number.
- 47:56Speaker 2: But season win till four and a half? It feels
- 47:59Speaker 2: right five and a half. The news came out, I
- 48:02Speaker 2: mean I wasn't the only one talking about that Kyler
- 48:04Speaker 2: was trying to get moved, and the news came out
- 48:05Speaker 2: that his injury is actually a lot longer into the
- 48:07Speaker 2: season than people predicted. Most people thought he'd be back
- 48:10Speaker 2: by week two or three of the preseason. It's not
- 48:13Speaker 2: really looking that way. So four and a half for
- 48:16Speaker 2: the worst team of football seems right. I mean there's
- 48:18Speaker 2: a lot of question marks at Kyler, this coaching staff,
- 48:22Speaker 2: and just the future of this team. And yes, if
- 48:25Speaker 2: you can have Houston's draft pick in your own and
- 48:28Speaker 2: you can have two top five picks in a year,
- 48:30Speaker 2: that who knows how good these quarterbacks are coming out
- 48:33Speaker 2: next year. But it's one of those where I feel
- 48:36Speaker 2: like they don't have a choice, like they have to
- 48:37Speaker 2: end up. They're probably gonna have to end up taking
- 48:39Speaker 2: all these quarterbacks and move off Kyler Murray. So to
- 48:41Speaker 2: meet Chad the when you're looking at number this low,
- 48:45Speaker 2: I mean usually don't like taking unders this low. I
- 48:47Speaker 2: honestly like last year, I think our lowest total was
- 48:51Speaker 2: I think we took Bears five and a half and
- 48:52Speaker 2: we were scared. Remember they won three games in the
- 48:54Speaker 2: first month and a half, and we were like, surely
- 48:57Speaker 2: that was a bad bet. I don't think we'll have
- 48:59Speaker 2: to worry about that with it Arizona team. So I'm
- 49:01Speaker 2: with Freeman. I'm not gonna put a big bet on it.
- 49:03Speaker 2: I got that at four wins, so four and a
- 49:06Speaker 2: half feels right. I'm gonna take this under here, no
- 49:09Speaker 2: division odds, nothing for them. I just I love betting
- 49:12Speaker 2: shitty teams to win the divisions. This like they could
- 49:14Speaker 2: have gave me. I don't know, two thousand and one
- 49:17Speaker 2: odds on this divisional odds, I probably still wouldn't bet it.
- 49:20Speaker 2: I just there is no scenario unless literally all these
- 49:23Speaker 2: other teams just fall fall off a cliff. Arizona maybe
- 49:26Speaker 2: can do it, but I just don't believe it. So
- 49:28Speaker 2: to me, Chad, I hate going with the public. This
- 49:31Speaker 2: is one of the most this is one of the
- 49:32Speaker 2: most heavily bet public bets right now. I saw Action
- 49:34Speaker 2: tweeted out earlier today, the under four and a half.
- 49:38Speaker 2: I'll deal with Chad. I'll join the public, and I'll
- 49:39Speaker 2: take the under four and a half. It just feels like
- 49:41Speaker 2: the right number for a team that just has no
- 49:43Speaker 2: identity right now.
