- 0:08Speaker 1: All right, hello and welcome back to Twins Cities Territory,
- 0:14Speaker 1: Minnesota Twins podcast here on the Foul Territory Network. It
- 0:17Speaker 1: is Friday, April seventeenth. There has not been a game
- 0:21Speaker 1: since the last time we talked to you, but that
- 0:23Speaker 1: won't stop us. Zach Pierce, editor for The Athletic, along
- 0:26Speaker 1: with Dan Hayes, our Minnesota Twins beat writer at the Athletic,
- 0:30Speaker 1: and Tyler Duffee, of course, longtime Major leaguer and Minnesota Twin.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Twins are still eleven and eight. As I said, no
- 0:37Speaker 1: games since last time. We're going to talk about a
- 0:39Speaker 1: couple or one lingering item from that last series against Boston.
- 0:45Speaker 1: We'll get into a little bit about the Reds this
- 0:48Speaker 1: weekend series coming up, and we'll play a game at
- 0:51Speaker 1: the end name that twin. Dan Hayes will be on
- 0:54Speaker 1: the spot for Twins Trivia. I can't wait. So here
- 0:58Speaker 1: we go, guys. So the first thing we want to
- 1:03Speaker 1: talk about that we didn't get to you on Wednesday
- 1:05Speaker 1: show is the situation with Red Sox player Jared Duran.
- 1:10Speaker 1: If you if you watch the game on Tuesday, it
- 1:12Speaker 1: was Tuesday, right Dan, that the incident happened. Uh he
- 1:17Speaker 1: was seen on camera sticking up the middle finger to
- 1:20Speaker 1: the fans behind first base on his way back to
- 1:23Speaker 1: the dugout after recording it out. Duran later said that
- 1:27Speaker 1: a fan had told him to kill himself, which.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Right, I went over for that, I did. I was
- 1:33Speaker 2: therefore that we got the alert of the mental finger.
- 1:36Speaker 2: We sat on social media like everyone because nobody saw
- 1:38Speaker 2: it in game.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Yeah, he did so.
- 1:43Speaker 2: But a camera picks up everything in a ballpark.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, right, there's we haven't heard We haven't heard
- 1:48Speaker 1: it on audio, haven't seen it on social media. Obviously.
- 1:51Speaker 1: It goes without saying that a horrendous thing to say
- 1:54Speaker 1: to to anyone in any context, certainly a player who
- 1:58Speaker 1: has struggled with mental health in the past. Duran has
- 2:01Speaker 1: also had his run ins with fans in the past.
- 2:03Speaker 1: He had an incident last year where he shouted a
- 2:06Speaker 1: slur at a fan. So a whole lot going on here, Dan.
- 2:09Speaker 1: But after we taped on Wednesday, Yes, after we taped
- 2:13Speaker 1: on Wednesday, you had had some reporting on the Athletic
- 2:18Speaker 1: about the latest on the situation and the twins looking
- 2:21Speaker 1: into it. Where are we at with it?
- 2:23Speaker 2: Yeah, so let me just give context. I did go
- 2:25Speaker 2: over Tuesday, and I was there for him talking about it.
- 2:29Speaker 2: He wanted to talk about it. I think he talked
- 2:31Speaker 2: to Red Sox PR for about a minute and all
- 2:34Speaker 2: the reporters from the Red Sox were not sure if
- 2:36Speaker 2: he was going to address it or not, and he
- 2:38Speaker 2: waved us over and he wanted to talk about it
- 2:41Speaker 2: and said, hey, someone told me to kill myself. And
- 2:45Speaker 2: he said, you know it's he blamed it on himself
- 2:49Speaker 2: for bringing it up last year. And I know it's
- 2:51Speaker 2: pretty famously on the Netflix document documentary or that Red
- 2:56Speaker 2: Sox series dated last year where he's had suicidal thoughts
- 3:01Speaker 2: and he's been open to talk about it, and so
- 3:05Speaker 2: you know, he had said that the finger, by the way,
- 3:09Speaker 2: I saw Rickie Henderson off the crowd a zillion times
- 3:12Speaker 2: whenever I went to AIDS games, because he loved to
- 3:15Speaker 2: play with them, Like a middle finger to me at
- 3:18Speaker 2: a ballgame is not that big of a deal. I
- 3:20Speaker 2: don't know why there was a big reaction to it
- 3:22Speaker 2: in the first place, but anyway, so we got there
- 3:25Speaker 2: to this and on Wednesday, the Twins really dove into it.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Now the Twins had said they released a statement on
- 3:35Speaker 2: Wednesday morning saying we're looking into this incident. We don't
- 3:38Speaker 2: condone this action and that you know, it's simple. That's
- 3:41Speaker 2: a terrible thing to do for a fan to say.
- 3:44Speaker 2: And essentially they then went and checked with everyone they
- 3:49Speaker 2: could and what they you know, got back by the
- 3:53Speaker 2: end of the game Wednesday, especially within a few hours after,
- 3:57Speaker 2: and they'd talked to enough people where they said they
- 3:59Speaker 2: couldn't robbery and the evidence now that to be fair.
- 4:03Speaker 2: When when Adam Jones, when that incident happened in Boston
- 4:08Speaker 2: and there was a racial slur throwing towards him, no
- 4:11Speaker 2: investigation uncovered anything. It's gonna be hard to get someone
- 4:14Speaker 2: to admit to doing this, to say they said kill yourself.
- 4:19Speaker 2: But you know, there was some some thought like, hey,
- 4:23Speaker 2: there were sixteen thousand announced on Tuesday night, but really
- 4:27Speaker 2: there were maybe ten thousand people in the ballpark. It
- 4:30Speaker 2: was pretty quiet and no field might picked it up,
- 4:33Speaker 2: no camera picked it up. They you know, Duran flipped
- 4:39Speaker 2: off the crowd, but Duran didn't like gesture go towards
- 4:42Speaker 2: the crowd. Aside from that, they they didn't he didn't
- 4:46Speaker 2: tell anybody on the Red Sox bench. He didn't want to.
- 4:50Speaker 2: He said he didn't want to distract his teammates, so
- 4:53Speaker 2: the Twins didn't find out until after the game, and
- 4:55Speaker 2: they said they would have investigated immediately. If you know,
- 4:57Speaker 2: if he had gone to security when it happened, they
- 4:59Speaker 2: would have immediately gone over to the fans because there
- 5:02Speaker 2: were probably one hundred and fifty people in that section.
