Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: The first seven groups to get cash from the fifty
- 0:03Speaker 1: million dollars Social Investment Fund of being announced. This is
- 0:05Speaker 1: the first round of funding the fifty million aimed at
- 0:08Speaker 1: helping kids stood down before the age of thirteen, those
- 0:11Speaker 1: who've been in state care or who have a parent
- 0:13Speaker 1: behind bars. The funded services range from counseling the kids
- 0:17Speaker 1: in the Art Behavior Change Program and Levin's support for
- 0:20Speaker 1: disabled students in Auckland. Enid Atratahi Prior is with Naziawa
- 0:25Speaker 1: Social and Health Services Trust Chief executive there en it's
- 0:27Speaker 1: with me this morning.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Good morning Mardena, Bryan, good to have you on the show. Enid.
- 0:32Speaker 2: What is your organization doing?
- 0:36Speaker 3: So for this particular program, we're establishing a new front door.
- 0:41Speaker 3: So front door is going to be a central point
- 0:44Speaker 3: for all family harm intake, assessment and service provision. So
- 0:53Speaker 3: it's very very different to what is currently happening in
- 0:56Speaker 3: the Eastern Bays Plenty for family harm coordination.
- 1:00Speaker 2: What's happening now, Enid.
- 1:02Speaker 3: So what happens now, Ryan, is that family harm is
- 1:07Speaker 3: very much centralized around police response, police of order agents,
- 1:13Speaker 3: and what we seek to do through a new front
- 1:16Speaker 3: door is changed that to a more community driven response
- 1:23Speaker 3: and community driven rap round service.
- 1:27Speaker 1: So have you done this type of work before. Do
- 1:30Speaker 1: you have a model that you had to prove?
- 1:33Speaker 3: Yes, yes, we do so. Very recently we erected a
- 1:38Speaker 3: new front door that takes reports of concern from Autong
- 1:43Speaker 3: INTIMODICI and transfers those reports of concern into a community
- 1:49Speaker 3: front door. Now, as a result of taking those reports
- 1:53Speaker 3: of concern out of Audong Intimidice, we have seen a
- 1:57Speaker 3: decline in children entering the Audong automaticy system because we've
- 2:03Speaker 3: actually incorporated wrap around services that support Pharo and keep
- 2:09Speaker 3: them out of Audung Automatic Care. We're taking the very
- 2:13Speaker 3: same principles around that front door and not removing the
- 2:19Speaker 3: police totally, but working more closely with the police in
- 2:23Speaker 3: a coordinated way to support Farno experiencing family harm. That
- 2:29Speaker 3: is a very very big shift. It actually supports families
- 2:34Speaker 3: who may otherwise not report family harm because of the
- 2:39Speaker 3: fear of having their children immediately uplifted by Audung AUTOMATICQI
- 2:46Speaker 3: because there've.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Are so the help. This is the difference. It's kind
- 2:49Speaker 2: of taking the.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Authority part out of it, the police part out of it,
- 2:54Speaker 1: the OT part out of it, and saying, hey, we're
- 2:55Speaker 1: a bit more friendly, so get in touch and you
- 2:58Speaker 1: can fix the problem before it because a disaster.
- 3:02Speaker 3: That's certainly the intention, but you can never remove the
- 3:07Speaker 3: need for state intervention or police intervention at very very
- 3:12Speaker 3: critical and harmful points in a journey like what we're
- 3:18Speaker 3: talking about, so we still have that as a part
- 3:25Speaker 3: of our kitty, is part of the tools, but this
- 3:28Speaker 3: is a very prevention focused, very rap round in terms
- 3:32Speaker 3: of support mechanisms that we're now bringing into the system.
- 3:36Speaker 1: And appreciate your time this morning. Thanks for being with me.