- 5:05Speaker 2: It would have been pretty easy to go check out
- 5:07Speaker 2: what happened. And so they essentially had talked to a
- 5:13Speaker 2: lot of people and they just can't find someone that
- 5:17Speaker 2: said that they heard it. Doesn't mean it didn't happen,
- 5:21Speaker 2: and it's a really it doesn't mean that he didn't
- 5:23Speaker 2: think he heard it too. That's another thing. You're running
- 5:27Speaker 2: down a baseline at full speed and you're used to
- 5:30Speaker 2: this absolutely. I mean, one thing I did here, one
- 5:35Speaker 2: report was that one fan was very proud that Duran
- 5:40Speaker 2: reacted toward him because he had been there the night before,
- 5:43Speaker 2: he had been there that day and had just gone
- 5:46Speaker 2: over and I'm going to guess there were some swear
- 5:49Speaker 2: words involved. I'm going to guess there was some colorful language,
- 5:53Speaker 2: without question, but that fan had contended and this is
- 5:56Speaker 2: third hand reporting, so this is probably not lockdown, but
- 6:00Speaker 2: that fan was very excited that they got the reaction
- 6:03Speaker 2: because they've been trying to wear him out about his swing,
- 6:05Speaker 2: and I a tennis racket may have been used. I
- 6:09Speaker 2: know that was something that he went off about last year,
- 6:11Speaker 2: like that was a.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Key word grig last year.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't look, I'm not gonna there's no The
- 6:21Speaker 2: reason why I think the Twins said they haven't corroborated
- 6:24Speaker 2: is they I don't think there's definitive word here either way,
- 6:28Speaker 2: but it definitely seems like, you know, they can't find
- 6:32Speaker 2: anyone said it. And again, when when Adam Jones got
- 6:35Speaker 2: called a horrific thing in Boston, no fan admitted to
- 6:40Speaker 2: saying that either. So maybe someone's just trying to hide here,
- 6:44Speaker 2: but you know, who knows what really happened here. Either way,
- 6:50Speaker 2: It's just not a great statement itself. Just fans. Fans
- 6:56Speaker 2: have always been this way. There's Tyler, you can talk
- 6:59Speaker 2: about Philip he has bullpen and have some tales about that.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Fans have always been this way. And you know, I
- 7:07Speaker 2: saw I saw people go at Rodgers players at at
- 7:13Speaker 2: at Candlestick Park growing up, and there was some horrible
- 7:15Speaker 2: shit said over the time. So would it shocked me
- 7:19Speaker 2: if someone said something pretty bad to Jared Durant and
- 7:24Speaker 2: if it was constant over two days it got to him, No,
- 7:28Speaker 2: it would. It shocked me if someone said kill yourself. No,
- 7:31Speaker 2: it wouldn't. I've seen it all said at the ballpark.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Either way, it's kind of an ugly it's it's it's
- 7:37Speaker 2: an ugly incident. But you know, that's where we're at
- 7:39Speaker 2: with it right now, is that the twins have not
- 7:41Speaker 2: been able to corroborate that kill yourself was said.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it seems like a pretty impossible thing to investigate
- 7:49Speaker 1: after the fact, once people have gone home and all that.
- 7:52Speaker 1: But Tyler, you know, talking about this before the show,
- 7:56Speaker 1: it's obviously an issue that's you know, near to your heart,
- 8:01Speaker 1: given that you had to live it for ten years
- 8:03Speaker 1: or however long we we as fans and media, we
- 8:08Speaker 1: only we only see these situations when they crop up
- 8:11Speaker 1: like this one did. But obviously it's happening a lot
- 8:13Speaker 1: more often. Like how prevalent is it? And where do
- 8:16Speaker 1: you think the line is for for fans and players
- 8:18Speaker 1: in these situations? Yeah, it's I'm like going through just places.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Even the funny part is it's probably worse in the
- 8:28Speaker 4: minor leagues, not so much what they're saying, but just
- 8:32Speaker 4: how audibly clear you can hear people, Like especially the
- 8:35Speaker 4: beginning of the year in Minnesota, like there's not a
- 8:37Speaker 4: lot of people, especially it's the eighth inning. You know,
- 8:40Speaker 4: fans have kind of cleared out, and it's like, oh,
- 8:42Speaker 4: there's that again, and he's just going and the whole
- 8:47Speaker 4: stadium can hear him, you know, to that point, like
- 8:49Speaker 4: Duran had probably been hearing this guy very clearly the
- 8:52Speaker 4: whole series or whatever. He was there, and it's it sucks.
- 8:57Speaker 4: You know, sometimes you can give him, you know, a
- 8:59Speaker 4: glancing look.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Whatever.
- 9:00Speaker 3: I've seen guys get guys thrown out.
- 9:03Speaker 1: You know.
- 9:03Speaker 4: New York comes to mind for me, especially like playoffs.
- 9:07Speaker 4: You know, Yankee Stadium. You're kind of in that little
- 9:10Speaker 4: it feels like you're in the zoo, like it's you know,
- 9:12Speaker 4: they're all up above and around you, and you know
- 9:15Speaker 4: the only place to go, like anywhere else is inside
- 9:18Speaker 4: the plexiglass room. And so you know, there's some things
- 9:21Speaker 4: that are yelled and you're like, okay, Like some of
- 9:23Speaker 4: them are funny, some of them are just flat out
- 9:25Speaker 4: and just like aggressive and wild, and you know, to
- 9:29Speaker 4: that point, sometimes you know, you go over and you
- 9:32Speaker 4: give a little courtesy, you know, talk to the police officer,
- 9:35Speaker 4: and all of a sudden, it kind of calms down
- 9:36Speaker 4: for a minute, like you don't have to say anything.
- 9:38Speaker 4: You can, like guys would just go act like they're
- 9:41Speaker 4: saying something to them about a fan, and they'll just
- 9:43Speaker 4: kind of work itself out. But yeah, it's you know,
- 9:46Speaker 4: there's been some times I'll chirp back a little bit.
- 9:49Speaker 4: You know, guys will get pissed because it is, you know,
- 9:51Speaker 4: at the end of the day, like we're all individuals, and.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Whatever makes you angry or makes someone else angry is different.
- 9:57Speaker 4: And you know, in the cotton the wrong moment and
- 9:59Speaker 4: they heat attle like you're gonna let it fly, And
- 10:02Speaker 4: you know, I think it's important to remember.
- 10:04Speaker 3: That, like, yes we are athletes, Yes we are getting.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Paid money to do something for entertainment, but I'm still
- 10:11Speaker 4: a grown man who will willingly come meet you.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Face to face. And I think people forget that.
- 10:17Speaker 4: You know, once you're at that stadium, it's no longer Instagram,
- 10:19Speaker 4: it's no longer Twitter, and it's it's real. Like I'm
- 10:23Speaker 4: kind of getting fired up thinking about it. Like, you know,
- 10:26Speaker 4: sometimes you just want to go grab somebody. And the
- 10:28Speaker 4: problem is we do that, the cameras zoom in, you know,
- 10:32Speaker 4: but when this guy is sitting in the crowd, Oh,
- 10:34Speaker 4: it's just a drunk fan, you know whatever, And after
- 10:37Speaker 4: the fact, it's kind of no big deal.
- 10:39Speaker 3: In a week from now, nobody's gonna care. You know,
- 10:41Speaker 3: it's a middle finger.
- 10:41Speaker 1: At the end of the day.
- 10:43Speaker 4: I'm sure some guys who played did much worse to fans,
- 10:46Speaker 4: you know, before cameras were everywhere. You know, it's just, uh,
- 10:49Speaker 4: it's part of the times.
- 10:51Speaker 2: No, look, it's a middle finger. He didn't go at
- 10:54Speaker 2: the crowd. He didn't he didn't know anything back and
- 10:58Speaker 2: the only reason we saw it was because the camera
- 11:00Speaker 2: picked it up on Instagram or and somebody put it
- 11:03Speaker 2: on Instagram a little later. As far as what his
- 11:06Speaker 2: reaction was was pretty ok. I can own that. I mean,
- 11:11Speaker 2: I you know, look, maybe a little kids thought and
- 11:13Speaker 2: you don't want the little kids seeing that. But I mean,
- 11:15Speaker 2: like his reaction was not horrible, the fact that we
- 11:18Speaker 2: were there to ask him about it. But it's it's
- 11:21Speaker 2: based off his prior history, that's it. I would bet
- 11:23Speaker 2: that happens, yes.
- 11:25Speaker 3: And he's got a target on his back for the
- 11:27Speaker 3: rest of it.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Right right, correct, and so you know, like it's not
- 11:32Speaker 2: like he did something so egregious. Nobody even recognized it
- 11:35Speaker 2: in the press box when it happened. I bet you
- 11:38Speaker 2: ninety nine percent of the stadium was not aware of
- 11:41Speaker 2: it at the time. I bet you. You know, there's
- 11:43Speaker 2: still a bunch of people that aren't not on social media,
- 11:46Speaker 2: that were at the game. They have no idea this happened,
- 11:48Speaker 2: except that it's.
- 11:49Speaker 3: The third grade.
- 11:50Speaker 4: Like you're in class and your buddies next to you
- 11:52Speaker 4: and you give them the ha, you know, flip them
- 11:54Speaker 4: off by your ear like it's just like yeah.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Right exactly. So it's like, I don't think that what
- 12:00Speaker 2: he did was egregious. If you're getting worn out for
- 12:03Speaker 2: two days, look, it's fair game to me. Like the
- 12:07Speaker 2: you know, I I uh, it's always my favorite those
- 12:10Speaker 2: one of the guys getting heckled and and then hits
- 12:12Speaker 2: a home run. That's the best. That's the best reaction
- 12:15Speaker 2: is you're getting heckled for you can't hit, and then
- 12:18Speaker 2: you hit a home run. Seen that a few times.
- 12:20Speaker 2: That's the best way to do it. But yeah, it's
- 12:24Speaker 2: it's unfortunate because no matter what. Like you said, he's
- 12:27Speaker 2: got Target for the rest of his career. And you
- 12:31Speaker 2: know it's the end of series and I you know,
- 12:36Speaker 2: I'm sure both parties want to move on.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Uh, and we will as well. We'll get back to
- 12:41Speaker 1: the twins in just a moment here after a quick
- 12:44Speaker 1: word from our sponsor.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Krats.
- 12:50Speaker 5: The world has a chord problem, wires everywhere. It's twenty
- 12:54Speaker 5: twenty six and it is time to get a Ridge wallet.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Five and one.
- 12:59Speaker 6: It's not a wallet, it's a charger. Look at this thing.
- 13:03Speaker 6: It sticks to your phone. You push the button, it
- 13:05Speaker 6: charges your phone while you can charge two different items
- 13:09Speaker 6: at the same time.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Oh and don't forget while it's charging.
- 13:13Speaker 6: You got a little a little lean to John that'll
- 13:16Speaker 6: help it sit right there.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Appreciate your Ridge wallet.
- 13:19Speaker 5: This is so nice, which is great for me. If
- 13:21Speaker 5: I'm at the airport, I'm watching a game, I can
- 13:23Speaker 5: charge five devices and then I can just watch something
- 13:26Speaker 5: on the phone. Of course, they still have the wallets
- 13:28Speaker 5: that are money too, and we know the code. It's
- 13:30Speaker 5: nice and simple. It's foul foul. One thing to pack.
- 13:34Speaker 5: Five ways to power. You can find Ridge's Power bank
- 13:37Speaker 5: at best Buy or our listeners can get ten percent
- 13:39Speaker 5: off at Ridge dot com by using code foul at checkout.
- 13:42Speaker 5: Head to Ridge dot com, use code foul and you're
- 13:44Speaker 5: all set. After your purchase, they'll ask you where you
- 13:46Speaker 5: heard about them, Please support FT until them we sent you.
- 13:52Speaker 1: All Right, we're back. I forget how effective advertising can
- 13:56Speaker 1: be when you're actually watching it. You know, so many
- 13:59Speaker 1: people DVR stuff and skip camera, skip the ads and
- 14:03Speaker 1: all that. Now, so anyway, we are back. We had
- 14:07Speaker 1: talked on Wednesday show about taking some mail bag questions,
- 14:11Speaker 1: and then we never actually solicited any mail bag questions,
- 14:15Speaker 1: so we don't have any, but we decided instead we're
- 14:18Speaker 1: just going to talk about what is I guess probably
- 14:22Speaker 1: the prevailing question with the team, which is broadly, can
- 14:25Speaker 1: they keep this up? Eleven and eight, still in first
- 14:28Speaker 1: place in the Central. What this means in that sentence,
- 14:33Speaker 1: I guess is kind of up to you, But I think, broadly,
- 14:37Speaker 1: just can they stay competitive? Can they potentially be a
- 14:40Speaker 1: playoff team? There's some reasons to say yes, sence of
- 14:44Speaker 1: reasons to doubt it maybe, And I want to hear
- 14:47Speaker 1: one reason from each side, from you guys, and let's
- 14:50Speaker 1: start with Tyler.
- 14:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I think there is a world where it can
- 14:56Speaker 4: be the five being.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Five hundred can be maintained.
- 15:00Speaker 4: I'm not going to say keep in first place, you know,
- 15:03Speaker 4: all that, because that's so hard to predict, but I
- 15:04Speaker 4: think maintaining something near where they're at now is possible.
- 15:10Speaker 4: You know, they're getting great performances out of most of
- 15:13Speaker 4: the rotation at the moment. That's going to go in waves,
- 15:17Speaker 4: you know, I think the bullpen will settle into a
- 15:21Speaker 4: kind of hit on that before and other shows. I
- 15:24Speaker 4: think they'll settle into some roles which will create some comfortability.
- 15:28Speaker 4: I'm sure there's some guys in Triple A that are
- 15:31Speaker 4: going to make some noise and like maybe show that
- 15:33Speaker 4: they're ready, maybe get the little injection of some some
- 15:37Speaker 4: fresh arms, things like that coming.
- 15:40Speaker 3: You know, it's gonna warm up.
- 15:41Speaker 4: Guys are going to hit their strides, you know, like
- 15:43Speaker 4: I said, Byron's just now getting hot and guys around
- 15:47Speaker 4: him are going to get more comfortable because of that.
- 15:49Speaker 4: And I think for the main part of it, those
- 15:52Speaker 4: are you know, the three I mean that's three big
- 15:55Speaker 4: pieces you know, starting rotation in the lineup. You know,
- 15:58Speaker 4: I think it's maintainable to an extent, you know, there's
- 16:02Speaker 4: gonna be some pickups, but I think holding five hundred
- 16:05Speaker 4: is very much a realistic place to be because it's,
- 16:08Speaker 4: you know, they're they're not doing anything that's like crazy
- 16:12Speaker 4: over the top. You know, they're hitting well with runners
- 16:14Speaker 4: in scoring position, which you kind of try to do anyways.
- 16:18Speaker 3: You know, it's it's.
- 16:19Speaker 4: One you know, you can put the ball in play,
- 16:21Speaker 4: you know, basically that's all you got to do, and
- 16:23Speaker 4: easier said than done at times. But you know they're
- 16:26Speaker 4: they're not like they're not pitching one one nothing shutouts
- 16:29Speaker 4: every night and winning the game. You know, it's they're
- 16:31Speaker 4: blowing people out when they're winning, and they're kind of
- 16:33Speaker 4: getting blown out when they lose. And that's not a
- 16:37Speaker 4: horrible formula. You know, it gives guys breaks when you
- 16:40Speaker 4: need them, you know, bullpen arms, things like that. So
- 16:43Speaker 4: it's it's a weird way to win and lose. But
- 16:46Speaker 4: at the same time, if you're winning and doing that
- 16:48Speaker 4: more than losing, it's gonna work out.
- 16:53Speaker 2: So let me start with the reason I think they
- 16:55Speaker 2: won't run a huge like run away and be a
- 17:00Speaker 2: like a wildly successful team right infield defense. Infield defense,
- 17:03Speaker 2: and we saw it surface look there's it's not a
- 17:07Speaker 2: rangy group. There're gonna be a lot of well placed
- 17:13Speaker 2: hits getting through the middle of the infield. That's gonna
- 17:17Speaker 2: happen all year. And the other day we saw it
- 17:21Speaker 2: surface in the worst way where Luke Kishall tried to
- 17:23Speaker 2: do a lot on the bases, loaded play, booted it
- 17:27Speaker 2: and then still tried to throw to first base and
- 17:29Speaker 2: make the play and it led to two runs, but
- 17:31Speaker 2: it kept the rally going and turned into a five
- 17:33Speaker 2: run rally. The infield defense definitely is just the biggest
- 17:36Speaker 2: question mark about this team we've thought that. I mean,
- 17:38Speaker 2: obviously the bullpen is a question mark two, just because
- 17:41Speaker 2: you're right, there's guys there, there's interesting guys there. They
- 17:45Speaker 2: still need gas in that bullpen. But like the infield
- 17:49Speaker 2: defense definitely has a chance to when you don't have
- 17:53Speaker 2: strikeout guys in the mound, put them in harm's way
- 17:55Speaker 2: because when balls are in play and they're not being caught,
- 17:58Speaker 2: they lead to inevitable rallies that could happen. We haven't
- 18:01Speaker 2: seen the Twins play Cleveland yet. This team that loves
- 18:05Speaker 2: to capitalize on that kind of thing. So that's why
- 18:08Speaker 2: they won't run away and be you know, I can
- 18:11Speaker 2: see them. I think I said on opening day or
- 18:13Speaker 2: right there, seventy nine and eighty three, you're in that
- 18:17Speaker 2: five hundred range. I can see them like you, like
- 18:20Speaker 2: you Tyler maintaining that now. The reason why I can
- 18:24Speaker 2: see them being good, why I don't think this is fake,
- 18:26Speaker 2: is I do believe in Joe Ryan, TODJ. Bradley, Mick
- 18:32Speaker 2: Abel and Mickabel's cat stir Ralphington and Lord, I can't remember.
- 18:40Speaker 7: How do I cut Mike let me see, And in fact,
- 18:44Speaker 7: we found the social media account the other night and
- 18:47Speaker 7: I immediately went up to him and showed him my
- 18:49Speaker 7: two cats.
- 18:49Speaker 2: The next day it was great. So I like what
- 18:53Speaker 2: I've seen from Mickable the last two times out I
- 18:56Speaker 2: like twice on spring training. I really like what I've
- 18:59Speaker 2: seen from TODJ. Bradley, And I like what I've heard
- 19:02Speaker 2: from Taj Bradley, like when you got those two guys
- 19:05Speaker 2: with the stuff they have and Joe Ryan in front,
- 19:09Speaker 2: and even with Bailey Over's velocity search for velocity continuing on,
- 19:15Speaker 2: he does know how to get outs. He's he's got
- 19:18Speaker 2: to get better. He's been prone to the big mistake
- 19:21Speaker 2: the three run Homer and it's it's messed up his lines,
- 19:24Speaker 2: but he I certainly believe he could be a five inning,
- 19:27Speaker 2: two run guy and keep them in games. Simon Wood
- 19:31Speaker 2: Richardson has had a really interesting last two Wednesday was tough.
- 19:35Speaker 2: His stuff was amazing. Actually, he was hitting ninety six
- 19:38Speaker 2: on Wednesday. So I believe the rotation can keep them
- 19:43Speaker 2: in this And that's one reason I do believe that
- 19:46Speaker 2: this is a team that's got stay in power is
- 19:48Speaker 2: if they can solve some of those other issues, if
- 19:50Speaker 2: they can get some guys that throw hard in the bullpen,
- 19:53Speaker 2: and Andrew Morris, what role he pitches in will be interesting,
- 19:58Speaker 2: just because we saw him in a long role in
- 19:59Speaker 2: his first one. But he throws hard out of the bullpen.
- 20:02Speaker 2: That could be where he ends up, never know and
- 20:07Speaker 2: bringing up other guys figuring that out if they're around
- 20:10Speaker 2: at the trade deadline, it's possibility, Like it would be
- 20:13Speaker 2: funny if the Twins went out and needed to acquire
- 20:16Speaker 2: bullpen help at the trade deadline because they're.
- 20:18Speaker 3: In a race.
- 20:21Speaker 2: So so I think that there is reason for staying
- 20:25Speaker 2: power just on the rotation alone. I like the offense.
- 20:27Speaker 2: I like what I've seen and It's not like anybody's
- 20:29Speaker 2: going crazy and doing something that they don't do other
- 20:32Speaker 2: Tristan Gray. Tristan Gray is his production is better than
- 20:36Speaker 2: at any point in his career. And I don't know,
- 20:39Speaker 2: you know, he's a thirty year old, Like you get
- 20:42Speaker 2: to that point, you can have career years, and guys
- 20:44Speaker 2: do do that, there's no question. But I don't know
- 20:47Speaker 2: that we can really count on him to be on
- 20:49Speaker 2: one hundred and ten home run pace or one hundred
- 20:51Speaker 2: and ten rbi pace the whole season. That might be unrealistic.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Thirty was one of my better years for sure, a
- 21:00Speaker 1: long time ago. Now the tyler you mentioned the runners
- 21:04Speaker 1: in scoring position thing, it's it's wild. I mean they're
- 21:07Speaker 1: hitting three fourteen with runners in scoring positions right now,
- 21:10Speaker 1: best in the league, and that's almost there is eighty
- 21:13Speaker 1: three points better than their overall average of two thirty one.
- 21:17Speaker 1: So that you know, is is that is that clutch?
- 21:22Speaker 1: Is it luck? Is it? Whatever? We'll see it is.
- 21:26Speaker 4: The hitting group too, like we've hit on, like they've
- 21:29Speaker 4: had great plans for these starters, Like maybe they've gotten
- 21:32Speaker 4: guys to realize, you know, I'm seeing bunts all all
- 21:35Speaker 4: of a sudden all these games. Think Milwaukee Bunnett three
- 21:38Speaker 4: times in one inning yesterday to score a run, like
- 21:41Speaker 4: small balls.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Kind of creeping back in. Maybe. You know that's used
- 21:45Speaker 3: to be the Minnesota way. Man it was, you know,
- 21:48Speaker 3: get them on.
- 21:48Speaker 4: Get him over, get him in. And you know you
- 21:50Speaker 4: have Molly calling the game. The other day, I was
- 21:52Speaker 4: thinking about it. It's like, man, like, just put him
- 21:54Speaker 4: down there and tell him you'll lay down a good
- 21:55Speaker 4: bunt here. You gonna slap it the other way, I mean,
- 21:58Speaker 4: choke choke up a little bit, shoot one the other way.
- 22:01Speaker 2: You know.
- 22:01Speaker 4: That's that's how you maintain that, you know, And it's
- 22:03Speaker 4: it's and here, and it's only three sixteen, Like that's
- 22:07Speaker 4: not like they're hitting five hundred.
- 22:08Speaker 3: You know, yeah, it's still they're still getting out.
- 22:10Speaker 4: So and that's without Royce hitting with the bases loaded,
- 22:13Speaker 4: so you know it's right, plug him in.
- 22:15Speaker 3: You know that's guaranteed four spot.
- 22:17Speaker 4: So yeah, it's to Dan's point, you know, the the
- 22:21Speaker 4: loves are potentially there, but you know, I think the
- 22:25Speaker 4: rotation can still maintain. And as you know, Simeon maybe peaks.
- 22:29Speaker 4: You know, another guy has a rough one. You know
- 22:31Speaker 4: that balance is out. You know, things like that happen,
- 22:33Speaker 4: and so you know there there's there's a track where
- 22:37Speaker 4: this could work out. And like I said, just being
- 22:40Speaker 4: five hundred gets you a shot, like that's all you
- 22:42Speaker 4: can ask for, you know, being a mix towards the
- 22:44Speaker 4: end of the year.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean if you're if you're three games better
- 22:48Speaker 1: than five hundred, you're probably in the playoffs.
- 22:50Speaker 7: You're in.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, so in that.
- 22:55Speaker 2: We're we're an equal time Sir Ruffinson, Kat and Lady Rory, I.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Thank you for thank you for clearing that up. Yes, yes,
- 23:03Speaker 1: Lady Lady Rory.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Yes, And they have their own Instagram and there's a
- 23:09Speaker 2: picture of one of them mewing for Mick Able when
- 23:13Speaker 2: he was pitching there.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Well, sometime, Dan, if you ever have to do this
- 23:17Speaker 1: show by yourself, you can dedicate it to cat discussion,
- 23:21Speaker 1: just cat pictures.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, Angela the Office.
- 23:24Speaker 2: I like it. I think that I'll just tape a
- 23:28Speaker 2: show one day without you guys even knowing it. I'll
- 23:31Speaker 2: just go the cat hour with Dan.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Let's let's very emphatically move on from that discussion and
- 23:42Speaker 1: Cincinnati in town for a weekend series a night game
- 23:46Speaker 1: Friday night and then afternoon games both Saturday and Sunday.
- 23:52Speaker 1: It has been an absolutely beautiful week in Minnesota, and
- 23:56Speaker 1: it's a little rainy here right now and the temperature
- 23:59Speaker 1: is back down in the forties for the entire weekend.
- 24:02Speaker 1: It looks like so here here they are riding high
- 24:05Speaker 1: and a home weekend series after this beautiful weather. But
- 24:08Speaker 1: it's still going to be a little dicey there at
- 24:11Speaker 1: the ballpark. But the Twins have Joe Ryan, Taj Bradley,
- 24:16Speaker 1: and Bailey Ober lined up to pitch against a trio
- 24:20Speaker 1: of Reds who have eras over five, so they've got
- 24:24Speaker 1: to like how things stack up.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Dan, Yeah, just having that pitching going is going to
- 24:30Speaker 2: be You're gonna find yourself in games when you have
- 24:33Speaker 2: two of your best going in two of those three
- 24:36Speaker 2: and a real good chance to extend this series win
- 24:39Speaker 2: streak to four when in the Reds have played well.
- 24:42Speaker 2: This is a team. It's not like, Okay, I would
- 24:45Speaker 2: be lying if I said I saw what their last
- 24:47Speaker 2: series was, but they were nine and six a couple
- 24:49Speaker 2: of days ago. They're at least five hundred or better.
- 24:52Speaker 2: So this is a good team. And Ellie da la
- 24:53Speaker 2: Cruz is an amazing player and someone I really like watching.
- 24:59Speaker 2: But when you your starters going, you're lined up that way,
- 25:02Speaker 2: that's good Friday night. The thing I really like tonight
- 25:06Speaker 2: is the night where they told everybody they had an
- 25:08Speaker 2: opening day ticket, come on out and your your opening
- 25:12Speaker 2: day ticket is worth a ticket tonight. So they're clearly
- 25:16Speaker 2: looking to get a bigger crowd and get that kind
- 25:19Speaker 2: of fun atmosphere. And I know it's two dollars beers
- 25:22Speaker 2: again tonight pregame and two dollars pregame beers again tomorrow,
- 25:27Speaker 2: but definitely is a chance for It's too bad it's
- 25:33Speaker 2: so cold. It's just that's I mean, especially when Zach,
- 25:37Speaker 2: I think you said it was like Santa Monica weather.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Yes, it was unbelievable yesterday. It took me to take
- 25:42Speaker 1: me back. Yeah. Yeah.
- 25:44Speaker 2: I walked to the ballpark every day this week because
- 25:47Speaker 2: it was minimum sixty degrees and that's a nice way
- 25:52Speaker 2: when you live over in the area. It's easily walkable
- 25:55Speaker 2: for me. And if it's like forty, I'm not I'm
- 25:58Speaker 2: getting a ride with somebody. I'm I will definitely walk
- 26:03Speaker 2: in sixty. And it was like Wednesday was amazing, and Thursday,
- 26:07Speaker 2: I you know, I left yesterday, but it felt amazing
- 26:10Speaker 2: when I left. It's just unfortunate Midwest baby, Midwest spring.
- 26:14Speaker 2: So hopefully summer energies, yes they.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Are, and the rest of it keeps the cost of
- 26:23Speaker 1: living somewhat within reason. I guess we'll go with that.
- 26:27Speaker 1: But yeah, Tyler, I don't really have a question for
- 26:29Speaker 1: you about this series other than yeah, it seems like
- 26:32Speaker 1: it lines up well.
- 26:34Speaker 4: It'll be a good series, you know. Yeah, you have
- 26:36Speaker 4: the top of our rotation going. That's what you can
- 26:38Speaker 4: ask for.
- 26:39Speaker 3: That's all you can ask for going into weekend, you.
- 26:42Speaker 4: Know, Friday night lights. You know, like Dan said, get
- 26:45Speaker 4: the crowd out there hopefully, you know. And the Reds
- 26:48Speaker 4: are they're a good team. I mean they're good. They
- 26:50Speaker 4: got good players, They got rookies that are up with
- 26:52Speaker 4: the kids. Sal you know, he's been tearing the cover
- 26:54Speaker 4: off the ball, so trying to silence him.
- 26:57Speaker 3: You know, Ellie's a good ballplayer to it. It'll be
- 26:59Speaker 3: it'll be a fun series.
- 27:00Speaker 4: There'll be a lot of between Ellie, you know, Buck
- 27:03Speaker 4: and those guys.
- 27:04Speaker 3: There's some electric players on that field this weekend and
- 27:06Speaker 3: then uh, you know, trying try and rough up a
- 27:09Speaker 3: couple of lefties. I think that's part of the mix
- 27:11Speaker 3: for their guys starting against the.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Teams seem to create lefties. They like like materialize out
- 27:17Speaker 2: of thin air to face the Twins. It's like we asked,
- 27:21Speaker 2: we asked Shelty about it. It was like, the Reds
- 27:23Speaker 2: have two coming up. He's like, I can't remember his reaction,
- 27:26Speaker 2: but he made a great joke off of it, and
- 27:28Speaker 2: he's They're just they are shocked at how many lefties.
- 27:33Speaker 2: I think the entire ship has made eye lefties from
- 27:37Speaker 2: the opponents' it's just continually happening.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Maybe more reason to be optimistic about their batting stats then,
- 27:45Speaker 1: But all right, well we'll see what happens. See if
- 27:49Speaker 1: can keep the series win streak going. As you mentioned, Dan,
- 27:54Speaker 1: and with that, we finally have time. We don't have
- 27:57Speaker 1: to we don't have to do apologies to Matt Damon again.
- 28:01Speaker 1: It's time to name that twin Ladies and gentlemen. So
- 28:06Speaker 1: some caveats here. I have no idea if this will
- 28:10Speaker 1: be fun or interesting, or too easy or too hard.
- 28:15Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure one of us is going to look silly, Dan,
- 28:17Speaker 1: either either me or you.
- 28:18Speaker 2: But that's the point of it, is to embarrass me.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Let's be yeah, nine years.
- 28:23Speaker 1: True, no historian, true? Yes, yeah. So I'll explain the game.
- 28:29Speaker 1: It's simple in concept. I'm going to give you one season,
- 28:35Speaker 1: and I'm going to give you some context about that
- 28:37Speaker 1: season that's relevant, and then I'm going to give you
- 28:40Speaker 1: a single statistic. It could be a batting average, era
- 28:43Speaker 1: whatever about a player, and with the idea being that
- 28:47Speaker 1: that statistic is somewhat remarkable. I'm not gonna, you know, say,
- 28:51Speaker 1: who had three saves in the nineteen eighty four season
- 28:54Speaker 1: or anything like that. So I will give you some
- 28:56Speaker 1: context around the season and the stat and see if
- 29:02Speaker 1: you can guess the player. You get one guess. If
- 29:04Speaker 1: you can't, I will give you a clue, and there
- 29:07Speaker 1: will be up to We'll continue that way one guess, clue, clue, clue,
- 29:10Speaker 1: and the clues will get progressively more obvious, three clues
- 29:13Speaker 1: in total, such that if you don't get in on
- 29:15Speaker 1: the last clue, I'm you know, I need to make
- 29:19Speaker 1: some adjustments to the game I guess or work.
- 29:21Speaker 2: So here's let's just say this. I'm going to be
- 29:25Speaker 2: terrible with this, Okay, My Twins knowledge prior to twenty
- 29:30Speaker 2: eighteen is pretty terrible. However, I would like to note
- 29:36Speaker 2: that when we played out of the Park Baseball during
- 29:38Speaker 2: the pandemic in twenty twenty, it was me Zach lifelong
- 29:42Speaker 2: Twins fan, Aaron Gleeman, lifelong Twins fan. We each got
- 29:45Speaker 2: to draft Twins players best off their three top three
- 29:49Speaker 2: year peaks, and the owner of it out of the park,
- 29:54Speaker 2: because Gleeman knows him, made their cards their player cards
- 29:59Speaker 2: based off the three year peaks. So like, if you
- 30:01Speaker 2: drafted Kirby Puckett, you got his three best years, what
- 30:04Speaker 2: he looked like, and who won that? Zach?
- 30:07Speaker 1: Just like by a lot, I forget. I think it
- 30:12Speaker 1: was what what a.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Non Twins fan won that by a lot? Definitely a reporter.
- 30:17Speaker 1: The real question is is did anyone draft Duffy for
- 30:21Speaker 1: the bullpen?
- 30:22Speaker 2: This was twenty twenty, so we only had his twenty
- 30:25Speaker 2: nineteen stats to go off.
- 30:28Speaker 3: He didn't want he didn't want anything prior to nineteen.
- 30:33Speaker 1: All right, maybe fifteen, so yes.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Hell yeah, but it was but it would have to
- 30:39Speaker 2: be three consecutive years, so we would have taken you, oh,
- 30:41Speaker 2: you're twenty nineteen through twenty twenty one. That would have
- 30:44Speaker 2: been a draftable as a reliever.
- 30:46Speaker 3: Of that era.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Yeah all right, So yes, Dan did win this made
- 30:54Speaker 1: up fantasy game that we created out of thin air.
- 30:56Speaker 1: So I will give you that.
- 30:58Speaker 2: There's the pandemic everybody where, you know.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, are you ready? Dan?
- 31:06Speaker 2: I am is there?
- 31:08Speaker 1: Oh no, I forgot the sound effects.
- 31:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess I can just listen right.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no, no, I didn't stick around.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Okay, We've put Tyler.
- 31:18Speaker 2: In his soundproof booth so I can't hear you.
- 31:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna make this. I'm going to make this a
- 31:24Speaker 1: two player game going forward. But so Tyler, Tyler cannot
- 31:27Speaker 1: hear us right now. I think he's adjusting his volume. Okay,
- 31:32Speaker 1: so Tyler's out, He's I guess he'll try after the year.
- 31:36Speaker 1: The year is two thousand and eight.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Okay.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Twins fans will remember this year as as narrow miss
- 31:45Speaker 1: of the playoffs. They made it to a game one
- 31:48Speaker 1: sixty three for a one game playoff. It is not
- 31:52Speaker 1: the game one sixty three of Twins fan lored that
- 31:55Speaker 1: came the following year of the one against the Tigers
- 31:57Speaker 1: at the Metrodome that they wanted extra innings and became
- 32:02Speaker 1: the last happy moment at the Metrodome because target Field
- 32:04Speaker 1: debuted the next year. This game won sixty three was
- 32:08Speaker 1: against Dan Hayes's Chicago White Sox in Chicago.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Just because they covered them doesn't make very good.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a It was a picture's duel, John
- 32:20Speaker 1: Danks versus Nick Blackburn.
- 32:23Speaker 2: I knew it was Nick Blackburn. Okay, I'm feeling good
- 32:25Speaker 2: so far.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Okay it it was a one nothing White Sox victory.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Tyler maybe should have listened to this part so that
- 32:33Speaker 1: I don't have to repeat it. But whatever, a one
- 32:36Speaker 1: nothing White Sox victory is. So they clinched the Central.
- 32:39Speaker 1: The Twins ended up in second place and out of
- 32:42Speaker 1: the playoffs, and the one run for the White Sox
- 32:47Speaker 1: came courtesy of the bat of Jim Tony sold the
- 32:51Speaker 1: home run future twin Jim Tony, who would help make
- 32:54Speaker 1: the target Field debut season so electric one nothing final
- 32:59Speaker 1: White so won the AL Central went to the playoffs.
- 33:03Speaker 1: My question really has nothing.
- 33:05Speaker 2: To do with that game, and oh great, thank you.
- 33:08Speaker 1: My question has to do with a season long stat
- 33:14Speaker 1: of some note that that was achieved that year. A
- 33:18Speaker 1: player on that team did something that only thirty players
- 33:22Speaker 1: in Major league history have ever done. A total of
- 33:24Speaker 1: a total of thirty four times by thirty different players.
- 33:28Speaker 1: And that is that this player played all one hundred
- 33:32Speaker 1: and sixty three games. That is a funky shadow I
- 33:35Speaker 1: have on that stat. I did not mean to do that.
- 33:36Speaker 1: But so that's the question. Dan, which two thousand and
- 33:41Speaker 1: eight Minnesota twin played all one hundred sixty three games.
- 33:49Speaker 2: This is a shortstop.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Well, I can't give you any clues. Well, you'll get
- 33:54Speaker 1: clues if you if you guessed incorrectly, So you know
- 34:00Speaker 1: couple of things. It's not a picture.
- 34:02Speaker 2: Is Christian goose Wan's still on the team? Then he
- 34:05Speaker 2: was not? Yeah, he's too early. My goodness. That wasn't
- 34:12Speaker 2: JJ Hardy? Here was it?
- 34:14Speaker 1: All right? That's that's two guesses. Now you've you've is that?
- 34:18Speaker 1: Is that your guest?
- 34:21Speaker 2: Can you tell me if JJ Hardy was on the team?
- 34:27Speaker 1: I can. I'm not sure if I want to.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Okay, I'm gonna say JJ Hardy.
- 34:32Speaker 3: Why not?
- 34:34Speaker 1: It was not JJ Hardy?
- 34:36Speaker 2: Okay?
- 34:36Speaker 1: And he was looks like he was not on that team.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Okay, your first is terrible.
- 34:42Speaker 1: Your first clue.
- 34:44Speaker 2: Okay.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Uh, this player played one hundred and fifty five of
- 34:50Speaker 1: those one hundred and sixty three games at his primary position,
- 34:55Speaker 1: and the people who filled in the eight games he
- 34:58Speaker 1: did not play that position were Mike Lamb, Michael Cadier,
- 35:05Speaker 1: and Brian Busher.
- 35:09Speaker 2: It's gotta be out Fueler Lamb's third base, right man?
- 35:15Speaker 2: This killing me? Okay, wait, this is killing me. Can
- 35:26Speaker 2: I get a clue? Is can phone a friend?
- 35:30Speaker 3: Uh?
- 35:31Speaker 2: This person is still around the team.
- 35:35Speaker 1: I had no more clues, no more clues. Okay, so well,
- 35:39Speaker 1: I mean there's two more clues, but they're Mike clues.
- 35:45Speaker 6: Mm hmm.
- 35:46Speaker 2: I can't believe. I went with J. J.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Hardy, go with your gut, go with your gut morning
- 35:52Speaker 1: justin Moreno, that is correct? Is that what you said?
- 35:56Speaker 2: Just really?
- 35:59Speaker 1: Yea, that is correct. He played all one hundred and
- 36:00Speaker 1: sixty three games, one hundred and fifty five of them
- 36:03Speaker 1: at first base and the rest of the DH he
- 36:07Speaker 1: was second in m VP. This was two years after
- 36:10Speaker 1: he won MVP, I believe.
- 36:12Speaker 2: In three years. But yeah, he should have won it
- 36:14Speaker 2: that second.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Time and and you know, obviously would have the wow
- 36:18Speaker 1: concussion issues later on, But that year he was in
- 36:21Speaker 1: the lineup every single game.
- 36:23Speaker 2: That's impressive. Wow, I don't let's okay, Tyler.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Let's go, Tyler, Tyler, come back, come back, Tyler. There
- 36:31Speaker 1: we go. Yeah, hello, you listen to listen to some music.
- 36:37Speaker 3: All right, it was immaculate grinding.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Oh nice, all right, Well I should Rodgers was on
- 36:43Speaker 1: there today. I should have left you on for the big,
- 36:46Speaker 1: the big explanation of the whole thing. But basically two
- 36:48Speaker 1: thousand and eight. Uh, they went to a game one
- 36:51Speaker 1: sixty three against the White Sox lossat on the bottom. Yeah,
- 36:55Speaker 1: so that's the stat who played one hundred and sixty
- 36:58Speaker 1: three games on the two twenty eight Twins.
- 37:02Speaker 3: Who played for the Twins and eight besides Joe Mauer
- 37:06Speaker 3: and do I get to ask questions?
- 37:08Speaker 1: You you pick a player and guess, and then if
- 37:12Speaker 1: it's not correct, I'll give you a clue that should
- 37:13Speaker 1: help you narrow it down, and then another one in
- 37:15Speaker 1: another one if you need it.
- 37:17Speaker 3: I'm trying to think of who like.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Like named Yeah I stuck, I had I guess Christian.
- 37:26Speaker 3: Christian gooseand.
- 37:29Speaker 2: I guess J. J. Hardy and Christian Gooseman, neither of
- 37:32Speaker 2: who was on that team.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Yeah, like eight I was.
- 37:36Speaker 3: I don't mean, I don't want to hurt anybody feelings.
- 37:38Speaker 3: I was in high school.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Still I was too. Actually it was long. I was stuck.
- 37:45Speaker 2: So you're saying the thirteenth, thirteenth senior year.
- 37:49Speaker 4: But I mean so if they played one sixty three,
- 37:53Speaker 4: that's it can't be Jill in a way.
- 37:55Speaker 3: He caught every game.
- 37:56Speaker 1: It's somebody you'd wanted the line up every game. Yep,
- 38:00Speaker 1: not a picture obviously, trying to think who had been,
- 38:02Speaker 1: like d H guy playing in a position it's like
- 38:08Speaker 1: left field, center fielder. God, because I didn't Yeah, I
- 38:12Speaker 1: don't have think Tory.
- 38:13Speaker 3: Was gone at this point.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Yeah, Tory left after the two thousand and seventh season.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Oh so okay, who was there? Was Presensky was gone?
- 38:23Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 38:24Speaker 3: That was yeah, Well, well I guess yeah, Joe came.
- 38:27Speaker 2: Was that? Yeah?
- 38:27Speaker 4: I can't remember that hole when they traded or left
- 38:30Speaker 4: or whatever happened. Hell, there's only like three people I
- 38:37Speaker 4: can even think of. Well, Doug Evan Kaevich was there.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Maybe he was gone, he was on the yeah, exactly.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:49Speaker 4: See, this is why I can't like put things in
- 38:53Speaker 4: their place. If he's glitterally jumping through his hands in the.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Air, No, I don't ever, It's it's like the New
- 38:59Speaker 1: York times games. I don't want them to be too
- 39:00Speaker 1: hard that you don't want to come back and play again.
- 39:02Speaker 3: Yeah, oh for sure.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Yeah, all right.
- 39:06Speaker 3: The only one I can think of is morning.
- 39:09Speaker 1: It's justin mornew congrats. First guess for Tyler.
- 39:15Speaker 3: When did he he won the MVP?
- 39:17Speaker 1: Did two thousand and six? Two one? So now I
- 39:21Speaker 1: can show the answer. Yes, it is justin Mornew. He
- 39:26Speaker 1: he he won in two thousand and six. He was
- 39:28Speaker 1: He finished second that year in two thousand and eight,
- 39:32Speaker 1: and uh, yeah, played one hundred That's the clue I
- 39:35Speaker 1: gave to Dan was one hundred and fifty five of
- 39:36Speaker 1: those games were at his primary position. So DH DHD
- 39:41Speaker 1: eight times and played first the rest. And that's that's it.
- 39:46Speaker 1: That's named that twin. I'm gonna I'm gonna have to
- 39:48Speaker 1: go back to the lab on that one a little bit.
- 39:50Speaker 1: But hey, let us know in the comments if you
- 39:52Speaker 1: a if you liked it, be if you got it
- 39:54Speaker 1: right without cheating, of course, but yeah, it's Uh, there's
- 39:59Speaker 1: actually been a few players who've played one hundred and
- 40:01Speaker 1: sixty four or one hundred and sixty five games in
- 40:03Speaker 1: MLB history because back in the sixties and seventies. They
- 40:08Speaker 1: would settle division tiebreakers with the best of three series.
- 40:11Speaker 1: That's right. Yeah, so Morey Wills of the Dodgers is
- 40:14Speaker 1: the only one to ever play one hundred and sixty
- 40:17Speaker 1: five in a season.
- 40:18Speaker 2: But that's crazy.
- 40:20Speaker 4: This would be a hard game to play with the
- 40:21Speaker 4: Royals going back who played one C three is like
- 40:25Speaker 4: the whole lineup?
- 40:26Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, Well that's it. I I'm sorry, guys.
- 40:33Speaker 1: I'll try to go easier on you next time. But
- 40:35Speaker 1: I told you I wasn't going to pick an obscure player,
- 40:37Speaker 1: so I at least came through.
- 40:38Speaker 3: I got a first try, so I don't know why
- 40:40Speaker 3: it was hard.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Twins and Reds Friday through Sunday. The Twins are then
- 40:46Speaker 1: off on Monday. We'll be back with you on Monday
- 40:49Speaker 1: to break down the whole series and set up the
- 40:51Speaker 1: week for the Twins that are in on the road
- 40:54Speaker 1: at the Mets and at Tampa Bay before coming home
- 40:57Speaker 1: again for another home stand at the end of the month.
